I've had nothing but problems with the website & APP. I recently was forced to make my payment using their automated phone payment system. It looked like it worked. I even got emails thanking me for my payment. Then two weeks later I got a late payment collection call from them. Three hours later (mostly on hold & after getting disconnected twice) I demanded to speak with a supervisor & I think I've resolved the problem, hopefully with no late fee. We shall see. I told them to put me back on snail mail paper billing & I'll write them checks until my balance is paid off...then, it's goodbye BOA!!

This all start when I checked my account in my phone app and found several debit holds on my checking account with no vendor names attached to them. I called the number on the bottom of the app for fraud in hopes of finding out what was going on. The first CSR I got said that she could not tell me why but the holds were put in place by BOA itself. She then transferred my to another CSR. An auto reply asked if I had gotten a letter and if not put my social in and wait for a person to answer. When I finally got a human we went through everything to prove I was who I said I was. But she said that she could give me any info on the account and it had been frozen due to him husband also being on the account and the freezing of the account pertained to him. My husband has not used this account in over 15 years but for some reason BOA took it upon themselves to supposedly send him a letter to update his personal information.
Of course neither of us have seen this letter and the only money on this account is my paycheck. But according to the CSR I had no say over anything to do with the account. They said unless he called within 72 hours it would remain frozen till he did so. When I arrived home I dialed the number I was given and listened to the conversation on speaker phone. They proceeded to ask for name address origin of country occupation and social. For that small amount of info they froze the account and blocked me out of having any say about my money period.
After remaining quiet while the woman went through theses trivial questions I made myself known and asked if why this account was in both our names. I wasn’t asked for updated information or even told why I couldn’t access my account for such a small stupid reason. Come today or tomorrow my husband is removing himself from this account and once I get and withdraw our direct deposits squared away si another bank I will be taking MY money and closing the account with Bank Of America. I’m sure they are too big to care but hopefully this story will some other person they feel the need to prey on.

When I opened a secured credit card in Bank of America Walnut Creek, California branch (North Main Street, 94596), the manager told me that in a few months, I will graduate from secured to unsecured and my credit limit will increase from $300. I was also advised to use my credit card and make purchases. I did. I also paid full credit amount on time all the time. However, after seven months, I called and requested an increase and was declined. They made my credit card unsecured but it was a joke because the limit was still $300. I tried again 10 months later and was declined again.
Moreover, TransUnion told me what I've been advised was wrong because I should only use up to 30 percent of credit limit as I was going for 100 percent pay it in full and purchase again and this was never explained to me by BoA. They never cared that it would affect my credit score. How difficult would it have been to explain that I should only use up to 30% of my credit limit as it would affect my score? Anyhow, I decided to close both my checking and credit cards because I was pissed. I tried to reach another Walnut Creek manager by email, also by phone, complained on their Customer Service, even went to one of their branches - the one in San Ramon, CA and all to no avail. They did not increase my limit.

On a scale of 1-10, giving their customer service and client relations team a 1 would be generous. I was put on a "brief 1-2 minute hold" which in reality was about 15 minutes. After approximately 5 hours on the phone, I was told by a manager that there was nothing they could do for me. The worst part was the manager asked to call me back with more information. When I received the call back, he left me a 15 second voicemail asking to call him back at the 1-800 number. It took me another 20 minute call just to track him down again to hear he couldn't help me.

Somehow Bank of America processes all the EDD Cards for the United States after being one of the companies that stole billions from its citizens. As if that wasn't bad enough they still try to rob you anyway they can. I never received my EDD card so after waiting almost 3 weeks they finally told me that the card was never sent so I would have to pay $10 to get a replacement card for a card I never received in the first place. Then I used a Bank of America ATM machine to withdraw money from the card and the keypad doesn't work and the machine ate my card.
The lady behind told me that she never uses the Bank of America ATM's for her EDD card because it only eats EDD cards. That seems odd, why only EDD cards I thought? Then I called to the number on the ATM to get my card back and was told that I had to order another card because even though they are BofA cards they are not considered BofA cards and they shred them. So I have to order a new card and pay another $10. ** Scam, How anyone does business with BofA is beyond me, and how the government forces people to do business with those criminals absolutely infuriates me.

Recently went into the branch to see a customer relationship manager about changing my address. However, the lady at the reception (can't remember her name) would not let me see a relationship manager unless I also wanted another credit card. This made me very frustrated - so I can't see anyone unless I open a new account now? I told her I'd like to speak to someone, and she kept insisting I go online and she'd only get someone if I wanted to open a new account, otherwise I can just go online. Very disappointed with this customer service.

I never write reviews but, I'm beyond upset with Bank of America. I filed a dispute for $505. I was told I have to wait 45 days for my claim to be reviewed. I couldn't wait so I asked for a credit. They told me I couldn't since I was new member. Since they couldn't I contacted the merchant and the merchant gave me a refund. The merchant stated I would get the refund between 3-5 business days. I said ok. I contacted BOA and ask for the release of funds because the merchant gave me a refund. They said they couldn't do. I said ok. Gave up.
So during this time I started to receive unemployment every Friday. So I knew I was getting deposits. This took place the firsts week in April. So after talking to a agent a week after the merchant refund I received the credit from BOA as well. I didn't realize BOA gave me the credit a week after. Now here we are on May. BOA reverse the charge putting my account in the negative. Now they want me to pay them back. But that's not my fault. What was the point of them reviewing my account and giving me the money after I told them I'm getting a refund. The reps were not understanding at all. Nobody notated the account properly. And even when I told them to listen to the call they didn't want to. They were not trying to help me at all.

I have spent the last ten years completing my bankruptcy terms. Not one missed or late payment. Credit score now ranges from 780 to 810. All sites consider excellent. Decent amount of accounts to verify. While yes I did have issues from 2008 so did they. They took government money with no shame, so why am I being denied a second chance? What is ridiculous is murderer's have spent less time in prison than people who file for BK. This bank does not care about you or anybody for that matter, they want to use your money to make them more money hand over fist. Just to be clear the credit unions are far better if you want those "holds" to not apply, or want a loan that same day. All these crooks want is to hold your money in float as long as they can so their money pours in without you knowing it should be yours. Run While You Can!

My husband and I had joint checking and savings accounts with BoA. Both accounts were established for several years. One day I called to verify a deposit. I was told they couldn't provide me the information as I was no longer on the account. She did tell me my husband could get that information plus she listed the other person who appeared on the account-my ex husband of years. The ex had no knowledge of these accounts nor would he have cared and he has never banked with BoA. And my husband didn't remove me and add my ex. Plus this would require signatures of which there were none.
We immediately opened an investigation. After 6 weeks we were told the findings were 'inconclusive'. We reopened the investigation and this time we noted our belief it was their error. A person isn't randomly added to an account with a computer glitch. Someone at BoA knowingly made this happen. After 6 weeks the results were the same. Somehow this all happened without anyone or anything at BoA assuming any responsibility. We promptly closed all our accounts. I will never recommend this bank to anyone.

Despite being a customer since 1989 and a PLATINUM HONORS member, I still receive utterly disappointing Customer Experience all around. Here are recent examples all in the past week: Went into a local branch to get wire service. Was asked to wait in the lobby, where I did for almost an hour without any service. Eventually I just walked out. Called BOFA customer service, which is highly automated upfront, and after being recognized as a legitimate account holder, the systems puts me on indefinite hold, over 30 minutes, nothing...just a black hole. Called again twice, and the something happened. Clearly they have IT issues as well. Disappoint Bank of America customer in San Francisco.

I’ve been with BofA for several years now. Their customer service continues to get worse. It’s not just the call centers, but the local branches are trash as well. I’ve had several issues with them, especially when it involves moving money from their accounts to others. I am so unimpressed with how poorly organized and run this organization is. I will be moving all of my money out from BofA in the very near future. Terrible bank. Wouldn’t recommend.

I deposited a check from MoneyGram, made out to me into my BOA account at their ATM. I've banked with them 25 years. They put a TEN DAY HOLD on the funds. TEN DAYS!!! When I called to complain, they took off the hold (it took 2.5 hours of talking to multiple people). Four days later? They put the hold BACK ON, without notifying me at all. Nothing had changed. The hold is supposed to come off tomorrow, the original 10 days they had initially held it for. I'm closing my account asap. This bank is a nightmare.

I got an ID theft and all my information was hacked thru my computer. My Bank of America credit card was charged and my phone app alerted me, then I reported to the related commercial stores such as eBay, Walmart, Amazon.. Then I was advised to contact my Bank of America. All the purchases had been in pending and some of the purchased were cancelled by either Ebay, Amazon and Paypal, but the last one purchased from Walmart wasn't and after 3 months via around 20 phone calls made by me, Bank of America investigation department failed to do their job, which was investigating the incident.
They then tried to escape the case by putting the blame on me, a so called zero liability client victim, that I have to be responsible for what I did not do! The amount of money is not big ($199.99), but the frustration is after emails, chAttings, talking on the phones.. I am extremely disappointed with the outcome left for me and I have been very tired for the way Bank of America treating their clients as well as their attitude toward their loyal customer like me. I am a Bank of America customer so they had all my information. After speaking with a representative, it was decided that it was not a good time to refinance and we ended the call. 15 minutes later I received a call from LifeLock that I had a credit inquiry to open a new account. I tied to call BOA many times today and was transferred all over and could not get anyone to help me. I am so disappointment with them, I have been a BOA customer since 1998. Terrible customer service trying to get this resolved.

When my children were of elementary age their Godfather opened them each a custodial Savings account with Bank of America. A substantial amount of money was deposited into each of these accounts. We decided that custodial savings would be the best option since the money was to help pay for college expenses or for their first vehicle after graduating High School in the event that they opted not to attend college. We received bank statements for many years until we moved. When my daughter was 17 she needed emergency cash for a vehicle since she was working and finishing her senior year of High School so we went to BoA to inquire about her getting access to the funds. A BoA representative pulled up my daughter's account informing us that my daughter was the only person that will be able to withdraw from the account but she wouldn't be able to do so until she turned 18 years old.
Wanting to check on my younger child's account I gave the representative my son's information. She confirmed that his account was set up the same exact way. No one except my children will be able to access the funds in their savings accounts until they turn 18 years of age not even their Godfather that set up the accounts. Several months later my daughter turned 18 and graduated from high school. She seriously needed the money so she went to BoA only to be told that she still couldn't access the funds due to a change in their policy. The representative told us that new guidelines now require her to be 21 years old to have access to her money. We asked to speak with the branch manager only to be told the same thing.
We were extremely upset not understanding how they could suddenly change their policy when the account was opened under the terms that she would be granted access at 18 but regardless of our argument the manager told us that there wasn't anything anyone could do, this was policy therefore they were denying her access to her much needed money until she turns 21 years old. Less than three years later my daughter turned 21 and then was expecting a baby. She REALLY needs her money NOW. We go to Bank of America. My daughter gives the bank teller her information. The teller tells us she can't find the account. The teller calls over a supervisor, the supervisor asks a bunch of questions, tells us the same thing and asks us to have a seat so that someone in customer service can try to help us.
A customer service representative takes us to her desk, she can't find the account either so she sends us back to the lobby to wait on the manager. The manager takes us to her office, after go around and around with questions, she made calls to the heads of other departments. She tells us that once the custodial accounts matured that they would have needed to convert them to a regular account but she can't find any account there for my daughter nor for my son. She said to check with the state to see if the funds were sent there, that maybe BoA closed out the accounts due to dormancy,.stating that she can't find any record on Bank of America's end so that's her only suggestion.
We contact the State and government agencies to find out if they have received the funds only to find out that in fact haven't received any dormant bank account funds from BoA in the name of either of my children and in fact they have not received any unclaimed funds belonging to either of my children. We go back to BoA informing the manager that there isn't any record indicating that BoA sent the funds to the state or government. The manager basically says "Oh well, Nothing I can do", sending us on our way.
We tried several other BoA locations on multiple occasions only to be told they don't know what happened and no one can help us. How can a bank just lose accounts and thousands of our dollars like this??? What can we do?? We're not wealthy people, we literally scrape by. My kids are now 23 and 21 years old yet neither of them have ever been able to get a penny of their own money. This isn't right.. Someone please help!!!

She refers me to the dispute center. I wait 20 minutes. I learn that they can't do anything. "Next time tell them to tell me that it's a one year automation." The excuses and rambling from the customer service rep and the manager-Andrew, were completely disappointing. I have had this account since the early 80's and have not experienced such disregard or lack of empathy. I know that there is options to rectify a situation such as this! BoA locked my cards when on a trip in the Colorado Rocky's. I had set my cards with a travel notice but BoA still locked my accounts. I spent 4 hours on the phone only to be told that I would only be able to withdraw $100 dollars and would have to wait for my new cards to arrive at my home in Texas. I was only 2 days into a planned 2-week trip. Once home, 2 days later, my cards didn't arrive for another week. I wasn't allowed to withdraw money from accounts during this time and was forced to rely on friends to feed me. Because of the short notice, I was unable to reclaim many of the reservations I had made. BoA gave me the cold shoulder when I complained and even tried to gaslight me into saying the issue was my fault. If I had to change anything about this event, I would filed a small claim against BoA for my losses.

Although I'm not a fan of banks I used to like Bank of America because they had one of a kind virtual teller assist atms that were open until 10 pm most days . Sure they had a rather high fee but I could go in and cash a check after bank hours which was the saving grace for someone like me who is always at work during bank hours. And I know I was not alone in my appreciation of the teller assists late hours since there was often a 1 or 2 person line after 7 pm.
Recently they changed the automated teller assist to only be available during bank hours and thus have negatively impacted their progressive teller assist project to render it completely useless. What is the purpose of the high tech teller assist if I can just go to the bank. Better yet what is the purpose of going to the bank if they are just going to point me to teller assist? Bank of America is using what was a topnotch business idea of teller assist at the time that you need it, and turned it into a waste of time when we don't need it.

After 20 years with BOA, they made a “business decision” to close the account my wife and I had with them since the beginning. They also closed our sons’ (22 and 19 years) accounts. All without any warning. The four of us were traveling 500 miles to attend a family member’s college graduation. While attempting to purchase gas 3/4 of the way there, we learned that none of our debit cards worked and since it was after 9 pm on a Friday, we had to wait until Monday morning to talk with anyone.
On Monday, after being on hold for 18 minutes, the representative and his supervisor could not or would not provide any reason other than their generic “business reason” for why we were left out to dry after 20 years. I guess that my complaints about their horrible customer service finally got to them. So, in order to improve their customer service scores, they apparently plan on dumping customers that complain.

Here is why I left Bank of America years ago:
1) I had a personal loan with a company which was taken over by B of A. With no notice or due process, they slapped an arbitrary additional 10% on this loan. (My credit rating was extremely high and payment history immaculate.)
2) My parents attempted to deposit a check for one thousand dollars with a teller. This check somehow became lost - I cannot imagine how a check for $1,000 could be lost by a bank - but needless to say B of A took no responsibility and my poor parents never saw that $1,000 again. I know for certain there have been other people this has happened to.
3) Although I no longer - and will never - do business with B of A, I was asked to be a cosigner to someone else's account. I recently needed to arrange a simple inter-bank transfer from that account, a process which should have taken 60 seconds. Due to a stupid bug in B of A' online system - completely their fault - I could not move forward. The account got security-blocked and two hours were wasted talking to their customer support, which of course meant piles of waiting for them to answer "due to high call volume" (sic). Your time means NOTHING to B of A.

So I have been waiting to receive a new BOA debit card since April 15. It is now May 7. I have received no card. They told me the same thing 5 to seven days 9 days later. I went back nine business days no weekends. The guy was very nice. He said that I should have received it. He gave me a temporary card and told me five to seven days.
Today is day 9. I went into Bank of America thinking maybe the post office was the problem. I asked if my card could be shipped via UPS instead of USPS and I was informed very rudely that Bank of America only uses normal PS... I'm not sure what normal PS is but long story short I was given another five to seven day sentence. Do not use Bank of America. BoA intentionally causes my account to be overdrawn. I can not tell you how much money over the years I have given them in $35 fees. A few years ago there was some type of lawsuit and I receive 2 checks for insufficient fund/overdraft when in fact it was BoA intentionally causing my overdraw. Recently again it seems my account is negative every week. Since February 16 I was charged $35 fees 16 times! Last year I called and they told me I can change my acct so they decline the charge if acct insufficient, and then I sat down with an account rep and he told me there is no option to opt out of overdraft protection? I told him when I called 800 # I was assured I could request all transactions be declined if funds unavailable. So that was another lie I just found out; I do not write checks so all these overdrafts are from debit card transactions.
They are manipulating the order of my transactions so they can charge me $35. I can not believe that they have been getting away with this for so long and I do not want to think about how much $ they have made from stealing from a single mother with a daughter in college to support. This time they left me with $60 after overdrawing me again. I will be calling every state and federal office that deals with banking. I hope everyone that has this issue with BoA reports this to their state insurance commissioner, Dept of Consumer Protection and every agency that applies. They should have to return every penny to everyone they stole from. I don't know how they are continuing to get away with this for so long to so many people, please report BoA if this happens to you.

Media branch of Bank of America encouraged me to open a new savings account for a deposit of a large check for $245K. They gave me a slip stating that $5k would be available 3 days after the deposit at 5pm and the balance would be available 7 business days after the deposit. Without notification, they rescinded the initial availability of $5k. The total amount will now not be available until 9 days after my deposit.
It is my opinion that this is misrepresentation for the purpose of getting me to make a deposit of $245k and open a new account. Had I known that no funds would be available I would have deposited my monies elsewhere. Their explanation is that they are not given a reason by corporate - that the transaction must be investigated. Like the title company or myself is giving them a bad check.
Additionally, the new account they opened for me has a monthly $8 service fee on an account that will have a balance of $200k+. Thanks for years of customer relationship!!! I also had 3 mortgages with them for more than 10 years. I'm not going anywhere. I have vendors that need to be paid and based on the information THEY PROVIDED IN WRITING, i made commitments to others that their bills will be paid. These are the proceeds of one of my properties. When I sell the other property, I will certainly look elsewhere for an institution that stands behind what they put in writing. This is how Bank of America treats their long standing customers. THINK BEFORE YOU DO BUSINESS here and don't count the certainty of what they put in writing.

The teller at the counter informed me that they only had one appointment for later that afternoon at 2:30 so she tries to book the appointment and then she tells me, “Well now there’s no appointments available.” She calls another lady on the phone and tells the lady on the other end that she’s having trouble booking the appointment that five minutes ago she told me I could have. She hangs up with that lady and then tells me that somebody must have booked an appointment on the app so they have no more appointments all day long to do a five minute wire transfer.
Meanwhile there’s about 10 people in line behind me and only this one teller working. Another lady comes out from an office and starts asking everybody in line what they need and someone needed something notarized and she told her she would be more than happy to notarize it for her. So evidently they have time to notarize something for someone but yet they didn’t have five minutes to do a wire transfer for me. I had to get on the app and make an appointment at a different branch later in the day and spend my lunch break going to that branch which was farther away when the original branch I went to could have taken five minutes to do a wire transfer.

The experience in attempting to get my money back was probably one of the worst customer service experiences I ever had (I have just learned that I am not getting my money back); the most egregiously incompetent service wherein the people on the phone speak like robots and have no intelligence; they all failed many times to even refer me to the proper department among other incompetencies. Trying to even reach the right person is a grand nightmare. The service could not have been worse. Not surprisingly, because of this awful experience, I am closing all of my accounts with Bank of America and will be opening accounts with another bank; the worst customer service experience in my entire life. What an awful bank!!!

One day I was negative so that very same day I deposited funds to my account. I went to sleep with a positive account, enough to cover a payment I knew would come out the next day. When I woke up, to my surprise I was hit with 4 overdraft fees. I called the bank immediately and after being transferred to a supervisor the best she could do was remove two of the fees because she said I would have had to make my deposit by 8 pm Eastern time (I am Mountain) for it to reflect on my account as same day. So it didn't even matter that my account was positive with available funds (ridiculous!).
Well next morning I wake up to realize that not only did they not remove 2 overdraft fees as I was told, instead they added 2 more! I called immediately and they said there was no record of me speaking with a supervisor and that all the fees were assessed properly and would remain on my account. I canceled my direct deposit, I explained the situation and tried to do the right thing, but I also will not be scammed out of more money. I have filed a complaint, but if they don't do the right thing I can care less to stay overdrawn and lose a decade of being a customer of this lousy bank!

I gave them my drivers license and insurance card. After 5 minutes I asked them how long it was gonna take. He said 15-20 minutes. I told I couldn’t wait because I was only on a break and had to get back to work. I asked for everything back and he said not until after the verification. I asked if I could have my drivers license back. He refused to give it to me.
After waiting another 30 minutes he came from behind the door and gave me my drivers license and medical card back and said the check was fraudulent and to give him the number to my employer. I called the controller where I worked and she said this is not true. The manager walked out again and cashed my check. I was literally held against my will because I didn’t have my license to drive. I don't know how he managed to pull up my info because I only provided him with my first and last name, no middle name nor birth date or anything of that sort. He told me I had to call Google because they would be able to give me my money back, not BoA. "If you can't get it from them, call us back and we'll help you then."
I understand if BoA isn't able to give me the money back, even though it's frustrating because the transaction is going through BoA. The issue is how dismissive the guy I spoke with was about it. He cut me off a few times during the 3 minute conversation. My explanation was not long, nor was I trying to drag on the discussion.
He didn't offer any suggestions to avoid it and blamed me putting my card info into Google Play for why the charge had happened. I would've like to have my account security reinforced a little more but he didn't offer any suggestions to help me, didn't even touch the topic or give me the chance to ask about it. He merely said, "Call Google and THEN call us if that doesn't work out for you." It was all very vague on his end and I'm annoyed that it came off so unprofessional and "idgaf"-like. Bank of America lies and tells you everything is ok with your HELOC application... Then you go through all the work of getting the documentation and get the "Ah-HA" moment. They intentionally lowered the appraisal of my home over $225,000 from the Zestimate on Zillow so they could give us a HELOC below the $100,000 and not give us the introductory interest fee of 3.99% for first year. (They "claim" the loan to value was too low, but the Zestimate and Comps around me were so much higher than their "appraisal").
Oh by the way, my husband's and my credit is over 800 and income is overly sufficient. The 3.99% introductory rate is a game to them to snare you and get a higher interest rate by defrauding the home value to much lower. Their communication is lousy. Fortunately I do not need their money but I am going to cut ties with them on my current HELOC and Credit Card. By the way, never try and make an international wire transfer with them. The customer service is the most horrible it has ever been.
On the first incident I processed a charge on my acct for 30 dollars, I only had 20 in my account at the time but I caught it right away and quickly transferred money in my acct within 10 mins, without the charge being fully processed I was charged a 12 dollar fee, within a matter of minutes, and to top it off when I called to dispute it because I have both a checking and a savings (with overdraft protection mind you) they would not remove the charge from my account because the rep said they have to be consistent on their fees which is the most bogus response ever and it's been a decade since I have called them to help out with an overdraft charge. But, just Because my money had moved from my savings to my checking account, they charged me a 12 dollar fee for a processed charge that 4 days later is still not processed.
Another incident occured today with me trying to get into contact with customer service to stop a pending payment. They could not verify me as the account holder because the security questions are bogus. They want me to remember a payment I made 2 months before to a company in which I make payments to but they would not let me in and told me goodbye to my own account and I do not have service where I was located to send a verification text message and they denied me to have information for my own account.
3rd occasion same incident about the stop payment for a QuickBooks charge, spoke to the rep about stopping the payment without any information they transferred me to QuickBooks customer service number without holding on the line or helping me find out anything else about how I can stop this payment. This is the worst customer service ever I will be surely taking my business somewhere else. Dont bother with Bank of America. They just want your money and don't care nothing about the customer.

She would regularly make scheduled payments to the CC. Unbeknownst to her, the 0% only applied to either a balance transfer OR purchases... but not both. Their advertising was misleading and of course, knee deep in the fine print said that the 0% applies to either or and not both. Since she never looked at the statements, high interest was racking up on the everyday purchases without her knowledge. The regular payments she made went to paying off the 0% transferred debt, not the regular purchases with high interest. Meaning you have to pay off the entire transferred debt before payments go towards the reoccurring debt. I caught onto this after over a year when I logged onto her account to pay off the debt before 0% term was over.
Several thousand dollars worth of interest racked up during that time. I tried calling BOA but they were not helpful. They said the reason they do that is so that you pay off your balance transfer faster-makes no sense since we were accruing interest debt. I paid the entire card in full (including the crazy interest fees) the next week. I will never use BOA again. I have a number of CCs, excellent credit, and never have problems with other banks/CC's. Not unlike so many other people I too have had one bad experience after another but the last one took the cake. I went to make a payment on my BOA Master Card of $202.09. Because I put a comma instead of period they debited my checking account for $20,209.00 How that even happened is beyond me because the comma was after the 2. In other words, 202,09. How does that translate into $20,209.
In any event I immediately called BOA customer service and they told me that I had to contact my bank which I ultimately did. Because I don't have $20,000 in my account I had to make sure that all of my other debits including checks I wrote that week wouldn't bounce. Thank God Citizens Bank, my bank took care of matters. In the meantime I had no access to my checking account so I had to use other credit cards to pay for things like groceries. Just when I thought I had the problem taken care of didn't BOA ping my personal checking account again! It ultimately got cleared up but I didn't have access to my checking account for 10 days straight.
When the next statement came out I was charged a $25 late fee and interest. I had to go to a local branch manager of BOA not once but twice to finally get this taken care of. While the problem ultimately got taken care of it cost me a lot of time from work to deal with. I proceeded to contact the local VP for BOA in Central New York and asked if there was anything that BOA would consider doing for my major inconvenience and loss of time, and of course the answer was nothing! In this day and age of customer service, it just boggles the mind. But considering there are over 4000 written complaints meaning there are no doubt a lot more, it shouldn't surprise me. I think we should all go out of our way to cease doing business with BOA and tell others to not even begin.

This branch is a good example of how the company views the value in face-to-face transactions from their customers. Almost non-existent from my personal experience. It's obvious they loathe having to spend money for tellers to service the great unwashed they see lining up to do deposits, cash checks, get cash, etc. Be there any day at 8:57 when they are scheduled to open @ 9:00.
I have been there when they didn't open the doors unit 9:03, despite having 5 people standing outside waiting. When I asked the teller how they could allow that, she blamed me. Told me I should have pulled on the door earlier, because they have something inside resembling a remote control the someone hits each day at 9:00. Expects the customers outside to continue pulling on the locked door until one time it may be open. She later confessed that they were all running "a little late" that day. I told her I wish that I had a business where customers were waiting for me to open each day.
Recently this Monday morning, I got in line and waited for the only teller to handle the two customers in front of me. Took over 10 minutes in large part because the teller window being used had an out-of-order ATM reader that rendered customer transactions to be slowed down to manual mode. While that was taking place, two other women were also behind the teller wall being busy doing anything other than helping the customers in the branch. Do you suppose they could have either moved the working teller to another window with an operating ATM reader, or even possibly opened another window to accommodate the existing customers long enough as to reduce the line? That might be something most businesses dealing with the public would do, but not BoA.
The reason is simple - they really don't want you there. They want your accounts to be with BoA, but they want you to service yourself with your ATM and/or On Line Banking. Servicing you personally costs them money, and we know BoA needs to watch their spending. I am forced to go there each week to make cash deposits for the company I work for. They are old fashioned and are not ready to switch over to ATM deposit cards like BoA would like us to use. I can tell you that I closed my BoA account originally opened in 1979 when it was C&S because of this, and happily go to Wells Fargo where they not only have multiple tellers speeding up the personal service process, they also still have drive-up windows! Try finding one of those @ BoA.

And many of the representatives get extremely argumental with you. I feel like that is very unprofessional, but they must be trained to do this. I don't recommend this card at all. You're basically not a valued customer as far as fees go.

1 star is FAR TOO MANY! The employees at the Bank of America branch at 135th & State Line should be FIRED! We have been customers of this bank since 1994 and I recently encountered absolute SHOCKING treatment by the staff at this branch. I needed help with my business account due to an injury I suffered in which I dislocated both of my shoulders. I was unable to drive and was having difficulty depositing checks using the bank's smartphone app. I had called my local branch to get assistance with these deposits AND to inquire about ways to reduce our bank fees. I initially spoke to "Sherry"... their "Financial Center Manager" and she said she would have their "Relationship Manager" named "Keith" contact me to help. I'm putting these job titles in quotes for a reason. Read on, please!
Anyway, Keith failed to contact me in the time frame Sherry had communicated... so I called the branch back. When I finally got Keith on the phone, he was RUDE and showed zero empathy for my recent injury. I tried to explain the sense of urgency I was dealing with as far as getting these checks deposited and also asked him to email me ways to reduce our bank fees... as I was being picked up for a doctor's appointment and could not discuss further on the phone at that time. I communicated my frustration to Keith that he had not contacted me as arranged and apologized for my tone. I was in massive pain due to these injuries.
I urgently needed help in getting these checks deposited... and again asked him to email some ideas on reducing our business bank fees as I was leaving for the doctor. I explained that we had a Chase Ink business card and that Chase bank had contacted us to see if they could secure our Personal and Business banking accounts as well. Keith continuously (and rudely) interrupted me and then told me to "** OFF AND GO TO CHASE" AND THEN HUNG UP! That is a VERBATIM QUOTE! I will gladly submit to a lie detector test, swear on a stack of bibles, whatever it takes. I say this because I tried to escalate this unacceptable behavior to their Corporate HR & Small Business reps... And, in the end, they chose NOT to believe me and NOT to address this situation. Keith told "Zach" (the regional manager) that he never used profanity. In addition, SHERRY, Keith's boss or co-worker at this branch also lied and covered for Keith.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BRANCH of BANK OF AMERICA. In fact, based on the horrible handling of this by the BofA Corporate offices, we will take ALL of our banking accounts elsewhere. Keith and Sherry are LIARS... plain and simple... And no one in this company has the decency or backbone to handle this incident in the proper manner.

They used to get in touch with me before shutting down my card for fraud concerns, but now they make their fraud problem my problem by shutting down my card without notice. I travel extensively, and have literally had my card shut down 3 times on a trip due to BOA’s fraud detection software (it stinks btw). They also hold large payments, suspending them even after they have cleared my bank, for some unknown reason, even if “you pay in cash at a BOA branch” I’m told. 2) My only account ending in #0001 with BOA was closed after multiple companies related to Ashley Living Madrid begin charging my account different prices for the exact same product.
3) I have not had access to online banking since my account was closed.
4) It has taken me several months to find addresses and figure out what was going on with the multiple charges from different companies, which I found out were all related to Ashley Living; the only company from which I purchased the item. I have kept in touch with BOA every step of the way.
5) The only 2 boxes of AMORA products I received came from Ashley Living Madrid and JOFE, both boxes were returned UNUSED. Copies of shipping receipts with dates and addresses to where they were returned were faxed to BOA immediately after I shipped them.
6) All other companies associated with Ashley Living Madrid such as Green Carl and Active Living Enterprises never sent me any packages nor products, so their charges are fraudulent.
7) In November 2018 I called to check on status of accounts ending in #0001 and #0002; there was no information regarding any amounts due or past due. This made me certain that BOA had read my last fax and could see that I was not at fault.
8) December 2018, I received a letter from BOA stating that I owe $264. 60. I called and found out that I have been charged late fees even though my account was closed. If an account is closed doesn’t BOA know that a customer does not have access to online banking? Are banks allowed to add late fees without the customer knowing they are being charged?"
Bank of America responded: that I “reported card lost or stolen”. This is not true. I closed it after that I no longer trusted Bank of America after I made two BILL PAY transactions in April 2018 for $1000 each to be paid to a Hospital. One of the $1000 payments never got sent to the Hospital. Instead, I noticed suspicious activity in the BILL PAY history such as numerous checks listed there, but no amounts attached to the check numbers. Documented addresses and number of packages I received and did not receive, even though I was charged. If that was the case, why then is she being punished.
So we called the department that is responsible for closing accounts. We were told that the closure was not due to any type of fraud at all. So I asked the question again as to why the account was closed, and this was the response. "BANK OF AMERICA HAS THE RIGHT TO CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT AT ANY TIME AND WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION."
I was told that we would be receiving a letter in the mail indicating why it was close. Here is what the letters says. "As we previously notified you, we've closed your account. The cashiers check is for the account balance. If you have any questions about this matter you can call us at 877..." Again no explanation. This feels so unfair. After communicating with everyone, the management sad they are not going to help and said the the CEO asked not to contact them again. I received a ‘targeted’ promotion from Bank of America. This means that they already had somewhat of an idea about my eligibility for an account. I opened a 2nd tier checking account online on 3/5/19. I received an e-mail stating that my application was being processed. I contacted the application department with my confirmation number and was told I needed to answer some security questions to verify my identity. Cool, easy to do, no problem.
My account was approved and I had initiated an ACH transfer from my current bank. After a few days of not hearing anything from them, I decided to call because they did manage to withdraw the funds from my account but I never got anything in the mail and no more email communications. I was transferred to the fraud department and told I needed to bring 2 forms of ID into a financial center. I walked across the street from my job, to the Bank of America. I was then told that my account was closed because they could not verify my identity. This was a bit of a shock because I completed the identity verification over the phone and then never received any requests for further verification.
Then, the worst part was that the account had been closed before receiving my deposit and they had zero record of it. I still wanted to open an account because I am having a lot of problems with my current banks availability of certain services, and I would love to take advantage of the bonus deposit promotion I was offered. I was told I would have to make another minimum deposit of $100 in order to do this.
Now, they couldn’t tell me when or even IF I would receive my original $100 deposit, so not really jumping at the idea of handing over more money. So, I still, as of 3/10/19 have not gotten any information on what happened to my money. I also have a sneaking suspicion that I will not be eligible for the promotion as the account technically WAS open, and then closed-the terms & conditions state anyone who has had an account in the last 6 months is not eligible. So even though the account was closed before it was funded, and they had no problem taking money out of my account, they will most likely use this as a reason to not pay the promotion. The promotion I didn’t seek out on my own.
Also, how is it legal to withdraw funds from an account BEFORE verifying identity and how about keeping the application on hold until after everything is verified instead of opening it just to close it without even contacting the person to get more information? Totally ridiculous for an institution of this size. I’ve opened all of my accounts online with other banks and have never had so many issues. I’m including small online only banks like Varo in that statement. These startups are so much more trustworthy and have better interest rates and rewards so it makes me wonder how long consumers will continue to let these big banks get away with these practices?

I ended up losing my card at the mall so I filing a police report. I tried to use the online app to block my card and was unable to by the card being a temporary card. So the Following day the whomever had my card and was trying to make Walmart purchases but the purchases declined and I received a text message asking was I authorizing those transactions from Walmart and Louis Vuitton, I texted back no and the card was blocked. I contacted BOA and filed a dispute and a temporary credit was issued. Weeks later they recouped the fund stating since they saw I had made purchases with them in the past that's why the fund was recouped. Ain't that some **.
I contacted the LV and the rep stated my name was used but my personal information was not to contact my bank. So when I contacted BOA they did not even do a full investigation on that I don't transactions with them is why they took my funds back. This will be my first and last time doing business with this company. I have a business account. In no way in Heck I will ever do business with this company again. As we all know If you have shopped at LV you have your own personal account that links to the information on your Identification and the purchase that was not use was not linked to my account.

Instead, I got an automated call system that took 10 minutes just to navigate through the phone maze. I have to wait 20-30 minutes to speak to anyone, just to be forwarded to the electronics claim team, and then wait another 20-30 minutes. Bank of America customers, BEWARE. Normally I read customer reviews for products and services I use. I should have checked the reviews for Bank of America before I opened a checking account. On the Consumer Affairs website there are 475 reviews in the past year rating them with 1 star. My experience was that I have a mortgage with them. We were informed that to pay additional principal on the mortgage we are required to have a checking account with Bank of America. So we opened an account. The same day we were notified that we had an overdraft of $888,888.88. That turned out to be their code for a problem with the account.
After calling them they informed us that they are closing our accounts. The reason? It was a business decision. When I asked what that Sign In or Create an Account, was based on, they told me that in the policies and procedures when I first opened the account it stated that they can close any account at any time with no reason. I couldn’t believe it. I will be reading all customer reviews from now on. Go read them. They are very interesting.

We have had a checking account and I a CD for nearly 15 years. Because they felt compelled to find out what my husband's profession was and he did not respond, they closed our checking account. We received a notice in the mail four days after the closure and must wait 10 days for the monies from the account even though it was from a direct deposit 5 months ago. I called to discuss and was offered an option for callback that failed. After waiting for 70 minutes a nice male answered and put me on hold for 10 minutes while he researched. He checked in with me periodically. He said he had to transfer me to another department only to transfer me to a closed department that promptly ended the call.
I called back and was able to opt for the callback which came approximately an hour later. I spoke to a woman who put me on hold for ten minutes. When she returned to me she started to explain and within 20 seconds disconnected the call. Another call with no callback even offered and after another hour the call was answered. Several short holds for research and a transfer to a supervisor who offered no assistance only that I had to talk to the compliance department on a business day. Explained that they closed the account with my husband as they didn’t know his profession. My CD they could renew but the checking closed. 4.5 hours total and now I face hours of sitting in the branch to close my CD that renewed at a lower rate than a regular no tier savings account.

I'll start off by saying at the beginning of the year the bank did waive some fees for me that they really were not obligated to. But it appears now they're on an aggressive mission to collect back what they waived and then some. This is what the bank does, first of all forget accessing your account online or via the app. The bank tells you that information is not accurate. Well why give me access to something that you know is not accurate. How can I make informed decisions if what I see is not accurate.
I had an incident when I saw one figure and acted accordingly. I also mentally calculate what I spend. Turned out I was short by a few dollars and boom I got charged the overdraft fee. I pled my case. What did the bank say, well the figure on the app is not accurate but in any event I'm not entitled to any fees being waived. But I argued the overdraft fee happened only because the figures were inaccurate. Not a problem I created. Nope too bad, no more fees being waived, they're not budging. Ok fine I move on.
The following week, something similar. This time I am partly at fault. I did forget a reoccurring charge, but fine I was willing to pay the overdraft fee for that. However when I checked my account I'm charged TWO fees. Why?? So this is how the bank did it, I had two charges including the one I did not have sufficient money for. The charge I KNOW I had enough money for was made after some purchases, which again I know I left sufficient money for. How am I sure, well after I made said purchases I immediately went to my account to check. The forgotten charge came the following day. So what did the bank do the following day. All my transactions were rearranged including the forgotten fee so now it looks like my account was over drafted twice.
Makes sense...ok let me make sure you understand what I mean. I made transactions in the order of A, B, C. Enough money for all these transactions. The following day transaction D is posted to my account. This is the charge I did not have sufficient funds for. Fine. I won't argue. I did slip up. I'll pay my overdraft fee. The day after that I check my account, so now transaction D is posted first (it is also the largest amount), and then the other charges are listed from largest to smallest. Now what that does is show that I did not have enough for the last TWO transactions. So guess what, I now have two overdraft fees.
When I call the bank they say, "Yes we post the larger transactions first always". Wait, what? What does that have to do with me? Transactions A, B and C all were made a whole day before transaction D was posted. How do you decide 48 hours later to post in order of amount. Not fair. I want my money back. Nope they say, "You not entitled to any waiving". I acknowledged and said I should rightfully pay the overdraft fee for transaction D, but it's not fair that I have to pay for this second transaction that I had money to cover when I made it. Nope they not budging, the manager even calls me back to lecture me on better money management.
Ok whatever. I just give up. Guess what, same scenario just happened again! I'm not even calling them, this week will be the LAST paycheck that comes into that account and I will never use them again. I'll take my business elsewhere to people who aren't working overtime to scam and steal for me. I'll stick with the credit union. Thanks.

I immediately called the correct number and reported about the authorization codes and voice message. The agent looked into my account and informed about a Zelle transfer of $950 to a person. I didn't recognize the transfer or person and I actually did not authorize any transfer (transfer happened at 7.56 am PST while I was sleeping). The agent put a hold on my account and filed a fraud protection claim and then asked me to go to the nearest branch and open a new account. I went to the branch and opened a new account and got the money transferred to new account. I didn't file any police complaint assuming BOA would resolve the issue with a refund.
ON 2/15 I called BOA and inquired about the claim and I was told that the claim was denied with the reason "authorization code was sent to the mobile number". I had no clue what to do and immediately went to local police department office and filed a complaint and I didn't hear anything back from the officer yet. I have no idea how the transfer has happened and how the money got stolen. But bank refusing to refund the stolen money and closed the case. Fees, fees & more fees! Originally I was told (by customer service) that as long as I made a monthly direct deposit of $200 to my checking account, I would not be charged a fee of $12. My checking account is used for my son's child support. I receive 2 payments a month that total about or over $200 (it's not consistent). BOA charged me a monthly fee & took my CHILD support money! I called customer service explained the situation, eventually after 45 mins I got my $12 back. Then was told it needed to be $200 direct deposit. I say ok, I'm doing that. I then set up a direct deposit of $25 extra dollars from another bank account to equal $225 a month (just in case), next month comes with another $12 fee.
Call customer service again! They then proceed to tell me it needs to be one direct deposit that equals $200! Angry wasn't even the word at that point! She wouldnt give me back my $12, I told the woman that's not fair to the parents who are doing the best to pay support, if the other parent doesn't make enough that week they may not be able to give 1 lump sum of $200, I shouldnt be penalized nor should you be allowed to penalize my child by taking my child's money. They need to live. He uses it for school lunch, hygiene products, sports, his basic stuff to survive/live. The only reason I set up this account is because my son is a little older with a very small part time job and he now has a checking account at BOA (with my name attached to learn some responsibility) and it's easier to transfer his child support money over to him (as he needs it/ration it out).
Originally when this $200 monthly direct deposit started, nowhere in their regulations did it say 1 deposit equaling $200, it just said $200 direct deposit. Technically that means as long as I have direct deposits that all equal $200 (Bank Of America) I should not be charged any fees! Since then their rules have been reworded, I've taken the time to read them. I am so sick of BOA! Always some new rule/fee change and a notice about their rules that could change at their discretion without notice to save their butts. I guess they're tired of being sued and losing! Save your money for another bank! I am in the process of switching banks! This happened with my linked savings account.
Originally when I opened my checking account and linked a new savings account, the bank employee said my savings is free if I have $10 monthly direct deposit from my checking. Well for 3 months I kept getting charged $3 fees and finally on the 3rd month customer service said it's a monthly $20 direct deposit. I said no that's not what my contract I signed off on said. Customer Service said well you will have to call every month and try to get that fee back then. I closed that account and stopped my direct deposit from my job. I then made my checking account a child support account. Then this new rule of $200 direct deposit started. I'm done with them! It's not how you run a business. No one will want to work with you.

However for the second month the amount is still sitting on my credit card. When I call to ask the BOA rep how to remove, he said it was still being investigated. Then I asked him if closing my credit card account would stop the automated charges and he said yes. So I closed my account.
I called back in two days to find the status of my dispute, and still no update. However this BOA rep told me that the automated charges will never stop, even on a closed account. By this point I asked to speak to a supervisor who tells me that both BOA reps are wrong, however she still did not tell me what the correct process is. So I closed my account based on their response and they tell me it was my decision. Yes, my decision based on the information I was given by them. I am going onto the third month and still no resolution on the dispute. And the only response I get on the credit card is I can apply for another one. At this point I would not recommend bank for any banking needs. If their employees do not know their own internal processes, and they have you close an account when you do not need to, I am having a hard time trusting them with any of my money.

Also there was a tax increase, which amounted to under $200 a month on a yearly basis. I received as much help as Bayview could give me given my loan was closed. I have no complaints with them.
I have haggled with Bank of America for 4 months now and have not been helped. On my own, I obtained a refund of the duplicate insurance payment and gave that directly to Bank of America. I was then told I was approximately $4700 short on my escrow account and not given any options to pay that, other than to increase my payment by $800 a month or to pay the $4700 in full to them. Now mind you, Bayview Loan Servicing had identified the same nearly $5000 escrow shortage and had increased my payment on a 60 month option to cover the shortage, so my monthly payment only increased slightly. At the time, they had presented to me to pay the amount in full, or 2 or 3 other options. Operative word being "options".
Bank of America then decided they needed to charge me again for the same shortage that I was already paying for. And again, the 2 options I was presented were to pay the $4700 in full or to increase my monthly payment by $800. I asked for an escrow review, which took months to accomplish. I kept receiving letters asking for the huge increased payment. Then I started receiving letters with different amounts due. It was crazy. And in the meantime, I discovered that my payments, which I was making monthly in the originally prescribed amount, and then in amounts that they specified, were not being credited. I had been given the OK to make that payment amount until the escrow account was analyzed and straightened out. However, that is not what happened.
Now I am getting pre-foreclosure letters. My credit score took a nosedive. And Bank of America says they cannot do anything because I did not make the higher payment. And NOW they tell me I should have been offered some options, but that they cannot go back and do anything nor can they do anything about the credit reporting because, after all, I did not make the huge increased payment that included money I was already paying towards in my previous payment.
Today in talking with the rep, I told her I felt like burning down my house, taking the insurance money and paying off Bank of America, and getting a loan with somebody else. There is no help. The hard work I did for the modification and to increase my credit score almost 200 points was for nothing. Why bother to make your payment on time when they don't care and won't fix their own mistakes? If this was the only option for a mortgage, I would rent. Do not ever get involved with this company.

The "Pay To line" and the signature were forged and it was cashed at a non-BOA bank. Instead of being an advocate for me in this situation and expediting a claim on my behalf, I have been waiting for 81 business. While this may not be the simplest of matters, it's also not very complicated. Every call to check on the progress has been met with excuses about how it can take up to 126 business days. All three months our $800.00 has not pulled and processed. Today, I was transferred five times and on hold for over two hours and still do not have an answer to my problem. It seems there is no one that knows how to resolve my online payment issue. Tonight I finally got someone through online banking/troubleshooting (Brian from NY) and he was able to assist me within 20 minutes. I do realize that even though I was told by every representative that they were sorry for the inconvenience - they really were glad to transfer me. I have been a loyal customer of Bank of America for almost 20 years. 4 weeks ago I was asked to update my credentials by BOA. Subsequently both checking and savings account were closed together with my 2 credit cards. Trying to get a meaningful explanation was both exasperating and hopeless. What I have only been able to determine is that it was a “business decision”.
If this is how they treat long term customers and cannot provide a better explanation I would appeal to any future and potential customers to not consider doing business with such an arrogant organization. The only creditable employee in this affair is my branch manager. He explained that these decisions were made at a corporate level and he also would be unable to obtain a more meaningful explanation. Apparently due to the nature of my employment, including international business travel, I have activated an algorithm that is labeling me a money launderer, terrorist, or drug dealer.
If it were possible to clarify matters then the situation would be more tenable. However Bank of America should be rebranded as Bank of Don’t give a Hoot or Bank of Corporate America (... and regular folk don’t bother us). Bottom line: there are much better banks to deal with. Do your homework and give these guys a wide, wide berth. Good Luck.

I called their Manager and she cannot explain to me what happened and she said I'll be getting a letter from mail to explain?! As of today Feb. 8, 2019 I haven't received any letter from Bank of America!
Here's my issue with Bank of America on what happened to me. 1.) Communications- Piece of ** Bank of America didn't even bother giving me a call and informed me that my approved credit card has been lowered. 2.) False Advertisement- Again Piece of ** Bank of America did not even committing on their customer to get what they are approved for! 3.) Customer Service- What ** Bank of America did to me is a disservice to its loyal customer, more like a slap in the face! I was paying my monthly dues on time. Never was late and I'm paying 10X more of what is my monthly payment amounts is! I don't understand why do they have to lower my approved credit line even though I was paying on time and paying more on what I owe?
So anybody from Bank of America can please respond to this matter and explain to me what's the reason for lowering my credit card amount without even informing your customer??? I would never recommend Bank of America because I experience the most horrific customer service in my entire life!!! Don't do business with Bank of America because they will ** you over even when you're paying your monthly dues for no reason!! I'll be reporting this company to BBB for their false advertisement and hopefully this review will help new customers to rethink if they want to be a part of a company who doesn't give a ** about their customers! Today, the charge is back on my account. After an hour on the phone (and speaking to 4 different reps), I was told that a letter was sent out 11 days ago saying that after investigating, my claim was denied and the claim department is closed. I need to call back during regular business hours to find out why they denied the claim. The mystery letter was not available for review online, which per my settings it should.

I have been a customer of BoA for several years, and I had checking account and a credit card with them. My parents are visiting me from third world country for a few months every year. While they are here, they work at McDonald's and using BoA checking account for direct deposit. When they opened the account, the offer was that if in the next three months they get certain amount from direct deposits, they will receive $300 bonus. Three months later my parents go to the grocery store to buy milk and bread, and neither of their debit cards work. I was in another city planning and having a funeral for my mother in law who recently died, and I was unable to help them.
My parents speak very limited English; however, after spending two hours on the phone with BoA, they were able to find someone who speaks the same language (which was a great thing). The response was: "BoA chose to close their account and they will EVENTUALLY receive the cashier check after the investigation is over. There is no actual time frame and they cannot answer why the bank made such decision. Also, they will not be able to open another account either."
The next morning I spent about an hour on the phone with the BoA customer service, being bounced among 5 different representatives that could not answer me why the account is closed and why my parents cannot get their funds? Finally Norma from the closure department answered: "It was the bank's decision, and at some point after the investigation they will be getting the cashier check" ...Sounds familiar, huh? The only problem is, my parents are traveling back home and these are the only funds they are counting on to survive over there!
My husband could not listen to this ** anymore and yelled back "What is there to investigate? Several direct deposits from McDonald's and less than two grands?" We asked for Norma's supervisor, and that was a hassle! Finally she spoke to her supervisor, Ashley, herself and they ALLOWED us to withdraw all their funds the NEXT day ONLY! And so I did, as well as I chose to close my other accounts and credit card with them, as I don't know at what other most tragic and inconvenient moment this bank will "chose" to screw me over.

I was charged late fees unaware that my auto draft wasn’t valid and costing me a ton of money! I was disappointed as I had opened up an Amex account and received 10k to start with, but I let it slide since I was building my credit and only using this card for a balance transfer. When I proceeded to do the balance transfers, I was informed by customer service that I was only allowed a certain amount of transfers instead of a certain amount of time. This was not what was told to me over the phone when I opened the account so I was pretty unhappy. I decided to just pay down my debt the old fashion way and just use the card for my everyday purchases since I was trying to build up my credit.
I used the card for 6 months and called to request a credit line increase, after all I was making all of my purchases with it and paying the balance off every month. It was to my surprise that I was denied for my increase, and the representative said it was due to "time." I thought, maybe I had requested too early (even they told me I would be eligible in 6 months) so I would try again 6 months from then. Six months came and I applied again and was denied again. I made the decision to cease all charges on this card and to stop using it altogether. It had been a year and something told me to check my account, so I checked and saw there were fraudulent charges through a food vendor across the country. I immediately called customer service where I was given the runaround about the charges. I felt as if I was being investigated for charges that I didn't authorize. I was on the phone for over an hour with them and it took forever to get resolved.
Fast forward to this morning, I get a notification from Bank of America about a year long statement. I go to the mobile site to check my account and cannot get access. My husband and I have a BOA credit card, and it’s what I use for my personal purchases primarily online, to help our credit. It has a 300$ limit. It is the most unreliable card! It declines for no reason, even if we JUST put money on it. The online statement never adds up. I just paid it in full, made one $30 purchase, and it’s been declining for two days. We went into the bank to ask what the heck was going on and they said there was a “glitch”. Well, said glitch has not been fixed. Card is still declining. I need to use it... I’m extremely frustrated. I have things I have to purchase, I'm out the money I put on the card for these things, and now the card isn’t working. Where’s the money? No clue.

I have been a customer with BOA for over 15-20 years. I have great experiences and unfair experiences. I have made deposits in Very large amounts never experienced a problem and small amounts and have caught hell. Until recently BOA suddenly randomly select accounts to place Check Holds similar to TD Bank. Unbelievable causing a Catastrophic Disaster and my bills being delayed. After making a deposit via ATM, with 1/10/2019 the deposit slip after the check was taking advised me that a HOLD would be placed on my account until 1/22/2019. I immediately contacted BOA, inquiring as to why. I was then advised that the Check HOLD VARIES And they have a Right to place a Hold on a check. Remind you the check is drawn within the same state.
I was then advised that according to their records the check would be released by 1/19/2019. I hung up and was very upset. Afterward a restless night I decided to contact BANK OF AMERICA. On 1/11/2019 1st at 8:10am to be advised that the check would be available not on 1/18/2019. Meantime another called in the evening only to be advised that 1/19/2019 is the release date. Well the check has been drawn out from my Mom’s account and I have to wait for them to collect INTEREST ON THE CHECK UP TO $1000.00 UNTIL 1/19/2019. BEWARE BOA BAD BANKING POLICY AND PROCEDURES. Every time we have tried to get into our Bank of America Credit Card account it is a horrible experience. Our online login user names and passcodes NEVER work. So we use the system to reset our passcodes. The system says it has taken the new codes. However, when we try to login - the new passcodes are not recognized. And, the system starts a 3 try count down. We always get clear out and clean the cache before we try to log in with the new codes. This has happened multiple times over the past two years. We always end up having to call BoA for help. And, if you think trying to log in is a hassle, just wait until you try to call in for help!!
Last time I went through the login hell and ended up having to call to get phone help (a long and agonizing process), I set the payment rules for automatically paying the balance in full each month direct from our checking account. For the past several months the system has been making minimum payments and assessing interest charges. Luckily, it's a small balance because we try not to use this card because of the support hassles. I just want to get in to pay the balance in full and be done with this card!! Tomorrow I'll have to go through the call in procedure to get this done. What a pain!! After it is resolved this card gets cut up.

On September 27, 2017, I made a $8,176 deposit at the local branch of Bank of America, following the instructions of someone who had spoofed my lawyer's email. I was in the process of purchasing a home and needed to provide the remaining balance of the downpayment. Someone spoofed my lawyer's email and directed me to make a deposit into a specific account at Bank of America. The reason I fell for it was because we were far in the process of purchasing the house (we were close to closing), had already exchanged dozens of emails, and the spoofer knew details of the conversation I had with my lawyer the night before the email was sent. I suspect that the realtor may have had something to do with it, but I'll let the FBI make that determination. I can discuss those details in another post - this one is about the Bank's negligence.
On October 2, 2017, I spoke to my lawyer and we realized it was a scam. I immediately went to the local Bank of America to report it. I spoke to the Branch Manager, who told me that she had put a temporary hold on the account. I forwarded her the email chain for proof of how I was scammed. She suggested that I go to the police to report it and indicated that I may need a subpoena for the funds. I went directly to the local Police Department to generate a police report. I've also reported this incident to the FBI through the IC3 website multiple times. I never heard from Bank of America, so I gave up on the home that I was trying to purchase.
In addition to the stolen funds, I lost additional money that I had already spent on an inspection, appraisal, and a downpayment on homeowner's insurance. I almost also lost the downpayment on the house that I had already made. The police concluded that I was in fact scammed but were confused about what needed to happen for the bank to return the funds. Bank of America never so much as sent me a letter indicating that the incident was being investigated or provided me with a case number. I tried to call them to get an update but would always get the runaround. I called a few months back, and after about 3 hours of runaround and multiple transfers, I spoke to someone in their security team who assured me that funds were still in the account.
Since it was over a year and I had heard nothing, I decided to email the CEO of Bank of America, Brian T. Moynihan, directly and inform him of the issue. I sent him an email on December 17, 2018. That seemed to prompt some action because someone from the bank called me back within hours. The story seems to change every time that I speak to someone from BoA. At first I was told that there's nothing that they can do because it was a cash deposit that I willingly made. I explained that I was misled by a scammer to deposit my money into a specific Bank of America account, and was told that "no one put a gun to your head" so I was technically liable.
Unsatisfied with this response, I emailed Mr. Moynihan again. This prompted additional new responses, including an email from someone whose title is Executive Advocate, Office of the President, saying that they were looking into the matter. For the first time, I was given a case number. Over the Holiday break, someone from BoA called me to inform me that they were investigating the incident. After the new year, he called again to inform me that the account has been closed and the funds are no longer available, so there's nothing that they can do for me. When I ask why they released the initial freeze that was put on the account while they were still investigating the fraud, I get told that they can't tell me information about others' accounts. All they told me is that the funds were withdrawn in October 2017.
Why did they never update me in over a year, even though now they are claiming that the funds were cleared out back in October 2017? Why did they release the initial freeze, after the fraud was reported and they claimed to be investigating? Why does the story continually change? Why did they initially tell me that I need a police subpoena when the police themselves were confused by the requirement? The officer investigating my case told me that police only subpoena evidence if they have an arrest. They had never heard of subpoenaing a bank for stolen funds. The officer even went to the local branch to try to see what he could do, to no avail.

I didn't recognize the charges so I said they were not mine. That was it nothing else was said. The next day, I went to the convenience store to get a drink but my card wouldn't work. I thought for sure I had money to cover $1.59, luckily I had $2 in cash to purchase it. I knew I had to make additional purchases like my medication and personal household items. I called BofA to find out why I couldn't use my card. They explained that it was shut down due to fraud. I said fine, but I need it reactivated to purchase these items.
I was told that wasnt possible and that I would need to transfer money to someone else's account and use their card. I have no one close to do that. Then they said go to a bank and withdraw cash. It was 6:30pm where all banks are closed. Then he told me to go to a check cashing place and write a check to myself for cash. Again, these businesses are closed. There was no way for me to get my medication or my personal items. I am highly upset as I was not notified that my card would no longer work. After they hired me as a project manager, part of my job training was to purchase equipment for the company using my B of A credit card and I was reimbursed by the company accounts from other banks daily, bringing my account balance to zero. After few months all the payments to my B of A account was withdrawn by these other banks as the company turned out to be a scam and had been apparently using other people's accounts to reimburse my purchases without my knowledge. I received a note from B of A that I owe them about $200,000 because of these withdrawals that I was not aware of and did not approve.
Now the hiring company has vanished and B of A is suing me for that amount. Even though FBI and US attorney are investigating this international fraud/scam case and they have already arrested a person in New Hampshire who was part of this scam, still B of A does not agree that this was a fraud and is coming after me (their long time customer) instead of letting their insurance company cover the losses or go after the other banks who illegally deposited these reimbursements to my account to begin with. This has been the most humiliating & distressing experience in my life. I strongly recommend that people avoid any banking business with Bank of America.

On Thursday December 27 2018 Bank Of America called me to let me knew that someone fragility put a check in my account which I did not have any knowledge to what was going on. Mind you I had money in my checking and savings account before my hack got hacked with this fragility check from Gulf Coast Bank Trust. I made a police report regarding this issue. When Bank of America called the Guy name was Nate who had called me about this issue. He stated to me that my account was going to be in the process of closing because of this check that was deposited into my account. Then on Friday December 28th 2018 Bank of America had let my direct deposit go to my account which was hacked and it's on hold at Bank of America.
What I don't understand to why Bank of America had accepted this fragility check that was deposited into my account with my Knowing or endorsement. What piss me off when Bank of America is holding my payroll check and the remaining balance that was in my checking and saving accounts before this stupid check came into my account.
Check this out. I went in person to Bank Of America and spoken to Rolando **. He was so nasty and rude to me and he had the nerve to say to me that I should be mad at the person who did this. I stated to him was that if I knew who did it I wouldn't be in person trying to figure this out about this check that wasn't suppose to be in my account. Rolando ** had the nerve to say that he didn't care if I put his name out there. And he said to me that he was going to call the cops on me to have me arrested for trespassing because I want to know when Bank of America was going to release my payroll check and the remaining balance what was left in there before the fragility check got deposited into my account. Good thing I was smart enough to screenshot the fragility check that was deposited into my account to my phone. It's mighty funny how it only shows the front and not the bank of the check.
Bank of America should have sent that check back to the bank that was print on the top of it which was Gulf Coast Bank. Make it so bad I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and it was mighty funny how quick Bank of America called me when they received the call from the Better Business Bureau.
The lady name was Erin ** and she gave me her direct number and extension because they know they have to release my payroll check and the remaining balance that I'm entitle to. I told Bank Of America I want every brown penny ASAP because I'm still going to sue Bank of America for making me wait two weeks for my payroll check and the other remaining balance. The pain and suffering that I went thru without me having my money. I had to file out a civil suit against them because they given me so many different numbers to call to resolve this issue. Yes I did change my bank.
I won't never bank with Bank of America never again. I do not recommend anyone to not bank with Bank of America. People change your banks if you have Bank of America. They are no good. After I get my money from them I'm still suing them for pain and suffering and emotional distress because I have bills just like everyone else. Bank of America is not getting away with this because I work too hard to have them thinking I did something and knowing I don't get down like that.

I have been on hold for 2 hr. 10 Min! My big issue? Just want to take off $95 of fees they charged when I have overdraft protection for a sum total of $50 worth of expenditures. That ends up being close to 200% interest. As soon as I saw it, I went in and put in money. I am now on call w/ the 3rd person asking for help. This one was more helpful than the last 2, who were abrupt and couldn't have hung up fast enough. BoA tries to charge fees for every little thing as a way to gauge the customers. Bank of America has two major promotions going now, one for a credit card and one for a checking account. I applied online for both accounts so that I could manage my cash back rewards from the credit card and receive a “10% Cash Back Bonus” when you deposit your credit card cash back into a BoA checking account. I was notified a week later that both accounts were approved and on the way. I received the credit card quickly (had to pay a rush fee) in order to purchase Christmas gifts for my kids and take advantage of the cash back reward.
So I spent nearly $550 on the credit card only several days after applying online. THEN, I got an email saying my account was closed and they sent a refund of my $25 activation fee. So after receiving my refund check I called the BoA customer service. They said the “Risk Department” closed my account because they couldn’t verify some information I provided on the online application, therefore rather than attempting to verify the “information”, they close the account. They said twice at the “Risk Department” and the “Escalation Services” that I MUST go to a branch to verify the information and protect from fraudulent account openings...
So you let me open a $6000 limit credit card with no personal verification, but not an empty checking account?! Makes total sense... Little did I know, the nearest actual BoA banking branch near me was over 150 miles away. The Escalation Specialist then continuously cut me off, and said there was nothing they could do. Either go to a branch and verify the information or and I quote..."Don’t bank with Bank of America". Well, I have chosen the latter...
Nowhere on their promotions page for the online checking due. They note that you may be required to personally verify your identity. But, to not be able to tell me what couldn’t be verified? And also, that it’s done to protect from fraud is completely ridiculous. I don’t know whose idea it was to hassle potential customers this way, but given the technology we have today (FaceTime, Skype, etc)...being unable to identify someone other than in person is lunacy. Do not bank with this company, they don’t want your business anyway.

With billions of dollars in fines and lawsuits, you would think that Bank of America would do everything they could to change their ways to operate in a more moral and ethical manner. But, that obviously isn't the case. I deposited a payroll check to my Bank of America account using their mobile deposit system. The check was issued from a Bank of America account. I have always been told that, if the check is deposited via mobile deposit and it is a Bank of America check, the funds will be available the next day. Now, suddenly and without warning, the funds are being held for a week. I suppose that has nothing to do with the fact that, in that time, my credit card payment for my a Bank of America credit card comes due, causing me late fees, right?! Additionally, my rent, car payment, and insurance were all planning to come from that check, costing me more money in fees.
Trying to resolve the issue with customer service is like talking to a wall. They'll just tell you that it is a policy (that you cannot see), administered by a department (that you cannot talk to). Stay away from Bank of America (and all banks in general) and go to a credit union. I regret the day that I decided to open a Bank of America account.

It seems to me the initial problem is with BANK OF AMERICA...(you know it’s owned by Saudis...right?) Anyway, this bank practices unethical and underhanded practices for years. This is why they have been sued dozens of times by class action lawsuits. I personally have had only good service and experience with Carrington since they took over my loan from BOA. I guess it’s just depends on what customer service rep you are “lucky or unlucky” to get. Their escrow department has improved significantly; now your escrow balance is on your statement and you can track it. This company’s policy is to have a cushion or they will float you a non interest loan attached to your mortgage that is spread out over three years to cover shortages.
My suggestion: 1. Stay on top of all your taxes for the year, add them up and divide by 12. 2. If you can add a little extra 10, 20, 30 etc. to your escrow every month. Cool. You will be surprised the difference it will make at protecting you as far as unforeseen increases. At the end of the year you will covered from any increases. 2. Their “ cushion” will be satisfied (No surprises), 3. After all taxes have been paid for the year; if you have extra money in your escrow account...Carrington will send you a check. Merry Christmas. No worries man.
