I post employer positions to this website and find it very easy/user friendly. They also do basic posting for free and offer a paid posting if you want super visibility. They get postings on their website quickly. When 'looking' for jobs they need to improve, as the key search words and city should be more intuitive (i.e., when you put in 'secretary' you should get ALL clerical type postings).

Indeed is indeed extremely greedy and unprofessional. They have harassed me about 2 years, every time I try to post a job for any intern. They are desperate for money. Use Craigslist. I have a lot of responsibilities and my own company and don't need Indeed telling me I am banned for placing a ad for an intern.

I have 5 degrees in 5 different areas and so I need diversified searches. The varieties of potential jobs in a area or field is excellent when using indeed. This site is truly a scam, yes SCAM. You post a job for your company, and the only way you can review resumes is one - the applicant applies, or two you have to pay a minimum of $100/per month to review resumes? And you are only allowed 30 LOL??? Are you kidding me?? That is a true scam and I will never endorse their business practices at Indeed. Additionally, they allow people that don't even match the criteria of the posted job to apply, even with the key search words in place. It is definitely not worth the no matter what. "Stay Away!"

Hi Steven, thank you for reaching out. To explain, when your job is posted on Indeed it's available for anyone to apply for. We are currently testing features to help deter unqualified candidates from applying. As for resumes, our Resume Database is a separate feature from our job posts. I am a retired school teacher, but since retiring in 2011, I have looked for part-time jobs just to add a little extra income to my teacher retirement (which just barely covers my bills and leaves nothing for anything else.) I have found three different jobs through Indeed. I found a job at a discount store, an assistant teacher's job, and a job at an eye care center. All were half-day jobs with average incomes that filled the gap I was looking for. The discount store was a seasonal job at Christmas, but the other two were long term jobs that I kept for a few years each. Indeed gives you a very good description of the jobs and makes it easy to apply. I found that I can completely trust the reliability of Indeed.

Indeed is a really efficient website for finding a job locally. There’s search filters to help find a job in a certain area, if it’s part-time or full-time, and even specific types of jobs. Once the criteria is in place, job-seekers can search through recent and older job listings. Many of the listings are able to be responded to, and response is sent directly to the employer.

Indeed finds the majority of jobs I am looking for, but it is annoying when you see the same job repeated several times in the same search. If you have ever taken an Indeed assessment you will be familiar with what I am talking about. The format of the questions takes some getting used to and (unless you are lucky) you will do poorly on this timed, stressful, poorly constructed selection tool. About half way through the test you will become familiar with the way the questions are presented. In my case, at this point I breezed through the rest of the test... but too late! The overall results were poor with no opportunity to retake. I consider this a process fraught with error and an extremely poor predictor of success in any position.

Despite finding Indeed to be superior in terms of the quantity of job listings, I never did find employment from using it. I believe that was due to my looking for a part-time position and my not having sufficient technological skills. For example, I had worked as a medical assistant/receptionist for nearly eight years (that was my last job) and I assumed I'd be able to find a similar position easily. Wrong! The doctor I worked for refused to use electronic records so I had no skills in that area. Most every other medical practice required someone familiar with medical record keeping and that seemed to make me automatically unsuited. Indeed now makes you take these tests that are completely irrelevant to the job you're applying for and purposely degrades your chances of getting a job offer. I think the test improperly weeds out excellent candidates and makes it really unfair for people especially when the person is more than qualified for the position.

Hi Matthew, thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. We designed Indeed Assessments to help employers quickly find candidates with the skills they need. With it, employers can send skills tests to candidates and then see how candidates perform in relation to others that have taken the same assessment. This is especially true with assessments dealing with people, relationships, interpersonal, sales, etc., that lacks situational context from some poorly worded questions and answers. And even worse, after completing the test you aren't allowed to view the questions you got "wrong."

Hi Travis, thank you for reaching out and sharing this feedback with us. We will be sure to pass it over to our Assessments Team. In addition, as a security precaution, we do not allow anyone (including employers) to see answers to any of our assessments. The score for each assessment will be good for 6 months. The assessments are hysterical. I have not only owned and been very successful in one of the most difficult businesses to succeed (full service restaurant), but have had consulting businesses that have also been wildly successful. Along comes Indeed (and some assessments thought of by pencil pushers) and they feel in order for you to be "qualified", an 8 minute assessment will determine if your resume gets viewed. Lol...never mind the irrefutable tangible documented track record of success I have, an 8 minute assessment (if poorly scored on) will now stop an employer from seeing your resume and hard concrete proof of your successes...you've been screened out. I know Indeed will say they are not part of the hiring process, but you ARE! Your company determined and implemented these assessments for an employer to use in MAKING A DECISION, before they have even seen your resume! PATHETIC!

Hi Austin, thank you for following up on your review. Indeed is not directly involved in the hiring process. It is 100% up to the employer to select the assessment of their choosing. Recently I had the most disturbing experience with Indeed. I have had an account with indeed for quite some time.. It was time for me to start searching for jobs again so when I updated my resume I put my email address but I also notice they had one box for an employer contact email address which in which I put a different email address. Well I wanted to go and change the employer contact address to match my email address I had on my resume.... That when thing went "haywire". I noticed when I tried to edit it, it would not let me so I tried to reach out to indeed via email.. They gave me instruction but these instructions did not work.
I ended up calling indeed and speaking with a staff member and described to her in great detail what was going on and she ended up disabling my whole account.. I stated to her that the email address that was on my resume I just wanted to put that email address on my employer contact. But to no avail, I was not successful. I also noticed that earlier on in my job search that that put a "bogus" email address in place of my employer contact email.. I ask the indeed employee why did they do this. She responded, "This was just for security purposes..." So I reached out to a couple of friends who had indeed account and they verified to me that they did not have such g names in place of their email addresses. So I wrote a email to indeed via their contact support page and expressed my concern, however I received no response. I called indeed back (mind you this was my only way to get in touch to speak with a live person).
On this call she proceeded to say that she had no contact with the people that handle the job seekers accounts, my whole thing was - **for ALL of my personal information that I have trusted these people with as it relates to job hunting and my potential job searches do they hire these people in the United States or is it outside of the US? but she could not tell me anything.
** Another thing is that I started to noticed that indeed would send my bogus job positions.. I went on their website and seen a job for a customer service agent for a airline company, so instead of applying through indeed, I went on the company website and when I looked on this website there was no such position listed for this paticular area. I did this several times because I had to make sure that the time in which they sent these positions out on their website was no more than at least 24 hrs. before I went on the company website.
** Another disturbing experience, I needed to make sure that my findings were as true to detail as I could get them... And so far my previous experiences just threw more "red flags" up. So I went and applied for a position through indeed. I realized I had heard nothing from them, So I decided to give them a call to follow up. I reached the HR department and spoke with a lady and she confirmed the receipt of my application via indeed however she paused and said that all they had from indeed was just my resume no name, no contact number, no nothing. This is why no one called or I had not received a reply from them. She went on to say, she thought it was most strange because this had never happened before as I agreed because in setting up your account (resume) certain information is "required" to complete setup (resume).
I reached back out to indeed, and spoke with Haley and she confirmed everything, and even though she apologized she still could not put me in touch with the person who was handling my resume.. I received an email from an indeed employee, who deem himself as my "job seeking specialist"... Mind you I did not give my consent to this particular person to personally handle my resume or job opportunities. So nothing was done. I even asked Haley to have someone a supervisor from the job seeker department to give me a call, however she could not even do that because she claimed she all she could do was just note my concerns.
Conclusion: PLEASE be very careful when applying with these job websites..my gramma had a saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Sometime the best way is the old school way. Do your research and if in doubt, "GET OUT!". Just apply through the company website. But also I have started to write and share my experience with more people and reached out to my representative to hold these companies responsible. When looking for a job every minute counts. At this point, I would not recommend indeed to anyone, and watch out for any one who is claiming to be from indeed claiming to be your job seeker assistant. I am still waiting for a response from indeed. I have not received any yet.

There's good on this site to a point. Too often, the format changes: the few filters/info. is down the side or across the top where I can't change things without having to go back a page. There's an X but it will not clear. A few times across the top there were little boxes that provided some "advanced" search (e.g. this computer appl. was needed or phys. req. in lbs.) but this is not standard.
There's much time wasted on repeated listings, even within similar subjects (What). Things need to be further narrowed down. If you are disabled you can't look for suitable jobs if you have to sit or cannot lift much. It will lead you to jobs caring FOR the disabled. I gave up trying to explain these issues to customer service. You may get a good one; you may not. A good CSR and speak and read well. You discover that in their response, even voice IF you can get thru by phone (any company). Finally, many listings are inadequate, omitting details like hours, duty, pay. Others are crowded with words. So I have to give them a 3 for now. No use getting frustrated. Other job sites may be equally challenging to some extent. No matter what experience I state is required I constantly have "baby sitters" applying for my kitchen manager position as well as many people who don't even live in Canada applying for the position. The ones that do apply with a name I can read tend to not show up for interview. Really starting to question how many of the resumes are real and how many are created by Indeed. Oh, did I mention they charge me money for these resumes from people who don't even have Canadian citizenship and are applying from Africa. This site is suck a fraudulent scam from what I can tell. 1 out of 100 might actually be a person in the country that shows up. Moving onto Zip Recruiter. Heard positive things about them and all the stuff I hear about Indeed matches my experiences. Except for those review that were clearly written by Indeed.

Indeed does not allow employees to post about their negative experiences with their current or former employers. They say that you cannot post, no matter how truthful, any illegal or immoral behaviors of companies on Indeed. You can post positive stuff all day long, but never a detailed negative review, no matter how spot on the review happens to be.
Indeed gives a false impression to job seekers because of this, and larger companies, with big budgets can have a glossy front, but sometimes, that is all it is, a glossy front. Sometimes these companies are truly really horrible to work for, and sometimes they engage and encourage illegal practices to boot. Why shouldn't an employee be able to describe harassment based on sex, gender, race, etc? It happens, especially in larger than life companies. Doesn't the public and job seekers have the right to know what really goes on behind those glossy fronts?

First, they create a NEW company page every time you list a job. Then, if someone posts a review about working at your company, you can't respond to the review (I tried and even Indeed customer service couldn't figure out why I was unable to respond to a review about our company). They allow literally ANYONE to post a review about supposedly working for a company with little to no accountability to determine whether the person actually works there or ever did. So, basically, Indeed allows someone to slander a company, say they are a current employee, and not permit the employer to respond to a negative review, even if it is from ANYONE (like the competition) regardless of whether they work for you or not. VERY shameful "business" practices.
As an employer with 30 years of experience hiring people, building a business, running organizations, and learning about best practices, Indeed has A LOT to learn! Their customer service department is LOST in knowing how to help people. I would love to have been able to respond to the person who claimed to work for us. So VERY unprofessional and unethical!

I am the Business Development Manager for a national health-care platform and have been using Indeed since 2017 to post jobs / hire for our partner companies. I am not a recruiter. Recently Indeed sent me an email saying that my account has been deemed "unsuitable" for their platform and they are shutting it down. No explanation, no way to find out why...nothing. In today's business environment I find this type of behavior unacceptable and would warn any direct employer to think twice before posting their jobs on Indeed. I did call their customer service and spoke with a live person who told me that she cannot give me any explanation, according to their policy. I did get a refund for the fees incurred for my last posting BUT was not able to access any of the candidate info. This type of practice is the reason I will never recommend Indeed as a hiring platform. Employers STAY AWAY!

I used to love this website but in the last month or so, whatever changes they have made, to make it look like Kijiji, has completely altered their system. I cannot download a simple resume as a PDF onto my desktop. I have to send a link, save it as a file, send it to my email and then when I open it, there is nothing there. When I upload my resume, it replaces my existing resume but puts everything in the wrong places so I spend hours fixing it only to review my resume and it is a simple, ugly looking thing that looks like it was made from a high schooler.
I am so angry at the hours spent yesterday and hours. Spent applying for jobs and I’ve had 3 employers tell me they couldn’t open the file I sent, didn’t want to open the link because they were being warned from their internal systems that they had to leave the system, or they didn’t get a PDF version that allowed them to just open a PDF as an attachment! What the???? Seriously these are people's careers you are messing with, you would think you would make sure all glitches are worked out before putting our reputations on the line! I am applying to high end jobs and I can’t even attach a resume? This is what they are probably thinking so thank you for allowing me to lose many job opportunities! : Time to find a new job site that allows me to keep my resume as is, save it as a PDF to my own desktop and use it when needed!

We set the budget for our job ad at $25 per day and acknowledged that the amount charged could be different, based on Indeed's statement "actual daily spend may vary". However, we were NOT expecting to be charged $180 in 7 days of a live posting. Our company contacted Indeed's customer service, who then clarified that the daily average we spent would have been readjusted to around $25, had we kept the ad live for 30 days. This was NOT made clear at the time when we set our job budget. Their billing system is not transparent, and is designed to make a quick buck out of you. So far so good, but since the number of applicants started to increase we had to disable to email notification. Guess what? There is no such a feature offered in our profile. That's not all. Every application you receive comes from a unique email address "e.g **" instead of a single email, so you can't get rid of the email by just reporting it spam in your gmail. It will keep coming. We had no choice but to close the account. So we went ahead to our dashboard and looked for it. Again, no such a thing exist. We had to contact their support to manually close our account and go through bunch of verification process like our time does not matter at all. Overall, horrible experience. As a company we've had 42 positions listed on Indeed in the past few years. We paused all postings because we did not have any openings earlier this year. Somehow one posting was "left open" and not paused and was charged at a rate of $500 a month (for a position that didn't exist). Once my admin caught the charges I contacted our sales rep who did some research on the posting.
He stated that it had just been left open but he could see no activity from us on the posting. Unfortunately he said that couldn't refund even one month of the posting and we have no way to prove it was "paused" because the data belongs to Indeed. That obviously left a bad taste with us and we then attempted to remove our credit card information from their site and delete our account... Impossible! There is no link to "delete account" and a search on the site does not come up with a suggestion. Furthermore, it won't let you take your credit card out without replacing it with another. Our fear now is that the account will be "un-paused" again mysteriously and the burden of proof will be on us.

Indeed has a very easy to use job board for both employers and employees alike. Unfortunately the costs are more than what anyone would want to pay. We spent over $500 in a month and out of 54 candidates, one showed up for their interview. The pricing system works in several ways. You can either budget yourself per day or per month. We set our budget at $20/day (which was recommended) for this ad and only ran it for two weeks because the bill was suddenly over $500. We stopped using indeed because we couldn't be spending $500/month for nothing.
The math clearly didn't add up. It turns out indeed actually charges based on the traffic of applicants. We did receive 54 applicants, but the cost was then calculated per applicant and not set by our budget of $20/day. The indeed support provided no feedback on this only stating that "this is how our system works." We couldn't be wasting all this money for nothing.
We reached out to CareerBuilder and ZipRecruiter who provided much more competitive rates at $350/month and they allowed us to post up to 3 jobs with access to their resume database. We've already hired 2 individuals in the last week thanks to them and we have a couple more openings. It's $700/month, but we've already seen great results in that little amount of time. Indeed's business model is not competitive nor available for small companies that need to budget their costs. Consider all options before signing up with them.

Seems on the surface like a good site...easy to navigate (for the most part) and relatively easy to post a job listing. However, then you discover the "catch." In order to get your posting to show up in search results you have to "bid" to get placement. The "recommended daily spend" from the CSR I spoke to for my part-time job in a small, rural, market posting was $20 per day. Even at that rate you can still get out-bid by larger companies with bigger budgets. Seems pointless to pay to post a job that no one ever gets to see. Of course that also means that if you're seeking employment, you may never find the perfect job if the prospective employer isn't bidding enough to get high in the search results. Indeed's answer to this problem? Spend more money. No thanks. I'll stick with other sites whose search results are based on keywords and relevance, not how much I'll allow myself to be fleeced.

TBH we don't know if those we contacted were actually real potentials or just Indeed employees. Contacted Indeed with the suggestion that they modify their model requiring both the employer AND the potential employee to put in a CC #. Then they could allow the potential employee to see the body of the job posting -- meaning the job type and minimum requirements for the position -- and if they feel they qualify for the position they can click on it, revealing the full company and contact info, etc.
If the employer reviews their info and determine they do not meet the minimum requirements they simply click a "did not meet minimums" button and the potential employee gets charged, NOT the employer. However, if the employer does want to interview/interact with the potential, then they click an "accepted" button, the employer's CC gets charged, and they are allowed to see the contact info and full name. Applicants BEWARE of Scams by Fake Employers. My company does not post job listings on Indeed.com so I was shocked to receive several phone calls & emails today from "applicants". They wanted to verify that I was the one asking for their personal information. Apparently, anyone can open an "employer" account under a real business name and in many cases, they are NOT required by indeed.com to offer proof that they are indeed that business. In my case, someone fraudulently posted a fake job listing and then contacted applicants saying they were from my HR Department. They told the applicants that we needed to run a credit check and background check and that we needed all of their personal information to do that. Luckily, some of the applicants were smart enough to be suspicious and contacted me first. I told them NOT to provide any information because I haven't posted any job listing and it must be a scam.
I spoke with indeed.com and asked why they're not requiring "employers" to provide some type of simple proof of who they are prior to letting them post a job listing. They indicated they usually ask for company name, email, address and phone number. Of course, any criminal can get all of that off a website. They said they "may" ask for further documentation if anything seems suspicious but it may take a few weeks or months. By then many applicants may have already fallen victim to identity theft.
Applicants BEWARE! You should verify that you're talking to the "real" company since indeed.com has likely not done that for you. By the way, the employees at indeed.com were friendly and understood my frustration with their lack of vetting. They said they'll pass along my concerns but I'm not holding my breath that their practices will change... So just look out for yourself and verify that the person contacting you is really who they say they are. Best of luck in your job search!

A few weeks pass and the same ad is reposted only now the compensation has jumped from $15hr to $38K annually ($19hr). I tried to contact the company by email no reply then by phone and they simply say to check the website for job openings. When I press and just ask if they are concerned someone could be posting fake ads using their business they say no it hasn't been a problem. I am the first person to call and bring it to their attention. At least 15 jobs I applied for over 30 days ago are reposted now with the exact description and bump in pay.
Also, large corporations have ads for jobs like a pharmacist in a grocery store. The thing is this chain has 1 location in the city and has no in-store pharmacy. If you click on the ad it directs you to the Corporation's website but it then doesn't show that position after you search by city and position that was on Indeed.com. It also states they sell your info, and if you don't like it don't create an account.
After reading the Indeed.com terms it says because it's a free service. You can't hold them responsible for the content, you should conduct a search or background check on anything posted on their site, they do not check that anyone or company is real. Yet when you read the employer's side of the terms you find they get charged per click on the ad, they pay for clicks if you advertise on outside websites.

Indeed is a useful job search tool – that said, ONLY if you perform a few minutes of critical due diligence before applying. Beware. The site is a jungle of scammers. From experience: No legitimate company will ask you to interview through Google Hangouts. It is a known scam. If after posting your resume and profile you receive: “You’re the perfect candidate for this new opportunity” –type emails from ______@gmail.com, trash it. No legitimate company will use a gmail address. Scam.
The easiest way to avoid a scam and a waste of your valuable time and energy — vet the company/job poster thoroughly! — visit LinkedIn – make sure a company page exists with real employees. Review the employee profiles. It doesn’t take long to recognize legitimate from fake. A real company will have a link to their website. Review the site. Cross-reference and further confirm the company through a Google search. If it’s an individual, perform multiple people searches – you’d be surprised what you can find without paying for a full background report. Be smart. Trust nothing online until you’ve done your research and analysis.

They told us our posting 'wasn't suitable' -- BUT -- if we paid them to sponsor it-- THEN it would magically become suitable to post. If the free option doesn't really exist, don't waste our time and pretend it does. You've deprived a potential job seeker an opportunity for a good part-time job.

Indeed is a great platform to use to search for jobs. It's easy to use, easy to filter, and easy to apply for positions. I've gotten real interviews and real jobs for it over the past few years. The issue I have is with the scammers on this site; it seems rampant lately! I do my due diligence when applying through job boards: checking spelling and grammar in ads, look for things that seem too good to be true, and making sure the business name is listed in the ad, and then Googling it to make sure it's legitimate.
I'm in Chicago, and quite a few scammers are using legitimate businesses as a cover. I know this, because when I apply for a job, they email me back saying to send my resume to A GMAIL account. Sorry, no law firm's HR department, or any professional business' HR dept, is using a Gmail account. I've had this happen a few times. Indeed needs to start verifying business owners/employers, and maybe raise the price to post a job advertisement. The scammers are a waste of space on the site, and I don't feel comfortable giving my email and phone number to people who aren't using it for the purpose I intend.

When jobs start coming they are not conducive to my skills or even close to the resume. Finally, get a valid job worth applying for and there are two problems. 1) need to have a skills test which doesn't match the needs of the job and 2) the plain text resume is so messed up and wrong (not what I entered & corrected at all) that it looks like I am the worst candidate ever.

Indeed.com invites with many claims for being the best jobs website but their platform is merely a data collecting entity with very little valuable and actual jobs offerings. The setting is so construed that it ignores basic qualifications and sponsors instead a few companies like uber drivers and factory jobs that have nothing to do with the resume you provide as a base. When trying to “unsubscribe” from their many emails it links to a page that has no settings to stop their spamming of emails. Void them! I’ve even send letters to request them from stopping to email me jobs that sound like “you can make $1000 working from home..." Pure scam!

I find this process frustrating and unprofessional. I have gotten two interviews through Indeed. The problem is, there is no reality between the hourly rate shown on the site and what the employer was willing to pay. In both cases, I asked for the $18 hourly rate Indeed showed as maximum. Since I have an MBA and 20 years office experience, I thought this was reasonable. Both companies told me their rates were $12-14 per hour. Don’t waste my time. Also, there should be a way to contact the interviewer directly on the date of the meeting. Although I was on time for my interviews, traffic issues can cause delays and it would be convenient and professional to have contact numbers between the two parties.

My fiance has been looking for work for months now. He had decided, based on what is recommended online, to skip Craigslist this time and use Indeed, Glassdoor and ZipRecruiter. All I have to say is that applying to averagely 10 jobs a week for 6 months has landed him 2 phone interviews and 2 in person interviews. 4 from 100s of applications. He visited the unemployment office to try and help and they said his experience and resume were great, he was well spoken and they really were not sure why he wasn't having luck finding work.
So we started paying more attention and realized a pattern. Companies posting positions for 2 weeks were getting about 100 applicants then the job would close. Suddenly the next week the same company would post again. Very weird, they really haven't been able to fill the position? At the same time spam robo calls and emails have substantially increased on his phone and email. A lot of these are scams too, claims his credit card is stolen or he owes money for something etc. We are convinced a large portion of these job postings are fake and really it's companies collecting info to sell to other companies for marketing or even scams.
We finally switched back to Craigslist these last few weeks and the job board for the unemployment office and he has gotten 2 interviews lined up automatically. Craigslist has scams too but I feel it is more obvious and easier to avoid than whatever weird stuff is going on with Indeed. My thought is that maybe 20% of the jobs on Indeed are legit and because of that it can be a huge time waste.

I work for a staffing company, and for the last year+. Indeed was working perfectly, no complaints, 5 stars. However, all of a sudden I find one day that my account has been disabled, all my posts suspended, and absolutely no explanation as to why. I called several times and each person told me something different. From what I gathered, Indeed decided a few months ago that it no longer allows recruiters and staffing companies to post for free and they would be FORCED to pay to post anything. Yet they advertise themselves as free so they're lying. They even have an option on free accounts to post jobs in multiple locations, yet they suspend you for doing so unless you pay, which is clearly deception.
I never received an update about this policy change, never received a warning, I found out in the rudest way possible. On top of that, from the other reviews I've read and from other people who HAVE paid to post, Indeed lies about how much the cost would be. Apparently getting grossly overcharged is very common where you might think you're paying $5/day but you could get charged as much as $50 or $100. Because of Indeed I now have to find a new job since most of my income relied on them. I really hope someone starts a class action lawsuit against this terrible company, they can't get away with treating people like this. It's disgusting. They just threw excuses around that, "Has no one ever contacted you to describe details," blah blah. I said no that I know there's nothing wrong with the posting. Then they switch it up and say, "It's because you only get one free posting and after that it has to be paid." Then I said, "I'm not interested that I only get bad candidates." Then they said, "It's because it's not paid," blah blah, "you will only get better candidates if you pay." Sure all lies. It's the same type of candidates just come up in the top of all the postings.

I contacted to appeal and spoke with Carina who told me that they needed more information about my business legal documents. HUH!!? I have been posting on Indeed for the last 3 years, so course I have those. I was told that within 24-48 hours, I would hear back from the Search Team. Never heard back so I called and then got an email that they made the decision to keep my account deactivated WITHOUT LOOKING AT MY LEGAL DOCUMENTS.
Okay, I appeal again and am now talking with Matt. He says that it may be the job description (much like the other's that I have posted over the last 3 years) and that he would look into my status. I get an email from Matt stating a lie the my job posted on Indeed asks for a fee. HUH!!!? I post jobs both on my website and on jobsites, but never the same ones on both. Our website has a position in the same department that is an affiliate marketing position that has a fee much like Avon etc. and the job on Indeed is a commission based sales position with NO FEES. AGAIN: THE POSITION ON INDEED IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT!! I call to appeal again and this time since I am wearing a 30-day Holter Monitor for my heart, I am not going to continue the emotional stress and physical stress that this experience with Indeed deactivating my account, has presented.
A few things to mention: Many of my job responses were from people who gave the same information/email responses. I hired a few people!! AND NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM!! Yes! There were fake job ad responders to my ads on Indeed!!! I was always happy to post there until I noticed this and wondered what was going on. My advice to any business: Post on your own website, or a few other reputable HR Hiring SaaS. The excuses Indeed gave me were the same as the ones that other's (posted below and on the BBB) were given: Random account deactivation, asking for documents, then making up their own excuse as to what they wanted to close the account for next.
I had the legal documents and they never accepted them, and my job posting on my website is different from the Indeed job as stated in the Indeed position, and I never claimed physical nexus in the locations that I posted in (yet another excuse). They wanted an excuse to close my account. Why? I was not a paying user! ;) If you own and operate a business AND are trying to focus on maintaining your health, go with a different company. Your business is about serving and providing jobs for others, if Indeed wants to waste time, don't let it be yours anymore.

Indeed charges employers to post jobs. I established a $75 budget per job, and was informed that we would pay $0.25 per click until our $75 was used up. That amount should cover 300 "clicks", which, even at 50% should net us 150 applicants. Wrong. We have been cut off because our $75 budget was used up after six days that included the long weekend, and very few of these applications are worth a second look as they don't meet the basic criteria that were set. These are not entry-level positions. These were specialized positions paying $25 per hour and higher. This is the last time I will use Indeed (and we posted three different jobs at $75 each!) and if anybody asks, I will discourage them from using Indeed.

I've been fooling around with Indeed.com for a year and a half by now, and I have so far concluded that they may actually be successfully placing people somewhere, but IMO it must be in a narrow field and it seems obvious by all their advertising they are targeting mainly employers so they can charge them for a "subscriptions". As others have said, Indeed sends out a regular stream of 'jobs' based on my information, and most of them are repeats (sometimes from a month earlier) and only about 1 out of 10 is actually relevant.
In the last few months I have been receiving 'personal' emails from someone named 'Bonnie' with a job referral based directly on my unique resumé and experience. Really? I have deep experience as a Project Mgr. and Designer in the field of Architectural Graphics. Here are just a few of the "Manager" jobs they have been sending me: Front of House Floor Mgr. at a chain restaurant. Office Mgr. for a Free Clinic. Mgr./Supervisor for a Roofing company. Mgr. of Inflight Base Ops at United Airlines. etc.
This is a seriously stupid algorithm, about the same as everyone else's. However I DO write down the name of a related company every now and then, because I actually do consulting work and always looking for new clients. Again as others have said, try to approach the actual employer whether online or some other direct way if you have serious skills, and Good Luck. (Just be thankful Indeed et al don't charge US.)

I have been working in graphic design for nearly a decade, I have studied the elements of design and taken college courses. The test I received was BADLY written and gave too little time to understand the question it was asking let alone answer it. How my business is not meeting guidelines is beyond me. Maybe because I'm not a paying customer. If you want me to pay, be honest, don't just disable my company without at least calling me to see what the deal is.

I asked then how can she enter dollar amount and not end date as we discussed she never said I had to enter end date. If you are looking for a job, and you are like me you are looking for something very specific. I am looking for a nice research job that requires a Ph.D., and a long list of requisites. The community I work in is quite small, and I don't know everyone so I still have to search for a job. No matter what, you will get subscribed. They will hammer you with "new jobs" in the area you looked. They will hammer you with emails about "similar jobs" and then they will hammer you with emails "are you ready to apply" to a job you saved, sometimes less than one hour previously. Each and every time I unsubscribe. There are jobs that aren't clear what they are, and I take a cursory look at them. Pretty soon I get reminders to apply, and search results for "Other jobs like this job you viewed".
All of this just clutters my inbox and is detrimental to a serious job search. I have a job lined up now that I found on my own, and I had one interview and 4 accepted (being reviewed) applications from Indeed. I started using Indeed because a friend who got a Ph.D. job through indeed, so it's not useless, just really difficult to use when random information is force fed to you sometimes hourly. Unrelated job leads, nonstop unrelated and reminder emails. It makes it very tedious. Indeed has sent me leads for Walmart, Dunkin' Donuts, and substitute teacher in the wrong city. PH.D. in a very specific field... I am not going to work at Dunkin' Donuts!! Been down that road before, in high school. Need a big boy job now.

We used Indeed to post a job with our company. We were immediately sold "up" to sponsored ads. We were being charged a fee for every applicant who submitted their resume to us. Based on their algorithms, we were being charged an average of $18 per applicant. Even though we requested the applicants have certain required experience/qualities, this was not the case. We received over 70 resumes but only one of those applicants had the required experience. It seems since the applicants have no skin in the game (they pay no fees), they "shotgun" their resumes to numerous employers with little regards to whether they are actually qualified. As a result, the employers pay a lot of money for unqualified applicants.
Given the amount of money we spent with no valued results, we were then informed it generally costs more than $4000 on average to secure a new employee. We are a business of less than 10 people. If this is actually true, this expectation should have been communicated. Given the poor quality of candidates we received, we would have been better off utilizing another platform like Craigslist which does not charge you based on applicant submissions. Our experience with Indeed was unsuccessful and very costly and not a positive experience for us.

Hello. After being contacted by another scammer from Indeed, I have notified Indeed of the bad reviews and scammers they are letting on this site. I’m fed up with being harassed by these crazy humans who are needing help with their own lives. I don’t understand how you can sit and scam someone but you can’t sit and perfect your resume to get a real job/career.
Anywho, if I do not hear from someone at Indeed I will be starting a lawsuit. So whoever wants to start putting some action towards these fake profiles and scammers, let me know. This company should have a team monitoring this website, but it’s very clear they don’t. You can’t find the “contact page” without googling it, which is another problem within itself. Like the company knows they have a huge problem that they’re drowning in, but seems to think it’s convenient to “hide” the way you’re supposed to contact them. So, to everyone who has been contacted by scammers, hopefully our days of unrest will be justified. I’ll keep you posted. Charlotte, NC 2019.

Indeed.com your service is a just a front end for collecting personal information. Your ads are placed at the top of page and people think those are jobs, but they aren't. Just places that collect and sell personal information. This site and your business is a total scam and should be shut down. I am going to report my findings to the Washington State AG. Research some of the companies and see if those companies even have job openings. I did that because I was getting no responses from any companies and when I checked out some of the companies they were just fronts with a website, no job openings at all. If there were links to apply, the URLs went to another company, which after reading Glassdoor.com reviews, where just data collectors.
It really is the perfect way to get your personal information and sell that information to marketing agencies, collection agencies, government agencies and anyone that wants to know everything about you. Your name, where you work, where you worked, where you live, phone, history. No wonder they keep sending you emails about jobs... It costs them virtually nothing and what they get from you is more valuable than you could imagine. Do, not submit your resume to them. If you find a job on their site, call the company and send your resume to the company directly (only after doing a lot of research on the company). Don't be a voluntary victim, do research and then report what you find so that it can help others. Evil thrives where good people do nothing.

I am writing this review of my experience in the hopes that it serves to save someone from the headaches (multiple that I have had with Indeed). First, the site is full of fake jobs that lead to you serving up your cell number to a bunch of scam calls and telemarketers. One job posting even sent me to a generic form site that wanted me to send them a photo of my license and then prove my social security number! PLEASE NEVER DO THIS!
The second biggest issue I have is with the poorly made site and its comically screwball problems. Any time I update my info, it changes other things so that my profile became so wrecked, I finally closed my account lest it cost me a dream job down the road. Most recently, I added my own resume. Well, because I once worked for an auction site, it it listed that as job title, removing that I was a certified website designer and freelance writer. It has also removed work experience and portions of my education at times. Perhaps your experience differs from mine, but I would be remiss if I didn't share my thoughts on Indeed.com with you!

We never gave them permission to get involved in our search! Since they've done this, they inadvertently distributed our site contact info to scammers and I have received countless calls, emails, and messages through the website from these scammers. In less than 24 hours, I received an influx of 100+ resumes. One person's resume listed over 10 banks and 10 tech companies. Why are they applying to my entry level roles?! I call the number because I'm curious and it is a deadline. I look up this person's name on LinkedIn and filter based on his "extensive" work history, and this person does not exist. Yes! I think Indeed should check more to what employers they are putting up on their website. I was almost got scammed by this person saying I was hired to work from home. A woman sent me an email saying my resume was approved and I need to contact them through Google Hangout for the interview. I then had this interview where I thought I was hired; where she then told me all the benefits I would be receiving and my hour rate. ($25) and the next step was to talk with a training supervisor. They both told me that I would receive a check to buy supplies and materials.
The Guy that was the training supervisor said my work tasks will be mailed out weekly. I then have to message him at 8 am the next day to get the next step of my training; where he gave me a tracking number for a check and told me to contact him when it arrives. Then maybe a couple of hours later, I hear a knock on the door and it's FedEx dropping off a check for $ 3988.00.
I then contact him ready to get the next steps because at this time I thinking I'm about to start working and making money for this big company. I was instructed to do a ATM deposit to my bank account because it will post faster because it will take longer if a teller did it. (Days) so I thinking ok cool, but still feeling something wasn't right. I deposit the check and I let him know, he started to send proof of the deposit slip for his supervisors saying the money was deposit. And they want me to send record of everything that needs to be purchase for the supplies and materials to track the spending, but at this time I didn't tell him the bank called saying the check was fraudulent and if it went through I could have been responsible down the line.
The bank employee ask where did I get it from, I stated Heartland payment centers because that's who they told me they worked for. She looked up the company and that check had no dealing with that company and said that, "Someone is trying to trick you to give them some money back." I told her, "They said it was for material and supplies" and she said, "Have they ask for anything back?" and told her, "Not yet;" just gone play the role with them and contact her back on Monday since it was on a Friday to stop someone else from getting scammed. BEWARE.

Their job matching algorithm is unrealistic, it’s like, "Hey based on your 6 month customer service experience we think you would be great at this job 'primary dentist at [popular dental clinic]' or 'senior executive at [big name insurance agency]'," basically jobs I would never apply to because there is no way I would ever qualify. Also I have binges where I will apply to 10-15 suitable jobs a day for a week straight and I would be lucky if I received an update on 1-2 jobs about the status of my application.
75% of the jobs are just listings posted there with a link to the company site but when you are aggressively job searching the last thing you want to do is spend countless hours resubmitting the same basic information on different employer sites, it’s kind of redundant to spend 6+ hours on only 2 different applications putting basically the same info about my work and education history on both just to find out 4 weeks later that you don’t qualify. Indeed is suppose to be a one stop shop for applying to multiple agencies as they always advertise however that’s not the case most of the time. My recommendation for that would be to force employers to first screen potential employees through Indeed so I know if it’s even worth going through the exhausting process of applying through the company site.

We would call and leave messages, email, and no response. Out of approximately 15 applications submitted could only get a hold of two to three people. Of those two people only one would show up for an interview. Most of the people on there are submitting applications so they can satisfy Unemployment requirements. It's very easy to submit a quick application on Indeed.
We were duped out of approximately $600 per month for over 6 months. During that time we only hired one to two people from Indeed. Absolute and complete total sham. I have also been told our resumes do not parse in format. So they just get a run on of words and they have to try and figure them out. I have applied to well over 100 jobs in my current search and not one call. Hard to believe not one company hiring or being told thanks but no thanks. Never hear from anyone. As other have posted here they do not have upfront pricing. You post a job as an employer and put a dollar cap that they can charge, from there you will start seeing applicants but then it starts to slow down with the applicants. I was billed $250 for the past 3 months and had a total of 3 applicants so I asked thru their chat to explain what I was being billed for as their invoices show no details.
They base it off of clicks to your posting, which you cannot prove in any way. Also I found out today that the listing that I am running that I first posted in 2014 was still posting as if it was from 2014 so applicants see it as an old post and don't reply, this ad was placed for mechanics, we are always looking for mechanics so I paused and restarted the ad as needed and did not know they had a post date shown to applicants. I feel I have been robbed $750 for the past 3 month for them posting the ad as if it was 5 years old, not to mention the past 4 years I have been activating it and thinking it was a fresh ad because I am paying for it!!!

After my first job application came through, Indeed then emailed me to say my advert can no longer be free, is no longer live, and has to be paid for, with no reason other than 'certain types' of adverts need payments. Annoyed by this, I decided to give it a go but keep the cost low, at £7 budget per day. Indeed calls the daily amount you set an "average" daily budget, as their way to make you spend whatever you like.
Approx 2 hours after I signed up with my card and set my £7 budget, I had one more applicant and Indeed emailed me to let me know they had charged me over 200% of my daily budget. Staff claim they don't auto-apply for candidates and it's not possible that their system was hacked. I've changed my password, included 2-step verification, it's not a shared computer, and no one has access to it, yet I still receive daily emails from Indeed confirming that my application and resume have been sent to employers for jobs I'm clueless about. Some of the jobs I'm not even qualified for, either through experience or because the job is requesting a bilingual candidate -- which I'm not.
Some jobs I'm either over-qualified for or significantly underqualified for, in both instances I would never apply to those jobs and waste the time of recruiters and hiring professionals. Then of course I receive rejection emails directly from the companies or from an Indeed auto-bot that says the company has moved on in the hiring process and I wasn't considered. This is happening on a daily basis and on days when I'm not even logged into Indeed. It appears that their system is auto-applying for jobs based on my job searches, job interests, and the types of jobs that show in my application history. Or their system has been hacked and a person or bot is doing these things.
Either Indeed isn't being honest about the auto-application process or they aren't being honest about being hacked. Because if I had a customer explain to me this exact situation and they have clearly taken the proper security steps to protect their account before and after the issue surfaced, I would assume the problem was on our (the company's) side and I would escalate the complaint to a person or team who could better address things for possible resolution. But that's not what happened in my case. Instead, after a few emails from me explaining how I secured my side of this "relationship" and that my concerns were leading me in the direction of canceling my account, the Indeed rep could only offer me steps on how to cancel my account.
So are they trained to do this? Is it easier to lose a customer than to resolve the technical issue? I've had two accounts with Indeed, because their system kept telling me that it didn't recognize the log-in details of my first account whenever I attempted to apply for a job, yet I was able to log into the account. Now with this second account either being hacked by a 3rd party or manipulated by Indeed, I've opted to leave Indeed and invest my time into a more reputable and conscientious company. I truly hope that they either resolve the problem or promote this auto-apply feature and fix the algorithms so that the application process is smoother. If not, they will lose a lot of customers on both sides, applicants and job providers.

I am an employer who used Indeed a couple of months ago. The pool of applicants on the platform is a crapshoot. Out of 40+ applicants, only a handful were qualified. We closed the job posting on Indeed, because it was not worth our time. A couple of days ago, I noticed someone had copied and pasted job openings in our name. I found out that Indeed is aggregating jobs from our company website and pulling them over onto Indeed. Their system scans public websites and scrapes those jobs onto Indeed. As employers, we were not notified that this was happening, nor was there a request for authorization to post anything on our behalf. It wasn't until I filed a complaint that this was explained. I seriously thought we were being hacked. I would avoid their services. I do not recommend this company.

I had posted an ad in Indeed for vacancies in my organization. I put in a monthly budget according to my budget. I started getting extremely bad responses. Then I got a call from the team from an extremely rude guy who said that to get better candidates I should increase my budget around 8-10 times otherwise there will be no match. On hearing that is not my budget and other places are cheaper he became extremely rude and told me to remove the ad. I will never use this website again.

I have 26 years of executive sales and marketing experience, I have been a field trainer and district sales manager. I also have applied for 1020 jobs. That's right. One thousand and 20 jobs and no luck or job offer, Indeed sends the sale letter saying that I didn't meet their requirements of sales and need experience. Go figure!!!

I like to think most job postings on the Indeed.Com site are legit, but sadly they are not. I understand some companies are hesitant about supplying the name of their company to stop people from just randomly showing up dropping off resumes, but if you contact them through their Indeed.com site asking for more info and get ignored, more than likely it's a scam. It's good to know the job statistics and salary of your geographical area you are applying in. If a job seems too good to be true, do your homework first. Some fake ads too are using the names of real companies to lure you in, figuring you won't research any further and you'll innocently send your resume believing the ad to be real. Again DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

I had an employer account with Indeed for 3 YEARS. Posting the exact same insurance sales jobs for the exact same areas where we have offices in... and no problems for 3 years... UNTIL, I post another round of ads November 2018, and then one day later get a notification that my account has been disabled and I can write in to appeal the decision. No call, no warning, nothing but their automated "your account has been disabled" email. So, I call my sale rep I've had for 3 years there, and nice guy... but he tells me he has no power and just to submit the form and see what "they" say. So I submit the form and thoughtfully explain our ads and our account, and how they are the same jobs they have been posting for 3 years now. They message back 2 minutes later, saying the account is disabled again and that I need to call in.
So I call in, and I only get a customer service rep who (after going to her supervisor) also says there's nothing they can do. The reason: They don't allow sales jobs where the training is not paid and/or where sales reps buy leads!! So, essentially, it looks like they are phasing out 1099 commission sales jobs. AND losing money in the process. So, we have been spending thousands with ZipRecruiter now (who by the way, actually let you TALK to someone in charge and try to understand your side).
Indeed was good (and we spent a LOT of money with them)... but that's all gone because of some messed up decision that leaves more sales rep candidates searching on other platforms... and more employers spending their money elsewhere. Terrible customer service for a client that has faithfully been with you with NO problems for 3 entire years!! If you are an employer who is looking to hire 1099 commission sales reps... Don't even waste your time with Indeed.

I’m dumping Indeed for one single reason: they cannot seem to keep up with inactive or expired listings. I realize some of that is the hiring company’s responsibility, but here’s what has happened to me on many, many occasions. Based on timing, it can have nothing to do with the hiring company. Short story? Indeed recommends a job, I like the look of the position, and that very same day, I spend 4 hours on my resume and application, and I hit the “apply” button. Within 10 minutes of my application, I get a “Job has expired” notification from Indeed. It is a HUGE waste of time I don’t have applying to defunct positions, which makes me really grumpy. Indeed, I’m moving on to a more effective app. Thanks anyway.

Sales forgets you are the customer and they exist to serve you. Plenty of rules the customer has to follow, but Indeed is slow to respond to issues. Resume database is absolutely not worth the money. They think it is a sales' sole function is to get you to buy "featured" jobs, when they've already scraped your job from your website.

I have a seasonal Restaurant in the Hamptons. I reluctantly agreed to give this a try. The vast majority of applicants were from areas over 100 miles away from Eastern Long Island. A total waste of time and money. Thousands of dollars spent with almost 0 hires. (Maybe one or two). I also made it clear that all advertising would end by the end of June only to find out that my credit card had been charged through October. That was made crystal clear to “Dylan”. He either chose to disregard my request or it simply fell through the cracks.
I didn’t catch the error until recently since 100’s of charges go through my credit cards. I followed up about a month ago and told Dylan in view of my error missing the charges in July and August, (our busiest months) I would compromise and pay for July. He never submitted my complaint to the higher ups, and after I called back, I was told he was no longer in that area. Beware this company has no integrity and has horrible customer service. My guess is that they have millennials running the company who have no idea how to run an establishment and own up to errors, correct them and build on solid business relationships. It’s called “doing the right thing”.
