I had a OneLife Fitness gym membership for a year and a half and when it came time to cancel - it began to feel like an episode of Friends except a lot less funny and way more frustrating. "Cancel in person" - drive to the gym, no "Cancel on the phone" - call and deal with this hideous automatic system to be told to "Cancel in Writing" and you get redirected 100 times until you owe another annual fee. When you refuse to pay it, they hit you with fee after fee and multiple robocalls until you can't stand it anymore and you just pay them to get off your back.
Everything positive about the gym has been subtracted from the frustration of dealing with ABC Fitness/Financial Services. Everyone you speak with is named Ben and has the same accent but they aren't the same person. They will send you to a robo dialer to enter your card information and the amount won't be right and you'll call back to speak with another Ben who acts like they didn't just speak with you 5 minutes ago. I'll never sign up for another gym that uses ABC Financial/Fitness again.

I had a gym membership with Gold's Gym and I later moved 20 miles away. I stopped going to the gym for several months and finally called ABC Financial requesting to cancel my gym membership and stop membership fees from being debited from my bank account. Customer service informed me that ABC Financial could not accept my request to cancel my membership over the phone and that I would have to request to cancel my membership in writing and mail it to their corporate office. I sent a my written request to ABC Financial and they still continued to debit my account. I had to contact my bank to dispute the charges and block/stop ABC Financial from withdrawing monthly fees from my checking account.
ABC Financial started sending me collection bills after they could no longer charge my account. I called ABC Financial again to dispute the collection and prevent them from potentially ruining my credit. Customer service informed me that my written request was never received and informed me that I would have to send a 2nd request in writing and advised me to mail it certified. I contacted ABC Financial a third time to speak to a different representative hoping to reach someone fair and reasonable.
The third representative I spoke to was actually professional and understanding. She reported that she was able to find my written request which had been received months prior. This was contrary to what the previous representative reported. Thankfully this rep finally cancelled my gym membership and stopped the new collection charges.
I did some research and found out that ABC Financial Services has been accused of violations under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). According to the BBB**, ABC Financial Services' financial disclosure and debt collection practices have been the subject of hundreds of consumer complaints. In the past 3 years, 707 complaints have been filed with ABC, 516 of which were about billing and collection issues. Consumers have also accused ABC of poor customer service and unethical and fraudulent billing practices. Lawsuits have additionally been filed against ABC Financial alleging FDCPA violations in at least two U.S. District Courts since 2007.

I was 2 seconds too late for the $1 down 1 free month with EOS fitness here in West Jordan, Utah. Just got off the phone with them. Apparently I signed up with my $1 down but didn’t get the rest of the deal. So now they want $82.50 in 2 weeks. The $50 annual fee on top of the $26.99 ‘black’ membership. And they said there will be another $15 fee from ABC Finc/fitness if I don’t make the payment and there’s nothing they are willing to do about it. I don’t even want to know how bad it’s gonna be when I eventually need to cancel the membership. Please do not charge me additional fees and please honor your one month free deal. I know you will be looking for my account details in a canned response about one month from now.

I canceled my membership Feb 4 Powerhouse, sent email they were actually were supposed to refund me. The billing company I knew was sketchy because she was yelling at someone or something in the background. Come March 11th I get debited for $49.49. I call I. And they said, "Oh it’s a 30 day notice." So when someone cancels and they say I’m not coming back their reply is “use the gym on us” just so they can continue to bill. So I called the gym manager. I told him, "Why are you using this company? You guys are going to get yourself in trouble," he said “well during Covid it wasn’t the billing company fault when we kept billing and everything was closed, it was our fault and we took the lawsuits“. I’m sitting there like, "Wow you are actually proving my point." So I’m filing complaints with attorney state general and consumer financial bureau.
At this point it’s not the money it’s the fact they are doing this to everyone and basing the validity of what’s right on a contract that they only voice “cancel anytime“ on. Guys I put a stop payment and also look below at the replies they always say “unfortunately I couldn’t find your account“ so it looks like they replied but they really aren’t solving anything. My bank reversing the charge as well. Ask any gym do the use these people before joining.

I joined Crunch Fitness where I live and I have had my membership since 2019. I recently requested to cancel my membership and they require a 30 day notice? A 30 day notice? Why? It's not really month to month, cancel anytime. They don't really explain this when you sign up, so based on when this is requested you may find yourself paying for an extra month even when you want to cancel the month you're in. I have used another gym prior to using this one and again sneaking an extra month from people is just wrong.

If I could give zero stars I would. I signed up with Anytime Fitness and was told that should I want/need to cancel that I could and they could waive the fees. I have contacted them twice now and the staff at my local gym are no help and no one from corporate ever gets back to me, that is when I can even get to leave messages/speak to someone. I haven’t attended the gym In months which they can see but they still refuse to let me out of my contract despite me being unhappy with the services I’m over paying for.
This is a gym membership, it should not be this hard to cancel. The staff at this gym are rude and completely unhelpful and give me a new stipulation every time I try to cancel. I shouldn’t have to pay the rest of my membership if I’m not receiving the service I’m paying for, regardless of reasoning. They care more about money than their customers. I should have listened to all other reviews about Anytime Fitness instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt. They’ve earned the trash reputation that they have.

DO NOT join any gym that uses this company for its billing. They purposely make it VERY DIFFICULT to terminate a membership. And don't just take my word for it...read the other reviews here. It benefits the gyms because then they're not considered "the bad guys" when you can't terminate - basically this company does their dirty work. They're impossible to get on the phone and their customer service is abysmal. Watch - they'll respond to this with some robotic, pre-canned response. If I could give 0 or negative stars, I would.

Both instances resulted in being continuously charged after cancelation. When contacted they were zero help. Even after the local gym had assured me that the membership was canceled. This company is trash. I would not voluntarily use them under any circumstance. When I signed up for a membership at a new place, the first thing I did was ensure that they were not part of this company. No matter what gym I go to, I will ensure that they do not use this company. I know they changed their name ABC Fitness Solutions. I will ensure that I stay away from them forever. It has always been a mess that resulted in time consuming efforts to get money back that I owed. They are the worst company I have ever been sucked into using.

Their automated system provides multiple calls a day that is borderline harassment in my opinion. I will never in my life use any service this company provides ever again.

I would not do business with this company. If you move and need to cancel your gym membership, they make you "prove" that you have moved by means of new home ownership, lease agreement, or utility bill. If you don't have those items, you have to have proof by 2 other means: letter from current employer on company letterhead, credit card statement, PO change of address, and/or bank statement. As for me and my hubby, we live in our semi truck going coast to coast since we became "empty-nesters". They will treat you like a child in order to cancel. I would highly recommend not signing any contracts for gym memberships.

I have never had such terrible customer service in my life. I am moving and need to cancel my gym membership. The terms of my contact say that I need to provide proof I am moving more than 15 miles away from any EDGE location (which I am.) I provided proof of this with a signed lease that proves I am moving far enough away to cancel. I emailed ABC and guess what they said? This is not sufficient proof to cancel. I send ANOTHER copy. No response. I called maybe 4 times. Each time they told me that I needed to provide a lease for proof. I ALREADY DID!! MULTIPLE TIMES!! And no one responds to my emails.
I have never seen such a fraudulent organization in my entire life. I will never sign up for any gym that uses ABC again and I will be telling everyone I know not to. What a freaking joke of a company. This cannot be legal. I literally meet the qualifications to cancel and they still won’t let me. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A GYM THAT USES ABC FINANCIAL!!! My agreement number is ** for anyone who wants to look into this.

This company is the worse, their customer service reps are unskilled and they lack the ability to deal with people. My membership with The Edge Fitness expired several months ago, they have given me the hardest time to cancel and stop charging me. I have been emailing for several months now requesting to cancel, they continue to say that according to the terms of my agreement I must inform them 30 days prior, which I have been doing like I said for several months now. At this point there is no agreement, which I was told by my local GYM.
On 3/15/21 they acknowledged my request to cancel and credited my account with the money that was due. Today 4/23/21 I find myself with a new charge and arguing the same nonsense again. They have taken money without my permission, having me go through the whole process of calling my bank to dispute the transaction and blocking them from taking any more money. It’s been over a month since my last communication with them and the processing of the credit. Now I find myself again fighting the fact that my account should be canceled, and they once again requesting a 30 day notice. It is an unethical and fraudulent practice. Do not do business with them, they are the worst!!

Beware of predatory membership practices perpetrated by ABC Financial. My wife signed me up for a gym membership about 4 years ago. The pandemic happened, gyms closed and I moved from Hayward to Concord about 30 minutes apart, almost a year ago. I requested my wife to close the account which she did. I get an email months later saying that the gym was unable to bill the card that was on file... Of course not. We closed that bank account when we moved the area.
I call and they inform me that my wife, who started the account, was denied the ability to close the account because she is not the primary account holder. It's her card and she started the account. They then tell me I need to have a 9 digit pin number to go online to fill out a form, I need to give 30 day notice, will be charged throughout this process. Oh and by the way you can't cancel unless you pay the charge. The gyms themselves are disgusting as well so no wonder they stoop to these type of practices. STAY AWAY FROM FITNESS 19 AND ANYTHING ELSE ASSOCIATED WITH ABC FINANCIAL.

I have been a member of Fitness 19 since March 2019. A few months back I noticed that they charged me an annual fee (which was due in June 2020) and one month of dues charged to my CC last November, even though the fitness center in Dublin CA was closed during this time. I immediately disputed this transaction. The Dublin gym only re-opened in March 2021. Last month I requested that Fitness 19 cancel my membership. They told me to contact the ABC customer care center. I did this by requesting a cancellation via email.
ABC told me that my account was in pending cancelled status for the next 30 days and I would responsible for any payments during this time. I made two monthly payments during this time online, but these transactions were never processed (as when I called customer care they tell me that I still owe two months of dues in order to complete the cancellation). I don't know why this is so complicated for them to figure out. Either I pay online or by phone...you guys should process the transaction. I have not had any such problems with any other fitness club. Please fix these issues.

In March, the Gold's Gym nearest my house closed due to COVID-19. I got an email from our location manager saying that we would not be billed during the pandemic. The location has never reopened. And, I wasn't billed by Gold's Gym anymore. We made the mistake of putting my membership on our debit card (which we pay for everything with), and didn't notice until December that ABC Fitness had started billing us for gym membership - starting in July. Granted, we should have noticed the billing, but we just didn't.
There was a phone number for an ABC Fitness that was associated with my membership, but it was in a town 45 minutes from my house. When I tried calling that phone number, it would give me options to talk to someone about my billing - but it wasn't at the local club, but at the corporate office. Those people were amazingly horrible.
They told me that I had been reassigned to a different club when Club Fitness bought the Gold's Gym account. But, when I asked if they thought it was fair that I was being assigned 45 minutes away from my home without my consent. They said that it was part of the membership agreement I signed. But, I have never seen any kind of agreement with Club Fitness or ABC Fitness. I've never driven by one to my knowledge. The first rep I talked to told me that I had to go to the location where I was a member (45 minutes from my house - and hour from my work) and cancel my membership. When I asked for the number for that club, no one ever picks up (I tried to confirm someone was there so that I could make sure to be able to cancel it). When I was able to talk to a manager at billing, They said that the only other thing I could do was write a certified letter to a P.O. Box in Arkansas.
When trying a few more times to call this club, I actually was able to talk to a front-desk worker who put me in contact with a manager. He told me that I don't have to go to that specific club; I could go to any of them in person and cancel my membership. So, I was able to find one far closer to my house. And, they were kind and understood how stupid it was for me to have to do that.
Today, I got an email from customer care saying that I was going to finally get my membership cancelled, but that I would still get billed for the next cycle. When I told them that this was wrong, they said that it was per my agreement. So, not only am I not going to get refunded for a membership I've never used (or even known about - and wrongfully assigned), I was not given accurate information about how to cancel my membership, and finally when I was able to cancel my membership, I'm still having to pay more!!!!
My understanding of the way our economy works is that people pay for goods/services rendered. I've never once stepped foot in any of their clubs, but they feel like they can keep charging me - simply because they bought my account. And, as the rep said to me when I was able to talk to an accounts department supervisor, that if my account was transferred to another state, then my agreement requires me to go to that one. It's amazing that this company is allowed to stay open.

I have a membership with Reston VA Crunch Fitness (#~99877). I froze my account in 2018 during my pregnancy, thinking I might be going back to the gym at some point and no longer under contract. They charged me $25 annual fee in 2019 and again in 2020. I thought about cancel my membership in 2020 but then COVID hit so that's not the first thing I am thinking to do. In January 2021, I got a call saying I need to update my billing as they can't charge me the $25 annual fee as my credit card on file expired, which reminded me to call them to cancel my membership. They said in order for me to cancel my membership, they have to "unfreeze" my account, and charge me for one more month ($39.99).
I told them I am not going back to the gym during the pandemic where CDC requires me to wear face mask in public space and it's not recommended to go to a gym. Then the person at the gym said well now gym is one of the safest place for me to go (REALLY???? Safer than staying at home?). Plus I am also no longer in VA - I am currently in Georgia. So why I am paying for something I am not going to use???? Who would have to pay one more month to cancel? I have never heard that. Isn't that force payment? Today, I called again and they said I have to pay the $25 annual fee as well, for the year that I am calling to cancel. This is the worst company I have dealt with. They never sent me a statement and expect me to pay (without a statement???). I am NEVER going back again and will tell anyone I know not to sign up for any gyms under this company. I hope they get a class action lawsuit and go bankrupt.

Out of the blue I started getting text message about "my bill" with Work Out World, I deleted the texts and thought them to be some phishing tactics from some scammers. Then I started getting calls from this number 1 833-311-0847, I answered and the prompt said that it was from Work Out World. I never heard of them, I don't know them, and I never had anything to do with them. I hang up and looked up the company online and found that they had a club not far from where I live. So I called them and asked them why would their company call me? I was never a client of Work Out World.
The person who answered the phone informed me that WOW bought Boston Sports Clubs and since I must have a membership with BSC they will continue to charge me. I patiently explained that I did not have an active membership with BCS. I did in the past but I cancelled it more than a year ago, even before Covid19 hit us. He looked me up in their computer and simply said that I show as having an active membership. I repeated again that I did NOT. I am someone who watches their expenses very closely and would not have open and pay for a membership I don't use. He explained to me again that I still have to go through a cancellation process as if I had an active membership with WOW. This is nothing but a SCAM.
I looked into what happened to BCS and found out that they went bankrupt and I was not a member when that happened. Still WOW/ABC Financial is trying to force down my throat that I am a member in their club. I am NOT and I am outraged to have to spend time and energy to defend myself against a greedy/nasty/scammer of a corporation. It is a shame and if anyone want to sue WOW for such illegal practices I am happy to join efforts with them. This is simply NOT acceptable!

I have never had such a difficult time canceling membership in my life. I have been trying to cancel my Work Out World membership for years. I have sent emails, letters, and called many many times. I'm always told told my membership is will be cancelled within 30 days only to find out months later (I am no longer on this bank account) only to find out it never was. Sent multiple emails todays and decided to call. Was told by a customer service agent that my cancel request was being processed only to find out it wasn't. Was told by the agent that they received my email only to find out from a supervisor that they can't see if an email request was sent. I just don't understand how companies like this can get away with this for so long.

My membership was cancelled on Aug 27. I got confirmation from ABC Fitness club saying Aug 27 is my last payment. But they took money on Sep 27. I asked my bank to take it back. Then I got collection notice letter at end of Oct saying my Sep and Oct fee is past due. I contacted my club again and got confirmation again that my membership was cancelled on Aug 27. I also called ABC Financial hotline and emailed to membersupport. Email, no response. The lady over the phone told me they could not help and we need to contact the club. Again, I got another collection notice today saying my three-month fee and interest charge is past due. Very annoying. I will not deal with any fitness clubs which are using ABC Financial. One day I get a call from ABC Financial credit reporting department requesting me to pay $1,000 for "past due payments". I explained to lady on the phone that I was a student and had moved away from the gym. I had notified Best Fitness in June and they told me to call ABC to cancel. I called them numerous times, and never got someone to answer. They literally make it impossible for you to cancel. So then I got charged for two months and I disputed the charges on my card, and won! Okay, I assumed they got the dispute and canceled my membership. I was not charged anymore and was not contacted by anyone from Best Fitness or ABC. So when I got this call asking for $1,000 I was very confused. I asked why and she said I was overdue on the last 4 months. June 2020-October 2020.
My gym membership at Best Fitness is $20/month.... That's equal to a $900 late fee, for 4 months.... She would not listen to my reasoning at all and demanded the payment be made on the spot or it would be filed on my credit history. She even tried to negotiate with me stating that if I made the full payment now it would only be $800. I couldn't believe what was happening. I asked her why no one called me when they saw the charges disputed and she said "we don't have the time to call".... okay so how are you gonna call me now and ask for a thousand dollars. ABC is trying to take advantage of people DURING A PANDEMIC. Never dealt with worse people in my life. Never written a bad review before.

Today I walked into the gym of which I have been a patron for over 10 years because of “ABC Financial Services” aka “ABC Fitness Solutions” and the horrible job they do at treating paying customers. My payment going back to the day I signed up for the gym was always due on the 10th of the month. Starting in March of this year, my gym was closed due to the ongoing health crisis. Payments/invoices seemed to be suspended for the months that the gym was closed. Once the gym reopened, I was seeing payments due. Perfectly reasonable. However what is not reasonable is that they change due dates without informing you, e.g., you do not get any statements or invoices by mail or email.
Today I was notified by email that there was a problem with payments on my account. Apparently, since I sent my last payment on Oct 16th for the annual fee, my account was charged a monthly payment due on the 25th, which didn’t get paid because I saw no balance due as of the 16th. Why are you able to notify me when you consider payments to be past due but not to inform me of changes to critical account information?
So I called their hotline. Completely automated, slow to navigate, and you have no option to enter options or account information by inputting numbers. You just have to talk to the machine and hope for the best. Finally, after having to go through all their menus I ask for a representative and the automated system tells me that there is nobody taking calls and now I can’t talk to somebody to help with my account. At 3 pm EST on a Tuesday.
Even though I never really had a bad experience at my gym, I went straight there after not being able to resolve this over the phone and asked for my membership to be terminated, as I will never support any gym that uses ABC to handle their finances ever again. My request was accepted and processed by the gym, and I received documentation that my membership is indeed canceled. On the portal where I pay balances, I see that the account status is canceled and there is no balance due. Since I do not trust this company, I am going to be checking this portal to see that it stays that way.

I called and after providing my account number and numerous other information to prove it was me, spoke to a customer service operator and got the canned response. I requested a supervisor. Kathy got on the phone and was again unable to assist me and the person who she needed to talk to was "out today" and as their rules state you must send a signed, certified letter. Done that twice.
Last night I got a call from them reminding me about my "overdue balance". How about you find the two letters I sent and CANCEL. Today I got an email from Anytime Fitness, who mind you kept billing me even when closed due to COVID and was told they needed to pay their rent, about owing them money. If I could give no stars I would. I am in IT and to expect people to use the post office in this day and age to cancel something is archaic. This is the worst company I've ever dealt with.

This is the contract billing agency for the GYM chain Anytime Fitness. They recently changed names from ABC Financial to ABC Fitness Financial. Don't be fooled into signing up for a gym membership at any of these locations. My 83 year old mother in law (with Dementia) was supposed to sign up for the Medicare program Silver Sneakers. They convinced her she needed a full gym membership instead of the Medicare covered portion. They have been billing her for an unknown amount of time, and she hasn't used the facilities in over 6 months. Her disease has progressed so far that she is unable to exercise or use a facility at all, and is now stuck in a contract with this company. They require a note from the doctor, 30 days notice, and a $100 cancellation fee. It's cheaper for us to continue paying the monthly fee for the duration of the contract, rather than cancel. Poor excuse for a company with the worst standards for customer service.

They are not cancelling my membership with the cases increasing all over the place. Just taking the money from my account every month. Such a worst customer care and support. Original review: I joined the edge fitness, Norwalk CT just 2 months before covid 19 and the gym was completely closed due to the pandemic. I am totally not comfortable going back to the gym now when the pandemic is still going on. I tried to contact them via mail and phone to cancel but they need a medical reason to cancel. I totally don't understand. There is an ongoing global pandemic and they expect me to take a risk at my life by going to gym. I have older people to take care of at home and can't risk it for any reasons. I contacted them in advance but no use. Why don't they make a proper measure during these unexpected horrible times? I reached out to ABC last week as my membership contract only has two months left, so I emailed them and explained I had two billing cycles left and would like to cancel AFTER the last two billing cycles.
Each person that replies to me refuses to cancel my membership and explains that I'm under a contract, even though I clearly explained I am aware I have two payments left, I'd like to be sure my membership is canceled pending those last two withdrawals. I've had nothing but nightmare experiences dealing with ABC, so I'd like to ensure my membership is canceled so I don't incur any extra charges. Me and my fiancé signed up at our local Anytime Fitness for a 3 year contract, went over the paperwork with the owner at the time of signing up. If all Anytime Fitness locations are like ours was, the gyms themselves are absolutely wonderful. It's ABC Financial that is a problem. The (at the time) owner explained to us that after our 3 year contract was up, we would be notified and IF WE WANTED TO, could either sign another yearly agreement or go month to month. So we signed the contract and moved on.
Well it's been over 3 years and we were never notified and suddenly we are on a month to month, only found this out after talking to the current owner of the location. Which he apologized, gave me the information I needed to cancel, and suggested I could inquire to ABC Financial about them refunding at least part of what I've been paying, since he could do nothing, they don't collect payments directly at Anytime Fitness, you pay ABC Financial. Which I did, now instead of cutting their losses and correcting something that happened due to one of THEIR business partners being dishonest, they decided to repeatedly tell me nothing could be done because "You signed the contract." And while that is true, they could have at least worked with me a little to correct something that was wrong.
Now if they actually manage to cancel our memberships and NOT charge me another month because even the owner of the gym said that if it wasn't exactly 30 days, they would most likely charge me again. So if you've read this far, all I have to say is that if you are signing up at a gym that's with ABC Financial, make sure the owner is ACTUALLY going over the paperwork with you, not lying to your face, cause otherwise you're going to be out a ton of money like me because ABC Financial will do NOTHING to help you.

They said I can't cancel my billing there (only sign up ironically). I had to deal with ABC direct.
I go to deal with ABC direct and I cannot cancel electronically or over the phone AT ALL. I am required to mail in "Certified Mail" to their address. I unfortunately go through this tedious process and get it in weeks before my next billing cycle. They send me an email saying they are honoring the cancellation but have to bill me the next date because it wasn't exactly 30 days in ADVANCE. I explain it's weeks in advance and I no longer even have access to the gym. No response. Purposefully have convoluted methods to cancel membership which are completely isolated/separate from the Gym itself in order to try to squeeze a few extra months of payments out of members. I should have canceled the card to stop them from processing that extra payment. Hindsight is 20/20.

I have been with my gym for several years and recently my 1 year membership was coming to an end and I paid the remaining months Off at the gym up front and then purchased another one year membership cash up front with equipment fee waived and took my cc off the account. I paid an annual equipment fee when I signed up for the first one year membership. Recently I have been receiving harassing phone calls and text messages from ABC demanding a $90 something annual equipment fee again on the membership I paid off on full. I did not sign any contract agreeing to pay an annual equipment fee twice for a one year contract.
They referred me back to the gym. I spoke with the gym. They apologized stating ABC is wrong and advised me to ignore their calls and stated they would take care of it and that many of their members are having this same issue. That was 2 weeks ago and I am still getting harassing calls. If this end up in collection and damaging my credit I will sure the gym and ABC. This is ridiculous. Several years with this gym and never had any issues like this until they recently merged with another gym.

Last month I had to place a freeze on my credit card due to a suspicious charge. During this time my $10 Crunch membership was being charged by ABC Financial who service a large portion of the health clubs in the Charlotte metro area. The $10 charge did not go through but did after 3 days when I removed the freeze from my card. I checked my statement and it showed ABC Financial charged me a $15 late fee...on a $10 charge! That's a 150% late fee charge! I called the company and they said they would remove. After 2 weeks, the charge was still on my statement. Needless to say, this will be reported to the NC State Attorney General's office because I'm sure it's unlawful. If it isn't, there should be a new law to prevent.

ABC Financial has been calling me several times a day for the past 30 days! My membership was canceled appropriately and I have documentation of such. I've called Crunch and they assured me my membership was canceled and the account would be noted. Still receiving calls as of 10 minutes ago. If ABC Financial is going to handle Crunch business they need to communicate better amongst themselves. Apparently, they don't. I have just email ABC with documentation. If the calls or any form of communication continue I will be calling the Attorney General's Office.

My experience with ABC has been AWFUL. They have an asinine cancellation policy that restricts cancellation to injury or a move of more than 25 miles away. When I submitted the paperwork to prove my new residence is greater than 25 miles away, I was denied and told my new residence is less than 25 miles away. A simple Google search proves this wrong and I have not been given any proof or evidence that it is less than 25 miles. They indicated that they would not provide me a screenshot to show this distance, proving to be a shady company. I called Customer Service and was told the cancellation department would better be able to answer my questions, but then was told that they don't take phone calls. I have never worked with a company this shady and conniving. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

I go to school in New York and upon finding out about my pregnancy I have returned home to my aunts in CT where I pay the electric bill. I was informed that the documentation is not enough to cancel my membership. They informed me I would have to show a new utility bill. They are extremely difficult. I would not recommend anyone to sign up for this gym. I should have stayed with Planet fitness which allows customers to cancel memberships hassle free.

I joined Retro Fitness back in 2013 once a gym opened by my area. This year in September, I went to cancel my gym membership. The manager at the gym was very helpful, I paid an outstanding overdue fee, and I was able to sign a membership termination with him. He assured me that I shouldn't be fined, as I would no longer be able to use the gym due to the termination of my membership. ABC Financial had already charged me for for September, so he said that would be the last due. I even got an e-mail from Retro Fitness that the cancellation form I signed.
So, imagine my surprise when ABC Financial sends me e-mails saying I have a past due balance of $49.99? I have been reading on how awful ABC Financial's business practices are, but the fact that they are still trying to charge me after the gym terminated my membership is appalling. I can't use the gym anymore, but they still want to charge me. I plan to file a complaint, this is infuriating and ridiculous.

My experience with ABC FINANCIAL was nothing short of awful. After carefully grocery shopping while on a budget I had my debit card declined. My little bit of savings were on the card so I was confused.. That's when I found a $810 charge by ABC Financial on my statement! I have 1 signed contract authorizing this company to use electric funds transfer (EFT) for my gym's monthly club membership fees of what was for $28, I pay $48 per month for my family of three to attend The Club Northwest/Kidzone.
I was charged $810 for a completely separate personal training contract - ABC Financial was not authorized to use EFT on anything other than my family's reoccurring monthly membership fee. I never missed a payment. The club was yet to respond why they felt they were authorized to use a completely separate contract to charge my personal training fees too. Fees that were FROZEN due to medical reasons. I only owed $540 but I was charged a whopping $810.. more than my rent!
10/17/19 at 1:30 pm I called ABC Financial to dispute why this was allowed to happen. The rep I spoke to was Montyna. I was told because the gym has 1 contract with my personal checking account info that the clubs allowed to make charges not signed for on my contract! She said I would need to file a dispute with my bank so I called Wells Fargo and made a claim for the unauthorized charges.
I am very upset. This financial service allowed a gym to use my EFT info to charge me for things other than what's stated on my contract - the contract is very detailed and specifies charges over $50 than usual require preauthorization by 10 days at least, if my normal monthly bill is $48.00 why wasn't I contacted in regards to a $810 bill made the same month? The fine print is very specific on what is and isn't allowed. I don't understand how this was allowed to happen and handled so poorly.

I had a 2-year contract with Anytime Fitness that worked with ABC Financial. When I began my membership, I specifically put it as NO auto renewal. I even checked the agreement to make sure it said no once it was posted online at MyICLUB.com. When I saw I was still charged after the contract ended. I called my gym (after checking once again that the auto renew said "no") and they said I had to call ABC Financial. Once I did call ABC I was explaining to the operator that my contract shouldn't have renewed and that the contract itself says, "no auto renewal." She said it says, "yes."
When I went to e-mail her the contract, I saw that it now said, "yes." I made sure so many times that it wouldn't auto renew. I checked the contract right before calling my gym just in case and it definitely said "no". My biggest mistake was not printing out the contract. I joined the same gym as a friend and the same thing happened to him. Don't ever join a gym that works with this company, what they did is completely illegal since my initials were in that contract and it was changed after the fact. Always print your contract and stay far away from this company!

Please be advised that ABC does not have the capabilities to modify the agreement you signed with Anytime Fitness in any way. Please feel free to email me your 9 digit agreement number so I can locate your account and review your agreement.

ABC Financial refers to themselves as a company that provides billing services and contract administration for health clubs and gyms. However searching online, you will soon discover that this company is categorized (including this site) as a Debt Collection Agency. There are hundreds of consumer's complaints and Lawsuits filed by various State's Attorney Generals for their unethical and shady business practices. Be prepared to waste hours of your personal time trying to get your situation resolved. In the future, I will avoid any gyms or fitness centers that use ABC Financial or their affiliates to manage their membership contracts.
My Experience: Joined the new EOS Fitness in Oceanside, CA during their pre-opening sale of $9.99. Received a "30-Days 100% Money Back" certificate as an incentive to join (don't join EOS without one!). My EOS rep, J. **, never disclosed that there would also be an annual $49 to lock in the rate even when inquired. Not cool. Not only did EOS missed their Grand Opening by 60 days but their heated pool as won't be open until July. No written communications about either delay. Thus I canceled at the Club, never having used the facility.
The Operations Mgr., J. **, gladly took my "100% Money Back Certificate" and canceled my membership at the front desk POS System. Err... wait. You take my certificate but won't give me anything in writing that I canceled? Err, no. I insisted that she make a copy of my certificate and signed it stating I am canceled. She stated that ABC Financial would refund my initial processing fee deposit of $9.99 and would not debit any monies from my credit card on file, as the account was now officially closed on EOS Fitness end. Sent that certificate with a signed statement, date and signature to ABC Financial via email (ccrequests@abcfinancial.com) as instructed in their "Cancellation and Freeze Procedures".
On what would be my FIRST payment date, the monthly due ($17.99) PLUS the annual ($49) fee rate was deducted ($67.98). Emailed 6 pages of my supporting documents but ZERO acknowledgment or response. Notified my bank to dispute the charges and they refer me to their fraud division. The bank seems to be familiar with the shady tactics of ABC Financial. Based on other reviews throughout the web, I believe this is going to be a long drawn out process as the company is unresponsive and perhaps, unethical. EOS Fitness states they have no control over how ABC Financial conducts their business. My regret is not being familiar with this company from the beginning and the numerous consumer's complaints and lawsuits. Consumers, beware.

I had a membership for three years at a local gym and decided to cancel. It was my understanding -- and was written in the contract -- that I could cancel any time after one year. They told me I can't cancel over the phone and could not explain why. The gym told me to contact ABC financial, which tried to wash hands of the problem and tell me to call the gym. After numerous attempts to cancel my membership over the phone, I told my credit card to stop making payments and I stopped going to the gym. Since then, ABC Financial has continued to charge me monthly and continued to call me claiming I owe them money. Each time I explain I canceled my membership and they told me they can't do anything about it and call the gym. It's a scam.

I moved from MA to RI in 2018. My husband went into the Canton location of Answer is Fitness to cancel my membership. He received an email confirmation from ABC financial that request was received. The 19.99 monthly fee continued to be auto deducted from my checking accounts despite calls to ABC. I was referred back to Answer is Fitness who refused to accept the email receipt as proof of cancellation.
I changed debit cards to stop the withdrawals and the general manager Dan ** insisted my email request for immediate cancellation were not valid, so I sent request via certified mail and he still refused to stop billing because now he says I am past due. I have paid close to 300.00 in the past 10 months and despite emails, calls, a certified letter and a BBB complaint (along with a social media site dedicated to the horrible billing practices) I still have no satisfactory resolution. The BBB complaint was logged on May 24. As of today, the general manager refuses to continue correspondence.

I attempted to do so, but they the prompt indicated I had to pay another enrollment fee and payment for April. I attempted to pay online and it would not accept my payment. I contacted the club directly and told Sean that I wanted to pay off the entire balance and close the account. He said he waived a late fee and my account was paid in full. In May 2019 I began getting calls from ABC saying my account was past due. I called and was told I had to pay the fee for May and my membership would not be cancelled until June. I suspect this won't end here given the confusion between the gym and ABC Financial. I guess I will join the class action lawsuit that is pending if they persist.

If the gym you are enrolling at uses ABC Financial, run, don’t walk away from there. I have tried canceling my three memberships for months and every time I have contacted ABC Financial I have received different information. The first time I went to the gym and was told they can’t do anything. I would need to contact ABC, cool. First time I contact them I am told that I need all the account numbers for the three memberships. One is my brothers which I didn’t have at the time, so I tell them his name and birthdate and offer to give my credit card number for proof that it is in fact coming from my banking account. No, they will need to speak to him, of course they don’t mind charging my account but I can’t take my card off file! So I wait until I can get the account number from him and call again. This time I am told I can’t do it over the phone but that I can write down all the accounts on a piece of paper have everyone sign it and email it to them. Done.
Next month here comes yet three more drafts out of my bank account. Today I call and I’m told that no, I can’t email them that I have to send a certified letter with everyone’s signature and bring my account up to balance in order for it to be cancelled. Not a damn person there knows what they are doing, I signed up in a matter of ten minutes and had no contract, yet I am having to jump through hoops just to cancel. I will never in my life use any company that goes through ABC Financial, they are absolutely horrid. Unless, you like giving away money and dealing with incompetent people like I previously stated RUN!!!

A new Crunch Fitness was built near me, and I signed up in their presale office last August with the understanding that it was scheduled to open in October. At that time, I paid the discounted new member enrollment fee. Club didn't open in October (fortunately, they weren't going to bill again until the club opened). Club didn't open in November. Club didn't open in December. Club didn't open in January. At that point, I rejoined my old gym. In February, voila, Crunch opens. I go into the club to cancel.
I'm told by someone at the desk that they would notify the manager but "that's all you have to do." Really? I don't have to sign anything? "Nope." Are you sure? You're just noting my account and that's it? "That's it." Eight days later, my card gets billed. I'm thinking that I missed a cutoff, so I didn't sweat it. A month later, I get notified that they tried to bill my account but my card didn't go through. I call ABC Financial, they have no record of my cancellation (surprise!) and they can't cancel, I have to go back to the club. I go back to the club, and they have no record of my cancellation.
This person tells me if I want to cancel, I have to pay $79.99 cancellation fee. At this point, I'm mad but agree to pay it, and tell them I'm not paying anything else. Next day, I get a phone call from ABC, "you need to update your billing information." Why? "Because you have an overdue dues payment AND your $89 annual fee is due." But I just paid to cancel my membership yesterday. "But your monthly payment and annual fee were due before yesterday." So I basically paid over $300 for a gym membership and never once set foot in the gym to work out. Crooks.

I had a Gym Membership with Crunch Fitness, ABC Financial is the company that handles payment processing for Crunch Fitness. There were two things I didn't like about ABC Financial. One was my oversight, the second, is bad customer service on ABC Financial. The first is, a $15.00/month gym membership also has a 'service fee' for $42 dollars, so it's not really $15 a month, this 'service fee' is clearly stated in the agreement I signed at the gym (although it is in very small print). What service fee is need to charge my card? The gym membership should included all 'service fees' that's the point of a membership.
The second, and really only, issue is, I called to cancel my account and they said they couldn't do that. So then I told them to make sure my account is not on Automatic renewal, simple request, extremely difficult for ABC Financial to follow. I have been harassed via automated messages and below board tactics to get me to pay for my new year. I somehow was charged on my credit card after the card was cancelled. Terrible, now I have to fight that with my credit card company. Are they charging other accounts as well, how did they charged my cancelled credit card? How can any gym consider this company to do their financial services? The reviews are so bad, but I'm not surprised, very shady company.

First attempt was to go into the gym where we were told we either had to come back Monday to Friday between 930 am and 500 pm to speak to a manager or we could send a certified letter. We went home and found our agreement on ABC Financial's website to get the details of where we needed to send the certified letter. We send (and paid for!) the certified letter and have confirmation it was delivered. I called ABC Financial to confirm the account was canceled and that I need to go to the gym and speak to a manager.
I read the cancellation section of the agreement to the lady on the phone and asked why they could not cancel the account when the agreement specifically said to send them the cancellation letter. She had no answer other than to refer me back to the manager at the gym. We have just passed the date where advance notice was required to avoid paying next month's fee. Sorry for this essay in advance. But I am kind of tired of writing to and looking for solutions for this company but I want to put my two cents in. I canceled with an authorized letter to ABC Financial after my contract was up and kept being charged for about 5 months after I contacted them by phone and email and mentioned how I wanted to cancel yet charges kept coming. Mind you I didn't even live near the gym anymore. Was told by two different people by phone that I would be canceled and last months' reimbursed yet they kept charging my account even overdrawing that account at times costing me 35$ fees. The only way I could stop being charged monthly was by switching banks and after that I thought they would get the hint. Instead they sent me a problem with my bank email so I called yet again to remind them I canceled and sent plenty of emails which I have saved for my records addressing the issue.
A few months pass no word from ABC Financial then suddenly I see my credit score plummet and a in collection charge of 178$. I called the collection agency and again ABC Financial to remove this fraudulent charge. Agency says nothing they can do. They are sorry and I don't even blame the employee for doing their job. I am not the type to berate another human being just doing their job answering phones so I call ABC which still tries to give me the same runaround. I am now beyond upset because me and my girl are to buy a house and can't do so because this company decided to screw me for every cent I have or don't have. I guess and it's not like they aren't aware of my situation. They sent me a text to return to my gym for 25$ Recently and have all previous charges dropped.
I am dumbfounded that they think I will travel to that gym or be their customer ever again. Then recently I receive an email that I am part of a settlement of a lawsuit brought against them for doing the same to God knows how many other customers and here I am right before Christmas trying to get through the holidays, still trying to resolve this and fix the good credit record that I used to have and took years to build and only resolution seems a lawsuit. I work in customer service and my opinion is the customer is not important to this company. Only finding a way to get every single cent of you.

When I asked for clarification, and for them to direct me to the part of the contract that I agreed to that states that supplemental documentation is required in addition to a change of address confirmation, I was told to log in to my account and find it myself. I signed up for a membership at my local gym, not a big deal. All was good w/ initial signup, etc. I was told that in the event I needed to put a freeze on the account that I would be able to do so (medical reasons, travel, etc) which I thought might come in handy since I do unexpectedly travel for periods of time. I thought this was actually a great idea and I'd be able to freeze my membership and not waste any unused days. I made a call today in an attempt to take advantage of this service, however, submitting the request would take 30 to take effect before the membership would be put on hold. Does it really take you (ABC) 30 days from my request date to put the account on freeze?
I'm not sure I understand your process and why this isn't an option to be able to utilize online? I will be traveling next week which was unexpected, thought I could save some of my time, but was advised that basically I will waste a month of my membership as I'll be back in town before the freeze will be effective. If you offer this service, then perhaps you should be a little bit more transparent about the time frame your company operates. I was told upfront this was an option but was not told there was a 30 day grace period. I certainly hope you consider this in the future, however, based on the lengthy amount of extremely poor reviews here I doubt anything will come of this. I am very surprised that the management in this gym has no compassion. I wanted to cancel my membership because of a medical condition and all they are offering me is to freeze my membership. I have to get a surgery on my shoulder and also have some spine related issues. I was advised to bring my doctor's note saying that I will not be able to work out for six months which I brought. Even then the manager is offering to freeze the membership.
My membership contract finishes in five month and my doctor's note shows that I will not be able to come to gym for six months. If my remaining contract is for five months and I am told that I cannot go to gym for six months then why my contract cannot be canceled? I have to go to rehab for a long time after surgery not to the gym. I would be getting in touch with Department Of Consumers Affairs in New York to seek some assistance and I don't recommend this gym to anyone. All they want to do is to lock you up in their complicated contracts without any compassion.

Retro Fitness of Oceanside, NY and ABC FINANCIAL SERVICES are both scam artists!! If I could give ZERO stars - I would!! First off - SCAM. My credit card numbers were in someone else’s account and after $336.89 in charges on someone’s else’s account, Retro Fitness and their third party account memberships management, ABC Financial DECLINED to issue me a refund and fix this error. I know that it was an error with their membership account services/set up and they refuse to resolve this and basically told me to, "** YOU, we are keeping your $336.89." If that’s not horrible customer service, what is?? The owners of Oceanside, NY location declined to resolve this and had ABC Financial tell me.
Apparently, ABC FINANCIAL is authorized to take our money monthly and control a membership but when there is an error, they aren’t authorized to fix it and issue a refund. Now this inconvenience has lead me to have to take legal actions and has been nothing but a headache. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen and the worst financial scam that my attorney has seen.
Beware. They offer you a deal to sign up. Then overcharge your card, their system may put your credit card info into someone else’s account and they won’t fix it. Hours of phone calls and headaches and they still refuse!!! Their offers are not worth this!!! Nothing is!!! Go to Blink Fitness or NY Sports Club!!! They would never scam like Retro Fitness has!! They could have refunded me and I wouldn’t be so distraught, but they refuse to issue my money back and leave it on an account that’s not mine!!! But keep my account in past due status meanwhile my card was charged every month for 9 months!!!

I have been trying to cancel my gym membership since January 2018 with no luck. I was under contract when I tried to cancel which was fine. I asked the rep at ABC Financial to make sure that my account was not set to auto-renew but to leave the account alone until the end of my contract. Fast forward to October 2018, I see the annual fee come out of my bank. I called and the woman I spoke to said that she would start an "investigation" to see if I qualify to have the annual fee refunded and it would take 3-5 business days and to check for an email from them. I told them that I did not care about the monthly fee that was already paid for Oct, I just wanted the annual fee refunded.
I waited 8 days and did not receive an email so I called again. I was told that I am responsible for the fee even though it is for a year that I will not have the membership as I have already cancelled. This rep sent me to a supervisor who told me that she will be doing another "investigation" to pull the original call from January to see if I really did tell them to take my account off of auto-renew. This again will take "3-5 business days." This is absolutely ridiculous. I am done chasing a resolution. Someone needs to get this resolved. As long as ABC Financial handles 10Gyms accounts, I will never renew my membership with them.

I have been attempting to cancel my membership to Anytime Fitness for MONTHS and keep getting charged. I first called the gym. They told me, over the phone, it was no problem, my membership was cancelled. I got billed again. I called ABC Financial and they told me to contact the gym. I did. Again, they apologized and told me it was cancelled. I called ABC Financial again and was told that typically the membership has to be cancelled in writing. The worker said she would review the case, refer it to her supervisor to have the previous phone record transcribed. I believe I received a call back from her but was at work and unable to answer.
I called ABC financial back today and was told I owe 60+ dollars. That's my $40 membership fee plus a fee for missed payment. I had to close my bank account and open a new one so it would stop getting charged. I finally received the email that I've had to email to cancel. This could have been handled months ago if that is what I had been told. If this is not resolved, I will be forced to take legal action.

Beware of ABC Financial's fee of $19.99 for any time your debit card is declined. They put it in their contract but it's still abusive and unfair. They are expending nothing extra for running a computerized charge of your card and extra time but they want you to pay almost a fee that is 80% of your $25 monthly membership. It's price gouging, pure and simple. I understand a late fee. I even understand an extravagant late fee but paid on the day after it's due when you run it through again is sadistic.

The Edge Fitness and ABC Financial have no integrity whatsoever. I signed up for a 12-month membership knowing I was going to be moving to an apartment with a free gym before the 12 months expired. When I originally tried to cancel I was told that I could not do so. I called about four months later to find out the exact date I could cancel my membership at which point I was informed I had actually been enrolled in a 24-month agreement, without my knowledge, but that I could buy out the contract.
I was then told that, on top of the buyout fee, I would need to pay the next month's membership fee which happened to fall on a month where an additional $50 fee was charged. I asked if this could be waived as I have not been to the gym for over four months but of course I was advised that the company could not waive the fee. In essence, what I was told was that the company would prefer not to waive the fee because it would rather take more of my money that it did not deserve than do the right thing and correct its mistake. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM.

I received phone calls from ABC and after the first conversation they told me I could just mail them the letter but I could not cancel over the phone which is insane. So I did that and still was bombarded by phone calls. After talking to someone again they told me that they couldn't process a cancellation at all. I had been a faithful member of my gym since I joined in July 2017. In July 2018 I obtained a new job about 2.5 hrs away. I attempted to cancel in person on 7/5 and was told to call ABC Financial. I submitted my notice of cancellation, sent in a copy of my new lease and paid what I thought would be my last month’s membership on 7/10. I received a confirmation email and heard nothing else. When I checked my account status I saw that I was still going to be charged on 8/10. I called and the customer service rep said that she would remove my billing information and that I would not be charged as they looked to resolve what the issue was. Then I began receiving calls and texts from the gym about my unpaid balance and they began to call my wife (a non-member) as well.
When I finally emailed ABC Financial again (this time CCing the gym) on 8/21 the gym contacted ABC Financial for me to make sure that I received a response. When ABC Financial did respond I was told there was an issue with the attachment in the email I sent on 7/10. After resubmitting the proof that I had moved I was told that my date of cancellation would be registered as 8/22 and I was still responsible for the full payments from 8/10 and 9/10 as well as the cancellation fee rather than the charges I would have paid if my cancellation date would have been registered as 7/10. To make matters worse this also applies to my son who is an add-on to my membership.

The customer service reps with ABC Financial Services are unapologetic, do not follow up and sound like they read their responses from a textbook. I have a fitness membership and pay my dues with my debit card, automatically. ABC Financial Services handles the charges. I had my personal information stolen in April 2018. I had to cancel all debit/credit card information and complete new payment information for my gym membership. Because this paperwork happened when my monthly dues were to be charged, ABC automatically charged me a late fee (I pay religiously every month). I was not aware there was a 90 day window to dispute this charge - I noticed the additional charge in August 2018 (when our annual gym dues are charged; so I was looking back at previous charges).
I contacted the gym and they informed me all financial issues are to go through ABC Financial. I contacted them on 8/14/18 and spoke with Melinta (MEN) - she put me on/off hold for 20 minutes. She finally said she can look into it and follow up with me within 3-4 days. Fast forward to today (8/28/18). No one followed up with me. I contacted ABC Financial and spoke with Amanda. She said there were no follow up notes. She said there is nothing further she can do. I asked to speak with a supervisor - she transferred me to Jessica. Again, Jessica regurgitated their policy and said there is nothing more she can do. I asked why her company policy is not listed at the gym nor provided to us when late charges are incurred. She did not have a firm answer. I am appalled at the lack of interest for their customers, especially those who have been paying month-after-month, on time and have their personal information stolen.

(Boy was I wrong) That was April of 2017, I thought my membership expired April of 2018...like any normal person would, well it's now late August and have been getting charge this whole time which I did not notice because I use my credit card regularly. I work 55 hours a week therefore don't have the time or energy to go to the gym and didn't even think I had a membership anymore anyways. Well that's not the case with this company, since noticing the maintenance fee email I tried to cancel with ABC. They told me to go to my club, Aspire to cancel. Aspire said, “We can't cancel your membership because you have a balance on your account.”
Ok well, call ABC back and explain I was unaware of the automatic enrollment after the year ended and just was just asking if they could do me this favor and waive the maintenance club fee to bring me to Zero so I can just be on my way. That is not the case, the 2 customer service associates I talked to were basically repeating the same rebuttals one might find in a rolodex of ways to get off the phone and not do anything about it!! NO compassion, just simply pay us or we will just keep charging your account on file, which seems somewhat illegal to me. Capital One's dispute person was also on the line with me but ABC Didn't know that.
I'm now on my 3rd account number with Cap 1, yes 3rd account because ABC, and Aspire like to keep you running in circles so they can collect as many maintenance and club fees as possible. They make it seem like their contract is so binding that it will take an act of God to get out of...well maybe it's something the Feds need to look into because I'm in Ohio, I believe they are in Arkansas, and repeated unauthorized charges to a credit card no matter how much the amount I believe crosses the line into theft or some sort of fraudulent activity! I'm the consumer I haven't used their services yet they will not let me out of my 1 year contract I initially signed up for that expired back in April...proceed at your own risk, I just wonder how many others have experienced the same?

I called them to cancel on June 8th 2018 and was told it would take 30 days, for what I don't know, and I would have to pay the next month's dues and would have gym access until July 8th. I told the woman, "I have to pay for the next month even though I'm not going to be here to use it?" Since it was $9.99, I wasn't going to argue. I don't understand why the 30 day wait, so they can get a few more bucks out of you? This was June 2018, then I see a charge for $34.95 from them in August. WTH?? Right before I cancelled in June I just paid the 59.00 membership fee or whatever it is.
I called them and they had no record of me calling on my account. What company does that? I asked for the supervisor who was willing to help me, I'll give them that. She said she would have to pull up the recorded calls and listen to them to see what transpired. While she did manage to see there was a phone call, I pulled up my phone records and saw that I made 2 calls on June 8. How is it the 1st person could not see I called, but the supervisor can find it? I did get an email from them that they would refund my $34.95 and that's great, but why so much hassle?
I would not want to work for a company like that knowing these business practices affect people like this and second you couldn't pay me enough to work with all the complaints and tell someone there's no record of a call...I would be so embarrassed. One last thing, if a company sees all of these same complaints, why don't they stop with these business practices? One would think that if a company's integrity was in question, they would want to fix it. I guess a buck rules over good business practices. No more gym memberships for me.

They stated that if I had moved 10 miles away instead of 9, they could have let me out for free. This is the most ridiculous policy. The auto renew of the contract is a terrible way to conduct business as well. The original contract is one thing, but then auto renewing the contract further locking you into something you may or may not want. I’m furious right now.
Further, I spoke to a gentleman named Diego at ABC Financial and he lied to me stating he had called the Anytime Fitness that I was going to, and spoke with the manager there, that the manager is the only one who could help me. Diego told me to take it up with the club as they don’t handle any waivers to their policies. The reason I know he lied to me is that I’m at the club and nobody is there. Further I know the manager and he informed me that nobody from ABC Financial had reached out to him. I am so angry that they can just take our hard earned money like this. My wife and I requested our gym membership to be frozen in May, since we like to work out outside in the summer months. They said they could freeze it for 90 days, but that we'd have to pay one more month of membership dues before the freeze would start. Doesn't seem right, but fine. We did that. However, even after the "freeze" (which I was told usually you still pay a monthly fee to freeze) went into effect, we were charged each month. I emailed to inquire about this and the gym manager apologize and refunded the charges. The gym and manager itself are great - it's ABC Financial Services that's the monster in all these situations.
After the last time our accounts were charged within the 90-day "freeze", we were so upset we decided to cancel. Well, there's no easy way to do this except send ABC an email and pray they'll respond - which they didn't. So, when we were charged a THIRD time during this freeze - we'd had it. I called our bank to have the charge rejected and placed a 'stop' on any future payments to ABC. I emailed them again - explaining the entire history and why they wouldn't be seeing any more of our money.
Now that the money was being rejected by the bank, they finally got in touch with us. Even though they didn't acknowledge our first communication to cancel, they apparently received it. And of course, if you want to cancel (just like the freeze) they require one more month of payments in order to do so. Now, just to be done with them, we paid what's supposed to be our final fees. But it doesn't end there. They now want $20 per account in late fees from the charges our bank rejected.
To sum things up, we haven't set foot in our gym since May 1. It's now end of July (not even 3 full months) and we've been charged over $260 in dues and fees when all we were originally hoping for was to pause on payments until the fall. I'm fairly certain this isn't the end of our woes with ABC Financial. But I just wanted to carry the banner like so many others and let people know this is an absolutely CROOKED company that accepts new members instantly, but will charge you hundreds of dollars and draw things out over many months for more money - just to cancel. DO NOT SIGN UP AT A GYM WHERE ABC FINANCIAL IS HANDLING THE FINANCIALS.

I see I am not the only one to subjected to these fraudulent charges. Last month we had over 1k in our business checking account, yet ABC charged us $20.50 in fees because of "an invalid card number". I'm sorry, that's theft. Invalid card numbers are a user error, or system error. Particularly when you pull the money out of the account the next month, using the same card number. I'll be filing a formal complaint with the AG office, as I'm curious to see what they think of their business practices.

ABC Financial/Club Metro USA gym canceled my gym member on 01/22/2018 for no reason. However, Club Metro/ABC Financial is still billing me to this day! I signed up for my gym membership in 11/27/2017 and it took Club Metro over 3-4 weeks to get me my gym card to check. I think that I did not have access to the gyms until 01-01-2018. I paid my sign up fee, first month, and enhancement fee. I made all of my payments on time. Club Metro canceled my membership and denied me access to all their facilities.
On 01-22-2018, Club Metro canceled my gym. I had access to the gyms for about 3 weeks. HOWEVER, ABC FINANCIAL IS STILL BILLING ME TO THIS DAY!!! I spoke to the employee at Club Metro and he told me that they ABC FINANCIAL does this to a lot of their members! In addition, this company has a 96% negative rating on BBB. This company is deploying very aggressive billing and collection practices that appear to border on outright fraud. I think someone needs to look into ABC Financial's business, billing and collection practices.

I joined Gold's Gym a year or two ago. There were no issues until Hurricane Harvey. Our home was destroyed in the flooding and we were forced to move to another area. After we were able to gather our thoughts and find a place to live that was not wet and covered with sewage we started to put together our lives. Gold's Gym wasn't the highest priority but we needed to cancel the memberships since we were located in the next town over and by the time I get off work and make my way to the general area, pick up my disabled wife and then pick up my son from school there is no way I can make it all the way over to the Gold's Gyms in my area.
Anyone who lives in Houston understand the traffic can make a short distance turn into an hour's drive. It wasn't just the inconvenience of the situation, it was also the financial burden it added to our family. After losing our homes, my daughter's car being destroyed by a hit and run driver, my son's high school being destroyed and my daughter's college being destroyed too, we thought that any community based business would understand our plight and help us. Maybe even have a heart? That didn't happen. Gold's passed the buck over to the horrible company that have hired to harass and treat their customers like garbage. They are called ABC Financial and have since found them on the net for being shady rip-off artists.
A massive disaster that destroyed a large portion of a major city obviously wasn't a good enough excuse to get out of our contract and thankfully we called when we did because they were getting ready to renew our membership without even asking. Here is the real KICKER. The woman I talked to, Jasmine **, wouldn't even allow me to stop them from renewing my UNDERAGE SON'S membership. MY SON, who is 16 years old and is not old enough to be held accountable for these sorts of contracts. He was added as my son, he is underage, his entire account is linked to mine and my credit card pays his monthly fee. But Jasmine said that she would not stop the renewal of my son's account until he called and did the cancellation himself. This isn't even legal.
I am my son's legal guardian. I want to know how many other people have been taken advantage of by these companies especially people who are vulnerable after natural disasters, health problems, etc. and how many times they have tried to make a minor sign up for adult memberships. There is no way that is legal and is unethical. Not to mention, kicking your community when it's already down doesn't make me want to ever suggest their business to anyone, ever. I will tell them to run the other way. This is inexcusable and I want out of my contract. And I want my children let out as well. Consumer Protection at the Attorney General's office in Texas will be hearing about this shortly if it's not fixed. And if any of this mess touches my credit I will hire an attorney. Haven't we been through enough since Harvey?

I contacted my gym last month to cancel my membership only to be informed they can’t actually handle that themselves. They gave me a 1-800 number. Whenever I called them to cancel - surprise surprise - she couldn’t help me either. She gave me an email address to contact. I email the company - where she informs me that I have to pay 108? Why 108 you ask - for enhancement fees (which I won’t be using) and my membership fee (which has increased since I stopped my automatic draft).
Well a month later - I check my bank account - and they have withdrawn $127. What happened to the 108? And how are you still drafting from an account that I have written proof I said you no longer had permission to draft from? I have received numerous phone calls (all saved on my answering machine) requesting new card info for my membership. Which I canceled!!! Stay far away from this company - I am contacting an attorney. Funny thing is reading all these complaints - she said an email was adequate to cancel. Yet they are telling others it has to be certified. But no worries ABC - I have those saved as well. Per the terms of your agreement you signed with The Edge Fitness, cancellations require a 30 day notice and you are responsible for any payments that fall within that timeframe. Therefore depending on when your request is sent, you may be required to make a final payment.

I knew I still had to pay what I had due for the 12 months and that was fine but was reassured when I called that my membership would be canceled after I moved. I wasn't and was still pulling from my account every month. Following that I tried to send my cancellation letter and that also never stopped it.
The only option I had left for them to stop taking money for a gym I wasn't even going to anymore was to stop the payment from my bank and now they are coming after me for the money I still owe them as they continue to charge me. So not only do they make the cancellation process absurdly difficult and annoying, when it doesn't work, you will still be charged every month. I have been in Florida almost a year now and I'm still being charged for my gym membership in Ohio. Do not use anything with ABC Financial. I was being harassed by one of the personal trainers at my gym and thus went to cancel my membership. I explained my reasoning yet this company responded with what seemed to be an automatic message (because I made multiple attempts at explaining why I need my membership cancelled ASAP) and the message was the same every time... "You must give 30 days notice before cancelling, therefore you will be billed until May 2." So, they still made me pay for an additional month despite the circumstances. I'm furious, mostly because the customer service was TERRIBLE. They took days to respond to my emails and were not willing to help at all but rather copy/pasted the same email back to me. After writing to Chicago Athletic Club about the letter in cancelling the membership, they requested that another email be sent, after charging me for additional 5 months since when I first initially contracted the gym (even though I never stepped foot in the gym ever again since that contact to cancel). Granted, ABC Financial was not the incompetent advisor and front desk staff at the gym but they have continuously failed to streamline or make any protocols to make the cancellation process understood. It's one thing to acknowledge that you won't take responsibility but it's really ruthless to continue to take advantage of customers took time after time. I will never join a gym membership because of this experience!

This company exists solely to shift responsibility from gyms and gym owners and vice versa. Their main protocol requires that you MAIL A LETTER to them and/or the gym where you are a member (most likely 30 days in advance -- which may or may not be told to you by the gym owner) so that you may cancel your membership. They will most likely still charge you that last payment, or, as I can see here, continue to charge you regardless. All I can say is that any organization like this, in 2018 no less, that requires you to physically mail a letter to them to cancel a simple gym membership is up to no good. You can even register online through their site to see all your information that you CANNOT change. So you can SEE your account online, unsuccessfully "manage" it, but in order to cancel it -- you must send a physical letter? Makes total sense. Avoid any gym that uses these card sharks as their payment processor.

How is it that I was overbilled for 6 months at $150 and they still want $50 to cancel the membership again and refused to cancel it until I paid the $50 when I have no contract with the gym. What a scam! So now I've paid them $200 for a gym membership that I haven't used in 7 months and should have been canceled in the first place. Stay away from any gym that uses this company! On top of that ridiculous letter you’re required to pay a 65 dollar fee and 65% or the remaining balance of your contract. Which is fine but why make this process so difficult? This is a third party crooked company that handles billing accounts for gyms. I started an account with Gold's Gym back in October 2014, little did I know what a pain ABC Financial would be! When canceling, this company will do everything it can, not to hold onto your cancellation - They don't even give or email you a cancellation code! I spoke to a woman named Esmerelda yesterday from ABC Financial, as I saw I had a charge from their company on my bank statement. Even though I canceled over a year ago, she said they never got the cancellation request, she then redirected me to a non-working number to get in touch with a manager to cancel it.
Since that number she provided me did not work, I called the gym closest to me and called their manager. Of course, they gave me conflicting information and told me ABC Financial is supposed to cancel it, however, this kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME and as a result, they get calls from understandably angry customers. I spoke to the manager and he said he would do me a favor and cancel it, however, even though we are in 2017, he is unable to email me a confirmation of the cancellation.
So, I am taking it upon myself to go over there and to literally freaking screenshot of that dead-gum confirmation of cancellation off of their computer, just so I can send it to ABC Financial - just because, clearly the left-hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Oh yeah, and fair warning, they will also charge you a month after, because again, even though we live in 2017, they have archaic computer systems from the 90's and "can't process it until the month after". Just another way corporations screw the customers in this crazy, corporation governed country. I hope Gold's Gym loses customers. I honestly have no sympathy for any company that uses the services of ABC Financial!

If you're reading this review because your gym uses ABC Financial for payments, be very careful. This company has designed its partner relationships so that they're not required to send any membership data on things like cancellations. So the two entities essentially don't communicate. This way, they can continue to charge you until you notice (in spite of having gone in-person to cancel at your gym). Then when you call and email, they fill the air with "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" throughout bedrock-level customer service. Then once you they admit defeat and for a cancellation, they claim it's pending and takes 30 days so they can squeeze one more payment out of you. Honestly, gyms like Workout World should be ashamed for ever having partnered with ABC Financial as they are clearly thieves leveraging a broken system. Hopefully there's some kind of class action lawsuit in the future.

After nearly 2 years of paid membership, I decided to cancel since I wasn't using the gym (Become Fitness). I went to the gym in person and canceled my membership. Even though my monthly membership had JUST renewed, they refused to pro-rate it, so I paid for the entire month of September (something other subscription-based companies NEVER do. They ALWAYS pro-rate). Then I was told their printers "weren't working" so they couldn't give me a copy of the cancellation - so I asked them to give me the original copy because I needed proof of the cancellation. That was September 6th. It's now over 2 months later and after emailing a scanned copy of the cancellation THREE times, they still claim my membership was never cancelled.
The staff is completely irresponsible and incompetent OR they are trained to conduct dishonest business practices on purpose, hoping to extort as much money as possibly from people who are too busy or weak to fight back. My credit card company already processed the charge reversal after I sent them a copy of the signed cancellation. It's there in black & white. Why can't the company themselves see that the cancellation was done 2 months ago? Because they're dishonest. This company should be fined or shut down.P. S. I will NOT under ANY circumstances pay them a penny at this point.

I wrote a letter and gave it to a skinny lady were standing in counter the time I went. She came to me. Said, “No problem cancelling your membership but you require to pay 99 dollars because it is in our terms.” I do not expect this. I said to them, “I do not have money now. Send me letter I pay the amount.” They said, “No problem. We will mail you the cancellation notice with bill.” Meanwhile I hold my bank account linked with account to be charged to avoid overdraft fee. That time my account balance was not enough.
On October 30 I received a call. A lady talked to me and she said make a payment of 99 + 22.99 for the October month. I said I cannot because I was asked to pay 99 dollars only the time I cancelled membership. Then she said go to World Gym to make payment. I went there after 30 min to make payment. Same skinny lady was grinding something for 15 min in front of me. She did whatever she wanted even I am waiting there for some help. She came and told me 99 + 22.99. I said, “What did you say? Then she called manager. He came and want to make a payment of 99.
I gave them 100 bills. She gave me 1 dollar. She gave me receipt of 99 dollars. There were nothing about why I made this payment. I asked them give me a receipt it describes that amount is been charged for cancellation. She wrote something by her hand. I said, “No. You go with your terms. As a valued customer I have to maintain my records.” They gave me nothing and manager told her to, “Return his money. We will send you cheque.” I received my money and came outside. Well, as we can see from the other reviewers, ABC Financial is not an honest company and they certainly are brazen enough to continue to treat customers this way. Sometimes I wish there were police that could arrest people like this, but there aren't. The only thing you can do is refuse to do business with companies that have ABC Financial as part of their billing. I love Anytime Fitness, but have been financially taken advantage of by ABC. I was being charged a $19.99 fee on my credit card in addition to my club membership for several months and didn't realize it.
They were taking money out of my account without my knowledge which is just extremely dishonest in my opinion. At least provide a WRITTEN NOTICE of any additional charges and what reason. Fortunately for me, the club owner is an honest guy. So... the question is, how many more complaints need to be filed before ABC goes under or Anytime Fitness and other companies decide to find a more honest billing company. That reflects extremely poorly on their reputation.

After being told at the gym I had to cancel using ABC financial I called and the customer service agent told me about the freeze option and that I could cancel anytime I wanted within the next three months. What they did not tell me is if you cancel while you're on the freeze you pay for that month because you did not give a 30-day notice.
This company is shady and scams people out of their money and it should be illegal. So, no matter if you decided to go on a "freeze" they still get one more payment out of you. I started getting notices and phone calls from ABC Financial stating that my payment was declined. I was being charged OVER $40 in "Services Charges" WHICH IS RIDICULOUS, I have NEVER dealt with a company that charges such high fees... which are almost more than my membership!!
FINALLY after multiple months of being charged numerous so called service charges each month I figured out that they were trying to collect my payment at 1 or 2 in the morning and my payment doesn't go through until around 7 am. I had called multiple times about the service charges because there was money in my account but they kept saying my card was declined.
This month when I figured out what they were doing to cause the decline the service rep said everything would be taken care of and she would refund me for the service charges I had paid for over the past months. I did get a refund but the amount that was left on my account was never taken off and then I started receiving notices that my card was declined when my payment wasn't due for another 3 weeks. Therefore I had to call them AGAIN and ask why the balance was still on my account and why they tried to deduct money from my card and added another service charge... when I do not owe anything and my payment isn't due.
After having to ask for a Supervisor because the initial customer service rep kept telling me amounts I had paid that weren't correct. So basically after talking to the supervisor all they would do is take off the service charge for when they tried to take money out... When they weren't supposed to and said I still owe what left on my account. I will NEVER go to another gym that uses ABC Financial for their billing... This is RIDICULOUS. My doctor advised me to quit Charter Fitness and join a gym with a swimming pool because of my medical condition. I spoke with ABC Financial back in May to advise them. They said I would have to submit a letter from my doctor in order to cancel but I didn't want to pay my deductible so I thought it would be cheaper just to wait a few months until my membership was over. They told me I could write a letter, go into a Charter Fitness, or send a certified letter. I wrote a letter to cancel which they never received because my account was charged.
I called and spoke with another agent. She invited me to go into Charter Fitness so I went on my lunch break but they advise me that I could not cancel because it was not the gym I signed up at. I called back, spoke to another agent, advise them that the previous agent didn't tell me that I had to go to a specific Charter Fitness. That agent advised me just to send a certified letter and she apologized for my troubles. I sent the certified letter but the agent failed to tell me that they will continue to charge me. They charged me $40 renewal fee + $19.95 monthly fee. After they finally received my certified letter they charge me another monthly fee.
I emailed their customer service team and they replied they couldn't do anything because it was in my contract. This company's main goal is to get money out of people. I did my due diligence in following their instructions, but they didn't seem to care at all. If all you have to do to sign up is go online go into a facility then they should also make it easy for you to cancel.

I joined my local Anytime Fitness in the summer of 2013. No one told me that billing was done through a separate company, though that could be typed in fine print on the contract somewhere. Well, at the end of 2015, I realized that I hadn't been going to the gym much, so I figured I'd stop the auto-renewal feature before the new year. I went to the gym, where they told me I had to contact ABC Financial and gave me their phone number. I called that afternoon, and after being on hold for over 30 minutes, I gave up.
A few days later, I called again, and the same thing happened - nothing but hold music. I emailed Anytime Fitness, to no avail, they never responded. Calling the gym made no difference, they just said I had to take care of billing with ABC Financial. So, I tried calling ABC again and - surprise! - I wait 40+ minutes and never speak with a real person.
I ended up closing my checking account, which seems to be the only way to get a response from ABC. They emailed me about updating my billing information, and provided a link to myiclubonline[dot]com. I didn't remember making an account on that website, but when I entered my agreement number, I was told that there was already an account associated with that number. So, I set about trying to retrieve my user name and password.
I requested that info be sent to the email address I gave to Anytime Fitness, and waited. And waited. And waited and waited. No email came, there was nothing in any of my folders or with the spam. So, I made another request for my information. Again, nothing came. So I thought, maybe I used my other email address when I signed up, and requested my user name be sent to that email address. And still, nothing.
I haven't even spoken with an ABC representative, I can't imagine how much more frustrating and enraging the rest of this process is going to be. All I know is that I am not paying another penny to Anytime or ABC, considering I haven't even been to the gym in at least 6 months. Gym memberships are a scam, and I'll never fall for this trick again. I'll be sure to update this review when I finally speak to an ABC representative.

Full disclosure, I work in customer service/sales. I know how to speak to others in my field but even I lost my cool on this one. I signed up for Gold's about a year ago. It was a discounted program through my work and I just wasn't going. I called Gold's to cancel and they explained I would have to go through ABC via a mailed letter. I also had to pay for postage on this letter and go physically into the facility to obtain the letter. No problem. I did this and eagerly awaited confirmation. This was on 9/7, I received a letter (posted from them on 9/16) on 9/22.It showed a new balance of $68.99 but it wasn't labeled as a "cancellation fee". There was a line, however, that said "total due to cancel" with the same amount next to it.
Frustrated for having to pay for a month I didn't need as it was, I called. I do not remember the gentleman's name but things started out fine. I explained my situation and he explained that it was for the month of October + an annual fee. Confusion arose since I asked multiple times while on the phone with Gold's if there would be any fees (to cancel or otherwise) and they said absolutely not. I explained this to the gentleman and also voiced my frustrations at having no easy way to cancel. The guy on the phone said "well why didn't you just use the e-mail address we provide?"
And then I saw red. Not at any point did Gold's provide an e-mail to make all of this easier and avoid idiotic fees. I explained to the gentleman that I was not mad at him but felt like Gold's should have given the contact e-mail to make my life easier. I asked if there was a way to waive the annual fee and I would just pay the month (even though if I would have had an e-mail, I wouldn't have had to pay the month either). He kept on saying "I'm sorry you feel that way" whenever I voiced concern/frustration.
This is the way you should be speaking to someone but he never offered to see what he could do, saying I signed a contract etc. I kept on trying to explain that yes, I realized that, but I was never provided an e-mail which would have made all of this easier and would have prevented me from paying $70. I explained that I appreciated his help, reiterated I wasn't upset with him, but that there had to be something or I would dispute the charges based on Gold's purposely not giving me access to this e-mail. I kept on begging and he kept on saying "sorry you feel that way" so finally I was like "well, I'm just going to dispute the charge."
And that was when he said this: "Yes Ms. **, I'm well aware of your mission." It was sarcastic and rude. Completely uncalled for. What should have happened is he should have offered to put me on the phone with his supervisor or offered to waive the annual fee. I wasn't asking for the entire $70 to be waived, just the fee. I said, "excuse me? That is not how you speak to someone." That was the only time I got upset with the actual agent because, at the end of the day, this is the Gold's by me's fault, not his, but no matter how stressed out a customer is (especially when they keep letting you know that they are not mad at you, but rather the situation) you do not speak to them that way. Very disappointed and still planning on disputing the charge unless ABC is willing to waive the annual fee.
