After using Crest Pro Health gum protection toothpaste, my mouth began shedding its lining. Like a chemical burn, it is peeling. Just awful. It has made my mouth very sensitive, and it is peeling the inside of my lip and cheeks.

We began using Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste and Mouthwash about 8 weeks ago at the advice of my dentist. Right away, I noticed the metallic taste and dryness it left in my mouth. About 2 weeks after beginning daily use, I noticed an increase in canker sores. I didn't think anything of it as we are really trying to eat better and everyone in the family has increased their fresh fruit consumption. Then I noticed I had lost all sense of taste and smell, but I attributed that to a severe sinus infection. Next I noticed excessive sloughing of skin in my mouth. I thought that was weird, but it wasn't painful or bleeding so I didn't think it was a big deal. Then about 2 weeks ago my lips started burning excessively and seemed extra dry.

But I live in a desert climate and it is getting hot out, so I thought I just needed to use more ChapStick. Well, I went through a brand new fresh tube of ChapStick in 3 days. Then about a week ago, my mouth started burning. But not like I ate something too hot. It felt more like I ate a big bag of salt and vinegar chips. I have never had a chemical burn, but I can imagine this is what it would feel like. I also have sore and swollen gums, a dry and sore throat and sore teeth. In addition, I still have not totally regained a sense of taste and smell, even though the sinus infection is long gone. After talking with my husband, he said he has had all the same symptoms! We examined each other's mouths and they both look the same; red, raw, irritated, cankers along the sides of the tongue, thick sandpaper-like texture on the tongue and peeling skin. We have both also experienced extreme, debilitating headaches over the past 6 weeks, the likes of which we have never in our entire lives experienced. Coincidence? I don't know, but it seems odd.

So tonight I began searching online for what this could be. After reading dozens of sites that included stories with symptoms unlike ours, I was about to give up until I stumbled across a post where someone mentioned that perhaps it could be whitening toothpaste causing similar symptoms in another blogger. So I googled "toothpaste causing raw red mouth" and was swarmed with sites containing complaints of Crest Pro-Health products. I hadn't made the connection between all the strange symptoms and events until I read the posts on various sites. After reading posts from people with the exact same symptoms, I am convinced that this Crest product is the source of the problems. We will be discontinuing the use of this product immediately! Prior to using this product we were using a Colgate product and had no problems. We will go back to that.

Started using the product. I developed sores under my tongue. When ever my tongue came into contact or brushed against my teeth, it was painful. This happened whenever I eat, or sometimes drank. My gums even started to bleed when I brush.

I began using Crest Pro Health toothpaste in mid January 2011. I didn't notice at first but my wife noticed mood swings and an increased irritability with me. Toward the end of the month, a small bump appeared on my rear, which was alarming but I did not relate it with Crest Pro Health. By the first week of February, I was using the Crest Pro Health product 5 times a day, brushing religiously after every meal or snack. Although I didn't notice at the time, my bump on my rear had grown to a small tail and my wife noticed that I actually began to breathe fire, much like a dragon of sorts. This became a problem during sleep, causing us to invest a tremendous amount in smoke detectors and flame retardant bedding. I have since discontinued the product. The product, to my dismay, began to slowly transform me into a dragon. This created tremendous stress at work, including alienation from social peers and intimidation by anti-dragon coalitions.

A couple of weeks ago, I had a serious burning on my tongue and gums. My taste buds were extremely flamed red and felt like sand paper! I could not brush my teeth for over a week as it hurt like hell. I finally went to doctor and they treated me for thrush. I knew that wasn't correct and the medicine they gave me did not help. After a few days, small blisters in my gums began to form and under my tongue! Since I stopped brushing my teeth and rinsing with mouth wash, I cleared up after about 7-8 days. I thought maybe I burned my mouth bad on something I ate.

Now, two weeks later, I used this Crest Pro Health again, and coincidentally I realized I just used this toothpaste right before I broke out in a burning allergic reaction. Anyways, it's two weeks later now and my tongue and gums are burning again. The thing is, I brushed with the Crest Pro Health, then rinsed with Listerine Total Care. My mouth, gums, tongue, everything began to burn very bad. I went to bed and woke up with a very numb tongue, burnt feeling, and my gums and lips were swollen.

I've used Listerine Total for a very long time without any problems. I believe this Crest Pro Health toothpaste is causing the problem; that or the mixture of this toothpaste with mouthwash was really enhancing it as well. I've had to spend money on doctor visits with no help, spent money on medicines with no help, and spent money on this terrible Crest product!

After reading all these other people with the same problems, I went straight to the bathroom and threw the crap in the garbage.

When I was in extreme pain a couple of weeks ago, I told myself that I wish this upon no one. I wish I would have known what I did so that I would never do it again! Now, I know it's definitely related to this toothpaste. I'm so pissed now because the super bowl is approaching. I had a party to set up; with drinks, chips, dips, and wings. And now at this rate, I probably wont be cleared up again; I'm so angry that I'm going through this all again!

It was actually rubber bands. I open my bag. Without checking my receipt or anything he walks away. He didn't even say I'm sorry or anything. I asked to speak with a Supervisor so I could file a complaint. The Supervisor was very rude and started yell, telling me to go in his office.I told him I don't want to go in that office.

So then he told me that he was going to take me to jail. I told him he had no reason to take me to jail. Then he gets in my face telling me that he is tired of me. At that time I just decided that I would just leave. So while I'm trying to walk out the store he kept trying to walk in front of me. I told him, "don't touch me." Then he asked me am I threatening him. I replied by saying, "all I said is don't touch me." He followed all the way to my car yelling at me telling me he going to take me to jail. After a few weeks of use, I noticed that about 10 minutes after brushing my teeth, white strings of mucus would gather and peel from the insides of my cheeks. I asked my husband if he noticed the same, to which he replied no, but it did dry his mouth out. A few more weeks went by with me dismissing this seemingly harmless result of use. Then I started to notice I was getting an extremely dry mouth and lips.

My tongue tingles and feels like a dry sponge, my teeth feel like chalk and I can't seem to retain any moisture in my mouth whatsoever. I looked up my symptoms and came to this site which lists several people having the same symptoms while using the same product. I am so glad I didn't buy this paste for my daughters. This is outrageous! It also caused lack of taste, dry/peeling lips, overwhelming sense of thirst, and overall oral discomfort and concern.

I had to take her to the dentist today for a special mouthwash to help her. She has cried to me for the last 3 nights. It breaks my heart. She can't eat and can barely drink. I didn't connect that it was a side effect of the toothpaste until my husband used the toothpaste and received an allergic reaction. Right after he brushed his teeth, his throat felt it was on fire. I told him to gargle with mouthwash-- big mistake. Made reaction worse (sodium fluoride). Took Benadryl for swelling, ate ice cream, drank ice water, gargled with salt water, and sucked on a cough drop before he was able to finally go to sleep. Never have we had a reaction before. Toothpaste went into garbage. Will go back to "old" toothpaste. Two days later, my husband's throat finally feels okay.

I called my dentist's office and asked if they received similar complaints from other patients. They looked up my chart and told me the dentist recommended the toothpaste rather than the mouthwash. My dental hygienist gave me the tooth paste and oral rinse 4 months ago after the cleaning session. I have been using the tooth paste and oral rinse since. At first, I liked the products because my teeth and gum felt cleaner. I did experience many symptoms reported by other consumers at first: tissue shedding inside my mouth around the gum, lip and cheek areas; constantly peeling and raw lips which I had to continually moisten with Vaseline; raw tip of tongue; occasional metallic taste; and raw burning throat.

I knew that the slimy white shedding inside my mouth and raw taste were because of the toothpaste. I thought it was normal, that the raw taste only a temporary effect, and that the dental hygienist had good reason to give me the sample. I did not associate the raw burning throat with the toothpaste or oral rinse until I read the reports from the other consumers. The raw taste and numb-like feeling inside the mouth was especially acute after using the oral rinse. So, I used it only once a week.

Today, I did not think the continuing raw tip of my tongue, tissue shedding inside my mouth, pulling feeling of the gum tissue and slight burning sensation inside the mouth were normal, so I decided to research the Web for any consumer report. The number of complaints about Crest PRO-HEALTH products was alarming. I realized then I should have researched the Web before using any new product. I will report this to my dental office also. I'm stopping using all Crest Pro-Health products today. I started using Crest Pro-Health Enamel Strengthening Toothpaste because of some teeth sensitivities I was having. I was very pleased after just a few days that might teeth were feeling much better so I decided to continue using the product. My husband was also using it. Over the past 2 months, I have been experiencing horrible issues inside my cheeks, inside my lips, under my tongue and at the back of my throat. The skin was constantly peeling off and leaving everything raw and sensitive and clear blisters would form, grow over a few hours to a day, then burst. Sometimes, I would get them at the back of my throat which made me feel ill and awful. I spent hours upon hours over the past month researching what this might be and only came up with the info that clear, liquid-filled blisters can form when there is trauma to the tissue inside your mouth.

I didn't associate the toothpaste for quite some time since my teeth were actually feeling great. I even switched to Crest Pro-Health Whitening to see how that worked. During the same time period, my husband started complaining about a constant metallic taste in his mouth, like his fillings were falling apart. Crest Pro Health toothpaste gave me an allergic reaction in my mouth. My husband and I bought a bulk of his toothpaste at Sam's. I didn't know it was the toothpaste until I went to my doctor. On the first day, it started off with a numb tongue and swelling of the lips. Then within two days, the inside of my lips were bright red with welts. They felt very irritated and dry. My tongue felt as if I had severely burned it with hot food. It also had a sensation as if I had glass cuts. If I would grind my tongue on my teeth it stung so so bad! The back roof of my tongue was very red and looked infected. And my taste buds were swollen.

I went to my doctor and he said it was definitely an allergic reaction to something new I had been using. Then it dawned on me! The toothpaste! He prescribed me some medicine and it slowly almost went away. It's been over a week and my lips still feel a little swollen, but my tongue and everything else is back to normal. I can taste again! I went back to my regular brand toothpaste as well. My husband had not had the same reaction until now, his tongue has welts, we have discarded this toothpaste! Also, the nurse at the school I work for says, her tongue is numb due to this toothpaste. The result of this made me lose sometime at work, money, time with my child because the medication made me drowsy and I would sleep most afternoons, and especially pain in my mouth! Numb tongue, pain on tongue, cuts on tongue, the back of the roof became bright red with welts, gums felt swollen, lips became swollen, inner lips became irritated and red. The cost of this ordeal was about $90.00. I lost time at work. and I lost time with my family. My lips still feel a little swollen.

After using Crest Pro-Health toothpaste the first time, I noticed filmy, white "strings" in my mouth, which reappeared each time I brushed. After several weeks of use, the interior of my mouth became raw and sore. I ultimately realized the two were related; the stringy material was actually my mucosal membranes being shed from my mouth. After two days of non-use, my mouth is not quite healed but it is certainly recovering.

When I notified Crest of this side effect, they replied: "The film you noticed in your mouth is safe and is a result of the natural process to remove dead cells from the skin surfaces in your mouth. The cleaning action of toothpaste can accelerate this process and often results in the skin coming off in sheets, making the removal of dead skin cells more noticeable. If it's bothersome, we recommend you discontinue use.

I want to assure you, our products are thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed. Still, your report is important and I'm sharing it with our Health and Safety Division. "

I give them credit for a personalized response. However, given the amount of pain I encountered, I'm highly dubious that it was solely "dead" cells that were being removed. I routinely exfoliate my face to rid it of dead cells, but I don't end up with a raw, red face afterward. Why would a tooth paste lead to that result?

After just finishing a tube of Aquafresh (one dollar off coupon), I bought Crest Baking Soda and Peroxide Whitening with Tartar Protection Fresh Mint. I have used this exact product in the past and had no problems whatsoever. After brushing my teeth one single time with this new tube, my lips cracked open and bleeds when I smile and they are very tight and dry. It's like they are severely chapped, and I thought that was the problem. So, I've been using Vaseline intensive care for lips and it helps throughout the day until I go and brush my teeth again and I didn't put two and two together until last night.

I have a lip mask from Mary Kay that works wonders so I treated my lips last night and they almost felt normal again, then I brushed my teeth before bed and bam dry, cracked and bleeding all over again. I have discontinued use as of now.

I am unable to dial 1800 numbers from Germany so without a local US number with area code I am unable to call the company with my complaint. My lips were severely dry, cracked, bleeding and peelings after using the product one time. I used the product for three days total before I realized that I must have an allergy or there is something wrong with the product.

When that ran out I went out and bought the Cinnamon flavor and at first liked it (or so I thought). The next morning I had a VERY sore throat but didn't relate that to the crest because I work in a hospital so I figured I had strep or something. I had a strep done and it was negative, so I just took some otc medicine and it got better. I was still using the toothpaste and didn't think about what could cause all the symptoms I started getting like getting sores all over my mouth, my teeth were throbbing, especially in the back, and it felt like my fillings were loose. Then I bought a new electric toothbrush and as soon as started using it I was getting sore throats and nosebleeds all the time. I decided to search some things, and found other people are having the SAME problems and no one is doing anything, and as far as I know, Crest or the makers of it haven't even acknowledged this! This is very painful and has caused me a lot of stress! They should pull this Pro Health toothpaste off the market! I will never buy Crest again.

I have NEVER had any problems with my teeth. They are naturally straight and have always been VERY white. It runs in my family. HOWEVER, after I used the 1st tube of this toothpaste the bottom insides and top insides of my teeth started staining in a DARK BROWN color. My teeth are now HURTING majorly in between and around all the areas where the staining has occurred. I am so afraid that my teeth are ROTTING out of my mouth b/c I can literally feel my teeth THROBBING asking for help. My teeth have NEVER felt like this before IN MY LIFE. After searching online about the Crest pro-health products, I have come to realize that this is the ROOT of my problem. I am DISGUSTED and EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED that a product like this can remain on the market after what it has done to so many people. Before I go to the dentist and spend hundreds of dollars to get these stains removed, I am taking detailed pictures of what this product has done to my teeth. They look HIDEOUS!! Immediately before bed last night, I used Crest Whitestrips Premium (the ones that say Whiten 2x faster on the box). I used them exactly as directed for exactly the correct time (I set a timer) and rinsed my mouth thoroughly with fresh water afterwards. When I woke up, I first thought I had a very, very dry throat. Then I saw that part of my tongue was swollen. After getting up, my whole tongue started swelling. Fearing that my breathing was becoming compromised I drove to the Emergency Room. I was immediately admitted and given a steroid and Benadryl drip. The doctor warned me that if they couldn't manage my breathing with a tube down my nose or mouth, that they'd have to cut access through my throat. Fortunately, after three hours, the drip managed the swelling. The E.R. staff warned me that I should have dialed 9-1-1 instead of trying to make it to the hospital - the reaction was that severe.

On and off I have one tooth that has a sensitivity issue. I've always used Sensodyne with no ill effects. I happened to be out of that product, and since I used Crest Pro Health mouthwash, I thought I'd try the toothpaste. About a half hour after brushing, I noticed a film in my mouth. I got a kleenex, and rubbed it along the sides of my mouth. You know when you have a cold and cough up phlegm (my apologies - it's the only description that fits) - that's what it looked like. I had burned my mouth about a week ago, so I thought it was just skin from the burn. I refrained from brushing for about a week.
Last week, I brushed first thing in the morning, and once again, noticed the same residue. For whatever reason, it didn't click in that it might be the toothpaste. I ignored it. Later that night I brushed again (the tooth was really bothering me), and again, more residue. But this time, all of my teeth started aching. At that point it clicked that it might be the toothpaste. Also noticed I've lost 'taste' in my mouth. Everything just tastes bland, with a remote hint of flavor. Aspirin numbed the discomfort but it came back. After reviewing Consumer Affairs, I've since rinsed with warm salt water and have found that has helped, although I still don't really have the ability to taste anything. I've given it a week, hoping that whatever ill effects of whatever chemical is used in this toothpaste would naturally rid itself from my mouth. Although my teeth no longer hurt, a sore has cropped up where the side of your mouth joins to your gums. It's not dental related, it's topical.

I went to my doctor who put me on an anti-yeast medication called diflucan -- he put me on a 20 day course - when that didn't work = he gave me another 20 day supply. After that he sent me to an infectious disease doctor -- who put me through a battery of tests which came up with nothing. After that I went to an eye, ears, nose and throat doctor -- who determined it was an infecton and put me on CIPRO for three weeks -- that didn't work. Then I was sent to a doctor that specializes in skin issues both external and internal -- I had a biopsy done -- with them cutting out some of my cheek. Anyway, no one found anything.

I used Crest Whitening Expressions Cinnamon Rush flavor toothpaste November 19 2008. When I finished brushing my teeth, I noticed that where the foam had gotten on my skin around my mouth was red and raised, numb to the touch, and there was a weird red line around the raised, swollen skin. It didn't go away with washing my face, and as my face had been normal before I used the toothpaste, I concluded that the toothpaste had caused this reaction. I was pretty freaked out because it was hideously ugly and I didn't know if the reaction would go further. I got online and looked up allergic reaction to Crest and found this consumer list of complaints. I decided to take a Benadryl and go to bed. I woke up and everything looks normal and fine, though the skin that swelled up is a little dryer than the rest of my face. I am not going to be using this crazy toothpaste ever again!
It is also important to me to note that I've never had a topical reaction like this before in my life and I'm 25. I can eat anything and not have a negative reaction, and the only thing I am allergic to is mold, seasonal allergies, and cat hair if I pet a cat and then rub my face/eyes without washing my hands. I've never experienced anything like this. Really freaky stuff.

I have been using Crest Pro Health Toothpaste for some time. It causes a tingling, burning sensation on my tongue that I have kind of gotten used to. It has also caused a discharge in my mouth. At first it was odd - maybe some age-related thing that no one talks about? Then it became annoying, as I manually removed strings of white, filmy stuff from my mouth as surreptitiously as possible. It has lately become embarrassing in amount and frequency - almost continuous. I have to make sure I have a Kleenex handy. I was finally going to speak with my doctor about it, but had a dental hygiene appointment first. When I described this situation, my hygienist said she was stumped; often, it can be a sign of gum disease but since my dental records are excellent and have been for a while, she suggested I do more investigation.

In the meantime, she continued with the dental cleaning and stopped. She said I may have found the source of the discharge. Your cheeks' tissue is sloughing off. They are coated in a white filmy, stringy substance that is simply sloughing off. She asked what toothpaste I was using. I told her Crest Pro Health. She said she had a number of patients complaining of unusual dental issues. We all had one thing in common: we all used Crest Pro Health toothpaste. She suggested I change toothpaste and gave me a tube of ** to try. I used it for the first time that night and the effect was instantaneous and stunning. My tongue felt good. My cheeks felt good. I threw out all my Crest Pro Health product. That was two weeks ago and I am amazed at how completely normal, clean and good my entire mouth feels.

It took a few days to get used to not having a film to remove. I started investigating on the Internet. When I Googled Crest Pro Health-Problems, I was amazed at the quantity and variety of complaints. I investigated further and found the ingredient cetylpyridinium chloride. More Googling revealed that this is toxic and can be very destructive of mucous membrane.

How can P&G use a substance that can be very destructive of mucous membrane in a product destined exclusively for a mucous environment? How can the American Dental Association be endorsing this product? With the quantity and variety of problems going back for two years, why is this product still on the market? Why is there no warning on the tube or box? And finally, if P&G won't do anything, how come some enterprising lawyer or law firm hasn't taken up this issue? Aside from the money I have paid for toothpaste, I have no economic damage; the physical damage described above has disappeared immediately after stopping use of the product. I have been fortunate to avoid the staining, spotting, etc. that others have experienced.

It became Very difficult to even speak because my tongue felt squeaky against my teeth and felt Disgusting! I seriously thought it was caused by the coffee I was drinking (flavorings?), or maybe the beef jerky I had been eating (sodium level?) or maybe it was salsa (jalepenos & spices?), even though I had never had those kind of reactions before.

FINALLY, after having this miserable problem every day for the last Four Months, it occurred to me that perhaps it was caused by the toothpaste that I had been using! I haven't used it for about 2 weeks now, and Finally my tongue is healing and I feel MUCH better. No more pain when I talk, eat or drink. I never went to the doctor, but I seriously have considered it! Also, I had used Crest White Strips periodically before trying this toothpaste, and they made my teeth AND gums ACHE terribly! I'm hoping that there won't be any longterm damage to my tongue or tastebuds because of this toothpaste. I haven't found any online warnings posted regarding this specific product, but I have noticed that Target (where I had purchased them) doesn't carry it anymore!

It happened again last night after I brushed my teeth, getting ready for bed. The swelling was much worse and swallowing was becoming difficult. It happened again this morning when I was getting ready for work, only this time my throat swelled so much I decided to go to the E.R. I told the Doc. what was happening and he immediately knew that I was having an allergic reaction to my toothpaste! I explained to him that it didn't make sense as I've been using this exact tube of toothpaste for over a month. He got to talking about how, when it was manufactured, it probably wasn't mixed thoroughly and that I may have been exposed to a high concentration of whatever toxin is in the paste. Makes sense. After reading multiple postings of the same thing happening to other people, I am not convinced that we are all having an allergic reaction as one would have to shellfish or milk. After all, toothpaste is made up of harsh chemicals that are advertised as being dangerous if swallowed (to all humans, not just the few with allergies).

I think Crest toothpaste is toxic. After having the tooth paste from my electric tooth brush flung to the back of my throat I spent another 10 hours in amazing pain and gagging. Today I have a very agitated throat and it is hard to swallow. During this awful experience 3 bottles of water were consumed to try to push the paste further down to the stomach however it only only slightly cooled the burn but did not come close to stopping the gagging.

The toothpaste had managed to aggravate my nose and throat canals to the point that blood was extruding from both. Catching my breath was impossible due to the burn. It seems to me that even though this was an isolated incident that they would be concerned that the public is protected from this teeth whitener brightner tooth paste. I do expect a response from them! I find the complaint section of their e-service evidence of their lack of concern. The fact that they have a complaint section that usually goes unread and they believe that they have satisfied the complainers without much regard for their saftey or the safety of their consumers is quite indifferent and an ill conceived idea. It takes caring personal contact in these situations. I believe that they can and should do much better.

Plainly put, their formula is too dangerous should go back to the research table. If this is too costly and extreme, a red label warning people would be appropriate. It then is up to the consumer to judge the product's merits and dangers. I am aware of the funny and somewhat ridiculous circumstance of this incident, however the reaction from this product should not go undisclosed to the consumer. Let them decide if they then want to risk for the whiter and brighter. I for one will be using another safer product and doing the research before. Baking soda, who knows, but buyer beware.

On the 6th day, my face and lower jaw began to swell and my lips as well. Later that night, my forehead began to break out.

I went to the doctor that night and she said I was having an allergic reaction to something. The only I changed in my life was the toothpaste.

She gave me some prescription mouthwash for my terrible canker soars and also some steroids to counter the swelling. Of course, I discontinued the toothpaste.

Since then, all symptoms have gone away slowly.

Seems like all I can find, of your Crest toothpaste, is in a double tube.

When we cannot get any more toothpaste out of the top of tube, there is still quite a bit of toothpaste left inside the tube, which is wasteful.

I purchased the Crest Vivid white toothpaste and even after rinsing my mouth I would clean my face on a towel - the towel would become discolored. Yes the towel would look like it was bleached! I ruined about 5 towels because I thought I ruined them washing them w/Oxyclean. Not Oxyclean it was from the Crest toothpaste. There is no disclaimer on the packaging - NOTHING!

I just read two other people's posts about mouth problems when using this product. I have the same thing. I had burning pain when eating certain foods or even from my tongue touching my teeth. It was very painful. I could visibly see white and red painful areas on the side of my tongue where it is smooth.

I went to the doctor after a month of the pain. The doctor first thought it might be thrush, but the tests came back negative. They gave me the meds anyway, but they didn't work. I went back again and they told me to take more vitamins, which I did for a month and it didn't help. Finally, it occurred to me it might be my toothpaste, so I immediately switched to a children's mild brand and talked to my doctor. She told me to give it a try for a few weeks. It has now been four days and it is nearly pain free.

This product needs to be taken off the market or a label placed on it saying this might happen. I don't have allergies to much of anything, so this is very surprising. I paid $15 per doctor visit for co-pays plus another $15 for the meds that didn't work.

My wife purchased a new Crest product --Multi Care-- that I had never tried before. I have been using Crest almost my entire life. In the first day that I used the product I noticed canker sores and redness in my gums. The second day I my tongue was swollen, my taste buds enflamed, and my gums were deep red and bumpy. It hurt so bad to brush my teeth, I quit brushing for a few days and struggled to eat or breath for another week. At night, I was unable to sleep comfortably because my tongue was closing off my breathing passages. My wife suffered through my heavily increased snoring like a trooper.

I thought I might have strep or some other problem, but when I finally saw a doctor it was reduced to tenderness. After more than a week, I resumed brushing my teeth with the same product--Multi-Care--and within half an hour my tongue was swollen and the inside of my mouth painfully sensitive.

To prove my theory that it was the toothpaste specifically, I waited another week till my pain was almost completely gone (I was still sensitive), and then I used a very, very small amount again on a new toothbrush. Within half an hour, I was in pain and swollen.

Because of the pain, I missed work, couldn't eat normally for almost a week, couldn't take care of my teeth like I normally would, and I was miserable because I could not breath while I slept. While these consequences may not be quantified easily, I am concerned that this product could produce a reaction of this type--one I have never had in any other situation ever--and not have some kind of indication that something in the product may do so. I originally went to the internet to find Proctor & Gamble's website to post a complaint, but upon searching for crest toothpaste, I found postings by other people who suffered similarly to me. I don't want other people to have to go through what we did, so I am filing a complaint anywhere and everywhere I can.
