E&A has very friendly people and they care about each other. Their New Year's party was really nice. We've gone to Topgolf and it was fun. It's also fun going out to dinner together. Everything we do at Events and Adventures is fun. This Sunday we're planning to go to the Renaissance Fair here in Arizona.

Going to my first event, I was like "oh I'm gonna meet some new people and have some fun, and make friends." Then I was able to do two events in one night. The first was pretty crazy and really fun. Winner got a big old, life-size, gorilla-type teddy bear. The other event was an icebreaker. It's quite an experience. You keep meeting more and more interesting people to every event you go. You get to do fun things, whether you're enjoying yourself or embarrassing yourself in the process.

I joined Events and Adventures because singles can get together and hang out. I started out a little bit nervous but excited at the first event I went to but I eventually became more relaxed. I enjoyed the soccer event -- we went and played indoor soccer and I loved it. I'd recommend!

Having just moved from Arizona to Texas, I was looking for a way to meet new people. This made me try Events and Adventures. So far, I've been to 10 events and 1 weekend camp out, which was my favorite. I have another campout at the end of this month and whitewater rafting in August. I have definitely made new friends and built my social network here. I have people to hangout with and talk to. It's been a fantastic environment and organization. I really liked the flexibility because there's more or less something to do almost everyday. And even if you do have to cancel last minute, there's no penalty. They understand that things happen. It's freaking awesome.

I've been enjoying Events and Adventures. I grew up in Houston all my life and thought I knew what Houston was. When I moved back after college, I realized my high school friends are gone and what I expected to come back to was not the same. So I need to make some really great new friends and find a lot of great new places to go hang out at. It's been really awesome.

I've made a couple of new friends through Events & Adventures. There's a bunch of new people there, I had a drink, relaxed and just had fun. I've gone to four events now and I've got a bunch more planned for the rest of next month. They're all fun and I’m looking forward going on a swimming trip. I also participated in volleyball every Tuesday, which is a good workout for me.

My friend said joining Events & Adventures would be a good way for me to meet people after I was married for a long time, for 27 years. I don't have any single friends so I'm not quite sure how to interact and socialize with people. It was a way to get out and to not just sit at home. I'm interested with the trip and I'm hoping I would be able to take some of them. As of now I usually attend two activities a week. I like bowling but I've not gone with some of the meetings. I'm not big into the bar scene but I go to the game days and the movies. I've made friends, met some people and saw each other and hang out -- it's nice that way. I've recommended Events & Adventures to some people that I've met who were single, or just got divorced. It helps a lot trying to get back out in the world.

Events and Adventures provides good service. I really like when they have events. I know Houston is one of the only ones that has a clubhouse so they have a central place and we can go there to have a game night and stuff. That's a good thing to meet a lot of people.

Right now I'm dating and trying to get to a point of marriage. I'm 45 now so I'm not a young buck anymore but I like to have fun. I've been a member of Events and Adventures since January of 07. I like the variety of activities and the fact that I could go out and do things with people that would enjoy the same activities and have opportunities to meet potential mates or more. I attend about four, five events a month – certainly more in earlier years. My favorite so far is the camping in Wisconsin at Spring Green Campground on Labor Day weekend. I also like a certain event on Valentines weekend a couple of years ago that I went to which was very good up in Saint Paul. There was a good turnout – like 80, 90 people there and they had a DJ. It was a good event and I like the variety.
I also did one rafting event in Minnesota. I also go to sporting events, dinners and trivia nights. I'm also competing in a contest in one of our events. I've already competed in three qualifiers and one core tickets that we passed up here in Minnesota. It's the largest country music festival in the Midwest so I'm trying for a third pair tonight. If you get far enough and make the top three, you can sing in front of Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts or Blake Shelton, on the same stage, in front of 50,000 to 60,000 people. That's pretty cool. Plus you get money, RV, VIP pass, and you can meet all the people that are performing all weekend--it's a pretty cool deal. Plus you get a recording chance. It's the 7th year now I'm hoping it's lucky number 7 for me.
There's a lot of ways you can be involved in different groups. I know meet ups are pretty popular and I've had generally favorable experiences. But I wish there was better attendance. At some point I'm disappointed by the lack of turn out. There's many registered members in Minneapolis-Saint Paul but the turnout per event is so weak. I think it comes down to culture; society is changing to a different form of culture than we had 20 years ago. The other part is weather related. We do have a lot of nasty weather here. Today is terribly windy and about 10 degrees so it’s challenging getting people out of the house to do events.
Also sometimes I feel like the events are a little bit too restrictive. I paid a lot of money to be in this group and I expect that I shouldn't have as many boundaries as I have as a result of it. We're all adults and we're not 20 anymore. They sent out a survey not long ago about different events that we would like to have and we could put other events that weren't listed and I did respond to that survey because I think it's important that the membership does provide their ideas to spice it up a little bit. Especially because I think there’s a lot of redundancy in planning events. Almost too much of bowling, almost too much of going out to dinner, or going to the bar to drink and not enough of the things that I would think would be or should be at least brought out right to the table.
For example we don’t get involved enough with some of the local events around the community that are going on. It seems like it’s too dry lined by just having events that everybody’s aware of already most of the time instead of being a little bit more deep in getting really connected to the culture of certain events that are going on in the community. What people really are looking for is something that they wouldn’t normally do rather than doing all the normal stuff -- like one of the things that we haven't done for a while is Frisbee golf. Also NASCAR racing -- I think they should have an event for going to Joliet and Chicago to the race. We could do it along with the Chicago group because we’ve done other events and camping with them before and this will be a way for us to connect more with that group. Also going to more sporting events.
When it comes to events, there are some things that I would do on a regular basis and other ones that I would maybe choose not to because they're too expensive. We already had to pay a lot to be a member. Right now I’m not paying much for lifetime membership but I invested and I already I spent well over $3,000 to $4,000 on this. A lot of the events seem to be expensive. Some of them I understand you need $5 or whatever to pay for the snack or things provided. But most of the other trips that I had seen in the past eight years that I've been a member could be done with 40% to 50% of what they were wanting to charge for the same thing. I know that it’s arranged and it takes a lot of time to manage, prepare and plan for that kind of stuff ahead of time but then when you have to still pay for an airfare to get to the place, that’s another big chunk of money on top of it and it makes it less affordable for most people.
But it’s a case by case situation. In general I think that the trips that were designed by the group cost excessively although the Grand Canyon trip which is including Vegas for $2,000 is not a bad price, and the one to Hawaii was not a bad price if you were able to do double occupancy (I was hoping to go on the Hawaii Trip through them but it didn't turn out for me because I couldn't find somebody to go travel with me to make it affordable).
On the whole, Events and Adventures is a worthy investment if you look at the positives of it. I have gained a lot of friends and I have learned a lot of social ethics and my social skills have been improved by the group. There's definitely value that I put into this. This is a group that can provide an opportunity to grow and get out and do things with likeminded people that enjoy doing things they like to do too.

I'm new in town and looking to meet new people. My first event with Events and Adventures turned out to be fun. They did a good night introduction. After that, I have done the game night, where I did a football game, and Galveston for New Year's Eve. I have made some friends in joining those activities. I, however, haven't done a ton recently due to my work as I've been on the road. I am looking forward to doing some of the travelling later on this year when things slow down with work. Also, the location of the events is inconvenient for me so it is hard for me to get to some of them. Nevertheless, I recommend Events and Adventures to other people who are single and are struggling with their social life.

I joined Events & Adventures because I felt it would allow me to be with people to do things with. I live in Arizona and I don't have any relatives close by and I was coming out of a 17-year relationship too. When I got myself online, they said that they check everybody out before they find anybody up, which I don't think they do - they simply ask questions and tap in on your emotions. I also never knew at the time that it was gonna cost me anything and I didn’t know things were gonna be so far because I’m not close and they said everything is gonna be mostly in this area... So far though, I've attended four events and I’ve gotten to have fun in all four times. However, I haven't exchanged numbers with anybody yet; I just talk with them at events.

I joined Events and Adventures last year and I try to go to about two or three activities per week. There have been a couple of weeks that there wasn't anything that interests me or just couldn't make it one way or another. The activities I joined include Tuesday night volleyball until I hurt my knee, an art tour event, went to several dance lesson events, dinner and went to the Valentine party.
The events tend to lean towards drinking and partying and I'm kind of done with that but I enjoy the people that I've met. I've met some new friends, female friends, all singles which is really, really nice. I made some acquaintances with men too, which leads to my biggest complaint: when I signed up, I was told that there were plenty of men and I have not met anybody my age. They're all pretty young. On the plus side I enjoy going to the events. I like a lot of the physical activities and the dancing and occasional dinner.

I want to go out but I don't have anyone to go out with. When I heard about Events & Adventures as a singles club, I was attracted to it. I try to do at least five to ten activities a month depending on what's going on for the month. I've done scuba diving, a lot of pool events, sports events, etc. This past weekend, Saturday, we went to the hungry room where the zombies are chained up. The evaluator figured we were all working together because we saved each other--we are of different nationalities and sizes of people but we've become friends, which is wonderful about being in this club.
Now I go out with people outside the group. We go to dinner, shows, and went to plays together. I'm taking friends away from the group and I go out with them also with the group. Events & Adventures always have things for the young people age group but I hope they would also come up with activities for our age group since we sometimes feel out of place. But I’ve had a really good time and enjoyed everybody which we would’ve never met. If we were just out in the street, we would never talk to each other. We look forward to seeing each other.

I can't get into all the things that Events and Adventures does but I've enjoyed my experience with them. Sometimes I just wish I can do more but I'm so busy with work. I've joined some events but not nearly as much as what I've invested in. I'm still very pleased because it was an experience for me. It was me experimenting with something new, so I take it one step at a time. Once, I wanted to do the evening bicycle ride but it skipped my mind and I didn't get around to doing that. I haven't had a chance to really explore it.
I'm 53 and I think there are some activities that they could do to attract people in my age bracket. Their activities looked very youthful which really appealed more to the young and there are some things I probably wouldn't do because of my age. But it was still good overall. I wasn't sure in the beginning if this is something for young people or not but I'm still pleased with my experience.

I'm a newcomer and I've only done a few group activities and they were all great. I've made new friends. We went out to the Mystery Theater, a Japanese restaurant, a small burlesque show, and to Shedd Aquarium. The first event I went to was very well organized with signs put out where I can meet people so I was satisfied with it.

Since joining Events and Adventures, I've met some nice people. Everyone's nice and sweet. A friend who used to work at this place called The Melting Pot told me about Events and Adventures years ago when she saw a group of people who were involved with them come in. And recently, I've been hearing about it on the radio which is one of the reasons why I went in and joined the group. I went to the dance night where we went out to a club. I also went to the mixer, like a game night at the Events & Adventure house and also to the Museum of Fine Arts. But my favorite event was a tie between the dodge ball that we did at sky zone or wally ball which we did at a rec center - the more active events. I also went to a Rockets game this past weekend. Those were pretty good events.

Events and Adventures has been fun and interesting. I've had around fifteen events and trips with them. The best I've been to was when we went to this bingo hall in the heights. There were only ten people but we all sat there, hung out, chit-chatted and got to know each other. But I actually have a big, giant complaint from the last event that I went to. It was the Rockets game on Saturday. Me and two other people were seated separately - like really far away - from the rest of the group. We really couldn't talk to them and it was really kind of awkward. I pay a lot of money monthly and for that ticket for the lower level seat, but we were sat in a completely different area. If you can't get all of the seats together then just don't say you have X amount of seats. I thought that was kind of horrible. And I feel like there needs to be a little more communication on the website as to what the event is. But for the most part, it's been good.

The idea of getting married again made me join Events & Adventures. I've been to eight or nine events/trips already and my favorite so far was the volleyball. I'm very outdoorsy and I'm really not that into dancing so I'd love if they have more outdoor events like hiking - like their previous one in Cupertino. If they can have more hiking events in South Bay that'd be perfect. Unfortunately, I haven't made new friends yet. Maybe because I'm new and people are a little apprehensive. But still I enjoy and have a good time.

On my arrival to my first event with Events and Adventures, I wasn't sure if it's going to be a good fit since I've never done anything like this before and I've only been single a short period of time - I'm a widow. I much rather be able to meet people and let the rest just fall naturally. But I tried it anyway because it seemed like it was a good concept of getting out there and meeting people. Now that I've attended some events, I'm enjoying it a lot. There's just one event at the Perot Museum that ended up not being good but it was my fault - my plane was delayed, there were a lot of people that I didn't know, and so I was never able to hook up with anybody there.

I've been attending about 4 events a month and have been on about 20 events in 7 months. I’ve done volleyball, bowling, karaoke, Halloween party, football watching, and been at the bar and dancing. And I met my boyfriend through Events & Adventures about 6 months ago. I think it would be great if they could make the online side of things better, like an app. That would make things a lot easier to know what’s going on, to connect with events and just actually read it on your mobile phone.

I was feeling some loneliness in my life lately. I'm a Venezuelan who came here four years ago. I have been living alone for four years so I wanted a new, fresh start. I've been to a couple of groups these four years, but I wanted to meet new people. Events and Adventures got my interest when I heard about them on the radio.
My first event wasn't a good experience. I was expecting a warm welcome or at least an introduction to the group and the host of the event was not as good as I was expecting. I introduced myself to her that day. I told her it was my first event but she didn't even stand up from the chair she was sitting in or even introduce me to some of the members there. I stayed there a little bit longer, giving the host a second chance, but she remained on her seat so I left the place after 45 minutes. I complained about it to Holly who was the person who interviewed me the very first time, and she was really sorry and I understood that. She encouraged me to not quit going, so I still was trying for second chances. I've been in five or six events already and they have been really, really good so far. It's been really great.

I did a hike. I have done the pub crawl. I did the museum last night. But after I've attended these events, that feeling has changed. I haven't made new friends or found any significant others. I'm not offended by gay people whatsoever, but it seems to me that most of the men that are in this club are gay. I'm going to another one tonight, a pool and darts event. I hope it turns out better.

I've written my story below, but here's the bottom-line: DO NOT SIGN-UP WITH EVENTS AND ADVENTURES unless you can afford to pay the costs right up front. If you are willing to toss in a couple grand to this company and can afford the monthly dues as well as the costs for the events themselves on top of the dues, go for it. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself and meet lots of nice people. If you live on any kind of a budget, I would steer clear and visit other social groups offering truly free events. My other piece of advice before launching into my story, don't trust their sales people or their backroom deals.
Here's my story... I joined E&A after hearing commercials on the radio about how great it was and all the different activities. I work from home, so getting out and being social can be a challenge. Beyond making friends, I was hoping to meet a special someone. My big concern though: I live over an hour from the nearest club location. I decided it was still worth checking out and went to their office to learn more.
The sales person took me to a private office where he promised I could cancel at any time if I was unhappy or found the events too difficult to attend. He said the company didn't want people feeling forced to attend and they certainly didn't want to take money from people who weren't enjoying themselves. He said with the costs and interest in E&A, they were comfortable cancelling without obligation. Taking him at his word, I agreed to sign-up.
I found out after the fact, cancelling could only be accomplished by writing to the corporate headquarters within 3 business days of signing up. It was barely enough time for me to look at their calendar of events and see most were much further away than I originally thought. I wasn't able to attend my first event until over two-weeks after signing up.
Still, I trusted their salesperson and his promise I could cancel. After attending about 5 events over 4 months, I found attending to be too difficult and the events all had added costs. I also had some major life upheaval and it became nearly impossible to continue attending events, so I tried to cancel. I was told it was not an option, despite my circumstances, and all I could do was suspend my membership for up to 3 months, which would simply extend it that much longer. I took the offer in an effort to save some money for added bills, but they lied again and only approved me for 2 months. I'm considering small claims court, though I believe the law is on their side since I only had a verbal promise from their sales person in a back office. I haven't attended any events in nearly a year, but I'm still paying for it every month.
On a side note, I was also promised the monthly dues and overall membership costs went towards events, so most events were free. It was only on specific occasions, like overnight trips or when venues were selling food or drinks, where there could be added costs. He even showed me a print-out of their calendar from a previous month where a lot of the events said 'free'. Well, the dues probably do somehow discount some events, but I would say less than half the events were free. In some cases, I found it would be cheaper if I bought my ticket direct from the venue and meet the E&A group there, though because I hadn't signed up through E&A and paid their higher fee, I was not on the "guest list.” Since some events were free, I guess it went to some good use for someone.
Another note, some events take place at venues hosting large events, so Events and Adventures just gets a group of tickets to the overall event. In those cases, there is little coordination special to Events and Adventures beyond meeting their rep at the door for your ticket. If you go by yourself, you'll pretty much stay by yourself unless you start talking to strangers in the hope you find some who are part of your group. That was the last straw for me. I had paid for an event and, luckily, was able to meet up with one other person who was part of the E&A group, though I was told there were about 30 others amongst the hundreds attending the larger event.
While I think they deserve 'no stars' for the lack of honesty and caring for their members, I did still meet nice people; no lasting friendships, but I will accept giving them the one star for accomplishing this small feat. Like I said in the beginning though, the best advice I can give you, pay the whole cost right up front or don't pay at all.

My first event with Events and Adventures was the 20th anniversary of the Houston Clubhouse. I still needed to get my parents from the airport so it was a little weird because I was there but I wasn’t really there. Thankfully for my future events, I was much more comfortable and got the vibe of the group. I was going to these events about four times a week. We've done dinner and a movie, going to an arcade, happy hours, bowling, parties at the clubhouse as well, Halloween parties. I really enjoy the group and think it's a lot of fun. To be honest, the cost is a bit high but I do enjoy being a part of it. I haven't gone to any events for a little bit now so I’m trying to get my schedule organized so I can start going again. I've done four or five events so far with Events and Adventures - Trivia Night, Valentine's Day group activity, and New Year's. You meet a lot of new people in an open setting and have a good time. It's a great way to meet new people for new ideas. But I think choosing an event that isn’t so close to an actual holiday where people are traveling would be a better idea for most of it overall for future reference because of several cancellations and it turns into a couple of last people that are there.

I can imagine some people would be a little bit apprehensive and nervous. But it depends on the personality of the person. Not for me...I was optimistic and excited when I attended my first event with Events and Adventures. I'm pretty confident so I went to this event and met new people, and socialized. This past Valentine's Day, we had our own private party and had our own impromptu kind of performance and it was exclusive to the club, and that was great. And later on, it opened up to the public. In the middle of December there was an ugly sort of party and it was again private, so just the club. The indoor skydiving was pretty fun.
But there's a struggle between the city and the suburbs in setting up where the events will be held. Here in Chicago there are a lot of members that are in the city and there are a lot of members that are in the suburbs, and I think it's difficult for the events coordinator to satisfy everybody. It's this tug of war, going back and forth between demand for events out in the suburbs and demand for events in the city. Even between the suburbs there's the northwest, the west, the south suburbs. It will eventually be far for everybody unless it's in the city. Sometimes there's a calendar for the other metropolitan areas in the suburbs. I think there might be enough members for there to be simultaneous events in the city and two of the suburbs too. On a positive note, this is all fun things to do. There's been plenty of mingles.

I've joined two of their events and I've got a third coming up Saturday. The first event was a get-together at a local sports bar. We were gonna play a game but that didn't really work out because they had changed the timing there due to a Blackhawks game. But that was fine because the event gave me more time to talk to people. I've joined the same sort of events for many years. I try to get to know other persons and let them know a little bit about me. I didn't get to know everybody, but it was good -- it was a very nice crowd and I was glad that I went.

This company lied about the terms of my membership then treated me like I had no right to challenge them. I was signed up back in September and now it is January and I have not been going to any events. Here's why. I was told that the price breakdown of my membership every month was put towards the events that "cost" money and when I asked why I needed to put in a credit card number, she told me it was simply to confirm my identity. When I saw that this was in fact, not true after checking my credit card statement and seeing I had been charged, that was when I stopped signing up for things and started trying to get some answers.
For the first month of my membership, there was no getting a hold of my home office. They moved office spaces and disconnected the phone, giving members no warning of this. It wasn't until this month that they posted a generic 800 number for the Philadelphia office. I have been given three different answers now regarding a mythical 3 day cancellation policy. When the member director at my home office finally called me back after I called corporate on her, she told me there was no such thing as a 3 day cancellation policy. But a customer service rep from their FL office told me there was and so did the Member Accounts person who responded to a claim I filed with my local consumer affairs office. She said it was in the contract about the 3 day cancellation.
No, it isn't. Even if I had written the registered letter within the 3 days, if this cancellation policy even exists, the address to write to is not on the website, and when you do a search for it online, about 3 or 4 different addresses come up. I was given an incorrect address from the "customer service" rep I spoke to and the first time I ever saw the real address was when my consumer affairs claim was answered by someone in the corporate office via her letter head.
Added to this, I was not able to get a hold of the office until this 3 days went by anyway... hmmm... what a coincidence. They intentionally make it difficult to get in contact with them with anything. My home office was disconnected with no warning and I was lied to big time about the terms of my membership. At this time I'm wondering if anything would hold up if I decide to take this to court. This company is shifty and treats its members with evasiveness and disregard.

This entity is a scam to the Nth degree. My situation: I expressed interest online because I was interested in joining. They almost immediately sent me a follow up email and then call to set up an in person interview. I went in and had the interview. There was a lot of talk, HARD SELLING, and pomp and circumstance. When we went over the contract, I asked about cancellation. I was told I could cancel at anytime. I even tried to write this in. She said, "look there it's already there." Based on her verbal statement, I thought she wouldn't lie to me. She knew explicitly that I wanted to write in her statement about cancellation within 2 months (same time frame as time frame for changing my membership type) but she assured me that the written agreement left room for that agreement. The buy in was steep, in the THOUSANDS. I paid a sum up front by giving a credit card authorization for a future date certain. The rest of the payment was to be taken via monthly credit card transactions.
When I returned home, I realized that the timing of the credit card payment would clash with other payments I needed to make. I called Events and Adventures and spoke with Rene again, the person I met with in person. She assured me that she would call their accounting office and would have them delay the draft by a few days in order for my finances to be well spread out. That is not what happened. On the initial date set out, they took the money. As a result, I was unable to make some other payments until later. I called and spoke to Rene again. She said that she would call accounting and get the draft reversed. Again this did not happen. I called again, no answer or return call from Rene. I called my bank and disputed the charge. My bank gave me a provisional re-credit and access to my funds. After some time, my bank reversed the provisional re-credit and said that Events and Adventures had given them a copy of the contract. (Of course, they had not called me back.)
I attempted to escalate this to the corporate headquarters to no avail. I initially called the headquarters near the time of the reversing of the re-credit. I was given the run-around. I then called some weeks later to speak to the cancellation department. I spoke to a guy named Robert. After some days of back and forth to get in touch with him, he said he would contact the Houston office and have them contact me. This was before the holidays in 2014. No one ever contacted me. I called him again in January 2015. He again said my only form of recourse was talking to the Houston office. I told him I just wanted a refund and had not received any benefit from my bargain. He didn't care. The whole thing stinks of fraud!

Events and Adventures is a casual way to meet people without a lot of pressure or awkwardness, unlike online dating. Since February I've attended quite a few activities and generally like the active ones, the sports, when they play football or Frisbee or volleyball. The one feedback that I would give, not necessarily positive but not negative either, is that the financial aspect of it is a little bit high even after you join because some of the events that you go to are more expensive than if you just went by yourself. There are free events and that's good but I get irritated when I'm paying more for a ticket than the face value. I feel like I'm ripped off. I'm not saying I'm super unhappy. I'm just saying that kind of gives me a bad feeling whenever that happens. It doesn't give me an overall awesome impression.

On attending my first 4 events, I was a little bit nervous at first and then I was fine. I have attended 5 trips and events and my favorite is the swing dance. I have no coordination and no rhythm but I still had fun. I’ve made new friends and they're old people. Normally, I’d just stay at home watching TV or babysitting my niece and nephew but this experience has been a good opportunity for me to branch out and have fun. So, being able to get out and say “Oh yeah, I’m going dancing or I’m going to concert!" It has given me a new outlook and I’m excited. I’ve recommended it to several people.

It was on a radio spot with Mark the owner, giving his “hi-how-you-doing?” that I first heard about Events & Adventures. I liked the idea that they stated in the beginning it is for singles just to get out and have fun and meet others and it isn’t necessarily a “hey this is a big dating hook-up deal.” I like that it is open, honest, and approachable. I was nervous during the first event. But I travel and have had an opportunity to work in a whole lot of different environments, so I’m not afraid of meeting new people. I was anxious to meet new people. Period. Someone that I could hang out with, let's go bowling or let’s do this or let’s do that. I was looking forward to it. But again, there’s always that nervous “oh am I gonna make a good first impression?”
I haven’t done any of the big trips but on an average I do at least one thing a week and/or two or three things. Like last night, I went to the casinos. We could eat or not eat, whatever we want to do. But we all just hung out and get to know one another a little bit more one on one. I’ve also done the fun night school, putt golfing, salsa dancing and bowling. I do like that they have a high degree of interesting things to do and a lot of variety.
They have some superb hosts, which is very important. It’s a small situation but some are extremely gregarious and welcoming, and they make sure everyone feels welcome. Others are a little bit quieter, etc. It’s very important they always have a point person that’s easier to identify. They are a fun group. It’s what I thought it would be. I have recommended Events & Adventures to others and invited some to go with me as a guest so they can experience it and decide if it’s something that fits them too.

I joined at the end of August and I've been to about 15 events. I liked the horseback riding but it was short; I would have loved a longer session, but it was memorable. The Games Night was a lot of fun. It made me feel involved in something and there wasn't a whole lot of pressure to find someone to talk to, to just kind of wander around. Volleyball is always a great activity, not just sitting around and drinking; you're getting out there and moving around.

If you pay that kind of money and you don't go to events, you're not going to meet people.

What drew me to Events & Adventures are their activities. I was a bit anxious arriving at the first event but it went pretty good. I have now attended around 20 events. My favorite activities are football and soccer, movies, and the Monday Mingles. I've made a few friends. I'm not much of an outgoing person but it is good. I really like Events & Adventures. They give equal opportunity to everyone. It's exciting.

After a very long marriage I’m just getting out of, I got bored and wanted to meet new people and have fun, instead of sitting in my apartment so joined Events and Adventures. At my first event, I was excited to meet new people, see if we'd have fun and go from there. I’ve been to 7 events and my favorite so far is the Halloween party. I’ve also participated in the cosmic bowling that was fun and Postinos, which is a wine and bruschetta bar that was nice and volleyball, which I usually do on Tuesdays. I have made a lot of new friends and I’m looking for a significant other. The people are really great, the hosts are varied, and everybody seemed upbeat and all on the same page. It was an awesome good time.

Some people told me about Events and Adventures and I looked into it. I’m going through some difficult times right now. I’m separated from my husband, so I’m for meeting some new friends and do some activities and go back to my old me. My first event was a camping trip and it was great. I have attended about ten events and so far my favorite is whitewater rafting. I have made new friends, but I’m quite surprised that not most people show up at the event. I see on the website how many people are supposedly on Events & Adventure. I’m wondering why most people don’t attend the events. But if somebody is looking for fun and going to some events, their planning is nice.

I had been on a lot of dating sites and there was one that I paid for but then I thought I’d rather pay to have some fun and go out and meet some people instead of this virtual dating. It was just pointless to me. The experience with Events & Adventures has been great. I’ve enjoyed the club. I haven’t really been able to go out and experience it, but the four that I’ve been to so far, I’ve had a total blast every time I’ve gone. It’s a matter of getting some of these other family issues out of the way and then I can start going wherever.
The first event I attended was a meet-and-greet; that was fun. I was nervous because I didn’t know what the group was. I went to an awesome party on a Sunday and to a bar, less than two miles from where I live, for a Halloween party. And then this last one was a costume party. I had a good time. Meeting new people, guys and girls alike, is cool. It’s a new experience where I’ve met so many people and I’ve learned some cool things. It’s an eye-opening experience. The only problem with the club is trying to pay for it because it’s expensive. That’s the only issue, and it’s not really an issue.

What really interested me about the club is the opportunity to learn more about the city, the state and meet new people. I've attended about 4 or 5 events with them. I’ve done bingos and theater showing. My favorite so far was the hockey game. One thing that’s showing up: it started to turn to more like a clique party, so a lot of events where there are some new people. The “veterans” to events just kind of group up and do their own thing.

I didn't have a lot of single friends and signed up with Events & Adventures because I wanted things to do and to meet people. I did not want to worry about feeling awkward going out. My first event was not bad because I had gone to their office and met a couple of people and they're in the club. They were so nice, so I was pretty excited about it. So far I've attended 50 events and trips. Their New Year's Eve event was a really fun one. It was an overnight at a hotel. I've done volleyball, whirlyball, going out to dances and clubs on weekends, sleigh ride, and skydiving which was my favorite. I've actually not been to as many events in the last two months because I've been skydiving too much, but two of my friends from Events & Adventures also are now skydiving a lot and we're getting our licenses. I was talking about doing some new things with a friend and he brought Events & Adventures up to me, so I went and checked it out, and gave it a try. What interested me most about it is that it's a singles club. The more you got out of high school, the harder it is to meet new people. During my first event, I felt excited, more curious than anything else, to see what it's gonna be like. I have attended six events now. My favorite one was the first one I went to - the Corn Maze. I've done a couple of the Happy Hours. This past Sunday, I did the Archery Shooting. There are a couple of Happy Hours coming up, and I'm signing up for those.
I've met people, but I don't know if I've really established relationships with anybody. I'm not exactly talking to anybody outside of the event. One of the things that would be helpful is knowing who's going to be at an event, because a lot of times, I go to an event and find out everyone there is 45 or older, and at that point, I no longer have much interest in hanging out. Overall, it's a unique experience to meet new people.

I was living in Saint Louis and Events & Adventures had radio ads going. And then when I moved here to the Virginia area, they had similar radio ads and I didn't know anybody. I was drawn to joining them because of the word adventure and after doing a little bit of digging on the organization, that was like the sort of thing that I would have fun doing. I was terrified before arriving to the first event. I'm introvert by nature but ultimately, it worked out really quite well.
The past couple of months I have dropped off a little bit in attending events - around four to seven events a month. I'm digging athletic events. For instance, we went to a trampoline park once and that was pretty spectacular. I also like hiking, climbing or winery things. Anything that gets me out of the house when I do manage to have free time is pretty desirable.
The biggest thing I've noticed, especially with the Washington area, is that it encompasses essentially DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. And the area is quite a spread so it can be interesting. But some months, it seems to weigh more heavily towards Virginia. Some months, it seems to weigh more heavily towards Maryland. So it's almost like a bi-monthly sort of circumstance. The way my work schedule is, for instance, it's just not really feasible to get to Maryland unless it's a weekend. But other than that, it works pretty well.

And we pay all this money out of pocket. It's outrageous how much we pay to be in the group and if we're going to pay all this money for an event or for the group mainly, then there should be these plans that are covered completely by our money that we pay for the group. We also have a new director of events and she is not a people person. I don’t feel she should be in that position at all.

I've had been on five trips and due to go on round trip in a couple months. The E & A team, especially when Lauren was there, aligned with Alpine is just a winning combination. They just make every single international trip great. Its well-planned out, well thought out and we have a wonderful time with each other. I spent two weeks in New York and I think I did two or three events with the New York group while I was there on vacation. I've done brunches and hockey games and taste fine wine so it’s been a few events. Not as many as I probably would have liked but enough that I've had a great time. I joined Events & Adventures because it was supposedly activities geared towards single people. I was curious at first as to how it was going to play out. I have attended around 15 events. I did a Fourth of July fireworks thing, a harbor cruise which was fun and really stands out. The other ones are just like regular get together with friends. They were all meet for drinks or meet for dinner.
The problem that I had with Events & Adventures is the expense of being in the group and then on top of it having the expense of other activities. Like if I wanted to go horseback riding, I would also have to pay to go horseback riding. I pay the membership fee or the cost to join, plus I got the added expense of doing other stuff. So the only thing that were not necessary that I have to pay extra for would be like I met out for dinner or drinks then just pay your own weight.
My membership expired a few weeks ago and I don't plan to renew. Nobody has reached out to me to see about renewing but my biggest drawback was the sheer cost of the program and the added cost of doing extra activity. I would think for the amount that I was paying to be a part of the group that the cost of the activities would be included in that price. If that was the case, then I would absolutely renew because they did have a lot of things listed on the calendar, and the people that I did meet at some of the events were all nice. It's not that I had a bad time, it's just that I can go to dinner and meet for drinks for people I already know without paying the membership fee.

Events and Adventures is terrible. It was deceptive. When I met people who also were first joining, they thought it was very deceptive as well. I understand it's for singles and everything, but maybe their ad shouldn't say the words, "It's better than a service." They promote the dating service, but then when people get upset about it, they said they're not a dating service. I spent a lot of money. I really wish I did get money back. I put it on hold, I never went back. I went to all the events cause my friend told me to go try at least six of them, and it was awful. I snuck out of two of them and it was the same people. They were very cliquish. I told people who were excited because they wanted to try it too, not to do it. It's not what you're looking for. It's false advertising. Take the dating part out of your advertisements; if that's not what it's about, take it out.
They give people false hope and I think that's ridiculous. I want people to know, this is not a dating service at all. If you are new to the area and you want to meet some people, fine. But absolutely do not go into this thinking at all that you'll meet somebody because you'll be seriously disappointed. And if you're already doing stuff with your friends who are single, and you're already going out to these events, honestly don't do it. I've been to events where I see Events & Adventures people and I'm like, no. I can't even stress to you how deceptive I feel it is. I did the interview and everything. That's a lot of money and they suckered a lot of people into it. Every time I hear the commercial, I get so mad because I spent $1500 and I got zero out of it.

So the only comment I have is for events where you go to places that are a little more crowded, if it’s not in a restaurant or where they have reservations, maybe there should be a set area / designated area where people meet instead of trying to go in there and search for people, walking around trying to figure out who’s who.

There's usually a lot of other new members that makes it a little easier just cause you all have something in common, that you're new. All the events I've been to were all pretty fun. But I haven't gotten to do anything of the stuff I wanted yet because of my work schedule. I joined the 20s and 30s mingles, went on the Arlington cemetery tour, one of the icebreakers and the Murder Mystery dinner which was fun. I've made some new friends and met some nice people. I've been a member of the Tampa, FL Events and Adventures group for almost 3 years. It was outstanding and I met a lot of really nice people. The events were varied and interesting, always organized and fun, until about 3 months ago when the Event Coordinator left. Now we have multiple days each month when there are no scheduled events. The events that are scheduled are unorganized. For example when attending a new member mixer, we had no reserved area and no wait staff assigned to our group. Name tags were left on the table for the members to use and the host (who is also the event coordinator) was sitting in a booth far away from the rest of us. She did not mingle or even bother to introduce new members to anyone. This is not the kind of service I had come to expect from E&A.
Others have told me stories of traveling 45 minutes to find that an event was cancelled but no one had bothered to let them know. Addresses of meeting places are incorrect. There was even an instance of an event at a Farmer's Market In September - problem was that the Market wouldn't be open until October. Obviously the Event Director is not doing her job. I was new to the area and joining Events and Adventures was a good way to meet not necessarily significant others but other people with similar interests. It was something different other than online dating. I'm a young professional and trying to be active. It's a good way to do some fun events with not a lot of strings attached or no pressure.
I have only been to three events so far. There were some events that sounded really good but I couldn't go on because they conflicted with work. I liked the more adventurous ones like the whitewater rafting and the rock climbing, and I know they don't do those very often. The schedule they have for this month is really bad so I haven't done anything this month and I don't think I'm going to so I was really disappointed with that. This is like the best month to be outside and there's not a lot that they offer and I thought there would be a lot more hikes, haunted houses or corn mazes but they would just go bowling. I would go on a drive to see fall leaves and everything is inside. I find it very strange. Last month was good because they had lots of good stuff.
I've enjoyed myself when I had fun out. I've met a couple of nice people that I've seen again at other events and adventures. That's been good. But I haven't hung out with them outside of the events. And I have not met a significant other yet. Insider advice from some of the other people, generally they said more of the younger folks go to the more active events. I went to a wine tasting and I was by a good 10 years the youngest one there. So I don’t know if certain events maybe they should put different age ranges on. I don’t know if people wouldn’t show up though.
Anyway, my experience with E&A has been, generally, positive. So I’m sticking with it at this point. But I do wish the next month calendar was out sooner. I know November is still not posted and we're halfway through October. But I have to schedule work events like three months in advance, it would be great to know what is coming up much sooner. However, I was under the impression that the money that we were spending would go towards reducing- or at least there would be an effort in reducing the cost of activities and they would try to get us specials for when we got there. None of that is happening.
All of us are relatively unhappy with what's been happening as far as our event coordinator not helping us. She's just not really putting all the effort. She schedule an event and we all show up, that's pretty much all that happens. But when you're paying a lot of money, you kind of hope that there's a bit more of an effort in the sense of she makes sure that we all have enough seating for example, or we get some discounted rates because we show up with 10 to 20 people, something like that. And that's not happening. I was just hoping to find some more professional people, which I have, which is cool. But that's really all it is. Like a price to join a club, to hangout with more professional people, as opposed to a price to pay that gets you better rates on socialize or doing things at other locations.

Events and Adventures was recommended by a family member. When I first went to my meeting, I didn't know anything about it. I hadn't done much research. I didn't even know it was something I had to pay for. I thought it was more like a meet up type group so I went along to learn some information. And then I ended up signing up. I haven't had any experience with it yet. My job is so incredibly busy right now that I haven't actually gone to a single event which is frustrating because I've signed up and I'm paying for it and I don't have time to go to the event. I felt like the woman who was talking to me about the program was extremely pushy and I told her, "I don't really feel comfortable signing up for this right now. I'd like to go back home and think about it because I need to look at my work schedule and see how I could commit to make it worthwhile." And she said to me, "In my experience, you will walk out of here and never come back so if you don't sign up for it now, don't bother." And I found that was a very, very unpleasant experience and I ended up signing up because of the pressure she was putting on me, which is my fault, not exactly her fault.
I'm paying a hundred and something dollars a month for something I unfortunately cannot take part in because I work 12-hour days. So it's extremely frustrating and I can't get out of it because it's a contract. So I'm currently trying my best to sign up for events and see if I can make it. But then I was also disappointed to get an email today telling me that if I don't go to the events I signed up for, I'm now going to be charged extra money for not canceling in time. The nature of my job is that I don't know when I'm going to be working or not so I don't always have the ability to give advance notice if I can't make it to an event. So it's disappointing because I was really looking forward to being involved in some of the events. They all looked really fantastic and I'm still new to my area and really don't know a lot of people so it would be beneficial to me.
I'm just not very happy with how the sign-up process went and subsequently the flexibility on me being able to attend events when I'm already paying a monthly fee for that. So I understand the frustration if someone doesn't cancel but so far, I haven't signed up for any events that I would have to prepay for. Anyway, that's kind of what my experience is at the moment. I am working very hard to change some of my work hours so I have a little bit more social time. So hopefully, I will be able to take better advantage of it.

I heard Events and Adventures from one of my friends. I went to about 20 trips and I wasn't very impressed with it.
Reviewed Sept. 28, 2014
Myself and my friend went to this group with the intentions of meeting new single people in our age group (40+). We had to go to an interview. Upon arrival we were separated and taken into two different rooms. We had two diff. females 20-30 y/o interviewing us. I was asked why I wanted to join. I was asked what did I do for entertainment, and what was I hoping to get out of this membership. I was also asked about what I did for a living and how much did I make a year.
After this, I was presented with the membership options of 1 year 2 year or 3 year option. I was told the prices in full - 1 year $2355 paid up front. I asked why the membership was so expensive. I was told it was due to the fact everything would be paid for up front. I was asked what I usually paid for eating out and entertainment on a weekly basis. Then I was told, by buying this membership, I would be saving money because everything was included. I would pay for nothing else. I was also told to go to as many events as possible to get my money's worth. I was given the example of a Texan game event. I was told it included very good seats and a VIP dinner buffet which included a variety of seafood steak etc. I was told this was an example of the events that would be included in the membership fee.
I was also told, I could cancel at any time and get a refund of the membership fee that I did not use. I was not told, that they only had a 72 hour cancellation to get a full refund. I found this out later. It is written in small print on the contract they have you sign. but they do not make an effort to point this out. I joined the membership paying for this in full. The membership is not cheap. This is expensive. Myself and my friend went home excited about the Texan game. We went to our event calendar to sign up and what did we see, a $250 price tag attached to this event. We were confused. The only event that we could attend did not come around till the following week.
We went to a karaoke event, which was at a bar which is free and open to the public. While there we noticed everyone was buying their drinks. Nothing was paid for, like I was told when I signed up. Once again we left disappointed. Also there were only 1 or 2 other people in our age group. The age group for this membership is 20-30 not 40 and above.
The next event we attended was at the black swan club. I called the host to ask what was included, I was told nothing. She informed me that if E and A paid for anything it would be listed in the event calendar. Once again this was a free event, open to the public. E and A paid for nothing. The members at this event were once again 20-30.
We decided to try once more. We went to a country dancing event. The calendar stated to show up at 7:30 because after 8 there was an charge to get in. Myself and my friend went, we got there at 7:20. We found the tables they had reserved with E and A on them. Other members began to show up. We were all sitting around waiting for the host. Around 8:10 or so we see a male and female walk in. The male was carrying a clipboard so we figured that was the host. He walked right by us and went to the bar. They ordered some drinks and were talking, looking back at us. Finally they walked over to the group. We could all tell. The host did not want to be there. Needless to say this event was a disaster. The host was doing shots with his girlfriend and having a good time on his date. The few older members left early and did not stay. One member told me, "This is not what I signed up for, there is nobody here my age. I did not sign up to be the oldest person in the group." She then left. Most of the people at this event were 20-30 y/o.
I contacted the accounting office to inquire about a refund. I was told to write a letter which I have done and mailed it by certified mail. I have sent emails to the corporate office about the misrepresentation of this group. I have been told that there are absolutely no refunds, whatsoever. I believe this is why this club pushes for you to pay in full. It's easy to quit paying the monthly membership fee versus having to give money back.
I've even informed the head office that this club was misrepresented to me. I would not have joined if I had been told the truth. That this is an expensive event planning service with 72 hrs to cancel and you still pay for your own food, drink, and everything else. I still don't understand what my $2355 is paying for. All the events we attend are free anyway and open to the general public. An example of our events are gong to clubs where it is free before a certain time, or having lunch at a specific restaurant that has specials that you still have to pay for.
Before I joined this club, I asked about the age range of the members and was told it was all professional people in their 40s and above. I specifically asked this. I did not want to join a club that was geared toward people in their 20s and that is exactly what this club is all about. Also the Houston office charges people according to what they can afford, that is why they ask all the financial questions. We have found out the younger newer members are paying differently from those of us 40 and above. The older members are pressured into paying the $2355 up front. The younger are put on payment plans ranging from $75/month to $250 and then they are given 2 years free. The older members I am finding out are paying the $2355 and given 6 months free. One new member in his 20s was given a 9 month membership for a little over a thousand. I was told there were only 3 memberships 1 year, 2 year or 3 years, nothing less.
Needless to say I have been trying to get my money back minus this month and all I'm being told is there are absolutely no refunds whatsoever. This club does not give a refund after 72 hrs. There are only 2-3 events I can go to out of the month. Most of the events happen during the week, when I am at work. The events are mainly geared toward people in their 20s. Example this month's events were going to the beach, playing volleyball, go cart riding, booze cruise on a boat. All of these events are open to the general public anyway. These events are free. E and A pays nothing. The booze cruise had a fee attached to it - of course that the member pays. I would not mind paying these small fees if I had not paid the huge amount of $2355. I still do not understand what this huge fee pays for, and I cannot get an answer. I cannot get my money back. I am very dissatisfied with this membership and obviously this company does not care.

I heard about Events & Adventures from an advertisement on the radio. What interested me the most about the club is to just go out to meet new people and do stuff. I remember I was nervous before arriving at my first event. But after that I probably attended about 20 to 25 events. I’ve done boxing, hikes, the mingles, and the premier nights. The best trip that I've done was the fly fishing. In the process I've made some new friends. Overall, I would say it’s been fun, being able to do stuff that I’d like to do with other people.

I was nervous before my first event, but it changed considerably after getting there. Since I joined Events and Adventures I’ve attended probably close to a hundred events like pottery painting... so many different events. I had a great time at the Extreme Adventure Course up in Flagstaff. We've done a couple of events at the Improv Comedy Club - that was a lot of fun. And we’re going to the movies on Sunday.
There have been a lot of nice people. I’ve made a lot of friends and found a significant other through Events and Adventures. It’s great. I would definitely recommend it to anybody.

I’m very pleased with Events and Adventures. I first heard about them on the radio. I was single and had just relocated from out of state. I was looking to meet people that wanted to do more of the same thing that I wanted to do and have the financial means to be able to do those things. Before my first event, I was curious to see what it was all about. I had done a lot of meet-ups before where you don’t know anybody and you have to make new friends and talk to people, so I wasn’t really apprehensive.
Since then, I have probably attended 12 to 15 events each month. I had gone moonlight kayaking, go-cart racing, trampoline, dodge ball, several happy hours. On Saturday, I’m going skydiving. There have been a lot of them that I enjoyed, but my favorite was one of the house parties I went to. I met my significant other at that house party and we’ve been dating now for about three months. I’ve made new friends also. There are 15 of us that belong to Events and Adventures, and we also do stuff outside of E&A such as our plan to go to Vegas this Halloween.

I really like the rope climbing and Flagstaff and we're doing the kayaking tonight. I've been going out to dinner in different places. We went to the burlesque and hot air ballooning. I wanted to go sky diving. I haven't gone to that yet but it's definitely on the list. A lot of the events are a lot of fun. There's always something to do at least a couple nights of the week that I'm interested in. And I've made new friends and found a significant other.

We've had a New Year's Eve Party in Galveston. I went on a couple of trips with them. One was to Las Vegas. And then I went on another trip with them to Whistler, Canada. They have parties at the house once a month. They usually have get together and groups that do go out to eat or meet at bars or just do different things throughout the week. I was single. I don’t like being single. That's why I decided to join Events and Adventures. Since joining the club I have made new friends and that's about as close it has come to finding a significant other.
I have attended about a couple dozen events so far and personally I think it's misrepresented. You hear all the advertisements. You hear about all the fun stuff they do. There are a lot of trips that they do but I'm not the kind of guy who goes out of the country every month or does trips all that much. That's all that they really focus on. There's not a whole lot else that they tend to do, in my mind, that is something that I would do and not a lot of variety. In fact, this particular month, it's pretty dry. I think I'm going to a couple of bars this month and that's it.
A lot of these things they do too I don't feel like it's worth paying as much as I am paying per month to do these things. And then furthermore, a lot of them, they charge you anyway which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I can understand if we were to go to a bar, I've got to pay for a drink. That's one thing. But I'm going to some of these things, I'm going to this comedy thing on Friday, it's still going to cost me the admission to get in yet I'm paying monthly for the service. What I don't understand is why? The only thing I can think of is that it would go towards advertising costs...
Another problem is I'm locked in so there is not much of a choice that I've got -- a disappointment, personal opinion. And on top of that, there are times where I feel like maybe I should have tried on my own without the group stuff to do what I'm looking for before I tried it. I think there are some people in this group that are interesting but just not even close. I think that's more of a personal case where I'm a little more singled out in the fact that I don't feel like the kind of people that are in this group are the kind of people that I'm looking for. That's something that I wouldn't say is misrepresented but I probably should have thought about it a little clearer when I joined knowing that the kind of people who I urge to join are a little more desperate than I am for stuff like that. I'm pretty picky too, I'll be honest. Therefore, that's kind of where I stand. It does come on a little different sometimes.

Jackie is our coordinator here in Dallas and does an amazing job at picking events that suit every age range. During my interviewer I was deceived about how things are run, what their cost was, and through talking with people there we find that everybody has paid something different. Not to mention the aggressive salesperson relentless in getting a down payment when asking to think about it first. I understand the goal here but I can only think the binding contract is due to a large turnover. First off you pay ($30) a membership fee every month in addition to a monthly “member fee” ($100+) which all in all can end up costing you over $1500+ a year.
I'm also very disappointed with the fact that every event is in DC or elsewhere far from my area. Now the kicker is that even after being a paying member, you're also having to spend more cash on a majority of the events, money on gas and on time and everything to try to make up for the money that you’re GIVING AWAY to E&A. Unfortunately, you cannot leave the contract at any time. What's worse is there's not even an option to pay a penalty fee for canceling early. You have to pay the rest of the membership that hasn't been used. They've been told something different and also the caliber of people I would say that we were promised would be there hasn't been fulfilled at all. The experience is completely disappointing and deceitful. Overall, I would NEVER recommend this to anyone!

I'm recently single, so I was trying to meet people. I have a lot of friends that are married or involved with somebody so it's a little bit different dealing with them when you're the only single guy in the group. The first event was pretty low-key, it was just a little get-together in a hotel in San Francisco, so it wasn't anything spectacular. I wasn't nervous; I was just a little not sure exactly what to expect and who's gonna be there. It turned out to be a night, not a fantastic evening but a nice evening.
I've been a member for just over six months and there are some weeks where I do 2 or 3 events and another week I've got something going on and I don't do that many. There was also a couple of weeks I was out of town so I didn't do anything with them, but I try to do a couple of events per week. We did a trip to Vegas once; that was a lot of fun. It's a type of trip I wouldn't have done on my own, going to night clubs and stuff like that, but it was good to do it in a big group and I had a good time. Everybody was responsible for their own transportation there, and then they provided the hotel. It was a nice casino, it wasn't anything over the top, but it was clean, it was average.
Actually, I've got a big trip in August where I'm going on a river rafting in the Grand Canyon. Last weekend, we did a hike, and tomorrow I'm going on a bike ride with the group. I've made some friends and I've known a lot of people, but, I've not met that special person as of yet. Once they did a New Year's Eve party which I though was a nice event. They do some camping trips and I like camping, so that seems to be pretty good. And you've got a big group of people, so there's always somebody you know. Most people are anxious. Everybody there wants to meet other people and everybody is friendly and easy to talk to, so that's been positive. There've been some events where I had expected more out of that particular event, so I was disappointed, not that it was a bad event.
If you go to the events and you take advantage of the situation, if you sign up for it and you don't attend any events, you're wasting your money. The more events you go to and some of them cost money, some of them you just show up and you pay for whatever, if you're going to have beer or food or anything. Some have a higher fee, like the Grand Canyon; it's a little pricey but I think it's a good organization. I think everybody I've met there has been friendly; I haven't had any problems with anybody or any conflicts or anything like that with anybody. Everybody seems like they're friendly people enjoying meeting new people. I think it's good.

What got me interested in joining Events and Adventures was the variety of things that they offered in their calendar and a way to get to know the area and meet some people. I was a little nervous arriving at my first event. But it's fine because everybody's in the same boat: we're going to meet new people and try new things.
I'd come to probably a dozen trips and lots more events. I joined back in 1998 or 1997 or 1996 and I met a man and got married and of course I wasn't a member for a while and then when my husband passed away I rejoined a year or so ago. Now it's a little different. In the recent past I've been to I would say 6 trips and several events. I try to be active. Right now I'm planning to go to the Labor Day camp trip.
My favorite trip overall was jet boat trip to Hells Canyon in the Idaho border. It was really fun but that was back in the day. Most recently I really enjoyed the Whistler ski trip last fall. Accommodation was comfortable. Usually I try to get a single room because I'm used to being single and I prefer that but at Whistler we had housemates. We had rented a condominium so there were people to talk with and hang out with too as well as the whole group.
With my recent membership, I'm still trying to break through and get more social and do things like that. So if I want to meet people, it's up to me, but they're definitely there to meet.

I was really nervous before my first event because the type of people that I hang out with are bikers and living in roadhouses, just getting out in bars. But I got tired of bars, I don’t even drink. So I decided to try this out and everything went good. I heard about Events and Adventures through Facebook. It’s very interesting. I liked that I get to meet people of different types, races and cultures. And I just wanted to meet friends and hang out and see where it went. I’ve attended about 40% of the events that I came across. So far, game night is my favorite. Also anything that had to do with sports, shooting, martial arts, and stuff like that.
Some people that I meet understand me. I'm a person who comes on strong and I know that some people don't like that, and I was going to change that. But then I met some other people that like guys that are strong because they said, to them, a person that's strong is a person who cares. So I started hanging out with those people and then they started to introduce me to other people in the club and we just got our own little group. We all get along great.
The only thing that bummed me out is that when they told me they had a lifetime membership, that's a thing that I really like, but Events and Adventures don't offer that in Texas. Maybe they can work around that. So I just want them to talk to my manager, **. He’s a good guy and does a great job. I really wish there would be something about that lifetime membership. Some people that I met there only signed up for 6, 9 or 3 months. They would rather have a lifetime membership. The pricing is good but some people can't afford it. I'm struggling but I'm able to make my payments. But for me, everybody should get a chance at it.

This organization is great at overcharging you for a membership to attend events to meet new people. First off you pay a membership fee every month in addition to a monthly fee which all in all can end up costing you over $1000 a year. Now the kicker is that even after being a paying member, you're also having to spend more cash on a majority of the events. So with your monthly fees, you have to pay additional for the events themselves. Something as simple as a get together at a bar and somehow I have to fork out $40 plus to attend the event. The quality of people are no better than Meetup.com (which btw is completely free!).
Unfortunately you can not leave the contract at any time. What's worse is there's not even an option to pay a penalty fee for canceling early. The penalty.... you have to pay the rest of the membership that hasn't been used. Overall, I would never recommend this to anyone! Again, an alternative would be Meetup which requires no fees and is exactly the same concept as Events and Adventures!

I have been a member for almost a year. They do set up a variety of events and almost anyone can find something they enjoy doing. My only recommendation would be to have events on multiple locations in a given night. Where I live in the Chicago area makes it difficult to get to a lot of the events as most of them are in the city. So sometimes I feel like I don't get the most out of it because I have to travel so far to get to most of the events. It would be nice if they had a city event and a suburban event most nights of the week and had more of a variety of locations.

I have a lifetime membership and have been with them since 2000. My favorite trip so far is Africa. I've been to several trips and they're generally organized and they've led to some other trips, like my trip to New York on travel business ended up doing a pilot trip with friends, which is really great. That's not all we do... like river rafting -- nobody in my age group is interested in doing stuff like that. One thing I like about the trips is that there are people of all ages, so you get to find people in the group that's interested in doing what you're interested in doing. If I can do it with the young folks, they're happy to have me along, which is nice... I've made some new friends.
What I liked about Events & Adventures was it being around friends/activities rather than finding a date. I've brought several friends along and they liked them.

I was new to Chicago. I did not have any friends and did not know anybody. And the Events and Adventures radio ad I heard talked about that - about moving to a new city and not knowing anybody. I thought I'd check it out. It's also quite a few events and activities in Chicago, places I was new to at the time. And I just simply went to a lot of activities as well like sky diving and rafting. I was a little bit apprehensive at first and did not really know what to expect but that was a long time ago. I've been attending events since February of 2013. I've been to two camping trips and I plan to go to the Grand Canyon set in August and another camping for Labor Day. I have been to a few member meetings and dance events. I've been to two campings for Memorial Day, in 2013 and 1014. I've been to a lot of things really, a lot of clubs and bars and a few dinners. I made a lot of new friends who are now my close group of friends in Chicago.
The group of people I hang out with is really nice. But the events have changed since I first joined. Earlier, they were mostly centered in and around Chicago or downtown - much closer. But now there are a lot more suburban events that are much farther away. So that makes it difficult to go to those events. In fact, a few months ago, the kind of things bounce back... But a few months ago, things were very, very plain and simple, and nothing too exciting happening. The best part is the nice bunch of people I made friends with.

So far, I’ve attended around 15 or 20 different events: horseback riding, white water rafting, bonfire, Fourth of July. I even went on the trip down to Wisconsin Dells, and we had a blast. My experience with Events & Adventures was great. I've made lots of friends and I'm the host and I really enjoy it. I haven't been on any trips but I would say I've been to probably 60 events. My favorite was the Zombie Room Escape - we're basically locked in a room full of zombies. And there are a bunch of clues and riddles that you have to figure out within a certain time limit. Every ten minutes the zombie is unchained a little bit more. And our group got eaten, so to speak. But if you figure out all of the clues, you basically escape before the zombie eats you. I've also done one of those Murder Mystery dinners which I really liked because there's a bunch of clues and you got to figure out who the murderer is. I've also done the Cubs game and Sox games. I haven't found any significant others yet but I've made some great friends. E & A is a great club and I hope to continue to have new experience with them.

What really got me interested to Events & Adventures is my daughter when she turned 30, her husband had this big planned birthday bash for her and they invited me to go along. We went to Austin, Texas and we went zip lining. We stayed at a real nice motel overnight. And that is what prompted me to check it out and it sounded just exactly what I thought I was looking for. Not a dating service but activities with just all single people.
My first experience was really quite awesome. It was a nice group of ladies. There was one gentleman, maybe two, that showed up. I met a really good friend that night, someone that I did not know at all. As far as excursions where you travel, I’ve done the hot air balloon and I’ve done the Guadalupe tubing which is my favorite. I pretty much try to do the Volleyball Wednesday and hit an event on Fridays or Saturdays. I really want to do whitewater rafting in Las Vegas.
We have an awesome planner, Jackie, and she’s a great host and she is a serious host. She doesn’t put up with crap. Events & Adventures just given me an opportunity to meet some wonderful people and to venture out of my comfort zone and experience a lot of just fun-filled evenings. There was something special about the club to me that age does not seem to be a factor. It is a melting pot of people of all ages and no one cares about the age - young people intermingling with the older people and that is unique with this club. I have more friends and relationships with the younger people.

Some months I do 3, some months I do 2, but some months I do 7. I used to go a lot before. Just recently I stopped going to as many because I started going to grad school.
So far my favorite event was when we went to Cafe Nortal in May 2012. It was a dinner theater event. I remembered because it was my birthday, and I didn't have anyone to celebrate with; I didn't have a lot of friends. I just said, "I'm just gonna go to the event for my birthday." So I went to this event and I told the host, who knew me from before, “It's my birthday today." And he tells everybody, and everybody gets excited. Then we went in the theater and it was very special, artistic, and unique. Through that I made a lot of friends in the cast of the show and the Seattle theatre scene. Now I'm attending all their theatre shows on my own. Also, I got a date at the end of that event because one of the ladies in the club who was out there asked me out.It was "Wow, best birthday ever."
I am satisfied with Events and Adventures because all my goals for joining are being met. My goal is not to actually find someone to date; it's just to meet friends. But some of the events don’t relate to me, such as sports.

We did scuba diving but it was in like a big indoor pool. You had all the exact scuba gear, you’d go scuba diving in, but there’s no sharks around or jellyfish attacking you... you’re very safe.
I go to a weekly volleyball. That’s always a lot of fun. They also have a lot of mingles and things at different bars and restaurants. They do go carting, stickball, softball, wine tasting, dance lessons. They have a calendar and the nice thing about the Bay Area is they have two chapters. They have a chapter in San Francisco and they have a chapter in Santa Clara so I benefit from being able to go to both of those. I found some dates attending these events. They didn’t work out. Six of my E&A friends have gotten engaged or married to people they met through the club just this past year; and I've continued to enjoy the club for many other, initially unanticipated reasons.
I've made wonderful friends and checked off more bucket items from my list in the past three and a half years than I did in the last two decades of my life. Yes, the club costs a significant amount, but for me, it's been well worth it - and no more than many people spend on women's and men's clubs that have offices, coordinators, and so forth. The event coordinators of the San Francisco and Santa Clara clubs do an exceptional job choosing an impressive variety of events each month - including cultural or mind-broadening, easy outdoor/athletic, moderate outdoor/athletic, hard-core outdoor/athletic, and food & drink events. One of the members, who I believe was a first-time participant, found a snake that was sunning itself, picked it up and started handling it, with the guide staring at it. The snake bit this guy twice and drew blood. It was just a black snake, not a poisonous one. It wasn't bothering anybody. He did put it back in the woods without harming it but the guide never spoke. The guy was handling it for almost five minutes; it was not a 30-second event. The same exact person started cutting a wild plant called a ramp. It's an edible plant. There were signs posted about not picking up any of the vegetation, and he was harvesting ramps, which are edible.
Nobody got hurt except the guy that got bit by the snake. I don't know what their insurance covers if you get snake bites in the presence of one of your guides. To me, I think they've got some real exposure here. They should have read the rules before we even started. Don't handle any animals. Don't handle any plants. The guide was a very nice guide. They should provide guidance at the beginning of the walk about rules. They did give us a set of rules but that wasn't one of them.

I got interested in Events & Adventures because of the fact that it wasn't kind of a dating club. It was just a single thing where there’s no pressure. You can just go and be yourself without worrying about dressing to impress and what everybody else thinks. I started with an ice breaker party and now I’m getting ready to go to a party this weekend which will be my sixth event. So far I've joined ice breaker parties, Shenandoah hike, beer fest and more. I've met a lot of different people. It’s a good group experience and emotional experience.

What interested me the most in Events & Adventures is having someone else plan my outdoor activities. I was nervous at my first event which is usual in any new social situation where you don’t know anybody. I have only been on one event. It’s just a new members’ get-together. There are some people I clicked with, but not enough to actually go out and do things outside of the group. For the most part, E&A was fun. It was easy to find them, which I like, because I've gone to a few other groups where it’s not as easy to find them.

I find Events and Adventures helpful because they have a calendar with lots of events so it's really convenient for anyone who wants to sign up for an event. After I signed up, I went to an ice breaker party. It was nice but if there's anything I would recommend, it would be for the organizer to set up the atmosphere a little more so that people could be introduced to other people especially for those who went there on their own.

When I was on my business trip in California, one of the affiliates told me about Events & Adventures. It appealed to me because I wanted to be able to go and meet new people and other single people. So, it’s just the type of service that I was looking for at that time. So far I've attended 2 events: a geocaching hike and a trip to a planetarium. I was excited about the whole process and anticipating a bit more introductions with people and a little bit more of a community feeling. I didn't quite get the impression that they were a little bit guarded, because we didn't have any sort of icebreakers or anything to make it more sociable. I would think that will be a good improvement to help break these barriers down, so that people would talk a little bit more and have a little bit more social community around things. I haven’t quite made any friends yet because I’m still pretty new at it, so I’m going to go to a few more events before I make any real conclusions about the group or the organization. I think it’s a good way to get outside of your comfort zone and meet new people.
