I waited patiently for three long months for the return of a $1,200 security deposit from my former landlord, a real estate agent who also owns a fairly large apartment complex with his son, and they together also own an air conditioning business. I am pretty sure the two $600 checks they wrote me were legitimate, albeit late. California Check Cashing declined the transaction, with no rational explanation. Wasted 30 minutes of my time. They never asked me any questions that I might help clarify any misinformation on their part. I was humiliated like some sort of fraudster.
I have an online bank, and I have not made remote deposits before, so my usual method of making a deposit was to get the cash and make the transaction through a Green Dot transaction at the register at Rite-Aid up the road. Am pretty ticked off. Three months was a long time to wait, my account is depleted, it is only days after Christmas (expenditures) and a week before all my bills are due. But sure... I have "faith" it's all going to work out with little or no effort on my part, and I'll be able to pay my bills and sustain my credit.
Not only I but my daughter as well have been treated like criminals in different occasions. Corporate office staff are disrespectful and rude. If they could eat you alive through the phone I'm sure they probably would. When the check cashing staff make a mistake and they know that they're going to get in deep poop trouble for it these people have no remorse. California Check Cashing will go as far as calling the numbers that we give them for reference and not respect consumers' privacy. We've been harassed, falsely accused. California Check Cashing (San Jose, Ca) will go as far as bullying. I will never ever return. They need to be shut down. Western Union needs to stop doing business with them.

Every time I go to California Check Cashing to cash my check(s) no problem. Great, excellent service! On the down EVERY TIME I go there for Western Union. Before I can fill out the form the associate behind the counter stops me and tells me Western Union is down. **! SHE is lazy and inconsiderate and doesn't take her job seriously! Sum it all up to one word LIAR! This gal has no problem sending customers away. She is not a asset to the company. Western Union stands for their reputation "THE POWER TO MOVE MONEY". California Check Cashing needs to fix their Western Union because according to WESTERN UNION their services were not "DOWN".
I took out a payday loan and it took them 11 days to cash my check making me unable to take out another payday loan when I really needed to. The employee's response that they're having problems with their system does not explain why they took so long. When I called the stores days earlier asking why my check hadn't been cashed, the same employee explained that they were giving their customers more time to pay back their loans, which would have been fine if I was able to take out another loan before then.
This company wrote two checks in my name and cashed them. When I called the store they gave me their corporate number. I wanted to touch bases with them to fix the situation before making a police report. The lady in the store was nice but when I called corporate the lady laughed and said, "Let me transfer you to our IT dept" and then hung up on me. I have the check images and they are not my checks. And on it says "Your customer has preapproved and authorized this check." I have done no such thing. I will be contacting and making a police report, contacting my bank again, and finding out if there is anyone else I can contact.
On March 3rd I paid advance loan, that loan was taken out on Feb 1st. The store I paid it at, has verified to corporate office that I did pay it. Check was sent to my bank, and I was charged overdraft fee. I received a call today, Tom was very rude. I called corporate office, spoke to a supervisor, rude as well. I am being harassed with phone calls, however they say it is not harassment because I owe the money. I am on social security disability and can not deal with stress. Countless calls have been made to them and problem still not resolved.
Male named david from corporate office/customer service contacted me about my loan since I had dealt with a disrespectful, rude, liar, unprofessional male by the name of juan that called first but treated me like a criminal. Cut me off when I spoke or mentioned to work with me so I could try to pay back their loan only to turn out the same way like juan. Poor attitude and demanding!!! Yet david is supposed to be in a higher position than juan?!? This company trains their staff in a very unprofessional way. All these clowns over the phone will not let you speak and wont care what you have to say. If their service was much better maybe a lot of customers that owe back money would want to pay back but when you have ignorant staff working for your company people will just blow you all away just as you guys do to customers!!!
I am doing all in my power to make sure this david gets chewed out. He was yelling at me (screaming at me over the phone then laughed and proceeded to say I was the problem why juan couldn't helped me and talked all over me while I spoke. He also threaten me with calling legal enforcement on me if I called back and hung up on me and said he wasn't going to help me and was going to send my file to collections. I am filing all kinds of lawsuits on his ** now because I know what you can and can't say to customers. I worked for a collection agency and I'm glad I will get his ** off this company soon!!!
Morons like david that works who knows where but attends the greater sacramento california cash checking stores customer service is the worst person I have ever dealt with. I will never do business with this company again!!! I will inform all my friends and associates about this matter as well as family and you will lose a lot of potential customers. I will post his name in any consumer affair websites and I will also be contacted headquarters about this matter. I will also investigate what is legal and pursue this case with the law and make sure they know he threaten me!
After seeing many complaints online about this company I know many people have gone through this and I will not be just any regular victim here that does nothing. I want justice and I hope headquarters address this matter immediately and investigates him asap. He is bringing your business down with his poor attitude and I will wait to deal with collections to pay back my past due loan and I know they will work with me. I didn't hear a automated system saying calls were being recorded so I will also investigate on that. Maybe that's why this idiot wasn't afraid to yell at me and curse at me like he DID. Also threatening me to call law enforcement. I called back, well who else am I suppose to pay my loan??? He is forcing me to deal with collections legally!!! I've been a customer with CCCS for over 4 years and the contact I had with your office has been rude, disrespectful, and downright unprofessional. I had a misfortune of my monetary circumstances and was left with no option but to pay my 300.00 loan on an installment plan since my social security monthly payment has been temporarily reduced due to an overpayment over a period of time, this was done without warning.
I talked to a member of your staff via phone when I was at the Tennyson store in Hayward Ca. and he yelled at me and threatened me with all kinds of outrageous sanctions as I was attempting to pay my bill or loan in the best manner I could at the moment. This gentleman was unfair and unscrupulous with his outlandish remarks as he tried to make me pay additional fees and rewrite my loan and I tried to explain to him that this was against the law and offered to fax him the facts on this matter.
I only hope that you would put people in these positions who are more accustomed to customer service or drop that title from your corporate ID. He refused to take my money and rudely hung up the phone on me and tried to put words in my mouth that I refused to pay my loan and that is utterly hogwash. I don't know how I am supposed to pay my loan under these circumstances. I want to thank you for helping out a loyal customer in advance and let me pay my loan. I can pay this in a few installments or I can save it up and mail it to your corporate office.
California check Cashing took a $160 Western Union payment to a biller. That biller is PG&E, my utility company. I was charged $1.50 for the transaction service charge. This transaction took place on June 2, 2014. I received a receipt and a printed screen shot from the representatives computer screen as my receipts. I checked the receipt and it had the correct PG&E account number. Then I received a letter from my PG&E office on June 11, 2014 advising 15 day notice to pay.
In conversation with my biller, I realized they paid the $160 to a non existent account to my biller. This information was reflected on the printed screen shot receipt. I contacted California Check Cashing and they have not located the money as of yet and my bill is still not paid and it is June 12, 2014, end of business day. My biller has not received any monies for over ten days. I was in a payment plan with my biller which is voided now.
Incident occurred 2/20/14 approximately 12:30pm. I purchased a van from a co-worker, she took the check I wrote her to this place. The worker Melanie or Alini called me with only her name. I had to ask what company she was with. She asked me to call my bank on 3-way to verify I had enough to cover the check. To me that's a red flag because my own mother doesn't know my account amounts. Because I have the van and title I want to make it as painless to my co-worker as possible, so I called my bank Wells Fargo on a conference call with the clerk; the other workers in the clerk's office were loudly laughing and playing.
I asked my bank the balance of my checking account, there was 3-times as much as the check. The check cashing clerk interrupted the call taking over the conversation repeating the same question as mine. After the banker read a 3rd party disclosure & verified her identity, the clerk only gave her first name (ironically, now the clerk respects privacy after she's in my account), the banker verified my account number on the check and the amount in my account. We ended the call, clerk said thank you. I get a call from my co-worker 20 minutes later stating the clerk refused her check I wrote because she had to verify my check further, however, the clerk didn't keep the check to verify.
My co-worker heard her verify my account and the clerk stated she verified my account amount. My co-worker came back to work from break late and angry, with the check I wrote. The clerk gave my co-worker no exact reason yet said it was not personal. My co-worker uses this place for her payroll checks in the past. My co-worker is of African descent, given there were no other blacks in the office, the lame excuse, the reason narrows down to discrimination or the company just invaded my account for future fraud. I will have my attorney friend investigate how many people in the same position (verified account & ID) were treated differently then we will pursue discrimination charges.
