I'm just wondering if any of you have come at them with the statute of limitations for your state. The last time they called me (5-19-2015), not only did I inform them that since they had yet to provide any tangible and legal proof that the debt was even mine I would now be contacting my local AG, FTC, FCC, BBB, and CFPB, but also that the statute of limitations had run out on "my" debt, they could no longer threaten me with legal action, they can't sue me, and any future phone calls will be recorded for police action. Well, as we've all learned, they hung up on me, but not before calling me a choice word. I had to laugh at that actually. Apparently it is very difficult for them to swallow the medicine they so love doling out...

This company is a nightmare. Their employees are extremely obnoxious and down right rude. I have never been more unmotivated to pay a debt. They dropped my credit score 50 points as soon as I acknowledged who I was for a $200 medical bill that was 9 years old. I worked in collections for years and know for sure that their methods and inconsistencies with peoples' credit are in no way conducive.

Received mail that I owed over $7000.00 for a Citibank credit card. I have never had a Citibank credit card. At police station filing a police report. Letter states willing to settle for $2,000.00 settlement. That's a big difference if this money is really owed. They asked for my social security number (last 4 digits). I did not verify the numbers. Then they said "never mind, we will close account." We shall wait and see!!!

I found out that Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC was on my credit. I called them and made arrangements to pay them in installments. I completed the installments three weeks ago 1/17/2015. I have been asking for a satisfaction of settlement letter for over a week now. Mr. **, was nice but not effective. Ms. **, is the rudest and most unprofessional person I have ever spoken with in my life. They have been coming up with excuse after excuse to why I haven't received a satisfaction letter after calling everyday kindly asking for it to be emailed to me. Yesterday, I asked to speak with a supervisor and got stonewalled yet again by being told that the supervisor will call me back. I never received that call. This is truly disheartening to know that employees are representing a business in this manner.

The owners of this business should be embarrassed by their employees conduct and actions. My next stop will be the Better Business Bureau.

I received a call from a woman named Nesha on 5/22/2014 stating that I had an outstanding debt for almost $300 from Verizon. She had my name and provided me with the last 4 digits of my SS and a # from this supposedly acct that was Verizon and it was opened in 2004. I told her that I never had an acct from Verizon and that she had to be mistaken. She stated that the acct was sent to her office and want to see how can I satisfy this debt and she was willing to make a payment plan with me. I clearly stated that I don't have no money to pay for something that I had no knowledge of and she said she understood. I told her that if I had an outstanding debt from Verizon since 2004 why didn't Verizon contact me personally to recover the monies. She stated that Verizon wasn't going reach out to me no longer in which Verizon never did and that they hold onto acct.

So now 10 yrs later, they want to mention to me about so money I clearly don't owe and never had an acct with Verizon. I told her before I would considered paying money to any I wanted something in black and white writing with information with an address etc. I still didn't receive any reply back as of yet. I regularly check my credit report and found nothing on there as to what was stating. She also said that I would have not seen it on my report. She called me from a Connecticut # ** and gave me a # to call her 877-949-1824... I not sure if this is a scam or what but please beware.

This company has been contacting me about debt that is not under my name for years... I'm not even sure how many years. My credit score is 768, but they're saying I owe thousands of dollars to companies I've never had a line of credit with. I'm not even sure how one can spend almost 2k at Radio Shack. Both companies tell me that they cannot find any record of these debts. I've asked DRS to provide some sort of documentation (aside from the letters they send me just telling me I owe debt) that shows where the debt originated (state, town) or what was purchased and they have never been able to do this. Literally, I can get no other information beyond the name of their company, a dollar amount, the company I originally owed the debt to, and the year it supposedly originated. Both of the aforementioned debts supposedly originated in the late '90s.

In the past, I've tried to respond to DRS, but I was met with extremely unprofessional behavior, bordering on belligerent. They told me that I was a thief, that I stole things from these companies. They screamed at me, hung up on me, cursed at me, threatened my job (which is confusing if they're trying to get a debt paid, imaginary or not) and threatened to tell my family. At one point, a debt did appear on my credit score, unbeknownst to me, and it caused me to not get hired for a job (I did get the debt removed from my credit once I found it). When I realized I couldn't get anywhere at all with their incredibly abusive agents, I began putting their numbers on block and I sent a letter to Equifax (at an Equifax agent's suggestion) to flag my account in case anything from this DRS should appear. Basically, it preemptively states that if they put anything on my account, it is fraudulent and should be investigated immediately.

What bothers me is how they got these debts attached to my name and SSN. The only debt I've ever had was a school loan which was always current and is now paid off. My parents filed for bankruptcy in the late nineties, but after asking them about this, they are fairly sure they never had accounts with either of the stores DRS has claimed I owe money to. I have filed complaints against DRS, sent them cease and desists letters, and even consulted an attorney. Nothing has made DRS stop contacting me about these debts. I have all their numbers on block and I keep but do not respond to the occasional letter that shows up. I'm pretty resigned to the fact that they're probably going to be calling and demanding money for debts that don't exist until I either die or my phone number changes. As long as they don't try put it on my credit score again, I really don't care anymore at this point.

I highly recommend not engaging with them until you've contacted the companies where the debt supposedly originated first and check your credit reports. You can get a free credit report online in about five minutes from Equifax and you do not have to pay for it if you state that you believe your credit might have been tampered with.

Called me to say that I had a debt from AT&T for over $400 and how I would like to handle it. I informed them that I closed my account with AT&T over a decade ago, paid my account at that time. This debt is not on, and has never been on, my credit report. They then asked about breaking a contract and maybe this has gone unreported by AT&T until now. I told them that I am not going to pay them anything. He then said that he will have to tell "AT&T" about my intentions and that with interest the debt is already "like $800". Last time I checked, debt collectors buy debt from a company. AT&T no longer cares if I pay that debt. Everything they said sounded like lies.

Received mail from this company wanting to collect my boyfriend's past debt of a little over $500. Paid them by check through the mail several months after receiving the letter. Two months later, we received another letter stating we owe $6.62. My first thought was that it was interest accrued in between receiving the letter and us actually paying the previous balance. When my boyfriend called them to pay it (10/4/13), an automatic system asked him to input his account number, and was promptly hung up on after he did so. This happened 3 separate times. I called about an hour later and was on hold for 20 minutes. Finally got someone today (10/7/13) and I asked why we owe this $6.62. The man insisted we didn't pay the full balance, and I argued that. I was put on hold and then told that they apologize, and my account will be closed. All I can think is that they were trying to scam me.

I have a very common name so I have difficulty trying to conduct business with several agencies due to mistaken identity. I have even had issues trying to renew my driver's license and getting past security at the airport. When I received a notice in the mail from DRS regarding a delinquent Sprint account (I have never used Sprint a day in my life, btw), I figured it was another case of mistaken identity. Unfortunately, the coincidence was too close to home as the account was opened with an address in my hometown. I spoke with DRS and explained to them it had to be a case of identity theft. They asked me to get a police report documenting the identity theft to get everything squared away.

After making some phone calls, it turns out I had to return to my hometown to file in person. Months passed. I finally go home on vacation to see my folks, and I filed the police report. When I contacted DRS again to fax everything they asked for, I'm then told they need copies of my W-2s from 2006 and 2007 and an affidavit. It took me some time to get this all together. When I got everything faxed to them, I got a phone call from a very rude supervisor stating everything I just sent them, to include a legal document that could put me in jail if it were false, was not valid and I still owed the debt. This was back in 2011. I'm STILL dealing with this mess, but now when I try to call these folks to get everything squared away, it seems their office is always closed. Coincidence?

I keep getting collection letters from Debt Recovery Services, LLC. I must have made the mistake of sending them money in the past before I researched the company or the debt. Now I get debts we do not owe popping up on a regular basis every year or so. I think most people will just pay them and go on. This must be how they target people. I know I have paid every debt to every book or record club we owed. So why are these debts popping back up? The answer is they are sold like stocks on Wall Street. The people who buy them don't care if you have already paid them. They have purchased the debt and want something in return. Tough luck, though. Once a debt is paid, it is over with and the recovery companies need to be shut down.

Funny thing though, as I had never done business with the service mentioned. I asked, "Why contact me now after approx 7 years?" They had no answer and I asked them why they are trying to scam people. They denied this and little did they know I was already in contact with the NY Attorney General and US Postal Inspector's office so when they were informed of this, the woman got angry and hung up!

So beware if, all of a sudden, this type of letter appears in your mailbox. Call and notify the authorities immediately and follow suit. When speaking to both agencies, they were well familiar with this company and their fraudulent practices and in the process of tracking them down. It seems the actual address on their letter is a sham as any correspondence sent to them is forwarded to a distant PO Box just as if you do a change of address. Hopefully, if enough people follow suit these perps will be caught and charged with a felony.

Good luck and beware. Do not let them intimidate you with BS threats of credit reporting as if the balance they allege you owe is fake, so are their threats.

This company absolutely is fraudulent in their debt collection practices. They have checked my credit and have continuously harassed me for months by phone regarding a Verizon debt that I do not owe. I have asked for written verification of the debt. Nothing. As of today, I spoke with a supervisor who stated they sent a verification of debt letter in August 2012 and it was returned by the post office as undeliverable. This is a lie. I have received mail at the address verified for over 20 years! How is it that just now, the post office decides that they can't reach me there? I get all the rest of my mail there? My conclusion, based on all the previous statements and my own experience, is that they are liars! They will use any and all tactics to verify your identity and harass you until you pay.

Do not pay these people! Contact an attorney or credit recovery company and get help. Call your local attorney general and report immediately if you have paid them money and or go to www.ftc.gov to report them at the Federal Trade Commission website. These people are relentless and they will not stop until we stop them. Just remember: Even if you do have a legitimate debt with a company like Verizon, as soon as a debt collector buys the debt from the original company, you do not have to pay the second company! By law, the company that buys the debt did not provide you any goods or services so by law, you do not owe them! If you want to take care of your debt with Verizon, then contact them directly. Have a great day.

I paid the amount because these people were relentless, which was fine. I did owe it. I did ask for a receipt, which I never received. Time went on, I called several times and asked for a receipt. The people who answered were very rude and said a letter was sent out. I thought it was all done until another company called me regarding the same bill. I told the new collection agency that it was paid a long time ago and I would get a receipt for the bill. So, I called DRS regarding my receipt. I stated I just wanted a receipt, which never came. 8/25 Mrs. ** answered this time. Again, she was extremely rude. I gave her my email, a fax number, and an address. You would think I would get one of them. No receipt.

Again I was contacted by this other company. I said I would call again for a receipt. I called again on 9/27 and said all I wanted was a receipt. ** said, “You still owe $58.62.” I asked why when they settled with me before for $79.00. I just wanted to clear it up so I could just be done with the nightmare. Ms. ** was nice and said she could get the balance and she would send me a receipt. Still, no receipt. I checked with her on all information so I could get a receipt telling her I had asked before but have received nothing. Then she began to be rude, still hoping to be done with this, nothing again. I called again and spoke with several other people. They were rude, they hung up on me and yelled.

I again called on 11/14. Mr. ** said he would send out a receipt. Yeah, right. On 12/4, I called again and got a rude lady that said the letter was sent out Nov. 15. She yelled at me and said it was sent and hung up. Determined, I called back again. They answered the phone but said nothing and hung up. So, I called again, got the same rude women and hung up on me again. So, I called again. I was so pissed Mr. ** answered and said he will email it to me within 24 hours. Well, I doubt it will come. I told him, “How do I call you back since everyone is so out of control there?” He said, “Call the Spanish speaking line.” Am I to believe they will send it to me?

I have a typical story - first-time home buyer and aware my credit isn't perfect from the get-go. However, a nagging little file kept popping up from Sprint for $98. My mortgage broker asked if I would research this and get back to him. A credit agent called me, and we three-wayed Sprint. I gave them my social upfront, because I had not recalled having Sprint Wireless since 2001/2002. Sprint's agent stated their files go back at least 10 years and that I was not in their database at all.

We clarified that if the debt had been sold to a 3rd-party collection agency, would they have my information still on file? They stated that yes and that they kept that information. We called Debt Recovery Solutions and spoke with an agent. We gave him the account number listed on my credit report and my first and last names. Nothing. Then I reluctantly gave him my social. Ah, he pulled up the account with no problem and read back the same account number. He stated the debt was from 2006 and had sent letters to me but were returned because he had an old address. We told him that Sprint had no file on me, and he replied that if they had sold the debt, it would have been purged from their records.

I didn't get a good feeling from this guy. So, I politely asked why they would purge this record and possibly invalidate the debt entirely? He did not want to argue and simply offered to put a stop on collection activity while DRS sent out a statement that I owed the debt. I am going to dispute this, because clearly he is not able to prove I owe this debt. And if Sprint sends me a letter stating they are unable to find an account, I will take it to the bureaus.
