My experience with BOA was horrible. Their online system has a lot of glitches which affects how we pay, this results in late fees even though it’s THEIR system and they admit fault. Their customer service is terrible too.

I was still trying out B of A. I already have too many apps & I just wanted to bank online through Google. I went to the credit card site & was told I couldn’t make a payment & had to go to the online banking page to enroll in “Bill Pay” (stupid) but it didn’t provide that info. I had to try a few times to get to the specific “secret” page. I pressed the link to pay but it directed me to a, “no longer in use” page. I found another possible page but was locked out after only 2 tries so I called customer service in the middle of the day & was told, they were experiencing a high volume of calls. All the while, I am trying to pay my bill I am constantly being told to DOWNLOAD APP. I see why they have such a low rating. I give up on try to pay my bill online without using the app. I will get the $300 reward for charging $1K, cancel & move on. With all the competition out there why the heck would you make it so hard for someone to just pay their bill.

My new car is financed thru Bank of America. Darn near impossible to open an online account. The app is just as bad. After giving my loan account number and social security number I get the message "Online banking is not available to you at this time". Was directed to call 800 number. I've either been disconnected after being on hold for 10 minutes or longer or never receive call back. At this point I'm just going to head to a local branch and tell them to set it up.

I waited on the phone for 1 hour and 15 minutes to talk to a customer service rep just to get help with the mobile account. This was AFTER going to the bank to seek assistance. This Bank is absolutely Horrible!!! They need to revamp the entire customer service department. Most major companies at least give you the option to leave your number for a callback…. But not this bank. I am going tomorrow to withdrawal all my money from this institution.

I had been a customer from 1986 until 2025 They decided they needed to update my information. So they closed my accounts until it was done blaming me saying they could not reach me. Although I’m on their app daily. I found out my accounts were closed when I tried to make a purchase. So much for customer loyalty!!

I only had CDs with them which I opened online and it took them 2 weeks to locate the funds that was 2 years ago so this year I decided to close those CD- it took them forever to process this request - I never dealt with such employees - as someone already said you feel like you in the Walmart not in the biggest bank... They need to do more training and invest in technology.

Bank of America services has totally went down the drain!! I deposit my check through the mobile app and it tells me my funds are not available for 6 days.😡 Went to the branch and called Customer service, nothing they can do about it and now I have a bill that has to be paid and they will not give me any emergency funding of the money I put in my account!! The check cleared 24 hours ago and no money!! This bank is worst than Wells Fargo!! I will be closing my account ASAP. 1 out of 5 stars. They need to all close down. Customer service was no help at all. She just reading her script and saying I agree.🤷🏾♀️ Worst bank ever.

Impossible to log into online banking. Required authorization codes are not sent, either by text or email. Calling customer service means listening to music and ads. ALL OTHER MEANS TO CONTACT BofA REQUIRE THAT YOU LOG IN FIRST!?!? WHAT MORONIC, IMBECILE DESIGNS SUCH AN INSANE SYSTEM???? Phone, email, and authorization codes for other accounts work fine, so the problem is definitely with BofA. I live off the grid and access my accounts about once a week and have limited online time So this kind of IDIOCY from BofA is a real pain in the **.

I have an account w/ Bank of America in Chico, Ca & they told me that they were going to close out my account. They said I made too many "claims". Long story short, that was a month & a half ago. I am on SSDI. My check for June mistakenly got deposited into the BofA account & they are still as of today 06/05/2024 refusing to give me my check & I also have over $600 on top of my $1189 SSDI check. Due to the fact that BofA refused to give me my check I am not able to pay my rent & I'm getting charged a $75 late fee which I cannot afford. There is absolutely nothing pending. I do not understand why they are doing this to me. I am a 67 year old disabled woman. & I do not know what to do or who can help me.
They told me last week that they would be closing the account & releasing my money by June 5,2024. I have absolutely no money, hardly any food & I am just sick to my stomach. This is so wrong. The bank branch manager Elaina is a very nice lady though she told me she does not understand why they are doing this to me. All I have to my name is a jar with about $10 worth of pennies. I don't know what I'm going to do. I went into the Social Security office & they told me it was a mistake on their part but that there is nothing they can do. My PG&E is also going to get shut off in 2 days also. I do hope that by reading my review that I can save somebody from going through the nightmare that Bank of America is putting me through.

I have been a personal banking customer for 5 years with BOA. I opened a business account online with Bank of America. I had to submit a verification of address before my application was approved. I received ATM cards in the mail. Few weeks later I couldn't log into my online banking portal, only to realize that the account was closed because my identity could not be verified. Meanwhile, no one reached out to me or emailed me to provide proof of my identity. I only received a letter in the mail regarding the closure. I called customer service and the agent sounded so robotic and non sympathetic. He also had no clue as to the reason for the account closure and made no efforts to research! I'm disappointed in BOA but I'm just glad this happened now than later.

Please get out of this bank. They bounce checks over 200.00 at their discretion for "possible fraud". If you accidentally Overdrawn your account, do not pay your creditor another way. BOA will auto try three times through bill pay which you cannot stop. Good luck trying to close the account. When a check comes in they think is fraud, don't bother calling the check fraud department either. I verbally proved it was me by answering their questions. Then advised boa to not resubmit the check because I paid them with my new checking account from my new bank. Did they listen, nope. Wrote numerous emails, messages, to Jolly Oneill. The million dollar making CEO of customer service. She never responded. This bank doesn't care about the customers. They were fined for double-charging customers founle fees!!! They still are committing illegal practices.
64 Calls and my issues are still not corrected. I have a restriction on my checking. Deposits only!!! Boa since I placed the restriction has put through withdrawals anyway. They take my money and will not reverse it. I went to corporate, they seem to try but this is an unnecessary step. It's a violation to my life. This has been going on since October. Jan 2 is the last time a direct deposit will go through. Don't let them lie to you. It's not the merchant retrying the payment, it's boa bill pay. Even though I took boa ofc my creditors and changed it to my new bank, boa is still taking money from me. Get out. They all should be fired. Please, I beg you write complaints to ftc, consumer affairs, and cfpb. Consumer financial protection bureau. Keep writing, I want boa to pay billions to customer's accounts. There is also another federal agency that oversees everything to do with banks. Please send a complaint online, please!!!

Please don't even speak of security when you are a white collar criminal. I'm very glad that it came to an end but it only ending soon in 2024 because they ate all the freakin' pie and now wants to walk away > and slowly erase their trail.
I was a client that had my account closed after they sabotaged my business account with overdraft fees when I didn't have no overdraft protect for the account. Morever, my account didn't have any money and were attack on a daily basis with overdraft fees. Although, I was compensate just a portion of the damage in the class action or nothing but account was never reopened with good standing like it was supposed be even after judge ruled in our flavor! I opened an account online at Bank of America and it was relatively easy until they closed it 3 1/2 weeks later, just as my direct deposit was going in. Direct Deposit was rejected but not back to employer account yet. I went to an ATM (M&T Bank) in the Chesapeake Exxon in Annapolis, MD to withdrawal money to pay for tires that I needed to make it home from the doctors. Every time I tried to withdrawal the funds it was declined due to an “ERROR CODE = 3-DA001(10). I tried three separate times, all three were declined with receipts stating $0.00 dispensed $400.00 Requested. I contacted the number on the ATM who told me I would need to contact my bank (Bank of America) because it was a terminal error. Last night (6/21/23), I spoke to a representative from my bank who stated that because it was still processing to call back this morning. I called my bank (Bank of America) this morning stating what happened and the receipts I have showing $0.00 was dispensed and they stated that they would have to do an investigation because on their end it states the funds were dispersed even though the receipts state $0.00 was dispensed.
I even explained what the gentleman I spoke to yesterday told me and they were beyond rude and said I would have to wait 10 business days for an investigation to get my money. I am disabled and receive SSDI each month. This leaves me without the money to get my prescriptions. They didn’t even ask to see or send them the receipts I have. Both the rude representative I spoke to this morning and his “manager,” stated there is nothing they can do. I want and need my funds returned immediately. I don’t have the luxury of waiting 10-12 business days for my $417 to be held. I will be pursuing every avenue possible for something to be done regarding these crooked banks and what they put their vulnerable customers through. This is wrong and crooked in every way possible. Please heed my advice and do not bank with them. I promise that you won’t regret it.

My card was comprised for a few fraudulent transactions. I requested a new card and reported these transactions. The new card didn’t come in the mail as of yet, which I was waiting for already 2 weeks after, and they let another fraudulent merchant go into my account and dismantle it over 2,483 dollars! I reported this immediately. No one contacted me and my account was in the negative for over 1119.43$ for over 3 weeks. I don’t have over draft protection, and was waiting for a new card to arrive that didn’t arrive, when this transaction occurred. Since I don’t have overdraft protection, they should have kicked this charge back like they do every other charge when I’m at least a dollar less in my account for a charge! They decided to keep the fraudulent charge on my account for over 3 weeks. Only reason why it’s not in the negative now is because of my direct deposits that I didn’t see an inch of it for over a month.
The bank lied to me and states I have recurring charges with this fraudulent merchant. I’m waiting for a new debit card that has not arrived in the mail as of yet, but recurring charges shouldn’t be “recurring “ if my new card hasn’t arrived yet? It is not up to the bank to update any card for recurring charges without the customer knowing about it. They’re taking almost a month to investigate, going over and not following rules and regulations for a 10 day investigation. It’s almost a month of investigation. That’s not what was told to me through 5 different representatives.
Now I’m 2,483 short after having direct deposit with this bank from a job I work 6 days a week at, which is two checks In the hole and the bank does not want to give me my money back. I’ve called the FDIC to file a complaint on this bank as well as the Comp control office and am waiting patiently for my attorney to provide me with the appointment date. I’ve stopped all business with this bank and if I were you, I would do the same. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH BANK OF AMERICA!!!! I have an appointment with consumer affairs to get this whole thing investigated as well as the “higher ups” in the “back office” whom are the ones calling the “shots” about this matter. Every representative had a different story and time frame for me of when this will get situated. We have a serious problem and I will go all the way for my innocence. This needed to be documented and revealed for any future discrepancies.

I opened a business account under my business name and EIN in February 2022. I used Bank of America because I had a prepaid account and it seemed like an okay bank. However with a prepaid account I can only use the ATM or call. I cannot go into the branch for any transactions. When I opened a business account online they also sent me a business credit card. I never applied for that. I called and asked is this is the process to just send over credits cards when someone request a business account. The representative didn't have an answer for me but to say, "You requested it." I never gave permission to run my credit so I never applied for the card. The phone representative indicated it's my business bank account credit card. My prepaid and business accounts were never merged.
One month later the business credit card declines when I attempt to use it. I called BOA the phone representative said they FORCED closed it. I never received any paper work such as a bill for this forced closed credit card. Fast forward 3 months later I receive a call from the fraudulent department about transactions on the business bank credit card. I admit to one transaction and ask to pay it. The representative at the time allowed me to make a payment towards the balance. When I called 30 days later to make the final payment I was told I cannot make a payment on a closed card. I have never received a bill but how when the card is closed. I understood but I needed to make the payment. Bank of America went into my personal pre paid account under my social and withdrew money for a business credit card balance opened with my EIN number.
When I made a complaint to BBB - Cindy ** and her associate Sandra ** Senior Operations Support Specialist refused to reply to the BBB and indicated they sent a letter of resolution. I never came to an agreement. They never address the fraudulent activity from day one of opening that account. They didn't address connecting 2 accounts under two different names without permission. They sent a letter in the mail that stated - I suggest you make sure your bills are paid because the account is overdrawn. The email sent by Cindy said the same thing. WOW My pre paid BOA account was left overdrawn by BOA. Crappy company. The business account was garbage from day 1. I closed my business account.. customer service a waste of time. This may be a start of identity theft. Be careful with this Bank. BE CAREFUL.
