I purchased glasses at your Rogers Ave. store in Fort Smith, Arkansas in Sept. of 2011. I recently tripped in my driveway, causing my glasses to fly off my face. My husband inadvertently stepped on them trying to catch me before I fell. Needless to say, the glasses were bent and one lens was terribly scratched. My sales receipt and information packet that came with the glasses clearly states that the glasses would be repaired free of charge within 12 months of purchase. But when I took them to the store on June 12th, 2012, the salesperson in the optical dept. told me that only the frames would be repaired, which she attempted to bend back into shape herself, to no avail, I might add.
I did protest because the guarantee does not specify what and what not is covered. It simply says your glasses will be repaired at no cost. It did not sway the saleslady. She told me they would replace the one lens only at a cost to me of $122. I did not accept this solution as I had already paid (along with insurance) close to 400 dollars for the glasses in the first place. Other than filing this complaint with your corporate office, I am not sure what I can do to solve this dilemma, but I can assure you that the word of mouth can be a powerful tool. I hope you can address this problem for me. Thank you.

I needed glasses for the past 7 years and put it off till 3 months ago. We shop at Walmart all the time so I went there to have my eyes checked and to get my glasses. I told the girl after my exam that helps order the glasses I wanted the best they have in the lens with the best peripheral. She wrote down the prices and told me about all the choices and I came back with my daughter and husband to help me pick out frames a few days later.
After I decided on the frames, I ordered the glasses with the best that she wrote down. When my glasses came in, they were so bad I could not see out of them. They checked them and the bottoms were cut off so the readers were gone, and they gave me the cheaper lens. Plus, she measured my eyes wrong. So they re-ordered them and they came in wrong again, cut wrong and the prescription was wrong. So, the doctor checked my eyes again and changed my script, re-ordered them for the third time and I also got sunglasses but just for driving.
The third pair I kept for one month and they were still wrong. I tried them for a month and got to the point that I hated to wear them. I went to a MD which cost me twice as much as your doctor. They checked my glasses and did a two hour exam and said my glasses were wrong. Today, I took my glasses back to Walmart and got a refund. It took me 3 months to try and get glasses and I still don't have a pair. So far I have paid two places to have my eyes checked. Walmart did not give me a refund on eye appointment. I will never recommend Walmart for eye care.

After 58 days, I still do not have any glasses. I went to the Walmart in Columbus, GA on 4/23/2012 and had an eye exam and ordered 2 pairs of glasses. I received both pair on 5/1/2012. After 2 weeks of trying to adjust to them, I called the store in Eufaula, AL, which is 50 miles closer to me and the same doctor as Columbus store works there also. I was having trouble seeing as everything seemed to be on a right slant. I was seeing water run up hill to the right. I called the store in Eufaula and was asked to wait for one week so that the doctor could bring my records. I went the following Wednesday and after an hour of bending and working with my glasses, I still had the same problem.
Finally, the tech Stacey asked me to look into the machine that measures the distance between the eye centers. Wow, the original prescription listed the center as 58.5mm, but the the reading there, taking it 3 times, showed a reading of 61.5. Now I had to return to Columbus to have new lenses made on June 8. Now their machine measured the distance at 61mm, twice. They would remake my lenses and they should be ready on June 15 and would be mailed to me. It is now June 20 and I have no glasses. After almost 2 whole months, I have no glasses which I spent over $300 on just because their so-called tech can't read or add. I hope all the stores are not this inept. Of course, I have called and received numerous excuses and interesting that the manager is not there. What a way to run a business!

I went to an appointment to get a contact lens prescription and the optometrist would not release the prescription until I ordered contact lenses from them. I told her that I wanted to order them online from 1-800-Contacts, which Walmart owns anyway. I'm not new to contact lenses; I don't need any follow-up visits. However, she refused to do an exam without me consenting to the terms. This is going back to the time when optometrists' offices gave patients a hard time when they went for an exam and didn't buy products at exorbitant prices from them. I thought they changed the law on this? Aside from that, equipment is dated and one of the machines that measures pressure in the eye was not working properly. Maybe they should worry about having properly working facilities.

I went to the local Wal-Mart (La Junta) and ordered a pair of computer/reading glasses. I told the technician several times that I wanted the focus to be about arms length which is about 25 inches. When the glasses arrived, the focus was 14 inches. I took the glasses back, wasting about an hour of my time talking to technicians. Finally, I told the technician to get the manager. The manager aggressively and obnoxiously lectured me about how the error was my fault.
Supposedly, I should have known that since I mentioned the word "reading", the technician would automatically order the standard reading prescription from the ophthalmologist. I strongly disagree because I directly told the technician what I wanted several times. The manager refunded the money but her vociferous insistence in blaming the customer is unacceptable in my opinion. She kept offering several kinds of argumentative diversions such as I should have notified her about previous glasses I had ordered.
Subsequently, I went to my local ophthalmologist and ordered reading glasses. The technician there instantly understood what I wanted and referred to it as an "intermediate" prescription (between a computer prescription which is longer and a reading prescription which is shorter). This makes it very clear to me that the Wal-Mart Vision Center technicians were not adequately knowledgeable or trained well. It is also clear to me that the manager has power issues that make her obnoxious in situations that require compromise and understanding the customer rather than blaming them.

I wanted a frame for a project, so I intended to check out and also think of getting one there because they have a cheaper mid-range price among other vision stores. While I was checking out the glasses, the manager, **, did not seem to like it. His intimating and unfriendly attitude is very pushy. Furthermore, after I purchased the glasses, I wasn't satisfied with the quality so I went back and asked for an exchange, he didn't seem to care. Besides that, he used a very aggressive and impolite tone to communicate with me or perhaps with other customers. Although he didn't seem to like to talk and keep having fun with his cell phone, Rosa, a worker in the vision center, came in to conversation and helped me out. Thanks!
The only problem is the manager in that store, **, 13307 Midway Rd Farmers Branch, TX 75244 (Walmart Vision Center). Please don't go there, if you want to have or deserve a satisfied customer service. The manager of the vision center will not help. He will only have his manager position, and keep playing his cell phone, ignoring other customers who try to seek help! He’s very impatient, too!

I went in to the Simcoe, ON Walmart today for my appointment at the Vision Center for 5:15 pm. I went in and gave them my name and they couldn’t find it. I said my appointment is for 5:15. She looked again and she took my health card number and filled out the paper. She then took me for the first test that blows air at your eye. Then I paid and she gave me a receipt and I told her my last name wasn’t right. She looked in the computer and told me my name wasn’t even in the system. I said when I called he said there was only a couple of appointments left for the $60 fee and then it was going up to $80. She then filled in my address and number and I was told to sit and wait to see the eye doctor. So I sat there. At 5:30, the guy came in and told me that the lady whose appointment was supposed to be at 5:15 was there, so I couldn’t be seen today.
I was so pissed. I drove from out of town (gas is not cheap these days!). I don’t know why I wasn’t in the system - that is not my fault! Hopefully, when I call tomorrow I can talk to a manager or something. I can't believe I made an appointment. They didn’t have me in the system and the guy acted like it was my fault! He kept telling me that they always type in the info into the system when they make appointments. I know I made the damn appointment because I called and cancelled one from another place since Walmart was cheaper. I’m so mad.

Today, I went to the Wal-Mart on Highway 192 in Kissimmee. When I arrived at 1.05pm, the only member of the staff in the Vision Center was with a family of five. After waiting 25 minutes, the staff member informed me she would be only a couple of more minutes and would then be with me. 45 minutes later and after another member of the staff had appeared, my wife asked them if they could help us, only to be told she was not a qualified optician and we would have to wait.
Another 15 minutes then when we eventually did get served. When I asked if I could get an eye exam, the first staff member then turned to the other one and asked her to check the diary for an available time! It's nearly an hour and a half! Why couldn't they asked when I walked in. By saying "Hi, how can I help you? I'm with this family and will be quite some time. What can we help you with?" I would have had the same answer an hour and a half earlier. My reaction was yes, and I got up and walked out disgusted why there's lack of customer service training. My advice, don't waste your time.

Several months ago, I received an eye exam from the Vision Center. At that time, I paid for my eye-wear in full. I went to the Herkimer, New York Wal-Mart Vision Center to pick up my eye-wear and was told I will not receive my contact lenses because I was more than thirty days past my exam date. At that time, I asked the clerk why I could not get my lenses and was told again that my eye-wear was not going to be given to me because I was past the thirty days from my exam date, even though it was paid in full. I was asked if I wanted to reschedule another exam and I replied no because it had only been several weeks since my exam at the Herkimer, New York Wal-Mart Vision Center.
I asked for a full refund and was denied. A few weeks later, I again approached the clerk at the Herkimer, New York Wal-Mart Vision Center, requesting my full refund for merchandise I paid for, but I was never given refund and was again denied. I would like this matter to be looked into at the Herkimer, New York Wal-Mart Vision Center and would certainly expect my full refund sent to me.

Last January, a friend recommended the Roseville Wal-Mart for eyeglasses because of the huge cost savings. Well, I went there on January 31, 2012 and did the exam routine, etc. I told the exam doctor that I needed two prescriptions: one for normal everyday wear and the other for "working" with computers, pointing out my computer screen is an arm's length away. I used my insurance, which basically covers cost of one pair of glasses and I used this against the most expensive pair. I also opted for all the expensive coatings, etc. on each pair.
Three weeks later, I received my two pairs of glasses. When I picked them up, they fitted me; and I told Lynette I didn't think the working glasses were focusing correctly at a computer distance. She came up with an explanation that my eyes would adjust after I wore them. So the next day at my computer screen, I tried them and could not focus into the screen. In fact, they would only work with a book one foot in front of my eyes. A few days later, I took time off work and went back to the Roseville Wal-Mart Eye Center and talked to Lynette about this problem. She kind of hissed at me making me feel she didn't give it enough time, but I told her I was very aware of my eyesight and these glasses simply don't work.
Well, she made another appointment with the eye doctor, and she explained to him my working glasses didn't work for reading computers. He surprisingly shot back at me, saying, "Well, you should have told me you needed these for computers." I told him I did, but argued any further. I just wanted my glasses to work. He readjusted my prescription for computer work, and I reordered. Three weeks later, they called and set up a time for me to pick them up. Again, I took some time off work and went in, and these glasses were focusing the same as the first pair. I told Lynette they were not any better than the first pair, and she again tried to tell me to "give it time for my eyes to adjust," which at the same time made me feel stupid. So I left the store, actually feeling "stupid," and went two weeks, trying to let them break in.
After two weeks, I could not take it any longer to not be able to read my computer and do my work. So I took them back in. They tried to insist nothing was wrong with my prescription, but I demanded to talk with the eye doctor. I got in, and I told the eye doctor that I felt really stupid for bugging him. But my eyes are not working with the glasses. I just went. He did a quick eye exam, asked for my glasses, went to the back, and checked the prescription on a machine. He came back and said they were the reading prescription. In other words, the same as the first. So we went back to visit Lynette, and she said, "Well, this is what he ordered." And the doctor corrected her, stating that no, he ordered this new prescription. Long story short, we got through that and Lynette ordered again. Okay. Three weeks later, it's the same thing. The same first prescription came back again. Okay, let's try it again. Lynette ordered again, and I at the same time ordered another pair of glasses with the same working prescription because they have an attractive sale.
Lo and behold, again after another 3 weeks' wait, I took time off work to pick up my working glasses. I was really excited, because I really, really need these for work. Two months have been long two months without proper eyesight. And this time, both glasses came in with the same reading prescription as the first. Now, I am really upset at this point. I called Assia, the district manager; and I told her of my experience and that I wanted all my money back but that I would need them to work with me so I could find another optometrist and order new glasses. She was very rude about this, as if I was the problem and insisted she could not refund my money unless I returned them all. I begged with her, stating I needed just two weeks to give me time to find another optometrist. But she would not accept this.
I also asked her to correct the refund with my insurance, so I could use my insurance with my new optometrist. She told me that would be up to me and that she could do nothing for me. She said I would have to file a grievance with my insurance company and that if I was lucky, the insurance company would side with me and refund my money. And she also "wished me luck" on this endeavor. I can't believe how I was treated as a customer at the Roseville Eye Center. Lynette even tried to deny she ever helped me, and I later learned she is the store manager. So that gives the reason she tried that stunt. (She was trying to run from her responsibility.) I called Lenscrafter the same day, and they scheduled me the following day with an eye exam and promised I would have my new glasses within an hour after the exam.
After this exam, I will return my glasses with Wal-Mart and hope I get my refund as promised. I don't know how long it will take for my insurance issues. I wanted to share this experience with some of you, folks who are thinking about Wal-Mart. I will never ever walk into a Wal-Mart again. This has been the worst experience in my 50 years dealing with a "trusted merchant." Just be careful.

I had an eye exam and got my prescription from the local Wal-Mart eye center. My prescription should have been the exact one which I had last gotten from the same store during my last visit; however, the clerk wrote the prescription wrong and I wound up with a pair of single vision glasses. I can't use the glasses for reading. When I called this to their attention, the only action taken was that they added the additional lenses to the prescription. I asked if they could fix my glasses (which I had gotten elsewhere). They told me that I would have to pay $78 which they said was only the difference.
I don't feel that I should have to pay anything because I had already paid $219 for my glasses which I would not have done had I known they had given me the wrong prescription. I made the decision to purchase those glasses based on the fact that I was purchasing the progressive lenses that I usually wear. The manager called me only to try to pass the problem on to the store where I purchased the glasses, telling me what they should do, but they did not make the mistake. They filled the prescription which I presented from Wal-Mart. I have used this store in the past, but I don't think I will do it again.

From the Walmart in Circleville, Ohio on 4/27/12, I had an eye examination and selected a pair of glasses with transition lenses. The optician, Vi, told me I would be called within 7 to 10 days. On the 10th day, I called and was informed they were ready. On 5/7/12, I asked Vi why I was not called. Her snippy reply was it takes 10 business days. She missed it completely. They were already there for pickup and she should have called. When I went in on 5/8/12, Vi had failed to check the glasses. There was a chip on the lens. They were reordered. I was given the broken glasses to wear home.
The transition lens barely worked and the prescription was wrong, I could not read road signs clearly until right upon them. I immediately took them back and asked for a refund. She wanted the broken glasses back (in which I provided) and refunded all but the examination cost. She and the store manager could neither look at me the entire time. I believe the optometrist should refund her examination fee, it is clearly defective. I will never buy glasses again from Walmart. It looks like a great number of people from various parts of the country feel the same.

When I took a look closely, the right arm was loose. I went to Vision Center this morning to show them what happened. But they don't want to listen. Because my son's eyeglasses were bought with Medicaid. My son wore it about 2 months. That's it, because of Medicaid. Whose problem was this?

I purchased a pair of glasses for $340, which is way overpriced to begin with. The glasses were to be ready in 10 days (I am still waiting). If you can go to most doctors' offices, you can get them in 3 days or America's eyeglass centers, get them the same day. Why am I still waiting 2 weeks to get glasses? Every time I call, I get told "we'll call you!", as if "stop calling us". Well it's my money and I will keep calling until I get my glasses. I will stop shopping at Walmart altogether. I don't think Walmart cares about the customer and perhaps you have become too big to be bothered. So hopefully, the public will hit you where it hurts in Walmart's pocketbook.

On 2/24/11, I had an eye exam and purchased glasses at the Vision Center at your store in Clio, MI. First, they talked me into having anti glare added to my lenses . After a week or so, I took the glasses back. I was having problems with the anti glare. They made me new lenses and it helped. After a year, I got a reminder in the mail that it was time for an exam. And I was planning to go in and see if I had to get new glasses. I talked to the person working that day some time in mid-march. I was having a problem with my glasses slipping down my nose and asked if they would adjust the nose pads.
The person working took my glasses in the back to adjust them. When he came out, he had a problem. While trying to adjust the pads, his tool slipped and put a big scratch on the right lens. He said he would order a new right lens. I got a call that the lens was in and went to have it put in. The same person took the glasses to replace the scratched lens. While putting the lens in, he broke of one of the nose pads and said it couldn't be fixed so he took a new frame of the display and put my old left lens and the new right lens in the frame. I put the glasses on and went about my on my way.
Later that day, I saw I was having a problem seeing. I checked my glasses and can see that the bifocal on the new right lens is bigger or not in the right spot and is interfering with my sight. I went back and the same person didn't seem happy to see me and I do understand that. He tried to adjust the lens but it didn't work. I now have a chip in the lens where the arm connects. I am wearing my two-year old glasses because the pair I took in for a simple pad adjustment I cannot wear. They interfered with my site and gave me a headache. I am not a happy camper. I will never get glasses at Wal-Mart again. I do understand the glasses were not under warranty at the time I went in but at least I could wear them. None of this was my doing. I just want the nose pads adjusted. I don't think going back to see what can be done would do any good. I could tell they were not happy to see me.

It was only 6 months and it was in very small print that the manager highlighted for me like I was some kind of idiot. The eye tech said, "You are fine and need to allow time to adjust to the prescription."
I went home and noticed they were badly out of alignment on my face. I then attempted to make minor adjustments myself, where they came apart or broke. The associates had flagrant attitude and unwillingness to resolve the problem and no intentions of correcting the glasses, and they hurried me out of the store. Also, the optician in the Vision Center told me the same thing not 10 minutes later. It's now the 10th and I still haven't received anything. How about the optician did not order my contact lenses until the 4th of April and I was there on the 30th of March? Now wasn't the order supposed to be made on the 30th of March after I spent 100 dollars? It was for just one free trial pair of contacts. I wore contact lenses before and I know how it goes. My lenses are all scratched, and they are only less than 7 months old. I only use lens wipes or lens cloth on my glasses. So today, I went in to Wal-Mart Vision and explained to the young lady working there. Her comment was "You should not wipe your glasses with your shirt tail." How do you get shirt tail out of wipes or lens cloth? I was lost for words.
And then she told me that scratches are not covered. Well, then, what is the product that you sell called scratch-resistant that I paid for? So my next question was how much to replace the lenses. I was told $175. I don't think so. So now, I'm looking for a new doctor and vision center that will treat their customers with respect and responsibility and with reasonable pricing. I got off at Wesley Chapel, got back on the highway heading back to Panola Rd.
When my son went back in they told him they had shredded his receipt and made the comment that everything is in the computer for a year. That does not help my check book that it’s in your computer. I went to the Vision Center with a prescription from my private optometrist who is not affiliated with Walmart or the Vision Center. I found the help very friendly and knowledgeable, but I would call first to inquire about non peak hours as they seem to be very busy. My glasses were ready in 12 days. They contain prisms, so you may get yours done quicker. I had new $60 bifocal prism lenses put in my own frames for $20 extra.
I had an appointment with my optometrist the next day for a separate issue (dry eye syndrome). So I took my new glasses with me to have the prescription checked. Unfortunately, they found the bifocal part of the lens was placed too high and the bifocal area was off its axis by seven degrees in both directions, not good.
I will return in the next few days to demand a redo. In fact, the staff member said, if I wasn't satisfied that I could bring them back and they would upgrade to polycarbonate progressive trifocals using my $60 as credit toward new lenses, which of course can be quite expensive. FYI, I doubt too many people will find bifocals satisfactory for computer work. The lines really get in the way.

On March 13, I had an appointment for an eye exam and to get new glasses at the Wal-Mart in Fredonia, NY. I was concerned, as I knew I would have to get bifocals and knew that they would be more expensive than I was used to paying. The doctor was quite reassuring and told me I could get them at about $80.00 a lens.
When I was finished and went to pick my frames, I was appalled at the woman's attitude. I chose a pair of frames with clip-on sunglasses, because I don't like the transition lenses. She was annoyed with me when I point blank refused that type of lens and instantly got an attitude. I also made it clear that I did not want the anti-glare lens, as the last 2 pair of glasses I had with that lens type peeled and looked shabby after 6 months of having them. She said if I wanted the bifocals without the lines, then I had no choice and that it was the way they came. I said maybe I shouldn't get them then. Again, I got an attitude from her.
She never once asked what I wanted or how much I wanted to pay, and when she was done, my total with the eye exam was $420.00. Before telling me the total, she looked at me like I was stupid and said, "You do know you have to pay the total amount today, right?" I said no and that I wasn't aware but that it wasn't a problem. All I get for an answer was "Good."
After she rang me up and I paid, I looked at the receipt and asked why I was paying $125.00 for lenses when the doctor said I could get them for $80.00, even the ones without lines. Her reply was "Oh, that's the plastic lenses; you don't want those." I asked her how she knew I didn't want them when I wasn't given a choice. Again, all she said was "Trust me. You don't want them." She then walked away, and I left very angry and confused.
I have to have new glasses, as mine are in terrible shape because of the peeling in the lens from the anti-glare and my sight is terrible. But I never expected to be treated so terribly. This woman assumed she knew what was best for me and never gave me the option to have an opinion. And when I did give an opinion, she was rude and hostile.
Yesterday, I stopped by the optical center while I was at the store, as she did tell me my glasses would be in around the 20th. I thought I would save my self a trip back to town if they were there. They were not, which was fine. But then the lady I talked to said they haven't even shipped yet and that I won't get them the following day either. This irritated me. Not only did I get treated terribly when I ordered them, but they have $420.00 of my money and I have nothing to show for it.
I will have to wear glasses the rest of my life, and I have 3 children who also wear glasses and contacts. I will be looking for a new place to get all of our glasses after this experience.

I was traveling in the Orlando area and accidentally dropped and stepped on my glasses. I went to the nearest Walmart to the Vision Center to have them repaired. This happened to be the Walmart on the corner of John Young Parkway and Sand Lake Road. I arrived just as the Vision Center was opening at Noon. When I entered the vision center, there was a lady seated at one of the tables. There was no one else in the store at the time. I approached her and told her I was traveling and asked her if it was possible to have my glasses repaired. She stated that she was busy filing reports, so I would have to come back at 4:30 PM, four hours later. She also said there would be a charge of $7.50 (without even looking at the glasses). I said that sounded fine. When I told her I was traveling and just passing through the area, she said she would have to finish her reports and then try to fit me in between customers. There were no customers there.
Less than five minutes later, my daughter went into the vision center and approached the same lady. There were no customers at all in the store. My daughter asked her for directions to another place where we might be able to have the glasses repaired, and she said she had no idea since she didn't reside in that area. She was not working at the computer or waiting on a customer, she was just standing there. We asked to speak to the store manager, who told her the vision center was a separate entity, and that the lady who we wanted to complain about was the manager of the vision center.

I went to local Wal-Mart for eye exam for contacts and later to get glasses on another day. Well, I have no insurance so had to pay 120 bucks for exam. They didn’t have the right rx for me in stock so they told me they would have them ordered and call me as soon as came in. I called and called for weeks and was told they did not come in yet. So this whole time I was walking around with bad contacts. Finally, 4 months later they called and said they were in. A couple days later I had a way to get there to pick them up because my car was broke down and I called to find out their hours. She then asked my name and told her what I was coming to get and she said that they didn’t have them in stock! I needed an apt for my daughter so I was told they would be in by the time I made my daughter's apt.
I let my daughter stay home from school the morning of her apt, and when we were getting ready to walk out the door to go I get a phone call saying the doctor wasn’t in because she was sick. I said I would call back within a month to reschedule. Finally, in January, I was able to get back to the Wal-Mart, so I went to find out what was up with my contacts and was told they sent them back that I only have a 6-month period to pick them up. When I talked with the doctor she said she never missed work and that I was basically lying. There was writing all over my files about all of this by different people who work there and none of them said they remembered anything about it. I was furious when I was told I’d have to pay for another exam if I wanted to get the right rx!

I had an exam on Thurs., 2/9/12. I have worn glasses for 58 years so I know how an exam should go. I constantly told the optician that I saw two squares of letters. She ignored me. Finally, when she was done, I said to her again, "You realize I always had two separated boxes of letters.” Her response, "Oh, maybe I need to look at your old glasses again.” It had been six years since my last Wal-Mart exam. Why does an optician have to look at an old prescription? Should she not know how to test and come to her own results?
I picked up my trifocals on Fri., 2/17/12 and the entire middle (computer viewing) section of the trifocal was a total blur. The reading section wasn't much better. The Wal-Mart clerks kept telling me it was just the fact that I am not used to lines. 58 years of glasses and they are telling me I don't know when I can't read. They scheduled me for a retest on Sat., 2/18/12.
The optician told me I didn't know what I was talking about and it was the lines that I wasn't use to. I had trifocals back in 2002 and have had bifocals for years. I know if I can see or if it is a line. The doctor retested me and changed the RX. Just one week later, the RX changed, go figure. Then the receptionist is typing it up in the computer and kept telling me I didn't know what I was talking about and it was the fact that I wasn't use to lines, yet she keyed in the new RX.
I picked the new glasses up tonight 2/14/12. One lady was working. She was so busy answering the phone. She could not help any guest. She got me my glasses and said I try them on and if they fall off. "No”. Good! We are done, goodbye. She never checked to see if they fit properly, if they were adjusted, if they were crooked. I have had my glasses 3 hours and I already have huge red spots under the nose piece where they were not adjusted to fit.
I have never had such poor Service and Exam and will not use Wal-Mart again for Vision Service. I used Target before and should have gone back to Target. Do not use the Vision Service at Wal-Mart, 1133 N. Emerson Ave., Greenwood, IN.

I was on the fence about typing this complaint. I am a very fair person, and I do try and treat others the way i would like to be treated. I visited the Wal-Mart in Fairlawn, as we have been using this one for years for my children who are in glasses. They have one man there who is just the best. Everyone else who works there, in my honest opinion, is robotic and creepy.
One time, I went to pick up my son's glasses and was standing at the counter; and the woman looked at me and jumped and said, "Oh my gosh, you scared me; you should have said something." She was on the phone. What should I have said? Is she blind? I was right there. If I said something, she'd have said I am on the phone. I can't win. Anyhow, here is my problem:
I brought in a pair of my own frames and also purchased a pair of their frames. I had an eyeglass Rx filled there about a year prior with my doctor's RX. The glasses worked great. I had a contact lens exam at Wal-Mart about a year ago but could not wear the contacts. (I have questions about the optometrist's knowledge and ability to offer a thorough exam, but that's another complaint.) When I went to get these glasses, I asked, "Do you have my Rx on file from Dr. **?" And they said yes.
A week went by, and I picked up my glasses. Immediately when I put them on, my vision was distorted and blurry. (I see absolutely perfect with my current glasses.) I got a migraine, because the vision was so distorted. I was told to take them home and wear them and get used to them. I took them home, but after an hour, it was ridiculous. I could not see. I called my ophthalmologist, and she said that it was silly and that I should see right away and the Rx sounded wrong.
I went back with my husband later that night, and we were shocked with the treatment we got. We were the only ones there, so we sat down in the chairs like we have done in the past. The woman walked over and said, "Did you check in? You can't just sit down; you need to check in." We asked, "When did protocol change?" She said, "You always must check in." There was nobody else in the place, only us.
So right away, she had some attitude. She was very brazen, rude, and short. I told her I had a problem and that I could not see with the glasses. I gave her a copy of the correct Rx, and she said they used the Wal-Mart contact lens one instead. i asked why? She said because it was a better Rx, and I said, "Why did you not use the one I supplied you with that you used before?" She said it would damage my eyesight?
If I used her glasses, there would be a lot of damage as I could not see! She then said, "You, hypersensitive types, cannot handle much change." and that the Rx was very close. She proceeded to remind me my current Rx expires in October of this year. She's very argumentative, and clearly, she was not happy to begin with and very upset with something and it could not have been me.
I left with mixed emotions. I was visibly upset and shaken with adrenaline rushing. I felt ripped off, like someone swapped out my Rx without asking. They took it into their own hands without my consent to use a contact lens Rx for eyeglasses. I felt angry that I was yelled at and treated like a sub-par human being, and I'm angry with the woman because she was so brazen and hateful. Then I felt sad because all I wanted was a pair of glasses I could see with just like my old ones.
I am not asking for customer service on a silver platter. I know this is Wal-Mart, and you get what you pay for. Heck, I don't require a smile; just hand them to me and I'll be on my way. But to to the extra mile to make me feel as though I am at fault for your mistake and to continue to do it over and over again, it's just wrong.
This woman is not in the right field of work. She really does not belong in customer service of any kind. She would make a good prison guard or better yet, be good behind a desk. I can only hope she does not inflict the same negativity to others the way she did to me. Thank you for listening.

I have bought my glasses from Wal-Mart for many years and I still will do so. But the last two times I have been in to talk with them, in the Dawsonville, GA Wal-Mart, about prices, hours, etc., they have been very unfriendly and rude. The doctor was one of the two guys I spoke with. There were no other customers in the vision center while I was talking to them. As I was asking a 2nd question, the one guy spoke over me while looking over my head and asking the people who had just walked in, if he could help them! Huh? I thought I was a customer. Aaaahhh, well, I just wanted to give a heads-up to Wal-Mart employees. If you don't like your job and don't want to deal with people, please go somewhere else and find a job. On Tuesday 2/14, I went into the Vision Center to get my glasses adjusted. The employee adjusted my glasses and sent me off. A few hours later, I took my glasses off and bent the frame (ear piece) like how you usually would when setting glasses down for the night. When I did that, I heard something break in the frame. I looked and saw that right in front of the screws I have two pieces that connect as well and one was broke. I'm am not blaming the Walmart Vision Center for breaking my glasses but I don't know how else they would have gotten broken. So anyways, with no contacts left at all, and broken glasses I don't have a way of seeing unless I taped my glasses together in which I did.
So the next day, Wednesday 2/15, I went back into the Vision Center on my lunch break. There was only one employee working, and after trying to wait patiently for service, she finally helped me 30 minutes later. I explained to her what had happened, and that I wasn't sure if the company could order parts of my glasses which I did not get from there. She simply told me no. So then I asked if I could order some contacts until I could find a way to get new glasses and she told me "Hold on ma'am, I have to go help this lady over here, but I will be back to help you in a few more minutes". I told her never mind and that I would just order them online.
I am not the type to get mad or upset when customer service is bad, but this really irks me. I don't understand why she couldn't have at least given/sold me a pair of contacts to hold me over until the ones I would have ordered got here (I would have even paid for them). I have no way to see unless with broken glasses, that most likely got broken by the Walmart employee. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

I thought the lenses were "off" because I was having problems seeing with the glasses. I visited the vision center again and was told that, "You just have to get used to them." There was not the progressive bifocals present that I had ordered because I need to read! I called the vision center located in the Central Avenue, Toledo, Ohio location and spoke with Stacy, who actually laughed at me! I find this treatment ridiculous and unprofessional! When I asked her why she was laughing at me, this was not funny to me, she just giggled and said, "Well, this so called doctor that you went to has no idea of the lab we use." I took them back because I thought he had gotten glass and he couldn't remember. But come to find out it is the frames and they are way too heavy for him to wear. They give him headaches. I asked the clerk if we could exchange them since they were well over $500.00, which is crazy. But they can’t replace unless they become damaged. We have insurance and I just bought my glasses. We have spent quite a lot there and I just want him to be able to wear his new glasses. All we want is a new frame. Is a new frame worth our business? I had an eye exam done at Wal-Mart. The employee tried to tell me I had to pay for my glasses and the exam all the same day. This turned out that it wasn’t the case. So a week later I ordered the glasses and waited for them to arrive. I called the day the employee said they would be in; they were. I get the glasses and I can’t see clearly; actually, it’s worse. So I took them back in and a different employee told me to wear them for a week because they could be correcting something in my vision.
So I ended up taking them back to the store where I had the exam. The people there looked up my prescription and found out the glasses were ordered incorrectly. So once again I ended up waiting for the correct glasses to be delivered. Now from the time I paid until the time I got what I paid for 3 weeks had expired. Since that time I can see fine; the only problem now is the frames. They don’t stay seated on my head correctly. I have a pair of reading glasses from the dollar store that sit on my head better. I went to Glendora Wal-Mart Vision Center a few days before Christmas of 2011. I didn't get a copy of a list of the covered providers under my insurance plan yet and I needed new glasses fast and it was only about 5 minutes from where I lived. I went to Target to get my eyes checked before that, which incidentally came out cheaper with the exam fee compared to Wal-Mart’s but I know the frames from Target are more expensive and more loud with designer names. I opted for the $9 frames, which at this point is not the problem. I really liked the style of the frames I chose--it was the perfect fit for my face and didn't have the look-at-me designer label.
I was very pleased with the service I got from the ladies at the center--very helpful. The problem was at their lab. I got a call from Wal-Mart after 10 days which I thought was quick but I soon realized that when I put it on, I couldn't see on my right eye because the grade was wrong. It was supposed to be 6.75 and what I had on the frame was 0.75. I could understand why there might've been confusion there, so I sent the glasses back. I got another call after maybe 7 days--still quick, I thought. But when I got there the lens on the right side were sticking out of the front part of the frame, which I don't understand because my glasses have always been a different grade on each eye with a difference of 0.50 but the left lens is not sticking out and none of my lenses ever stuck out on the front part of the frames before.
On the back part, of course, that's a given when your grade is high. So I sent it back to the lab and I told the lady at the service center, "Don't they check it first before they send it out to you guys?" Her response was: “Yeah, I know. Quality assurance, right?” She was right on the money--it was exactly what I was thinking. When I left the store I told her that I hope they get it right after that because if not, then it would be the third time I’d have to send it back. But I thought to myself that if they got it wrong again, I will just have to cancel my order. And sure enough I got my call after 7 days after the second send-back. When I got there, surprise, surprise--they still didn't get it right.
Same problem: lens still sort of sticking out, though not quite as much as before. But if you wore the glasses you'd still look like a freak show with those lenses being obviously unevenly applied to the frames, and when I was trying to push it in to see if it might fix the problem the lens actually started coming loose already, almost to the point of coming off. It was exhaustingly frustrating on my part. I went ahead and told the girl that I’m just going to cancel my order having waited this long already.
I think I can wait a few more days and get my service through my insurance provider. But then, with my luck that day, their satellite was down and therefore cannot do the cancellation of order--no computer service. I changed my mind and told them I couldn't understand why the people at the lab couldn't get it right. I know my frames were dirt cheap and asked them if the frames were the problem but the lady told me this is one of our bestsellers and that the workers in the lab do it everyday and they couldn't understand either why they are performing very poorly.
Maybe if you couldn't do it right, maybe they shouldn't have a vision center at all. I love Wal-Mart and how they help me save money and have never been frustrated by any of their service or products before but this experience at the vision center is so ridiculous! And I would write ridiculous in bold capital letters if I could!

The problem I addressed was how I was denied my personal information pertaining to my PD (pupillary distance). I complained to Vision Quest and to Wal-Mart about the way I was treated by Deanna at the Wal-Mart Vision Center on Carlisle Blvd. She was rude and disrespectful. I complained that I had never been treated so horribly as a customer before.

It is absurd that I had to wait a month and a half to get permission for my information. It is incomprehensible that they would expect me to ever speak to that rude person again. I can see that they value this rude, untrained person over a long time customer. Their decision to have me go back to the same rude person to get the information I should have gotten easily in the first place showed poor judgment and a complete lack of consideration of how their customers feel. I told them they could keep your ** number and keep that rude person they hold dearly as their representative. Their resolution to this problem was pathetic and insincere. Be advised that WalMart Vision Centers sell only the frames they carry in stock. You are limited to the frame sizes they stock which will only likely be the common high-volume sizes. My experience at regular optical providers is that they measure your eyes and face to determine the size that will best fit you and then order that size in the frame you have selected. This does not occur at WalMart. The sizes include the width across the bridge, the width of the frame or lens, the height of the lens and the length of the earpieces or temples.
My experience at WalMart is that the consumer is responsible for assuring that the fit is correct. You become the optician. My belief is, since they could not get the correct size, they were generally unwilling to indicate that a size was probably not correct and simply let me decide if it was right. Not being schooled in the dimensions and aspects of a correct fit, it’s unlikely I would really get the correct fit.

I paid $85 for an eye exam. When they quoted me the glasses for simple distance vision with a 70.00 frame, they wanted over $100 more for the lenses. Being a senior citizen, I told them I could not afford that and paid for the eye examination only. I've had many glasses made there for myself and my son, but this is the last pair. I have a call into the regional manager and more than likely will quit shopping at Wal-Mart for everything because of what happened. I paid $140 for food there the same day.
I came home and checked online at a place called Zenni Optical. The same glasses would cost me $20 total and that means frames and lenses! I tried to fill everything in off my prescription and it stated, I must have my PD for the glasses to fit me correctly. I called back to Wal-Mart within hours of the exam, that very much has the PD measurements, and they wouldn't give it to me. They said it's company policy. I then called another Wal-Mart and she stated that "the company doesn't like us to give it out but I do because legally it is yours!"
I've called Peachtree City Wal-Mart Vision a total of 4 times in the past day and no one there will give it too me including the doctor. Today I called Vision Works and asked what they would charge to do the PD. They stated I would have to get a whole new eye exam but theirs is only $45.00 where I paid Wal-Mart $85. They also stated the same thing, that legally that was mine and that I had paid for it.
You are crooks! If I have to go to Vision Works to get a new exam to get the PD. so be it! They are 1/2 the price for an eye exam and I'm still cheaper getting the glasses from Zenni. But I guess you guys know that already. That it the sole reason you will not give me my PD! Shame on you. I buy food and clothes in Wal-Mart but not any more. And if follow up is not done before they expire, then they charge you a fee to put new lenses on to check before they will write you a prescription. Then, they quote North Dakota law to you, which I researched.
And it is true that follow up is required. However, by giving a patient 30-day contacts and not fully disclosing that follow up needs to be done within those 30 days as opposed to 90 days for "free" is an underhanded business practice. It cost nearly $200 for the exam and initial pair of contacts. Now an additional fee will have to be paid. So much for a "free" follow up! They may be able to legally back up what they do, but ethically not even close! Also, for this complaint to be submitted, I had to rate my overall experience with at least one star. That’s unfortunate because they don't deserve even that!

I would like to file a personal complaint about the treatment I received on December 1, 2011 at the Vision Center located in the Wal-mart on Carlisle and Menaul in Albuquerque New Mexico.
I was trying to find out information about getting prescription motorcycle goggles and was told I needed my PD (pupillary distance). I was told I could contact the place that made my last pair of glasses, which was the Wal-Mart Vision Center on Carlisle Blvd. I told the Vision Center representative, Deanna, a young lady with a pierced lip and tattoos on her arm, that I needed to know my pupillary distance (PD). She abruptly stated she would not tell me that information. I told her that I got my glasses there and needed to know what the measurement was. She again stated she would not tell me and that I would have to get it from the eye doctor. When I contacted my eye doctor, he said he had never heard of someone not giving out that information. He said he did not have it as it was a measurement made at the Vision Center.
I went back to the Vision Center and Deanna was on the phone with a customer. After about ten minutes, she got off the phone and rather than talking to me, she went to the back office and got on the phone again. I waited another twenty minutes and when she came back I told her what my eye doctor had said. She said she had been on the phone with her supervisor and that they stood by the decision not to tell me. She said I should have asked for the number when I purchased the glasses.
I didn't know I would need to ask what the number was and certainly didn't think I would be denied access to such information. The PD is a measurement of my eyes and no one elses. It is a number I feel I paid for when I purchased the glasses. It applies only to me and there is no market value in keeping it as proprietary information. Wal-Mart or the Vision Center had no capabilities to provide me with prescription motorcycle goggles, so the number is only useful to me.
Not letting me have the number because of privacy restrictions are absolutely absurd. Privacy restrictions were never intended to keep information about myself private from myself. I can see no other valid reason for this person’s behavior other than she was misinformed or just a hostile person. Either way, what she did was wrong.
I have been purchasing my glasses at the Vision Center since 2006. I purchased my glasses, my son's glasses, and my brothers' glasses there and have always been treated fairly and respectfully. I have always been treated with respect and everyone I have dealt with was nice and friendly. I have never encountered anyone so rude since I have been a customer.
When I realized that this hostility was to continue without resolution, I asked for the name of Deanna’s supervisor. She handed me a business card with this address on it and said I could call Shane, at 1-800-637-3597, extension 2204. She said Shane was the one she had been on the phone with after I came in.
I believe employing a person with such minute communications skills is something that should be addressed by Vision Center and Wal-Mart immediately. I would think it would be in your best interest to terminate this person immediately. I would also suggest you terminate the one she referred to as Shane, her supervisor, and his supervisor as well if he is part of this absurd behavior. Further, if this is an official policy, you should inform your customers that after they purchase the glasses, they will be treated as a criminal from that date on.

This Wal-Mart I took my daughter to in Wisconsin Dells is not only rude and unprofessional, but lacks to do their job. I called to get my daughter’s prescription and order contacts. The receptionist was rude and said she didn’t have a prescription. I just took her in and paid cash for her appointment in July. She was given a trial pair to wear. She only wore them till the eye glasses came in. She loves her glasses, so she doesn’t wear her contacts much. She is in Judo, and tournaments are approaching. So, I decided to fill her prescription for contacts. This is when they said my daughter didn’t make a follow up appointment, so I needed to come in and pay for a new appointment and redo everything.
Talk about ripping someone off. You would think that they would have made mention about a follow up being needed within 30 days before we had left. I would have made the appointment right then and there. So, them lacking to do their job is a way to make more money. For the record, this is not the first time for her to have contacts. I had gotten the prescription for Wal-Mart optical from her previous eye dr. from the year before. I myself wear contacts, and never had to do a follow up after my appointment. I always got my prescription. What the hell. This really ** me off. What happened to the “customer is always right”? I can’t take it that they are wrong in not doing their jobs. Thanks for ripping us off.

Explained that they are out of lens for my son and then said, "You can speak now." I did not respond to her rudeness. I just asked to speak with the doctor. I wanted to know where else he could go. She refused to give the doctor the message and told me that she feels she already helped me. I was frantic at this point. I had an appointment for 11 o'clock (follow-up), to correct the Rx. I showed up 20 minutes early, and the rude front end lady tells me, that I will have to wait up to 2 hours to be seen. I said forget it, just give me a refund. They refused. So I just walked out. Her IQ was too low to even argue.
They stole my money. You get what you pay for. I should have just paid twice the price, for a real eye exam. Wal-Mart is a terrible company.

On April 21, 2011 my wife and I purchased eyeglasses from the Vision Center in Wal-Mart, located at ** Greensboro,NC. We sat down with Tammie to review what our cost would be, after comparing what my vision plan would cover. EyeMed Vision Care, Insight Plan H, was my vision plan. Tammie worked with EyeMed Vision Care on coverage under my vision plan on the eyeglasses and lens type while we sat. We discussed what was covered and what wasn't covered, and in making our selection we were given a printout of our cost, and that was to be paid at the time of pickup.
My wife (Mattie) work sheet showed a balance of $0.00, and mine (Jimmy) showed a balance due of $94.20. This was taken care at time of pickup. Two months later, I received a payment request from The Vision Center inside Wal-Mart with a balance due of $133.40 for my wife, and a balance due of $144.00 for me. There seems to be some type of con game being played. I have not been able to workout anything with the Customer Service Department. My eyeglasses selection was based on what my cost would be.

I bought a pair of glasses at Walmart on Bobby Jones Expressway while visiting in Augusta, GA back in March. They weren't good glasses for me, so I returned them and got my money back. I was unaware at the time, but the VSP vision insurance money Walmart got paid was not returned to VSP. I got back to Texas the first week of October and went to a TSO to get new glasses. They told me that the computer showed my yearly benefit had been used. I explained about the Walmart incident, so they called VSP to see what was going on. That's when I discovered that Walmart had kept the insurance money.
It's Nov. 17 and I have been trying to get Walmart to send the insurance money back to VSP since early October. Both myself and a rep for VSP have spoken with the Augusta vision center manager, Eric, and he keeps saying that corporate has or will be sending the money back, but they have not. I called Walmart Corp. customer service today and filed a complaint. I could not get the phone number of anyone to call; they have to send an email to the proper person, and they can take 3 to 5 business days to get back to me. I feel like Walmart is holding my vision insurance benefit hostage. If they don't return the money before the end of the year, I'll lose my entire benefit for this year. Meanwhile, my vision is being affected by wearing glasses that are too weak for me now.

I purchased a pair of glasses from my local Wal-Mart Vision Center and opted for the Anti-Glare Coating that they offer. Within a month, the glasses had to be replaced because the lenses themselves had begun to "split" from the inside our all around the edges. Almost as if the lenses had been slightly damaged during the cutting/grinding process. I was quickly attended to and the glasses came back in great condition with new lenses.
I treat my glasses very well (I do not put them in pockets, my purse etc. ) so there are no scratches on the lenses, even to this day nearly 4 years later. However, the Anti-Glare has been coming off since about a year into wearing them. When I took them in to see if they could be re-coated or possible have the coating stripped off, I was told that neither could be done.
The sales associate actually suggested I had damaged my lenses and that I had used chemicals to clean them which was taking the coating off. I insisted on the amount of care I used and that I only use water and a soft cloth to clean them but was not "heard". I liked the optical center and will return but I will never again pay for the Anit-Glare coating. It is not worth the value and to be truthful, I never noticed a lack of "glare" in my view.

I have been a patient of the Vision Center for two years now. After my most recent exam in April 2011, I was told by the doctor that the vision in my right eye may become quite worse in the next few years and to follow up sooner than a year as needed. I was a cash-paying patient until October 2011. I called for an appointment two weeks ago and informed the recipient of my call that I needed the right eye to be re-examined. I told her of the trouble that I am having. This is causing disruption to my work and driving, as well. She asked if I had insurance. I stated that I did. I was advised that they only accept a certain number of insurance patients per day, and that there are no appointments available until the 21st.
When I explained the vision problem, I was told to just tell the doctor about it when I come in. I feel completely discriminated against as an insured patient and find it hard to believe that this is how Walmart chooses to treat patients. I even went in to the store today to ask about a trial pair of lenses until my appointment on Friday (as a pair of lenses is better than none and I didn't want to purchase a full box if the Rx had changed) and was told that they cant' give me lenses until I see the doctor. Even though my new script was written in April. I have been pleased with the doctor and staff in the past but then again I was a "cash patient".

I would like to write a complaint about the people writing these complaints. I understand it is frustrating when a shopping exeperience is not what you want it to be but some of these reviews of Walmart are ridiculous. It reinforces the idea that people sometimes have unrealistic expectations, quick tempers and a finger for which they like to point at everyone else but themselves. Like the person who was upset that she had to fill out a medical history, even though she had done one in 2007. Why is this even a problem? The page takes just a few minutes to fill out. Or what about the person who went back to Walmart after a year because he had an unidentified smug on his lens? If you who wear the glasses everyday don't know where it came from, why would Walmart? Or the woman who was upset because she scratched her lenses and thought the Walmart associate who told her they were "scratch-resistant not scratch-proof" was rude. It is the truth. Why is it Walmart's fault that you scratched your lenses?
Or how about the woman who wanted to buy color contacts and was upset that her doctor wouldn't release an Rx for them because that was something she neglected to tell her doctor she was interested in during the exam? I mean come on, really? What kind of expectations do some of these people have about glasses? When it comes to glasses and scratching think of them like cars. Sixty years ago cars weighed a ton and were mostly made of metal. This was great if you got into a fender bender but not so good on gas consumption. People wanted more advanced cars and so the auto industry started making cars out of fiberglass. This was great for gas consumption but not so good for car accidents. Glasses are used to have lenses made of glass. Which was great for being all but scratch proof, but they were heavy and would shatter causing eye injures if hit with enough pressure. So the next revolution to come out was plastic lenses. Lighter and more comfortable than glass but not as scratch-resistant. So yes, glasses are not as scratch-resistant as they "used to be" but they provide the best visual optics matched with comfort and style.
I just shake my head when I read these compliants. People need to take some responsibility for what they do. Glasses are not indestructible and today's environment (with aerosols, kitchen and bath cleaning sprays, no time for anything therefore I clean my glasses with paper towels and the bottom of my shirt, or place them in my pockets with my keys or in my purse) is not good for the life of your glasses! Be nice to the Walmart employees because they are just trying to help you and they don't get paid enough to listen to some of these unwarranted complaints.

I purchased a pair of no-line bifocals on 1/11/11 after realizing I could save some money at Wal-Mart over my doctor's office. I was sorry as soon as I received them. They were foggy and seemed to be dirty all of the time. I went back to Wal-Mart. The ladies said that I needed to just clean them more. She then cleaned them and sent me on my way. I then tried to keep working and wrestling with them as I had just spent my money on a pair of glasses that did not work! I went back in to Wal-Mart and complained again that I could not see well. The lady there asked if I had a bifocal. After I told her that I did, she said that in order for me to be able to see right, I had to turn my nose toward whatever I wanted to see clearly. In other words, the whole lens was not made to see through. I have worn bifocals for 10 years and am not quite that stupid.
I finally had the funds to go back to my eye doctor and let him know what was going on. He said that he had heard of my complaints before from other patients. As his lab tech looked at the markings on the lenses, he could not even match them up with any of the known lens manufacturers that he had listed in his records. In other words, these lenses are some cheap generic. I have had to pay for another pair from a trusted lab. I can see and don't have to "turn my nose in the direction of what I want to see clearly". I am going to be going for my money back. I have Wal-Mart's lenses in my possession.

I had an appointment today. I last went to Walmart four years ago for an eye examination after going to private eye doctors from the age of 7. Well, I decided that I would not be able to see the Pittsburgh Steelers real well at their game on Sunday so I decided to call and get an exam.
I called on Monday and got an appointment on Tues. When I went in, I was given a page to complete for a new patient, but I was not a new patient. They said if it's been 5 years, they don't have records. They said I was there in 2007 and that is 5 years (um, hello, that's 4). Okay, so then I completed their ridiculous form then the doctor called me in, cigarette breath blowing in my face, asked me to read the smallest line. I can read it. I thought this would be better. Then after 5 minutes she said, "I can make your vision better". I said she told me that before, and she said she told me to come back in 1 year. I then said she didn't or I would have been there, the doctor said, "I write it on the bottom of each chart", and I replied, "I did not read the chart". Bottom line is, I am never coming back again, I will stand up and shout to the mountain tops, "Don't go to Walmart for an eye exam, unlike what I told you before, they are not professional". You are a great corporation, please make this correction!

It has scratch resistant coating and transitional lenses. The first pair of glasses were damaged beyond repair. I purchased an identical pair of glasses on 11/28/2008 for the same price (cost $485.78). I did not purchase another frame. When I went back to have my frame adjusted, I talked to the tech about a smudge on the right lens and scratches on the lens. No one was able to explain the abnormalities in the lens. After all, I bought the top of the line because I thought these glasses would last a while.
I asked to talk to the doctor several times about the lenses. I was told that it would not do any good to speak to the doctor. They said that he has no involvement but the exam. I went to another Wal-Mart to talk to the doctor. I was told the doctor has no involvement other than the exam. Wal-Mart would give me a 20% discount on another pair. I understand that minimal scratches would happen, but I have never had a pair that didn't even make it through the first year. I really do not think that they applied scratch-resistant on them. I also had to take frames back just about a month ago in August because the screws would not stay screwed in. Incompetence, rude employees, condescending, unavailable and arrogant. This has been the absolute worst vision care at any Optometry center that I, at age 52, have ever had the misfortune to trust! I specifically requested a contact eye exam and fitting. They charged me for glasses and a contact fitting at $30 more than what I was informed. The bifocal lenses were the wrong fit. I telephoned the doctor and the manager, but they were not available (3 times) when I called. The doctor dismissed my deep concerns about not seeing up close or far. I'm without using Walmart's embarrassing reading glasses (the reading glasses were Dr. **'s solution)
They had no modern machines to measure my eyes, which are perfectly suitable for bifocals and just not the brand they were pushing. Finally, exasperated at driving to and from to have a word with the summa cum laude staff, I just had to wait another! A week for the manager to mail the single vision contacts to me. Go figure, they mislabeled the package. Can you believe it? I can. I waited 2 weeks for the contacts to get to Walmart. The disclaimer form gives patrons a whole 30 days to get all messes cleared up. I paid in full and services rendered are entirely non-refundable, within 30 days of original exam date. Also, I agree that any questions regarding my prescription must be presented within 30 days of receiving my prescription. After that period, more fees will apply.
Walmart Vision Center made no effort to work with me for a truly, proper fit for my vision care. I highly suggest to stay out of any Walmart Vision stores. The treatment I received was deplorable, deceptive and every bad word I can think of for the service of just-children staffers and one old man.

I recently purchased my eyeglasses again from Walmart, as I have for many years. This time, I purchased not only my eyeglasses, but prescription sunglasses. Even though my total bill was $550.00, I felt it was worth it since I have always been satisfied with Walmart Vision Center over the years. The "$99.00 specials" for two pairs from their competitors didn't seem worth the risk. I purchased these on 1/26/11. And as always, I got the "scratch resistant" lenses. They said they are at no extra cost.
But let's face it. It is always built into the overall cost somewhere. In any case, my lenses have been appearing to have a shadow on them. I would just clean them (with a micro-fiber cloth) but would not see any difference. Upon closer inspection, I found scratches on both lenses. I am very puzzled on how that happened, as I am 68 years old and take extreme care of my eyewear. $550.00 does not come easy these days. I went to the Walmart Vision Center where I purchase these. And a different lady than who I purchased them waited on me. She took them to another room, cleaned them and returned. She said that my glasses were "scratch resistant" - not "scratch proof"! She then continued to tell me that I must have been wiping the lenses from side to side instead of in a "circular" motion. She also said that I must always use a spray liquid cleaner before wiping, and that's what caused the scratches.
I've read all the pamphlets. And I don't see any reference to these instructions. Besides, who the hell carries a bottle of cleaner around with them? From my years of experience of using micro-fiber, it has always been sufficient, and never left scratches before. This woman was patronizing, and matter-of-factly like I was some sort of dummy. I take exception to that kind of treatment. And if Walmart does not make good on this matter, they will never see my business again. I believe 40 years of being a patron of this firm should mean something. I am not threatening. I'm just stating a fact. I can spend my thousands of dollars each year somewhere else. I know that big companies such as this really don't give a damn about a single customer. But sooner or later, we all add up.
Thank you for your attention in this matter. If nothing else, I feel better getting it off my chest, as I have never done this before.Sincerely,

I had looked all around and after finding the right ones that fit my face the best--I made an appointment to see the doctor.
I showed the lady at the desk the ones I wanted. She said they would work and I went back in a couple days later.
When I got there I saw the doctor, and everything had went smooth while I waited. I was looking at the frames again; the same lady from before came over, and was showing me different frames and styles that was fine, but I still wanted to get the frames I seen the other day.
When I put them on to see myself in them again, she started putting them down. She said they were ugly, and too big for my face. She also said that they wouldn't look right, and people would know. On top, of that she kept trying to sell me the most expensive lenses. I told her more than once I didn't have vision insurance. After I told her that, she tried to show me the little kid’s frames-- that were $9.
I wanted the frames I had seen from the beginning. They were going to be on my face and I was going to have to wear them. So, I should get what I want, and I feel nice in. She got loud and said she knew what she was talking about and added, “Don’t bring them back in when they don't work out.”
I thought she would never stop with her rudeness. I finally told her I didn't need help; I knew what I wanted, and that I was getting them. Instead of her walking away and saying, “Okay”. She said, “ I have been working here for 18 years and I know what I am talking about.” She lies because the Wal-Mart she works at had only been there maybe 5 years. I just couldn't take it anymore. I just got up and left after I paid for my exam.
Luckily, we have two Wal-Marts where I live; so, I went to the other one. The lady there was really nice. I had a better experience there. I will never go back to the other one. They are rude, loud and talk too much crap about everyone-- so unprofessional.

Upon receiving the glasses, I tried them for a week but found them far too powerful on the long distance and experienced severe headaches, but the reading lens were fine. Upon asking for adjustment, I was informed I had waited too long to fill the prescription and I would need a new eye test which I would have to pay for. I asked for a renewal of my old glasses but was informed too bad by very unfriendly staff. They already had my money, $323, and satisfaction was not part of the bargain.

I purchase Progressive transition lens from the Vision Center on 5 July 2010. After a couple of weeks, I returned back to the center complaining that these lenses have some type of substance on them that smudges the lenses. The associate tried cleaning the lenses and saw that they were still smudged after cleaning. She cleaned them again and wiped them for several more minutes until the smudges went away and asked me if I used oils or hairspray when doing my hair, and I told her no. I don't need my glasses on when doing my hair, and no, I did not use hairspray or oils, and if I did, common sense would tell me to take them off before using this kind of products.
Since then, I have been back into that Vision Care Center 3 more times complaining about the lenses having some kind of oily residue on them. The store manager took the glasses and went into the backroom and took the lenses out and came back and told me there was a greasy substance around the inside of the lenses’ frames. She removed the grease and wiped the lenses’ frames with alcohol and said this should fix the problem. She did not know why the lenses had grease around the frames. However, that did not solve the problem.
I came back into the store a month or so later, complaining about the same issue. The manager cleaned the lenses again and said she did not see anything wrong with them and stated that if I was still not satisfied with the lenses, to bring my receipt in and she would refund me my money. After another couple of weeks, I came back in and told her I would like my money back, I still was not satisfied with these lenses. I still have to clean them 5 to 6 times a day to get the smudges off them so I can see. I have had Progressive transition lenses for the past 15 years and have never had a problem like this. The manager told me that the warranty was no longer valid (after 90 days) and there was nothing she could do.
And she did not think there was a defect in the lenses. She questioned my integrity as if I was lying about me having to clean the lenses 5 to 6 times a day. What would I gain from this? Whatever happened to customer service? These lenses cost me over $350, and most of the time, I don't wear them because I can't see out of them for the smudge marks. I feel that there is some type of material defect in the coating or something that is making the lenses smear when you clean them, and would like to get my money back.
This is my first and last purchase I will ever make at the Walmart Vision Center. They tell you to keep coming back until your 90 days period is up and then tell you they can't help you. Also, I do not recall them telling me I only had 90 days to get a refund. If that was the case, I definitely would have gotten a refund before the 90-day time frame was expired. There is nothing on my receipt that states I have 90 days to exchange or get a refund. If that is the company policy, then it needs to be put in writing and given to the customer or posted where it can be seen. I expect some type of action to be taken to correct this problem. I do not have $350 lying around to buy another pair of glasses.

I called and made an appointment for an eye exam several days ago. My appointment was scheduled for today, April 29, 2011, at 2:00 pm. At the time of the appointment, I told the clerk the name of my insurance and that they were referred to me by my insurance company. When I showed up for my appointment, the receptionist looked at me and stated they did not accept my insurance. It was upsetting to me as I am **, and I listened as a white lady was told her insurance was acceptable. I then called my insurer and was told that Vision Center was listed as a provider under my plan. I went back again and asked for a manager, whose name was Dulce (she refused to give me her last name).
She told me that I should go to Sears in Oakland as they do not have a contract with my insurer. She told me that they had called them and told them to stop sending customers. Strangely, she showed me nothing in writing, and did not mention writing them anything. If you have a written contract to provide services, you have to have it in writing to break the contract (DAAH). I am through with Walmart and the racist ignorant attitudes. The eye doctor’s name was Henry **, and he never came out to speak to me, nor find out what was going on. Gas is expensive and I drove over 10 miles to have these people treat me like crap.
It is emotionally devastating for me as a senior citizen to be treated like I do not matter. I do not know whether they were looking at my age, race, or disability, and frankly don't care. I am 64 years old and require glasses to drive and see. I am on a fixed income and disabled to boot. I could not believe the attitudes and unprofessional behavior of these people. They blatantly lied to my face by saying my insurer would not pay for an exam. I am out of gas money and time wasted on this matter.

I went into Walmart today, March 31, 2011, and saw that the vision center was empty. I walked over to make an appointment for an eye exam. I was asked by the woman sitting behind the counter if I had insurance; I replied yes and pulled out my card. I went to hand it to her and without looking at it, she asked who was it with. I replied the name on the card, FEPBlue coverage.
She then, she told me that I have to call the company to get the administrator of my plan and the member ID number. I told her the admin company's name and that the number was on the card. I couldn't read the number, it was a small print and there was a reason why I was standing in an eye doctor's office trying to get an appointment.
She told me that the numbers are not usually on the cards and I had to call my provider. I tried explaining that I was in this very office two to three weeks ago, purchasing glasses for my child when she interrupted me and said that the optical department was on a different computer system and the information couldn't be looked up.
I had my doubts about this but asked her if this was normal procedure. She said, "Yes, we don't have time to make a dozen phone calls for people." I remind readers why I was standing there in the first place--the store was empty. Literally no customers. By this time, I am feeling a little frustrated and I tried explaining again that I had the information they needed and all she had to do was look at the card. She interrupted me again and said in very rude manner, "Sir, you have to call your insurance company. We will not do this for you." In mid sentence, I walked away from her.
I returned home and called my insurance carrier from the number listed on the card. I had my glasses on and could easily read the number that said Member ID on the card. I spoke with a customer service rep and explained what I needed. She said all that information is on your card and asked if I gave the vision center my card. I related my story and she was very surprised--so surprised, in fact, that she called the vision center while I was on the phone listening in. The witchy vision center clerk hung up on her.
So needless to say, the vision center at the Walmart in Brick, NJ run by Dr. Deborah **, OD, will never get another dime from me. If anyone from the Walmart corporation sees this or maybe even the good Dr. Deborah **, OD, herself, I hope that some action will be taken. The clerk was a short, chunky, short, dyed brown-haired middle aged lady with glasses.

I visited the Walmart vision center about a year ago for an eye exam and contact lens fitting. Dr. Susan *** examined my eyes then gave me a total of three different lenses to try out for one week each. She did not keep track of which lenses there were, however, so when the time came for the office to give me my prescription for the correct lenses and power, they had no idea which ones I was wearing, or the actual power. I was handed a prescription with the instructions to :cross my fingers that it's the right one. I'm not kidding. They really said this to me. I crossed my fingers and went online to order contacts, but my order was rejected by the company because the vision center has put the wrong expiration date on my prescription. it was off by a year. I had to call the office three times to get this fixed. It ended taking over a month to receive contacts because it took so long for the prescription to be corrected.
Yesterday, I tried to order contacts online again but it was rejected because my prescription had expired. Against my better judgment, I made an appointment at the Walmart vision center for an eye exam and new prescription so that I can order contacts. I thought things might go smoother this time, since I'm now a repeat customer. I had to wait 30 minutes past the time of my appointment for my eye exam not to mention that the girl who gave me my glaucoma test told me that she's "not too great at it, so don't move." Since I don't have insurance, I paid a portion of the exam fee, and asked to be billed for the rest, which they agreed to. When I asked for my prescription, they refused to give it to me, saying I won't get it until I pay for the exam in full. Is this even legal?

This in not a complaint, but a compliment. I have been wearing glasses my entire life and always expect to pay $200+ for my glasses. I was referred to Walmart for my eye exam by a friend and was pleasantly surprised. I had one of the most detailed eye exams ever, had very professional help selecting my eye wear and ended up spending less than $150 for everything. I was originally told that the glasses would take between 7-10 days.
A very friendly associate called me after only three days to notify me that my glasses were ready for pick up. I arrived at 8:00 PM as the optical associate was walking out (they had just closed). He saw me and asked me if he could help me. I told him that I was picking up my glasses. He proceeded to turn the lights on and spent 10 minutes fitting my glasses to my face. I have to say that the entire experience was exceptional. I have been reading many of the complaints on this website and believe that these things can happen at any optical.

I wanted to get a new pair of glasses so I went to the WalMart Vision Center as they call it to see about getting set up right. I took the eye exam and the eye Doctor, if that is what you want to call him, told me what I needed after the exam so i said OK lets order them.
After some time they came into the store. So I went back and the Dr. put them on me and said that it will take a while to get use to this kind of glasses because they are not like plain glasses. They are called tunnel glasses. I think about that for a second. He said that the glasses are for looking straight ahead and not for looking from side to side without turning your head. Because of the way they are made it is like looking through a glass tunnel and things in the sides of the glasses would be out of focus.
I used the glasses for several days and had to go back when the Dr. says, "lets check your eyes and see if the eye glasses are right". And guess what they had then in the wrong strength so he had to order new lens and it took another several days to get them in.
So when they got them back in the store, I went back and the girl at the desk put the new lens in and said, "there you go" and I just looked at her and said, do you think we should try them out before I leave? I think about that for a second. I put them on and she said, "read this". I had to tilt my head back in order to be able to read the print and she said can you see it. I told her if I tilt my head back I could and she said it would take some time for me to learn to use then give it about a week or so and if I had any problem just need to call them.
After about a week, I was having trouble to see with them and they was sitting on my face one side higher than the other. So I went back to get them set to my face and they guy that came out made several adjustments to them until they felt OK on me. So I said thank you and if I have any problems I would let them know. He said that this was my last visit for free and the next time, I would have to get an appointment to see the Dr. and I would have to pay because the glasses was only covered for 30 days and after that they were mine. Today was my last day and to think i paid $374.50 for this crap and now I had to go get a pair off the rack at another store just so I can read things and I gave like $8.00 for the pair I use now until I can get to a real eye glass place and get me a new pair made. But I can tell you this WAL*MART vision center will never get another dime from me and if you go to them to get your glasses, good luck! It is all I can say.

I have recently visited Vision Care to have my eyes examined and to order new lenses for my eye glasses. Everything leading up to, including my eye examination with Marcus **, was professional. Everything thereafter was just sloppy, but not until I picked up my glasses on Friday July 30, did I realize the scope of the sloppiness.
The associate broke my eye glass frames while trying to replace the old lenses with the new ones. My $275 frames were no longer useable. Both the store manager and the associate knew the importance of these glasses to me. I had purchased the frames in Germany. I was disappointed and shocked when the store manager came out to tell me that my glasses had been broken while trying to take out the right lens of my glasses. The store manager gave me damaged frames with an apologize and refund for the lenses of $189.
In addition, the office manager stated that this is why we don't like to put new lenses in frames that a customer brings in. However, both the manager and associate initially assured me that Vision Care could put new lenses in my old frames. Had either one warned me of the possibility of damaging my glasses, then I would have not moved ahead in purchasing new lenses for my eye glass frame.
I returned to another optometrist where I had purchased my original frames. I called Vision Care and requested faxing my prescription to this optometrist store which was done. When the optometrist examined my glasses, she discovered that the lenses in the broken frames had been reversed. That is, my right lens, the stronger one, was placed in the left eye glass frame and the right in the opposite one. I recalled mentioning to the associate after she took out the lenses for measuring that something was different about my glasses and continued to think so, for nearly a week while awaiting my new lenses. She assured me that they were the same lenses. She didn't even check. The associate had mistakenly reverse them. Left lens for the right eye; the right lens for the left eye. This is clearly demonstrating a lack of skill and carelessness on her part and partly explains why she broke my frames.
I'm angry about my broken frames, imported from Germany-- but my sense is that this could have been prevented had the associate been a little more careful had she returned the lenses to their correct side. Then my frame breakage would not have happened. I am now wearing a temporary pair of glasses sun glasses, which restricts me from driving at night until my replacements are ready. My new glasses will cost me nearly $200. Because of my inconvenience and this added cost, I expect Walmart Vision Care to pay the complete cost of replacing my eye glass frame.

I had to go back because it was still not right. He gave me another exam and said my right eye had changed. I told him I was seeing flashes of light and asked, "are you seeing dots or anything?". I told him no and he replied, "good, then you don't have a torn retina". I got my new glasses, but still couldn't see. The eye glass people said that the place on my glasses where you are supposed to look through was not where it was supposed to be, so she ordered another right lens. I went to get the lens and still could not see out of my right eye.
She said I would have to make another appointment with the doctor. I went to a professional and he dilated my left eye, and right away saw I had a big tumor in it. He sent me to a specialist that day and then to the University Of Washington. I have melanoma in my right eye and have to have it removed this Friday. When I got there and tried them on, the close up vision was not as clear as my older scratched lens so I asked why I could not see as well with my older lens and I was told that on refitting they would order the lens - 1/4.
I asked why and she said it was just what they had to do unless I paid for a new exam. Since these were safety glasses, I took them anyway and was told by several people that it was not supposed to be done. They had to go by the script so I called the store manager and was told they would find out what was going on. I didn't hear from them so I called a week and half later and was told they (the manager of the vision part) had said no one had told me that. I was desperately in need of a new pair of glasses so I thought going to Walmart (about 30 miles away) would get me a pair of glasses very quickly and at a cost I could afford. I should have done my research so it’s partially my fault. However, after taking an eye exam (which costs $58.00) I was fitted for new glasses and even with a 20% discount I get from my health insurance, I ended up paying (including exam) $339.00, and if that wasn’t bad enough, I have to wait 10 days to get the glasses.
Walmart Vision Centers are in no way a better deal than anywhere else. I just hope they get the glasses right and I don’t have to keep going back. Now I have to struggle to see for the next 10 days as I really thought I would get the glasses quicker (they should have an option for that). I asked her to put them on a machine and test them. She said she couldn't do that with a progressive lens? She suggested I wear them a while and get used to them.
I've been wearing bifocals for 10 years. I pulled out a cheap pair of non prescription bifocal reading glasses and told her again that there were no bifocals in the left lens. I wear my glasses all the time. When I go to bed, I put them on the night stand when I get up that is the first thing I reach for. I don't abuse them. I would like to know if other people have this problem.

I took an Amish couple there for eye exams and glasses. The glasses got here last week, and his weren't right. We went down, and the doctor told him to wear them for two weeks, that it would take two weeks to adjust to them. I have worn glasses for almost 50 years, and have never been told it takes two weeks. It has only been one week, and today he had on his old glasses, and said he had to use a magnifier glass up close to the new glasses to read. Went down, and was told doctor wasn't in on Mon and Thur. The woman was rude, and acted like my friend was mentally **, and couldn't understand. After reading all of these other letters, I am scared my friend is out his over 300 dollars, and stuck. We are going down tomorrow to see the doctor, and see what happens. If it goes badly, I am filing a complaint with the optometry association, and the Attorney General, and anyone else I can.
Everyone who has complained, needs to write to the BBB and make a formal complaint, as well as contact their state's medical association. This is exactly why I haven't shopped in walmart for 4 months. I hate them, they don't care about anything but money. And you need to count your prescriptions too. I got an antibiotic filled, the pills were $2.50 each, and was supposed to have 10. I got home and only had 7, not bad profit for them, you figure almost 8 dollars they got of mine, but didn't actually give me the pills? And the reason I know they did it on purpose, is there was no problem when I called them, they said oh they made a mistake. Can't count to 10, give them a job in the pharmacy.

I purchased glasses at the Vision Center located in Wal-Mart. Within a year, the lenses were virtually useless due to a haze that had developed on the surface. I was told that a non-reflective coating had been damaged. Vision Center implied that I had cleaned the lenses improperly. I have worn glasses for forty years, am well educated and reasonably responsible. I know how to clean classes, what to use, what not to use and exercised particular care with these lenses as they cost over $350.00.
The personnel at Vision Center seemed to be trained in a kind of assault tactic when dealing with customer concerns. I was immediately attacked with accusations that I had been using some sort of abrasive to clean the lenses. I make no allowance for such rantings, so to save my time and breath, I have since gone elsewhere to replace the glasses.

I purchased a pair of glasses from Wal-Mart Vision Care in Mobile Alabama in June of 2008. The glasses were bad quality from day one with small fractures at the bottom of both lenses. After a lengthy on and off fight with Wal-Mart, I decided to sue them in small claims court. They advised me that my problem is beyond the two year statute of limitations and I could do nothing. So in other words, stick it. I used to shop at Wal-Mart for everything, but now I will not. This $200 problem will now cost them thousands in lost sales from me. When I was there for my exam, the young man filing the paperwork noticed my infant and gave me a brochure for the InfantSEE program. He explained that it was a free eye assessment for 6-12 month olds. When I called today to set up an appointment, I was asked if my child was covered under insurance. Being an honest person, I answered yes. She said my child did not qualify for this program then. I explained to her that it was never explained to me about the insurance part nor does the brochure or the website mention having insurance would disqualify you.
I called the InfantSEE program to find out for sure. She said to call them back and tell them it is a volunteer program with no restrictions on insurance or income. So I called Wal-Mart vision center back and got a different lady who asked me if I had insurance. When I told what kind of appointment I needed to make, I quickly informed her I had just called the program directly and they could not discriminate for having insurance. I went ahead and made the appointment. I should have made it elsewhere; they will probably be rude when I get there. Luckily I was able to get truth. When I went to the Wal-Mart in my hometown and asked them for a frame for another pair of glasses that the bow snapped off of they told me that they could not do any thing for me. They were very rude and acted like I was interrupting their day and should just go away. I have done a lot of business with them in the past and that Wal-Mart in general. I have come to the conclusion that Wal-Mart does not care about the customer any more. And I will not go into Wal-Mart any more except to pick up my medications and only until I can get them transferred to somewhere else. I feel that you should have consistency throughout all your stores. If one has that serves all should have that same service no matter what. Then two weeks later, I had cracks in my lenses on both sides that shouldn't have done that. So I told them I want corporate number. I wish that I had found this site before going to Vision center. My wife and I went to Wal-Mart to see about ordering new glasses. This was our first time there. My wife wears bifocals, but I need two pairs, one for reading and one for distance. The eye exam went very well we were both pleased with the eye doctor. Our glasses came in on Wed 8/3. My wife was satisfied with her new glasses, but I had a problem with my distance glasses. I informed them that the site of vision was very small, and looking to the left or right was very blurry. I tried the glasses for one day but was unable to adjust to them.
I returned the glasses this morning and told them that I could not adjust to them; the person waiting on me showed me a pamphlet with 3 different lenses. One had a very small center of vision, the 2nd one was a little larger and the last one was almost the entire lenses was focused, she said they would have to charge me an additional $91. I said, why wasn't I given this choice in the first place? She didn't know! I feel that I should not have been charged for an upgrade for something that I could have had in the first place, now I have to wait for two weeks for the new glasses to come in, they were not cheap! The original lenses were over $300 not counting the frames and exam, now they've added $91 to it. That was my first and last visit to Vision Center.

Subject: Wal-Mart Vision Center (Store #3507) - Order Number 1017093.
I have recently visited Vision Care to have my eyes examine and to order new lenses for my eye glasses. Everything leading up to and including my eye examination with Marcus ** was professional. Everything thereafter was just sloppy, but not until I picked up my glasses Friday July 30, did I realized the scope of the sloppiness.
The associate broke my eye glass frames while trying to replace the old lenses with the new ones. My $275 frames were no longer usable. Both the store manager and the associate knew the importance of these glasses to me. I had purchased the frames in Germany. I was disappointed and shocked when the store manager came out to tell me that my glasses had been broken while trying to take out the right lens of my glasses. The store manager gave me damaged frames with an apology and refund for the lenses of $189.
In addition, the Office Manager stated that "this is why we don't like to put new lenses in frames that a customer brings in." However, first both the manager and associate assured me that Vision Care could put new lenses in my old frames. Had either one warned me of the possibility of damaging my glasses, then I would have not moved ahead in purchasing new lenses for my eye glass frame. I returned to the optometrist where I had purchased my original frames. I called Vision Care and requested faxing my prescription to this optometrist store which was done. When the optometrist examined my glasses, she discovered that my the lenses in the broken frames had been reversed.
That is, my right lens, the stronger one, was placed in the left eye glass frame and the right in the opposite one. I recalled mentioning to the associate after she took out the lenses for measuring that something was different about my glasses and continued to think so for nearly a week while awaiting my new lenses. She assured me that they were the same lenses. She didn't even check. The associate had mistakenly reverse them (left lens for the right eye; the right lens for the left eye). This is clearly demonstrating a lack of skill and carelessness on her part and partly explains why she broke my frames.
I'm angry about my broken frames, imported from Germany--but my sense is that this could have been prevented had the associate been a little more careful had she return the lenses to their correct side. Then my frame breakage would not have happened. I am now wearing a temporary pair of glasses (sun glasses, which restricts me from driving at night) until my replacements are ready. My new glasses will cost me nearly $200. Because of my inconvenience and this added cost, I expect Wal-Mart Vision Care to pay the complete cost of replacing my eye glass frame. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

My wife and I went for an eye exam (for her). She picked out some nice frames and got her lens ordered. It took about a week and she got them back with new lens per our appointment. My wife was complaining that they did not focus right and the line between regular and bi-focals was not the same on each lens. We took them back and the employee working there said that it would take about a week to get back. We went to pick up the adjusted glasses and my wife is still having issues.
I do not wear glasses and I can clearly see that the lenses look to have a different grind where the transition point is from regular to bi. One is just higher than the other. I guess we get what we paid for. We will never go back and waste our time purchasing anything other than food items from our Wal-Mart. Where has customer service gone and where are the professionals that work in these specialized areas getting their degrees? I guess online. We chose not to proceed with this company and took our business elsewhere.

This person should not be dealing with the public, especially young children. She had no patience and at one point even threw up her hands and said, since he wasn't cooperating (to her satisfaction!), that he'd have to repeat the tests with the doctor.
I told her that was fine, because she was not taking care of my son anymore. My son acted like a typical 5 year old. Since I was already at Wal-Mart, I decided to take advantage of this service. The doctor examined my eyes and after the 2 week turn around, the glasses came in. I wore them as as long as I could stand them. After 5 days, I was back into the store to find that the doctor was not available until I could make an appointment to see me.
The next week, I took a friend with me the second time, and had them go into the exam room with me. You could tell that the doctor was very defensive, while he re-examined my eyes to make sure that if the first exam and this exam stayed the same. My friend even could not believe how hateful he was when he would ask me questions and I would have to think about it before I could respond. I am a 48 year old female and do not need to be treated like a child when asked a question.
He matched up the eye glasses to what he had ordered. The suggestion was that we take out the no line bi-focal. And I would just have to wear them for my eyes to adapt. I've been trying for months and still not any better. I can see better with regular readers than these. But the glasses to this day still does not focus correctly. After talking with the eye glass service personnel, I find out that the eye exam doctor who works at the vision center is not employed with Wal-Mart. I went in on a Friday around noon. The clerk was helping one man who was with friends. My mother and I, she in her mid 60s and me disabled and walking with a cane entered the store.
I looked at different frames until the clerk finished. I turned around to see the first customer was gone and the clerk says "okay come, sit over here"; I sat down and the next customer did too. I looked at the clerk and said "were you talking to me or him?" She said, "Oh no I was talking to him. I don't know what you like and you are new".
I was like...okay. I thought oh well, this guy is picking up glasses or something and it should be short. While continuing to shop I could hear the clerk, "so how is the wife, the kids?" She knew this guy? I was tossed aside for a friend even though I had been waiting over 20 minutes! I was fuming mad at that point, but held my tongue.
I don't like to make a scene or get rude with people but wow...I have never, ever, had someone do that to me. The clerk began walking the 3rd customer around the room looking at frames (wait I thought she didn't help me because she didn't know what I wanted, never mind the fact that when she said that, I had a pair in my hand and was ready to talk).
A male employee came in and began gathering paperwork and has a clipboard. I was assuming he would help me or at least get me started with a patient info chart or something. While he was getting ready a family walked in. He went over to help them. It turned out he was the doctor and that was his next appointment.
I approached him to ask how long it would be and before I opened my mouth he cut in, "if you want to be seen today, it'll be later on this afternoon". He then abruptly turned around and started talking to the family and walked into the back room with one them. I was shocked! Like Hades I'm going to wait for this rude [doctor].
I thought he could have at least acknowledged me or told me the clerk would be with me shortly since he had a patient. I had no idea who this man was. I thought them to be true (as all the reviews I have been reading have said). They are very rude. I walked out. I called Vision Center and was helped quickly and professionally. The doctor was able to see me "anytime between now and 5pm, your choice".

To begin, I do want to compliment the eye doctor that leases space there. She was wonderful. She even wrote my prescription and just handed it to me so I had the option to fill it anywhere I wanted to. I should have known that this was an omen of the future. Now, on to the bad parts. First I’m rushed to pick a frame because the staff just seems like they have better things to do than help you pick, and this was on a day where there were three of them and I was the only customer. Since I have worn glasses for years I pretty much knew what I wanted so I picked a pair. Then I get the lady in training who is entering my prescription in the system but somehow I managed to get pretty good pair of glasses.
When my glasses arrived the girl just hands them to me in the case that doesn’t even fit them and says thanks. I guess they would just magically fit my face without adjustment. So I tell her, “Hold on. Let me check ‘em.” Of course, they need adjustment. She takes ‘em in the back and they come out slightly mangled. I say thanks and leave. So many hours later, after studying and watching videos on how to adjust glasses, I learned how to adjust my own glasses. Then I go back to Wal-Mart finding that I would like different nose pads and I ask them are your replacement pads bigger than the stock pads on my glasses. They say, no, they are the same without even looking at them. So I buy the pads from them and put them on myself.
In conclusion, the glasses ordered were fine as well as the eye doctor, but I don’t understand the general laziness of the staff. They have one of the best jobs at a Wal-Mart. But I did take one thing out of it though. I learned to adjust my own and friend’s glasses and discovered you can order glasses yourself direct from China and save hundreds. If the incompetent staff at Wal-Mart can order your glasses, then it must be really easy.

A little over a week ago, I received a call from the Vision Center at the Walmart in the Cerritos, CA Town Center. I was told that my prescription would be running out as of June 21, 2010, but I ordered a year supply and not have to have another exam if I did it before the prescription ran out on June 21. I asked her how much they cost. She told me a figure based on soft lenses. I told her I wore gas permeable hard lenses and that I had mono vision. She said, "oh yes, I see that". She said the cost would be $68.00, but I would be given a credit and they would cost $54.00. Plus she said that I would be given a coupon for $50.00 to be used on a pair of glasses for myself or anyone else in my family.
I agreed and went into the store. The manager helped me, he was confused and said he wasn't used to working with contacts. He called a girl in to help him. I then paid the $54.00 cash and was told I would get a call when they come in. I asked for the coupon before I left once again. He was very nervous and didn't know what to do and had the same girl help him. I then asked how much the eye exam for glasses would be and was told $58.00. I asked if I had a prescription from somewhere else if I could use that instead of having them do the exam and I was told that would be fine. I was given the coupon for $50.00 off and I left.
On Friday, June 18, I got a call from the Walmart Vision Center and was told my contact lenses were in. I took my grandson to Costco for the eye exam because they charge $49.00. Then my grandson and I went to the Walmart Vision Center. The same manager helped me again. My grandson picked out the frames he wanted and then the manager told me that the computer wouldn't honor the coupon if he put it in because I had only bought one lens. I was shocked. I told him that without lenses, I am legally blind. Why would I only buy one? Plus, I have mono vision and one wouldn't do me any good. He said I should have read the fine print. I told him that I can't see the fine print. He then called the girl out who helped him last week and had her read to me what I had been told that I was getting.
She read that with the purchase of a year supply of contact lenses, I would get a discount plus a $50.00 coupon for eye glasses. The manager said that is not what she meant. I said read it again and she wouldn't, she would only use her own words and said that it didn't mean what she read. I then said okay, I want my money back. He said "fine, I will get it for you". Then another girl who was with him said the policy is that if it is over $35.00, a check will be mailed to you from corporate. I then said okay, I will keep the contacts. Then the manager said "too late, I have already canceled your order" which was not true. He hadn't done anything. Then I asked to speak to the manager above him and he said there wasn't anyone above him. I asked him for one of his cards and he said "go buy one". I asked from where and he said "I don't have cards".
I then asked him what his name was and he said William. I asked for his last name and he refused to give it to me and told me that if I didn't get out of the building, he would have me physically removed. I never yelled. I did call his girl a ding dong because she didn't know what she was doing. Plus me not being able to read fine print was my problem. I should have found someone in the store to read it to me, that they didn't have to stand behind what was spoken to me. I am 67 years old, legally blind without lenses since birth. I have to have reading glasses plus prescription glasses in order to read 12 point print. They scammed me. They were simply going to increase all the costs so I would have to pay another $68.00 for the other lens plus not honor the coupon. William kept saying read this and I kept telling him I can't read that print. He and his girl both said that wasn't their problem.
I have high blood pressure and felt that I was going to pass out. Do I have any recourse? I had vision coverage last year and I didn't pay attention to the total bill, just what I had to pay and that included an eye exam for the contact lenses. If I had allowed William the manager and his girl bully me into spending more money to get the other contact that I had been told a week earlier that I was getting, I wouldn't have been able to pay my utilities. I simply wouldn't have subjected myself to their scam bait and switch routine. Too bad I can't disguise the fact that I am a senior citizen. Maybe most seniors have a lot of money to spend. I don't, I have to watch every penny. I am on a very limited income.

On that afternoon, one of the two girls who sit in the doctor's office really gave me a horrible time, instead of just printing the old prescription and handing it to me. Here are the so many irrelevant questions that she asked me/ her conversation with me (not including my answers): "This is an expired prescription. (again) this is an expired prescription, why do you want to have it? Your last appointment was in Jan. 1999. You are past due for rechecking. This prescription is not for contact lenses. Do you want a print one or a hand writing one? I am going to write the prescription for you, it is the same as printing."
Then when I asked her to please just print the prescription, she actually did but put a very large writing with a thick black marker and in capital letters, "Expired Prescription" and she wrote this sentence twice.Iit was so big that anyone cannot see the numbers nor the writing that the doctor wrote. And when I asked her, "Why are you doing this?" she said, "because it is expired prescription!"
This had never happened to me before! I think this is a totally bizarre situation. I would like your response, please. It's harassment. I am a foreigner who speaks with an accent. I am also a doctor and can afford an attorney but I will wait your corresponding. Thanks!

On April 25, 2010, I fell and broke my glasses (frames), purchased there so I went to get new frames. I paid $94 for the new frames on April 26, 2010. No problem, because I had fallen down and damaged the other ones. However, on June 2nd, I picked my glasses up from the nightstand to put them on and one earpiece fell off. I went back to Walmart and was told at that time that because I just bought new frames, not new glasses, that there was no warranty. Had I been told that, I would have taken a different route. I cannot and will not pay that amount every month, so for now I'm just wearing them with one earpiece.

On 01/12/10, I went to Walmart to get an eye exam at the time I decided to get a contact eye exam. I was given free trial pair of contacts. A few days later, I went back and one contact had to be changed out because my vision didn't seem right. I was told by the eye doctor that it might take a few months to get use to them. In the middle of January, I got an eye infection not due to the contacts. I couldn't wear contacts for two weeks due to the infection. The beginning of February, I went in to order my contacts and was strongly suggested to purchase a year supply because of the savings so I did. At the end of February, I went in because I didn't feel the prescription was right and spoke to the manager and was told that it takes several months to get use to them.
In the middle of March, I went back and was told to give it a few more weeks and if I was still having problems that they would give me another exam. On May 22, I went back again and explained my problem and was told that they would give me a refund on 1 box of contacts. I was never offered a new eye exam. When I ordered my contacts, I ordered two boxes, six months in each box. On the second box, I still had two months left. I wasn't able to get a refund on the second box because the second box had been opened but the two months worth that I had left had not been opened. I also asked about a refund on the eye exam and was told that the eye exam was not refundable. Anyhow the same day, I went a few doors down to Nationwide Vision to get another eye exam to see if there was a difference in the prescription and there was. I feel that I wasted my money and would like to be refunded for the eye exam and the two months of contacts that I can't use.

I was going to the vision center and my eyes have been really red, my glasses were damaged so I went and ordered new ones two weeks after, I got the glasses. I noticed that everything was blurry when I wore them, 3 days later, I got up, went to work and by the time I got home my contacts, were blurry. So, I made an appointment to have my vision rechecked and they said it had gone from a -1.75 to a -2.75 in the span of a month, so Dr. ** told me to go and have my blood sugar checked and if that came back okay, he would just give me a new prescription.
Well, my blood sugar was normal, but at the urging of my family, I went to another eye doctor to have a second opinion this morning and I now have severe infections in the corneas of both eyes and I can't wear contacts for 2 weeks. I had to get a prescription for eye drops and then, I have to go back to see him in two weeks.
So thanks to Dr. **, I had to pay $95 for the doctor's visit, $269 for the visit to Reimers, $28.99 for the prescription and I still have to pay for the follow up appointment with Dr. **. If I would have listened to Dr. **, I would still not know about the infections, it would have gotten worse and so would my vision. If I would have left it up to him, I could have ended up blind! I also want to say that I've had at least 4-6 appointments with Dr. ** in the last two months, each time he did the same tests that Dr. ** did today and he did not say anything about the infection. I had to pay $95 for a doctor's visit, $269 for a second opinion at another eye doctor, $28.99 for a prescription, and I still have to pay for a follow up visit in two weeks. I want to be reimbursed for everything, including my recheck that will happen on June 4, 2010.

I have seen Rebecca ** at our local Wal-Mart for several years and have been very pleased with her professionalism and the care I have received. I am very unhappy with the vision center. At my last exam, I received a prescription for mono vision contacts, which I have worn for some time. I kept noticing that I could not see very well and thought I had gotten something on my contact. I would not wear them for a while and would just wear an old pair of glasses, and then I would try again. This went on for quite a while, and finally, I went back to Dr. Rebecca's office. She gave me a sample contact to put in, and I could see just fine. She told me to take my contacts back to the vision center and ask them to order new boxes for me.
I went in twice, but both times, I was told that I had to come back when the manager was in. Finally, one day, I was able to catch her; and I was very sorry that I did. She began to grill me suspiciously about how long ago I had ordered them; I showed her my receipt, and then she began telling me that I was not wearing them properly if I still had one full box left and that she was not obligated in any way to replace them. She also said she had never seen a full box of contacts that were bad and that I should have come in before now, if I wanted anything done, etc, etc. All this in front of her entire staff.
One of the ladies, who happened to be in the store from Dr. Rebecca's office, stuck up for me and told her what Dr. Rebecca had said, but that did not appear to be enough. Tiffany finally, after totally humiliating me in front of the staff at the vision center, begrudgingly told me that she would order me 6 sample contacts to replace the 6 I was returning. Whoo hoo! What a sacrifice.
I left, never so embarrassed or humiliated in my entire life. When one of the girls called 2 weeks later to let me know that the contacts were in, I asked to speak to Tiffany and told her that I would not be in to pick them up. It is not worth $43.00 of contacts to me to suffer that humiliation. She replied by telling me that she did not treat me rudely, but if I wanted to do that, it was just fine.

Well, the technician that did the entire test on my eyes before I got to see the doctor made a comment that he could tell by looking at my eyes that I had been sleeping in my contacts. First off, I hadn’t worn contacts in over 6 months. Then he was making conversation. Asking what I did for a living. Upon finding out that I worked for a dentist, he kept making comments about his teeth problems and that I should hook him up for a discount! The doctor came in and tried to tell me I needed more testing done on my eyes that I have swelling behind them. When I had the testing, they found nothing! Then this technician AD gets my phone number off my paper work and starts calling me on my cell wanting to be hooked up! Never again will I go to this place. It was a horrible experience.

On 2/5/2007 I ordered a pair of glasses at a Walmart in Clermont, FL. The cost was $572 and I do not feel that I got near what I paid for. I was examined in Johnson City, NY and the reason I got them filled in Walmart was that we travel a lot and we are always near Walmart if I need any adjustment or repairs. While in Arizona in the second year (out of warranty), I had one bow partially break. I went to a Walmart in Phoenix and was told that they didn't repair them, that I would have to buy the whole frame. They had the exact same frames on display at their optical store. I went to the store manager to complain and was told that they were separate from Walmart and she had no authority over them. I told her that they had Walmart over the door and it was in a Walmart store so they were responsible but that got me nowhere.
When I got back to FL, I went to the store where I purchased the glasses and was told the same thing, that I would have to buy a complete new frame. I complained and was told by the salesman that he would take care of me. When the new frames came in, I only had to pay $108.31 instead of the original $118.00. The frames now need straightening and adjusting so I went into the local Walmart in Vestal, NY. I was asked if I bought my glasses there and I told her that I bought them in a Florida Walmart. The girl told me that she would be very careful working on them but if something broke, they were not responsible for them. I talked to the store manager and was told that the optical was a separate store not under Walmart. Let this be a warning to anyone thinking of getting glasses at Walmart, They take your money and are responsible for nothing!

When my glass order came out from the back, there was a single pair of glasses, the ones for reading. When I asked about the second pair, they said, "What second pair? You only ordered the one pair."
The clerk acknowledged that yes, they did have the insurance authorization number written down (I paid for the readers myself), "oh, and the style and number of the frame was written on the form, but, for some reason the glasses had not been ordered." They would be happy to 'reorder' them after I paid the deductible again. Well, my husband is in the military. I am the only parent at home with two children so I needed to be able to drive, which I could not do safely with my current glasses anymore. The lady said my script did change and setup to get a new pair of glasses with the new script. The original date for pickup was set for April 27th 2010 but because I needed to be able to drive safely, she would put a rush on them so I can be safe on the road since my license says I must wear glasses.
Well, tomorrow is the 27th and I have been bugging them almost daily regarding the rush that is supposed to have been put on my glasses. They said that they are put on a rush status but what is the point of the "rush" status if I still get them on the original pickup date? I've been sitting at my house for 16 days now because I don't want to damage my car or hurt someone else and I live out in the country where I basically have no neighbors. I paid $337 upfront and nothing has happened! I'm wondering if they're even going to be there on the original due date if they can't even handle a "rushed" order! Dr. P wanted to experiment with several different trial lenses and then charged me extra for taking more than 30 days to complete my follow-up. She wanted me to switch brands of contact lenses in order to correct for my astigmatism, even though my vision is fine with regular corrective lenses. The first trial pair she gave me was very uncomfortable, nowhere near the correct prescription and I asked to go back to my original brand. She wanted me to try two more brands and told me she would have to order another trial pair. (They did not have the correct one in stock.)
It took a couple weeks for the second trial pair to even arrive and by this time our car had broken down. I managed to pick up the second pair, which were even more uncomfortable than the first, and again an incorrect prescription. I have four children under five years old and only one vehicle. I explained to her that it was very difficult for me to keep coming back and since my eyesight really isn't that bad, I really wanted to go back to my original contacts. She said, "You don't want to see clearly?" in a very condescending manner. She then went on to say that the Secretary of State would restrict my driving to daytime only, which is ridiculous, considering my vision is still 20/30 even without lenses. I told her we were in a difficult position right now, with our vehicle broken down and four little ones to manage.
I again asked for my original brand and offered to try again at a later time to be her guinea pig with the trial lenses. Through these appointments, follow-ups and phone calls, no one ever pointed out that in one of the papers they originally have you sign, if your follow-ups are not completed within 30 days, you get charged an extra $25. I understand that legally I signed the form and am responsible. I was simply asking for a little compassion and understanding, since the only reason it took so long was that she kept trying trial pairs (and there were two more brands she wanted to try!), one of which took two weeks to arrive. There was no physical way I could have completed all the trial pairs for two weeks each and gotten in within 30 days. Factoring in having to find a sitter and wait until my husband who works 12 hours a day gets home from work. I expected them to cut me slack on the follow-up fee.
The receptionist was very rude and curt with me as if I was taking the $25 out of her pocket. When I asked to talk to the doctor to plead my case personally, she refused to come out and talk to me. They just kept pointing out that I had filled out the form and was liable. I explained I knew I was legally liable, but I was asking for a waiver because the doctor was the one pushing all these trial pairs, and in fact, one pair alone had taken over two weeks to arrive. I did not even want them and definitely would not have to come back had I known she was going to charge me extra.
I really feel like she took advantage of me and used the situation to squeeze an extra $25 out of me. I was in tears, asking for a little compassion and for the doctor to make an exception, since I did not believe I was entirely to blame for the follow-ups taking over 30 days. I will accept partial responsibility, having signed the form, but I think the doctor should have had the decency to waive the fee considering the special situation, or at least to come out and talk to me in person. When I asked why it was never clarified that I was going to get charged more, they just kept saying, "You signed the form." When I pointed out that there was no way I could have completed everything within 30 days (and in fact still had not even tried all the trials she was pushing on me), they said that was my problem, not theirs. Her exact words were, "It's not our responsibility to tell you what was in a form you signed."
There was no sympathy, no courtesy and again the doctor refused to even talk to me. She just sent the lady back out saying, "That's the policy. You signed the form." Cold, heartless, not to mention incompetent, since the prescription I did get was wrong anyway. I would highly recommend no one goes to Dr. Rita P! We are in a tough time financially and my husband's job dropped all optical insurance. We went there to save money and ended up paying more. And again, the doctor didn't even get my prescription right after all of that. On top of the inconvenience of having to make special trips to pick up the trial lenses that I did not want, I also was assessed a $25 fee for not completing my follow-up appointments within 30 days, although I pointed out that it was not even possible for me to have done so. I think the doctor should have had the decency to explain to me from the beginning that she intended to charge me extra by having me try on many trial lenses and have follow-ups with each one.

Poor service. We went to the Groton, CT location and the person who assisted us on Saturday, April 3rd was pushy at first and then left to help others after the station lines were up indicating they were closed. I was very unimpressed although my husband and I did order glasses. Worse than this, they called three times, once for my glasses and then once for one of my husband's glasses. We drove the 40-minute distance to find that the third pair was not ready yet. The young man there stated that they should have read the note stating "Call when all glasses were ready."
The next day, the third message was left indicating the one pair of glasses was ready. We drove down once again to find the place dark and closed, a half an hour before the stated closing time. We asked one of the Walmart cashiers who told us that the Vision Center is operated separately and we asked to speak with a manager. The manager indicated that he had no keys and would not be able to help us. He asked an assistant manager to take our names and numbers (not realizing that we were together).
We were very aggravated by the situation and I mentioned to these managers that the Vision Center should send the glasses to us at their expense and the young man from the night before appeared from the back. He must have overheard me. He said that he is employed for 52 hours and can "get off a few minutes early" to avoid overtime. 30 minutes is not "a few " and this is poor practice for a business. We will look elsewhere in the future.

I'm disabled and they told me to take in my own paperwork to ODSP which I did have checked since several times then last week on my third trip to the ODSP office. They informed me they sent the approval to Vision Center 3 weeks ago. I hadn't heard a word from Vision Center that they had it.
Any other time in the years past, they have contacted me and was much better service over past 10 years! To the point I call them today and tell them ODSP, said they sent the approval March 13th. It's now April 8th! She checks and yes they have it and I can come in and pick frames. I ask how come they never contacted me when they had the okay for 3 weeks? She says that's your responsibility sweetie not ours! and I replied that she was being very rude and she goes, "Have a nice day in a sarcastic tone," and hangs up on me! I called the Head office of Walmart and they took the complaint and will get back to me. I've been getting very bad headaches due to the need of my new glasses, not needed stress and disappointment with Walmart entirely. Will take my business elsewhere like Zellers.

This is the most horrible, unfriendly place I have ever visited. I cannot believe anyone would give Mrs T or her customer service more than a half star. When I first arrived for my appointment, I was never greeted but I stood in line for at least ten minutes. While giving the one person in front of me the courtesy of privacy by standing back from them, another customer was assisted without acknowledging me my presence of being next in line.
Then after sixteen or more minutes, I was brought back to the Mrs T where she rushed my eye exam through, as if she had better things to do with her time. I was then rushed to the cashier, only to be told that someone could help me pick out my frame but would have to cease assisting me when another customer come from the back from seeing Mrs. T. Mind you, this was courtesy I failed to receive when I initially arrived.
After picking my frames quickly, I was told one pair would be in on March 27 and the other on March 30. I paid the $336.00 on the pretense that these people had given me the correct information. On March 27 I called and was spoken to in a harsh, disrespecting manner and was told that both pair would be in on March 30. But at 5 :06pm on March 27, Mrs T or her staff called me to say the glasses were in but it was too late to pick them up.
I find this type of business disgusting and there is absolutely no way I will take my daughter who also needs an eye exam and glasses to this office. I would advise all to go to somewhere else and not give Mrs T your business. I took my 13 year old son to get a contact exam at Wal-Mart Happy Valley. We were called in for the appointment, and Dr. Charles ** was very nice, and did a quick exam. Following my son's exam, they wanted him to take out the contacts (that had previously been put into his eyes), and then reinsert them into his eyes. It took several tries to get the contacts out. The guy they sent in to help my son, didn't really do anything. In fact he said about 10 words to us. I finally stepped in, and explained to my son how I put my contacts in, and take them out, so he would know where to start.
The employee crossed his arms, and leaned against the wall, and just watched, all the while, never really telling my son what to do. At one point, he showed him how he took his contacts out, but that was the extent of the interaction. After about an hour, and total frustration, Suzanne came into the room, and attempted to try and tell my son what to do, but he was already so frustrated, and his eyes were irritated, that nothing was helping. She finally told us to step out of the vision center for a few minutes, to give his eyes a break. We walked around the store and returned about 15 minutes later.
Upon our return, Suzanne said to me, "I want you to wait outside, kids do much better when their parents aren't in there with them". So I waited out in the waiting area. An hour later, Suzanne stepped out of the room. I looked at her and she said "he is still in there trying, but sometimes you have to leave them alone and they get it". About 10 minutes later my son walked out into the vision center and said, "I can't do it mom". Suzanne said it isn't a problem, it happens sometimes, and they just have to come back for another visit.
At that time, she took me to the register and rang me up for a cost of $89.00. I asked for my receipt, and my son's prescription. She gave me the receipt, but told me I could not have the prescription, because my son had not put the contacts back in his eyes after taking them out. I asked why that mattered, and she said "it makes him a liability". I asked in what way, to which she did not give me any answer, and said "I am not giving you this prescription. I said I paid for a service, which is the eye exam. The eye exam produces a prescription, and I have paid for that, I would like to have my son's eye exam prescription.
Again, she was very rude and unprofessional, and said "I am not going to give you the prescription". I continued to insist, and she continued to get louder, and tell me that it is a policy that they do not give out prescriptions, unless the person has the contacts in, takes them out, and puts them back in (although she couldn't show us where it states that it is a policy). At that time, I had enough of the arguing, I asked her to honor the satisfaction guarantee, and refund my money, to which she replied "I am not giving you a refund for the exam. "At that time, I took my receipt and left.
I drove home and explained to my husband what had happened, so he offered to go back down with me and talk to Suzanne about it. We walked in, and he asked her what her position was on the situation, and she said exactly the same things to him that she had said to me. He said "Suzanne, I need to see that policy of not providing a customer with their prescription, in writing please". She stated, "it isn't in writing". He said, "then, we would like to have our son's prescription that we paid for". She said, "no, I will not give it to you".
My husband asked me to go get the store manager, and I did. Once the manager came over, Suzanne quickly changed her tone, and immediately offered my husband a refund of our money. There was no offer of apology, no explanation to the doctor or staff of what she had done to a brand new client. It was a very disappointing experience. Okay, the order was sent to a lab in Texas and now it's "stuck" there. Laura has been exceptional in attempting to get my glasses but no luck. She offered a refund but now it's the principle and I plan to let WM know just how they dropped the ball.

I am disabled & was on Medicaid. I went to Wal-mart because of "Satisfaction Guaranteed". I had a eye exam & measured for bifocals! Weeks later they came in & I went in to be fitted. When they were done, I mentioned how uncomfortable they were to see out of. They told me I would have to get used to them! I tried for quite a while before returning to them to question why I was still having problems. When I put them on they immediately stated, "they were made wrong". Someone measured wrong and had the bi-focal way up in my normal vision! They assured me they would reorder!
One week later, I went back to check on them. The doctor's office was gone! I was told they had leased the space inside of Wal-mart & they had a falling out and left! The girl that worked in Vision Center, Melanie was very helpful. She tried to re-bill Medicaid again to get me new lenses made right. Of course, Medicaid refused & I was told nothing could be done! I have called Medicaid, Dr. Riding office in Texarkana, Tx 6 times.
No one wants to stand up for their mistake! I realize Wal-mart just rented space yet their name brought me to that store! Medicaid is still trying to figure out how to help! Maybe Walmart should screen who they lease to a little better! Still, I am without correct glasses and dealing with the constant eye strain and headaches it causes! I started this adventure in October & I'm still waiting to see correctly! Thank you for your time! I now try hard not to shop at Walmart! We all must be cccountable for what we do!

I have been a customer of the Wal-Mart vision center going on now for 8 years. But now that they are not willing to work with me on my needs, I am taking my business elsewhere. I have come to the conclusion that all they care about is making sure they make that buck! I have ordered 3 frames in the last 2 years because they do not last long even though they have guarantees attached.
Now once again for the 4th time sides of my frames have broken. I call to report this and go down there to get it taken care of, but to my surprise all they wanted to do is shove an eye exam down my throat, telling me there was nothing they could do for me. They didn't even bother to try and order them. I repeatedly told the lady that I didn't have $400 lying around to get another exam and glasses if I did I would get one done. All I wanted and needed is the frames. Now, how hard is that? Apparently too hard because they did nothing to resolve or help me with my issues.
Now I am getting headaches and I am constantly adjusting my glasses so that my eyes will stop feeling so funny. I have looked up website after website and have no success into finding my frames. I finally called the Union City Vision center and they informed me that White Stag frames have been discontinued. My frames aren't even 4 months old and now they can't be replaced. What is the use of getting glasses if you’re going to discontinue the frames after 6 months?
The employee told me that is what they do even with the big name brands that way it tries to force people to get their eyes examined once again. What a load of **. I wish I could get some help with this because as of right now beyond this there is nothing else I can do. Only thing that is holding my frames together now is tape. Thanks for everything Wal-Mart! Needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere!

First, I took my prescription in to get new glasses. I was looking at the frames & with the help of an employee, picked out a pair I liked. She didn't ask me any questions, what I was looking at most of the day, computer, etc., only took the one measurement. They didn't look to see that they were too big for my face, stuck out too far away from my face, etc. When I received the glasses, I put them on. It’s terrible. I couldn't stand to even look up. They did nothing, said just try them for a week. So I did, I took them to the ophthalmologist. She said they didn't fit at all, and I need to take them back.
So I returned them, asked to speak to the manager and she said, "oh yes, they should never have given you these frames for progressive lens, and they don't fit.” So they did them over. Now the ones I have do fit, but I cannot get used to the lenses, way too much distortion and hard to read print on computer. This may just be the brand, but they clearly do not know what they are doing. I will never go back there. I hope I will be able to get a refund this time.

I don't understand how you can go get glasses and complain they don't fit! Try them on first and get them fitted! I have been wearing glasses for years and I know that if they don't feel right, to say something! If you schedule an appointment for an exam and don't specify you also want contacts then yes, it is a pain in the doctor’s butt because those appointments take longer! Use your brains, people, and Walmart is not the only place to get exams and most optometrists price match!

I went there to get an eye exam. It was clear that the doctor did not want to sell me contacts. He did everything in his power to try and talk me out of them before he even did an eye exam. I told him I wanted both contacts and glasses. Reluctantly he did the exam. (I felt more like I was a bother to him). He gave me a trial pair that fit good so I went and picked out glasses. Also the staff member did not measure my face to see if they fit or offer to help find a pair that would fit better, but instead told me that after they are made, they can be fitted to my face. I went back 2weeks later. The eye doctor gave me another pair of contacts with this pair. I can only see clearly out of 1 eye, my right eye. The left eye is all blurry.
He then wanted to give me a prescription for contacts that were for 2 weeks when from moment number 1, I told him that I wanted daily wear disposables. He made me sit in a chair and wait for him before he wrote the prescription after 10mins and him seeing other patients. I got mad and a staff member went back and got the prescription from him. I believe this prescription is not correct because the first pair of contacts he gave me were multi-focal ones and these, since I can't see out of 1 eye, I don't believe that they are so I can't trust this prescription.
As for my glasses, the girl said she made them as fit to my face as she could which is not fit at all. They are way to loose on my face. As she said "the glasses are too big for your face," I should never have been sold them. I am completely unhappy and want either the correct prescription for daily disposable contacts and a new pair of eyeglasses (I will give these back) or I want my money back.I will never go to Walmart Vision Center again. My eyes are not something for someone to play with.

I called on February 7th hoping the glasses would be in but I was told that they take two to three weeks and now with the weather, it may be longer. That was lie #1.
I've called on February 8th, the due date, February 9th, and twice today, February 10th. The first on February 10th call ended abruptly when the employee stated, "please call back in 30 minutes I am with a customer." The second call ended when the clerk stated, "we'll call you when the glasses arrive." I have also been told to come into the store and they will issue a refund and cancel the order.

The optometrist told my husband that his vision had improved (he is 58 years old). When we received our glasses about a week later, I was unable to see clearly out of the left lens alone (together, my vision was okay because my other eye would compensate).
A different associate remeasured me, checked the glasses and told me that the progressive bifocal wasn't in the right place so they re-ordered the new lens for me. A week later, I returned for the new lens which was even worse. A different associate measured me again and ordered a new lens. A week later, I went back.
Lens number three was still not right so they had me see the optometrist again, who said that the lens was too strong--so now, we're at lens number four which still wasn't right. The manager offered me a gift coupon for the inconvenience because it was obvious for whatever reason, in my opinion, that they weren't going to get it right. I'm sure they were tired of dealing with someone who felt that you should be able to see clearly out of each lens, independent to the other eye.

I found, however, I did not enjoy watching TV, knitting or reading as I had, blaming it on my total knee surgery in January. I went in for my yearly eye exam at the Wal-Mart Vision Center. During the exam, the optometrist found the corneas in both eyes inflamed; couldn't get an accurate reading and wanted me not to wear my contacts for a week, in which I was to return for a recheck. Because I had an old pair of glasses with an old prescription and couldn't wear them for driving, I was given a fresh pair of contacts at a different strength than I had previously. I asked why not just give me my old prescription/old brand (because I could see with those), but I know nothing and now I could see nothing. I ended up using my old contacts until the different brand (trial) pair arrived. He thought that perhaps my eyes needed more oxygen and this explained the inflammation. I mentioned that I had been using more buffing compounds at work and asked if this could be the reason for the inflammation. He didn't think so. Week later, the optometrists still couldn't get an accurate prescription but the inflammation had lessened (during this time I had been wearing goggles at work instead of safety glasses). So again I was to return in a week, but this time I would be charged $20.00.
I received the trial pair of contacts and wore them until the next appointment. Week later, I returned and this time I was able to get a prescription for both contacts and glasses; but now he wants to give me my old contact lens brand, instead of the new brand that he insisted on, because my eyes needed more oxygen? I questioned him and apparently he believes me about the buffing compound!? I got my contacts ordered and with prescription in hand, I went to purchase the frames that I liked at my husband’s optometrists at Optical Fashions. I picked up my glasses only to be disappointed because I couldn't see. I could actually see better with my old pair of glasses than the new ones, plus the bifocal wasn't right. My husband suggested that I take both old and new glasses and have O.F. compare them… It was at this point, I decided that I was done with Wal-Mart Vision Center. I paid for an eye exam at Optical Fashions; had to have the lenses remade; and because I had opened the box of contact lenses, I knew Wal-Mart wouldn't take them back (because I had asked one other time when my prescription had changed).
The optometrist at O.F. said that I could wear the contacts; I just wouldn't have as good a distance vision. I have been able to see perfectly with the new prescription glasses and there is actually a difference between the upper portion of the lens and the bifocal. As for contacting Wal-Mart V.C. concerning the above (yeah right, my husband had problems with them) and after getting the runaround and excuses for weeks, I was told that his warranty period had expired. There was plenty of time left when he first complained. Optical Fashions was decent enough to replace my lenses by using the one replacement available for purchasing my glasses from them originally; but if anything happens to the lenses during the warranty period, it comes out of my pocket, not to mention that I am out $76.00 for an eye exam, and I am stuck with $99+ worth of incorrect prescription contact lenses plus the $170+ for lenses if something happens to the ones I now own.

Mr. **, we need to get this situation resolved with the glasses that we purchased at the Vision Center. This has been going on for a year now. We are very tired of it and the way we were recently treated by the Vision Center in Chillicothe, OH. It is not our fault that Walmart hires no good places to make lenses for their glasses.
On 09/2008, we purchased 2 pair of glasses from the Vision Center in Jackson, OH and they cost us over $1,500.00 that is a lot of money. Shortly after we got the glasses, my husband noticed spots on his lenses - they look like they had glitters. We took them back to the Walmart in Jackson, OH and showed them the glasses. We were given all kinds of trouble from we sprayed something on them, etc.
After about a week, they finally agreed that the lenses had a defect in them from the factory. So, they reordered them, but when those lenses came in, they were the same way right from the start. They had to order them again. They finally got a pair that lasted for a few months. Since 09/2008, my husband's lenses were replaced at least six times. We moved to Chillicothe, OH and they have replaced the lenses.
On 10/23/09, we noticed that his lenses were doing the same thing again with the spots. We looked at my glasses and they have the same spots. We went to the Vision Center in Chillicothe, OH on 10/25/09 and the lady that was working there was less than helpful and very rude. She told us we would have to come back and talk to the manager on Monday but she wasn't doing anything with the lenses.
From past history, these glasses are defective where they were made, but she told us she was not going to help us and to leave. My husband went to the Vision Center on 10/26/09 at 5:00 pm to talk to the manager. Of course, she wasn't there. He talked to **. She was very rude and told him to leave the Vision Center and not come back. The regional manager said they were not replacing the lenses again - that it was our fault the lenses were bad and if we wanted new lenses, we could pay for them.
I asked for the regional manager but she refused to give me the name so I could talk to him/her myself. ** at Chillicothe, Ohio Vision Center told us not to come back again. They were not going to replace the lenses and if we came back, she would call security. These are defective lenses and they need to be replaced. If you don't want to replace them, refund us our full amount. We will go somewhere else and get a good pair of glasses. We shouldn't have to look at spots and shouldn't be talked to like that. ** also told me that I could contact corporate if I wanted but they were not going to do anything about it either because she could do what they wanted.

I just picked up my glasses from Walmart Vision Center. They are going back tomorrow. Where to begin? First off, I have a very strong prescription and always in the past have been told to get a smaller frame and to get the higher quality lenses. I did. Top of the line. My prescription barely changed in one eye, but my lenses are thicker than my old glasses by 1/5 of an inch. Yes, folks, an inch! The edges are unfinished, so they have that frosted look to them. I asked if they could send them back and have them corrected. They said they had never heard of such a thing. I showed them the glasses that I had on (which are what I want) and the guy still made the comment, "Well, you do have a strong lens." Yeah? Well, the prescription hasn't changed that much that I now need coke bottle lenses.
Also, I got the transition lenses. It's a bright clear sunny day today, and these glasses didn't get nearly dark enough to feel comfortable in the sun. I still had to squint and had a headache by the time I got home. Also, what is it with Walmart pushing the contacts? I don't want contacts. I have terrible allergies and don't want them. When you tell them that, they act like you must be some kind of freak of nature.
I would just like to mention that I bought my son a pair of glasses last year and the frames that they helped pick out, have flowers on the ear piece. My eight-year old is livid, but since he didn't tell me about it until after the 60 days, I guess he's stuck with them. Well, we will see how it goes and if I get my refund when I take mine back tomorrow.

I made an appointment with Dr. Elven, the 3rd to check my vision and ordered contacts for me on September 12, 2009. He gave me an eyeglass prescription and proceeded to fit me with a pair of suitable contact lens. He brought out a pair of contacts for me to place into my eyes and told me to go home and try them out for a few days. The contacts were apparently the wrong strength, and I could not read even large writing. Plus, I could not read the large highway signs while driving! I returned to Wal-Mart where his practice is located, behind the Vision Center. I was tried on another pair of contacts and sent home.
I ended up making 10 trips to the Vision Center optometrist, Dr. Elven, driving 360 miles, before I got a pair on contacts that I could see and read with them in place! Finally, I had the contacts that I needed and called Dr. Elven's office at Wal-Mart's. I informed the lady working in his office. I asked them to order the last pair that he had fitted me with. The lady behind the desk in his office informed me that the doctor was standing next to her at the time we were speaking and that she was giving him my chart, as we spoke. I was told from the very first pair of contacts tried on my eyes, they would call me when the contacts came in. The last week in October 2009, I called again (one of many calls to these people) to find out if my contacts had come in yet. I was told no, so I informed them that I needed another trial pair, because my eyes were exuding pus; and I had cleaned the ones I had as much as possible many times.
When I made another trip to Wal-Mart of Rockingham, NC, the lady behind the desk, Tammy, had another pair of contacts waiting on me. But they had been taken out of the original package and placed in a plastic contacts holder. This was the second time that this incident had happened, so I questioned her about handling the contacts and inquired as to why she opened them in the first place. She said she had to keep the foil they came out of and place it on her paperwork! I never once saw the name or strength of any contacts. I asked her not to open another package that would be used by me for my eyes. She gave me the wrong ones! I called back and told them that the lenses were incorrect and not the same as the last ones he had given me and to please have another pair waiting. I made another 36-mile round trip. Finally, I insisted that something was dreadfully wrong with everything and insisted on knowing when my contacts would arrive. I was then told that "I" had to order them!
Now, I was told 30 days earlier that they would call me when the contacts came in, even though I had to try several pairs before I finally got a pair I could see out of! I made another trip to see them and demand a prescription for the contacts I had requested/ordered much earlier in the month. The optometrist left a script with her for me, but aside from the strength and other basic information needed to order, he wrote the lens name down as Cooper EP by Cooper Vision. I cannot locate that lens with no more information than that! I have tried several lens dealers on the internet to no avail! In the meantime, I have suffered just straining to read and have had several migraine headaches as a result of this escapade. And I still have no contacts! I will never get my eyes examined by this man, regardless of where he is working, again.

I stated that since it was part of my prescription, it was my health information that I was entitled to. The clerk stated that if she gave me that information, she could lose her job, saying that if I were to purchase glasses from another vendor and get in an accident, Wal-Mart would be held liable.
I've never heard so much baloney in all my life. I ordered the glasses then shopped in the store, all the while thinking about my conversation with the eyeglass clerk. Finally, I returned to the Vision Center and canceled my order. I later found the glasses I liked online through Zenni Optical, where I ordered glasses and frames for under $80.00. I would discourage anyone from going to WM's Vision Center and/or believing the cock and bull pitches from their clerks.

I went to get new glasses and contacts. I told the doctor I had glaucoma and I didn't know if my eyes should be dilated or not. He proceeded to dilate and even overdosed my left eye, which I brought to his attention, but he said no problem. A few hours later, I ended up in the emergency room with very elevated eye pressure and in severe pain. I was put on a morphine IV among other things to stabilize my eye pressure and sent immediately to a specialist. My doctors have all said that this severe pain and eye pressure was definitely due to the dilation. Neither Walmart nor Dr. ** will accept any responsibility for the bill that I have incurred due to this. My doctors have told me that I could have gone blind due to this.

My son needed new glasses for his truck driving job. He got them in time to go on the road for six weeks. Evidently, they were made incorrectly and for six weeks, he suffered with them until I was able to order a set from his old vision place in Ohio from his old prescription. The glasses he received from Walmart Vision Center caused him horrific headaches, swelling eyes, and any use over an hour caused great discomfort. We took the glasses back and told them the problems. They said that perhaps they were ground and made incorrectly. For an additional amount, they could change the type of lens. We just asked for our money back. We will order his old prescription from Ohio again and never trust Walmart Vision Center again.

Two years ago, I bought a new pair of glasses worth over $300. In six months, they broke at the arm that meets at the lens. I took them back to the Vision Center at Walmart and they made me buy another pair of frames, which I didn't think I had to do, but I did anyway because I need my glasses. After six months, they broke again. I had to do the same thing all over again. Then, the glasses broke for the third time. I had to super glue them together so I can use them. I believe that this means that the glasses are faulty. I cannot afford to buy new frames every six months. Is it possible that Walmart can take my prescription and get me a new pair of glasses? I would appreciate whatever you can do for me.

I was told my exam was free and to come in, but after the exam, I was told to pay for it. I had no money with me and it didn't matter that I was told the day before on the phone that the exam was free. I asked specifically how much the exam was going to cost and the lady on the phone said that it's for free. The woman taking care of the bill acted irritated, never apologized and had an attitude throughout the checkout process. I was told without paying for the exam that I would not be prescribed the new lenses I needed for my correct fit.
Early in February 2/18/2009, I went in to get my contacts fitted. I was fitted with Acuview bi-monthly lenses. My eyes unfortunately made these unwearable just after two days of wear. Protein was being built up or my eye lids were tearing them as I blinked. I thought it was just a bad set of lenses so I ordered more through 1800contacts and the new sets were just as bad. Lenses that were supposed to last two weeks were only lasting two days before I could not wear them any longer. In August, I tried to order dailies and was denied by 1800contacts because the daily Acuview made it a whole new prescription.
I contacted Walmart Vision to just allow me to buy the daily Acuview but I got no reply even after leaving several messages. On September 29, I was finally contacted by Nicole to come in for a refitting. The doctor saw me and later, while sitting with the receptionist, I was told there was a charge of $59 for the eye exam. I explained to her it was supposed to be free, but she kept telling me I had to pay. I walked out of there without the right prescription or any contacts that I needed.

I received a letter from my insurance company (Aetna) which said it was time for my eye exam and new glasses. It showed The Vision Center in Wal-Mart as one of the places that accepted Aetna insurance. I called the number on the letter and got the part that actually sells the glasses, not the eye doctor. I asked the girl if they took Aetna insurance and she said yes. I asked her if they were a participating EyeMed provider. She said yes. I told her about the letter from Aetna and she asked what they said my coverage was with them. I told her per Aetna I was to get a 38% discount (on average) for prescription eyewear at participating EyeMed provider locations, plus a $100 allowance which was applied after my 38% discount. She said fine. I told her I needed to schedule an appointment and she transferred me to the eye doctor's office for the appointment.
Well, I went to my eye appointment today. I took my prescription out into The Vision Center and picked out a pair of frames. The young man (very nice) asked for my insurance card so that he could call Aetna and check my coverage. He came back and said that they did not accept Aetna. I told him I had called two days before and they did, so he went and got the manager. Now, she was a piece of work. She just didn't know who I could have talked to. Perhaps I called another store. (Gee I had the eye appointment at the right place). She said that she could give me a 20% discount that would actually save me as much as my insurance would have. Now think about that. I was supposed to already get a 38% discount (on average per my letter) and then another $100 after the discount. I told her to go ahead and figure up how much my glasses would cost then. And I told her I wanted glass lenses instead of plastic.
Oh, no! I didn't need glass lenses. I should use this other special kind of plastic lenses that were much better than glass. (I tried plastic one time, scratch too easily). I said fine, figure it up. She got her calculator out and said that my cost would be $175.00 which was actually $2.00 less than what my cost would be using my insurance. I told her I wanted to think about it and look at my letter again. I asked the nice gentleman to just give me the individual prices at which time she turned and stomped off. You'll love this. My frames were $99.00, the bifocal glass lenses were $100.00 and if I wanted transitions bifocals, they would be $200.00. So let me see... if I wanted just the plain glass, the total I would pay would be $199.00. He agreed that was correct.
So, in other words, if I figured in my head that I would get about a third off (just roughing out the 38%) the glasses, that would take off about say $65.00 or thereabouts. Then you take off my $100.00 and I would only be paying about $45.00. Let's see, which is less, $175.00 or $45.00? That's hard to figure out. Just how stupid do they think we are? I just wonder if they do not take Aetna, they were going to have me pay $175.00 and then just bill Aetna for what my coverage should be? I will not ever go back in there nor will I recommend them to anyone, and I am going to call Aetna and tell them what happened. I wonder if they are playing about the same scam that CVS was playing on the insurance companies several years ago.

I'd been a previous customer of Walmart Vision and hadn't had a problem until now. I called my local Walmart Vision in February 2009 to schedule an eye exam for myself and my son while I had vision insurance. I'd recently left my job and as of the end of February, I would no longer have vision insurance. They made my son's appointment and proceeded to tell me that I had just had an exam in September of 2008 and the insurance wouldn't cover me until September of 2009. I had thought my previous exam had been in February of 2008, but I didn't argue because I honestly wasn't sure. I had gotten married in October and there was so much craziness in September that it was entirely possible that I had had my exam then and didn't remember. Being as it was February 2009, I could understand how I may have gotten that mixed up.
Well, I had my son's appointment in which he got glasses that have, of course, already broken. The ones they gave us were nowhere near as sturdy as the display ones that we looked at and picked from. That was annoying enough, but now as I'm trying to get more contacts from 1-800-Contacts, I'm told by them that Walmart said my prescription had expired in February - the same month that I previously had tried to make an appointment. I called Walmart in case they mixed something up only to find out that it did indeed expire in February. Well, now I have no vision insurance and can't go get another exam as I cannot afford it since I will now have to replace my son's crappy glasses from there. Needless to say, I will take my business elsewhere from now on. That is just totally unacceptable. I will say at least that the woman that I talked to today about it was very nice and never once rude.

I have needed bifocal glasses for the past several years. I went to Wal-Mart Vision Center in Wetumpka, Alabama to have my eyes checked and purchase glasses. After the exam, I was told that I did not need bifocals. I reluctantly agreed, due to the fact that Wal-Mart Vision personnel are supposedly state board certified. After I received my glasses and attempted to wear them, it was apparent that the person who examined my eyes made a wrong diagnosis. I cannot see out of them at all and they are virtually useless when I'm reading or watching TV.

We have always bought our eye glasses from Walmart, but no more. Last February, I spent over $500.00 on a pair of glasses buying your White Stag frames. I thought since White Stag was your brand, everything would be fine. The ear piece came off in July and I took them back to see if they could fix them. The vision center informed me that the frames were only guaranteed for 60 days and they could not do anything at all for them. They also said the frames were now discontinued.
I was told when I bought them the frames were guaranteed for a year. So, I brought them home and glued the ear piece back on. A few weeks later the other ear piece came off, too, so that I had to glue them also. Now, they don't fit right and I cannot afford another pair, so I am stuck with them. I do not see well at all without them. The only time I ever took them off was when I went to bed and laid them on the table beside me so I could have them right away when I got up. I have taken very good care of my glasses as I know I cannot afford a new pair for a while since we are retired now.

This is an odd location, a web search (iseefine website) would show the doctor's personal band website under vision center at Wal-Mart in Aiken? Anyway, I took my son here for an exam in 2008. Blind in one eye, he needed a DMV form completed by an optician indicating the degree of disability. Gary (the doctor) was very personable and completed both the exam and DMV form. However, a year later, trying to renew my son's permits, he again needed another form completed by an optician. The original DMV form was not accepted as permanent due to its lacking the duration of disability of the blind eye. In this case, it's permanent and uncorrectable. So I called to see if a correction could be made, so the permit could be renewed. I was told they were busy and they would call back. They never called back.
A week later, my wife called again to inquire if they could fax over a corrected DMV form. She was told, "Excuse me, I have other persons here who need to be seen," and that they would call back. But they never did. I left work and drove an hour there, only to find out they were now closed due to new store hours. I kept my son home from school the next day and went in person. I was told the doctor was at lunch, but they would call back or fax the form over. Several hours later, I received a call indicating that the now original DMV form had expired and that they would now need to do another exam before completing a DMV form. It wasn't expired a week prior when they said they would call back. They have some real customer service issues, and I have chosen to walk across the street to Specs for my optical needs. The band thing is fine, but there should be more effort on customer service there versus promoting his band. Priorities?

The lady told me yesterday, on the 20th, that the price has been $100.00 for more than six months. I then told her what the gentleman had quoted me before in my previous visit and she replied that he must have made a mistake and gave me the wrong price. This particular store in question is in my opinion very confusing on their business practices. They can't seem to get their price right - definitely not good business. Last week, I took my husband and three children to Walmart Vision for eye exams and new glasses. We had to go on two separate days because it is their policy not to make appointments for more than two family members per day. We spent a little over $900.00. We do not have any eye insurance, so this was out of our pockets. We were told that the glasses would arrive in about a week. Fine. The next week, I received a call saying that the glasses were in. So that afternoon, I gathered up the family and went to get them. The kids were excited. When we arrived at 3:30, we were told that the only person who can do optical work had just left for her a one hour lunch break. Since we had to be somewhere else by 4:30, we could not wait that long. I was annoyed that there was no one there who could help us.
The next day we went back, only to be told that there is never an optician there on Wednesday and we could not return the next day because there is no optician there on Thursdays either. I asked why this was so. Their explanation was that one woman was on maternity leave. Apparently, their hours are only on Tuesday, Fridays and Saturday mornings. Who on Earth runs a business this way? I am guessing that August is one of the big months for eyewear sales for the year. Why wouldn't they be open during hours convenient for the customers? After four trips to Walmart, I will have to go back again next week.
They were happy enough to take my money, but it is annoying to have to wait another week and make another trip. The salespeople were pleasant enough, but I will never again do business with a place with hours so inconvenient for working moms. They said we were told of these crazy hours in advance, but that was not the case. I could have gone elsewhere and gotten them all in one trip in "about an hour" for roughly the same price. It is much more convenient to do business that way. Next year, I will take my $900.00 to another eye center.

On February 21, 2009, I went to my local Walmart Vision Center and purchased a pair of frames ($98.00) and lenses ($84.00 each = $168.00). When my glasses were ready and I picked them up, I was never informed of any satisfaction guarantee policy. When I got home, I noticed that there were little chips in the edges of both lenses and one lens didn't even meet the frame, you could see some gaping. But I kept them and figured they'd be ok, since I was in need of them, I'd make do.
Now, last week, I noticed that the little chips have gotten much bigger and are very noticeable to others. So I called up the vision center to ask what could be done. I spoke with a gentleman named Brendan (I believe) and he informed me that as long as it was within a year of purchase, I could get new lenses or a refund. So I just went into the vision center. I wanted a refund as I was extremely dissatisfied and not happy with the poor quality and workmanship. Brendan immediately started helping me. He was inputting things into the computer. Finally, I asked if this was going to cost me, because I just wanted a refund anyways. He said there was no charge, but if I wanted a refund, then okay.
He sat down at the computer and began to do something and came to a point where he needed help from another gentleman there, and that was when I was informed I can't have a refund, because it's been longer than the "60-day Satisfaction Guarantee". So I told them to forget it then, I don't want another pair of cheaply made glasses. I just wanted my money back. I spent $266.00 and I was disappointed by them. The other gentleman then began to tell me that everyone knows the 60-day policy. I told him I wasn't aware, no one informed me of it, otherwise why would I wait? I said I understood but again, no one told me!
He then said, it was a very strict 60-day policy, but in his next breath, he told me if it was like a month over that 60 days, he could do something about it. So much for the "strict" 60-day policy, huh? I told them to forget it, I do not want new lenses for this to happen again. I am disgusted with the way I was treated. I am disgusted that on the phone I was told I can get a refund as long as it's within a year. I am disgusted that even in the store I was told I can get a refund, and then suddenly, “Oh no, you can't get a refund, too bad, you are out of luck!”

I do not appreciate being belittled by this woman (Gwen) and told that I cannot purchase what I can afford at this time. If one box is all I can afford, then so be it. I took a prescription for eyeglasses for my teenage daughter to the Walmart Vision Care Center. We have EyeMed insurance and the insurance said they would cover the cost of the glasses with a $5 co-pay. Graciela told me I had to pay more even after I called my insurance and was told by them that I did not have to pay more. My daughter needed the glasses, so I ended up paying more after arguing with Graciela and having my insurance speak with her also. I also bought an additional 2-year warranty as my daughter is hard on glasses.
I was specifically told by Graciela that the warranty would cover the lenses and frames if anything happened for two years. This warranty was purchased in August 2008. A month or so ago, I took my daughter's glasses which are scratched so badly she cannot read out of them and they were very loose into the Vision Center to get them replaced. The lady told me the warranty only covers "lenses and frames"; it does not cover scratches. She said they would only cover the lenses if they were broken.
I feel this is wrong because I specifically was told they would fix or replace her glasses if anything went wrong with them within the two year period. It has only been one year, and they are failing to honor her warranty. That is false advertising and they should be shut down. My daughter still needs glasses and I guess I'm going to have to run them over or break them with a hammer in order for Walmart Vision Center to honor the warranty they sold me. That is just plain wrong.
Now, my daughter who is 16, and ADHD cannot see out of her glasses and I cannot afford to buy her new ones. I have no recourse as Walmart will not honor the warranty they sold me. I paid more for the warranty just so that we would not be in this situation, and Walmart Vision Center misrepresented this warranty to me when they convinced me to buy it. I would not have purchased the warranty if I was just going to have to buy her new glasses anyway.

They had told me that it was possible to get just a trial pair as long as I had my prescription. And so I had called the closest Wal-Mart Vision Care in Port Huron, Michigan. They told me that it wouldn’t be a problem to get me a trial pair and got the number for the Daphne, AL Vision place that I go through. After they had made that contact with them (the Port Huron place), they had called me back and said that it wasn’t possible for them to give me just a trial pair of contacts when I do have an updated prescription to my contacts. And they also told me that in order for me to get them, I had to purchase something from them. And to me, that’s not a way for a business to run when I do spend money at any Wal-Mart and have always went through their vision care.
If in Alabama that had happened to me, I am sure that they would have given me just a trial pair of contacts. I never file complaints because I don’t like to. But after I was in a death defying car accident and almost lost my sister, they could have at least showed me some sort of compassion for what I had went through. That was my first vacation to Michigan in two years and had to go through a car accident to get there. I hope that this never happens to anyone again. When the replacement lenses came in, the incompetent technician screwed up the frames so badly the frames needed replacement also.
After a couple of months of these glasses sitting in the case provided by the Vision Center, the lenses are so badly scratched they need replacement again. I was informed that the lenses being scratched was my fault and were not covered by the insurance that I purchased. This so called technician then went to the back room and returned with a Protection Plan policy that was not out for all to see when making a purchase of glasses. On Saturday, June 13, my husband and I arrived on time to find out that they couldn't confirm our insurance. We rescheduled for the following Saturday and were told that they would confirm the insurance prior to our arrival.
After receiving a call confirming our appointment for Saturday, June 20, we arrived on time and waited, just to be told the doctor did not accept our insurance. What a waste of time, gas, expectancy, and a feeling of no value. The person checking our insurance acted as though they'd done nothing wrong. This complaint is for poor service.
If Wal-Mart and Kenneth **, O.D. care about customer service, he should be made aware of how his potential patients are treated prior to service (Or in our case, no service). A lesson in "empathy" would help them consider the customer by putting themselves in the other person's shoes. How would he feel to have wasted two Saturday mornings sitting in a vision center waiting to only find out they won't accept your insurance. They should have first confirmed and called us about the insurance, so we could have found a provider who would have accepted it. That's called integrity. In addition, if they didn't have frames the same size as my lens, I would have to buy new lens also. Of course, the warranty was way over. The people that I have met in the optical stores at Wal-Mart are hardly ever pleasant unless you are buying something and sometimes not even then.
After all of this action, I was plain mad and sent a very accurate email to the Wal-Mart complaint site. Within a week, someone from the Wal-Mart I had gotten the glasses from called me and said I could come in and pick out a new frame and they would pay for the lens also. I don't know what the background was as to my getting a completely new pair of glasses, but the new glasses were much better than the old one and the frames were of much better quality. So from my experience, don't even complain to the store—complain to the main office.

I took my prescription to Walmart Vision Center intending on getting a less expensive pair of glasses than the last ones I purchased from my optometrist office. I selected a fairly cheap frame (under $80). With $50 for lenses that darken in sunlight, the total for my progressive lens glasses was over $350. That's $100 more than I paid at the optometrist last pair I bought. Within 2 months, the lenses were all scratched up. I'm not a careless child. I'm a partially disabled 55-year-old woman. The scratches were annoying, so I stopped at the Walmart Vision Center when I was at the Presque Isle store and asked the saleslady (same one that waited on me the day I ordered and picked up the glasses) if the scratched lenses could be repaired.
After asking me a number of personal questions to find me in her computer, she announced that my glasses were still under warranty. Then she picked the glasses up off the counter where she laid them, looked at them, looked at me and said the warranty won't cover this, these were scratches. It was like she had just made an amazing discovery. I knew they were scratches, that's what I told her. So I asked again, can they be repaired. She said no, not unless I wanted to buy new lenses. Since the lenses cost about $275, of course, I didn't want another pair of cheap lenses for a very expensive price. Buyer beware, their glasses are expensive, their service questionable, their quality poor. My next glasses will definitely be purchased from professionals that back their products and probably cost less than Walmart.
