They are horrible. I have had money come up missing from my account and provided information to the person or person's that I felt were responsible for doing so to suddenly being told my claim was denied so I have lost around 4k using this bank. They tell me to provide information to help my complaint but as soon as I did based on what I could give them they declined my claim within 24 hours. Just because I think I know who is behind it doesn't mean I approved it or freely gave it away and I don't feel that it's right to fraud happen to me and then have a financial institution back it by letting them just get your money and go.

I’ve been a member with Chime maybe a year or more now. Things have been going fine until I recently got a credit alert that my score had dropped 11 points with one of the bureaus and 9 with the other, putting me down into the 600 range. The reason was showing that my credit balance had gone from approximately $256 to an $800 balance. The credit builder is, you put money in as you need it and spend it. I’ve NEVER had $800 in there OR have a balance due of $800. After contacting chime, no one can seem to help me or tell me why, but they want me to file a dispute. The department (at Chime) that handles this type situation, you cannot talk to a live agent. They will only deal with it through email.
When I did call, they had sent me to someone that took all the information but never told me it was the wrong department. They outsource everything out of the country so no one in the (Chime) banking system itself can tell me why they’re showing an $800 balance when there is NO BALANCE. I’m waiting on a dispute for a fraud charge to be sent back into my account. I’ve already transferred all of my money in the chime accounts to another bank, and once the fraud dispute gets settled I will no longer deal with Chime. This isn’t an isolated situation others I know have had the same problem.😡

I'm starting to think one of their staff is stealing. 16 transaction for $5 and one for $20 and they say they can't help.

I've read a lot of reviews on Chime banking. Many people have been with them for years and very happy. Some have had issues. I can't talk bad about chime banking. But I can let you know about my experiences with them. It takes about a good week to deposit a check. No matter the amount. I deposit a check Friday morning and will finally be available by Thursday after 8pm. I've heard of people depositing checks and available same day. I've heard of people that aren't able to deposit a check. Guess I'm kinda in the middle with for me takes forever to be cashed.

At one time I really liked banking with Chime but after I found out how they do things I don't find them as a favorite any more, Here's the last incident I encountered, A friend of mine asked me to help her out, she's going thru hard time, I chimed her some money thru the mobile app. She has chime also, anyhow she couldn't get into her chime account because she lost her phone service and chime wanted to send the prompts to her phone, this was May 30th. So I called chime June 3rd and tried explaining what happened, your gonna love this, the live agent told me she's gotta get into her account to refund me the money, I told her that if she's in her account she doesn't need to refund me the money. Gezzz. It went back and forth like that for a while. She just said I can't get a refund on that to send it to her another way, I've never heard of anything so ridiculous and I'm a CHIME + MEMBER , Yeah you all enjoy your day.

Chime customer service is so bad. I'm extremely frustrated! I requested an asset verification form on Tuesday morning. I explained this is an urgent request. I really needed it as I was in the process of applying for an apartment to get my son and I out of transitional housing. I was told by a Chime representative that my request could not be expedited and would be submitted to the necessary department and it would be emailed to me 24-48 hours from request time which would be by Thursday. After the call I get an email confirmation that the request is acknowledged and I would get a response soon. Okay cool.
I spent nearly 4 hours getting the run around about the status, once 48 hours passed and I still had not received it. The first rep I spoke to, Thamasis (felt like he lied about his name because he spelled it 3 different ways), was extremely rude and dismissive. I asked to be transferred to his supervisor. He placed me on hold for nearly 30 minutes and another rep, Michael who was not a supervisor, got on the line. He was a tiny bit less dismissive but promised he could help without a supervisor. Okay cool, he also placed me on hold several times and then ultimately explained he could not help. He refused to transfer to a supervisor but said he would need to transfer me to a different department.
I sat on hold for nearly 40 minutes before the call disconnected. I tried using the chat app, and the Ai repeated directed me to a link that was supposed to be the direct line to resolve my issue. I click it and get a call from a rep named Gaby who also was dismissive and placed me on several holds. This went on another 20-something minutes before she finally said she couldn't help because she worked in the fraud department and would need to transfer me to the correct department. After another 30 minutes or so, I get a rep named Andres. Who did something that prompted me to get another email confirming the request and someone would email the document. He was willing to get me to a supervisor. Another 20 minutes hold, and Joni, who claimed to be a supervisor, finally gets on the line.
Another one who was wildly dismissive. She stood firm on waiting until the 48 hours, as it's the policy, which is understandable but at that time it was well past that threshold. Okay, cool, let's get into this policy. I asked her what the time stamp on the original request was. She verified it was 11 am Tuesday morning. I double checked the time zone and asked if it was standard 24-48 hours or if it was 24-48 business hours.
She confirmed it was not business hours, just standard. I pointed out that it was well past the time I should have received and now out of the policy parameters. She became irrate when I called out the contradiction of the policy. Then switched up her story and said it could be after the 48 hours. Anyways, it's now Friday, and I still do not have the document and did not meet the deadline to get the apartment. I've been with Chime for years and have always had a terrible experience with customer service. They never pass up a moment to take from me, but can't be bothered to give me the bare minimum.

Walked ten miles to use my card to buy water..Tried to get into my account on my phone, with my phone number, my fingerprint and got a message from Chime that I needed to scan my ID... How have we come so far into this world of tech apps, technology, and AI that even after validating with chime support who I was, with my fingerprint, the security I set up on my account, could you as a "caring about your customers company be more worried about an ID scan than the human life of one of your customers stranded in a Nevada desert trying to get into their account to access their money in order to get water to survive on....I'm so disgusted by the actions and behavior of this company, they should literally be sued for leaving a human life one of their loyal customers for dead in a Nevada desert over a bullshit ID scan even though I already verified my identity with my fingerprint, phone number and a call to support..... One star for the impressive ability to receive my $2,300 payroll deposit while simultaneously pretending direct deposit somehow still isn’t set up. Signed up through a referral promotion for the $100 bonus. Payroll deposit hit the account successfully. Money went IN just fine. Funny how that works. But according to the app, I still need to “set up direct deposit.” Customer support has been a masterclass in scripted stalling:
“Wait 14 business days.”
“Wait after card activation.”
At this rate I’m expecting them to tell me Mercury needs to be in retrograde before payroll counts as payroll. Nobody can answer a basic question: "Did my employer payroll deposit qualify or not?" The whole experience feels less like banking and more like participating in a customer endurance challenge where the prize is eventually giving up on the promotional bonus they advertised in the first place. If your paycheck arrives, they’ll happily take it immediately. If it’s time for them to honor the promotion? Suddenly everyone becomes deeply confused about what a payroll deposit is. Incredible technology... that feeds you ads, new promotions, and stuff to make CHIME money... but you never get the $100 promotion they promised.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Chime and I feel obligated to warn others before trusting this company with their hard-earned money. I experienced over $1,000 in unauthorized charges and ATM withdrawals on my account, and instead of receiving support, understanding, and protection from the company that advertises itself as being customer-friendly and modern, I was treated with disrespect, frustration, and complete disregard for my financial hardship. The unauthorized activity on my account caused me severe stress and anxiety. These transactions were not made by me, and I immediately did what any responsible customer would do: I reported the fraudulent activity, filed a dispute, and submitted documentation to support my claim.
I provided evidence and cooperated fully throughout the process because I honestly believed Chime would investigate fairly and protect me as their customer. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at all. After filing the dispute, I spent countless hours trying to communicate with customer service representatives who were difficult to understand and often seemed poorly trained. Many of the representatives barely spoke clear English, making communication extremely frustrating during an already stressful situation. I had to repeat myself over and over again just to explain basic details about my case. Instead of showing empathy or professionalism, several representatives came across as rude, dismissive, and uninterested in actually helping resolve the issue.
What made the situation even worse was the lack of consistency. Every time I contacted customer service, I was given different information. One representative would say the investigation was ongoing, another would claim they never received certain documents even though I had already submitted them, and another would provide vague scripted responses that solved absolutely nothing. It felt like nobody actually cared about investigating the fraud or protecting my account. Despite providing documentation and evidence regarding the unauthorized charges and ATM withdrawals, Chime ultimately denied my dispute claim. I was shocked and disgusted by the decision. It honestly felt like they automatically sided against me instead of conducting a real investigation.
Losing over $1,000 due to fraudulent activity is devastating enough, but being denied reimbursement after following every procedure made the situation even more frustrating and unfair. What concerns me the most is how unsafe and unprotected I felt as a customer. A financial company should make customers feel secure, especially during fraud situations. Instead, I felt ignored, blamed, and abandoned. If unauthorized ATM withdrawals and charges can happen so easily and then be denied after a dispute is filed, it raises serious concerns about Chime’s fraud protection process and customer support standards. I also did not appreciate how long everything took. The dispute process dragged on while I remained without access to money that I needed for bills, food, transportation, and everyday living expenses. During that time, customer service provided little to no reassurance.
The emotional stress alone was exhausting. It is unacceptable for a company handling people’s finances to operate this way. Another major issue is accountability. I expected transparency and detailed explanations regarding why my claim was denied, but instead I received generic responses that did not properly address the evidence I submitted. It felt robotic and dismissive, as if my case was never thoroughly reviewed by an actual person. Customers deserve better than copy-and-paste responses when dealing with financial fraud and missing money. I would strongly caution anyone considering banking with Chime to think carefully before trusting them with large amounts of money or relying on them as their primary financial institution.
When everything is going well, these online banking apps may seem convenient, but the real test of a financial company is how they treat customers during emergencies and fraud situations. In my case, Chime failed completely. The lack of professional customer service, the communication barriers, the denial of my documented fraud dispute, and the overall disrespect I experienced have permanently damaged my trust in this company. I will never recommend Chime to friends, family, coworkers, or anyone else after what I went through. People deserve a bank or financial institution that takes fraud seriously, communicates clearly, investigates fairly, and actually protects its customers when unauthorized activity occurs.
My experience with Chime has been one of the most stressful and disappointing financial experiences I have ever dealt with. Customers should not have to fight this hard just to be heard after reporting fraud. I hope this review encourages Chime to improve its customer service, fraud investigation procedures, and overall treatment of customers because what I experienced was unacceptable.

I used to love them, but recently I hurt my back and I was sitting at home and I heard my account go off and even though I was sitting at home with my ATM card in my purse, next to me they were allowing people to withdraw money from my account out-of-state. I called and reported it within 2 minutes. The worker told me that she can see that the people are still trying to withdraw more money out of an ATM over 3000 miles away from my home. I had Locked my card as I called chime but they still allowed 1 more charge to go thru. I talked to their representative. I reported as fraud.. The representative calmly told me, "Oh, it's normal for people to clone cards. Don't worry, we'll have your money back in 10 days," which was too long.
First of all, but I accepted that I made a police report. I did ic3 report through the FBI reported fraud. I sent time a copy of the police report the FBI report. I had door dashed to my house. It showed up about 5 minutes before this happened, doordash had nothing to do with it, but I sent them the receipt to prove that I was door dashing to my home. Also, the only charges I made on my account before was about 3 hours before I had put gas in my car at a local gas station, but Chime has now denied my claim 4 times. They basically allowed someone to fraud my account. And even though I notified them within two minutes that someone three thousand miles away was withdrawing cash from an a t m, and they still refused to refund my money.
I have so far withdrew everything from my account, got a new bank account which I'm happy with, and I'm still fighting for my money back. It's been 40 days now and 4 denials, chime refuses to reopen the case due to I don't have any new evidence. When I asked to speak to someone who actually works in the fraud department, they refused to let me talk to anyone who works with the fraud department and all they say is they can't reopen the fraud case.
This is b. S, I've never once reported any charges as weird or funny as I always have my ATM card on me. I've never given anyone my pin. And I'm a responsible respectable person. Please avoid using chime at all costs. Unless you can afford for someone to steal all your money and them to deny you. Also, when I call, you can literally hear other people laughing in the background. When I\n Ask for an explanation of why they're denying my claim. They don't have one.
