Birch scammed and misled us. They are pleasant when purchasing, but you don't realize you've been scammed until buyback. Please research and buy elsewhere from a more reputable dealer. In March 2022, after listening for several months to Birch's President Phillip on a conservative podcast, I invested through Birch Gold in Gold Australian Florins and two-ounce Silver Australian Florins into an IRA rollover. I initially contacted Birch and inquired about bullion in an IRA, but representative Jack told me Florins were the right products for my portfolio as they maintain the premium, and being new to precious metals, I trusted that guidance.
Here's what that guidance has now cost me. I was charged a 73.80% premium on gold and an 81.73% premium on silver. Industry standard is roughly 10% on gold and 20% on silver. Since then, gold spot has increased over 158%. Silver spot has increased over 221%. These are extraordinary, historic gains. And yet my effective return is 49.77%. My gold returned 42.18%. My silver returned 68.75%. In a market that has more than doubled and tripled, I barely broke even relative to what I should have earned. The reason is simple. The inflated premiums I was charged at purchase evaporated at buyback. Those premiums didn't just decline, they went completely negative.
Had I been sold standard bullion at fair premiums, I would have purchased an additional ounces of gold and silver with the same money. At today's spot prices, the value of my portfolio would be about 58% more than Birch's buyback offer. I was told these coins were better for me. They weren't. The premiums didn't protect anything. They didn't appreciate. They destroyed value and cost me a significant portion of my retirement investment.
Although our records indicate Ms. Seventko is our customer, not the reviewer, we are committed to accurate communication and will take this opportunity to address the inaccuracies in the review. These claims are 100% false and surprising, as we were in direct communication with Ms. Seventko and actively working on resolving her concerns.
Birch Gold Group discusses pricing and product information multiple times both verbally and in writing to ensure customers receive clear and transparent information. Customers choose which products they want to purchase and have the freedom to not make a purchase should pricing not meet their goals. At a minimum, Ms. Seventko read and signed, on June 5, 2024, a Transaction Agreement which disclosed pricing, and she also confirmed what products she wanted to purchase and agreed to the prices on a recorded line. Copies of her signed transaction agreement and recordings have been sent to her.
We have repeatedly provided clear explanations about how profit/spread is calculated and have disclosed our costs and spreads with Ms. Seventko. But, despite our efforts, she continues to have and share an inaccurate narrative that our profit is the difference between spot price and her purchase price. Birch Gold Group, like any retailer, does not buy metals at spot price.
Ms. Seventko's proposal is based on flawed logic and misinformation. As any legitimate Gold Company dealing in IRA-compliant metals would be aware, there were well documented inventory conditions that applied at the time of purchase. Understand the products selected—in particular ¼ oz Gold Australian Florin coins and 2 oz Silver Australian Florin coins—are not continuously available commodities. Both are produced and distributed in limited batches. For example, in late 2024, the physical silver market was experiencing well-documented supply tightness, which placed additional demand pressure on non-standard denominations such as 2 oz sovereign silver coins. As a result, temporary inventory restrictions and delivery timelines were inconsistent with normal market conditions at that time and were communicated accordingly. While availability has since normalized, the conditions in late September 2024 were materially different. Inventory conditions will either widen or reduce the difference in value between Tangible Asset Value (TAV) and melt value (spot price). Since the apparent competitors coaching Ms. Seventko are seemingly unaware of market conditions, it would be easy for them to conveniently change definitions, assert falsehoods, and use predatory tactics to push their agenda.We urge Ms. Seventko to do her own due diligence and a good place to start is by reviewing the United States Mint's website at www. usmint.org. By her definition of what a premium is, they are accusing the United States Mint of charging customers 125% above spot. As an example, this customer should direct their attention to the 1 oz Silver American Eagle Proof. The Silver American Eagle Proof coins, which are currently priced at nearly 100% above the spot price. By her logic, the US Government charges a massive premium outside of ‘industry norms’. We offer the 1oz Silver Proof American Eagle and can see the premium as any retail that sells US Mint products would.

BUYER BEWARE: After listening to an advertisement from Ron Paul, who I respected, regarding converting your Roth IRA into physical gold and silver IRA with Birch Gold Group in May 2023. I trusted smooth talking Phillip ** from Birch Gold Group through the whole process, not realizing that the 1/4-oz Gold Australian Florin and 2-oz Silver Australian Florin coins that were sold to me WERE NOT at all desirable to re-sell, with the only place to sell them at liquidation being Birch themselves. I was overcharged 47.40% on the 1/4-oz Gold Australian Florin coins and 75.69% on the 2-oz Silver Australian Florin coins - they put three quarters of my entire portfolio into these coins, even though I was hesitant, I was constantly re-assured that these coins were "better than bullion" for my portfolio.
I was so shocked when I finally got my statement with my custodian Equity Trust, to see that the value of the assets I'd purchase with Birch Gold Group WAS ALMOST HALF of my investment! Since the sale, and after repeated attempts, I have not been able to get hold of Phillip ** to answer a single question about why my investment portfolio had halved! Upon asking Equity Trust and Birch Gold Group why there was such a discrepancy in the value of these assets I was told that "it wasn't correct" and only for IRS purposes, whatever that meant! No one until recently could explain this discrepancy and realize how overcharged I was! BE VERY CAREFUL!
We take claims of this nature seriously; this review raises immediate concerns regarding verifiability and credibility. The person making these public claims has not provided any information that would allow us to verify that they were ever a customer who purchased precious metals through our company, however, we feel it’s important to still address the inaccurate statements made.
This review appears to follow a pattern we have observed in other instances where customers report being coached to post almost identical feedback by a competitor who has a financial interest. The competitor’s intent is to damage Birch Gold’s reputation in the hope that these customers will liquidate their metals and repurchase with them. Nonetheless, we will address these claims because, regardless of the origin of the complaint, there are misstatements that are factually and verifiably inaccurate based on our standard agreement, company policy, and publicly available information.
This review states: “not realizing that the 1/4-oz Gold Australian Florin and 2-oz Silver Australian Florin coins that were sold to me WERE NOT at all desirable to re-sell, with the only place to sell them at liquidation being Birch themselves.” This claim is inaccurate. In the secondary market, precious metals products, including these coins, are routinely bought and sold by multiple dealers and customers are not limited to selling to Birch. We encourage responsible research so accurate information can be shared. Some popular retailers like JM Bullion and Liberty Coin have these products listed right now.

The review also states: “I was overcharged 47.40% on the 1/4-oz Gold Australian Florin coins and 75.69% on the 2-oz Silver Australian Florin coins.” This is untrue, as our standard agreement, which you read and signed, discloses our maximum spreads. These claims of 47% and 76% are nonsensical, illegal, and not permitted in our organization. Furthermore, the claim of being “overcharged” lacks any supporting information including how the reviewer calculated these percentages. If the reviewer is basing their claims on the difference between spot price and their purchase price, that is not an accurate comparison. Our pricing is based on our cost, not the spot price. Unfortunately, because we cannot identify this customer, we cannot specify the price they paid to disclose their accurate spread; however, as with all our products, our pricing is competitive and can be even less than other retailers.
Here, the review makes the claim: “they put three quarters of my entire portfolio into these coins, even though I was hesitant, I was constantly re-assured that these coins were "better than bullion" for my portfolio.” We take great issue with this statement. We put tremendous effort into educating our customers on the different precious metals available. This statement indicates coercion and malicious intent, which is not only false, but also defamatory. That is not how our organization operates. We provide information and education to help customers make informed decisions based on their own goals, preferences, and interests. We do not promote or pressure customers toward any specific product. Instead, customers make their own decisions after they have all the information they need. We strongly encourage all customers to conduct their own research, compare product types (bullion vs. fixed mintage), and ensure their goals align with any purchase before making a final decision.
Lastly, this review states, “Upon asking Equity Trust and Birch Gold Group why there was such a discrepancy in the value of these assets I was told that "it wasn't correct" and only for IRS purposes, whatever that meant! No one until recently could explain this discrepancy and realize how overcharged I was!” As part of our educational approach, we inform customers verbally, in writing, and via a video made by their IRA custodian how precious metal values are reported by their IRA custodian. This means the difference between market value and spot value is explained multiple times to customers. It is not, and has never been, explained as something that is only for the IRS. Birch Gold Group does not control how IRA custodians report values, nor is the reporting method unique to Birch Gold Group customers.

My experience with purchasing products from Birch Gold was great. I made contact with the company via telephone and was immediately transferred to a sales representative. No long wait or shifting from one person to another. The person that handled the transaction was informative and helpful with all of my questions. He was always careful to ask if I needed additional Information. He also gave detailed information on the company and how they did business. BIRCH GOLD ROBBED ME OF MY RETIREMENT!!! I invested my entire 401K with this company. I was so excited, because after my gold and silver purchases, gold and silver skyrocketed. After speaking with my new financial advisor and telling him about my investment, he informed me that my assets should be worth around $1.2M. When I asked BIRCH GOLD how much they would pay for my gold and silver they told me $786,000. Because of the premiums they charged me they cost $414.000 of my retirement. What should be the happiest times for me as I plan to retire, has turned into a nightmare.
The reason I went with this company is because of the endorsements by Fox News, Ron Paul, Jordan Peterson, Steve Bannan. Why are they endorsing Birch Gold, who is stealing people’s retirement? Now, I find out that the owner of this company, Laith Alsarraf made his money in the adult entertainment business with Cybernet Ventures Inc. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE THIEVES!!!!
Respectfully, we disagree with Mr. Kearney’s accusations as they are grossly inaccurate. In the several conversations we had with Mr. Kearney to address his concerns it came to our attention that he has been communicating with an individual affiliated with a competing precious metals retailer who is falsely presenting themselves as a financial advisor. Although it was clear from the beginning that Mr. Kearney’s accusations were impossible, we took them seriously and conducted a detailed review of his account and transaction history and have since determined that the allegations raised are inaccurate.
Every aspect of Birch Gold Group’s operations is guided by strong compliance standards and transparent business practices. Our business model, compliance procedures, and transaction documentation processes are specifically designed to prevent the type of circumstances alleged by Mr. Kearney from occurring. After completing a thorough review of his account, we determined that Mr. Kearney has not incurred a loss and has, in fact, realized gains of several thousands of dollars on his investment. Additionally, the profit he references as percentages in his complaint do not reflect the actual profit associated with his transaction. We can confirm that the prices he was charged was well within the agreement he signed on the Transaction agreement and that the later confirm during the verbal confirmation on a recorded line.In addition to the misleading information that Mr. Kearney has received, he also has an inaccurate understanding of how an IRA custodian reports the IRA values. At Birch Gold Group, one of our core principles is education because we believe knowledge is extremely valuable, so we want to take a moment to educate you again. IRA custodians typically report precious metals at spot price, while physical precious metals carry value above spot or melt value due to fabrication, distribution, and market demand. This distinction can cause statement values to appear lower than the retail value of the metals themselves. FRAUD ALERT!! I was extremely overcharged for my gold and silver coins. In March of 2022 I moved my 401k into an IRA with Brich Gold. After speaking with Phillip **, who seemed very informative and upfront with information they proceeded to cheat me. I was overcharged roughly 75% on my silver coins and over 50% on the gold coins. This is over industry standard which is roughly a 20% charge. The market has doubled since I initially invested and three years later after the price of gold doubling and the cost of silver nearly trippling, my account is worth less than my inital investment. If the market didn't go up as well as it did over the last few years I would actually be looking at a substantial loss in my investment, a roughly 30%-40% loss.
I brought this issue up immediately after my initial investment my statement was showing a 35% loss, I spoke with a "Jeremy" who became quite irate with me because I was loudly asking why my account was showing 35% less than my initial investment. Jeremy told me that I was wrong, that I just didn't understand how the metal market worked. Long story short I was charged a premium of 61.29% above the spot price of gold when I should have paid only 10%, I was overcharged 51.29%. I was charged 96.49% above the spot price of silver. Based on a 20% premium for silver I was overcharged 76.49%. THESE PEOPLE ARE WOLVES IN SHEEP CLOTHING, PREYING ON INVESTORS. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE.
In the several conversations we had with Ms. Bancroft to address her concerns, it came to our attention that she is being coached by a representative at a competing precious metals retailer. They have advised her to file complaints, write reviews, and make threats in exchange for a financial gain of $310,000 so she can then purchase through them. Unfortunately, Ms. Bancroft’s concerns stem from information that has been deliberately manipulated for financial gain. Regardless, we took her concerns seriously and reviewed her account thoroughly and found that her accusations are grossly false.
Every aspect of Birch Gold Group’s operations is guided by integrity and transparency. Our business model, compliance requirements, and the transaction documentation processes prevent the circumstances alleged by Ms. Bancroft from occurring. After performing a thorough investigation into her account, we can confirm that she has not lost money and, in fact, has made gains on her investment. Additionally, we can confirm that the fees Birch Gold Group made is not the 50% to 75% that she is claiming but are in fact much lower and within the range disclosed in our Transaction Agreement that Ms. Bancroft signed. To confirm, Birch Gold Group communicates pricing at least two independent methods prior to a customer making a purchase. For example, we communicate pricing through the Transaction Agreement that Ms. Bancroft signed, and it is also reviewed and confirmed on a recorded line.
If part of Ms. Bancroft’s concerns stem from the values her custodian is reporting, we are happy to reeducate Ms. Bancroft. IRA custodians value metals at spot price, but physical precious metals have a value above spot/melt price. Those claiming to be experts in the precious metals industry, like the imposter Ms. Bancroft is being coached by, are well aware that this is how custodians value metals and have a moral obligation to accurately educate their customers.

Finally we were convinced to make our first purchase of gold and silver from BG! We were treated like VIPs. I was encouraged and grateful for the information I received from Sam who explain to me in detail information that greatly concern me. I am very hesitant when investing monies to any organization. However, after speaking with Sam, his knowledge of precious metals and the various ways of investing gave me comfort and ease to proceed with process. Once the funds had been received and the order was being locked in via recorded telephone call; Jake ** (my metal specialist) noticed Silver had gone down in value since the order was originally placed. He then told me he will adjust the order where the funds secured allowed for more metals to be obtained. He took the extra 10 minutes to adjust the order to maximize my value. I had been researching the advantages of transferring some of our IRA accounts to gold when I saw an advertisement for Birch Gold. I then saw another by a podcaster that I respect. After discussing with my wife, I contacted Birch. During the course of this transaction period, we spoke with three different gentlemen. All were very friendly, professional and helpful. I was most impressed with our hour long conversation with Phillip Patrick. He is extremely well versed on economics, history and the value in making good investments.
What impressed me most was later learning Mr. Patrick’s status. If you Google his name, he is all over YouTube doing interviews with the top names in the field of business and economics. We are not wealthy people and I would consider our portfolio rather small. The fact that Phillip spent an hour of his time explaining the benefits of gold and silver with us was quite impressive.
