I started my college overseas with a military affiliation to a U.S. university and then enrolled with the University of Phoenix when I transferred to Tucson, Arizona. They offered a flexible online program that suited my needs. A highly adaptive program is the university's focus. You can enroll online and in classroom. Plus, it's easy to apply in a graduate program if you maintained at least a 2.5 grade point in undergraduate studies. They offer year-round enrollment for how ever many classes fit your schedule. When convenience is the primary concern to working men and women, you can enroll with one course at a time in a particular major, but the disadvantage of this is consistency in full time participation in team-focused, performance learning marketing analytics that is powerfully collaborative-based.

The University of Phoenix is great way to learn online. I get help any hour of the night or day. They are there for the people. They help me in any way and are like my best friend in every need. If I have a stuck question then they help me. They're always on call for 4 hour a day with any need I need. If I get stuck in finances, need extension, they add it to my next bill. Also, the enrollment process was very easy. They worked out plans with me.

It was easy to understand and engage in all the online platforms. I thought the tuition was relatively high and the school would benefit from having more recognition. Also, more financial aid assistance would be nice. But I enjoyed the business school, online classes, accredited education and helpful professors, career conventions with potential hiring companies. Very informative and thought provoking on all levels.

The process to enroll was pretty easy. I was able to sign up online and pick the classes that I wanted without any problems. It's really easy to engage with the online platform. Also, I love that I can do the classes from my home and don't actually have to travel to take courses but I wish there were more time with the professors. I feel like since I'm not in a traditional classroom that I don't get that one on one time enough as I would if I could actually see the professor in person. But having to physically go to a school in order to take classes I'm interested in just isn't an option right now.

I filled out a contact sheet online and someone contacted me within 30 minutes. The whole process took less then 3 days and I was not stressed at all. The staff is awesome and they made the process easy and self explanatory to me. I love being able to do school in my own home and still be able to take care of my kids. This was a big part of my decision making process. I needed that flexibility because I do have two young kids.

Easy to use, less practical knowledge gained: It's easy to get going. The platform was nice to use and the instructors were responsive to questions. It was easy to fit around my schedule. The courses could be taken back to back and the workload was not too overbearing. The place and class size were good. But I wish they would add more challenging courses. The structure was based a lot on opinion and essay rather than on hard facts or analysis of data. We wrote a lot of essays and discussion questions and read a lot but there wasn't the traditional problem solving to get to a concrete answer. I have not used the knowledge as much as my other degrees from a traditional college.

Courses have helped in improving my efficiency at work and move further up in my career. I like the program structure and flexibility to study while working. Being on online program, I can study from comfort of my home which saves my time of traveling to and fro from university. However, I miss the personal touch of a traditional classroom setup. I feel that even though I have the flexibility to study from anywhere but physical presence of a classroom would lead to more focused studies.

I liked the formatting of the online classrooms before they changed them. I liked that I could alternate between online classes and on ground classes depending on my schedule and needs and how engaging the discussions were and how that contributed to your grades. I disliked the changes in the online classrooms that began towards the end of my program. I'm glad I graduated shortly after they launched it. The forum/thread change was glitchy and hard to navigate. A neat idea would have been to allow students to live video chat with one another for discussions if they felt comfortable doing so. Many students were confused and unhappy. But at the beginning of my program, the online platform was easy to navigate and to engage in discussions with classmates.

Enrolling and taking courses were not instant immediately. The online platform is quite difficult to get used to the first time. But as time went on or day by day, you get used to the atmosphere. The online program easily compares to classes that were not online in the past. I can always type class work and homework done online, instead of having to write down everything that takes up a lot of my time. But the online program should have clear instructions because they are not always stated as exactly as it should be. Without clear instructions, this is how I would not be able to catch up with my classes.

The ability to do your schoolwork online and not have to leave your house made University of Phoenix extremely appealing. It gives you the ability to work full time and do school work. However, there is no schedule which is a little hard to stay on track and not end up late on anything. And when you do require help the people on the campus have no idea how to help you. I think it should be easier to ask for help for when you need some extra help like with math such as algebra and calculus because when I was doing it its what I had the most issues out of.

The online environment and structure is intuitive for students. And University of Phoenix is very attractive for an Associates degree however, some students have concerns about getting their Bachelors degree from Phoenix. University of Phoenix should do more to ensure they hold the top level distance learning accreditation, because many people still feel that the accreditation is sketchy.

I've gotten a lot more out of this school than expected. They provided me with far better resources than the previous college I attended, ITT Technical Institute. Everything has been going well. Until. I noticed a woman who had a history of misspellings, and incomprehensible sentence structure in class, was copying and pasting paragraphs. She was because they obviously weren't her own. She wasn't citing sources. She was schooled on several occasions on her answers by other students. But she just kept posting plagiarized content. I made a comment to her about it in class. She kept doing it. I complained to the staff, and to the professor. Nothing happened. I sent her a personal letter advising her that copying and pasting content was plagiarism. I was pissed because I put a lot of work into my responses. This woman was passing the class for copying someone else's work.

They didn't assure me that the situation was being handled. So I handled it myself. They sent me a disciplinary letter because I sent a letter to her personal email, schooling her on plagiarism, and the qualifications of that course. They wouldn't discipline the woman themselves, and didn't like it for anyone else to either. This woman should never have been permitted to take this course. The authors that she copied should be notified, in my opinion. I've noticed in every class I've taken thus far, at least fifty percent of the class doesn't use proper sentence structure, grammar, or punctuation. But never had I seen anyone outright plagiarize another author's works. And they let her get away with it. This school has failed, and stupid has excelled.

I attended UOP for my bachelor's and went returned for my master's. Towards the end of my last class, I realized I was going to have to take a medical leave. I called the appropriate people thru UOP and was also assisted via email. I was told there was no problem in not attending my last class. I also contacted the school again to gain information on how to withdraw and was provided the information on how to do this. I was told to wait until my grant money arrived so I would not be billed. I did exactly what I was told to do. I recently was made aware by a very nasty letter from UOP that they never took out the funding for my prior class and would like for me to pay the entire amount due that is over $4 grand. I find this repulsive due to the fact I followed and did exactly what I was told by UOP to and this was to wait until my funding from grants had been received.

The grants came in and personnel at UOP did not take out the prior funding and then are sticking me with the entire bill. The letter is very nasty. DO NOT sign anything with this school to withdraw. I needed to have sent a certified letter (had I known) prior not to sign the withdraw. The letter that I was sent stated because I signed the withdraw- (right prior to Christmas and the New Year) where UOP is closed.

This is uncalled for to bill me for an error on UOP and send this to my credit report to damage my credit. Not only this, upon each year at UOP, I was told to take out the maximum amount of federal funding to ensure there would always be enough in my account. I did what I was told by borrowing the maximum amount each year to obtain a college education. I am a single parent and find the way the school has treated me is uncalled for due to their own error and the fact, I followed what I was told to do.

The last few months have been crazy trying to obtain an official transcript from the University of Phoenix. I supposedly owe them $351 for a class I withdrew from after I was told I had no more financial aid or student loan money to pay for the class. Because I was a single mom, it was difficult to pay for classes out of pocket, hence the reason I was using financial aid. This was in 2013 that I withdrew and stopped going to the UoP. Not to mention, I was told I was enrolled in Social Work which was actually Human Services. Completely different.

This year, I need an official transcript for the University of Toledo. UoP will not give me this due to the charge. After doing research, the school "issued" me refunds on June 5 2013. The class started June 4 2013. They say I withdrew after a week in the class. With that said, they also told me that if a student meets attendance requirements (posting 2 times in the first week), they are required to issue any refunds of aid to the student. According to Lee ** in the financial department, I posted on June 5 2013 and June 7 2013. Now assuming this is true, that would mean that at the end of that first week (June 11 2013) the UoP could issue any refunds I had. They issued the refunds on June 5 2013 before they knew if I met attendance requirements and for some reason, did not charge the class and take their money from the funds.

Now, 4 years later, I need an official transcript and I cannot get this. Somehow, they are blaming me for their mistake. I am still doing research and looking for any proof from my student file and bank information (I don't recall getting refund checks) that proves they are in the wrong. $351 may not seem like a lot to most, but if I could afford out of pocket education, I wouldn't use government pell grant money and student loans. It is amazing to me all of the lawsuits that are out there against this school. The complaints, the lawsuits, and the rudeness of their customer service representatives is crazy. Please make sure you are fully aware of what is going on if you apply to this school.

I and the school I am trying to go to have attempted to contact University of Phoenix to obtain my official transcript. That is when I found out that there is a hold on that account. When I contacted them to ask for the amount I was told it was with a collection agency. They proceeded to connect me with the collection agency called FBCS.

The guy I spoke with Mr. ** who stated I owed UOP $2000.00 I asked that he send that to me in writing, and was told no nothing can be sent in writing unless I pay $1000.00. Then it went down to $800 then down to $400 then down to $74.00 But when I asked for it in writing to verify the charges he proceeded to tell me no. I currently do not feel that I owe University of Phoenix and because they will not or cannot prove what the charges are for they have no reason to hold my Transcript.

When I pulled up the account online it does not show an outstanding balance. I am able to view my unofficial transcript and my old class schedule. I have screenshots of these just in case they attempt to add or delete information upon receiving notification of this complaint. I verified with NSDL that nothing is owed to University of Phoenix therefore I am requesting a review and RELEASE of my Official Transcript. I Understand if there was a legitimate bill, but there is no way I owe when my entire year was paid by financial aid. I have contacted the FTC and BB. I will be contacting the Dept of Education, and the Higher learning commission as well. I DO NOT/WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNIVERSITY TO ANYONE!!!

While they go through the process, they tell me they want you to be in class so you can get financial aid, then when there is a discrepancy and I turn out to be under "a standard review" for financial aid and I want to stop taking classes, they (initials of financial advisor DC) stated there will be a huge issue if I did that, since a friend has done this before I went on a leave of absence till financial aid was taken care of. I followed up with DC and others in financial aid for 5 months and for the runaround.

Near the end of that five months, they wanted me to contact a school I attended previously, sign a paper stating everything was good after that. I didn't fall for it, so I stated on leave of absence. Now 2 months later, I'm getting threading letters to pay my balance or there will be legal issues. Don't go there, don't take my word for it, review it, try it for yourself. They will throw you candy, tell you it's free and later want you to pay for it.

I started going to the UOP around June of 2017. In July, I had to have an emergency Appendectomy. I still got my work done and kept up with attendance in classes, regardless of my physical problems. Then I noticed that my excess funding and payments were messed up completely. Then I got online and it said that I had no financial aid at all, or loan disbursements. So, I called and they said it was just a computer error and they would have it fixed within the week. It took 3 weeks for them to figure out my financial plan (which should have already been done). Finally, I needed to access a refund to purchase a new laptop. So, I asked for a leave of absence until I could get one. It took them two more weeks to get me the money I needed. Eventually, I got my money and a new laptop to start classes. By that time I was ready to go until I had a family emergency and more health issues.

I called the school numerous times to get an extension on my leave of absence. They never returned my calls. My health and family obligations were more important to me than constantly sitting on the phone. Then, I received an email saying they missed me in class? So I emailed my Academic Advisor back and gave him a time to call me the next day so I could explain what was going on (in the beginning of December). I just received a call from him on Wednesday "asking what my plans were". Confused. Gathering my thoughts on whether I wanted to continue at the school and work it all out to continue my education, I got a call yesterday from a collections agency out of Columbus, OH. They said that I had a debt of 1,600 dollars. I asked who I owed that money to and they said The University of Phoenix.

At that point, I dropped everything I was doing at work to call and get an explanation. After 15 minutes of them pulling my account records, they said that everything was fine. So, I asked again why I owed them any money? Finally, I looked and my enrollment status was "withdrawn". I never withdrew from the school at all, and I attempted to call them to figure something out for weeks.

Eventually the man on the phone explained to me that they sent my loans back to the lender and I had to pay a return to lender fee for them returning funds that I didn't even use. Which, no one told me I would ever have to pay a fee to them if I didn't use funds and they were being sent back to my lender. This is where the school gets you. They get you in and take forever to get your funds set up, but you don't receive them; nor do they explain any of their terms to you. I will be fighting this because it is not my fault. The school lacks in communication with their students.

I taught there for a number of years but found that over the years the students were less prepared and the University made the courses more rigid and less useful through over regulation and simplification. The University is totally impersonal/somewhat sterile -- I can say I taught well over a 1000 students but never met one. I actually suspect that good innovative faculty are sort of pushed aside and replaced by low level teachers that simply follow the rigid and boring curriculum, and give out high grades. I left because I could not take the gradual attempt to be forced to use a minimally acceptable syllabus and the fact that the University was misleading and taking advantage of students.

On the positive note, I did enjoy working with many of the students in my classes, seeing them gain some good knowledge and insights was a pleasure. Also whenever I had a technical issue the tech support group was quite good at resolving it. Online education has incredible potential... University of Phoenix was a trailblazer but they have lost their way. It works for some, but many will be left unsatisfied.

Unfortunately I am in the same predicament as many of the people who have written scathing reviews about this school. This has been hands down the worst experience in my adult life. For an entire year I was called by a recruiter. She called and emailed me on my birthday, after holidays, and on regular occasions just to present herself, and the school as caring individuals. Now, after four months of being a student, I have come to the conclusion that they are anything but that. I have been attending this school since September of 2015, and as of today January 12, 2017, I have not received a dime of my financial aid. I have been told that I am part of a new system that is causing my delay. My financial aid's supervisor, Adriana ** has repeatedly told me the wrong information, and has not at all explained in detailed what the system is.

After reading about the horrible experiences that other students have encountered, I felt that I needed to reach out and warn future students about this school's scammerish ways. Avoid this school at all cost. They don't care about you, your family, or your situation. They only care about numbers and money. They boast of helping people obtain a degree while balancing a family, which I find insulting. I predict this school going the same route as ITT.

I completed my Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the University of Phoenix in 2016. I had an Associates Degree in Accounting before I started the program and the process took me about three years because I had to take some time off due to finances, and family and work commitments. My final GPA was 3.93 - graduated with honors. Overall, the experience with the University was splendid. I had an excellent academic adviser (Tory) who helped me navigate the process. My professors were very knowledgeable in their field (most of whom work in the field they taught, and they always posted their qualifications at the beginning of each class). The curriculum was well planned and easy to follow, and the University had a lot of materials and tools to help me throughout the process.

One of the biggest drawbacks I had were the groups. I have had many experiences with group members who just did not care about the overall success of the group to the detriment of one or two caring members. Unfortunately, this is what you find in the workplace, so it is a good learning experience. However, I wish there is a way the University can fine tune this process.

My final GPA was 3.93 - graduate with honors, and I just enroll in the MBA program that is scheduled to begin August 2017. As a student that went to a traditional University, I find the majority of reviews somewhat disturbing. I recall countless nights of studies, and I had to put an average of 20 hours per week to achieve my success (keep in mind that this is one class every five weeks). I am begging the University to take note of these reviews and make changes to its enrollment and retention process. Also, for prospective students and employers considering this University, please seek out reviews from students who have graduated for a better overall assessment.

I have to email and fax different information all the time and wait, then I get a call saying they never received the information etc. In the middle of all of this there was a mention of a C code that was holding everything up. Weeks later I'm being told that the university is having a system glitch and they are trying to get it fixed. SCAM! None of this is true. This is a classic case of bait and switch, the longer they hold the funds the longer they collect interest on your money!

Believe me when I say I have not once been able to look at my account since the day I started at the University of Phoenix! Fraud! I contacted the holder of my lonesome and they assured me that the disclosure statement that was sent to me with disbursement dates was the evidence that the University of Phoenix has received all of the funds awarded to me! Direct Loans referred me to the department of education to make a complaint. I am just starting the process and will not rest until this situation lands in the lap of the US Senate! The learning teams are a joke and the "instructors" are there to collect a paycheck. Even when alerted to BLATANT plagiarism, they do nothing. I learned absolutely nothing in the courses I took because they were just a rehash of the content I learned while earning my associate's degree at a real school.

When I checked into going to a brick and mortar school in my hometown, I found that NONE of what I had done at UoP would be considered. I completed 12 courses and they said I still had 3 years to go. Not sure how that is possible when I already have an AAS in the same field of study. If you consider the amount of money you have to pay to attend this "university" and the fact that none of the courses transfer and most employers find the degree you receive there as irrelevant, is it really worth it? I think not. I wish I had been warned against attending and instead just enrolled in the actual college here. I was virtually debt free until that fateful decision to check out UoP. Even if you are just checking it out, they can have you enrolled before you know what hit you. Yes, it was my decision to go but I wish I had known what a colossal waste of time and resources it would turn out to be.

I was very excited to return to school to finish my degree after a few years of being away from college to raise my family. The enrollment process was fantastic, my enrollment specialist was super and during the enrollment process when I had financial aid or technical questions, they were available and quick to help. That is where it ends.

Once I was "in" everything went downhill. My first couple of orientation courses were fine, but once I started in my core courses I realized the instructors were not there to teach but rather to grade assignments and their grading is speculative at best. It is based on their interpretation of the syllabus, their personality and if you ask questions ahead of time to avoid a misinterpretation, you will either be ignored, they will answer you at the last minute so you will already have the assignment done or they will answer you with another question or be very vague so you still have no real answer.

I will add right here that I have finished 6 courses with UoP now and I have a 3.8 GPA so my issue is not with my lack of desire to want to do the work. I have used two personal days from work, stayed up until 1 am on work nights, many times and it has never been because I was procrastinating or didn't want to do it. It has been because I was waiting on proper instruction, an answer I never received, or struggling through new material I was teaching myself by watching YouTube videos or reading articles on Google.

The instructors do not really teach... they just pop in every once in a while to toss in their two cents on a discussion post and grade assignments. Then, there are learning teams. Which are a horrible idea. Without getting into a whole lot, you are placed in a group with a bunch of strangers to do a group project, sometimes over the course of the entire 5 weeks and your grade is based on you AND their work. So if they do D work, you get a D too. If you do A work and they do D work, you just handed them an A. It is not graded on participation in the group... but actually grades produced. You can ensure everyone gets an A, including yourself by just doing the work of 4 or 5 people yourself. And that is essentially what the A students end up having to do to keep their GPA.

Then there are the once a month technical problems when you can't get into your classroom. Tools not working and no one will fix them, but you will be billed $140 per course resource fee... which brings me to my next point: FINANCIAL AID. UoP currently owes me $2800, and I can see by reading the posts on here that I am not the only one. I filed a complaint with the Dept. of Education Nov. 3rd as my money was to disperse on November 1st and they have been screwing around and making up excuses for weeks now. The best thing I got yet was this past Thursday.

I scheduled a leave of absence for the month of December to spend time with my family over Christmas. You can take courses off without it affecting your financial aid. The only thing it affects is disbursements. If you have a disbursement scheduled while you are on a leave of absence, your money will not disperse until you come back. I was not in that situation because my disbursement date was November 1st and I scheduled my LOA to start November 29th.

Well after getting excuse after reason after excuse about why I have not received my disbursement on the date it was supposed to disperse (November 1st) I received an email from the person "working" on my ticket that said I need to be aware that if they get my financial aid "packaged" and schedule a disbursement after next week, I will not get it because I will be on a LOA and their policy manual says I can't have it. Then they continued on to email me the policy manual to read. I can see where this is going. I am never getting my money back, and they will probably find a way to say I owe them when I withdraw after this course is done next week.

They currently have me locked out of my account tab. When I click on it to see my financial statements, it says my account is "under review" and it's been that way for weeks. I took screenshots of everything before they locked me out though, so I am not worried. :) I have already been in contact with my attorney, and FAFSA says my student aid has been done on my end for months and sent to UoP. In my time self teaching on Google these past few months, I came across several articles indicating that UoP has been sued for this at least twice. Let everyone's reviews on here be a warning to you if you have not enrolled yet... Don't!

My financial counselor was a bloody joke. The only time I ever heard from her was when it was time to pay for an upcoming class. Now see, here's the thing: I would get emails demanding payment for an upcoming class, right when I am in the second week of a specific, five week class! I wouldn't even be one third of my way through one class, and these jerks would demand payment for a class that I won't be taking for almost a month! I'm in an IT related degree program, and have learned nothing useful. NOTHING.

Over the last three classes, I literally have learned NOTHING of value; the class that I am in is nothing more than a rehash of that which I learned TWO CLASSES AGO, right up to and including identical final assignments - I DO love having to complete the same logical and physical network diagrams, for the same network, twice.Ooh, ooh, OOH! Lets not even get into their wonky credit transfer policy: I've already completed a Bachelor's degree in one field, and as such have already completed lower division (100 and 200 level) classes - 60 credit hours worth, all of which with a b or better.

THESE weirdos, when I started with them, wanted me to take the classes I had already finished with a B or better, AGAIN, with no explanation as to why I need to retake the same classes. What is even more infuriating is the fact that, during the second week of class, I started receiving emails demanding payment for my NEXT class. That's right! I didn't even finish the second week of the class I'm IN before UOP tried to shake me down for the payment for my NEXT class.

Add to this the fact that more than half of the class is plagiarizing information for their postings (one clown plagiarized every single one of his postings for the last four weeks - from places such as Wikipedia, Microsoft, and howstuffworks, and nothing has presumably been done to dissuade his theft in spite of the fact that I have informed the instructor of this plagiarism on more than one occasion.) I am not impressed AT ALL at how this crap degree program has gone. THIS IS DISGUSTING. I am DONE.

I attended UOPX from 2012-2016. I have never been to another college so I can't really compare, but my experience was wonderful. I am a veteran and utilized the GI bill. I did run out of benefits and had to pay $1200+/- out of pocket but it was mostly due to an oversight on my part. You can double up on courses and attend for 2 nights a week if you are attending a ground campus. If you do this for 6 months then you will have GI benefits remaining.

Reading the reviews on here has shown me a solid trend. Most of the negative reviews pertain to financial aid, student loans, etc. I don't think you can rate someone poorly based on that alone. The education does have merit in my opinion. Nine out of ten courses you will be in a learning team, which builds camaraderie. The learning teams are not always the greatest, but I still think it's beneficial. I personally do not like taking courses online so I can't comment on those.

As a full time working adult I obtained my bachelors degree in business management in 4 years. I took a 3 month break in there and doubled up on classes here and there. My GPA is a 2.5 and I probably spent about 10 hours a week on it (4 hours were in class). My classmates would say that I am smarter than the average person. I would say that anyone can do what I did and have a degree.

I dropped out of high school in the 10th grade and obtained my GED when I was 21 to join the military. I do not find education to be the most essential thing in life and only viewed my education as a means to make money (Post 9/11 GI Bill). That said, I still think the education has merit at this institution. In order for me to find something interesting and put my time into it, I must be challenged. I did not find most of my time challenging, but many of my classmates did. I could have invested more time and easily gained more knowledge out of this institution, but I did not.

In summary, if you put the time in at UOPX it can be a very rewarding education. If you just do the bare minimum you have to, then you will still learn many things. If you are working full time or raising children, then this place is for you. If you are fresh out of high school and expect to be babied and for someone to hold your hand along the way, this is not for you.

I went to school few years ago. I thought I had paid off my student loan debt, however 9 years later I found out that is not the case. I received financial aid and pell grants that covered all of my educational expenses. However, after a few months I realized I wasn't learning much of anything there so I transferred to better school. The University of Phoenix was obligated to send the state back any money that was not used. In this case, I withdrew from my math class before I transferred. However, the University of Phoenix then turned around and charged me for the money that they were legally required to send back. Now I have an outstanding balance of $1362.00.

I have had a financial audit done on the account, but no resolution. I've decided to go back to school, but now I'm having to pay this before they'll release my transcripts in order to do so. This is from an email I received in regards to my financial audit. They clearly write out "Funds Returned to Lender." It's important to note that I didn't attend a day of this class. Title IV Loan/Pell Grant funds disbursed ($8,650.00). Student payments ($389.00). Internal adjustments ($45.00). Total credits ($9,084.00). Tuition/Fees $7,781.00. Credit balance funds to student $1,009.00. Funds returned to lender $1,656.00. Total debits $10,446.00. Account balance $1,362.00.

I'm confused on why money is being charged when 1) I didn't attend the class and my account shows a "W" for withdrawal. 2) The funds were returned to my lender, but if I legitimately owed that amount, then legally they should've been allowed to keep it. I have no idea how long this is going to take to fix or if it's even fixable. Unfortunately, like most people it's easier to pay it off than to try and argue over it. I just need my transcripts so I can better my life.

This was one of the most frustrating, upsetting, and disappointing experiences I've ever had with a company. When I first called, my representative was very nice and enthusiastic and seemed to really know what she was doing. She was encouraging and seemed like she was going to help me get everything figured out. I was on maternity leave and I had a 2-month-old at the time that I started all of this. Well, he is almost 5 months old now and I still haven't finished the enrollment process!

The first problem was that I told her that I was wanting to major in HR Management, but she insisted that I try a different program because "it'd get me finished faster." I wasn't thrilled with that, but she said that it would tack on a LOT of extra courses to get what I wanted. Then, I had a C-Code (which nobody could really explain to me, so I had to look it up myself and ended up contacting FAFSA personally to find out what was going on with it). That's not their fault, it's the government - I get that. What I don't get is why nobody felt the need to relay this information to me initially.

I was also assigned to a financial aid advisor that was no longer with the company, and an academic advisor that was "doing a special project." I was trying to figure out who I needed to talk to in order to have something sent to my loan company stating that I was attempting to be enrolled full time, so that I didn't start getting charged for my past loans. My "representative" kept giving me phone numbers to call, rather than communicating with her peers herself. What's the point of a representative if I'm making all of the phone calls? So I'm told that I need to fill out a series of paperwork and send in my transcripts (for the second time) for unusual enrollment to take care of this C-Code. So I get everything ready, but then I'm told that I shouldn't send it until we know what the C-Code actually is. So then I was waiting again.

Meanwhile, my initial start date came and went. My rep told me that if I wanted to start, I could pay out of pocket. If I could pay out of pocket, I wouldn't be trying to get Financial Aid. Needless to say, I told her to push my start date. After me asking about my "team" again, I finally got a Financial Aid rep who told me the "research team" was working on my account. Another week later I was told that they needed my unofficial transcripts (third time, now). Another week went by and I inquired about why I still hadn't heard anything. She said that they were waiting on my unofficial transcript from one of my prior colleges (fourth time) and I corrected her and reminded her that they've had them this entire time. Then she said she needed it for this fall semester from the school I withdrew from in order to go to UoP!! By this point, I was getting infuriated. I wanted to know what was going on and literally nobody could give me answers.

So I called and spoke with a manager who told me that she would send me her contact information, but never did (to her credit, she did call me later to follow up after she got my "teams" butts in gear). They finally found out that the C-Code was "only verification" (which simply means that the SCHOOL can request extra info if they so choose, it has nothing to do with the government taking their time, as I'd been told multiple times was the problem). They requested a copy of my marriage license, so I submitted it on 10/03/2016. It is currently still "Under review" by the research team. This was an awful experience. I have withdrawn from the college and am going to be attending an online program through a local private university for the degree I actually WANT, and they got everything (including the C-Code) taken care of within two weeks. Don't bother.

It has become a constant battle to get my financial aid funds and scholarship funds. Every time the UOP owes me money, I have to call every day for months before I get it because, according to them, your account has to be reviewed every time they owe you money. They owe me money from months ago and they continue to put me off. I finally ended up withdrawing to go to a different university where I might be able to get my money when it is owed. Now I am starting over the review process with UOP because I withdrew... more months of waiting. I definitely would not recommend. Just as an aside, my GPA was a 3.91 so it's not sour grapes or anything, it was just too much stress fighting for what's rightfully mine.

Moving along. Now that I have entered my second year same problem just a different lie. I made sure that I filled out my FAFSA ahead of time. When I received the notification to sign for my loans. I went ahead and did that the same day so there wouldn't be any problems. When I looked into my account I see two debit memos both for different amounts and a charge of 632.00 for an it class that I took. I immediately contacted my financial advisor for an explanation because I knew that I didn't owe for any classes. I've passed every class that I've taken there and I never missed a day.

She stated that the system randomly sent out debit memos to several students, the charge on my account is also a mistake, and they haven't received my financial aid yet. This sounds like ** once again. There is no way that I filled out information in July and it's been processed and send, but she's telling me something different. It's now almost October and that school hasn't received my loans. Yeah ** right.

After reviewing these comments I now realize that I have created a situation for myself that needs rectifying. I am getting the runarounds about my fafsa and student loans. No real answers. They simply keep requesting that I send in more information and my account is fine one minute then flagged the next. I'm so confused and don't want to get into more debt because of this. I need to know about class action suits, bbb, anything I can because I see right now it's about to be a problem with them. On top of that I'm not learning anything. Need help. How do you comment on other postings for responses, etc?

Take it from a graduate, veteran, and supervisor at my job. You get what you put in, I personally attended 3 different colleges before I found UOP. Personally, I enjoyed it, I learned a lot, it fit my schedule just fine. Who ever says the school is a scam, it's fake, whatever, has no clue what they're saying. Totally bs. They will not tell you anything about the school the degree. It's like walking into Walmart grabbing a roll of toilet paper. The financial aid could take up to 5 months. Yes 5 months. You will never hear from them and they don't have any precise information on when you will get your aid. I enrolled on Aug 16. It's almost October and they are telling me it could be another 6-8 weeks or so until they "review" my paperwork. Then the financial aide told me that if I have not received a disbursement that I would have to pay out of pocket because they have a new system. What kind of crap of a school is this. I'm so shocked right now.

At first all started out well, advisors called me every week to make sure all was well and that I getting back into a good study routine. My first few classes the instructors even called and asked if I needed help. Back in May I decided it would be better financially for me to attend a local school. I spoke with my advisors (academic and financial). I was told from both of them that if I left I would be held responsible for my remaining two classes in that block. I asked "how am I responsible for classes that have not been taken?" Well, come to find out they block your classes into a group of four and allocate your money for those classes. If you take them they get paid for, if you leave during that block you owe UOP. Which does not make sense. They will keep your FAFSA money and you pay them as well, they are double dipping on students.

I have been told that I have to pay for my last class in this block because some of my financial aid money is gone since I took a leave of absence. I filled out my paper work for the leave and was told that my financial aid would not be affected. I now do want to finish my last class. I want to be done with this school. If I do not finish this class I will have to pay and I do not have the money to that. I want to know how to the rest of my FASFA that they have and get out of this class. I want to start out by saying for the most part of my education I have been very satisfied. I am nearing the end of my journey in the nursing program with University of Phoenix. My problem with Phoenix involves the financial aid department. I am suffering a hardship and my house is in foreclosure. I try to contact my financial advisor who is never available to speak with me. I have less than 80 days till graduation with 2 classes left. They have been holding my pell grant money since June because they stated that a certain form required a wet signature. I have attended this program for 3.5 years and neither myself or anyone else has ever been required to do this.

After emailing my advisor and informing her that this was creating a hardship and my house was in foreclosure and I was going to quit school and go to work to save my house she finally responded back. The form she was requesting was filled out in either July or August and I could not remember what I had put on the form. She told me to just fill it out anyway basically at the risk of perjury. This is my money, my fafsa was submitted and approved and they are telling me that it takes 60 to 90 days to receive the funds. As students we work hard, I have struggled to maintain a 3.67 grade point average and for what? It is sad that I have come this far to not be able to graduate, lose my house, and be left with a student loan to pay off. Phoenix honor your students by hiring knowledgeable financial advisors, I could do a better job than her.

The staff was helpful and I got back in the groove of doing homework etc. I told my financial adviser I was transferring over to another college after I received the credits I needed to get in the other school. I also asked her when is my next disbursement? She told me in September of 2016. I reminded her of my leaving and she said I was still getting it. Then when it came down to me leaving she said "you're not getting the money unless you attend another class."

The academic adviser I had emailed me a drop notice for the online class I was taking. I posted all five weeks and did all of the assignments. The instructor didn't mark me for two classes even though I posted every week. I emailed the academic adviser on why I was dropped when I posted for all five weeks? Never received an answer from anybody. They told me I get a disbursement after every four classes, but I notice I started going five to seven months without it within my first year attending. UOP tells a bunch of hype and sell dreams they know they not going to deliver on. I'm so happy I don't go there anymore because I can cause hell on my own. I work at the department of a children's services in my state and at times our jobs can become very busy depending on the time of year. Well I was having a hard time managing this last class with the increase of my caseload. I went from having 20 cases at the start of class to almost 65 cases by the end of the class so yes my school work suffered a little. I tried to explain this to my professor but he did nothing and offered nothing to assist me. I ended up with a "d" in the class which dropped my GPA below what is required to graduate. I was going to try to take the class the following semester. Didn't have the money, didn't qualify for aid. Plus my caseload at work had not changed much so I didn't think I would do much better.

When I tried to enroll after that they changed to curriculum and said I would have to basically start over. The school says it works with adult student. Well at 38 years old with a full time important job saving children from abuse you would think the professor would have given a few extra point assignments or something.

My advise: If you have a full time sometimes challenging job Don't attend this school.

I started the University of Phoneix in September on 2015 for Medical Billing and Coding. In the beginning it was rough but I caught on. My problem came in with this University, when every time I would call I would get very disturbing responses from every advisor that would answer the phone. They would talk to me as if I didn't know anything and almost making me feel like that could disrespect me how ever they wanted to. The more questions I would ask the worst it had became. No one had nothing positive to say always negative, it's like they were in a plot together to damage your experience. I had never been treated that before ever. Toward the end of trying to finish I felt like they were plotting to fix me for having so many questions. Almost two classes left this one Professor I had everything started of great from week 1-4 turned in all assignment, did all home assignments.

I noticed she didn't give me credit for a post that she had missed. I brought it to her attention and she corrected it and told me she was sorry. When week five came, she had done the same thing. Not only she didn't give me credit but she didn't give me any credit for my assignments. It was clear to me then that they were all in a plot to damage my educational experience. I cried for two days straight, my pressure so high I had to be hospitalized due to all the drama they had put me through.

My GPA was a 3.67, it went down to a 2.67 behind one point which left me falling the course with a D+. This damaged me to the core, one reached out to me or anything so that when, they forced me to take a leave so then I decided to withdrawal from this University. I should dropped this school in the beginning, they ruined 11 months of my life. I would never in my years of living tell anyone about this Phoenix because they will regret it for the rest of their life. I know I do worst school in the History....

I started going to this school in 2011. At first it was great and it was challenging. I loved it so I decided to go for my bachelors. I am only 3 classes away from obtaining it too. In about march/April my financial aid and my grants and scholarships are starting to not be on time and are various amounts. Nothing is like it was before. I used to get a scholarship back of $312 back every time I passed a class, but in April I never got it - June never got it. My loans in may were supposed to be credited to my account and disbursed to me. It took until June and the amount did not add up to the cost of all of my classes and materials to what I should have gotten back.

In August It was time to pay for all of my classes again - I got receipted to my account for my loans and was waiting for my fafsa to post but I got a debit memo that processed to my account again for a very low amount of money than I had figured out calculating all of my cost, but that's not even the point. That loan was supposed to pay for my last 4 classes that I had to take yet they debit memo-ed me the money and I still owe for 3 classes because they only paid for one! They are supposed to pay off all of the classes before I get what remains.

I called to ask because I was concerned and they said they still have to wait for my grant before they can use my loans to pay for my classes - if this is the case I should have never got a reimbursement until everything was done. I find it very weird because my grant is never late. They said I just happened to start at the beginning of the fiscal year and my grant will be released by September and it is only one day away. I am pissed that my classes have not been paid for yet and the money is just sitting in my account supposedly. Every single time I call I get the same ** stories. I also have finished my certificate program in April and still have not received my certificate in the mail. When I called she said she the financial aid department is short staffed and they have to verify everything.

Don't waste your time trying to apply and/or attend UoP!! The commercials are enticing and you're lead to believe continuing your education would be a breeze. It isn't. The price they charge for obtaining an online degree is INSANE. You are essentially paying $1500 per class. The source materials alone are almost $200.

If you are someone (like myself) that doesn't qualify for aid from the government, you're forced to either pay out of pocket or get student loans. What they don't tell you about the student loans is you're awarded the loans in spurts. You're essentially awarded half per semester. It's also contingent on you attending a certain amount of course hours (something that was never explained). If that half doesn't cover the cost of that first half of what they call a semester, you have to pay the balance out of pocket. If you're unable to pay the balance to continue your classes, you have to stop taking your classes until you can pay for it.

My financial advisor didn't explain that to me when I applied. They encourage you to take what you think you may need but cannot / will not give you an EXACT amount for the program you're enrolled in. Once you are awarded your funds no one contacts you to give you a breakdown of what costs what and how much (if any) your out of pocket would be. They just suggest you make payments of whatever you want to your student account in the event what you are awarded doesn't cover the cost of your classes.

They do not work with you and are not understanding at all!! If you owe a balance and cannot pay the balance in full, they will report your case to a collection agency days later (even though they tell you it takes 60-90 days before that's done). This type of thing can do damage to your credit! The collection agency will harass you for payment every chance they get either by phone or by mail. This is hands down one of the worst decisions I've ever made. I am $3000+ in student loan debt for just 2 classes I probably didn't need in the first place. If you are considering taking online courses from an university to get a degree there are other legit schools that offer the same program for a fraction of the price.

Things may have been a lot different if they made an effort to discuss things with you in a way you understood. Instead they send you links to online seminars or generic emails. If you do call to ask questions, it's almost impossible to speak to someone and when you do it's as if you're... it's like you're bothering them. For something as major as continuing your education you'd think people would take the time to offer the best service as possible because this impacts the rest of your life. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND AVOID THE UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX AT ALL COST! They are a ripoff!

Everything listed here is true. The financial aid department does not discuss costs with the student when they are enrolling. They say, "we'll cover that later." Financial aid is paid 4 classes at a time. They like to say that your excess funds "are what we get, not what the student gets." Instead of handling balances on accounts they will let it sit there 6 months and then send it to collections. They started hiring idiots who didn't know anything about education so they would believe anything the UOP staff told them.

The program was very easy. I enrolled as an employee in the MBA program. I completed my posts in 15-30 minutes and read a couple hours on Saturdays. It's mainly things that you already know, not teaching of new skills. BTW APA format is not a skill. I wouldn't consider spending 30k on a degree with this company let alone 60k for a bachelor's. The only reason I was attending was due to the fact that employees only had to pay a 40 dollar resource fee, and that was too much for what they provided with their 10 year old texts for the class. The coup d'etat was a text from 2001 in the year 2009. If you really want to save money, just look up the texts for classes that you want to take and buy the book for 100 dollars. Read the book and you've got all the information from the class. Other than that, Phoenix is a waste of time and money.

I would call financial aid to check on the loans and see my grants are already applied. Was told 30 days should receive my reward letter. He was very short with me and told me I should receive a letter so I can accept the funds. He told me I don't have enough to cover my classes so only borrow enough for my classes.

I am very disappoint I came back to this school. I am a single mother of a 7-year-old son and the refund helps us financially. I read a lot of complaints about the school and it instantly made me upset. I notice other schools you would of already signed your financial aid letter and receive your funding. I don't understand why it is taking them so long. They need to be investigated.

University of Phoenix was once a great school. When I started attending years ago, the counselors were helpful and professional and extremely knowledgeable. The course facilitators were actually teachers who wanted to teach. I think now, amid the controversy in recent years, the institution has dropped this standard of excellence and subsequently their quality staff, for reasons I can only guess. Money? Most likely. Attendance is down and UOP has experienced some bad press, so they now have academic counselors that sound like they are straight out of high school or college with no work experience or clue as to how to handle a problem with a consumer, which, in the case of UOP, are its students.

My main complaint right now is the fact that the materials, which used to be free if you opted to take the electronic versions, are $140. Problem is, if we are now forced to pay this fee regardless of whether we have tangible materials or electronic materials, we should have the correct materials for the course syllabus. However, my XCOM285 class recently changed the edition of eBook that it issues for this course and apparently, when doing so, didn't notice that the chapters are not aligned with the assignments in the syllabus.

I pointed this out to my facilitator, who acknowledged it and basically said I should do my best with the discussion points mentioned by her in the class discussion. I later contacted tech support about it who said she couldn't help while class is in mid-session. But when I looked again later, it still was not fixed. It is easy enough for anyone to look at the syllabus and the book issued for that course at any time and see that they don't go together. But no one I have talked to about this seems to know how to help or even how to give me contact information to whomever can help.

I want a refund for the materials, and everyone else who was issued incorrect materials deserves a refund as well. This is unethical and wrong. I am continuing to battle this, while also trying to finish my degree, as I am only three classes from finishing, but at the risk of retaliation (I hope there will be none). I thought others should know what they are in for if they are considering enrolling in this school University of Phoenix online.

First thing's first, I have received my B.A. at an accredited university and I decided to attend UOPx to receive my Master's in Education. Many reviewers are receiving their B.A. from this school which I hear is a horrible decision since no employer or school will even acknowledge this as a "school". I figured since I have an actual degree, getting a credential in Education would be ok and employers can see that I took actual class and went to a real school. Haha.

The problem I have had for a year now and three times in a row is the financial aid process. I have dealt with horrible FA during my undergrad years but UOPx beats them out by A MILE. This place is so sketchy and probably 95% of us attending right now have not received our disbursements and they are months late. I am talking 1-3 months late. The school claims there is a systems error because of the new program and they are not communicating correctly so those of us who have turned in our paperwork for FA are getting notices that we have not.

ALL the advisers have no idea what to do and we get the same exact answer, "everyone's situation is different" and "I would be happy to have your financial adviser take a look at your concern for you". It is all smoke and mirrors. We have all complained and bombarded the help section, demanding answers and our money. We have not received any email or quality control. It is pathetic and ridiculous. I cannot even complete this review on my internet and have to use my phone data because these people have not sent my disbursement so I could use that money for school supplies...such as opening my new internet account up.

Some people are on the verge of going homeless because they budgeted and were counting on this disbursement to come through on time. I was told this situation would be fixed by 8/6...not one damn thing has been fixed. This is the THIRD time I have gone through something like this and I am on my very, VERY last class and have student teaching left. This school is ripping us off and trying to take as much money from us as possible by hoarding our loans. I am beyond unhappy with this school and I was so blinded by quickly trying to further my education and career that I did not look at this school for what it really is. Worthless. Save your time. The instructor only graded about a 1/4 of my paper and stopped leaving comments and telling me to apply the comment throughout the other four pages. Not only was the paper not truly graded; I'm not a teacher and should not be left to "finishing" grading my paper. So my grade was only based on the first page and half.

Through out the course my so called professor was little to no help and insulted my intelligence on numerous occasions through private messages. When I brought this up to my academic advisor he told me there wasn't much I could do but to make a ticket and then it would have to go through a review board for processing. I sent the emails and screen shots as requested but never heard anything. Then after the class ended contacted my advisor again to check on the complaint and was told there was nothing that could be done due to the class ended and that the info would be put in my file.

Then I found out I was on academic probation because I got a C in my class and was not upholding the requirements for the program GPA. It was my first class and I received a C not a failing grade. I also HAD to take a month or so off so that my academics and with standings could be sent to a board for review to determine if I would be "allowed" to continue as a student. Skip forward a few months and my next couple classes started but still got nothing about my financial aid. I called and was told to continue with my classes and the school should receive the funds soon. After my class was almost complete I finally got confirmation my funds came out.

Now months later I get an email saying to do an exit consult and to contact my loan provider for set up of paying back my loan. I called and emailed my academic advisor and he was not in his office and would return later on in the week. So I was given the name of another advisor to speak to. I was told that I was in good academic standings and that is all he could tell me. He then told he could not help me with my financial standings and to contact my financial advisor. When asked for the information he told me to go in my profile and that could better help me. After emailing back and forth between three advisors, I took matters into my own hands because I was getting no where; and called my student loan provider to confirm some information I had received in an email.

I was told by my student loan provider that they have NOT been contacted by my school at all about funds being sent back or the "withdraw" status that I did not approve. When bringing this up to my financial advisor in a phone call today he told me, "We notified your loan provider one the 2nd of August (which is when I spoke to him originally) and that it takes 30 days to show to your loan provider that the money is being returned and goes through the Department of Education".

After asking a few more questions not only was the guy rude and insulted my intelligence; he told me that I would owe the school money because more money was sent back to the school than what was received for the classes. I said why would I owe you money? He responded with, "Because you did not complete the credits for the money received and we sent back what the lender requested back." One I did not complete the class because it did not start yet and two your school withdrew me without consulting or contacting me first. When trying to speak to the financial advisor he keep saying I did not understand and that I did not communicate things well.

On a second call he told me that I got the information messed up and he didn't tell me I needed to pay money back. He did tell me I needed to pay money back because I was choosing to withdraw. Again I tried to tell him I did not make this choice you made it for me. He told me if I wanted to continue he could not guarantee he would be able to get my all funds back to cover my classes. Then says, "Oh well it looks like you would have 140", so again if I would have had 140 left over; why do I owe the school anything? I don't! Bottom line after spending the last week sending emails and phone calls back and forth I had no other choice but to not continue my education with UOP. This was the worst experience I have ever had with an higher institute of education!

I have just started attending the UoP online last month. I am do well in my class with an A right now, but have been having problems with the financial aid department. I've spoken to 4 different people so far, and they have all told me different things. The last person, Christine, got an attitude with me and wouldn't let me get a word in. They said everything is good with my account, they're waiting on the money to be released from the lender. That's what the 1st and 3rd person said to why it's taking so long to apply my loans to my account.

The 2nd person said that I just came out of review "yesterday" and it will take about 3-5 days to post to my account. Well those days went by, and I called again. The 4th person, Christine, asked was it that I am waiting on my excess, and told me my account is in a 2nd review after they told me everything was done... No, I want to make sure I am really being awarded loans and won't waste my pell grant just to withdraw due to not being able to get loans... that's understandable. I mentioned how there were tons of former AND current students going through the same thing, and their stories didn't end with them ever getting loans, but a bill instead.

She told me to just stay in class and keep moving forward without the money right now... I mentioned the lawsuit from 09 and she told me that information was false... Her words "You need to check your sources, because no one won a lawsuit against us." I said "so you guys didn't pay about 79 million to settle..." She said, "People sue all of the time, but our school was never hurt by any lawsuit."

Needless to say I told her that I would like to just withdraw at this time, to which she replied "you're going to owe the school." I let her know that I am well aware of that, but I rather owe for 1 class for 1380 than 66,000. It's weird to me that my two grants were applied to my account with no problem, but my loans are taking so long. This is not my 1st or 2nd student loan, and though I know every school is different things aren't adding up. Stay away from this school if you don't want your time wasted. I read the same reviews as mine, but disregarded them thinking the same thing wouldn't happen to everyone. I am taking heed to the warnings and getting out before it's too late!

At first glance the University of Phoenix appeared to be a great place to advance my education. I was sorely mistaken. I was enrolled for my associates in psychology at the time. The classes were terribly constructed. The instructors knew nothing of the subject at hand. They continuously insulted my intelligence, while failing me for simply proving them wrong.

I remember one conversation regarding cognitive dissonance. The teacher told me that the mental stress one experiences while being presented with information that conflicts with their beliefs isn't attributed to cognitive dissonance. That's a basic principle of psychology. I wanted to slap the degree off of her wall, assuming she actually had one. Instead, I remained calm and presented her with the facts, citing Leon Festinger himself. She had no idea who he was (He's the one who founded the theory of cognitive dissonance).

I was later found to be in poor standing due to not passing my "intro to psychology" class. They wanted me to repay them money for this; $3,800 some dollars. I would have been more than happy to pay them if I was at fault, i.e. failing a course, dropping out, etc. I certainly wasn't going to pay them because some instructor had difficulties teaching a course and was insulting my intelligence. After a few rounds of conversation they decided I didn't have to pay them anything, and we came to an agreement. I, of course, did repay the financial aid portion of the expenses.

Now fast-forward three years to the present day. I receive a call from some debt collector stating that I needed to pay $3,865 to the University of Phoenix. It seems they "forgot" that we had come to an agreement. I'm still in the process of dealing with this and probably will be some time. They are incredibly greedy and care nothing for education.

These people do stand not for education. All they want is money. They only mitigate academic progression at the expense of their students. Do yourselves a favor; save your time and money. It will be better spent at nearly any other university without a doubt. I cannot stress this enough. Do not attend this poor excuse of a college. A micro-degree will be worth more than anything from University of Phoenix. Good luck to everyone on their academic journey!

I started school at the University of Phoenix online in 2011 because I was pregnant and I wanted to make a good life for me and my son. I received my associates degree and was 2 classes away from having my bachelors degree when I was suspended for not completing my 1st field experience class. I had a hard enough time making sure that I got the hours that were needed (175) because I am a single mom who has to work to take care of my son. I had about 170 completed and approved by my instructor when I was told that my hours were not going to count and that I had to redo them. I had 2 weeks to finish. Well that is not even possible! I was then suspended and kicked out of school.

I am now $50,000 in debt because of the loans and The UOP turned me into collections for $800. My degree is useless and I can't even transfer my credits to a different school to finish my bachelors degree! I was 2 classes away and they screwed me over! Please do yourself a HUGE favor and stay away from the University of Phoenix!!!

So I have been attending the UOP for sometime. I became interested because I wanted to further my education and had children so I could not attend an actual campus. I completed an Associates, Bachelors and Masters (satisfied all credits 36 but my GPA is 2.95 so according to UOP I have not passed). I started to realize that they charge way too much (I am over $100,000 in debt with all 3 programs), the instructors are not that savvy and I have not learned anything that I did not already know going into the programs. The academic advisors change every 3 months and the overall service is horrible.

I am currently trying to seek out a lawsuit against the UOP. I have already taken 1 class over to satisfy my GPA for my Master's Degree but because you work in learning teams their performance affects your overall grade. When I spoke with the academic counselor who is actually suppose to support me and help me, I was told that in order for me to graduate I would have to pay to take the class over and get an A in the class.

I explained to the counselor that I understand however I cannot afford to pay for another class and I am already in debt beyond belief, is there anything else I can do? He said no I would have to sit out for 6 months (which I have done previously) and then put in an appeal. Once approved I would have to get financial aid (another loan) or pay out of pocket (money I do not have), take the class and get an A (which is not possible because of the learning teams).

I am completely over it with this school. I have paid so much money and I am in so much debt that I want to cry every time I think about it. I need to get my degree. I satisfied ALL 36 CREDITS! There has to be something else that I can do. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. In the meantime I am going to reach out to as many other outlets that I can to see if there is anything else I can do.

University of Phoenix (UOP) exists only to take your money! Over $20,000 for two years! I went through the program, but learned very little. I am not the only one who thinks this way. Most of my classmates feel the same. The teachers are highly unqualified and the students go along with it, just to get the certificate. I tried to rationalize that once I got my degree, I would learn on the job. Wrong! You need to pass many state tests to get the credential. Then you can get a job.

I finished the program and still have not been able to pass some of the tests (TPAs). I have been using YouTube to learn the information I was supposed to learn at UOP. If you do decide to attend, evaluate the program the first two weeks you go there, and you will see what I mean. I complained to my state representative, but he can't do anything. Maybe this UOP is owned by government officials and have much at stake to get rid of this school. Do research on this school. Let the buyer beware!

I was frauded... I am a licensed massage therapist, I make 30 an hour but can only work a max of 5 hours a day four days a week. My rent is 1575... I make 2000 a month. Why would I quit that to start in a lower position and work my way up... Isnt that what education is for, so you dont have to work your way up? I owe 120,000 dollars and I have three kids. I cant buy a house cause my debt to ratio is too high. Cause of student loans... Wow... I cant start a new business cause Im Poor and A 590 credit score. And to make matters worse now Im overqualified for certain jobs. I dont want to talk to people and act like I like them "networking". I want to apply and land the job.

I was frauded from my money which is due in January for the student loans... This school is good if you already are in a profession and need to go up later... DO NOT GO IF YOU ARE SWITCHING PROFESSIONS OR HAVE NO EXPERIENCE IN THE DEGREE FIELD YOU ARE STUDYING. I was a certified nurse aid for 15 years and want what everyone wants, a future for my kids money to support them. Ive never made over 25,000 a year. Hoping UOP would change my life... Lol JOKE. If you are poor go to trade school... Or go to an established school so you dont have to talk to people out of state.

Their Alumni website is awful and their response is it will get better... FRAUD... I just saw an ad from UOP that says they are number three or 2 in country to have job placement after graduation... I find that hard to believe... Like I said fraud the reviews are real. The education is good but like I said no experience no job. No job placement from the school no help. Just a referral to a low budget indeed fake Alumni website with jobs for warehouse... cna... and other low qualifying jobs. I guess I'll go work with my husband at a warehouse.

No complaint without a solution... Here is your solution UOP... Help your students find careers like most schools do. Have real people face to face help with footwork. Whats the point of an education without a career or real guidance. Oh yeah mentors that dont respond... "Sorry our website was down, its fixed now". You guys have said that since 2008... Thanks for the venting consumer affairs. I hope everyone listens... Good education, no caring about students. Oh and not everyone sits on their behind wishing for a job, some people are active and I guess have the wrong networking connections. Thats right folks the most popular lands the job!!!

I wasn't expecting much from Phoenix to begin with but this school is bad beyond what I even thought possible. I can honestly say all the horrible things you hear about this school are true. I have previously attended other schools both online and in person. I am aware of how the financial aid process works in most schools. Phoenix, however, is a whole new world. They have lied to me on several occasions about their verification process and have lost my paperwork only to have me submit it again 2 weeks later. These are not even the biggest issues however.

I have been trying for the past five months just to process my financial aid with their financial department. I was encouraged to start classes without financial aid. I initially questioned this because I had not received my financial aid award yet and was not sure what would be covered. I explained grants and loans were the only way I could attend school. Week after week, I called the financial aid department for updates and was told they were still processing my information and had no updates. Two months ago, I tried to leave the school because I wasn't even sure they were still processing my financial aid. I was immediately told I would be billed for the classes I had taken and would have trouble with the department of education and securing loans if I ever wanted financial aid again.

The whole situation feels very much like entrapment. They allow you to begin classes, drag their feet on your financial aid, scare you into staying, then bill you when the situation get out of hand and you try to leave their school. As of today (almost 5 months since I began with the school), I still have no word on my financial aid status despite weekly calls to anyone that will listen. The school treats everyone like a number. If you have an issue where one department need to contact another for an answer they have to submit a ticket which then takes at least 5 days to get a return response.

The instructors are not actual professors. I have yet to locate a single one with any training in education. They are poor communicators and vague with assignments. Assignments are not relevant to the degree plans. I am taking certification classes yet all I seem to be doing is writing papers that are irrelevant to the material needed to pass the certification exam. This is not a good school and desperately needs to be shut down. They use scare tactics to retain students and are cheating people in so many ways. They are the education equivalent of payday loan companies. I cannot stress enough how bad this institution is.

I have been attending the University of Phoenix for almost 4 years with little to no breaks to just get my degrees out of the way in my youth. I have earned one degree and am halfway through a bachelors. The classes were very educational and I do not agree with the other negative reviews about the content not being understood. If you read all of your textbooks, the content in participation forums is easy and you can create your own educational posts for participation counting. As for the school representatives and staff, they have been extremely helpful to my course stay here at the college. I do agree with one other review here that states the classmates seem dumb and are passing classes here. I see many errors in their writing and yet see them at the graduation class.

I have had difficult professors that demand a high writing ability to active, grammatically correct, formatting dead on, and mathematical equations right in written classroom forums to be counted towards your grade and overall quality points in your transcripts. To me, this matters to be spoken about against the negative reviews here that others are leaving. I loved campus life in high school and enjoy the silent solitude of working where ever I am or in a noisy environment with family. Online college has made working family life possible to achieve a higher level of education and yet I really wish many of my classmates had brains, I just focus on the main goal.

The main goal for me is to lead the conversation into an intelligent conversation that hopefully my classmates will pick up on and for me to graduate while creating high quality work. I had one professor who was from Florida that reminded me of a smart hippy guy in law enforcement. Very dedicated to the most intelligent conversations I ever had. And one who hated my math posts for making one wrong error. My overall satisfaction is good, but I hate the online math classes. I never in my life experienced the computerized program expects you to know it all or else you fail. The math classes are devastating for some and really difficult even for the smartest students.

I would hope that in the future they make it not so insane when you get one equation step wrong that they quit adding on more and more problems that make it never ending. Very poor design that does not teach students how to do the math, but instead making it lengthy. Those were my only three issues with the school. The professors lack of pushing for writing excellence in online class forums, the amount of stupid posts by students that makes the classmates appear uneducated (which annoy me), and the online math class set up. The school could greatly improve this by having a better system and a higher quality level approach to teaching students math that are struggling.

I have a Ph.D. in Geosciences, and I was excited to sign up for a University of Phoenix class in Environmental Law. I had previously taken an Environmental Law class at the Colorado School of Mines that was taught by a lawyer. It was a great class, and I was hoping to have a similar experience online. Boy was I wrong. For one thing, the instructor wrote messages to the class that didn't make any sense. I'm not talking about an occasional misplaced comma or a misspelled word here or there. I am talking about posts that were so poorly written that I could barely understand what she was trying to say. I have never seen anything like this at any brick and mortar institution, including two community colleges.

I looked more closely at the instructor, and it turned out that she was a former high school teacher with no Ph.D. or law degree and no experience in the environmental field. Furthermore, it did not appear that she had any specific expertise in the very complicated field of environmental law. I wondered why this person would be teaching a junior-level environmental science class. Another problem with the class was that the teacher graded in a way that reminded me of something from high school. For instance, I received a poor participation grade presumably because not enough people responded to my posts. What is this, Facebook? I have taken other online classes before, and never has my participation grade been based on how many other students "like" my posts.

A final issue that I have with the University of Phoenix is that they clearly don't care about trying to improve the situation. I tried to call a couple of people to complain. At first, the enrollment person couldn't even tell me how to do that. I literally had to ask several times. Finally, I was able to get into contact with some sort of administrator (as opposed to a department head or coordinating professor). It was clear to me that the administrator was not interested in hearing about what I had to say. Instead, the administrator literally wanted to start arguing with me about how I shouldn't receive any participation points unless other people respond to my posts.

This whole experience leads me to believe that the University of Phoenix is not interested in listening to student feedback or in improving the quality of their courses in any way. I think that they just want to make money and hire the cheapest instructors they possibly can. I also unfortunately ended up losing a lot of money on this course. Please don't make the same mistake that I did!

I am currently attending Phoenix University. I first started in 2013, had to stop for a year and then return in 2014. When I started in 2013 I took two classes at once over 10 weeks and the classes were actually very educational and informational. The second time I returned it was one class per 5 weeks and you are put with a bunch of people that have little-to-no intelligence. I now am one class away from having my associates in accounting. But the last year-and-a-half that I've been working in school it's been a joke. They made me take the same class 4X, just call it something different.

Another thing is I've switched my degree program and I wanted to do it at an earlier date and I was advised not to and to wait and because of that I had to take an extra class that was now required by them which was one of those four classes I had to take the same time over again. The teachers could care less and I would fight back. I now have a lot of student loan debt that I shouldn't because I had a government agency that was sending me but they wouldn't accept the payment until our year in but there is loan forgiveness especially regarding them. They tried to hold on to money of mine that I took out and give me BS reasons why they didn't disperse it but once again I did not accept that.

Within three months they switched my financial advisor and my academic advisor 5 times because I guess they couldn't deal with somebody that I actually knew what they were talking about. I know they ended up having a big meeting because my government agency called and stepped in and the result was that they cut the check right away and teachers were fired for not doing their job properly and me basically having to teach one of the classes just to pass. Currently they didn't want to approve my last class and I have their "Phoenix scholarship" which isn't really a scholarship, it's just a percentage off if you pass the class and the requirements for classes and six months.

My government agency advisor send the voucher 3x and they said they didn't get it the first two. They extended my time to complete my classes and the allotted six months so they are purposefully trying to make sure I lose that scholarship. I'm taking my last class starting next week finally and once I pass I'm going to look into another school to get my bachelor's and completely intend to fight for the money that they made me take out which they probably made plenty of interest on. To be completely honest I learned maybe out of all those classes 5% of the knowledge I now have and everything else I knew already.

Once I get the piece of paper that means nothing from them called my associates. I'm taking them to higher powers whether it be the news, social media Better Business Bureau, congress, et cetera. I'm not paying back all that money in student loans that I didn't have to take out in the first place, not happening, and now I have interest on top of it. It was decent in the beginning because it was flexible and it was actually classes you learn something in but when I returned a year later it was a complete joke. I've been fighting with them over instructor grades, financial affairs since I returned and I'm going to continue once I graduate.

I refuse to accept their negligence as far as teachers and material for learning among other things. I'm a fighter and I will win and hopefully this will open other people's eyes to what they're getting into and will force Phoenix to reimburse people from a class action lawsuit. I have documented every conversation, recorded every conversation with any advisor from Phoenix, any issues I have with instructors grades, et cetera. Previous and current students will be seeing me soon and hopefully I can get some justice for everybody that got taken advantage of. One thing I'm good at is fighting for what is right no matter what it takes and that's what I'm going to do.

I graduated in 2012 with a BS in IT. I already had over 18 years of experience in IT but as a Hispanic without a degree, very few employers took me seriously. Even with 5 years of verifiable management experience and a stint as a reservist in the Navy, I was having a hard time moving forward in my career. I had just lost my home to Countrywide Financial (a whole other story) and there was some medical issues at home too. I needed to move my career forward. UOPX was recommended by my employer and the Navy so I signed up.

The classes were relatively easy for me since I already knew most of the material. That should have been a clue, but I was just as naive about education as I was about mortgages. (It's a cultural thing, unless you are Hispanic you cannot judge.) After graduation, I have applied for over 100+ jobs. Even with over 25 years total experience no one takes me seriously and even question my resume now (something I did not have to deal with before). Even hiring managers in the company I work for now question my resume and credentials, even though I have a track record of excellence in this organization and the respect of many.

So I am in the exact same IT job that I was in when I started at UOPX, making the exact same money, except I now have close to $80k in debt that I will never be able to pay back and a resume no one believes is true. So no chance of me every buying a house again and no legal resources to assist. Between the worthless degree and the hate against Hispanics (BTW I am an American citizen not an immigrant or illegal) it is virtually impossible to move my career forward, or even get another job. If I get laid off then I am in real trouble.

Unless the government steps in and fixes this mess there is no way out for me and the many in my situation. I am now an indentured servant to the student loan servicers; except that unlike the indentured servants of the past, no amount of work will release me. Even death will only cause more pain to my family, so that is also not an option (not that I considered that but I did check to see what would happen if I died).

Lessons learned... I am writing this as a warning to others out there considering any online school, or any post-secondary education (Particularly UOPX). Here is what I learned from this experience (note none of this will get me a better job). Be very careful and do your homework. It's buyer beware and government sanctioned robbery. Like the wild west, trust no one. Avoid "for profit" institutions at all cost, no matter what they offer you. If it states that it's "non-profit" that's just a legal term and it means nothing. It's still a business looking for profit.

The only schools you can trust are those that are publicly funded by the state they are in, and even those are sometimes scams. Do your research and if you have to take student loans, make sure that you can pay it the year you take it. Do not put them on deferment. You will be sorry. If the per hour charge is greater than $400/cu it's not worth it, unless it's an ivy league.

Treat student loans like credit cards. Pay them off as fast as possible when you incur the debt and when you reach the max you can pay out of pocket, stop until you pay it down. They won't tell you this but Student Loans are toxic debt and will ruin your life moving forward. Avoid them at all costs. Remember that a degree is not a guarantee of employment. So do not bank on making enough money to pay loans back. No matter what they tell you, going to any non-publicly sanctioned/funded institution is not an investment in your future. You are mortgaging your life and getting nothing in return except a worthless piece of paper.

If everyone that is dissatisfied with the University of Phoenix would contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint, we all may get at least some of our money back. I went to UOP for a year. I was so dissatisfied with my classes, professors, stupid students that I was teamed with, and advisors that said everything would get better that I quit UOP. Now they say on top of the debt I have that I owe 3000 dollars more out of pocket. All they want is your money and once they get it, they don't care about you. If you care about getting good grades and work hard, you will have to work even harder because of all of the ignorant and lazy team members that need you to get a good grade. The stupid members of my teams are graduating with a masters in psychology while I had to change schools because I was so stressed from doing my work and the work of the other students.

After each class I would complain to my advisors about the other students and it all fell on deaf ears. The last class I took, I was bullied by one of my ignorant team members because she wanted so bad to be in charge. I was so sick and tired of fighting that I let her take over and I gave up. She turned in the most horrible paper that had so many grammar issues and even had plagiarism in it. I was mortified to have my name on the paper. I thought we would get a bad grade on the paper, but to my surprise, we got an A on it. I knew then that I was not getting a proper education. I am trying to get as many people to tell the BBB their horror stories so that we can get as much money back from this greedy school as possible and to hopefully shut them down.

Being greatly deceived, I decided not to return to class after taking a Leave of Absence. This must have gotten under someone's skin because they Administratively Withdrew me then sent an email a week later demanding payment for Resource Fees. This was my second attempt to complete their MBA program so I honestly tried to give them a chance. This school is only concerned about making money and could care less about your success. The university accepts students who cannot be successful, takes their money because this is only a business and not an institution of higher learning and pressures professors to pass students who cannot do the work. I quit teaching for that reason. As a student, the university did everything possible to make my experience horrible and to keep me taking class after class to complete a dissertation proposal. When I complained about the external reviewer, they assigned a new one who complained about everything approved by the previous reviewer. Do not go to this fake school or you will be sorry. Me and my wife was moving into our new home and I decided to take two weeks off from school to get everything situated. I talked to my academic advisor and told her the date I was going out and coming back into my classes. She put me back into classes a week early and had me a whole week behind. I think the time I was out it was being set up to put me back in school a week ahead. The school switched my academic advisor and financial advisor!

The new advisor told me to drop the class after being a week behind so now they want me to pay $2,000 dollars along with the $24,000 that comes along with the whole program and you know what's funny out of all that? During the whole year and 4 months I never received a refund check after paying for my classes! None! My wife told me that school was a ripoff but I didn't listen but you learn as you live.

Graduated University of Phoenix 2006, Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Still working in healthcare at very low paying job scale. I went to college online, hoping that I would have a door open in healthcare with my Bachelors Degree. Well that didn't happen. Working at $30,000 year job, and still unable to find a job with a Bachelors degree, so long story short. I am in default of my student loans, the loans have been sold like three times now and oh they will fix it for a fee. To the tune of $11,000. Ok, so I started out with student loan that was around $20,000 to now be at $65,000. I quit reading my mail from the Government as who they say someone else has bought my loan and now the amount has gotten so out of control. As I have said, the letters keep coming and it is someone different who has bought my loans and tacks more onto the total amount that I had before.

I am 57 years old and will never be able to get out of debt because of my student loans for which I didn't get a job with a bachelors degree. My credit score and credit rating is so bad, that all I pay things with is in cash. I have gone to attorneys who say they can help, to which they see my credit mess with student loans and they tell me, "Sorry lady, we can't help you." I even work two jobs and am a hard worker. Now I have the Department of Education that got me the student loan in the first place, who has sold my student loans to whoever. Now the Department of Education and whoever they sold my loans to all want my money. If my student loans were sold why are the primary and secondary people coming after me to collect.

All I wanted was a college education to make a better income, instead I have gotten into such a mess. I do have ADD (attention deficit disorder) and I am deaf in my left ear. And my doctor won't sign the papers to send to the Education department as she said I am able to work which I can. The papers say to get your loans forgiven you must be getting disability checks, you can be considered disabled (can't work) and they will forgive your loans.

Well I can work and I want to continue to work and want to for a long time. I just want and need help with my student loan mess. I just want my credit history to be cleaned up as those who had access to my student loan stuff have had free rein on my credit history and credit score. I haven't had a credit card in over 20 years so it isn't that that is making a mess of my credit history. Now I hear they will be taking my social security when I retire and when I do apply for disability WHEN I am unable to work, they will be taking that as well.

Let me first start off by saying, UOP was THE BIGGEST waste of time and money in my entire life. Let's start from the beginning... I signed up for Psychology, but they put me in Business instead. I was told I couldn't change it until at least a year. So I did the 10 months of 15 hour days reading and posting endlessly and literally teaching myself. Then I failed a class. So I was contacted and told I could not resume classes until I paid the failed class in full. 4K for this 1 class which I didn't have so I dropped out of program. Then I received $17,000 bill in the mail for 10 months of school. I paid it all, every penny, they took my taxes 2 years in a row. This was all in 2008.

Now 8 years later they have a NEW $4,000 bill on my credit report. They say I owe in some misc. fees. All for 10 months of nothing, these credits don't even count for anything because whenever I request my credits to be transferred to a new school they find even more magical money that supposedly owe them. Not even in the right classes... And now it's killing my credit scores. I can't get a house, can't get a new car. I am a nurse now! My husband is an Executive Pharmaceutical Rep for Cardinal Health. We have the 4K, the problem is I don't owe it! I refuse to pay this! When I call them and ask what is this $4k misc.??? They say it was for the next class I never attended so I failed it. Well that's odd, because they told me I couldn't attend any more classes until I paid the failed class in full.

Well I never made that 4K payment for 3 years. And they put me in another class without my knowledge so I never "attended" the online rooms, nothing! So how was I to know I had a class when they specifically said I couldn't attend class anymore??? It's illegal!! I've already had them contacted twice by my credit guy and they still refuse to take this off my credit report, it's 100% fraud!! I am a nurse and my entire college education was $9,600! Yet online courses for 10 months is $21,000??? Illegal??? And a scam!!!

Please I would advise anyone even considering this school to beware. I wasn't even allowed to be in the program I wanted in the first place! So I paid $17,000 in loans for 10 months toward my "business" degree, when I signed up for "psychology"!!! And none of the credits I earned and paid for in full are transferrable, they'll tell you that you owe more money every single time you pay them in full. Unbelievable!! I can't believe they are still in operation! I am going to do everything in my power to have them pay for the damage to my credit and my life!! I would like to start a petition on change.org. I see many of you have had similar experiences and I am going to devote Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, every social media I can find across the internet to warn others about this disgusting fraudulent company!

Shut these liars, and law breakers down!!! I will have my day in court eventually, and they will pay for all the damage to my credit, my life!!! 10 months of reading a computer screen in the wrong classes. They want $21,000 now? $17,000 wasn't enough? They'll ruin your credit for life, you're a minute late - they report to every single credit bureau for life! There is no cap on school loans is what they told me. It will never ever ever go away!!

My experience with this school was terrible! I attended medical records in this class online for 5 weeks and in 5 weeks my class work was not graded. I couldn't understand why this instructor graded only one or maybe two of my assignments and the rest was not accounted for. At the end of my class I was told that I failed because my work wasn't turned in and I would have to retake the class all over again due to the instructor not grading my work. How fair was that? And I also applied for FAFSA which they told me I will only get $50. Well the Financial Advisor at the school thought that was funny and so did the instructor Advisor.

I am really upset that I wasted so much time in this school only to fail the first couple of weeks and I could have went somewhere else! I hope if anybody decide to go to school I hope they do not go there. This was sickening that they would treat people the way they have treated us to get cash and make us believe they were being honest.

I feel it is the enrollment advisor's job to let students know the details about their success rates (or failures). That is what they are paid for. Students don't always know what to ask if they are new or older students. My financial aid advisor didn't return my phone calls when I had questions about my MPN and financial aid. When I did get a return call, it was sometime later saying "sorry we missed your call". She claimed she was flooded with students and couldn't take my call. That excuse didn't make me feel better. I wouldn't recommend them.

Where to begin? I am a disabled veteran. I was told my credits from my associate's degree would all count towards my bachelor's. However, the day before my first class I was told I needed to change my degree. In addition, I had both an academic and financial advisor. However, the school thought it was best to give me over six different academic advisors which every time they changed my classes around.

Fast forward a year and some change and the school is on probation and they go from having classes back to back to forcing us to take breaks in between classes. In having these breaks the school started to tell the VA that my five week class went down to just four weeks costing me a $250-$300 cut in my post 911 GI bill BAH. When I spoke with the school they said the VA won't let them submit the full five weeks that we are in class and that if they did the VA would take out more money for my BAH and not give it to me. (All my conversation where recorded).

Now let's go to my last few classes in which my teachers completely stray from how they said they would grade the class paper. Though I have gone through many classes with my teachers not giving proper grades these last few classes have had the same problem and interestingly enough the school just got off probation. In one class I filed a complaint with the school and the VA. My teacher came back in week three and graded my paper with an A along with every paper. After the class, the school said nothing was wrong and I got an A so the matter was dropped. Move onto the math class in which seven students dropped out and only the remaining eight were left in week five. I filed complaint after complaint regarding the teacher's unwillingness to help and with the massive glitches in the math lab.

In week five I managed to get a tutor which was a math teacher for the in campus math and he told me my math teacher was wrong and that he has seen all the glitches I complained about. Now move onto my current class in which again the teacher says one thing and grades a completely different way. In UoP, we need to write our papers based on the APA format and in third person yet the teacher says write in APA and then grades the paper off something that is completely personally.

After I filed the complaint and send the information to the school they sent me back an email through my academic advisor saying nothing is wrong and again the teacher was correct. Heck, this teacher is even saying she is a doctor and she is in the middle of her doctorate and has not even graduated yet. This school is a fraud and a scam. I can continue to go on with the abuse I have gone through. Oh wait, when I tried to get help for my learning disability the school told me I needed to send them my entire medical record more than once. My doctors even told me to never send the school my medical records.

In May 2010 I registered for classes at the University of Phoenix. I applied for a Pell Grant, and two weeks later I was switched to a regular student loan with Dept. of Education with only $867.72. I was credentialed and taught English as a second language in Mexico and Germany. My education is over 20 years old and needed a refresher.

I attended only 6 weeks of the online course and quit. I was not happy with the lack of quality of education. The English course is 3rd grade level and constant plagiarism by other students. I devoted my time and energy to prepare essays on grammar, only to be copied and pasted by other students. I complained, but my complaints were ignored. There were no instructions, no corrections and no evaluations. My perception was that the University of Phoenix employs board monitors and no credentialed teachers to provide competent instructions on the subject. Through my essays, I felt I was the one teaching English.

I had been receiving billing from the Dept. of Education and from University of Phoenix. I thought they were one and same account. I decided to call the University of Phoenix to see if they would release me from the $800 remaining on my student loan. They informed me instead that their bill has nothing to do with the student loan. They were already paid the student loan.

The University of Phoenix is demanding $3,746.40 because I did not complete the remaining classes. Although I complained in writing to the administration and was ignored, I was informed through former student comments that the University of Phoenix destroys these student complaints to conceal these issues from the Dept. of Education.

I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology through University of Phoenix. I started this journey back in September of 2009. I left the program for a while to deal with family and financial hardships. Once getting everything back in order I approached my academic counselor with a question about how many credits I had left to finish within my program and if I could take a CLEP test instead of signing up for another class. I have 2 credits left to finish, that can be done by taking a CLEP test. My counselor then advises me that because I left the program I have to file an appeal in order to get back into the degree program I started.

After filing an appeal and waiting about 6 weeks I got a generic email. I was told that my personal and financial issues were not enough to leave the program and that in order to finish my degree I would have to start with the new program and pay more money. I am livid. I have spent so much money and I feel like a fool. I have 2 credits left. JUST 2, and they can't let me finish. Wish I knew from the start that these people were a bunch of scam artists just looking to screw over anyone hoping to graduate. Now I am stuck with a bunch of credits that I can't transfer, I am in so much debt and I have nothing to show for it.

I have been attending the University of Phoenix since 2013, and I felt like I was actually learning something while they had a nine-week schedule. A few weeks ago however that all changed when they went from a nine-week schedule to a five-week schedule, and now I do not feel like I am learning anything anymore. Now I feel like the University of Phoenix is cramming my education down my throat as fast as they can, and they no longer give a damn whether anybody learns or not. Now it's all about money instead of education, because they just want to get many classes in as they can regardless of the students. DO NOT ATTEND THIS COLLEGE!!!

Retired military veteran using the GI-Bill (25 Years of service) I enrolled in a Business program and the enrollment specialists and financial representatives are quick to get me enrolled and started. Problem occurred when I had an emergency, and needed to withdrawal after attending only one class. I spent several hours on the phone with several different personnel attempting to get some compromise. The only compromise was that I drop the class and am now responsible for the one class that I attended ($350'ish) or continue going to the class and just sign the attendance record at which point they could charge the VA the entire amount.

Note that they had not yet even sent the class info to the VA at this point, of which most well respected entities would be understanding and make an exception to their policy. NOPE. So I do what most student veterans do that don't have the extra $350'ish sitting around, I drove to the class, signed the roster. On the second to last night of the class, I had a personal emergency and was unable to physically go in and sign the attendance paper.

The admin folks were quick to drop me on the spot which I would now be responsible for over $1500'ish. Sound fare? At no single point were any of the personnel helpful in any way whatsoever but to get you signed up and to regurgitate policies. This must be the reason that the University is in danger of being sold due to declining enrollment. Veterans, fellow education seekers, seek elsewhere your education, for this place is a scam.

I enrolled with UOP on 1-19-2016 and took their workshop classes and started on my first week of my course which was Medical Records/Encoding. I then found out about their shady practices by reading the horrible things that they did with students and their tuition money. Absolutely horrible and disgusting. I then withdrew the proper way via their ecampus website. Because I heard so many bad things about this school trying to get tuition money from students although they had already received their tuition money from the student loans & grants, I made sure that I followed up on my withdrawal by contacting Traci ** the Enrollment Rep & Christal ** the Educational Rep. Both of these shady ladies are trying to drag this on so that they can probably wait for the disbursements of my grant & loans. I refuse to allow them to make me another one of their victims. I will fight to the finish!!!

I have created a petition to try and stop this horrible school from taking advantage of students like myself who are only trying to further their education. I think it is despicable the way they are trying to squeeze every penny from the students who don't have many pennies to begin with... very shady school.

After my wife earned her associate degree they automatically enrolled her in the next class toward a bachelor. She told them prior to finishing the previous class that she wanted to take a break for a semester. After checking her email she found out that she was enrolled in a new class. Upon opening the class she found that it was a group study. When she called that day (which was in the first week of the class that she did not enroll in) she was told that all the classes after the associate until she received her Bachelor would be group classes. She then tried again to withdraw from the class. She has yet to receive her diploma, but she has a bill for the full amount of the class (which she was told that she would not be billed for).

She has attempted to transfer credits to other universities and colleges locally (that you actually have to physically attend) and she has not been surprised one bit that none of her classes will transfer to any college. Yet this was another promise from the admissions at UOP. Since she cannot get any of her information (Diploma, transcript, etc.) she cannot find a job using her credentials that she earned but cannot receive. The only reason that I am giving them one star is that I cannot give zero or negative stars. Stay away from this major rip off.

However at this time I have been on a leave of absence for 4 months trying to get my financial Aid cleared to attend classes. It is coming into a new academic year and I'm being told I'm still not clear because I have 2 w-2 forms issued to me by the same job. However my job was never brought out and still have the same owners so how I get two w-2's for one company? I'm not sure. I have contacted IRS and was told that according to their system I was only issued one.

I decided not to further my education with UOP and tried to submit an official withdrawal and was given a red flag stating that I had to contact my financial advisor or counselor in order to do so because I've been out for more than 45 days. Now I'm sure when I contact then I will be told that I'm unable to withdraw so they can charge me for the future classes they have me scheduled for. I need some help. How do I get away from UOP and get back to getting my education.

So now classes start. I did my work but all my assignments the teacher made it as something was wrong, ended falling the class. So I was confused because I never failed classes till I enrolled here.

I ended up getting very sick so I took a leave of absence. I decided to update the days. As I go to update the days I noticed they had me enrolled when my days wasn't up yet therefore my gpa was brought down again, from that I withdrawal and went back to the school I was enrolled with before because it had gotten out of hand. Now I'm on academic probation because of University of Phoenix. Teachers was getting paid when I suppose to been on leave of absence. It was really a waste of time going to that school. I enrolled to the University of Phoenix in April 2015. When I enrolled I explained to the person enrolling me that in June I would have surgery on my shoulder and if taking a leave of absence would be a problem. I was assured and reassured that it wouldn't affect me in anyway. During my leave of absence I spoke to my Financial Advisor #1 (by the way I had 3 different financial advisors during my time in the UOP), he stated that my Financial Aid came in and that my previous class and my next class was paid for. However, my leave of absence lasted longer than expected due to complications after surgery.

During this time while on my leave of absence there was a change in the availability of classes. When enrolled I was told that classes started every Tuesday of the month. However, while I was on my leave of absence it changed. Classes were now only available when offered. Which made my returning process more difficult. In December 2015, I was going to take my next class, but my computer crashed and I was without a computer to take the online class. I ordered a laptop but it hadn't arrived before the date of the class.

I remembered during enrollment I was told that classes started every Tuesday, with that being said I thought to start class the following week. I then was told by my Academic Advisor that my next class is available January 2016 and that the procedure changed. At that time I was informed by my Financial Advisor #3 that I owed for my first class because the financial aid didn't cover it, but he would speak to his supervisor regarding this matter and workout a payment plan for me. But I never heard back from him.

I was then contacted by a VERY aggressive woman that never identified herself and tried to bully me into paying for the class that I thought was covered by Financial Aid and I also asked to speak to my Financial Advisor #3 because he was checking on a payment arrangement for me but I was told by her that I needed to pay it before I take anymore classes with the University of Phoenix. I also spoke to the supervisor of that department who might well call me a liar because he said that none of what I went through wasn't true. And that it's not the practice of that school to reassure you of anything and that the classes never started on every Tuesday of the month.

This is the practice of this school because there were many reviews for this school that stated that this school is known for adding courses, adding charges and changing advisors so that you won't be able to keep up with what is going on. I wish I would have taken the advice that I previously read. If you attend PLEASE BEWARE!!!

If only I could warn everyone about this school, even though they should never be referred to as such. I completed 57 credits and somehow managed to accumulate over $50,000 in student loans, not including my out of pocket expenses. I was consistently lied to about the loans and now I'm so far in debt that there is no end in sight. The enrollment officers are not well trained and provide false information such as what you can do with your degree and will even try to provide financial information. The academic and financial advisors also hide the truth. Out of the 57 credits only 14 transferred, which intelligence is not an issue as I'm a 4.0 GPA student at my other school, which is actually academically credible. The school lies to obtain government money and preys upon lower income individuals. You will struggle to find a job with any degree you obtain from here as the quality of education is comparable to a primary level.

Often teachers do not meet the necessary requirements standards to teach classes so we played a lot of games in class. Tests are never actually given, except a few online one for math. Teachers hand other student papers to other class member to grade. What's the point of paying the teacher if the students are doing their job. If you like writing papers that mean absolutely nothing and not actually read by most teachers than this school is for you. What can you really expect to learn in 5 weeks and still wonder why you can't get a job after attending UOP. When you do need to transfer good luck getting those transcripts as the school does everything in their power to delay that process. Almost a month now, many emails and phone calls and still no response to the documents I need to transfer properly, go figure. Society needs to do itself a favor and ban and discredit this "business" as it is a complete waste of time and massive amounts of money.

Almost 10 years later and I still can't get back on my feet because of this school. No wonder it is such a joke. Did I forget to mention this a school you can cheat to get through because guess what a fellow student got caught plagiarizing and the school received complaints but took no measures to reprimand that student by any means. Numerous complaints were made but that student still got an A. Sadly this institution gives a bad name and creates a fear for others who wish to pursue higher education. There is a reason many celebrities (Family guy, Tosh) and others out there publicly make fun of the school. Do yourself a favor and jump in a giant hole before you attend this school, same principle.

FACTS about the University of Phoenix (UoPX): The Air Force "blacklisted" the UoPX according to a 2015 story in the Air Force Times. This stopped all tuition assistance payments for active duty personnel... In other words, the Air Force refused to pay for any tuition of active duty members who wished to take classes with the UoPX. What does that say about the university? UoPX has not made the Military Times list of "Top 20 Military Friendly Colleges" in many years. Most classes at the UoPX require a "team project/paper". You will be assigned to a learning team and are held accountable for "team" work. There's nothing like getting your grade reduced for the lack of effort by others.

MY STORY: Shame on me! I should've learned from my first experience with the UoPX, but I was fooled again. I am a retired veteran and I was hoping to take advantage of my Post 911 GI Bill with the UoPX. The military rep there was a nice enough guy, but he lacked the skills to be a good rep. He fumbled my paperwork a couple of times and forced me to redo some transcript requests. He also failed to contact me in time to set-up a "mandatory" workshop so that I could begin classes in the next session. This delayed my start-up by 2 weeks. He also seemed overwhelmed or just aloof whenever I spoke to him. He continually asked me how I was going to pay for the classes. "THE GI BILL. For the 3rd time!"

After I got through the mandatory workshop (a 3-day course requiring MANY hours of work), I was once again "mandatory enrolled" in a GEN/201 Class called "Fundamentals of University Success". The class was good for the beginning student, but a waste of time for experienced online students. The biggest complaint I had with the class and the UoPX overall is their complete lack of credibility in grading. This "lack of credibility" was my second experience at the UoPX, so this makes it a trend. The issue is this. The instructors ONLY give you positive remarks on your papers, using words like "Very Well Written", "Very Good Example", and "Great Work". There have never been any "suggestions for improvement" or negative comments on my papers, but then they would follow up the positive feedback with a "meets expectations" grade of a "C" or lower. This was true both times I took classes with them.

After challenging the grade the first time, I initially was told they wouldn't change the grade. But, after threatening to withdraw from the university, the paper was regraded and miraculously changed from a "C-" to an "A". The second challenge of my graded paper is still underway. I've already been told it won't change, but I'm sure that story will be amended once again. The bottom line here is simple. Stay away from this school if you're military. Use the Military Times list of "Friendly Colleges/Universities" to select a more reputable school. A military rep at another university I'm moving to said it best. "The University of Phoenix is our best recruiter!"

I am presently enrolled with the University of Phoenix online classes and my issues are just now unraveling so I am not sure what is going to happen. I have one class and two field experiences left to complete. As a single mother of five (now grown) children, I was so happy to finally be able to get back into school to try to complete my bachelor's degree.

Last April (2015), I started having troubles with the financial aid department with my student refunds. My refund disbursements were always scheduled for April and September. Towards the end of March I started contacting my financial aid advisor about my disbursement. I was told some incredible unbelievable story that I cannot even remember now about why I would not be able to get my refund for the spring semester. However, I was told if I signed a credit form, they would allow me to 'borrow' $1,877.00 out of my 'purported' refund monies. So, this is what I did. I needed the money and did not think it through completely when I signed that form.

When September came around I was waiting and waiting for my financial aid funds to drop into my account so I could see what amount was left for refund to me. By November I was very frustrated that nothing had happened on my account. At this time, I had to take a leave of absence to take care of my terminally ill mother. My financial aid advisor told me to complete my LOA forms, my FAW and my renewal for my student loans. I did all of this and heard nothing more from this person. I waited until last week to contact her to see if I was going to receive my student refund and was told bluntly "you don't have any funds for refund because you did not receive a Pell Grant". I was confused about this because I knew that I had $514 dollars leftover from spring and I also knew that my last class and two field experience classes were pushed into the 2016 academic year which would earmark the 2016 funds that I had applied for.

So there is a balance of 514.00 and what is left after my previous two classes - somewhere around 2,900.00. I was under the impression that what was left over is refunded to the students. However, according to the advisor, the student is only eligible to have Pell Grant monies and this person said I did not receive any for the September disbursement. If this is the case, why didn't I receive the total amount of the Pell Grant in April? I am presently researching this and also comparing this to my daughters' accounts at the university that they attend. There are some discrepancies between UOP and other schools. I am in the process of contacting FAFSA to see why I did not receive the Pell grant monies as well.

Many students attend online college because of the convenience of the study and to help them financially with the student refunds. I am definitely not happy at this moment because I feel that my money is being held by the school for the school's benefit and I have realized that this institution is no longer a benefit to me. I will be officially withdrawing from this school due to this aspect and the fact that my mother is terminally ill and I will have to take care of her. I am looking at it this way, if I cannot benefit from the leftover funds, then neither will UOP - if I withdraw, the money will have to go back to FAFSA. Does anyone else have a similar story?

I stumbled on several other reviews from other students on this subject and it seems to be a general opinion that the requirements are more like a demand. The first math course I passed for my degree was college algebra and now they are trying to make me take another class that is more like calculus. I see no need for this class and was also told I could opt out.

Back in September I started taking the class. After failing to persuade them this should not be required for my degree, things get really crazy. They employ an outside company to do the tests yet it seems that you need to complete 100% of all weekly assignments before you can continue, I would think that the requirements for this should be the same as any other class, and as stated it seems more like a demand! I wonder how many doctors or attorneys would have to do that.

In February of 2009 I started my Associate's degree for Psychology at the school through online courses. I was reassured they were accredited. Up until September of 2010 I did not have a single doubt that I was getting a good education. I was worried about the extremely high tuition rates. But I was told the loan total would come down a percentage based on my GPA. In September of 2010 I had just paid for failing my Algebra 1 classes and had completed a retake of the course. I received a phone call on my mother's death and call UoP immediately. I knew I wasn't going to be able to complete the Agenda 2 course. Since it was the first day of the class I was assured I would not be charged for the dropped class and they understood the situation and would put me on hold until I could get life back together.

A month later I was talking to a third new educational counselor about what to do next. I was informed that I had another two classes to take after the final math class because requirements for the Associates degree changed. Then he proceeded to tell me that unfortunately for me it wouldn't matter because I wouldn't be graduating anyway. No matter what I did. I was convinced to drop the program entirely and seek education elsewhere but that the credits I acquired would still count. Since that point several times a month I received a collections notice for over 2,000$ for the class I dropped that I was assured I wouldn't be charged for.

Not until this year when they settled on a smaller amount did I pay them. Now I am overloaded with 20,000$ + in federal loan debt that I can't pay back because I have no education. So for 1 year and 7 months of classes I owe this much? Are you kidding me? At the end of this I have nothing. I am reading about this lawsuit and settlement and need help to know if I can get help for this. I'm a single mom on a small budget who was trying to make a better life through online education so I could still work and care for me children without Welfare Assistance. Help please!! I was told I was going through the associates degree program, and my second year I would have a 10,000 dollar scholarship to help me with tuition, so I wouldn't have to take out so many loans. Not once was I told that if I fail a class, that I would have to pay out of pocket, or if I withdrew from the University, there may be financial consequence.

Well, guess what? I almost failed a class and was told I would have to pay upwards of 1200 dollars to take it over. Even though I had federal financial aid and federal student loans. Things got really bad with UofP and I asked how I can withdraw. I was told I should contact financial services first to see if there would be any repercussions with withdrawing from the University. Again, I am receiving financial aid, and federal student loans. Why would there be any financial consequences when my student loans should more than cover this? Or, is it because they aren't allowed to use student loans after I withdraw from a class, and now they want to come after me?

In 2009 I was enrolled at University of phoenix, I had a Pell grant and the school counselor stated that the Pell Grant wouldn't be enough to pay for my schooling. So I took out a federal student loan through USA Funds. In March of 2010, I had to withdraw from classes with no disclosed reason. Upon my return home towards the end of 2011 I had found a stack of delinquent bills from USA Funds/Navient. Upon calling Navient and finding out that my loan money had disappeared, after only completing 1 1/2 semester they said I owed them in excess of $20,000 and I told them their facts were completely erroneous and I told them I only completed 1 1/2 semesters. So how does that equal that amount?

After playing the run around game with the school, USA Funds, and Navient, they told me that they had been sending me the school loan money. When they said that an alarm went off in my head. The only money that was ever sent to me was my Pell Grant disbursements, in which I have copies of the voided cashed checks. Now I have never heard a lender of schools loans sending the student any sort of monies to pay for the school, in fact it is to the best of my knowledge the money is sent directly to the school. Now if the case was true that they were sending me the loan money then I would also have copies of those cashed/voided checks, and Navient/USA Funds, Apollo Group, and or the University of Phoenix would have been able to provide those voided checks as evidence to prove their case in point.

In addition to those checks would have my signature on them along with my banking information on them and when they were cashed? When I brought this point up to the numerous of people I talked to regarding this matter not one of them could provide an answer to why they didn't have the cashed/voided checks. Upon doing a lot of research into the University of Phoenix/Apollo Group, Navient, and USA Funds; I have found that I'm not the only one that this has happened to. There is tons of complaints against these companies regarding similar situations throughout the last 15 years or so. There has been several lawsuits against these companies, and just imagine all the people that this has affected and how many lives they have destroyed, including my life. My credit is shot at this point and I cannot financially recover from this damaging effect on my credit.

I am seeking counsel in this matter and I hope to team up with many others that have been put through this disgusting ordeal. I know a body of people have committed fraud within these companies against us as students and consumer, and as a witness to the damage they have caused I think I can speak for everyone in the same or similar situation that I'm going through and we want something done about this. We want justice. In addition to that, I want my life back. I pray in the name of Jesus that this is resolved and restitution is made to all those who had suffered. Please hear our cry out for help.

They did not help me find a job once I completed my associates or my bachelors in accounting. After graduating with my bachelors I decided I wanted to try for my Masters in Elementary Education. Not once did an adviser say that I should probably start at the beginning and work my way up to my Masters for Elementary Education. I have struggled the entire time I was working on my masters.

The school held me up numerous times because they had hoops that I had to jump through, that cost huge out of pocket expenses like testing, fingerprinting (for both Oregon and Arizona), and numerous other things. No one told me how much out of pocket I would have to put in to learning how to be a teacher. Plus I had to take two classes, that I had to pay for out of my pocket, regarding U.S. Constitution and Arizona Constitution. I had a physical education teacher who did not have any knowledge of physical education and was extremely harsh in her attitude toward the class. When I was placed for student teaching last year and had issues with the placement instead of actually listening to what I had to say, they took the side of the school district. I regret going with them. Don't go with them. There are financial aid issues and they do almost anything to get you to join.

I was told last week that everything was good to go with financial aid and that could start today. I've been up since 6am EST working on homework when I get a call around 3pm telling me that there is an issue with my financial aid and that I wasn't approved for Pell Grant money. I spoke with Matt, Enrollment Manager and explained. Then when I spoke with JC, the enrollment advisor, he told me that everything was good to go and I could start class today. There was no explanation of financial aid or the issues with it.

Well he called me back 2 hours later and advised that I needed 19,000 dollars to be able to finish my bachelor's program. I got upset and was in tears on the phone and asked why I wasn't contacted until today with the issues at hand and that I wasted 12 hours of my life working on homework that didn't even matter. All he kept saying was sorry. Sorry doesn't explain why I wasn't contacted or why things were discussed. This school gambled with my life and has ruined it. They don't care about people, all they care about are the dollar signs. All they did was throw numbers at me even though they didn't even matter to the issue at hand. When I told him that I was going to file a complaint, Matt was like "Go Ahead" - no remorse. Then when I got even more upset and said thanks for gambling with my life, he got rude and was like I spent 3 hours looking at this for you. Which was not true since I talked to them at 3pm and it was only 5 when he called back.

I ended up hanging up on him because I couldn't take any more of the lies. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it backfired and I should've listened to the people who told me not to go to this school. They were right. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS SCHOOL SERIOUSLY. They gamble with lives and only see us as a dollar signs. Do your research before you apply here. There are way better schools out there that will care about you not only as a person but as a student. Unfortunately I had to learn this the hard way. I guarantee I'm not the only one that feels this way.

So I first started going to this university back in August 2015. Now during my 3-week course of being able to drop the class I called them and asked about my financial aid and how it was holding up because I didn't want to continue because I cannot pay out of pocket which in response they told me that there had been an issue due to the fact I had got married in April and I didn't not send in my husband's taxes. Which I responded that he did not make enough to file so I have no record of it.

Then they told me that then everything should go smoothly because that's less paperwork for them. Now after the 3-week period to drop they called me the day it ended to see if I still wanted to be in it to which I responded as long as everything is going good with my financial aid I shouldn't have a problem because as I repeated again I would not continue if there was an issue because I do not want to bite off more than I can chew. To which they told me that there is still an issue.

To my surprise I asked "what could possibly be the issue now?!" And surprise surprise the issue was I did not submit my husband's taxes... I told them we just went through this the previous week and I told you guys that he did not file and again they told me there wouldn't be an issue. From there I told them, "listen I don't want to continue if there seems to be an issue with this because I do not want to drown in debt (because I was eligible for the Pell Grant and it paid most of it as long as I kept my grades up which wouldn't have been a problem)." To which they told me if the FAFSA didn't go through I wouldn't be placed in any more classes (which I have emails from them stating this to me). So I said "well in that case I shouldn't have a problem continuing."

Now I was told about 3 weeks into the class is get a disbursement of extra funds which I had a bit... but I never got a call from them nor any emails keeping me posted so I went ahead and called them but again there was an issue. Can you guess? Yep my husband's tax forms. At this point I'm extremely frustrated because this is the third time and yet I got put into another class. I told them "listen I am not signing up for anymore classes until you get this sorted out because we have been over the 3 times now."

So I waited about 2 days before I tried to reach out to my finance advisor who seemed to never be in the office and never responded to any emails. Eventually I got ahold to someone and they told me the issue was fixed and everything was rolling and I told them "okay but please do not put me in anymore classes if there is another issue because I really don't need to pay out of pocket for an issue that should've been resolved a while ago," to which again they told me I need not worry, the program will automatically drop me if there's an issue.

From this point on I had a gut feeling something's fishy was going on. I then got an email from FAFSA explaining to me that they released my funds to the school and they should be contacting me letting me know when the school plans to disburse my money. I waited about a week no phone call so I called them up and explained to them the email I got to which they told me that they never received money for me and I said that's weird because I got this email and it was a legit email and couldn't have been spam so then she checked and told me that she can see it and it should be distributed in a week.

I was still a little taken back by the fact that she first told me it wasn't there but I didn't worry about it because it seemed everything was set now the disbursement date comes along and no disbursement. I let it go for a day because I decided to give them some extra time. After all I'm in TN and they are a different time zone for me. So the next day I call them and they tell me that the loans won't be disbursed because there is an issue. Now I'm pissed I ask to talk to the supervisor of finance because this is ridiculous. How on earth can the lenders send you my money and not have an issue but you guys found an issue that prevents you from keeping my loans.

Now I wait for an hour for the supervisor of finance to call me back and I try to explain the situation to her very calmly because I know it's not her fault but I also wanted her to understand my frustration because what I was being told was that I will not receive any aid for this school semester and I will have to pay out of pocket. I explained to her that I've been over this issue a few times in the past and my husband did not file taxes so I can't physically give it.

But no that wasn't the issue. The issue was that I had another w2 form floating around. Now I only worked for one company. How on earth would I have another one floating around. I told her that I can see how this would be an issue but what you are telling me is you continued to put me into classes when I told you to drop me if there's an issue and I was told that I would be dropped if there was an issue but now I'm paying for classes that I shouldn't have been put In the first place. To which she got real defensive and rude telling me that this is my issue and they aren't responsible for this.

I told her "I understand but on your part I was not informed there was any issue. My money was disbursed to the school without an issue yet you guys knew there was an issue and continued putting me into more classes." I also told her "when were you guys going to tell me I wasn't getting any aid, when I was 20 grand in debt?" To which she avoided that statement completely and told me that this was my fault and it's not her problem.

I then said "okay then drop me out of this class because I can't keep adding more debt on." Which she then argued with me to finish the class, there is no point in dropping it (which there was because it would've added an extra 500). I then proceeded to end the call because there was no way I was gonna get my point across to this lady and since I am pregnant I did not need to stress myself by entertaining this argument so I ended the conversation and called back and talked to a regular finance advisor and asked her to drop my class and give me a payment plan because I didn't need the stress. To which she did.

Now fast forward to the present I get a post withdrawal disbursement letter. How on earth would I get this if there was issues with my aid? So I call the school and of course no one can tell me what's going on. So I called again the next day then I from ahold to someone who told me this was the money I earned while in school, that I can accept these funds and it'll pay my balance for school. I then asked "if I do this can I apply for a community college without a hassle and would you guys release my records" to which he told me yes and I'd still have excess funds if I choose to accept this much.

So I went and I circled yes to my funds and sent it in. A week later I get a call telling me I did not accept my Pell Grant which would pay a good chunk. I said "okay I will send this in and everything should be good right?" Right. Now fast forward to today, I got a call saying they were going to transfer my file to a collection agency because I have not paid my funds... wait what? I told her she was the one who called me and asked me to resend it in accepting my funds I earned that would pay off the debt.

She then told me I only earned the federal subsidized loans which I then told her what about the extra money that they told me I earned. She then told me that they sent about 800 back to the lender but it was about 2880. So what happened to the 2 grand that should've been applied to my account to pay off the debt which she couldn't answer for me.

So basically they received my loans, took a chunk of it but only applied about 300 to my account. I want to know if there is any lawyer who can contact me and let me know if I have a case because I can't even start school till 2016 in July because I accepted a loan that wasn't even applied to my account. I am stuck paying for classes I was told I wouldn't be put into and now they are sending me to a collections agency but aren't telling me what's with the 2 grand that somehow disappeared. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if anyone knows a lawyer or anyone who can help me contact me. AND IF YOU ARE LOOKING INTO THIS SCHOOL DON'T DO IT.

The only reason I attended in the first place was because they literally called me everyday at least ten times a day and would not leave me alone until I agreed. Not only did I feel as though I did not get the educational experience that I should have, but they also scammed me in the end. I am a very organized person; I keep all documents and bills in order. So, then someone tell me how I did not owe any money nor did I have any debt or upcoming payments with UoP, but all of a sudden a year and a half later, I got a bill saying that I owed over $10,000 and I now owe $15,000 which ruined my credit score.

My plan was to change careers as I am struggling financially and the money is inconsistent. I received my degree from UOP 5 yrs ago. My plan was to get out of the hair industry but unfortunately still no luck. I would not recommend this school to anyone! They overcharge for nothing. Now I have reached the max in student loans and I am unable to complete my BA degree.

I started attending the University of Phoenix in mid-August of this year. My adviser told me about the risk-free period and said that as soon as that's completed if I attended my classes and kept a decent grade that the financial aid would be processed and it would take about another month to receive the award letter. The adviser seemed like a very nice and genuine guy but either he's very misinformed or just a really skilled liar because I'm now being told there is no chance I will be receiving any disbursement in 2015.

I just lost my job last week, after working at the same place for four years. I'm a single mother and do not get any sort of child support. Since unemployment takes weeks to months to process I have no way of even getting any gifts for my daughter for Christmas. I wasn't looking to get a ton of money and it's not the reason I enrolled in school but I was an idiot and actually believed my adviser when he said that the 60-90 day period starts from when you enroll, it doesn't. It's 60-90 days after you complete your first class and that's only if your financial aid goes through smoothly, which it won't because the University of Phoenix is just a scam.

In June of 2015, I started the application process at The University of Phoenix. My goal was to start classes in September of 2015 without any headaches with financial aid or my transcripts. I submitted everything that was needed and was ready to proceed. Well, during my last week of classes, I received a call from my financial advisor, telling me that I had to take a leave of absence, because the school did not receive my transcripts and they can't prove that I matriculated. I made 3 transcript request, out of the 3, 2 were sent to the school in July. The third school no longer exist, so I had to do a little work to obtain it. In short, the school received the transcripts.

By mid-October, I spoke to my advisor and I was good to go. My next class is due to start December 5th. Then on 11/3/15, I receive an email from my financial advisor asking me to pay over 3,000.00. I only took one class and the cost of that class was roughly 1435.00. They are billing me for a class that I haven't attended. But the worst part is I have financial aid that will cover the cost of my classes. I spoke with FAFSA on 11/4/15 who informed me that since my promissory note was signed in July of 2015, and the funds should have been disbursed by the school. At this point I am prepared to fight this but also prepared to transfer. My financial advisor has been cold and unprofessional. I wish I read the reviews here prior to applying to the school. FAFSA gave me the number to complain about the financial aid process. I will definitely give them a call. If anyone wants the number it's 1-800-647-8733.

I was University of Phoenix student back in 2008 - 2009 school year where I obtained my associates degree in business. To be honest I went because of a referral from a friend. I had a really good experience during my Associates Program even with it being all online. I graduated and was not able to land a good job. So I decided after some years later that I would go back and complete my bachelor's degree. I transferred from another school and decided to go back to University of Phoenix since they had all of my other information and all I had to do was just bring my other transcripts. They gave me the option to go to school on ground or online and I went with the on ground option. First thing was they told me that the initial site I was going to go to for the on ground campus class was cancelled due to not many students enrolled so they sent me to another on ground site which was fine.

Once I started the advisor that I had I was already having issues with her. She always sound as though she was annoyed or was just having a plain old bad day. I also heard two of my other classmates talking about the same advisor and how horrible she is. After a few months in the class I received a call from this advisor telling me that my student loans was going to be kept out and I was going to have a balance due at the end of my degree program. I didn't want to but I went ahead and took a private loan for the amount that she told me which was a little over $4,000. I asked her making sure that this was going to cover them out and she said yes.

I was going to school and looked on my student portal to see what class I had next and there was no class listed. I then contacted my advisor who now has changed to a different advisor and asked what was going on with my schedule. I was then told that I would put on a break for 2 months due to lack of classrooms available. I then asked her because I was set to be completed with my bachelor's degree in October of 2015 if I was still going to be completing it by then and she said no. She said that I will be completely done February of 2016.

At this point I was well beyond pissed off. I was told by the first advisor with my program track that I would be done and graduated with my bachelor's degree in October of 2015. I also let her know that I was not told anything about a break in my program. I asked her if there was anything listed on there stating that this was gone over with me and she said no. She apologized and said that she was surprised nobody went over these things with me but I am supposed to be on a break for 2 months and then another break for about a month which push my completion date back. She didn't let me know that I would have to fill out a leave of absence because of those breaks. But I let her know that I should not have to fill out a leave of absence since these are breaks that I did not authorize no one knew anything about.

She let me know that me filling out the leave of absence and then putting because of class availability that it would not go against my financial aid. So I went ahead and did it. So I was put on a break and also let me know about the second break that I was going to have then coming back from the second break I received a phone call from another advisor. So this was advisor number 3. She let me know to call her as soon as possible because of an issue with my next class. And then looked at my student portal and saw that I did not have a class list it so I gave her a callback. She didn't let me know that I have a balance that's going to be due and needs to be paid before my next four classes. Mind you these are my last four classes for the completion of my bachelor's degree.

She told me that I need to speak with my financial advisor who this was the fourth new financial advisor and I went over with her that I already got a private loan to cover that and she told me that the private loan did not cover that it only covered a portion of it which was the last few classes that I had. At this point I was irate!!! I am NOT proud of this but I begin to go off on her she didn't apologize and said she needs to transfer me over to the financial advisor and I calm down just so I could talk to the guy.

He then introduced himself, apologize that it had to be under the circumstances, let me know what had happened and that there was money that was owed. I've been let him know everything that I did with the private loan that was supposed to have covered all of that and he let me know that it did not cover all of it. He apologized about the bad customer service, the misinformation, but the student loan that I got did not cover everything that it was supposed to. He then asked me if I will be able to get another student loan and I let him know that due to circumstances with losing my job and being laid off for 8 months not working that I fell behind on my bills and some things went on my credit which now affected me being able to get a loan. Even so that the misinformation I received was not my fault and why should I be punished for it.

He then apologized again and said he will see what he can do but the only other option would be filling out for scholarships and setting up a payment plan. I then let him know that I understand he has to say those things but again this was not my fault it was the advisor, the first advisor that I had, her fault why should I get punished for her misinformation. He then told me he was going to see what he can do about my next two classes to finish out this year but the two classes after that we would have to look at other options. So he went ahead and got me into my class I was in the final week of the class when I started receiving phone calls again. They then let me know that I was dropped from the next class and that I would almost $6,000 in order to finish out my bachelor's degree program.

I am so unbelievably done with this school. I want to sue the school for the misinformation, for pain and suffering because this has been stressing me out! I work part time and my bills are covered by the money that I get from part time work. It is been difficult for me to find a full time job and not only that the stress from all of this has been causing me medical issues as well. I do not understand what joy it is that they get out of screwing students up! My brother recently asked me about University of Phoenix and if he should go there and I told him turn and run for the hills, do not ever go to University of Phoenix nor any other school like it. I do want to sue and if anyone wants to do a class action lawsuit please let me know. Thank you.

I have a few concerns about my UOP experience. Ranging from lack of visibility to my account summary information, the school's student loan tactics, and the staff's level of professionalism. I recently contacted the school to obtain my account summary as online this information is not available for me to see, even though the website has an option to view your account summary. Once I contacted my financial rep, she indicated that if the information is not visible there she guess she can submit a request to have my account summary history forwarded to me in about a week or so. Is this the standard process? The school has received a large sum of money for the courses I have taken and I should at least be able to validate that amount when I see fit.

My second issue with the school is as I pay off this student loan debt I occurred while at UOP, I am struggling trying to understand why the school would opt to obtain so much more funding for me than I needed to complete the MBA program. To me I would think the school gets some sort of kick back from the lending institution. During my first conversation with the enrollment counselor for UOP. The counselor recommended I just get a general MBA. The counselor went on to tell me this would make me more marketable, how very untrue that statement was. On every interview the hiring manager always ask me what my MBA concentration was in. Me being naive and thinking the school had the student's best interest and would not steer me incorrectly. Well you live and you learn! My advice to anyone is to stay away from UOP, as you will end up with a lot of debt and a piece of worthless paper.

They stole and cashed my Pell Grant Money. They called me once to pick up my check for $300 from the Pell Grant loan, I was so excited. They told me that I can call back every week to see when I will get another one. About 3 months later they told me I had another check there for me. I was so very excited that these checks were coming in. I worked in accounting and I was a single mother so I needed money. Then the checks stopped coming for the rest of the 4 years that I went there. Then when I graduated, I went to talk to the financial aid counselor in the Foothill Ranch location and I got an unofficial financial record. It had all of these credit on there. I asked then what the credits were from, I thought maybe from dropped classes or something. He tells me that they are all of the disbursement checks that I received. I told him that I only for 2 and there were like 7 or 8. They said that they were cashed at Wells Fargo with my signature.

I'm sorry, but I would have known if I had cashed around 15K worth of checks. So I call Wells Fargo, which was my bank and I used to work there and they tell me that since these checks were cashed several years ago it was going to cost me $2.50 per page to get 4 years of records out of storage. It was like over 8K in fees, I could not afford it. I tried to get an attorney, but he told me that if I did not have printed statements from those years to compare to their records that they have on file now, that I would have no case.

I worked at Wells Fargo, I banked online, every day I looked at my account, nothing was off or fishy so I never even thought to print anything out. Yet alone it was years ago that this happened supposedly. When I called Wells Fargo and filed fraud charges, they sent me the checks and they had a signature on them but it was forged, I never received these checks. Also when I called Wells Fargo again and I wanted to see what was going on with my fraud case, they wanted the check numbers that were cashed, I didn't have them at hand, I was at work. I told her that it was a check to Michelle ** from the University of Phoenix and she said that there was over 300 checks from different people to call back with the check number, so I am not the only person who was claiming fraud on the University for Fraudulent checks cashed!

I received my Associate's Degree feeling proud of myself. Then I went on to my Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree, where I obtained that and I was proud of myself. Now I am into my masters in psychology program, and still awaiting graduation for this, with 8 classes to go. And all and all I have to say is... If I could go back in time I would of NEVER went here. The reason being is that I still have not found a job, I work for Uber.

I didn't open not one text book from day one, it was all Google. Kudos to Google! And well the "advisors" change like clock work I stopped paying attention after 5th one and honestly they are way too expensive for nothing. Currently I'm like 85,000 in debt with a degree that isn't getting me a job anywhere. And I asked a friend of mine who is a Principal at a school if she will ever hire someone with a degree from University of Phoenix, and she said "no." The reason being is "I believe that students in a traditional setting can learn from hands on and from their professors, not over a computer. And in college your teachers are teachers or professors, nor facilitators. And lastly the president of University of Phoenix is forever changing... Why???"

Well I'll let you think of that. You can go if you want, but honestly you can probably buy a degree online, and get further with that than this. Sorry hate to be the transporter of bad news. It's not worth it and I'm waiting for the day the government will take funding away from them so I can get my money back. Ugh how time goes by slow...

I'm a senior at the UoP and I started going to school here because I worked full time and needed a school that would be able to accommodate my busy schedule. The classes are difficult enough for this school to be taken seriously academically. You'll find some things you can't find at other schools such as the ability to do schoolwork entirely online but this isn't about the academic portion of the University of Phoenix. This is about their financial aid department, AKA the ninth circle of hell. The DMV, Comcast, the IRS, and your cell phone carrier's customer service are all pleasant to deal with - the UoP financial aid office is not. They will hold you and your money hostage, your pell grant disbursements will be ridiculously late and by ridiculously late let's just say I've had accident settlement payouts take less time.

I submitted information to them two weeks ago and they haven't even looked at it yet. There is no way to get a hold of them and you have to hound your poor financial representative until he finally gets fed up with you calling and does something about it. In June of 2015, I applied for financial aid. I was starting my 2nd year at UOP. I was told that Pell Grant would not be figured until July because that was when my year was up. I went back and forth with the financial aid people (3 in total) trying to get my Pell Grant accepted. I was flagged for verification and finally had to take a leave of absence at the end of Aug. because my aid was still being held up. I was only eligible for around $2950 per semester, so that only covered my first two classes. I NEEDED my Pell Grant. I had to go back in and request more time off because the grant acceptance that I was promised would be completed by Sept. 8, was still no closer to being completed. I set my leave back to Oct. 2. I decided during this time to transfer to a brick and mortar school in my home state for Spring/2016, I had been getting an increasingly bad feeling about UOP.

The biggest shock was when my financial aid was approved through that university in 2 days using the same information that UOP had, I didn't get flagged for verification and everything went smoothly. I called UOP on Oct. 1 and could not get my advisor. Instead, I got a woman who lied to me and told me my financial aid was not being processed at all and now that I had transferred I would be unable to get aid at the next school until I withdrew officially from UOP. I told her I had already been approved for aid through that school.

She called me a liar and said that I would get flagged for verification there just like I had at UOP because the government was the one who flags people. (NOTE: I haven't been flagged. This was a lie.) The advisor then forced me through threats to withdraw from the school officially. Once I had, she took delight in informing me that I would now owe UOP up to half of my student loan disbursement for that semester. I was shocked. I received an email and a call from my financial aid instructor two days ago telling me I owed the University just over $1100. I did research and found out that what happened to me has happened to a boatload of people and is the reason for at least 2 class action lawsuits.

My biggest question is why didn't the advisor actually ADVISE me and disclose this before I withdrew? Why did she wait until just after? One day after speaking with the advisor I received from UOP, another request for verification for my Pell Grant which proved that the advisor was lying about the financial aid the whole time. I'm so angry because I was not given important information regarding my loan until after I had withdrawn. I needed that information in order to make an informed decision, and I was denied that opportunity.

There is no consistency from class to class. Instructors have no guidelines or standards they follow. So they pretty much have free reign to do whatever they want. When a facilitator screws up the school always backs them, no matter what, without any justification. Any student complaint goes nowhere. There is no syllabus. There is an "electronic syllabus" which is pretty much just the webpage for your class. Not that it matters, if the instructors don't have to follow a syllabus or curriculum for that matter. There is a $140 per class for resource fees and you don't get a book. You get electronic excerpts from the book. It's ridiculous and way over priced. Most importantly, I haven't learned anything despite having an A average.

They do not contact you until it is too late and this is a repeat pattern, leaving me to believe this is their way of gaining extra money from students. I also tried to work it out with department that you file a grievance with, which they said they do a fine-tuned investigation. They took so long that the UOP turned me into collections. Never heard from grievance department that they finalized their investigation.

What rip... scam. No university would have done this and gotten away with it. Like university... everyone who works for them are also crooks - instructors, councilors, financial aid, directors assoc., directors, president - are crooks. I attended class for a week and a half and then I received an email stating that I had a balance on my account. I called the financial aid department and I was told that I didn't have any aid and that I would have to lay out of pocket although I had a letter telling me I did. I spoke with the registrar's office and the business office about withdrawing and not having a balance since it was their mistake if any. I was told I would not be charged on that Thursday and by that Friday I received a call saying I would have prorated charges for the days I attended.

I kept trying to explain that if I had KNOWN I was not going to have any aid (although no one could explain why I had a letter for full financial aid AND instructions on how to retain a book voucher which you cannot get without aid) I wouldn't have attend class at all. They have placed it on my credit report and I am going through it trying to get it removed off my report because I shouldn't have to pay $830 for their mistake. I have reported it to the BBB and their response was that I dropped the class before aid could be applied. But I dropped because I was told I didn't have any aid at all. I really need help with their shady business practices.

I have tried for two weeks to get them to update my records to show withdrawn and they refuse to update the records. They won't report to NSLDS.GOV as they are required to do so, nobody seems to understand or know how to withdraw a student.

I have spoken to a lot of people and everyone has pointed me back to the school. But, they simply updated the information to cause the problem, and they simply are refusing to fix the mistake. And when asked, states it's the policy not to change the information but unfortunately, they are required by the government to update the records especially when changes happen. But again they are refusing to do so. Anyone else have this problem? Because of this issue, I am glad I left University of Phoenix and finishing my degree somewhere else.

The instructions for this box is "Describe what happened and what were the consequences?" I hope there is enough room! As Amanda says, "if you care about your education, go elsewhere." This was a good school when you could actually attend campus and have human contact. But that was over 10 years ago. Once most of the campus were eliminated, that's when I saw everything from the quality of instructors to academic councilors and financial aid go down the drain. I have been so unhappy lately because the financial aid department didn't reconcile my aid properly and left me with a balance I have to pay personally. I had withdrawn because my last class was divided into teams (normal) and I did all of the work. Out of 5 team members, I heard from one participant. The rest were MIA.

This isn't the first time I know students are receiving credit for participating when they haven't. I have a long history with UOP and like I say, it wasn't the first time. I am pretty much a straight A student with a strong GPA. My GPA suffered when I received a C in my last class due to how much time I carried everyone else on "my team" (yeah.right.team?!) The instructor couldn't even spell. He demanded we write using APA standards; which I did and always have, but he couldn't even spell. Now that UOP has adopted the use of mobile devices, quality and accuracy of participation has slipped into downright illiteracy. It is true there is a word requirement in order to receive a grade (points) for participation, but the quality and literacy of content is absolutely horrible. When I contacted my Academic Advisor and told her I didn't wish to be in a team environment any longer, she told me I should look at other schools.

After 10 + years of me standing by UOP, this is the best they could do; tell me to go to another school. And I am considered a student in "good standing". The two Cs I received at UOP had nothing to do with me or the quality of my performance. One of the courses I needed additional help with and when I contacted my instructor, he told me he wasn't carrying his laptop and couldn't help me nor did he bother getting back to me. At that time I was a graphics student and the programs like Photoshop CS6 that were supposed to be accessible to students online didn't work nor in some cases; exist. The same with the math labs. They were inaccessible. Instructors aren't accredited teachers. Some are; some aren't. But if you are an online student and something goes wrong with a technical matter that is affecting the outcome of your studies or grades, you get passed around between instructors and UOP's IT Department.

You're assigned a case # and you are able to report the case # to your instructor as an excuse for not completing your assignment(s) and a chance to make up the work in a certain window of time. This school is far too complicated in terms of accommodating the student. It's geared towards the university making money. The day I was notified that I had a balance on my account that I needed to pay personally, I explained that as soon as I could I repay the outstanding amount. The woman on the phone was THE nastiest person I've ever had the displeasure of speaking with at UOP and shouted at me, "We turn everyone over to collections immediately, so take it up with them!" There are numerous other afflictions I can go into on this school. All I've done over the past three years is write letters to UOP with no satisfactory results nor reply.

In my opinion, they need to go broke. I read they laid off 800-900 people including IT staff last year. I think they should continue their layoff process by eliminating their new President. The old one at least had compassion. One final comment. The school books provided online are ridiculous. You used to be able to download them. Wake up UOP! The students (I for one) have PAID for their school texts regardless of whether they were digital or hard copies!!! The curriculum went from online texts at $ 90 each that were downloadable to locked and write protected texts to only supplying parts and pieces of what UOP deemed necessary in a virtual classroom. When students access their "text" (I'll refer to it as material), they only see a section in selected chapters that UOP makes available. Unreal! I have never been in a campus classroom that doesn't make the entire text available.

It makes me wonder how the university determines what they feel is necessary for the student to learn. The virtual materials provided and the lock-down approach has just been developed in the past year. So again, I feel there have been too many misnomers created by the new Presidency. After I STRUGGLED and was passed around between academic, instructors, and IT a year and 1/2 ago, I received an acknowledgment from the new President via. email that he was or is aware of the problems IT was having and it was being addressed.

FINALLY! I could finally validate I wasn't going crazy that I did or was in fact experiencing a lack of control and availability to online course materials and programs. But the letter wasn't personal in any way and I received it after I had been through nine months of no one helping me or taking responsibility for what was broken and CRITICALLY needed for my success and education. WAKE up UOP! Listen to your students comments and concerns! I was a steadfastly loyal student for a long LONG time. You made money off of me and you didn't listen. Sad situation!

I too was a single mom who received 2,000 a semester in grants along with federal loans. When I started 6 years before to get my associate degree they enrolled me into Western University up until I was in my last four classes before graduating and then was told I had to transfer to Axia College to earn the rest of my degree. My adviser told me that I did not have a choice. Not only was I forced to enroll in another school I was told I had no financial aid left and had to pay out of pocket. So I did took my income tax money and paid it.

Another thing the school did was making me pay for classes that I should not have failed. I mistakenly put my final papers into the wrong classrooms. Both of my professors were willing to grade the right paper but the University told them no and I had to pay out of pocket for the classes and taken all over again. When I was earning my bachelor degree I was told again as I reached my last two classes that there was no financial aid left and had to pay for the classes out of pocket so I did. I did not have any issues with my loans for my MBA but I was shocked to have a 98,000 debt. With my grants and out of pocket payments what was paid. Now my fear is that they are being investigated and that my 7 years of school was for nothing and I could lose my job if my credits are not good. My children are now going to college so I have my debt and paying for my children's as well.

I know it's online but I think like everyone else we would have like to at least had a hard copy instead of having to read every single thing online or at least had access to vital source for offline use for those with tablets. Ok second I was fed up with online and was ready to go to an actual campus elsewhere. Why the hell was is so hard to get someone to return my call and emails about withdrawing from school? MMM I know cause they are money hungry. I got a bill for over 1,000 for nothing. The people can't even explain to me what it's for!

Please if you care about your education go elsewhere, matter of fact I went to Kaplan University and I loved them. I was getting my refund checks on time on top of an extra 250 for maintaining my gpa at a certain level. I really felt like I was learning something there and I truly regret leaving. And they use vital source that can be accessed offline from phone or tablet. The teachers respond fairly quickly and the education advisor called periodically to check on me. I sought help with someone with a master's degree and everything we submitted was failing. I spoke with my adviser, explain to him the situation, and the only solution he could give - that I could take the courses over with the cost of $950.00 out of pocket for each course.

First of all I did not have that type of money lying around. And second, it would have been the same instructor that would be conducting the class for a second go round. So after I failed the course and I did not attend Phoenix after that incident. I contacted Phoenix to get my transcript and this is when I was informed that I had a balance of $2085.00. I was informed UOP returned my federal loan due to me failing my course and therefore I owe UOP $2085.00. Federal Student Aid does not show a reimbursement but they still will not release my transcript, and literally have my education on hold because of a bunch of lies and schemes. I completed my Bachelor's Degree at Phoenix, and had several issues in regards to Financial Aid and erroneous charges. When I decided to continue and obtain my Master's Degree I was faced with several health challenges, placed on disability, on academic probation as a result. I waited my 6 month duration until I could re-enter to take my final course. I was first told because it was carried over that Financial Aid would cover it and I could request additional funds to help cover costs. I work in Financial Aid, and have for almost 13 years, and I have learned to just throw my experience out the window with this "college" as their policy changes frequently. I spoke to my Academic counselor who told me to strive for an "A" grade, but a "B" would be the lowest I could get to make up the difference needed on my GPA.

I started my final course in August 2015, and two weeks in the Financial Aid Advisor emailed me to say I wasn't eligible for the increased funds. I replied that it was OK, as long as my class was covered I was good. Two days later she emails and said "Well it's not covered... How do you want to pay for it?" I argued back, showed email conversations I had with her notifying her it was my last course, and where I was instructed to complete additional Financial Aid forms for it. Ultimately she apologized for the misinformation and waived my course. I completed my course with a "B" grade, and contacted the academic advisor. I was transferred to another advisor who congratulated me and gave me information on getting my degree mailed to me and commencement information. I was told to call tomorrow (today) to speak to my advisor so she would be able to release my academic probation and start the graduation process.

Come to find out she has changed her story. My GPA isn't even correct in the system. She sat on the phone for over 30 minutes trying to re-calculate it and said she never told me to get a "B", and now they are requiring that I complete two to three additional classes, all out of pocket... almost $3000 each. I kept my calm and asked about payment plans... get this $1500 upfront and the remainder before the end of class. I am a working parent and I have no idea where people would be able to get that kind of cash.

I do not want a private loan as I work in the industry and the interest is very high, on top of the loans I have accrued from Phoenix. I was misinformed, and I am heartbroken to be told I had finished. I do not appreciate being lied to and then being told I misunderstood. I am looking to transfer to my work as you are not able to transfer in credits for your Master's program at Phoenix. Worst experience of my life! I will advocate to everyone in my sector about the horrible practices and misinformation of this greedy for profit taking advantage of the working parent.

You are only able to read your book online but the cost of the textbooks keep going up every class. Then if you actually use your textbook to find the answers, you are counted wrong. They expect all assignments to be done using online research. So why do we need the textbooks? Also, the instructors are not available. Most of them actually have other jobs and this is something they do on the side. So the wait for help is sometimes prohibitive to success.

The academic representative I spoke with told me that I was silly for thinking the textbook should give me the education I need. Again I asked, "so why do I keep getting charged for textbooks?" The tuition is outrageous and keeps getting raised. Yet the quality of education does not. That keeps going down. I believe if a school is going to offer online classes, then they need to make sure there is someone to answer the questions for students. A student should not have to wait 2 days to get help when needed. They are all about taking all of your financial aid but they are not there to teach.

I made the university aware and I wanted to withdraw from my classes because they do not have real instructors. UOP responded by calling it an isolated incident. It didn't go through until this past June, almost two years later. They sighted problems with my SS card, marriage license and my ID. I then got another adviser who pushed it through.

Now as of today, I am stuck on financial aid recertification. I have turned multiple copies of every w2 we have to them, I put our IRS info into the FAFSA, and I have even done a Veri-Tax document for them. I was promised that everything was sent in 3 weeks ago before my financial aid adviser went on vacation. He goes on a week long vaca once a month, what's up with that? Anyways, turned out the email he sent to the people who review everything never went through because it was "too big." When he came back, I had questions about why things still weren't moving forward. He told me not to worry about it, do my school work and not to call back because he'd call me. Excuse me, if I don't stay up on you people nothing gets done. So I reported him and was told I'd have to wait to be able to get a new adviser because they are currently "restructuring." More like currently under investigation and trying to cover their **.

Two months into this recert and still my stuff isn't all the way loaded into the system. I am constantly lied to about things as well. I was told by my enrollment adviser when I enrolled into my Bachelor's, that she talked to the people at BGSU and said that my credits would transfer there for my Master's so I could get my clinic hours for certification. All I needed was a 3.7 GPA to get into their graduate program. I talked to an enrollment adviser there the other day because I am currently looking to transfer. Turns out, not one of my credits transfers to that school after I was told they would. Hardly any of Phoenix's credits transfer, most schools take less that 20% of them. The only school that takes most of the is ASU.

My paperwork is constantly lost, not good enough or misplaced. I get lied to about it being turned in and even put into the system. My advisers have changed 6 times in just the past few months without my knowledge. Teachers don't teach and hardly check in during the week. I am beginning to feel like no matter how hard I work, the lies and laziness will continue. I feel like I have now wasted my time and 25k on a load of crap. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE.

I have been attending UOP since 02/2011, my graduation was suppose to be 06/2015 and because I failed a class in 11/2014. They told me I could not complete the rest of my classes until I paid $2,900.00. Supposedly a grant was issued for $700.00 which made my remaining payment $2,200.00. My academic and financial advisors did not contact me till about 3 months ago with no kind of resolution until I pay the money. I do not understand this entire situation but this is in collection and they are also sending notices that I have to pay my student loans and I did not even graduate!!! I would appreciate it if someone would contact me to give me some kind of answers to this ridiculous situation.

I enrolled in this school to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. I signed papers for financial aid and grants. Lo & behold what I signed and what they have on file are two different things! I only took two classes. I took a leave of absence and didn't return to classes. Now six years later I've repaid the financial aid over $3,000.00 & thought that was the end of it. I tried to enroll in a community college and was told because UoP won't release my "official transcript", I can't enroll. I found this out literally the last few days before enrollment ends. Apparently UoP says I still owe them nearly $3,000.00 and won't release the transcript until it is paid in full. No matter who I talk to, no one can produce documents showing where I signed for LOANS through UoP, only the financial aid paperwork. And yet I'm supposed to write a check for $3,000.00? Somehow I think not. Avoid this "School" at all COSTS!

This has been a horrible experience specifically working with Shannon **. Last year the school overcharged me for my classes and instead of refunding me the amount, they overcharged. She insisted that I fill out a new application for loan before refund. I was told this is school policy.

Ever since I started with UOPX back in February of 2012 I liked it, however, as soon as I started my Bachelor Program it all went downhill from there. I was being informed because I was taking upper level course that I owed money. How do I owe money when I signed paperwork from the very beginning and the admissions counselor told me that I would pay 75k before taxes for my 5-year program? Now I am getting calls because I supposedly owe more money. This company is a scam. I have 12 classes remaining until I am done and I CAN'T wait!!! I don't recommend anyone to attend UOPX. Save yourself lots of money and frustration.

I was a student at the UOP for almost 2 years, and this year I became ill and had was admitted in the hospital. I requested a leave of absence and it was approved. The week I was suppose to resume my classes. I was advised by my doctors that I needed to wait before they cleared me to resume my classes. I requested another leave of absence and it was approved and then I spoke with my academic advisor and he had not problem with it.

But my financial aid advisor did have a problem with it. I never signed into the new classes but she says I still owe 889.00. I asked why since I was approved for the second leave and it was approved and I did not sign into those classes. She said that the school had to send my financial money back and I said "in that case why do I still owe the UOP?" I cannot transfer my credits to another school because they will not release them because of the money they say I owe. I really don't understand this school, and I would advise any of my friends or family not to enroll in this school online or on campus.

I also took classes with the University of Phoenix. Few of my credits from Wright State University were accepted. University of Phoenix's classes are expensive and as soon as potential employers realize where my degree is from, I am disqualified for the position. I have the same job I had when I started the University and a large student debt to pay off. It is my recommendation to anyone to avoid the University of Phoenix.

I inquired about applying in 2007. Went to the Chattanooga campus to talk to an enrollment rep. I was 40 then, married and had a young child. The rep made it all sound so easy, said I wouldn't have no problem getting a job/career once I completed the two year degree. When completing the financial part, they used my husband's income. I got two different government loans, one with interest, one without. The work was challenging to me. I did well for an older gal, completed the associates with a 3.7 gpa. What the rep didn't tell me and what I didn't know is without some sort of internships while doing online school, my chances of ever getting a job with this degree are zilch!

Since school, I've divorced in 2013 and find I'm stuck with these loans over my head. I was a stay at home mom for almost 10 years and now single mom working a low pay part time job. Even if I were to get a full-time job with better pay I still wouldn't be able to pay on these loans. Daughter and I go without so much as it is.

Loans have been in deferment since 2009, every year I have to worry to not miss the deadline and jump through the hoops, which have become worse, to make sure I keep the loans in deferment. What's the big deal you might ask? The big deal is, one loan collects interest that has added nearly 10 GRAND onto what I already owed! My loan debt for two years school was 24 grand, now 7 years later it's 34+ grand.

On top of that, this debt grows on my credit report also. Making it hard to get credit, a job, housing, or any of the basic necessary elements of life. I'm deeply troubled by reading that a degree from UOP is worthless in the eyes of hiring managers. Also troubled to find out that UOP accreditation is being questioned. I stressed and worked hard for my degree and was proud of myself for doing it at 40. All the stuff I'm reading really makes me question why this school is allowed to continue as is. My life has changed drastically since school/loans and with no way to pay it back, or alternatives to be relieved of this debt. Stuck for 25 years isn't a comfortable thought.

I earned an AA then decided that I May as well get my BS. The students, not all of course, were useless in team assignments therefore a couple of us who were capable ended up carrying classmates that were barely able to write a complete sentence correctly. Keep in mind that 90% of the assignments are 'team' assignments. Many times a teammate would fail to meet the time line for submitting his/her draft leaving it on the team leader to rearrange his/her schedule at the last minute. Or worse some classmates would submit and contribute nothing. It was actually better if the ones who were not capable of doing the work would do nothing versus the other few having to redo all the work submitted. If a complaint was voiced to the instructor, for the most part, he/she would not do anything other than reiterate the assignment due dates. So, now I'm paying back 40G and let me tell you it really really really stinks!!!

I received an A.A. with the UoP, but I was taken advantage of by students that did not care to learn and by the school itself during an algebra class that I really struggled with. I know they overcharged and I believe they should be checked into. I disagree with the fact that so many HR reps will not hire UoP graduates because I work in HR in a very large corporation and do not base hiring criteria on who an alma mater is. That is unfair to the student. That being said I switched to SNHU for my B.S. and can tell you that these instructors are much better and more qualified than anyone at UoP. So I have been duped out of a lot of money for two classes at UoP.

I taught for UoP in the MBA program and am currently tutoring a girl in the MBA program. I think the course curriculum is equal to any MBA program. I do not think, however, that a 6-week program is sufficient for the requirements of the program. It is just too much in too little time. I also do not think some instructors are qualified to teach. For example, I am qualified to teach Finance though I have zero private sector finance experience. I have 30 years governmental finance experience but there is no comparison to the private sector and the entire MBA is geared toward corporations. UoP needed a Finance instructor so I was qualified.

I have a problem with the quizzes. Students are allowed 2-3 chances to take the quizzes. If they miss an answer, the system automatically tells them what the correct answer is so that when they retake the quizzes, they score 100%. I do not know how this facilitates learning. Simply guess the first time through. No need to read the book.

I have a problem with the individual and team papers. Each paper is graded on a rubric. The rubric does not include getting an assignment correct. Instead, the rubric simply grades on whether the rubric categories were addressed. A good example is the statistics class for which I tutored a student. The team paper required the development of the research question, a hypothesis, and an analysis method. The hypothesis was not measurable. The mock data submitted did not match the team paper because it was the data from an individual paper (the paper produced by the student I tutor). Plus, the entire analysis was based on the data from the student that I tutored for her individual paper, because the arrogance of the team coordinator, with apparent support from the instructor, was completely wrong. Yet, the team got 100%. It shows that the instructor did not understand the subject matter.

APA is a requirement yet as I tutor and see other students' submissions, there are numerous grammar and APA violations. This indicates to me that the instructors either don't know or don't care. Most instructors have only a master's degree. Generally speaking, most schools require a PhD or DBA for instructors of a masters program. UoP apparently takes anyone, and it shows.

I taught on a U.S. military installation overseas. I discovered several things. The students who started together had all the papers, team and individual, from every MBA course. UoP never changes the assignments. Next, many of these papers can be found online. Finally, all the final exams for every course are also online. Word-for-word! As a hiring official, I will never hire anyone, or promote anyone, with a degree from UoP.

I have been attending this school for about 8 months and I am very dissatisfied with the way they communicate their information to students. When it comes to the teachers they all seem to have their own guidelines on how they want things done when the school has set guidelines and will make you go to war for a good grade even if you do extra credit. The advisers didn't explain the process in full so even though my fee are paid I was still told that I owed money. In the middle of my course I was forced to change to a more expensive program. It just seems that like most schools of this nature it is built around making money. I would not recommend anyone to go to this school unless you enjoy being blamed for the mishaps of the employees who don't pay attention or explain what's needed and expected from the students who go there.

I have tried to report them for what happened to me. When I was recruited to go to University of Phoenix online I was told that I could get actual books and that I would not have to download any materials unless I wanted to. I told the guy, the recruiter, that I needed hardcopy paper books because of issues with my eyes. He said that would not be a problem. I also told him that I did not want to print out hundreds of pages of books. He said that would not be a problem, I can get them sent to me.

So I enrolled. I tried to get my book and I wasn't able to get them and I was told that the guy in the should have never told me that I could get those books. I tried to drop out and cancel because I knew that I had 30 days to do that. The recruiter never returned my phone calls. I could not get a hold of anybody to cancel it. All I could do is leave messages and then they claimed that I requested, did the drop too late. I still had to pay for tuition. I still had to pay off the loan even though I never really took any classes at University of Phoenix. I still paid and I would seriously like my money back. That's thousands of dollars that I do not owe them, I never did. I was called a liar even though everything's on record. No one would help me from that school. It is ridiculous.

I have attended UOP for 3 years. Throughout those years, they have repeatedly proven that they will do anything to squeeze as much money from you as possible. Their goal is not to help you achieve an education. Instead they are in the business of forcing you to take classes that you already took so that they can make more money.

University of Phoenix financial is set up so that everyone has "plausible deniability." For instance, students do not have direct access to the finance department that process all types of payments and refunds including those relating to financial aid. Instead, each student is assigned a "finance adviser" whose favorite response is "I don't know." These finance advisers act as an insulation to the actual finance department. Since they don't process anything except requests to the finance department, their middleman status is rendered near useless. When you call them, they are only able to answer your questions which pertain to information that you can directly access on your own UOP online account. They appear to be stretched too thin in the sense that they seem to have so many students assigned to them that they have developed 'lip service" skills second to none.

If you are not stuck with them already, DO NOT ATTEND UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX. I have regretted my decision to attend since about my second class with them (for example, the honeymoon phase for students). During this phase when you have not invested enough time and money with them to render leaving a very expensive choice, they will woo you and contact constantly to see if you are happy with them. Do yourselves a favor and avoid this costly and ever so frustrating mistake. Good luck in our educational endeavors.

After finishing my Associates at a local community college, I decided it was time to work on my Bachelors. I looked at University of Phoenix because it was an online school and I needed something that would fit my schedule. Well after enrolling with transfer credits, I was set up with my schedule of classes. I asked why I was taking certain classes again and they told me it was because those credits were not transferable. I said ok and figured I would give it a go. I started one class and it turns out it was identical to a class I had already taken. I then contacted my academic advisor and they waived the class. A few classes later, I noticed I had two more classes that I had already taken. I inquired about those and was told I had reached my limit on waived classes.

I was forced into taking those classes and paying for them even though I already had the credits. After the second class, I put myself on a leave of absence and applied to New Mexico State University. I was admitted and at registration I was told I didn't need to take those courses and those credits were worthless. I was also told that every class I took through UoP were only counted as elective courses. I was defrauded by UoP and am in the process of seeking legal action. They stole money and time from me in the name of higher education. There is no integrity within that organization. My word of advice to anyone who dares apply there, steer clear.
