    Updated review: Dec. 19, 2015

Finally received credit. Why does it take this company 2.5 weeks to cash a check that has been mailed certified?

    Original Review: Nov. 16, 2015

Navient is seriously mismanaging my PRIVATE LOAN account. They are being neglectful to the point that it is damaging my credit when I have my full efforts to make payments while still being unemployed. Why doesn't Navient employees have any accountability for managing an account ethically and honestly. I have made two payments these past few weeks. However, I received a private collection notice in the mail last Friday???

One payment made for 200.00 "mailed" on 10/2/2015 with cashiers counter check (documented online on 10/8/2015). One for 76.91 paid through online account on 11/2/2015. So although I made efforts for payments, NAVIENT turned me into private collections. How is this NOT GOING TO DAMAGE MY CREDIT, which will hinder me getting a full time job to make larger payments??? Your methods are very counter productive to your own company and you don't seem to be able to "manage" student loan accounts very efficiently.

UPDATED ON 02/10/2016: I made numerous attempts to review the history and details of a consolidated loan that is now appearing on my account. In December 8/2015 I printed out all my loan information. Now I have a loan called LOAN 1-12 CONSOLIDATION appearing. The funds were dispersed on 12/14/2005. Keeping in mind that was for Capella and I have those loans with ACS. I think I am being double billed for the same loans for this period between Navient and ACS.

Navient does not provide a breakdown for why this loan totals $14,091.69. Again, there is no breakdown for the individual loans for this large amount. I went to this link ** but there is not a breakdown. I want to know the disbursement dates, the school and amount before I pay on this. Again, I think I am paying for these loans with ACS.

Since Navient took over Sallie Mae, they have decided to go back in time and create new fees that were never on any bills before. I have called to get their explanation and literally going seven years back in time, they have started creating new fees per month in around the 5 dollar range until they came up with $150 in 'previously assessed fees', except these fees were NEVER on any bill in the seven years prior. Now for 'October 2015' they suddenly have fees due going all the way back to November of 2008. They claim these were always there, but not a single bill can show that outside of their 'new system'. This is a serious offense, in my book. And I am certain, it HAS to be illegal too!

I am not a happy camper with Navient. Been paying for my loan for 3 years. Got confused of why my loans weren't going down. So I called and lady told me out of $89, I've been paying each month only $1 went toward my actual loan and the other $88 went toward my interest. WTF. I sign up with Sallie Mae from start then Navient bought them out. I had 1 loan. Now I have 2 loans which I have no clue where 2nd came from. Still pissed that it took me 3 damn years to pay for freaking interest and nothing went toward the actual loan. Jerks. I'm paying off loans in hundreds now to have it paid off. DO NOT borrow from these thieves.

On November 10, 2015 I noticed my scheduled payment to Navient (aka Sallie Mae) had not been withdrawn (ACH) from my bank account. I then accessed my online account and seen notices that shown that Navient had not withdrawn money from my account since August. I called the customer service representative number and the csr person provided little help and was rude contradicting herself. She stated it was my fault because I had not provided the correct information. She told me that the reason the money had not been taken out in months was that my bank account was closed. I told her my bank account was not "closed", and never has been and that the money is in my account presently and awaiting their withdrawal. I also confirmed with her that the account information was correct. She told me that Navient had sent me emails about my account status over the last few months.

I accessed and reviewed my Yahoo email account and told her "no" such emails existed. She insisted that emails had been sent to me and I insisted that I had not received any except one in October and it was only a payment reminder email. I requested and had her put a supervisor on the phone. He name was James. James gave me much of the same information and told me I could go to my Navient account and review the correspondence letter sent out to me. After working hard to convince James that my bank account was not "closed" we finally made some "head way". He told me to check with my bank but that what I needed to do was to reapply for auto debit because I was dropped based on the information they received from my bank. I then sent a personal check to the address shown for payments to Wilkes Barre, PA to cover two payments and will reapply for auto debit after I see the payment posted.

I then called my bank and as you might guess, the bank said that they have "no" record of having denied or received any ACH from Navient and don't turn ACHs for no reason unless it’s got the wrong account information attached. Needless to say, my bank account is not closed and never has been. As a result Navient is requiring I pay some small late payment fees. If Navient does this on a large enough scale they obviously make large sums of money. Research suggest that Navient/Sallie Mae has had many many issues numbering in the thousands and has been sued and condemned by the FDIC for some of their unfair practices. I am not requesting they reverse the wrongly posted fees but I do want this information to reflect on their record to help others know about their seemingly dishonest business practices. Furthermore, posting what seems to be a fictitious letter is a type of fraud.

While BBB is giving Navient a pass based on the volume of business I supposed, I have seen another site that had processed 6097 complaints as of June 2015. And there are even more sites out there reporting this business. I paid my account down from $9500 or thereabouts to $1500 without a glitch when the company function under Sallie Mae. 90% which was done by Auto Debit. Now all of a sudden there are problems. When I place my account on auto debit I expect the program to function effortlessly. My credit report should not take a hit based on their processing or dishonest practices.

My fiance's loans are being serviced by Sallie Mae, now reformed into Navient. (A brand-name change in an attempt to escape negative reviews like the one I am about to write.) She has 6 "Smart Option Private Loans" totalling $117k and has to make payments of $1728 a month. Now, they try to sell Smart Option loans as just that, a Smart Option because they advertise that all you have to do is pay the interest while you're in school so you can keep your balance down. But, once you have already signed up and have had the money dispersed, you quickly realize that as a student carrying a full time course load and trying to maintain a part time job, you won't be able to afford the interest only payments.

So they 'work' with you and agree that all you have to do is pay $25 a month per loan and everything will be ok. But they don't tell you, "Oh, your loans will continue to accrue interest." Even while making the multiple payments of $25. So you do that, for 4 years. Now you graduate and are ready to enter the working world but your loans come due and because of the interest gained, the term of the loans and the inflexibility of a "Smart Option Loan" you are stuck with a non adjustable monthly payment.

At this point, your options are: A) Live at home with your parents, never go out and spend all of your income (and 70% of your fiance's income too) in order to stay on top of these monthly payments. B) Stop paying and hope they work something out with you without dropping your 700 credit score down to 220. C) Apply for Interest Only Payments and throw every cent you have at the largest loan balance in hopes of paying it off before the 15 month interest only payment period ends.

I've been told by one particularly kind and sincere Navient/Sallie Mae phone rep that, "I've told my kids how horrible these loans are. I told them if they can't get what they need in scholarships, can't get what they need from federal loans, to come to mom and dad and we can work something out. But I wouldn't wish these loans on my worst enemy." Something else they don't tell you is that: If your co-signer passes away, your loans will immediately be considered Default and be due in FULL. They're ruthless. They don't care about your education and they know there's nothing we can do about it.

If I could give a no star rating to this company I would. I went through Sallie Mae to get my loan over 4 years ago. They were great. My payment was withdrawn every month, no harm no foul. As soon as Navient took over, all hell broke loose. They quit withdrawing my payments for some strange reason. After a month or two of not seeing it come out, I called to inquire what was wrong. They couldn't ever tell me what had happened, and said they would fix it. When the payments started coming out again, they were in smaller amounts. This may sound nice, but there's no way I was about to longer to pay my student loan than needed.

Perhaps they were just fishing for some more interest from me. But no way. I called 4 times to get it fixed. Finally someone figured it out. I have since stopped automatic withdrawals because I do not want a company this incompetent to have access to my banking account. They continue to be a nuisance. Like having a student loan isn't stressful enough? Just let me pay my loan in peace.

I have not received the same type of positive servicing on Student loans through Sallie Mae now Navient as I have with ACS. I am called several times a time, often they hang up when I answer. Navient uses people in the Philippines to call and try and collect. I've complained for years about Florida Metropolitan University and about a loan that never should have occurred only to find out that the student is held to a higher degree of accountability than the schools or the lender?

Asked for a special deferment status until the lawsuit regarding students of the now closed Corinthian colleges and answer is NO Bring loan current. No response wherein I wanted to know how they believe they should be paid before the loans for University of Phoenix which are thru ACS and legitimate. God Help Me, Navient drives me crazy with their incessant calling even when you have asked them to at least not called at certain days and times. Hoping the class action lawsuit and other investigations reveal just how greedy and corrupt Navient is.

After 2 years of payments on time every time I was checking my loan balance and it is more now than the original amount, last month I called to ask why and the girl kept trying to tell me it was because of interest. She kept telling me the monthly interest comes out to 170 per month but I kept saying "I understand that but I pay 233 per month which is more than the interest so at least a small amount should be going towards the principal" and she kept saying, "Well no because you are paying interest." She told me, "Well we will put out an investigation and it will take a few days." Within hours I got the results so clearly there was no investigation. No way it could be done so quick.

Anyways since their so called investigation which got me nowhere I am unable to log in. Ever since it tells me an error occurred I have been trying to make my November 20th payment for 2 weeks now. I know it's still early but I plan out my bills and wanted it payed already so I called and she told me the IT department would correct this and days later... Still unable to log in. There is something not adding up here why my principal is rising when I pay faithfully every month on time. Just like owning a home a certain amount goes to interest and what's left goes to principal and you can noticeably see the loan going down... Well not with these loans they are going up and not down one penny. I am not done with them and why my principal hasn't decreased. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.

I have had multiple horrible experiences with Navient since they bought Sallie Mae. I asked about lowering monthly payments while experiencing some financial difficulty. I answered many many questions about my personal expenses, income, etc in order to qualify for a payment plan. I was told I qualify, authorized a direct debt, and thought all was well. Then weeks later was getting repeated calls from Navient. When I spoke with someone I was told that my account wasn't current. I was told that the repayment plan didn't receive manager approval and I was now in default on the payments. They were very unhelpful when I told them I signed up and was told I was enrolled in the program. They said under terms and conditions it had to still be approved by a manager. He said it didn't look like it was submitted correctly. I asked why I should be negatively impacted because the employee didn't submit it correctly.

I asked to re-enroll and then was told I needed to answer all the same financial questions I answered weeks prior. I spend hours on the phone trying to set this up. I was then re-enrolled. I authorized direct payment deductions. I received a letter in the mail confirming the direct debit of payments on the new payment plan. 3 weeks later I received another letter notifying me that I was not eligible for the payment plan after a manager denied approval. Then I started to receive calls harassing me that I am 49 days late on payments. I tried to explain I paid what was agreed upon.

I spoke to a manager who told me it is my responsibility to pay my bills on time. When I told her I am having financial difficulty she said maybe you need to sell your home and buy one you can afford. She was very rude and judgment. My credit score has taken a hit because of this as well. This is the worst company I have dealt with ever! I have collectively spoken to countless rude representatives during this process. I am searching for alternative companies to handle my loans.

I made an automatic payment through my banking online bill pay on 10/5/15. I was on the phone with Navient every other day on my lunch break trying to find where the payment was. Navient stated on every call that they did not receive payment and I needed to send a bank statement. I called my bank who gave me a trace and confirmation # of the check that Navient cashed. I forwarded that information with the bank statement to Navient and it still is not sufficient. Now they want an "Electronic funds transfer transmitter form" which my bank does not have for me. Now my payment is shown as past due when I made the payment two weeks early.

I am trying to repair my credit so this is having a negative impact on my attempts. My bank has told me that there is nothing else they can do for me because the check was cashed. Navient emailed me and said they received the check and it had gone to the wrong bill pay address. However they are not applying the money to my account as a payment and not sending payment back. So Navient and the bank just expect me to forget about my money and double pay. This is fraud and theft. I don't know the next step. I certainly can't afford a lawyer to help.

I paid last month and looked online a few days ago because I had a feeling something was wrong. Sure enough they are saying my account is delinquent and my payment isn't showing. My check was cashed and I have proof from my bank that someone from Navient cashed my check with my Navient account on there. However my payment from October 4 still is not showing up in my account as of November 3rd, so odd. This made me think, how many other payments did not show up in my account. For 1 full year my payments of $500 each month were not posted into my account, that's just the 1 year I looked in, there could be more. That's about $6,000. Are you serious? Just from navigating through the site, it became very apparent to me that the User Interface is set up to make it very, very simple to make a payment or update payment information, but incredible difficult to get any help. First off, Navient does not really provide customer service and what they do provide is incomplete and very limited in options. I am trying to change my payment due date, and on their website the ONLY thing that has the phrase, "Can I change my payment due date," is an FAQ with an incredibly short answer with no details about how to proceed with this action that, essentially, only answers, "Yes, you can." I tried calling, until I realized THERE ARE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENTS YOU CAN REACH BY PHONE!

So, I just sent an email requesting the specific date I would like to change to, and it says someone will respond in 3-5 business days, but who knows? This is absolutely ridiculous. I don't care how bad the economy is doing, if you work or run a financial institution of any kind it should LEGALLY MANDATED that you have an actual, reachable customer service agent who speaks English and Spanish fluently in the US. Even if it's from 9-5 ET, that's still better than a robot you can only reach from 8AM - 9PM EST. Which brings up another question: if your customer service is a robot, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO LIMIT THE TIME TO MONDAY-FRIDAY 8AM-9PM ET?! Navient, seriously, way to do the bare minimum for your customers. You are literally a mobster that did just enough to legally continue giving out loans.

First of all, I was not informed that they changed from Sallie Mae to Navient. This should be a sign that they're crooked. Second, six months later they try to charge me $3,000 of interest (three years of interest!). I got the letter promptly, go on the phone and yelled at them! I told them that I knew what the balance was. Not paying one penny more. ** take it off and btw it was training program, not a four year college. The woman was apologetic, said she sorry and I told her I keep off everything, kept honest or I make another call! Then I found out because of total and permanent disability (psychiatric disorder) that someone in some state paid it off. Told them they tried to put off ten years later to accrue $2,000 of interest extra! Then said "What! I'll have a talk to them!". Checked Navient to make sure these don't pull anything else. It said paid in full because of permanent disability.

My daughter took a loan with Sallie Mae, with my husband as a co-signer so she could return to school. The loan was turned over to Navient. When my daughter was having health problems and couldn't work we paid the loan. This year she signed up with a Student Aid Center and they review the loans and said that they would be consolidated or forgiven. Now Navient after 8 months is telling us and the Student Aid Center that this loan is not eligible because it was a private loan. If my daughter doesn't make payments we were told that the full payment of the loan fall on us since my husband co-signed. My daughter tried for a deferment but that was denied. Navient has called us nonstop and have sent us letters threatening litigation if we don't pay. Navient has been rude and have hung up on us when we try to explain or ask questions.

I contacted Navient loans, formerly Sallie Mae, regarding arrangements for lower monthly payments. Initial representative was quite rude when I told him I was experiencing some financial hardships. I requested to speak to another rep who was kind and helpful. I did get on a lower monthly payment plan. First payment was due in 2 days so I made payment over phone, and received verbal confirmation number besides email.

25 days later, I receive a letter from Navient my payment is late. I spent 35 minutes yesterday on phone speaking to a rep, Ina, besides a supervisor, Aldo, to clarify the matter that I paid 25 days ago providing confirmation number. I received both verbally and thru email. Aldo says Navient rep had my payment transferred to wrong educational account department. Well that is the Navient rep's error and not mine. I made my payment ON TIME 2 days before it was due.

I complained to Navient supervisor, Aldo. This is not the first time both Sallie Mae and Navient made an error and FALSELY said I was late on payments and reported info to IL Student Assistance Commission and credit bureau. In addition, I expressed to Navient I was contacting Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs, as it unnecessarily puts the consumer that is truly making on time payments at a disadvantage with Navient/Sallie Mae's continued errors.

I am past due on my loan, but as I've told them (many, many times) I do not have the money to pay them. They tell me there is no option other than to pay $50 every 3 months for a forbearance... well, that's not an option for me either. In the mean time, they will continue to call me excessively and completely disregarded my complaint about the times they call me and the fact that they never leave a message. They also told me that in order to limit the calls, I can answer every day and repeat the same information over and over again. It is positively ridiculous, and they should not be able to get away with it!

I can call my federal loans at any time and get a yearlong deferral without having to pay them anything. I just don't understand why Navient can't have similar programs. They are an absolute horrid business. To all of you who have had such bad experiences with Navient, please write to Elizabeth Warren, a US Senator who is really taking charge for Education Reform, as she also understands how screwed up this country is when it comes to higher education.

I am beyond disappointed and frustrated with my experience with Navient, if I could give a negative 5 stars I would. I wanted to apply for an educational debt program with my work and have been working with Navient over a month to complete the process. Every time I talk to customer service and write an email, I have gotten different answers and no one seems to know anything. Even trying to get a straight answer about when and what time forms were being faxed was a headache. For example, when I received my forms via fax, I called customer service to ask if they can re-fax them because they were not clear and I was told it would be done within 48 hours. I waited 4 days (since it was the weekend) and have yet to receive anything, I'm no computer genius, but I do know faxes do not take days to send and receive.

When I called first thing in the morning, I was told it was not processed. I was very clear and persistent about the due date soon approaching, however no one paid attention. I was even told it was already faxed and I should receive it within minutes, and if I haven't received it, to call. I have called several times to inform them that I have yet to receive anything, each phone call is a different answer, from it has been sent.... to its been processed.... to, supervisor didn't know there was urgent.... to no, it has to be approved. I am still waiting. I don't understand why it has to go through several departments to get something that already has been approved and faxed to get re-faxed. What is even more frustrating is certain forms cannot be emailed, if we can send them important documents, why can't they upload them onto our Navient inbox?

First, all student loans (government) have been outsourced to Navient. I received an e-mail from Navient in late August after the beginning of our new quarter (PhD dissertation phase program) stating that I may begin to make payments on my student loans because of my non-student status. I telephoned to state that I am still a full-time student and not required to begin payback. The Navient representative (NR) asked to have my institution provide Navient with a letter confirming my status.

I sent my institution's bursars office an e-mail requesting the letter or form requested by Navient. I received the following response (name of institution removed for privacy): "** is a participant with the National Student Clearinghouse. As a participant, all of our student enrollment data is submitted electronically to the clearinghouse. After the submission, the clearinghouse certifies our enrollment data and forwards the information to their participating lenders. Our reporting to the clearinghouse occurs on the 15th of every month.

Please note that participating lenders are required to accept our electronic certifications from the National Student Clearinghouse. Therefore, ** will not prepare verification letters for participating lenders. Should your lender(s) insist that they do not have current enrollment data for you, or if you have lenders that are not participants, you may complete the attached In-School Deferment Request form and submit it to us. It will be completed within 48 hours after the start date of the term.

To complete the deferment request form, fill out sections 1-3 on page one and list your lender's name(s) under section 7 on page two. You may fax, e-mail it in pdf format or mail the completed form, Attn: Student Records Team using the contact information below. Upon receipt, we will make our certification and fax, or mail the form to your lender(s) on your behalf. If section 7 is left blank, the certification will be mailed to you for submission. For more information about the National Student Clearinghouse, please visit: www.studentclearinghouse.org and click on the Student & Alumni tab, or call the clearinghouse directly at 703-742-4200."

I immediately called Navient (9/25/15, @ 6:20 p.m. Eastern), explained the institution's response, and asked for next steps. The NR stated that she (female) would gladly provide an electronic forbearance form for me to sign using my phone keypad. The NR stated I would now have a 10/28 payment end date. The NR said that the clearing house time required 30-45 days to process information. I stated to the NR that the time stated was completely new, had never occurred previously since my enrollment in community college for the AA degree nearly 15 years ago, and that I had been a full-time student throughout that time to date. NR did not reply to my statement. NR repeated the 30-45 day time a total of six times.

I listened to the electronic recording for the forbearance agreement 4 times. During the recordings, NR interrupted and stated, "You need to press the pound key" for a total of 4 times. I tried to get NR to respond as I had questions about the terminology "unable to pay," terms of the agreement, automatic penalties, and placement into default. NR finally stopped the recordings and repeated for a 5th time that I needed to press the pound key. I said, "No, I have questions," and proceeded to state that I am not legally unable to pay and, therefore, would be lying. Further, that the terms stated in the recording were such that agreement would place the loan in an automatic default status with penalties applied.

I stated I would be calling the clearing house next. Since the clearing house is closed, I will call on Monday. I also wrote back to the bursar asking if the 30-45 day time stated by Navient was within normal limits. I will probably not receive a response until Monday. The wording in the recording was concerning for its content, and NR statements were concerning for the obvious push to agree to a forbearance versus addressing my concerns.

I do not feel anger or frustration. I feel that my concerns are within limits of normal consumer questions that have gone without answers. I'm using this forum to share the information and I will return with further information as that occurs. I will also send e-mail and snail-mail letters to all relevant government agencies. The call was recorded by Navient, was made via my cell phone, and also recorded by me which is allowed by my state's laws. Thanks for reading. To be continued.

I fax all the information and they told me that I qualify for a full amount pay loan at no cost. It was too good to be true. I keep calling ECMC because after that never heard from them again.

In one of my calls I talked to a representative and explained again all my situation. I think the person that I talked to felt bad for me and told me about some other help that I am qualified for because I am a disabled. So I did everything the person told me to do and yes they paid the full amount of my student loan 4 months ago and now I just paid $5.00 at month and even my credit report got much better. It was $14,000 that I used to owe. In the last 2 week I start receiving calls, emails, letters. They are harassing me from a company named Navient so I got tired of the calls and also I wanted to know what they want and who they are.

I start talking with one of the representative over the phone and the first thing I heard was Sallie Mae. She also give me the quantity that I was going to pay starting next month $155.00. I got very angry because at this moment I never heard from Navient before. I start thinking how this people know so much about me and even got an account number with payments and bamm I told myself this is ECMC that is why in that time when I first find out about the "help" for pay my student loan it was incredibly good. I put the representative on hold and call the bank that paid the full amount of the student loan and I explained what was going on. They told me that Navient do not work directly with the federal government, that they are a third party and that is how they catch so many people starting as "ECMC the miracle loan eraser" that turn to Navient.

I was so mad yesterday when I was talking to the representative because she keeps saying that I own them money from the student loan that is already taken care of and even fix my credit report. Today I have to call them back because yesterday I called Navient and I couldn't talk to a supervisor. So be aware of Navient. This company are really good harassing people life. If you go online you can find out yourself that ECMC and Navient collection both are not working straight with the federal government. They are a third party company. I originally consolidated with Sallie Mae when I first graduated in 2002 and qualified for the interest rate reduction benefit, lowering my interest rate by 1 percent. Last month I applied to have my payment lowered, based on income, it was approved. Today, I receive a very vague letter in the mail from Navient. The two sentence letter caught my eye when I read, "no longer eligible for the consolidation savings benefit because we did not receive your loan payment on time." I immediately called because in 13 years this has never occurred - never been late or missed a payment. This was confirmed by the phone rep. Navient informed me that my interest rate would be increased by 1 percent for the balance of my loan. I explained that I mailed my payment on time and I would go to the bank and get proof payment was made.

This is simply what confuses me... 1. I was told that it does not matter when my payment is post marked, they have 15 days from the day they receive my payment to process it. It is my responsibility to get my payment there a minimum of 15 days before the due date or it is considered late and 2. In thirteen years the first "late" payment (although it was not late) my punishment is not a late fee, but an increase in my interest rate. I asked for proof of this in writing, my request was ignored. I asked for a copy of my contract, denied. I truly feel like I was raped, violated, robbed!!! I did nothing wrong, have paid timely for 13 years and there is nothing I can do about this punishment! It is going to cost me thousands. I am taking this complaint as far as it can. I was sent a letter and tried to make arrangements based on the letter I received. They ask me when I can make the payment and I give them a date but they can't accept because it has to be by Friday, which is in three days (and isn't even the end of the month, which is Monday, and I'm trying to explain I can make the payment on the 4th).

I ask to talk to another representative who gets on the phone and talks to me like I'm a child, was condescending, rude, and hung up on me while I was still trying to talk. They will you to call and they'll work with you but when you do they don't even try. She also pretty much threatened me by saying they would send the account into litigation and I need to choose what's more important, then tried to say no one is putting a gun to my head (which is pretty much what you're insinuating). I couldn't make payments previously because of my job situation, then I get a new job and can make a payment in a week but they won't even try to work with me. I don't care how many times you change your name. Your account reps are rude and insensitive.

Navient threatened to garnish my wages and would NOT allow me to set up an affordable payment plan. I made my mother, uncle and grandmother information eligible so a Lady by the name of Lorry ** could verify information with them as to my financial status and maybe make a settlement with Navient. The lady Lorry was extremely RUDE and misleading and lied to me and everyone she spoke with saying we only had three settlement options for my private loan. First option, $9,000 up front to squash the loan. Second option, two $4,500 installments one month apart. Third option,(this is where is got deceiving) $4,000 down and then two years of $100 dollar payments... but she never mentioned that after the two years of $100 dollar payments every month I would still owe $8,990. She strong armed my Grandma into paying the $4,000, because Lorry told her my job was in jeopardy.

Now, I refuse to give Navient a single penny. I will not give those people another dime, let them write it off as a loss. Americans need to stand up to these terrorist organizations and show them that we will not allow this kind of trickery. We need people on our side, the law unfortunately sides with the businesses, and that must change! I would like to say what I want to do to Navient and Lorry, but that would violate the guidelines. I am contacting your office regarding an initial student loan consolidation that my loan servicer received notification on 11/14/2014, and that was completed on 01/15/2015, and then processed as an Income Driven Repayment application on 02/19/2015. Since my income was less than what I submitted at the time of the initial application, and since my 2014 Federal Income Tax Return was not available at the time, I sent proof of taxable income received in the form of current pay stubs. When the new consolidated monthly payment figure of $167.50 was sent, I requested a recalculation since the new consolidated monthly payment figure was based on income earned based on 2013's Federal Income Tax Return which reflected $12,010.00 dollars more in income than 2014's Federal Income Tax Return.

When Navient informed me they did a reallocation of my payment according to the pay stub information I provided, and that my new monthly payment starting on 08/16/2015, and ending on 07/16/2015 would now be $124.95, I was somewhat reprieved until I read the following conditions that were attached: Now since this is a request to reallocate your payment, you are still responsible to make the two monthly payments missed on your account totaling $335.76 since that was your monthly payment based upon the application we received prior to the one we just received in July 2015. When I replied back to Navient, and explained to them that I was not in agreement with paying two months of back payments since they should have calculated the new consolidated monthly payment figure correctly the first time, they stopped communicating with me.

Even more concerning is the fact that when I started the initial student loan consolidation process back on 11/14/2015, and when the consolidation was finally processed on 02/19/2015 my New Direct Consolidated Loan Balance with Navient grew by $1,823.99. When I logged in to my Navient account recently to obtain the payment address for the $124.95 monthly payment figure I agreed to, but they never acknowledged since they stopped communicating with me, I noticed a current payment due of $585.66, a past due payment of $460.71, and total loan balance that was $5,332.13 higher than the initial balance consolidated from PHEAA/AES to Navient nine months earlier.

Can you imagine that Navient's President and CEO, Jack Remondi has the audacity to say, and I quote "Helping our customers navigate the path to financial success is everything we stand for". All I can say is this country is in deep, deep trouble when our government allows companies like Navient to operate with impunity.

My daughter asked my mother (her grandmother) to co-sign for her nursing school loans. My mom being the loving, caring woman she was, co-signed for her granddaughter. My mother passed away in Feb of 2013 and my daughter has since graduated nursing school and is working at a local hospital. Being the executrix of her estate as per the will I am to sell her home and split the proceeds with my sibling. Well while getting executor papers I decided to look on my counties computers regarding my mother's estate. Much to my surprise there is a lien on mom's house to the tune of $20,000 from Sallie Mae. I immediately called Sallie Mae (Navient) to ask what was going on. I was shocked to hear that according to their terms of the contract, when either the primary or co-signer on the loan dies the entire loan becomes due immediately! Are you kidding me!

Shouldn't the loan should roll over to the primary as my daughter has a good paying job and can make her own payments. So this also means that if my daughter would have passed before my mother a 77 year old woman would be responsible to pay off this loan in one lump sum. I have called them and they said that this is how it is and we will have to just deal with it. My daughter has called them and told them that she is responsible for this loan and to put it in her name, they will not comply. They don't care. All they want is their money and now!

This loan servicer is the total scum of the earth, they are so low they can scratch a snake's belly. I am now in the process of retaining a lawyer to hopefully put these scum in their place and have them change their contract regarding (Loans to be PIF upon death of either party). I have been informed that our loans cannot be considered for disability forgiveness due to my info being primary. I asked about his income not being considered for income driven repay. I asked about how to proceed to file for other types of loan repay. I was informed to go to studentloan.gov print out the consolidation forms and fax our income information. This is based upon the backpay and ss disability being reported on our adjusted gross income and that is not current accurate income. I did so and was told I did not fill out the appropriate paperwork. I filled again for consolidation and promissory note. I did not bring our tax return over, completed the forms and faxed our income again.

The consolidation request was cancelled on Navient’s site. However I received a confirmation email requesting the income paperwork to be faxed from my fedloan.gov. I have been given information at least 3+ times regarding: Income driven repay and the 10 yr. 120 month repay and forgiveness due to my employment at a hospital. The reason for cancel was based upon income based repay is not for parent plus loans. I was given the # to the federal student aid info line to request a new promissory note be sent to me. Navient stated they would email me the consolidation paperwork to fill out again since I cannot refile for 120 day via studentloan.gov. Federal student aid info line stated they cannot send me a new promissory note.

I was also told 3+ times by Navient that a way to get around my husband’s income being included in the income contingent repay would be to file our taxes Married filing separate. I consulted our tax preparer from this last year and she stated this is riding the line of filing illegally. It can be done, but you could get caught. Ethically, it's like working under the table to avoid income taxation. I am extremely frustrated with Navient. The illegal information being given as to what to do for filing my taxes, incorrect information about which loan we would be eligible to consider, lack of knowledge and ability to serve their customers.

That was over a month ago, and nothing was fixed. By now it's been over two months since I paid my loans off over the phone but still have no confirmation because Navient still thinks I owe the $30. Since then I've made 3 payments that were made online two days before the due date but they didn't post the payment until 3 days later which resulted in yet another $34.00 late fee being assessed on the following month.

When I called all I got was the standard line "we assess the late fee on the following month", but I don't know if there is a late fee assessed until I get ready to pay. I don't like the practice and I never had that problem with Sallie Mae. If my due date is the 4th of the month and I make my online payment on the 1st or 2nd, I shouldn't have to worry about being assessed a late fee added to my next monthly payment because they take 4 days to post my payment. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! I thought I had some issues with Sallie Mae over the years, but it barely takes the cake to Navient. First, if you can EVER GET THROUGH TO SOMEONE in this place, they'll most likely be incredibly rude and give you anything BUT customer service. It's astonishing! The representatives are SO RUDE!!

I keep making payments through their online system, and they keep reversing the payments and charging me late fees. They keep blaming my bank, even though I've called my bank and they said there is nothing wrong with their end. How is it that 1/2 of my payment gets accepted and the other 1/2 gets sent back all of a sudden...which amounts to late fees and payments over the phone (direct $$ in their pocket)?? I end up on the phone to talk to someone and make a payment, then they add on a $15 fee.

So let me get this straight. You encourage people to use your online system, but when they do, you reverse payments and hit them with late fees. Or you call them to make the payment over the phone, and they charge $15 to process the payment (that they reversed in the first place). This wasn't a DECLINED PAYMENT. This was a payment, then a REVERSAL. They had their funds, then they reversed the funds to the bank.

This has not only been frustrating, but has impacted my credit with late payments, even though I make the payments. Anyone else following how incredibly awful and ridiculous their system and customer service is? I wish I could go back to Sallie Mae, or transfer elsewhere. STAY AWAY FROM THESE MONSTERS!!! THEY'RE HORRIBLE PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH!!!

If you look at your credit report it says the date that they will stop be recording so don't make another payment ever. Change your phone number and send a do-not-contact letter to Navient. By law they can no longer contact you. They will try to call you still but you will get no more mail. You send a form letter to them certified mail and you never pay ever. As soon as you pay or talk about paying with them you just added time to how long they can ruin your credit. I had most of my loans charged off except a few because they chopped it up into like 20 different loans - now it's down to 2. I complain via my credit report dispute every claim. If there's no response it goes away.

After you haven't paid for a couple years accounts will drop off. I went from 20 to 3 now to 2. They will tell you you must pay but unless they do a judgement on you. It goes away in about 7 years if they do do a judgement. 7 to 10 years bankruptcy is 10 years on your record so a judgement is the same thing except you ignore it and it goes away. Your credit during these years will be terribly but eventually you will have new credit. If everyone just didn't pay this company would be done. They bought the loans from the government. They are no longer US Loans. You do not have to pay and don't sign up for any program because that starts your 7 to 10 years over again. Don't pay, change your number and send a do-not-contact letter certified mail. Let the collectors get real jobs or go to school and see how it feels.

I was on a reduced payment plan with Sallie Mae after my divorce until I could get on my feet. In the past, Sallie Mae was always reasonable to deal with. When they changed to Navient, suddenly my payments went up and the representatives at Navient had no explanation. Being a single mother, I was barely getting by making my payments and often depended on payday loans to feed my son, which only made matters worse for me. My ex-husband left me with nothing and I ended up with some serious credit card debt, some of which was left over from our marriage. I wasn't able to make full payments and eventually fell behind.

While in the process of bankruptcy for my credit card debt and medical bills, I got very behind on my student loans and they told me there was nothing they could do to help me get back on track unless I paid the entire past due amount. If I couldn't make the monthly payments, there was no way I could pay the past due amount and still put food on the table. Navient said I had defaulted on my loans and began sending literally hundreds of identical statements to my home monthly. My mailbox was stuffed with them and they were all the same.

Every time I tried to contact them, I was lucky if I got through and when I did, I would be bounced around from person to person with no resolution. Eventually a Mr. ** began calling me and leaving threatening voice mails, making me terrified to call him back. I wanted to speak to someone else but somehow I kept getting him.

He began calling my place of employment, although I had requested him not to on multiple occasions. One day he called and spoke to my secretary and told her personal information about my debts, including asking her if he should serve me at work and asking if he should talk to her if he wanted to garnish my wages. She specifically asked him repeatedly that he not discuss personal matters with her and that he contact me on my personal number. He told her that my work number was all he had and when she gave him my personal number, he interrupted her and said he already had it.

He called back within minutes on another line and I spoke to him and again requested he not call me at work. He told me that since he called a different line, it was ok. I told him that we have multiple lines and that he knows the numbers are all for the place I work. He decided to call the owner of the company on his personal line and ask for me, which made matters worse for me at work. He also asked the secretary for our company fax number so that he could fax personal documents to my work and she refused to give it to him. She said he was so demanding, and refused to honor her request, that she was forced to hang up.

The last time I asked him to call my personal number instead of my work number, he insisted that he would call me at work if he needed to get a hold of me. I referred him to my bankruptcy attorney but since these are student loans, he said there wasn't much he can do. Basically Navient refuses to work with you and instead makes your life a living hell. If I could pay these loans off, I would. If I could even get back on track, I would. I can't believe they can get away with this.

I am actually trying to repay my loans under the category based upon my finances. Every single month my bill went up. Every single month I'd have to call and put up with the bozo that didn't have a clue about anything yet promised everything. I go to pay my bill and again the amount has been increased. I spend another hour on the phone to be told the last rep didn't input the information correctly and that's why my bill is $200 more than what I was promised the previous month. Month after month of THEM screwing up, and yet they won't give me a break because I planned for x amount of money only for them to lie again and charge me another outrageous amount. If I lied to a customer's face like they do month after month, I wouldn't have a job. Navient is a scumbag company. Don't waste your time.

I have absolutely had it with this extremely rude, uncaring monsters. They called my best friend who was living at my house at the time because, they said, her address was the same. When my friend told me I was so mad. When I called to ask them why they called her they said "well I thought maybe it was your dad's girlfriend." "Really? Why on Earth would you make an assumption like that? Is that not illegal? Is that not harassment?" "Well you need not worry about that and need to start paying your loan. Can't you ask your dad or your family or friends for help? We gave you this money when you needed it and now you have to pay it back now!"

He then said that most people make arrangements to pay back their loans right away. I said "did you go to school? I have three degrees and I paid all my loans like I was supposed to." I wanted to say so badly "I guess it didn't work out so well since you are working as a debt collector" but I didn't want to be rude. Are they really allowed to call neighbors, old employers? Are they really allowed to assume that if someone is living at the same address and they are female then they must be dating your dad? My advice is to NEVER get a loan from these people. RUN AWAY.

I called and gave the woman at Navient my credit card information and told her I wanted the extra payment to go to the principal. She said "No problem, it would go on the principal." I called 2 days later as I saw there was no payment listed so called Navient, got a man who said payment is pending on credit card and entire amount would go to principal. Got online and see where they split it as usual with part of it going to principal and part to interest. No one seems to be able to fix it.

I have nearly 100K in student loan debt with Navient, from loans that were originally taken out with Sallie Mae, and then transferred to Navient without my consent when the company split. I am currently finishing my last year and a half at Columbia University, and am in school full time pursuing a biochemistry degree, as well as working unpaid in a research laboratory for needed experience to get into grad school. I am unable to work as much as is necessary due to the 40+ hours a week that are dedicated to school and lab work, not to mention the cost of living (rent, bills, food, etc.). Last year I made under 20K, and still barely managed 5 hours of sleep a night. I called Navient to ask if they could either lower the monthly payments, postpone them until after school, or put them in forbearance for at least a few months so that I could try to find a solution.

I was told that they had no option for financial hardship, and I would either have to pay, or my account would go into default. What? Sallie Mae, as awful as they are, at least have a program for financial hardship, that allows you to put your account into forbearance for a maximum of 12 months. The woman on the phone was not only rude but then started lecturing me about how it shouldn't be so difficult to come up with the money, and that I could ask family and friends to just give it to me, and that my payment really wasn't that much anyway. I explained that my rent is $1325/month (which is cheap in NYC), and that bills, food, etc. were already over what I was making, and that I was barely able to cover the basic minimum. She said: "Well there's nothing I can do. You have to pay. I'm going to end this call now. Call us back when you have the money."

Are you kidding me? The whole point of a student loan is to enable students to get the education they need in order to get a lucrative job in the long run. I will have a doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biophysics in 5 years, with which I can get any number of high paying jobs. I have no intention of defaulting on my loans, and every intention of paying them back. How is it possible that a federally endorsed student loan company is both "unable" and unwilling to help the very students that take out the loans with setting up a payment plan that is reasonable? Do they not realize that they will lose more money by forcing students to default on their loans rather than reducing their payments to make them affordable? How is this legal?

I have been actively and aggressively trying to pay my numerous amount of student loans off each month. I have noticed that I would pay my loans on Tuesday during the morning/noon and I will receive my confirmation of payment minutes later. My issue is that for the last few payments, my account is charged an interest rate based upon my pre-payment balance for the 3-4 days after I have already made my monthly payment. Navient is thus increasing the total amount I'll end up paying over the next few years because of their delayed payment processing system. I have been paying using the same account for the past couple of years - the delay shouldn't take four days to complete the transaction. The interests rate should be frozen until a transaction is completed. I do plan on seeking legal help. Navient - unjust.

I am a mother to 2 small children, and work full time. I have been harassed by Navient, for the past few months. I've been involved in battles with some of their collectors to the point I've broken down in tears screaming at the top of my lungs begging them to stop. They have been rude, and call non-stop. They have even reached out to someone who is not my husband to his work place customer service line. Asking for me by name, which that alone is embarrassing.

When he was told that there was someone on the phone looking for me and him, he answered the phone and at that point told them to no longer contact him. Especially not at his place of work. Well they then reached out to his cell phone and even though we are not married proceeded to divulge all of my information to him. They told him I had not been making any payments on my student loan (which I had been once I found out they were due, the minimum isn't good enough for these people), and discussed it with someone who had nothing to do with my personal business.

That is embarrassing and that is not the only thing that has caused me great amounts of stress. One person laughs when I tell her what I have to say I even end it with a polite thank you, and she says "well this is going as a no contact non-compliance phone call. BYE". Then she will call only a couple hours later after I have already spoken to them. One individual threw shots at me about my choices and how can I not do this, and how can I do that. He even went as far as to tell me "I don't understand how you cannot afford to pay this" (keep in mind that ever since I found out it was behind I have struggled for the past few months to make the monthly minimum of around 250). It is supposedly 6 months behind, but I've never received any statements or emails before the phone calls started.

They claim I'm eligible for programs that would extend the loan out and add more to it over time! When I asked why couldn't the program just help me be current and stay the same with the current monthly payments? I was told that isn't the way the program works, and that the program would get me current, extend the life of the loan AND raise the payments by a little over 20 dollars every month! How is that beneficial? Then comes the badgering for your personal bank acct info. I refuse to give them any of my info so that horrible things could happen to my acct every month. I have made it a point to politely decline that, and yet they still won't stop. These people expect you not to have any sort of life besides paying these loans. They don't care what other bills you may have, or what little luxuries you may need to keep you and your family sane!

Everyday I fear my phone ringing because I know it will be them and a new pound of stress will be put onto my shoulders. It has caused some extreme anxiety and depression. Just this beginning of the month, I went to the hospital in literal fear I was having a heart attack. I thought I was dying. I felt horrible my blood pressure was high and I could not feel or move the left side of my body. That resulted in a 2 day stay in the hospital with a release diagnosis of stress, and given a prescription of antidepressant/ anxiety medication.

I am literally sick now. I have no energy and I'm always worried. I'm scared everyday I shake. I am no longer myself. Everyday is depression filled with anxiety and not being able to focus or even move along in my normal life. If I would have known back then that this would be possible I would have never even attempted to go to school and get help from student loans. If you are considering student loans think twice please, they can literally ruin your life.

I have consistently been paying my student loans every month, both federal and private. I always pay my student loans at least a week before it's done. When being switched over to Navient, I ensured that I followed their instructions and set the billing payment through my bank correctly. Address for federal - Check. Address for private - Check. Scheduled to be delivered electronically prior to the billing date - Check. All was good. I then check their website after the payment posted prior to the due date and notice that both payments were applied to my private loan and that I didn't have to pay anything for the next month. I then check my federal loans and nothing was applied.

I called them inquiring why my payments were not applied correctly. They said "oh it's a glitch within our systems and we'll get that fixed right away for you." I asked "how can I ensure this doesn't happen again next month?" They reassured me that it wouldn't happen again. What happens the next month, again the misapplied payment. I have to contact yet again for this error. They try to say I didn't have the correct address. I reconfirm again (it was correct) and ask my bank for confirmation letter stating where the payment was sent.

Navient tries to blame you or your bank for their error. There is no accountability with this company. You would think that for a company who is receiving your money would do a better job of applying the payment correctly. If I didn't pay my bills on time the consequence for me would be my credit score. What is the consequence for Navient? Nothing. When is this company and our government going to help the people they represent?

As a matter of fact, my mortgage lender has given me a modification but I still owe them 4 months which they expect me to pay up by the end of August 2015. I was told by Mr. ** and Mr. ** that I should borrow the money from friends or family members to bring up to date my account with Navient. I was also told by Mr. ** that Navient can garnish my future wages and even put a lien on my house. All of these conversations have been on the phone. They tried to give me a Mastercard or set me up for Payments to come straight out my bank but I declined because I am unemployed and all the money I make comes from art commissions for now.

I called again, to get forbearance. I, AGAIN, explained that I am still looking for work and I cannot make these payments and I NEED forbearance or else I'll fall into default on the first payment. They said they were sorry and understood and told me I could get forbearance... at a fee. That had to be paid Right there and then. I wasn't told about forbearance fees. They never contacted me for repayment plans, or when my payment time changed. I was never told about these fees. Neither Navient NOR Sallie Mae, ever talked to me unless if was to give me my FICO score or if it was time to renew loans.

I called Navient mid-May to pay my forbearance fee and bring my loan current, since I had missed two payments (April & May). During that call, I was told that I couldn't make any changes to my account until the payment posted. So I called a few days after that & the representative was still unable to assist me in making certain changes to my account, which would make my repayment plan more financially affordable. So on June 5, 2015, I called and spoke with another representative who seemed to be very knowledgeable about my loan and the different options I had to lower my monthly payment. I was told that I could enroll into a two year interest only program, which would drop my monthly payments to a reasonable amount and I agreed.

Also, during that call I asked if I was able to change the due date of my monthly payments and the representative told me to pick any date between the 1st and the 28th. At that time, I choose a due date of the 28th of every month, but it wouldn't become effective until the following month (July). No problem from me there, I could handle paying the high monthly payment one more time, so that I could have some financial relief for the next two years. So fast forward to today, July 8th, almost one month to the date of my last call, I check my account online and it shows that the full payment is due on July 15th. This is COMPLETELY WRONG, at least to my knowledge.

So once again, I call Navient and I'm told by the representative that my payment due date had not been changed and I was not eligible for the two year interest only payment program, meaning that I still would have to pay the entire monthly payment (principal and interest) on the 15th of July. I asked her to forward me to her supervisor, because I needed someone to explain to me why I wasn't informed about not being eligible for the program, and why my due date hadn't been changed, since I was reassured on the call from June that everything had been taken care of. So the supervisor tells me she didn't fully understand why I was rejected for the interest only program and why I was never contacted about it.

By now, I'm furious because she's basically telling me I'm stuck with the high monthly payment that I cannot afford, and the monthly payment due dates can only between the 1st and the 22nd of every month. Navient is the WORSE company ever and I don't trust them AT ALL. I don't believe anything that they tell me because they always go back on their word and they are ROBBING hardworking people for every penny we have. No viable solution was offered to me for the miscommunication and lack of knowledge. All she kept saying was she's sorry... I'm sorry too because someone who matters will read this post and make some good changes.

I paid on this thing for years and got the balance down to $1,800 and ran into financial issues and stopped paying in 2011. One day (about 6 months later) I get a call from my payroll department saying that a collection company that worked for Sallie Mae was garnishing my wages for the remaining amount of $1,800 which would be paid at $300 a month for 6 months. I kept in touch with the collection company and was told once the balance was paid off it would be removed from my credit etc. I never received a "paid in full" letter but took the collection rep at his word that this was resolved.

Approximately a year and a half later I receive a letter from Navient (who I've learned is a subsidiary of Sallie Mae) stating that I still owed $442. I called and spoke with a collection rep at Navient and even mailed a copy of the letter for the garnishment to them and Sallie Mae and was told that the remaining balance was for a personal loan that was done through Sallie Mae and was not part of the garnishment which makes zero sense to me. When I asked for documentation of this "personal loan" they (Navient) mailed me a copy of the top page of the contract I signed for the loan which didn't include any balance information whatsoever. So as of 2 days ago the debt still shows on my credit report now for $662 so I am going to try and get a letter from the original collection company that this was paid in full and send that to them and hope for the best. I was very clear and asked if consolidation would affect my progress towards my Public Service Loan Forgiveness (as a teacher in a title one school my loans are forgiven after 120 on-time payments of which I had already made roughly 48 payments) and I was told it was not. I did the paperwork with the customer service agent on the phone to make sure everything was done properly.

A few weeks later I get communication telling me that my loan amount did not change. When I called to ask why I was told not only do I not qualify for Pay As You Earn, but that by consolidating my loans I have voided my four previous years of on-time payment and start back at year 0 for my Public Service Loan Forgiveness. I was so shocked and I asked if there was anything that could be done to reverse this. I was apologized to a lot, however no one is sure if they can even help me. I am so angry that I did everything I was told to do and they not only didn't lower my payment, but put me in a worse position than I was before. Essentially, they lied to me and, as a result, I have to make payments for longer.

My student loans were reduced due to income. My loans over the years have gone from one group to another. They finally went to Sallie Mae and during the process of going through the process of getting reduced payments my loans ended up with Navient. They called. I explained my income and of course here I go again going through the process and paperwork for reduced payments. Here in lies the problem. Everything has to be uploaded to their website. I have tried numerous times to log in, then I get a notice saying I have to set up a pin. Ok fine did that. Now I can go in and get everything taken care of. Wrong answer. Have to wait 24-48 hours for pin to be accepted.

Guess what? 6 months later I can not use the pin, can not get my paperwork submitted, can not get my payments in. If I call I keep being told go to website. I can not understand the people I do talk to. They get rude when they are asked to do more than direct me to the website. Now between my house phones they have both numbers on Robo Call and I get anywhere from 2-3 calls a day both lines each per day with a recording to call Navient. At last count I have I think 10 different phone numbers I get calls from a computer. All it does is continue a cycle, call them back, directed to website, still issue with pin and yes I have changed it a few times to no avail. Frustrated, annoyed and getting angry. Someone please help. I am to the point I am ready to give up.

Today I called Navient to ask why my interest rate went from 5% with Sallie Mae to 6.88% with them. I have never missed a payment, my credit score is above 720 and I have not asked for a forbearance (apparently any of the three will give them permission to gouge you with the rate). The representative asked me those three questions and I had her verify that I was correct on all three with nothing changing on my side. She calmly said that it is the rate now and that it was not going to change.

She understood my frustration but could not lower my rate to the 5% and could not explain why it had increased. She did offer me their MasterCard that I can use and get monthly pennies taken off my principal through "the promise program". Disgusted, stuck with them until I pay off the debt with them and they can care less. I hate them... They are horrible and they know it. I will do everything in my power to pay it off in the next few years and start saving for my son's college education so that we can try to avoid borrowing.

She has spent countless hours on the phone trying to fix this but to no avail. I actually tried to have my address changed with an agent only to find out after speaking to another agent that she had not done this. Also, you should only have to provide the last four digits of your Social Security # and your birth date for identification. It was a big mistake to have Navient take over my loans. They do not want to understand your budget and what you can afford. The interest rate from 1% up to 5%. The payment is too high for what I earn, and only one person working in the house. I want to make payments but I need to live. I have to pay for my living expenses over student loan payment. The customer advocate depart. does not do anything but listen to what you are saying. I do not where else to get help? I absolutely hate using Navient. Since they've switched my loans from Sallie Mae to Navient there has been no help from customer service. I can only call on my lunch break (so 1 hour, Mon.-Fri.) and then on Saturday -- AND I LOVE HOW THEY'RE ONLY OPEN 4 HOURS ON SATURDAY. They are not open Sunday. Basically, they designed their departments so that the maximum amount of time will accrue before you can have anything resolved. This is meant to wear you down while your balance goes on accruing interest.

I have been trying to get in touch with the people that are supposed to make the adjustments to my account for the past 5 weeks. No success. They've added $27,000 in interest (50% of my original loan amount) and they essentially don't want to help. It's no wonder some people are just leaving the country. I'm going to start recording the conversations with the CSR -- I suggest everyone do the same. DON'T USE NAVIENT IF YOU'RE CONSIDERING A LOAN.

I paid Navient the remaining balance of my student loan on the 21st of May (over $100,000), using the wire transfer information which they provided. As soon as the SWIFT payment was made (electronically), the money was taken from my account and applied to Wells Fargo's - with whom they have their account. Incredulously, my money has vanished, as it has not been applied to my account.

I have made daily calls to Navient since, and unsurprisingly, have dealt with great incompetence from their staff. After receiving inadequate responses as to where my money could be, I was recently told by one of their employees that international transfer payments are "held for 30 days" before being applied to ones account, to ensure that the payment isn't rescinded upon.

Obviously this was an unacceptable response, especially since this was never mentioned to me when inquiring and obtaining wire transfer information from their staff. No one seems to know what they're doing or what they're talking about, and most of their employees admittedly have no idea that a 30 day hold is policy for international wire payments. Notwithstanding, I demanded that my account be settled immediately and was promised by yet another friendly, but ineffective representative that my case was being looked at by a manager and would be cleared within 48 hours, regardless of policy.

Well, it's been 72 hours, and I'm pleased to say that Navient has done nothing with my account, holding up to their incompetent and dishonest reputation, and in the meantime, my account continues to accrue daily interest. Hmm, I wonder what high interest rates Wells Fargo is gifting Navient for having my money sit in the account for 30 days.

I was told that if I paid my 'minimal' requirement consistently for 12 months, they would drop the interest rate. I did so, called back and they said they didn't have any record of this 'verbal agreement' and that they don't do that. The operator then said they can offer me that if I now paid consistently for 36 months. I asked to speak to the supervisor who then said they don't have any offers to change the interest rate. There seems to be a huge inconsistency with their internal staff and policies. This 'free for all' business practice model deserves the inevitable class action suit.

Miss Sallie Mae Navient has called me on several occasions after being told by me personally, "Do not call me anymore!" This was said in no uncertain terms. Violation of the fair trade act of this nature may seem trivial to some but when you're trying to concentrate on resolving your financial situation you don't need the additional stress from someone violating the law. This is kind of lite-weight compared to their treatment of 77 year old mother. She had co-signed a loan for my brother. The loan was paid in full. They began to call my brother some time after the loan had been paid. He had misplaced his documentation to verify this fact but shouldn't the lender have this information.

Upon realizing that they weren't going anything from my brother, they began to harass my mother. They begun to harass my mother again, I'm assuming, upon discovering that my brother is in stage four. I plan to make this treatment stop and people held responsible for their misbehavior. We can not be treated as if we were loose change. There are courts of law and procedure and they are not exempt. California is a great place for action by classes of people and has this little agency called the BCA.

I consolidated my loans with the Direct Loan Service of the Federal Department of Education. They sent my loans to Sallie Mae for servicing. Then last year in 2014, they switch my account to Navient. I am on the Income Based Repayment (IBR) plan. During their switch they sent me an email that said that I had a document for review in my account with Sallie Mae. I never saw the request and the request never said what it was for. Supposedly, it was a notice for me to reapply for the IBR payment plan. I never saw this request.

In November, I contacted Navient and asked why I never received this request. They said that they had sent it to me and now they had kicked me out of the plan even though the 12-month period was not even over. Their deadline for reapplication was the end of October. After they kicked me out of the program, they capitalized almost $7,000 worth of accrued interest into my account. I was flabbergasted. They resigned into the IBR plan in November and then refused to remove the capitalized interest.

I explained that I had never seen that request and they just said that it was my responsibility to keep on track of such things. I had been diligently paying my student loan on time and now here I was being penalized for missing the October 31 deadline by 2-weeks because I missed a noticed they sent me that never explained what it was for. This is a deviant and predatory practice that Navient and Sallie Mae employ. If I had seen a notice/email informing me that it was time to reapply for the IBR plan, I would have done it immediately.

I also was laid off in the middle of October due to a company layoff. The supervisor told me to write a letter to appeal the capitalization of almost $7,000 on to my Department of Education loans. Of course it took them no time to respond back and let me know that my appeal was denied and closed. Now, I am back in school, and I have been automatically placed on an in-school deferment even though I am on the IBR payment plan.

What they don't tell you is that even though you didn't request to go on to this in-school deferment, now that you are, once you are done with your deferment, no matter what, all the accrued interest will be capitalized on to your account even if you went back on to the IBR payment plan. This would be almost another $8,000. Oh my god. I feel like I am being raped by this predatory and deviant company. Then when I told them about it, they just said, "Oh well, after 25-years, the balance you owe will be forgiven but it will considered taxable income and you are going to have to pay taxes on it and the more interest that is capitalized the larger your loan amount will be".

For $63,000 worth of student loans that I started paying back in the beginning of 2013, I now over a little over $70,000. This number will grow to about $80,000 after I am done with school. Then I will be paying on top of that another $25,000-$30,000 worth of interest. God save us all from these predatory lenders that are using the government to rape and pillage us all.

I took out a private signature student loan with Sallie Mae a few years ago and was recently notified that Navient would begin servicing my loan. That was the beginning of all my problems. I've kept the loan in good standing and have used in an school forbearance as I have continued my education. Navient has recently sent me notification of my loan going into repayment, despite me being enrolled in school full time. Representatives of the company began contacting me about my loan balance, and I informed them of my enrollment status. The first representative I spoke with told me that although I was in school, my deferment status had ended because I exceeded the 48 month deferment timeframe.

Excuse me? Before this company took over my loan I'd never even heard of this maximum in school deferment limit. Upon asking for further clarification, the reps says, "Well it's in the contract that you signed, maybe you should read your promissory note." Is that a fact? "Can you send me a copy of that promissory note because the ORIGINAL copy that I have says no such thing!" 2 weeks later I receive an exact copy of the note and terms that I've had all along. And nowhere in the contract does it say that the forbearance period has an expiration date, only that if I'm enrolled in school, I will continue to incur interest and the in school forbearance will be applied automatically.

So I call them again. The next rep is a lot less nasty and happily pulls up the promissory note to read along with me as I read the repayment section to him, verbatim. He eventually becomes frustrated as he insists that my note states "in section 4, the 3rd paragraph... You have a maximum of 48 months to use an in school deferment... It says it right here..." "No, sir. It does not. We don't have the same document." At this point, I'm frustrated and confused. I have no idea why 6 years later, I get a random bill because I maxed out at 48 months. Well if that were the case, why didn't I receive a bill 2 years ago? Sallie Mae forgot? They changed their mind? At this point I demanded I speak with a manager. "All the supervisors are in a meeting, I can have one contact you later."

Ok. That never happened. Actually, I tried contacting MULTIPLE managers, they were always in a meeting. Finally, upon receiving a collection call a week or so later, a rep agrees to connect me to a manager and after waiting 10 LITERAL minutes, I'm able to discuss everything that's transpired with all these different agents and all their different information. The manager goes on to say "I'm not sure why the first rep told you it's in the note, and I'm not sure what document the second rep was reading because that document doesn't have your loan terms, BUT the 48 month maximum is an in house rule. It's at our discretion to send a loan into repayment."

Is that in my contract somewhere and I'm overlooking it because section 4 of the Signature Student loan promissory note CLEARLY states that as long as I'm in school, I'm not in repayment. Period. I don't see anything about the loan becoming due at the lenders discretion. Anywhere at all. "Well, it doesn't say that BUT that's the way it is." So basically, you decided to override this contract term... Because you felt like it? Ok! After I that conversation, I needed time away from Navient. I told them to stop contacting me via phone with collection efforts and after mentioning my lawyer would be sending them a complaint, he made it a point to cease the collection calls.

Fast forward to today, 3 weeks later, after a lot of thought and the decision to get this paid off and get them out of my hair ASAP, I attempt to pay any past due balance and arrange automatic payments, and I can't reach anyone. I call, and call, and call! Multiple numbers, throughout different times of the day, to no avail. Just a never ending cycle of "hello, thank you for calling Navient, please enter your information, blah blah blah blah," and the call cycles back to "hello, thank you for calling!"

How is this company still legally operating? I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. I'm over it! They presume you're ignorant and lie and bully you into paying them. And they're impossible to reach, unless they're hounding you about a random balance due! I see another HUGE class action suit in the very near future. Do NOT take out a loan or do any business with this company. You have been warned!

I have not been able to view my accounts since my Sallie Mae loans were moved to Navient. There seems to be a policy that if your account is past due, you can't have your online account restored. I call and have them process the payment over the phone and then find out that it takes 7-14 days to process the request to access my account. Thus 50% of the time the account will be passed before the 14 days are up. I can't go online to check that payments are being made correctly. I can't pay my bill online. In my line of work, it is very hard to make a call during business hours.

I have never had to work so hard to try to resolve a problem like this. Every other company I have dealt with could get a person back online within a week, typically within the phone call. I really hope this isn't a ploy by the company to create barriers so that more people are late. It would lead to more late payments and accrued interest. I really hope they find a way to make it straightforward to do the one thing I need -- to be able to go online and pay my debt each month without drama.

I recently looked at how the payments were allocated and I noticed the principal payments were not being applied, interest was being paid. I also noticed my auto payment was different than the amount on my bill. Additionally, because I had paid off a disbursement in full, my most recent bill was lower. I sent 3 separate emails to Navient via their website with no contact. I called today and was put on hold for 30 minutes while they "researched" the problem.

When the economy improved I found out they were approving new loans at 2 and 3% interest rates. I called and asked to have our interest rates reduced. They refused. My son paid for a year but then could do nothing else - live on his own, own a car, etc. The payments totaled $600. If they had reduced the interest, the payments would have been half.

In June 2013, after not paying for a year, I called them and asked if we could please work something out. They told me they could give us 1% and the payment would be $270 but would add 5 years. We were thrilled. Who cared! Unbeknownst to us, and they did not tell me on the phone, it was temporary. Probably just to get their figures up before they sold to Navient as because as soon as Navient owned the loans, it went right back to $600.

To make a long story a little shorter - Navient has been calling us 6-8 times per day and must have Googled our references because they called our references' cell phone numbers, which they did not have. Then they must have Googled my name (co-signer) because they called my new employer. I had no choice to figure something out so I called them. They would only agree to one figure and to have it automatically deducted - AND NO REDUCTION IN INTEREST RATE!! This figure throws me over my net salary and expenses but they don't care. I am near retirement age and have only ever wanted reduced interest rates - permanently. I do believe they were harassing me and my employer and our references. Big, dumb mistake signing and co-signing these loans. And bigger mistake attending a private school that pushes Sallie Mae loans. Boo to Full Sail University.

Navient claimed they notified me via email. I never received an email stating this new payment or that I needed to verify anything. They tell me I need to log in and check my account. Like who has time for that and who has almost $1000 to give you? Anyway, they told me 3 weeks ago they were refunding my money. Call them today and they hadn't even started the freaking process. I called in today, 5/20/15, to find out why they were still calling me and why when I pay my loan, it charges me double the amount. I was told that paperwork was only submitted for a few of my loans and did not qualify for all my loans. First time I have was made aware of this especially since I call everyday. Then "**" changed her name to **, then to ** when I asked to speak to a manager. Then I was told I could not submit loan repayment paperwork without bringing my account current.

I owe over $2000 dollars now and I can't pay it. The loan charges are out of control and customer service now refuses to help me without me paying to bring account current.

I had a student loan with Sallie Mae which was transferred to Navient. After explaining to them that I HAD NO MONEY TO GIVE THEM, they still didn't care. They called me 5 times a day looking for the money that I just didn't have. My college education was useless to get a job and I was barely making minimum wage at the time. I missed 8 months worth of payments because I literally could not afford them. Did they care? No. They jacked my interest up to 6.8% and told me to go ** myself.

After I finally got a decent job and made payments over the minimum every month for a year, I requested a goodwill note on my account so that my credit would go up a bit as I am trying to buy a house for my fiance and I to live in. Any luck you ask? NO. They said it wasn't their problem. These are the worst people on planet Earth. They take advantage of people who can't pay AND MAKE MONEY OFF OF IT. Should the US government be MAKING MONEY from the bad situation people are in? No. But they do it anyway. Do yourself a favor and NEVER get ANY help from the DOE or a loan with Navient. My story is almost identical to ** of Branford of Connecticut... Navient continues to report me to the credit bureaus after they charged off my account. They guaranteed that they would stop negative credit reporting and give me a 0% interest (reduced interest program) if I: 1) put $1500 down and 2) agreed to a payment plan, which I did with their collection agency. That was 2.5 years ago and 30 payments ago. I have had no late payments and have had no missed payments. I have done everything I was told to do in exchange for false promises. Navient is still making derogatory reports to the credit bureaus and they have yet to fulfill the promise of bringing me to a "current" state on my account. According to their reports, I am 19 payments late and have an amount of $2,611 past due. I have called over 30 times and have gotten nowhere.

Today, however, it was admitted to me for the first time by a Navient rep that I was indeed "misinformed" when promised to change my status to current by putting money down and agreeing to a payment plan. She said that there was a period of time when customers were told this information "erroneously." But the only thing she could do is apologize. I feel totally taken advantage of and duped. I am completely fine with paying back loans that I owe, but being lied to in order to take advantage of someone is so wrong beyond words. This needs to be brought to the public's attention immediately. This company is unethical on so many levels.

Recently Navient altered the way private and federal loans are processed, such that the payment address for the private loans was changed. As such, my February payment was misapplied to my federal loans and my account for my private loan was reflected as "past due" despite Navient having received my money in their accounts before the due date. Upon discovering this in March, I was able to correct the problem with Navient. I was assured the payment would be re-applied to the correct loan and the payment date would reflect the date on which the funds were received. In May, it appears the payment for February still had not been re-applied due to an error on the part of Navient.

By their own admission, they neglected to indicate the amount that had to be re-applied causing the request for funds to be re-applied internally to be denied. As such, my account is still considered past due. And although a second attempt to properly allocate the funds has been submitted, a consequence of this problem is that my credit record now reflects a serious delinquency of several months and a request to release of a co-signer will probably be denied because I do not have a clean record over the previous 12 months.

And this despite ALL the issues arising with Navient itself and not on my side. I make on-time payments, Navient makes mistakes, and I face the consequences. Had I been more aware of the pitfalls of student financial "aid" in the form of loans and the seriously delinquent loan management provided by Sallie Mae/Navient I would have seriously reconsidered how I financed my education. I recommend all prospective college students and their parents to look very carefully at taking out loans that will affect the financial situations of young adults for decades to come. Is it really worth it? I frequently wonder...

I get the money refunded, told the automatic debit has been reversed, and was told to call back to get back on a rate reduction program. I call and call and call. I cannot get anyone to help me. I've been on the phone with the a CSR, **, which has been on the phone with for close to hour and half. The CSR rep tried to bully me into larger payments, tell me that I would need financial information from my co-signer to apply for a new program. I told him no, that's not going to happen. He tried to bully me into getting that information. By the end of the conversation, he has enrolled me into an IBR rate reduction program which I am fearful Navient will change and continue to take more money from me than what I have authorized. For the second month in a row the auto-debit that I've had for years has failed. I changed my bank account a few months ago while in a forbearance. At the time I went to the Navient website and updated my account information. When I came out of forbearance, I watched the for the debit to happen to be sure it did. It failed. I was hit with a delinquency note on my account. I called and was treated rudely by customer service. I payed the amount due immediately but they refused to remove the delinquency note. I ended up getting a call from a person calling them self a manager; they confirmed my account, took my bank account info and confirmed it was indeed already logged in the website.

One month later, the same failure of the auto-debit occurs. I call and am told that the auto-debit is still going to the old account. I demonstrate that the correct information is on their website under my account number. The representative tells me that there is no linkage to the auto-debit process from the site account. "What?" She was completely unhelpful when I asked that she update the information while with her on the call. She told me that I had to apply for auto-debit.

"What?" She told me I was not enrolled in auto-debit. "What?" How are they hitting the wrong account with an auto-debit request if I'm not an auto-debit customer? How did I cease to be an auto-debit customer? I told her that I didn't trust Navient to have access to my bank account and that I no longer wanted to be in the auto-debit program. She told me that there was nothing she could help me with because I needed to first apply for auto-debit... "What?" After I got off the phone with this person; I immediately paid my balance. Absolutely Ridiculous!!!! I assume I'll have to have the same argument next month. Can't wait...

I've had student loans with Sallie Mae for years, six of them in total, three subsidized and three unsubsidized. Recently, these loans were switched over to Navient (thank you, Congress, for giving me this nightmare just so some Navient bigwig can make a few million bucks then send you money for your campaign). I never had a single problem with Sallie Mae. My loans were on deferment since I'm a teacher and I recently began paying off my unsubsidized (high interest -- thanks to Congress again) student loans.

I sent Navient a check for nearly $12k by mail to pay off one of the loans. Their website is confusing as to where to send checks, with multiple addresses listed where payers can send checks. Apparently, I mistakenly sent my check to their "business loans" payer address. It would have been nice if they would have had "Business Loans" above the address instead of "Send checks here:" with no description.

So what did Navient do? Instead of shredding the check, they cashed it and didn't apply it to my loans. So I called them and asked where my $12k was and the woman on the phone said that they would send a check back to me in the amount that I had sent in and that the check would take 2-3 weeks to get back to me, which is ridiculous in the first place since they shouldn't have cashed the check. In the meantime I decided to sign up for direct payment so I wouldn't have to deal with this in the future and I paid off all three of my unsubsidized loans, $12k of which was from a lower interest rate loan I took out temporarily until my check from Navient came back. I didn't want to continue accumulating interest on that $12k.

Navient then turned on my monthly payments (which I noticed on their website). They weren't supposed to do this because I'm on deferment, so I emailed them asking them to turn my deferment back on. A week or so later they turned off the payment, but they turned a different type of deferment on, which will affect my re-application for deferment next year, so I still have to call them about that.

It's now been over a month since I sent my $12k check in to Navient, the one which they cashed, and still no check in the mail, so I go onto the Navient website and see that they've applied my original $12k payment across ALL my loans (both subsidized and unsubsidized). Now if you remember, I'd already paid off my unsubsidized loans by this time. So now I have negative loan amounts due on three loans and partial repayments on the other three. I also still have an outstanding $12k loan through another company which is accruing interest on the $12k that Navient owes me, which I may never get back from Navient now that they've applied that $12k to some of my unsubsidized loans and to loans which no longer exist.

In addition to all this I have an email trail going with someone at Navient who says they can't help me until I get them a canceled check so they can track down where the money went. So I had to send a message to my bank asking for a check copy, which will take a week to get, then I can send that over to Navient. Does anyone think that Navient will be able to figure out ** they're doing once I get them the check copy? -- No. I have a feeling that I may have to take them to court. What a nightmare.

I want to be contacted by an Attorney that can sue the pants off of Navient and get my account closed in good standing. Navient should not be allowed to make agreements with people then back out of it once the customer makes the payment. I needed to borrow the thousands of dollars they required as "paid in full settlement agreement" and now I have nothing but ruined credit and nothing but lies from Navient. How can this company be allowed to treat people like this?

So I ask the rep to access the National Student Loan Database and am advised they don't access and another department validates student in-school status. So I ask for a manager who says the issue will get resolved and to look for an email because I won't receive a callback. Now I get a notification alert via email that a delinquent notice will be issued if I don't pay immediately. So I just emailed advocate@navient.com since several other customer seems to have issues with Navient customer service like me. Hopefully the issue gets resolved. We'll see how many more payments I need to make before Navient resolves this issue. Navient customer service is so bad!

I can't go into detail because of an open complaint that I filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Predatory Lending: loan practice pertaining to disability. Telephone Harassment: repeated phone calls and practices. If you have complaints about Navient, file a formal complaint with the appropriate consumer protection agencies, both state and federal agencies. The only way to stop their practices is to file a formal complaint. NOTE: Before you file a complaint review your loan application, regulatory rules/regulations and all laws, both state and federal that are pertinent to your situation and address each one. Complaints MUST be specific; generalized statements such as "they call me too much" won't cut it.

When I was contacted by a representative to consolidate my student loans. I was told that my loan of X amount would cost me over 2 time that amount after interest (pretty common sense) and by consolidation, my loans would be grouped into a flat rate slightly higher the X but without interest saving me 10's of thousands in the end. The representative had me link a credit card to automatically pull the payments when needed. What I wasn't told was once they get their money for the service fees, they would no longer pull the money to cover the student loan payment causing me to go 3 months without realizing my student loans were not being paid.

Finally after I notice this issue, I contact them to pay the missed payments, only after that I get a phone call the next day telling me I have have missed three payments (Thanks for the help). That's not even the worst part. When I review my loan summary, my loan is basically the same amount with a similar interest rate not saving me anything at the cost of a headache, denting my otherwise perfect credit, and messing up my eligibility for student loan refund credits. Still what bothers me the most is how misrepresented this consolidation service was, and I was straight up lied to about what I was getting. I will be leaving this company as soon as I can and would love to get my hands on the recording from my representative.

The servicing of my federal student loans was transferred from DLS (which may be a governmental entity) to Navient last year. Navient's website is abysmal for a customer to use. You can't designate which loan to make an extra (i.e., not required monthly payments) payment to - you have to call their unfriendly customer service staff. This can only be a mechanism to try to dupe customers into paying lower interest rate loans at the same time as high interest rate ones, rather than putting payments where any customer would obviously want to put them first.

Having student debt at really high interest rates is already frustrating enough, but then, having the loan servicer try to screw you at every opportunity (my wife's experience) just adds insult to injury. My hunch is that the federal government's contract with Navient incentivizes Navient to screw student borrowers at every opportunity. It is unconscionable and should be subject to a GAO or Congressional investigation.

I asked what interest was charged each month and she said about $30.00. I am paying $99 each month.

By this point, I was livid because I asked her why my balance was increasing, even though I was making payments. I told her the balance should be coming down by $69.00 each month if $30.00 of interest was being charged. But since the acct # was the same, the payments were being made successfully every month. It turns out they had raised my minimum which I didn't know about so every month I was getting late fees (since I set up the auto payment for 1 full yr at a time) and they started to mess around with my credit. I called them and paid up all the late fees and brought my acct to current and requested in writing that they clear up the late charges from my credit history. Their response: "Our research has concluded that the information we're reporting to the consumer reporting agencies is accurate and that no corrections are warranted."

I called and spoke with a manager and asked how can I appeal and she said it's the same steps as I had done previously by requesting in writing and the same (bunch of 4 yrs old) members of panel will review it again and most likely same decision will be made. She also mentioned that the panel looks at everything except the payment history to make the decision. WHAT??? If you're going to look at everything, then look at the payment history where in last 4 yrs I have NOT missed a single payment! I'm trying to do the right thing and been paying on the dot every month, but due to misunderstanding and/or miscommunications I was not paying enough. They should take things under considerations that hey, not everyone is perfect but we try to do the right things. This is really messing up my mortgage refi because now I can't get the lower rates as previously.

I'm wondering if I can take them to the court or at least get their names out to the public via papers to shine some light on how wonderful this company really is. Maybe it'll help someone else and will make them think twice before going with this company. I do plan on looking into some legal actions against them. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!

Thankfully I keep my receipts because if I didn't I am quite sure Navient would have refused to credit my account... This happened twice. What is going on with Navient?

I now have to keep a closer look on my account and I have to increase my payments so that I may be done with Navient once and for all. I am lucky in the sense that I have enough income to make two separate payments to my student loans a month. However, Navient's website makes it impossible to efficiently make that second payment every month. I make the minimum payment that is fixed by Navient and pay it before the due date every month. My second, additional payment is towards my loan with the highest interest rate (I have 13 loans). Instead of keeping all the information the same (i.e. monthly minimum payment due and payment due date), when I make that additional payment it pushes that one loan's due date forward, and affects the next month's minimum payment total and allocation!!!

Now this might seem like a blessing in disguise; it isn't. Because Navient doesn't recognize on their end, forward payments of loans. Every month I still owe the minimum payment due on all the loans, which I want, but my profile doesn't reflect their policies. As a result, I have to call Navient every month to correct my profile and get them to allocate the funds properly. I've been calling them well in advanced before funds are withdrawn from my bank account, in order to make sure that all balances and due dates are correct on each of my loans.

This time, the representative didn't submit my request to the processing department and my minimum monthly payment got misallocated and didn't pay one of my highest interest loan!! Now I have a headache. I do the same thing every month, you think they could create something so that I wouldn't have to watch my account like a hawk to make sure allocations are being applied properly. Isn't this why Sallie Mae split into two? So that it was easier for them to manage us borrowers?

While Navient employees are generally very pleasant on the phone, they rarely give me correct information or actually understand simple questions. After not receiving my Income-Based Repayment documents because they were only sent to me via Navient's website correspondence, I requested to have paper statements for my Department of Education loans. A month later, I never received a paper statement and when I called to inquire about this, they said my account was still set to receive email correspondence only.

I have also used Navient's in-site Email Correspondence function several times to ask questions when I was not able to call them, and I've never received an email response. When asked about this issue, the employee noted that she saw no outgoing email correspondence on my account, and offered no reasoning as why no one responds to these emails. The Navient website is exactly the same structure as the Sallie Mae site was. They simply re-skinned the site when Navient took over servicing. This email function worked perfectly fine when the company was still Sallie Mae, but now no one responds to it.

When asked about this, the Navient rep I spoke to claimed that they are a new company, that is still working out infrastructure such as this and that as a borrower, I should be patient during this time. They surely will not be patient when my loan payment is late because I can't find out what my monthly payment is, because they simply can't be bothered to send a paper statement without 5 calls from me requesting it. If Navient is not fully equipped and prepared to effectively service student loans and provide quality customer service and reliable information (as outlined in the Student Aid Bill of Rights), then they shouldn't be servicing loans at all.

The (lying) representative told me that I was eligible for the income sensitive repayment plan and that my payment would be decreased to around $320/month. Per her instructions, I faxed an income sensitive repayment application along with proof of income. They said they didn't get it. I did the same a second time, and they again said they didn't get it. Finally, I uploaded the documents on their website, and they received them. After several days, I called to see if the new payment amount would be reflected on my next bill. I was told that I was not eligible for a reduced payment because I had only 11 months left to pay on the loan. HUH? I then talked to a (lying) supervisor who said she would reduce my payment regardless of the 11 month rule. She didn't.

I then spoke with a second supervisor. He said that my application had not been processed because my 2014 W-2 form (that the first supervisor told me to submit) was insufficient proof of income. Per the second supervisor's request, I sent my two most recent earning statements. A few days later I got a letter saying I was not eligible for the reduced payment plan and a bill for $750. It has taken me 9 years to get my credit score where I need for it to be. During that 9 years, I never missed a student loan payment. Anybody who dealt with them knows their service was anything but good, and Navient is no better than its predecessor.

After many delays, I basically was told how much I owed the majority of the conversation by a rather rude, unprofessional rep, who more or less gave me the same treatment that many here also reported receiving.

I heard such things as I have enough to where I should be able to pay them, I should find a better paying job, and I'm spending too much on myself, which is hardly true. I had enough of listening to their garbage so I told them “I'd do what I can when I can” and I'm not going to beg from others as they suggested so I can pay them. I'll eventually be done with them, but dealing with horrid lenders like SM and Navient make me regret I ever bothered continuing education past HS. For something as serious as school loans, I'd think their service should be much better and more organized. As with many others, recently my student loans were "being handled" by Navient and no longer Sallie Mae. I have been on an IBR for the last two years trying to pay back my loans. This year Navient has been trying any reason to ignore my IBR. Automatically, as of January 1st, they removed my IBR and started charging me the full payback. Not more than 2 weeks into January I started to get the harassing automated messages to contact them. No mail was sent to me saying my IBR would fall off that soon. And it has not before.

They first off sent me an email for my taxes saying I would be mailed my 1098E for last year (which I never got). Next I had to search through three sections of their website to find all three parts of my IBR (separated by loan type). Next I was not able to put in my taxes until I received additional tax info from some RSUs I was awarded from my job for being there for 2 years. I cashed them out last year to ironically pay on my student loan principal. Since Morgan Stanley does not send the tax info out till mid February, I could not process my taxes until going into the end of Feb. I am not paying double taxes on my RSUs.

By the time I could file my taxes, than wait for the IRS to update my electronic records, it was the 1st week of March before I could send Navient my updated IBR info. By this time they have been taking an additional $130 auto out of my bank each month and saying I need to start paying another $400 on a Dept of Education Loan that was being sidelined due to my IBR.

On March 8th I received an email stating that "Sorry, we are behind on processing you IBR request due to increased volume. We will process it shortly and notify you when we are finished." Ironically this email (unlike any other email) went right to my spam container. As of March 27th no notification that the IBR has been processed yet. I logged into my account to find that the IBR request is still pending and they are still expecting me to pay the additional $530 next month on my already $300 payment that I normally do per month. I was able to send them an email asking why they have not processed my IBR yet. But I will only guess this will be dragged even further so they can collect even more money before the law steps in and informs them they cannot practice these predatory schemes.

I have no problem attempting to pay back my student debt. However at the same time my education was not worth this expense. If I could, I would go back and never have taken out a loan from Sallie Mae. As a student, they always hide and never wanted to talk about your "final cost". We were just promised that we would be able to find jobs in our field and be able to pay back our loans. At this rate, even under an IBR, I feel like I will never be able to pay back my student debt. And this is after going to smart route to community college for 2 years (debt-free) before moving on to a 4 year.

Was able to work out receiving my money back and there was no warning that if they didn't receive my updated application for the IBR plan they would withdraw my money again. They took out yet again the same money on the 16th. Calling to sort it out again also saying that I faxed my documents in they said they cannot refund my money because it would cause my loan to be delinquent although they already did that on the 10th.

I asked if they have received my documents. They reply that the fax number on the application was wrong. So tomorrow hopefully they will fix this. I miss Sallie Mae, even though they were a mess they weren't this bad. Terrible company, they better get their grip together. I feel bad for any ex-students lock into working with this terrible company.

In December 2014 my application for Disability was approved by Nelnet. Nelnet had sent Navient the debt in October 2014 (2 months before the deadline date of 12/1/14) then Navient began notifying me of the debt. I called Nelnet and they sent a request to Navient in January 2015 to return the debt. Navient neglected the recall and began billing me again in April 2014. Nelnet told me to get a first and last name and work email address from Navient so they could directly recall the note. Navient refused. Can I sue Navient for attempting to bill? The government is clear about it's prohibition on billing for an already discharged debt. I understand I can sue for 3 times the amount of the debt.

After successfully completing my graduate courses, I was contacted by Navient 30 days after. I was fairly compliant with the requests they made, and informed them I would have to put my loans in deferment. They informed me it would be a $50 fee for this and I successfully paid. The very next day, I received another call from Navient saying that I needed to pay $50 to put this in deferment. After explaining what happened on the day before, we both realized it was a mix up and I paid the US Dept of Education and not them. So, I informed them I was out and would call when I went home to make the payment. The lady on the line said, "Well I just need you to pay this $50 now". Then, I hung up the phone.

I received another call about 50 seconds later from my father indicating it was Navient on the line. He clicked them in and the same woman was asking my father for $50. We asked for a supervisor, and he said, "One of y'all don't have $50 to pay?" I am outraged and completely upset with Navient. It is hard enough for graduates to come to terms with the amount of money we have to pay back, let alone be harassed by workers of this company! I am not sure what type of compensation or commission they are receiving, but Navient needs to do a complete restructuring to their organization if they want a good response rate from its clients.

My student loans were previously with Sallie Mae and now have been transferred to Navient. For the past couple years my payments have not been applied correctly. The current balance stated on the website is the same as the original balance. The customer service reps are no help because they themselves don't know what's going on with the accounts. Navient needs to be held accountable for its crooked actions.

My daughter and I have experienced the same types of problems with Navient. Their collectors call us everyday and refuse to listen to what we say, rather they repeat the same thing over and over again as though they do not hear us. I'm beginning to wonder if they are even human. The main problem is that they say we owe them $106,000.00. They say we owe this despite my notifying them that these loans have been consolidated with another lender. I have faxed, emailed and mailed proof of documentation of the consolidation with the other lender. When I attempt to follow-up on whether they received the documents, they then tell me that they have never received any documents from me and further state that they have no record in their computer of ever even talking to me. This same scenario happens over and over again....like ground hog day.

What's worse is that they have included my daughter in their collection attempts and she never signed anything making her a co-borrower on these loans (I even have copies of the promissory note which Sallie Mae sent me several years ago which does not bear her signature). She is a young girl who works hard and is diligently paying her actual valid student loans but this is ruing her credit. Something really needs to be done to stop this company from continuing their unethical practices. I am an attorney and am interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit against them because I have simply had enough!

I just looked at my loans on the national student loan database. I am really upset. How is it I only had one loan with Sallie Mae for just 3,500 and now they say I owe over 24,000 dollars. I would get calls from them every two seconds. They say I am in default, but I have to make a certain payment amount to get out of default. When I call them and tell them what I can pay, they say "You can pay what we ask for." I told them I have other bills to pay. I am trying to consolidate my loans now, but Sallie Mae won't send them the information they ask for. So if they won't send it, I guess They won't get paid. When you call them or they call you they are very rude. I had to change my number because they were harassing me so much.
