Rude arrogant. Should be laws against payments held for 11 business days. Payments cleared my account overnight. They need to be investigated for this. This is definitely harsh treatment of consumers.

They closed all my cards with them no warning, under 10 percent utilization, never late, 700 plus credit score... No reason for this.... around 48 thousand dollars in cards gone... Paid in full rarely carried a balance ... Luckily did not tank me but if I had balances on those cards could have been bad ... Will never do business with any backed card by them moving forward.

I was given false information by a Synchrony Bank representative who assured me that no fees would be charged when using my credit card in Canada. I trusted this statement and was later charged $514.45 in fees. What followed was months of complete incompetence. I spoke with countless managers, none of whom could explain or resolve the issue. I had to repeat the same information over and over again. A dispute was opened four times, each time requiring a three-month wait, only to end with the same generic rejection letter stating that my case could not be resolved. This is not a policy issue — it is a professional failure. Employees provide incorrect information, management takes no responsibility, and the customer pays the price. I have lost all trust in Synchrony Bank.

Made payments early for the amount they set up. Days later I checked to see if my account was closed only to find out they changed a payment of .59 cents. I know it’s not much but if I had not checked I feel that they would start charging interest. They could not explain only made me feel that I was not paying the full amount each month.

I am a consumer with a high FICO score. I work with some of the best-known banking institutions. I signed up with One-Pay at Walmart a month ago. This credit is through Synchrony Financial. I have called over 8 times and spoken to multiple personnel. But Synchrony Financial still has not sent a monthly statement to my address. Although they have sent me emails saying they did. Plus, I did not get a usable product online, and they haven't investigated it. HR Block Business tax software gave an unusable code, and HR Block customer service said the code was unusable. The customer representative/agents do not know how to assist customers. Poor decision to go with Synchrony Financial.

I got a bed through this bank! I’m warning you - don’t do it. I have paid on time more than I should pay on the payment. I get a notice they are dropping my credit line from 2400.00 to 250.00. Is this some kind of joke? I paid all that money to show nothing gone! I have decided to close all my accounts with this bank. I think they are focused on ruining people's credit. Glad my bed is off and I can close this account and never look back. This bank should be ashamed of themselves after reading the reviews.

Absolutely awful. My wife and I have used them to help finance our furniture through Furniture Land South in North Carolina. We only decided to work with them because their was a promotion for interest free financing for the first 6 months of payments. We gradually paid things off over the time of the promotional period. At the time of the last month of the promotion where things would have been paid in full ,we had an interest charge that was MORE THAN DOUBLE the remaining amount on the bill ($628). I conversed with someone in their department who was able to remove the interest charge after I paid the remaining amount...HOWEVER...they did not remove the interest charge in time so I received a LATE FEE of $28..
Then, after they couldn't remove the late fee and I PAID the late fee, this month I was charged ANOTHER interest fee of $33. The representative Sophie **, said she could not help me remove this interest even though it was their screw up in the first place AND I paid THEIR late fee on time. Whatever they can do to squeeze as much out of you to make an extra buck. Will NEVER be using them again. Punishing people who are doing right by paying their bills off in a promotion that they set, just to trap them into paying more.

I paid my account in full back in October of 2025, Synchrony Bank was still charging interest on a zero account balance, reported it to my credit, caused my credit score to drop, then after I called to discuss the problem the manager stated there was nothing that could or would be done to fix the problem. Never again will do I business with the company.

If I could leave a lower score I would. Be aware. DO NOT do business with SYNCHRONY BANK. They lower spending limits on cards, close accounts for no good reason even for loyal customers who pay on time and have been with them for years. Doing this they now have hurt my credit score which I'm pissed about being that I have NEVER once missed a payment. I learned my lesson and I WILL NEVER AGAIN DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I hope this review reaches a lot of people and I can help them from making a BIG MISTAKE!

BEWARE!! If you have a Lowe's credit card, they will terminate it if your credit score drops a few points. They will NOT even send you a letter or email, nor they care about your outstanding payment history/purchases. They simply don't care about you, the consumer. I will never set foot at Lowe's as long as this bank runs their credit department. I have bought appliances on Lowe's credit, and paid them off in reasonable time. This doesn't matter to Synchrony Financial.

I have a complaint with Mattress Firm and their finance company, Synchrony Bank. I am a veteran using 0 interest promotions for many decades. I have NEVER had to pay penalties or extra fees. I am also aware that merchants work with their bank to establish terms and policies that the consumer may not be aware of. This is the case with these two companies. Shouldn’t I be able to determine the payment due by using the entire purchase price by the number of months of the promotion. EXACTLY!! It’s 5th grade math, but not so fast with these people. The due date is every 30 days so it’s a moving target.
After being heckled which I could not understand; all payments were made on time by oh, there’s a surprise. They charged me $6 per month for sending me a statement, then late charges on top of that because those fees made the payment “late“. I rectified this by eliminating the mailing of statements. I got all the so called “fees” paid. I confirmed the payment date so no longer would I have to worry about the moving target. I confirmed the payment amount. So, I thought we were good. Wait there’s more. They ALSO CHARGE A fee for online statements. Not one credit card I have does this and because I didn’t know the fee was being charged, they say all the payments were late. The fee $2. But now, they say I owe hundreds in late fees. Who does this kind of thing and gets away with it? Should I contact the Attorney General?

I spent the last year and a half building my credit. It's virtually impeccable, considering it's only just over a year old. Nothing is late, and I have nine different events in my monthly life. Synchrony Bank did me a dirty deed. They gave me $1,300 plus for credit to fix my teeth, my dental. And now that I've got it paid down to $900 without missing a beat or being late once, perfect. I even pay $50 instead of $30. They've just screwed my credit by for some reason they knocked my available credit limit down to $1000 instead of the $1350 it was. That makes my credit to ratio to availability at 98%, so I'm maxed out.
Yesterday, I wasn't maxed out, but now I am. You know what that did to my credit report? It dropped me like 40 points. Thank you very much, Synchrony Bank. You suck. (Did I mention that I wasn't late? I haven't been late even once, not even close, and I paid over almost every time I paid $50 instead of $30.) And look, they did it on December 17th, just to totally screw or help screw up my Christmas. Thank you, Synchrony Bank!

Don't take the bait to get an Amazon credit card. Resolving my account has been one of the worst experiences of my life. Called to pay off my account, thought it was zeroed out and card closed. Then I get a late fee months later. Was told nothing could be done, the charge was valid because interest can accrue before you paid it off but not show up later. What kind of world can you call for a balance, be assured it would pay off the account, and get an interest fee that shows up after you paid the full amount due?

I have 4 credit cards by Synchrony, a Harbor Freight card, a Lowe’s card and Ashley furniture card and most recently a CareCredit card. I haven’t had the Care Credit card for 6 months, and just the other day unbeknownst to me, I find my credit limit was significantly lowered to just above my card balance, ironically. It lowered from a 2200.00 limit down to 1550.00! The email reason given was that a soft pull was done and I had other credit cards that have high balances. Not one of any of my accounts are ever late, always make payments on time and more than the minimum amount due is paid. I was active with this card and needed to use it within a week for a purchase, so I called CareCredit and asked them to return the account to where it was at before they lowered my limit.
The representative said they will not be restoring my card back to its limit so I said I will close my account immediately. Absolutely ridiculous how they lower my limit and will cause my credit usage to go sky high and my credit score will be impacted negatively because of this. Just stay away from this Synchrony Bank, no matter what card it is sponsoring, they are all Synchrony and not at all trained to deal with the general public as far as credit cards go. The customer is never right with this company, and they will make sure they run that all over your face when you ask for help.

I had a 8 tho limit, owed less than 3 tho. They cut my limit to 3 thousand, which maxed the card and lowered my card, had another one that had a 1400.00 limit and had a 100.00 balance. They lowered it to 120.00 limit. Both of these lowered my credit score causing other credit cards to do the same. They have destroyed my credit from above 700 to below 550. Worst Customer Service Experience in my life. Went to use my newly issued card, got "flagged" for "Fraudulent Use", had to "verify" my identity. Giving the last 4 of my social and phone numbers associated with the account weren't "good enough", had to submit a "selfie video" of myself plus photos of the front and back of my driver's license - then wait to get a "code" sent to my phone - then call back customer service with that code and jump through even more hoops. I was told that the original reason the card was "declined" was to "protect me from myself". WOW. Ended up making the purchase with another credit card that didn't ask me to prove my identity over and over again. NEVER AGAIN.

I have been a Lowe's credit card holder for around 20 years. Never been late or missed a payment. Have done about $20000 in business. One day Synchrony canceled my card saying I was a credit risk. I have an A+ rating and had a score over 800 (till this). No good reason, just got booted. Follow up letter said they can do anything at any time. Only reason I can see is that last 10 years only paid out about $100 in interest fees. Wanted to see how bad a risk I was, went to Home Depot and opened an $8000 line of credit same day. So now they get all of my business.

NOTHING where I tried to resolve the matter with the seller. They stated the seller sent me a return shipping label. I wonder where that was. NEVER did I see such a label. Bottom line STUCK and CHARGED for a phone in the amount of 529.00. WHAT AN INVESTIGATION ON THEIR PART. A senior age 68 and a VETERAN to be put through such an ordeal. I would give them zero stars if able. This is by far the absolute worse credit card company I’ve ever dealt with. They cancelled our cards today (without notice, fraud, or our request) after putting 2 new cards in the mail. So when I went to use the Sam’s Club card today it returned a “Invalid Card” notice to the place of business I was trying to use it in. They tried it 3-times and it returned the same message. When I called Synchrony they could only state that the card was cancelled and new ones were issued. When I asked why, they said it was a periodic card change out.
Then I called Synchrony and challenged why would they cancel current cards before we received new ones; they couldn’t answer that question. Multiple calls to customer service were worthless and often rude. Strongly encourage others to look elsewhere for credit cards. Also suggest the Sam’s Club should reconsider their credit services contract with Synchrony as it reflects very poorly on them too (unless you understand that Synchrony is not part of Sam’s club). For the record - I have a flawless credit report and scores well over 800; this review is not a sour grapes complaint over credit.

I took a 12 month no interest loan from Newegg through Synchrony Bank. I made 11 payments via direct payment. When the last payment was due, I contacted Synchrony to have the last payment made (30 days before it was due). They told me to make the payment via their website. But I told them I could not get into my account because Synchrony had made changes to their system and would not allow me into my account. The Synchrony rep told me this was a problem and that many account holder were having the same problem. She told me that she could take my bank account number and routing number and make the last payment for me. I gave her the info and then forgot about it.
Later, I got a notice that the payment was rejected by my bank and that I was being charged $30.00 for the reject. I called my bank and they told me that Synchrony had not tried to debit my account. I then called Synchrony, both by phone and then by chat. After a lot of back and forth, the rep finally said to me (by chat) "As I understand you have a query about the return payment fees charged, I would like to inform you that it was charged due to a payment return as the payment was returned due to mismatch of the bank account number entered at the time of payment. Unfortunately, as this is purely system based, we are unable to remove the fee from our end due to the process limitations even at the manager level as we can work only on an late fee. We apologize for not meeting your expectations at this time."
I told the rep that the Synchrony rep wrote my information down wrong and now Synchrony wants me to pay $30 for their mistake. The rep then told me (by chat) "I can understand how frustrating it would be for you. We are sorry for your experience. Since this is automatically charged, we do not have an option to over ride even at the manager level." In other words, Synchrony is not at fault. I am. For paying off my account 30 days early. And by having a rep handle the transaction instead of the normal debit procedure. The chat rep then said "we suggest you reverify your bank details before sharing it with us." This is insane. I have NEVER heard of anything as stupid as this before. The bank makes a mistake and their customers have to pay for their mistake. If I was Synchrony, I would make mistakes all day long and get rich!

I got this card when I applied for special financing to buy a new couch at La-Z-Boy on Labor Day, since they always have special holiday deals. I made all my monthly payments and paid it off, but then about a year or so later they randomly close my account for inactivity, without any warning (nothing in the mail or email or anything). I only found out when Credit Karma emailed me to notify me the account had been closed, so I called Synchrony Bank (who manages the card) to see if they would reopen it but they said I would have to reapply. Seems like shady business practices to me, since closed accounts can have a big impact on credit scores.
