I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Chime and I feel obligated to warn others before trusting this company with their hard-earned money. I experienced over $1,000 in unauthorized charges and ATM withdrawals on my account, and instead of receiving support, understanding, and protection from the company that advertises itself as being customer-friendly and modern, I was treated with disrespect, frustration, and complete disregard for my financial hardship. The unauthorized activity on my account caused me severe stress and anxiety. These transactions were not made by me, and I immediately did what any responsible customer would do: I reported the fraudulent activity, filed a dispute, and submitted documentation to support my claim.
I provided evidence and cooperated fully throughout the process because I honestly believed Chime would investigate fairly and protect me as their customer. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at all. After filing the dispute, I spent countless hours trying to communicate with customer service representatives who were difficult to understand and often seemed poorly trained. Many of the representatives barely spoke clear English, making communication extremely frustrating during an already stressful situation. I had to repeat myself over and over again just to explain basic details about my case. Instead of showing empathy or professionalism, several representatives came across as rude, dismissive, and uninterested in actually helping resolve the issue.
What made the situation even worse was the lack of consistency. Every time I contacted customer service, I was given different information. One representative would say the investigation was ongoing, another would claim they never received certain documents even though I had already submitted them, and another would provide vague scripted responses that solved absolutely nothing. It felt like nobody actually cared about investigating the fraud or protecting my account. Despite providing documentation and evidence regarding the unauthorized charges and ATM withdrawals, Chime ultimately denied my dispute claim. I was shocked and disgusted by the decision. It honestly felt like they automatically sided against me instead of conducting a real investigation.
Losing over $1,000 due to fraudulent activity is devastating enough, but being denied reimbursement after following every procedure made the situation even more frustrating and unfair. What concerns me the most is how unsafe and unprotected I felt as a customer. A financial company should make customers feel secure, especially during fraud situations. Instead, I felt ignored, blamed, and abandoned. If unauthorized ATM withdrawals and charges can happen so easily and then be denied after a dispute is filed, it raises serious concerns about Chime’s fraud protection process and customer support standards. I also did not appreciate how long everything took. The dispute process dragged on while I remained without access to money that I needed for bills, food, transportation, and everyday living expenses. During that time, customer service provided little to no reassurance.
The emotional stress alone was exhausting. It is unacceptable for a company handling people’s finances to operate this way. Another major issue is accountability. I expected transparency and detailed explanations regarding why my claim was denied, but instead I received generic responses that did not properly address the evidence I submitted. It felt robotic and dismissive, as if my case was never thoroughly reviewed by an actual person. Customers deserve better than copy-and-paste responses when dealing with financial fraud and missing money. I would strongly caution anyone considering banking with Chime to think carefully before trusting them with large amounts of money or relying on them as their primary financial institution.
When everything is going well, these online banking apps may seem convenient, but the real test of a financial company is how they treat customers during emergencies and fraud situations. In my case, Chime failed completely. The lack of professional customer service, the communication barriers, the denial of my documented fraud dispute, and the overall disrespect I experienced have permanently damaged my trust in this company. I will never recommend Chime to friends, family, coworkers, or anyone else after what I went through. People deserve a bank or financial institution that takes fraud seriously, communicates clearly, investigates fairly, and actually protects its customers when unauthorized activity occurs.
My experience with Chime has been one of the most stressful and disappointing financial experiences I have ever dealt with. Customers should not have to fight this hard just to be heard after reporting fraud. I hope this review encourages Chime to improve its customer service, fraud investigation procedures, and overall treatment of customers because what I experienced was unacceptable.

Terrible!! I have deposited thousands of dollars into my Chime account. The one time I needed them to review my dispute of $40 being withdrawn from an ATM that was NOT my doing, they denied it!? Instead they INCREASED my daily withdrawal limit as if that is common a sense thing to do. The location and time of the withdrawal was given so if any “investigation” was done, they would have pulled up the ATM video and compared to my picture ID and seen it wasnt me. Again, $40 so it's not the point! It just having deposited thousands, why would I b.s. over $40?! Their resolution is claim denied but will will increase your withdrawal amount so you can get scammed for a bigger amount next time. Absolute buffoonery!!!

BEWARE!!!! Your money is NOT SAFE here. I had over $3,000 stolen from my account, notified them within hours and they didn't stop our reverse the transactions. I have asked multiple times for them to recover the funds, but they give some vague denial. Closing my account as soon as my paycheck gets deposited so I can set up my new bank account.

I had a Chime account for 6 years. I used to love them, but recently I hurt my back and I was sitting at home and I heard my account go off and even though I was sitting at home with my ATM card in my purse, next to me they were allowing people to withdraw money from my account out-of-state. I called and reported it within 2 minutes. The worker told me that she can see that the people are still trying to withdraw more money out of an ATM over 3000 miles away from my home. I had Locked my card as I called chime but they still allowed 1 more charge to go thru. I talked to their representative. I reported as fraud.. The representative calmly told me, "Oh, it's normal for people to clone cards. Don't worry, we'll have your money back in 10 days," which was too long.
First of all, but I accepted that I made a police report. I did ic3 report through the FBI reported fraud. I sent time a copy of the police report the FBI report. I had door dashed to my house. It showed up about 5 minutes before this happened, doordash had nothing to do with it, but I sent them the receipt to prove that I was door dashing to my home. Also, the only charges I made on my account before was about 3 hours before I had put gas in my car at a local gas station, but Chime has now denied my claim 4 times. They basically allowed someone to fraud my account. And even though I notified them within two minutes that someone three thousand miles away was withdrawing cash from an a t m, and they still refused to refund my money.
I have so far withdrew everything from my account, got a new bank account which I'm happy with, and I'm still fighting for my money back. It's been 40 days now and 4 denials, chime refuses to reopen the case due to I don't have any new evidence. When I asked to speak to someone who actually works in the fraud department, they refused to let me talk to anyone who works with the fraud department and all they say is they can't reopen the fraud case.
This is b. S, I've never once reported any charges as weird or funny as I always have my ATM card on me. I've never given anyone my pin. And I'm a responsible respectable person. Please avoid using chime at all costs. Unless you can afford for someone to steal all your money and them to deny you. Also, when I call, you can literally hear other people laughing in the background. When I\n Ask for an explanation of why they're denying my claim. They don't have one. They told me I can wait 10 days and I'll get something in the mail. It's been over a month. I still have not received anything in the mail to give me any reason why they're denying me. Please avoid it all cost.

I unfortunately fell for a scam and sent money on this app. Once I realized the extent of the situation, I reached out to Chime who said they wouldn’t really be able to help due to the instantaneous nature of the transaction. Financial institutions should have better consumer protection measures for their clients. I definitely won’t be using Chime in the future, knowing that it is full of fraudulent activity that is condoned and assisted.

Yes I've gone through better business for this. My purse was stolen from my car along with my tablet and phone. Well the phone that was stolen is the number that was linked to my account so it was not hard for them to get into it. Well 5000 dollars was stolen from my account 500 from CashApp. Also cash app returned my money. I gave Chime everything. They asked me for the person. Left behind a lot of evidence he used. Then I forgot my password button on chime app and it show that he had the password link forwarded to their email. They also transferred money to their account twice. Chime told me they secured my account then how is he still getting into it. All I want is my money returned. Now I had to file complaint to few places. Going be A long drawn out process.

Good luck with customer service. Thank you is all they know how to type. My normal bank has it available right away. Chime is 5 or more days and a 8pm or later availability. Next time I’ll wait until I’m back in town and just use my real bank with real English speaking people. Why do I chime? So I can’t have access to my funds during normal business hours.

I've been with Chime for 2 years now. As a disabled guy I find their tactics unprofessional and overall a total 💩 show! They don't speak English well at all and their dispute platform is horrendous! They don't answer your questions they don't take any responsibility for their actions either. I am now in the process of leaving chime for current which allows a way way better pay day advance than chime does! Their my pay is a joke completely! They change your my pay monthly it goes down more than up. For instance 2 solid consecutive years of direct deposit and I barely get 200 in my pay!
And then on top of it they restrict how much you can even take out for my pay! That's right you "do not" get my pay in total up front! It slowly builds to like 17 dollars increments daily! Guys and gals if other opportunities come for you to bank elsewhere please do!!! You have been warned and advised! I even emailed the CEO 4 times and no response! They are not a bank and do not follow bank guidelines! Stay away from Chime!!!!

So now I have a 1,000 check that isn't worth the paper it's on. Can't open a new account somewhere else because I don't have a non-driver's license and my expired ID is over 10 years old. Is that on me? Yes, but with how New York State works... it's red tape around here! I would not recommend Chime Bank at all! They don't do anything to help you. Go to somewhere local.

How is that I had asked. The check from the payee cleared their bank 05/12/2026 and yet Chime hasn't deposited the funds into my account, so where's MY MONEY??? This is unacceptable, especially when I have children to take care of. They're causing me to borrow money that in turn is costing me money to borrow so They're non integral actions are not in the customer's best interest, they're actually making money with interest charges on my money that they're holding that shouldn't be held.

I will never use Chime again. I disputed a transaction because I was scammed and they basically told me tough luck - nothing they can do. My bad for trusting an online sale and badder for trusting Chime. Basically they make it ideal for scammers because the scammers have no repercussions which is why I assume they use Chime. Chime should be refunding my money and going after the scammers. In my opinion Chime is as much as a scam as the scammers that use it. I guess as long as the money is flowing through Chime - they don't care who or how it is used.

Updated on 05/09/2026: Well my issue is still ongoing after the last time I called customer service and they got me a manager and she was the worst manager I have ever talked to!! Took her 20 minutes to get to the call but I figured that that's because she was already looking at my account and had decided what she was going to say ahead of time. She never even gave me a chance to talk. She blamed my checks not getting deposited on the date that they are issued. Which as I said before I have even shown them proof of the fact that I get paid on the 3rd not the third Wednesday or 4th Wednesday of the month. Then she proceeded to keep talking and when I tried to talk she just talked louder faster and came to where she said and, "I can no longer help you with this issue. So I'm ending the call," and she hung up. This means they're not escalating my case, which means they're not looking for my missing deposit from SSA.
Even though they found my money in March and April it took them till the end of the month to find it and get it deposited. However, this time if they do not escalate the case to their team then they won't look for my money. Which means of course they get to keep it if I don't take some measures to stop this. However, what you can do is very limited, but I've got some ideas and I'm doing some posts at the most important sites. Reviews that just tell what I've experienced and nothing more. So right now until I figure something out my money is in limbo and not in my account. I really really really advise not to use chime. I will update this as soon as they give me a reason to it. Going to be a good update or a bad. We'll see.
Original Review: Since switching my Social Security direct deposits to Chime in February, I have experienced repeated issues receiving my monthly payments on time. My official SSA payment date is the 3rd of each month, which I confirmed multiple times directly with the Social Security Administration and through screenshots from the SSA website.
In March, my payment was sent and marked as processed by SSA on March 3rd, yet no deposit appeared in my account. After numerous calls, escalations, and repeated requests for “proof of deposit” — despite the issue being that no deposit existed — Chime finally located and credited my funds on March 31st. The same exact issue happened again in April. SSA confirmed the payment had been sent and processed on April 3rd, but Chime failed to deposit it. After weeks of repeated calls and frustration, the funds were not located until April 28th.
Now the issue has repeated for a third time in May. SSA confirmed my payment was sent on May 1st because the 3rd fell on a weekend, yet again, no deposit was made to my account. Customer service has been extremely difficult to deal with throughout this process. I have been transferred repeatedly, hung up on multiple times, denied access to management, and forced to repeat the same information over and over despite already providing documentation proving my payment date. Most concerning is that this month, Chime has refused to escalate my case at all. Without escalation, there is no investigation into where the missing deposit is or what happened to the funds. Which would mean Chime would keep my money.
I feel that if I do not continue pushing this issue and taking outside action, my money will simply remain unresolved while no effort is made to locate it. Chime still has not corrected the incorrect payment schedule information on my account, nor have they addressed why my SSA payments are repeatedly being processed but not deposited. Each delay has caused serious financial hardship, additional expenses, and unnecessary stress.
At this point, I am pursuing further action, including filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, and other consumer protection agencies. I will also continue sharing my experience publicly so others are aware before trusting Chime with important direct deposits. If anyone has experienced something similar or has advice on additional steps I should take, I would appreciate the guidance.

They are a terrible Bank when it comes to assistance with fraud claims! I was frauded $647.00 and the took only two days, whereas most banks take 4-6 weeks to investigate!? And don't ask for a manager as there is none, just peons that read from a script! They have a parent bank, overseer who states they don't get involved, Stride Bank!! We were the victims of fraud and found that Chime has developed a platform that enables fraud. They also refuse to monitor their platform and remove individuals who have scammed when presented evidence of the scam to prevent that individual from using their platform for another crime. They not only developed a vehicle that scammers must love but also refuse to protect their members that are using their application in good faith. Use at your own risk, which is not something I would say of their competitors and as you can see from this AI search reply: User Experience & Trust: While some users love the user-friendly, "stress-free" app, many others report significant issues with customer support and resolving fraudulent transactions, often finding themselves without recourse after money is stolen.

When I asked the Chime rep how someone applied for a card in my name, and on what date it was applied for, he demanded a picture of the front and back of my license. Absolutely horrible. Their website says there is no transaction number limit on “pay anyone” function, but yet after a few failed transactions which their system counted as real transaction (even though they didn’t go through) I got a message saying I exceeded daily limit of seven transactions which I was not even aware was a thing. I got no warning from the system about this rule beforehand. I had to get this money to someone that day and could not. And my debit limit was less than the amount I was trying to send so I couldn’t send an instant transfer either, and bank-to-bank transfer would take three days, so I was stuck.
This really caused me a great upset, and I spent a total of four hours on the phone talking to five people, two of which were supervisors and they were clueless and didn’t seem to understand how their own system works because every advice they gave me as a solution failed. Sadly, Chime doesn’t come close to replacing a real bank’s checking account
