So I have had several loans with Lendmark and they were paid off. Refinanced another one with no issues and had ACH setup. Well I had gotten sick and had surgery for throat cancer. While in the hospital for almost 6 plus weeks my daughter was taking care of some things for me banking important bills etc. Well she had all ACH' stopped since she did not know what bills I actually had. Evidently when this happened my payments were missed and yet I was actually only 1 1/2 months behind since the ACH's were every 2 weeks. once feeling better and then going over bills - still in hospital and couldn't really talk- I realized this wasn't paid so I reached out via the website to make payment. Surprised locked out. sent messages on-site and not return calls or anything.
So barely able to talk I called and made payment of almost 600 dollars. Deferred my upcoming payment by a month. Still going through mail and in hospital - BAM I see there was a court date notice which was in a few days. I could not go since hospital would not release me. So it was postponed all the while my account is current. Yes it was late but now current even before court date. Well I made my next payment ON TIME and still could not go through the website. So I inquired about it and was told I will reach out to corporate office on this.
Few weeks later I asked again. Oh sorry since it went into legal you cannot have access to your information. I was like what? Like all this time I even mentioned this to you back in January while bringing my account up to date and nothing said to me. So I asked about getting monthly statement balances and an invoice to pay my bill so that I am not paying the service fee of a debit card. Sorry again since it went legal Lendmark is not allowed to send out statements or invoices. WHAT ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Yet you will still take my payments each month correct?
WOW.. I get collecting a debt but that goes way too far.. So what are a consumers right being a little past due? NONE - you get to go to court - not allowed any information regarding your account so you know what you are paying and paid for. This is to me beyond illegitimate if you ask me. Well let's now go to the court with a lawyer and see what goes on from there. Just beware - DO NOT MISS A PAYMENT OR GET SERIOUSLY SICK.. They will take you to court immediately.. So beyond annoyed.

I am currently gathering people to file a class action lawsuit against Lendmark Financial! They are breaking the law! Lendmark Financial charged off my account as a loss and then are taking me to court for a inflated price, plus attorney fees once they have already received tax benefits for the charge-off! Yes, people that is against the law! Lendmark then is charging 23.99% interest on the charged-off account! They have been caught in so many lies, it's ridiculous! Once a account has been sent to collections or charged off Do Not Pay the INFLATED PRICE!!! This situation with Lendmark has caused me deep depression, stress and health issues (Severe Head Aches and heart racing).
Join my lawsuit! Know your rights and always record your phone calls and in-person sessions with them! I'm also writing the Attorney General's office. I know 3 people who have been trying to pay off loans under 5 grand for over 4 years with Lendmark. One more thing. The people are very very very rude in office. I mean they treat you horrible after you receive a loan. Everything that they do is cause for a lawsuit!!! You want to join my lawsuit?

Yikes! This place is absolutely horrible! I wouldn’t even consider them as a last resort. So, for starters, they DO explain what your rate is and how high the percentage is. The problem is, they explain it in a way that is pretty difficult to understand on paper. My loan advisor when through my terms waaay too quickly. To my fault, I was so happy to get the loan, that I ignored the fast talk. They just ramble off a bunch of numbers. They’ll tell you it’s a high interest-bearing loan, but they WON’T tell you how the interest is allocated. A lot of their customers are people who may not have the best credit and are in financial binds. Because of this, they sell you loan shark loans that take advantage of you. They do the “daily compound interest” loans. Because of this, you are getting charged interest DAILY in between your payments. They don’t just take the interest out of your payment once each month like credit unions and banks.
My monthly payment is about $230. They literally take about $120 towards interest ALONE. Oh, and do not and I repeat DO NOT make any late payments. I remember one time I was a couple weeks late and my ENTIRE PAYMENT went to interest. I had to start cheating by making 2 full payments every two weeks and even at that, they STILL take about $120 worth of interest every month! This is what really upset me! I’ve had loans before and all they want is their interest on your regular payment. Finance companies usually let you make a principal only payment on extra payments. Not Lendmark!!! They take interest on ALL payments, even the ones that aren’t due yet!
Talking on the phone is helpless. I spoke with a woman at the Tappahannock, Va location. Don’t ask to speak to a supervisor or someone from corporate. They’ll IMMEDIATLEY hit you with the “Well corporate is just going to tell you the same thing I did” or the “You should have read your contract before signing”. Not only are these things a customer doesn’t want to hear, but I honestly had no idea they were “taxing” my extra payments too! These types of finance companies should be illegal. I called the Richmond, Va (Laburnum Ave) location as well to air my grievances, but it wasn’t much better. I was promised a call back from corporate at least, without the “they’re going to say the same thing” jargon. But I have YET to get that call.
These loans are criminally high interest loans, but I had no idea they were allocation interest the way there were and I DEFINITELY didn’t know they’d hit my extra payments. No one seems to be able to get their story straight either. At the Tappahannock location, I was originally told that I can make principal only payments, but only as cash only in the store. That turned out to not be true, as I made my second payment for that month and saw on the receipt that they had STILL hit it with interest. I’m going to continue to air this company out as long as I have this loan. I feel like I should have the option to do principal only payments, especially if I was originally told I can. If you need a loan, STAY AWAY!! Go through your bank, your credit union, anything else!!! I hate that they are making so much money off of people like us in this crooked manner. They really need to crack down on companies like Lendmark, Santander, and Main One.

Cannot fully express our utter regret with choosing Lendmark Financial as our loan company. First off, we wanted an auto loan, and that would have protected us from some usury and extremely high interest. The way Lendmark gets around this is by giving a loan which we used towards a vehicle. Have a fair credit score and still got a 26.48% Annual Percentage Rate. Have made our payments on time and after almost six months of payments we have a payoff amount higher than what we bought our vehicle for. So, $124.70 has come off of our principal, the rest is towards interest. We will be upside down in this loan in no time, REGRET. STOP USURY!

They also have yet to send me all the information on the auction which is making me believe that they are playing me.

Lendmark is a predatory lender at best. I have paid on this loan for over 6 years the amount has not gone down. I have asked for all checks, that have issued in my name fearing there is fraud on my account, and just as I suspected they only provide checks totaling less than $5,000. How have I have been paying for a loan over 6 years and the total is more than what I borrowed. I informed them that I would not make another payment until they provided evidence that I borrowed more than $5,000. To date this has not been provided. They closed and open my loan, without applying any previous payments. Please stay far way from this predator!

Consumer beware! If they had a zero rating…This company takes total advantage of people in need, all with a smile all their faces as if they really want to help you. Super high interest rates, hard-sell ‘add-on’ loan insurance products that they tack onto the principal balance (though they sell them as a small monthly amount) for the total amount to be paid for the life of the loan, then charge interest on that too! You’re better off using a credit card because you’ll NEVER get a loan from them paid off. Read the fine print…Unbelievable rip-off!

ZERO STARS!!! ZEEEEROOOOO!!!! Orlando FL branch....Don't recall the lady that convinced me initially to "refinance" my loan at a lower rate for a shorter time period. I stupidly believed her convincing nothing would change in the payments and it would help me pay back the loan sooner, and signed without being more cautious knowing they already screwed my account up several times in the past. After many months of trying to get help to log on to the website/my account (they entered incorrect info for me so I can't even reset my password for over a year now), I finally today obtained a copy of my credit report showing I was refinanced with an extra year added at the same payment rate!!!!
My interest rate was to be lowered significantly and payment the same, or very near the same, to pay off sooner. But, they did the opposite. Now I'm stuck with it!!!! My loan should be extremely close to paid off, if not already paid off. I had to make the man covering for lady that suckered me (name I'm not allowed to post but he's Spanish and name starts with "L") redo my paperwork numerous times while I was in their office signing new paperwork. I obviously still missed something in only reviewing the corrected page(s) rather than entire document again when it was reprinted.
Same dude emailed my bosses email address after I spelled and said my correct email to him, emphasizing MANY times that it must go to said address only and be sure that the last word is in the email address and spelled correctly. Well, nope....my boss ripped me a new ** the next morning because he received my documents that would supposedly yet again "help me" (**-it was to defer for 3 months, adding to end of loan with interest). This guy pays no attention to anything he says/does or you do/say! I can't even believe the number of times I had to spell and say my email address and he still didn't write it completely down and almost got me fired!!! I'm so ready to never pay them again and let it demolish my credit for a while because of their incompetence and trickery.

Lendmark lied to me telling me that they would refinance my loan and it wouldn't destroy my credit but they did refinance the loan and wiped out all previous payment history that was good and on time, dropped my credit score 37 points, and when I called to ask what happened, and why did they not tell me of this effect on my credit, they hung up on me. Avoid these sharks at all costs, they are predatory lenders indeed.

Easy to get a loan, and qualified for more than other companies, but I should have known it was too good to be true. They gladly say there's 10 day grace period on payments, but call to harass you every day, and threaten garnishment. No heart for death in family, or hard times. Rude management. Be aware interest is added DAILY, and you pay it first.. They don't tell you upfront that if you pay in your grace period, your extra interest (fine?) can take your entire payment leaving you further behind. No heart at all. Predatory lender, would not recommend to an enemy.

I had a two year loan that I paid off in seven months. The account was closed and paid in full on September 1st. On September 14th an unauthorized payment was taken from my bank account after the account at Lendmark Financial was closed. On the 14th when I inquired about it for two days their representatives did not know why the payment was taken out. Then on day three explain that IT said the August 29th payment was not taken from my acc't. Now, when I called in on the first of September to pay and close my account I was given my balance and my payoff amount. I paid it off which should have included the August unpaid balance that they neglected to take out. So how in the hell 13 days after the account was paid in full and closed can they go back and take the August payment out of my bank account on Sept 14th? Never again!

Had a loan through Lendmark that was paid off completely and on time. Instead of showing on my credit report that the account was "paid off" they reported it as being "closed" which dropped my credit score by 19 points. Any loan, credit card or any type of line of credit that shows "closed" negatively impacts your credit score. No other lending company that I've researched reports this way...only Lendmark. I have filed several complaints through their website with no response. Lending companies are there to help build credit if you follow their payback guidelines. Not Lendmark! I contacted the branch in Charlotte, North Carolina on Concord Mills Blvd. I spoke to a person named Fredrika ** who initially set everything up over the phone. I went to the branch to sign the necessary papers and collect the check. When I got there, she gave me the documents to sign. She wanted me to sign up for automatic payments, which I did not want to do. She stated that’s their preferred method to collect payments. Again, I stated I did not want to do that. She seemed to have gotten an attitude about me declining and then mentioned signing for some insurance that would cover the loan if I could not pay it back. I asked her if this was free and she replied, “It comes with the loan”. I then stated, “So it’s included in the $8000 loan?”, to which she replied, “Yes”. So I foolishly signed it, not reading over it carefully. Then she gave me another document to sign that offered roadside assistance, which I also did not want.
She told me where to sign, as if it was to decline the offer, and again I signed. I took the check and copy of my contract and left, as I was in a hurry due to having business to conduct. Over the weekend, I registered my account online so I could make payments easily and I made a $450 payment, even though it wasn’t due for about 2 weeks. After registering, I noticed my principal balance was $9818, which was $1818 over the amount I borrowed. When Monday morning came, I contacted the branch to ask why my principal amount wasn’t the $8000 I borrowed. The person I spoke to said I signed up for the insurance they offered. I told her that Ms. ** told me it was free and that it came with the loan. I was then told that was incorrect. It will cost the additional $1818 over the life of the loan. I said I wanted it removed immediately.
I was then transferred to the branch manager whose name is Tiffany. She promptly removed the insurance and I was given documentation proving that. She told me what my new principal balance was, which was still $100 over the amount I borrowed, even after making the payment I made over the weekend. I asked why and she said I was also signed up for the roadside assistance program, which costs an additional $500. I told the manager that I declined that when it was offered. She said I would have to get in touch with the provider of the service to get my money back, stating they would mail me a check.
I contacted the provider and she canceled my account and is having a check mailed to me. The person who set up my account and gave me the documents to sign lied to my face, and had me signing for things she knew I did not want. What’s really sad, is that I was told this person was about to be the head of a branch and that she was in training for it. I will never deal with this person again and her blatant dishonesty reflects bad on Lendmark. I take partial blame because although I was in a hurry, I should have read over what I was about to sign carefully instead of trusting in someone’s integrity. That’s a mistake I’ll never make again.

My husband and I used Lendmark for a loan and put up the title to his truck as collateral. We just finished paying off the loan in full and they are refusing to give us the title back. The Thomasville office is closed supposedly due to COVID-19. We were routed to Tifton office and the lady was rude about it and said we just have to wait until they opened back up and let us know there was nothing we can do about it. We called corporate and the lady at corporate was even worse. She even stated none of this is their fault and they are following government rules. If closing is part of what the government said then why is Tifton open?
They lie to your face. She was extremely rude and it made my husband even more mad and he told her he was going to call his lawyer just for the simple fact of them refusing to release his title after we now have a zero balance with them. She just laughed at him and told him him “Yeah okay. You do that. I know you won’t,” and hung up the phone. I’m sick of this virus being an excuse. From what I read they are harassing people for their money, but they are refusing to do their own job. I tell the rep that payday is tomorrow and I will be making payment on one loan tomorrow and one loan on the 15th of next month. Mind you, the due date for the loan I will make payment on the 15th, is due August 21. The rep tells me that that particular account is past due 1.5 months. So I go online to pull up our account and it is actually 6 days past due. 6. She told me a month and a half. Even if I pay on the 15th of next month, it isn't even 30 days behind.
She tells me that we need to try to avoid going through the courts system and having my husband's wages garnished. The account isn't even a month past due!! So, I called back and pointed out their blatant lie. Of course that makes the rep mad, because she knew that we know she lied! That's ok, though, bc in December, we will be getting a large payout from an estate and we will be paying them off. I will tell everyone I know NOT to deal with Lendmark and will be filing a BBB complaint.

My daughter took out a loan to pay off credit card debt. Her loan was for 7500. She paid 200 dollars a month for 4 years. She ran into financial hardship and asked to company to work with her. She wrote a letter of hardship which they requested. They denied her a payment plan and began to harass her daily. They harassed her family. When we had the opportunity to talk them they were very rude and it was impossible to get a word in. They went to court and got a judgment. They have put a permanent hold on her bank account.
Any funds that go in belongs to to the lender until 7500 is paid even though she already paid 5000 to the company. The interest rate keeps ballooning and you never make progress on the loan. My daughter has no income now. She only works part time and is a caretaker for her Grandmother who has dementia. This company preys on people with bad credit. The loans they give have insane terms. Lendmark has essentially destroyed my daughter's life. Save yourself. They are cruel loan sharks. I hope this helps someone to not go through this nightmare. I should mention that Karen in the office in Virginia hung up on me twice. She never sent a notice that they were putting a permanent hold on her bank account. Where it turns nasty is when you try to make extra payments to pay off early. They turned rude and even refused to take my payment. The manager wouldn’t even return my calls. Calling their home office is no help either. In other words, they could care less about you if they aren’t making the maximum profit off of you. Stay away!!

I have been looking to consolidate a few of my debts into one payment and had received information from Lendmark. When I went into the local office here in Flowood, MS to discuss my options, the staff was nice but struggled to communicate or provide any knowledge regarding the terms of the loan. While it is advertised as an unsecured loan, they asked if I had any items of value (which they didn’t bother educating me why they wanted that information). It wasn’t until I saw the paperwork (keep in mind, without my consent) I find out they wanted to use my personal items to secure their “non-secured” loan. They also proceeded to tell me I would be required to purchase their ancillary coverage to protect my personal belongings, but have signage in multiple areas of the office stating all ancillary coverage is optional and not required on any loan.
I am fully aware their interest rates are higher due to having a more high risk clientele vs. a bank, but many fees aside from interest still couldn’t be explained. I feel extremely confident I made the right decision by not doing business with this company. Make sure you always ask questions, and don’t settle for the first option or answers that don’t make sense.

First of all, the energy was so off in this office. I can't do business with nobody where there seen to be tension, and bad energy in the room. When I first walked in there were three older ladies just sitting in the office at their desk. All three just looked up, did not say a word, no good morning, just a long stare like, "What the heck she want," I'm telling you so rude and such an unpleasant feeling like I'm bothering them. Finally, someone said, "Can I help you" with a irritated voice. The other two ladies still just looking no smile or anything. I really wanted to just turn around at this point, but I answered back saying, "I'm here to apply for a personal loan."
At this point, I really felt like I'm just wasting my own time. She begin asking questions, and if I ask her to repeat the questions she kind of just looked up like, "You need to listen. I'm not going keep repeating myself." I'm telling you guys this part before the loan was so unpleasant. I know customer service has gone way down but I cannot believe a company will allow such negative behavior from their employees. Just remember you need my business to stay in business. I was asking for a loan which I had to pay back. I wasn't in there asking for free government services. The respect was not there at all.
To make a long story short I don't recommend opening the door to even go into the office. Just go somewhere else. I have gotten loans from other companies where the staff was extremely friendly and inviting. The only reason I tried this company in the first place is because like many of us I got an offer in the mail to come in and apply. I'm not saying all branches are unpleasant with rude acting employees, but we really need to stop supporting these companies who allow their employees to behave like customers really do not matter and let's see how far they go.

Each month I was drafted so not sure how that happens. I called in each time and left a VM to contact me to straighten out the issue and twice no response.
Recently the post office accidentally sent the company a notification of a change of address in error and my statements have been sent to my daughter's house in another state. When I called the local branch no one answered (surprise) and I left a message telling them I was notifying the Better Business Bureau as well as calling the Attorney General's office to file a complaint. The next day (surprise again) the branch manager called AND left a voice mail on my phone.
I returned her call today and got a live receptionist who was snarky as heck like I had just interrupted her playing solitaire on the computer. All she did was talk over me and did not listen or hear a word I tried to say. The branch manager finally got on and had the nerve to tell me to stop yelling when I was talking in an agitated tone due to the incompetence of her receptionist.
Upon trying to give a simple suggestion that when the post office sends notice of an address change and the customer does not, pick up the phone and call the customer to verify the address change I was hung up on. I called corporate office to complain about the rudeness and it started OK but again they didn’t want to hear suggestions. I was told “each branch has over 8000 clients and to call each one was not possible”. When I asked if they get notices of address changes for each customer each month, the woman said “you are just attacking me” and to “stop yelling”. Simple common courtesy and focus on customer service would go a LONG way but they don’t have it so RUN AWAY from this company. Likes to return your payment then charge you a late fee (or say they didn’t receive a payment when you have a confirmation code and it’s withdrawn from your bank statement so they can once again charge a late fee), and over the phone payments aren’t always recorded and are very often times down. Online payments are the same way. The only way to properly pay is in person and make sure they take the money out on the spot. This place use to be amazing when it was Springleaf. Not even once did I receive a return call.
Yesterday was August 31th so I called to make the last payment. The Lendmark rep looked up the account & debited my bank account. I said "that's the last payment correct?" The rep said "No, you have a payment due in September." I say "Isn't that the payment I just made?" I'm then put on hold. I was told the computer is still showing a payment is still due on September 9th. Another rep then confirmed that was indeed the last payment. I still made my payments on time until June 2018. I was still unemployed but at age 62 I was eligible to collect Social Security so I applied for Social Security retirement. I contacted my local office of Lendmark and told them I would be late and the reasons why, but that once I received my Social Security payment, I would immediately catch up. So when I did get my payment from social security I paid Lendmark all the past due, late fees and also the next payment due.
After this I found out they reported me to the Credit Bureau and late and wrecked ny stellar credit. It went from 760 to 640 based on their one report! I called them and asked them if since I paid up everything and would not be late again, could they please help me with the credit report. The answer was a flat no! They kept telling me I deserved the bad credit because I was late. I reminded them that I kept in touch, and paid them instantly when I had the money and could they please help me with the credit report - Again a flat NO! Do not borrow from these people! After 4 and a half months and 5 separate trips to the DMV for temp. tags (had to take off work for each trip), they determined that the title had been lost (despite telling me otherwise the entire time).
Additionally, when I took out the loan, I gave Lendmark a money order for the sales tax on the vehicle. This was also lost, and they've refused to refund my money. I've had to take multiple days off work to deal with the DMV on this, and they still have admitted no fault (they still blame the post office for losing the title and money order, even though they sent it to the wrong county). They also strung me along for months, telling me the county had the paperwork in their possession and was sending it back (complete and utter lie). They also told me they left me multiple voicemails which I don't have. I'm suing them for the sales tax in small claims at this point.
So please, if you don't want to be blatantly lied to, strung along, and treated like your time is completely worthless, don't go into Lendmark. Their staff is so incompetent it's mind-blowing. All it states on this monthly statement is, "We are under construction." Really what kind of legitimate business does this? I have called and I get no answer. Has anyone else faced this. They call all the time wanting to give us more loans and are harassing even when you tell them to stop calling. WARNING: If you are thinking about getting a loan through these people run like hell!

After paying off my loan and waiting over 2 months for the title, I have to call them to ask when I will receive my title. They INSIST that the loan was not paid off. After having to speak OVER the person on the other end of the line they decide to actually hear me and come to realize that someone made a mistake on their end... Seriously, take a minute and listen to the customer before you spout off with useless information that is incorrect. I could have been understanding about a clerical error, but NOT about the customer service that jumped to conclusions without hearing what was being said. NEVER AGAIN!!! Title will be sent out via FedEX Monday. Never should have happened this way.

Lendmark Financial here in Claremont California - Branch Manager could never properly explain why even with ON TIME Payments my original loan amount never decreased. Yes, I did fall behind when I was in a bind- however, I got caught up. I told her even when I was caught up I looked at my receipt after making a payment and only $50 went to the principal and $156 went to interest. She was upset and continued to say but "when you were behind"... I said I wasn't at the time of the payment.
I spoke with her - co worker who tried to ask if "I wanted to re-finance" and if I needed some extra cash - most likely $100??? And start from scratch for a 5 year LOAN?? Really?? When the payments made NEVER go toward the principal? They are quick to send a letter to take you to court - Maybe BBB needs to realize these complaints from SPRINGLEAF/LENDMARK FINANCIAL consumers, and maybe we all should show up in court to fight these illegal practices from this company. I will NEVER use this company again.

I asked them to overnight it to me because I had been waiting for the title in order to sell the car. They waited until Monday to overnight it to me!
No sense of urgency with this company. But, they certainly want their money on time! I will never use them again!!! I even know the employees that work for the local branch I went to in Collinsville, VA. We worked together at another finance company previously. Lendmark employees went into my checking account on 3 occasions without my permission and took out money. I had them blocked at the bank and called the local office & was told by the manager she actually heard the conversation with myself & the employees. I advised that was a blatant lie & I wanted to hear the recording. Never was I allowed to. So I stopped paying until I could speak with the corp. office who has yet to respond to my calls & letter. Now I have been threatened with legal action. So guess I will be contacting myself an attorney. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

So I directly ask her if she was going to take my truck or what and would not give me a direct answer. She said that I could write them a check and it would not go through my bank until the 2nd of the next month. I told her that I did not want to do that because if they send it through it would cost me a 29 dollar overdraft fee on my account. Her response was that it was better than lawyer fees which I took as a threat. Refused to answer questions that I ask her and only want to have me listen to her and not say a word.
Then she told me that if my payment was one day late they could take my truck so I ask her if that's what they was going to do and she refused to give me a straight answer. When I called about a payoff amount, I was told that it was practically identical to my balance. In other words, for me to pay them off I have to pay off the entire balance.
Most of the time, with a loan, if you pay it off early, you aren't required to pay all of the interest that would be accrued if you paid it off for the full duration of the loan. Apparently, these people don't operate like this. Like everyone else said, they put up a good front. They seem professional and legit but these are predatory lenders who prey on people in need. Was not properly advised of what was being done. I was looking to get my current loan up to date and called to discuss my options. I was told I could get some additional money and was asked how much I wanted. I said an $1000 so they did what they had to do and called and told me I was approved. So I go to the office to sign the paperwork and had told them I was in a rush. So I was sat down and was given the paper to sign got my check and went back to my office. The next day I had the opportunity to sit down and read my terms of the loan and saw that I was being charged like $2700 more. So I said I would call them later that week.
The next few days went by and I received a letter from some insurance company and Lendmark saying that I had order this additional insurance coverage and that why was charged more for the loan. It also said I had 30 days to cancel it. I called the office and was told yeah they did add this coverage for me and I asked when was that disclosed to me. Nevertheless, I told them I wanted to cancel it and then I was told I can but I would still be charged that amount on my loan. So my choice was either give the money to some insurance company or take the additional cash for my loan. So me asking for an additional $1000 I ended up getting additional $3700 loan. To me this was a sham and I was tricked into taking out a higher loan amount than what I asked for. So now I'm thinking about filing bankruptcy because I didn't agree to this and then didn't have any way out of the dollar amount. Take my advised and stay away from this company.

I had no choice dealing with this company. I had to get a new furnace and my heating and AC company deals with this company. My original purchase was in the neighborhood of $5500, however, even though I officially owe around $4200 right now, my statement says I owe around $7600. When I called a few times to have this changed, they not only saw nothing wrong with it, they said they were 'unable' to change it. When I mentioned how this inaccurately displays on my credit report as owning more than I technically do, they didn't care.
Besides that, I have fallen behind 2 payments and have been nonstop threatened (to 'go to the attorney's office'), harassed (call taker being unpleasant, rude, and demanding), lied to (called multiple occasions and then they couldn't find a record of the conversation, was told that I would only need to pay $7.58 for the monthly payment to keep my account only 1 month behind but the following week was told that whoever I spoke to was incorrect and therefore that payment didn't mean anything, and they continued to harass me), get disturbing letters about collections when it was only a few days past due, etc... I've been late on other things and have never been treated so poorly!!
For instance, just now, I received a call from them demanding payment today. I actually believe they are putting words in my mouth. I said I would get a paycheck Feb 10th and believe I made it clear that I want to pay this bill but that I don't have the money this exact day. She said that if I didn't pay it today that it would 'go to the attorney's office'.
You know, if you want to work for collections, the best way of doing your job would be to WORK WITH your customers, not bully or harass them. I know I owe this money and I'm sorry I was unemployed for 7 months by being laid off, and I'm trying to pay it off. If I call in and WORK OUT payment arrangements, don't call me the next week with a completely different story and then throw it in my face when I can't pay it. After a few months, they filed a judgment. At court, I asked the attorney if I could settle the account again for $4,000. He told me he would take it back to the Creditor and get back to me. This is poor customer service but they have an arbitration clause in their contact to help resolve any disputes that they are clearly violating if they are taking people to civil court. Let me start off by saying that I always try to avoid predatory lending but this company puts on a good front. It looks like they are legit with a decent office and some sort of affiliation with BB&T Bank. If you can take any advice about finding a loan (no matter what your financial situation is or credit score) do not go here! They have high interest rates and constantly want to refinance your loan to trap you. After about six month of paying they will send and call with offers to get an additional amount of money so they can trap you in their predatory scheme. Then when you get too far behind they will attempt to take you to court. Falling behind 60 days is unacceptable and they will take you to court!
They completely took advantage of myself and family by taking me to court in a different state and of course winning because they knew I couldn't be present 500 miles away. I was only 60 days behind with a payment set up to draft from my bank account. They do not care! They will take full advantage of the law (that works in their favor). I had to drain my savings account to pay them off in full which brings me to another point... Good luck trying to pay them the money they took you to court for.
It took 2 weeks to pay these people because of all the crap you have to jump through just to get them money. Not to mention they will continue the legal process by freezing your bank accounts and sending garnishment letters to your employer. Luckily I had a joint savings account in a complete separate state they couldn't freeze so I could get them the money! This is a payday loan multiplied by 1000. No matter how desperate you are for money, no matter how hard times get do yourself a favor a beg on the street before going through the hell that this company will put you through. To top it all off after it was finally paid the Lendmark representative stated "do not let this discourage you from attempting to apply for a loan in the future from us". Wow! I checked my credit report and it said balance of zero. I have checked my credit report several times over the past few years and the Lendmark account for the motorcycle has been zero. Now 4-5 years later with no written letters; no phone calls, I am having my wages garnished! The original loan papers had my address and phone number as I was the primary applicant. My ex-boyfriend was co-applicant as my credit score was much high than his at the time.
When we separated, he kept the motorcycle as it was his. He made the monthly payments until I heard from you that he was behind and you needed to repossess it. When he moved, he apparently changed the account address to his new place of residence, therefore I never received any notifications. I understand I signed the paper and am responsible for the balance but where is Lendmark's responsibility in letting me know there was a balance? You had my address and phone number! My co-signer is an elderly relative who was kind enough to lend me her help and they know that if they call and say the right thing, it will scare her half to death and make her stress about it in order to receive a payment immediately. Absolutely rude and ignorant. I believe that I would rather walk than to have a vehicle financed through these idiots.

But ** and some other women at the Easton Maryland office would get ignorant and not want to take my payment. Constantly telling me I needed to pay more! I was trying at least! Today I even tried to make a $100 payment and they told me I needed to pay more and wouldn't even run my payment through my checking account! 2 weeks ago I tried to make an $80 payment and they wouldn't run it! I owe $170, if they took those 2 payments I wouldn't even be behind! Lendmark is full of crap. Tired of 15 calls a day and threatening voice mails!

If you need money go to a bank. This company is terrible. I have paid over $2000.00 on a $5200.00 loan and only 30 dollars has come off of the principal. If they call you, you better pick up right away 'cause 2 minutes later you will get calls from your relatives asking why Lendmark is calling them. When I found myself in a bind and was unable to pay on time, one of the ladies in the Columbus, Georgia branch told me that I would be sued and that 25% of my pay would be garnished. Don't fall into the trap.

I had a company named Carolina Building to build a run room onto my house in 2010. When they first contacted me about their work, they indicated that the work would be financed and the final company approving the loan was Lendmark Financial. Initially, I was given the final price for the job at $21,000.00. I received my payment notice and made the first payment and subsequent payments at $283.12 per month.
After months of on-time payments, I noticed that my balance was not reducing, so I contacted Lendmark to inquire as to why the balance was not being reduced and was told that the interest was computed daily on the loan and that my payments were being applied to the loan based on the daily interest rate. I was not made aware that the interest was computed daily until I made that call. I later began to make multiple monthly payments in an attempt to reduce the amount owed. The question that I have is how can they charge a daily interest rate on a loan? Is this legal and what are my options?

I have done Business with Lendmark for over 10 years - dozens of loans. NEVER EVER AGAIN. My husband and I were both on loan that we only owed $650 left and we got behind, they had been reaching out to my husband but not me and never ever sent a letter of demand - nothing. I have a Sheriff show up at my office going to garnish my wages. No notification nothing first...No chance to rectify the situation. They said they had left business cards 2 times at my house on door. Just found out they went to my neighbor’s house - she thought it was a solicitation. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GROUP. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES WITH EXTREMELY HIGH RATES.

I had a loan on my car, and the car got stolen. So I filed a claim with my insurance company which took 35 days before paying back the lien on the car. During that time frame, Lendmark Inc. representative called and threatened me with messages such as: taking me to the court if the payment was not received on that particular day; sending their lawyer to my house to collect their money, etc. After they got paid, Lendmark charged my account with exorbitant penalties and never notified me about any calculations. This company is not honest with their customers, can't provide good customer service over the phone at this particular location: Dundalk, Maryland. Do not make any deal at this location.

My husband's account was charged off some years ago. We waited for them to come get the truck or attempt to collect on the account. 5 years later, we called them and asked them to come get the truck and were told that they didn't want the truck. My husband asked what it would take to get the title and was told $1,100.00. We sold the truck for that amount and left messages for the manager, Chris, to call us back for 2 days. When we did get him, we were told it would be $1650.00 to get the title. I would highly recommend that you not do business with this company.

We agreed to and signed papers for the "Owner" of Home Improvement Services, Roofing and Construction at 1951 Porter Lake Drive, Ste A, Sarasota, FL 34240 back in mid 2011. Roof was installed and work performed was excellent. We quickly realized that the roofer/owner did not actually finance the loan himself as discussed but one of his "Umbrella" companies did. They were called Lendmark Financial Services out of Baltimore, Maryland. Then September 25, 2013, we received a letter informing us that "Lendmark Financial Services" which was called "Lendmark Home Improvement Lending" on this new letterhead (never before seen on any of our other bills) was now called BB&T Home Improvement Dealer Services and to send our payments to them (BB&T) at POB 44740, Baltimore Maryland 21236-6740 or overnight to 8007 Corporate Drive, Ste D, Baltimore, MD 21236, signed by a Tom Brungart VP of Operations. Phone number listed had changed from 410-238-3100 in year 2012 to 443-425-3380 or 866-374-5933 as of 9/2013.
Both Lendmark and BB&T bill statements reflect these last two phone numbers. However when called NO ONE ANSWERS!!! You receive a recorded message that BB&T Home Improvement Dealer Services was formerly Lendmark and that their hours are Monday thru Friday 9AM to 5PM and to try your call again later. I looked up BB&T Home Improvement Dealer Services and found "THE DEALERS" have their own phone number for BB&T so I called 1-888-411-2258 and after a 42 minute wait time talked to a representative who reluctantly and irritatedly looked up our loan, would not assist me as she stated "I was not on the loan" so I put my husband on the phone as she could see the data in her system with the loan and his name on it.
She demanded (now quite nasty) that he give her his SS# and he verified everything she needed to help him. However after his doing that, she then informed him he "HAD TO CALL A BONNIE ** at 770-761-0096". I called that phone number and it had been disconnected. We humans are bought and sold everyday in this Country where we supposedly have the greatest freedom and rights. No one asks us if we are OK with someone else buying our debts and becoming our personal debt collectors, so when this happens it becomes very, very scary when the people who bought you do not apparently exist or have to actually earn your business by answering their phones. BB&T is a very large company and this is inexcusable! Do not do business with them or Lendmark.

I was informed that I took a new loan out on November 19, 2008 in the amount of $1500.03, which Lendmark transferred $2668.06 of the prior loan to this amount which resulted in owing $6,667.29 with finances included. There was a billing error on THEIR part and they expect me to pay for it and they are threatening to ruin my credit report. Customer Service was inept and clueless. I asked them to send a corrected statement and that seems to be beyond their capabilities. AVOID this lender. I was forced to use them by the merchant and I will no longer be doing business with the merchant since the only choice for paying is using this third rate lender.

I bought a product from a company that provided an interest free loan for 12 months. Then I got my first bill from Lendmark. The bill reflected $5000 more than what I owe. It angered me so that I called the company I purchased from. "Yes, we have been told about this, that's just the way they do their statements," was my response from them. ?? What! My first (and Only) call to them regarding this was that they "had a right to." I started researching and found this site. I am still paying on this loan and today made a payment for 3/4 of the loan. I will be a little late w/ other bills but paying this off and ridding myself of Lendmark is in my best interest. It will be in your best interest too! Beware.

I bought a 2003 Ford Expedition on February 14, 2012 from an individual. My lender sent his lender a check by certified mail for me to buy this vehicle. The check got to the lender holding the title on a Saturday. This lender did not go to the post office to get this letter, thus, it was returned to my lender. My lender overnight FedEx the letter back to Lendmark Financial. Lendmark is holding the title for 15 days and will not release it until March 12, 2012 supposedly due to company policy. By law, I have to have some type of a registration on this vehicle within seven days. How do I register this vehicle without the title? It is now past the 30 days time period and now I will have to pay a penalty to properly register the vehicle I bought. I do not feel that I should be penalized because of somebody else's incompetence, arrogance or stupidity. I feel that my lender has followed the necessary procedures. I have done what I was necessary but Lendmark has deliberately put me in a bind on this vehicle. I can't even drive it without proper registration and now I have a payment due on a vehicle I can't drive.

Lendmark placed a deliquent status on my credit report for 200.00. This amount is what they say I owe after I filed bankruptcy. The bankruptcy was filed in 2000 and discharged in 2005. All amounts were paid. According to bankruptcy law, they cannot add anything negative about this account to my credit report because the bankruptcy law protects me from this. I have tried to explain this to them and I have also spoke with my attorney who stated that I am right they cannot do this. They will not remove this.
I was not allowed to refinance my home because of this account lowering my credit score. Their negative marks have also force me to get higher percentages on other accounts. I am in danger of loosing my home because of them.
