I would like to take a moment to say that I have been with Birch Gold now for several months. They have been open and honest with me on questions I had concerning me as a new investor in the field of precious metals with them. Staff members have always answered any questions I’ve had regarding the markets and what I can expect in years to come. I started working with Birch Gold Group about four years ago when rolling over my mutual fund to a gold and silver traditional IRA. Believe me, I have never been surer about getting out of the stock market. When I tried to roll over the amount, I was met with a great deal of push back from my former "holder." On 6-12-2026 I rolled over my 401k at a value of $131,414.33 and when I received my first quarterly statement from Equity Trust Company my account was valued at $87,005.75. ((-$44,408.58)33% of my money was gone) I was mad to say the least. I called Guy ** at Birch gold, and he told me that was "Spot value" of the metal (Equity Trust uses spot) and the coin value was approx. $134,000.00 (Up from $131,414.00). I believed him. He also told me that I should call to get actual value whenever I want it. Every time I called over the years They manipulated value of my account got closer to the spot price, I assume so that could steal more from me. I found that is true.
When choosing the coins he told me that the ones he choose for my account had the highest yield. What he failed to mention is that did not apply to me selling them back but for them selling them to me. He did tell me that they like to buy them back but not that they would offer below spot. So, I expected that $131,414.33 would be divided by $87,005.75 = 1.51% I could then multiply "Equity Trust" Account value "metal spot value" by 1.51% and that is the true cash value. I looked at the statement period ending 3/31/2026 $236,944.88 multiplied by 1.51% equals $357,786.76 I called and got (Eric) at birch gold, and he told me my account actual Cash value was approx. $247,000 I was furious to say the least. Then he offered to buy my account coins back below spot at $229,000.00.
I started to check things out and found out that I was charged 20% up to 87% markup when I started this. Over the years they were able to work the numbers from an 87% gain down to 8% markup of which “They need to make money” they take on the buy back. My example is the highest markup. Statement ending/Receipt 6/12/2023 Silver Australian Florin 2oz quantity 336 $83.14 $28,101.32 87% over spot. Statement ending 9/30/2023 Silver Australian Florin 2oz quantity 336 $44.38 $14911.68 Spot price. Statement ending 3/31/2026 Silver Australian Florin 2oz quantity 336 $150.18 $50,761.52. 5/22/2026 Silver Australian Florin 2oz quantity 336 $162.00 $54.432.00 quoted value 8% over Spot. But they will buy back at below Spot saying that “They need to make money.” LOL. These guys are thieves.
Please help me understand how they are to change the markup high 87% when selling to you. Then 3 years later telling you the coin is only worth approx. 5% over spot. Then on the buy back offer telling me “They need to make money” and offering well under spot. I am looking for help with whoever needs to be contacted to start an investigation into Birch Gold group for unethical and criminal practices.

You purchased from us on June 12, 2023, and since, we’ve maintained an open line of dialogue with you as we do with all customers. In fact, we spoke to you on May 28, 2026, during which you confirmed you were satisfied with the purchase and the information provided to you.
Let’s address the inaccuracies in your statements regarding pricing and markups. Your purchase did not have an 87% markup. The spread on your transaction was about 20%.
Prior to the transaction, both in writing and verbally, and throughout our ongoing commitment to customer care, we explain our pricing structure, including key terms and definitions so customers can make informed decisions. One of these key terms is “spread”, which refers to the difference between the wholesale cost of acquiring the metals and the price at which they are sold to you.
Regarding your values shown in your IRA custodian’s portal: if your custodian, Equity Trust Company, displayed a value that was different than your original purchase price, this is due to their valuation method, which is based on spot price. This is a standard reporting practice and does not indicate your “money being gone” or wrongdoing. For further clarification, we recommend reviewing the educational materials provided by Equity Trust which explains how these values are calculated. The allegations that we manipulated values to “steal more from you” is false and baseless. Our revenue is realized only at the point of sale, and we don’t charge ongoing fees or make any money on customers’ liquidations. As such, there is no incentive to provide inaccurate values, and even if there were, our integrity standards would require us to provide accurate information. Values change throughout time because of different factors, including market fluctuations.
Birch Gold does not buy back metals itself, nor do we profit from liquidating customer metals, as mentioned above. When a customer sells metals, we help facilitate the transaction by acquiring bids for the customer’s metals in the secondary market. Those values reflect what wholesale parties are willing to pay and are subject to market conditions. We have no control over these prices, and we have no financial incentive whatsoever to shortchange customers. We simply facilitate the transaction, as discussed in detail.
We have attempted to reach you by phone and email to address your concerns but have not received a response. We remain available and willing to discuss this further in hopes of resolving your concerns.

Birch Gold is a lot better than Hartford Gold. Customer service-wise and incentives. If only I know a year ago to invest with them rather than the competitor, I would have done so. I recommend Birch Gold all the way!! They're no sharks neither will they make you feel obligated to buy! Trust me! This is not the end Birch! You'll forever have my business and recommendations.

Based on our experience our message is “DO NOT trust these people”. We transferred a portion of our retirement savings to invest in gold and silver as a way to diversify. Since we are not experts in the precious metals market, we relied on the guidance of their reps. We were encouraged to purchase their ¼ oz. gold and silver coins, because these coins traded at higher values. The rep claimed to be personally invested in them as well. What we later discovered was deeply disturbing. These coins do not appear to have any unique or widely recognized market demand outside of what Birch presents. There is no transparent way to independently verify the claimed value of these coins online, leaving customers dependent on the company’s word. More concerning were the fees. We were charged approximately a 64% premium on gold coins and an 82% premium on silver coins.
When we later inquired about liquidation, those premiums had dropped dramatically—to about 18% for gold and 9% for silver. In other words, a significant portion of the value we were led to believe existed had effectively disappeared. The result was a significant loss in the value of our investment, even though the gold market had risen by 55% and the silver market by 145% during the same period. They took advantage of the trust we placed in them and ended up pocketing roughly 40% of our retirement savings. They appear to be specifically targeting older, conservative individuals nearing retirement—people who can least afford to lose that kind of money.
They are endorsed by several well-known conservative figures. I want nothing to do with any of them. It’s hard to believe these endorsers are unaware of what’s happening, which makes their continued support deeply concerning. Whether it’s willful ignorance or financial incentive, it reflects poorly on their judgment and character. Honestly, it’s difficult to say what’s more disappointing—actions of Birch, or the people who continue to promote them despite everything.
We appreciate the opportunity to respond and clarify the concerns raised in this review. As we do with all customers, we disclosed pricing, explained how Ms. Lori’s IRA custodian would report values, and went over product options with her before she made a purchase. Ms. Lori appears to be using identical language provided by a competitor. We believe the competitor is coaching customers to complain with the intent to damage Birch Gold’s reputation and in the hope that customers will liquidate their metals and repurchase with them.
Ms. Lori made two purchases on June 3rd, 2025. She called six months later, on March 2nd, 2026, and stated, “I called around and talked to two dealers. One told me these coins are only special to Birch; the other told me he has never heard of them.” Ms. Lori purchased 1/4 oz Gold Liberty Britannia’s, 1/4 oz Silver Liberty Britannia’s, 1 oz gold bars, and 1 oz silver bars. A quick Google search reveals that multiple gold companies sell and advertise these popular IRA-compliant metals. The gold coins she referenced had an average retail price at the time of purchase of between $1,250 and $1,350, in line with what she was charged for her gold coins. Regarding the silver coins she purchased, a quick Google search will also show that, at the time of her purchase, their retail price ranged between $20 and $30 each, and the silver coins she purchased were less than $20. The mathematical error here appears to be comparing what was purchased against the spot price of the metals. The spot price is not what we—or any other precious metals retailer—pays for metals. Spot price does not equal cost. Our spreads are based on the retail price quoted, not the spot price.By way of example, below are current retail listings relative to spot price found in just a few minutes of a basic web search. In no way does this indicate premium.
• 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf’s (JM Bullion) — retail listings above spot commonly appear in the ~30%–47% range; many dated products (e.g., 2022) may be out of stock.• Peace Silver Dollar 2025 Uncirculated Coin (U.S. Mint) — retail listing above spot can exceed 100% (example observed: ~111.65%); older-year products (e.g., 2022) may not be available.
• America the Beautiful 5 oz silver bullion coins (Money Metals) — retail listings above spot can vary widely (examples observed: ~37.64%–81.53%).
• 2023 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin (U.S. Mint) — retail listing above spot can exceed 100% (example observed: ~124.20%).
Regarding the claim about the liquidation of metals, this statement is misleading at best. When a customer requests to sell their precious metals, we contact wholesalers and obtain buyback prices and present the highest buyback price to the customer. We don’t control buyback prices, nor do we profit from these transactions. We have no financial incentive whatsoever to shortchange customers. All these details have been clearly communicated to Ms. Lori. Additionally, it’s important to note that Birch cannot (indeed, no one can) purchase metals from the wholesaler at the offered wholesale buyback price. Bids are always lower than ask pricing. If it were possible to purchase at bid, we would happily use this price as the basis for our cost.
We take issue with the accusation that we “target older conservative individuals.” Such a slanderous statement is unfounded given that we provide services to a wide range of individuals across many age groups and do not “target” anyone.Finally, we provide information and education to help customers make informed decisions based on their own goals, preferences, and interests. We don’t promote or pressure customers toward any specific product. Instead, customers make their own decisions after they have all the information they need. We strongly encourage all customers to conduct their own research, compare product types (bullion vs. fixed mintage), and ensure their goals align with any purchase before making a final decision.

I have My IRA through Birch Gold for years now , it is doing very well. It’s is in gold coins, bars, stuff like that. birch Gold took care of the transfer from my IRA assets into gold. It went smooth with no problems with the IRS and it’s being stored in the Texas precious metals depository. I made that decision and I feel like it’s a good one because the government keeps printing money and and now I’m in a safe, investment. Physical gold continues to be one of the best investments to secure a hedge against inflation in the devaluation of the US dollar Gold has been a safe investment for 6000 years. My experience with purchasing products from Birch Gold was great. I made contact with the company via telephone and was immediately transferred to a sales representative. Our journey began by watching Phillip Patrick on RAV, Steve Bannon’s War Room show. We were so impressed by him talking about Birch Gold. I am a first time Gold buyer. My desire was to purchase and hold the physical gold. Because of my personal desire to hold the physical gold, I did not know who to trust when dealing in the amount of gold that I preferred to purchase. I heard about Birch Gold by listening to the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton radio show. I was encouraged and grateful for the information I received from Sam who explain to me in detail information that greatly concern me. I am very hesitant when investing monies to any organization. However, after speaking with Sam, his knowledge of precious metals and the various ways of investing gave me comfort and ease to proceed with process. I had been researching the advantages of transferring some of our IRA accounts to gold when I saw an advertisement for Birch Gold. I then saw another by a podcaster that I respect. After discussing with my wife, I contacted Birch. During the course of this transaction period, we spoke with three different gentlemen. All were very friendly, professional and helpful. I was most impressed with our hour long conversation with Phillip Patrick. He is extremely well versed on economics, history and the value in making good investments.
What impressed me most was later learning Mr. Patrick’s status. If you Google his name, he is all over YouTube doing interviews with the top names in the field of business and economics. We are not wealthy people and I would consider our portfolio rather small. The fact that Phillip spent an hour of his time explaining the benefits of gold and silver with us was quite impressive.
