They called me saying they are collecting money. When I asked who they were collecting money for, they won't answer. They also accessed my credit information without my approval. I don't owe anyone that I'm aware of any money. I have called and complained to TransUnion that they were allowed to access my credit information. They would not give me their address over the phone. When I told them I was going to record the call, they hung up on me. Don't give these people any information. I will be sending them a cease and desist letter.

I received a collection notice from Debt Recovery Solutions for some payment towards Verizon whose service I used around six6 years before. I have no dues with Verizon and never received any notice for payment from Verizon to date. I did a Google search on this DRS company. It appears this company is fraud.

Like many other posts, I received an urgent demand for payment from this organization, though I had no record of an obligation to its alleged client (in my case, T-Mobile). I duly called the Debt Recovery and asked them to provide evidence of my supposed indebtedness. Their representative answered by asserting that I had ignored many previous payment demands. In turn, I replied that while I live overseas, I do receive US mail and that I did not recall seeing any such invoices at any time. I asked her if she had a copy of T-Mobile's original billing and, after some bargaining, she agreed to e-mail me a copy of an actual bill. However, no such message was received.

After several further unsuccessful attempts to coax evidence out of Debt Recovery (where I and an assistant were rudely handled), I finally asked American Express' Credit Secure service for help. Together with one of their representatives, we called Debt Recovery. In this case, we were politely received first by a representative called Mr. **. He, in turn, passed us to his manager, Mr. Elliot Schwartz.

Mr. Schwartz asserted that he did have in hand a written demand to me from T-Mobile. I asked to see it, as did Amex's representative. At which point, Mr. Schwartz abruptly declared that he would close the case. The Amex representative asked for an e-mail memorializing this decision to be mailed to me. Mr. Schwartz agreed, and within 15 minutes, I had a message closing the case in my inbox. In that letter, Mr. Schwartz identified himself as the CEO of Debt Recovery. I credit the presence and determination of Amex Credit Secure's representative with the ultimate satisfactory solution.

I talked with Verizon and they said they do not deal with this company. They have pulled my credit report and have my social security number.

Back in 2003, I got a letter from debt recovery about a Sprint bill they say I owed in the amount of $971.10 from when I was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX in 2001. I contacted them and told them that this wasn't possible. I asked them to send me the full bill and about seven months later, I finally got it. First, it was missing about five months and second, it said that I had never made a payment. I asked if a company as large as Sprint would let me keep a phone on for over a year without ever paying? They just argued with me. I fought and fought to have this removed from my credit and it finally was in 2007. I have not heard from the company since.

It's now June of 2010 and now I'm getting letters again. I called them and they hung up on me twice. I finally used my iPhone to record the conversation and all I stated was that this call is being recorded and may be used against your company in civil and criminal proceedings. I need the address of your legal department to send them a cease and desist letter and other legal documents. The first person hung up on me. I waited 10 minutes and called back, said the exact same line and this guy gave me the address. So I am sending them a cease and desist letter and hopefully this will resolve the matter. This debt they say I owe is fraudulent and I have never owed that amount to Sprint.

I received calls/letters from these people. Claimed I owe a debt to them. I went to talk to our lawyer and he advised me after looking them up that I should not have any contact with them. He said they ran, at best, a shady operation. After checking some of my paperwork, the debt is beyond date of collection (aka zombie debt) even if it existed, which is questionable.

He said if I did anything to purchase a phone recording system, send a cease and desist letter, and announce every phone call with them that it is being recorded and may be used against them in both civil or criminal proceedings. He also stated to simply ask, repeatedly, for the address to serve them with a lawsuit and not to ask or say anything else. Literally he said to say this:

"I require the address of your legal department to send you a cease and desist letter and also to serve you with other legal documents."

He said to say nothing else and answer no questions no matter what. He said act like a soldier reciting their ID number and let nothing stop you, even if they start talking over you. Do not raise your voice, simply repeat until they hang up. Do this every single time and record them if possible. Once they give you the information, give that to your lawyer.

My credit score was dinged by 10 points. My lawyer advised me that if they continue to do this we could sue, but it would likely cost me more than just ignoring it. On the other hand, he said he might be able to help me repeatedly suing them in small claims court for US$5k until they go away, but that would be a stretch. He could find no attorney of record for them in our state and also that they seem to have multiple addresses, making it nigh impossible to serve them. Still, should the phone calls keep up much longer it may be worth it for the satisfaction alone.

They have, for the last three years, tried to get credit card information, and personal information from me regarding a scam. They claim I owe money for a phone bill. I have a letter from the phone company that says it is false, and I owe no money. They (Debt Recovery Solutions) have been sending letters to my mother's home, and calling her home phone. They will destroy your credit rating on false information, if they can. Do not give them any information. This is very important. They are scam artists. They use names like Nancy **. People sue them, but they make too much money from this scam, and have other operations in other states. The above listed address/number now might be dated, as they may have sold their home, so be aware of that, but those are the names of the men behind Debt Recovery Solutions.

My horrific experience with this company first began in April 2008. They claimed I owed for an unpaid Verizon phone bill which was incorrect. I never paid them since this was a hoax and still it affected my credit score, which was previously in the high 700's before this happened. Two years later, it is March 2010 and I am receiving another notice from them again regarding the Verizon phone bill. I will be irate if they are going to hit my credit score again. Any lawyers who are willing to help, please contact me immediately. Credit rating took an unnecessary hit which resulted in a lower score and less purchasing power along with higher interest rates.

To others complaining about Debt Recovery Solutions: Yes, I had the same complaint regarding rudeness. They should come up with a script that would put people more at ease at the beginning of the call. I was so angry I was yelling at the person and almost hung up. I'm glad I didn't because they suspected the case involved fraud, but they needed me to prove it. There is a big ring of ID thieves who will be sentenced soon that I know of. Maybe your cases are similar. The 2 zip codes near me were hit hard and we had meetings with investigators. This last case involved Verizon.

As it turns out, there is a Verizon landline company in New York which does not service the Southeast. However, there is Verizon cell phone service. My name was changed slightly on the account. They used my SSN. Solution: Talk to them if this is not resolved. Write a statement explaining why that is not you and have your signature notarized. Send a copy of your tax returns for the year(s) involved with only the last 4 digits of your SSN showing to prove where you lived. Provide other documentation of your whereabouts. To add to this it is good to file a report with your local police to get it on record and send along a copy of that report. Without these documents, the company cannot go after the perpetrators (and clear up your credit). Good luck!

I have received several notices from Debt Recovery Solutions regarding a delinquent phone bill. I tried to explain that I had never lived at the address listed on the phone bill nor ever had that phone number; however, the personnel at Debt Recovery Solutions were very rude and would not let me even finish my sentences. I contacted the police department regarding possible identity theft and also a lawyer to determine if I could be represented in a collection harassment case.

Even after trying to relay this information to Debt Recovery Solutions, they still would not let me finish any explanations of what I was trying to do to resolve this matter. I am still receiving collection notices for a bill that is not even mine. At this point, I feel I have exhausted all efforts to get the harassment to stop; however, nothing seems to be good enough for this company. They need to start listening to the consumers and realize that errors happen and that there is such a thing called "identity theft".

I have repeatedly gotten phone calls from this company. They finally sent me a letter asking for $781.00 from an old phone bill from Verizon, an account that I closed in 9/03. The charges in question are due to calls that were supposedly made from Italy on a calling card that never even existed. I explained this in writing to DRS. They, in turn, sent me 1 final bill from Verizon and said that was proof of the debt, but asked for $500 to settle the debt. Again, I, in turn, sent a cease and desist letter, also reminding them that there is a SOL on this debt that has been met. I am still waiting for the final letter from them in answer to the cease and desist.

As a matter-of-fact, I have not had a cell phone since 1994. Now 5 years later, Debt Recovery Solutions is saying that I owe Sprint. Also, all of my cellphones including my last one were all AT&T phones. Debt Recovery Solutions says that they have reported this to the credit reporting agencies.

Suspiciously and recently, I started receiving letters and phone calls from Debt Recovery Solutions regarding a Sprint bill that I allegedly owe. In light of this, I pulled my credit reports and noticed that DRS was reporting this account as a collection in the amount of $563. Additionally, the account was marked as if I just opened it in 2007. The charged off date is listed as unknown. I immediately disputed the debt with the bureaus as not mine and have since written and mailed a certified letter to DRS requesting validation. In tracking my return receipts, the letter was just received by DRS today (9/2/09). I will repost my results when I have them. My next step is to write to the FTC as I'm sure many have done.

Why, why, why are these types of companies still allowed to operate? From reading the posts, this company is a habitual repeat offender and should have been done with a long time ago! Where's the consumer protection here? The credit bureaus are not much help. They just call and if the other party says yes, then it's assumed yours. Not much of a procedure huh? Next you have to spend money and lots of time doing what their job should be, to validate, not verify. No matter how inconvenient, you should fight back these fraudulent debt collectors and let them know you won't have it! I have been denied credit in many instances or presented with high interest rate loans. I was inconvenienced and stressed out trying to get rid of this fraudulent mess!

In January 2009, I ran my credit to see if all was okay. On it was an adverse account from Debt Recovery Solutions (DRS). When I called, I was told it was for an unpaid debt to Verizon from August 2002. I requested copies of all information on this account and was told by DRS that they would have to get it from Verizon. After numerous calls to DRS and 3 months later, I finally received a letter from DRS & 1 phone bill from Verizon which they claim was the final bill. I never received from Verizon anything in the past about this account. The address to which the adverse account states is not mine, nor has it ever been mine. It is a fraudulent account.

I have since received a police report, filed an ID theft complaint and affidavit with the FCC and sent all of this plus mortgage statements, tax statements, and other supporting documents to DRS to clear up this debt. After three weeks, they claim they never received it (of which I do have the certified mail receipt), so I faxed it and they claim they still don't have it. Customer service is extremely rude and they keep telling me to pay the debt if I want it removed so bad - which is unprofessional and illegal. They now ask me for more documentation because what I sent (that they claim they haven't received) is not enough proof.

First of all, this is from 2002. I have limited documentation from this time. Second, a sworn affidavit, police report, real estate tax statements, employment affidavits, old Verizon bills from my actual address, etc. should be more than enough to discharge this fraudulent account. I feel they are harassing me into paying the fraud debt and I would like to know what legal recourse I have against them. When I call Verizon regarding this fraudulent account, they tell me they sold the account and have no information on it.

I called to inquire about why I was receiving a letter from them about a supposed debt from Verizon. They said I owed $284.13 for our home phone in upstate NY. A storm blew the phone lines down and Verizon never came out to fix it completely, so I called Verizon and told them we weren't going to pay the bill since we never had service. When I spoke to Debt Recovery people, they were rude, wouldn't let me finish my sentences and kept talking to me about my address in Texas after I moved and that the service was for that location. I used AT&T at the Texas address. I feel I don't owe any money and they said they would be reporting me anyway.

I discovered that my credit rating was low due to a $276.96 debt to Debt Recovery Solutions. I called them and found out it was for a phone number with Comcast, which allegedly bought the account from Sprint. Now, DRS was the owner of this account. The odd thing was that I never had that phone number nor had I ever signed for anyone else having that phone number.

I found out that the appeal process was very obscure and lengthy, and I wanted to refinance my home immediately. I gave in and paid them (plus an extra $10 to have it immediately in 30 days stricken from my credit report). I asked them to send me (5/29/09) the account information, so I could contest it. They said they would, I've called back two more times, and each time, they said they would send it. As of now (7/28/09), I've gotten nothing.

I got a letter in the mail a letter from Debt Recovery Solutions saying I owe Verizon $180.42 from April 19, 2003! First of all, I never got letters from Verizon saying I owe them money. Never. I paid off all of my debt before I moved to Florida on July 31, 2003. I had my mail forwarded to my new address for 6 months and again, no mail from Verizon. I called them on 7/21/2009 and Verizon told me DRS (Debt Recovery Solutions) bought my information - all of it, even their notes on my account - so they couldn't help me.

DRS said they have no such info (I requested my payments to be sent to me; the ones made for 6 months) and Mr. ** argued with me that they didn't have that and Verizon does. Now, we are going in circles. I know it's not illegal (yet) for these agencies to "buy" info on past clients to suck them out of money. It needs to stop. They are just like Hayt, Hayt and Landou in Miami! It's wrong to make off on our money that we don't owe. Someone needs to stop this. Do they not have any morals? My credit is ruined because of this and that's not right. It's not fair and it's flat out wrong. I have no money for an attorney; otherwise, I would get a class action suit against these "people".

I bought a Dell Mini in January 2009. It was having some problems, so I called for technical support. Unfortunately, Dell has no one that speaks English to help you! After several phone calls in an effort to get some assistance, it was finally recommended that I send it in to have the motherboard replaced and windows reinstalled. I did send it in, but when it was returned 2 weeks later, the same problem persisted. I called again for technical support -- they suggested after some research that I would need the motherboard replaced and windows reinstalled, because it was not done when I sent it in. In fact, they never tested the problem for which I sent it. As a matter of fact all they had done was test the memory (which was never the problem in the first place).
