Indeed has poor customer service, total lack of concern to actually try and address an issue. Up until a week ago I could go onto their site and filter jobs by industry. No longer. What had been taking me 15-20 minutes now takes multiple hours. You spend countless time having to manually sort through hundreds to at times thousands of non-relevant posting trying to find the ones that I had been able to pull up in seconds. Reached out to customer service and the ** just keeps telling me that it's not their issue, that filtering by industry is dictated by individual companies. What a crock of bull**. Customer Service at Indeed is just a bunch of incompetent ** just drawing a paycheck for no real work.

Hi, Danny! Our Product Teams at Indeed are always working to improve our Job Seekers' experience. The specific filter you are speaking about, "Industry" has been removed as a test. The "Industry" filter can now be searched for using the 'what' and the 'where' boxes (e.g. 'medical content writer,' 'technology content writer,' etc.). We are not sure if this specific filter will return. Your feedback about the filter and its usefulness has been passed along to the correct teams!

So many fake postings. It's impossible to get a job on this website these days. Out of 200 applications I submitted (I have a good work history), I'd only heard back from ten; most of which I was overqualified for. Of those ten I'd only been offered 3 interviews. Would never recommend this website.

I have a company in Vermont and created an employer account on Indeed sometime last month. It was somehow connected to 17 reviews, all from Texas, Illinois, Minnesota and one from New York with dates ranging from 2019 to 2024. It's very simple to Google the name of the company in these states and find out that they also have companies with the same name. These reviews are obviously not about my business in Vermont, they are about the businesses in the states that they live in. I spoke with someone over the phone for quite a while, trying to rectify the situation. I had her send me an email covering our conversation as well as a request to have the reviews deleted or just not attached to my company.
I got another email asking for any added information that I had, so I added all of my information. I got an email back saying, "It appears that your request may require specialized attention and our Client Success team can better assist you. Please view our Help Center for further assistance with this issue." So they're just done helping me now? They want me to search through their company website (again), figure out who I should talk to (again), go through all of these issues (again) with yet another person, instead of just forwarding my information to the correct person within their company to help me. This is all so unethical and horrible management for their customers. This shouldn't be a difficult issue. I'm sure there are better sites to advertise job openings. I'm honestly shocked and appalled at how this has been treated and dismissed.

Hi Debra, to explain, our search engine will always show results based on relevance. If a job title has very limited availability in a location, our search engine will automatically show other jobs beyond your initial search query.
To get the most relevant results, we recommend using a Boolean search.

I have had the most difficult time paying an invoice. Back in March 2025 they removed my job posting due to some technicalities and when I got an email to pay my invoice I couldn't even access my account to pay it. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I spoke to an agent on chat they were able to somehow enable the ability for me to update billing and pay. Well, lo and behold I have used multiple different cards to make payment and each time it tells me my card is declined. Lol I spoke to a lady today after I was told to call and they would help. Well that's not what happened. She wanted to submit another ticket. Lol I have more tickets opened on Indeed to try to give them my money.
At this point they can send it to collections for all I care. I even asked if I could make a payment by check and all they could tell me was the best option is to provide my banking details. Lol What?? They wanted me to contact my bank and credit card companies to see why they were not allowing indeed's charges to go through. I don't think so. I input at least 4 cards. Lol This is on indeed and not me. Worst experience ever!!!

In my experience using Indeed, I have found that it implies that employers have created the job postings you are looking at. However, their job listings are scraped off of other websites, they have AI constantly searching through internal job boards (for example jimmyjohns.com) So when JJ's posts a job listing it gets automatically pulled over to indeed. I don't understand how these companies are supposed to know that they have to check indeed for resumes rather than their own internal job boards. So, here is the real kick: For some reason, the information is not completely transferred over, it appears to leave out strings that match "Apply Within" or "In Person Applications Only". Those very important notes will be removed from the original posting by indeed, whether purposefully or otherwise, I do not know. I highly recommend using indeed to search, but not to apply.

Yet another 1-star review... The invoice practice are DECEITFUL. The first partial month, I received an invoice. There was mention that if you did nothing, your credit card would be charged ... only an address to remit a check to. So I sent them a check. Two days later, my credit card was charged. I sent an email, waited a week for the request to trickle down to accounting and then waited two weeks for the refund to be posted to my card. THEN, the second month... for 6 days, (although I think it was either 4 or 5) I was charged "an average of $44", which should come to $264, except I was charged $296. I called them. The agent and his supervisor were condescending, explaining that some days were more, some days less, and an average is somewhere in between (I have a doctorate degree...). And simply deflected my questions on how the math came. So... this is my only recourse. And never plan to use them again.

I just experienced the crappiest 'interview' on Indeed for a job with the same project mgmt title as I have now - only to realize it was actually for a warehouse fulfillment job! The tech mgr conducting it was taking notes the whole time, but also never made an effort to look at me on camera or make any sense of connection. He abruptly cut me off at minute 13 of a 15 minute interview. I asked if I could ask questions to only be told only if they/HR deemed me a fit (for the bait and switch job). When you apply to them - With having all the qualifications on the job posting, but when you apply through Indeed, you get an instant rejection, but the job is never filled even after 6 months. Although, we you don't go through Indeed and apply directly to the employer's website, you get an interview and the Employer said "We never got to review your resume, if we did we would have never rejected your application!" It's Indeed's ATS system that rejects you most of the time, even for a simple gap in employment date, or 1st time employment seekers, etc.

I guarantee I won't get a response from them, but here goes. I used to like Indeed for their reliability and quality of jobs, until recently. Like the last 3 years. They use absolutely NOTHING but bots, now. No one reads your resume, no one calls or messages you back when applying. And when they do, IF they do, it's a turndown. Now, my resume is more than worthy of a simple reply. But, why would I, when it's bots reading it? Bots looking for "keywords" and if they don't find those words, then you might as well not exist.
Indeed's quality of reliable jobs is absolutely non-existent, now. It's sad and disappointing. Because what is the point of having your site running if you're not listing any companies that are ACTUALLY looking at our resumes. Actually, calling or contacting you back. So, yeah. Indeed is about as worthy as an old coupon from 1987: Pointless. Do yourselves a favor, and find another place to find jobs. That employ HUMANS and not bots. They're a whole system of clowns behind Indeed, now. Smh.

The problem with this practice is that it will make indeed and the other companies that get these reviews look bad. Indeed you are a complete JOKE!!! I've been using Indeed since I got out of high school. It's been ok for the most part. A few things that are noticed on Indeed from my POV are the amount of dumb questions Indeed ask you for your whole profile page. Indeed has started to just suck overall. It's started for me in May of 2024. Indeed needs to fix a lot of stuff. Job listings that are 50/50 meaning half are real half are fake. Another is employers posting these listings and when you apply for a job they take 2-3 weeks to even get back with you. I've had TONS of employers just not get back with me.
Personally I think if you are an employer you should get that listing notification via email and have to reply within that week or your listing gets taken down automatically. The employers also say, "Please value our time" but they don't value potential candidate's time. It's a 2 way street. If you aren't going to value my time I'm not going to value yours. Another thing that should be listed in applications doing a 2 step interview process should have to LIST that they have a 2 step interview process. I've had this happen so many times where I get through both of the interviews just for them to say NO.
Reporting a job listing to Indeed is a JOKE. They don't even take it down if you know it's fake or too good to be true. I've created another PFP for a test experiment to see if it's me having issues but no. In fact every online forum I read is all about how Indeed is just a joke like their "Partner" Glassdoor. My brother and close friends and other people I know are having this same issue. I've used Indeed since I was out of HS and now it's complete trash. Someone needs to shut these guys down for good. As this company is a scam.

Indeed is supposed to be a site where employees and former employees can review their experience working for an employer among other things. I wrote an honest account of my time working for Clean Harbors Environmental Services. My comments centered on the negative consequences of the blatant nepotism within the company structure. I wrote a professional commentary that was free from profanity and yet my review was removed without given me a reason why or even informing me of the removal. Indeed essentially replaced my review with a 5 star company review with the title “great job,” with a comment “featured review: Clean Harbors has selected this as a representative review.”
If indeed is allowing the companies that are being reviewed to have input on what reviews appear on the top of the search results, then I think the forum is worthless. Censoring negative comments about companies and promoting positive ones tells me all I need to know. Don’t waste your time with indeed. Their reviews are clearly not representative of the facts.

I tried purchasing the "Resume Review" multiple times and it doesn't seem like to work when I have been charged multiple times for $50 CAD each time that I tried by pressing "Confirm Payment" multiple times on April 16th, 2024. On the day of 9th of May, 2024 I sent a screenshot of proof of purchase more than once after being asked too and then when they asked for a bank statement I was waiting for my bank to send me a PDF of the proof of purchase of the Resume Review to send it to Indeed but then people in Indeed were not patient at all that they closed the case/request. I was patient for at least 3 days for each email that I send and wait for them to email me back, this is embarrassing for me that I have to go back and forth to the bank and the fact the staffs in the bank were arguing with in thinking that I was wasting their time. So it's easy for Indeed to take my money but it isn't easy to give me the service that I paid for?

They then froze my account, used up my free trial for nothing and I just got an email saying they're about to charge my credit card anyways without even posting my ad. I didn't violate their guidelines at all. I just posted an ad looking for a laborer. Simple stuff.

They have non-transparent billing practices and they rip you off. You pay for a monthly subscription to post your job and then they charge you by the click. Not by the applicant, but every time someone clicks your ad. This results in hundreds of clicks and maybe a dozen applicants that don't even meet our minimum requirements. You used to be able to reject bad applicants within 3 days to avoid being charged, now they just charge you every time someone clicks your ad. Who is to say that they aren't having bots click it to drive up your price? I paid $120 for a monthly subscription and then 10 days later was charged $377 for clicks. And to make it worse, not a single person who clicked our ad apparently had the minimum skills required. Never posting with them again.

Based on customer feedback, Indeed decided to discontinue Pay Per Application pricing due to the complexity and extra work it created. You can learn more about our Pay Per Click model here: https://indeed.my.site.com/employerSupport1/s/article/115001043926?language=en_US

For job seekers/candidates, Indeed is a complete waste of time! And the main reasons (as there are many more) are as follows:
2. All messages come from bots.
3. Filtering out irrelevant jobs functionality does not work.
4. Status updates on job applications functionality does not work. Most ‘applied for’ jobs do not have ANY updates on where the applicant is in the process. Most do not even respond. And you are never are informed of ‘applied for jobs’ that are no longer valid.
5. The volume of applicants per job is too voluminous for any employer to sift through, and make a proper hiring decision.
It is a known/known by Human Resource experts that job post bulletin boards are the worst method for seeking employment. And since Indeed is the most popular job post board, that makes it the worst of the worst. We did a test of Indeed. We applied for 100 jobs that fit perfectly with our qualifications. And included jobs that we were overqualified for as well. Although we received bot responses on some. Not even one response came from the actual company’s HR department, or an actual person responsible for the hiring decision. And no message of any value ever indicated where we faired in the hiring process. Job seekers and candidates are well advised here to seek out more traditional methods for seeking employment. If job candidates and employers boycott these types of AI bot services, and return to more traditional Human Resource methods, the industry would actually become efficient; as it always had been in the past.

I am enraged by the sheer audacity of Indeed.com! They have shamelessly resorted to using bots instead of actual human beings to apply for job postings. This unethical practice undermines the entire purpose of a job-seeking platform by flooding employers with bots who apply to our job posts just so they can bill us. The candidates/bots never show up for interviews yet Indeed bills us. And let's talk about the few who actually show up for interviews - utterly unqualified! It's as if Indeed is playing a cruel joke on both employers and job seekers. Their deceptive practices lead to wasted time and false hopes for those genuinely seeking meaningful employment.
What's more infuriating is Indeed's habit of sneakily switching policies without bothering to notify its users. Charging fees after rejecting candidates within three days? That's a disgraceful money-grabbing tactic! It's despicable how they manipulate users and exploit their desperation for work. The lack of transparency and integrity displayed by Indeed.com is utterly appalling. Job hunting is already stressful enough without having to navigate through a platform that deceives, manipulates, and ultimately fails its users. I am writing this review to share my recent experience with Indeed, which has been both perplexing and frustrating. As the owner of PRG, a remote staffing agency, I attempted to set up an account with Indeed to post jobs and source applicants. However, the process hit a roadblock when Indeed paused our account, citing inability to verify our business.
Indeed's request for a utility bill posed a significant challenge, as PRG operates remotely and does not have a physical office with utilities. We were also asked for a business license, tax permits, or an industry-specific license, none of which are applicable to our staffing agency model. In an effort to comply, I provided our Articles of Organization, only to be informed that Indeed does not accept documents from the state of Arizona. I have reached out to Indeed through calls and chats, seeking assistance or alternative solutions, but to no avail. The lack of support and inflexibility in the verification process has been disheartening, especially considering the growing prevalence of remote businesses like ours.
I am sharing this experience to highlight the need for more adaptable verification processes that recognize and accommodate the diverse operational models of modern businesses. It's crucial for platforms like Indeed to evolve and offer support that aligns with the realities of today's business landscape. I hope this feedback prompts a reevaluation of Indeed's verification procedures and spurs improvements that will benefit other businesses facing similar challenges. PRG is a Veteran-Owned business and good enough for the United States government to validate us but apparently Indeed could care less about Veterans.

As a business owner seeking to utilize Indeed for recruiting, my experience has been overwhelmingly negative and unprofessional. After creating an employer account, I diligently submitted over ten documents, including essential insurance and state license information. Despite this, it took an excessively long three days to merely post a job listing. Further aggravating the situation, after investing $700 in promoting the roles to attract quality candidates, my account was abruptly blocked without explanation. This sudden action resulted in the loss of all my potential candidates and the cancellation of meticulously scheduled interviews.
The lack of a direct communication line or customer support adds to the frustration. There is no avenue to address grievances or seek clarification for the account suspension. This experience has not only caused significant disruption to my hiring process but also reflects poorly on Indeed's commitment to supporting employers. I am sharing this review in hopes of prompting a response from Indeed. It is vital for a platform of this stature to provide reliable services and effective communication channels for its users. My experience, unfortunately, has been far from satisfactory, leading to a substantial loss of time and resources.

Nobody rates Indeed more than 1 star because otherwise you cannot leave feedback. They don't have any contact information but they keep your resume and contact info. When I have decided to follow up my telephone interviews I found these individuals don't work for the companies they claimed are working. Indeed used to send e-mails requesting to complete "an assessments" so at first I could not figure out why my results were so poor. All my exams I have had in the past, tests have been completed with a score from 97 to 100, so I have scratched my head trying to understand what is going on.
I figured that we keep applying for fake jobs and our "tests" and resumes are needed to hire some underqualified individuals in some unknown places while Indeed is not a real company. They don't even have customer service, address/contact telephone/fax numbers. I guess they are hired to supposedly create jobs that TV reports as new jobs created by state while people cannot get hired in any position. Beware of this website and don't work for someone else who may get job with your resume and your experience. Check the company and see if they even have the job, than apply directly.

The day before my trial was to end, I got no emails whatsoever. So on the 3rd day, I went on the site trying to figure out how to cancel my trial. Apparently, there's no cancel, they assume you know how to end a trial yourself, by closing a job you had opened. I'm thinking, once the trial is over, I'd get some kind of message. I got nothing. Finally, I got a hold of someone, and they told me, I had to close my job I had posted, but no charges accrued, so I'm good. Today, I got an invoice, they took 61 dollars from my card. By the way, why do housekeepers need driver licenses? I have come to realize that the junk mail I receive daily is in connection somehow with this site. And Indeed, no I don't need your help building a resume. I created a beautiful one for myself using artificial intelligence and for free.

I am a seasoned professional with over 20 years experience in my field. I noticed through Indeed.com that I wasn't getting many interviews. I found out that by looking for work on Indeed that I actually am a cost to any prospective employer that I apply to on this website. This is an outrage. I'm looking for a job and if I have a price on my head I most likely will be overlooked. I believe that it should be disclosed to me what my cost to a prospective employer actually is. I won't be searching for too many jobs on this site anymore.

Was told it would take 24 to 48 hours to resolve after sending in proof of a utility bill which is an absolute joke. Then after it not being resolved in that time frame I called in to complain and was given the run around. After that I was charged over a $1000 in fees for I have no idea what since I could not even view the ads. I called and got that refunded to wake up today to a charge of $600 and of course being it's Saturday they are closed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND!!! I thought this would make hiring easier, sure we got a lot of applicants but the entire website is designed to get as much money from you as possible, got charged for people who rejected the invite to the job, and if you don't check every day you will quickly rack up a bill. the system deliberately sorts the candidates by new, so you don't see the candidates with low time they charge you for. I figured it out but not till I was charge for 5 people I had not even looked at. We will be using other platforms in the future, I suggest any business especially small business do the same.

I am hiring summer season student workers. Indeed vastly complicated what used to be a simple process. Summer workers want to pick up a few extra bucks before going back to school. Our company wants seasonal workers to do a little light assembly and delivery during our high season. We don't care, and the students don't care about "long term career categories", "manufacturing skills" or which "academic department" they are currently enrolled. But we have to spend hours online dealing with this hoohaw. Indeed overengineered what should be a very simple process. Thumbs down.

We have used Indeed for several years. We noticed that they kept changing benefits. Less access to matched candidates, increased cost per candidate, increased the cost for resume search, etc. On the other hand, we started to receive more unqualified candidates. They recently made the last move increasing the sponsor cost to $ 70 per day that you publish or $ 91 per candidate. This new pricing makes Indeed a limited option for employers at around $ 2100 per month in the starting line of a candidate search Time to use other platforms.

Frustrated! If Indeed wasn’t a well known site where people go to look for jobs I would not be fighting this so hard. I am a legitimate small business who connects people and businesses all across the United States. These companies depend on me to do the sifting through resumes and asking the hard questions before they get to their interviewer for the job. Indeed deemed me suitable for 2 months as a legitimate small business. I wake up 3 days in on my 3rd month after taking $120 out of my account to deem me not suitable for Indeed. Never refunded my money! I have been going back and forth with them sending my Liability Insurance, My business Bank Account, My EIN, My Business license, web page, and so much more!!!
Opened up the page that they said they couldn’t for 1 day and then shut it back down again. I can’t see my candidates….I can’t see my postings! Honestly this has been an exhausting experience with INDEED and don’t have the time to be on the phone with them for hours everyday with rude customer service people not understanding costing me money is costing you money. I miss the days where people would just go in person and ask if they were hiring and pick up an application, now they just tell us to apply on their website. All I get from Indeed are emails recommending me jobs that I’m way overqualified for.. if I were to apply to those jobs what would be the chance I’ll even get a reply back. The only positive side of Indeed is that it lets you make a very clean resume for free and you can download it onto your computer or cellphone and use it if you plan to apply for a job through a company’s main website and not through Indeed.

I posted ad at CraigsList and decided to give Indeed a try. Please be aware everyone: they do not inform you when you are posting that they will drain your account charging over a thousand for a week of worthless applicants. Their site is ridiculous and I'm not tech savvy. Took me a while to remove my post. When I was asked all these questions I had no idea what they charge: Why? Because it didn't say anywhere "by the way it's going to cost you". I filed fraud claim with my bank because Indeed has to state all the charges before even starting. That's how they make their money: they state how much they want you to have good experience but nothing about the outrageous charges. Only 5 or 6 people responded.
Second: I specified what I wanted, Third: every applicant lied about experience and one out of 6 came and didn't show up after 2 days. One guy wanted to bring his wife to work?!? Other wanted to bring his buddy because he said that apparently he will be uncomfortable working with people he doesn't know. I mean I never seen such an unqualified crowd. But that is understandable: people lie but charging $544.32 every other day?
We are not big company, we just started and I have a 2 year old. I can't throw away 500 every other day and I needed to have known that before I give my card info. I don't care if I have to hire a lawyer. I didn't agree to that and if I didn't then you don't go into my bank and take our hard earned money out. When you lie and cheat then you are not a good business. I'm really upset about this. I wish I read the reviews like I always do but dealing with Craigslist I didn't think that this was going to happen. If I have been informed about all these charges and how this site really works then I would have avoided it. When indeed advertises on tv, how about adding the fact that it's going to cost people an arm and a leg after which you might not even have any desired applicants. So be careful everyone. Better go to Craigslist or Facebook Market... Anywhere else but Indeed... Indeed!!!

As with many people who have experienced the same issue, Indeed says it will charge you $x per candidate, but then, they charge you if you make any kind of contact with a candidate - whether you contact them, or they contact you. And whether they even bother to respond to your initial contact. They also provide a platform where disgruntled ex-employees can ** about your company, but as an employer, I could not reply to those misleading and sometimes libelous comments. So, to sum up: they will rip you off, and then provide a platform for other people to libel you. And if you want customer service? LOL! They claim they will answer "within 24 hours." Not even a chance. ZERO customer service. This company does not deserve to exist, and it certainly doesn't deserve your or my money.

I have had great success with Indeed until I got charged close to $2500 for a posting I had up for 4 days. They were charging me $30 per application, and gave me 72 hours to reject the application or they would charge me - I also had to complete a survey for each candidate as to why I was rejecting them. I shut down the posting because we decided to hold off on hiring, but since I didn't reject the applications first I was charged. To do what they asked would have taken me hours. They later charged me $84 for a second posting I had up. I had one other posting up, but when I realized what was happening I immediately shut it down. Again, I was forced to do a survey for each candidate but I had to lie because I wasn't given an option of "I put the job on hold" or something like that.
As a general rule, why would I want to reject candidates out of hand without waiting for a few days to see what the pool of candidates looks like? Some rejections are easy, others not so much. As a small business owner I don't have time for that, and it's a bad way to hire someone. They don't even send you an itemized invoice unless you ask for it. I called and I got the invoices I was also given the names of 2 reps assigned to my account. I called one (the other's mailbox was full - inexcusable) and emailed them both - no response after 2 days. All of this stinks - random pricing, shady practices and no customer service. I have spent a lot of money with Indeed over the years - they won't see another penny from me.

As an employer seeking to hire, Indeed.com falls short by not allowing employers to review candidates. It is unbelievable how many candidates will either not answer their phone for scheduled phone interviews, or are a no call-no shows for an in person interview. This is frustrating and a huge waste of time and money. I have communicated these issues with Indeed employees multiple times, and they always say they are hearing these same issues with no-shows from employers all over. If that's the case, they need to take action to help minimize these issues. We have done everything we can to minimize these issues, such as reaching out to the candidate to confirm the interview 24 hours ahead of time.
A SIMPLE SOLUTION: ALLOW EMPLOYERS TO REVIEW CANDIDATES. Have a basic review system without getting into detail about the candidate. Questions such as: Did the candidate show up to the scheduled interview? If not, did they call to inform you they could not make it? Candidates need to be held accountable. If employers can see that a candidate was a 'no call-no show' for 5 interviews, I believe this would minimize this problem by holding candidates accountable. Companies are given reviews to help candidates. Candidates should be given reviews to help employers. Again, simple 'yes or no' questions pertaining to whether they show up for an interview. This is our third season trying to use Indeed to make a hire, and it gets worse every year. If we, as employers, cannot review candidates, this will be our last time using Indeed.

I have always been able to find jobs easily using the platform but since 2020, I don’t seem to be able to keep the jobs for longer than 8 months. Idk if it’s the jobs or what but something changed. Companies can’t remove reviews but some of them most definitely post fake high rated reviews to boost the company and bury reviews that might actually be useful, seems like since I started looking at the reviews the most relevant ones are always buried. I think these companies have decided they can just chew through people like they are nothing due to the ease of replacement thanks to companies like Indeed… which is good? Idk, but as you look for a job indeed will constantly request you review companies and then ask questions that aren’t relevant like it has the companies confused which makes the reviews even less able to be trusted.
I can’t get on the platform without being asked to review a company I haven’t worked at for 5 years and have already reviewed 3 times - even funnier, a lot of the reviews, questions and interview, salary etc.. I got to looking and they are denied so… honest answers and opinions that aren’t in line with what was wanted don’t go through they appear to be censoring, even a “what questions are asked on the interview” was denied, but those questions were asked and I took the time to comply with indeed's review request and it didn’t violate any rules. Waste of time, can’t trust it.
The industry I work in is I believe why the high turnover but indeed definitely makes money with the employers. It just didn’t used to be so obvious, reading the employer reviews on the subject I think it’s hard to trust them in general at this point. It's crazy but it’s almost incentivized for job seekers to not have long term jobs and for employers to find less than adequate candidates not sure how that is pulled off but my experience since 2020 says it is because until 2020 I held jobs no less than 5 years and I haven’t been able to keep one and it’s not me. The last one was really crazy but that’s what it is somehow crappy employers are being matched with good candidates and bad candidates with great employers…. Yep, busted.

I'm a co-founder of a startup company, and we used Indeed.com for Employers to hire employees. All worked well for the first 2 weeks until all of a sudden our account was blocked with no explanation. I've reached out to the support team and they advised me to appeal the decision. After 30 minutes, we received another email that was saying - "appeal rejected and no further action required from your end".
Our account got blocker and we lost access to all CVs. We didn't break any policies or rules. We had only two job posts at that moment. I thought that it was a mistake and decided to call the Customer Support team again. They ran me in circles nicely saying "Your account is blocked, and we can't do anything.". They were useless, didn't help, and had no desire to check my case.
I got very frustrated. I called again and escalated to the supervisor on the shift and spoke with Ashley ** (**). She advised me to reply to the "no-reply@indeed.com" email with supporting documents about my company, to prove that my company is legit. I've sent an email to no-reply@indeed.com & ** with following document:
- Federal Incorporation certificate- Ontario Incorporation certificate
- Invoice from my business insurance provider
- Certificate of Insurance
- License for Private College issued by Ministry of Education of Ontario
- Confirmation document from the Ministry of Education of Ontario
Ashley confirmed that she received the email with all my documents, and assured me that this email will trigger the case in their internal system, and it would be reviewed by the Trust and Safety team. She also confirmed that I should receive a response from the Indeed.com team within 3 business days - negative or positive. Ashley lied to me. It's been already 7 days, and my account is still locked. All she did was probably a nice way to say "** off, we don't need small businesses here."
I haven't seen the worst customer support ever!!! The company is a joke and discriminates against small businesses (who are not promoting job posts with paid ads on the Indeed.com platform). I'm planning to file a complaint with Trading Standards Authority and already contacted a lawyer to bring Indeed.com to court for such discrimination against small companies. Indeed made a sneaky change recently to where we started getting charged over $40 for each person applying instead of $25 a day which I have done for several years. So to my horror I got a bill for close to $2,000 on the company credit card when we usually run the ad for two weeks and get a bill for around $350 to $400 total and get a lot more people applying. I looked back to see if I missed something and sure enough they snuck in a change that made it look like you only have two choices, both charging $40 dollars per applicant with a tiny line below that says: "Prefer the old way with a link" Which I didn't see because it's out of the main view. This is designed to trick someone who isn't paying close attention and it's extremely unethical.
The owner of the company may fire me over this or pull the money out of my paychecks. He already screamed at me for the first bill over $500 and now two more have come in. I have lost sleep over this the past two days. I thought since I was just re-using an old ad we had on file I would be billed the same as last time. I hope someone can help me get this billing re-set to what it was in years passed at around $500 and refund $1500 so I don't get fired. So triple the cost and less people applying. We have always been happy with Indeed in the past. We post twice a year as each new season starts. I have already spent thousands with them over the years and hired many people through the service. Our Company, PopOnSmiles, LLC, helps thousands of customers from home improve their smiles with our brand Pop On Veneers. We started our business during the 2020 Covid shutdown and have been fortunate to grow quickly now reaching over 150 employees, many of which have come through Indeed. We are proud of the team we have built with honest and hard working employees.
About one month ago, Indeed, without any prior warning or flags on the account, closed our account. A message appeared in my inbox that claimed we had violated their terms of service. No specific details were noted. I was shocked. Firstly, we’ve been posting jobs on Indeed since 2020 without a single mention of a violation. We have recruited hundreds of employees and have spent over $50K on the platform. Secondly, they made it clear their decision would go into effect immediately, without any opportunity to access our account or download our existing job descriptions. Thirdly, there was no clear evidence to support their claim and no opportunity to follow up.
We asked them for any information about what we had violated. Certainly, if our staff had made a mistake, we are happy to learn from the error and take corrective action to ensure it does not recur. But we were not given any more information. We tried to appeal the decision and spoke to a higher level rep. The higher level rep was very attentive and concerned about the INJUSTICE of the situation, but said that unfortunately, her hands are tied. She said there is no formal way we can appeal their nonsensical arbitrary decision. She recognized the situation makes no sense, since there is no evidence of a violation.
She admitted that often companies are WRONGFULLY tagged in violation of terms and conditions by a machine bot and there is nothing she can do to override it. She offered to have a manager call me, but I received no follow up. It appears we are at the whim of Indeeds injustice. There is no appeal system in place and it appears this is a FINAL DECISION that can never be changed.
Pop On Veneer is forever banned from posting on Indeed because a machine bot wrongfully tagged the account as violating terms & conditions, and there is no appeal process in place. Are we at the mercy of a monopoly that doesn’t care to have a due process in place, and can arbitrarily shut down an account that has always been in good standing?
Employers, if you are actively building your team, be very cautious and careful about choosing Indeed as your platform to recruit. If this happens to us, it can easily happen to other companies. Indeed will continue to lose a lot of goodwill as companies continue to flock away because Indeed treats their customers so poorly. We have now turned to Zip Recruiter and found them to be excellent. They are very helpful and professional.

I have been on both sides of the hiring process with indeed acting as a middleman and I've found the service fairly useless. Whereas indeed cannot guarantee the quality of the candidates of applicants nor of the legitimacy of job vacancies, the fact that more people have not abandoned this service is puzzling. As a job seeker now they encourage you to take useless assessments that often are more hindering than helpful. They are an utter waste of time for both parties, ie candidates and employers. Candidates should refuse outright to participate in this new grift or contact the businesses directly as you often have to do even after all of the hoops the seeker has to jump through on Indeed.
As an employer, they entrap you with obfuscation to nickel and dime you as much as possible before presenting you with abysmally qualified candidates that I would suspect were solicited by their email program. Sadly, as the apparent gatekeeper to much hiring and employment, respectively, this is the corporate feudal oligarchical hell we currently have to deal with in a process that should be far, far simpler for both parties.

I have been using Indeed.com since maybe August of this year trying to find a good job. Entry level anything. I have applied for over 90 jobs and only got interviewed for 2 lol. I'm pretty sure its not the website, it could be the city that I'm in or just the companies, nevertheless it's just a very disappointing and discouraging experience overall.

Hi Sammy! Indeed does not screen candidates on behalf of employers so we cannot say why an individual employer may not respond to an application you submitted. We have been advertising for years with Indeed. We are a very small business that has been in need of hospitality workers. However, Indeed is not helpful when we reached out to them. We have received nothing but non qualified applicants. Most don't even reply to messages or come in for the scheduled interview. I received a phone call from a Bridget ** from indeed telling me that she was going to get us a credit of some sort to compensate for our loss spending hundreds of dollars a year and not getting the outcome of their services. I would never advertise with Indeed, I have left her several voice mails at ** her direct line and she has yet to return my call let alone a credit of some sort. As well as the emails that were sent.
We have scheduled so many interviews with no shows, applicants that live far from our employment, come in grossly dressed or poor hygiene not qualified for the position and most never make it past the interview. Those that do cannot get the proper license to perform the job. Criminal records that they lie about. But Indeed keeps sucking the well dry by not helping us find the proper employees. This is so unacceptable and I will let all our business associates know what we have personally experienced, Over priced and no return calls or emails to help us, Would never recommend this company. It’s nice that some jobs they have posted let you do a quick application. I know some companies will redirect you to their website to apply. My problem is that I get so few responses to the applications I put out. I’m fully qualified and have years of good experience, but employers generally don’t respond if you apply from this site. I’ve read reviews how employers don’t like the pay system Indeed has set up, so maybe their posts are left up when they don’t have intentions of following up with applicants. It’s very disappointing to spend so much time scouring for the right job and very rarely getting any response. Makes it feel like a scam.

We have been advertising our company’s job openings with Indeed for years. We have been having issues that constitute interference and failure to perform as advertised and promised by Indeed. For instance, we posted a job that was an office assistant position. A part of the service is to allow candidates to submit a one-way interview answers to our posted questions. Most candidates complained they did not get the link to participate in the interview from Indeed. We contacted Indeed and reported the problem but Indeed failed to correct the issue and we lost the candidates and had to close the position. Some candidates were upset that they could not Participate in the one-way interview.
We were told the issue was fixed, so we recreated the position listing on Indeed but a few days later and after spending significant money, we realized that Indeed has still not fixed the issue. So we paused the position and contacted Indeed again. The account manager said Indeed would provide us with the link so we can provide to the candidates. So, we unpaused the position. Indeed this time flagged our position and removed it from public view. Why? They say they do not like the title being “Office Assistant / Receptionist / Customer Service Representative”. This is a legitimate position and this is the position we are trying to fill. By the way, this is same title we used every time we had posted an opening for this position in the past. They had no answer to that.
Also, Indeed removed the one-way interview link from our posting completely. This is midway while the position is posted and we are interacting with candidates. The candidates are again not happy. Also, we discovered while auditing our account that somehow Indeed is charging us for the resume service subscription twice. We asked them how long has this been going on, they told us they did not know. We have contacted the CEO at his email address Chris Hyams but he never responded.
Indeed has wasted a lot of our money with its interferences with our honest legitimate job postings. We are unhappy and are considering filing a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and referring this to our legal counsel. We would like to be refunded the overcharges/double charges and refund us the money wasted on the job advertisement which went to waste because of their interference.

My assistant placed a job listing on this site. They do not make it clear that you are charged a huge amount!! We only used 2 of the resumes and those two didn’t even show up for an interview. We just got our credit card bill and it was almost 6000.00! We are a small company and that is more than our yearly budget for advertising. How can a company be so unfair!! Indeed is a cruel joke and utter waste of time. Indeed is incapable of even making a survey that accurately portrays a rating of their job postings. For instance, when asked by Indeed to tell them where the application process is at, the selections leave out an important one - where the potential employer asks for an interview, but, for the first time, the pay rate is revealed, and it is so low that I'd never consider them. Indeed's job listing feed is available to the highest bidder. Jobs that are NOT in my zip code/mileage range are continually listed, and misrepresented. One in particular is in NH but the feed lists the location as in my zip code. Shameful! If you're looking for work, go elsewhere. The 5 star ratings here are probably all from Indeed agents.

Part scam? Makes you wonder! The way it works is you post a job listing. The impression given is that it is free to post a job position opening and that if an applicant applies and you are interested click "interested", and you pay $30 which I find to be fair. Instead, the way it actually works, people submit resumes, and automatically for every Tom, Dick, and Harry that applies they charge you $30/each versus paying for the applicants you click interested in.
Business owner beware: People with absolutely no background in your very specific industry apply, you are charged. Interviews and requests are oddly no-shows and no responses, you are charged. If you are ok with spending over $400 on random applicants that do not meet your qualifications or do not fill out all the information you request from them to applicants you show interest in that do not respond to requests or become no-shows for interviews, leaving you with a total of 3 real interviews, then go for it!
As a business owner, this is very frustrating and makes you wonder if they employ or have bots to "apply" for job listings just so they can make their money. Think before you decide to post a job opening! I absolutely do not recommend Indeed! Look for other resources. I wish I would had looked at other peoples' reviews before giving them a try.

Billing practices are not disclosed sufficiently or accurately. To find an accurate description of the billing procedure you must navigate through several tabs and links buried in the pages which would not appear to have anything to do with billing. The option to "set limit" of applicants does not stop people from applying or you being billed for it. You are required to reject the overwhelming volume of unqualified applications within 48 hours or you will be billed without limit. Even after cancelling your job you are still billed for applications received but not rejected. I will not be utilizing this service in the future given the poor quality of applicants and vague and misleading information regarding their billing practices. Complete rip-off so far as I am concerned.

Indeed did not even try to reach out to us but instead immediately blocked our account. Speaking to Indeed they confirmed that Indeed does not serve employers' interest, Indeed said that their focus is the candidates. Which is not true at all. Indeed blocked our account because of 1 unqualified bitter candidate whom we had to reject, which makes hundreds of highly qualified candidates lose their opportunity. So how does indeed serve candidates? Indeed is an absolute tyrant and racist. This is how they treated our account though we pay to post jobs because we are a company based in Middle East. Hi Madan, job postings on Indeed are uploaded directly by the employer and they do have the ability to remove jobs that are no longer needed from the site. Indeed is not involved in the hiring process and we cannot control employer behavior. Indeed has always been my preferred go to site when looking for jobs and recruiting but their recent update to the platform has been a horrible experience. I'm a specialty recruiter, independent licensed health insurance agents. I was responsible for overseeing our Indeed accounts. Hiring was a breeze before the current update. We were getting hundreds of applicants a day but it dropped to around 10-15 a day regardless of what budget was set.
I'm part of a company wide layoff Aug 2, 22. I'm currently job hunting but I swear if Indeed was a tangible object, I'd throw it through a window. What happened to the advance search. I keep getting the same dumb results for my search. I do full cycle recruiting for 1099 licensed health insurance agents. My title is Partner Success Manager. I recruit independent sales consultants. When I tell you, I've switched, flipped, got creative with relevant keywords, created a Boolean string, added filters, I mean I've done every trick known as a recruiter and I continually get INSURANCE SALES AGENTS/LIFE INSURANCE SALES AGENTS JOBS or recruiting jobs that have absolutely nothing to do with insurance agents.
This has to be the most frustrating thing ever. I've cleared my search history. Cleared my cache, played around with different job titles and it's giving me everything except what I'm searching for. Before, when using the advance search filters, I could omit keywords to streamline my search. It looks like Indeed substituted the advance search with a crappy filter that only list about 5 industries and that's only on the phone version. I don't see any industry filter on the desktop version. I mean come on Indeed. Insurance isn't even on the list.
From the ongoing commercials over the past few years, it appears Indeed is growing at a rapid pace. I get it but, don't go messing around with what's been working. I understand keeping up with trends but don't forget who got you here. Employers and employees. What good is a platform if you can't find anything on it or your jobs get no traction with applicants. As a recruiter I can now see why only a few people were applying to our jobs, they couldn't find them and before you hit me with the explanation of how your algorithms work, we were dropping 500 a day at one point to see if that would help increase the application volume but it didn't, I had an account manager review the job post, they determined nothing was wrong with it. We kept the job current so it wouldn't lose traction but still no applicants. Do better "Indeed."

In the pursuit of a new job, I used all of the major job search sites such as Monster, LinkedIn, Zip Recruiter, Glassdoor and Indeed. I had no idea what I was getting into until I put my information on Indeed. Right away, I started getting job offers for jobs from companies that said that they saw my resume on Indeed. Cold calls and text at all times of the day. Even on Sunday mornings. They offered ridiculous pay rates such as $98,000 for data entry or remote customer service jobs. Or jobs offering $12.00 an hour for crappy jobs not even related to resume and employment history. Emails, text and cold calls every day. They all had one purpose. That was to get my personal information and social security number.
Some of the companies had fake job websites to make them seem legit. 100% of these scammers had one two things in common. They said that they got my information from Indeed and these were bad actors from India. I’m not talking about a few. Over an 8 month period, I would get at least one of these a day. Do the math. Indeed seems to be a database for scammers in India to find gullible people in the United States to steal their identity. I did not have this issue with any other job search board. Companies are out of control and the laws protect their interests. Indeed has enough money to screen companies thoroughly prior to posting a company's ad for their profit. Before someone from Indeed replies to this post, I'm aware you verify companies, but Indeed does not, as most companies, consider the integrity for job seekers and thoroughly background check the companies they advertise.
Applied many times prior to a company that was interested in hiring me. This company treated like gum on a shoe, yelled at - and attacked me verbally when I didn't let them get away with vagueness. In other words, I didn't let this company treat me badly. While that was happening, I had to deal with their terribly mismanaged and chaotic "management." Since I reported the company to Indeed, I keep getting rejection after rejection for new jobs, only to find the company still lists their jobs on Indeed's platform.
Indeed is clearly not invested in job seeker integrity, but rather their profit gain with the companies who pay them to advertise. It is also part of this automation world. Plenty of other job search engines out there and good old fashioned word by mouth. I look forward to receiving some ridiculous response from Indeed. I'll try hard not to expend more energy on typing anything Indeed related, unless their response is obnoxiously suggestive and irresponsible.

Within the month of service there was only 3 people that were interested and I contacted but again was not helpful to what I had in the Job posting. Starting a business is expensive as is, but with trying to hire people or offer services on Indeed is so expensive that it is not worth the time or money. This will go down as one of my worst experiences dealing with a "legitimate" company that I've ever experienced. I understand they're trying to fight spam accounts, but there needs to be some logic to how this company operates. I recently created an LLC for a fast-casual takeout window in a fairly small town in Maine. I've done business there before, but my company was formerly under the umbrella of a sister company of a different name.
As I'm trying to assemble my team to be ready for the spring season (it's a seasonal restaurant), I created job postings on Indeed for 3 different job openings and began sending out invites and scheduling interviews. I had several interviews lined up when I received a notification saying the following: Your ability to post jobs on Indeed has been disabled. One or more of the jobs you posted on Indeed was deemed not consistent with Indeed's quality standards. You will not be able to post any jobs directly on Indeed.
I figured this must be a mistake; probably the result of a bot that hit an edge case resulting in the post being flagged. But on appealing the decision I received more information: Your account has been disabled because its relationship with your company could not be verified. For the security of our employers and job seekers, Indeed must verify accounts and jobs. Odd... Why wouldn't they try to verify BEFORE I had created job postings and lined up interviews?!
Ok, this is something I'm just gonna have to deal with. So how do I verify this is my company...? The email goes on to say: To verify your account, we would like for you to provide documentation relating to your company. Please provide us with one of the following items: Scan/image of your health inspection, Utility Bill with your company's name and address, Business license.
Well, I haven't been inspected yet, and to be totally honest, the health department has been slow to inspect many restaurants ever since COVID hit. So cross that off the list. A utility bill... well my restaurant shares a building space with the sister restaurant mentioned earlier, so all utilities are under a different business name. Cross that off the list. Business license! That'll work, but I'm out of the country for a few weeks and the LLC is being held at the post office, but that's ok because I can look up the LLC registration on the State of Maine government website. I also have the Employer Identification Number granted by the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT proving I'm legitimate.
This is when my headache really began, because apparently Indeed does not accept a federal EIN, nor do they accept a listing from the State of Maine Secretary of State listing both your name and business name. At this point, I can safely assume that all my potential candidates have begun looking elsewhere for jobs. I have no ability to contact them and let them know the situation. I've pretty much been locked out of any action on the Indeed portal.
This would be fine if I lived in an area with a large pool of potential job seekers, but my town has a population of only 6,000, so once you exhaust that pool, you've got very limited options going forward. I make several attempts to call Indeed and speak with a representative who basically sums up the points made in the latest generic email response: "Yes, it looks like they do not accept a Federal EIN, and they do not accept a listing on the Maine Secretary of State website". Ok, thanks for that. What do they accept? "You can send a scan/image of your health inspection, a utility bill with your company's name and address, or a business license. Great, back to square one.
After some thought, I realized I DO have a bill from the previous year for a food order from one of our suppliers. The bill includes BOTH business names AND the street address! I think you can guess what response I get from attempting to submit this to Indeed. "Yes, it looks like they do not accept a food bill to prove ownership of your company. But you can send a scan/image of your health inspection, a utility bill with your company's name and address, or a business license.
You've got to be kidding me... at this point, I feel like I'm being toyed with by a bot. Like maybe there's nobody actually at the helm at Indeed. There are a few people picking up phones, but they communicate through email with a bottom-shelf AI program that's running the entire operation behind the curtain, long since abandoned and forgotten like out of a late-70s science fiction film.
I attempt to get a hold of someone,... anyone, with ANY decision-making power at the company, but any customer representative I ask leads me to the customer support page Indeed.com, which leads back to a low-level customer support representative. So where does this lead? As it stands now, I'm still battling to have my employer account unlocked so I can at least contact my candidates and explain what happened, but so far my attempts have been fruitless. However, I did receive a notification this morning that my automatic payment went through to Indeed, so at least there's that...
I did end up contacting a relative who was able to drive into town and pick up the official LLC document from the post office. I've sent in scans of all pages but have yet to hear back. My best guess is they'll reject the document and ask for a utility bill that lists the business name and address of the company.

Business owner here, I needed to hire someone for a position asap and they blocked my account saying they need ONE of the following items for business verification. I sent one of the items requested, and hours later they respond saying they will need another ONE of the documents (which I of course sent) each document clearly shows my business name, location, and address!
After a few hours they respond "It appears that your request may require specialized attention and our Client Success team can better assist you." Frustrated at this point I call customer service and was told send another document and it should be fine. I again obliged and again received the same response as before. The customer service is TERRIBLE and I am sure they steal the sensitive information of my business on all the documents I sent them. Employers beware. As a business, we find Indeed a money grabber. WE do not mind paying 500 CAD monthly but we need to see genuine care. First they have an option that sends people emails that this company (even worse, this person who is the company's manager) is interested in your profile. The matches are often incorrect, so the algorithm does not work for a niche company like ours. No matter what you do when putting the post, and even if you deactivated all options, it still manages to go through. Why? Because clicks create profit and you are mistaken if you think Indeed is cheap.
Now they have added the option of people checking your ads from all over the world (long overdue) when you add an online job. Guess what? They do not change the currency you have put the ad for and you are in the same country, so nearly everybody thinks you are placing ads in USD and not CAD, creating confusion and frustration. I am going to make this short. I used Indeed for a couple years until I found out what they do, they don't do any real research on the companies that applicants are going to give their personal information to. So that's why after you have applied to different jobs you start to receive unsolicited emails from telemarketers, because Indeed not only COLLECTS your information and sells it, but they also do not have a policy against telemarketing companies that PRETEND to need to hire you but they only are there to collect your data. If you complain to Indeed they pretend to understand and they act politely but after that they DELETE your account.

Hi Carmen, we take the security of our job seekers very seriously and we have an extensive moderation process in place for the jobs and accounts on Indeed. It's our priority to protect the personal information of our users. Please contact us by email at socialcare@indeed.com with more details so we can investigate what happened here.

I placed an ad for couple of openings with our company. After a few hours I received an e-mail stating that our ability to advertise was banned. In response to my inquiry, Indeed informed me that I violated one of their policies. I have been using the same ad for 4-5 years and It never seemed to be a problem before. Simple correction to an ad would fix the problem, but Indeed decided otherwise. After all, the only good part is it doesn't cost anything to advertise...the results are similar!

Our organization set up a Company Profile on Indeed.com to give our company better visibility to prospective job applicants. We worked very hard to achieve a 5-star rating on the 'Reviews' section of our Company Profile, which has been listed for several years now. Recently, a completely separate organization created an additional Company Profile on Indeed.com and used the exact same name as our Company, but did not include any differentiating info (such as a logo, address, phone#, Tax ID#, etc). This other organization obtained two negative reviews on their profile.
I brought this situation to the attention of several representatives at Indeed.com and asked them for assistance in differentiating our Profile (with a 5-star review average) from the other Profile of the same name (with a 1-star review average). Do you know what Indeed did next? They decided to MERGE the two profiles together, effectively forcing us to inherit 2 negative reviews that did not belong to us. I called and wrote Indeed several times to protest this egregious move and they flat out refuse to fix it even though they have acknowledged that the other Profile is/was not related to our Profile in any way, shape, or form. Now, they have irreparably tarnished our organization's online reputation by forcing our Review average to plummet, due to the addition of these invalid reviews. Employers, beware of doing business with this organization!

If you do believe those reviews are for a separate company we will need proof to further assist with this. Your representative did email you offering assistance as well. Please respond back with the requested information and she will further assist you.

I have been using Indeed for several months now. They do indeed have many jobs listed. However every time I was told that my resume matched a company and they were interested in me I was asked if I was interested and then was asked to leave a message. Well I did this with about 80 companies. I never heard back from anyone. So about an hour ago I got a call from someone who actually responded to something I wrote. Unfortunately what I wrote was something along the lines of, "Is anyone actually out there or is this some sort of automated system that simply looks through resumes and picks titles that automatically send everyone the same message?" So I'm talking to him and I tell him this again and he says, "Yes that is exactly what we do." I explained that this is a ridiculous system and I would rather just not hear back than received tons of fake job offers. I asked him if he understood and he made some sort of noise and then hung up on me.
If you are lucky enough to find a job on indeed please post a review here and explain how. Because as far as I can tell indeed is one guy running their system. There are no recruiters at indeed that actually find you a job. I've heard that you can pay for help but there is no way I would do that. I suggest finding a professional headhunter or only apply to jobs directly to a company or better yet just go to the company and talk to someone if you can or at least use a free temp/perm staffing agency. Indeed is indeed garbage. Best of luck to all, you're going to need it. I'm a side note I tried to post a review on Yelp but they do not let you review job sites. I wonder why.

Hi Scott, we're very sorry to hear about this experience. To clarify, we're not directly involved in the hiring process for the jobs appearing on Indeed, it's the responsibility of the employer who posted the jobs to follow up with candidates. We'd be happy to assist with your search, please follow up with us at socialcare@indeed.com if this interests you.

The app not only did not let me connect saying "This is not open to you," but did not let them know I was signed in and trying to connect. I have been a professional worker for many years. I am well educated with many years of experience in 3 disciplines. Indeed was once the easiest and quickest way to search for and apply for jobs, but there seems to have been changes with the site in 2021. Before the pandemic, whenever I got an interview, 9 times out of 10, I got the job. Now all of a sudden, after a dozen interview, no call back, nothing. A few employers have mentioned that there was something wrong with my profile, but would not be more specific. I went from being a rock star job hunter to nobody, with no job prospects in spite of all the media attention about worker shortages.
Indeed is affiliated with many other media companies and it looks like I've been blacklisted on their network. It would surprise me if there are new search criteria in Indeed's pay per use tools they offer their customers. It would be easy for them to tap into and sell the data they share with their affiliated companies. Now these types of activity are illegal, but it doesn't seem to stop these social media type companies. Not that long ago Facebook was fined $5Billions for infringing on the privacy laws of its users. Looks like Indeed is heading down that road. Greed is a wonderful thing, until it all comes crashing down on you, lol. I have no use for a company that blacklists me from its network for money. Indeed, I have no use for your services, block me all you want, lol.

In the rare instance we receive a qualified candidate, they almost never show for the interview as they do not want the job to begin with, just fulfilling their Unemployment requirements. Some have even admitted to this. We ALWAYS receive countless applications from unqualified applicant for the same reason. We have followed all recommendations from Indeed to cut down on this extreme amount of wasted time. No change. Indeed will not discount the charges and state they cannot control these issues. This is an incredibly false statement. They could easily tweak their program to cut down on this additional hardship and they do not for obvious reasons, in order to take your hard earned money making current issues even worse. Indeed sent me coupon/brochure, so I used it to advertise, I have a very small business. Both the brochure the company sent me and the verbiage on their site assures the buyer that your company will not be charged for unqualified candidates. The ad was placed around June 16th, 2021 my budget ceiling was $800. I directly stated in my job ad that I needed a candidate who was local/located in NH, that they need to have a specific license and a specific certification, and I made those 'deal breakers', that this was not a remote job ( though it had the capability to be partially remote at times).
Within approx. 24 hrs, I received 10 responses, only one of which met my criteria. The rest were from all over the US, and most did not have any of the selection criteria, or deal breakers, but I was charged for them. Indeed charged me $725, blowing through most of my entire budget. Is it a coincidence that the errors they made quickly sucked away my entire budget?
By searching as if I was an applicant, I later discovered that some kind of bot at Indeed had my job listed as ‘remote’ which it definitely was not, and I had not listed the position as remote, not at all. So I was paying big for expensive false advertising. I wrote THREE times to try and get some kind of customer service- finally someone answered and reduced my bill, only by $350- I was still being charged for all those unqualified candidates. The person who tersely responded told me this is the best I could hope for. Mind you, I wrote the ad, I posted it, I answered the responses, a computer program at Indeed merely spewed out this stuff online to their site, and an algorithm, I am sure, messed up my ad. Very few, if any real human beings were involved in this mess. I am just a casualty of bad artificial intelligence at Indeed.
In July I got one person applying, and was charged $80. In August, a single candidate applied twice, and I was charged TWICE (total $160), even though it was the SAME PERSON (maybe they were also having trouble with the software, it was on the same day). Once again, impossible to get any kind of customer service to answer me to rectify this problem of being overcharged. The software is difficult to use and confusing. Indeed is terribly expensive with bad software and bad service. I would not have posted the ad unless I knew I would not be charged for unqualified candidates, and I relied on the company’s promise that I would not be charged, and yet I was.

Do not use Indeed to hire - nor look for any job. The company promoted "Free Job Post," then they disable your account, keep asking for "Sensitive" documents to prove you are a business owner. Question is why do I have to provide any sort of document while my credit card, email, and phone number has already been verified. So do not use indeed to hire for any job. Do not look to hire anyone from indeed. Unfortunately without the proper documentation associated with a legitimate business, you will no longer be able to post on Indeed. We will need the specific documentation we requested in order for the review to move forward on the account. To protect our job seekers, we reserve the right to review accounts at any time and if we find that there is no verifiable information, reserve the right to disable them.
Update*** Indeed is not a financial institute nor related to banking. There is no requirement for a business owner to provide you with sensitive business documents, as you have no control over who applies for the job. Moreover Indeed does not guarantee the validity of a job offer and cautions Job Seekers to verify the validity of a job offer before taking an adverse action regarding their current employment situations. Job Seekers are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any Employer or job offer. So there is no protection here.. all is a bogus reason from Indeed.
**Do not use indeed to hire** as they require you to validate your business by providing them sensitive material. This is not Upwork, where I am bound to use the platform only with its rules. I simply post a job and get a response. My business information was provided by "website", "phone number", "email" which is more than enough for a job posting.

Another three days of email communication were wasted trying to get it fixed before I gave up. At least I was able to post jobs, or so I thought. After posting one job that got only a few hits we attempted to post a second. Upon submitting the second job posting the entire account got shut down and all postings removed because the job post did not meet their "quality standards."

Somehow I was diverted to Indeed whilst attempting to complete a job application for a particular company. When I realized I had been diverted, I stopped filling in blanks, but it was too late. I now get constant harassing emails, phone calls and texts from fake companies, all requesting my personal information. Indeed won’t remove my information, and I cannot get the calls to stop. It appears that Indeed leaked or sold my information to spammers.

I have used Indeed.com on and off throughout the years and have never had any issues, but recently I've noticed that Indeed has been using cognitive test screen candidates. The questions on these tests are irrelevant to the job requirements and the practice of cognitive assessments are a discriminatory tool to screen out people with learning disabilities and neuro-divergent candidates. I highly recommend that Indeed halt this practice.

It has been almost 2 weeks and they have not answered me concerning if my account was hacked and if my personal information including my credit card was taken. It is very concerning that a company can not communicate what it going on with an account especially if they believe that it has been hacked. Funny how they disable some accounts and FAIL to disable other accounts or blatantly overlook some postings. If you disable some...disable all accounts...FAIR IS FAIR. I have reported several of these accounts but these job postings are still visible and posted on Indeed! The job postings even have the web address and even mentions ARISE... Why discriminate and disable some accounts and not others???? I have screenshots as proof! Indeed explain the reasoning behind allowing some of these companies affiliated with Arise to post and jobs and not others!!

I received numerous highly unqualified resumes and then was charged $525 due to volume by Indeed for their services. To say that I was disappointed in their services is an understatement. I was appalled by their business model and overall experience. I will never again work with them or refer anyone to them. I reached out to try and have them make things right and was responded to with some generic response telling me they are sorry and that I should use bold fonts and bullet points. Thanks a lot! I had attempted to use Indeed.com to fill two positions at my company. I received an extraordinarily large amount of candidates. In reviewing those candidates it became very apparent that none of them were feasible hires. A great many of them lived 200 plus miles away, were interested in a completely different field and many of them had resumes that made no sense. It is not just that I was being picky. If I am hiring in New York City for a receptionist, I do not want a resume from a phlebotomist who lives in Arkansas. That is not an exaggerated example either. When I realized that either they were just sending out resumes for the sake of sending out resumes or that many of them were just fake I immediately contacted them to cancel any further advertising. They did not. Although I did not receive any more candidates after I contacted them I was billed in excess of $240 more.
That is not the part that surprised me, the part that surprised me was that they freely admitted to this in writing and refused to refund me. I still have those emails and occasionally wonder what else I should do about this. I'm never going to get the money back, I have to accept this lesson has cost me. I am interested though, and how much karma will be charging them... Good way to rip off a small business indeed.com. Kudos. Aside from archived written communications verifying my statement, please be advised that this is my opinion.

No serious person reviews credentials that fast. The rejection notice is always a non-reply, and when Indeed is question as to the validity of the post they simply state they just post what the company gives them. Indeed should be forced to check the validity of the post being made. Many (including me) feel there're often no jobs and companies are simply looking to see what talent is on the market.

My experience with Indeed is not positive. Since the site uses a grading system on applicants, I feel that it is not a fair system at all. First, you receive a message from Indeed saying that your qualifications match a particular job, then you review the company's job summary and decide to apply. You have an exceptional Resume, Cover Letter and supporting documents and still receive responses that you are not qualified. That is not unusual but, to apply to numerous jobs and continue to receive the same message is unusual and draws a red flag.
How does one really know if the application ever reached the employer in the first place and the response that you receive is not from a live person but, to find out it is an automated response. I would suggest job seekers looking into other alternatives for applying for employment. There are many out there like networking, which is probably the most sufficient one. Indeed is just not one of them, which is very unfortunate when you see it being advised on social media and television of what a wonderful tool for seeking employment. I really don't think so.

I have used Indeed usually for a few months each year for about 8 years to post hiring ads. I've always loved indeed until now. I'm in need of another site and will not use indeed any longer if I find something. I use to be able to get about 30-40 clicks on a posting with 5-10 applications for $50-100. Now I get 10 clicks and maybe 1-2 applications for $400!!!!
Last fall when this happened for the first time I was in shoock. Within a couple days my budget was out at $400 and not one application. I called and swore this must be glitched. They did credit me back $200 with my complaint which is great but couldn't really tell me what's so different. Tried to run an ad this week 4 days in 3 application and about 25 clicks I hit $400.. surprise surprise. I think one ad had NO applications and 8 clicks for $200. I feel very ripped off and can't trust indeed.

I applied for 2 jobs that were posted in Indeed. I was hired for both and provided my social security number and my bank account information for what I thought was for direct deposit information of my paycheck. Both jobs were work from home jobs. For 1 of those companies, I've already been working with them for 3 weeks and didn't notice anything peculiar about it. The other one that said they hired me hasn't responded after many attempts of checking what my next step would be in the onboarding process. So I Googled the company to check if there was a phone number that I can call the company.
The first link that popped up when I Googled the company was a link to scamdetectors.com. When I read the information of the company, I immediately contacted Better Business Bureau (BBB) and they confirmed with me this company is a scam as they have received multiple reports about the company and cannot confirm its legitimacy. Because the current company I was working for was in similar job description/industry, I checked that company as well with BBB and they also confirmed it might be a scam because the industry that the company was listed under is completely different and has no connection to what I am doing and what I applied for. I can no longer find those companies in Indeed and the job postings have now been deleted.
I had to change my bank account number and that process in its own is difficult as I have multiple accounts that needed to be transferred to a new bank number. I also reported these companies to the FBI. I am upset, hurt, and heart broken because I was relying on the salary that I was supposed to receive after 1 month worth of work. I was counting on that paycheck to help pay the bills and help my family especially during this pandemic where everyone is just trying to find an honest job to be able to provide for their family.
Indeed is not even deserving of a 1 star. You should be able to give zero stars. You would think that a company like Indeed who advertises across the nation of their service, would vet the legitimacy of the companies that post in their site and protect people from being scammed or be part of a scam. What's worse is that I was involved in a criminal activity not of my own choice and helped these scammers screw other people without me knowing it. God! That hurts the most because it's hard to get that out of my conscience. I'm one that believes in karma and I would never wish to do ill will unto other people and I feel Indeed just cheated me out of being innocent in harming anyone. With everything happening in our world today, I never wanted to be part of harming anyone in any way possible. Indeed has broken more than my trust from this experience.

They post jobs without any company information. They send you robo-emails with a fake name attached to make you think they are treating you individually. They send you dozens of jobs unrelated to the job you need. They send you fake emails from companies you have applied to with a fake first name, no last name, no title, and no contact information, which in my opinion, should be illegal as a false representation of that company. Indeed is a huge time waster. They play upon your emotions as a person who needs a job. Shameful.

I have applied for job after job for over a year and I have never heard back from an employer. I have begun reaching out directly to the employer, only to find that the posting on Indeed is either outdated, or there is no position available. I have talked to a few employers that say they don't advertise with indeed, yet, I clearly see the position on Indeed's website.
On several occasions I have received an email from Indeed claiming the employer has asked that I take an Indeed Assessment only to find out after calling the employer directly, because I never received any responses, that they don't review indeed skill assessments. To date I have taking 6 assessments and have gotten "Expert" on many of them. Assessments are time consuming and can take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes. Yet I have not received a single response. Even more curious, I have applied for more the 30 jobs over the last 8 months and only 4 show up in my history.
The only contracts I seem to get are constant emails from India based headhunters and staffing companies that, while my resume is now private, are clearly not looking at my preferences. Each of them state they found my information on Indeed. Several were offering positions pay as little at $20.00 hourly for positions such as a senior analyst, Python developer, then claim that the client needs immediate hires. When I contact the employer (when the agent is willing to disclose it), the employer says they've never heard of the agency.

UPDATE 03/11/2021 After I posted this review, Indeed sent me a private message to “assist” me. Though I can’t seem to share it verbatim here, I was essentially told that it’s possible that my review did not conform to their guidelines, and a link to those guidelines was included, along with a note that they are unable to discuss individual reviews. Since not only were the guidelines themselves part of the issue but the fact that I had a new employee giving a new reason to reject my review each time I edited and resubmitted it, here was my response to them:
“Sorry, but this is the same vague deflection that I've heard three times already from the three different members of your company who themselves didn't hesitate to discuss why my review shouldn't be shared. My review didn't contain any info that was "unlawful, fraudulent, discriminatory, threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, or obscene" (granted, I suppose you can just blanket-reject anything using the vague "or otherwise objectionable" part), and it certainly didn't contain "allegations of illegal activity." Nonetheless, the very first reason for the rejection that I was given-- that my review contained "references to OTHER companies," when the only company mentioned was the one that I was trying to review (since it's a review?)-- contradicted your own guidelines. Not only that, there's no passage like that in either the Company Review Policies OR the Terms Of Service that you're all so quick to mention (and if you're referring to this little extra set of rules-- then perhaps you should consider combining them with either of those others...).
All it would've taken is for ONE employee to point out each portion of my review that was considered problematic, in ONE email, rather than have different employees still pointing out new issues two months after I'd first tried posting it. After all that time-wasting back and forth, one frankly can't help but to question your employees' efficiency, and-- considering that your business IS paid by other companies to post their job vacancies-- your integrity and culpability overall. You can't have it both ways by taking money from these companies to post their job vacancies, then pretend that you're not protecting your own interests when you end up putting such effort into censoring the opinions/reactions of the employees who've filled those vacancies.
Ditch the all-encompassing guidelines-- and the ridiculous 97-page Terms Of Services that accompany them-- or just consider retiring the review section of the site altogether, because you can't pretend to care about what employees/reviewers have to say if you're going to make them jump through dozens of censorial hoops and still hope to produce an honest, informative evaluation of somewhere they've worked (at this point, it feels like I should start charging you guys for all the time I've spent having to edit my review for your approval since the otherwise simple process has become a job unto itself...).
This is why movie studios put a disclaimer on DVD/Bluray releases that "the comments and opinions expressed in this film do not reflect the views of X studio." I understand that you may feel the need to protect yourself from potential legal retaliation for sharing reviews of companies that may paint them in a negative light, but perhaps the kind of companies that'd be so defensive as to retaliate against such reviews are EXACTLY the kind of places that need/deserve to have their dirty laundry aired. Seriously, hire better lawyers (I sure hope that whichever one spent all those hours drafting that 97-page atrocity was cheap, otherwise, they likely had a good laugh at your expense...).
In the meantime, my assessment of you stands, if only so that any/all other employees/reviewers you've silenced will know that they're not alone. Good day, and an unresolved goodbye.”
Original review 2/25/21:As a job seeker, I can say that yes, I was able to use Indeed to find, apply for, and even land a staff job with benefits. That was great! (and that’s why I’m rating them 2-stars instead of 1). Yet when that company suddenly laid me off weeks later over a misunderstanding on a mere training assignment with zero warning, zero benefit of the doubt, zero opportunity to change things moving forward (when I’d been praised for my work only days before), with no severance right before my benefits were supposed to kick in, as you can imagine, that was NOT so great. And when I in turn tried to post a review of this company on Indeed expressing my disappointment only to have Indeed repeatedly censor and keep coming up with new reasons not to publish my review, that was grating to say the least.
What were some of those reasons, you ask? First, it was because they claimed I’d made “references to other companies,” when the only company I’d referenced was the name of the one I was reviewing (and one would expect if you were reviewing, say, a restaurant or movie, it’d be understandable if you’d include the name of the film, dish, etc for context). No big deal, I substituted their name for “this company” and resubmitted. Next, it was rejected because they felt that one of my sentences was “considered as too strong,” due to how I likened the disillusioning experience of getting into a relationship with someone, only to later discover they were toxic/abusive. OK, so I checked a thesaurus, found some alternative words, and resubmitted.
By this point, I'd noticed— and eventually pointed out to Indeed— that the company I was trying to review, despite being a fairly large one with offices across the world, a company that I'd seen repeatedly posting openings on their site and were likely A) expanding or B) had a high turnover rate (which from my experience seemed to be the case) they oddly only had the same handful of largely positive reviews listed on their site, with one negative one (and the review I was trying to post wasn’t even as harsh as that one). I’d also noticed that the company in question seemed to have a lot more negative reviews posted on other sites. Well, Indeed said they’d “escalate” things and get back to me.
When they finally did, weeks later, they then said my review “mentioned very detailed situations and shared some details about the company that are not in the public knowledge of that company,” and both would be reasons for rejection. Well… again, it’s a review. And it certainly didn't specify anyone’s title/name, nor list company clients/projects, or provide specific dates/quotes (which would all understandably be confidential info). But it IS a review, so details/examples are important: if I’d mentioned, say, how a manager would email you an unnecessary/passive aggressive reminder of when an online meeting started if you’d logged in early to test your internet connection/audio as an example of them being micromanaging, then that’s relevant (and not exactly privileged confidential information).
At this point, I’d already posted my review elsewhere, because it’d become apparent what was going on: Indeed was clearly blocking ANY new reviews-- positive or negative— as an added bonus to my former employer for their business. They'd just keep making up new rules for what they found acceptable, keep moving the goal post. Now, were they obligated to post my review? Probably not, but they also didn’t need to string me along and waste my time (and based on some of the negative reviews I’ve read from employers who’ve used them, it would seem that there are better ways that they could be spending their own time than to put such scrutiny into one review).
Still, as long as my former employer had a job vacancy that they were paying Indeed to post— even if it was the same opening over and over again— Indeed could keep making money off them, and keep enabling them by rejecting, silencing, and/or gaslighting any honest reviews or reviewers that could make other job applicants hesitant to apply. After all, there’s no money to be made from a worker who stays employed, but from the applicants who keep applying for that position. It’s a complicit cycle, likely a conflict of interest too— and who knows, perhaps someday, some new hire will similarly apply to and be terminated from a company like this, fall into financial hardship or depression, and end up harming themselves— but they seem OK perpetuating it as long as it keeps their own lights on.

From my experience, and the reviews of job seekers and job posters, Indeed is not dealing honestly with either job seekers or job posters. Indeed promises jobs to seekers, but they post and repost and repost jobs that are stale and probably not available, so you waste your time with resumes and cover letters. Those who post jobs are being overcharged because Indeed does no qualifying of seekers so many seekers click who have no intention of applying. Indeed posts a little blurb of a job where you can click to see more, and I bet that when you click to see more the job poster is charged.
Indeed also does not always post the name of the employer so you can't research the employer, as you should to be a good applicant. Also, Indeed is not following the law in my state, Colorado, because Colorado has a law that requires all job postings to have a salary range and benefits posted, and Indeed does not always include these things. When I complained to Indeed, they said they are not responsible for what the employers post, (a cheap cop out) and that they get many of their postings from other sites, which is dishonest, so I don't recommend Indeed.

When I tried to contact Indeed, I found it was impossible. So now some shady business has all my personal information and I can't get any assistance from Indeed about anything. Very scary and very frustrating.

Indeed offers free posting, but after I do a free posting my accounts gets blocked and even I appeal at the decision, there is no response. For the past 3 days this is happening. If you want to provide only charged/sponsored job posting then why do you offer free job posting and then blocking the account at last. Indeed was not like this before. I'm noticing it only past 1 week. Why is this happening????

Hello Anjali, thank you for reaching out. To explain, Indeed offers the option to post for free or sponsor jobs. There are some exceptions to the free posting. In addition, all job postings and accounts must go through an internal review process to ensure our guidelines are met. A member of our team has responded to your review by private message. I check every morning at saved search locations, is says there are 4 new jobs. I click and there are hundreds from Vancouver to PEI. Yes there was 4 in my area but find them. Also if there's a bad review on a company. The company can delete it. Why are there reviews then???

Hi Denis, we are very sorry to hear about your experience with Indeed. We have sent you a private message to further assist.

I do not know what is going on with this site this year. I had great experiences in the past, but as of lately it seems like there is nothing available for me. I receive suggestions that are not related to my skills on my resume, a ridiculous amount of scam calls/texts for jobs, and they continue to ask me to review my previous employers. They also reject reviews if you tell the truth about a previous job, at least the last two I attempted to post. People need to know what they are getting into when they apply for positions and Indeed does not want that to happen. If I would have known the truth, I would have chosen another company in the past, but all the reviews for this specific company were sugar-coated. My advice would be to find additional sites for employment and take your time to read the reviews thoroughly. I do not want a generic response from Indeed either, just save it.

Regarding the reviews you have posted for other companies on Indeed, a review will only be removed if it violates our guidelines: https://support.indeed.com/hc/en-us/articles/360046789111-Company-Review-Policies.

I placed an ad and found myself in a conversation with a sales associate who was there to "Help Me maximize my results". The billing structure is "Per Click" supposedly the questions we asked was going to eliminate unqualified applicants. In the course of the month I got no more than a dozen applicants, none of which fit our needs and that cost me approximately $1,200.00.
Apparently if someone opens the ad I am billed for a click at approx $10.00 each. I was blown away with the cost so I went on the site and the invoices posted only showed the total amount, no way to know how they got to that number. They Bill your credit card when you reach $500.00 so I got three invoices that month, no notice, just a charge to my account. I will never use Indeed again. There was a time that they were reasonable but not now.

Hello Ed, thank you for reaching out and sharing this with us. To explain Indeed works on a cost per click basis. This means every time someone clicks on your ad you are going to be charged a small amount. This amount will be subtracted from your daily or monthly budget you choose to spend. Our system will try to get you the most clicks at the lowest cost. We would be happy to take a look at your account to see how we can help here. Until today my company job never able to post so we decide to move to Glassdoor and LinkedIn. We don't know for what is happening. No matter how the job description we create the best still it is disable. When we contact the team, they said they look for quality and we made the quality standard and still disable at second time. They said that we did not pay enough in the past. Past we have different team, now we are willing to pay. Indeed, don't just become money driver measure our past to present now. But become understand company have different stages, not because they don't spend money enough, you try to limit them. What was not how indeed started. HR has different people work together, and company has different stages to spend money for their job post.

Hi Helen, we would like to have a closer look at this for you. All accounts on Indeed are subject to a routine review designed to protect our job seekers and employers and ensure a high level of quality in our search results, it sounds like your account was flagged for this review. I've experienced two scams in two weeks, there are regular notices on the site of how to avoid being scammed, and lots of testimonials around about people who've been scammed. I've come to not trust the information on the site. I'm not sure if the jobs posted are even real, based upon the testimony of others. I tried to contact Indeed as the site itself says to if you think you are being scammed or to report a job you think is fake, and there was no way to submit any claim. Is Indeed doing anything to ensure the legitimacy of the jobs posted on its site? I'll have to go back to pounding the pavement at actual company websites, instead of wasting time wondering if my resume is being seen by legitimate companies or if the job postings are actually real.

My first and only post and this is the result: "Your ability to post jobs on Indeed has been disabled". No explanations, no email, just "disabled". Unfriendly first contact, no idea why, no customer support during weekends.

Hello Lili, to explain, it is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. We would be happy to take a look at your account to see how we can help here. I have a resume on Indeed and my resume got marked as private for some reason. I reached out to indeed support and after a month they comeback and tell, "We reviewed and it's still going to be marked private" without any valid explanation.
