I was a commodity trader. I started doing business with Universal Coin back in 2009, and I've always been happy with them. I trust them and everything's always right neck accurate. The items are exactly what I've ordered. I've referred a lot of business to them that made bigger purchases than I have. The nice thing is, Josh, the rep, has always taken care of me when I've done that. ‘Cause I told him, “Scratch my back, I'll scratch yours,” as the old saying goes. And he's always taking care of me when I've sent people, because people and colleagues, I always tell them, “Do business with Universal Coin. They're professionals. They've been around a long time and they got great staff.” Sometimes I would get a different price when I would be talking to Josh but I'd say, “Can you refresh and see what you're showing versus what I'm showing?” And he would always nail it.

The only thing I am interested in is protecting my worthless dollar. Even though I'm retired, I know what's going on. I was rich with the US Treasury. What's going on with the dollar isn't healthy, isn't good. So, I buy gold and silver from Universal Coin to turn around and sell one day when I've made enough money that I can purchase a house. It's for investment purposes.

A man had a newsletter that I subscribed to and he mentioned Forest in Universal Coin & Bullion as somebody he bought coins from. Because I didn't know who to use or trust, and because this man recommended it and he was former CIA, I called Universal. I specifically asked for Forest. I told him, over the years, that that's how I got his name. He wasn't aware that he was in this man's newsletter. He has big customers. I am no big person, but he treats me like I am. He's such a gentleman, he's so warm and friendly, and he answers questions.

If I say, “I can't afford that. Now my money is really tight,” and say, “No. I’m not able to,” he will call sometimes and say, “I have a coin. Do you think you can afford it?” If I say, “No. I can’t. I can't do that coin,” he'll say, “I have this other one then, in case you could do this one instead.” Sometimes I can do the other one. And there were times when he would call and say, “We have this. We have that. And you have a set.” He knows. I have the two-and-a-half dollar, or two-and-a-half cent. I got 11 out of the 15. He knows what I want and what I still need. He tracks it, because I don't. Talk to him. He is an absolute gem. You can go on their website and buy stuff. Get whatever is left that you can.

I like Universal Coin. It's a nice company. They always treated me really nicely and things have gone really well. Universal Coin seems to make me happy when I'm buying silver. They just send it to my house through the United States Postal Service and the deliveries are good. When I buy gold, I go to JM Bullion because they seem to have a better tracking thing. When you buy gold, you pay a lot more for the gold. And I don't want them to go, “Oops. We're sorry. We lost your $4,500 coin, and you're not gonna get it.” For some reason, Universal Coin doesn't ensure as much that I'm gonna get the coin. It's really nice, though. They package it in a non-advertising packet, so the Postal Service is not tempted to steal the coin or whoever's delivering it. I really like that a lot. Then, if you buy one or two, they wrap it up really well, and it comes in a plastic container, outside, a soft plastic thing. Not a Ziploc baggie.

Sometimes when I call on the phone, they give me the same agent all the time, some guy in Texas. But he's a little pushy at the end. He's like, “I know you have other money and you can buy more coins.” I go, “No. I don't have any other money. I can't buy any more coins. I already know what I want before I even called you on the phone ‘cause I'm a guy.” Once or twice, I even had to hang up on him and say, “No. I'm not doing this.” The last time, I didn't wanna go through that, so I just ordered it through the internet, online, ‘cause I didn't wanna have an argument with the guy. He’s very cordial and nice, though. Even when I hung up on him, he would call back. I would say, “Are you ready to listen to me now?” He'd say, “Yeah.”

The delivery is usually within a month. The last time I purchased, it took a month to get it, from the day I ordered it to the day I received it. When you get the coin, it's really nice and shiny. I like it a lot. And I'm looking forward to buying more. I even used it as a gift, those President Trump coins. And some people really liked them. Their price is a little high, though. I always check the rate of the silver, and they're always 10 bucks higher. But the other companies do the same thing. Their customer service has been pretty good. Because sometimes I haven't gotten the confirmation email right away, so I would call up and say, “I didn't get my confirmation email you said you were gonna send me.” They would go, “We're sorry.” Then they would send it to me immediately. Overall, it's been pretty good.

I've gotten a few things from Universal Coin. Clint has been really helpful, personable, and fun to talk to. It’s just a good experience working with someone who has the same values and on the same page. So, I'd say the total experience with the organization has been very good. I probably would purchase from them again. There are things that might come up.

I have to say too that sometimes, when I ordered, I've got other coins like a Trump medallion or NRA's. They're not precious metals but they're medallions to commemorate the Second Ammendment. It's cool to be able to get some kind of memorabilla for free of charge, just for ordering. I've looked at other sites, and many people on podcasts were pushing gold and silver too. I'm an NRA member, and every month I get a magazine, where I always see that they have these coins for the Army and Navy which they minted only 300,000. I got one of them.

I wanted to get the navy because my dad fought in the Pacific. They're a little spendy, but they're worth it. But then there's only a certain amount of minted and they got this special emblem for what rank and service in the Army and Navy. Plus, it's the 250th year of our armed forces. I might invest in little more silver or some gold.

I was at the NRA Convention in Atlanta, where Universal Coin & Bullion was the official NRA coin and bullion exchange. They were the only show in town at the time, and I wanted a one-ounce NRA coin along with a few other items they had for sale. The people working at the booth were friendly and professional. The items I bought were priced just over the spot price, which is normal, and there were no surprises if you pay attention. My only regret is that 20 years ago, when my daughter was born, gold was about $330 an ounce. I remember when it was hovering at $1,000 an ounce in 2008, and now it’s closing over $4,000 an ounce. Silver has gone up too. Looking back, I wish I had bought more earlier.

I purchased 1 gold buffalo from Universal Coin a little more than a year ago. Now the sales department won't stop calling me! Several different people have called me and left me messages telling me to call them because they have a "Great Deal for me". I have NEVER been harassed so much by any company in my life. Like a bunch of used car salesman they won't leave me alone. I will NEVER make a gold purchase from this company again.! Stop calling me! ... I have said this directly to the salesman before.....but they don't listen.....

I found out about Universal Coin through NRA and I liked who they had working with them. The products are mostly good too. Last time, I felt a little slighted, but not bad. I paid a little higher price, $300 a coin, than I could find it otherwise. Because I've dealt with them before and I went with their knowledge and not mine. They have better knowledge of it than me. The delivery also took little longer than I expected, but it was fine. It didn't make any difference at that point. Mostly, I've been okay with Universal Coin. They've steered me in the right direction and the communication has been good. Occasionally, they overplay their sale and if I tell them no, they keep pushing. They're a little pushy sometimes.
