I had a transaction of $23.70 that was declined, I was wondering why, I was nervous thinking I was hacked or something. When I check my phone a message from the bank saying a transaction was declined because I exceeded the available limit. This is NOT true! I don't usually use this credit card so I know I've lots of available balance. Another thing the bank statement showed up late so I got charge because I paid late. I discussed this to customers agent and he just say sorry and hung up.

I've been a loyal PC Mastercard user for several years, typically enjoying a problem-free experience. However, on Oct 18th, a hiccup occurred. According to PC Financial, an issue with my card led them to block it and dispatch a replacement without any notification via email, phone, or text. I was in the dark for days about my card being deactivated, only discovering the change when my card got declined at a store about four days later. Despite my high credit rating and over two decades of spotless credit history, suddenly, my card was unusable. Reaching out to them, I learned that some flagged activity on my card prompted this action. Their lack of communication left me frustrated, and their response was a mere surprise that no one had informed me. It took a call to them to understand the situation; otherwise, I'd still be clueless about why my card wasn't working.
I was told to expect my new card within 7-10 business days. Upon its arrival the following week, I attempted activation but encountered a series of errors. Contacting support led to a blame game where I was accused of incorrect data entry by multiple support personnel over a span of 3-5 hours. Following their instructions, I tried activating it on their website, only to face an error message urging me to call a 1-800 number for further support. The cycle of calls, blame, and futile attempts at activation went on until the 5th support representative identified the issue: the card had an incorrect expiry date.
The realization came after hours of being blamed for supposedly entering data incorrectly. The error on their part now meant waiting for another replacement card for two more weeks. The incompetence disrupted my automated bill payments, setting me up for payment bounces at the month's end. The ordeal showcased a glaring lapse in customer service, leaving me utterly disappointed.

You cannot use your debit card at retailers unless they accept Mastercard as a method of payment. You cannot get cash back at any retailers because your card shows as a credit card purchase. If you need cash, real cash, you will have to use an ATM and good luck finding a PC Financial ATM, especially if it's after grocery store hours. In that case you will pay, big. If you go to a non PC ATM, you will be charged $3 for using their machine PLUS $2-$3 from PC. So, taking out $20 will cost you $25! That is a 25% fee! You should also be aware that cheques are not available on these accounts.
Not many people use Cheques anymore but it should be noted. Are you serious!? Not to mention the ever so inept people at customer service are unable to connect my PC points on my debit card to the points on my actual Mastercard. So I always have to swipe 2 different cards; Mastercard for points, then Debit card to pay. What a pain in the butt & a total scam of "bank account."

My wife and I have a PC Financial Mastercard. We were travelling in BC for most of the summer and when we came home around August 23rd, we noticed a new card (PC Financial Mastercard) was sent to her. Why?!? We checked our transactions and sure enough, there had been some fraudulent activity on our account (6 charges to hotels in London England that were of course not made by us as we were in BC).
Usually, most credit card companies have algorithms to catch activities like this - not PC Financial. RBC Visa or Mastercard would have called us right away. Funny how PC Financial sent my wife a new card but did not mention that we had over $2500.00 of bogus charges on our account. They say it was 'just a coincidence! Ya, right.
After 5 conversations with different people who eventually 'opened a file' on this matter - they said on August 24th that we would be re-imbursed on our next statement. Not right away as most 'real' banks do. On our next PC Mastercard statement, guess what... no reimbursement!!! Shocker. The same guy that jacked up bread prices for Westons/Loblaws, must be in charge of their credit card division. Talk about cagey!
I just spoke with the seventh rep at PC Financial and they say that we will see a re-imbursement for these fraudulent changes on our next statement around the 3rd week in October. So it takes almost two months to get our money back. If I didn't keep after them from the start, they likely wouldn't have said anything nor reimbursed us. I would suggest that you consider another card, or watch these guys like a hawk! Just trying to share a horrible experience ("Mikey Mouse" outfit) with other people. Buyer beware.

I had a bad experience with PC Financial MC. When I tried to ask them to dispute the transaction, they were not helpful. They didn't care to resolve the problem that the customer has and the customer service agent talked rudely. I can't believe that they provide such a service like that when I have a problem disputing a transaction. I need the proof for the transaction that I made but the merchant can't give me that. The merchant said that it is not in their system, however, my credit card has been charged. So, I asked PC Financial to dispute it, so the merchant can give the proof of my purchase. Sadly, PC Financial said that it is not something they can dispute. They want me to deal with the merchant. I can say now, bye PC Financial. You are not recommended at all.

My card was unfortunately affected by fraudulent activity. I contacted customer service and a new card was scheduled to be sent. I did not receive the card for two months. I contacted customer service again and again was told that the card would be sent in the mail. In the end, a charge of $6.83 was on my account while I was awaiting the new card. I was planning on waiting till I received the new card. However, my account was instead suspended over the balance. Over $6.83. Without any notification. It is also very inconvenient to get ahold of any customer service agent. Be prepared to stay on hold for a good amount of time.
I highly recommend against enrolling with their services. They did not hold up their end of sending credit cards but they expect prompt payments. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say both cards were lost in the mail. It is weird to suspend an account without any notice. This influenced my decision to cancel my card. Good riddance.

I signed up for a regular debit account. It was “approved” right in store and I started to receive emails to deposit into my account prior to even receiving my card. Luckily I didn’t. Got my card in the mail and tried to set everything up but I was unable to sign into my account. I spoke with 4 customer service representatives and was hung up on twice after waiting long periods. I got different information from all of them. One said they don’t know why my account was closed but a supervisor could for sure help me-hung up on. Another said I can’t open another account for 6 months now. And the last one told me that it was to do with my email address. The same email I used to open the account with a week prior and was receiving all the emails to deposit money into. Still have yet to speak to a supervisor, I don’t think PC Financial has any.
None of it makes sense I have a MasterCard with another company- no problems. My credit is fine. Plus this was just supposed to be a regular checking account. After doing research they seem to close accounts often for no reason. Some people lose money that is in those accounts when this happen. Not going to re apply. I would suggest doing thorough research if you really want to be with this bank. You also can’t deposit money into your account other than direct deposit or etransfer.

I received card on June 29 as well as an email advising me to fund the account. I tried to activate the card I received and the account number was never there. I call them to mannerly activate the account only to be told the account was closed on June 30. When trying to speak to someone, I can't get a straight answer as why the account is closed without warning or explanation. I have set up the payroll banking info based on the knowledge that the account is up running. The whole process is total waste of my time and energy. This has led me to believe the product is absolute scam. I have "excellent" credit score. Should this incident affect my credit score, I will seek legal consultation. Meantime, I DO NOT recommend anyone to apply this account regardless how enticing the product may seem to be. For any financial institution, such behavior is totally unacceptable.

I have made multiple calls to PC Financials/Optimum points but no one answers to simple question why I am not getting points of PC Financials. Not only that, they are very rude and highly unprofessional in call. If you ask questions, they hung up or start yelling on you. This is very shameful behaviour of PC Financials, basically they know that the points system is in high demand so they don't care about its customer service. They on purpose have untrained people so customer don't call them again! This opinion is not after one call, but after multiple calls and multiple issues at various times.

No idea how this has any stars - an absolute joke of a Company. Applied for the PC Mastercard and received approval. No card for several weeks and so called them - they basically stated that I had actually been unapproved due to "process error". Asked why they hadn't contacted me to let me know was met with nothing more than a I don't know but basically ended up being human error. I spoke to this individual called Jesse who stated this happened all the time at the Company. Told me to reapply and should be able to get it approved. It wasn't. When asked why, they couldn't tell me but it didn't align with their lending policies, whatever that means. Honestly a joke of a Company - Loblaws must be bleeding money with these people running it.

I signed up with PC Financial to move our banking over to their 'Money' account. I already had a PC Mastercard. The experience was absolutely awful!! The website kept glitching, I tried everything and was unable to use my Money account. I couldn't transfer, fund it or anything. I tried different computers, clearing cookies, cache etc.
I reached out to customer service, and they were zero help. I called again the next day and they said someone from web support would fix it and reach out to me within 2 business days. Nothing, crickets. I reached out via chat, they said the same thing and apologized. 1 week after that, I called AGAIN and was told it would be escalated and they were sorry....still nothing. This went on for 6 weeks! I finally asked them to just close my account. That was over a month ago, the account still isn't closed. This is an AWFUL place to trust with your money. Also, after 2 years of having their PC Mastercard, and paying it always on time - they randomly lowered my credit limit today...I have no idea why. I won't even bother calling because I know I won't get anywhere. I'm going to pay this card off and close everything with PC. Stay Away!!!!

I have signed up for PC Money Account by thinking I will save some money on everyday groceries and it went well for 3-4 months then suddenly no points were getting added to my PC Optimum account out of my total expenses!! The sales person told me I will receive 10 points for spending 1 cent by using PC Money account in participation stores and I received it under "PC Money Account Spend Promo" for initial 3-4 months and then suddenly it disappeared. Now I am owing to PC Optimum a sum of 45000 points and I have already 2-3 cases open with PC Optimum department and 1 case under PC Money account department but so far no outcome. I have been calling 2 times every week to PC Optimum department and every single agent saying specialist/escalation team working on it!!
If I ask for manager/supervisor they aren't available on the floor on a mid day of a weekday. Not Only that, none of them aren't aware about the "PC Money Account Spend Promo". I have already pointed them the promo from my previous points history and provided them all details about the points I am expecting now but seems either their escalation team sucks at their job or there are so many customers are suffering like me and they can't close cases on time. I had to stop using my PC money account for groceries as it is not giving me any benefit that I have been promised by PC Financial to receive.
Most likely soon I will be cancelling this PC Money account as I feel PC Financial is just making fake promises to get more customers but simply not eligible to maintain them. Every PC Customer service department are horrible with their services. I feel awful whenever I had to call them because I know they aren't helpful at all, especially they aren't fully aware of their job related information. I won't sign up for any more PC products and most likely will be cancelling what I currently have because I believe the company launching new products without a strong base support and customers like me who believe in them are nothing but just the sufferer!!

What seems like a value add with points to save on purchases becomes a nightmare if you EVER have to dispute a transaction or deal with fraud. The online method with a robot in chat is a neverending circle of nonsense, and finally a phone call. That was answered relatively soon, but even after contacting the merchant directly to verify the preauthorized order is Canceled, received email confirmation, etc... this is still not reversed, and PC states it can take up to 15 days, which is when we can proceed with a dispute if the charges are not reversed.
In the past, a fraudulent charge from a website that NEVER shipped from a domain that renamed itself after 7 days was not removed either, because PC claimed we had to contact the merchant...the one that DIDN'T exist, and never replied, and just kept the money! There is no customer service here. Best advice I can offer here... don't do it. YOU WILL REGRET IT, over and over. Go with a legit financial institution, and don't rely on points programs. I've never had issues with my bank issued Visa. There is no value here. I will be paying this off, and cutting it up.

They drag it out saying it’s because transactions are “pending” - but regardless the math does not add up. So many times I’ve had money just leave the account with no trace. When I am a victim of fraud who do they expect me to reply to a phone call and answer questions that could put me under further risk as anyone could impersonate their call. The process should be that they allow me to call them and then I trust which party I am calling, they can do the verification they need and then address my situation. When I asked to escalate to a manager, the reply I got that the manager will phone me back. So same story goes on.

I had an account for 2 years prior to this ridiculous incident and had a great report with them. My account was always in good standing! Last January I had lent a fellow mother $40 for formula. She paid me back the $40's via etransfer... Months later I go to use my card and boom account is locked so I call, sit on hold for 2.5 hrs, spoke to 6 different people before someone was able to have authority to transfer me to a supervisor. I'm told there is nothing I can do... like what? Then I find out the fellow mother was a victim of fraudulent activities regarding her bmo bank so because I had received a $ 40 email it was now frozen. I was evicted 2 times because my cheques were directly deposited and my income support worker would not put another bank on file because I could not get a closing account balance.
They kept my money so I got the fellow mother to go to her bank and prove it was not a scam etransfer so they marked etransfer as legitimate so here we are 1 whole year later and my student loan was accidentally disbursed in to what I was told a closed account $ 11,600 and I suppose to Live off this pay my rent, a portion of my tuition oh and my 2 year old daughter. I'm pissed. I'm on the verge of an emotional and or mental breakdown. I spend week on hold, transferred to 6 different people to only be hung up on or told it's been ESCALATED and I'll get a response in 1 business day .... Yeah been weeks. Still waiting so I continued to call at this point. I'm begging them to help me. Finally I'm told I'll be granted temporary access to withdraw the money. Now I'm crying out of happiness. I'm told I'll receive a call the next day. Never came... so again I'm on hold 3 hrs. Finally a supervisor was available only to tell me that a check as been mailed out and I will receive it in 25- 30 days. WHAT THE **? I'M SEEKING LEGAL ACTION!

TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE! On the phone, the representative actually swore at me. First, I had been waiting a long time to speak with someone, and when I did, a representative answered the phone. When the supervisor answered the phone, he didn't care about my wait time or the fact that his representative didn't know how to navigate the app; instead, he yelled at me and swore.
When I tried to refocus the conversation back to the original argument of the dispute. He started to tell me that the transaction came out from the other card on the account and when I was telling him that he is wrong, it came out of the other card, he hung up the phone. As per their corporate policy, the call was recorded, and I'm hoping that someone will be able to listen to it. His tone, demeanour, and reasoning left me speechless. This is twice in less than a year after over 20 years of loyalty. I texted valid, did not unlock it. I called but the rep could not unlock it. I called back the next day and no reps could unlock my account. They froze my credit card and my banking account! I couldn’t even log into my account! This is not acceptable, especially for such simple things that I cannot get assistance with on the app or online. If the wait is going to be so long, they should put a system in place that allows customers to wait in queue and get a call when a customer service representative is ready.
There have also been many occasions where I have been transferred, I waited, and the call was dropped. In my experience with other companies, I would receive a courtesy call back, but never with PC financial. When I visit the in-person team at Loblaw grocery stores, they cannot help me and refer me to calling the customer service line. So what is the point in having them present? No point in trying to sell a product that you can't provide help and assistance with... I wait hours on hold just to be told a supervisor will have to call me back but nobody ever calls. Did I mention I’ve only had this account one month. Most of the representatives want to help but the don’t know how and all they can do is offer to have somebody call me back. Their online messaging centre is no better after 6 days and many messages I finally get a reply telling me somebody will call me but once again the call never comes… I finally lodged a complaint with the BBB it’s probably the only way I’ll get my own money.

Telephone wait times are always unreasonable. I had my card stolen and though I was able to report it stolen and have it canceled relatively quickly online I waited over 2 hours by phone to report fraudulent charges. As I couldn't always wait over 2 hours each time this had to happen three times. As I'd reported illegal charges my online account was frozen and I had to call in to have it unlocked. Again, 2 hour phone waits. I could not activate the new card as I was locked out of my online account and after waiting 2 hours 20 minutes the call service operator had to refer me to the fraud security department. I said I would not wait another 2 hours on hold and I was assured this would not happen. After a further 30 minutes on hold and no answer I hung up, emailed requesting a paper copy of my account be mailed and to close my account. I cut up the never activated card and see no use for this product.

I only used my card once, then they locked me out. I tried to call, and even if I waited, once I was through to a representative, the call dropped and nobody called me back. I then went to step two, emailing them and explaining that I have no more interest or need, that I want to shut down.
No one answered but the irony of it all is that billing has no problem emailing me. The amount jumped over $3,000, I have no idea where they came up with this imaginary number when I was only able to make one purchase. I'd like to comment on the level of customer service that PC Financial provides to its customers. My main gripe is the lengthy wait time before speaking with a customer service representative. It's ridiculous that I had to wait on hold for over an hour to speak with a service representative. A company with "unlimited" funds should not treat its customers in this manner. The wait times are far too long. Then, when you finally get through, the quality of the phone call is abysmal. Your call centre (which is not located in North America) has poor reception and your call agents are difficult to understand and the dispute agents are rude. It's extremely inconvenient that you can't get your issue resolved immediately and that I had to resort to posting a negative review.
There is no plausible explanation that you can offer that is understandable, let alone acceptable. I am quite upset that I am unable to obtain personal customer support by interacting with an agent. The following is said on your website: "PC Bank is committed to resolving customer complaints fairly and in a timely manner," That is a heinous lie. What would it take for PC Financial to repair its reputation with its clients? If it were the first time, I would forgive the lengthy delay, but that is not the case. I've had many occasions where I've been on hold for hours before being able to discuss my timely and important problems. It's a concern that many of your customers are having. All you have to do is read the numerous web reviews regarding your customer service. I believe PC Financial does not take those comments seriously. Customers should be treated with more respect and appreciated for their business.

They haven't done it yet so maybe I shouldn't give them just a 1 but I did see on their website when I went into my account to get my balance owing... It was saying something about if World Elite cardholders don't charge at least $15,000 per year on the card starting soon I think... It will be downgraded to a reg. PC M/C... Seriously??? How can they take back a card that is in good standing. I probably charge about $10,000-$12,000 a year on the card & I pay it in full every month & if I don't increase my charges they will take it back??? The only extra on it is you get 3% back on purchases at Super Store & Shoppers & at the pumps there I think. Otherwise it is 1% everywhere else I believe... so that might be 3% on $200/month or less...the rest is 1%. Same as reg PC card. I can't believe they would do such a thing??
I didn't get a personal notice sent to me but I just happened to read it on their website. What does everyone think about this?? Also while I'm at it, I also notice that if you purchase lottery tickets on your card, they treat it like a cash withdrawal & start charging you interest from the day of purchase even if you pay off the balance by the due date?? What the heck is up with that... Even when I called in to CS to ask why there are interest charges they couldn't even explain it at first. I finally got someone that asked me if I ever put lottery tickets on the card & I was told they treat it as a cash withdrawal. I don't think other credit cards do this, do they??
Anyway time to look for another card I think...but I would love to hear how people feel about having your world Elite card that is in good standing taken away if you don't charge enough. I could see if people only use it for groceries at Super Store & for nothing else... Maybe then... but $10,000 is not enough for someone to charge to be good enough of a customer to keep the World Elite M/C? I'm pretty sure there are better cards out there. This is making me look for a different one... because if they do it, I will not take their replacement card...It's the principle of the thing!

I have been a long-time PC Mastercard holder and was happy to get some free food after making purchases and paying bills with my PC Mastercard. But then things changed. I signed up for automatic credit card bill payments at the end of the month and signed up for text alerts whenever a purchase was made. What I got was random texts for mostly small purchases under $50, and next to no texts for larger purchases, including two large unauthorized purchases for hacking software. I then went to dispute the charges, and it took over 3 weeks for the charges to come off. That was the least of my problems. My full balances were not paid at the end of the month, as I had signed up for. Instead, a large amount was left on, which would then accumulate interest if not manually paid by me, so I had to log on and pay the remaining balance.
That sort of defeats the purpose of signing up to have the full balance paid through my bank account, and now I regret giving them all my bank account information. I then tried to purchase $500 worth of cryptocurrency on Kraken using the Mastercard, as the Kraken website had that option of using a MasterCard or Visa. NOTE: In order to sign up to be a Kraken account holder, there are way more security hoops you have to jump through than to get a PC MasterCard mailed to your home. Anyway, after going through additional security measures that involved getting a 5 digit PIN number texted to me, which I then entered into a window, the purchase was denied. Naturally, I tried to do it again, and again it was denied. At no time did I get a pop-up saying this credit card cannot be used to make a cryptocurrency purchase on Kraken. And being as the card worked for a previous crypto coin purchase, I tried again.
So, after trying and failing three times, I logged off of Kraken. Two days later, I see that I was locked out of my PC Mastercard online account. So, of course, I called the 1 866 246 7262 at about 1:45 am, and followed the prompts to resolve being locked out. I pressed 4 and then 3. I then waited about 15 minutes and then heard 5 beeps, and then the phone went dead. The next day I called the number again and went through all the prompts, only to wait another 17 minutes, only then to be told I had to be transferred to their Security division. WTH? So what division was I waiting to get? The “Please hold while I transfer you again division”? Anyway, I was then transferred to “Security” where I waited for another 12 minutes before talking to them.
Then, after another 5 minutes of them confirming it was me they were talking to, like someone else would ever pretend they were me so they could go through such a hassle just to get my account back online, I was then told that even though I had successfully purchased cryptocurrency online on Kraken in the past using that same credit card, and paid all my bills in full at the end of the month, that any further attempted purchases of any cryptocurrency would result in me being locked out again. And get this, the Security officer said she gets many calls from people who have the same problem, in trying to buy crypto coins online, and that, of course, they don’t support that, as they are part of the big banking system cartel that does not want to lose control of the money flow.
So, the bottom line is I will now go looking for a credit card that allows me to make crypto coin purchases online, and that has a better cashback system, and then I will cancel my PC Mastercard, as I’m really tired of getting very well picked through fruits and vegetables and then standing in a long line up to check out, and in the end only saving a maximum of $10 on my purchase, unless I bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff. Enough said.

I have been with PC since it started (20+ years), then they changed their name to Simplii. My PC elite card was pulled because I was not spending enough money during last year (Covid & lockdowns!!!) & their features are not as good as my other cards - that's why I use my other cards more often. I had never agreed to downgraded my card nor wanted to be subjected to all the new requirements. Since it only can collect PC points, they want me to spend over 25k per year to get it back. Do you really think your card is that special? All we talk about is PC points not gold here. What a joke. I will simply spend the remaining 2k in points at Loblaws and not use this card again.
On top of that, they have extremely long wait time, customer service representatives hardly speak English, lack of product knowledge and bad manner (eg. Lately I was always being addresses by my first name without permission, I was told a few times "my bad" - they treated my calls as social causal ones when we were talking about money and business!). The $900.00 that I transferred was lost. I phoned PC Financial service to inquire why the $900.00 was not deposited. I was told it would be deposited in the account within the next hours. WRONG.
I waited until the 1st of February 2021 and called customer service to find out where the funds were. After being transferred to 4 departments and expressing my frustration, the service staff hung up the phone. I waited until Friday, February 5th to follow up to confirm the funds were finally returned to my account. WRONG AGAIN. Once again I was transferred to 4 departments and repeated the same information, name, address, phone number, DOB, by this time I was livid. Angry, I answered each repetitive question by a person who was extremely difficult to understand.
I asked why the money was not deposited yet and where it was. I was told it would be deposited within 24 hours, guaranteed. February 7th I looked into my account and saw the funds were still not deposited. By this time I was furious. It appears they (customer service) are robots and say only what they are trained to say. I was so darn angry that I was getting zero assistance, that I asked to speak to a supervisor, BOOM-they hung up the phone.
I got in my car and drove to the PC Pavilion in Langley, and spoke to "Jesse", she phone "Siras" and demanded to inform me where the funds were. I refused to talk to anyone who I would have to communicate on the phone too. FINALLY, Jesse, had Siras confirm they have no idea where the money is and that they will try to have it in my account by Tuesday, February 9th. I absolutely will close my account once the funds have been deposited. I've had the PC MasterCard for over 10 years. My wife and I both have a card and use it like a bank card, making sure to pay the entire balance on time each month. We've never done the calculations, but we feel the amount of free groceries (there are other options to use your points but groceries are the most convenient for us) we receive far outweighs any benefit we have earned from other credit cards - including a TD Aeroplan card that we pay $150 a year for (but not for much longer). We've had a couple of issues with customer service but no worse (and I would suggest better) than any other card I've had.
The fact that all of the reviews here are bad suggests to me that only angry consumers comment here and the low number considering how many clients they have and how long they have been in business is actually a positive endorsement. Some of the comments seem like people are just ticked off by the terms and conditions that they agreed to when they signed up for the account/promotion. Read the fine print and you won't be surprised. I would recommend (and have done so) this card to anyone.

Not to mention that if you will mention that you are not in front of your computer you will be given info that makes no sense or have no logic. (Ex: I was asked if I applied for a balance transfer at the time I applied for a card - how would I be able to do this if I have no idea if I am approved and what is the card 16 digits #..)
Useless to say that in these times of COVID-19 challenges to have a financial company holding your $4200 for weeks and telling you that you will be getting your money back in 30 days to me is a matter of sending the lawyers after them.... Make no mistake: my balance is 0 as this was my freaking first transaction with them, it was supposed to be a balance transfer, long story short: balance transfer done online, called after 20 min to cancel, confirmed as cancelled but in 5 days, not cancelled so I paid the money back and two weeks after then took their money back again charging my other CC with $ 4200.... Will solve this and cancel and then will come back with the full story: to you and everyone else that has a review page. STAY AWAY!!!!

Where was this information when I signed up? Another week goes by... I get 20,000 of those points. At that point I emailed them and again "so sorry, my apologies, sorry, the remainder of the points will come in 4- 6 weeks" and proceed to ask if I have any further questions. I applied to for a PC MasterCard from President's Choice Financial recently and the experience was extremely poor. It didn't take long to apply, but when requested documents were set to help prove my credit rating was good (it's excellent by the way) the documents were ignored three times and representative who continue to call asking for the same documents. Eventually I went into a store to deal with the situation only to find that PC Financial closed the application out. The store representatives then helped to start the application again and a week later I get a letter indicating I can't apply for a card while the initial application is being processed (though it was actually cancelled by PC Financial).
After talking to a representative on the phone again I find out that once an application is cancelled an applicant can't apply again for six months. Maybe it's true but the store representative should have known that. Regardless, the cancelled application actually has now taken a hit on my credit rating which was excellent and all I got for my troubles was wasted time. Avoid this group and their cars, there are points bargains elsewhere which are just as good and have much less headaches.

I had paid an installment more than the minimum payment due, and 12 days before the due date as well. I had called previously to announce that I would be paying this amount on this day. When I checked online banking I saw that even if the balance was less than the credit limit by exactly the amount I had paid, there was still an available credit of $0.00.
When I called customer 'service' for clarification, I was connected to an agent who sounded stoned and completely disinterested. There were no supervisor available...surprise. When I called back to talk to a supervisor about the 'quality' of this call, I was put on hold so long that I eventually hung up. This card is getting consolidated and done with asap - never again.

President's Choice is a very good choice when it comes to groceries in Canada. Unfortunately, we opted to enroll with their Mastercard as there was a discount at their gas pump and points for purchasing groceries. They do not sell gas anymore. Since we shop at Costco we elected to keep the card. Loblaw's should keep to selling produce, but, not provide financial services.
This card is not supported by a team of good customer care agents. Except for the gentleman I talked to, regarding an unauthorized purchase, all other customer agents I came across were rude and read-out company standard statements without taking the time to listen to the customer complaint or issue. Adding insult to injury, one would have to wait holding the line for at least 20 minutes or more to talk to one of them too. Either PC has gone to the extra length of finding the rudest people in Canada to answer their phones, or have trained them to do so. Obviously, we have to drop this card and look for alternates. Not because I forgot the password, something seems to be constantly being updated. And now I have not been able to see my transactions for 2 weeks. Finally when I did get the access, my app seems to be missing 8 days in transactions. How is that even possible?! Apparently this is caused by delays related to launch of new website. Although, in the past with old website there a lag in transactions as well, which for a consumer equates to consistent overspending because you assume that spent less than you actually did, obviously works great for the credit card company.
I would not recommend this card for that reason and I will have to look for another card that does mask or hide my activity. Consumer should be able to see what is going in the account, and you should not have to call to get verbal description of what is going on in your account. I've actually had this card for years. I rarely use it - I keep it in a drawer. About once a year or so, I'll have reason to use it and will be declined for "unusual activity" or the transaction will go through and I'll be contacted out of the blue by their loss prevention team and have to jump through hoops just to get the card going again. I rarely miss paying off the card on time, but when I do with this card, the interest rates are usurious. And if the customer service were actually non-existent, it would be better than it is now. It's easily the worst customer service I have ever encountered anywhere. Just now, I called and asked how to change the PIN on my credit card. After asking me why I wanted to do that (none of his business) he point-blank refused to answer the question until I gave him my card number and ran through the security questions. When I refused to do that and asked to speak to his Manager, he hung up on me.
Thus the reason for this poor review, but really it was a long time coming. It's easy for a company to do well when things do right, but again and again PC Financial MasterCrap show how pathetically unable they are to provide even the minimum level of service beyond processing tiny transactions within 10km of the home mailing address. It serves you right if you're ever dumb enough to travel somewhere with this as your only card.

Customer service has also submitted numerous (probably around 5-8 at this point) requests for IT to look into my account and this has been entirely inconsequential. If I had to guess, it seems that PC outsourced their new website to a profoundly incompetent IT company (probably due to the cost savings) and is now paying the price (as are their customers).
To the company's credit, they did waive an interest fee that resulted from my not being able to submit business expenses in time (because they were incapable of providing the very basic service that is an accessible online account). But in the end, that's a pretty low bar and if I wasn't reaping an incredible amount of PC Optimum points with this card, it would have been canceled over a month ago. One guy who I could barely understand said that the points might coupled together from different transactions, so I went through all my transactions and he couldn't find the points either. But no one helps at all. When I speak with PC Mastercard I'm told it's a PC Optimum issue, and when I speak with PC Optimum I'm told it's a PC Mastercard issue. How fortunate they have each other to blame. I recently found out that when you use your points to pay, you don't get points on your purchases.
Today I got totally fed up when once again I couldn't access my Mastercard account online. A credit card is useless if you have to wait for a paper bill through snail mail. When is this nightmare going to end? I am missing thousands of points which I consider to be fraud and I actually threatened them with the Better Business Bureau - no reply, but fraud it is. I guess that's my next step except it's difficult to go through all my bills and points statements and I have wasted so much time already, and time is money.

I have had PCFinancial MC for many years. PROS: Good point rewards. No Complaints there. CONS: This card is NOT accepted everywhere, particularly at Asian Airports. My account at Amazon was hacked with fraudulent Charges appearing on my statement. PCFinancial was notified immediately and they promised to fix it. Two month later I received a letter stating: "After a thorough review the President's Choice Financial MasterCard and Fraud Investigation Department has determined that the transaction(s) claimed as fraudulent were either made by you, your authorized cardholder(s) or another person known to you and/or you have failed to cooperate with the investigation".
Turns out that they did NOT investigate anything but referred to a printout of the transaction from Amazon, a copy of which they send me. Luckily I know a bit about computers and noticed the IP address (supposedly mine) below my Name and e-mail. THIS IP address belongs to a computer more than 1000km away. I immediately called PCFinancial with these facts.
Here is what really upsets me: As far as PCFinancial customer service is concerned the investigation is completed and I am on my own... End of story. Had they taken 2 minutes with a knowledgeable IT person it would have finished, but they didn't which indicates that the person on the other end is reading a script, nothing more. I did send an e-mail to PCFinancial about this and so far no reply.
My recommendation: Do NOT use this card for online purchases, make sure you get a receipt every time you use it. I had a similar incident with a Credit Card from one of the big banks many years ago, and the problems were resolved by that bank in short order. Summary: PCFinancial is a good credit card. But it fails completely protecting their clients from fraud. Period. Full stop! If you charge a lot, as I do, and security is a major concern, avoid this card.

I used to enjoy having this credit card but no longer. Recently they changed their online website making it inaccessible and I can no longer use online access to check my spending and bills. When I try log in asks to type on the first try the credit card number, the expiration date and phone. After typing this perfectly correct it reports it as incorrect information and displays a new form asking this time to type card, name and postal code. Again after typing it correctly it reports it as incorrect, then it shows a third form to type card number expiration date and birthday, and after typing all correct it reports, "your account has been locked for too many invalid entries, try again later".
No matter how many tries I make the result is the same. I called them and ask for help and they verified me as the account owner but they were not able to provide online access. We have at home 2 computers with Windows 7 and 10 and 3 Android phones with different system. We tried all major browsers on all devices and nothing works. One other thing I discovered while looking for someone of importance to complain to I came across 2 website that stated that PC FINANCIAL has a problem with Transgendered people. Maybe that is why I have been treated this way.
I have never used this card before and don't like using it now but this could just be the reason for the non existent help. I have contacted the ombudsman for help but as I have said I get no response. And will he be fair or just brush it off like all the rest? Asked for a credit increase; was given the increase then two months later they lowered it lower than it was prior to my asking. Then I called to ask "What the Heck?" and was told that I was using my credit too much. So if I am paying more than the required minimum every month and never miss a payment, what do you care how much I use my card? Following the above conversation, they lowered my credit again. Then I made several payments adding up to over $2000.00 in a month.
As of yesterday I now had over $2500.00 available on my card and today I go and check my account and my credit limit was reduced by $3000.00! This puts my card in a almost maxed out status when yesterday I had over $2500.00 available. They will affect your credit and are CROOKS. It felt almost too good to be true, but all good things come to an end I guess... I have never had any issues with them until about 2 months ago. When I tried logging into my account online it says that my account has been blocked and to call customer support. The 3 different people I have talked to just say that it's a "technical issue" and they're working on it. Any good company would have fixed an issue like this in a day or two, but 2 months is ridiculous. The only way for me to check my account balance is to call a customer support agent and get them to tell me or else ask them to mail me a monthly paper statement.
Long story short, I'm going to be calling them today to find out my exact balance so I can pay it off and cut up my card. There are many other credit card companies who provide better customer service. Personally, I'll be going with Canadian Tire and their Triangle mastercard. I and my family members have decided to change credit cards to a different bank that downloads transaction to software and make life easier. If no improvement in the site, plan to cancel the credit card. Thanks Peter.

I recently went through the pain... er, meant to say process of "verifying" my info to access the new website... Don't know where to begin. I've been in the Web industry for the past 20 years. This is rather bad to say the least! Firstly the communication about the change was handled rather poorly. Secondly, they could have had a sneak preview or something running in parallel to the old site, in order to unobtrusively solicit real-users' feedback re: the new site.
Thirdly, I have no idea where they picked up the UX "experts" who designed the new UI. This is rather atrocious. The "old" experience was much cleaner and more functional in every way - less clicks required to what users ultimately want to see. To see transactions one has to go to the Transactions page... On a 15" laptop screen users can now see a total of 2... TWO transactions above-the-fold! (Prior to "redesign" one could see 10 or 15+ lines).
Also, it is not entirely clear but based on their Terms and Conditions it appears all alerts functionality is outsourced to a 3rd party (i.e. not just the mobile alerts, but also -as it appears- email notifications!? As such I don't feel comfortable enabling email alerts). At any rate, this is a major disaster. I suspect their call center is now inundated with calls from clients (they even have a dedicated queue just related to the redesign. #7... (Warning: the wait time is super long). Just did a Google search and came up with this and a few other sites where numerous customers voiced same concerns about the new site.
In the end, it's not just the value that the card provides which influence customers' perception about the brand and its products, but the whole experience. I've shared my concerns via their Contact Us support queue, and I hope they realize -soon- this was executed rather poorly. I am considering switching back to PAPER statements, as they still follow FINANCIAL norms, unlike the new website which was seemingly designed for kindergarteners(?)...unless of course paper statements were "re-designed" as well.

Not only that the newly launched PC Mastercard website is full of bugs, unable to log in, unable to reset password, but also more important it is designed for kindergarten kids, not for credit card users! With giant pictures, huge logos in front of each transaction. Sure it is fun to look for 2 seconds, but it is very useless. Those giant logos make each page only be able to display 5 transactions or so. It is such a pain if you have to browse through your 80 transactions per month. The "Dashboard" now does not provide any useful information like the old website, instead it displays a few bars here and there with no meaning to anyone. I totally agree that whoever approved this new website should be fired! It totally ruined PC Mastercard customers' online experience. With the many banking institutions website I have been visiting, this is the WORST, far far far behind everyone else.

This is just to add my voice to the others who are as appalled as I at the removal of functionality that all other institutions and credit cards that I use provide. I agree with the person who said that whoever approved this "upgrade" to the website should be fired. It appears that PC Financial is trying to win back the online banking customers that switched to Simplii when the split happened. Hint to management: You don't do that by pissing off your existing customers. Now you not only will not get my banking business, but you've lost my credit card business as well. I've been a PC Financial customer since almost the beginning. I'm feeling really sad to see what was a really good financial institution destroy itself. Really sad.

This new redesigned webpage of PC Financial is a real "piece of work". Transaction are spread so wide on page that you can only see three of them at the time. To print the certain period time of transactions you need pages and pages of paper. Before I could have about 20 transactions printed on one page, now I need 7-8 pages of paper to print the same amount. Was somebody tried to re-invent the wheel? Everything was working perfectly on the old layout design.

Received a new President's Choice CC about 2 weeks ago. Can't set up a login to my account because security procedures are so complicated that their own system keeps failing. Have been trying for 2 weeks to link my PC Optimum points to my PC Mastercard (which appears to be a very simple process) but their system won't process the request. Consequently I don't use the card unless I'm in a Loblaw's facility. I'm not sure what President's Choice Mastercard thinks is so valuable inside their site to demand such a ridiculous level of security but it's got their customers and their helpline people living in total frustration.

When we examined out PC points on a receipt by receipt basis we found far too many errors. Example: Incorrect dollar amounts shown. Sometimes points awarded, sometimes points ignored. Hard to understand the logic of points calculations. Spent 3 (yes 3) hours on phone to guys in Philippines who were extremely helpful but they could not explain the logic of some points awarded. Therefore no faith in Loblaw's system. They are a big boys and thus should have a simple trustworthy system for all customers to follow. Even a our Canadian banks can manage that.

I recently tried to log into the new PC Financial website and the experience was so bad that I cancelled our PC Mastercard. I tried logging in when the site told me I would have to go through a 'verification' process. This ended up with me being caught in a loop. I would input the necessary information and no sooner had I changed my password, it was prompting me to go through the verification process all over again!
After three times, I contacted customer support and noticed that there was a special prompt created solely for issues like the ones I was having. After several more attempts, I managed to get in once. Now I can no longer get in as the system is asking me to go through the verification process all over again. I asked the rep if he had many people calling in with this issue and he told me, not many, just a few people. There are over 50 people on this site who have given a one-star review and have been negatively impacted by the new website.
I am thinking about going to another grocery store and being done completely with Superstore and Loblaws. It's 1:56 am when I writing this but I had to get my frustration with this horrible website off my chest. I would not recommend doing business with PC Financial Mastercard as it only results in sheer frustration with a company that appears to have no regard for its customers when it comes to their horrible new website.

President's Choice Financial Mastercard (PC Mastercard) website upgrade is an abuse of customers. Recently PC Mastercard upgraded its website and in advance of this, there was no advance notice given its customers! The upgrade also required users to re-register and change their password. How rude! Multitudes of people were locked out of their accounts because of a snail like refresh rate to password change into their system. I attempted to change my password four times and locked myself out because of the slow refresh rate.
The fifth time I changed my password, I waited 10 minutes before successfully being able to log in. Can no longer download into Quicken. Their response was, "This is an enhancement we are developing to implement in the future." Since when does removing a feature become an enhancement when it is added back into the software functionality? The only reason to stay with PC Mastercard, an uncaring company, is because of their reward points program.

PC MasterCard reduced my credit limit four times in four months as I paid off the balance. Due to this my utilization ratio did not improve and my credit score did not regain much and I became ineligible for good credits. I had utilized 95% of my PC credit card for two months as I need money, and this resulted in my credit score falling by more than 200 points. Since then I paid off most of my balance in PC credit card, and they reduced my credit limit to the amount I paid off straight for four months. Now I have balance of about 700, and my limit is reduced to 1000. I had about 4900 balance last month, my credit limit was 5300. I had around 5800 balance two months ago and my credit limit was reduced to 6300. Three months ago my balance was 6800, my credit limit was reduced to 7100... Due to this my credit score has not improved as my utilization remained high.
PC employed predatory tactics so that customer pays more interest and becomes ineligible for good credit products. Due to PC tactics I could not become eligible for low interest balance transfer cards and I had to pay PC huge amounts in interest which I would have avoided if PC did not reduce balance so many times to the amount I paid off. PC should advertise about its behaviour. This is not typical behaviour of any credit card companies across the world. PC should apologize customers like me, for spoiling credit history and financial well being. PC should not attract people in grocery shops and cause misery to people.

I have been using this credit card for many, many years. I love its benefits (the points), but I find that I cannot trust it fully. When I receive my monthly statement, I receive it twice - once at about the 18th and the same on the 30th or so. The first time, I ended up paying this bill twice. Now I am wiser. Secondly, I have NOT received my monthly electronic statement this month, which I usually receive on the 18th. It is now the 23rd. And I have spent a lot these past few weeks.
I do not wish to pay interest on this. So, I went on the new revamped site (which leaves a lot to be desired) and cannot find how I am going to receive my electronic statements. I do seem to be able to sign up for E BILLS. There is a place to click for this, but it does not work. I gather that it is up to individuals to check their monthly bills. I have watched the video I received about the new website. It gives no info. It just says that you can view your statements online and save paper. Does anyone know anything about this?

Applied for the President Choice Mastercard. Received it. Tried to use it the first time and it was immediately blocked. Spent several weeks sending them proof of who I was. Sent valid government ID and tax notifications. Then followed up each time with phone calls. Was told they would get back to me but they never did. I followed up and they said they couldn't see the documents clearly. Resent the documents. The images were very clear (they were the first time too). Didn't hear back again. I called to follow up and this time, they said they never received them. I cancelled the card. This company is incompetent and not professional. They don't even deserve the 1 star rating. STAY AWAY! NOT WORTH THE HEADACHES.

I have been happily using the President's Choice Mastercard since its inception. However, the accounting program I use requires a Quicken file, which the new President's Choice Mastercard website does not support. In order to create a file that was acceptable, I had to download the .csv file and add the required columns in the correct order to make it meet the needs of my program. I then saved it as a .csv (comma delimited) file and was eventually able to import the data. This is very messy, time consuming, inconvenient and prone to error.
In addition to the download issue, they are forcing you to go paperless in order to see your statement with the due date and other important information. The "dashboard" is a waste of time and "transactions" take up so much space you spend most of your time scrolling. Also, for those who have reduced eyesight, the light grey print on the screen is very difficult to see. This website is the farthest thing from good customer service but uses most of its space for self-aggrandizement! Return to the original website!

There certainly seemed to be a whole lot of PC selling and PC promotion than with the original. Why my rating? I use Quicken and download my transactions into same. I could not see the option so contacted support only to find this capability HAS BEEN REMOVED. They offered a work around using CSV files but QUICKEN only imports CSV for price updates. I applied for this card when someone who worked for them asked me at Shoppers. They sent the card to the wrong address twice. They called me to let me know the card had been returned to them the first time but didn't bother the second. When I called them to ask what had happened to the card, they basically said, "oh yeah, it came back. Guess we should have called." When they finally got my address right, they sent me the card but then needed additional documents to verify the address. I sent them the documents, and surprise surprise, I heard nothing back.
Today, almost two weeks later, I tried to activate it again, and got transferred to a guy who sounded like he was asleep/drunk. He put me through to someone else, who went on a hunt for the documents as nobody had bothered to do anything with them. Then she said, "I found your documents!" like she had just climbed Mt. Everest. She said she would mark my case "urgent," and would have someone call me with an update. I told her I wouldn't hold my breath and hung up. The people who work here are incompetent morons. I got this credit card to get extra PC points. So far it's worked. I just buy little things like gas and groceries on it. Only have a $1000 limit and it hasn't been a problem. However, somehow last month I underpaid my card by $1.50 and didn't notice. I'd been noticing that my credit card wouldn't work when I went to buy stuff but never called because I didn't have time. Now, when I'm paying this month's bill I noticed that I underpaid by $1.50 so that's probably why I was declined. Seems pretty fickle as this hasn't happened with a BMO cc. Having now read everyone else's review I will be careful if they offer to expand my cc limit, too. Otherwise I have appreciated racking up the points with this card. Paid for my groceries on a road trip just as I had planned. :)

I have had the card for almost a year, started with 5000 limit. I max it out every month between everyday purchases, groceries and all bill payments. I pay it off in full every month as soon as the statement comes out, no interest, no fees, just lots of points. I do not pay to bank and this card gives me that same option. I operate a small distribution business and use 140L of fuel every day 6 times per week, to which I charge to this card. If you are smart with your finances and only spend what you can pay off at months-end this card cost you zero dollars and can you can accumulate a lot of points. FAST.

After being bounced around from useless representative to representative, I learned that they had in fact chosen to cancel my account over a month ago without reaching out to me. I am registering a sincere complaint based on my experience this evening with the PC Financial Customer Service Department. I was just disconnected after two hours of being kept on hold and being transferred between departments and nauseam. This happened a total of five times. That's five transfers between departments, five times explaining my simple request - only to be told I needed to be transferred yet again, and to be put yet again on hold. As of right now, I still have not had my question answered, nor my financial request resolved. My family and I have been loyal customers of PC Financial for over two decades, through numerous Credit Lines, Credit Cards, Chequing and Savings Accounts.
We have chosen PC Financial over and over again, despite considerable competition for our business, based on what we thought PC Financial stood for: straightforward, efficient, effective banking. We have shown considerable patience throughout the many phases and transitions of PC Financial, but over the last few years, with the closure of your in-store booths and decline of anything remotely effective about your telephone banking, PC Financial’s Customer Service has become worse than non-existent. PC Financial has become #1 for incompetent, ineffective, complicated and utterly frustrating experiences with Customer Service and PC banking in general. The inconvenience and utter ineffectiveness of this most recent experience with PC Financial Customer Service Department are completely unreasonable. We expect much, much better in return for our loyalty and patience over the past two decades.
