I like how easy it is to find the right pair for you. Love how informative they were during the whole appointment. I was pleased to be in and out easily. It was super easy to make a decision with their help. Loved the experience, not hard at all. But, I did not like how long it took for me to make an appointment. It was a long waiting period before it was my turn even after my appointment was past due.

Cohen's optical offers so many options overall and They have so many frames to chose from, so it's easy to satisfy everyone. I like the materials they use and it's really easy to find frame shape that'll suit your face features. I like that they offer many designers and also accept many major insurances. They are willing to work out payment plans if you don't have insurance. They carefully tend to each customer to their specific needs, they have very experienced and knowledgeable employees and they help customer through the whole process with fitting, sizing and Overall comfort. Everything was good when I went there for fitting. I was welcomed and helped in very fast manner. Their waiting times though sometimes is pretty long.

They were very courteous and knowledgeable of their business. The frames that are available are always top of the market. They know what they are doing in terms of the corrective lens business. Their business style is very preferable and it is always a pleasant experience. They are all doing a good job and they very much know how to treat customers and clients correctly. When it comes to vision people they tend to be on the upper part of the spectrum.

The exam was quick and easy, and the doctor was very professional. Cohen's has a large selection of frames, so I had plenty of choice. The staff was very happy to show me different styles and give opinions on what looked good and would work with my prescription. The glasses are comfortable, too, with spring-loaded hinges and nose pads. I like that they sit securely even when I'm exercising or sailing. They came in several colors, so I could pick what I like. Also, they had Transitions lenses, so I only needed one pair. But I felt that the lens were expensive, especially with the various coatings being extras. I also wish the Cohen's deals worked with my vision insurance. As it was, I felt like I might be able to get a better deal online.

How do I know I can trust these reviews about Cohen's Fashion Optical? There was a sign at the door that said eyeglasses started at $99 but they said that was not... When I bought them they barely turned in the sun like my old ones did.

The experience was nice. There was a wide variety of fashionable choices. The staff was very helpful though I did not need much help. The store ambiance was nice and quiet. The store was very clean too. Great glasses and would buy again. They are scratch-resistant and they are sleek. They are glare-resistant and the color is nice. They aren't big and owl-like. They are light, not too heavy on my face. They make me look nice and I like the shape of the lens. But I wish they were a little more glare-resistant. I also wish they didn't attract so much dust and didn't smudge as much as they do. Otherwise, I don't have much to complain about.

Good one stop glasses shopping. These guys are literally everywhere and have offered a decent experience. They have a good selection of frames, but I don't go to them much anymore because I found other places that I either prefer or that offer frames that are just as good but less expensive. However, back before the industry disruptors took hold, this was one of my main places to get new glasses. I always found the staff to be friendly, but I did have an experience with an optometrist that didn't believe me when I filled out my medical forms, I'm assuming because I'm a bit overweight. She assumed I HAD to have high blood pressure and a ton of other things, where I went for a physical earlier that year.
My glasses are pretty basic since they are "value" frames, but they are thin-wire rimmed glasses with a touch of color. They are my backups at the moment but I still really like them. They are comfortable on the sides and stay put for the most part, even though I always expect a little slipping as time goes on because I have an oily T-zone. The glasses suit me well and the optometrist was nice and addressed my concerns. Sometimes places make you feel rushed, but I didn't experience that during my last visit. The glasses get the job done, are comfortable and suit my face shape.

It was a great experience because the employees helped me pick out the perfect pair of lenses and I love how stylish and fabulous they make me feel in my everyday life. I love the color and shape of the lenses. It really helps accentuate my eyes. But I would definitely improve the price of the lenses by lowering it and making it more affordable. Still, I am so happy.

The workers were helpful and the store had many different designs and color options. The workers seemed willing to actually take the time to answer my questions. I enjoyed the color options and the frame options. It gave me a lot to choose from. There was an area available for me to try on glasses and some of the designs were fun/funky (in a good way). But I would like if the prices were a little more affordable. My insurance covered some of the price but it was still pricey. That is not directly the problem with the store itself though.

The office staff was great. The doctor was wonderful, very professional and welcoming. Answered all of my questions and offered some advice, very warm and helpful, they were covered under my insurance which was a great incentives to continue to go with my insurance. The glasses are sleek and modern, darker colored with a little thick of rims which in my complexion really looks great and match everything, they are fashionable and yet classic so that the style will never go out. I like everything about the glasses which is why I picked them, they were a little more expensive than other brands but I do believe the price was worth it overall. It was a great time and I would definitely go back.

So all people can't buy it easily to use. If it is more cheaper then all people will interested in it & willing to use it. But other than that, Cohen's produce great glasses. I was able to use a Groupon for an eye exam and frames. It was a pretty good deal even though I had to choose from the cheapest frames they offered. The pair I got broke pretty soon after I got them. I was able to fix them in my own, but they weren't very high quality. It would be nice if they had offered some better frames at a lower price.

On October 3rd I went into the store on Pelham Parkway, everything was going fine. I was finished with the optometrist it was now time to choose a frame, they kept pushing the most expensive frames in my face telling me I don’t know about fashion. I picked a frame that I couldn’t even see because I was being rushed. They quickly took my debit card and charged $379 that was after an $80. Discount. They have coupon on their website, but they have every excuse in the book why you can’t use them. I asked for a refund they claim I can only get a credit and that’s their policy which is on their receipt. It’s nowhere on my receipt. Be careful. Now I have to go to court to file papers.

I bought a pair of eyeglass bifocal. My insurance paid and in addition I paid $200.00 out of pocket. I purchased anti glare and anti scratch with a new frame in 2017 in July or August. Now in about 14 months the glass has lost anti scratch/anti glare, and see spots on both the glass. Having problem seeing, on top of that the frame has lost its coating that touches my face.
I went to the store. The saleswoman said: "They do not provide any warranty on eyeglasses and frame", they cover warranty for one year with additional 25 dollar? Normally all union pays once every two years and I believe my glass is covered for two years? I want a refund so that I can buy from other store? Or the store should fix my eyeglass free of charge. About four and a half years ago, November 2013, I did business with Cohen's Fashion Optical (at the upper west side store, West 114th street and Broadway, in Manhattan, New York) to have lens put on my new, rimless, Christian Dior eyeglasses frames. The Christian Dior frame costed me about $450 each. They did a very bad job, plus losing both demo lenses of the Christian Dior frame, rendering the CD frame to be useless. After spending a lot of my time and effort with Cohen's and many unsatisfactory responses from the store, I eventually had to sue them at the small claims court in Harlem, New York. In February 2014, the court granted me the judgement in my favor with the total amount, $938.00. Cohen's Fashion Optical sent me a cheque of $520.00 and failed to pay me the rest of the judgement amount, $418.00.
I contacted this Cohen's store at W114 Street and Broadway which told me to contact their headquarter's customer service and provided me with the phone number. Numerous times I called but that phone only had an answering machine hooked on. Despite leaving them numerous messages and time spent, Cohen's never returned my calls nor paid me the remaining balance of the court judgement they owned me.
Then I had to spend money and hired the New York Marshal's Office to chased after Cohen's. The Marshal's Office chased after Cohen's numerous times but Cohen's continued failing to pay. The Marshal's office told me the next step they could do would be going to Cohen's store and took their goods. But such service would cost me at least two thousand dollars. That doesn't seem like a good choice for me, so I declined. Then I returned to the Harlem Court spending my time and paying additional court fees to proceed with court procedures trying to collect this remaining balance.
To this date, June 11th, 2018, more than 4 years and 2 months after the court judgement, Cohen's Fashion Optical still failed to pay me the remaining balance of the judgement amount. If a company doesn't even follow the court's order, will you want to do business with such company??? I definitely won't. Based on principle, I definitely will continue with additional court procedures to chase after the remaining balance Cohen's owned me.

I had an appointment for a DMV eye exam that takes less than 5 minutes. Received many texts confirming the time of the appointment except when I arrived the 'optometrist' was too busy filing prescriptions to see clients. He thinks it is ok to have people wait but I think my time is as valuable as his. The poor guy, so insecure, so hostile, such a chip on his shoulder. When I complained about the wait, he could not control his anger. Ultimately would not serve me because of his perceived issues with ** privilege. If you can't deal with people, don't get a people job. This man is a liability to the business and to himself. Good riddance.

I bought a Groupon deal from this company for "an eye exam with 300$ Credits towards frame and lenses" (which looked so attractive and so much as it looks) and called them to make an appointment. They said I still need to pay at least 50$ just to have an eye exam and need to pay extra 100 for glasses. So overall 150$ at least. Thinking that I wouldn't pay for either my eye-exam and glasses under 300$, I found this shocking and disappointed in the service. My friendly advice: DON'T BELIEVE IN GROUPON DEALS FROM THIS COMPANY. I don't know how many people got deceived by such deals and I'm surprised how this company makes profit part of its profits from misinforming and baiting people to get their deceiving deals. Shame!

I ordered glasses from this store on June 12, 2017, and was told they would be ready for me by Friday, June 16th. This was important to me, since I will be going out of town this week. Although I have always had a good experience in this particular store, 667 Lexington Ave, the person I usually deal with was on vacation. So the "boss" waited on me, interspersing our contact with several phone calls on his cell phone. He stated he would call me when the glasses were ready. Since I received no call, I went into the store today, Monday June 19th. A young woman looked through all the drawers but could not find them.
Finally, she looked in the original tray, and there were the frames with my prescription, but no work had been done on them. I then requested a refund of my $200 and said I would have to get them made where I was traveling to. The "boss" refused, saying they were just waiting for the lenses to come in. I did not believe that lenses had even been ordered, so I stated that I would dispute the charge with my credit card company, which I have done. Despite the convenience of this store to my apartment, I will not be using them again. It used to be a pretty crowded store, but now not so much. I think that the "boss" needs better supervision!

I saw a Groupon for Cohen's Fashion Optical that included an eye exam and $300 for an eye exam. Before I purchased the Groupon, I called the store and was told that designer eyeglasses varied in price from $100 to thousands of dollars. I asked if I would be able to buy something under $300 and was told yes. I bought the Groupon and made an appointment. When I got to the store, Cohen's refused to honor the Groupon saying that I would need to spend a minimum of $187 on top of the $300 credit on the Groupon. There was a sign at the door that said eyeglasses started at $99 but they said that was not available for Groupon users. This bait and switch tactics should be illegal. Be warned, don't do business with Cohen's Fashion Optical!!!

Saturday April 8, 2017 approximately 1:00 pm. At Smith Haven Mall NY. I went into Cohen's Fashion Optical in search of new eyeglass lenses and heard of their sale advertised on TV. I was approached by a salesperson Cara. She asked me if I had AARP or AAA. I said yes and she said that I would receive a 30% discount. I told her I was not feeling well she offered me a chair but I turned it down because the counter was so high and I would be embarrassed being the only person in this small store sitting, especially in the walkway.
I inquired about lenses and different qualities and their difference along with pricing but she became annoyed by my lack of understanding of her vague information. She was intimidating me as if I was stupid, I had to mention to her several times that I was a bit slow due to not feeling well. Nevertheless she was in a hurry and pushing me to make a decision by her public display and creating a scene of impatience to everyone in the small store about how stupid I was. I admit I was not feeling well I asked her to please have patience with me. I paid for the order because, like most people I just wanted the interrogation-like abuse to stop. Yes I was in a weak condition and she was determined to close the deal. I left the store thinking in my mind what just happened.
I sat outside the store in the mall lobby with my companion who witnessed the whole experience and had been by my side the whole time and we discussed what we had just went through. He asked me If I received the 30% discount. We looked over the receipt and it was not on the receipt she wrote up in front of me. It was a different newly written receipt (see attachment) one with no information but a total.
I immediately went back to the store and ask her for an itemized receipt of what I just purchased, preferably the one she just wrote up in front of me. With extreme drama and fuss, she made a photocopy and gave it to me but not without her intimidations, as if my request was so unreasonable and that something is terribly wrong with me in wanting to know what I just purchased and how much I was charged for each of the products on my receipt. But as it turns out she never even gave me the information I asked for (see receipt) and see if you can tell what products and what each product cost me? Where's the 30% discount?
Feeling even worse my companion drove us home. We were still stunned by the whole experience. I never want to go back in that store ever again or ever encounter Cara again. I don't trust Cohen Optical and I don't believe I will ever receive the real products I actually paid for, especially since I have no way of knowing what it is we agreed upon. Secondly I do not want to subject myself to the power struggle with these aggressive employees at time of pick-up and fitting at this point it would be more stress then I can handle. So I called the store as soon as they open 11 am on Sunday morning and canceled my order. That was when I was told there were no refunds but that she would take $100. Off of the total.
Here is a prime example of their manipulation of pricing. I just want to cancel my order and Cara then became abusive yelling at me to the point I had to ask her to stop yelling at me then she kept cutting me off when I tried to explain why I wanted to cancel my order but instead she kept yelling over me and by the sound of her voice she was holding the phone away from her ear and asking me if I was finished. Abusive, manipulative, mean and cruel, she was not going to let me out of her grip no matter what. This lead me to look up Consumer Affairs regarding Cohen's Optical and lo and behold so many others have had similar if not exact same experiences, especially regarding pricing and receiving incorrect products. I too will have to add my complaints and contact Better Business Bureau especially if I do not get my money back in a timely manner.
I never want to deal with Cohen's Optical again and I will alert all my friends and family about this corrupt company. I want my money back and I refused to accept being tricked by the company by them expediting this order just to clamp down this sale from being canceled. On Saturday April 8th, Cara told me the lenses won't be ready until Friday. Tuesday April 11, Cohen's Optical left a message on my cell saying the lenses were in. This company had a choice, they had plenty of time to stop the order, they did not have to produce these lenses, but as I said they expedited the order to justify their actions.
There is 24 hours in a day. I canceled my order within 24 hours. On a week-end no less. Saturday 1:00 pm to Sunday 11:00 am. I don't trust Cohen Optical Company to prioritize my wellness over their profits. I refuse to be bullied and coerce by them and their unscrupulous business practices. As I found out they are notorious for this behavior. Buyers beware.

This past January I had progressive lenses made at Cohen's at the Treasure Coast Mall in Jensen Beach Florida (I was on vacation and did not have enough time before departure to use my local and usual eyeglass vendor.). The lenses were distorted when done. I was told that this may happen due to the fact that individual differences can occur and result in redoing the lenses. I had to wait an additional 2 weeks for the redo. When asking to use my insurance I was told that the price when using insurance would be $180 (versus the $149 I was charged). This would mean, at the 20% coverage I would have to pay $160 so the $149 was better.
I am now home. I had my sunglass lenses redone at my local vendor. When asked about these problems I was told that Cohen's probably made the glasses incorrectly and not that individual differences apply. My vendor charges the same price regardless of using insurance or not. I would not recommend the Treasure Coast Mall Cohen's. I have used Cohen's locally and have had good results with this franchise.

Cohen's Fashion Optical's Customer Service Department has been supremely negligent with regards to my inquiries concerning the following - all of which I've tried to get them to respond to. I later learned, through internet searches, that some of what occurred with my purchase there are actual violations of consumer protection laws. I am not a lawyer, nor have I consulted one. But enough red flags went up that I am warning the public on this.
1) I did not receive a complete, itemized receipt at the time of my transaction. After my several attempts, I finally received one on January 16, 2017 - 8 weeks following my purchase which occurred on November 16, 2016. When I asked why they didn't give me one at time of purchase, they said they did not issue one "due to the extensive timing such procedures require."
2) They charged me and delivered to me a product that I did NOT order. At the time of my purchase of two eyeglasses, we discussed the possibility of adding a year's supply of eye contacts to my order. I was unsure, however, of what exactly I wanted at that time and, to help my decision, they sent me home with some tester contacts to try. It turns out they actually wrote the cost of those contacts on a separate charge slip, ordered them and charged me $696.80; this separate charge slip was not readily apparent during the time of my purchase - if it had, I would have been alerted to it and stopped the unwanted order.
Not 24 hours after I left their store, they mailed to my residence a big box of contacts; this delivery is what alerted me to the "mistaken" order. I sent them straight back, they accepted the box back and when I asked for a refund, they told me they have a firm policy and offered only store credit. Cohen's customer service rep. did not address the fact that they were ordered against my knowledge.
3) The store clerks led me to believe that they were processing a claim through my insurance but actually did not do so - this caused me to lose my frame benefits, a value of $150. These benefits only occur for me every two years. The very first thing I asked when I walked into their store was "Do you participate with VSP insurance?" When they assured me that they did, I further said, "Good, because I can't even start shopping if you are not a provider." I had no reason to believe they were not going to submit a claim, especially after they took my insurance card and took down my card's information.
It was not until weeks later that I learned from my insurance company that they never submitted a claim, thus costing me to lose my benefits. My insurance company called the store, as I could not get a response from them, and the store manager told my insurance company that the "special deal" they gave me nullified my right to submit a claim. NEVER was that "deal" discussed with me during the time of purchase.
4) Cohen's Fashion Optical charged me New York State sales tax on eyeglasses and contacts, which I later learned are products that should be exempt from NY sales tax. As detailed in number 2 above, they split the final amount onto two charge slips. When I finally received the complete receipts, I discovered that they indeed added 8.75% to each sub-total; 8.75% is the current rate of New York State sales tax. Again, unknown and unseen by me at the time of purchase, I discovered I was charged $133.03 sales tax on two pairs of prescription eyeglasses and $56.80 sales tax on the (unwanted) order of contacts...totaling $189.83 of sales tax paid for this purchase.
5) Unbeknownst to me, Cohen's ordered an expensive and unnecessary lens enhancement for one of the two pairs I purchased. This $299.00 "High Index Lens" enhancement was never discussed with me and I certainly never ordered it. In fact, I had never heard of it until I finally received that receipt 8 weeks later. I actually consulted two, separate opticians and, without telling them what occurred at Cohen's, I presented my prescription to them & told them what I told the clerk at Cohen's as far as what I needed from the lenses (which was single vision, polarized, unbreakable). Neither of the professionals recommended a High Index Lens enhancement. When I presented my prescription and pressed for possibly getting that expensive enhancement, both professionals stressed unequivocally that it was an unnecessary expense when considering my prescription and my needs.
6) Prices always changing. During the 8 weeks I pursued receiving a complete receipt, Cohen's gave much conflicting and incomplete information with regards to the services they provided and the costs of my purchased items. Naturally, this delayed my discovery of much of their deception and over-billing. One example of the always fluctuating prices charged was a red flag in the store that I wish I had heeded: While shopping, I picked up frames which had a tag reading "$299.00". When I decided later to purchase that pair, the sales clerk declared their cost to be "$399.00". I asked her to check the tag, she did and she apologized. Subsequent receipts listed their cost to me at $499.00.
7) The customer service is very, very bad about getting back to me. The first week and a half after my purchase, I attempted on several occasions to talk to the supervisor of the actual store but each time I called she had "just stepped out." I resorted to leaving phone messages at their 1-800 number - no one ever called me back. It was not until I left a poor review on Yelp that someone reached out to me. But their replies to my above concerns have been incomplete and unconscionably slow.
In fact, at the time of this writing, I am still waiting for their response to an email I sent which actually outlined all of the above - I wrote that email on February 3rd, 2017. After hearing nothing back, on February 14th, 2017, I reached out to confirm that they indeed got the email. They sent a short reply saying they were busy and working on it and would be getting back to me. As of this date, February 23rd, 2017, I have heard nothing...20 days with no reply.

I was told to bring them in, that they would let me know if they could be fixed. If not they would have to see if my insurance would cover a replacement pair. I told Nikki that I had already called my insurance, and that I am covered for replacements, if lost or broken etc. Nikki/Renee (manager) just glanced at my glasses and told me they can't be fixed, then Renee told me she was not going to give me the same frame. "You can't get those frames with your insurance." Renee went to the back, came back out and told me that my insurance said that I had to pick a different frame (all of which was a lie, because I called my insurance to report the manager and the way I was treated, my insurance told me that Renee didn't call them as she said).
I told Renee, that I was going to report her, to corporate, she said "Well good luck with that." Needless to say that I did report her to Chrissy **, in charge of complaints, etc, I even wrote a letter to the President/CEO, Robert Cohen, of Cohen's Fashion Optical, to no avail. Cohen's lied to my insurance and even faxed in a falsified copy showing that the frame that I had from the start was a (Jubilee Burgundy/Crystal frame) when the frame that I was offered from the start was a (Tiffany Burgundy/Crystal frame) of which I sent pictures of my original frame to my insurance to show the frame that I had, but to no avail.
As of today's date, I am still without glasses and suffering from headaches, as I need glasses for all of my daily doings, reading, watching tv, computer use, etc. I will take this matter to the media, as well as contacting a lawyer if need be. The only resolution I will accept, is Cohen's honoring the original frame that I was offered from the start (Tiffany Burgundy/Crystal Frame) as replacement, of which I was given the same replacement when I lost them, as should I receive the same frame, now that one of the arms came off, as well.

I owe $250.00 of that $805. The last time I went to Cohen's without insurance, they gave me the same service for FREE if I bought contacts from them. They are a bunch of CROOKS. This is insurance fraud. I was literally at the location for an hour and somehow they performed 8 tests?

They could not possibly have because my frames were still in the store and they needed my frames to fit the new lenses in. They were EXTREMELY belligerent and said they don't refund. The shipping came in only a week, which is much faster than any online or in store eyewear purchase I've ever made in the past, and there was nothing at all wrong with my order. Many other eyewear retailers do have a larger selection, however their prices are often higher. I was able to find the pair I wanted, but I've heard others say they can't find the ones they want.

Then they offer me a generic cohen's case because they have NO Ferragamo cases. $450 frames and you can't give me a Ferragamo case to hold it in.
I used the care credit option and never received a bill. I had to call care credit to find out the person who filled out my paperwork - got my address wrong. So they had to resend me a new card and bill. I am already two months behind in payments now. Then I find out I cannot use my HSA to pay for the bills which I was told at Cohen's. Great optometrist. He's almost worth the hassle of putting up with the confused and/or deceptive people up front. They will attempt to deny or distort your insurance benefits so you spend more money with them. My insurance pays $100 towards contact lenses per year. Very simple. No restriction on the number of boxes -- you could purchase 1 box or 100 boxes, it doesn't matter -- you still get $100 towards that purchase. The two woman up front have a little routine going where they claim the insurance company will only pay the $100 if you buy a year's supply at one time. A year's supply for my contacts would be over $500, and I didn't want to pay that all at once. When I informed them that I had called my insurance company to ask about this very issue and that they were incorrect, the woman claimed they must have just changed their policy -- I absolutely had to buy the full year to get the benefit.
I had them give me a copy of my prescription and said I'd buy my own contacts (I hope everyone knows that they can get a copy of their prescription) and called the insurance company again once I got home. No surprise -- the representative said that Cohen's was completely wrong and was taking advantage of the fact that many people aren't clear on all their benefits. So go there for an exam, but do not buy anything from them unless you don't mind being deceived.

The glasses and frames however, came out to around $300. This was quite more than I expected to spend, but I figured that the more it cost in such a great store, the longer they would last. I even added on the non-scratching lenses to the frames. Tell me how within a month, I dropped the glasses ONCE and they broke apart? They have a no returns policy, so great I'm stuck with no glasses. At least I had the contacts. I initially went for an eye exam in order to purchase my online order for contact lenses. I have been wearing Bausch & Lomb contact lenses for 45 years without any problems. I've been wearing multifocal lenses for 10 years and wanted a better experience for my presbyopia. The optometrist was great but only had other brands to choose from. They do not fill prescriptions for Bausch & Lomb lenses. I had to settle on one particular brand of multifocal lenses that were totally inadequate. They have a no return policy with no Satisfaction Guarantee. I discarded those lenses and ordered through them some monovision lenses which gave me a better visual experience but I could only wear them for 6 hours at a time before I experienced intense discomfort and itching.
Of course, I couldn't return those either. I then decided that I would order the Bausch & Lomb lenses with the prescription on file with Cohen's Fashion Optical through my usual online retailer. They of course had to verify my prescription before fulfilling my order. To my dismay, my order was declined and they were instructed by Cohen's Fashion Optical to fill my order with the brand that caused my discomfort and dissatisfaction. This entailed several phone calls to rectify the situation. Needless to say, I will not be returning. My prescription is good for one year of my exam date and I can only hope that I can refill my prescription online without difficulty during the proper time frame.

You are using a Groupon," and refused to honor the Groupon that they put out.
To boot, I checked online and the same glasses and lenses are no more than $300 total. I asked for a refund and was told they will price match. Unfortunately for me going to Cohens in Middletown, NY was a seven hundred dollar mistake. I went there needing a decent pair of progressive lenses good for driving, reading and everything else in between. I needed non glare a must and needed the lenses to turn to sunglasses for extreme sensitivity to sunlight during activities and especially driving. The salesgirl was very helpful, but after three weeks I received my glasses I had an issue. Any light, street light, sun or headlight I saw was one big streak of glaring light. The also did not darken in car while driving or darken enough when in direct sun! The two most important thing I needed and paid quite a bit for it.
Within a few days I brought glasses back and spoke with salesgirl and then a very arrogant man who spoke to me like I was an idiot and didn't know anything about glasses. I explained to him about the glare and streaks in the light of any kind and started looking at glasses then stated I had a scratch on lenses which he told me I did, but watched him scratch it when removing the lenses. He told me well it is covered and that they could recoat glasses for the glare but that there was nothing wrong with them. I stated something needed to be done to correct for all the money I paid. Two weeks later I got them back and they are no different than when I first ordered them. For 700.00 I got an expensive pair of glasses that have been useless to me.
I will never go there again and suggest no one else does. They were no help and man was rude and nasty. Scratched my lenses and blamed it on me. So rudeness and laziness left me with 700. I recently visited the Cohen's Fashion Optical on 86 West 125th Street in New York, NY 10027 and had a very negative experience when being seen by the optometrist, and a fraudulent experience when dealing with the billing with a sales representative and the store manager, **. On December 18, 2015, I went to Cohens Fashion Optical for my appointment with the optometrist for my eye exam, and an updated prescription. During my appointment, the optometrist did not explain to me what I would be expecting to undergo during the glaucoma test procedure, where there would be a direct puff of air into my eye.
When the first puff of air went into my eye, I had a very bad reaction to it because I wasnt expecting that to happen, and it wasnt explained to me beforehand. I began to cry from shock that there was a direct puff of air in my eye, and the optometrist said in a mocking and condescending tone, "If you want to be a doctor, you have to be able to handle this." Then she forcefully told me to suck it up and to just deal with it and get it over with. I felt forced, cornered, and left without any options. At this point, I couldnt stop the tears streaming down my face, and then the optometrist finally said, "Oh, I dont want them to see you crying. We dont have to do the glaucoma exam." The optometrist did not explain to me before that I had an option to opt out of the exam, and come back to do the eye drops where my eyes would be dilated.
I was distressed and alarmed that I was not told my options beforehand, when I first displayed a bad reaction to the exam. In that moment, I felt defeated, bullied, and forced into a procedure that was causing me more pain. The optometrist never apologized or expressed remorse for what had happened. When I called the store manager to tell him about my experience a couple days later, he told me that I was lying, and exaggerating the experience because the optometrist they have is the best around. The store manager also said that I didnt understand what was going on, and that I was a bad customer. The store manager never apologized or expressed remorse for my negative experience with the optometrist. I had a fraudulent experience when dealing with the billing with a sales representative and the store manager, **.
After my negative experience with the optometrist during my eye exam, the sales representative pressured me into buying glasses, because wearing contacts were not good for my eyes. I was rushed out of the store, because they were closing, and was not given my prescription, a sales receipt, or any paperwork even though I requested for it. I was also never told that the store had a strict no refund policy. After caving into the pressure and the falsified health advice I was receiving from the sales representative, I came into the store a week later, after receiving a call that my glasses were ready. When I tried the frames on, they did not sit well on my face, and I was seeing double vision. I decided that I would rather wear contacts, and told the sales representative that I would like a refund.
At this point, I did not take the glasses outside of the store, and it was my first time seeing them after they were ordered. The store manager came out to speak to me, and very rudely said, "we dont give refunds, it was written on your sales receipt." I was shocked to hear this and told the store manager that I was never given a sales receipt, because I was rushed out of the store, and also the sales representative never verbally told me about the strict no refund store policy. I then explained to the store manager that I dont like to wear glasses and wanted a full refund for my glasses order. The store manager said they would call me back in one business day, after making some phone calls, and then get back to me. I never saw a no refund policy posted in the store, and it was never pointed out to me or brought to my attention in any way.
This was the first time I was hearing about it. The business manager did not call me the next business day, nor the next. After waiting patiently and feeling increasingly anxious about the process, I decided to call the store. I was then placed on a 40 minute hold, and told that he was with a client. I hung up and called back again, and then was immediately able to speak to the store manager. On the phone the store manager was abrupt and rude, and kept interrupting me when I tried to talk to him.
He said that, I was being unreasonable and needed to meet them halfway, and then proceeded to tell me that he could get me different frames and have the balance be store credit. I told him that I wanted a full refund because I dont like wearing glasses, and felt pressured to buy them from the sales representative due to false health advice, and was soon moving out of New York City. The call ended with the store manager coarsely said that he didnt care, and that I was an unpleasant customer and that I should just deal with it.

I got a Groupon deal that turned out to be complete BOGUS - like the whole process. The deal in a nutshell is that you get an eye exam and 300 dollar off designer frames - notably if you purchase the same day of the exam, i.e. very little time to consider your purchase. I chose a pair of Versace frames. While I've later found out that Versace frames average around $150-$250, the frames I looked at were around $450-$500. Ive seen no other store pricing them at this level, so a reasonable assumption is that this is Cohen's markup to make up for the discount. Add to that lenses at a cost between $200-$300 and you get the picture, no deal.
I regretted my purchase almost instantaneously and walked into the store 5 minutes later to ask for a refund. I told them that I was of course willing to pay for the eye exam, but needed to think about the purchase itself. I was informed that it was too late, because they just put the order through. Now, a normal/professional business policy would be that as long as the client asks for a refund within a reasonable time, ie. they HAVEN'T STARTED processing the order/making the lenses yet, the order could be cancelled and a refund processed with minimal inconvenience. Not the case; Cohen's would only offer store credit store policy. Well, Cohen's, your store policy is rotten. Keep in mind this is MSRP and you can usually find price at 70% online. If you are so rich and do not mind throwing your money, come here. Otherwise avoid this place as hard as you can.

I recommended that my wife go to Cohen's Optical after I have had several pleasant purchases at their store on Lexington near 60th in NY. My wife went to the shop at 681 Lexington ave. July 7th. The first outrage is she paid $780.00 for her glasses. Second outrage is when she picked them up her vision was blurred and the quote "Doctor" said that the prescription never took her astigmatism into account. She was assured that Cohen's would rush the new prescription, but could not guarantee that she would have the glasses by the time she left for vacation on July 16.
Sometime between July 16 and July 22 a message was left that the glasses were ready. She went to pick them up on July 23. She still had blurred vision in both lenses. The arms of the glasses were too long and slipped off. They had not been fitted before the prescription had been sent in. After the arms were adjusted, she couldn't see clearly through either lens. She asked for a refund, and was told that no one was available to authorize it.
On July 27 she called the store at 4 pm to ask if the glasses were ready and was told they were still working on them and they would be ready in an hour. (The lab is in the store?). When picked up they appeared to have the exact same prescription as they had the weekend of July 11, i.e., blurry vision in the left eye. Again there was no manager to address the refund per my request. Not sure what the next step is but per NYS I can file for malpractice as it is my insurance but a simple refund is all we wish. We are getting nowhere with Cohen's.

I have purchased a very expensive bifocal, extra thin, transition lens from Cohen's Fashion Optical at Roosevelt Field Mall and a year later the lens started to discolor and an oily film started to develop that could be removed, making it practically unreadable. I was using only the lens cleaner they provide to us to clean and when I told them about it, one to the saleswomen said "Your glasses is nearly two years old and you probably need new glasses." This has never happen to me and I just paid over $400 for these lens and now I need to get new lens in less than two years - that is a rip off. I agree with the previous complaints, DO NOT GO TO COHEN'S FASHION OPTICAL because they sell an inferior product and charging consumers high retail prices.

I ordered eye exam and glasses using my UFT voucher from Cohen's on Sunrise hwy, LI. Glasses received were not of the correct prescription. The glasses were $399.00. Once getting a second exam from another doctor the glasses received from Cohen Optical on Sunrise Highway, Long Island were found to be incorrect prescribed and improper for my vision. On my return to Cohen's Vision to rectify the situation. The manager named Glen was unprofessional and told me that he would not refund my money even after he had given me a 90 day warranty. This complaint was filed within a few days of one week. My argument was that he had given the warranty and I could not trust him to redo the glasses. Because of his attitude I will never recommend or use Cohen's services again. His attitude was horrendous in my attempt to rectify what is a complete lost to me.

After getting an exam for new lenses paid then waited for the lenses to come in. After a week or 2 I got a call. They came in and went to pick up my regular and sunglass lens. When they installed my regular glasses and gave them back to me I put them on and they were worse than my original old lenses, the manager "**" said they will take a while for me adjust. After 10 min. they were hurting my eyes so they gave me another exam and told me my eyes went out of wack in the week and a half since my 1st exam and I needed a new prescription, so I told him my eyes didn't go out of wack in a week and 1/2 but the "Dr." ** wrote a wrong script.
When they came back in another week and 1/2 he gave them to me and when I put them on my vision was worse than ever and once again I was told I had to adjust to them. My daughter noticed one of the lenses was severely scratched and the other one was clear. I brought them back into the store and complained that they only put 1 new lens in and left an old lens in, he said "I thought I was only switching 1 lens out". He gave me a small bag which inside were supposed to be the old lenses but when I showed him the 2 lenses in the bag sure enough there was 1 scratched and 1 clear lens, he then put the new correct lens in and my vision was improved.
They then said my sunglass lenses had to be sent out and a "rush order" will be put on them as they messed up the 1st time and a rush order was in order. That was another LIE they told me as there was no note whatsoever on the paperwork when I asked to see it, so I had to wait another 2 weeks for a "rush job". The new lenses came in today and when I went to pick them up, the manager was a TOTAL CREEP. There were 3 other employees just sitting around doing nothing listening to my complaint giving me the stink eye like all of Cohen's Fashion Optical mess ups were my fault. And not once did the manager EVER say they were sorry for all the mistakes they made.
I am 57 years old and have worn glasses my whole life and NEVER have had such a HORRIBLE experience correcting my vision. The Lawrenceville NJ store has the most incompetent employees I have ever had to deal with. I still can't see correctly with what they gave me. Now I know why there weren't any customers in that store whenever I was in there. I wish I knew then what I know now. PLEASE don't find out for yourself you will be so sorry. I don't know about Cohen's other stores but The Quaker bridge Mall store in Lawrenceville NJ will make you sick to your stomach, and your eyes won't be any better than when you 1st walked in due to an MAJORLY INCOMPETENT EXAMINER.

A little over a year ago I purchased 3 pairs of prescription glasses at Cohen's Fashion Optical in Forest Hills. One pair was bifocals for which I paid over $300. Within 6 months the finish on the frame started coming off and after about a year only the bare metal was showing on the frames. I suspect they were cheap knockoffs from China for which I was charged an exorbitant price. In addition, despite the fact that I chose to have various coating on the lenses at a substantial additional price, every 30 minutes or so the lenses fogged up to the extent that they were unusable and had to be cleaned every 30 minutes.
I also purchased 2 pairs of reading glasses for which I paid approximately $200 each. After about 6 months the frame on one pair literally came apart and was unfixable. The frame on the other pair took a shape of its own to such an extent that they were unusable. In sum, I paid over $700 for 3 pairs of prescription glasses and today not one of them is usable. My advice is DO NOT GO TO COHEN'S FASHION OPTICAL because they sell an inferior product.

Cohen's refused to give me a refund of the $200 I paid to fix my lenses after they were not able to fix them. I bought my glasses at Cohen's Fashion Optical in NYC 4/1/14 and the lenses were off balance. I brought them back to fix and they told me they were fixed, but I still could not see out of them. I had to move to FL to take care of my parents so I was not able to go back to the NYC store. I found a Cohen's Optical in the Boca Town Center and call them to let them know about my issue. They told me to bring my glasses in and they would correct them. I brought my glasses in on 4/3/15 and ** laughed at my lenses saying my prescription of -1.75 in each eye was easy and it could be fixed. He was going to initially charge me $250 because they do not accept my VSP Insurance. He then said they lowest he could go was $200. So I paid that amount and went back on 4/6/15 to pick up my new lenses but it was the same issue, the lenses were off balance.
** tried to say that it was my eyes and that the prescription was correct. He was trying to say I have a prism in my eye, but I in fact do not. He said for me to come back on 4/10/15 to talk to the manager there because he didn't know what to do at this point. I told ** that my old glasses that I am still currently wearing have PD measurements of 31.8 on the left and 32.5 on the right. ** said the PD measurement didn't mean anything even though his PD measurements were not the same, they were 31.5 on the left and 32 on the right. He said it wasn't a big enough measurement difference to matter. I went back on 4/10/15 and neither ** nor the manager were there that day. I spoke with a rude lady there that knew nothing about what transpired with my glasses but continued to say the prescription is correct. I was fed up at this point and didn't want to keep driving to Boca Raton when I live in Coconut Creek.
So I asked for my glasses and my $200 back. The lady said they do not issue refunds, which was never told to me when I first paid the $200. I at that point took my glasses and said I would file a Better Business Bureau Complaint and Cohen's Optical Complaint because this is poor customer service and did not resolve any of my issues I sought help for. Your Desired Resolution: $200 back that I paid to correct my lenses, but that were never corrected. I am being forced to go to another optical to correct my lenses, which I bought and have not been able to wear for over a year now. I will never go to another Cohen's Optical again.

Cohen's Fashion Optical has to be the worst experience ever - Hylan Blvd. There are no words to ever describe the staff and their behavior. The manager ** appears to be professional and will patronize you to no end to make you think he is sincere, but at the end of the day, he is just as horrific as his staff. I made an appointment on 2/22/15, and they recommended me to go with progressive lenses, so I did so. I went back the following week to pick up the glasses and the old man river said, "I don't have the case and I'm not following off a ladder for you." I called the next day to advise them the prescription appears to be incorrect. I go in the following Saturday to find out that they gave me the wrong prescription and told me I needed a second pair of glasses, with a new prescription, just for reading.
I was so upset at that point I just agreed and had to pay out of pocket. My expense was $500 for the first pair and I had to leave a $90 deposit for the second. This gets better: I went back the following Saturday, 3/8/15, to speak with the manager, **. I explained that I didn't understand why I needed a 2nd pair of glasses, that just defeats the purpose of progressive lenses! He agreed and then had me re-take the eye exam which showed that my distance is actually a lot worse than the prescription! He then agreed to refund me the $90 for the second pair of glasses (WHICH HE NEVER DID) and said he will fix my progressive lenses.
I called the following Saturday 3/15/15, and asked if the glasses were ready, and a "saleswoman" (the devil) states, "No they are not ready, you were just here on Saturday and we didn't send them out until Monday." Out this point I am outraged, I asked to speak with ** and yet again he wasn't available. I got off the phone and I was literally devastated. On Monday, I called my insurance to tell them what happened, needless to say, they didn't have a claim on file. Now to add insult to injury, I found out they overcharged me for the Progressive lenses and I have been robbed without a gun. I then called the store with my insurance company on the line, and the old man river hung up me.
I went in on Saturday 3/29/15 to go get my glasses to find out that the lenses still were wrong! I then again asked for ** to find out that he again, wasn't available… Saleswoman (the devil) rudely stated, "He's off and he's entitled to vacation." I asked her multiple times to get him on the phone so she finally did, with an attitude. ** didn't pick up (surprise there!) Since they overcharged me for the frames and lenses and I received no help, I called my credit card company and explained to them what happened and now they are handling the dispute between Cohen and myself. I am going to get my money back. DO NOT EVER USE THEM. THEY ARE THIEVES. THEY MAKE CRIMINALS LOOK LIKE SAINTS. Oh one more thing, the case that came with my $500 glasses was broken!!! STAY AWAY!

I bought progressive glasses from this store in 2013. When I purchased my glasses for $745, I bought an insurance policy that I was told at the time would cover the lenses and frames, in the event they were damaged. In August of 2014, I left my glasses at the Citgo gas station. When I went to retrieve them, the frames were twisted and the lens was scratched. When I contacted the store to get the lens and frames fixed, I was told by the manager (the same man who told me the insurance policy I was buying would cover the lens), informs me that the policy did not cover the lens, only the frames. He said the policy was only $25.00 and there is no way it would cover the lens. I explained to him that I asked for the insurance policy because of the amount of money the lens cost me, and that is what they gave me. They do not hand out pamphlets when you buy the policy, they just charge you and tell you, you have it.
I got the frames replaced and as if that wasn't bad enough, the manager tells me on the phone that the glass looks like it was scratched by a dog. So now, I not only have $800 glasses that look horrible, they have called me a liar. I told him I would never spend almost $800 on glasses and not get the most expensive part, the lens, insured. He refused to replace my lenses. I then sent a letter to their corporate office. I gave her my phone number to contact me with any questions, which she did not. After many weeks, she wrote me back and basically reiterated the manager's side of the story.
Stay away from this facility. First, they gave me the wrong script, sold me an insurance policy and verbally stated it covered the lens, which it did not. They do not give you an insurance policy pamphlet, when you ask for one, they say it is in the system. I read a few other reviews which spoke about high pressure sales, and I agree. This is one case where you do not get what you paid for.

But since I have $100 glasses credit from my insurance, the lady tried to convince me to get a pair of sunglasses. She showed me some really expensive ones ($500), and I told her I just didn't plan to spending that today. She then convinced me to get something less expensive, and when I told her "No" politely, she said that if I don't get anything today, I will lose my glasses credit! For some reason, I believed her (which I think It was my fault), and got persuaded to give her my credit card. A few minutes later, when I realized what I did, I told the lady that I really don't want the glasses, and rather just get my husband's glasses replaced. She immediately changed her attitude, and said that once the card was swiped, I cannot return it. I felt that she was trying to trick me.
When I get home and told my husband, we both believe that the salesperson was trying to trick me. I have to say it was my fault to give her my card. But i strongly believe that they should not tell me that I would lose my insurance credit if I don't get something the same day. She just forced me and rushed me to make the deal. Absolutely disgusted by their service, and the way they trick and rip customers. I wished I could have read about their poor yelp rating before...I would have never go there. My husband and I, new to reading glasses, trusted the main salesperson of this shop. We used union benefits of $200 each towards the eye exam and frames and thought before going in, that all would be well. Buyer Beware in this place. They are barracudas! We both walked out with reading glasses to the tune of close to $700.00 each. We look like fools don't we. On top of that, the frames I was recommended were flimsy and being new to reading glasses, I could not keep them straight. Reading became unenjoyable. I stopped using them all together. Eventually I bought a pair from a drugstore. Then I decided to return to the shop to see what they could do, because I felt it was ridiculous that so much money was lost.
It turns out the frames he sold me are very particular and that the lenses require a special firm style frame that costs $200, and is unattractive. As I started walking out of the store, the same salesperson said, "How about $150?" I thought to myself, be practical, you will just be using these at home and maybe this will save the day. This was a total, "good money after bad," situation. Through this whole process I now required a stronger strength of reading glasses. I brought in my own custom made frames to get lenses put in them at their location on West 14th St. in NYC. Less than 24 hours later, they spontaneously broke while I was wearing them. This was clearly due to bad craftsmanship of the lenses they made for the frames (the lenses weren't cut right and the pressure broke the frames). The manager offered me 50% off purchasing a new pair of frames, but would not offer me in-store credit for a pair of frames that was comparable in price to the frames I brought it. They claimed they weren't responsible for breaking my frames since they weren't purchased in the store.
I'd like to add that the salesman that sold me the lenses upsold me on a premium protective coating and charged my credit card before telling me that they wouldn't be available for pick up until 5-7 business days, as the coating is put on offsite from their store. I insisted they void the CC charge for the premium coating and just give me the standard coating, and felt they were misleading/dishonest upfront regarding the fact the glasses wouldn't be available the same day before charging my credit card.
All that said, their frames and the pricing for lenses is extremely high. It's a dirty little secret in the eyeglass business that designer frames are the exact same frames as non-designer, minus the brand name logos, which makes the fact they wouldn't offer my in-store credit towards a comparable pair of frames to replace the ones they broke even more frustrating. Don't ever bring your own frames to Cohen's on 14th St. in NYC to get lenses in them, unless you're willing to risk them doing a half-** job and breaking them, and try to rip you off even further by offering a you a "deal" on buying a replacement pair of frames.

Two things: My frames experienced a torsional stress fracture and I brought them in to get them replaced. I went to the one at 539 8th Ave, near the terminal at 42nd, and I spoke to the manager. Instead of treating me like a human being, the big fat man went into a rage. He began to insist we broke the glasses, and when I asked him if the glasses break under normal use, and UNDER the warranty, I am entitled to a repair. He said me to verbatim: "I'm not CSI, how would I know?"
I have a degree in engineering and 2 years experience in accident reconstruction. If I can tell you how a car flipped over in the middle of traffic, I think I can tell you how my glasses broke. The frame admittedly were the stylish girly frames that don't have a lot of structural support. I liked them, they were pretty. After some yelling - actual yelling, the kind of yelling that makes people stop and start to walk OUT. I told him I would talk to the manufacturer, and I walked out. I talked to the parent company that makes the glasses. They confirmed the warranty via e-mail, and phone.
I went back, the manager talked to the frame manufacturer, and they agreed on a FRAME replacement. In the meantime though, they took the lens out of my old glasses and put it into a cheap, ugly new frame gratis. But the lenses are bifocal, and trifocal. They MELTED the lens, and it barely functioned. They replaced the frame however, but never made a new set of lens for it. Mind you, the whole set of glasses was $330. TOTAL.
Then, later, my kid got some free glasses online for us. She wears single vision, and I wear a bifocal trifocal mix. I called to get our prescription numbers, and the lazy woman who was there (I recognized her voice) told me she couldn't tell me that over the phone (???), so I said fax it, and if she could do it in the hour - she said sure. Sure enough, an hour passes, and nothing. So I called, asked, and said I'm coming down there during my break because I had enough of this.
They lost my kid's prescription, and the only helpful one was the optometrist. She was able to get a script off my kid's glasses. The lazy woman who didn't do jack had the nerve to suggest I buy another pair there instead of online. I've never wanted to choke someone so badly. In their polite alluring facade, they were all over you trying to appear so helpful (to their employers really - dedicated workers to the company) that it would be embarrassing to you to deny them the sale when they tell you the ridiculous price. When they told me the price for the frame of 1 pair was $249.00, I went along thinking; well after all I'm getting a second pair free. Then they told me the price; the frame fitted with progressive poly-carbonate photo-chromatic anti-reflective lens after $100.00 discount was $878.00. The free pair cost $190.00 to have progressive anti-reflective lens. Together they totaled a whopping $1,068.00. Optometrist fee $110.00 totaling $1,168.00.
I have never in 57 years paid that much for Optometrist fees plus 2 pairs of glasses (my choice of Designer's Frames and Treatments for both pairs). But here I was with a cheap cheesy plastic frame of their choice and 1 designer frame having to pay such an exorbitant price. What I thought was a deal turned out to be a nightmare and me, too embarrassed to turn them down. Not only that but when I went to pick up the prescription 1 week later, none had correct vision. So the optician fiddled around weakening the components of the frames then gave them to me and told me I have 30 days to determined if they work or I need to revisit the optometrist for retesting or remake the lens.
It was also interesting to see the same ambitious overzealous employees who 1 week ago were trying as hard as the Devil to take you for all that you had, now looked at you with blank vacant stares as if you had a plague or they were some species of misplaced zombies from whom all form of helpfulness and chit-chat had been evacuated. That is one hell of a $1200.00 CASH mistake I made. These companies are predatory sharks who would unscrupulously sink their teeth into your ignorance and bite the biggest chunk of your hard-earned finances as they possible can. And they use people like yourselves who are willing to do whatever it takes in order to keep their jobs to do their dirty work. I guess I had a choice to say no but these polite employees make it hard for you to embarrass yourself and them. Public, beware (!!!) of such alleged deals. They will suck your life blood and hard-earned cash like vampires, leaving you fatally and financially wounded while they live extravagantly off you.

I took my reading glasses to the store (Plaza Las Americas) at the end of May. I could not follow on this because I was hospitalized for 21 days. I called and they told me that it was ready. Not true, I saw the same broken glasses that I had left there one month early. Many excuses.

The anti-glare film was peeling off my lens. I called them and they told me to come in and they would fix it for free. I came in and there was no tech to fix it. I was told I had two options - remove it or replace - but there was no tech right now, so to come back. I called the next day to ask if there was a tech and if they could explain those options to me. I was told I'd be called back in a half hour. An hour later, I called them. She told me she hadn't gotten to it and would call me back later. Never happened. So the next day, I went in to talk to them and complain. They apologized and said they would handle it. They told me the new lenses would be another $100 something and that I should really get a second pair for problems like this; that he would give me a discount for all the problems.
So I accepted and decided to brush off the first problem. Then I got to the office to get my new glasses. They are good. They told me it will be an hour to fit my new lens to my old frame. So an hour and forty minutes later, I returned. I waited for about ten minutes as two of the employees were free and just kept ignoring me - peeking up to see if I was still staring, then darting their eyes away. Finally, ten minutes later, somebody else came over. After she's done with her customer, she helped me - only to find out they are not done yet. We told them my brother would get them because we had things to do and he was working in the mall.
Upon him getting home with the glasses, they were the wrong ones (right lens, wrong frame). They either mixed them up or broke them and tried to replace them. Very unhappy. Going back now to get my frame.

I visited the Cohen Optical store in Lake Grove. During the first visit I was prescribed glasses, which I was told I needed to wear all the time. When it came time to purchase frames, the sales representative only showed me the expensive pairs - nothing below $300. I bought them since apparently I didn't have any other options. When I went to pick them up, the prescribed lens didn't work. A different doctor did the eye test for a second time and told me that I didn't need to wear glasses all the time, and changed my prescription. I decided to change the frames since I didn't want to invest money into something that I needed to wear while watching television. The sales representative this time decides to show the cheaper pairs (which I wasn't shown the first time). In addition, now they tell me that I can't pick up frames covered by my insurance (which are free for me). The customer service doesn't respond to my emails. This is very disappointing and I feel cheated.

A week before my husband's appointment, I called Cohen's to verify if they are an in-network provider of VSP. The woman over the phone confirmed that they are, twice. My husband came home and told me he was charged a little over $150 for plain single lenses and frames. He couldn't get anything special on his lenses since we set a budget for our out of pocket expense. We have great coverage through our insurance, so I called Cohen's for a breakdown of what my husband paid for. They said our insurance only gave discount. I printed out my benefits so I can show the woman there that we do have coverage. Come to find out they were an out of network provider.
When I asked to cancel my husband's order, they said it was too late because the order was put in which I think was a load of crap. This was partly my husband's fault for not questioning the charges, but the associate there should have told my husband that they in fact did not accept our insurance and give my husband an option to continue on with the order. For the same amount we paid for out of pocket, we could've gone to another optical store that accepted our insurance and got everything my husband wanted on his lenses. I have a feeling they're going to screw us over again by sending us a bill for the exam.

I gave Cohen's Fashion Optical (539 8th Ave., NY) a $250 deposit for 2 pairs of glasses that were supposed to be ready in 20 minutes. When I returned 1 hour later, I was told that they did not have the lenses but they would be ready tomorrow. Well, the glasses would not be "ready" for another 12 days. I'm sorry, but a deposit should work both ways. I needed the glasses in the specified time that I was told, not 2 weeks later. I had the deposit removed from my credit card so that I could purchase glasses from a neighborhood vendor.
Now, they disputed the reversal of charges telling my CC company that I am not entitled to a store credit. Okay, so I have no choice but to accept that, but why I can't receive an official store credit enabling me to go to any Cohen's I don't understand. Instead, I'm supposed to go back and work with the same people that I am in a dispute with. I don't trust them, and after all, these are my eyes we are talking about. I placed a call to customer service, but after reading some reviews, I am not very hopeful.

I would give zero stars if possible. My girlfriend was lied to her face when she went in to have two sets of lenses replaced. She was told it would cost roughly $250 for each set of lenses (no frames!) because her astigmatism worsened. When she questioned the price, she was told "it is because the doctor said this is what you need for your astigmatism." So of course she paid, believing it was all medically needed.
After discussing this, we called and asked for a breakdown of the charges, only to find out that they had charged her for all of the cosmetic add-ons. Nothing was needed medically for her astigmatism. Nobody offered her any options; simply told her she needed this prescription as per the doctor. Now they will not refund her money because it was signed for. They completely scammed her and provided no list of what was even paid for. We will be taking them to small claims court if customer service does not rectify this for us.

When I went to purchase a Maui Jim sunglasses, I have purchased the one in the case which was supposed to be sent out to get prescription lenses and returned to me the originals. When I went to pick up the glasses (which came in much sooner than expected), I was told the original lenses were not ordered. I was stunned, especially since I put a non-refundable deposit and had no choice but to pay for the order. I was disappointed that Cohen's Fashion Optical in Wayne, NJ did not honor the agreement.
I later contacted management in the store and was given the runaround. Exhausted from attempting to explain the email correspondence show management neglected the facts and even denying the case they gave me is not available in a different size. Maui Jim was notified of this issue and sent me the proper size case. Maui Jim also verified the order was not sent with the glasses from the case. Cohen's Fashion Optical in Wayne, NJ had ordered the glasses with prescription lenses and not sent in the pair I picked out. This is why the lenses were not returned to me and why the order arrived more quickly. The evidence and conduct of this matter clearly shows a breach and failure to honor an agreement.
Furthermore, after filing a complaint with the BBB, the outcome was once again to use symatec to cover up the fact that Cohen's Fashion Optical used to cover up the fact that I was misinformed as agreed to the original lenses would not be returned, because the store ordered the glasses without sending the one I have picked out and agreed to have sent for lenses installation and to return the original lenses to me.

I purchased glasses from a Cohen's Optical on 5th Avenue and 35th Street, and before I could pick up the merchandise, I had to go overseas on business. When I returned, the store was closed. I contacted the corporate office with the receipt of the merchandise and asked what they could do. They refused to do anything and told me to contact the franchise department. I contacted the franchise department, and they refused to do anything and told me too bad, it has been too long. I provided the necessary documentation, and even then, they refused to either credit me or give me a comparable pair of glasses. This is fraud, and this company should be investigated for not providing the merchandise they take money for.

Horrible service at the store in Lawrenceville, NJ. The people who run it are unfriendly and act like they don't give a damn. I was trying to get attention to look at a couple of glasses. But the babes behind the counter were busy chit-chatting away about their weekend plans. One "salesperson" was so scantily clad that her cleavage was hanging out of her top! This is a sales representative? She looked more like a fugitive from a bawdy house. I walked out in disgust and went downstairs to LensCrafters where they seemed a bit more helpful. My advice: stay away. Cohen's is obviously making so much money that they just don't care.

After they sent it back to fix, it came back after a month and the prescription was not good. Here we are at the 3rd month, today is 05/11/12 and they aren't ready. On Friday, April 13th 2012 at 8:10 p.m., I went to Cohen’s Fashion Optical and purchased glasses. As soon as the order went through, my wife walked into the store and argued with me because she thought the order was incorrectly processed and I was being charged too much. We told the salesperson we no longer wanted the order. She would not stop it because the order had already gone through and they could not stop it. I would have to speak to the manager. The manager was not there at the time. They told me to call Saturday morning for her.
I called the store at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Saturday and they told me to call back at 10 a.m. The woman was yelling at me saying that they were not yet open. All these phone calls are recorded on my cellular. I called back at approximately 10:05 a.m. and the saleswoman was arguing with me I could not cancel the order because it went through already. The manager again was not in. In the meantime, the day before she told me the manager would be there around 10 a.m.
I called another Cohen’s Optical on Hylan Blvd. (718-979-2220) and spoke to their manager. She told me that she had nothing to do with the store in the mall. They told me to call the main manager at **. I called and left a message and nobody has gotten back to me. I called back to the Cohen’s in the mall asking for the manager and they told me she would be there after 12 p.m. In the meantime, the woman who took the order down told me that the glasses are over $650.00 and my insurance would pay $375.00, in addition to my $374.00. It was a custom order and could not be stopped.
I called my bank Chase and they told me that they can’t dispute the amount because the charges didn’t go through yet. I drove to Chase Bank on Richmond Ave. in the Staten Island Mall. I spoke to ** at approximately 11:44 a.m. on April 14th 2012. He brought my account up on the computer and told me he can’t dispute it until charges hit my account. After the money is withdrawn from my account, he can then dispute it and money will go back to my account within 24 hours.
I went back to Cohen’s at approximately 12:18 p.m., the manager still was not there. I went back after 1 p.m. and still no manager. I wasted most of my entire day disputing the order. I finally spoke to the manager at approximately 2 p.m. and she told me that the glasses were finished already. She said that I lost my $200.00 down payment. I spoke to my insurance carrier and they told me there was no way they would pay $375.00 for glasses for me. I am entitled to one pair of glasses every year for approximately $150.00.
Cohen’s Optical overcharged me and tried to force the order on me. I think, legally speaking, that I have the right to withdraw from a contract within 24 hours. These people didn’t even give me 45 minutes because I went there at 8:10 p.m. and I went back at approximately 8:45 p.m. I can buy similar glasses from another store for $150.00 including my insurance. I think I am entitled to a full refund. I forgot to mention all these phone call times are recorded inside my cellular.
In the meantime, the woman from the day before told me it would take a week to 10 days for the glasses to be ready. How is it possible for the glasses to be ready in less than 14 hours when you tell a client 7 to 10 days? I hope my above testimony will help for disputing the charges.

On October 29, 2010, I paid $550.00 for a pair of eyeglasses. I believe it took a couple of weeks to get them. So let’s say I have them since the middle of November 2010. Around March 2, 2012, I noticed that there was a crack in the glass by the edge of the frame.
On March 9, 2012, I went back to the store and spoke to Glenn. I told him I was very disappointed that the lens was cracked. I have owned tons of glasses in my life time and still have glasses that are at least 10 years old and not once did the lenses crack. They get scratches but never cracks. He said that the warranty was only for a year. So this was about 4 months passed the warranty period. He told me that the frames were bent and said he could fix them but could not do anything about the crack in the lens.
When I got home I realized that when he fooled around with my frame. He actually made the crack a lot bigger and the other lens is starting to crack as well. I have not worn the glasses since he touched them. I would like a full refund because I feel that there is a defect in the glass.

Now we are being harassed by the credit card company they utilized for about $850 for something we don't have. We have disputed this with the Credit Care (the company they use for credit) and with the main office. I went to Cohen's Fashion Optical to purchase two sets of eyeglasses, one for my wife and another for my self on March 11, 2010. I made a downpayment of $275 and $250 on each set of eyeglasses. I was informed that the glasses would be ready in 7 days and that I would be contacted upon their arrival. On March 20, I called Cohen's and inquired about the status of the glasses. Since my wife and I were leaving town and we felt like we were being misled by Cohen's, I informed the manager I wanted to cancel both orders.
The manager informed that Cohen's has a no cancellation policy. I was informed that my eyeglasses were ready for pickup and that I would be informed when the other arrives. I called Chase credit card to stop payment, who credited my account. I later went to another eyeglass store and purchased eyeglasses for my spouse and I.
At that point, I found out that Cohen's billed me for eyeglass service that was covered by my insurance. Three weeks later, Chase re-billed me for the charges, stating Cohen's would not refund the money. I was contacted on April 7 that the second set of eyeglasses was ready, and I informed them I requested the order cancelled.
I went to Cohen's two weeks later to debate the charge, but I only receive a store credit for eyeglasses I never received. As of today, I have a store credit for a total of $525 to purchase eyeglasses for Cohen's that I don't need. Currently, I live on a tight budget, where my income has decreased over the last six months; and my spouse works in an industry (Real Estate Sales) that is not doing so well.
