I expected, as advertised, as a new patient to begin with a consultation, meet the dentist, discuss a plan. Instead, I was taken directly to the panoramic x-ray room by someone who had no idea why I was there. Long story made short, I have serious pre-existing health issues and needed to know if I were a candidate for upper dentures, or what else could be done for an infected crowned tooth, and another broken tooth. I was given no alternatives by employee Jessi... They couldn't discuss anything without the panoramic x-rays (I've had massive radiation from ears down due to cancer on my heart and was terrified of more. I have many problems from that). She eventually let me speak with a dentist.

Turned out that the dentist and at least three other overbearing employees had no compassion and seemed to try to humiliate me by telling me at length how harmless radiation is today. It was repeated three, or more, times. I needed to get help with my teeth, so I finally agreed to the panoramic scan. The tech was a very young girl. She had me remove my earrings, but not my glasses, necklace, nor metal hair clips at the sides of my head.

After the scan she said something went wrong and my scan was not good and she would have to do it over again. I refused. Two other workers joined the young tech and told me it had to be done. Well, no it didn't and I refused. So the techs spoke with the dentist, and I heard one say that it didn't work because I was "too short." I am 5'2" with another inch added for my shoes 5'3". Soon the dentist tried to convince me that I need another scan--mine didn't turn out because I am "too short."

They scan kids don't they? Aren't other people 5'3"? I'm betting that this young girl is not a Licensed tech or that would never have happened, nor would such a horrible attempt at an excuse be acceptable even by the dentist. I was so traumatized by this entire event that I became physically ill which created an issue with my heart that was just today seen by my family doctor, with an upcoming cardiologist appt. on Monday.

I had asked in writing for a copy of a bitewing x-ray they did and also a copy of the scan which, according to the advertising on their website can be had for FREE by the patient after their visit. I was told my scan was not in their computer. And, at this time I am still waiting for the bitewing to be sent... 3 weeks and counting. Bottom line: False Advertising, Lies, possibly unlicensed personnel.

My wife, a person with insurance, went to Aspen for dentures. The teeth were pulled, top plate made and put in. Then with their lifetime re-lining promise, they decides 18 months later to stop doing as they had promised because they claimed that her insurance didn't cover $187, the insurance company says they paid all but what we paid. Aspen is a rip off, now she has dentures that do not fit properly. Such a scam. DO NOT USE ASPEN DENTAL.

My temporary dentures fit me perfect. About a year later I got my permanent ones. They made them too narrow chunks of food was getting lodged in my cheeks and I got blisters and now calluses on both sides of my tongue. Finally they said they would redo them. Worst mistake I made. They were so bad so I asked for my money back so I could go somewhere else. They said no it's a ninety day money back guarantee (your gums take 6 to 12 month before you can fitted for your permanent set) so needless to say to with all the damage that my dentures caused me I will have to send 10,000 to 20,000 to fix, I have to get my bottom gums rebuilt and a whole new set of dentures that fit correctly. When I smile you can't even see that I have bottom teeth.

I made my first and only appt with them because of a broken tooth that got infected and they were the only place that could get me in fast for an extraction. My appt was 815am. By the time every salesperson (because every person in their office is dually trained as a high power salesperson) got done with me and they actually got to my procedure it was 11 am. The only reason I didn't walk out was the pain I was in. They ate also way overcharging. I overpaid (I was a cash PT) by at least $150. This is not my first rodeo. I will never go back. The whole appt was nothing but a high powered rag teamed sales pitch.

The doctor only waited about 2 minutes after giving me numbing shot before he started to try to extract tooth and it caused pain. Every other time I got dental work doc would wait 10 to 15 min after giving shot for it to take effect. After 5 days it was hurting so bad I couldn't sleep right. After taking 15 ** a day for 2 days straight my stomach started to feel upset. Called them to ask if it was possible to get a 2 or 3 day supply of something stronger till all the bone chunks worked their way out. Their response left me feeling accused of being some type of junkie and was told their doctors don't prescribe any pain medications. Then they wanted me to return to the butcher that worked on me the first time (apparently so he could finish me off). Do not go to Aspen dental, you will regret it. I also paid more out of pocket for this extraction with insurance covering half than I did for my last extraction when I had no insurance.

They will overbilling, do unnecessary more expensive procedures, they will price proper care so beyond reasonable that you will end up losing teeth. $13000 they wanted after my insurance as my out of pocket merely for 2 crowns, one root canal and a cavity. They overbill and the work is horrible. A month later I have lost a tooth I shouldn’t have because of Aspen was charged for an emergency gum fix but ended up with a sunken gum with a huge hole and they won’t see me even though I am in pain, my mouth is swollen and they did the procedure wrong. They billed it so insurance won’t pay it. I paid in full but they won’t respond or return calls.

They lied and said I could come in and get a refund but then cancelled the meeting and don’t return my calls. They don’t care about your life, welfare and certainly not about your teeth. It’s all about money. They don’t tell you about options to help with the $13000 they demand for merely 4 teeth. They call you names after and insult you rather than address the problems you end up with due to their improper, unnecessary and inaccurate work. Avoid!!!

First their advertising is false to put easy everything they say just put in opposite view and run. I was lucky I caught them before they got to do any procedures. Only had two visits first was great with dr. ** staff friendly very understanding. But nightmare is when called three days after my first visit while waiting for to consult main dentist due to my bad health my tooth had broke off more night before wanted to let her know so they could see how fast this was happening. I’d already been in pain for months. I was born with crohns and UC which caused others health issues. Have been looking with my family my whole life for someone to help with mouth issues and be able to afford being disabled and single mom. My main doctor had been even looking for help.

My first visit I received a treatment plan with guaranty price after discounts was bout 12,000 so still stumped and upset trying to figure out where do I get that I countions to look for someone to help via dentist or someone maybe help with cost a little. First visit 8/23/19 at end of august even sicker I called Aspen back asked if dr ** could see me tell me where I was at. They said they main dentist dr. ** had tried to call me on 8/27/19 to have me come back in to check on me. I never got any calls. My phones on 24/7 by me at all times due to health. Was not in records. They didn’t try to leave any messages or email. But wanted me in ASAP hearing how Ill I was.

So first week of September 2019 my mom and I went to see dr. **. He’s was able to get me in fastest. They didn’t do anymore x-rays. My visit took almost three hour for him just to look around my mouth in while saying other patients at same time. He didn’t seem to be listening to me. Diagnosed me with a genetic jaw bone issue and said had infection in the bone on top all issues going on with my teeth. I had called the governor of Missouri who got in contact with give agency to help me but they said in order for them to help me I needed a dentist last seen and primary care. Call them and assure this was connected to either freak traumatic accident or Major health issues that would cause this shouldn’t been a problem. We told dr. ** this along with two different office administrators who all said not only to me but my mother wouldn’t be a problem.

Dr. ** told me he wasn’t aware crohns could cause mouth issues and I told him "Please call my doctor". With my health they need to be in contact. Anyhow he agreed they gave me another treatment plan and estimate after discounts of over 17,000. So jumped 5,000 that short of time? Next I know is my doctors saying he spoke to doctor ** and was very confused which raised my flags. I asked he said first thing he was told was not aware about crohns in mouth and what it can do. Second is he didn’t think my case that debate after telling me I was infected bad but he didn’t mention to my doctor the infection he told us about was in the bone but no instead told him not infected due to not seeing any absences or puss pockets. My doctor I said "Say no more let me find out why this doesn’t match".

I called aspen asked to please speak to dr ** plus I needed to know if needed to go to er and needed signs of being septic. First office staff said he couldn’t come to phone have to get back with me and second they don’t tell anyone the signs of being septic not their job?! Even as sick as I was I waited for a call me knowing they close early that day. I finally called back to find office closed. So called on call dentist which was dr ** the first one I saw. She was very concerned and upset. First she told me what to watch for with infection but knowing my health and how long been this way if couldn’t stand go directly to er. Told her also confusion between dr. ** and my promarary and I left a message when I first called for him to get back with me because I didn’t know what was what or maybe he got patients confused and he wouldn’t talk to me or call me back.

She said this was a Friday night that Monday first thing when she gets into work she talk to dr ** and the first office administrator bout what’s going on and what’s going on and to see when she could get me in ASAP if I didn’t hear from her Monday sometime to call. I waited til Tuesday nothing so called office again. It was like I called he’ll right off. First staff rude and abusive second was told dr ** would not return my call period or speak to me. I asked to speak with dr. **. They informed me that Monday she quit without letting anyone know. Asked to speak to original office administrator that also was so trying to help me. They snapped at me said she wasn’t in that office today. So I asked why dr. ** wouldn’t speak or see me. They followed very rudely and said he was now only dentist in that office but runs it and not only would he not see me but not allowed in his office ever again and not to call back.

In complete shock and tears by this time and angry they offered to refer me to lee summit mo. Office even though rude thanked them. Before got a chance to call they called me person rambled his name very gruff and you couldn’t make out told me he was from lee summit aspen dental and I was sent to him by independence mo. Location by dr. **. They man had issues with me from start. First thing he asked was what type of treatment do I need? I just simply asked "if the other office sent you my info and dr. ** spoke to you" and I’m sick I have to start from beginning? He said yes all the way around. That my two t guarantee priced treatment plans as of that day are void. He not only main dentist for lee summit but over sees kansas city area offices and was administrator. He kept asking when I wanted to come in. I was beyond upset at this point.

He also informed me he had my records just weeks old two couple of months. And dr ** personal notes. I laughed at this point was curious if he told my health doctor a different story what he tell this guy. He very angrily said "Ok you will come this day this time all new xrays full and exam" and he knew before seeing me I was on Medicare and Medicare and disabled said to me not to expect any discounts what so ever no coupons and better bring cash. How do you take that insult on your health just you or making his own humor off knowing I don’t have money and I’m disabled. Was this he kind way of saying not welcome here? Yes it actually was. He was so angry he let it slip that dr ** and they off administrator were both fired the same day Monday when they were trying to help me. They were fired for being good kind compassionate people. I’m so sorry to both for this.

He also stated not just fired but not allied back ever to any office and finished by saying "including you do you understand". Yes banned nationwide from aspen dental and left looking for help sick as all get out. Not once offered anything for pain from they broken teeth or completely exposed nerve. No my doctor helped me there. Thought over but my sister being very concerned for me referred me to her dentist. They were kind enough to see me again. My mom was with me have learned over years always bring someone with you to all appointments.

We approached this doctor did not tell him about aspen or the countless ones I’ve seen since a child. He asked my concerns. We told him "You look at me like it is for you with out any input please tell us what’s going on?" He did new xrays wants to try to save teeth I have need one pulled the genetic jaw disease and infection in bone which aspen said had to be surgically removed from bone and jaw didn’t exist. We told him what I was born with. He instantly said oh yes and the meds she had to take for decades straight at that time even know would do this and the vomiting that just seems to go with crohns so then ask what additional health issues did I have already knowing crohns and UC affects everything in the body but causes other Auto immune diseases. He said basically the amount of pain I’ve been in for so long and my teeth were most likely causing me to be so sick.

We also found out that only going to be 1 to 2,000 not a car. We were also told still didn’t give aspens name that if they would have started any treatment plan which we did not show him just on hearing what they diagnosed me with falsely would have left me disfigured and having no immunity dead. Just before the gentleman from lee summit office hung up on me he said he would see I got my complete medical records from them. I didn’t get anything til after seeing this new dentist and when I did more shock he sent me a copy of supposed original treatment plan and price for the one visit to dr. ** first floor that’s what they considered records but I kept original nothing matches nothing not even date of visit this is not what he gave my mother and nor told us.

And yes during my simple should been painless exam from him he did intentionally hurt me with one of those picks things and I was told I’m the issue I caused this I called too much. I’m sorry only two visits max six calls over medical emergency and trying to speak to the doctor wow they care!!! Oh yes also stated from lee summit office and such a nice guy let me tell you but when he had me in tears he let me know even if I saw him he wouldn’t call the SSD the governor had ready to help as soon as they talked to someone I told him dr. ** and administrator for that day and they one they fired said be no problem in my case would be issue he told me against there’s policies and non of offices aloud or will do it and he flat out said he really didn’t believe me because he had the doctors notes that didn’t even match me.

I said so nicely but rudely you calling me a liar. He for once ** his mouth which everyone knows means yes so let him no ok you ready to say the same to my son, boyfriend, mother, doctor and his musing staff you ready to do that? That’s when he hung up. Their reviews are screened if you leave a bad review or damaging or they don’t like it it disappears anything they are connected directly two or Monitor is lies. There are site that have real reviews even from former employees dear god in heaven. I called corporate to speak with ceo of nation wide company also is head dentist overseer of nation wide company and owner. I got basically his Receptionist. I will be honest was very nice seemed concerned to hear this happened I informed he might want to look into who’s running his company and look for actually reviews.

That I was lucky I’ve seen what’s been going on all over in there offices and not only horrific but terrifying. We continued to talk about my experience. She also informed me no it’s her job that no one get to speak with corporate ceo unless it’s a legal person this was as high up as you get. She asked what they could do to help correct this I said first a true apology letter from dr ** and staff. Also informed her that as of last Monday he was only dentist for that and in that office at that location handling everyone that very Evident Dr ** might have schooling but was not to of class that he needed to be stopped ASAP giving false diagnosis unnecessary procedures and no knowledge of health issues affecting mouth needs to go back to school plain simple the offer should be shut down also and everybody needs to be educated on compassion and being kind towards others.

She said they were going to put into a investigation but I will not no when or outcome and not aloud to. So still being kind through all this and as understanding as possible due to her restrictions on her job she has to hate Nicky said ty for letting us know but we’re not going to do anything. She also said she be she I got my complete records including notes etc. I received my xrays today via email waiting on rest to show I need a treatment I need a cost nothing matches no answers. And yes these people didn’t know that part of my analysis is PTSD. I am now very frightened. I thought I was before the dentist and I’m petrified to that extreme but only this but my child and yes I am a single mother and all he’s got had to hear what they have to say.

And I basically said I was so sick that if I didn’t find help quick I was gonna die and yes it affected him emotionally and tell emotional effects from this as l on I need a treatment I need a cost nothing matches no answers. Also, she had an LED light on her forehead and sometimes shined it in my eyes and continued in the same position even though I turned my head to avoid the light. In another incident, I was supposed to receive a refund and didn’t receive the refund for months (numerous phone calls). My gums needed to be be treated but they have felt worse for months since they were treated. Setting the appointment was easy enough- on-line, user friendly. That's where it ended. I go in and had to fill out a ton of paperwork on top of what I did on-line. Fine. I get that. Then took endless (and very painful) x-rays (it's not supposed to hut is it?) and was ushered to a room, and proceeded to wait about 15 minutes for the salesman- I mean doctor to come in and go over the x-rays. I got the standard spiel, "Teeth look good, get a softer brush, you have one cavity that we need to get filled." Then the doctor (who kept wiping his runny nose with his hand) told me that I needed to get a "deep cleaning" and the benefits of the deep cleaning, get an up-to-this-point non problematic wisdom tooth out that may cause troubles in the future and get that cavity filled. I'm good with all of that, until the finance lady took me to her office.

Even with my insurance that pays 100% until we start talking about crowns and dentures- including extractions and periodontal services- I'm still paying $600. That's not as much as some of the other people have reported, but when you have 100% coverage, no deductible, that amount is pretty upsetting. I was offered their financing plan. NO thanks! Not when my insurance covers 100%! I asked for explanation and was told that the extraction was considered a surgical extraction, and that my insurance only covers 60% of the deep cleaning. I checked with my insurance agent and documentation and I call B.S. I have spoken with their finance gal again and she suggested that she call back the insurance company and re-evaluate. Yes, I suggest you do that. In the meantime, I will collect my x-rays (I asked if they belong to me) and will go somewhere else while she is checking. All I went in for was a standard cleaning and a tooth filling. :(

I went in needing to have both bottom molars attended to. Work that I knew would probably be expensive, but was prepared to pay. I was not however prepared to be told that they would need to do hygiene work before I was ever able to get the actual teeth worked on. But even so, I agreed that I would undergo planing and scaling before the crowns etc were attended to. The office assistant was not available during my visit, and I agreed that she could contact me later. I was happy enough to do that, and was looking forward to working with this office.

That was until I got the email with an estimate of the cost of what I had thought would be a relatively straightforward planing and scaling procedure.... I was absolutely shocked to see that even after insurance I would be paying over $1200, and that was expected to be done before she ever even worked on my teeth. She had set up some crazy plan that included about 12 uses of a very expensive antibiotic, causing the procedure to be extremely expensive. Keep in mind this was all for what they diagnosed as early to moderate periodontal disease.

When the finance lady called me, I told her that I had had no idea they would be charging that much, and I was not willing or able to pay that amount. So I asked her how much it would be just for planing and scaling and skipping that insanely expensive antibiotic treatment. She quoted me a price that had to have been a minimum of $800, before insurance. I informed her that considering the going rate for that procedure is usually between $200 and $400, that I believed their prices to be far too high. I am disappointed that they seem so willing to scrape every penny they are able out of their patients and the insurance company on procedures that are questionably needed before they will ever even start actual work on the teeth. I had looked forward to working with the wonderful ladies I had dealt with so far, but I am not willing to just be reamed on costs.

It took 4 phone calls to them and multiple to my insurance company to get my claim paid - 3 months later because my insurance company told me that when they would respond with the additional information that was needed, they were being very generic and not actually providing the information that was needed. I finally had to have my insurance company call and talk to someone to get it resolved. Then I still got a bill telling me I owed them even after I confirmed that payment had been received by them.

When I called they informed me it was "glitch" in the system and my account was paid. She asked if I had anything else I needed assistance with and I asked her if they were going to be sending me the credit they owed me as what I paid was more than I needed to. It wasn't until I mentioned that, that she said she would put in a request to credit my credit card back.

Everything is about making your bill as high as it can be. We were charged for services before they were provided. Overcharged for services that were not received, not knowing I had a copy of my dental insurances price sheet. Dental codes charged that were not even on my insurance providers price sheet. Then you call to get questions answered they say they will get answers and call you back, they never do call you back! Aspen Dental is the worst Dental office I've ever dealt with, do yourself a favor and find a better more honest dental provider. Aspen Dental Brighton Mi. is not worth your time or money!

I was not told anything about my appointment going in. They did X-Rays after X-rays. It took an hour and a half. Then doctor comes in and says he can fix my problems. I ask how much. He says I have to talk to front desk. I go to front desk and she starts throwing out numbers - first 7000 then 10000. Then says she can get me a loan. She has me sign her tablet but doesn't let me read what I am signing. Then says she can get me loan for some of it but doesn't show me any idea on how much or rate. I told her I wanted to see a list of what the charges were. She got upset and handed me a paper with only some of the charges and got upset when I started asking questions about the charges. These people say they are affordable but I don't consider 7000 or 10000 affordable. They are fast talking and want that money. Stay away.

NOT RESOLVED. I still DO NOT have my crowns That were paid entirely upfront because you cannot owe this company!!! They make you pay for all the services before they start. As a matter of fact, I do not have my upper front eight (8) teeth right now at all. I never got my crowns! I had nothing but issues with this miserable company. What I do have is almost $8000.00 on my credit report WRONGFULLY, from this Horrible non-trustworthy company. I honestly blame upper management and billing practices. They are crooks, RUDE and very unprofessional. I wonder if the insurance companies know that that are stealing from them? I had my insurance company pay a portion. I had to pay the balance.

EVERYTHING was paid upfront no other choice. Well, the work was never completed and what was done... Was not correct. I should have never even had my teeth prepped for crowns. I had a missing tooth that was never addressed, so I actually needed 9 crowns (teeth), and the gap should have been corrected first. The first dentist Had no clue what she was doing!!!! I am so hurt and angry, and now I walk around looking like a drug addict because I do not have $26,000.00 to correct all their mistakes. Now I have gum and bone issues along with pain and I am embarrassed. I am scared to go to another dentist. I have seen a couple. One will not touch my mouth. Said I need a lawyer and what they have done is criminal.

I am not the first nor the last they have scammed. So to sum this up, Aspen now has not only destroyed my life Now they are after my credit AGAIN. Yes. They did remove it once. Said they were sorry about the mistake and as soon as the person who removed it did not work there any longer BOOM it was placed right back on there. It is so difficult getting in touch with the correct person. They will not give you the district phone number and person. I have made so many phones to the offices locally and corporate, But they never get back to me. This service happened in the Merritt Island office in Brevard County, Florida!!! Stay away from ASPEN DENTAL!!! Product or Service Mentioned: Aspen Dental Crown Service.

I made an appointment at 12:20 pm for tooth pain (that needed to be pulled). They made me an appointment for 1:45 pm that same day. Very impressed so far. Arrive at the Shreveport, LA location and the doors were lock while they took lunch. They finally opened the doors and proceeded in the waiting room where I filled out paperwork. I sat there for about 30 minutes before they called me back. Once in the back area, they proceeded to take x-rays (keep in mind I came in for one tooth), they took a full x-ray then took twelve more individual x-rays (for one tooth that I was complaining about). They then took me back to the exam room, She took me blood pressure while I watch HGTV.

About 20 minutes later the dentist arrived. He looked at my x-rays then my teeth, he sat down and said all of my teeth have issues. So they talked to the ADMIN. Woman. They took me to a waiting room where I watched some more HGTV. She came and got me, I followed her to the consultation room. We sat down and she proceeded to tell me they would schedule me for full mouth extractions and dentures, remember I came in for one tooth that was giving me a problem.

These are a bunch of "QUACKS." Instead of fix the issue I originally came in for, They just wanted to pull everything and start over with fresh gums. I told her that I came in for a single tooth issue not a full mouth extraction. I told her I was not going to have anything done at "ASPEN DENTAL" and GOT UP AND WALKED OUT. I am thinking that they think people can't deal with pain. I have pulled many of my own teeth. I have have double bypass surgery, I can deal with a lot of pain. So I headed home and I am going to pull that tooth tonight and sleep in tomorrow. My recommendation is to find a quality local dentist not a national franchise quack dentist.

As a senior citizen when my tooth busted I called around for an extraction price. Aspen Dental advertised $262.00 and as I was already a patient, made the appointment. I was initially given a price, including x-rays & exam, totaling a little over $400.00. But when I sat w/ the office manager, the bill was $846.00. I was told the increase was a $401.00 spacer. I have dental insurance but my year anniversary was 2 months away; coverage then for the procedure would be 70% instead of 0% which I also discussed with the doctor. At that time, I told the manager and doctor I was not interested in a $401.00 apparatus as I would be getting the implant asap. She told me she understood and they had a ‘flipper' for a little over a hundred to which I agreed. NOTE: After the 1st day, I’ve never used. It makes me lisp when speaking. I paid $478.80 which on my account lists the spacer as $102.93.

I was in a car wreck and left some of the mail unopened as I knew they were filing w/ my insurance and assumed, as I had paid everything, I would receive the check. Imagine my surprise when Aspen billed me an additional $94.32 and turned me over to a collection agency. When I went in to discuss, Brandon, at the Memorial office, said they billed the $401.00 for the apparatus and originally they were referring to the insurance portion of the spacer being $100.00 and I just misunderstood. But this makes no sense as at the time I paid, they knew I had refused it because of the imminent implant. He stated Aspen projected what they thought the insurance would pay and came up w/ the $102.93; it wasn’t a different apparatus. I handled CMI Corporation’s insurance for years. It’s not my first rodeo and I know what I was told. I signed off on the $102.93 spacer; not their projection of what my insurance might pay.

Now it’s basically too bad and even though my insurance paid them an additional $272.88, it wasn’t enough. My experience was anything but ‘affordable’ and as a senior citizen on a fixed income, they should be ashamed of not only their business paradigm, but their commercials; they are very deceptive. A simple tooth extraction should not be almost $900.00, but they found a way around the $262.00 lure in codes and deceptive insurance jargon. I will never darken their door again. I can’t afford them.

Today I see where some friends of mine warned me about Aspen Dental; I went into them for tooth Pain last week, they extracted a tooth and gave me an antibiotic to get rid of the infection. The first thing they wanted to do last week was to sign me up for a care plan. $3,500; I said later, then they extracted a tooth and the pain subsided some.

Today the pain ramped up to another level and they got me in and again they wanted to charge me $550 to do a procedure, I wasn't able to pay that upfront today. They wanted payment before they even did the procedure; It has been my experience that most dentists ask for payment after treatment and are generally willing to work with people.

But Aspen seems to be more about charging and getting paid than helping. A problem with a lot of medical groups today, and a sign of what is most important to them. In the case of Aspen Dental, it seems making money is far more important than their patients. My only suggestion is to avoid the big business medical groups particularly Aspen Dental!

I visited the Aspen Dental in Johnston, RI. I had moved to the state and put off going to the dentist for about a year and a half to two years. I needed a check up and cleaning and wanted to address some recently onset TMJ pain and grinding my back teeth at night as well as check on the status of some cosmetic bonding I had domes several years back. First of all, the tech administering the x-rays looked at me like I was crazy when I reported the TMJ pain and symptoms. After x-rays and an exam, the doctor told me I had 3 cavities needing filling and that after looking at the bonding on two upper front teeth, said they required crowns and possibly root canals.

I asked again about the TMJ pain and she just brushed me off. This was very concerning to me as I’ve not had many issues with my teeth in the past and certainly had no in my front teeth to need a root canal. When I asked about this, the dentist was insistent that where the bonding ended was so close to my nerve that “if the nerve was exposed” when doing the crown, a root canal would be needed. Again, this didn’t sit right with me because the bonding was cosmetic, there was nothing wrong with these teeth before and no damage before the bonding. She never explained why the bonding could not be replaced or a veneer put in.

I was then rushed to the office manager's office for a quote, at which point they quoted me $3500 after insurance. At this point I began to panic and asked again why a root canal was needed, why any nerves would be exposed, why crowns were more appropriate than a veneer, etc. The dentist came back and repeated what she had said before. I was so stressed and uncomfortable that I just wanted to leave ASAP, and against my better judgment, allowed the manager to schedule an appointment.

After leaving I called my old family dentist (approx. two hours away) for a consult and second opinion. He got me in a few days later and validated my concerns about TMJ pain, fit me for a night guard, completed nerve testing on my front teeth and said that the nerves were fine, a root canal was most likely extremely unnecessary and aggressive. He also said that crowns were inappropriate and that the bonding was in decent shape for how old it was and could likely be repaired or, at most, replaced with a veneer.

And to top it all off, he still needed to wait to decide on the final treatment plan for the cosmetic work because Aspen Dental would not send my x-rays in time, and the dentist didn’t want me exposed again in such a short period (not to mention the cost). They told the dental office it would be a few hours to send the x-rays because it had to “go through the corporate office.” When I called to cancel the appointment that would have most definitely resulted in pain, money, and a bad cosmetic outcome, I inquired about the x-rays and the office told me it would take 7 to 10 days! Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. What they are doing borders on malpractice. I am lucky warning bells went off in my head, but hate to think of all the people who might not listen to them and move forward with any procedures at Aspen Dental.

In the middle of the extraction (which was horribly done), the dentist leaves to attend another patient, rather than finishing my procedure first! While the dentist was out of the room, the assistant spills something on the floor, wipes it up with paper towels and continued putting his hands in my mouth without ever changing gloves after wiping up the floor! A health violation for sure—I was appalled!

The temporary dentures were a joke and now that they have my money, the price has changed! According to them, the prior office manager, who is no longer employed there, had given me incorrect pricing, so now that’s my problem because they take no responsibility for their staff’s incompetence. No one seems to know what they are doing, but by the time you figure it all out, they’ve got your money and want a lot more of it. Average wait time in the waiting room for appointments is at least an hour for every visit so plan accordingly. Absolutely no concern about the patient’s comfort, proper hygiene during procedures, patient’s schedule, etc. What an absolute nightmare!

They were more than my insurance would pay so I took out a loan to pay the rest. I had always had smallish teeth and ask for that to be the end result. That is not what I received. My bottom dentures have never fit right. I kept letting them know they didn't fit right....from the very first. Several trips back in to have them adjusted. Each time I was told that bottom dentures don't ever really fit right. I was also told most people aren't able to wear their bottoms and I was probably going to be one of those. The dental hygienists work on commission. They have hidden fees that they do not explain to the patient. The fees includes an electric toothbrush and fluoride treatment (which I did not request nor want). They claim they are participants with my dental insurance, but they are not. Their prices are too high. They bill my insurance. There are standard prices which my insurance covers per procedure. Aspen Dental prices always exceeds that amount. I had an exam in August. When I scheduled the exam, the receptionist stated if they had time they would do a cleaning afterwards. After the exam, I was informed that I wouldn’t be able to schedule a cleaning until October. I am very disappointed with Aspen Dental. I feel it is a franchise and they are out for profit only.

Then they want to send me to a surgeon for permanent denture for my lower gum. This would cost me additional money and they had me sign loan paperwork for $6900 for pulling my teeth and my upper and lower dentures. Right now I only have temporary dentures. I would not recommend Aspen Dental to no one.

I normally don't write reviews but I have to with this business to try & warn as many ppl as I can. This place only cares about what money they can scam from ppl who are vulnerable and usually in a lot of pain with their teeth! I had been yelled at, bullied by the Office Mngr! I was told by the 18-19 yr old assistant's that I was just going to have to deal with it when I kept going back because I was in serious pain from the temporary. During 1 of those visits I asked about my Impression they had made of my teeth and the young girl told me they had got broken. So that's why those things didn't fit my mouth and looked absolutely nothing like my teeth! I had suffered for 7 months with the temporary. When it came time to place the permanent upper the denture was so big that I had to take it out to even talk to that assistant. The lower partial was just as bad except it was too small and would not even start to fit over my teeth!

When that girl came at my mouth saying, "Here let me get it down on them", I had to lean back & literally push her hands away from my mouth telling her, "NO, you ain't going to break my teeth"! After that is the only time the Dr came in and still I got sent home on my 2 hour drive home, 1 way. Those things caused me so much pain where they were rubbing & hitting my gums & they did damage to my gums on top of all of that. I literally only wore the partials for about 20 mins total. I'm bouncing to the money side of things now. About 3wks before time to place the permanent upper denture the young man who had worked on my case from the beginning told me that I had to pay for my partial. I was shocked & told him that I did pay everything! He said they had taken off the amnt for the partial since they had never made me a temporary partial. I told him how mad I was because not 1 person ever told me that they did that!

But I found out that I did pay $519.00 towards the partial, how & why they came up with that amt I don't have a clue & he couldn't answer that either. So he sits me down & prints out this new contract for me to sign telling me I am due to have my few bottom teeth cleaned & have the roots injected with antibiotics. On this contract he's going over with me he has a Grand Total of over $2500.00 on top of the $10,000.00 that I paid. I was in such shock & so furious that I couldn't speak! So the day after that when I had to go in for another adjustment because of the pain I was in, I asked to speak to the other young man there in the office and showed him this contract that other guy had given me and told him that I was being ripped off by them! That guy had not even shown or subtracted the $519.00 credit I had paid them for the partial and how in the heck do they come up with all this extra money over the $10,000.00 that I've paid for all this crap!?

He acted a little surprised and said he would take this to the office Mngr the next day. Well I was surprised that they did fire that guy and I am happy about that just so he can't do that to another patient. He was scamming me for that $519.00 I paid to put in his pocket! They don't get you with the actual cost of the dentures themselves, they get you with all the extra charges they tack on that you don't need and some patients are in so much pain and nobody can think straight while in pain. Yes I am thankful that they at least have the 90day money back guarantee on the dentures. Because after those kids done their so-called adjustment's on my lower partial that the metal was actually sticking out of it I told them I wanted my money back. And when they never would fix the upper so I could eat & talk and stop being in pain because of it I told them I wanted my money back for that one too!

I felt sorry for the woman in the room next to me because she had the same exact problems with hers that I did. And the office she had originally went to had closed down. She told 1 of the same girls I dealt with the same thing I kept telling them when I would make that 2hr drive 1 way at least once & 2 times every week for literally a year...that they are too big and causing her severe mouth pain and when she goes out she has to wear so much glue to keep them from falling out of her mouth! That girl said she will go "adjust" them and the woman told her that she needs them filled in to make them fit! When they do their so-called adjustments they are actually making the denture bigger which causes more pain & embarrassment! I said these exact same things every time I went in that place! That poor woman's 90Days must of lapsed because of her office closing up shop.

I was not going to make that same mistake and was thankful I was there to get my money back. This is just how dirty those ppl are, they made me wait "5 Hours" before calling me back telling me I'd have to see the Dr, which was a lie, and made me wait for another 1 1/2 hours in the back room! The Dr never showed up in my room! The office Mngr came to my room asking my husband and I to follow her to her office. I told her that I can't and won't continue to wear those things because of the pain they cause me. It literally took less than 10 minutes and 2 papers I had to sign and I was done! They are a dirty and crooked business! I did have a bad feeling about this business after the reviews I read before I had that oral surgery but I'm not going to nor do I have to worry about that place anymore! All I can do is try my best to warn others about Aspen Dental and to not believe any of their scare tactics to scam you out of your money!

They absolutely do not know how to make dentures that fit and they do cause pain and damage your gums! After all that time, and $7000.00 after I got my money back from the dentures, the gas for the 4hr round trips once, sometimes 2 times every wk and going from a healthy weight of a size 12 down to size FOUR because of the pain I couldn't Eat!! I did tell them I was starving because I could not rat! And as I said I was a healthy size 12 for my height and did not want to loose weight! That I am so thankful I did find a dental office that has made my denture and these do fit and they are NOT causing me any pain! I was literally brought to tears when I left this new dentist office after they placed my new denture and I stopped to get my granddaughter a cheeseburger and I told her that, mamaw's going to get one to try and eat it and lo and behold I took a bite and the denture did not fall out and there was zero pain!

There is one serious problem I do have though. Where I had went so long not being able to eat that now my body is acting as if it's rejecting the food when I eat! Just after eating very small amount of food my stomach will hurt so much and I get so sick and so nauseous and break out into sweats and to the point of throwing up! My family asked me if I was going to write reviews to try to warn others about Aspen Dental. I answered, "Yes. Definitely!" I have worked in the medical field for many years and I have never seen patients treated so badly degraded, bullied, talked about, laughed at, ignored, stealing their money, talked down to as if they're stupid and downright abused!! I am not the only one who's been done this way by Aspen Dental. I have talked to others who also had been treated this way by them. Most of them did not go back and fall for their fake professionalism and their lies!

But as I said when someone is in a lot of pain they are not thinking too clearly. I won't feel as if I suffered for nothing if I can stop one person from making the same mistake I made. I tried to hit most of the horrible things that they had done to me and the horrible ways they they treated and said to me but I couldn't write everything because there's not enough space for me to write everything. But to all of this I swear that every single word is true and not exaggerated at all. I truly wish that I could write how this place done me from the first day I was in their office for treatment to the last day I was in their office which was last Tuesday August 6th, 2019.

Also on bill shows Irrigation which also was not done. Called next day to go over "Treatment Plan" said I did not understand and did not that the fluoride treatment was not done. Response was "You didn't pay for it". Doesn't matter. It was charged to insurance and they shouldn't have top pay if not done! Ok, they would adjust.

Called insurance a few days later to ask what was billed and the fluoride treatment was billed. Said, "It never happened." Said I could or they would reach out to office. Said, "I would do that." Also on my "bill" I was billed for irrigation that again was not done. "Ok we will adjust." I paid a total of $200.00. Still don't think it is correct and was not filled w/ insurance correctly.

I will be calling, again, for a face to face explanation of the charges, what insurance told me and an acceptable explanation. Part of the confusion was that a scaling, etc. was needed and that was also on the bill. But since it was all run on 2 pages and not broken down what was done and what I paid for. To conclude, they told me there was nothing they could do about it because they don’t warranty any of their work. This place is the worst. Don’t go there. Do yourself a favor. Giving them one star because I have to give at least that. DO NOT get dental care here. We took our little girls for treatment. They did not tell me that they do not do dental work on kids, but they let me make the appointment, bring her in and cleaned her teeth. Then they told me they cannot do dental work (she was needing braces). So, I was upset that they did this, but figured no big deal because our insurance covered the cleaning anyways. Exactly a year and 5 months later, I received a bill for the teeth cleaning. So, I called their office and was told that it was not their job to file insurance.

If this is the case, why was it not disclosed to me at that time? Their office staff is a joke and if you will look at the BBB complaints, you will see that they are a shady business that needs to be shut down. I told her that if she turns this over to collections, that I would file a complaint with the BBB and anywhere else that I could. So, I got the collections bill today and starting to fight this to the very end. This review is where I am starting, but have much more to do now. BTW THEY ARE WANTING $322.00 FOR A SIMPLE CHILD'S TOOTH CLEANING!!! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

Nasty receptionist said, "You never turned in your paperwork."! I was sitting directly in front of desk with papers sitting on seat next to me. Had they wanted it prior to me going back they should have told me to hand it back in or ask me for it. No she bluntly said it was my fault.

At 11:55 now 65 mins since I arrived and 45 mins after scheduled appointment I asked again. She disappeared, came back and rudely said I had to reschedule. Never an apology, never an explanation. I can understand when there are wait times but to be treated so unkindly blaming a patient is never a way to run a practice. If this is the way they treat new patients at the front desk I couldn't imagine what it would be like once I got in the chair. They wasted too much of my time, will NEVER be returning as it left a bad taste in my mouth! :-(

I would never recommend Aspen Dental to anyone. My experience was great up until my follow up appointment after my first consultation. I had asked them about replacing my metal crown with a porcelain one. When I had first met with my dentist, I stated that I wanted a porcelain crown. When I went for a dental exam a few weeks later, they told me I needed three more crowns. A couple appointments later, they had removed my old crown only to tell me I needed a root canal. They then recommended that I visit their orthodontist in Niskayuna. Where I then found out I didn’t need a root canal. I was then sent back to the first office, where they finally put a new crown on. However; it was the wrong crown. It was metal plated porcelain.

A couple weeks later I came back to their office, in extreme pain. They then prescribed me antibiotics instead of adjusting the crown. A month later I ended up in urgent care for the same issue. Only later on to change dentists, and find out that the nerve was dying and that’s why I was in such extreme pain. Soon after that I found out the tooth had become necrotic, so I ended up in another orthodontist's office where I had the root canal performed. I thank god that my new dentist Alina **, did such an amazing job fixing the problems Aspen Dental created.

A couple months later I kept calling Aspen Dental to get a refund for the cap they placed that had to be removed. They refused to give me any refund and so I refused to pay until we came to an agreement because they messed up my tooth. I was only disappointment and horrified by my experience. They ruined my credit and now I’m struggling to fix it and they did nothing but make things incredibly difficult as a patient. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of care they provide and I would never wish this on anyone else. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the hassle of more problems.

I have been attending Aspen Dental for a long time and had transferred locations to the Mayfield Heights location because it is closer to my residence. Upon my transfer, I had the misfortune of having several unprofessional dealings with the office manager, Sean/Shawn. I found the manner in which he spoke to me on the phone was unprofessional and something I would not expect from a professional establishment. I was so offended in the manner in which he spoke to me, I complained yet it fell on deaf ears. I have had other dealings with Sean/Shawn that was equally unsettling. First, I was charged a relatively large sum of money for routine dental work and when I informed Sean/Shawn that I had insurance, he made the clerk at the front charge me anyway.

I had to appeal to customer service who eventually refunded me my money. The most recent incident had to do with the fact that I scheduled an appointment for a teeth cleaning and then I received a message on my voice mail later that day cancelling my appointment, even though I made it clear that I was paying out of my own pocket for said services. When I called the next day, the clerk who answered the phone spoke in an unprofessional manner similar to Sean/Shawn and when I tried to address this matter with her, she hung up on me. I then called customer service to complain again, and the representative whom I spoke to said she would forward the matter to Dante, the regional manager, whom I told her was worthless.

By worthless, I am referring to several dealings with him that was less than professional. Although the manner in which he speaks is professional, he does not follow through as he promises. The only person whom I have had some positive experience was James. However, I find that he is hard to get in touch with because he travels from office to office. Needless to say, I find this business to be run in a substandard manner and despite frequent complaints no significant changes have been made to the way they run their business. I am hoping that other people who are considering doing business with Aspen read my review and weigh the options of whether they want to business with this establishment or take their business elsewhere.

If they choose the former, then all I have to say is that you have been warned. In sum, I am expecting that if this review gets posted, the response from Aspen Management will be to placate with verbiage such as, "I am sorry you had such a horrible experience. We promise to do better" or something similar. Unfortunately, this placating is trite particularly when they do not have any intention of changing their business practices but instead are trying to present a facade that they do care about their customers, when in fact they do not.

I moved to a new state and needed a dentist for a general dental checkup and cleaning. Aspen Dental was listed in my insurance network and had a convenient location so I called for an appointment. I have always taken good care of my teeth and have had very few problems. My previous dentist told me I have a very healthy mouth. I was shocked when the Aspen hygienist told me I periodontal disease, including infection in my gums and bone loss. She said I needed as deep cleaning with follow up cleanings and every 3 months. The dentist then came in and said I had a fractured molar that needed a crown. I was upset and wondered how my healthy mouth could have gotten in such bad shape since my last checkup. I was so stressed I couldn't sleep that night, so I began researching periodontal disease on the internet. I had none of the usual symptoms, like red, painful or bleeding gums, bad breath, etc.

This made me suspicious so I began researching Aspen Dental and found many negative reviews about them. I decided to cancel my deep cleaning appointment and made an appointment with another dentist in my insurance network to get a second opinion, and I am so glad I did. It turns out my gums and teeth are perfectly healthy, no periodontal disease and no fractured molar. I am appalled that Aspen Dental lied to me and were going to do unnecessary procedures just to make money. I saved myself a lot of pain and money by getting that second opinion. Please stay away from Aspen Dental. They are unethical scam artists and thieves!

So I agreed to get one (Why not? It's free). A few weeks later I came to the office to do a custom fit mold and a few weeks later I pick it up. However, later I got a bill from them which I owe them $610. I called them and they said the claim was denied by my insurance company and what they said was just an estimate, not the exact amount I need to pay for.

I called my insurance company later and they said night guard was not covered. I feel like it's a big ripoff, and there's no evidences (no recordings) to prove what they said. I called them again and they're willing to cut half of the amount after talked to regional manager, so I need to pay $350 for a custom fit night guard. I searched online and there's a lot of story like this so it's a common scam. You won't take more than 1/3 of the price to get a custom fit night guard online from Amazon. Be aware and stay away from this dental. My dental office is at Woburn, MA and I will switch immediately.

When I got to the office, they seemed surprised that the call center would tell me that I would be able to get work done that day, but it was a "good thing I got there early" so they could help me. I was taken back about 20 minutes after I arrived, in pain, and given a ton of x-rays. The x-ray technician was nice enough. I was then brought back to wait for the dentist who introduced himself then immediately went to work calling out tooth numbers and what needed to happen to them. I was told I needed every molar extracted and would need partial dentures. I was then sent to meet with the office manager, who pushed me to apply for care credit and laid out a ridiculously expensive care plan that included a $200 tooth brush.

They would not do anything about the tooth that was causing pain that day. The dentist sent two prescriptions to the pharmacy, one for pain meds and one for an antibiotic that I am ALLERGIC to. My pharmacy reached out to them to get something else prescribed and they never responded. I found a reputable dentist who confirmed that I did not need nearly the amount of work done that they stated and helped me with the original issue I went to Aspen for. They tried to fixed but nothing change.

Everything hurts and my mouth does not close and my face looks terrible. I have been assigned more an appointment and it's all the same. I was told that I could go to the Aspen Dental office in Washington DC and they would fix everything. I did not find an Aspen Dental office in Washington DC. April 23 then we returned home to New Port Richey and I made an appointment to go to the office MCD Dentistry PA 9219 US 19 Port Richey, FL 34668 with the same complaints of pain and facial defect. THEY PROMISED FIX BUT COULD NOT FIXED. I WAS ASSIGNED NEW AND NEW APPOINTMENT. Almost 1 time per week.

They promised to fix the denture but could not fix either the appearance of the face and remove the pain. I was assigned new appointments and each time I left hiding my new permanent dentures in the box. And each time they promised fix my problem. Today 6/14/2019 at the appointment they was told that nothing can be changed. Defect face requires a new denture. BUT the time of 90 days has passed. And they will not replace! The pain cannot be removed because you need ALVEOLOPLASTY. Why have I been informed about ALVEOLOPLASTY before? When the doctor saw my bone in April, he did not see it? I was deceived?

The doctor knew that the defect of the face can only be corrected with new dentures and the pain IS POSSIBLE TO BE FIXED ONLY with surgery! Each of my visits I was assigned a new appointment, knowing that it is impossible to correct! Each time I've been given promised they deceived me. The doctor knew that the defect of the face can only be corrected with new dentures and the pain with surgery! Why no one said about it before 3-4 months? Or my bone changed suddenly? Play for time it's that they did! I insist on fixing my denture.

I insist to get an explanation for what reason the doctor did not inform me about surgery when seen problem. I ask you to check the qualifications of the doctors involved in my treatment. Do not believe what they say!!!! They are deceiving and play for time. They promised to correct mistakes. 6 months. Every time they are make a new appointments until the guarantee has been expired. When you get there you’re likely to wait well past your appointment time. Then you’ll be told your cleaning will be done at a separate appointment. Instead you will get a sales pitch, but it will sound like a necessary course of action for a dire situation. Be prepared for a pushy “office manager” to try to convince you to buy a $100+ toothbrush no one needs. The prices for “necessary” services will be quadruple what you’d pay at a reputable dentist office. Gingivitis can be reversed with a good cleaning followed by proper daily brushing and flossing! The actual oral surgery was ok but I had went in today for an extraction, scaling and a filling which the filling is not finished as the tooth still has a chip in it. These people didn’t even offer me a ** because apparently the dentist can feel your pain for you and I was told since the tooth was loose there shouldn’t be pain. So later the pain increased to which I called them and Katrina at the office said she would return our call but apparently they closed the office instead.

So we called and got the emergency number three separate times to which we finally got a call back from the answering service cause the dr couldn’t bother to do so. He claimed he had spoke to the dr and they suggested ** and **. Now they don’t read records because I have had the gastric and cannot take NSAIDs and ** hasn’t helped. So yeah that’s my day. To me it is evident that they don’t care about their patients, only the 2000 dollars we paid them. After researching them I have come to wonder if I even needed an extraction because they were quick to add on to the dental plan even including an electric toothbrush I didn’t even ask for.

We called the number on our card when we got home and they answered immediately and said they had no idea why she would say it was a discount plan. I did a review on their website with my experience and it is interesting that they took it down. Today I received a letter stating they have been trying to reach me, not true. We have found a reputable dentist and have NO intention of returning to Aspen Dental or recommending them to anyone.

Shortly after they said it would be seventy one dollars to get my bottom dentures adjusted. I had the right change. I went back and the Dr. said they were my temps. That I needed new Dentures at a cost of 3,500 dollars. I told them I would check finances. I asked about a refund because they did not adjust them, they said, "No refunds." I stormed out. I found them very unethical, manipulative, and dishonest. The front end was not trained properly. I will never go back. I will never recommend them. After going to another hygienist for cleaning, I was told I had several crowns on my teeth that were not the proper size for the tooth, causing a problem. This hygienist only does cleanings, so had nothing to gain. I was given a referral sheet, stating my problems and was told to find a real dentist and have these problems corrected. This has been a very expensive lesson. Never will I recommend any Aspen Dental Office to anyone. Aspen Dental does not give any guarantees on crowns, so I have to go find a real dentist.

My insurance said they would pay an estimated amt that I verified while at their office. I paid the balance before all service was complete. Long story short if they collect insurance money and the payments charged to me then they would profit an extra 600 plus dollars. I have refused to pay anymore and have submitted my own claim. I have tried to call them several times and no one answers the phone. Very unhappy with them and I won't recommend.

That was where the greatness ended and I met with the hygienist. She explained to me what I needed to do and told me that the rest the dentist would go over. I sat there for a long time and the dentist NEVER came in. So at 2:45 I walked out of their office.

I scheduled an appointment with Aspen as my DMO has a very limited number of choices in my area. It had been a couple years since my last exam so was expecting a little extra work. I had a full set of x-rays and photos done by a dental technician. I then was led to another room where the dental hygienist came in and did her work up poking and prodding the teeth and gums, calling out numbers like a bingo game as the technician entered them into the computer. Then was told that I had early stages of periodontal disease and would need a deep cleaning and scaling along with various gum treatments to be done in stages.

Finally the dentist arrives and reviews the x-rays and photos telling me i need the full works along with a tiny cavity and a chip in a tooth that should be addressed. Once again escorted from the exam room to the lion's den (finance office). Now comes the damage, treatment for all this comes to a grand total of $5200 but after insurance, cost to me about $3000 out of pocket. Well by the shocked look on my face, the finance person comes back with "Wait, I can apply this coupon to save you about $400." Once again I just stared at him and replied "I don't think so." Again he says "well I can do you a favor and give you a friends and family discount which brings it down to just under $2000." I told him not in my budget at this time and then came the offering of financing to an "affordable" monthly payment plan. At that point I got up and left.

I thought about it after an hour or so and called them back. I asked if I could just get a normal cleaning and polishing of my teeth that my insurance covered and they said unfortunately not and the only way they would proceed was with their prescribed treatment plan. I told them not going to happen and called them a scam. I was told if I wanted my x-rays that I would have to sign a release form. I am going back tomorrow to do just that so see if they release them. My advice, STEER CLEAR of Aspen

I was due for a dental cleaning and new to the area. I made an appointment for a consultation. They told me that I had advanced stages of periodontal disease. They also said that I have a cracked tooth and will need a root canal and a crown for one of my molars. They had me wait to meet with someone in the finance department. I started to feel like I was at a car dealership. I was told that that I needed a deep cleaning that would be $900. I also would need a root canal along with a crown on my cracked tooth. I was just about in tears that I don't even remember what the money figures were for the other services. I went home and started looking online the symptoms for periodontal disease. There was no way that I could have this disease. My teeth don't even bleed when I floss.

So I called Aspen and cancelled my $900 cleaning and had them refund my $600 deposit for the cleaning. I explained that I was getting a second opinion. No questions were asked, the appointment was cancelled and my refund was received in a timely manner. So today, I get back from my second opinion today. I was told that my gums were very healthy and that the "cracked" molar is simply a stain. Since going to Aspen and looking at online reviews, I noticed that the majority of the bad reviews were extremely similar to my experience. This corporate dental practice is a scam! I feel bad for all of the patients that are in debt due to not getting a second opinion!

At 0820, I'm the only one left in the waiting room, now 30 minutes in. I'm only there to have one tooth looked at... No work was to be done. Just look at it. So I go up to reception desk and ask when I will be seen.

I'm immediately called back, and trays were taken. I'm then put in a room, and wait some more. Others that were taken back before me are sitting in chairs in private rooms... waiting! At 0845, I left! My time is just as important as theirs. I have a 0900 appt elsewhere. My 5-minute tooth check never got looked at. This is the 3rd time, always late on appointments, never an explanation. Nobody even bothered to call to see if there is anything they could do, or even check up on me. Never going back.

Too bad I can't choose no stars for my rating. Unfortunately, due to loss of my job I had to sign on with a cheap dental insurance company who would only pay for me to go to Aspen Dental. Not sure if they are aware of what a rip off Aspen is. No privacy when receiving your "consultation". I was able to hear the conversations on the other sides of the walls in other consultation rooms. Pretty interesting that every client needed a deep cleaning - which of course is a MUCH higher price than a regular cleaning. I went in for a regular cleaning and to file a small chip in my tooth. Had no choice - if I wanted a cleaning it had to be a deep cleaning.

If I did everything they proposed it would have cost $3000.00 for a deep cleaning and to have a small chip in my tooth filed. $140.00 of this was for an electric toothbrush "specially made for Aspen Dental". In the end for the 2 things I went in for I still had to pay $1000.00 out of pocket. I'm surprised the dentist didn't intentionally cause my tooth to break when she filed it so she could suck me for a crown too. They advertise the exam and X-rays are free, but the charges appeared on my explanation of benefits from the insurance company. It would have been cheaper for me to go back to my own dentist and pay cash for the services that I needed at that time. When I see the commercial on TV with the Veteran who is thankful to have Aspen, I want to scream to him "Don't go there." This company is only out to make as much money as possible and rip off insurance companies and customers.

There is a class action lawsuit forming for Malpractice & Consumer Fraud (Google 'Aspen Dental class action Lawsuit'). Aspen completely fabricated issues that don't even exist. No excuse for this - they lied intentionally. Wife went in because she had some tooth pain. Hygienist had her in tears as the told her she was going to lose ALL her teeth eventually, and needed 7 removed immediately. Also told her she had 4 cavities, when she has 1. They told her that her entire mouth was infected and that is why she is in so much pain. Prescribed nothing but antibiotics. I honestly can't count how many lies they told, but it has to be around 10-15 straight up lies! How do these people sleep at night?

I will say, the employees at the front desk were very friendly and professional as the reviews state, but that is because they are trying to sell you dental work you never needed in the first place. The reason this feels so much different than every dentist you have gone to is because it is; they are 'selling' you, not helping you.

After a long sit with the Office Manager, we were handed a quote for close to $15,000 AFTER Insurance. We both nearly fainted. We went in for a simple tooth extraction, and we leave with a quote I could buy a brand new car with. They ran her credit to see how much she qualifies for - We were assured several times it wasn't a hard pull, and won't affect credit rating - YES, IT IS A HARD PULL! Office Manager said he was new and had only been there a short time, but if you don't know the answer to something, don't pretend you do. This was the first red flag, along with them attempting to charge us in advance for the following visit, that made us consider a second opinion. They also said they had to 'talk to Corporate' before releasing her dental records - What???

Well, we got our 2nd opinion, and it turns out she doesn't need a large majority of the work quoted. The things she does need were half the price as Aspen. Aspen recommended a root canal and crown for a tooth that doesn't need it, yet failed to mention a tooth that does need both of those things because they wanted to just pull it. It was a front upper tooth they wanted to remove. They are WAY overcharging customers.

So, the quote from the Reputable Dental Office my wife has used for many years was 1/10 of the price Aspen quoted. It is such a dramatic difference, there is no way this was accidental. They 100% were trying to not only take advantage of us, but commit fraud by fabricating issues that didn't exist. Get a second opinion, whatever you do. My wife would have no teeth right now had we not - she doesn't need a single extraction. No exposed roots, no extractions, and 1/4 the cavities they claimed she had. Absolutely ridiculous.

I made an appointment for a broken tooth and loss of a filling in one tooth April 16, 2019 for 8:00 am and was told to arrive 15 early to fill out paperwork. I signed in and handed over my insurance cards to the receptionist. Filled out the paperwork but I still sat waiting to be called. Noticed that other people who came in after me were being called back but it was 1 1/2 hours before I was finally called back. They immediately started taking xrays upon xrays. I have never had so many xrays taken for dental work! (When I finally left the office I begin getting this weird sort of headache and dizziness that I have never had before and am still having almost 2 wks later.)

After the xrays, I was taken to a room for the hygienist to exam my teeth. She poked around and gave numbers to the assistant. Then she tells me that I have gum disease, gingivitis and moderate bone loss in my gums and that she would have to do this deep cleaning and root planing before any work can be done. I don't have any problems with my gums and I have never had any dentist tell me that I had gum disease or gingivitis. She leaves the room and comes back with the dentist who doesn't even look at the xrays but tells me that I would have to have the deep cleaning and that I would have to have 3 teeth removed so that a partial could be placed on my lower back area of my mouth. Wasn't expecting that at all! The dentist then said that someone would go over the costs with me.

I was escorted to a room to wait for another half hour and then finally I was seen by an assistant Office Mgr who goes over a treatment plan and costs with me. The total plan, at that time, was $3,826 with my portion being almost $2,000 out of pocket and immediately shoves some advertising brochure at me to apply for "dental credit plan." I told her that I did not want to apply for any credit. She then asks if I could pay $200 down and then I would have to pay the balance before my next appointment in 2 wks.

I had lots of questions about the plan and the costs but was told that I needed to have everything done including a temporary partial which costs more than the permanent partial. She also said they had to take impressions on that date so that when I had the work done, they would put the temporary partial in right away. Now, I am no dentist but since there would be swelling due to removing teeth, how would that temporary even fit right.

After I got home I started reviewing the treatment plan and called and emailed this assistant office manager telling her what I wanted removed to bring the costs down for me to pay. I waited over a week before she finally got back to me! I also asked her if they had contacted my insurance as they would have to file a treatment plan with them so that they could let them know what would be covered and what I would have to pay. For some reason, they never contacted my insurance co saying that they were hard to reach so instead they were applying some sort "coupon discounts" which they never did explain to me. One of the major items that I did not want was the temporary partial.

After several emails and phone calls, I get a new treatment plan, with both dentures removed but I would still end up paying out of pocket $1300. When I told her that I would still want the permanent partial, I get another treatment plan with the cost of that partial increased by 56%!! Now all "coupon discounts" are removed and they have applied an "estimated insurance benefit" even though they still haven't filed a plan with my insurance co. My out of pocket is now higher due to the increased cost of the denture. It is at that point that I cancelled any further appointments with them and requested the refund of my down payment. I was told because of "company policy" it would take several weeks for me to get my refund!

My overall impression of Aspen Dental is that they want to make as much money as they can by telling you that you need more items than are actually necessary. Also, they are very reluctant to file insurance. Customer service is only good if you agree with everything that they recommend and tell you. Once you disagree, customer service is out the window! I would not recommend anyone going to Aspen Dental for any type of service.

I had an appointment at Aspen Dental 4/16/19 because I have some teeth in the front that needs repaired. My appointment was 11 a.m. I arrived at 1030 a.m. because I am always early for everything. I sat in the waiting room for almost an hour prior to being called back for an exam. The tech took a panoramic xray then moved me to another room where she took about 15 to 20 more days. She then moved me to an exam room, where I waited for the hygienist who told me I need to use an electric toothbrush, special high fluoride toothpaste and high fluoride mouth rinse after poking at each of my teeth and saying numbers of 1-5. She told me, “You don't want to hear any 5s because that is bad.” Well I didn't hear any 5s only 2, 3,and 4s.

When she was finished she told me that I had gum disease, gingivitis and moderate bone loss in my gums that my teeth will eventually fall out. She also said I need to have a deep cleaning and a root planing before any work can be done. She then left the room and after about 10 minutes the dentist came in. He put the x-ray up on a TV screen and said, “Yes you have moderate bone loss, gum disease and gingivitis. You really need to use an electric toothbrush, high fluoride toothpaste and high fluoride mouth rinse.” He can fix my teeth by doing 2 root canals and crowns but the deep cleaning and root planing need to be done first. He said, “The girls will go over the cost of all this with you.”

When the tech came back in she escorted me to a girl at the desk who showed me 4 or 5 sheets which all totaled up costs were over $17,000.00. I almost fell out of my chair. I told the girl at the desk, "That is more than I paid for my car. I just want my front teeth fixed before we start doing anything else." She told me she would have to check and see if that could be done. I told her, "It can and will be. It's my money and my teeth. I could have them all pulled and dentures made for less than that price." She said, “Well let's get you an appointment so we can get started.” I told her, "No need to make an appointment. I won't be back." I asked what the charge was for the visit today and she told me, “Oh there's no charge so we will see.” I sure hope I don't end up with a bill I am not going to be impressed, but I wasn't impressed with the whole thing. I wouldn't recommend Aspen Dental to anyone.

When I pulled up Aspen Dental website, I was impressed with the prices and the what seemed "AFFORDABLE DENTURES". My extractions should have been $139. Not including the 30% discount. So my extractions should have been around $90.00 and that is not including my Aetna discount. But they charged me $188.00 for the extractions. My bill was constantly changing, and the office manager could not explain my bill. I asked her when I was showing her my dental cards what is my cost out of pocket. She never answered me and continued working at the computer. If I knew that my cost would be doubled, I could have went elsewhere. The math is all wrong. They tell me I owe $1000 but the summary has $2,444. If I gave them 1,212.80 on 4/4/19 and $672.40 on 4/5/19 my balance is only $580.80. Not $1,000. Wonder what new charges they will add!

Donald disease, $135 toothbrush and the varnish that they don’t tell you what is making you look like you are a crackhead. I okay the one crown. He ground on it several times then get in my mouth and says going to take off some of your other tooth to make fit. I can’t do anything I cannot stop him. So he destroys another tooth for a new crown. He says I’ve been doing this a long time. He could not understand English when I tried questioning him. And said we are finished. I would like to take him to small claims court. They just want money so much they destroy your other teeth. To get you back. I will never go back.

I went just Monday of this week, 4/8/19, for an evaluation before starting bisphosphonates for severe osteoporosis. I have the worst osteoporosis from taking **, and I am only 56 years old. I was diagnosed with osteo disease 10 years ago, and it has only gotten worse. There is a danger of osteonecrosis of the jaw (jaw bone death) from taking these bone-building drugs, so I wanted to make sure I am squared away with dental treatment before I started taking them.

The visit started off well enough. I was asked to fill out four pages of new patient forms, which I did in the waiting room. I gave my completed forms to the receptionist (who is the "office manager" a.k.a. sales rep). After giving her my forms, about 10 minutes later she calls me up to the desk and points out that I have not completed the part that gives them permission to request my pharmacy records. It is marked as optional on the form I completed. I looked again at the form, and I said, "I don't think it's necessary." Then she says, "Well it is if you want treatment here." I then said (I had a pen in my hand) "Then why does your form say it's optional?" And I circled the word optional beside where she insisted I sign. Oh boy, did I piss her off. Not good... I need these people to take care of me.

I was called back shortly after, and I won't detail it all, because my experience was identical to every other experience chronicled here: x-rays (so many x-rays!), hygienist comes in, pokes all over my mouth calling out numbers (which was odd, because they were short-staffed that day and no one was logging the numbers. I wondered... was she being voice recorded? I truly think it was all for show... NO ONE WAS WRITING THESE NUMBERS DOWN!). She tells me I need a deep cleaning over several visits then tries to sell me the toothbrush.

Next, the dentist comes in. She does a brief exam and proceeds to tell me that I need to have ALL of my teeth extracted and go to a full denture. At this point, I am in total shock. She asks me to agree to the treatment, but I told her I first needed to see a detailed treatment plan. She escorts me to a FREEZING waiting room where I sit for at least 49 minutes until my new best friend, the "office manager"/high-pressure sales rep I'd already pissed off comes to get me to discuss costs/financing. The cost before insurance and "discounts" was almost $15,000, but I could get all of this wonderful treatment for just under $10,000, did I want to schedule for full extraction in just two weeks and sign the dotted line on the finance form? I left the office numb and in shock. Then I Googled Aspen Reviews. I feel like I haven't only dodged a bullet... I escaped the firing squad. STAY AWAY FROM ASPEN DENTAL.

Now, March of 2019, I have a collection agency calling requesting payment. Explained to them that this bill was paid at time of procedure. Collection agency didn't care and wants payment stating that I have to get Aspen Dental to remove the bill. This is absurd!!!

I had two very badly decayed upper molars, one of which was abscessed and infected. The infection actually spread to my ear and jaw. The pain was unbelievable. I work a 7:30-5 job, sometimes ten days straight with very little time off. Therefore, making time to see my regular dentist was nearly impossible, so I reluctantly made an appointment with my local Aspen Dental, as they're open later and have flexible hours.

When I went in for my appointment, they first took X-rays of my teeth which literally took about ten minutes. Afterward, I requested to look at my X-rays. The technician told me that she couldn't show me, but the dentist would. Strange, but I was in such pain, that I wasn't going to argue at that point. She then took me back to the room and had me wait for the dental hygienist.

Once the hygienist came in, she asked what the problem was. I told her and after quite some time and a strange test in which she named off numbers for each of my teeth for the technician to enter into the computer, she confirmed that I had two teeth that could not be saved. She also told me I had a lower molar which was badly decayed, as well as moderate gum disease and gingivitis, but that those issues could be fixed with their special electric toothbrush and medicated mouth rinse. I told them I was not interested in treating those issues presently and that right now, I just really need my two upper molars dealt with. She debated this issue with me until she realized she was not going to persuade me. She then left to retrieve the dentist.

The dentist came in, confirmed what the hygienist had told me, and told me to go make an appointment to come back for the three extractions (the two upper molars I knew needed pulled and the lower molar that has never caused me problems). I then, again, requested to see my X-rays and the dentist told me there really wasn't any need for me to seem them, as abscesses don't really show up well on X-rays (uh, what)? I asked, regardless, if I could still see them. She began becoming combative with me, huffing and puffing, and stated she would "try to locate them." Well, what the heck, lady, where the hell would they have gone? She left me waiting in the chair for 22 minutes (I counted) before I just left. Never did see the X-rays.

I went out to the desk to make an appointment. The employee asked about my insurance. I told her that my insurance pays up to $1,000 per year for extractions. A cost more than $1,000 would be out of pocket. She then told me that she would contact me the next day and give me an estimate for this procedure. I have had many friends and family who have gotten teeth extracted in which the total cost was never even close to $1,000, even for multiple teeth, so I was not worried about the cost. I assumed my insurance would cover it completely.

The next day I received a call. The employee told me she had the estimate. I asked her what the cost was and she said $2,411.61. I asked her to repeat herself and she repeated the same figure. I then said, "Wow...okay...? So with my insurance, my out-of-pocket cost would be over $1,000...?" She then stated, "No, $2,411.61 IS your out-of-pocket cost." I then asked, "And this cost is just for two teeth extractions, correct?" She confirmed this and then asked me if I would like to confirm my appointment. I clearly remember saying, "Uh...no," and hung the phone up.

Needless to say, I took a day off work and visited my regular dentist as soon as possible. He took X-rays, SHOWED THEM TO ME AND ALSO SUBSEQUENTLY PRINTED ME A COPY FOR MYSELF without my even requesting it. He then pointed out the abscesses to me on the X-ray (surprise, abscessed teeth DO show up on X-rays). He stated that both upper molars were, indeed, beyond repair.

However, when I asked about the apparent irreparable damage to my lower molar and my moderate gum disease and gingivitis, he looked stunned and confused, paused for a moment, and asked, "Why do you believe you have those issues?" I explained to him that Aspen Dental told me I did. He rolled his eyes and let me know that my lower molar was not decayed, let alone beyond repair, nor did he see any signs of gingivitis or gum disease, nevermind moderate gum disease. At this point, I was livid with Aspen Dental and wanted the whole world to know the kind of "services" they provide.

I subsequently scheduled an appointment with my dentist to have the two teeth extracted. The whole process took about a half an hour and the best part? I did not have to pay a single cent for the procedure. My insurance did, indeed, cover the cost because, as I expected, no routine tooth extraction, in any universe, costs more than $1,000, let alone over $2,000.

To sum up, against my better judgment, I visited Aspen Dental. I regretted it almost immediately. Since visiting them, I have heard and read others' horror stories about that establishment, some experiences worse than mine. I am, in no way, an exception. In fact, you can read stories from former employees who quit after a couple months because they couldn't stand working there anymore, some claiming that they could no longer sleep at night knowing that their company was taking advantage of vulnerable and naive individuals and blatantly ripping them off with unnecessary procedures and add-ons to their bill that were never disclosed to them, nor requested by the patients.

I wanted to give Aspen Dental a chance and allow them the benefit of the doubt. Obviously, I should not have. They are a business, after all. Please, please just visit your regular dentist and if you don't have one, find one; They're everywhere. I would hate to see anyone else fall victim to the unethical, abhorrent business practices of a place like Aspen Dental.

They made no effort to even schedule another appointment and now I am suffering with two major dental problems. I consulted another dentist and he can see me in 6-8 weeks. I even went in to have some removed, mouth still inflamed and no temporary denture, they tried to put one in mouth but the tech kept grinding off pieces until it literally was ruined so she threw it away, I never went home with a denture, ok fast forward, my mouth spurs are almost healed enough to touch, so I decide to go get my temporary denture that I had already paid for, they got 2620.00 the first visit. I paid in full for everything including the immediate denture.

Well I never received a temporary denture even though they claim I did. They want to charge me another 503.00 for a lower denture. Considering that the tech messed the first one up and claims I received it, what's to say they won't do the same again. Cutting my losses with this company. This time I was told that we each had to pay $100 for our deductible for our insurance!! Why would they not tell my husband that when they took his $40.80 at the visit!! I was told several times during the visit that I would owe nothing. They even had me sit down to go over a very expensive plan for future care and never said anything about owing for that day!! Immediately I felt something is fishy going on. Money. New person doing good to bring money in for Aspen whether or not it’s honorable. I left that day extremely uncomfortable and disappointed in their practice. I returned at a later date and requested my regular hygienist to clean my teeth, after the former bad experience. She found nothing wrong with my gums.

At another time I needed a new crown. It took the assistant three times to get the impression. I was used as a guinea pig. Finally the last impression worked. When I returned to have the cap fitted. I left with promise. Shortly thereafter the cap came out. Went back again to have the cap cemented in. I left and in just a few days the cap came out again. I went back for a third time and the dentist on call that day had no success in fitting the cap in properly and she began filing down the cap that was fitted just fine prior. Horrific experience. Aspen will not schedule a simple cleaning which I get every 6 months with my previous dentist. Aspen has to do a new patient evaluation first. I was told to arrive 15 minutes early for paperwork, at 330pm. They did a tremendous number of XRays. Never seen anything like that. Then I sat in a back "lounge" for an hour. Next they moved me to a treatment room & I sat for another hour. The whole time I could hear everything in the other rooms, discussing treatment plans and issues, taking people to a business manager's office afterward to discuss financing. The only thing I could not hear was the financing discussions but it reminded me of a car dealership.

They have a strict sales process they follow while customer sits & waits & wonders what happens next. After 2.5 hours waiting to find out what happens to me after xrays, waiting for some kind of gum examine I heard, then heard a doctor visit was next, then followed by the trip to the business manager's office for a finance talk, I just left. I arrived at 330pm & left 6pm. Only did the x-rays & never saw a hygienist or a doctor. I didn't want to wait longer & see who was on the night shift... laff. I'm not that curious and can smell a setup. I'm old enough to know when to run and find a real dentist. Recommend you find someplace else unless you like car dealership like sales operations.

After about 20 minutes of waiting I went to the front office & was told that the clerk was having problems with the computer. I went to Aspen Dental after about a year of not going to the dentist. I brush my teeth three times a day and floss. They started with X-rays and then brought me into another room with a dental hygienist. She began "assessing my gums" by stabbing them with the dental tool and calling out numbers to the scribe. (This was the first time in my life this type of test was ever performed on me). After she finishes she explains that I have moderate stage of gum disease (forget the medical term she used) and said I would need deep cleaning with antibiotics. At this point they still had me fooled. Then the dentist came in and immediately asked if I "grind my teeth at night", no I don't, but nonetheless, she recommends a $400 "nightguard" for grinding my teeth at night.

At this point they have you thinking you have the worst hygiene on the planet. That's when they bring you into the sales room. This woman legit said "So that went pretty well, let's look at the damages, so after insurance it would be $2800 for the deep cleaning and antibiotics." That's when it hit me that it was a scam. I should have known right away my gums didn't decay that much in one year. I'm not kidding when I say I said "yeah right" and got up and left. I immediately googled "Aspen Dental ripoff" and sure enough I get to this website and I read hundreds of people telling the EXACT same story as me. Do. Not. Go. Here. I am going for a "second opinion" at a more reputable dentist and they already quoted me far less over the phone for a worse case scenario. She then comes in and tells me that the tooth/filling is broken and when would I like to come back to have it done. Sorry, why would I wait 2 weeks to just come in for an x-ray?

I told her that I wanted it done now, which she then agreed to do. She gave me the ** injection and almost immediately tried to work on the tooth. When I told her that I could feel pain, she then gave me a second injection of **, then her and the assistant basically sat there for about 5 minutes before she tried to drill again. Once again, I was in pain. She then informs me that I would have to reschedule for another time since the ** wasn't working, instead of giving the medication more time to work, or just giving me more. I argued that I needed it done today, why couldn't she give me more ** and wait a bit to finish. She tells me that she had already given me 2 injections, and that I was just "nervous", then walked out of the room to see her next patient, which I overheard her telling the assistant was an implant (much more $ than she was getting for my filling).

I then went to the waiting room to wait in order to speak to the office manager, who was busy selling someone their overpriced dental financing to talk to me. Once she was done, I was told that they could see if there was another location that could finish my filling, as they had already drilled out a portion of it and I insisted that it had to be finished today. She told me that there were no available appointments anywhere for that day. I then went on to ask why the dentist couldn't just give me more **, wait a bit, then do it. She told me that the appointment that I had made for that day was a "limited visit" and that the dentist agreed to do the filling as a courtesy, but since I wasn't able to be numbed, then she couldn't finish.

Told me that she couldn't give me more **, said it could cause heart racing - believe me, I've had more than 1 shot to have procedures done there in the past, so that was BS. I then told the manager that the dentist was inept at her job, that I had her fill a cavity in the past that I had to argue with her about because it was still painful many months afterwards. The office manager then went on to tell me "I'm not going to allow you to badmouth my doctor or the staff". I then asked for my x-rays, they were given to me, as well, I asked for the corporate office number, the dentist's name and her name (office manager). She gave these to me and I left with the intention of finding another dentist in the area that could finish the tooth.

I then went to my car to use my phone to find another dentist. About 15 minutes after I left, I received a call from another office manager who apologized for what happened and asked me to see if they could squeeze me in at another location. I agreed and she was able to get me in at another Aspen Dental location, which was halfway across town. I made it there, and it was a MUCH better office, with a dentist who actually knew what he was doing. I was really numb by then, so he tried to drill, but I was still feeling pain. He did what any experienced dentist would do, he gave me more **! He went to work on another patient, then was able to come back and finish the drilling and filling. Imagine that, a dentist that actually knows what they're doing and how to do it.

I plan to report this dentist from the original office to the Ohio State Dental Board. First of all, you don't MINIMIZE a patient's pain, try to gaslight them by telling them it's not pain, it's being "nervous", and since this is not the first time I've been minimized by this particular dentist in regards to pain she caused, I think I'm more than warranted to report this. I have never been "nervous" about a dental procedure, she's just inept at her job! Stay away from the Toledo, Ohio location of Aspen Dental would be my suggestion. The one I went to that finished my dental work was in Perrysburg, Ohio, and I would recommend them, it's worth the drive!

I had a temporary crown placed on Thursday morning; Sunday evening, it disintegrated in my mouth although I had carefully avoided chewing on that side of my mouth all weekend. I called 1st thing Monday morning to get in for a repair and was offered an appt the following day, or the option of walking in and waiting to be squeezed in on Monday. I needed the tooth protected, and I needed it right away; the woman on the phone apologized that their schedule was full, and again offered me the walk in option - with the caveat that I would probably be waiting hours. The temporary installation had failed, and my perception is that, when there's a customer problem you fix it as quickly and seamlessly as possible - it's called customer "service" for a reason! Aspen had none.

I contacted several other dental facilities in the area, explained my situation to each one. I ended up at another provider on Monday morning who did the repair and with whom I felt a high level of confidence; the other provider will be completing my crown work at slightly less than half of the price quoted by Aspen. I would recommend careful shopping when in need of dental work, and I would not recommend Aspen after this experience. Additionally, I paid to have two temporary crowns on the initial Thursday visit; only one was done due to the time constraints of the dentist (she had car trouble and my appointment was pushed back an hour). However, because they request payment before you have anything done, I'd paid for the anticipated two crowns. Will be interesting to see how difficult a refund may be.

Just this morning my husband went into the office to what we thought was going to be for impressions, & extractions for his new partial. We had been there in October for the initial consultation, and were told that his next visit would be to get impressions and do the extractions. We were told otherwise once we got there. I naturally became upset because we had already planned for my husband's time from being away from work. I wanted to make sure my husband would have everything completed before going back to work. I was assertive in my tone, and I have a naturally loud voice so the staff assumed I was being rude.

When one of the staff members wanted me to make payment, I said that the price might need adjusting because he recently got a tooth extracted. I thought it was one of the top teeth they were planning on pulling. The lady asked if I knew which one it was. I said I didn't and asked if they could just look to see which one it was. The receptionist insisted that I call the dentist that pulled the tooth to get the information. I was dumbfounded at this point, because a simple look in his mouth would have answered her question. I ended up calling the other dentist, and I asked for the information Aspen was looking for. The lady immediately cracked up and asked the same question I did. Why couldn't they just look? I agreed with them.

Meanwhile the Aspen Receptionist went to go complain to the dentist and told her I was being rude to the staff. I never cussed or screamed at them. I was assertive and like I said naturally loud, but never cruel. When the receptionist came back to the front, I let her know which tooth it was. I was calm at the time. Soon after my husband comes out and tells me that the dentist is going to refuse to see him, if I don't apologize to her staff. At this point I do become livid. How can they threaten a patient of theirs for a problem they have with someone else.

Even if I am his spouse, they have no right to treat him like that. The dentist should have come directly to me to handle the problem. Not once did I scream or cuss, but boy I wanted to. I even apologized to her and explained how I have a naturally loud voice and that what she was experiencing was how I am all the time. I even tried seeking sympathy for being a diabetic. Right now my sugar is uncontrolled and my mood can be rough for people to handle. She didn't want to hear any excuses and refused my apology. The next best thing I could think of to defuse the situation was to leave the office. So I did.

A few seconds later my husband comes out and says that they refused services to him. That made me more upset, and I went back inside and told them I would call Aspen Corporate and the Texas Department of Insurance. Calling the Texas Department of Insurance does not make sense, but I wasn't thinking clearly at the time. I know I didn't handle things at the end very well, but my husband should not have had to suffer for it. Worst experience ever! If I could give a zero, I would.

Plus if teeth failed we would have to put another $5000 out because they wanted husband to get full upper and lower dentures again, not just the lowers. What a racket!

Overall I was told that it would cost $5000.00 to fix the problems with my teeth. I was told I would have to go on antibiotic treatment before the tooth could be fixed. I was scared about what they were telling me. It was outrageous! But before I could leave they basically threatened me and said I would have to pay upfront before they would even book another visit. I asked again and again to just have the front tooth fixed but they said no. They also told me I was losing bone in my jaw fast.

The next week I went to a long time dentist in my town and he said I did not have Periodontal disease or gingivitis. I was not losing bone in my jaw either. He told me he could and would fix my for $600.00. Aspen Dental is a scam place set up to threaten its customers with bogus illnesses and charges. It is funny that everyone who walks into the Arrowhead location has Periodontal disease. I requested a refund of my money and still have not gotten it. Aspen Dental is a rip off. I will never go back there and will tell all others run, run away fast or you too will have some disease in your mouth. This place will make up things just to make more money. HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT BAD MOUTHING SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE NOTHING BUT TRY TO HELP YOU? THE ONLY BIT OF ADVICE I CAN GIVE to myself, is to wait at least 24 hours, after the fact, before writing about it. Be truthful with no embellishments for humor's sake. Because there is nothing funny about this. Here, is the rest of the story! (To coin a phrase, sorry Harvey).

In my last rant, I wrote about my experience with Aspen Dental and what they tried to do for me. I showed pictures of me with my new teeth. Those pictures were the only time I have ever had the teeth in my mouth, other than the 4 fittings I have had. Why? They don't fit. If I try and talk or do anything with them they just get all tangled up and fall out of my mouth.

I was told by my dentist on my second fitting, that I did not have enough bone in my jaw and skull for the teeth to grip to. I hollered back at him at the time "You're the one that chizzled it out!" It has been 6 months since it all started. I did not get the juicy thick porterhouse I had been looking forward to, for half a year, as my reward for my endeavors. I have not tasted bacon for 6 months either, because I can't chew it. That is saying something, from someone that has called himself the "Bacon man" on FB for years. The only saving grace on that fact is, I haven't bought any bacon in 6 months either. I can now buy a car and pay cash for it.

Yesterday when they were giving me my last fitting the dental assistant explained that "All" bottom teeth were "Floaters" as they have nothing to hold on to. Really? My parents both had dentures, they never used one drop of glue in theirs, or had "Floaters". My dentist basically told me I didn't have enough bone. (That's what she said) "Badaboom" (Ok, I just can't help myself).

When my fitting was over, I was bumrushed out the door, like I was trying to date their daughter. Wam bam get out. No sucker, no have a nice life, just gone. (sigh) I am actually being very subdued. Can you imagine the hell I would raise if I had paid 10 grand for new teeth that didn't fit? Let the lawsuits commence. I feel bad that what Aspen Dental tried to do for me (for free) failed. They also spent 6 months, and almost 10 grand (what it would have cost me) to give me a smile. My positive stint on this is, all my rotten teeth are gone, no more pain or abscess. No more antibiotics, no more sleepless nights. So thank you Aspen Dental. Better luck next time.

Of course I only needed the one filling done and my dentist made no mention of needing two others. It has been six months and have not needed any other teeth filled. Also my dentist told me that I didn’t need a deep cleaning.

Furthermore, I’d like to mention that I am an insurance broker. A few of my clients shared similar experiences with me at aspen over the past few months. One of them was even charged for a deep cleaning when she didn’t receive one. She is still fighting them on it. To me that is disgusting!!! Aspen Dental Nightmare. I had some bottom teeth bad & hurting for a few months. Food was getting stuck & was time to get rid of the pain. I went to Aspen Dental for pain relief & fix bottom teeth. They gave me pain killers acknowledging my pain & lower teeth problems. Then decided to ignore all pain & lower teeth & said i had to pull all front teeth (good & no pain or problems) that I was losing bone fast & had to come out asap. (**) Went home realizing I'm being set up for a mouth full of problems. So I made 2 special appointments 1st the office mgr. Letting him know we were approaching this backwards & we need to address my pain & then worry about the good teeth that wasn't a painful issue. Told them to keep deposit & deal with my pain. Fell upon deaf ears.

Went back for 2nd appointment. This time with dentist. Went over same issues & nothing at all done. Day of teeth being pulled probably 10 days later. Broke roots off in jaw, could hear & feel it, 2 bloody trips to xray to figure out if they left any roots (Jaw all jacked up now). I got my whole mouth of problems & pain. (Thanks Aspen.) No antibiotics or painkillers. NOTHING!! Went to get stitches out, gums & jaw not healing right, blood coming from gums just removing stitches. Just the look on her face & she said this isn't good. What a NIGHTMARE! Now after $5000+ they will not finish my permanent denture until I sign what they call a consent form but it releases them of all liabilities & I forfeit my warranty which was 1 of the deciding factors for me. I totally got screwed & they don't care.

Also the last time I went in, the admin said she would contact them. I went in. They called me up to give me a hard time about a bogus bill I didn't owe. After they dug deeper & I kept refusing to pay something I didn't owe, FINALLY after more than 1 person digging into it finally admitted it was their error & work never done. Once again a NIGHTMARE. That's my story of Aspen Dental. I only had 1 shot of getting it right, i should have done a better job of checking reviews. I just wanted the pain to stop. Now I have more pain, with all the impressions other teeth giving me problems because of impressions pulling old fillings so they caused more problems & I still have original problem teeth & now it's getting cold & bothering me more. Bad part is I still need a dentist. After several months & $5285.00 in work I'm in more pain, lost sleep due to pain & more miserable now than when I started. THANKS ASPEN.

I wouldn’t even give the Zanesville office a 1 star if I could. My boyfriend went to Aspen Dental in Zanesville, Ohio. He was having excruciating pain in his tooth. The receptionist was doing check ins, other scheduling, payments, and answering all calls plus making calls. It was like they didn’t have a billing department who could do the payments and make ins calls. Which made for poor service up front. When you walked in you had to sign in then sit and wait for them to call you up, then half the patients that walked in they were questioned if they were sure they had an appointment.

The one patient was in a wheelchair and her husband with her the dental assistant went to take them back and the patient told her that her husband needed to come to help her into the dental chair and the assistant said to her “What? You think I can’t help you.” Like it was a burden she was wanting her family to do it. Then they had to go thru a door and the assistant said “You need to hold that door for me.” I’ve never seen people so rude to customers.

The one gentleman sat there and was there before us (we arrived at 2:00 pm) and close to 3 pm he went up and said he was just rescheduling because he couldn’t wait all day, and the receptionist said “Did you sign in?” He said "Yes my appointment was at 2," the receptionist said “We have you down for 3:15." So my question is, when you check people in, do you pay attention enough to see they’re over an hour early, to reassure them? “Your appointment isn’t until 3:15, is that still okay, you’re more than welcome to wait, just wanted to be sure my info is correct.”

The office didn’t let families go back with the patients because they said there wasn’t room, which is fine, but if I’m sitting there 2 hrs while you’re seeing my family, please give me a small update, like “Your family is doing fine. Things are just taking a while." There they didn’t tell you nothing. Didn’t even explain paperwork to new patients so they know where to sign and what to fill out.

A woman had to come out and talk to her husband in the waiting room about a payment they had to make that day and if they wanted to do the procedure, to me, why couldn’t they allow the family to come into the patient room to talk about that, where it’s private, not where the waiting room could hear it discussed. I called to get a refund of a half payment we made to make an extraction appointment and they told me 7-10 days because of corporate and when I asked for a number for corporate, the billing person refused to give me corporate contact information. Poor service, rude, and all around a terrible experience.

I've had severe dental anxiety since I was a kid. My anxiety was improving with age until we started seeing Aspen Dental when I was in my early teens. The staff are cold and impersonal; the dentists rarely spoke to me, instead, they'd walk into the room and start doing whatever it was I needed done without explaining anything (being walked through the process is something anxious patients often benefit from). It felt very clinical and robotic, as if they didn't see me (or any other patient, I imagine) as an individual person with a unique situation. Needless to say, this felt very isolating and intimidating. I had a lot of fillings done here, and I noticed on multiple occasions that they also seemed rushed; they wouldn't wait for the numbing gel to take effect before injecting the local anesthetic, and would start drilling very soon after.

Since I had braces as a kid, I also had decalcification on my enamel. My orthodontist had told me that whitening treatments would be too harsh on my teeth (I already had significant sensitivity). During one appointment the dentist attempted to sell me a whitening treatment, asking me if I'd ever considered it. When I told them my teeth were too sensitive, they brushed it off and asked, "Why wouldn't your teeth be strong enough for it?" It was at that point that I started to strongly believe that Aspen cares more about making money than they do about the health and comfort of their patients. I stopped going about two years ago and I'll never go back, but unfortunately it left me with dental anxiety worse than I had when I started with them, which I have to manage with medication to this day. My new dentist works at an independent clinic and all of the staff members are exceptionally friendly, patient, and excellent with managing anxiety.

They did not x-rays, but a hygienist looked at my tooth/teeth and came back a few minutes later with a larger display board and said that I had so much bone loss that I need to start considering what type of dentures I wanted after my teeth were pulled. The dentist then came in and talked to me for about 5 minutes about the merits of dentures vs implants. I left with a list an estimate of about $13,000 and the urgent advice that this needs to be done immediately and I should consider taking out a loan if necessary.

I decided to get a second opinion and do a little research on Aspen Dental. I didn't tell the dentist Aspen's diagnosis of extreme bone loss and recommendation of extracting all of my teeth. The new dentist took x-rays and told me that there was minor bone loss and the beginning of gum disease which could be arrested without issue. I asked him if he was sure of that diagnosis. I then told him what Aspen dental had told me. He wasn't shocked. This is a private-equity owned chain who's motivation is to make money. Your best interests are not theirs.

I was told I’d get a full refund for a root canal and crown that they messed up on and told me to just go to advanced endodontics who would fix it by a dentist named Taylor. I spent seven months waiting for my full refund and was told multiple times by representatives like Nick who I come to find out was a ‘temp” that they just “couldn’t get a hold of” that my refund was coming only to find out at the end that I wasn’t getting my full refund. I spent more than $3000 on this tooth. I reported them to the BBB and the answer was “we apologize but you won’t be getting the rest of your refund”. I’m absolutely disgusted. I wouldn’t refer them to anyone. They are unprofessional and can’t be trusted. I wish they had recorded phone lines to prove my case. Get everything in writing or end up like me losing $700 plus.

I had two crowns (one was a bridge crown). Both of these have come off in the space of 18 months after being manufactured and fitted. I am now on MA due to loss of my job and so I don't know how I will be able to get these fixed. The quality of work is not good and they must use an inferior adhesive for them to have come out in such a small amount of time. Do not use them.

I spent 3 grand to get the ultra lite dentures. The place in West bend is the worst place I ever went to. Almost every time I went I had a different person. I had so many crappy dentures I couldn't believe it. The set I have I was told to just live with it. I had to file one side of my dentures flat, just so I could close my mouth. I still have the soft liner, they never even finished, talk about a ripoff.

Hello All! DO NOT waste your time with Aspen Dental! First off, I had a scheduled for a Saturday a month in advance and out of nowhere I received a email confirmation for my appointment but it was for a different date! I called the office to discuss as I was looking at my appointment card and they said the hygienist must have wrote the wrong date on my card but I was going out of town so I could not make that appointment, delaying my treatment a month. Upon arriving at my 2nd appointment after they have done the initial work, they then informed me a additional $150 would be due. I was not informed prior to this appointment that I would have to come out of pocket since I am on their finance plan... especially a couple hundred bucks. I suggested adding the amount to my open account but they informed me there was no available credit and with it being Christmas time I could not afford to pay so I had to walk out.

The next day, I received my statement and what did it say? $1000 available credit! I called the office, asked to speak with a manager (the manager was actually the lady who said I had no available credit the day before). Told her the situation and said I could email or fax her a copy of my statement, she denied and said she doesn't need my copy and will take care of it... That was on Dec 14 2018, today is January 7 2019 and I have yet to hear back from them.

I work in customer service and if I do not have a answer right away you follow up with your customers, reassure them you are working on the issue but no, no call. I called Aspen Dental today to make sure all the work was performed that I am paying monthly for and said I no longer need their services. I will never return and I will make sure everyone I know who asks for a referral to not send them to Aspen Dental, thank you.

I went to Aspen Dental because I did not have insurance and I needed new dentures, so after all the impression and seeing 3 different dentist during this time, the dentures are crap and I am stuck with them. My last appointment I saw yet another dentist, and after an alignment they still did not fit good, I was told I would just have to use dentures adhesive and that was it. I thought I was saving some money but I guess you get what you pay for. My advice is to see a dentist that specializes in dentures, pay the more money and get a better quality. I wish I had, what a waste of money. Now I am stuck with these crappy dentures.

I was seen initially on 11/13 when a treatment plan was devised; deep cleaning, 2 crowns, a filling, an extraction and partials. 2 days later the cleaning was done and an appointment was made for 11/27 to start the 1st crown and do the extraction. On 11/26 at 9:07pm, I received a message from Bradley stating I needed to call in the morning to reschedule the 11/27 appointment. The appointment was rescheduled for 12/3. When I arrived for that appointment I was greeted by a 'new' dentist with no explanation. After viewing my xrays, the 'new' dentist informed me that instead of a filling, I would need another crown (that should have raised the first flag). Bradley (the 2nd office manager I dealt with) informed me that it would increase my bill by $828. I reluctantly agreed but was deeply concerned about the change of treatment plan.

I was not informed of an additional $195 build-up charge at that time and the crown was prepped after spending 3-plus hours in the chair while the dentist saw other patients intermittently. My next appt. was scheduled for 12/20 at 9:00am. I arrived before anyone- including the staff- at about 8:45. When the doors opened, 2 other patients had arrived and they were called to the back to be seen. Although puzzled, I patiently waited to be called. About 45 minutes later I was called to the back to be seated and was told the office manager would be in to talk to me. This was good because I wanted to address my concerns about the change in treatment plans.

When she came in 15 minutes later, it was the 3rd office manager I had seen in 3 visits. I informed her of the 'new' dentists change and wanted to know how/why this happened. She gave me the company line regarding how they wanted to do what was best for the patient, etc., etc and that my original dentist was back and would stick to the original plan. WHAT!?! How could he stick to the original plan when the 'new' dentist had changed it, started it and left. She told me that she was there temporarily from the Bossier office and could only tell me what my chart showed. At this point I was mad and disappointed. She then informed me that my crown had not arrived and they were waiting on the day's UPS delivery to deliver it and asked if I could wait another 15 minutes. Although fuming at this point, I agreed to wait. 30 minutes later after seeing no one, I decided to reschedule my appointment (Why wasn't I informed upon my arrival?).

At this point I was no longer confident in Aspen's ability to meet my expectations and decided to request a refund once the crown arrived since it was already paid for. My next appointment was scheduled for 12/31 at 3:30pm to have the crown applied. I arrived early as usual (about 3:25) and noticed several people filling out paperwork and I assumed they were new patients. During the next hour and 55 minutes, not only were these patients seen before me, 2 more appointments arrived after I did and subsequently rescheduled their appt, and left after a lengthy wait. I couldn't understand why walk-ins were being seen before those with appts. Then it occurred to me that they already had my money so it was more beneficial to get new money by seeing the walk-ins first. That just isn't right!

My sister was a DDS and I have beautiful, natural looking dentures. She actually copied my real teeth. The actors in the TV commercial have terrible dentures, they all look the same on all three patients, all typical fake teeth! I would NEVER consult Aspen Dental!!!

I explained from the beginning to the dental office that I was terrified of dentist for many years. They knew from the beginning my concerns and fears. Finally I met the Doctor in which from beginning to end she tortured my mouth and kept on cutting me with the denture forcing it in my gums and cutting my whole mouth and tongue. They finally removed that doctor from complaints of other patients as well. They have another doctor in which she was very concern and see that the dentures were done wrong not my fitting for my mouth causing me to hurt my gums and tongue. She seen me and put an ointment throughout my gums and inner cheek.

To my understanding I was supposed to get my final dentures in which they still haven't done it. So in December I went into the office thinking I am getting them today. So the answer to that was she didn't have them nor did they know the color in which I had picked the color back with that other doctor. I feel that they need to provide the service correct to people and stop abusing them. I have great fear of dentist and they all knew this from the beginning. Now I couldn't go to my church on the 24th and I couldn't do my dinner for the family either. I have been hurting both side of my inner cheeks, gums are swollen and my tongue is in flame. My doctor, gave me ** for the pain and a wash for my mouth. I believe that your company is at fault for my mouth hurting as it is. No one bothered to do nothing about till now.

I got my bottom basic denture in 2016 from Aspen Dental in Auburn Maine. In the 6 months they were on warranty they were fixed numerous times, twice for broken in half! (NOT by dropping but by chewing.) Never have they fit right as I tried telling them every time I went, traveling a little over an hour mind you. They always told me that the bottom denture always fits harder than the top which I have done by Aspen Dental too only this one in Portland no issues. NEVER. Have had them for 11 yrs now. So here I am almost 2 years later with these bottom denture and they've broke in half again!!! Obviously warranty expired and now I got to pay out of pocket (did get a coupon which brought my payment from $158.00 to $79.00 AWESOME Thank You) and wait two weeks for them to be fixed!

If I'd have known that there was going to be this much Issues I would of taken the money back guarantee which really should be longer with it taking so long to adjust to them for some. Now they sit in a cup as I make payments every month and don't have them. My mouth is hurting bad with two weeks to wait before I can get them fixed. Just wished I would have read all the reviews & realized that this would happen. Knowing every time I took them back for work especially when they're broken in half it made the denture weaker! I have NO choice but to have them fixed yet again because I cannot deal with being without them! Am hoping that after this fix they never break in half again at least until the 5 to 7 years that I'm suppose to enjoy them.

I paid upfront for dentures. They told me my co-pay was $2100. Today I received another bill in the amount of another $1000...this was to pay for the temporary dentures. First of all the temporaries have never fit from day one. They are grossly over-sized and I cannot chew the food properly. I keep telling them this and the only response I get is "Oh, your gums are shrinking and they'll get liners and then they will fit." My granddaughter says that they're ugly. I thought the temps were part of the package, I bought the high-end dentures. I'm not paying for something that still does not fit and if this is the kind of work that they do, then what kind of expectations should I have for the permanent dentures? I had to cash out part of my 401(k) to pay for these. I can't afford anymore billing.
