OK, I'm going to be completely honest. I received a loan from Regional Finance and at the time I needed the money. Well I got back on my feet and had enough to pay off the loan early. The loan was only $1400 and my balance was $2000. I paid $100 first month, $100 second month and $800 the third month. Which left me owing $1000. So last week I paid off the $1000 but here's the thing. You have to go to the branch to pay off your loan. You can't pay it off online. I think they do this because they want to try and talk you into borrowing more money. When I told the receptionist I wanted to pay off my loan. She said, "Oh no. You don't want to do that"! When I asked her why. She said, "because we need you to stay longer".

At first I thought she was joking but when I paid off my loan. She said, she couldn't give me confirmation of the pay off right now and it would take over 20 minutes. I told her I would wait and I got my confirmation and a print out within five minutes. I also asked when would it show on my credit report as paid off. She said, she had no idea. So here is my advise. If you're considering getting a loan from this company. Pay it off as soon as possible but remember you can't pay off the loan completely without going into one of their offices. Which I feel is a set up to get you to borrow more money. I wouldn't use them again. Their rates TOO HIGH!

So, they sent me a check., I didn't ask for it. $2,400 and at the time, I was like.. Yeah I can pay off that refrigerator I got from Frys. That's fine but, at 12 payments of 24, they reach out to me and ask if I want to extend the loan. I'm like no, it's ok but they tell me "Oh don't worry.. You have such good payment history. No credit check, no worries.. Just take it." I decline but, in early September, I get COVID... Owe. Can't work 1/2 the month. So I call and ask if the offer is still there. Girl says absolutely. I tell her, "Ok maybe we can do it. I'll get back to you." When I call back on Monday, it's like.. They hate me. They don't care if I pay on time. They are like.. "No, you're no one." I have 4 payments left and, after all this runaround, I am done. I won't do business with them again. Sorry I ever did. I mean, don't call me and offer anything if you don't intend to go through. Wasting my time. Don't do business with them. You'll regret it.

I initially took out this loan for a little relief during covid. Have paid every payment on time and like a week early. During this time I have been trying to buy a home and was receiving alerts about the Regional Finance. In January when I got the first alert I called them and they assured me that it does not affect my score in any way. I felt like maybe I was wrong and let it go. Since then I have continued to pay my payment on time and early and it stalled my score because they are reporting my interest increase and not my payment that I am paying. I reached out to corporate and again Not a real answer just denying that it could do anything regarding my score. Don't obtain a loan unless you just really direly need it because this company will have you paying forever and when you have problems or concerns it's no resolution. I was told to PAY THE LOAN OFF AND FIND ANOTHER LOAN COMPANY. BEWARE.

The loan offer came in the mail. We reviewed the terms and deposited the check. Funds came quickly and we received a courtesy call. The rep, Meredith, was helpful and answered our questions. We were able to pay it off within 3 months so the interest rate wasn't bothersome. I feel that some people taking this offer didn't really read the details and somehow believe they can get off the hook for repayment. If someone borrowed your money and then came up with a slurry of excuses not to repay, you'd be mad. Not just say, "Oh that's fine. You don't need to pay."

Also, if you know you can't make a payment, call ahead and not after it's due. And if you receive special terms for repayment that differ from the original contract, don't just sit there and wait for it in the mail. If your due date is coming up and you haven't received anything, call to get details so you're not hit with late charges. You can also set up an online account to view your information. "It didn't come in the mail" is not a viable excuse if they sent it and it wasn't returned unopened as "undeliverable." You must take charge on your end of the contract. I would recommend this company if you're in a pinch. Just make sure it's just a pinch and won't put you further into a hole.

Inquired about the company and asked for loan details prior to applying. It was not mentioned during that time that BK Chp 7 had to be discharged for 2 years. It was disclosed after the hard pull on my credit report. Rep said I met everything else aside from that. I feel like that is important to know before proceeding with an application that will affect someone's credit report while they are trying to rebuild. Not happy about that!!!

I received a pre-approved loan offer for $2400, which is the same as what married couples get through COVID-19 stimulus checks and it is therefore very misleading. Even more insulting is the exorbitant rate of over 30%, meaning you are paying over $850 in interest on a 2-year loan some people may have accidentally signed for. This is unethical to say the least.

A few weeks ago, I was notified of a loan taken out under my name and was being asked to pay $1500 within a 48 month period. I never took out a loan before and was confused about how it occurred. The loan organization explained to me that they mail checks to possible customers. Once endorsed with email, phone number, I.D., and signature the check can be cashed and the loan is activated. My signature was forged on this check with fake phone number and email address. The I.D. number used was an old expired I.D. of mine that went missing years ago. I put in a dispute with TransUnion and Equifax, placed a freeze on my credit, filed a police report, and started an investigation with the corporate loan office. Despite all of this, I have not heard back from any of these entities and the loan is still active and affecting my credit score.

I then worked with Dawn and completed the process very thoroughly, and I received not only the loan I requested, but all the information necessary. Everything went perfectly with the initial loan over a year ago and with the new loan now which not only paid off the old loan, but allowed for the extra cash I requested. Most of the staff is new and relatively untrained so you will NOT get good service. Of course, this means that you get a lot of misinformation. If there is no other option for you (as there was not for me at one point), pay it off as quickly as possible. So around Christmas I am on vacation. Wanting to buy something for my wife who was stationed overseas. Need some extra cash. Was in the area. Very early. Went inside. Woman told me she was available to talk about personal loans. Gave her my information. We discuss options and financing terms and employment for about 30 minutes. She receives a phone call. I am waiting for another 30 to 40 minutes. The associate says to me "I apologize. That was my manager. He wants to know if you're a member of the military". "Yes maam. I am". "I'm sorry sir but we don't do business with anyone associated with the military or government. Whether it be local state or federal. It's a company policy. I will delete this information and hope you have a good day".

I was flabbergasted at how this was handled. I went outside and went to the grocery store next door. About an hour passed. And I went back inside to ask to speak to the manager. He said to me. "I just don't wanna take the risk of you guys not paying me. It's hard to contact you and you guys move all over the place. And if you die. Well I don't get paid on my loan. The 6% really bugs me. We typically have high interest loans and it's not really worth the hassle to go thru the Relief Acts 6% interest rate ruling. I'm very sorry but I'm in the business to make money. Not give it away."

I knew there were other available sources to me and it was based upon a whim of hope that a private company would assist me. It was Christmas and the options I normally had available were very slim on assistance because of the holidays. But the treatment I received at this facility was terrible. To be denied because of my workplace and lifestyle. It actually hurt to think that my employment may cause issues like this. I don't know if this was a privately owned franchise of the company but it made me not want to come back again.

At the beginning of 2019, my debit card was used to make unauthorized purchases and my bank canceled all charges that were charged to it, including payments to Regional Finance. Due to the mix up with the bank, it has messed up my account with Regional. I have talked to the manager at the local office and also the manager in charge of electronic payments. They were both very helpful and assured me they would do everything they can to help me straighten my situation out.

I'm dealing with the bank and Regional and hopefully everything will be straightened out soon. I'm writing this review to let everyone know that everyone has different experiences with all companies, but it seems mostly that only the bad ones get posted. My experience with Regional started out bad, but only because of the person I was talking to. Once I got to the right person (and in my case it was 3 different right people), who knew how to listen and how to do their job properly, everything turned out fine. I got prequalified for a loan, which did not affect my credit score. This is why I applied. I contacted my local branch, as recommended and went through the additional steps to qualify for a loan. The person I spoke to, Travis, advised me that he would follow up with me within the hour. About a minute after I get the alert from Credit Karma, advising me that someone has checked my credit, which added a new hard inquiry, lowering my score, I get a call back from Travis, who is yelling in the background at someone else so loudly that I had to repeat myself when I answered the phone. Unprofessional.

Then he tells me, and I quote: "Oh yeah about that loan application, we couldn't do nothing with that." Unprofessional again. I paused, waiting for him to continue, and when he didn't, I had to ask why. His response, again, I quote: "Something about some derogatory items on your credit report...". Very, very unprofessional. So I assume I'll be receiving a letter in the mail informing me of their decision, but I had a bad feeling about applying with this company, and I should have listened instead of going against my better judgment. I can't speak on their lending services, but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Zoca Loans is a little better than this, as far as personal loans, and their loans don't impact your credit score.

I had gotten a loan from Regional Finance a little over a year ago. This was the first time using them, and it was relatively easy to get a loan. Good credit score, good payment history, good employment history, etc. I paid my loan on time every month. Actually I paid a little bit more than the minimum. Generally how I do things, try to get ahead or get paid off sooner. I was terminated from a job that I had been at for over 8 years, due to no fault of my own. I applied for unemployment, and there was an inquiry on why I was terminated, and they determined I was let go for no reason and I qualified for unemployment.

For those of you that don’t know, unemployment is not enough to live on, not enough to pay the bills, it’s a fraction of what you made before. So, I started to shuffle bills, and I was slowly getting behind on things. Once I started to get behind on this loan, these guys called me 3-5 times a day. I told them I was unemployed now, on unemployment, and I will try to pay them when I am able to. I had a family I had to feed, lights to keep on at my home, and cars to maintain so I could search for a job and my wife could take the kids to school. Even after telling them I was unemployed, they continued to call every day, “just checking to see if you found a job.” I truly get they want to get paid.

At one point, I got to 60 days behind, I was still looking for work. I also was fighting to keep my house out of Foreclosure. I told them I was still looking for work, and my home was about to go into foreclosure, and I would pay them as soon as I got a job and income was coming in. About a week later, the constable shows up at my door and they are taking me to court to put a lien on my home. I got a job about 2 weeks later. I started to get my bills caught up. I saved my house from foreclosure, that’s the good part. The bad part is, my mortgage went up almost 2.5 times the normal amount. So, now I am commuting to a job over 50 miles away, more in gas/car maintenance, and I bring home less than I did while on unemployment. I have made 4 of my 12 payments, and I am starting to fall behind... now they are harassing me again.

I have a loan from another place that is similar to Regional, they are the financier for my car. I will say this much, I have called them, told them my situation, and they are working with me. They are like, "Life happens, we get it, we’ll work with you and try to help." After all is said and done. I have recommended they other place to many people, and I make sure I tell them to steer away from Regional Finance. They are easy to get a loan with, but they don’t care if life happens. Again, I know I got the loan, and I know I have to pay it back. That is not an issue. The issue is they don’t care when things happen that are beyond your control. Lesson learned. This company is not one I will ever deal with or recommend to anyone. Never again is all I will say.

I got the This is a Real Loan Check in the mail. I typically shred these offers as most are scams or the interest rates/repayment is stupid high. This time I laid it aside for some reason. I found it a few days later when tidying up my desk. I decided to research the company and really look at the attached Promissory Note and the APR and other fees. I decided to call them to get more information. I wanted to be sure that if I took the offer, I could pay it off early with no fee. I was told yes and that there would be no fee other than the interest that would be charged for whatever the length of the loan was. And there was a $100 fee that is charged for everyone. I told them that I would call again later and decide if I wanted to do it.

I waited a couple more days and decided to cash the check. I have made all payments early. I have had zero issues with them. I knew ahead of time the terms of the loan, the APR, etc. My check was for $2400 and my payments are $138 per month. I double pay each month in order to pay down the loan faster. I am offered additional money for loan each time, but I decline. I will be paying the loan off at the beginning of the year. They have reported to credit bureaus, which has helped my credit. I think as long as you read the terms of the loan and then adhere to them, you will be fine. Of course if you fail to pay or otherwise default - they are going to come after you. Their job is to loan money and to collect their money back - not feel sorry for you.

A few months back, the office in Houston started soliciting me about taking out an additional loan and combine my furniture loan. I went to the office to talk to them and a women told me that she could loan me an additional $3000 so I could pay off some credit cards. She combined the 2 loans together to make my monthly payment $143.00, which was fine.

When I called to make my first payment, the guy on the other end of the phone said no, my payment due was $240.00. I told him he was wrong because I never would have committed to a monthly payment that high. When I called to speak to a supervisor, he stammered around and first told me the amount I borrowed was $7,000, which was wrong. He then corrected himself and said $6,000. $1083 + $3000 = $4083. It scares me that they do not know what they are doing in this office. I have been trying to reach them by phone for 2 days now and no one is picking up PLUS they don't even have an answering service. Then I had a baby and I was out of work for almost a year, as soon as I got any source of income I started paying them right away consistently. 2 months later I get a notice from an attorney for them that a writ of garnishment had been put in with a judge. I contacted Gabby the manager of this location in Albuquerque NM on Sequoia and she states she can stop it at anytime and to continue to make my payments and she will contact me later (which she never does, I believe this was to just get me off of the phone).

4 months go by and I receive a judgment that I am in default. Speak with their attorney. They were never notified that I was paying. Then almost 6 months go by I'm still making the normal payments and bam my payroll calls me to tell me a writ of garnishment had been put in for almost $2,400 and I only owed $1,600 the day I got the call I called regional to find out my balance. This company seems to care at first to get the loan but when you are with them for awhile and life happens they go down on you really quickly. They make promises they don't keep. In the long run they are going to hurt you more, there is a reason their rating are so low. You really don't need a loan that bad especially not from this company.

Please take the time to read people's reviews. We all can't be lying because we are made out to be horrible people. The company did not hire right with Gabby. There is no integrity with her. She just lies straight to your face and has an I'm going to get you attitude, we are all human beings no one is better than one person just because you have the power to hurt that person's credit. I was forced to do business with this company when someone fraudulently cashed an $1800 check that was supposedly mailed to me randomly. I never saw this check, and I certainly didn’t request it. I had to put more work into clearing my name of this loan with this company than the thief had to put in when they got the loan! When I showed up at the business with the police department (required by the company to clear my name) I learned how easy it is to get a loan. They get names and info from creditors (they stated they buy names). Then they randomly mail pre-approved loan checks out to the names on the list. In my case it was for $1800 ($2750 after fees and interest they explained).

When someone receives the check they sign it, print their driver's license number and phone numbers on the back and deposit it in their bank. Once the check is deposited the company gets notification and a copy of the cashed check. They then send the name and address from the check to Equifax who then confirms the info and attaches a corresponding DOB and SSN to the loan. So this thief didn’t even have to have my DOB or SSN to get this loan on MY credit! What makes it even worse is they DID NOT verify the info prior to letting a random person cash a check they randomly mailed out. The thief provided 2 phone numbers on the check. 1 didn’t even work, and 1 was to a Days Inn hotel.

The company called the numbers for the first time as the police officers were standing in front of them, and when they found out one place was a Days Inn they laughed and said “well, they either live there or work there. Lol.” like it was no big deal. The DL # on the check was halfway illegible. The police tried several times to read it and couldn’t get it right. They asked the business if their online copy was better than the print out copy to which the business again laughed and said “no, it looks like that on our screen too”. The police then asked “so you give out loans without verifying information?” And they responded “no, we verify, that’s why this lady is here” meaning that was the reason I was in their place of business to begin with!

The police corrected them because I was only in their place of business because I received a notice in the mail letting me know “my loan” that I didn’t take out had a payment that was overdue!!! Complete idiots and frauds here for sure!!!! And if you are thinking of using this business for your personal loan needs take a look again at the loan amounts I listed above!! You take out a $1800 loan and pay them back a total of $2750! On top of promoting felony acts with their business practices they are also raping their customers with those fees right there!!

Then I asked if they have an online portal where I can make payment because in all honestly who wants to go in person to make a payment, or who sends check nowadays, their response was no but you look on the website and it says otherwise.

At the beginning of I was sending more than I was suppose to because I never got a confirmed letter stating how much my monthly payment would be. Then when I finally found out how much my minimum was I started to sent that, recently past two months I know for a fact that I have been sending the minimum, but this month I was told my payment was half of what my normal monthly payment is and I asked why. Their response was because I sent more money last month and that is a lie, I sent the minimum. I don't know if this some type of scam place, but someone pay off my loan for me because I don't want to deal with the company ever again! My kids said, "No mom, this says it's a REAL CHECK PAY TO THE ORDER OF." I took a closer look and started Googling. I was hesitant because the review rating was bad. However, I decided to READ the reviews. They mostly complained of getting phone calls and personal appearances at their doors when they were late for a payment. They compared the company to Mob bosses. I thought about it and determined that these people were only complaint because they were late and this company doesn't take the reject call lightly. Pay the bill on time and no payments will need visits and calls to get payment!

Here I read about people stating they didn't know it was a loan and that they thought it was a payment for a lawsuit or some other garbage. The check was attached to a folded piece of paper that looks like a contract! If you tear the check off you have to touch the terms and conditions that is 3 pages. Also, the check says LOAN in red on it. I am not affiliated with this company, nor am I paid to write this review. I am simply saying it is a loan that is beyond obvious and they do intend on collecting their money. If you can't pay your bills don't take the loan! Our check was for $1300. We pay $113.14 a month to return the money. It can be paid off early. The papers state it will still have a $100 fee even if paid off by the first payment where no interest is accumulated yet. I received a loan from this company and I regret it. At the time, we needed the money to get over a few financial obstacles resulting from high medical bills. The interest charged is astronomical and you repay the loan many times over before you even get close to the end of your note... if ever. They will continuously offer to renew your loan but it comes with more even interest that results in a higher payment that once, again never seems to end. Also, their policy is to call, call and call immediately upon the day your payment is due. They can be relentless and a nuisance. Even though legally, they cannot assess a late penalty until ten working days past due, they will threaten and try to make you appear in their office at your inconvenience. That is a tactic to try to get you to renew their predatory loan so that they can receive a bonus for your misfortune.

I was in the hospital with pneumonia and my local branch argued with me over the phone about needing me to come into the office to make the payment rather than have a check mailed or take a credit card by phone. My payment was one day past due. I have never received a late charge and I pay regularly on this account... I've never been more than a couple of days late. I often even overpay the minimum amount to try and catch up on the interest. Yet, I am still treated poorly by the revolving door of employees that work there each month. There has to be little or no customer service training and even if there were, again it is a revolving door of employees who are probably just following a script. My advice is to not go down this road with Regional Finance or any company like them. You will overpay and be worse off than you began. And you will suffer PTSD from all their collection calls or loan renewal offers... Trust me, they are brutal!

People are stupid until proven otherwise. This sums up the local Regional Finance completely. I have told them over and over and over again that I am NOT to be contacted at work. Call me after work. They don't understand, I explain it again, they continue to call. Now they are contacting family and friends pretending to be my friend and just wanting to catch up.

The one time I made the mistake of answering the phone, I was told I was behind a payment, I asked them to check again, I just made a payment but the check has not cleared the bank. I was put on hold and someone else picked up the phone and again claimed I was behind a payment, I told them the same thing, check again, I just made a payment but the check has not cleared the bank.

One time, I made a payment by dropping the check in the door after hours, they claimed that they never received the check. Come to find out that the cleaning service had thrown them out thinking they were garbage. After this, I started putting my check in an evidence bag, sealing it and taking a photo of it with my cell phone for future reference.

I asked one time if they were able to take a debit card payment over the phone, I was told no. I asked if they could take a payment over the website, I was told no. I asked if they could do a direct withdrawal from the account over the phone, I was told no. Basically, they take a check or cash but only if they are open for business.

One person who was stuck in a permanent state of eclipse at the local branch told me it was illegal to have an answering machine in this type of business, so that there was not a way to leave a message, I had to call during business hours. Really? Illegal to have an answering machine or answering service. There are companies in business with far better standards of customer service, technology and intelligence that have a way to leave a message after hours. I have searched for information on the parent company and ended up going in circles. Regional Finance is owned by someone, but the who is proving elusive at the moment. In the meantime. Their phone numbers have been blocked on my phone and a cease and desist letter will be delivered shortly.

I was in there on one occasion and someone needed 1200 but her credit score was not too good. I actually witness them to go beyond and give the girl the 1200 but me being a customer of several years can't even get a increase.

I have never encountered any reasons for a line increase ever. They are so pleasant to deal with I love going in there. I was told regional finance will review your credit. The only time they have is when I asked for a loan increase. I also check my Equifax reports from Equifax and it's really strange it does not match their info. Hopefully within the next two months my other loan company can pay off regional finance and I don't have to worry or dread going in there. I would not refer anyone to them because basically they're not wanting to help you.

I received an unsolicited loan offer in the mail. It had a check attached. It said I was pre-approved, all I had to do was cash the check and the money was mine with no other paperwork required. I even called the company and they assured me that was correct. I was pre-approved, all I had to do was deposit the check in my bank account and the money was mine. Payments were to be made per the attached letter. I deposited the check and it bounced. I called Regional Finance and a lady by the name of Cindy said she would look into it and call me back. I never got a call back.

This place is a sham. They're mass mailing letters/worthless checks lying about being pre-approved. When you try to cash the check, then they check your credit and decide if they want to pay the check. These people are criminals preying on helpless people in need of cash. Stay away from these lowlifes, you can't possibly be that desperate that you need to deal with this sort of people. There are other reputable companies out there, go look for one of them.

I got a new loan from Regional Finance in Grand Prairie TX location. When I got the loan they offered me insurance on the loan which I declined it. I have gotten a previous loan there and I knew insurance was optional, but when I went back to get a second loan the Manager told me that In order for me to get the loan it was required for me to pay for this insurance. I was very unsatisfied but I had no option according to the Manager. A couple months later I was told by my doctor that I was having surgery, so I went into the loan office and let them know that I was going to have a surgery and was going to be out of work from 6 to 8 weeks. That I need for them to submit an insurance claim on my loan.

Everything started not so good, the office manager told me I had to get paperwork from my doctor and employment place and that he couldn't help me on any paperwork or the claim. I brought him back all information requested, and he was supposed send it to the insurance claim office. I was told by him that until this gets resolved he was going to put a hold on my account so I won't be getting calls or counts as late. Which I think he never did, because during my disability time recuperating from the surgery I continuously got calls from this office and letters in the mail saying that I was late and that when I was going to make my payment. I called several times to ask for status on my claim and no information was given to me.

Then I decided to go to the loan office ask to speak the Abel ** the Manager and I was told by him that he doesn't know no information on the claim, and he didn't know why insurance company was taken so long for my claim. All He answer me was "I Don't Know..." A couple weeks later got a letter in the Mail from the insurance claim office saying that they couldn't process my claim because the wrong forms were sent to them, and they send me the correct forms for me to fill out and submit the claim again... which I did. I gather all over again the information from my doctor and employment and this time I send it to them...

I called Regional Finance to speak with the Manager, supposedly he was never there, I wanted to tell him that he gave me wrong forms. I also left him messages for him to call me back, but till this time I have not received a call from him. At this time I am still waiting for my claim to be approved, this claim was originally submitted on April. It taken more than the usual process time and all because of the unprofessional help from this location loan office. But the worst thing is, that I monitor my credit monthly and I just found out last week that this Loan office of REGIONAL FINANCE has reported To the credit bureau that I am late on my payments when they know I have a claim pending. My overall experience with this place has been terrible. Their staff is very unprofessional, especially the office Manager Abel **. I wouldn't not recommend this place at all.

Amanda, the representative that I spoke with, informed that that I need to come in office and sign a form in order to change the date. Effectively, I went to the office, I had changed from the 10th of each month to the 20th of each month. Therefore on March 2017 I paid on the 20th. In April 2017 I paid on the 20th, then I was told that I have 2 late fees. I was told that my due date is the 10th. When I asked about the paper signed for the change on 20th of the month. Amanda, the same representative told me that, it is not updated in the system yet, they will take care of the mistake and remove the fees. I was disappointed, so I told her that I will go back to the 10th of the month, I suspected that they were playing game with me. Come to the month of May 2017, I paid on the 10th.

Therefore I had paid on April 20th 2017 & May 10th 2017. June 6, 2017, I dropped the June payment at the office. On June 21st, I received a call from same representative, Amanda stated "that you are late for the month of June 2017, we never received any payment, for the 20th because your payment is due on the 20th". I immediately faxed her the money order receipts for the month of May and June 2017. She called me back and insisted that I did not pay. I informed her that I need a lawyer and I will retrieved who cashed the payment. On the same day I filled a PS form 6401. Presently I have in my possession the payments cashed by Finance Regional Lawrenceville #1108 Acct. #**. This company needs a serious review. I have proof of fraudulent activities. We signed up for the loan it's our responsibility to pay. Although I have been late and haven't answered or come in when they expect me to. They have worked with me. I have also been a long time customer and you will never find another financing place that loans with the rates they do.

I actually feel angry after reading the reviews and how people make excuses for the checks they received. You're an adult and you cashed them. So did I. Let me say that the location where I have borrowed from is very understanding and will work with you. Only if you keep in touch. I actually just looked up the address to send in my payment, as I am not at home. And I saw all these horrible reviews! Well, I am here to say... if you pay your payments on time with why you promised you would when you took out the loan. There won't BE any problems. If you're going to be late. CALL THEM. Don't wait for them to start calling you! Explain why you're late and 9 times out of 10 they will help you.

I have a great experience with the Regional in Asheville, NC. I don't know if they are independently owned and operated or not. But the one here has been here for years! I have never heard anyone complain about them being rude, pushy, etc... You have been told to pay by cash or MO only... I would expect it's because they received from you checks that bounced. The point being... don't treat them badly and they won't treat YOU badly. And then get online and write a horrible review. Yes, the interest rate is high. If you have extra money from time to time - send it to them, it will decrease the amount of time you have to pay, which actually effectively lowers your interest rate over the life of the loan, since it is a simple interest loan. And no, I do not work for them nor have I ever. I am just a customer that needed some help once and they helped me. I am grateful.

At first, I had the best experience with the manager Mrs. ** whom was there in the beginning when I first signed up with Regional Finance. Since then they have changed managers and made her assistant the manager of this branch in N. Augusta, SC. I advised the new management that I had lost my job and had been unemployed for 9.5 months. I was told that he would work with me and my husband in getting the payments caught up. Well he did, he kept refinancing the loan with a higher payment and longer terms. What started out as owing approximately $2000 he changed out loans and made the balance owed to regional at $8k with a much higher premium than I had before. With this in mind, he knew I was unemployed and could not afford to make this payment.

They would harass the HELL out of you, they called my phone 7 times within a hour's timeframe, then lied and said they did not call, but HELLO, we have new TECHNOLOGY that records and logs your calls both incoming and outgoing. This manager over this branch is the worst. He identifies himself as being a christian and always willing to help, but when you tell him you are in a dilemma it's "come in the office so we can discuss". Why? If I am calling you over the telephone to discuss, why would I come into the office.

I pray that I will be able to pay this company off and they would revamp their managerial strategies and get some people that are customer service oriented and willing to work with others. These people are not representing the company as it should, it shows greed and mischief. You will forever owe them unless you file bankruptcy and it seems like this is my only option because they are really difficult to deal with and my hopes are the Regional Finance Corporate Management would read their reviews and consider reconstruction of their company worldwide.

After my divorce, I was unable to maintain the luxury car my ex-husband purchased for me. I went to a dealership in town and traded my vehicle in for something that was within my budget. I was financed by Regional Finance. At the time, they were Auto Credit Source. I never heard of them, but I knew that without my ex-husband as my co-signer, my credit was non-existing, and I had to start somewhere. Some things didn't add up from the beginning, but I was so overwhelmed with my four children, 3 jobs to stay afloat, and countless personal battles, that the last thing on my mind was how I went from paying $340 a month for a Mercedes Benz, to paying $550 a month for a Kia. It bothered me, but I couldn't fit my children in the previous car and I couldn't afford the repairs the luxury car required at that time. So having a newer car that ran with no mechanical issues, and that all my children could fit in, seemed more like a priority.

I finally found some stability in my life and came to my senses. Fast forward 3 years, I'm now on active duty military orders. I called regional finance in Houston TX to inquire about the Soldiers and Sailors Act. This Act states that any service member on active duty orders can have their interest rate on any pre-existing loans reduced to 6%. I've called to ask them about this and they have ignored me and given me the runaround each time. I started inquiring with other companies about my refinancing options. This prompted me to look at my original contract.

I started calculating. Turns out these people will get from me $40,000 on a 72-month loan on a Kia that had an original price of $21,000. The contract from the dealership says one thing, but when I multiply what regional finance charges me each month times 72, it equals almost $40,000. The amount I agreed to paid at the dealerships was in the 20s, so how in the world do I end up owing almost 40k??? My next step is to consult with JAG and I am terrified because JAG is known for wanting to do nothing more than notarize papers. But I have $0 for an attorney.

This company is dishonest. If they will charge a single mother of four children, serving in the military and working up to 3 jobs to stay afloat, almost double the original price of a vehicle. I think it's safe to say that they will do all kinds of underhanded dirty back door deals to bamboozle people out of their last dime. I hope people will research this company and run in the opposite direction. And I can vouch for every single person that's given a negative review on account of their employees and the lack of customer service. These people will talk to you like you are a sub human species. It's humiliating to say the least. Save yourself the trouble and do not do any business with these thieves!!! You're better off riding the bus!

Watch out for the optional insurance coverages that some branches add on without explaining them. This is technically illegal and they are supposed to give you a quote with and without these coverages. They are very expensive. Also, they leave far too many details on voicemail. In NC for example, all a collector is allowed to say on voicemail is name and number. If the word account or anything about a payment or a broken promise is left in your voicemail save it and contact their district manager and file a complaint. Call an attorney if you are able and you may be able to get out of dealing with them altogether.

Made arrangements to make payments with Beaufort SC office. Forgot to call by Saturday, therefore a vehicle pulled up in my yard Monday morning from the Hampton, SC office. I thought it was my wife's ex-husband who has already destroyed numerous items of ours. I went out with a bat, reached in passenger side of vehicle while the driver got in driver's side and that's when I realized camper was being repossessed. I took keys out of ignition, tossed in front of vehicle, walked to rear to make sure camper was unhooked and told worker she was trespassing and I will be pressing charges. She stated that I didn't have to come out with a bat and I said, I never in any way shape or form threatened her with this bat. I turned around and walked into the house while my wife made sure she left.

The next day Regional Finance worker hired a tow truck driver to snatched camper. I blocked driver down the road where police allowed them to leave with camper and I advised driver he will also be charged with trespassing. Needless to say a week went by and a sheriff patrolman pulled up to arrest me for supposedly swinging a bat at her while cursing at her the entire time. I also was wrongly accused of getting in on the drivers side preventing her from leaving. Apparently Regional Finance does not hire employees with a background of honesty and integrity. Once all is said and done I will sue the person for a false police report, will sue Regional Finance, and sue the sheriff's department.

Anyway the assistant manager got mad and left a questionable message... She said "thought we had an understanding, in order to avoid next step, and this might go to the supervision, and other things." I used to work as a collector and all you're supposed to do is leave your name and number. Isn't this the slippery slope for the fair trade and debt collection act??? Anyway I filed another complaint with another company. Have talked to the supervisor and she apologized. Seemed genuine since the assistant manager dragged her name in it, lol. Very rude people! No way would I ever renew account in the Troy, Al office! There are collection laws...

I immediately re-sent the check through my bank and called RF to make them aware of the mistake and that another check was on the way. Imagine my horror when I was told they wouldn't accept my check and that I had to pay by cash or money order.

I found this terribly insulting, as it implies (after two years of doing business) that I'm some sort of low-life who routinely bounces checks and must deal on an all-cash basis. Of course, the phone rep (who insultingly referred to me as "honey" twice during the phone call) denied that this is the case. A bit of advice from Regional Finance: Treating long-time customers -- customers who call YOU immediately to rectify an error -- like they're untrustworthy low-lifes is not the way to encourage them to do continued business with you. Perception is reality, and you're giving folks the perception that doing business with you is onerous and burdensome.

I didn't qualify for unemployment because my job loss was due to having another baby. I didn't know what to do because I had to give up my car due to nonpayment. Back in January of 2014, Regional Finance came to my house. Not once but three times. So there I was with a new baby, no car, no income and the company had me in a corner. They told me I'd have to go to court if I don't work something out, so I had to refinance which gave me two months to start making a payment. Well, in February, I got my tax refund and ran out and bought a junk car, and found myself another job, then started making my payments again.

Two months after having my job, my transmission blew, leaving me stranded yet again. There are no bus lines in my area so it's been really hard. A repeat of what happened last year. I'm still waiting to get approved for unemployment benefits and I fear they will start coming out to my home again. If I ever get out of this loan, I will never again borrow from a finance company. I will be making a trip to their office today. They'll most likely have me to refinance, and that's not good because it will bring the amount back up. My mother had a loan with this company and recommended me to give them a try since I was in need of some extra cash. I went it, did an application, required me to go back home to get two recent pay stubs, one bill under my current name and address, get a list of personal property for collateral to cover the loan, and 5 references. I didn't mind going back home because I really needed the money. I then got approved and since my mother referred me she got a $25 check in the mail.

I knew I was going to be late one month, so I gave the company a call, gave them a promise date of when I would be in to make the payment and they left me alone. I knew they didn't send out statements so I knew I had to get organized so I wouldn't forget when I was due. The company also does not take credit cards or checks over the phone. I didn't mind. I went every month to the branch to make my payment in cash. If you can make your payments on time, get organized, and not mind driving to the branch to make a payment or even mailing the payment, then I'd recommend you get a loan here. They aren't like a payday loan. This company reports to Equifax so it helps your credit. Oh and you can also set up bill pay to make your payment.

Why don't they understand that when we can give the payment they help out not harass us and threat us. In the first place I never did apply a loan with them, they ran my credit check without my permission. I may make a mistake in using the check they send. We need to never accept check if we didn't apply in person. I hope that other people won't go thru what I'm going with regional fin. The employee think they can treat us like they do. These debt collectors prey on customers who are not aware of consumer laws protecting them. First, debt collectors (such as Regional Finance) are not allowed to phone you if your only form of contact is a cell phone. They may only contact you once per day during normal business hours (8am - 5pm). They can only offer you the opportunity to make a payment at the time of the phone call, or arrange for future payments, or another form of payment (if the current form fails). It is against the law for them to call you multiple times a day anytime after 5pm or before 8am. And, it is definitely against the law for them to threaten debtors with incarceration, property seizure, or any other form of distressful situations. The methods they use are called harassment and are extremely illegal. There are class action law suits against companies that employ these operating standards. Consumers should be aware of their rights.

I got an offer for a loan and I did not remember the location or their name. I went and got a loan and now I am getting phone calls already. The girls that call sound young and nice. I think it is bait for me to call them. From what I have read, I definitely should have gone to another loan office. A lot of people said they were taken to court. I am on Social Security and State of OK retirement. I am wondering if they can sue me if that is what they do if I do not pay them back. I am going to pay them back, but I think I will get a loan and pay off the balance.

When I first apply for a loan, the customer service was great which is why I accepted and additional loan for cash. The first loan was for financing furniture. The second loan was a live check. My payments for the most part were always paid before the due date. Around June 2013 I began to have problems with my paycheck because of a new billing system in which cause a delay in my pay dates. So during this time I did the best that I could making payments on both accounts. As matter fact, my furniture account had a month payment in advance so when I missed a payment in October the account became late. So my husband notice a sheriff paper on our front door. Of course paper of those sort never go in to detail about a civil suit and who it is from until you respond. So my husband and I go downtown to see what was going.

We pick up the paper. It's Regional Finance taking me to court over a 78.00 past due furniture bill. So of course prior to the court date I paid the bill to become current with 400.00 remaining of the loan. Go to court, a judgment is filed against for the remainder of the loan terms. So after that, Regional turns around and send me a letter telling me I am available for cash and can refinance the loan for the live check. I just put letter in my file and told my husband this company just had over 6 people in court for judgments and they think I would refinance with them. They are a joke and they are definitely rude. People complaints here are understated. They harass you if you are a day late.

I screen all my phone calls because as I stated early for the most part my payments were always on time. On some occasion it would slip my mind because they don't send no paper statements at all. This lesson learn for me, all money is not good money. They have the highest interest rates that are applicable in whatever state you are in. Oh, I forgot to mention before all this agony happen they even offer to finance my car. Reading some of these complaints I am so glad I didn't because I probably would be riding a tricycle to work if it was left up to them.

This was our first loan. Period. We purchased a couch and it was financed through Regional Finance. The incident was last year, it was our second payment, and we had a particular due date. We were late by 2-3 days. We had received multiple phone calls in that time period, which I presume is normal for a credit company. My husband and I had spoken with an agent a few times and we just ignored the rest of the calls. There were about 5 per day. However, by the third day I came home to a typed letter, not in an envelope, taped to my front door. I am in a gated apartment complex. This letter was wide open and was threatening. I do not have it anymore and wish I would have saved it and found this website sooner.

My point is that someone came to my home and taped a threatening letter - open for the world to see - on my front door. THIS CAN'T BE LEGAL! My husband was infuriated over such a reaction from the credit company after being less than a week late on a payment. The letter was anonymous. We had a pretty good idea as to whom was behind this. There is or was a particular employee there that I had spoken with during those first 3 days of being late. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. There was one conversation where he called and was demanding we pay. It was very clear to me what kind of business this was within that first conversation. I cannot recall the words that were said, but I do recall how this person made me feel and how he crossed many lines with what he said to me. I remember him yelling at me a couple of times, which I thought was so absurd so I refused to answer any time they called. I felt like this person got off on threatening and harassing other people. He enjoyed it, and it was obviously empowering to him.

It was as if we were 3 or 6 months behind on a loan. So my husband called and said if this man ever comes near our home again then he was going to call the police. We never heard from that particular person again, though other people would call us very often. After that situation, we were less inclined to care about paying this company as they already threatened us. We did pay, but when we're late in the future, it was about 7-8 phone calls per day. They called my husband's place of employment, which I am sure is illegal, especially if we did not provide that # to them.

We have since paid off the loan. We asked them to change his name about 3 or 4 times and they still hadn't changed it. AND it is SO difficult to pay them. You would think with how threatening and demanding these people are to get their money that there would be an easier way to pay. They are only open regular business hours, to which my husband and I both work. You can only pay by going IN TO the location, which is entirely to far away from our home - or with money order. There is NO other option. NEVER AGAIN. There should really be something done about this company - from a legal standpoint.

I did not think it would be a big deal! But I cannot believe they showed up at my house TWICE in less than a week! Plus they told my adult son I owe them money! I got that stupid "check" in the mail too. They made me pay the first payment in person and I was forced to write things down; something anything for collateral... I had already cashed the check!

So they said write stuff down or pay in full (plus int. and fees) I wrote down the TV I bought for my son... do not own anything. Everything is on credit at Conn's (TVs, XBOX, Computer, Tablet etc.). I had to write down my wedding ring cuz the girl saw it on my finger and said that I needed to write it down or pay in full! That should have been my RED FLAG and should have walked away without signing a contract. I will be mailing the payments in on Friday (I refuse to go in person) and it will be certified mail. I have back surgery next week. Hopefully they don't break my legs while I'm recovering... or show up at the Rehabilitation Center demanding payment! I will be without a paycheck in March as I only have enough leave for 1 month... Let's see what happens ... Maybe they will sneak in and chop off my finger to take my ring while I am under sedation! DO NOT CASH THE CHECK! If you did just send in the payments! TERRIBLE CRAZY OUTTA THEIR tactics to collect money!

However, I did pay the folks $600.00 back over a four month period. Then I mislaid some information during my move, and missed a payment. They started calling me several times a day. Sometimes the person would leave a message stating his or her name and that they were calling from Regional, sometimes just a name. I spoke with someone there and advised that I would come to the office the Saturday before Christmas and pay them, but I was detained by a family emergency and forgot. I arrived at my sister's home Christmas day to find that someone from this company had GONE TO HER HOUSE to contact me, found I was not there, (not surprising, since I'd told them by phone that I was no longer at that address), and left a note for me to contact them. Which I just did.

I told them this was unacceptable, and they were to discontinue harassing me by phone and not to harass my sister. I was told by the highly unprofessional person that *I* was harassing him!! I told him not to worry, as I would not harass him again, nor pay them any more money, and they should send me to collections. He stated that they WERE a collection agency, (a lie), and therefore I wouldn't be able to deal with anyone else. Under Federal Law, a collection agency may not attempt to collect a debt by notifying any third parties - neighbors, family, friends, etc., that a debt collection is being made against the debtor. By their own admission, they have broken the law. These people are terrible, and will be notified by every means at my disposal that they are to refrain from contacting me further. If they want to sue me, and go to that expense, they may do so; at which time, they will still receive nothing from me except my everlasting contempt. Stay far, far away from these lying thieves.

I've been laid off and it's going on for a year. My payments are $320 at the start; now they are $360! It seems like I never get my payments down. They stay in one spot for six months before I see a drop. Well, here's the deal. I looked outside my house before locking the screen door and I don't see the car. I called my daughter she doesn't have it. I called the police but I hang up when I remembered I talked to Regional and told them I will be there when my wife got off but hey, I didn't make it so he knows he will see me on Monday for sure because it's another month. For a year, I've been doing this.

Anyway, I got a letter this on the 15th saying I owe $431 to bring my account balance up. Well, believe it or not on my son that got murdered, they repossessed my car. I mean I never went two months or three months behind. I refinanced my car. Well, they did. You know how much that cost plus they come to your house and call but me and the young brother, we're cool. Hell, he knows how I pay. I swear after tonight, I looked up Regional and hell what I see, 17 complaints about them so I read them and their stories sounded like mine. Okay, it's hard times and I'm laid off. I pay them money every month. I'm not giving any money away but for $431 and my payments are $360 a month, I mean if I was my old self, my life would be facing time. My wife laughed because I paid these people before I paid my rent and I just paid Bob King $1,100 to fix my car because the check light engine was on. Now my wife is saying I thought that was your boy.

I'm in Wilmington, North Carolina now. I got to pay towing. It's Friday and they might not open on Monday as it's a holiday and these people know a paying customer and I am one. I'm thinking about going to WECT News. I got my letter they sent me on 3/15/2013 with the amount due of $431.34. How come they would repo my car? Man, is this fair in a time of a slow economy situation? Please pray for me and I will pray for all those who feel mistreated by a group of people who have been turned around from how they were brought up. I know the people work at this office was not that type of person until working for this company. I hope Regional can explain this to me on Monday as to why they took my car when I make my payments every month.

Regional has been the worst nightmare ever. I first got screwed over by the dealership I went to and they put me in this horrible loan place. They have taken advantage of every little situation to screw me over. At one point, they asked for my insurance. I took it to them. I don't know what happened. They accused me of not having insurance. I got charged like $2000. I told them for 4 months, I had insurance. The manager was rude saying, "You don't," and all kinds of stuff. Well then, I got in a car accident. My GAP Insurance wouldn't pay for that so they have me 2 weeks to get response from the time I supposedly didn't have insurance to clear my account and to be able to purchase another car.

Well, she made me redo my loan, that I was pretty much forced to without my consent. Then I finally got a copy of my insurance and proved her wrong. I never got an apology and the bank that was trying to get a letter stating she fixed it. She lied saying she was going to send it. She never did. I literally sat all day waiting on them. I called that morning. The secretary said all the girls including the manager went on break. I called 4 hours later that 30 min. break was over 4 hrs. The lady was clueless, very unprofessional.

They harassed me before this happened, to go pay my payment, to go in the office after all this happened and GAP paid them. They stopped and denied my calls because I needed info from them. They would hang up on me and the worker at the dealership. This office is horrible. They're lazy. Every time I go in, they're either eating or doing their make-up while talking to customers. I honestly think this needs further action. Regional is nothing but a corporation that is rude and stealing money. In March 2012, they called to say there was money available ($130.00). Never dealing with a finance company before, I borrowed the $130 thinking they would just add it into the original loan somewhere. I had paid back $500.00 by then. The other day, I called to tell them I would be late for the first time and would make payment on November 8th, not Oct. 26. A call wasn't good enough; I had to go into the office to tell them, which they said was fine. While there, I asked what the balance was and they said $1,255.00. I went to work and thought about it all night.

Once I got home, I logged online and looked at my payments. I had made 13 payments at $106.00, so I was thinking, I've paid back $1,200. How do I still owe $1,255? I went to the bank to get copies of checks because I was going back to Regional to ask. The bank looked at the payment and said something didn't look right to still have that balance, so off to the finance company I went. When I walked in the door, the office manager was sitting at the front counter. After a couple of minutes, he finally said "Can I help you?" I said yes, I would like someone to go over my account and explain it to me. He seemed upset because I was asking. I then said I went to the bank and they were trying to figure it out too. He said, "You took this to the bank?!" I said, "Yes, it is closer than you are, plus I was already there."

He looked at me and said, "Ha! I just love it when people who have no clue try to figure things out!" He took one step away then turned and said they have no clue as to finance charges. I then said, "I guess they did, I have a contract with me." He then proceeded to push me off to another rep. I called the corporate office to complain about the manager and was told his district manager would be calling me. Later that afternoon, that manager called me to say his district manager told him he needed to call me to say sorry for pushing me off on other rep. The reason I called to complain wasn't for that, it was for his rude comment. So being mad, I called the corporate back to ask to speak to the district manager's boss.

The district manger then tried calling me the next day after asking for his boss, but if I wasn't important enough for him to call me back personally the day before and had the manager I was complaining about call me, I certainly don't want to hear from you now. 3 days later, still no call from the mister stranger's boss. I feel like hell. I already paid back the original $1,200 back and I could care less now to pay any more. I'll just wait, let it go to collections and when they call, I'll settle for 1/2 the price.

I opened an account with Regional Finance in August. I then gave birth to my son on 08/19/2012 and ran into financial difficulty when my disability for my maternity leave was short. I went into the office to make a partial payment (all that I could afford) and was told that they do not accept partial payments. Afterwards my cell phone and work phone were constantly called. Even when told that I was unavailable on the work line, they refused to hang up and wanted to hold. They then started calling my phone from different numbers.

I then spoke with Summer, who told me that they were going to take me to court if I did not make my payment. I asked her how they could take me to court and I was trying to make payments to them. She stated it was company policy. I told her I could make 2 payments on 11/01/2012. She then told me I have to make the payment by 10/31/2012. If I didn't, they would not accept my payment on 11/01/2012 and proceed to take me to court. Upset by this, I called her manager who was just as rude. He proceeded to belittle me and defend the rude actions of his employee.

Please take heed to the postings and try to do business with LendMark and Springleaf - they are very understanding to their clients and will work with you. Regions takes advantage of people who are in financial need and treats them like crap. After speaking to the management, I firmly believe they are trained to be rude and discourteous and they do not care for you as an individual.

I have had the worst customer service experience of my life with this company. They constantly harass me at work and on my cell. They will call my cell phone 20 times in a row while I'm at work knowing that I cannot answer that phone at work. Then, they will call my job several times a day everyday until I talk to them and it can't be on the phone. It has to be in their office where they can bully you into refinancing, threatening that if I don't refinance that they will come take my car. I have told them they can have the car. It is not even worth dealing with them anymore, but that's not what they want.

I had my daughter in March, very stressful time for me. I almost lost her in delivery. They called me every day while I was in the hospital then demanded that the day I came home from the hospital, I had to come by there. I explained to them that I was not allowed medically to do so that I had surgery and that I also could not drive. They told me that I better find someone to bring me up there that day or they were coming to get my car. This week, I went by the office in person and told them that the payment would be made this Friday, the 17th. They wrote it on my card and now, it's only 10:06 am and they have already called my cell phone three times and I can't answer it. I have already paid them back double than what they loaned me and still owe almost the full loan. I feel like I will never get away from these people. Nowhere in my contract did I agree to be harassed on a daily basis.

In 2011 I received a loan for $1500, with a repayment of $4800 with monthly installments of $200 for 2 years. The district manager is rude, unprofessional & demanding; constantly calling upon due date and making home visits before or after business hours. I was not aware of the large repayment until I reviewed my balance after making the first payment. Not only the loans given have extreme high interest rates, but the service is just terrible.

I have a furniture loan there and my husband has one. Any time I see that I'm going to be late, I will call them. I had to make two payments in one month. That left me owing $84.00 on my loan. My husband went in and made a payment. They told him that they were about ready to come out and pick my furniture up because I was behind. They also told him that he was behind and he would have to pay $145.00 for his next payment instead of $77.00. When he told me that I had my receipt in the car and I carried it in the store and asked them how was I behind, I only owe $84.00.

He kept looking in the computer and said that I had a check returned. I told him that was not possible because I don't even have a checking account. He called another man over and he looked at it. He said I know what happened, she made a payment and her husband was behind so I took a payment off her account and put it on her husband’s. I showed him on my receipt that I only owed $84.00 and asked him not to do that again. He wrote at the bottom of the receipt that owed another payment.

When my husband went in last week to make our payments, they told him that he only owed $77.00. My husband told them that he was told that he had to pay $145.00. The man told him that he can pay what he wants but it was $77.00 and they sent a receipt from my account saying that I owe $94.00. I don't know how they came up with that but, I will never once I get them paid try to get anything from them again. They are very unprofessional and they don't know who owes what. Something really needs to be done because I have to make an extra payment that I shouldn't have to make.

Ever since the check was cashed, we have been harassed by this company. The payment is due on the 5th of each month. They begin calling on the 3rd or 4th, threatening what they will do if we do not come in by the 5th to make the payment. If for some reason we cannot come in on the 5th, they repeatedly call our home phone and cell phone. Now they have somehow gotten my work number and they are harassing me at work. There has to be some kind of law against this. I was informed today that I had been late 8 times (I have not paid 8 late charges). I told them that is not correct. How do you figure 8 times? I only borrowed money and was supposed to make 12 payments. The girl replied, “Your payment is due on the 5th. And if you are not in this office on the 5th to pay, you are late!” She has threatened to come to my home or my place of employment to collect the payment. This was on dates such as the 6th and 7th.

I told her that the law says I have a 10-day grace period in which to make the payment after the due date before a late charge can be added. She said Regional Finance does not give grace periods. And she would continue calling and would also come to my home if I do not pay the payment on the 5th. I asked her if she was saying that Regional Finance was above the law. Her reply was, “I guess we are. We are a finance company and we can do as we see please.” The people at Regional Finance are out of line. Something should be done about these people. I am sure the people who work in the local offices are doing what corporate office is telling them. I don’t know if this is for sure. But if it is not and the corporate office does not know about their collection tactics, then something for sure needs to be done. If there is a class action lawsuit ever started, I will be a part of it.

On June 16, 2009, I was telephoned at my place of business by a Regional Finance Corporation representative, Christy. It must be noted that previously the company was advised not to telephone my place of employment by self and consumer affairs representative. I even sent written correspondence to contact via mail for this was becoming far too stressful. Therefore, I was in awe that she telephoned me to discuss my personal account with the corporation at my place of employment. Right off, Christy began to question as to why I had not made a payment to the corporation or called.

I informed Christy that for my own sanity, I elected not to call for I have been inundated with constant telephone calls and messages both at my home number and cellular number by her; reminded her that she could have contacted me via mail. I, again, questioned why she telephoned my place of employment to discuss this matter when actions where in placed to discontinue this type of contact. Christy became verbally aggressive and shared that no such arrangements were made; she went on to proclaim that she had my information on my 'card'. I informed her that she knew this was not the case and I again called into question why she was contacting me at my place of employment. I shared with her my concerns and how unappreciative I was of this contact at my place of business. Needless to say, the discussion became heated. She became angered and begins to state how I was avoiding her calls. I again, informed her that for my own mental health, I did not need to speak with her as constant as she thought I should. The discussion continue to progress to the point that I requested an intervention from her supervisor. She increased her voice to a matter-of-fact tone. I am assuming to alert me to the fact that her intentions did not change.

After waiting on hold for several minutes (I was adamant not to hang up) I spoke with her supervisor who agreed that Christy was not to call my place of employment and in fact it was listed in my file and on 'card' not to contact at work or visit home. I expressed my dissatisfaction with my treatment and my concerns over how Christy seemed to take a particular personal interest in my affairs. He conceded that he would handle the situation. This would have been the end of it for me had I not issued a previous complaint through consumer affairs due to the barge of calls made to my work place, etc. Please note that I am well aware of my debt stance with the company regarding payments.

In addition, also note that I previously informed Regional Finance representatives that due to a Mandatory Furlough mandated by my place of employment in January 2009, my financial situation had changed. However, I would continue to do all I could to address my debt situation with the corporation by making payments on the account (though payments made were not on due date, I worked to satisfy this debt. I was aware of the late penalty fees calculated on my account, aware that fees were taken out when a payment was made and of the possibility of other actions such as collections). Nonetheless, sharing of information took place through my countless verbal contacts with company representatives and mail correspondences.

I informed representatives that my financial status would resume to its natural state in July 2009. That is why this aggressive interaction was so puzzling to me. The representatives were well of aware of the date that the Mandatory Furlough would cease and I often informed them that when this occurred, my payments would, to its normal state.

The call on June 16, 2009, was irresponsible, stressful, belligerent and unprofessional. I was unable to concentrate for an extended period of the day due to this circumstance and I am in a profession in which concentration and listening is essential. This interaction has led me to question how other less vocal or knowledgeable consumers are treated by this representative. Please note, in no way am I attempting to neglect my financial obligation for I have continued to make payments even when finances were tight and unforeseen in many cases. It is my belief that everyone desires respect and professional interactions, especially in this time of financial constraints, when faced with loss of finances, etc.

The call made by Christy appeared to be nothing less than an attempt to strong arm me, increase embarrassment for my inability to pay on the account in a timely fashion. I had faced this situation with her and others on several occasions, and was made to feel less, for not being able to send a payment on the due date, even though penalties were applied and had to be paid by me and not them. I should not have to endure this type of stress or interactions at my place of business; a place in which I work and ultimately need in order to clear debts not only with her place of business but other necessary vendors in which I deal.

The mental challenges that I faced since dealing with this corporation/representative is unimaginable. There came a point in time that when I heard my cellular or home telephone ring, I became anxious and did not listen to messages left until days later. I had to do this in order to maintain some since of normalcy due to the constant calls and messages - sometimes four to five per day, every day for an extended period of time. No one should have to hide from a voice on the telephone, or have to leave my home door closed wondering if a representative would show to cause even more embarrassment or harassment behavior. It came to the point that when I came home for the evening, I did not view my caller ID for even the sight of the telephone number caused me to become ill. I sincerely had to stop taking calls from this representative and company for my own mental health.
