I received from the IRS a statement saying that I owed them several thousand dollars in back taxes from this past tax year. I received another one from Indiana Department of Revenue that I owed them over $2,000 in taxes. I was swamped with other other things that I had and I just couldn't do that. I needed help. So I contacted Tax Defense Network and asked if I could apply for financial relief. They were able to stop a lot of the interest from occurring. They were able to have the IRS to put my case into nonpayment right now. But once I get the money, I still have to pay it. But with my Indiana case, they abandoned me on that. They said they couldn't get anywhere with Indiana. So, I was on my own on that.
Tax Defense Network made the process real easy for me through my emails and text messages. They walked with me through that. So, that was pretty good. I enjoyed working with Veronica. She was professional and cordial. The payments was not too big. It was in my limits at that time. But I'm not satisfied of how things turned out. The price was too much. Tax Defense should reconsider getting some other attorneys because some of that stuff, I was able to find out other information that the attorneys should have been able to acquire before I did.

The young girl that I was working with told me she would set up a telephone appointment. I'm old. I don't move around quickly. So when she said, “At one o'clock on Friday,” I said, “Okay. I'll be here.” I sat with my phone, waiting for her to call. I don't move around real quick, so I wanted to make sure I didn't miss my phone call. She didn't call at scheduled time and this happened on more than one occasion. This young girl was trying to gaslight me and then ultimately, I started second guessing myself, but then I proved to myself I was correct. She kept saying, “I'm gonna send you an email.” I never got the email. She’s been made to act like, “Oh, well, it's probably in your spam folder.” But it was never in my spam folder.
Just because I'm old and I move slowly doesn't mean I'm not intelligent. I'm not real tech savvy, but I do know how to open an email. I do know how to get to my spam account. But this young girl was always trying to make it like it was my fault. I would have to send her messages saying, “Did you forget at one o'clock today, our appointment?” Then I would get a phone and she'd tell me, “No, it's in two days.” But in two days, it's Sunday, and they don't work on Sundays.
When I decided to contract with Tax Defense, I was hoping to relieve the tax mess that I had. I didn't expect to have to beg for it. Tax Defense didn't do things that they were supposed to. They placed blame on something else. It got to the point where I could never get a hold of this young lady. I asked to speak to another representative. I wasn't getting off the phone till they gave me her boss or somebody else to talk to. When they did, that woman was very helpful. But the girl that I was working with ended up calling me back. So I ended up having to deal with this one girl that I was having a hard time with. I don't like that Tax Defense doesn't care. They got their money. They were done with me.

Tax Defense sent me my copy of everything, including my taxes. At first, I thought Tax Defense was a fraud. But the rep informed me that she wasn't fraud, and that she was legit. So, she kept calling and kept up with me. She also texted and emailed me. The process was easy. I was having trouble on my emails and she made it even easier because she sent the forms and I filled them out and then take pictures of them and send them. So, she helped me out a whole lot to make sure it got done. Tax Defense was wonderful on that part. They were good to work with. They helped me.

We truly appreciate you taking a moment to highlight your experience with our Tax Defense Network team and are happy to have been your choice of tax resolution specialists!

My experience with Tax Defense was good for the most part. The only problem is you really can't understand anybody because it's mainly foreign people. You can't really understand their English sometimes. But other than that, the customer service has been all right. I got off the phone with them earlier because I'm still getting letters from the IRS about a levy. I don't understand how I'm still getting letters if they're helping me. But the woman told me not to worry about it, so it's good.

While we are happy to have provided you with a positive outcome for your tax matters, we are disappointed to hear that your experience was impacted by language barriers. We aim to make our service easy to navigate and have seamless communication between our team and clients.
Thank you for this honest review of your experience, as it has provided an opportunity for us to improve our experiences for future customers.

I initially had a great experience with Tax Defense Network. I had three years of back taxes that weren’t filed because I didn’t know what to do. I had solar put on my roof and the solar company went out of business. After it was all done, they finally sent me the three years and there wasn’t any tax credit on there. I called them back about the solar credit, and they asked if I could get the loan documents from where I got the loan. I said I could probably do that, so I got the documents and sent them in. Then they said they needed a document that says the solar was installed, but the company was already out of business.
Long story short, I could have done these taxes myself and just said I don’t get any credits and filed for the three years. I also asked about the tax forgiveness program and whether I qualified, and I never got an answer back. What they did was a 1040 short form for three years. It was all promises at the beginning and then nothing happened. It all went downhill, just like a ski slope. Every time I tried to call, all I got were messages.

I owed $21,000 to the Fed. I was an owner-operator, had gone through a bad divorce that had me paying her so much money, I couldn't send anything in quarterly payments. So, I was overwhelmed with all of that. Somebody on Facebook recommended I call them and that's where it began.
I had to borrow $5,000 to pay them to handle my case. It went on for a little while, and I would go long stretches without hearing anything. I finally called them and they said my case was closed. But they didn’t do anything for me, so I asked for a refund and they reopened it. It's like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing for a long time. But the last two ladies that I worked with were pretty much on the ball. I could get them on the phone if I needed to and they kept me updated, so I was satisfied with them. Everybody else before them, I was disgusted with. The whole thing took five years to resolve. Back in 2022, they were able to get me on an uncollectible status. The process was very painful for me in the beginning, but the two ladies tried to right the ship, helped me, and they did a good job.

We truly appreciate your honest review of your service experience. We are happy to know you are satisfied with your outcome but understand we have room for improvement. Thank you for your business and for choosing Tax Defense Network to assist you with your tax matters!

I had COVID then suffered a major stroke by June 2021. I had to relearn how to walk and talk. I became partially paralyzed on my left side, and I was no longer able to work, which eventually put me on disability. During this time, my husband caused problems by filing taxes jointly when we were legally separated. Because of that, we ended up owing taxes I didn’t know about. I should have been able to file my taxes myself.
Tax Defense Network helped me with my innocent spouse claim, and did all the legwork for me because it’s so hard to get with the IRS. Laura worked on my behalf, taking all my information. I had to send her all my documents related to my ex-husband. She was phenomenal. She was always available, checked with me weekly, and clearly communicated what documents were needed. I was always right on it. They were helpful in getting the job done. I would rate my experience with Tax Defense Network a 5/5, and I would go 100 if I could.

I had back taxes I had to pay. I went online and saw Tax Defense. I put in my information and they called me so I dealt with them. My experience with them was nice. They did my taxes for 2019 ‘cause I don’t like doing taxes. They did it in a timely manner.
Communicating with them was easy. At one time, they were having a little bit of phone issues and I wasn’t getting connected. But once that got worked out, it was fine. Also, the initial conversation was fast. I like people to take their time and talk and explain. I know they want to get through the process but sometimes, I feel like I’m being pushed. Other than that, they did what I wanted them to do so I wasn’t disappointed.

I was desperate to get my taxes resolved since it was already past the date to file our taxes. It ended up costing me $2,200, although it was about $3,000 less than what I would have had to pay the IRS. The first guy that I talked to when I first called explained what it was gonna cost and connected me to Tax Defense. He told me it was gonna cost $1,700, which I cringed at because I’m unemployed. I got caught up, and I had to file my retirement early. Afterwards, I got a really good job and made too much money, so the IRS hit me for five grand. Social Security hit me for eight grand and said they overpaid me. I was in debt for $2,200, but it’s low payments over three years. I didn’t have the money to pay $1,700. The interest took it up to 2,200 because the interest was pretty high.
The lady I talked was overly attentive and very professional. She notified me of any contact she had with the IRS and sent me copies of any paperwork. When she called me the next day after we talked, she seemed to forget that we already talked earlier. I was thinking, “Does she even know what case she’s talking about?” But it turned out okay. Tax Defense took the application and approved it. They took care of it. Another man from the company followed up to help me plan out my finances better and help me know how much taxes to withhold. They gave me a number so I can contact them if I had questions. They're very professional. I was a little nervous about giving any information out at first, but it worked out okay.

I hadn't paid taxes for a few years, and I started getting all these letters from the IRS and I thought that I was under the poverty level, but I guess I wasn't. So, I just started looking through and ended up talking with Tax Defense, and they said that they would help me out. When I contacted them, I just gave them the information straight from the IRS statement, and then they filed those tax returns for me. I'm getting close to the final payments, but it was like $95 a month to pay for the amount. They did help out with some discounts. If I was able to pay a certain amount by this time, they could stretch out my payments and get them down to what I could afford monthly. Whenever I did call, they were very quick to respond. It's taken a weight off my shoulders, that's for certain.

We aim to provide exceptional services to each of clients and are happy to see this was the case during your time with us. Thank you for your business, Wendy!

I had some tax issues and I saw a well-placed Tax Defense Network advertisement on the IRS page. They got me set up rather quickly, but everything else has been moving slowly. Whenever I get in touch with them, it’s always somebody different I talk to, and that's a little bit concerning because I don't know who I'm gonna get. It's been a year and a half and I'm still at the beginning stages of anything happening. I sent them some stuff that they needed, and I'm waiting for an initial meeting with IRS, so technically, I'm not even done with them.

I'm reading a lot of the posting from previous customers who had disappointing experiences. I wish I had done more research before entering into an agreement. Dealing with the IRS can be a challenge you have to navigate through long phone waits, dropped calls and a gauntlet of IRS reps, no one really eager to help with your circumstances and problem, I get it. Tax Defense Network presents themselves as the agent that can cut through a lot of the red tape. You don't have a designated attorney but a Tax Advocate. Very different terms and responsibilities. People in desperate search of help with their IRS problems, place a great deal of faith and trust in these networks only to get dismal unsatisfying results at an inflated cost. I already had a payment plan with the IRS and was told to default on so they can work on my behalf. Got worse terms and now starting off from scratch.
The cost grossly out weighted the benefits. I got better results spending the time on the phone myself instead of using an advocate. The same time you invest being on the phone with the IRS, your advocate does for you, if that's a savings and load off your mind, you probably can get another network to do it as a better price, shop around. There are no easy and quick fixes like many of these networks promise. You probably are going to get the same results if you handled yourself. I didn't even qualify for partial forgiveness and when asked for a reason, my advocate had no answer only "that only what they told her, I didn't qualify". Wow! I spent how much to get that answer. Not to mention a whole list of issues I had with my advocate, one stemming that she's in an entirely different time zone than myself which made communication a challenge.
I won't take out all my anger on my advocate, I believe she thought she was doing the right thing. But her actions are indistinguishable from the whole. Once Tax Defense Network realized that they could not do anything for me, they should have been forthright and not accepted me as a client. Very disappointed, but for ever complaint I'm reading, we all have a shared sentiment that we kind of should have known better, let's face it, we are dealing with the IRS. Many of these networks lead you to believe they can do more than they actually can. But nevertheless, each our circumstances led us to believe we could find that silver lining of desperately needed help. The relief we sort and needed never came or came at a king's ransom cost. I should have done my own homework. Lesson learned.

I trusted this company with everything I had literally. Paying money every two weeks and then they increased the amount last week. I was assigned an attorney that I can’t get a hold of, Well guess what…. I woke up this morning, there’s a lien on my house and my bank accounts are frozen and that’s just for one year of my taxes not the eight that I’m being audited for. I answered this ad because they said relief for nurses ha ha joke's on me again. I want everything canceled immediately so that after my banks are unfrozen, I can figure out who to get help from. Biggest mistake I’ve made in quite some time. And by the way, they don’t deserve the one star, but it’s the only way to get my point across.

In 2020 I reached out to them and my husband and I had a very lengthy phone call to get started with the process. We were told that it would cost $8000.00 for the plan for both of us. He took all of my info then was done with our phone call. I asked about getting my husband's info and he replied that someone would call us back for his. No call. When I reached out during the year, they said that they were only doing mine.
Long story short. No one ever found the phone recording that I requested and spoke to several people about and it is now 2025 and I still don't have any resolution with my taxes. Not to mention that I had to pay $2000 to file my 2023. This year I got a local CPA which told me to drop them. Now I'm getting more emails from them saying that they have contacted their team and I will be violating something which will lead to severe repercussions. One more thing. There are more disturbing promises that I was told that have changed. Now my hole is deeper and darker. Find a CPA around home so you can go to the office and get the crap figured out "eye to eye" instead of playing phone tag and having miscommunication problems!!!

I hired Tax Defense Network expecting professional IRS representation and tax resolution services. Instead, I encountered constant inconsistencies and unprofessional conduct. Key figures related to my case were repeatedly changed, creating confusion and frustration. When I questioned these discrepancies, the rep became defensive, hostile, and dismissive rather than providing clear answers. The tax rep shared her personal cell phone and email, claiming we were “friends,” but later said this was a mistake and refused to communicate transparently. I was also pressured to consider bankruptcy and find an attorney, which was never part of my agreement, and the unwarranted recommendation felt irresponsible and risky.
I was able to terminate my contract quickly and receive a refund following my breach of contract email I sent them, but afterward, I tried to notify leadership about what had happened, and no one ever responded. I am sharing this review in good faith to describe my experience. Should the company respond, please know this is my accurate, documented account. So basically, I had no liens...I paid $15k to file my past taxes and pay the IRS back, then the liens started and law firm company doesn't respond. They charged us at least $3000 just to get my husband into non collectible status with the IRS because we are poor and his sister used his name, he owed the irs $15000 with interest from 2021, only finding out he owes for 2021 the end of 2022. However the irs still seized our collective refund money; $2000 last year, $10'900+ this year. Tax Defense didn't stop that, nor did they try to also negotiate us onto a payment plan with the irs. They just half way did anything: putting us in non collectible status. It's ridiculous. Do that yourself. Do not pay these thieves.

Hello, Rachael. As discussed in communications with our team, owing a balance to the IRS places a taxpayer's refund at risk. While establishing a resolution, such as currently not collectible can prevent aggressive IRS action against you, your bank account, or wages, it does not eliminate the debt. So, future refunds can be offset to pay down the existing balance.

I signed up with the Tax Defense Network with high hopes and promises of a fast resolution to get my back taxes completed. That was six months ago. I’ve paid over $2200 and nothing has been done. I reached out multiple times and no one calls me back. 6 weeks in I finally got my account manager to send me over the paperwork to fill out. I sent it back in two days with a question regarding them accessing my QuickBooks to get all the financials. The account rep told me he is not a bookkeeper and he proceeded to ghost me. I called and explained I don’t need a bookkeeper. All of my stuff is input, the manager assigned me a new account rep and gave me free bookkeeping. I wanted to make this work.
The account rep called me immediately, sent me the paperwork. I filled it out and sent it back. Two weeks later I reached out again, verified they received my information for the next three weeks. I would get a one-word response email not answering my questions and then she wanted to schedule a call for three weeks after that. They strung me along for six months, not doing anything at all to help my situation which was dire because my son will be going to college in the fall and I need to fill out the FASFA. I finally got my account closed three weeks after I asked for it to be closed. They’re trying not to issue me a refund. I have all of the interactions with everyone documented showing that nothing’s been done and they’re still trying to keep my money.

The case managers schedule calls to go over the case and present already known solutions, like the debt will fall out, or soft audits with no solutions. My balance I feel was relatively low and all they did was work out a payment plan. So that being said I now owe Tax Defense $3,000 with interest on top of all my debt!! Very disappointed and I would never recommend them to anyone. They clearly in my opinion did NOT have my best interest in mind. It was all about the $$ for them! They also talked me into fixing my credit by showing me my credit report and discrepancies. Well, they didn't do anything but charge my card each month. I finally called and told them to stop. Very very dishonest company and very poor communication. I had to call all the time and even contact the agents' manager because I would get no response from the agent I was dealing with. It's quite disgusting to see this kind of company taking advantage of little businesses.

In my opinion this outfit is borderline criminal. Please avoid. Listen to what's being said about this company. You'll only end up deeper in debt. I've had to file a slew of complaints with the BBB and my status AG office. IN MY OPINION there is something very wrong with this outfit. Buyer beware. You have been warned.

Stay clear of this company. Do your due diligence before signing on with them. The vast majority of their negative reviews have been confirmed through my experienced with them so far. Their contract states you can cancel within 3 days. I tried to cancel the very next day and no one will get back to me or refund my deposit. I’ve contacted them several times, through various channels and no response. Basically, as soon as you make an inquiry online about receiving tax debt assistance, someone will call you within seconds of hitting enter on your keyboard - both creepy and effective. They’ll sell you this pipe dream that they can solve your problem, immediately send over a contract and collect a deposit and then good luck getting them to get back to you.
The cost is extremely expensive: $4000. And there is no guarantee that they can solve your problem any more than you can on your own. As many other reviews state, not only did they have to pay thousands to this company, they still had to pay the original debt owed to the IRS. Basically costing them $4000 to set up a payment plan with the IRS, something you can do for free directly with them.
In my case, I lost my business during the early pandemic. As a result, I lost nearly everything. Since then, my family received a huge health blow (cancer) that left us on one low income and a large debt. All unfortunate and unforeseen events that led me to this point in the first place. This company preyed upon me in my desperate, scared and vulnerable state, promising to solve my problem and getting me to sign up quickly, without having an opportunity to think things through, see reviews (when inquiring I was not able to see exactly who was responding to my inquiry and the call to me was immediate). After hanging up with them, I searched for their company and saw tons of negative reviews.
I immediately texted the man I spoke to who gave me the number to call and text him. No response. The following day, I contacted a lawyer as well as an accountant and sent numerous emails and made numerous calls to cancel my agreement with them (within the timeframe stated in their contract). Suddenly his direct line that he told me I could text was “undeliverable” perhaps indicating that he blocked my number. I left a message on his main line. I emailed both him and the company. I spoke to customer service who said someone would get back to me. No one responded since and they haven’t refunded my deposit. This company is predatory, taking advantage of you at your most vulnerable moments, taking a lot of money from people who have little.
Upon further research, these companies often lead you further into debt with little to no success with the IRS. You’ll be left with thousands to pay the Tax Defense Network and a payment plan to the IRS for the original amount due plus interest and penalties. You are essentially adding $4000+ to your overall debt. A horrible idea for people in financial distress. Save yourself the stress, the money and deeper despair by contacting the IRS tax payer advocate for help (something I didn’t know existed until after). You’re more likely to have real help there.

I reached out to this company out of fear from IRS. This company promised to address the issues with the IRS. After signing the contract I had call regarding next steps. Someone sent me a business card with a form regarding all monthly expenses. Then NOTHING!!! However they continued to draft payments as scheduled. After several months with no contact, I canceled services. I feel scammed.
