My Daughter went to Aspen Dental. She has been having mouth pain and I saw a ad on TV about how they want everyone to have great dental treatment. Well my daughter doesn't have insurance and when she was done with the dental exam and 100s of X-ray, they told her they needed $400.00 up front and oh wait cause she was pregnant and couldn't waitress anymore, they would not make a payment plan for her. Oh and they said she had over 15 cavities in her mouth. The girl was extremely rude once she found out she wasn't working. I will tell everybody about how rude Aspen Dental is. To top it off, they wouldn't give anything (prescription for antibiotics) for the infection or pain she was in. So don't know what she is going to do now... Very, very disappointed in ASPEN Dental...

I went to ASPEN DENTAL looking to make my smile better. I had a broken tooth 3rd for the front so I wanted to see if it could be fixed. They told me it had to be pulled & a tooth on the other side had some decay but told me to get my teeth cleaned first. This tooth was constantly getting infected. They said to pull it & not to worry they can put a temporary tooth in until can get a bridge. Sounded easy. Waiting for my next appointment my cracked tooth completely broke & was hanging there. I tried calling the on call Dr. but there was none. I have no insurance & going to the ER wasn't really an option so I pulled it out myself. OUCH!! I went back to ASPEN & the dentist cut my entire gum because there might be some tooth left. But I had the tooth. You could clearly see there couldn't be that much left to go to that extreme of cutting my gums like that. I had no idea that's what she was doing.

Not only that she started chipping away at the tooth behind it because there was some decay. She chipped so much off that when the numbing shot wore of I wanted to die. The pain was unbearable. I called the office later & got transferred to their Dr. on call. The service told me they don't have a on call Dr. for that office. It was a Friday & they weren't back until Monday. I wake up with a very bad infection that was all over my gums. I can honestly say I've never felt pain like that. So I continue to try to find a Dr. on call for them but there just wasn't anybody.

On top of that I got an abscess. Monday I got a hold of the office & the office manager was so rude to me. She said I should of ask for antibiotics. This is just the half of it. I just want people to LOOK OUT if you go to ASPEN & the first thing they want to do is pull teeth instead of putting in effort to save your teeth. Look out for them trying to add a bunch of services you do not need too! I look awful. I'm constantly in pain & I wouldn't think of smiling. I don't have insurance like I said so I can't even go to another dentist to get fixed the mess they left me with.. I wouldn't wish this on anybody & like I said that's only half of it but it would be a book if I continued.. I haven't slept but a few hours between the pain & worrying about how I can fix this.

I want to share the horrible experience about clinic visit Aspen Dental to the address: 1401 North Veterans Parkway, Bloomington, IL 61704. We with the husband made six crowns in this clinic; three crowns were made by my husband and three crowns were made by me. After the first installations of my three crowns, I noticed that on one of them during a touch tongue, I feel a sharp edge on a back wall of a crown and an interval between a crown and the ground-off tooth. In couple of days I arrived to office of clinic and told about it to the attending physician Dr. **.

The doctor checked the tooth and told that will remake a crown. At a touch of the metal tool the big gap was felt at once, and my ground-off tooth was very sensitive. Without anesthetic. They then created a new temporary crown, and scheduled the next visit. In the following visit, during installation of the new permanent crown (i.e. for the second time), I felt the same gap between a new crown and my tooth about what I reported to the doctor. The doctor began to assure me that everything is all right, and has to be, it is simply unusual form of a crown. I believed the doctor about possibility of an unusual form, and agreed to put on cement. On the same day, having stayed some time of the house, I understood that I have again the same problem. Tongue began to feel a gap between a crown and the ground-off tooth. This gap didn't disappear and when eating, the food is being caught between a crown and tooth.

On the same day we went to office of clinic and told about the same problem. The doctor told that I intentionally do something with crowns as for the first time, and in the second, and blamed me for the issue. After such answer I still had very unpleasant impression about visit. According to the doctor: I intended to do something with crowns and cause such problem which is a downright LIE. We paid and we just wanted to get the service we paid for. Despite everything, the doctor checked tooth and made sure of gap was present, and also agreed to remake the crown for the third time and appointed the next visit!!

While at the house with my husband made a photo of my crowns from the inside of teeth using a high definition camera Nikon 3200, to see a problem which I constantly feel. We did this so I could help explain what I was experiencing as I do not speak good English. When reviewing the images we noticed that there was one more gap with one of the other crowns they installed. The same issue. And the dentist said that everything looked good.

We took the images printed on photo paper to the next appointment. The husband showed photos that the doctor so she could see my problem on back walls of crowns, and I told her that it is necessary to remake two crowns as on both there are gaps. The doctor having seen a picture told us that after clients start taking the picture as proof of nonprofessional work… she doesn't wish to deal with us more (in a rude yelling voice). Additionally stopped working with us and told us to leave the practice.

After that we still talked to the administrator for that clinic and we asked for the clinic to provide us other expert and remake these two crowns. We told them that we don't agree with such unprofessionalism. We explained that we would now have to find a new dentist and have them fix the crowns. And we don't know when the money will be refunded to us. The secretary answered that they will return money to insurance company and will send the check to us on mail, but according to her, it will take months. I asked, “How many money is required on correction of your mistakes in other clinic" on what answered me, “we don't know.” T.E. actually to me was cut by three teeth under crowns, and established three crowns one of which is established successfully, and others two with gaps between crowns and the ground-off teeth. These gaps cause caries (cavities) further because when eating, the food there is pushed under the crown.

The issues here now are finding a dentist who will agree to remake these crowns, how long it will take, and we will have to pay a second time for the money that we have already paid Aspen Dental to get these crowns in the first place. What is even worse is that while we were in the office talking calmly with the administrator, the female dentist called the police on us. On Paying Clients. We paid them $6,509.00 for services and yet we got this kind of treatment and we got extremely poor results. Poor service, ridiculed, and the police called on us. We had conversations with the corporate offices of this clinic, trying to discuss with them options of getting what we paid for. All attempts at working with Aspen Dental have failed. As evidence to this, we have the HD close up images of these damaged crown installations and copies of all bills, payments and documentation.

I went to the New Hartford NY office to check a front tooth. It was discolored. After the (free) exam, I was told it was a cavity and I needed $3000 of work. The cavity would cost $499. They offered me financing and to my bankrupt amazement, I qualified for $3500 of work. When I said I only want the cavity in front taken care of, I was indirectly told all or nothing. I now owe $2826 and they say I need $500 more of cleaning and checkups... They GAVE me a new electric toothbrush. I said I have the same one at home. I was told it's part of the program. I later saw it on the bill for $180 and they sell them in the office for a discount of $129. Two other people I talked with also need $3000 of work. It's the magic amount.

I had a HOLE in my tooth, and went to Aspen Dental. I was given X-rays which was part of their FREE part as a NEW patient. After several X-Rays taken, I was put into another room, then the Dentist came in and said it would cost "LOTS" of money to SAVE MY TOOTH!! I had no other choice than to pull the tooth because of the expense. The Dentist had problems numbing the area, so the second time he stuck the needle in the TOP of my mouth, I almost left the chair!!! The pain was incredible!! Later, he returned and yanked and pulled until my tooth came out. They stuck cotton in my mouth and said NOT to eat, or drink anything or smoke etc.

Later that night, the pain was unbearable so my Husband called the office to report I was in SERIOUS PAIN... They told him to give me 2 Ibuprofen and NOTHING else. Needless to say, I was up all night. Then I called the office myself telling them I couldn't bear the pain NO MORE!!I went back to the office, this time seeing a different Dentist, and they did a root canal due to a dry socket. The HOLE in my mouth took 2 weeks to heal. YES, I said HOLE from one tooth!! Oh and I had a credit program with them as well... the expense was out of this world!!! Thanks Aspen for now having me scared to death to go back to the Dentist!!!!!

I went to a Aspen Dental here in Oklahoma City after I saw one of their commercials. I took, it seemed like 900 X-Rays!!! You go in a room, somebody else comes in for your "exam" and counts off while looking at your teeth to someone else in the room. Then the dentist comes in and proceeds to tell you you're about 2 steps from eating baby food, Your teeth are such a mess and you need so many thousands of dollars worth of work, 3 or 4 cavities, etc. Total ripoff. Long story short, went to local dentist; was told had one cavity. Charged me $105.00 and cleaned teeth for $78.00 and I was done. Would NOT recommend Aspen to homeless cat.

I made the HUGE mistake of taking my dental business to Aspen Dental, West Melbourne FL, last year 06/2013. The dentist was completely incompetent, in my opinion, and I have had many, dental procedures in my life. In June of 2013, I went to Aspen Dental in West Melbourne FL. I needed to have 6 teeth pulled and a partial denture made and installed. I went to multiple appointments, for impressions, and finally when the time came to have the extractions, the dentist was only able to pull 1 tooth and informed me I would have to go to a oral surgeon to have the extractions completed. This I could understand.

I returned approx. 2 weeks later to have a TEMPORARY partial denture installed, that according to the dentist I would have to wear for 6 months, then they would make me a permanent partial denture. I never returned to Aspen Dental to have the permanent partial done. I was completely turned off by their practices and lack of planning for my procedures. I went to a new dentist this year to have my permanent denture constructed. When the new dentist tried to file a claim with my insurance, it was denied, based on the fact that they had paid Aspen Dental for a permanent partial denture, the year before.

I NEVER received a permanent denture from Aspen Dental. I went to Aspen Dental in person to address this issue, per instructions from my insurance company. This office no longer employs the dentist, or office manager that were there when I had my work done. I spoke with the new office manager. She informed me that she would be happy to speak with the district manager about my situation on the following Tuesday, and get back with me. I waited until Tuesday afternoon and contacted her again. She inquired as to whether the partial I had received from them had any metal in it. I explained that it did NOT and that there is absolutely no doubt that this piece is a TEMPORARY partial denture.

The office manager attempted to tell me that when billed to the insurance company, the same codes for a temporary and permanent partial are used, and that the billing was accurate. I had to enlist the help of my insurance company to fight the battle for me. The agent from my dental insurance called the office manager and finally corrected her on the codes for temporary vs. permanent. The office manager finally agreed that they had billed incorrectly and agreed to send a retraction (on the ins. company recorded line). After a week of no action from the office manager at Aspen, I called corporate headquarters to address the issue. I have waited over a week since I called the HQ of Aspen Dental, for ANY sort of response, and I have heard NOTHING.

My insurance company has had to refer the matter to the fraud department of the company to try to resolve the issue. When informed that this was happening, the office manager of Aspen Dental, West Melbourne FL, agreed to have a retraction in their office the same day. A week later, they still have not complied. I had one of the worst dental experiences of my life at Aspen Dental West Melbourne FL, and I thought it was over when I stopped going to this company, but a year later, I am still paying for the mistake of giving Aspen Dental my business. They REFUSE to correct a situation they have already admitted they were wrong in, and will not contact me back regarding my complaint to the headquarters. This is a very deceitful company and they will not help you in any way if they make a mistake!!

I need dental extractions and fitting of a denture. I was attracted to Aspen Dental because of the advertisement for rapid turnaround and made an appointment for the initial consultation. In the end, I decided not to pursue treatment at Aspen Dental because of their financial terms, and after reading a series of online complaints, I feel lucky I came to that decision. My initial appointment was scheduled at the Keene, NH office on a Monday morning. The wait time was short, but during the wait my wife and I observed two patients walk in with significant denture-related issues. The first was a woman who was complaining of pain, ulcerated sores, and an ill-fitting immediate denture.

She was one week post-extractions, irate, wanted her money back, and cautioned us to check the internet for complaints about Aspen Dental. The second was a man who was complaining about continued significant issues with the fit of his dentures. I then met with the dentist and dental assistant who explained the process of tooth extraction and denture fitting, a process expected to take approximately six months. Both the dentist and dental assistant were professional and took the time to address my questions. Next I met with the office manager who explained the grades of denture and payment plans available. Fifty percent of the total cost was payable upon initiation of treatment and 50% upon fitting of the immediate denture. Cost included all follow-up. I felt uncomfortable about paying in full, long before fitting of the permanent denture, and asked if the final payment could be postponed until completion of the denture process.

I was told that postponement of final payment was not possible, but that the dentures were fully guaranteed. Given the two patients I observed who were very dissatisfied, I was not comfortable making the appointment for initiation of treatment and left the office. However, I did feel comfortable with the professional staff and a few days later decided to make another appointment. I decided I would not undergo any procedures or pursue further treatment if I could not negotiate withholding final payment until the denture process was completed. Prior to undergoing any procedures, I asked to meet with the office manager. Again I was told that the payment plan could not be changed. No negotiation was possible. I feel this policy is unreasonable and chose not to pursue treatment. I caution others not to pay 100% before completion of treatment and not to be misled by TV advertising.

I went to Aspen to get dentures. When they get you in there they tell you what the treatment plan is and give you a total price. They require you to pay them before they do any work. I paid them $4200 for top dentures and a bottom partial and needed 1 tooth pulled. After getting my denture and what they called a healing partial both of them did not fit at all. I went back at least 15 times while they tried to fix them so I could wear them. They were trying to get me to take a refund but I wanted them to get them to work for me. They did get the top to fit in my mouth but it would not stay in, were loose and hurt. The bottom partial was a joke. I could never wear it.

Finally after at least 15 visits I had enough and decided to take the refund. They wanted to give me only $2200. I went to the office to talk with them and they agreed to give me a $2500. So it cost me $900 to have a tooth pulled. These places need to be shut down. Corporate dentistry rip-offs stealing money from hard working people.

Where do I begin? First time going in, I paid over $3000 in dental work that said "had to be done." They also scammed me in to buying a $200 Rotadent electric toothbrush. About two months after that, I get a call from their admin department saying they would like to give me a free teeth whitening session. I thought it was kind of odd, but I went in anyway. Who didn't want FREE whitening!? About four weeks later I received a bill for $400 for the whitening. I called the admin (who at this time was already replaced with another admin) and she looked through my account and said it looked like I had a $300 credit and that's why they offered me the whitening.

I calmly told them that I would have much rather had the credit applied towards my bridge setting than teeth whitening. They said there wasn't anything they could do since the credit was already applied. I've also had the same tooth worked on THREE ** times because my filling kept falling out. EVERY TIME I go in, there are new faces which tells me they can't keep anyone employed. I DO NOT EVER RECOMMEND ASPEN DENTAL. EVER EVER EVER! Go to a smaller practice, a dentist that care about YOU rather than making quotas.

I was going to a Community Health Center for my dental care where the dentists their work pretty much pro-bono and this in addition to their regular practice,. Anyway, I signed up for their sliding fee scaling and I was having work done, but had stop temporarily due to re-entering the workforce. I thought I go to Aspen Dental to get a second opinion and was excited by the free consultation.

Never Again!!! The dentist berated me, she told that I had destroyed my teeth and that a couple of molars would need root canals. The hygienist was very condescending. Feeling terrible, I sat with one of their account reps for the Care Credit. I would either need. 7,000 or 13,000 dollars worth of work done depending what treatment plan I chose. Not having any children, my credit is the closet thing I have to a baby and wasn't about to throw it out with the bath water even if my chances of being approved were pretty good. I thought better of it and deciding to stick the community health center and not just for financial reasons. The dentists there, unlike at ASPEN or is it Asp (jk), look to fix the problem not humiliate you.

Word to the wise, just because a dentist is for profit doesn't mean they're better than the dentist at the health center. In fact, my dentist went to the University of Detroit Mercy which has very high acceptance standards. Aspen Dental, like a lot of businesses, don't care about your financial health and it is nothing for them to submit an application for approval. This might read as a bit cynical, but ask yourself is buying the store version of Listerine any different than buying the brand name? Explore your options.

I was online looking for a local dentist because I was needing a cleaning. I was going to go to the dentist that I used to pull my top wisdom teeth but was attracted to price Aspen Dental was going to clean my teeth for. Let me just put this simple, RUN, RUN, RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION!!! DO NOT GET SUCKED IN WITH THE REASONABLE PRICES!!! So I call, make an appointment for an exam and cleaning, which was set for a Monday at 4pm. I get there 15min early and fill out all my paper work. I was not in the waiting room long... maybe 10min. Get back there and they do a TON of x-rays. I thought ok, this is fine and thought that they are just wanting to do a thorough exam. Well, I get done with the x-rays, I get taken to another room. This was the exam room.

The dental hygienist came in and poked at my gums calling out numbers, some she did twice. Then the dr came in and looked at my teeth and asked if I had any trouble, I said no, nothing has been bothering me, just in for a cleaning. I have not had a cleaning in a few years, but have been to the dentist for getting a filling fixed that fell out and getting my top wisdom teeth pulled, with NO problems whatsoever! So back to Aspen Dental, so the dr goes on and says that my teeth are in very bad shape and that I will need a root canal and two fillings that need to be fixed. She said that they do not do cleanings on the same day as the exam, even though the lady I made the appointment with said they do that. And I needed to address the other dental work before I get a cleaning and I need to set up an appointment for that work and go over pricing and financing with the office manager.

I am one that just goes to running my mouth before I think about it, but this time, I remained calm. I got up while the doctor was there writing, I told her she better just stop writing that I was leaving and was not coming back that this was all bs and a big scam, and I left. BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE!!!! I called the doctor I used for my wisdom teeth and made an appointment the very next day for that Thursday. They charged 100.00 for an exam and cleaning, but it is a local and privately owned practice. I get there, he cleans my teeth, says they had some plaque but not a whole lot since I brush pretty good and keep my oral hygiene up. He does the exam and says everything is perfect, not a THING is wrong! I DO NOT need a root canal and I have NO cavities.

I felt something was off at Aspen Dental the whole entire time I was there, I was never comfortable. They pressure you to get dental work that is unnecessary and expensive just for the money. PLEASE, do not go here!! Just pay the money at a local practice where the dentist cares more about YOU then your money! My mouth would be a complete mess if I would have let Aspen Dental touch my mouth any more than they did. Right now I am just thankful I listened to my gut and left. There are really good dentist that care about you that have payment plans if that is your issue. I URGE you to call around and find a private practice that is local and not a chain.

Why would I pay for show??? They should tell you these things. Now they are working on a crown for the missing teeth and destroyed two of my good ones to put the crown in.

So I plan on calling to find out why they did just put two pegs in place of the ones they took out versus destroying three more to add to it??? It is costing me over $4100 for what they are doing, I would think that they would have went with the peg teeth and not ruin my good ones that I had. November of 2013, I had all my teeth extracted by Aspen Dental's traveling Oral Surgeon at the Kentwood, MI location near Grand Rapids. I paid almost $6000 out of pocket after my insurance paid their amount. I was told several times & so was my husband that I would have "Healing" dentures for 6 months until my mouth healed correctly & then I would get a new pair of dentures that fit my mouth better.

The "Healing" dentures have been a NIGHTMARE! They are huge & even with adhesive they pop out or fall out. I cannot eat with them, they cause sores in my mouth & are so thick I gag constantly. I called to complain once again & make an another adjustment appointment & am now being told I must pay another $900 to get my dentures that fit in 6 months. This is Fraud!

I made an appointment with Aspen Dental in Allentown, PA because I wanted to get a regular cleaning. I was informed that on first visit I would receive x-rays then be schedule for the cleaning: however, I was seen by three people each confirming my need for a deep cleaning because of gum disease, which by the way I have no sign or symptom of gum disease. I proceeded to the checkout, I asked about the cost, and the receptionist went straight into the reason and benefits of the deep cleaning then shows me a toothbrush over a $100 that would be included in the price of the cleaning, plus $109 for a follow up consultation. She then claimed to give me 20% percent discount on the price, which left me with a total of $1,673.40. She asked me if I wanted to pay ahead with a credit card. I left the office dissatisfied thinking who would pay that kind of money on services not yet received, and gum disease, really? I beg to differ. I'll get a second opinion.

Well, I had oral surgery, went fine. When it came to my dentures well they charged me $2,500 and my insurance company about the same. The dentures were never right. They are too big for my mouth. Even with the glue they fall out after a couple bites of food. I can't eat. They make me look terrible. They wanted to charge me for another set of teeth by I think almost $5000. They should be right. I've made another appt with another dentist. Hopefully they can fix their problem. They should of least gave me something back. I would never recommend their services.

They then advised me that they didn't accept my insurance, this was after the phone interview in the first phone call. This app. was just to try and reline my dentures. They then told me that it would cost me 300.00 for this service, payable upon completion. Due to me having to pay for transportation, this unbelievable appointment, cost me 40$ out of my pocket. I went to Aspen Dental in Speedway, Indiana after seeing the commercials for "comfort" dentures, flexible payment plans, etc. I have good dental insurance. After spending >$1,000, wasting a lot of time, I ended up with a monstrous partial denture that I can't even wear. They tried to convince me that the area where my gum had receded to expose part of my post from two old root canals/crowns were actually cavities needing fillings. The fillings they placed on my gum line of course fell out in a week or two. Eventually, when I had paid >$1,000 and I still wanted some stains removed from my front teeth which I had asked about when I first came in two months before, they said I had to pay an additional $600.00 upfront if I wanted that done. No offer of payment plans or working with me as they advertise. After that rude treatment, I decided I wasn't going give them anymore of my money for shoddy work or allow them to bill Anthem Blue Cross.

I needed new bottom dentures so my husband decided to buy them for my Christmas present last year (2012). We made an appointment with Aspen Dental who told us that I needed both upper and lower dentures even though the upper dentures was only a year old. Because of the cost involved, the Office Manager talked my husband into applying for a credit card with Care Credit. The dentures were to be ready by Thanksgiving.

Needless to say that did not happen. After numerous office visits and entering into the Christmas season, my dentures still did not fit. I had numerous sores, some of the teeth were longer than others and my mouth was so sore that I could not eat. After every adjustment the dentist would assure me that if the fit was not correct just call the office and I would be seen immediately. Of course, that didn't happen. You would call and request the dentist see you immediately and the receptionist would remind us that others were waiting and I would have to wait my turn.

I finally got tired of the back and forth and filed a complaint demanding new dentures or our money back. The office manager called and said that we would not be charged and that I should go elsewhere for new dentures which I did. We heard nothing from Aspen Dental or Care Credit and assumed that the monies we had already paid settled our account. And we didn't owe any money as stated by the Office Manager until yesterday when we received a letter from Monarch Recovery Management (a collection company) stating that we owed the amount of $525.33. Now we have to fight with the collection company about a debt that we do not owe. This Office is the worst place I have ever been to in my life. I would not recommend this dental office to anyone.

I moved to Troy, Ohio and wanted a simple cleaning done... Instead of going to my regular dentist, I thought I would just go to aspen dental. I called and made an appt. I got in quickly but only for a lot of x-rays. Then after that, the dentist came in to check my teeth. She told me I needed a deep cleaning due to gum disease which I have never had trouble with. After that scare, I sat there a bit scared while a big colored lady made my appt for 2 weeks later. Needless to say, it took an hour and a half just for that. I came back in 2 weeks and the front desk girl who was very inexperienced at her job was fumbling my chart and I seen some financial numbers on my chart and she hustled to close it.

She told me I would sign my financial agreement after my appt for the deep cleaning. I pursued to ask her how much it would be total out of pocket. The big colored lady said it would be 750 bucks. I said yea right, I will go home to my dentist for a second opinion. I went to my dentist and needless to say, I have no sign of gum disease at all. So thanks to Aspen Dental. You had me a bit worried but now I know you're a scam artist. I hope people realize to always get a second opinion when it comes to Aspen Dental in Troy, Ohio.

I took my son for an appointment, he needed wisdom teeth removed. Upon getting there, the staff greeting us were polite. We waited for quite sometime before we got in to his appointment. After all was said and done, I was informed that this was only a consultation, and that he would need another appointment because the dentist only come there on certain days. That meant another road trip for us. So when we were checking out, a young lady took me back in a consultation office and explained the procedure to me and my son. Then, I had to pay them up front. She explained to me that this is the way they do it there. So I did. She had shown me an estimate on paper, which I agreed to and signed. Seeing what was going to be the total bill, I figured the $106 out of my pocket wasn't bad. She also stated that that wasn't a bad amount to pay and we had really good insurance. I then had asked her if there was going to be any more out of pocket expenses after everything was done and she said no.

So, a couple months after my son's procedure, we get a bill for double the amount of the first payment. I called them several times before I was able to talk to someone that was supposed to be in charge. They told me that the amount I first paid was only an "estimate" and could incur further charges. I told her that no one ever said there was even a "possibility" of further charges. She then said in a snotty manner, "Well, you signed the paper, you should have read it closer". That being said, I asked to speak to a manager but was told that they were not in.

In the weeks following, I had made several other calls to speak to someone in charge but was always told no one was there to help me. Not getting anywhere, and not wanting to be taken to collection, we started paying on the bill. We were then contacted by Aspen to set up a payment plan, which we did not, because they wanted more than we could afford. We have been sending money when we can, but apparently it's not enough, because we have now been contacted by a collection agency. So now, I am in the midst of disputing the bill through Aspen's collection agency. I am going to inform the collection agency that they may want to look at Aspen's record of misrepresenting their billing practices before they represent them further. I've heard other stories of Aspen charging more than what was quoted and that's just not right!

I switched jobs and therefore insurance so I was assigned to Aspen Dental. I didn't receive a cleaning until my 3rd appointment. They said they couldn't do a cleaning until I have a "deep cleaning" because my gums were unhealthy (I've never heard that from a dentist before). The appointments were a joke, I would wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour each time I went. They would bill my insurance and my HSA account before my appointment and would also bill for items I didn't need like $27 cavity prone tooth paste, I haven't had a cavity in 15 years.

Once in the room the dental assistant leaves you for 30-45 minutes. I was there three times and met the dentist once for maybe one minute. I was overcharged but I have to be honest they corrected that mistake very quickly once I brought it to their attention. They did want to just keep the money to apply it to my NEXT year's cleaning but I declined. I contacted Aetna and asked for any other dentist within a 100-mile radius (yes, 100-mile radius, I was desperate). I now have a new dentist and have my appointment in February, since my insurance only does a certain type of X-ray every three years I was told by this family dentist I need to have Aspen either mail or email my X-rays over.

Aspen declined and said I must come in to get them. I am at work before they open and I'm still at work when they close. I just moved an hour away from that office so now Aspen Dental is giving me a choice, stay with them or take more time off work to get my X-rays. They aren't making things easy but I'm taking time off work to get those X-rays and that will be the last they see of me.

I was going to purchase the FamilyBlue Dental Discount card from CVS in Panama City, Florida. Instead, I picked up a brochure to do some research on the plan. My research revealed that Aspen Dental is the only dental services provider in our area that accepts this "discount" plan, and the closest practice to us is almost two hours away! I also read the complaints here and with the BBB regarding Aspen Dental. Needless to say, I will NOT have anything to do with Aspen Dental or the discount card. I called our local CVS, spoke with the store manager and informed her of my findings. I asked that they remove these cards from the store, due to it being very misleading... plus the fact that Aspen Dental (2 hours away) has such a bad reputation. They will look into removing the cards.

I have a question of those going to Aspen Dental: Why wouldn't you go to another dentist for a second opinion before being overcharged out the yazoo for services? If something doesn't feel right when you sit in that chair, and you feel you're getting the run-around, LEAVE!! Do your research with other dentists, call them and ask questions to include specific pricing for procedures. Also: If you pay for X-rays at a dental office, you can get a copy of those X-rays to take with you to another dentist / oral surgeon, etc. It's worth making some phone calls to save money and hassle. But, it's worth so much more to feel comfortable with the one providing the services.

I just got my dental insurance and was looking for a new dentist and when I finally went, they told me I had a few 3-4 mm pockets that they wanted to deep clean and get them under 3. I was fine with that, but they also told me what I already knew. They told me I had 2 small little holes that were the start of cavities and they wanted to do fillings. I don't understand why they would want to do fillings for them when my last dentist noticed them herself and she just said we would keep an eye on them. It doesn't seem like they are urgent. By the end of the visit, I was wondering why I had to dish out $86.00 when it’s supposed to be my insurance that pays for it. The only thing I should be paying is a co-pay. I also got a sheet saying that I am responsible for a deductible when I applied for my dental plan and it never said I had pay no deductible.

I have been a patient at this Aspen since 2012 (I believe). They were assigned to me by my dental insurance company. I recently had a couple of visits back in either late October or early November. It had been a while since I had been in due to my work and school schedules. My first appointment of the two, I had scheduled for a cleaning and exam since I was overdue. They took x-rays since they were due, then I got to see the hygienist. She did the normal exam stuff, including the poking and prodding to determine the depths of the gums. She did that TWICE saying that she just wanted to double check that she read the numbers correctly (needless to say, my mouth/gums were NOT happy after that).

She then proceeded to get the doc who did a 30 second glance in my mouth, told me I had a cavity, but because of the numbers of the pockets (largest one a 4, most of them 2-3) he wanted to wait to fill it. The hygienist then told me that she would not be doing the cleaning that I was scheduled for and told me I would have to talk to the financial counselor about payment options for a deep cleaning, antibiotics, and a mouthwash. But, I couldn't talk to him while I was there because he was at lunch, and he would call me. An hour after I left the office, I got the call from the financial guy who said that it would cost $3000 for the cleaning I needed, but because of my insurance would only be slightly less than $1500. I told him I would call back.

A couple weeks later, I scheduled another appointment for the cleaning I was supposed to have the visit before. The person who called me back was the financial guy and he asked how I was going to pay for the cleaning/treatment. I told him I was there just for a ROUTINE cleaning. He then told me that by law they cannot do a normal cleaning if they felt I needed a more intense cleaning because "they could get shut down." He went on to compare it to getting only bypass surgery, but needed a transplant. I told him I have had no other problems in the past with other dentists I have been to, but he persisted to tell me that they will not do the routine cleaning unless I got the $1400 cleaning first.

I asked for the number for the regional manager, but he told me that he did not have the number and that the manager would be out of the office until after Christmas. He took my phone number to have him contact me--I'm still waiting for that call. Needless to say, I walked out of the office VERY angry. I am in the process of finding a dentist that has the patient first and not their wallet first. Mind you, I checked my dental benefits and at most, if I were to get the treatment done at Aspen that they want, I should only be paying at most $600. I will NOT recommend this dental chain to anyone. In the meantime, the tooth with the cavity is increasingly becoming more painful.

Day one - Waited over 2 hours for my appointment just to sit in an X-ray chair with an employee telling me that "the other X-ray tech called in sick and they were swamped". She was not really sure how to use the machine. I waited in an exam chair for approx 30 minutes for a hygienist to come in for 5 min calling out numbers. I waited another 30 minutes for a dentist that came in for 3 minutes, then sent me to the business office manager who tried to sell me Sensodyne for $23, mouth wash for $25 and a $125 toothbrush. I found the paste and the wash online for a total of $18. I did not do research on the overpriced Oral-B toothbrush. I set my next appointment hoping it was a bad day.

Day two - Arrived 15 minutes early (prior to them opening) for my 8am appointment, which I confirmed online through an email two days prior. I waited patiently until 8:30 and I politely approached the front desk and asked if they needed to reschedule. They said no and I sat another 15 minutes when a lady in a business suit came up to me and said, "I'm sorry for the wait. I am from our corporate office and we had to break some bad news to our hygienist and she took it really bad and needed some time." I immediately asked to leave. At that point, they guaranteed that the next appointment would be on time. I was given a $45 credit on a pretreatment to the prophylaxis for the next visit. I reminded them that I had insurance and I believe it was covered. I was told at that point that the hygienist could not do the cleaning without the pretreatment. I agree because of the credit. I then asked about the items I was pressured into buying during my prior visit from the business office manager and confronted them with the pricing I found online.

Day three - I arrived 15 minutes early for my 3pm appointment and waited approximately 45 minutes. I was brought in to an examining cubicle where the hygienist spent roughly 8-10 minutes on the pretreatment. She then recommended a paste for $20 and said to me that she had two flavors and asked which one I preferred. I politely explained that I would look into the paste and come back if I felt it was necessary. She then sent me back to the front office. I asked about the cleaning and she told me it would be done next visit. The business office manager was busy so the front desk receptionist checked me out. I was asked for the $45 for the pretreatment service. I reminded her of our conversation during my last visit. We discussed a future appointment and set it for 8am. At this point I was not sure I want to continue business.

Day four - I receive an email to confirm my 10 am appointment. I did not confirm this email and called immediately and explained there was a mistake. The receptionist said they had to change it and I made it clear that that would not work for me. I then asked to have my X-rays ready by 3pm that day. She then asked again if I would be making my 10 am appointment and I firmly declined and explained that my appointment is at 8am not 10am. I went in and received my X-rays within seconds and I left. That evening at around 7pm, I received a phone call asking if I would be making my appointment the following day. I assured this caller that I will no longer be a patient of theirs and I would be calling my benefits coordinator to file a complaint as well as contacting my insurance carrier to ensure no improper billing.

During my visits at the Gainesville Aspen Dental locations, my observations were: A tasteless salesperson approach to the dental market; A focus on lower income patients and a long line for financing; A dentist preoccupied on a smart phone and not patient oriented; Front line staff/receptionist with a look of distress; Very unorganized personal speaking openly about inter-office issues; Unable to meet appointment time in a timely manner.

I had set up an appointment with Aspen Dental wanting a cleaning ($54). I was informed I couldn't have a cleaning without 1st having the 5 cavities filled that they saw in my x-rays. After letting them know that there was absolutely NO way I could afford to have those cavities filled even if I wanted to ($500+) couldn't I just please get my teeth cleaned? I was informed that it wouldn't be good dentistry if they didn't insist that I have this work done. I rebutted with would it be considered good dentistry you refusing to clean a patient's teeth because she cannot afford to have other more expensive dental procedures done at this time? They finally agreed after much discussion that I would be "allowed" and could set an appointment for later that week to come back and have my teeth cleaned.

When I returned for my cleaning within 5 min of sitting back in the chair the Dental Hygienist informed me I needed more than a "regular" cleaning and would have to speak with the Office Manager before she could continue. Never before in all the years I've been going to dentists have I ever been asked to get up from the dental chair to go see an Office Manager. The Office Manager proceeded to tell me before they continued, my $54 cleaning would now cost $228. I thought she was kidding and I was on Candid Camera - how absurd I thought. When I asked why my $54 cleaning was now suddenly $228, I was given the excuse the DA found I had the onset of periodontal disease and that requires a more thorough cleaning? I had expected as thorough of a cleaning as possible to begin with I didn't know I had to pay extra for a really "thorough" one!?

Why hadn't the dentist mentioned anything about my having periodontal disease when he examined my mouth just a few days prior? If you want your teeth to be "really" cleaned by Aspen Dental just know it will cost you royally. Besides the unnecessary stress they caused me by quoted me 1 fee and then charging more I also believe I was told I required services that I didn't!

11/21 2011, I went to Aspen Dental because I had a tooth that was killing me... I went to Aspen Dental as a walk in. They did X-rays and determined it was 2 teeth that were infected and needed to be pulled... that day. Well, I am prone to panic attacks so I asked them for something to give me for this and we made an appt for 2 hours later that day. I had a panic attack and had to go to the ER before the Aspen Dental appt. They looked at what I was going to have done. Gave me a shot of Ativan and a shot of strong antibiotics.

After that I went to Aspen Dental to have the teeth pulled. They pulled them painlessly... The next day they called to see how I was doing and I told them I was swollen and in a lot of pain. They said to come in so I did. Went to the counter and a woman looked at me and said "You need to go to the hospital" Turned out I had a severe case of facial cellulitis and was admitted and received intravenous antibiotics every 4 hours and morphine every couple of hours. I was in the hospital for 4 days.

I was reading my records today and I see where they say they removed cellulitis. They did not. I wasn't aware it could be removed. The Dr. at the hospital said I shouldn't have had my teeth pulled while infected... especially since I had gingivitis, the bacteria and the infection, the pulling of the teeth, cuts, etc bred the infection into cellulitis so to speak.. After that painful ordeal, I again 3 months later had to go back to Aspen Dental for another toothache. They said it needed to be pulled also. After being hospitalized with Facial Cellulitis, I wasn't going to take anymore chances and asked please for an antibiotic and pain meds until it got well enough to pull. They reluctantly gave me a prescription.

So my infection cleared up and I went back and I talked to them about Dentures... I only had 15 teeth. 4 were a bridge... They said I was a perfect candidate and I was sent off to see the financial lady... I was quoted $12,000 something and I cried and said I can't afford that and went home. My mother said she would help us with this. She knew how difficult it was to eat. We went for a consult. They had us look at plans... We choose the best of the best. We were quoted $8599.00 and we could possibly finance it thru their Care Credit card.

My mom and I had the card put in our name. They told me they would bill as if my teeth had to be surgically extracted. And they would credit me if that was not the case. So we set up appts. and I was scheduled for 6-25-2012... Again they pulled them painlessly. So I was on the road to a great smile. I had to have immediate dentures put on after they pulled my teeth. I had them in my mouth... still bleeding and they let me go to the bathroom where my sister who was in the waiting room saw me bumping into walls and bleeding. I was under the influence of Ativan, I was really out of it .

My sister came into the bathroom and I was crying and bleeding and my upper dentures had fallen out. I didn't even know how to put them back in... so that was my first knowledge of their incompetency as far as patient wellness. They sent me on my way with a script for Vicodin, a mouthwash and some other things I don't remember much and my family was in such shock that they don't remember what they told me too. I know I was to keep dentures in 48 hours... to prevent dry sockets and to promote good healing they said. These immediates did not fit at all. I clanked, I couldn't eat, etc.

So time went on... 6 months for my healing and they put soft liners in... tried to get my dentures to work so I could eat... I had to use so much dental adhesive it made me sick... I don't know why I didn't think sooner to ask about this with them... but something made me ask "Were my teeth surgically extracted?" She looked on my chart and said no, they were not. So I said I should have a credit then... 5 months after the extraction procedure. We had paid off Care Credit Aug 8th $8599.00 in full so if we would have known we had this credit, we wouldn't have had to pay so much... and we could have bought a new central air since ours had gone out.

I was furious and mentioned that I had googled Aspen Dental and found out there was a class action suit and I was going to see about joining it. This was unacceptable for them to keep $2754.00 from us. And if it wasn't given to Care Credit, who had it? The fiance lady sat me down and showed me what she had credited... I was talking to them about implants after seeing their ad and I was having so much trouble keeping my bottoms in place and my tops would fall down... and she was so excited for me. "Yes, those would be perfect for you"... and I said I have that credit, could it be applied to this procedure. "Oh sure," she said and went about putting my info in the computer and she had said my credit would take care of it all.

I said, "Uppers and lowers," she said yes and then the dentist walks in and she tells him, "Carole has decided to get implants," and he walked over to where my X-rays were and said, "The tops, there is not enough bone"... but he could do the bottoms. So we went for that. It was so painful that I cried all the way home... and the implants are still to this day giving me trouble. My permanent dentures don't stay in. Implants are painful when wearing bottom dentures. They said they could not do anything about the tops if they sanded them, I wouldn't have good suction... which I didn't anyway. The bottoms they said I need to get used to. I asked them, "Don't the bottoms look crooked" > No, they look great.

I also remember during this time of fittings and molds and waxes that I signed a paper.. and I was under the influence of Ativan for my panics and I didn't have my readers, I had their goggles on and I said I can't read it... And I said what is i .and She said, "This is only a form for you to sign that says you approve of the color"... Which now I see since I have my records that was a lie... It states plainly that I approved my dentures... I was led falsely on that. And so I know I can't go back there again for anything... On my last appt, they said I look good and sent me on my way with a dental brush and a bottle of mouth wash...and charged me 41.00 dollars for it. Even after the finance lady said we had a $230.00 credit from the implants and they would send a check. We never got that either.

I had developed a very ugly tongue and it burned and had a red stripe down the middle and white chalky sides. The tip of my tongue and the space between my lower lip and chin is numb... I believe when they put the implants in in such a wrong way, I have my X-rays. Implants are straight up and down except for one that is crooked. I have 5 implants all in my chin area, nothing in the back or sides. My tongue feels raw from the implants being right next to my tongue. I have my X-rays and would be happy to email them to you. I am not to this day able to eat chew or smile... and my life is so sad. And I feel like I wasn't given the proper care or procedures for my mouth.

I hope I am getting my point across how much I need help in getting my mouth fixed. I can't afford to make it right with another dentist and I have totally lost trust in Aspen Dental... and after all that I have read, I never want to go back there. I should have mentioned also that I gag all the time. and don't go out of the house much because I would need to wear my teeth... and with Fixodent use on the top, it's difficult to get them out fast enough. So my gags are long and loud and very embarrassing. Aspen Dental told me they can't sand anymore off, I won't have suction.

Very unhappy with the dentures, I started in Terre Haute, IN. Had the teeth pulled, and the dentures made. I went back several times for adjustments. I moved back to Vero Beach in Nov. 2012. Now we have an office in Vero Beach, I made an appointment as my gums were still being cut by the dentures. They gave me an adjustment. I went back today for a cleaning. I am supposed to get one a year for 7 years. I asked about relining the denture as they are very loose and was told my gums were too small and I would have to learn to live with the dentures the way they are or spend another $2500 for implants. I have already spent $5000 for the work they have done and do not plan on spending anymore at this office. I would not recommend Aspen Dental to anyone and I am sorry I started all this discomfort in the first place.

The people that work at Aspen Dental are very nice. However, if you really pay attention it is downright scary. John the manager has a line for everything, everything. When I first called and went there I had told him what my situation was and how much pain I was in and had been in for several weeks. He said to come on in they would take real good care of me. I told him I needed an oral surgeon to do a debridement. John said, “No problem we will get you all taken care of.”

When I got there, they had one dentist going as fast as she can from patient to patient. She did a debridement with stitches of which I found out later she was not a oral surgeon, and that is who should have done the procedure. They told me after that the oral surgeon only comes in once a month and the procedure needed to be done now. If there was any chance of healing. The worst thing is that I had the issue because my so called other dentist, whom I fired, had caused my tooth area so much trauma. I needed someone who really was qualified to fix the mess he had made. I needed more work done but. I was concerned about going back there. The icing on cake, to show how honest they are NOT.

I have a bunch of scrubs, all brand new because my career ended before it got started. I decided to ASK THE MANAGER about bringing them to the office for the girls to look through and buy if they liked them. Luckily, I only took 10 items and I put $10.00 each on them and told the gal just to put them in the lunchroom and whom ever bought some just put the money in an envelope, the honor system. I was out running errands and decided to go by and see how it went. I also was in need of an appointment for dental work. I have several things that need attention. But as nice as everyone is, something just doesn't feel right in that office. It leaves you with a very uncomfortable feeling. I talked to John the manager (car salesman) and he immediately said, 1st comment, nobody wanted them. I haven't even seen them forever! I asked him if he would get them for me.

I saw him walking around, asking different people and then here he comes with a very small stack and said here they had got pushed in a corner. There were only 3 items left. I asked him "So where is the envelope?" I had made one out with the price on it, and the fact that we were using the honor system. Guess I should have explained what that meant. John said "I didn't see any envelope." So I asked where's the money from the scrubs that were gone. He was so quick with his ANSWERS, I don't know where it is, was there supposed to be money, there is a lot of workers that go in and out of here (temps), maybe one of them stole it, I don't know, and he walked away.

So I'm supposed just right off the $70.00! He was so... John. I think the best word for Aspen Dental is SHADY from making the appointment, having work done, their idea of billing; it is not right. The insurance I bought, what a joke. They give you a bill with huge dollar amounts and then discount it with the great insurance they have. And your bill comes out to be what the regular price is at any other dentist. There is no real discounts. NO stars...

Let me preface this by saying my Dentist has moved to another state and I needed to find a new one. I visited Aspen Dental because I needed a filling. Many things about the visit were unacceptable and I will not be going back. This was my experience. I had an appointment for October 8th @ 11:00. It was a first visit, so I knew it would go a little long, but didn't anticipate being there for two and a half hours. I had dropped by a few days prior to the appointment to fill out the paperwork and avoid a long wait. There was only one dentist on duty. I was told the second dentist was on vacation. Upon being called in, I had x-rays and an oral exam. Then I was directed to the billing department to arrange payment for one filling. I have dental insurance which covers the cost of fillings, but was informed by the billing representative that my insurance only covers silver fillings and Aspen Dental uses a special while filling and my 'out of pocket' would be $147.80, which I was told I had to pay in full before any work could be done.

I paid that amount and after a rather long wait, the dentist did the filling and sent me on my way. Three days later, my tooth was still paining, only now it was even more painful. I cannot put any pressure on it at all. Can't bite down on it without feeling sharp pain. I went back to the dentist and he told me the nerve was acting up and would need time to calm down. He told me to give it a few weeks and then come back and see him. I have never had this problem after a filling before and have never heard of having to be in pain for several weeks after a filling. The other problem is with the payment. I recently received a statement from my Insurance company that says my payment should have been $71.80 as opposed to the $147.80 I was charged on the initial visit.

Plus, they charged my insurance for the oral exam and the x-rays, even though it is stated in big, bold letters on the front of the building that for the first visit, the oral exam and x-rays are free of charge. I went back to the billing rep and expressed my concerns. She told me that the initial amount they charged me was an estimate and they would refund the difference but it would take a couple of weeks, even though I had the paperwork showing their error. I asked her why they charged my Insurance company for the first visit oral exam and x-rays in addition to the cost for the filling, and she said the free oral exam and x-rays is only for people who don't have insurance. I asked her why isn't that advertised and she said it was in the 'fine print'.

I saw that nowhere in anything I was given via paperwork and was not informed orally about this. I'm really very disappointed with my experience, and now I have to go to another dentist and start over because I am still having a lot of pain in the tooth that I got filled at Aspen Dental. This means with a new dentist, my insurance will be charged for another initial visit plus x-rays, and more work done on the tooth. Just very unacceptable.

On 9/27/13, made first visit to Aspen Dental in Saint Lucie West, Florida. Badly Needed full lower denture because of problems eating. As advertised exam and X-ray was free. Dentist was fine and gave some suggestions on what I could do. After exam was sent to see the financial guy to work up some figures. Denture alone was $1847. Denture along with 2 mini implants was quoted at $3253. The denture in question came with a 7-year warranty and I was told that it was made of almost indestructible material. I was seriously considering the $1847 denture without the implants when I incidentally asked the financial guy If they could sell me a tube of high fluoride (1.1%) toothpaste. My wife asked, "How much," and the answer was $27.00 (4 oz tube).

High fluoride toothpaste is a prescription item only available at dentist offices and is expensive but the answer we received was surprising. I asked the financial guy how much they paid for the toothpaste and he said he did not know. I really don't know what Aspen pays for this toothpaste but I do know that they lost an $1847 sale because of mark-up greed. Needless to say, I chose not to become an Aspen customer. Whoever owns this particular Aspen franchise (each unit is individually owned) should want to know about my experience. Thank you, toothless in Port Saint Lucie.

Receptionist behind the desk states, "Hey I know that guy" referring to one of the paramedics. I have to ask: "Does this happen here often?" No she knows him from outside of work. Further questioning to the Dental Assistant reveals this is only the 2nd time...in two years. Office has been open for two years. Further she states their problems were not due to a procedure being performed on that patient.

Next, same Dental Assistant x-rays me. One area she messed up on twice resulting in 3 x-rays of same area of mouth. I am a proponent of nuclear energy and don't think radiation is as harmful as everyone believes but??? Finally same assistant can't transfer my x-rays to the station where the Dental Hygienist and myself are. Repeatedly during the attempts all in fluster not knowing why this was happening.

After 1/2 hour sitting in the chair I decide to call it and leave. Run into Hygienist stating they have been transferred now. Ultimately learned they had to call their IT team to resolve it. At this point spoke with the Manager (yes odd that this position exists here but it’s how they operate) who explained the above reasons as stated and they had two accounts for me that IT had to resolve. I agreed to continue with the visit. End result is they diagnosed I have early stage periodontal disease and require root planing in multiple areas.

I had to switch dentists due to insurance so took their treatment plan and periodontal charting/x-rays back to my old dentist for second opinion. No. They are too aggressive in their treatment and diagnosis per him. No periodontal disease. Root planing not needed. Thorough cleaning monitoring in the future recommended. Today, now I have called the manager to ask to have my treatment plan modified. He returns the call and agrees and I will proceed (am I stupid?). Does not and am off to find another dentist.

I was drawn to Aspen here in Lincoln, NE because of their "free" X-rays and exam, and ended up paying for products I wasn't prepared to pay for, nor was I told of the price. I went in for my exam and the dentist spent 10 min. with me, and did not even discuss with me what needed to be done. After the hygienist "suggested" (meaning told me in so many words that my teeth were so bad I had to have these products or risk further damage) their fluoride rinse and desensitizing paste, all while not telling me the cost. My tooth that I was having problems with was still not taken care of, but I found out the dentist wanted to do a crown, from the office manager.

So, I did my research and decided that I wanted a second opinion. Called the office manager back to cancel my appointments, and get a refund on the Care Credit card (which is their solution for those of us who can't afford insurance. My balance after her "treatment plan was over $3000), and waited a week to hear from her. In the meantime, I went in for a cleaning and the hygienist once again "suggested" their "special" Rotadent toothbrush and fluoride rinse, once again not telling me the price. Tried a few months later to get a hold of her to request a refund on these products, and was told that they couldn't refund them because they had been used.

So, I called Patient Satisfaction, threatened to call the Better Business Bureau, and finally they said they will refund everything. I have read so many bad reviews on this company, and there are over 100 complaints against them on the BBB page for Nebraska, that I want to warn everyone not to go here. And, if you do, be prepared to say no, no, no! This company is only worried about making as much money as they can and not about the health of your teeth or your pocket book. The hygienist even told me to take their satisfaction survey so they could get a bonus. Do Not Go Here!!!!

They are open until 8:00pm some evenings, and also some Saturdays. My experience as far as the work they do was satisfactory. My biggest complaint is that they have not reimbursed an overcharge of $160.00 that was made in May.

lso, they are high pressure salespeople. They don't ask if you would like to purchase their high end Rotadent Waterpik. They just try to hand it to you hoping that you don't have the backbone to say "no thank you", which I fortunately did. They also try to force "scaling", which in my case was not necessary. I did purchase prescription mouthwash, which I am not sure I needed. Also, they wanted to replace an existing crown after a root canal that turned out to be perfectly fine. If you use this business, take your backbone and ability to say "no" when they try to push unnecessary products/services on you.

Courtney is right on top of her duties at the front desk and she needs more help. The office manager, Karen, leaves a lot to be desired. She is rude, doesn't return phone calls, or follow through with the business at hand. I think Karen has too much responsibility that she can't handle and get her work done. Karen is so rude to her staff I hear that is why Courtney has no help, because no one will stay and work with Karen. I tried to apply for a job then and had trouble with internet, left several messages for Karen, and she never returned one.

I had already had my interview with Dr. ** and she wanted me to be a part of the team. Karen wanted me in the front and Dr. ** wanted me in the back. I have the experience for both places. Dr. ** asked me to join the team the first time she met me as a patient. You should really talk to your staff; you might be surprised in what you learn. I was a patient and I can give you this. You really need a new office manager - one that staff will respect enough to work there so they won't be short at the front end, and then the customer service can excel, and the office manager can take care of the business. I had to call the NY office to get my account taken care of because Karen would never call me back. And she didn't do the billing as it was agreed upon when I came in with my insurance. And I was getting bills from Aspen when it all should have been taken care of back in January. I'm sorry I could keep going; I'm just so disgusted with Karen's behavior since January. If she has done this to me, how many others are there?

I had called and made an appointment to get the dentures that are in my mouth already, a temporary reline. Three times I explained to the female on the other end what I wanted done. Three times she said she understood. I was called the night before the appointment to inform me that a $25 charge would be required tomorrow at my appointment. Today, at 8 o'clock, I arrived for my appointment. I was in the office at 7:50 am; three other people came in and signed in after me. I paid the $55 charge that was required, and after the other three patients were seen.

I went in. I was going to get X-rayed; why, I don't know. The first thing she asked me was what tooth hurt. Can you believe it? What tooth hurt? I should have left. But I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I informed her that I have dentures and no tooth pain; I have no teeth. She moved me over to another X-ray machine and said, "Well, we will use this one then." I asked, "Then, does the charge change?" "No," she said.

You wonder why we get pissed at businesses! So she took the X-ray after I was told to remove my dentures. I went to a dentist chair in another room. About three minutes later, the dentist came in. Now, I have to stop. Does anyone really know if that X-ray is really theirs? No. From the time the X-ray was taken, it could not have been 5 minutes.

I have never in my life had a set of panoramic X-rays done in 5 minutes. So he told me in his best talk down to the patient manner, what he recommended for new dentures. Remember the girl I talked to a week earlier and three times I explained first that it was just a temporary reline on temporary dentures. I again explained that I was not going to get permanent dentures today, just temp reline on these. He said sure, he understood and thanked me for coming in to his office to get the work done. He left, he came back a few minutes later with a lady that would explain the cost of the procedures he recommended and the reline cost.

Again, I expressed that I was not getting anything done today except the temporary reline. She agreed and continued to process the cost of the procedures the dentist recommended. She finished up with the paperwork. The cost of a temporary reline is $520. I asked if they were all deaf, all I wanted was a temporary reline on these dentures. I only paid $400 for the dentures.

If I am to get the procedures done on my mouth the dentist recommended, why would I spend $520 to reline my temporary dentures? I picked up the paperwork and left. I called the wife when I got out to my car and explained what had just happened and I realized that these people were advertising free X-rays for new patients when my wife had her dental work done which I took advantage of, I thought, to find out later that they tried to bill my health insurance and my dental insurance for the free offer. What a fool I was for going back!

Will I have them do my permanent dentures? Hell, no! I will go back to Affordable Dentures where this experience of Americanized customer service started. All dentists are rip-offs but they all realize that we need dental work. Now how can they screw the customer the quickest way possible? I will get the work done, but not from Aspen Dental. I will not recommend them to anyone either. I told the wife that if she stays with them, she gets what she deserves.

I think the local news did an expose on Aspen Dental. I think I will investigate what reporter did it and have lunch with him. I realize this will not correct any thing. I feel better and you lost money, Aspen Dental, about $3000 and any others I can sway from going to your business.

Well, I went to Aspen Dental in Springfield, MA for fear that I had an abscess. After making my appointment and getting more radiation from X-rays than I felt comfortable with, I was told by the dentist he was not sure if there was a problem or not and I needed to see a specialist. I had to ask for antibiotics because I was positive there was an infection as the left side of my face was very swollen.

The appointment with a "specialist" was made for weeks later and an hour away in Conn. Meanwhile, my face got swollen again and I needed more antibiotics. Once I met with the endodontist, I was told my tooth was completely dead and my bone needed to have grafting done. Before the exam even started, I was told nothing would be done that day. I was then told an implant would need to be done and a bone graft (my other option was ruining 3 teeth and having a bridge but bone grafting was still recommended). This evaluation happened in about 2 min. and I was abused with a dental tool. My gum was pulled down so aggressively that I was in so much pain I cried. She held the gum down and claimed to show an asst. how dead this tooth was. I asked if I had to take more antibiotics and was told that the large pocket in my gum would drain the abscess. This was not true. There was no pocket. Well, I asked if a root canal could be done and she stated, "It could, but it wouldn't last."

I called my friend in Florida after the appointment and she said to get two more opinions. She said that there is no way a dentist could determine if root canal treatment would or wouldn't "last", that this all depends on the individual. I went to three more dentists and everyone of them came to the same conclusion. I was told that I had a filling that had become loose from braces I had years before. The bacteria slowly got to the root because as a person in my late 20s, I have high roots. A root canal and crown were done, bone is healthy and it was a typical no complications procedure.

Do not trust them. The woman who examined me did not have a clue and from what I hear, they love pulling teeth. My mother who recommended I give them a call went to another location and is now regretting it. Her dentures do not fit and she cannot wear them for long periods. The dentist just keeps pulling more bottom teeth to make them fit better! So, the procedure for an implant, bone grafting, etc. would have given Aspen over $5k, but thanks to my gut and knowing how really great dentists operate, I saved about $3800. Conveniently enough, implants are not covered by insurance.

So, if you are having any work done there, get a second opinion! To make it even better, I got a bill for $128 for the 2-minute exam. I paid $65 at the first appointment and was assured by the regional manager that it was taken care of, but today I opened a bill for $63. Hopefully, this can be taken care of. I contacted him regarding this matter again and I have faith that it will be. However, the office manager from that location has never called me back ... several times. It's very annoying.

So, just remember to get another opinion, or several. Most dentists will take 1 X-ray of the problem tooth and get it taken care of quickly. You should never have an abscess as long as I suffered. The bright side to the story is my root canal procedure was done by a professional and I have read that root canals done at Aspen have some scary consequences.

When I finally got medical insurance, I went to Aspen Dental. Big mistake. All that I really needed was a cleaning and wisdom teeth (4) extraction due to pain and infection. After my dental plan was made, I was put into a high pressure sales consultation where they push you to sign stuff including a payment plan with a credit card that charges you ridiculously high rates if you miss just one payment. The penalty rate for missing just one payment is 29.9%? And that rate is applied to your initial purchase amount and not the current balance?

My total bill was $1,200, so I wanted to be certain I'm not overpaying. I searched their entire website including my account section and nothing on detailed billing. I did a live chat with a nice gentleman. After 20 minutes of generic responses, I was told to contact my office. When I contacted my office, I was put on hold and never answered. I have heard there is a class action lawsuit against them and I can't imagine why. All I can say is I'm very disappointed in these people. Unhappy consumer.

My name is Terrie ** and I am 44 years old. I began experiencing a toothache on Wednesday, Sept. 19th. As the day went on, the pain worsened so the next day I began calling several local dentist offices to try to get an appointment to get the tooth pulled on Friday. In contacting these dentists, I came to find out that most dentist offices are closed on Fridays. I called Aspen Dental and they were able to set up an appointment for 10:45AM on Friday, Sept. 21st. I suffered terribly throughout the night and the morning of my appointment, I was in excruciating pain. I left home and arrived at Aspen Dental at 10:00AM, just 45 minutes earlier than my appointment time. I walked in and let the receptionist (Annie) know that I was in extreme pain and I had come early to my appointment because I felt that it was an emergency and I needed help immediately.

I asked her to let someone know that I was there. She said, "I don't really even know if we will be able to help you today." I immediately felt discouraged and I felt like they didn't care that I was suffering so terribly. As I waited for them to call my name, I cried and watched the receptionist take several other phone calls from people like me. She seemed annoyed with them and even rolled her eyes and she was very short with the other customers. At approximately 10:50, they called me to go back. In the meantime, the receptionist never did leave her desk to let anyone know that I was there and it was an emergency. I walked back and the x-ray technician began doing some x-rays. I realized that she was taking a lot of x-rays that I felt were in excess of what I needed.

I asked her why she was taking so many x-rays and she said in order for me to receive the x-rays for free, she would have to complete the entire series of x-rays. I allowed her to proceed as I stood shaking in pain. I was shaking so bad that a few of the x-rays came out blurry. She had me hold some plastic device in my mouth so that she could x-ray even my back teeth, top and bottom. The tooth that was bothering me was one of my top front teeth. She completed the series and took me back to the exam room. The dentist then came in about 10 minutes later and looked at the x-rays. He told me that the tooth was infected and that they would need to start me on antibiotics and that they could not pull the tooth today.

I began to cry. I felt devastated, but I understood that the infection had to be treated first. He talked about prescribing medication for pain. I let him know that I really don't like to take narcotics like **. I suggested that he prescribe ** #3. However, I told the dentist that I had a prescription at home for ** that I received back in December of 2011 for pain from a surgery that I had back then. I asked him if I could take them if the ** #3 didn't work. The dentist said that would be fine. I informed him that I only had a few so if those worked, could I call them on Saturday to pick up a prescription for the ** to get me through until Monday. He said that would be fine and to just call them.

After that, the dentist gave me my scripts for antibiotics and ** #3 and they said that I needed to go into the office manager's office to set up an appointment for the extraction. As I walked into her office, she looked at me and said, "Are you sick?" I was a little shocked that she had no idea why I was there. She proceeded to ask me when I wanted to come back for the extraction and I told her that the dentist and I discussed getting it done on Monday, Sept. 24th. She said that the dentist that I saw today wouldn't be there, but she needed to check with the other dentist to see if he would pull the tooth on Monday. She left, came back and told me that he said he would pull it but would not guarantee that he would be able to get me numb. Not knowing any other option, I told her to go ahead and schedule the appointment for Monday. I just wanted to get out of there so I could go get the pain medicine filled at the pharmacy.

She said my appointment is at 11:00, Monday morning. I asked if there was anything earlier than that and she said no. She then began a discussion trying to suggest that I purchase a partial denture. I told her that I would have to think about it. As much pain as I was in, I just wanted to go. She started typing on the computer and printed out an estimate for the partial - it was approximately $1,448.00. I told her again that I would have to think about it. I asked her what my bill was for today and she said that the bill would be about $221.00 and I asked her why so much. She said that with x-rays and exam and the tooth extraction, that is what the bill comes to. I asked her to breakdown today's charges and the extraction that I hadn't even had yet. She said today is $91.00 and the other $130.00 could be paid on Monday. I asked her why the x-rays weren't free like the x-ray technician said. She told me that I was previously seen there in 2010 and that deal was only for new patients.

It would have been nice for them to let the x-ray technician know that before I had to endure the unnecessary pain and cost of all of the extra x-rays. I paid her the $91.00 and I left. Later on that day, I realized the ** #3 wasn't helping at all. So as the dentist instructed, I took the **. It helped immensely. I was able to get a little relief from the pain with the **. The next morning, Saturday, Sept. 22nd, I called Aspen Dental to let them know that the ** #3 didn't offer any pain relief and to see if I could, I wanted to come up and get the prescription for the ** like the dentist told me to. The receptionist (Annie) answered the phone. Before even putting me on hold to inquire with the dentist about the prescription, she told me that the dentist that I saw on Friday was not there on Saturday.

I asked if she could speak with the dentist on duty and ask him if he could review my chart for the notes I had hoped the other dentist would have made regarding our discussion about the ** #3 and the **. She asked me to hold. When she returned to the phone a few seconds later, she told me that the other dentist would not write a prescription for me for ** because he wasn't the one who treated me initially. She said he also said that pain medication would not work because of the infection. I reassured her that the ** would work and that is the only way I could get through the weekend without suffering the horrible pain. I asked her to please be an advocate for me and stress to the dentist on duty what I said. She put me on hold again and a few seconds later, got back on the phone saying that the dentist on duty stated it is his policy that he cannot write prescriptions for **.

They said that I would need to go to the emergency room if I wanted any medication. Having no health insurance made that not an option. My husband called back to Aspen Dental explaining to them again how important it was to get me something for pain. They still wouldn't even consider helping me. My husband became angry because they wouldn't even try and the receptionist hung up on my husband. I just needed some help, someone to care, so I felt I could depend on a place like Aspen Dental. It appears I was sadly mistaken and made to suffer unnecessarily because they did not want to provide the service that they advertise.

I went in for extractions and dentures. After months of ill-fitting dentures and numerous visits, I complained to corporate and received a $50 gift card. So that is $1950 I spent on horribly bad fitting dentures that make me look ten years older. Thanks, Aspen, for the worst experience of my life. Now, I need to save up money for new dentures with a reputable dentist. They should be put out of business. Biggest scam in the world.

I was referred to this office by their patient services. I started out at Zanesville, OH Aspen office. I went in for a teeth work after $3,000, 5 teeth pulled, 2 partials made, and several visits later. I was sent to Newark Aspen office. They had to make new partials but they don't fit either. If they can't fix the problem, just refund me the money I spent so I can find another dentist that can fix my teeth.

On Monday, July 19, 2010 at 2:45pm, I came in to Aspen Dental, Newark Ohio for a new patient consultation complaining of a tooth that was sensitive to sweets and left confused with paperwork that stated that I owed a $2,654 in credit charges for dental services to Aspen Dental.

Its now about 14 hours later and I have asked Aspen Dental to cancel (stop) my treatment plan and was told that an email had been sent to the office manager. After my initial conversation with the dentist, I believed that I wanted to get implants. I spoke with the office manager and found out that implants would cost close to $8,000.

I told that office manager that I did not want to spend that much money at this time. The office manager worked out several other treatment plans that were less expensive. Before, I actually knew the details of the altered treatment plan that was going to cost $2,654 that the office manager had worked out. I was told that the money had been credited to my Aspen Dental account.

Then I was whisked off for a cancer screening ($67) which I was told was part of my treatment plan, which I did not have the choice of choosing. Then I was taken to get an impression of my mouth and at that time I told the assistant that I was very confused about which treatment plan was scheduled for me and even more confused at the fact that the office manager said that eight teeth would have to be extracted. The assistant did not take the impression, but called the dentist to explain my treatment plan.

When I became hesitant about having teeth extracted that I was not aware of in the beginning and that the color of my teeth would not match, the dentist aggressively preceded in getting an impression of my mouth and bite (which I was told this morning was because they are working on my partials now). Then the dentist told me to go back to talk with the office manager about the cost of full dentures.

At 5:55 pm, the office manager told me that it would be $600+ for both partials, which was even more confusing since I thought we were talking about full dentures. The office manager said that she needed to speak with the dentist, who had left the office for the day, before she could give me a new quote.

When I left Aspen Dental, I was very confused about the treatment plan, what were the itemized cost and sensing that I got hustled.

On 3/4/2010 I went to Aspen Dental for a new patient exam. They indicated that I had 4 fillings that needed replaced at a cost of $836, which would come out of my pocket. I do not have dental insurance. Most of my dental work has been done in the past 5 years so I did not believe I had that many problems. On 3/39/2010 I went to Dr. Daryl ** for a second opinion. Dr. ** did not find any problems and nothing needed to be replaced. I did not tell him about my trip to Aspen Dental because I did not want to bias his opinion.

Aspen Dental was one of the companies that my insurance would accept. I went complaining of a toothache. I was seen by a dentist and told that I needed a root canal and given an appointment to return for the root canal and a deep cleaning that he said I needed. I was then led to the Finance dept. where I was given a list of charges amounting to over 2,000 dollars. I said that I could not afford that and they said that it could be broken down into monthly payments. They gave me a form to sign but did not tell me that I was signing up for a credit card. When I came back for the cleaning, they said that I had gum disease and would need treatments or I would lose my teeth. They said that each treatment was 60 dollars and that I needed nine and they would just add it to my monthly payments.

After leaving, I did some research on the internet and found that I did not have gum disease. The treatments that they gave me had risks that were not explained to me. It was an aggressive treatment for excessive gum disease, which I did not have. The dentist who saw me had numerous complaints against him and had lost his license. I cancelled my appointment; I was asked why and I explained that I did not need treatments. I was charged for a toothbrush for 170 dollars that they simply handed to me in a bag, did not ask me if I wanted to purchase it.

The lady did not say a word. I asked if the charges would be taken off and if I could receive a new bill with only the cancer-screening and the treatments. She said that I had to wait for that and of course I never received it and I began to get calls from Care Credit for payment and that is when I found out that it was a credit card. Something needs to be done about the practices of Aspen Dental, I never had the work done but they charged me anyway and I had to pay to have the work done elsewhere.
