Ms. Julie ** was very thorough with her explanation of services. I may suggest after signing and paying retainer up front to request immediately a list of all documents including being given a POA for State revenue inquiries, Tax returns and etc. Also incorporating DOC U Sign services to expedite inquiries and responses. My meeting is next week and hope a WEBEX, ZOOM Video conference will transpire. At these service rates it may make it easier to utilize your local office for video conference or my computer at my home office to make it more user friendly. The two week waiting period is not necessary when waiting for a conference call in 2 weeks to be asked for documents. Thank You, Steve **.
Hey Steven,
Thanks for reaching out and letting us know about your experience. We agree - DocuSign and other online signing services are an excellent tool for getting responses in a timely manner. That said, most state taxing departments and the IRS will not accept a document, such as a Power of Attorney or financial form, that has not been ink-signed.
We agree that there is always room for improvement and we appreciate working with you toward a successful case resolution. If I can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to let me know.
Thanks.

In my initial research I found all to be very positive... as to how existing clients were able to settle their tax debt with the IRS. The representative I met with was professional and thorough. I have no reason to believe that my end result working with this firm will be any different than others before me.
Hi Marshall,

I have retained them in Sept of 2018. I owed the IRS 19.000 dollars. I gave the 2500 dollars and pay 400 dollars a month. The IRS is garnishing my paycheck for 1099 dollars every 2 weeks. As of today I have paid over 16.000 dollars between the IRS and Wall and Associates. All I ever get from them is send more papers. I have sent all that I can send and I'm not getting NOTHING resolved. In my initial meeting with them before I retained the I was promised my garnishment would be taken care of in 48 hours, it is 5 months now and I still pay the IRS 1099 every two weeks. I got a request for a power of attorney in Jan of 2019, that is something that should have been requested in the beginning knowing that they would need it.
I sent a email today requesting to speak to a manager or director and I was told that I would have to speak to the team handling my case only. I went on the BBB website and seen that the same stuff they are doing to me Many have claimed that on the BBB website. I think I'm being scammed and I will not stand for it. I have people involved with TV and radio and if I don't get a resolution They will hear from me. The lady working with me is very polite and seems like she is really working hard on my case, but nothing is happening. In a couple of months I will have paid the full 19,000 dollars to the IRS, so what have Wall and Associates done?? I didn't do my research before dealing with them and for that I truly regret it.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to our office. Your casework manager will be contacting you to address your concerns and see what help they can provide.
We consider each client to be an essential part of our team and take their concerns very seriously.
We did want to ask you to reference the letter sent to you with the "additional" power of attorney forms. The cover letter denotes these as "additional" forms. You signed an initial power of attorney when you met with our local representative and these were already processed with the IRS on the first day of your case with our office.

He was able to clearly explain the process that we would be going through, and was able to answer all of the questions that we had. I have since been in contact with the team that will be dealing directly with the IRS and State Tax officials, and feel confident going forwards that our issues will be resolved over the coming months.

Everything went well, all except pricing. Did let interviewer know that I would get back to him. I had told him that I owed around 450000 so he wanted me to come up with 45 thousand which is more than I can come up at the current time. And also I think I may only owe about 375 thousand but if with that I would still be unable to come up with large lump sum. I would at this time need it broken up in monthly payments. Other than that I like everything he said your company is able to do.

I am updating this review to 3 stars and marking resolved. Regardless of the review I am happy I got a response and the folks at W&A are willing to clarify and help resolve issues.
Original Review: Jan. 21, 2019
I met with one of their sales rep in Pittsburg late last year. I went with a friend (let's call him/her "Person A") who also had some issues to be resolved which was great because we would go into this with two perspectives and ensure we do not make false judgments. After meeting with what I would consider to be their salesperson, I explained my situation and he quoted me $5,000 and $500/mo. He quoted my friend double because he was filing jointly with his wife. He mentioned to me that my current IRS tax payments would stop immediately once I retained their services. Personally, this was a good deal for me because I had saved up the money to hire an attorney for 2 years and if the IRS payments would stop immediately (which is @ $500 per month), then I would not incur any additional costs to retain them as those would cancel out. I had explain this was very important to me.
That said, I had pre-paid a month of service and week later noticed the IRS was still taking money out of my account. After bringing this to the attention of my representative at the firm, she mentioned that she could have the IRS switch the payment method to paper so it would come in the mail and I could simply not pay it. This was not the answer I was expecting and I feel duped. If I was told the automatic payments would stop, I shouldn't be offered the alternative of switching to paper and not paying after the fact. This is false advertising.
After consulting with person A, I had learned that the firm was willing to discount $1k of the initial $5k fee if the customer provided all of their tax records. This was upsetting because I had actually provided them with a full collection of my tax records, in digital format. Including Wage and Earning Statements, Account Transcripts, 1040s, Bank Accounts, you name it. Feeling duped again as no one has reached out about this to me. Seems like they are not leveling the playing field when it comes to how they sell to clients.
Now that the government has been closed almost a month and my next monthly fee is due soon, I had called my representative mid-Jan and asked what the status was since, the government was closed. According to my accountant, no one is picking up the phone at the IRS. I asked if there was no traction because the government is closed, could we pause the service and the monthly fee until it reopens. Especially that I am still paying the IRS and that has not been resolved yet. She mentioned that they could just work on my state returns and proceeded to mail me a copy of state power of attorneys. So my question is, why wait until I have to call to request this in order to proceed with the case? What did they do the 20 days the government has already been shut down. I am feeling duped yet another time.
Now, I will admit I am a little biased. I am currently filing a grievance with the NY Bar against an attorney who represented me in a landlord case. He threatened to sue me 3 times after I wouldn't pay an error on a bill weeks later, after I had already paid the bill. He tried to charge me $400 more for that month because they "forgot" to enter some hours in the system. Luckily for me I am a contractor and read them thoroughly and learned that his billing was in breach of his own contract.
Sorry for the lengthy review but I am not feeling very confident in the abilities of this firm. I would suggest, as many of you have, the following: If possible, avoid firms. If you must use one, keep all communication to email. Do not sign anything unless you first receive a copy of it by email and never, ever agree to anything you are not sure about by phone. If you can, avoid phone calls altogether unless absolutely necessary. Never sign anything unless you have at least one friend read it with you as well. I can't express how important this is.
When possible, bring a decoy to meet with an attorney before you sign up. Having a friend with me was a good decision because we could compare our experiences and really understand whether we are being duped or the service is legit. Person A went with a one lawyer firm as more of an intimate and local relationship was preferred. Review the lawyer who will be representing you. If you go with a firm get the name of the attorney who will be representing you before you sign anything. As you read through the reviews at the very minimum keep in mind one thing, if the lawyer has stellar reviews, walk away it's not realistic. I have noticed that many lawyers are more worried about their reviews than the quality of service they actually provide their customers.
I don't mean to demonize lawyers, not all are bad and there are some really great ones out there. Hope this helps anyone looking to get their financial life back on track. P.S. One last thing...I am reviewing Wall & Associates, but the email addresses of my team are all **. Very confusing and someone at the firm should clarify this.
Hi Raymond,
We've requested your caseworker reach out to you to go over your case with you directly.
To clarify a few points. Our office does not offer clients the discount you describe. The initial fee is the initial fee. Our office does negotiate the amount of the initial fee relative to the required ongoing monthly fee with clients to help them better afford our services
Our office had previously sent you state Power of Attorney forms in November 2018 but they had yet to be returned to our office. Our office requested them on the 15th because we still needed them back from you.
Prior to your communication with us on the 15th our office used the intervening time during the shutdown to update your financial statement with information you had provided to us previously.
If you want to speak with a member of our office for immediate assistance please feel free to reach out to us at 800-989-5911. Otherwise, expect a call from our office shortly.

We have had a tax problem due to lack of money. We got so far behind that there has been many sleepless nights. One day my husband decided to find someone that could help us get this problem under control and maybe see the light at the end of the tunnel. The phone call was made and we went to meet with a representative. Leaving the office we felt as if we had made a good step forward with relief in the future. Since we have been working on the problems, all of the Associates we are in contact with helping us understand that the problem didn't happen in a day and we will have the issues solved, but it will take time. We are assured that everyone is working hard to help resolve all the matters and one day we will be able to keep all the taxes up and sleep at night.
This company has made us feel we are not just a name, but we are important to them and they are working hard to help us. My point is through this until we became involved with Wall & Associates we felt as if we never would be able to have peace of mind back or a normal life. Let me say I will never be able to tell them just how much we appreciate them and all that they are doing for us. Anyone that would need this kind of help, I urge you to call them and set in a meeting with them, let them explain things they are they are way more experienced with.
Hi Deborah,
Thanks for your kind words. We all look forward to getting this resolved for you! If you ever have a question, comment, or want to let us know something don't hesitate to reach out.

I have been paying Wall and Associates a monthly fee now for over half a year to resolve a tax error made by my State. There has been no resolution and no timeline. I am still receiving letters from creditors despite W&A's insisting that they are now officially my POC for collection from the State. As far as I can tell, they have not blatantly lied to me, but I wonder if I have made a mistake in trusting them. After a little research I have learned that there is a lawsuit filed against them by the State of Virginia for misrepresenting their abilities to customers. I highly recommend that if you are considering their services, that you seek an actual lawyer instead. You will pay about the same in the end, and you may actually receive results, rather than bills and excuses.

We entered into a contract with a Wall and Associates to have professional help in lowering our tax liability on $50,000 in back taxes owed to the IRS. After paying $2,500 down and 16 months of $350.00 payments we ended our contact with them. At the Of termination they still had the incorrect Social Security number for my spouse and I ( they had them reversed). We had a Federal lien on our home pending and there was no resolution in sight. They assign you to a Team of specialist (not lawyers) who are supposed to work for you... At termination OUR Team had changed several times and at the end we had no idea who OUR CURRENT TEAM WAS.
We were led to believe they had an office local to us which was actually only an office they say to have your initial consultation and to sign your contract. We live in Ohio and the Company is in Virginia. Communication is either by phone, e-mail or “snail mail” and faxes. The one time we asked for a personal face to face we were told that this would cost an additional amount of money because the only face to face is initially. We also over the 17 months repeatedly informed them that they had the SS# reversed.
They would mail new documents and I would fax back the corrected information (3 times) and still was not corrected. They also asked for the same documents and information repeatedly (bank statements, income verification and financial disclosures etc) which would re-fax along with the updates (40 plus pages at a time which gets to be expensive if you don’t have personal faxing). Several times we were given incorrect fax number. It wasn’t OUR Team’s fax # so we would pay to return-fax again.
The one and only offer we were given was to Pay the IRS $800 a month (the interest would continue to build till the back taxes were paid and remain current in all new tax years. If we failed to do so then the “agreement" would have been nullified and all penalties would be re-instated. We did not agreed to this because we knew we would not be able to maintain such an agreement. (We can’t even afford to buy Health Insurance for my husband (self -employed) and I receive SSD so we knew we could not afford $800.00 a month).
At termination we were no further ahead than when we entered into contract. Actually we were worse off because the $8,000 plus we paid to this company could have been paid to the IRS instead. Or we could have used The $ 350.00 Monthly fee and bought some type form of Health Ins for my husband. Another error on Our Part is in not reading all the fine print in the contract. Which states that Wall and Associates are not obligated to show documentation on how the money you pay them is Spent. This we discovered when we requested a itemized bill.
***One final IMPORTANT NOTE there is a Current Federal Lawsuit against Wall and Associates by The Commonwealth of Virginia (the state where this company is located) in September of 2017. This Lawsuit was brought against this company due to misrepresentation to the people they contract with listing many of the issues I have in my review. (Google it.) Yet at the date of this review they are still in Business.
We will be contacting the Commonwealth of Virginia in regards to their Federal Lawsuit. With any luck maybe someday we will be compensated a few pennies on the dollar for Our Losses to Wall and Associates. Which will probably be a long time in coming as Wall and Associates fights this Lawsuit, more than likely using the money they are getting from other misinformed consumers “ suckers” such as us. (Pardon Any typo or grammatical errors, please).
Hi Valerie.
We apologize for any inconvenience. Our office doesn't utilize line-item billing so we are incapable of providing anyone the type of information you requested. Our monthly fee covers all case aspects and all required work so it would be counterproductive to have two different types of billing systems in place.

Updated on 12/07/2018: So Wall and Associates responded to my comment and review with a common saying if your car had transmission troubles you wouldn't replace your own transmission. It would take someone with experience but at least if my car had transmission troubles and I took it to a transmission shop they would fix the problem. They would not keep the car for years and make you pay every month and not fix it. So for them to compare my case with a car transmission should just go to show you what kind of company they are.
I don't think I have anything more to say besides they are scammers and they know it and you will too if you deal with them. Save your money. If these guys were a transmission shop they would still have my car with no transmission telling me they're waiting on the parts. If you don't believe me and all the other people that have wrote a review go ahead and deal with them and you can add to this list a reviews when you're done with them and out thousands of dollars.
Original Review: Wall and Associates is a scam. They promise you the world and deliver nothing all. The bad reviews that you read about these guys are true. It is the same story I have that we all have. They make it look like it was your fault that they did not get something done. I had got a letter from the IRS saying that Wall and Associates had an unauthorized third party to show up to my phone conference. I asked Wall and Associates about that. They didn't really have anything to say. I talk to the IRS about Wall and Associates.
The IRS says there is not a company out there that can do anything that you can't do yourself. They are required to take the same steps as you. They have no power or a magic wand to demolish your tax debt. Save your money. Get on the payment plan with the IRS and they will leave you alone as long as you make your payment. These people are a complete joke and they know it. I don't know how they get away with doing what they do but if you use Wall and Associates you will get scammed.
Hi Mike,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to our office via ConsumerAffairs. If you want to speak with someone at our office regarding your concerns feel free to call us at (800) 989-5911.
You're right. The work our office performs can be performed by any individual working on behalf of themselves. To give another example - any individual can also replace their own vehicle's transmission. The catch is that experience comes into play and just because you can do something doesn't necessarily mean you have the knowledge and experience to do so correctly. It's the same way with the IRS and they use this lack of knowledge to their benefit.
Payment plans are valuable tools with the IRS and they serve their own particular function. The catch that the IRS won't tell you is that interest, penalties, and then penalties-on-interest continue to increase your balance as you work to pay it off. We've seen cases where people will never pay off a balance because the interest is generating faster than their payments are paying it down. Sure - the IRS will leave you alone - but you'll never be clear of the debt.
Thanks.

When I received a letter from Wall & Associates, I knew they were the real deal because of the points they outlined in their letter. We had made every one of those mistakes when dealings with the IRS. The IRS specializes in NOT giving you all of the information you need. If you do not know to ask a specific question, they do not volunteer it. If you haven’t already figured it out, the IRS is not interested in cutting you a deal. All they care about is making sure you pay their exorbitant interest and fees, knowing you will sooner or later default because there is no way to actually pay off what you owe unless you win the lottery. When you default on their agreement, this is when life becomes a living hell because they turn up the heat.
After having our face-to-face meeting with Greg from Wall & Associates, I knew we were in safe, capable hands. INTEGRITY is everything to me and Wall & Associates have it in droves! They kept it real with us and told us about all of our available options. They told us all of the scenarios… the good, the bad, the ugly. They didn’t require $1,000 retainer like the other firms you hear advertising on radio and TV. They are not scammers! The initial outlay is on them. They give you FREE time, without cost to you, to have a sit-down to fully go through your situation in its entirety. Their fees are not onerous because they work out a plan that you can handle, while they haggle with the IRS on your behalf. The best part of it, while they’re fighting for you, no more hassles from the IRS. No more letters, phone calls, etc.
I would not and cannot recommend any other firm except WALL & ASSOCIATES. THEY SHOULD BE YOUR ONLY CALL, but don't take my word for it. Get a face-to-face consult for yourself and you will see what I’m talking about. When I think of Wall & Associates, only TWO WORDS comes to mind. INTEGRITY and PEACE! Integrity because they do what they say they’re going to do. They are dependable. Peace, because your life becomes peaceful when you let them represent you. They are the only one I recommend to everyone. I am so glad to have found Wall & Associates, I can’t say it enough. If you want REAL results without the hassles and the nickel and diming that other companies do, call Wall & Associates today and Chris will hook you up **. You will not regret it!

I initially contacted Wall & Assoc back in the fall of 2013. I was in desperate need of their help. I owed on 5 years of back taxes. Approx $16,000 not a lot by many standards. It was a long process and many offer in compromises were made. The team at Wall & Assoc stuck with it and finally in the summer of 2018 the IRS accepted my offer to them and it was a fraction of the total left to be paid. Thank you Wall & Assoc, I am glad I contact your firm to help me and I would recommend you to anyone who might need your help, like I did.

I had actually paid $34,000, the principal amount, over 6 years, and still owed $34,000 due to interest & penalty charged by IRS. Needless to say, we never saw the salesman again and we have only been able to speak to a "tax specialist" on the phone once after almost a year of phone tag. Hi Lori,

Unfortunately, as you are aware, we can make no guarantees that our efforts will result in a ultimate reduction to your tax liability. We do try as hard as we can to make that a reality, but sometimes that isn't possible.

Wall & Associates became my representative and immediately went into action to assist me from wage garnishments, levies and liens, relieving a ton of stress and anxiety. Wall & Associates kept me informed on the process, worked with the State for me, and were able to get an Offer in Compromise with the Federal Government, which was incredible! I Highly recommend Wall & Associates with any Tax needs, and I appreciate everything they have done for me!

I was first introduced to Wall & Associates by a friend who knew their representative in Dallas. We met in a rented single-room office in January of 2013. After hearing his pitch, I felt good enough to give them a $6,500 downpayment and agreed to pay $350/month until the case was resolved. When they requested information from me, I usually got it to them within two weeks (at the outside). Over the years, it typically took them about six months to fill out the forms (433 and 656A) that take me about 6 hours when I do it myself.
The only thing they were prompt about was dinging my bank account every month for $350. They always said that the offer should be $1, and that they could adjust the amount in negotiations after the offer was rejected. THERE WERE NEVER ANY NEGOTIATIONS!!! Yet they recommended doing the same thing over and over. Remember Einstein’s definition of insanity? Things came to a head when, in June 2016, after paying them over $20,000 in total, they were sent a request for additional information, which they forwarded to me. I got them the information well ahead of the IRS deadline. But they failed to file it by the IRS deadline (which even got extended once).
I received a letter from the IRS, notifying me that the offer was closed without being considered. When I spoke to the agent, She told me that the offer was closed because the deadline was July 22nd, and they did not receive the information until August 2nd. I guess W&A felt guilty, because they offered to represent me for free through the next filing. So I didn’t fire them then. But it was always the same – offer $1, we’ll fix it in negotiations, then there were never negotiations. Finally they tried charging me again. I had learned from my insanity, and fired them. A Wall & Associates representative insisted they had done nothing wrong, which contradicted what the IRS agent told me. Sadly, at this point, I am more inclined to believe the IRS than these “attorneys,” whom I believe to be money-grubbing liars.
Hi William,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out. As you are fully aware our office agreed to work with you on the monthly fees payable to our office because it was the right thing to do. We wanted to make sure your tax matter was addressed and that it would ultimately prove to be a cost benefit for you.
Afterward our office did send in another IRS offer. This offer was subsequently closed due to your failure to timely file an IRS Form 1040 or extension by the April 2018 deadline. Per the terms of our discussions with you, monthly billing was due to resume after our office had worked an additional offer. When we contacted you to re-establish the agreed to monthly fees you subsequently ended services with us and did not allow us to address your tax matter further.

I retained their services in 2016. Mr. Mark ** met with me in a rented office in Fort Myers Florida. He reviewed my tax documents and assured me it was a fairly simple case. Then proceeded to ask for $3000.00. I gave him a check then had to sign up for $400 per month. From there on after I was constantly sent repetitious letters from all sorts of people. After 24 months and $12,600 later I finally called and demanded answers. Amazingly nobody was available to answer my questions?
Later that day I received a phone call from the most obnoxious person I have ever spoken with. She informed that Wall & Associates would not be representing me anymore and I had no “no chance” of a refund. After finding hundreds of very similar complaints on the internet, I have no choice but to pursue legal action. Fortunately I am a licensed investigator!
Hi Keith,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us and explain your frustrations. Per the terms of our agreement with you we invoked our right to cease representation services on your behalf on September 27, 2018. Our office does not tolerate abusive comments toward our staff and employees. After a careful review of the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident we determined that further representation services would not be extended to you.
During the course of your case you have failed to adhere to the terms of our administrative tax controversy agreement by failing to remit to our office financial information needed in the timely resolution of your case.

Do not retain these people. Our first phone call was the sales pitch of a lifetime. We were told that 90% of their clients settled for 10% or less of their bill because Wall had a great relationship with the IRS. Our consultation meeting was more of the same. Duane told us that we were small potatoes to the IRS and that our assigned team would be able to settle this for a fraction of the bill. We told him we wanted to settle and that we did not want to dispute this any longer. He told us this would be taken care of in around 6 months. We put down $5000 and started our $400 per month payments. All the while, we were transferred to different team members and were asked for the same information over and over again.
I contacted the IRS and they told me that they were never contacted by Wall. We asked for actual communication from Wall to the IRS and they only came up with one communication over a year and a half time frame. We have asked for our money back and were told no refunds. These people did no actual work and just delayed everything we asked for in order to get our $400 per month. You would be better off communicating directly with the IRS and you would also save a bunch of money.
Hi Ron,
As various staff in our office have reported to you directly, we require you maintain communication with us so that we can perform the functions you hired us to perform. Our office only received documentation to begin a financial review of your case after making repeated requests for it. Furthermore, you failed to maintain appropriate contact with our office. We attempted to reach you unsuccessfully on numerous occasions via phone.
The terms of the agreement you signed with our office dictate that you agree to provide our office information in a timely manner and agree to maintain consistent communication with our office. Due to the fact the delays on your case were not attributable to a failure on the part of our staff to make reasonable attempts to reach you, your request for a refund was denied.
Furthermore, it appears on several occasions you asked for a summary which detailed the work we had performed on your case - these were provided to you - so you were informed of the work our office was performing on your account and of our attempts at addressing your tax matter.
Should you require anything further we do encourage you to reach out to our office directly at (800) 989-5911.

NOT EVEN 1 STAR---Do not do business with this company. My husband and I met the representative in Tucson Arizona at what we thought was their office. After explaining to the representative that we had not been able to file taxes for 4 years he told us that they would be more than happy to do the work for us with the IRS and if by chance our case was not a substantial amount due to the IRS that the $1,500 deposit we put down would more than likely be refunded. Come to find out we owe the IRS $680 and when I spoke to the representative at the main office asking for a partial refund because they did do a few phone calls and send out power of attorney letters for one month he explained to me that that's not how it works and there would be no refund under any circumstance. Sorry.
This is a bogus company. Do not give them money. Do not work with them. There's a lot more to it but I can't go into it otherwise it would take up the whole Facebook page. Needless to say they convince you that you may owe the IRS thousands of dollars when you do get your returns back and find out that it is less than $1,000 they will not stick up to what they said which was a refund and I only ask for a partial refund knowing that they had done one month's worth of work. Again this is a scam company. Do not give your hard-earned money to them.

I didn't realize Wall & Associates had a "D" rating, but now I can see why! I read through many, many reviews and most of them sounded just like my disappointing experience. When I initially visited my local office I thought this was great. I'll be able to check in and see what's going on with our case; and if there was a problem or a specific question they're only a few miles away. The gentleman I spoke with (Edward **) really put my mind at ease by telling me how they were able to help people settle their tax debt that owed much more than we did and with the skills and knowledge of an entire team working together at our disposal we'll be fine. Just give them a few months to get all the needed info and they'll be in contact with us. So after the initial pymt $2000.00 we were told just call him if we had ANY questions during this process.
We talked with him once, shortly, after realizing that this team was out of state, and after that could never get a return phone call or email from him. The team members changed every other month; just when we would get all the needed forms completed and tax info they needed we wouldn't hear anything for about a month or so; and when we called them the previous team member we were working with was no longer with the company and we pretty much had to start over again. Well, this went on back and forth same story for about 16 months. I called and complained and they did reduce a month because they saw where they made another mistake re-sending the same paperwork back and forth. The only thing that was constant with this company was the billing department!!
Hello Sandy,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us. In reviewing your account it appears that your son, our client, was missing his 2013 tax return. This missing return and the issues involving the Form 8962 for tax year 2016 prevented our office from submitting an offer on your son's behalf prior to your son's account being closed for non-payment. You were aware of these issues as they were communicated to you via our staff.
Due to IRS delays in processing the IRS Form 8962, our office as a customer service gesture, not only reduced your billing but also waived 4 months of fees and deferred an additional month. Our office granted a lot of fee consideration because we care about you and your son's situation and wanted to work with you, as much as possible, in seeing the issue resolved satisfactorily.
Additionally, you know that our office was in frequent contact with you regarding your son's case. There are notes detailing these conversations so it is not true that the only consistent communication you received was from our billing department.

I hired W&A in March 2015. Three years later and over $22,000 my final hearing on our OIC resulted in FULL PAYMENT plus the additional $20,000 in interest that accrued. I know interest was accruing but I at the very least expected my penalties and interest to be removed. My "team" changed four times over the 3 years and I never knew who was working on it, if at all. I now have an IRS payment of $1500 a month that I cannot afford. This is not the outcome I was promised. Yes, I was PROMISED in my initial consultation. Now what do I do?
We apologize for your experience. Our office is going to have someone from our Client Services Group call you to go over any concerns you have.
Respectfully, your account did not generate $20,000 in interest over the last 3 years. The additional tax balances you continued to generate on the filing of your 1040 tax returns for 2014, 2015, and 2016 comprised around $14,000 of that amount.
Our office is unable to guarantee specific results related to our tax representation services. When dealing with a third party agency like the IRS it is simply impossible to do so.
Furthermore, as you are aware, our office submitted your offer to the IRS in May of 2017 and it took the IRS a year to give us all a final answer to it. Admittedly, an answer neither of us wanted, which is why we fought very hard on your behalf during the IRS Appeals hearing.
To protect YOUR interests and to prevent aggressive collection action in the form of levies our office did set you up on an installment agreement. We felt guaranteed payments in lieu of unexpected garnishments or bank account seizures was the most prudent and responsible option to take on your behalf.
Installment agreements can be modified if necessary to reflect a taxpayer's ability to repay and it may be possible to have the one you are on lowered.
If you would like to speak to someone to address your concerns immediately I do encourage you to call us at (800) 989-5911.

Wall said they would stop that and get the money put back in our account. We paid them a $5000 fee in Feb of 2017, and $450 per month after that. We sent them all of the documents they asked for, but they never contacted the state until May of 2017. Every time we would call our case workers, who were different every time, they just told us they are getting very close on settlement.
The state never received any type of correspondence from them, on any type of settlement. We stopped paying the monthly fee after Nov of 2017, as they were not earning their money. We immediately started getting letters, phone calls and threats of nonpayment from them. We must have gotten their attention. Several strikes against Wall & Associates. At the first meeting before hiring them we were given the impression that they were a local firm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but later learned that was not the case. I have not received my files that I gave them to copy and returned. I have contacted them about the files whereabouts and they cannot find them. They are not very knowledgeable of the IRS tax laws of the allowable deductions. After paying them $4,200 and four months later, they do not have a plan of action. I hired another firm and they have an action plan and asked for more information in order to settle with the IRS. They told me of several different options that may be available to me. They have been in constant contact with updates concerning my case.
I contacted Wall and asked for a full refund of my money due to lack of knowledge and action. Wall refused to refund my $4,200 so I have no other recourse than to turn them into the Virginia State Attorney General for further action. I am writing this review because I am very very unhappy with Wall's inaction and refusal to refund the $4200 I paid them.

We reached out to Wall & Associates, Inc. after having issues with the IRS because of our last "accountant". We owed them roughly $20,000. After our first interview with Wall & Associates, Inc. we were promised that the total we would owe to both the IRS and Wall & Associates, Inc. combined would be no more than $5,000. We were also told that the work wouldn't take more than a few months. After 6 months we paid them $4,900 and still owed the IRS $16,000. We ended up owing more than before and they said nothing more could be done. After contacting the IRS, we were able to reduce the penalty by an additional $3,000 ourselves almost instantly. The company is absolutely useless and a complete waste of time and money.

Same mantra over and over again. They lie and delay, keep asking for more money or they will put a "work stop" on my case. Wall is a fraud. Do not hire them. Judging from the past reviews and the BBB complaints, I am forced to seek tax council elsewhere since they will not refund my money. In June, 2016 I gave this firm a $5000 deposit based on assurances that my tax situation would most likely be settled in 6-12 months for about 10% of what was owed. I paid an additional monthly fee of $350 for 15 more months as I watched the penalties and interest on the audit increase. I finally broke off my association with Wall & Associates in early November of 2017.
In my opinion they totally misrepresented themselves to me and mislead me to believe that my IRS audits (2013, 2014) would be handled and any liabilities would be reduced. I recently sent the IRS over $8300 (from an initial audit amount of $6800 for 2013) and I have reached out to the IRS to find out where my liability for 2014 stands since Wall does not keep you in the loop on many issues. If this firm did not have the ability and skill sets to really reduce my IRS penalty they should have had the professional courtesy and decency to tell me early on that they could not help me. Do NOT hire this firm. All they will do is take your monthly fee (gladly) and tell you they're IN PROGRESS working on your case.
Our office apologizes for you experience. You initially came to our office in relation to an ongoing audit for tax year 2013. While this audit was concluding the IRS opened an audit on tax year 2014 as well. Naturally, this extended the time your case would take.
It appears your team was working to request the IRS abatement the applicable penalties associated with the audits for both tax years 2013 and 2014 and ultimately resolve your case, but you ended services prior to our office being able to complete the work.
Other tax resolution companies typically charge an additional fee to work an additional audit as the workload effectively doubles Our fees cover any IRS issues that have currently arisen or any that arise during our handling of your case.

My husband and I paid Wall and Associates over $12,000 during a year and half period. They were to work on our case with IRS and the State of Missouri. We tried to tell them that we didn't owe the state at all but they wouldn't listen. I just kept sending them copies of pay stubs, bank statements and filling out a form of our monthly expenses. I did this every 4 months.
Every time I called to speak to one of my case managers they were never available. They always took a message for them to call me back. In fact, if I didnt call them I really didnt hear from them unless the IRS wanted something new. After they took my case the IRS along with the State of Missouri began to garnish my husband's wages. Twice the IRS took all of my disability check during Nov and Dec. My case managers said they talked to IRS and they werent willing to release the garnishment on my disability.
I took it upon myself and called the Revenue Officer but she was out of the office. I then spoke to her manager and explained the hardship that taking my entire check was putting on our family especially since the IRS and State of Missouri were already getting over 50% of my husband's check. The IRS then released the garnishment on my disability check. My husband and I were in worse shape after hiring Wall & Associates. Eventually we quit paying them because we werent seeing any results. We hired them because they came out to our house after we responded to a letter they wrote us. A gentlemen came out and said our case might be a little difficult but that's what they do is work on difficult cases. He said the IRS would take our home, seize our bank account, garnish our wages etc.
We were scared and I have cancer going through treatment. After we stop paying them we received a letter that stated they were no longer working on our case. We then hired someone else and within 5 weeks of working on our case they got the State of Missouri debt wiped out because we didnt owe it in the first place and the State of Missouri garnishment released. If Wall and Associates had of listened to us the garnishment would of never taken place. Therefore, Wall and Associates cost us $3,000.
We weren't able to get a refund because we owed the IRS so IRS got that money. We feel like Wall & ASSOCIATES took advantage of us because we were so stressed and worried about what they said the IRS would and could do. We never got any results from Wall & Associates and we just dont want anyone else to be taken advantage of. We asked for a partial refund and it was denied because they said they did a lot of work on this case. If they did so much work then why didnt we see any results. Since Wall and Associates used scare tactics about the IRS we feel that we were scammed and that as long as we were paying them we got nothing but lip service. We feel they should be investigated.
Our office apologizes for your experience, but unfortunately after reviewing your case a refund was not an option. Several individuals within our company reviewed this and the opinion was unanimous. An immense amount of work had taken place in regards to addressing the multiple sources of liability present on your account. Our office encourages you to review the 11 page case summary our office provided regarding the actions on your case.

Updated review: Oct. 31, 2017
After this posting, Wall and Associates did reach out to me to resolve this situation. We came to an agreement and it has been resolved.
Original Review: Sept. 8, 2017
I hired Wall & Associates in 2010 to help me deal with a tax lien. I was desperate and had no luck trying to deal with the IRS myself. I paid Wall & Associates $400 a month for 6 years - that's $24,000, then $300 a month for another year ($3,600). The reason the monthly fee was reduced was because they screwed up and missed a deadline, causing the last offer in compromise to be tossed out by the IRS and it had to be refiled. I requested a decrease in their fees.
They act like they're doing something for you but months (and years) can go by and they're doing nothing, not even talking to the IRS. When they submitted the offers to the IRS (apparently they only made 3 attempts in 7 years) the information sent to the IRS was sparse, inaccurate and ultimately rejected by the IRS. They gave me advice on how to have the next offer accepted. I did all of those things (and more) and still they could not get a compromise approved by the IRS.
This spring I reached a level of frustration because they couldn't get any action from the IRS and I needed a decision because I could FINALLY refinance a house and pay the tax lien. The offer had been submitted in December 2016 and the IRS was still kicking it around in June 2017. They have zero influence there. So after 7 years I'm out about $27,000. My tax bill was only $29,000 so by this time I could have paid the IRS off at $400 a month.
Here's the real kicker. After paying $27,000 to Wall, my tax bill (with interest and penalties) is now up to $45,000. Those delays from both Wall and the IRS added up. So, I'm out $72,000 over what was a $29,000 tax bill. When I terminated my relationship with them I asked how they would compensate me for this total waste of money - no response. Customer Service never called back. If Wall & Associates didn't think they could help me, they shouldn't have accepted me as a client. I called my Senator's office for help with the IRS and they flat out told me I should have called them for help earlier and these types of companies just rip you off. They sure did. I would not recommend their services to anyone. You need help with the IRS? Call your Senator's office. They'll help for free.
Our office apologizes for your experience. As you state our office did make several attempts at working through an offer in compromise with you. When your case was assigned to us your balance owed was $43,688 not $29,000. Additionally, our office did maintain communication with the IRS.
We want to work with you and address any concerns you may have. If you want to discuss specific matters related to your please give us a call at (800) 989-5911.

It is a D rating and they have a ton of complaints. This company is a scam and someone to watch out for with help on past due taxes. They just take your money and take their time and do not do their jobs. Do yourself a favor and search on BBB for the best ratings and find someone in your state to help you as each state has different laws on taxes. This company took $6700 of our money since December 2016 to August 2017. We finally fired them and found a local tax attorney that will handle our case by the hour not on a ridiculous monthly contract and initial deposit fee. Ask around and do your research if you value your money and time.

Wall and Associates has no screening process in place to ascertain whether or not they can help any of the clients who agree to pay them. Anyone who is as unfortunate and foolish as I was will find this out several months into paying them. I signed a contract with Wall and Associates in August of 2015. I owed the federal government roughly $7000. I ended up paying Wall and Associates $7600. They literally mailed two letters and made two phone calls to the IRS for me, nothing more. I ended up losing nearly $8000. I still owe the IRS every cent that I ever did.
They use a tactic of passing their clients off to different points of contact throughout their office personnel. This is a way of subverting continuity and keeping the client in a position to hear a fresh voice reassuring them that the case is being worked on and that their hard earned money is going towards a practical purpose. It is not. It is highway robbery and it should be illegal.
During the entire length of my contract with this so called firm, I continuously expressed concerns that the tab was adding up to be what I originally owed the IRS. I began requesting weekly conference calls, weekly emails, and some type of charting that would show a linear progression as to what this company had done for me. I was constantly dodged. I was constantly put on hold and told no one on my case team was available when I called. And when I did finally reach a client services representative or my case team manager, it would be someone new that I hadn't talked to before. They would assure me that the whole purpose of their business was to make sure that you didn't pay them more than you originally owed the IRS. I foolishly assumed that if all else failed they would at least return my money to me.
When I finally requested my money back, after I had spoken to the IRS directly, I was told that because considerations had been previously made for me and that the case team had spent so much time working on my case I would not be receiving a refund. They had froze my billing on two different occasions due to my complaints. These were the considerations they were referring to (even though I still paid them more money than I actually owed the IRS). And as far as all of the supposed time they spent on me, the IRS had very little correspondence from them.
This company is a fraud. They have absolutely no ethics and engage in negligent and borderline criminal business practices. I am most interested in speaking to anybody who finds this information valuable and validating all of my grievances. I'm interested in talking to anybody else who reads this post and has had similar experiences. I would like to know if any legal measures have been previously taken against this firm and where they stand.

My name is Mary ** and I am client of Wall and Associates. Mandy ** was my main case worker. I received my offer and compromise and my case has been closed recently. We settled out for one dollar. The case went on for around a year and a half and was not certain how it was going to end but finally has been completed in my favor. It is a huge relief and nice to have a fresh start. I am very pleased with the service provided for me by Mandi and the entire Wall and Associates company.

They said that they were going to help us out. They took away the payments, but now it's going to be another probably 6 months before they could fix it. I would recommend them at least for trying to help us out, but now we're going to have to pay still 2% of what they say. We've already paid off one year that they were supposed to help us with.

This is the worst company known to man. Been paying them for 3 years for them to do our 2011 and 2012. We ended up paying all of 2011 off before they could do anything. We are still paying and when you talk to them they pretty much call you a liar. They are just dragging this out for their last penny and then when settled they will want more money so please everyone don't hire this company. Worst company ever. They don't help. They take their time and you pay at the end what you owed the IRS so find a different company than this one. Read all the reviews before hiring them.

My husband and I were faced with a letter from the IRS claiming we owed a huge amount of taxes for a prior year. This was something neither of us have ever had to contend with. Our initial meeting with a financial consultant was helpful and very reassuring. After that, due to the holiday season (right before Thanksgiving), things seem to come to a halt, but we were still paying fees. However, after recontacting the first consultant, we were put in contact with a wonderful man; **. He took the reigns, took total control and everything was on the upswing from that. He was extremely personable, knowledgeable, helpful and effective. He along with ** in the financial dept, were our saving graces in this whole mess. Bottom line; they got it completely cleared up to where we owed $0.00. Thanks ** & **.

Do you know how much my parents have paid Wall and Associates over the last 5 years? Almost $23,000! You know what Wall and Associates has done for them? Nothing. They wait until the 7 years have passed and the taxes have fallen off and then file the wrong information, never return calls. When my parents have called them out on the things they put out wrong (such as saying my Dad is still working though he is about to lose his foot and cannot work) or trying to settle on years that have already fallen off, the lady my mom is working with states a Customer Support person will call them. He calls and listens to my mom's concerns then says "great, I will call you at my earliest convenience". Wait, what? His earliest convenience? When is this going to be settled? Wall hasn't helped my parents solve anything.
They are living Social Security Check to Social Security Check, we are trying to help subsidize groceries for them and Wall just keeps taking their $400 a month. $400 a month could pay my parents groceries. When is someone going to help them and stop taking the elderly for a ride!?! I am so frustrated I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am with this company and the fact no one seems to want to help my parents. The only thing Wall has shown us to be good at so far is taking my parents $400 monthly payment!
Our office would like to state that ultimately we worked and had an IRS offer accepted for $100 on our client's remaining IRS liability. The original individual who posted this review was a daughter of one of our clients and not an actual client.
Original Response:In response to this individual's concerns our office would like to state that we are unable to directly respond due to the fact the individual posting this review is not a client of our office.
It appears the poster is referencing Collection Statute Expiration Dates (CSEDs) in their post. IRS CSEDs are 10 years, not seven.

Wall & Associates are either frauds or inept at tax representation, either way they are a waste of money. Wall are experts at double speak, giving customers the run-around, and taking money. Each time I called, I got a new employee who knew little to nothing about tax law. I never got to speak to the attorney who was supposedly representing me. In the meantime, I accrued IRS penalties and fines that Wall said I wouldn't have to pay because they had submitted paperwork on my behalf. I have a feeling the 8 other reviews on this site are submitted by their employees. Check out the Better Business Bureau for a fuller set of reviews about Wall.

Initially Jennie ** told us to be very cautious of all other bankruptcy attorneys as they would offer to manage our bankruptcy for a very small amount and then would charge much more over the course of the Bankruptcy. Jennie ** charged us an initial fee of $2,159.00. Over the course of the bankruptcy they charged us an additional $8,262.62. I requested a report from them of all their charges and what the charges was for. They have not provided us with this report.
A number of years into the bankruptcy they started doing a review of the bankruptcy, this was something they did in other years. This time I questioned what they were doing. They said it was necessary to make sure the bankruptcy was on track. I asked if they were charging us additional fees for the review and they said yes. I contacted the Trustee and found out that the bankruptcy had been in a status for a number of years where no Creditors could cause any changes to the bankruptcy.
I just needed to make my monthly payments. The bankruptcy attorneys from my understanding were doing totally unnecessary work and then having to change my bankruptcy payments to cover the new attorney fee charges. I was unhappy. Passed on my experiences I would never use this firm again. I would never recommend them to anyone and have contacted other attorneys I have worked with and gave them all of these details. I firmly believe this firm is not to be trusted. I would give them no stars if I could.

I was told by a attorney there that Wall & Assoc could help me with my tax lien. I would need to pay them $3,000 upfront & pay the rest after the tax lien was removed from my paycheck. So I went & did a emergency withdrawal from my 401k & sent them 3,000. I was then told after they made a few phone calls to the IRS, I need to pay them the additional $1,000 before they would do anything more. My checks were still being garnished. The only thing they did was make a few phone calls to the IRS. That was not worth the 3,000 I sent them. I was promised things that were not delivered. I spent a lot of money for nothing.
