    The experience has been good with Caribou but when they send paperwork, it needs to be very clear on the instructions. They were not clear so I had to send three FedEx packages with different paperwork. The instruction says sign your name the same as your driver's license. I signed it the same way that I signed my driver's license. My wife and I did the same thing. It should say sign your first, middle, and last name. Nobody signs their middle name in their signature. But they said there's gotta be whatever middle name on there. I kinda knew you're not supposed to white out on documents like that, but I did and signed it. Caribou couldn't take it so the third time, we had to print it out, sign it and had it overnighted through FedEx. Other than that, the experience has been fine. I already got the approval and the process is in the very last stages.

    The interest rates and pre-approval that I was offered were really good and the application was reasonable and straightforward. The person who helped me, Bruno, was very nice and super helpful. He explained things really thoroughly to me so I fully understood the next steps, what was required of me, and why it was required. Also, he was very available so anytime that I reached out through an email or a phone call with a question, he answered super fast. The process was very quick and simple.

    After I applied, I got three different options for how I would want to move forward in terms of my monthly payments, interest rate, and term of the loan. The only place where the communication was a little confusing was when things started to transfer from Caribou to PenFed, who was the actual loan servicer. I wasn’t sure who to go to with which questions. Other than that, this was the easiest financial loan process.

    The first part, which was the sign-up process, was great and for the most part, the experience with Caribou was good. But my loan officer went on vacation and never communicated with me. So, there was a period of time that I was chasing him down. I never heard from him again, except one time. I had to contact customer service and have somebody else contact me, and I'm still waiting for my loan to fund. My new loan is supposed to be due on the 22nd of July and my old loan is due on the 18th of July, and it hasn't been paid off yet. So, I'm a little frustrated with that. I thought the process with Caribou was gonna be a lot quicker than what it ended up being.

    Signing up with Caribou was easy and straightforward, and they were not too hard to work with. The process took about two and a half weeks just to make sure a lot of the paperwork was in. The rate and terms were nice compared to a lot of the competitors out there. Caribou is fast, efficient and will get you the best deals.     I pretty much did everything online and then got to a point where Caribou called out, “Well, here's the step…” It was pretty seamless and I did it all within a couple of hours. They also sent me some stuff that I had to get notarized, and I got it so that everything's finalized and should be good to go. It was exactly what was explained to me.     There was a big lull in between the process of my refi application with Caribou. I didn’t hear from anybody and didn't know what was going on. Other than that, everything went great. I texted and they said they were still working on it. After that, we got things worked out. Communication was good whenever we talked. The process took a couple of weeks. They gave me a price for everything then the PenFed said it wouldn’t do Gap. We finally got that all straightened out. The rate I got was better than it was and I save $120.

    When I reached out to Caribou, I had a personal rep named Zed who called me every day and asked me how my day was. He actually cared. When I told him , "I don't really want to go to FedEx and do all this stuff to get this done," he said, "Dude, I get it. I wouldn't want to either. But I'd highly recommend it." His positivity was the sole reason I wanted to work with them because it felt like a company and not just like a giant conglomerate.

    Signing up was very easy. It took me only a day and a half. The biggest part was sending a picture of my mileage thing and talking to them and sending them the folders. I also had to send my pay stubs. The very last part of the process was the power of attorney, and the signatures, and I had to print those up, sign, send them a picture of it signed, and then send the printed copies through FedEx. Though the process was tedious and obnoxious, I'm confident that they have all of my stuff now, so I never have to worry about it. I've recommended them already to all my friends and I'm refinancing my girlfriend's car through them as well.

    My experience in the beginning was horrible. The person I was first with said she sent me a link but I never received it. So we were having a hard time. And she said, “Oh, once I send it, I can’t resend it to you.” That doesn't make any sense. I was like, “So how am I supposed to know what I got for my rate?" She said she could send me a screenshot. I said, “No, I do not feel comfortable you sending me a screenshot. How do I know if it's true or not? I was not satisfied with a screenshot. It just didn’t sound or look professional.

    The process was simple for somebody who's never refinanced before. Caribou took care of me. The rep did a good job of explaining and answering a lot of the questions that I had. I was impressed with the fact that the guy gave me his personal number. I had a question on a Sunday afternoon and I texted him to make sure that he would see it on Monday before I forgot.     The guy who helped me was in constant contact with me about everything. He told me how to do everything exactly. He helped me out a lot. I finished in a day or two. I got a lower rate but for a longer term length, and it ended up adding $4,000 to the total, which was over the term period.     I talked to the reps at the beginning of the process, emailed in my documents and the funding went through very quickly. They transferred the title over and everything went without a hitch. I got a 1.99% rate for a used vehicle so I cannot argue with that. They offered a longer-term for a lower payment, but I chose the shorter term for a slightly higher payment. That's the main benefit.     The initial representative was friendly and persistent.     The application process was good but the communication throughout the whole thing was not the greatest. It was very frustrating. I had a text number from the person, and so sometimes they respond, sometimes they didn't. We had a really long hold-up time. We had a couple of weeks in that I didn't necessarily hear anything, and I almost kind of decided to go with somebody else. So, it was a little bit disappointing.

    On the Caribou side, it has been good. The rate is better than what it was. So, I'm comfortable with it and glad that I followed through with it. My former loan company, last weekend, I was told by the representative through Caribou that a check was sent out. I was also told, "Don't make your payment for this month." Because I told them it's due on the 18th. And we talked about it on the 7th. I told them I'm concerned that I'll end up with fees or that it will be charged to my credit. And it was explained to me through Caribou that because the check was sent out for the payoff of the loan that even if they get it after the day that my payment is due for this month that they should backdate it to the date of the check, which made sense to me.

    So, I called Westlake and I told them to stop my auto pay and that I would check back in with them when it got closer to the date to see if the check had made it to them or not. But they gave me conflicting information and told me that I still needed to go ahead and do my payment for the 18th for this month if they didn't have the check yet. Otherwise, I would be responsible for any lack of payment, which does not make sense to me at all. I'm concerned because it's the 17th and it's due tomorrow. And I've been told two different things. But Richard and Eric helped me. A third gentleman that called took the time to call me to let me know that the check was sent out. And he was the one to tell me to hold the payment for this month. My experience with Caribou has been great. And I can always reach back out later to coordinate with my former loan company and also with my rep. I would recommend Caribou.

    Caribou was first to get through. The most difficult part was having to run around and get power of attorney signatures. And then, I had to go to a UPS to get a power of attorney signature, then I had to go find a FedEx, because Caribou works with FedEx. For the three vehicles I did, it cost me $120. I got a $50 gift card in return to try to cut me back for the 120 on the power of attorneys. So, I was still out of pocket. That was the frustrating part. The guy I was working with said I would get three different gift cards. So far, I got one for $50. So I expected more back, the way he talked.

    At times, it was difficult because I wasn’t sure when we would close. And I was supposed to miss a payment, ended up having to pay that. And I had to wait for that to be reimbursed. Everything seemed to be based on this power of attorney deal. That’s the worst part of this whole thing. Other than that, Caribou was good. The rep was very attentive.

    The Caribou representative led me to believe that payment would be taken care of, so I wouldn't necessarily have to make a payment for a particular billing cycle. When I called the financial institution, they said, “No. It doesn't work that way.” I had put a stop to my monthly payment, but then I have to go back and restart that, and the payment didn't clear for about 7 to 10 days after. So that, for me, was very misleading. I tried to call the representative back, but I never got a call back. I didn't have an issue making the payment but I was led to believe that, “Oh, we'll take care of it within a few days. Don't worry.     Caribou's process was more than I expected. I refinanced the house not too long ago and it included just a few steps, a visit here, and we were done. But this one wasn't as easy as that and it was a refinance. The problem was with the communication between me and the person that was responsible for my refinancing. He didn't make a few things clear, so I wasn't expecting to look out for certain emails. It took a day or so for me to gain full understanding the way we were communicating via text. Then, I couldn't access the emails, so we went back and forth about that a few times.

    The whole process took five days and he asked me for stuff I didn't have readily available. Most of them I found, except for my original car contract to go over my gap and if I would get a refund. I could have gone to the dealership, but I was doing this while I was traveling because I was made to believe this was a simple process and he needed everything back by Monday. So, I didn't have a chance to get to the dealership to see what the contract was and give it to them so that I could try to get credit for any gap that I'd face.

    Other than that, the rates they gave me were lower, but I noticed my credit score took a hit. It was showing 750-something on a Wells Fargo report 30 days earlier, but I noticed when I got the letter, mine was at 80-something when they did the refinance. That was a little weird, but it happens, I suppose. It's also a lot better than it was, but I should've refinanced sooner.

    I called and started corresponding with this guy named Austin through text. I explained to him that I don't have a whole lot of time and this would be great if I could get this done. He assured me that it would be a really quick and easy process. But it wasn't a quick and easy process. It turned out once I started to do the refinance, the insurance company had the wrong VIN for me. I got that fixed and then we got through some of the paperwork and it turned out my license had expired. For some reason, I couldn't renew it online. I had to make an appointment and drive two towns over to go to the DMV to do that. Then, on the last step in the process, I had to leave the house again because there were documents that I had to go drop off at FedEx.

    Between all of the fees and the extension of the time, I'm not saving a lot of money. But my goal was to get my payment down and Caribou did that.     I went through Credit Karma and MotoRefi was one of the top suggestions. So, I started with that and it went smoothly in the beginning. But there were some things that took a while and communication faltered in the middle. First, I got a phone call from someone after putting in my application and started with that person sending my information. Two or three other people called me within 24 hours about the same application and it was concerning, because I was wondering who I had been talking to. Every time I would say that so and so was handling my application, they would say that they didn’t have any notes there since I just put in the application. There needs to be something to say somebody is already working on the application so you don't alert the consumer.

    The one rep that I dealt with most of the time was bad about getting phone calls back and certain information given at the time. I hadn't made a full decision and the rep was supposed to give me a call back at a certain time. Being that our time zones are different, I expect that phone call back at least that day or within that timeframe, and I didn't receive a phone call till two days later. That happened multiple times. So it was upsetting. Especially being they've always caught me during work hours when I don't have the full time to converse over personal information. So they should have a better organization and set up for time. I was willing to change time but we never got there. But when I spoke to other people in her place, it was very straightforward and easy. So it could have been just that one person probably balancing multiple applications at the same time. Still, it’s something that needs to be looked into or worked on.

    People should know the full process ahead of time as well as every piece of paperwork they’re going to need because some things take a while. If you're going to go through the whole process, there’s a timeframe you need to get everything done and signed and sent back. So I was rushed at the end. I knew of the timeframe but I was told that it was just some paperwork I would need to sign and send back. But during that time, at the end, I needed this, that and the other. I didn't have any of that stuff available so I had to rush and find it, and call people. It was a lot to try to get in a small amount of time. Things are digital and certain things were not approved, so I had to get it another way. Everybody has different situations so that thing needs to be explained up front, from the very beginning. It would greatly help.

    The staff is pushy and unknowable. They requested that I send sensitive documents in unsecured methods and were deliberately unforthcoming when discussing GAP, the necessity of GAP with low LTV, and attempted to justify it being outrageously overpriced. Would not recommend to anyone. Go to your local bank or credit union and just do it yourself. It's easier, cheaper, and most importantly safer!

    The lady that I dealt with was very thorough and I was very pleased with how quickly MotoRefi moved. It took one afternoon and a little bit of the next morning but that was because I had to make sure I was getting the documents properly signed or notarized and back in the mail.
