From the very beginning i was told that i would have financial aid and grants to help me pay for the classes. I haven't seen any. I thought everything was cool after I started except for the fact that the class conversations didn't make sense, and there was really not a lot of studying at all. I was pretty uncomfortable getting a degree from this type of school so I started asking questions. I was always given a million excuses but when the bills from lenders started pouring in no one had anything to say. I wanted to know why I had all of these bills in my hand when I was told I was approved for financial aid, and I would always get the same... isn't it worth it to get your degree online, wouldn't you want to spend time at home with your kids and you can just worry about those bills when you have your degree?

When I looked at my credit report and saw that I owed Sallie Mae over $5,000.00 in loans I pulled out very quickly. Sallie Mae took back one of the loans and it left me with a balance owed to UOP. To me that was crazy! How can I owe you a balance for something [they] lied and told me would be covered by financial aid? I got a bill from UOP's collections department and my credit is everything to me, so I called them and they were even more disgusting than all the shady stuff going on at this school. The person who answered the call was so nasty I wish we were handling this situation in person.

Than she passed me over to her supervisor who was even worse. I did not want any more blemishes on my credit from this place so I ended up making a payment with my credit card. I kept getting threats about them sending this to the credit bureaus so I felt like I had no choice. More than anything I am mad at myself. I have been taking care of myself and my two sons since I was 18 yrs old. I have always worked, and it was just hard for me to finally get the degree I always wanted.

I know I am smart but its too hard to go to school when you have no choice but to work so that you can take care of your family (I am a single mother). I tried to take the easy way because I thought I could have the best of both worlds. The fact is that I was robbed. The way that UOP is taking advantage of people is sad. I feel bad for all others who have experienced the same issues with UOP as have I. The worst part is that they continue to get people over and over again.

Right now things are really tight. It was good to hear that I was getting financial aid but I didn't get anything. It's hard to wonder how I am going to make this months bills and pay all of this money I owe to UOP and Sallie Mae.

I believe that the process is flawed due to unethical, fraudulent and discriminatory practices. I had attended the university for a little over a year and had taken a loan to pay for my education. During my time as a student, my class complained to one another about the education we were receiving and questioned it because most of us agreed that we really were not learning what we assumed we would know. By the time we made it to our last class, there was a great deal of talk about more people dropping out of the program because it was deemed to be a waste of money. We had lost a number of people and most of them before the class on ethics. The chair of the program reputation precedes her. She was our instructor for ethics. People considered her to be intimidating because as chair, she holds a great deal of power. The rumor was that she uses this power without measure.

At the beginning of Ethics, she informed the class that there were concerns about the number of students who had dropped and suggested that our educational process may delay if anyone else chose to withdraw. This information did not go over well with the class especially when she mentioned that she may be the one who is would get into trouble if more students dropped from her class. I cannot describe how much this affected the students. I know for me, I wanted to be in her good graces in order to pass the class and I remained. After the class, she wrote on a student's paper that if it were not for the numbers needed to maintain the class, she would have failed the student. A group of us discussed this and talked about how fraudulent this was because that statement implies that it is not about the student's receiving a quality education, but more about saving her own skin. This is the basis of my complaint and appeal.

The process of portfolio is a very subjective. The decision of our passing was determined by two other instructors and this chairperson. I had maintained an average of a 3.42 and failed Portfolio, not once, but twice. The initial shock of the F was appalling for me and almost paralyzed me. I contacted all the instructors by phone and email and finally received an email from one of them informing me that yes it was true that I had failed and needed to go through a process call "remediation". My remediation was a joke compared to what others told me it would be. I sincerely felt as if the chair had made the decision that this Black woman was not intimidated enough and we are not choosing her for our program and this instructor followed suit with what she wanted. He did not want to help me with the process and it was evidence by his complete lack of support. I felt absolutely unsupported and as if I had been tricked. I was told by this instructor on the last night of the Portfolio II that I was doing fine, but I made an F.

Initially he informed me, "We need to meet as soon as possible to review your Portfolio II performance. I will make myself to meet. Time is of the essence, so please confirm our meeting time as soon as possible." However, when I responded quickly, he assumed that I was merely trying to speed things up in order for me to pass the class. He wrote: "While I appreciate your eagerness and enthusiasm to complete remediation, this is not a process that will be rushed simply to move you through the program. The process is intended to be a learning experience for you and to strengthen the basic skills required for passing portfolio." This process he was referring too was a 20 minute conversation with him in his office consisting of him informing me, "You were not taught correctly on how to complete assessments. These people do not know what they are doing. I am the only one that does because I do treatment plans everyday." The people he was referring to was the chair and two other instructors.

I want to also note that I had no idea what I had failed nor why, other than the paper not being sufficient enough. Another student had shared that the rest of the class had received letters informing them of the things that they passed or did not pass. This student told me that she had failed on every section of her paper, but still received a Pass for the class. I never received anything and only an email notice that I sought for from phone calls and emails. I had to make contact with these people. I never received a letter informing me of the items or check list of things that I failed.

Looking back, I wonder if I had not made contact with these people, if they would have contacted me. I think not. I believe that they were done with this Black woman. The instructor assigned to me presented himself as unavailable and unsupportive. I was a waste of his time and he was definitely not interested in helping me learn or strengthen my skills. I submitted a paper to him and a tape. He waited three weeks before informing me again that I had failed. He did not work with me at all as he previously informed me that he would. I was treated as a nuisance and he was done.

I don't like to play the race card and I want to note, I know that I struggled with the assessment paper. One would question, how could someone who maintained a 3.42 average fail? According to this instructor, this was inevitable because the ones who taught me did not know what they were doing. Perhaps if he had been my instructor, I would have no problems because he reported being the expert. However, I was taught by two different instructors in different ways and only given two examples of an assessment including treatment plan. Some of my classmates reminded me of how subjective the process is with this program and how passing truly depends on how the chair personally feels about you. I think this is scary because one human being should never be given that much power without appropriate checks and balances.

I thought the idea of a learning team to be helpful, but after some time, we realized that we were teaching ourselves with limited knowledge and being judge employees of UOP when it came to our grades. I did not feel supported at all. We are told to check with the writing center and we did, but then we were told that we cannot depend on the assistance from the writing center. This is conflicting. I know that somewhere in my loan there are monies being allotted to the writing center. If so, I am being cheated and defrauded in this way as well. The instructors did not take time to assist. The chair of the program was always about her next traveling date when she was our ethics instructor.

In regards to writing skills, I am wondering if another classmate failed in this area, why was she passed and I failed. Is it my race that prevented me from getting the pass this time or was the amount of people needed for the continuance of class resolved?

Another issue is that the majority of the remaining class was UOP employees. One of who was coaxed by the chair during portfolio and shown favoritism. The chair of the program, while prompting this student was coddling her and telling her how intelligent she was. The program is too subjective and with behaviors such as this. This is totally unethical. However, when the chair was our ethics instructor she revealed to the class that once she had a client and maintained a personal friendship with her. This disclosure came after I had compared a person with unethical behaviors to a predator or pedophile. I explained that the behaviors were similar to me and that I believed that many people who have issues around boundaries seek out vulnerable subjects and take advantage of them.

In conclusion, I want to point out that the true show of how unfair and unethical this process really is, I am having to write this appeal to the very person I believe is responsible for rejecting me unfairly. This process opens the door for another third rejection. I have wasted money for what? I have been scammed and will have to pay money for what? This is so unfair. I have never been to a gambling casino in my life. If I knew that my enrollment at this school would result in the casino affect, I would have never signed on the dotted line. I believe that the practices of this program is unethical, discriminatory and fraudulent. I want my money back. I have not withdrew from the school because I am appealing itt, but I did make a loan and will have to pay this money back for nothing.

Enrolled on an online course at UOP & the teacher didn't post until two weeks later & it was too late for me to catch up so I had to drop & was charged fully for the semester. Since I was close to finishing up my degree plan they made me an offer to return to school but this time in person in 2007.

The instructor didn't know the material, in fact when I asked him about a simple term related to the subject matter, which was on the textbook by the way, he didn't know it. They billed me over 900 dlls. & I didn't find out until this year so with interest the charges were up to over one thousand dollars.

Recently I called and found out they didn't have my correct contact information, even though I got a collector's note in the mail working on their behalf & are now chargine me over 3,800.00 dlls. I've asked Corporate Finance for detailed statement of account via email, by phone, etc. to no avail. The counselors said they could do nothing to help & in an attempt to find out a contact source that could help me I ended up in a numerous complaints website. UOP should be accountable and it's not right that the only ones that end up losing are the students & yes I agree the education they provide is substandard, they've grown beyond the capacity to care; it's all about the money I understand, but it's not right to rip people off with lies!

The overcharges have hindered my capacity to return to school because the loan went into delinquency & I had to find out somewhere else. The stress of being billed wrong at a much higher number; being that I contacted the campus and they themselves confirmed the amount I owe in reality, not the collector's lying claim is undignifying.

I started school in Novembe, and was attending until April they told me that I could not apply for financial aid because of another debt that I had with the University of Phoenix I paid that debt which was a 1000.00 dollars from that point my financial aid was suppose to kick at that moment as soon as they receive the clearance letter from the other University, then I took 2 courses and then AIU states that I had to pay 1717.00 to stay in school.

At the time I could not pay that they said that my financial aid was going to cover the rest of the fees, and that I might have to apply for a loan just to stay in school to take care of the balance 1717.00. The result of me not paying the debt AIU kicked me out and now their stating that I have to pay 4700.00 due to the fact that my financial aid was not applied because I had dropped out. And that I have to put 831.75 down before I can start to make payment arrangements on this account. Not to mention that I will be disputing the 2690.00 that they say I owe.

I am trying to go back to school and finish, and can't because if the amount is not paid then they hold my process up to attend another college. That includes not forwarding your transcript. Also the financial dilemma that it is causing, stressing me out to put so much down just to set up a payment arrangement so that this will not affect my credit.

I enrolled for the first time at the University of Phoenix- Axia College back in March 2008. I ended up dropping a few days into classes because I began recieving letters from the school stating that I owed them moneys for classes attended. This was less than one week into the first set of classes. I did not understand why I owed them U of P - Axia College a dime when I was granted full PELL and went through Salley Mae for the rest of my funding.

I began recieving harssing emails, letters, and constant telephone calls stating that i owed the school money. Over the time span of about three weeks I tried to get ahold of someone- ANYONE- who could help me but everytime I was just hushed up and blowm off. Finally when I was able to reach Corey,I must have spoken to over 6 different people about the balance owed to the school, and to no avail. Afetr that one phone converstaion, not one single person, not even the director of finances Corey ever returned my calls, emails, or letters after that day. NOONE would answer me and I was and still am livid!!!I was promised that the situation would be rectified but it to this day has not been.

I eneded up starting classes back up because I was not about to pay for an education that I did not recieve. Recently I have had to drop again due to the fact that I had to have emergency surgery. Form that I got a severe skin and blood infection which made me violently ill and has kept me from working for over six weeks now.

Last week when I contacted the school I was advised that I would lose my financial aid, and my funding leaving me the the full balance owed to the school!!! I did not ask for this to happen to me, I would love for all of this to just go away, but now I am sure being punished. I was told in a very appothetic mannor that my classes are online based and that if I am not working I should have nothing but time to complete my assignments. That may be true but the financial hardship is solely mine to bare, being a single mother and having a child that solely depends on me, I can not afford the $200 for the extra software needed for classes- which I was not told about until after I started my classes. I began to save up for it and then I was hospitalized, had surgery, and put on isolation precautions which has kept me from work.

The faculty at the school and at the office did not give a damn that I could have died from this illness, or about the well being of my child or myself- all they cared about was the money. I do not think that I should owe them anything. The only thing I should owe it my lender- Salley Mae.

I owe th school $3900. I do not understand why when my financial lender should be the only one I should have to pay. I have recently discovered that the school kept all of my federal funding as well as the moneys from my lender from the first time that I began school. I did not restart until May 2008. They kept the money from March until May!!! Why I had already dropped.

I fully intend to take this as far up as I have to until the shady doings at U o P are all uncovered and all of this fraudulent activity is stopped. I am 26 years old and I have an 8 year old son. Being a young mother I wasn't able to go off to college after high school, I have wanted nothing more since then. I want the best for my son. This situation with the University of Pohenix utterly disgust me! I have worked hard for everything I have and I have done it without friends, family, or welfare. To stable and at a point where I am trying to better myself and still take care of my child, just to have U o P take complete advantage of me really upests me- I am p- off!!!

They took away my chances of owing a home or a safer car in the near future because now it is on my credit report. I have also been advised that my income tax return will be taken away form me to repay the debt. Is there anyone who can help- I just don't know what to do.

While attending the University of Phoenix I regularly submitted an invoice and grade report to my employer for tuition reimbursement. Upon submitting a tuition reimbursement request for ACC363 my employer asked for a transcript. I requested the transcript from University of Phoenix per their online process and paid for the transcript request. I requested them to send the transcript directly to my employer and it was not. It was sent to me, I put it, sealed as received, into a Fedex envelope and overnighted it. My employer stated that they were not convinced it was truly an unsealed transcript so I requested, and paid for, another transcript to be sent directly to them. In the meantime, my employer notified me that three grades from classes I submitted in 2006 were different than the transcript.

I contacted the UoP and was asked to send copies of those grade reports to their office of disputes for review. During this time, my employer without written or oral permission, explicitly against my wishes, contacted the registrars office at the University about the discrepancies. The University's registrar office breached my privacy rights by discussing these matters with the employer. They requested my employer send the transcript in question via fax to them. I received a letter from Doni Mullins, of the office of compliance informing me that they were charging me with a violation of the student code of conduct for submitting falsified documents as they ruled the grade reports I had printed in 2006 and submitted to my employer were fraudulent. Following their process, I responded within 10 days and requested the SCOC committee review/hearing. I requested a copy of the file that was being provided to the committee as I believed I had a right to view all evidence being presented by Doni Mullins to the committee against me. This request was not honored.

As I prepared my statement in writing and my oral statement I specifically addressed the three grade reports. I printed them, submitted them, filed them, and had no idea why the grades changed between 2006 and 2008. In fact, I had a copy of my class records and grades from April of 2008 stored on my computer and found that even then one of the classes was AS submitted in 2006 while the other two grades were lower. The SCOC committee asked me no questions about the supposed fraudulent grade reports.

Rather, they had a copy of the transcript sent to me by the UoP, sent to my employer, and faxed to the UoP by my employer and stated that this transcript was very irregular. They asked me questions about this transcript implying that I had submitted a fraudulent transcript to my employer. They were concerned with addresses and watermarks but the grades on the transcript were not at question in comparison to the grade reports. I was blindsided as I was charged with suspicion SCOC violations for sending alleged forged grade reports to the UoP, yet the questioning was 100% around the supposed fraudulent transcript. Even moreso, that evidences chain of custody goes from the UoP through me through my employer back, via fax, to the UoP. I am being held accountable for evidence that I have had NO visibility to. I am currently awaiting a decision from the SCOC committee.

My employer terminated me for submitting fraudulent grade reports. My health insurance and my family's health insurance has been terminated by my employer. I was on approved Short Term Disability (self-insured employer) due to chronic headaches affecting my ability to report to and remain on the job. Now, I must find new employment. My employer is seeking restitution of $13,000+ in tuition reimbursements. I am currently on academic suspension from the University while I await the SCOC decision. I have completed all but TWO of the classes required for a dual bachelors degree and years of work and study and tens of thousands of dollars in tuition are at risk.

I was approached at a seminar by two men recruiting persons for U of P. When they asked me if I was planning to attend a school I told them yes. they informed me that I would not need to pay the $100 application fee if I enrolled in their school. I told them I wanted to study education. they said it would not be a problem.

However, after getting their I was told I needed to take a five week course that had nothing to do with education. the class was a disaster for me. the instructor was bias to older women and did everything he could to show it. I left after receiving a unfair grade at the end of the five weeks.

I was given a lump sum of money and was told that I had an overpayment. I wanted to know how I could have gotten an overpayment when they knew that I was not attending the class. The person sent me E Mails printed in bright red demanding that I sent them the over- pament. they sent me something that did not explain when or for what the money was spent.

In August I enrolled in another college and began to study my courses in education without the preliminary five week course costing $800.00, as with U of P. In January of 2005 I sent the money order of $193.00 to U of P and I still have the stub and the mailing information. The stimulus for the Federal government deducted $243.56 from my $300.00 because U of P filed in 2004 a complaint I owed them money. I called the phone number and was told that in 2004 U of P filed the complaint. If I had not called I would have never known that my account had not been credited with the money. There is something that is not right about U of P because of the manner which no information is given when you enter the programs. the cost of the classes was not shared with me until I demanded to know. Either U of P is hiring unqualified personnel or they are not working above board. The form that I received from IRS stated that U of P tried to contact me several times and then filed their complaint. I was in Arizona until May of 2005, and never received a letter from them.

I have proof that I paid them their money and I have E mails typed in bright red print demanding I pay back their over payment. I was only there for five miserable weeks. that 243.00 would have benefited me in more that one way. I am living on a limited amount of money and I just would like to clear this up and receive what is owed to me.

I truly loved the school, my instructors were wonderful, always there for questions, whether in the classroom or during their working hours or at home hours. The homework was extreme, lots of reading, individual papers, team papers, quizzes, lots of class participation. I worked very hard and long hours and expected a great education, which I felt I received. I attended several colleges during my many years trying to get a degree, UOP gave me the ability with wonderful instructors and a great learning environment. My student loans were available, there never was any problem whatsoever. Please print this letter, they deserve a break from a student who really cares and would recommend the Irving, TX, campus to anyone.

I just finished my Masters (MFT) at Univiersity of Phoenix and am now in Debt over $50,000. The school hires individuals that work as MFT's or other professions to teach these classes (not a great thing). Some teachers have never taught any classes before and do a horrible job in teaching. Other teachers have their teachers pets and grade accordingly.

University of Phoenix automatically charges every student $80 per class for online books, which you still have to pay for printing these chapters, and you need to buy 3 ring binders to put them in. Students do not have a hard book like you do at other universities. There were times that we did not even get books, we got papers people wrote as our weekly readings, and for these, were were still charged the $80. They have a horrible system when it comes to books.

Then there staff turnaround is hi and there are always different counselors that are assigned to students and one is lucky if you get a call back. What they are good at is calling students if your financial forms (for loans) are not in. Students feel that the education is not a true quality education from University of Phoenix, but a paid degree, then your on your own to do the true learning once you've completed your program. Please be really carefull when considering this school. I did the On-CAMPUS classes, not on-line, and it is NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY, if I could go back, I would have chosen a quality school like Pacific Oaks or USC for this degree. I also did my undergrad there, BS in Business Management, that was a better experience, but still very pricy. Good luck

At the end of your degree, you still had to do other assessments never mentions by the school, therefore one must wait aboue 2 more months for their degree completion. Now I have to learn all I can on my own about the profession I am now in.

I have been given the run around concerning my financial aide each year now. I was told that my FASFA info was correct & funds should be available to use, then I was told they were working on this, for months, then after attend half a year I was told that there was no funds, there was an error, that took 7 months to find after I kept asking what was taking so long, then I was forced to pay all my tuition costs out of pocket & then no funds were ever processed.

I was then told in order to obtain my online degree I had to complete it; I could not transfer it to another school or to another type of degree. So I re-enrolled after I was promised my financial aide errors were corrected, to later be told that they were working on this again.

I have attended other schools & never experience such issues involving financial aide. Is UOP doing something wrong or where is the funds going or why are they not being processed correctly or timely?

Due to UOP errors, I was forced to pay a large debt in full with intentions of having financial funding, & then the stress that is has caused worrying about the second time it has occurred is twice as frustrating.

I was agressively recruited by UOP and told that I could transfer my college credits to their program, in addition I qualified for grants to pay my tuition. Instead I received partial credit for two classes out of many and my grant money was forwarded to me instead of being applied to tuition. Loans are applied first. I believe that UOP may be getting kickbacks over this practice. When I tried to get them to apply my grant money were it should go they read me their policies verbatim; counselors and their supervisors.

They try to explain that my other courses did not get full credit because they were nine-week courses; so are theirs! They tried to tell me they need to be under the same accredited programs as theirs; they are! A close member of my family died and they told me not to worry, take the time I need off; I received no time off for class work, it was due regardless and their was nothing I could do about it; again the counslers read policy to me ver-batim.

I now have school loans that I did not anticipate, I was misled to believe that UOP would transfer my college credits and complaining does nothing. Class action lawyers, I am ready!

100s of dollars in bounced check fees. Financial hardship due to the overdraft in my account. I owe funds that were never disbursed to my account. Cannot get it cleared with NSLDS.

I was enrolled in U of P from 2003 through 2005. At the time of enrollment I was 59 years old, a widow raising 2 grandchilren alone without help or support. I was very hesitant about enrolling due to my age. I was repeatedly ensured by U of P that my area of study which was Criminal Justice was in such high demand that I would have no problems securing a job with a good salary.

I remained very hesitant and was repeatedly contacted by phone and e-mail by representatives of U of P. I was assured of grants and loans that no expense would have to come out of my pocket. I was also assured that I could have my Bachelors in less that 2 years and only owe approximately $10,000. in loans. Being from a small community I remained hesitant about debt and being able to obtain employment from my course of study.

I was told that after I obtained my Bachelors I would only owe approximately $10,000. in loans. I was again told that employments would not be an issue. People at U of P seems more concerned with obtaining money than with helping people. I repeatedly told my advisors that I would be unable to repay a large sum of money due to obligations of raising my grandkids alone and being a widow.

I obtained my degree in 2005. In 2006 when I had to start making payments I found that I owed almsot $30,000. in loans. Needless to say I was shocked and surprised. I contacted U of P and was told this amount was correct. When I reminded them of there promise to me that I woudl receive grants and would only owe approximately 10,000. I was laughed at and informed that no one could make a prediction like that. I made payments on the loans and now have it down to approximately 26,000. This is a terrible hardship on me and my 2 grandkids. I ahve been unable to obtain employment that would justify this degree. I have contacted U of P numerous times and cannot even get anyone to return a call.

Not only has this caused a economical hardship, but also emotional and physical hardship for my family. No one seems willing to listen or help. I feel that I was deceived and taken advantage of by U 0f P during a very emotional time for me when I had just lost my husband for their benefit and gain.

I have just completed my AAB from Axia, and I just had my graduation today and found this site and read stories from other students who either dropped out or finished. I just wanted to share my story with you.

I started just like the rest of you, I filled out information online about going to college, then got a phone call from an Enrollment Counselor and went on from there. My Enrollment Counselor told me about everything I would have to do for school and the days that most assignments are due. He then walked me step by step on how to log-in to school and where to post and how to post. I understand that some of you might not have had as good of an Enrollment Counselor as I did, however.

Some of the stories I read seems like its on your end. Counselors can only push and help you to a point, the rest is on you. Attending college means your becoming an adult and as adults we do not need someone to hold our hand. Those of you ran into issues with the financial department, I guess it almost falls into the same area as enrollment counselors.

The financial department can only do so much, you as the student should follow up on things to make sure everything is in order. I read that someone had issues with things getting changed without their permission. Again, as an adult you should know better then to assume that your information is safe and secure. You should always check on your information and make sure that nothing got changed.

Another was a person who dropped out and had to pay the full price of the class within an x amount of time. The only thing I have to say about that is, you dropped out. You dropped out so you have to pay, there is no reason why the school should give you an extended time to pay off the classes you took before you dropped out. So, that is all I have to say about that. I have enjoyed going to college through Axia and I would gladly go onto UoP. I am 100 percent satisfied with my experiance with Axia and I would strongly suggest Axia as well as UoP to anyone.

A good place to start the complaint process and maybe recoup some of your losses is through the Higher education board located in your State. All States have some form of a Higher education board. The Higher Education Coordinating Board (HECB) has the authority under RCW 28B.85.090 to investigate complaints involving the loss of tuition or fees as a result of an unfair business practice. . During the month of December 2006 I received a phone call from a representative of University of Phoenix Online. The person on the phone explained to me that I would be able to go to college fulltime, which I have always wanted to do. I asked only the questions I new to ask and those consisted of how much will it cost me and is the diploma credible. I was told the college is credited and many students have graduated. I was so excitedfinally, I to can attend college! I have always had a love for business so I signed up for the associated program of business. The man on the phone who turned out to be my enrollment advisor walked me through all the paper work including financial aid.

When my first day of class arrived a few weeks later, I was very eager to start my new challenge. I was so proud of myself and so was my family. I attended University of Phoenix from January 07 to September 08. During the month of September, I decided to call Sallie Mae to see how much I owed them. I was stunned when I was told more than nine thousand dollars. The following day I started to ask friends and co-workers how much their first year of college cost them. Most people I asked attended community colleges for their first two years. I was stunned to find out that they were paying an extremely lower price.

The next week I spoke to my enrollment and finance advisors to let them know, I had chosen to terminate my attendance with the University and pursue my educational goals at a more cost friendly college. I requested a copy of my official school transcripts and took them into my new college a few weeks later. I started doing some research on University of Phoenix and found out there are tons of former students claiming faulty, inaccurate information by the University. I also learned that University of Phoenix is not AACSB accredited. I also found out that University of Phoenix is a for-profit college. Their advisors make commission on how many people they enroll. Once I learned this, I started to look at my statement though the University. I was never told how much classes would cost and was never given a booklet about classes and prices. All I was told was not to worry because I qualified for financial aid.

I never even got a chance to pick my classes. I started a class one day and directly after the final exam started another. University of Phoenix online charges $885.00 per class and $70.36 for course materials. I found out today 06/18/2008 from my new college that none of my credits from University of Phoenix will transfer because they count as technical courses. I have to start all over as a freshman! My new college, Lone Star Community College, is willing to look more into my classes to see in they can get any of them to transfer and they told me to get a copy of my course syllabus from all ten courses I had taken.

I called University of Phoenix for the records but they told me they have no access to the materials. I asked if they could give me the contact information to all my instructors but they told me again they have no such records. I am heart-broken! I have spent over nine thousand dollars and year of my life on a fraud. A fraud that is broadcasted everywhere. I am not the only former student that has been let down by an institute that claims they are here to help better their people lives.

I am going to give you a timeline of things and I am expecting that the University is going to make this right or I will pursue it in any and every manner possible. April 1 - April 7: Several correspondences went back and forth between myself and Alex regarding how to note my payment in the application process. When I was enrolled in the fall, I entered financial aid and no second option. The loan was processed and all was well. However, I was advised that this time, even though I was pursuing a private loan - which I advised MULTIPLE TIMES - I needed to note tuition reimbursement and cash. I was assured that my CC would not be charged because the loan would be processed. I was never referred to financial aid, and because I wasn't enrolled, I didn't have an advisor.

April 11 - I received enrolled confirmation from U of P. May 7 - I contacted Christopher, since he was listed on my home page as my financial advisor still. I advised that Wells Fargo had informed me that they had not heard back from U of P and that my loan was subject to cancellation without verification from the university. At this point, he and Alex advised me that Mark was my current advisor. (I would soon learn that my pleasant experience with Christopher last year is apparently NOT the norm at the U of P).

May 8 - I forwarded the same correspondence to Mark advising him that WF was inquiring about enrollment certification. At this point, I was into my second week of the class. May 15 - I contact Mark again and advised him that I was concerned because I was in week three of the class and nothing from the school to WF yet. I received the following response: Sorry for the delay in my response, but I just returned from bereavement leave. Your private loan information has populated and is in process for certification. You signed the document on 5/10 and we are still waiting for the loan to be certified by our Accounting Department. We should see something by mid-to-end of week next week. If it doesnt show, I will begin take the necessary steps of official inquiry as to where our Accounting Department is in the process. I will keep you informed of any movement on your account. If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this or any other matter pertaining to your account, please do not hesitate to contact me.

May 29 - My class is two days from ending and I am still waiting for my loan to be processed. I AGAIN advised Mark that I am not confortable with the time it has taken and I wanted to make sure that there was NOTHING ELSE needed from me.

June 1 - I contacted Mark AGAIN and asked when payment would be applied. I was more than aware that by Tuesday, June 3, I would no longer be enrolled. NOW...Mark advises me that the payment is not processed because my payment schedule is mark as deferred: I was unable to contact you by phone, so I left a message. The reason your account is showing as not paid? is because it hasnt been paid for. As a DEFERRED student, your card is not due to be charged for the class until 6/28/08. If you would like an invoice showing paid,? please go online and pay 1305.60. I am also going to need a new credit card on file or your primary payment option will be changed to CASH and all payments or balances will have to be settled two-weeks before the start date of each class. I hope this information proves helpful. If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. (My intention was to submit my class for tuition reimbursement but that has to be done within 2 weeks of completing the course so that option no longer exists either!)

June 2 - I immediately advised him that this is NOT correct. There is a private loan from WF (as I had informed his numerous times for the past month). June 3 - I followed up YET AGAIN with Mark and he advised me: The private loan in the amount of 5000.00 is showing as signed and credit approved on 5/10/08. Sometimes this information takes a bit of time to process. I will keep you posted on any further activity. Have a great day!

Now someone tell me a) what this $5000 loan is if I never submitted a Wells Fargo request while enrolled and b) why wasn't I informed May 10, 2008 that I was missing a Master Promissory Note?

June 11 - Still no activity on my account. I received another correspondence from Wells Fargo advising that they still have not received verification from U of P, so I emailed Mark, AGAIN and asked what was going on. Now, the story changes, and he states that they are waiting on enrollment verification and he has forwarded the info to Audrey . I am concerned because this is a new name. Alex was my advisor for CCP 300.

First of all, it is never a bother to deal with your questions and concerns regarding your finances. The letter you received from Wells Fargo is standard and it is just a matter of time before our Accounting Dept. contacts them with the needed information to process your loan application. I have contacted Audrey, your Academic Advisor, to insure that your schedule is completely built as this is one of the parameters needed before your private loan can be certified.

June 13 - I emailed Mark because I am afraid that there is some confusion on my account. I reiterated to him that the Wells Fargo loan was to be processed for the April 29 - June 2 class and that I needed to get the credit on my account. June 17 - Today I received an utterly confusing email from Mark advising me that because I withdrew from the second course - CCP301 - my loan was not processed for the first course. His explanation was that the loan was not guaranteed when I was enrolled and that I erred by my not ensuring that it was guaranteed. He informed me that I had not signed a MPN with Citibank, which obviously indicates that he has NO IDEA what is going on with my account. The Citibank loan was submitted a week ago for classes in July. It has NOTHING to do with the class that I just completed!

Now, part of the money put aside for my son's braces are being used to pay for my class until resolve this matter - IF they resolve this matter. No one can resolve the situation - it's a classic scenario of pass the buck and I am the only one inconvenienced. At this point, I have emailed/phoned my advisor, the team lead, the financial aid manager and the university president. After four hours, no one has called me back and I am still $1300 in the hole!

This was my first expeiernce with on line classes. Midway in the class, with each phone call confirming my financial aid status I was assured that all was well. I started to recieve bills from the college, I immediatly contacted them, about this mistake, I was informed I was responsible for this debt. I wsa told I had to follow up with these Financial aid problems but in the meantime I had to pay.

Istarted to pay this off in installments, in 2005 I relocated and informed them of my new address and bank account to debit. The next thing I know UOP had sent this to thier collections. I was in the process of moving and was told of this derogatory info on my credit report. To contact this firm is virtually impossible, I finally spoke to someone who was verbally abusive, and the next day, faxed me a copy of the debits to date. After serval weeks of leaving messages, I did speak to someone who assured methat if I paid the balance off, They would remove this from my credit report. I paid this off and more than two yeras later and paying higher rates as this is still on my credit reportas in collections. All I want is this removed I have paid this off!

My issues with University of Phoenix began during my last course of the program. The course was never listed as a part of my original schedule. The course in question is ACC/589 Accounting Theory, which had my academic counselor scheduled correctly, would have been the first course in my field of study and not the last. Because the course was not listed thus not acknowledged as a course I needed to take, the amount for the course was never deducted from my financial aid proceeds. The amounts were returned to me as a refund which I used to supplement my income while pursuing my MBA. Later the class was slipped? into my schedule as my last course to take.

Because all of the amounts for my program had been disbursed, I was told I would have to pay for the course out of my pocket. The course was scheduled from May 6th until June 16th, because I logged in twice during the first week of the course because I was still under the impression that I would receive additional financial aid to cover the last course, I was told that I could drop the course and that I would be responsible for the one week of attendance which amounted to $329.73 I made payment arrangements to ensure this amount was paid and secured the funds from a relative to pay for the re-take of the course.

I was told by my financial worker that I would need to fill out a leave of absence form. I submitted the form to my financial worker on May 27th. On June 6th I received a call from her saying that the form was denied and that I would need to fill out the form again with a reason listed as to why I was taking the leave of absence. She asked if I would be interested in getting into class earlier and I told her yes since my relative was mailing the money to me to cover the course, she asked if I had at least half of the proceeds right now and I told her no, her reply was Well we sent you? at which point I told her that her statement was irrelevant. Upon asking to speak with someone else to file a complaint I was told there was no one else to talk with and that she was trying to help me, well talking to a person like they are stupid has never been considered helping them.

I am completely upset and exhausted by the trials and tribulations I have been through with this University. When I told friends and family that I was planning on going to University of Phoenix to complete my MBA, most of them objected and told me to think of another school because of all of the complaints they had read from current/past students. Up until recently I was proving them wrong. The job of the academic counselor is to ensure that I am scheduled for the correct courses in sequence and to also ensure that the courses are scheduled in time to be covered by my financial aid. The job of the financial counselor is to ensure that there are funds to cover my course and to contact me if there are none within a decent amount of time, not for me to contact them after the course has started.

Finally, I appreciate how when money is owed to the University I get phones calls on all of my lines and emails, however, when attention is needed to a matter that I have to wait for a response to my request. I thank you for taking an experience that is supposed to make an individual feel good about themselves and their accomplishments and completely destroying it. At this point I am happy just to get it over with, to the point that I am considering going to another University to complete the last course.

I started this school being new to the online experience, but my counselor made it seem so cool, I should have known something was funny by how fast she got me into the school I didn't though. Anyway I was told that they had a special going on that the first two classes were free if I completed them with above a C average I completed both of their classes with a A and B. Then I went on to the next set of classes and I got sick and got put in the hospital, so which means I couldn't go to class. My counselor called me and told me that if I didn't post to the forum by the end of the week that I would be dropped I told them at that time that I was in the hospital and didn't know when I was going to get to go home. He said that just to call him and he would set up those two classes again. I went ahead and dropped because I couldn't attend my classes like I was supposed to.

I said that my first set of classes were free ok well I owe for my student loan of $1471.00. Now tell me why they sent me a bill from the University of Phoenix for 1300 dollars telling me that I owed them that amount of money. I called and asked them how did they figure that I owed them any money when they kept my student loan, she then told me that I would have to talk to the student loan people at the Appollo Group. I called and she wasn't in so I left a message. I still haven't received a call back. So I left my admissions counselor a e-mail and told her that I didn't owe them anything and reminded them that my first set of classes were free that I completed them and received an A and B for those classes. She said that I owed for my second set of classes, now how does that add up to 1300 dollars and I was told that 2 classes would cost me 280 dollars. Plus I only went to class for the first week before I ended up in the hospital.

They have told me that I owe them 1300 dollars. I don't owe them this I don't owe them anything. They kept my student loan of 1471 dollars. I competed 2 classes and they were supposed to be free the next set of classes I only attended the first week or maybe two weeks before I ended up in the hospital. SO can anyone tell me how they think that I owe them 1300 dollars for two classes that I only attended for I'll say two weeks? Plus they already kept my 1471 dollar student loan. They are saying that 2 classes cost 1771 dollars. But when I had talked to the financial assistance people at Axia she told me that for my 5 & 6th classes that I would have to personally pay $250. So why are they trying to get 1300 dollars from me for nothing.

(the father is in prison and the mother has drug problems so there was no way to get child support). A friend had recommended UoP and after I first contacted them I was assured that seeking a degree in my field of interst of Criminal Justice was a very wise decision.

I was very hesistent due to my age and my financial situation. (after my husband passed away I was left with over a $100,000. debt and no insurance). I advised UoP of this. I was again repeatedly assured that a degree in Criminal Justice would benefit me and my family. I was told there was such a demand for qualified persons with a degree in Criminal Justice I would have no problems finding employment with a salary 50 to a 100 thousand a year no matter what size town I lived in. I was still very hesitant and told them I would let them know. I received numerous phone calls and e-mails offering me assurances of a better job to support myself and family.

I was also repeatedly assured that since I already had my Associates, that less time would be required to obtain my Bachelors. Taht I should only owe approximately $10,00. in loans when I received my degree. I graduated in 2005. In 2006 when I had to start making payments imagine my shock when I learned I owed $30,000. in student loans. I'm really surprised to read all the negative reviews about University of Phoenix. I have been going to school online for my Master of Arts in Elementary Education and I haven't had any problems at all. Granted University of Phoenix is expensive and they want their money like yesterday but as far as the faculty and the academic work goes it is comparable to other universities that I've attended. I actually prefer the online format. It saves me time and gas money that would otherwise be spent commuting back and forth to school.

I think Univesity of Phoenix is perfect for working adults and stay at home moms like me. My kids won't be little forever and eventually I'm going to need to get back to work. This is perfect for me. I think alot of times people complain because the truth is they didn't look hard enough into the programs, the cost, or the time it takes to complete the course work before enrolling. It's your job to research what your getting yourself into and its easy to complain when things don't go your way. For example, when the teacher says you need a certain version of Excel then maybe you should have listened instead of complaining when he couldn't open it.

Where do I start? I have been in the MBA program at UoP since June 2007. I am going to school on my GI Bill. Twice the young and inexpierenced financial aid girl caused a shortfall in the amount of money I get per month. That resulted in having to contact the Veterans Administration to clear up the matter each time. They use the term Academic Counselor very loosley at UoP. One typically thinks of someone a bit older and wiser to be an advisor or counselor. Such was the case with my undergrad degree that I got at a traditional school.

At UoP my Academic Advisors have all been young women in their early to mid twenties. With little or no real world experience they are worthless when it comes to academic advice. Whenever I call on my Academic counselor it takes over 24 hours for her to respond. When I complained about this to the school I was given another young kid who was supposed to be the supervisor. As for the classes, I have gained little from the school. I have told various memebers of the school staff that I have gained nothing that I could not have learned on my own by going to a book store and buying books on the topics of study. The only reason I continue is that I am over half way completed with the degree.

The consequences are that I beleive I will have an inferior MBA when I finish the course. There is no way anyone can learn as much going to UoP as they would in a traditional university. I do not recommend the school to anyone.

University of Phoenix contacted me by email and I clicked. Within a day they had me believing that I could be enrolled in school within 2 weeks to finish my degree. I waffled, saying yes and no a few times before actually agreeing to be enrolled. Things that bothered me before class started were: 1. Their eagerness. Most schools don't have to recruit that hard. 2. They wanted me to start class before my tuition was secured. 3. They wanted me to sign papers that I would be responsible for tuition if loans & grants fell through. 4. It was impossible to find anything about my professors online. Most schools are proud of their staff. 5. There's no price list for the books so you can see if you can get them cheaper elsewhere. The first 2 are supposed to be paid for by student loans, so that didn't hurt me, yet.

All those things made me nervous, but after several phone calls speaking with Jake, who really is a decent person, and Leamus, who seemed a little confused, and Channing, I agreed to be enrolled in GEN/300. Class started April 28. Instead of having a professor of any degree or even an instructor, our class was guided by a facilitator. As I have done with every other professor who has taught me, I Googled them to learn more. A man named [the same name] had been convicted as a child molester and forbidden to ever teach again and forbidden to ever use the internet again. Knowing that there are many people with the same name, I waited for more information to unfold. Within 2 days I knew for sure that the [man] who was leading my class was the pervert. He shared. Information matched up. [His] teaching certificate was revoked 11/2/2006, was declared a compulsive repeat sex offender and was supposed to be listed as such because of Megan's Law. I looked. He has not. A facilitator can say he is not teaching and get around that stiputation of his sentencing.

Internet access via UOP involves knowing the addresses, phone numbers, and other personal data of many many students, most of them with young children. [He] knows who in our class has young children because our first assignment was to write about ourselves. Also in that time frame (2 days of class participation), I figured out that the classmates are expected to teach themselves and each other. That's not what I want from a college. I want to be taught by people who know more than I do. As a victim of a pervert myself, I could not deal with this and was physically ill for 3 days. I told Jake about the situation. He took the matter to his next 2 higher-ups. I contacted Jake, Leamus, and Channing and told them to withdraw me from class and that if I were billed even one cent for 2 days of class participation, I would take legal action against them.

Jake emailed me and said [the man] was being removed from employment. When I asked why the teachers weren't screened, Jake said the students were. I didn't challenge him on it, but if they have 250,000 students and pay a discount snoop rate of $10 per search, that's $2,500,000 spent on screening students. I don't think they do that. Wouldn't it be cheaper to screen the teachers? Removing DdG is good. But how on earth did they hire that [him] in the first place?

I have not received a bill from UOP, but it is early. If I do, I would like to know that there is somewhere I can go to get some help. I have not received an appology or anything in writing other than Jake's email from UOP stating regret about this situation. I would like some assurance that this [man] will not be teaching or having any internet contact with students' children.

I have been trying to complete my Bachelors degree with University of Phoenix. I recently completed a class for macroeconomics. There was an Excel spreadsheet provided by the teacher which it stated that you needed to use this version. In the on-line classroom, there was a viewable version and downloadable version. I happened to click on the viewable version and entered the answers to my final (worth 20 percent of my grade). I double checked my email to be sure that the Excel spreadsheet would open. It did for me.

I received a grade in the class of D because my teacher said that he could not open my version of the spreadsheet. He and my academic advisor stated that it is the responsibility of the student to have the correct version. I can see what they are saying. However, it is not like I have done this many times in the past so I believe that being an on-line University should have enough customer service to review my final. Their own technical support can verify the version that I submitted on time and with those answers. I will be informing anyone that asks me about UOP and so far, I have come across so many people who will not go to UOP on-line just because of this incident.

    It dropped my GPA

I highly recommend that any dissatisfied consumers of University of Phoenix take their complaints to the Attorney General's Office of both the state they reside in and the State of Arizona. They enrolled me in course subject areas that I clearly stated I did not want to take.

They had me enroll in a field that I had no background in at a Master's level. They threaten me to return Sallie Mae Funds so that I would owe them thousands immediately if I stopped my attendance. They clearly stated that they would ruin my credit if I tried to stop my enrollment. They did not provide me with a Financial Advisor for over 5 month during my attendance. They blocked me securing loans with other lenders by not returning forms to transfer the loans. This forced me to put the debt on to credit cards.

I am going to the Attorney General's office with my complaints.

The first time I was pressured it was like buying a house without knowing the terms and conditions first and the second time I had been out of class for a period of time and the funds were returned so they needed to be applied for and in the meantime I was urged strongly to start the class. The funds did not get returned and I am out $2 grand and they turned me over to a collection agency because I was only making $50 or under a month in payment.

Can't get a job now without transcript/diploma and UOP turned me over to an agency (Platinum Recovery) without giving me notice. PR hounds me monthly for money that I do not have. If any one can help or knows who to call- I would sooooo very much appreciate it. Stressed UOP graduate with no job and NO MONEY! It is not that I don't want to pay but it would be a hell of a lot easier if I had the transcript/diploma to show when job seeking and then having a job I could get them off my back! I would love and appreciate help!

I wanted to further my education so I talked to a few online schools and University of Phoenix was promising the moon so I decided to give them a try. It was the biggest mistake of my life because they were trying to pressure me to fill out all of my forms so that I could start taking the classes. So when I did the class that they assigned for me was not the class that I was to take. I also noticed that on the financial aid form it states that when they receive your financial aid even if you don't finish the classes they will keep the money so I chose to keep the money just in case.

The class that I took was to be five weeks long and the policies state that you have to attend four times a week or you you will be withdrew from class and I know that I did not make it the first week so I waited and waited until the second week and sent a e-mail to my counselor to withdraw me from the class and by the time he responded it was the end of the third week and they told me that I could not leave the class and that in order for me to take the class over I would have to pay the money out of pocket in order to take the class. I asked them that since I was on finanicial aid why did I have to pay for the class and Pete said that the money that they had was for my other classes.

I asked them can I take my other classes then since they was already paid for and Pete told me no not until you finish this class and you pay for it out of pocket I was very upset but when they mailed me the checks the calls started to come in saying that I owe them $4000 for the classes and I kept asking them how and they kept threating me with turning me over to a collection agency. So that is where we stand right now because no one will answer my e-mails or my calls either.

There has been no damage yet until they report this to the credit agency and my credit will suffer for this.

I recently completed three online classes at University of Phoenix to satisfy my undergraduate degree for another university. Although I felt the class rooms were an over-inflated chat room where lazy students rode the coat tails of top performers; nonetheless, two of the three classes went by with little effort. My concern focuses on a sociology class taught by one of their professors. Specifically, weekly quizzes were required based on text book readings that were never covered in class. After myself and several others informed the instructor about the syllabus, he replied, the answers are not spelled out, you must read the material to extract the information. From the look of his answer, you would have thought he was a politician. I argued the reading material was left up to interpretation, and if was never discussed in (online) class, how would the students know whether they grasped the material.

My questions fell on deaf ears. I received more double talk from the instructor. I felt my final grade was undeserving and asked to speak with someone regarding the teaching methods. Weeks have passed and no one has contacted me. I have called several people and my calls are never returned. How can a university charge nearly three times as much as other schools and get away with this? I feel ripped off. Not only did I not learn anything, I feel completely ignored. I wouldn't take another class at this second rate school if it was free. The school's accrediting agency needs to step in and reevaluate the university.

As of right now there are three people in my house hold going through issues with UOP. I myself have had systems issues with the online site where they have admitted fault, but not given me a chance to turn in work. There has been issues with teachers not giving accurate information, for example, being told to turn in work, turning it in, then being called a liar becuase the teacher was unable to open the work submitted. I went back and fourth with her for a week, and two weeks into the class she then makes a policy announcment saying she will not take work in windows VISTA, but not giving anyone credit who tried to turn it in prior. When having issues with teachers and contacting my advisor, I was told there isn't much that can be done, that they can watch the class and worse comes to worse a grade dispute can be used, but after talking to another advisor later on that was never done.

I am looking into legal action at this point because no e-mails or phone calls have been returned into complaints. I have tried on several attempts to get a legal address or speak with someone about legal matters and have been told I can not get any information. My attempts to file complaints have fallen on deaf ears, and to date no one will return phone calls, or e-mails even about taking my credits and attending a local school or tech here in my state. It seems to me that they try to fail people, and not return calls so people will plug more and more money into the school.

When I asked what sort of fall backs a student has in order to protect himself from teachers that have said they would not help, or answer questions, I was told none. That I could file my opinions on a teacher questionare after the class, but please also note that I was never given that chance. When I asked about it, I was told I could always e-mail them about my complaints, but these e-mails do not go anywhere. I have no idea what to do at this point.

I have wasted so much of my money, and tied up so much of my credit in order to attend a school that talked to me before they got my money, and hasn't said or done anything since they have my money. My brother is in the same boat, although his problems are much worse, I wasn't able to put all my issues down, because I have wasted so much, time, money and credit.

I received a bill for my class and contacted my financial aide counselor. I was informed that my financial aide would take care of that and not to worry about the bill. I than received a call from financial aide that they needed citizenship information to complete my fincial aide requset. I provided the information requested and again my counselor said I was fine to continue. I finished my 1st class and took a 6 week break to allow them time to work on my fincial aide issue.

I began my 2nd class in March and recieved another bill. I contacted my counselor again and she said, they need a new promissary note. I worked with a Sallie Mae associate and signed a new promissary note. My counsleor said , I am good to continue as they wait for the funds to be certified and post to my account. I finished my 2nd class and than they said oh we can not disburse the funds becuase there is no scheduled classes. Than my academic counsleor created a MOCK schedule. So than I checked back again and my financial aide counsleor said don't worry about the bill, your financial aide will take care of that when it posts.

Finally I get a call that I am on academic and financial aide disqualification? So the school has financial aide issues this whole time but yet continued to reassure me that I was ok, to continue with my classes and that my fincial aide will get resolve? I than was asked by my fincial aide counsleor to pay my bill in full or it will be forwarded to collections? When I first began, I was not notified that I was on academic probation? How can someone be on academic probation from 4 years ago?

I had to pay $3,850.60 out of my own pockets to avoid collections.

I have been a student with University of Phoenix since 2004. This past March (2008) I completed the last class required for my BSM. I was notified today (4/14/2008) by my Academic Advisor, that I must take one more class to graduate. My Schedule and Grades List indicats I have completed the 120 required credits to graduate. Since my last class, it has been near impossible trying to graduate.

My Academic Advisor did not know how to graduate me out of UoP. First, I was told to wait three weeks for my Student Web Site to ping me. Then (and this was last week), I received an email from my Academic Advisor that I needed to complete a degree completion form (which I did). Now, I'm at my present situation...told that I must take another class. I am so upset about this matter, I want to speak with someone at UoP. However, I cannot find phone numbers beyond my Academic Advisor...whom is not returning my phone calls or emails.

Consequences are: finacial >$40K. I am in the process of consolidating my student financial laons with Salley Mae. I am technically within my grace period of my student loans because I am not attending full time according to UoP. If I take another class I'll add another student loan (but hopefully my full time status will cause my student loans to freeze again). My husband and I are moving soon and I am pregnant (all of these events were carefully planned to occur after my graduation!). This unorganized mess caused by UoP stresses me extremely. I do not recommend this University. I recommend Drexel University Online or Argosy University Online.

I started attending the University of Phoenix in Oct. 06. My first major issue with this establishment is that they told me, all I had to do for the first year was get a private loan for half of the year. Since I was a first year student the school had a financial aid program where they paid the second portion of my tuition. I ended up owing about $3,000 in back payment for my first year. The pell grant I got for this year, UOP used for the back payment. I was adviced to take out another two loans to cover the tuition of this year. My lender is CITIBank. I was approved for a citiassist loan and a stanford loan. Mind the fact while I'm having all these financial problems, the UOP finance office took months to just get my FAFSA done correctly.

Not only that but Latasha Turner's boss Shanna Hernandez never returned any of my calls, was never available in the office when I took time off work to come in the office and fix their finance problem. Also when I had a scheduled meeting with Mrs. Hernandez, she never showed up and left me speaking with a man named Daniel. Latasha Turner was supposed to be handling my financial aid issue, but when she was dealing with my account her office reported that I had an excess of fund by the lamount of $738. I was cut this check from the school. Daniel called me about a month later saying that my account was short $642.

I have had countless unanwsered emails. I've tried to make complaints within the school. I don't even know who is in charge over there. When I asked for the name and number, or email of Shanna Hernandez's boss Latasha would not give it to me. I want to transfer to a traditional college. I was told by Pural Lovedeep and her team of acedemic collegues that I would be able to tranfer in two years with an AA once I completed my lower division classes. Daniel insisted that I would not be able to tranfer because the credits I recieved from UOP could not be transfered. He told me that if I don't continue with UOP, I have just wasted about two years and have accumilated student loans of around $14,000 without interest, for nothing. This school is strong arming into continuing my degree program here. I don't want to go to this school. I want to learn computers and that don't have a comouter program. Daniel also said that I would be penalized by my lender CITIBank for not completing the next for classes inwhich the last I am $642 short. April Sampson has not helped me in my acedemic endeavor to change my program or to see which credits are tranferable if any.

Finally the last straw for me was last night. I'm in a Business Literature course/ENG-120. Last night was the second night of instruction. However, I missed the first due to the financial aid issues. We had a discussion on poems that delt with work and personal interpretations. Share Chroppers by Langston Hughes bring up a very sensitive subject for African Americans. While Mr. Hansen told the class of a previous experience that resulted in a negative application of this particular poem, he still asked the same question which envoked heated racial discussions. In this way I believe he intentionally tried to prevoke a riot or other racial tension for his own personal gratification. After the lunch break I told him that I was leaving because of the way he instructed the class was very offensive and tackless. He told me that he wished to see me in the hall way where he commenced to verbally abuse my comments in the discussion. He used threatening hand gestures and other body language where I felt he was trying to intimidate me. He even went so for as to swear in the acedemic setting.

This establishment does not provide proper instructors or instruction for most courses. I was told that I would be able to get my AA in two years. Now I no I was lied to about that as well. UOP's finance department is completely unorganized and they lie. I was told that I would graduate in 3.5 years but I'm actually looking at 5years. I've been cohersed into attending a so-called college that does not offer what I understood I would be majoring in.

I'm in debt of $14,000 and loss of 18 months worth of time energy and resources.

Two days later, my financial counselor called me to let me know she received the note from the ADG team, but now there is another problem. The financial institute I went through for Financial Aid stopped giving out loans. You know they had to of known about this for weeks.

I found another lender, did all the necessary paperwork, and was supposed to get a call from my financial counselor the following day, never did. I am set to start new classes next week, got a call from the financial counselor today to notify me that I was not clear to start the next set of classes. I am being pushed back, resulting in not graduation when I was told I would. I do not want this break, I want to be done with them. I would not recommend this school to anyone. On many different occasions I contacted my financial aid advisor (which not to mention changed almost every other month) in regards to my PELL Grant monies out of concern that I was not receiving it, but I qualified and was entitled to it. Every time I called I was assured that I was getting the full amount and if it didn't show up posted on my account history not to worry because the reason being was the way my classes were scheduled and the time that I applied for financial aid overlapped into another year.

Another time I was told I would recieve one big disbursement in the end because I did not recieve monies for one year and not to worry about it because they were handling it and taking care of it. So I trusted them and believed their reasons thinking that they do this everyday so they are experts in the area and know what they are talking about. I have since graduated from UOP as of this month and to my dismay I am missing three different PELL Grants which I was entitled to, totaling $4,564. I again contacted my Financial Aid Advisor regarding the matter and he is now telling me there is nothing they can do about it because I am not in that school year anymore despite it being all their fault. He never really addresses my concerns and keeps insisting for me to sign off on UOP's liability waiver. I never pursued action in previous years because I was always assured with some story by staff that it would work out and be fine and I would get every penny I was entitled too. Strangely, last week I accessed the information posted on the National Student Loan Database (nslds.ed.gov) and according to the information there I did recieve the funds. Based on my calculations I recieved to date $17,946 in PELL Grants, but the total amount stated on the database is $24,510. Can someone please tell me what is going on?

At one point, it got so bad that they called in a liason from Arizona to come and talk to us because our entire class was disgruntled. Well, here I am 7 years later (took breaks several times because I was so disgusted), and I have had numerous academic and financial counselors. No one seems to know what they are doing. I am so sick of hearing that someone will open up a heat ticket to figure out the problems.

Suspiciously, after I complained, my credits are now in audit status, and I cannot access my site. I believe they have double billed financial aid, as well, but cannot confirm for sure yet. Another odd thing--they are very guarded about phone numbers. For the life of me , I cannot get anyone or find on the internet, the names and numbers of the President, Director of Nursing, or their legal counsel. Every time I am ready to graduate, I am told, "Oh, our mistake, you lack one more credit in...." I would never recommend UOP to anyone. I decided to go back to school in December 2006. I began to research different colleges and universities and finally decided to go with University Of Phoenix. I was contacted by an enrollment counselor in early January of 2007 who basically rushed me through all of the paper work, including the loan and grant process. I finally started attending the University Of Phoenix around the middle of January. At first I was contacted by my financial aid counselor who told me that I would owe approximately $1700 to be split between my 4th and 8th classes. I was fine with this. As my 4th class approached I received an additional dispersement of $875 which was supposed to split between my 4th and 8th classes. I tried for quite sometime to get in contact with my financial aid counselor, which had changed two times since I started attending. I finally go through to my financial aid counselor who told me that I would owe $452 for my 4th class and $453 for my 8th class.

When I started my fifth class the University Of Phoenix was supposed to release my next round of financial aid grants and loans for my next 4 classes. I received a bill from the University for $2557 or so, which surprised me quite a bit. I tried to contact my financial aid and academic counselors on a daily basis for ten weeks. Finally I was able to speak with my academic counselor who helped me contact my financial aid counselor. When I talked to her, she told me that I did not have any more financial aid and that I would have to pay $1329 dollars for my 8th class before I could continue on. When I questioned her about what I had been told by my first financial aid counselor she told me that I had been misinformed and that this was what I owed. I continued to question this daily through my 5th, 6th and 7th, classes. I was so concerned about this issue that I failed my 7th class and was told that I would have to retake the class at my expense.

I became very discouraged because I could not raise the necessary funds to continue my degree program. I protested what I owed until my financial aid counselor suddenly found $2025 that had not been dispursed to me from my financial aid grants. When she discovered this, I had gone past the 29 day inactivity period and was assessed a $2000 return to lender fee. My financial aid counselor told me to get my financial aid grants and loans for the 2007-2008 school year so the university could get me back in class and take care of the return to lender charges. I reapplied for my grants and loans and low and behold my financial aid counselor told me that I still owed $1856 before I could start back to school. Not only that, but she told me that I would be assessed another return to lender fee and be charged for the class I failed and any classes I had not taken.

I am planning to file fraud and misappropiation of funds charges with the US Attorney General in my state and city. I have contacted the FBI who recommended this action. I am also reporting the University of Phoenix to the board of regents in my state as well as the Department Of Education and the BBS in both my city and state as well as in Phoenix, Arizona. I encourage anyone attending this school to withdraw and go somewhere else because of their questionable and unscrupulous business practices. Please don't be taken in like I was.

I am now in debt for $6500 in student loans and so far $1856 to the University of Phoenix. I want to return to school and receive my Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology, but I am extremely leery of any school because of this experience. I currently work for a large retailer with limited hours and will have great difficulty in repaying this loan or any other charges.

Well, I didn't have $1300 up front so I was forwarded to Platinum Recovery Services Collections agency. I made payment arrangements with them, starting with about $130 in December, 2007 and $50 each month after that. I was contacted today on Feb. 22nd, 2008, by the representative over my account at the collections agency and was told I can't continue to make small payments; I have to make larger payments to keep my payment plan going. All I can afford to still do is $50 a month, so he then told me that they would have to forward my account back to the University of Phoenix. They would place a negative mark on my credit report saying I am not paying, and then forward me to another collections agency.

I am very upset that they are not taking my payments and are threatening to give me negative marks on my credit report when I have been making payments all this time. What do I do, can anyone help me? All I want to do is continue to pay off my account at $50 each month, but the collections agency won't take my payments because they are too small. I even called the University of Phoenix, and they have no clue what is going on and referred me to their collections department who as far as I can tell, is not the same as Platinum Recovery Services. I left a message with the University's collections department, and I hope to receive a call soon so I can figure out what is going on and continue to pay on my balance owed.

As a result of my payments being denied, I have been told that they will mark my credit report as negative and that I haven't paid on the student loan when I have been paying each month as promised.

I am recently also seeking help from the Department of Education. My nightmare is as follows: I started attending Axia (aka) Western International University the sister school of University of Phoenix in 2004. Before the end of 2004, Appollo group had decided to close that location. They went for the name of W.I.U. while dropping Axia from the name. We were told in person by a representative that we could find another campus to attend or go to the University of Phx. I was very upset. Approx. in 2005 I did start attending the University of Phoenix. It was not a smooth transition. I have had a handful of Academic Advisers. You cannot catch one of them. The left hand never knows what the right hand is doing. All of the complaints

My complaint beyond that is when I transferred on such little notice since they closed my location, I did not know that both schools would receive funding from my loans. I found out in 2007 that I had an overlapping loan and a shortage of approx. $4,735.00. I did not see how. I could not go back to school until April of 2008 for funding. Now looking at my NSLDS information, I can see that they have EXTREMELY misused and abused my funds! Riddle me this, how can you attend two sister schools at once?

The best part of all, at my job I was investigating someone for fraud. It turned out to be my approx. 6th adviser! I called and made a stink; we both knew one another for the situation that was happening at my own job. I demanded to be given another adviser, and I stated I did not want my personal information viewed by this person. They tell me...you must take that up with your adviser. Less than 1 yr. later I have an overlapping loan. How in the world do they get away with doing this to so many people? Also, I have documentation for all of my claims in the form of 54 correspondence emails and a fat file from the NSLDS that just does not add up. One more note: I withdrew 08 or 2007. They have me withdrawn as of Feb. 2007.

I have had to pay for my own school to avoid default until it is resolved. I am stressed because no one from the school will provide documents on how, when and where it was spent. I feel like the employee of U of PHX who I investigated for fraud, is running around with my information. I cannot obtain any more funding. I have an inaccurate loan balance because I do not know where these funds went. I am physically and emotionally stressed out and depressed being approx. $16,000.00 in the hole and not knowing the accuracy. I have 36 credits that I cannot get until they get this money.

I was ostracized by UOP students and Faculty. I was told no one wanted me on their team and I could not be in the class. I have had several problems with this school since enrolling in 2004. I now have one upper division class remaining. I was told once again I cannot take the class because the other students do not want me in class. UOP continues to report to my lenders I am not enrolled in school. I have no lapse in attendance and have paid my fees. My lenders then harass me for loan payments. UOP faculty told me its my responsibility to notify the lenders when after UOP gave incorrect information. UOP attendance policy requires no more than one missed class in 5 weeks, my last course I missed one night of class. Several faculty members called me and e-mailed messages questioning my enrollment. I notified the instructor prior to missing class. I do not understand why UOP continues to harass me while I am trying to further my education.

Currently my program has been prolonged due to me being forced out of class and now they are trying to do it again. My schedule was also dropped without prior notice because I did not have a financial agreement in place. I would have paid for the class if I had prior notice. I spoke with academic counselor regarding loans being consolidated this has also prolonged my program completion date. Currently I am experiencing stress due to the students and faculty experience in class. I have migraine headaches prior to and during class each week.

Throughout my longer than anticipated experience at UoP, I encountered many inept, thoughtless administrative, teaching, and financial staff. One example of an experience with the financial department: I had been waiting for word from my academic advisor as to whether I would be required to take an upcoming course (so that I would know if I needed to pay for the course or not). One day before the course began, the financial dept. threatened to report me to the Credit Bureau if I did not pay immediately. Not wanting UoP to give me bad credit, I paid the $1,500. The following day I learned that I did not need the course. I asked for my money to be refunded. UoP replied they could not do that since I was enrolled and proceeded to give me an F for a course that I never attended and was not even required to attend.

But the fact that I did about 95% of the work for my learning team and other matters pales in comparison to my final experience with UoP. I went through my student teaching experience an unprecedented three times (Spring 06, Fall 06, and Fall 07). My first Cooperating Teacher had raging hormones due to a recent hysterectomy - my supervisor ignored my concerns regarding this very strange, unprofessional experience. My teacher PROMISED that I could complete my seminar with her if I ended this student teaching. However, I was dropped, given an F, told I had to retake the seminar and re-do my student teaching in the fall semester. My second Cooperating Teacher wanted to quit teaching, had me write papers for her portfolio on a nightly basis so that she could get another job, and offered me no learning experience. My supervisor shrugged this off. However, after a meeting with Chairperson of the Education Dept., president of UoP; Honolulu Campus, and my supervisor it was decided I would be given a chance to re-do my student teaching the following semester. (This is one and a half years - of student teaching, should be done in 6 weeks.)

During my final student teaching practicum experience, the Chairperson acted as my supervisor. She did not at any time give me a midterm evaluation, did not review much of the detailed work that a student teacher is obligated to perform, and the final evaluation that she gave me, was incomplete. With 37 credits completed, and two weeks left until my graduation date, the Chairperson/Supervisor dismissed me from the University of Phoenix! She flunked me on the grounds that I did not speak loudly therefore all of my students were not engaged in my lessons. This is ridiculous. I admit that I was very nervous when she was there as I had developed a sinking feeling about this school. In fact, it is safe to say that I have never experienced more anxiety in a school situation than during this time with the University of Phoenix. If this supervisor had only looked at the student work, all of my work, she would not have been able to make these negative comments. I filed a letter with the UoPs appeals board. They simply stated that since I did not finish my student teaching, I flunked. What are they talking about? I flunked because this supervisor refused to assess me completely and accurately.

After receiving this response, I spoke with the president of UoP; Honolulu Campus. He reiterated the supervisor's negative comments, told me that I couldn't take criticism, and most importantly, gave me no clear answers as to why my supervisor was not required to follow standard procedures and assess me accurately. I would think the heads of an education department would be concerned with accurate assessment. After $25,000, an A- average (and that includes the two Fs thrown my way), two weeks left until my MAED should have been completed, I am back to substitute teaching wondering how the Department of Education feels about qualified teachers being thrown away. Time to write a letter to the Higher Learning Commission, Department of Education, and other consumer organizations, and make certain that others are not treated as shabbily as those of us that have experienced the ineptitude of the University of Phoenix.

I tried to get involved with the University of Pheonix online out of Jacksonville, FL last summer. Aside from my wonderful student counselor, I had absolutely NO help from the financial department. After starting I had to go back home for my sister's wedding for about a week, filled and faxed all the appropriate paper work, and was told everything was fine. However, upon my return my financial counselor had magically up and quit while I was gone and decided not to tell me, AND apparently took ALL my records with her. Isn't that illegal? I was then considered a drop-out unless I sent a copy of my request of leave form. I finally was able to send it out; with no car it took time, but I was told I was still ok. NOT TRUE. When they received it, my counselor was informed that I had sent it too late. I was never previously informed of a deadline by which to receive the copy. So I was considered a drop-out after only STARTING my first class and was informed I must now pay for the classes I had not even taken--even though this was all due to their poor staff management.

NOW, I have even less faith in the education system; and being a military spouse, often the only option for school is online school. I am jobless do to health complications so the added debt of nearly $500 for a class I never took hits harder than most would think. On top of that ,it has to be paid off in 4 months - NO exceptions. And don't even think of asking to talk to a supervisor; you'll get your head lopped off - they can't even wait a single day past the due date so you can afford to pay, or they'll send it to collections. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL.

Prior to enrollment at University of Phoenix/ Axia College, which is an online course in information technology, I was told I was getting a grant to attend. Next thing I know I get student loan papers for not one loan but two. Much higher than the one I applied for. I was told that each block of classes which was two classes at nine weeks total would cost me $750 per block. Then I get a bill for $950 a block. So I call my enrollment councelor and he states that it was $950 per block, so I said ok, whatever. Three blocks into my Education in Information Technology I get another bill for the amount of $950 per CLASS. That is $1900 a block. So I called and called and didn't get any response. I finally got a hold of my financial advisor and she tells me that it was all written in the contract I signed. I never signed any contract. And I never signed for a $7500 loan. I signed for a $2500 loan. So I called my lender and canceled the other disbursement of my loan. However This school still burnt me for $4500. So I have filed a complaint with the BBB.

I am very discouraged about furthering my education through a university. So I have decided to attend a technical school. I still have a huge student loan to pay off because I listened to this University of Phoenix enrollment councelor. I attended that college for 7 months and learned absolutely nothing.

I've completed my masters in MBA at the University of Phoenix in Houston, Texas. My plan at first was to take a dual major, but after completing the first major, I decided not to go into a dual because I decided to get my teacher degree instead. I called and received forms from UOP and faxed the proper forms in to my financial aid counselor, and applied for my diploma. After 2 months I got a call from UOP to tell me because they changed my financial aid clerk, and they could not find my paper work, per Richard I owe UOP $2853.00. This is because they said I didn't give them permission to send the extra money that I had. They had to give it back to the lender. Basically they want me to pay for a class that I dropped.

I explained to Richard that it is not my fault that they can't keep employees, and that it's not my fault that paper work is lost. Richard also explained to me that because they can't find the forms, the money had to be paid. I ask why did UOP send only $4000 back when I had $5500.00 credit? He said that the university kept money because of an enrollment fee which was over $1000.00, I was told that fee was waived if you got a BA from the UOP and return for a MBA at the university--which was not true. I've also noticed money that was awarded, was never accounted for. When questions came up about it no one knew what happened.

Now I can't get my teacher certificate or enroll because UOP has put a lean on my account stating I still owe money. Please let me know what I can do. They are also holding my diploma and transcripts that were purchased on-line, as well.

Upon finishing my last class at University of Phoenix, I completed an online application and submitted a $65 fee online as well to process my diploma. When I went to the university's homepage where a complete payment history could be found it showed that all credits were met and that I had a zero balance since my entire education was funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs and all payments were made by electronic fund transfer. I contacted my academic advisor concerning the balance and was told that I still had an outstanding balance on a class from July that had not been paid and that I needed to contact my financial advisor. I asked how was this possible when my VA case manager paid the bill for all my remaining classes and even when I checked my account history through the university homepage, all classes had indeed been paid for.

The problem stemmed from the university sending VA a bill with the wrong date and not notifying VA or myself that an error was made. Instead of the university simply making a correction in the computer that would have changed the date and have the funds from VA going towards paying for the right class, the university refunded the funds for the July class back to VA resulting in a balanced owed and a delay in my diploma being processed. I diligently stayed in contact with both my VA case manager and UoP financial advisor about the status of payment for the class so that I could receive my degree. When I spoke with my VA case manager, he assured me that he owed UoP nothing and that he was ready to close my file and I insisted that the university claimed it was due money. I finished my last class on August 13, 2007, attended graduation in September of that year and as of today, January 6, 2008 have yet to receive my diploma despite having the entire mix-up cleared.

The remaining balance for the class in dispute was paid in December. I don't know how many times I had to call the university prior to getting the bill straightened out to check the status of payment for the class. The financial advisor would always tell me there was nothing that she could do to override the system to go ahead and process my degree because she was simply following protocol. Never mind the fact that VA had paid for three years worth of classes up to that point on time and would pay for that class as soon as the mix-up was cleared. In the meantime, I was applying for jobs and because I said I had a bachelors degree, they wanted to see a copy of it that I was unable to provide since I do not have a transcript or diploma. I was finally able to get the train moving by getting my VA case manager on my cell phone and the UoP financial advisor on my home phone and relay messages as to what was going on with the payment. I became so frustrated with the situation that I requested that the university refund my $65 diploma processing fee.

It seemed that once I got straight about what happened in terms of the wrong date of the class and the funds being refunded back to VA that getting my diploma would automatically be taken care of. I asked the school about the $65 diploma processing fee that was credited back to me and said that they would waive me having to pay it, however, there is still a balance of $65 that needs to be paid. It has been almost 5 months since finishing my last class and I still haven't received my diploma from an error that the university made and one which they have refused to even offer the slightest apology for.

The instructor decided for himself that I didn't deserve the grade. He never informed me about his decision. He didn't seemed to want to work with me after the fact and never followed University's instructions as stated in the syllabus. The instructor didn't care for my well being and not concerned about my success based on my eduational goals. The instructor was not available to talk over phone as instructed in the syllabus. I've made attempts to call but never returned my call. However, he did communicate to me via email but still didn't respond to me in an ample time. This is an online class where the instructor cannot be seen in person.

It cost me emotional distress. I've just wasted $1500 for a 5 week class where I feel like I didn't learn at all. The instructor never followed the syllabus and didn't care about my well being.

I have attended 9 classes with the University of Phoenix. I moved from Florida to Pennsylvania. While in Fl. I was attending ground classes, but in Pa. I am too far from a campus. While in the process of moving and getting situated and settled in, I fell out of attendance requirements. I tried to get transferred to online, but since I was out of attendance my financial aid was in the process of being returned to the lender. Finally I was scheduled as a shared student after my financial claimed to have stopped the return to lender as long as I was in a class within one week. I went back to class and was then told that I had to resubmit my financial aid paperwork because it was not signed correctly. I did; and my financial aid counselor said my file was certified and my funds would be posted in mid Dec.

Dec. 31, no funds and now a bill for over $3000. Apparently (as it was halfway explained to me after 6 weeks of trying to talk to someone), my funds were actually returned to the lender without paying for the last class I attended and have been billed for my next scheduled class as well. I was assured my financial aid would pay for the balance on my account as I have always had more than enough funds to pay for all my classes. Not so. The class they did not apply my funds to, they say was from the last academic year, so I have to pay that out of pocket. Now my funds have not been posted to my account, and I owe a class from what they say was last year but was actually this year; and my $10,500 loan plus my Pell grants have not been posted even though I have had the same lender from the previous year, and my financial aid was already approved and certified with a schedule of mid-Dec. for dispersement.

They erred and did not use the funds on my account to pay for my class; and now before I can take another class or even transfer schools I have to pay them over $3000 because they will not release my transcripts for the 9 classes I have completed. They made the mistake, and now their mistake is costing me money I do not have.

I had started the school back in May. When talking to my enrollment counselor she explained to me that I should be receiving full financial aid, not making it clear that, that's including loans. So I started my class and my financial aid advisor was suppose to call me and she didn't so I called her she said that she has not heard anything so three weeks into the class I decided to contact her again.

Finally I called she told me that I got full financial aid and had taken out loans plus owe somemore money I told her that I wasn't aware of that and she basically told me that I was a liar. I asked her how can I get out of these classes she told me that I can withdraw but then I would owe for this class I am taking so I decided to stay, plus I had to deal with the rude professor.

After all of that was finished I had to take out another loan. With this I was suppose to have the extra money sent to me once the money was disbursed now they are tell me that they are not going to send me the money because I have other fees. This is a double talking school and keep you confused.

I had to withdraw a second time because of the same problem I sat in class while I was ostricized and shown total disrespect as the whole class talked about me as if I was not present. I talked with my academic advisor and found that the school will not take any action against the students who did this to me nor make it an issue, I was told by an instructor that I should look at myself.

I am a current student at UoPHX and it is not easy. You are really on your own reagrding everything from assignments to class choice, financial aid, aid disbursements, academic counseling, instructor questions, tutoring, everything and anything! The education and academic content is pretty good though, but know before you commit that your academic counsler and financial aid contact will change a dozen times and they will not notify you at all and lie to you about why your emails or phone calls have not been returned. You are on your own with them.

The instructors are hard to get a hold of outside of class. Financial aid does not cover your tuition. I owe about 500 bucks every two classes or every two months. It may be an acclerated program, but know that you will not receive any help from administration once you are in. Good luck.

By the second week on June 6, 2007, I decided to withdraw from the university as I found the lacking in the quality education I was looking for. I immediately emailed my enrollment counselor as well as the financial advisor about my intent to withdraw ASAP. The response I received from was that she would be forwarding my email to Richard and that he would assist me with the process.

I received an email relating that I had indeed been dropped from their program on June 6, 2007 and that I would owe for the entire 6-week course ($2058.33). She also related that I should have already received invoices for that. I have received nothing from the UOP as of to date. I am a news editor of a small publication in central Colorado. I am writing this because of my recent experience with University of Phoenix Online, where I signed up for a Master's Degree program under the umbrella of a student loan for which I partly qualified because of my status as a veteran (US Army, Field Medic 1985-1988, ROK & Ft. Lewis, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster/Expert Field Medical Badge/Good Conduct Medal/ E-4 at end of service).

I had hoped to offer my readers a nice story about the usefulness of this program. Instead I found a nightmare of disregard that took advantage of my status as a working adult and veteran, and literally mocked me as a consumer.

This company does not deliver what it advertises, sets up policies that make it more difficult for working adults to resolve disputes, and seems only concerned with exploiting students to access the tax dollars for which they qualify as veterans. In my book the latter borders on treason.

Particularly, it takes no responsibility for its own technical difficulties, and does not allow students to resolve issues on this in a reasonable time frame for them to choose whether or not to continue studies before this resolution. I greatly resent that their misrepresentation of what they offer, their unwillingness to admit error, and their policies and procedures excluding dealing with issues when they arise, may leave me owing for one class and affect my qualification for this same loan in the future.

I got taken in by their false claim that they care about helping working adults. The details follow:

I began taking a class, as part of a course of study, in early January, 2007. I immediately had problems, as I had started access right on the day the class started, and had little time to prepare. Though I had been told that the week ran Tuesday through Monday, yet I soon found that most students seemed to treat it as a Monday-Friday week, which left me actually starting late relative to other students.

When I downloaded the syllabus it somehow did not save completely. While it did not have everything I expected, it had nothing indicating its incompleteness (page 1 of XX for example). While I did realize other students knew things I did not, and I occasionally posted "What am I missing?" questions, I did not know that I missed anything until I missed an assignment.

In addition, a couple of times I could not log on when I needed to. This was not a problem on my end. I could not even contact tech support, as I only had the info online and could not access it. It was a problem on the University of Phoenix's end.

I am a working adult with limited times to work on the assignments. I had been assured that the process was designed to help working adults, not hinder them. This was like going to school and finding the door closed, yet the school would not accept any responsibility for this. I did call tech support after the fact to get a ticket. This happened twice in the second week, seriously interrupting my schedule, and limiting what I could post and write. Ixpressed an interest in dropping the class and staff talked me out of it.

I redoubled my efforts, trying to make up for what I had lost, realizing that with all my effort I might still get the "B" I needed to keep up my student loan. I posted a lot. The fifth week I again could not get access on two occasions when I needed to. On one of these occasions, as a working adult, I did not have time to call tech support at all. On the other occasion I called, was told there was a forty minute wait, and figured that if there is a forty minute wait, they know there is a problem. As a working adult, I did not have time to wait forty-minutes.

When again my complaints met disregard, I just stopped trying to go to class, as all it was at this point was an unnecessary stress, since I could not and would not get an acceptable grade anyway. Throughout all this the effort seemed to be to put off doing anything to support my request. Eventually a man named Chris F said he would try to help me. He complimented me on how much I'd posted. I said, yes, I'm an exceptional student, and I greatly objected to being denied the opportunity for my grades to reflect it. Then he said he did not believe I'd had any technical problems because I posted so much.

First, getting on all the time to post responses to discussion questions is different from getting on when I need to for research in the library to finish my report. Second, I greatly resent being called a liar when one occasion there was a forty-minute wait, so there was clearly a system problem on their end (unless they routinely state there is a forty-minute wait to keep calls down.)

The only apparent dispute resolution available was after the grades came through, a process taking two weeks or so. It means that people disputing a result might have to begin their next class before knowing the outcome of the resolution to ensure continued financial aid. This all made sense when I opened the SallieMae documents and saw that the funds transferred to the school were for much of the course of study, not just this class. This means that as long as someone is enrolled with the school processing the loan, Apollo Group, Inc. gets to invest the float on about $10,000.00. It therefore behooves them to stall dispute resolutions as long as possible, even if it means the student has to "take a hot crumpet" as some Brits might say.

Nobody would refer me to anyone to resolve this until after the class was over. After the problems the second week I stated that I would be appealing any grade I got, and requested them to contact me. They did this after the class was over. By then I had done this, but I had to go through Apollo Group and play my press card to do it, which means however this resolves, I will be writing a story about it.

It also means that students without that sort of leverage don't stand a chance. My situation is currently awaiting resolution, but I find this completely unacceptable use of government funds, especially associated with veteran status. If I am having this kind of trouble, what kind of problems must undergraduate students have? They don't know shoeshine from wood stain when they're freshmen.

Right now I stand to owe about $1,800.00 and possibly have my future qualification for student loans in jeopardy.

She advised me to be put on leave of absence instead so i could pick up when i returned from duty.

I agreed and she said all she needed was a copy of my orders. I did not have a copy yet, and told her that and she said to get it to her when i got a chance. I didn't end up deploying until the end of Feb or beginning of March. I was in contact with her and she again said no problem.

When I finally deployed I was gone in training for about a month when due to an injury I was sent back home. I contacted Rika once during the time I was gone in response to a request for orders. I told her we still did not have official orders yet, which was true. when i was sent back home, the first thing i did was try to enroll back into class only to find out that they had, in 3 weeks time, declared my account inactive, returned any money to the lender for financial aid, and sent the leftover balance to their collection agency.

I tried for about 2 months to resolve the situation speaking to everyone in the food chain from Rika to Mike B (the next person down in finance below the president of the school) All refused to help and said I was to pay them 1900 dollars that i owed and they would still not take anything off my credit report.

I needed to stay focused on school so i enrolled in the local community college and started classes in summer. After starting class there, Ted G, 2 positions above Rika, calls me and says they found the mistake and all i owe is 350 dollars and he could get me enrolled, but the catch was the i had to enroll back with UOP immediately. I told him I already enrolled in another school and they would have to wait until this class was over. He said no deal.

I didn't have the money since i just enrolled in another school and was out of work for a month after i returned home due to injury. He laughed at me and said what was the point in me disputing it if I didn't have any money anyways? i tried to explain to him that the situation would have been different if they had listened to me to begin with. So now this is on my report and I have turned to a military attorney for help.

About a month ago (Sept 2006) I found out through a fellow student that a classmate was forced to take a semester off because UoP hit her with an unexpected bill and refused to allow her to move forward with her classes until she paid up. This was not the first time I had heard of a complaint like that, so I immediately emailed my financial advisor (Mary A) to be sure that my financial package was in order and no unexpected bills loomed in the shadows!

First of all, it takes FOREVER to get one of these people to call you back or respond to an email. I even complained in one of my end of class surveys because she never responded to any of my inquiries. She finally responded to this one and told me my FAFSA was all set through March of 2007 - but that I could fill it out and she'd hold it and submit it when more funding was needed. So I breathed a sigh of relief and went on with my next class.

Well, I was supposed to start another class yesterday, but when I went to sign in the icon was gone and a new start date for next Tuesday (10/17) appeared. I have recently applied to another University's Masters program with a start date of June 2007 because I was supposed to be graduating from UoP on 5/18/07... now my graduation date has been moved to June 4th! I was completely shocked - no one contacted me about any change in my schedule! So I called my academic advisor (Stefanie) and left a message about this new issue. She called me back today and said that my NEW financial advisor (yes, Mary has apparently moved into another position and no one even bothered to send out an email informing her students of the change in staff) stated that I owe the school $916.00!

She also told me that until I pay up I cannot move forward with my studies. How can this happen? She said it must be because I dropped a class - I did drop a science class within the first week and switched into another class. But before I dropped this class I called the school to ensure I would not be charged for the drop; otherwise I would have stuck it out. I was assured that I had more than enough credit in my financial statement to cover any fees for the drop so I moved on. Now several months later they're backpedaling! I am also planning to file a complaint with the Higher Learning Commission which accredits the school.

In June of 2005, I applied at the University of Phoenix Online (UOP) classes. I was so excited about furthering my education and UOP was my ticket to a great future. My Business and Technology Counselor, Mr. Jeffrey W helped me fill out the admission application. Originally, I indicated that I did not want any loans for school and that I would only apply if Financial Aid would cover most of the costs. Mr. Jeffery W informed me that in order to finish the application I had to choose a loan and that this was just a standard procedure.

I told him several times that if Financial Aid will not cover the school I do not want any loans. He responded by saying that I should not worry. He informed me that $10,000.00 would be guaranteed with financial aid and that only about $1,425.00 would be the out of pocket expense. Therefore, I picked out the loan that Mr. Jeffery W recommended which was ACS out of UTICA, NY and my application was processed. He said that everything looked good and that I will start my class on June 28, 2005.

From there on, I was under the impression that Financial Aid covered the $10,000 and that the $1,425.00 would be out of pocket. I began making payments towards the $1,425.00 back in the middle of October 2005. Recently I have been thinking about focusing more on my current career, so I decided to resign from UOP. On March 6, 2006, I contacted my financial aid counselor from the University of Phoenix, Ms. Sonia C and asked her how many more classes would I have to take in order for the Financial Aid not to fall thru. Sonia told me that I would need to take two more classes in order to omit financial repercussions and return to lender fees.

From there, I began my classes, and continued thinking that I would not have to pay if I just finish the two remaining classes. Meanwhile, the lender (ACS) called me stating that in about 6 months they will send me my first bill because I am no longer in school. At that moment, I thought that ACS was a department of financial aid and that they wanted to send me the bill because they thought that I was no longer in school, because I took a break before. I told them that I was currently in school and that the papers must have crossed from school indicating that I was attending. They told me that I have to call the school and get an ‘In School Deferment form’ filled out.

Again, I contacted my financial aid counselor and we filled out the form. Sonia informed me that it would take a few weeks to process the paperwork and that in a few weeks I should follow up. On April 17, 2006, I contacted my financial aid counselor Sonia; I left her a voicemail inquiring about how everything was going. I also called the lender (ACS) still thinking that I was getting Financial Aid. They told me that everything was received and processed and that everything was OK. I then emailed Sonia letting her know that everything was OK and to remind her that the current class would be my last and to make sure that there will be no out of pocket expense for me after that. ...

She responded with “You will not have a return to Lender with the school. You will have to repay your loan after the deferment period is up, 6 months from the last date of attendance. I cannot tell you you don't owe the lender anything, however you will not have a Return to Lender with the school and lender. For repayment question please contact your lender directly. Please let me know if this helps. Thanks” (Sonia Cleveland, Tue, 18 Apr 2006 13:58:09 -0700) I called the lender and they told me that I owe $10, 558.00, I panicked and started asking more question. I email Sonia asking “Sonia, Please call me when you get a chance because I am very confused right now, why am I paying a loan in 6 months if financial aid was to cover most of the school payments. $10,000 is a lot of money, and when I was signing up for school I was told that I wont have to pay anything, accept the occasional $1000 and something which I paid already once, few months ago. The $10,000 I was told, was guaranteed by financial aid.

The UOP tricked me into believing that the $10,000.00 was covered by financial aid.

And I should not be held responsible for the bills that were now coming in. As it turns out now I’m getting a bill from the bank, because the full amount of the loan, which was issued to you, was not returned to them.

I was enrolled in the MBA/TM program, and had completed all but 2 of the courses required for the degree when I was told that Financial Aid for the last two classes would not be available because they only accounted for 6 total credits and this was not full-time student status. When I entered the program I was assured that I could get Financial Aid for the entire program that would cover all courses plus some extra. Furious, I contacted the home campus financial aid office and they said this is incorrect. When I called back the local Detroit Campus, I was told that aid was not available and given the reason as I stated above.

When I explained to them what my discussion with the home campus office covered, they said they'd get back to me. I received a letter withdrawing me from the program, freezing my transcripts, both undergraduate (which was completed and paid for) and my graduate.

To date, nothing has transpired, my account is still frozen, my transcripts are still frozen and I have been told that I cannot finish until I pay for all three classes up front; $3,300.00.

I started then I quit because I didn't think the school was all they claimed. I HAD to sign into class 4 days a week, my learning teams were not receptive to my ideas and were always saying my questions/projects were too controversial, the instructors agreed. I wanted to talk politics, race, and religion, they thought those topics were not for the class or to do projects on. My thought was every real university has a degree in politics. Plus my undergrad university had religion as a major and there were an abundance of race relations classes.

I figured if these timely topics were taboo then the UoP was not for me. So anyway I had an outstanding balance of $1455 which was to be paid over a 3 month period. The 1st payment I paid on the date agreed upon, the 2nd payment was to be paid 4 weeks later, but I paid it 2 weeks after the 1st payment which made it 2 weeks early. Plus I paid almost double the amount due. So the 3rd and final payment wasn't due until 6 weeks later, but all of a sudden my phones starts ringing off the hook and the letters beging to pile in.

I finally was able to speak with a UoP representative and he yelled at me and told me that I threw their accounting off by my stunt and that I should just pay the final balance today. I told him I had to wait until payday but he was so angry he hung the phone up on me and promptly placed my account in financial collections even though my payment wasn't due for 3 days! I thought the law said you had 6 months before such action could be taken. I didn't even get one day!

I am now in collections and it has impaired my credit! I was just getting my credit back in order after years of financial devastation and a bankruptcy.

He continued to call me back until I answered and asked him to stop calling. Then today I received a call from Adam, the Admissions Counselor. I told him I was going to another school and please take me off their list.

I just checked my email and received the following from Adam: "Hello Becca, I am a little confused. I know you had requested information from the University of Phoenix and expressed interest in continuing your education. However, when I contacted you it didn't seem that pursuing higher education was a serious goal of yours. At this time I regret to inform you that we are only looking for serious perspective students. Only those with strong motivation and a desire to set themselves apart from their peers are considered for admissions. I would encourage you to revisited your own motivation for returning to school and contact me when you are ready to challenge yourself. My contact information is below. I look forward to speaking with you down the road when you are more committed to your educational goals! "

What kind of school is this??? It reminds me of a stalker situation!! I am completely disgusted by their 'sales' approach and the fact that they can't seem to take no for an answer.

I was looking into taking classes through University of Phoenix online. I was pressured greatly by a counselor and was repeatedly emailed, called, harrassed and pushed into enrolling. I agreed because I did want to pursue a Master's Degree, however, I had repeatedly stated that I did not want to enroll or even start classes until I was approved for financial aid as I had no other way to pay. I repeatedly stated this and was told and pressured by my counselor and a financial advisor that my financial aid was being processed and do worry, but I needed to get started with classes. When I received a letter stating that I was "denied" financial aid, I told UOP to drop me out of the class because of this letter.

I was then called, emailed, etc. and told that this letter was sent in error and everything was being processed with my financial aid. I was pressured to have my start date changed for the class and it was changed even though I did not want to start ANY class until my financial aid was "awarded" to me. I was ignored and a changed start date of April 4th was inacted. Not even before the first week was over, I sent an email requesting withdrawal from UOP as no information or approval of financial aid was received.

A week or two after such, I was sent an email and received a phone call stating that I had a balance due on my student account. I was astonished by this. I then sent an email back to Jonathan Smout concerning this matter. He then sent me an email back and stated those were the charges for the class and that my account was being turned over to collections already. To date, I have yet to do anything about this, but I am trying to obtain as much information as possible online before filing a claim in Small Claims Court against UOP.

I contacted University of Phoenix because I was interested in online degree programs. I did everything I needed to enroll after the admissions counselor assured me that my financial aid and student loans would cover most of the tuition and fees. After the online course began, the counselor contacted me to say that I would need to pay $400 per month. I told him that I could not afford that and would have to drop the class. Months later I received a collection notice for books that were supposed to be free. The counselor never told me that I needed to return the books.

I refused to pay and tried to return the books by mail. University of Phoenix returned the books to me saying that they could not be returned. Every time I hear the University of Phoenix mentioned, I tell whoever is mentioning them about this. Regis University is the way to go. I ended up getting a 4-year degree, high quality education in 3 years at a much cheaper price. Regis University based out of Colorado is the best! I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to pursue a degree online.

I started the online MBA program in 2001. For the first classes I took, everything went fairly smoothly, as I was on a corporate payment plan. In 2002 I got divorced and took a short leave of absence. When I started my program back up, I ended up having to apply for financial aid (I couldn't afford the taxation) in order to finish my program. I worked with numerous individuals who promised that my financial aid would be processed and that I could take my courses.

In 2004, I was at a point where I could no longer afford to attend without the aid and I officially applied for the financial aid. My advisor at the time said that it would be approved with no issues and that I would have it in a month. Over the next several months, I was alternately told that they didn't process it because I was on the corporate aid, and that they had processed it and I would be getting it soon. I didn't know which to believe - the second choice should have been obvious by this point. Over the next several months, I struggled with the financial aid department. After talking me into taking a summer course without the aid approved "because it will be processed in time" and I wouldn't have to worry.

At one point I was assured that my aid would be approved and provided by July. I was talked into taking ANOTHER course at this time with the promise of aid on the way. Around this time, my advisor stopped responding to my emails and phonecalls. I ended up sick during this time and ended up getting an incomplete. I was unable to finish the class in time, and was told I'd have to retake it (which would have to come out of my pocket entirely). In September, I found out the advisor was no longer with the company and I had a new one. He promised the same things as the first, yet I still did not get aid processed.

There was no way that I could retake the course without any aid, but the new advisor talked me into it as well, saying that he could approve financial aid retroactively. Several complications later, I still had not received any aid. I was suffering major financial hardship at this time, which caused major physical issues and I ended up with another incomplete that I had to cover (trying to pay my bills that I would have been able to cover had UP processed my financial aid as promised). At this point I was told that I would have to retake those two course - paying out of my pocket - before they could process my aid. I took out hardship withdrawals out of my 401k to do this and I successfully completed those two classes. ...

I had to take out several hardship withdrawals (penalized) from my 401k to pay for classes I was promised I would be covered by financial aid with. I was forced and coerced into a position where I had to take a class that I couldn't afford that I am still trying to pay off slowly - that should be adequately covered by financial aid (Either Sallie Mae or Citibank - they have their option!). I nearly had to file bankruptcy last summer to get through this, but I stuck it out because I felt it was the right thing to do, even though I had been wronged greatly and lied to. After almost two years of going through this financial aid circus, I broke down to where I had to go on anti-depressants in order to deal with the extra excessive financial burden I had to deal with. I haven't attended classes since April of 2005, yet I am still dealing with the physical, emotional and economic effects on my experience at UP. I still don't have the MBA that I have worked very hard for, either. I don't know if I will ever be able to finish it if UP won't follow through with the financial aid.

I was told that my aplication fee would be waived if I purchased $30 to $40 worth of school supplies for underprivileged children. Upon bringing these items in they informed me that since I was not starting till the date I was, I was not eligible and needed to pay the application fee.

Well I paid the fee. They tried to take the school supplies also, and I told them that if they wanted the school supplies, they needed to waive my application fee, which they wouldn't so I kept the school supplies for my own children. I should have walked away, but wanted my BS, which I was actually getting from the school. I started with the same Gen300 that everyone takes and being a PC tech, I already new half of what they were trying to teach. The learning teams took up too much of my time, and what they were trying to teach, I had already taken in other schools, in which I had attended. Well, since they would not let me pass out of the class, I dropped out after the third week.

Upon dropping out, they sent my student loan back and now they are billing me for the class. I have spoke to the local FA department and they keep insisting that since I dropped out and have not attended 60% of the semester, I am not elegable for Finiancial Aid. Well since i applied for a student loan and was given the loan by an instution other than the UoP, It is to be used to pay for my education. They will not request for my loan to be rturned to pay the balance. I refuse to pay any balance to them, I had a student loan to pay for this and they would not use it. No one from the UoP will assist in this matter, as they refuse to even respond to my emails.

I read the complaint concerning UOP and was concerned because I received my Master's through UOP. I worked my behind off while teaching fulltime. I earned the A's I received, as did the other members of my team. Although there were others who did not receive A's because their work was not worth an A. I only had one teacher that I was not happy with, and this could happen in a regular educational setting as well, so overall, I worked with professionals in the field who were well trained and demanding of quality work. My teachers were available to discuss problems with me by email or in phone conversations. Work was returned on time and corrected. Teaming was a wonderful experience except for one class where a member was in another country and simply chose not to contribute his share.

I started the program with a group of dedicated educators who were working on their Masters also. We were told frequently that we were an incredible group because we ALL worked at 100% and produced quality work. Perhaps because we were all women who made the program count, we were successful. I not only learned what I needed to be considered a Master of Curriculum and Instruction in Education, but also made some life long friends in Alaska and California.I put in 120% effort and earned every A. Was it tough? You bet...but anything worth doing is worth doing well, and my experience at both on site universities and online is that you should get what you earn. Once I was finally able to do so, the class was a basic course on the interaction with employees. After the first month, I contacted their admissions department and informed them that their programs where not what I expected and requested to withdraw. I was told that I could do this if I find that their programs did not meet my needs or expectations.

About nine months later I started receiving letters requesting $1350 for the courses that I never took. I responded to those letters informing them that I decided to withdraw from the their program back in Fedruary. UOP ads say "attend class only one night per week". What they don't say is that you are also required to meet with a Learning Team once a week and "recommended" that a team meeting lasts for 5 hours. So it's really two nights a week. After I completed my first course (which was GEN 300 -- an "Intro to College" course that I didn't need since I had already attended college and university but was told I had to take), my admissions counselor informed me that, because I only had three students in my class, my schedule was changing from Monday night to Tuesday night. I told her it is a hassle to change nights with my employer and she assured me it wouldn't change for at least six months. The next day, I was assigned to an academic counselor who changed my schedule to Wednesday, then told me it was uncertain and I would probably stick to Tuesdays, depending on the outcome of my proficiency tests.

My counselors told me that it was okay to miss a class and that instructors are flexible with making up assignments or doing assignments early. Well, my second class (which had already been moved from May 5 to May 20) was going to have its final (including an oral presentation with my team) and I was going to be on vacation. My counselor did NOT allow me to change and said I just had to work it out with the instructor. The instructor hadn't a clue and it was a bit of a problem. We agreed that I would do my 5th week presentation at the 4th week's class. So my whole learning team had to do the same to accommodate my vacation!

I attended the University of Phoenix, Santa Teresa Campus, New Mexico. I applied for financial aid. The University of Phoenix did not disclose what kind of aid I was getting and refused to disclose my aid package. I sent an inquiry as to my aid package in March of Last Year. Mr. Collins, the head financial officer sent me a screwed-up policy with numerous miscaculations as to the academic hours the university required and as to the financial assistance based on the academic year.

The policy stated 27 credit hours in 54 weeks to meet the 12-hour rule.

Then the University stated that it was their policy to require 27 credit hours per year. At 6 weeks per class and a week gap between each class as my schedule showed was not 54 weeks but rather 63. Under 34 CFR 668.2, the academic year can be no longer than 36 weeks nor less than 30 unless the Department of Education waives the time period.

Anyhow, looking over the 12 Hour Rule, 34 CFR 668.2, Known as the 12 Hour Rule the Department of Education mandateas that all universities comply with the clock hour requirements of 15 hours of instruction time per 1 credit hour of class. The University of Phoenix only provides 25 hours of instruction time instead of 45 hours of instruction time which is fraud.

On 25 hours of instruction, the University is only entitled on a $900 dollar course, for instance, to $500 yet they are charging the United States Government and students under the Title IV program the full $900.00.

Anyhow, I was unaware of the 12-Hour Rule and the major violations of this rule by the University of Phoenix. Upon inquiry I went to the campus at Santa Teresa, New Mexico on March 14, 2002 and was met by the president of the University, Wally Hedgecock, and the Vice President of the New Mexico campus, Randy Lichtenfeld.

Upon waiting for my academic advisor, both of these individuals ordered me off the campus stating, "It is the policy of the University of Phoenix to suspend all students who threaten to sue the University over financial aid." I think the paranoia stems from the fact that the University of Phoenix's entire financial aid program was run by Arthur Andersen at the time.

I left the campus and on March 14, I received a letter from Randy Lichtenfield stating that I had been officially suspended and that if I were to return to the University of Phoenix that they would call the authorities. A month after that around April 6, 2002; I received a letter from Randy Lichtenfeld stating that I have been charged with sexual harassment. Somewhat frivilous, but the University of Phoenix was vehement. In May, I was formally expelled.

After extensive reasearch I found numerous negative articles on the University of Phoenix; and that indeed it was in violation of the 12-Hour Rule as quoted by the American Federation of Teachers, the Irascible Professor, and by the damning of all, the OIG Report, No. 40 submitted to Congress. This report states that, in essence, the University of Phoenix was caught in receiving overpayments of $54.6 million in Title IV student financial assistance, and that the Office of Inspector General demanded the Universtiy of Phoenix pay up this amount of money.
