Don't cash a check with Chime, especially if in any hurry to spend that money. I think it would have been nice to tell a person that you intended on holding a person's funds for over a week BEFORE you tell them to sign the back of the check "For mobile deposit to Chime account only". Cause if you would have, I would have cashed it somewhere... anywhere else. Like most of us have so much money that waiting more than a week to get our funds is no big deal. Absolutely ignorant that you couldn't tell someone about that & give them the chance to change their mind BEFORE making sure they couldn't cash the check somewhere else. Inconsiderate pigs.

I wouldn't even give them one star. The worst business I have ever dealt with. Do not trust them with your money. My card eas stolen and used and I called immediately as I was on the phone charges were going through. I was at work freaking out that my money was disappearing and I was on the phone with customer services saying they couldn't do anything about it because the charges were processing. I had to wait days to call back as each transaction went through. Then was told that my Disputes were denied because of numbers they ran show that I have been to those places.

First off one of the charges I have never been to ever in my life so that is a lie. One of the places I have been to but after transactions went through and I was negative in my account the thiefs were denied multiple charges from the same place that were over 400 and 500 dollars. I can see what I have in my account so it was me making charges as they say why would I try 5 times to purchase stuff that would if equalled ro over a grand? Customer service had difficulty understanding anything explained to them.

If you want you and your money to be protected this is not the business you want. If you want good customer service, this is not the place you want. I had multiple other issues with this business such as being denied to purchase gas when I was on E and had the money in bank because it kept saying I was trying to purchase 75.00 of gas and wouldn't even let me pump gas. So if you don't want to be stranded or stuck then don't pick this business. DO NOT TRUST YOUR MONEY WITH THIS BUSINESS

A friend sent me $20 to my Chime account so I can buy some food. I am homeless and I have not eaten in 2 days, going on three. After my friend sent me the money for food, Chime took my $20. I called to try to get my money back so I can buy some food and despite what I told them, they still said no and kept my money. So now I am still homeless and hungry with no food and my money took by Chime. As of right now, I will no longer be a customer to Chime for their lack of compassion and treatment towards me behind this situation. All I am trying to do is buy some food so I can eat.

I am beyond frustrated with Chime and feel compelled to speak up about the way I’ve been treated. Their supervisors repeatedly hung up on me, gave me false information, and kept sending me in circles instead of actually helping. I trusted Chime with my money, and now they’ve taken it while providing zero support. This experience has shown me that Chime is not a company that can be trusted, and their customer service is completely unacceptable. I expect immediate resolution and a clear explanation, because this treatment is not just frustrating—it’s unprofessional and wrong.

I received a bonus for opening a Chime checking account. It required direct deposit and debit card activation to qualify for this bonus. I met both the requirements, but they sent the debit card to the wrong address the first time and didn't have the expedited option. It took two weeks after requesting the replacement to arrive. Now they say I am not qualified for the offer because the card should have been activated within 14 days of receiving the first direct deposit! I said it is not my fault that Chime sent it to the wrong address the first time, and the supervisor said nothing can be done, and manual adjustment cannot be made either.

I got denied twice on a unauthorized ATM transaction dispute even with police, the first dispute and second dispute both ended in three to five days with Chime saying that there isn't any errors that took place and that there isn't anything they can. All this took place on November 28th at 4:37pm when I was at work and the transaction took place 17 miles away from my job and you would think a police report would change the outcome and it didn't any other financial institution that I have dealt with would have given me a credit while the investigation takes place which is usually 14 days to five months. I have already filed a complaint with the Consumer Finance Protection and the FTC along with making complaints to Denver 7 investigates and troubleshooter Tom Martino.

Chime claimed there was suspicious activity on my card and limited its account use. I called customer service and informed them the activity was legitimate. They said that since it was an automated limitation through their system that it could take up to 48 hours to reinstate full use. I waited the 48 hours and received a message saying the limitation was removed only for another message immediately indicating that my account was once again being limited due to suspicious activity. No new activity had taken place since the original limitation, so I called customer service only to be told again it could be up to 48 hours for the limitation to be released.

I asked repeatedly to speak with a supervisor (no less that 15 times) and was told a supervisor could not help me. Eventually the associate disconnected the call. This was after a 15 minute wait to speak to someone. I decided to call back to complain and had a 30 minute wait. I reported the poor customer service and the fact that I was not able to use my account the week before Christmas. Horrible customer service and will be closing my account with them immediately.

My problem is Mypay. My direct deposit could be over $1500. The credit limit to the mypay should be $500. There is times that the direct deposit is fifteen hundred and they would drop the credit limit to $360. Which is taking a $140 away from the limit. When I get paid, I asked them, why did the limit change. Customer representatives give me different reasons. Every time I ask this question, I asked a supervisor to explain to me. The supervisor gives me a whole another reason of why this balance changes, my point is, the representatives do not tell you the same thing. They will get frustrated with your questions because they do not know how to answer them. And they will all start to lie to me.

It seems like they will steal money, but make it look like they're not taking money from you. But in reality, they are and I feel like they take a $140 from me every single time that they do this, they told me before that there is another system that controls the mypay, my question to the supervisor was Why can't the customers talk to who controls your my pay that way the limit will stay the same as long as your direct deposit is over $900, which is what I was told in the past, but no one can ever answer that question.

They will get frustrated with me and then they'll tell me that they will end the call. That is very rude to tell a customer that they will end a call simply because they don't know how to answer the question. Even if they see in your account that you should have a limit of $500. The last supervisor did not want to admit to it that I should have the same $500 limit, So he decided that he will end the call with me. I have been a customer with Chime for 3 years now. And out of those 3 years, I don't have too many complaints. But this has been my MAIN complaint... the mypay!! That is something that they need to get under control. Because that is literally like stealing someone's money and making it look like it's illegal.

My digital card was breached from my own phone. I had no access for two days — two full days where I couldn’t even get into my account. And after all that, after their failure to protect me, they had the nerve to conduct a sham “investigation” and then close my account because I supposedly violated their terms. The audacity is unbelievable.

They never heard my side, never asked for an explanation, never acknowledged that the breach happened while I was locked out. Instead, they ran with their confused, incompetent assessment and decided I was the problem. Their investigation wasn’t just sloppy — it was an absolute farce. Instead of protecting a customer who was clearly compromised, they chose the laziest, most negligent path possible. Their handling of this situation has been nothing but unprofessional, dismissive, and frankly, shameful. If this is their idea of customer protection, everyone deserves to know. I will be sharing this experience everywhere so others can avoid the same careless treatment. Avoid them unless you enjoy being failed by their security and then blamed for their incompetence.

Chime is not easy to use and does not have good customer service. Tried to withdraw 20$ of my money from 3 of their in-network atms to no avail. Wasted 30 min of my time and gas. Then I went to my bank Wells Fargo and withdrew the 20- I knew that WF would charge 3$ to do so. But I had no idea that Chime would also charge $2.50 out of network fees on top of that- and I COULD NOT find an operable Chime atm. So I called customer service requesting, after I explained to them what happened, a reimbursement on their end (Chime’s) for the $2.50 out-of-network fee. (It’s the principle of it). They said, “that’s not possible.” Asked for the supervisor. After explaining it all again, she said an atm reimbursement on Chime’s end is “not possible.” For an online bank? In such a situation? Not good.

She then tried to explain to me about an instant transfer to my debit card that would have only charged- I think she meant 1.75% (which is doable) - but she kept saying 175% which makes no sense. The call center is clearly in India. The first rep was easier to understand. But the “supervisor” accent was so thick. So I will try to find out about that on my own, because she could not email or text that information. So all in all, Chime expects you to tap-dance for your money and then charges you a fee when you get tired of that. Customer service? No service as we know it—Just “not possible”.

An online bank’s trustworthiness, transparency, and customer service are paramount since customers don’t have the option of talking to anyone in person. Chime has failed. Forget looking for their policy on instant transfer. I’m done. Closing the account. The whole experience has been ridiculous. I signed up with Chime through Freecash with a promotion of $420 if I had a qualifying deposit (met all the requirements, within the timeframe). Of course I never saw that $420. Just lots of trouble for nothing. There are more trustworthy, customer service-oriented banks out there. Chime isn’t worth your time, money, or peace of mind.

Chime then let me do a dispute for authorize charges. Then transferred me to get account put back in my name. Today is Nov 21. For the last 16 days I've tried to gain access. The response is, "No one at chime is over us. We make decision to gain access." Every supervisor tells me they are in charge. Ask to speak to their boss. They reply by saying, "Sir no one gonna help you." Very frustrated with Chime. I'm a veteran whose direct deposit goes into Chime every month. Nov 21 Chime still tells me I'm not the account holder. That my ID isn't real. I even sent a selfie. Chime will let anyone have access to your account but the account holder if your info is change. Chime reps told me don't care if I'm a veteran. Gonna be homeless. Have no money to eat. The supervisor told me not helping anymore unless I get another state ID which will take over 30 days to get.

Chime supervisors have hung on me. Disrespectful to a veteran. Not their problem if I can't access my money. No one at chime can help me. This is after I wrote a complaint on Trustpilot and BBB about how been treated. Chime emailed me. Told me to call and they would get me access to my money. The support team for Chime stills says no. Chime won't even give me account number to get my direct deposit change. Just tell me the money safe for the real account holder. Poor customer service. Allen

How is someone calling from chime, THAT'S WHAT MY DAD'S CALLER ID SAID, REPEATING SOME EXACT TRANSACTIONS on my dad's account, and then proceeds to instruct my dad to move his money in a protected account, WHICH WAS THE SCAMMER'S ACCOUNT, HOW IS THAT NOT FRAUD? I've been completely flipped upside down and had someone steal my identity. My phone even with two step verification they didn't need to show identification to steal my money change my passwords and ruin my life through my Chime banking account. I was incarcerated August 25th. Since then my phone my home my life has been destroyed. When I got out of jail I had a letter which is proof of incarcerations. I want to open my chime account and found that my password has been changed. Then got in touch with customer service and they told me that I needed to upload some ID to prove I was the proprietor of the account. I showed that the last transaction where my funds were coming from my pin email address everything being incarcerated and having my personal property stolen which is my phone which had access to my mobile banking. I did not have identification cause it was stolen.

I furthermore the dispute on the fraudulent transactions. I went and got a police report and because I didn't have any money because I didn't have access to it I went and got a free voters ID. Has a picture of me my new address absolutely everything you need. They would not accept it. They would not take the letter of incarceration which I was told by the police that took the report said that's all I needed and they refused to take a government-issued police statement stating that I was incarcerated. I have a direct deposit from social security. I also informed them of what was going on and they wouldn't take an updated address social security validation letter. They denied it but the person that stole My money showed nothing and has full access. These people showed no identification and has changed everything in my account.

They have and will not offer any kind of restitution solution or result. I don't have family. I have no one I can borrow the money to go get another ID and to top it off they won't even accept the 30 day temporary ID because it's paper not a hard copy. Insist that I wait for 30 days until I get a hard copy which gives 30 days for these people to continuously spend my money where in the thousands of dollars now and I don't have a guarantee that they're going to give it back. I don't know why they wouldn't because I was incarcerated but from what I have seen at a time they don't have your back. They don't care about anybody except for a thief and this customer demands restitution full compensation.

I just want out of chime they have shown me they don't have any security because the only ones that have to show any kind of security is the people who own it. They'll just let a thief go in and take what they want. They'll just let the thief hack your account and take what they want. Thanks so very much. I'm homeless cause I can't pay my bills. I can't eat and all I really want to do is just get my money and get an ID so that I can move on and I will never do online banking again.

I'm actually disappointed with Chime because they allowed another bank to come in and take from my account. I was opted to pay my rent by my landlord through an account with Chase Bank. I went into one their branches and swiped my card only to find my account in the negative for $1446 in which my transaction was only for $760 plus a $10 card fee since I didn't have an account with their bank. I called Chime and explained everything just for the representatives to take forever to put my dispute through and incomplete as to where I had to file two different disputes. I was in the negative and broke and couldn't get to work. My daughter whom us also with Chime unknowingly sent me $200 to help me and it was also taken due to my account being negative. They sent me an email that I would be credited until the issue is resolved but if it's not I will have to pay it back.

I knew I did nothing wrong so I assumed no worries but today I get an email saying both disputes were denied. I called and was told by a supervisor that seemed unsympathetic that they will notify the disputes department and it will take 10 days and that in 5 days they will take back the credited money because of the denial. I gave Chime everything and explained everything and just can't understand how they allowed this money to be taken from my account when if I try to order anything online they catch it and they won't confirm it until you're notified and confirm the purchase. I'm very upset. HOW?

Now from my part time job. They will let me reborrow my check right back. From my main check. They only give a $80 limit and it has to to build up $40 a day which puts you behind. It wasn't like this always. They changed it. When I spoke to a live agent about the situation. She did nothing and told me thanks for my business.

Updated on 12/28/2025: I've been having problems with Chime. Since 2021 I've been trying to find out where my funds went and they keep telling me my funds went into South Dakota safekeepings. I checked it out and there is no funds of mine in South Dakota of safekeeping. I call customer service several times. They gave me the same answer then they finally tell me my funds are not available to take out. I asked a question why they don't give me no answer. The same question the same answer. I asked a question about the C11 agreement. They don't know nothing about it. I asked him why did somebody dive into my account and take my money out and put it into another place. They have no answer. Poor service. Poor knowledge about my status. They know nothing. They do nothing. They don't help me out with this situation. They say they're going to help me and they don't.

Original Review: I had a dispute with Chime. They never settled it. They kept on saying my funds are transferred in unclaimed properties which that is not true. They told me to check South Dakota on unclaimed properties. They need documents also a letter from chime. I never got that. They keep on telling me countless times. My money is in South Dakota in safekeeping. This has been going on for 2 years and I never had a settlement yet. That keeps saying they're going to help me out but never do they keep closing my tickets. I don't know what the problem really is because they don't know. I also have a copy of a non-cashed check and they still won't rectify the problem.

On October 25, 2025, multiple unauthorized transfers totaling $398.52 were made from my Chime Spending Account. October 25, 2025, I received an email alert that someone logged into my account from Brunswick, Maine, a location where I have never been. Shortly after that alert I received email notifications of multiple transactions I did not authorize. l immediately called Chime to dispute the transactions. While waiting for an agent l ultimately accessed my account using Face ID and confirmed the unauthorized transfers. I then verbally provided Chime with proof of the out-of-state login and unauthorized transfers over the phone to submit dispute. Immediately after filing the dispute, by phone, I was walked through changing my password.

I also requested new account information because the hacker accessed my account, meaning they were able to see my account and routing information, this request was denied. This makes me feel unsafe as a consumer. On October 26th, I was notified via email that the investigation was closed with the response of “no error occurred” and I was then given no evidence showing I authorized these transfers. I did not authorize, initiate, or benefit from these transfers, and I never shared my login credentials or card information.

After the first dispute denial, I contacted Chime immediately (by phone with the assistance of my Father) and I was falsely accused by a “manager” with a poor attitude that I made these transfers “from my phone”, although, the manager later stated that he had no access to the investigation information and he did not come up with the final decision, he then stated he would get me over to someone who can help me after being so rude. I was then transferred to another representative that could not assist me, denied manager request and then transferred to another representative that finally reopened the dispute for reinvestigation. Additionally, I asked for detailed information that lead to the conclusion of denial for initial dispute, via phone and email.

Finally, I was notified on October 28, 2025 via email my second dispute was denied with the response of “no error occurred” also with no evidence showing I authorized these transfers. I’ve also expressed to multiple reps that not only was the money I already earned and worked for stolen but this now cutting into this week’s check because the scammer took out a My Pay advance, I’m 23 years old and I live alone, I work a 9-5 and I cannot afford these type of occurrences. Some reps were sympathetic, some were not but the last “manager” I spoke with was outright rude! This does not make me feel valued as a customer. After researching and finding out that Chime’s main profit is from me swiping my card and holding money in my account it should be in the company’s best interest to have representatives that better handle customers and their requests.

Then they play with you with the spot me. For instance last night I had 40 in spot me. I wake up to nothing in spot me as they say I didn't have a direct deposit of 200 or more. And you I just got a deposit of 500 yesterday. I earned those spot me's from what my friends sent me for the month as I sent my friends their spot me's boost. And my funds were released to Chime Thursday of last week and had to wait until Tuesday late afternoon just to get my deposit. I do NOT recommend Chime to anyone. Especially someone trying to build their credit.

Credit builder is a crock of crap. It messes with your credit score. It doesn't help build your credit score it helps demolish it! Worst app ever, they shouldn't even offer credit builder as it doesn't build your credit at all. You can go to any branch bank and get the same thing but it doesn't affect you in a bad way. Branch banks actually help build your credit not read it down like Chime does. I will no longer be using chime at all. The benefits they advertise is false advertising. They give you benefits and take them away at their convenience! Can't add card to wallet for use. My branch bank doesn't even recognize chime and won't allow me to link chime and my bank together. Which my bank is global and has branches all over the world. So I should of known better if my bank didn't allow me to link. So good luck chime with your future as I'm not gonna be part of your false advertising practices lol

So your GPT system lied to me and tricked me into paying off my loan to get my pay to work again because I was a few days late on a $35 payment. The loan was only for $100. The other payments not due till end of October and end of November. So my direct deposit came in but my pay was at zero so after contacting customer support GPT told me I had to make the payment for it to be reactivated. So I paid the late payment and nothing happened with my pay, then GPT proceed to tell me I had to pay the whole entire loan off which the second payment was not even due for another 10 days and also pay November's which was a month and two weeks away. So after speaking to GPT and explaining I can't make those payments and afford it unless my pay turned back on it assured me that my pay would turn back after paying off loan.

So after tricking me twice and me paying my first payment with the late payment by few days and then paying the two other payments off that was not due my pay still didn't come back on. Then I asked GPT why this happened, IT proceeded to tell me I had to wait for my next direct deposit which is in two weeks even though I explained to it I didn't want to make the full payments that was not even due because I could not afford it. IT GPT still tricked me and me just thinking my pay would come right back on after paid off. I paid in full, then GPT IT told me I had to wait after assuring me my pay would come back on!

So Chimes your GPT system IT is lying, tricking and putting chime customers which is me for years now into bad situations, so now my loan is paid off over a month early and my pay is still not on, this is the biggest manipulation tactic any Bank I've ever had put me in, then IT proceeded to tell me at least I still had spot me available and would have to wait till my next direct deposit even though I made myself clear and it still LIED TRICKED me, you can read our conversation, it was manipulation at its best and worse, so please fix this before many other customers have to fall on the manipulations of Chime's AI system!! I didn't set up direct deposit as I prefer to test drive their services before switching over as my complete everything bank. Did an external transfer of funds into my Chime account, delayed as of the today I still have not received the funds, customer service promised it by yesterday at 8pm. That never happened, so I waited to 8pm West coast time and transfer didn't happen, waited till midnight and still no transfer.

Just before writing this review called customer service and was told tomorrow at 9am... We will see?! Not the worst banking experience but I hate being lied to, I hate customer service associates that aren't invested in their jobs enough to fix the problem with the first call. This issue has taken me thus far two days and three calls. I was actually excited to be with Chime but any and all luster with those bells and whistles has faded and any excitement I might have had about Chime has turned to buyer beware. I think people want a provider that does what they say, reliable, honest, and genuinely wants your service and I'm not finding that with Chime.

They still would not refund my money. What's Even more frustrating is other disputes smaller amounts for exact same reason we're approved. How could they approve some but deny others.

The smaller amounts didn't even require proof yet when I gave a huge amount of evidence they violated the EFTA I've never been given a report which is supposed to prove without doubt that I did transactions considering I was in hospital during the 480 money spent. It was impossible I did transactions yet claim denied. I'm going to have to get a lawyer and sue them and that's ridiculous. The most disgusting bank I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I filed a dispute for $360 for services not rendered. I was supposed to receive a visa for a trip to Dubai and never received one. My claim was denied and I couldn't understand why because I did not get the services from the merchant. You would think this is a no-brainer in terms of me winning this dispute. I sent them all the evidence, receipts, and evidence of me communicating with the merchant, who then seized communication when I confronted them.

Chime had the nerve to tell me that they got evidence from the merchant (who was a scammer) to disprove my claim. What evidence could you get from a merchant that would be stronger than me telling you that I did not receive my visa from that merchant? They basically chose to believe the merchant over their customer & not once within the 30 days of the investigation did they reach out to me to say "hey this is what we have" or "hey have you received the visa yet" because I would've told them no. They just went with what the merchant told them, they believed the scammer. How ridiculous! I wish I were making this up, but It's been three months now and I still have no visa.

As a result of this scam, I had to pay thousands of dollars to rearrange flights because I ended up with no visa to that particular destination. I was traveling with kids and It was just the worst experience and to then have my bank turn around and tell me they can't even get $360 back from a scammer… I had to close my account! It's just the principle. You let someone get away with my hard earned money and this was a very straightforward situation of someone took my money and promised something I did not get! Do not bank with these people, they are incompetent. When I called to inquire about my dispute, the representative and her supervisor sounded just as confused as to why the dispute team denied my claim.

Someone unauthorized used my debit card, and despite providing all the necessary evidence, including detailed explanations, Chime denied my dispute. This was incredibly frustrating, as I trusted them to protect my finances. I also thought I froze my account 3 days before more money was taken out. The app told me my account was frozen and a new card was on the way but that wasn't true.

What’s worse is the lack of clear communication and support throughout the process. I expected a more thorough investigation, especially since this was a serious issue involving fraud. Unfortunately, I felt like my concerns were dismissed, leaving me to deal with the financial loss on my own. While Chime has some great features like no hidden fees and early direct deposit, their dispute resolution process has been a letdown. I hope they improve their customer service and take fraud claims more seriously in the future. For now, I’m reconsidering whether this is the right financial institution for me. Randy

Send me a new card on my phone and I called them seriously two seconds later for them to let them know that that wasn’t true and that I had my card on me and they basically told me that I was screwed and then I have to wait about a week for it to get here, no help at all. So now I’m behind on my car payment, all because they can’t get their stuff together and reverse a simple thing. Not to mention, everybody I talk to didn’t speak English as a main language. If I’m calling from America, I want to talk to somebody that speaks fluent English as their first language. They couldn’t even help me with the most simple thing; they couldn’t even expedite me a card overnight, completely useless.

I have been a Chime customer for a few years and until a few days ago have always been so pleased. But I just filed a claim and that's where they FAIL big time. It is 4 days later and they keep telling me they are straightening out the claim but each day it keeps getting worse. They were 2 claims and one was resolved in 2 days but the second one has been going on for 4 phone calls. Each rep telling me they are taking care of the claim and then there is no claim there. I call back and they say the same thing. 4 days later still no claim and they tell me they are the only ones that can help me and that there is no one else there, no supervisors no managers. But why do I have to keep calling and getting nowhere. So obviously Chime is only good if there are no problems.

If you have a transaction that you don't receive or a fraudulent charge they are not going to be there for you. Or at least put you through the mill before anyone will do anything. This is the 4th call and they just told me it is taken care of AGAIN, so we shall see. Each person has said that and today am told there were no claims there.

Chime is a fraudulent and irresponsible company. On Saturday morning, I woke up to a text showing two unauthorized transactions from my account: one for $208.00 and another for $207.50 sent to someone by the name of Jamie H. Around the same time, the phone number and email address connected to my account were changed without my consent. That same day, I provided Chime with a police report number to prove the seriousness of this theft. I immediately contacted Chime. They helped me reset my information and opened a claim. However, at 2:21 a.m. on September 1, I received an email stating that my claim was denied, with the conclusion that no error occurred.

Not only was my claim denied, but I was also told that I would need to go and obtain a copy of the police report myself and send it in, because Chime does not have the ability to request a report directly. What legitimate financial institution cannot request a police report when provided with the official report number? This shows that Chime is unwilling to do the proper work to investigate fraud.

It makes no sense that a customer would go to the trouble of filing a police report over their own actions. Chime’s refusal to properly investigate, even after receiving evidence, shows negligence and a lack of accountability. Chime has proven to be a fraudulent and irresponsible company. They allow crimes like this to take place without proper investigation, and they failed to protect my account in the way a true banking institution should. Their lack of security and safeguards has left me vulnerable and without the basic protection that any customer deserves.

A Chime rep told me I would be able to send her $ to her Chime account right away if I put cash in. I spend a few hours doing this because the places Chime listed were not able to. I spend $8 to put cash on Chime only to find out I can't send her $ because my "virtual" card won't work until I get the physical card in the mail.

Then it got worse. When I finally could move $ back to my checking account, I found out there's a $500/month max limit to movey $ out. Annndddd it got worse. Even though a rep walked me through it, at no point was I warned there would be a $8.75 fee to move that $500 (max allowed) back to my bank account.
NONE of Chime's employees or supervisors can waive fees. They will blame you for everything for not knowing the fine print (even though many of them don't know it either. ) Every day, for the past 3 days, it's been a nightmare. I wish I never attempted to use Chime & I wired my friend $ instead from the get-go.

Then I contacted chime in regards to this matter. Like any other bank I filed a dispute. Within a day, they declined my dispute. I called and addressed the issue thinking I did something wrong. I called and spoke with the supervisor and talked to them about them declining my dispute and she filed it again. I did mention if it gets declined again I will be closing my account. She of course understood my concerns and within a day, they declined my dispute again. I even told her that they used a virtual card for this transaction and I have never used a virtual card.

I went through the process of changing my payroll. Went to close my account (which they give a grace period for). Today I had another transaction of $70 that was declined because I removed all my money from the account. I mentioned they were using a virtual card again. And they continue to not only not refund my money, but did not listen to my concerns and hung up on me. This is a serious issue and I believe there is a data breach. They said their investigation showed there was no issue but it wasn't me, and I'm concerned that the fraudulent activity is happening inside the company.

Chime is a contender for the Academy Award of the worst companies to deal with. For all I know there are services or great. What isn't great is when you don't want any of their services and you can't stop them. Their emails don't have an unsubscribe. When you log in to your account, there's no way for you to maintain your email preferences. When I call them I had to spend 15 minutes dealing with the most obnoxious. AI robot I've ever seen. It pretended to be really smart, but it wasn't smart enough to follow my simple instruction to shut up. And I only wanted to talk to a human person. When it's older to be quiet it kept telling coming in every thirty seconds to ask me if I was still there and repeat more than thirty seconds of how they understand my wish to talk to a human.

When I finally got a human, it was almost as bad as a robot. That's the problem with these customer aid aid sites. The person I spoke to kept asking stupid questions like what did the email say. What difference does that make? All they need is to look app my account and take my instruction to stop sending me emails. So when she kept insisting that she wanted to know what the email said, I began reading what it said.

I repeated all the dribble and it took me 5 minutes to get halfway through it before I stopped and asked. Do you like this? I said it doesn't matter what the email says. I'm trying to get you to stop sending me old emails. I've never wasted so much time with an idiot. If I knew her name I'd put it here. All I can do is warn. Everybody not to get a chime account. Don't give them your email. Don't give them your phone number. You will regret it. The date I gave of my experience was just a Start date. If I could leave negative stars I would. Chime has been a nightmare. They do not follow OCC or FDIC regulations. They have been sued multiple times and audited and ordered to pay because they have scam practices. For example, government checks are held despite traditional banks following rules. At one point my check cleared the payer in 1 business day and chime held the check for 6 additional days claiming non clearance. Then I filed a complaint with the OCC and BBB so they literally just ignored my requests and started hanging up on me.

I’ve been with Chime for nearly 6 years and the few times that I’ve ever had to file a dispute. It’s constantly denied. And I feel like they are incentivized to deny the dispute. This last go round I was made to believe the customer care representative understood exactly what I was going through and agreed with me and the dispute was settled in less than a day and denied. My card was used to verify a real human on an Apple account for a free app download. All of a sudden I had $134 in charges and under 10 minutes from Apple. I immediately remove the card and try to dispute the transactions which I later found out two weeks later did not go through. So I called the number to file the dispute with a person on the other end. Who agreed with me that I should not have been charged. He said my dispute could take up to 90 days.

Then he asked me a series of questions which I feel were set up to deny the dispute and that belief was solidified because in less than 24 hours, I got a notification saying that my claim was denied. This is the third time in six years that I’ve gone through something like this. On top of that, I asked them not to lock my card because I had already handled it and they insisted and said it was to protect me, and it was the only way for the dispute to go through. So my claim got denied, and my card got locked With a promise of sending a new one which won’t be here for two weeks. I have bills tied to that card, which I’m now going to have to go through and reset every single one of them. I will be looking for a new provider.

I have been with Chime for almost three months. I have a significant amount in direct deposits. The first month, I got my deposit early on the 23th of that month versus 28 or 29th with my other bank - which was cool. The next month it was the 25th - still fine maybe it deposited later. This month I receive a email giving ambiguous information about week before my deposit - it is the 26th and no deposit. I inquired on the 25th and they say they don’t have my deposit. It’s VA issued and I know they are lying - checked with VA to be sure.

At this point, I have no idea when my funds will be deposited but this is my last month with Chime. I know banks hold funds for profit/interest hence free checking with direct deposits. But to blatantly lie and hold my funds for profit is or should be illegal. I will be contacting the CFPB and filing a complaint. They are bordering on a scam. I took a chance never again - I’ll stay with the established banks and know the policies. Please beware and if you use them don’t put anything significant with this company. Use it for what the advertised with a small amount of funds.

Chime is my secondary bank. The payday two day early feature is a nice ploy to attract people to use chime. However, my direct deposit has been inconsistent, despite my payroll processor being on time every time. Honestly, I’m happy Chime isn’t my primary bank, “financial institution” as they call themselves. I rather know when my money is coming in, even if that means waiting till Friday morning consistently like with my primary bank verses trying to guess when it comes with Chime. Sometimes it’s a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Chime isn’t for everyone, I personally thank it’s trash! Respectfully. After receiving my next direct deposit I will be closing down my account indefinitely. Save yourself the stress and guess work! Get an actual bank account, and a debit card that isn’t viewed as a prepaid debit card, which Chime is viewed as. Put your money in a reputable bank or credit union not a “financial institution”.
