About Uprova

Uprova is a tribal lending entity offering installment loans as alternatives to traditional payday loans. Uprova markets itself towards borrowers with all credit scores, and its proprietary assessment system checks to see if a customer is a good fit for the brand while also considering if they can actually afford a loan. However, not all applicants are guaranteed approval, and Uprova may run credit checks in certain situations.

What is Uprova?

Uprova is a company offering installment loans for borrowers with various types of credit. Uprova has an online application and funding process, and it can provide funds in under 30 minutes. The company is wholly owned by The Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake tribe.

Uprova’s loans are not available to residents of every state, and the Tribe may change the states it accepts applications from. Check Uprova’s website to see if its services are available to you when you’re ready to borrow.

How does Uprova work?

After you fill out Uprova’s online application, you should know if you are approved within seconds of submission. If you’re approved, funding should be available in under 30 minutes.

Uprova doesn’t charge any sort of application fee, but it may check your credit. However, one of Uprova’s standout features is its proprietary assessment tool, which judges your ability to pay back a loan — not just your credit score. Uprova offers loans for a variety of people, credit scores and financial situations (although rates might not be ideal in some cases.)

Uprova loans

Uprova has pages on its website for personal loans and tribal loans. Tribal loans have fixed terms and multiple installments. Uprova is able to offer these loans because it's an arm of the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake tribe.

Uprova’s loans are available in amounts between $300 and $5,000. There are no application, origination or prepayment penalties. Uprova states that its loans can be repaid in 20 biweekly payments, which averages out to a little over nine months. A disclaimer on its website corroborates this, stating that terms can range from nine to 36 months. There are no collateral requirements.

Uprova rates

Uprova doesn’t provide much upfront information about its rates, but according to a disclaimer on its website, representative examples might have APRs ranging from 34.5% to 35.99% and terms ranging from nine to 36 months. Check your rate with Uprova to get a more concrete number based on your personal financial situation.

Uprova’s loans come with fixed rates, fixed terms and fixed, biweekly payment schedules. There are no prepayment penalties.

Uprova FAQ

Is Uprova a payday loan?
No. Uprova offers fixed-term installment loans. Unlike payday loans, which have aggressively short terms and are designed to be paid back in a single installment, installment loans tend to have multiple installments, fixed terms and lower APRs.
Does Uprova check your credit?
Uprova might check your credit score. However, it offers loans for borrowers with a variety of credit scores.
Where is Uprova located?
Uprova is located in Upper Lake, California. Uprova is owned by the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake.
How do I contact Uprova?
You can contact Uprova by phone, email or mail. Check its website for specific contact info. The company is available Monday through Friday, excluding certain federal holidays.

Is Uprova legit?

Uprova offers financial solutions for borrowers who want an alternative to payday loans. The company’s loans have some appealing features, but it’s ultimately up to you to weigh the benefits of a loan against its costs, including interest and potential fees. Check with Uprova to see what rates are available to you, and make sure you can afford to repay your loan before borrowing.

I applied for a loan so that I can pay for school and then they went ahead and lied on their website saying that they could approve my loan because I need the money right now but then they had the audacity to say that I will need a credit score even though they said all is welcome. Please do noty apply for loans through this crappy company. If I could give zero stars I would.

Don’t do it. My 1200 dollar loan was given a 34% interest rate. After I got the loan documents I was charged 546% APR. I’ve file a complaint with my state attorney general, the FTC, and I’ve sought the services of an attorney. I’m looking for others to have a class action suit against this “company”.

This is a predatory lender! 524% interest on a $1,200.00 emergency loan! Over $4k back on 1,200.00. They do everything online and send you your payment amount but don't say it's biweekly. Read the fine print! Then they refuse to give you a 10 day payoff letter so you can pay it off easily. Stay away unless it's your absolute last resort. Any APR on a credit card would be lower!!!

I was told my balance was 792 and change on Friday 09/13. I borrowed 800.00. Called on Monday, the 16th and was told by balance was 981.85? Representative stated they tried to request money from my checking account and was rejected by my bank? They stated my bank information was incorrect? How is that possible when approval was given it was based on this same information. This company is bogus and I see why their rating are 1.5, also if I could my rating would be zero or negative.

Please do not do business with them. 500% interest rates is what they do. They will put you in a worst position. People please, please run away. They prey on us people who needs a little help between paychecks just to have use paying them for months....It's soo sad but this is the real world.. This company doesn't care about helping us just the money.

Please be warned if you make the lowest payment every two weeks you will end up paying double or even triple what you borrowed by the time you get it paid off. If you do not have the means to pay your loan off within 2-3 weeks, this probably isn’t for you. With that being said, I still think there is a time and place where Uprova can help you in a tough spot. I was behind on some bills and took out a loan of $1000. Ended up paying that loan off pretty quickly in about 3 weeks and only accrued about $100 in interest. The whole process was straightforward and I received my loan quickly. I would consider doing it again if I ever needed it.

I’ve literally been ROBBED! For months now. Smh. I borrowed a 1,000.00 loan because I desperately needed it not knowing the interest was 689.71. I have paid exactly 3,446.19 and still owe 660.00. I can literally cry right now. This is ROBBERY! DO NOT GET LOAN FROM THIS PLACE. IT IS LIKE PAWNING A TITLE TO YOUR CAR. I REPEAT. DO NOT RUIN YOUR LIFE EVEN MORE.

Giant ripoff. If you even LOOK at their loans. Money in your account without knowledge of interest rates or payments. Found out the hard way. They laugh in your face if you say illegal and say "sovereign nation" exempt.

This company provides quick service because it wants to lock you in quickly to their scam. Check on BBB how many people they have ripped off so far. I wish I would have done so prior to getting a loan. The representative had told me that if I paid off the loan early, there is no penalty and the amount would be lesser than it would be if I stuck with the 18 payments plan. 2 payments are taken out of my account every 2 weeks. It's been 3 months and I just wanted to get this account out of my life. I have paid $1300 so far for a loan that was $1000. So I called to get an early pay off amount and I am still stuck paying $880. So basically, my loan interest is over 100%. You save no money paying off the account early. You still owe the entire amount that you would owe if you stick with bi weekly payments. The representative did offer me a $9 discount if I paid the entire amount off today. SMH!!!

This "company" obtains your information from third parties, then tries to run loans in your name. I have never applied to this scam, but somehow started getting spam calls from them and then they attempted to run a loan in my name but they got the first name and bank account info wrong. Please stay away from these frauds.
