I will never use Chime again. I disputed a transaction because I was scammed and they basically told me tough luck - nothing they can do. My bad for trusting an online sale and badder for trusting Chime. Basically they make it ideal for scammers because the scammers have no repercussions which is why I assume they use Chime. Chime should be refunding my money and going after the scammers. In my opinion Chime is as much as a scam as the scammers that use it. I guess as long as the money is flowing through Chime - they don't care who or how it is used.

They even put me on hold so I can speak to a supervisor then mysterious was disconnected. I called back and another rep said she saw no notes and I have to submit my DL and birth certificate again to receive my money... Why? I have been dealing with this since February 20, 2026.. I have all recorded conversations and I will notify the news so I can also join in on this class action... This is ridiculous... Chime responded to my last email to give them a chance... But this is where we are again... I keep getting the same message repeatedly... Hold please... 5x... Then we will escalate your issue and you will receive an email... Weeks go pass and the same thing over and over...

Updated on 05/09/2026: Well my issue is still ongoing after the last time I called customer service and they got me a manager and she was the worst manager I have ever talked to!! Took her 20 minutes to get to the call but I figured that that's because she was already looking at my account and had decided what she was going to say ahead of time. She never even gave me a chance to talk. She blamed my checks not getting deposited on the date that they are issued. Which as I said before I have even shown them proof of the fact that I get paid on the 3rd not the third Wednesday or 4th Wednesday of the month. Then she proceeded to keep talking and when I tried to talk she just talked louder faster and came to where she said and, "I can no longer help you with this issue. So I'm ending the call," and she hung up. This means they're not escalating my case, which means they're not looking for my missing deposit from SSA.
Even though they found my money in March and April it took them till the end of the month to find it and get it deposited. However, this time if they do not escalate the case to their team then they won't look for my money. Which means of course they get to keep it if I don't take some measures to stop this. However, what you can do is very limited, but I've got some ideas and I'm doing some posts at the most important sites. Reviews that just tell what I've experienced and nothing more. So right now until I figure something out my money is in limbo and not in my account. I really really really advise not to use chime. I will update this as soon as they give me a reason to it. Going to be a good update or a bad. We'll see.
Original Review: Since switching my Social Security direct deposits to Chime in February, I have experienced repeated issues receiving my monthly payments on time. My official SSA payment date is the 3rd of each month, which I confirmed multiple times directly with the Social Security Administration and through screenshots from the SSA website.
In March, my payment was sent and marked as processed by SSA on March 3rd, yet no deposit appeared in my account. After numerous calls, escalations, and repeated requests for “proof of deposit” — despite the issue being that no deposit existed — Chime finally located and credited my funds on March 31st. The same exact issue happened again in April. SSA confirmed the payment had been sent and processed on April 3rd, but Chime failed to deposit it. After weeks of repeated calls and frustration, the funds were not located until April 28th.
Now the issue has repeated for a third time in May. SSA confirmed my payment was sent on May 1st because the 3rd fell on a weekend, yet again, no deposit was made to my account. Customer service has been extremely difficult to deal with throughout this process. I have been transferred repeatedly, hung up on multiple times, denied access to management, and forced to repeat the same information over and over despite already providing documentation proving my payment date. Most concerning is that this month, Chime has refused to escalate my case at all. Without escalation, there is no investigation into where the missing deposit is or what happened to the funds. Which would mean Chime would keep my money.
I feel that if I do not continue pushing this issue and taking outside action, my money will simply remain unresolved while no effort is made to locate it. Chime still has not corrected the incorrect payment schedule information on my account, nor have they addressed why my SSA payments are repeatedly being processed but not deposited. Each delay has caused serious financial hardship, additional expenses, and unnecessary stress.
At this point, I am pursuing further action, including filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, and other consumer protection agencies. I will also continue sharing my experience publicly so others are aware before trusting Chime with important direct deposits. If anyone has experienced something similar or has advice on additional steps I should take, I would appreciate the guidance.

They are a terrible Bank when it comes to assistance with fraud claims! I was frauded $647.00 and the took only two days, whereas most banks take 4-6 weeks to investigate!? Their response was, " We see no fraud because you have your card in your possession." Have they not heard of restaurant, internet, card reading scams?! And don't ask for a manager as there is none, just peons that read from a script! They have a parent bank, overseer who states they don't get involved, Stride Bank!! We were the victims of fraud and found that Chime has developed a platform that enables fraud. They also refuse to monitor their platform and remove individuals who have scammed when presented evidence of the scam to prevent that individual from using their platform for another crime. They not only developed a vehicle that scammers must love but also refuse to protect their members that are using their application in good faith. Use at your own risk, which is not something I would say of their competitors and as you can see from this AI search reply: User Experience & Trust: While some users love the user-friendly, "stress-free" app, many others report significant issues with customer support and resolving fraudulent transactions, often finding themselves without recourse after money is stolen.

Absolutely horrible. Their website says there is no transaction number limit on “pay anyone” function, but yet after a few failed transactions which their system counted as real transaction (even though they didn’t go through) I got a message saying I exceeded daily limit of seven transactions which I was not even aware was a thing. I got no warning from the system about this rule beforehand. I had to get this money to someone that day and could not. And my debit limit was less than the amount I was trying to send so I couldn’t send an instant transfer either, and bank-to-bank transfer would take three days, so I was stuck.
This really caused me a great upset, and I spent a total of four hours on the phone talking to five people, two of which were supervisors and they were clueless and didn’t seem to understand how their own system works because every advice they gave me as a solution failed. Sadly, Chime doesn’t come close to replacing a real bank’s checking account

I have had 3 replaced cards with ever single one of them hacked & drained. The customer service is pathetic. They're very polite and friendly but they lie about your account. I kept my physical card frozen and put away. But somehow all the fraudulent transactions are linked to the physical card which is impossible. Further, the LOCATIONS of the fraudulent transactions are equally impossible as they are many States away from my location & I have NOT traveled to ANY of them.
The dispute process is lengthy & fruitless & they make absolutely NO effort to refund. They DO NOT PROTECT their customers in any way & their system has NO SECURITY sufficient to protect your funds from theft. & They refuse to accept any liability for THEIR failures to protect their customers from theft. The ease with which these THIEVES are able to hack into your card as well as the FREQUENCY of fraud incidents causes me to suspect that it's an INTERNAL personnel employee issue. So where do we begin with this scam company? I signed up because they made it really enticing with their extra few dollars that they provide you. And then it all went to ** They were supposed to send me a debit card which they sent to an entirely different address. I called back to check to see where they sent it and had to give them a new address. That was in January and I’ve still yet to receive the card.
Fast-forward to now and I deposited my tax funds with chime. Nowhere in any of the writing when I initially signed up, did it say that I could only remove $1000 to my other bank and then I would be stuck with them locking my money up for the rest of the duration of one month. They then after four calls two supervisors tell me that I can connect my checking account however you can only pull out a minimal amount of funds because you have no debit card. Which makes absolutely zero sense and because there’s no branch, you can’t go grab your money so they are holding it hostage. Since you’re dealing with people from a Third World country, they don’t have the same values you do in yours. They don’t care whether or not you have your money or not. It’s some Indian customer service group and God knows where.
So after talking to them yesterday for the seventh time and then again today for the eighth time, I was told that no my debit card still hasn’t not been sent. Amazing since a week ago somebody told me that it had been. And then I was given two choices cancel my account, which I’m going to do anyway and wait 30+ days to get my money via check or wait for a debit card. That’s never gonna show up or wait a month from the day that I did my ACH transfer before I could touch any of my money again. They are holding people's monies hostage. Do not do business with these scam artists.

Trying different accounts 1st without success, I was talked into opening a Chime account to transfer the money easier. He had made me so upset and somehow believing his story that he worked with Venmo that I continued opening a Chime account to transfer the money that I needed to reimburse. Although, me opening a Chime account is not the scam in itself, when I contacted Chime, through calls emails and through the Chime app, I had no success in halting the transaction. I hit "stop the pending transaction" but it went through anyway.
When I did finally get a real person to talk to, they told me that I authorized the transaction and there isn't anything they could do about it. I consider myself an intelligent person but still got scammed through a very smart, slick, and quick talking man. I'm disappointed in Chime for not helping me. I’ve been Chime customer for more than 2 years, and ever since I signed up with them, Chime offers 100 - 300 dollars bonus to me if I successfully refer a friend to open a direct deposit account. So when my friend mentioned she was searching for a direct deposit institution, I recommended Chime, showing her their ad where she would be entitled to receive a $100.00 bonus if she used the, “friend referral link”. The requirements were simple enough; Minimal dollar amount: check; use of referral link: Check; Successfully opened account with Chime: Check; Successfully re directed source to direct deposit into her new Chime account with in 45 days: NOT.
My referral showed me a message Chime sent her, which indicated that they could have her direct deposit account redirected right now. So we clicked on the Chime link, and proceeded to fill out the forms as directed, but the “confirm button” would not highlight despite having completed the forms. So we contacted my friend’s institution directly to see if they could redirect from their end, and despite their countless efforts many times over, after an hour’s period passed, and every effort proved futile, we opted to capitulate. This whole process was just too aggravating, and energy depleting, and not worth our time, but now we’re wasting customer service’s time as well. So ultimately, we walked away with a bitter taste in our mouths, knowing my friend would never have any use for her empty Chime account.
There was still 30 days available on her timeframe before the 45 days were up, to make an appointment to walk in, and try to do it manually, but at this point, my friend was over it, and I was feeling pretty embarrassed about the whole thing. CHIME had let me down, made me look like an idiot to my friend, appearing as if I would try anything for a few bucks….gawd. Lucky thing my friends know me better than that, and we knew in a day or two, we would be laughing at the fortnight wasted.
The following month, my friend received her funds on time as always via her same bank. Then, without any warning, the following month, her account showed no credited deposit had been made. I happened to be with her at that very moment, and just as she started to panic, I thought maybe… “Why not try checking you Chime account?” So she did, and what do ya know…there it was! “But how?”, we asked. We never were able to confirm our request, nor was there any notification sent, and all our efforts had ceased some 6 weeks earlier. This was confirmed by the next deposit, which came via her current direct deposit institution.
Immediately, we checked to see if any of the Bonus funds CHIME promised had made it, but nothing had posted. So we contacted Chime to find out when we would be receiving our money, and the clerk on the phone advised that the 45 days expired 6 days earlier, which disqualified us both from receiving any of the bonus money! Chime blamed this time delay on the depositor’s institution, and even went as far to say, “Sorry”, “but the rules you agreed to exceeded the 45 days expired timeline (by 6 days) Sorry”.
First, it wasn’t on our part the delay occurred, in fact, it was CHIME that refused to accept the efforts attempted to redirect when there were still 30/45 days available. Besides, Chime still got their new direct deposit customer account from me. What would it matter whether it happened within 45 or 51 days?Because they would have to honor their offer legally. That’s why. They obviously have their system set up to make it impossible to accept any direct deposit request from any institution on the “friends” link.
Very obvious dishonest institution. One needs not be a Democrat to see that. Total Trumpsterianism behavior. So Congratulations Chime, instead of saving a few hundred bucks with your bait & switch moves in this one way deal that seems to benefit only your “technical institute”, what you’ve managed to accomplish is to lose 5 accounts, (me, my husband, and my referral), 3 direct deposit accounts, and future thousands just in this isolated incident alone. You would be wise to study the effects of “Word of Mouth” has on American Industries. It’s a very powerful thing, and not a favorable one for institutions like yours.

I have been a member of Chime over 10 years so as long as they've open. There are pros yes of course to having Chime online banking and there are many cons. Changes of policy and software that only providing half of a deposited check and then you have to wait 7 days for the remainder of the deposited check is unacceptable. I do not recommend opening an account with Chime.
Most banks hold the deposited check to verify for one or two days to make sure it's clear; the technology today banks can see if the check is verified and the funds are verified in real time. Chime uploaded a new system that did not provide customers an update that they will have to wait for their full deposited mobile checks for 7 days or more. Which is unacceptable. Go to a bank that you can walk into. Deposit a check or cash a check out on the same day or the latest one or two days is it more acceptable.

They allowed a company to take me into the negatives $545. I followed a dispute. They said it would be until June before they could fix it a couple of days later, they ruled against my dispute and said I was at fault somehow so I am going to report them to two entities that I was advised to do so I have all the records, all the recordings. It’s not even about the money. The simple fact is I have this checking account because I have a low credit score but yet they let it go. $545 in the negatives and they cannot explain to me why and with the exception of one gentleman by the name of Mark, all of the representatives and the two upper management ladies treated me like a criminal. Despite providing clear information and having recorded phone conversations that support my side, Chime denied my claim without reviewing any of the evidence. When I asked for clarification, they refused to give details or explain how they reached their decision. I escalated the issue by filing a complaint with the CFPB, but Chime still responded with the same generic denial and no meaningful information. They did not provide investigation notes, documentation, or any indication that they actually looked into the matter. Their response was essentially just “no,” with no transparency and no accountability. This experience has left me feeling ignored and unprotected as a customer. A bank should take unauthorized charges seriously, and Chime did not.

But I was declined to be able to make my deposit because I'm suspicious of fraud. Are you kidding me? I have never stolen or taken advantage of a company or anyone. I've been with Chime for about 5 to 6 years. I have direct deposit, but I'm told that basically I'm a thief and not able to make a deposit. What's the point of using them at this point in time? I'm putting my money in their institute because again, they are not classified as a bank.

I've had a Chime card for about 5 years and never had a problem until I was hacked and all information on my phone was stolen. All three of my bank accounts had fraudulent charges. Chime was the only financial institution that would NOT give me my money back. On December 24th, I found numerous fraudulent transactions, which I immediately reported to Chime on 12/25 and froze my card to prevent any further fraudulent transactions. The next day, I filed a dispute, which was denied. I had to appeal their denial. After 2 months, I was finally able to speak with someone in the dispute dept that actually had a brain and some common sense.
You see initially, they declined one fraud transaction but allowed the other 7 fraud transactions. So it was obvious all those 8 transactions (to the same vendor, all at the same date and time) were fraudulent. Finally after submitting document after document they approved the dispute and returned the missing funds. I thought everything was settled.
Now, three months later, they (Chime) removed hundreds of dollars for some repayment of a MyPay feature I had never even heard of before. So here I am again having to file another dispute and am out $400 until they decide to approve or decline this dispute. I never had these problems with any of my other banks. I believe my days with Chime are finished and will be closing my account after they return my money. These days, hackers are getting better and better which is why our financial institutions have to get better as well, but Chime is NOT keeping up with technology in this aspect. If you get a Chime account, Good luck because you're gonna need it.

I signed up for Chime because a friend referred me. I was having issues purchasing a vehicle with my other account so I opened a chime account in order to save money in it for a downpayment. Chime also advertises a $100 referral bonus for the person that refers it to you and to you for opening the account when you sign up for direct deposit. I attempted to set up the direct deposit about 15 times and it’s impossible to do so the referral bonus is impossible for me to get. When I went to put down the down payment for my car I found out that there is a $2500 daily limit that you cannot raise so we attempted to lower my downpayment to half and I would pay it over two days, but chime refused to process any payment no matter how low we made it even though my account had over $5000 in it. Because of this, my sale fell through and the car was sold to someone else.
TLDR Chime sets low daily limits and there’s no way to raise them and even if you try to make large payments that are below your daily limit, it will still deny them and when you call customer service, you only get the option to speak to an AI operator so they will not help you and it’s very hard if not impossible to set up direct deposit through them.

Chime doesn't really have bill pay. They have a list of companies that you could pay using your Chime account. We could only pay our internet provider using their bill pay. Also, Chime had a bonus signup of $350. To meet the requirements, you needed to open a checking account and have $200 in direct deposits in a 30 day period to get the first $100. You get another $100 the second month after $200 in direct deposits. You get the final $350 in the third month after $200 in direct deposits. Since we get paid every two weeks (and this is a secondary account,) we made each direct deposit $150 for a total of $300 a month. We got the bonus the first month, but not the second or third.
We reached out to them only to be told that their system didn't recognize any direct deposits under $200. If we wanted to deposit $300 a month into our account, one deposit had to be $200 and the other $100, which is ridiculous. So although we did meet the requirements, the computer system thinks we didn't. Despite the fact that we fulfilled our end, Chime customer service claims that they are not able to make the correction.

Well right before before Christmas 2025 250 bucks was taken out of my account that I was planning on buying gift gifts for my children. I called them. They sent me a new card. Never use the card right. Well next thing you know another $200 was taken off my account, I called them and asked them. "How could this be possible?" They said that they sent me a new card but they accidentally put the same numbers as the old card on there and that’s how my money was taken off again??? Isn’t that kind of hard to believe??? Seems fishy to me!!
I’m all about leaving good reviews for people and companies for sure!! Not only was I nice to them when I called and I was nice to them when they told me it will be a month before I can get my money back, but I was nice to them whenever I asked him to reopen it when they said they could not return my money! So I waited until a few days ago, which is mid February and they still didn’t give my money back to me! Even kept switching me around the last time I called them about 14 different people and they wouldn’t switch me to another person until after I completely vented and explain my whole situation and then they’re like "OK. Let me get you with the right person." That happened over five times and eventually, they ended up hanging up on me after I was one hour into the conversation with all those different people! Since my benefit is paid monthly, the earliest that my first deposit could be made was Feb. 1, 2026. I contacted Chime Customer Services (a direct phone call and with their AI Attendant) to explain/review the circumstances of the timing of my 1st deposit. They charged me 50.00 for a debit card . Everything is ran off direct deposit which my employer doesn’t offer ( I know 2026 ). Honestly having a small fee monthly from other banks provides 100% better customer service and options.

This bank should be your last possible option. If you're able to go to a brick and mortar like PNC, Chase, Bank of America, etc, etc. You should do that. Just like the review right under me. I tried to deposit a state issued treasury check and they rejected it. I tried to call and ask why they rejected it and they will not tell me. They said for security reasons your check was rejected. I said that makes no sense and they wouldn't tell me why.
Then they said maybe you should go to another bank I'm like, So you're telling me don't deal with chime and go to another bank. That is what their customer service person told me that I should go to another bank and then after I told them that makes no sense and I feel like you just don't want to get me the answer so you're telling me oh security reason. Sorry can't tell you that's ridiculous. Then I was hung up on. I called back asked for a manager. I got a different person, probably not a manager and they told me the exact same thing. They can't tell me why it was rejected and that I should go deposit it somewhere else or go cash it somewhere.
I have never had so many issues with my bank and I've been with Chime for at least 8 years now and these types of issues happen all the time. Getting someone that you can even understand on the other line is hard enough but then when you get someone that you can kind of understand their English. They can't help you with anything. They tell you what you already know what they can read in front of them which is what's on my chime app.
This is the worst Bank ever and you should definitely go somewhere else. Don't get yourself worked up and stressed out dealing with these people. They will not be able to help you. They will never be able to solve a problem you have. They'll just tell you what the problem is and say it. Yep it's there. That's it. You may think I'm exaggerating. Go check for yourself but don't say I didn't warn you. Stay away from chime. They are ridiculous

I was at work freaking out that my money was disappearing and I was on the phone with customer services saying they couldn't do anything about it because the charges were processing. I had to wait days to call back as each transaction went through. Then was told that my Disputes were denied because of numbers they ran show that I have been to those places.
First off one of the charges I have never been to ever in my life so that is a lie. One of the places I have been to but after transactions went through and I was negative in my account the thiefs were denied multiple charges from the same place that were over 400 and 500 dollars. I can see what I have in my account so it was me making charges as they say why would I try 5 times to purchase stuff that would if equalled ro over a grand? Customer service had difficulty understanding anything explained to them.
If you want you and your money to be protected this is not the business you want. If you want good customer service, this is not the place you want. I had multiple other issues with this business such as being denied to purchase gas when I was on E and had the money in bank because it kept saying I was trying to purchase 75.00 of gas and wouldn't even let me pump gas. My problem is Mypay. My direct deposit could be over $1500. The credit limit to the mypay should be $500. There is times that the direct deposit is fifteen hundred and they would drop the credit limit to $360. Which is taking a $140 away from the limit. When I get paid, I asked them, why did the limit change. Customer representatives give me different reasons. Every time I ask this question, I asked a supervisor to explain to me. The supervisor gives me a whole another reason of why this balance changes, my point is, the representatives do not tell you the same thing. They will get frustrated with your questions because they do not know how to answer them. And they will all start to lie to me.
It seems like they will steal money, but make it look like they're not taking money from you. But in reality, they are and I feel like they take a $140 from me every single time that they do this, they told me before that there is another system that controls the mypay, my question to the supervisor was Why can't the customers talk to who controls your my pay that way the limit will stay the same as long as your direct deposit is over $900, which is what I was told in the past, but no one can ever answer that question.
They will get frustrated with me and then they'll tell me that they will end the call. That is very rude to tell a customer that they will end a call simply because they don't know how to answer the question. Even if they see in your account that you should have a limit of $500. The last supervisor did not want to admit to it that I should have the same $500 limit, So he decided that he will end the call with me. I have been a customer with Chime for 3 years now. And out of those 3 years, I don't have too many complaints. But this has been my MAIN complaint... the mypay!! That is something that they need to get under control. Chime is not easy to use and does not have good customer service. Tried to withdraw 20$ of my money from 3 of their in-network atms to no avail. Wasted 30 min of my time and gas. Then I went to my bank Wells Fargo and withdrew the 20- I knew that WF would charge 3$ to do so. But I had no idea that Chime would also charge $2.50 out of network fees on top of that- and I COULD NOT find an operable Chime atm. So I called customer service requesting, after I explained to them what happened, a reimbursement on their end (Chime’s) for the $2.50 out-of-network fee. (It’s the principle of it). They said, “that’s not possible.” Asked for the supervisor. After explaining it all again, she said an atm reimbursement on Chime’s end is “not possible.” For an online bank? In such a situation? Not good.
She then tried to explain to me about an instant transfer to my debit card that would have only charged- I think she meant 1.75% (which is doable) - but she kept saying 175% which makes no sense. The call center is clearly in India. The first rep was easier to understand. But the “supervisor” accent was so thick. So I will try to find out about that on my own, because she could not email or text that information. So all in all, Chime expects you to tap-dance for your money and then charges you a fee when you get tired of that. Customer service? No service as we know it—Just “not possible”.
An online bank’s trustworthiness, transparency, and customer service are paramount since customers don’t have the option of talking to anyone in person. Chime has failed. Forget looking for their policy on instant transfer. I’m done. Closing the account. The whole experience has been ridiculous. I signed up with Chime through Freecash with a promotion of $420 if I had a qualifying deposit (met all the requirements, within the timeframe). Of course I never saw that $420. Just lots of trouble for nothing. There are more trustworthy, customer service-oriented banks out there. Chime isn’t worth your time, money, or peace of mind.

They don't let you explain anything, I sent them a screenshot of the illegally made w/d. Again, auto-declined two days later. 4th call: They said they would re-open the case. Sent me an email link to submit more information. The link sent me to an error page. 5th call: they sent me the wrong link again.
Finally got c/s rep to help me. Had to figure out how to format a response in jpg or whatever format they only accept. Kept telling rep. I didn't have the app, I don't do banking online. Told them I use my desktop. They did not know what a desktop computer was. Sent the letter I had prepared, got it in jpg format. I then got another auto-response that showed my 'details' and the third response that was my letter, was not even there, only a copy of my statement. WTH?? Never ever will I trust them again. RUN from this bank.

I use to have great things to say about Chime, not so much anymore. My dad and I both have chime. He had some fraud on his acct and lost $710. So he did the obvious thing and filed a dispute. After two days they emailed him and told him, mostly nothing other than dispute was closed and he will NOT be getting his money back! Him and I called chime together to get more details. He is 84 years old and doesn't hear so well. Trying to make this brief, after being passed onto 6 different associates, two of them saying we could reopen dispute, clearly a lie, us having to explain the ENTIRE situation to each employee, the last associate hung up on us!
How is someone calling from chime, THAT'S WHAT MY DAD'S CALLER ID SAID, REPEATING SOME EXACT TRANSACTIONS on my dad's account, and then proceeds to instruct my dad to move his money in a protected account, WHICH WAS THE SCAMMER'S ACCOUNT, HOW IS THAT NOT FRAUD? We even have a police report. Chime should be ashamed of themselves!! They stole his money as far as we are concerned. They are pure garbage, so no, I do not recommend.
