They told me I would have to pay a one time fee of $80 for them to fix my computer problem. It took me 4 different calls for them to fix the problem in which they said I had a virus in my event viewer so they blocked it somehow. The next day, I couldn't shut my computer down, restart it or open my security so I called back. They said because I answered yes to the problem being fixed, I would have to pay more money for them to fix it. I paid eighty dollars for nothing. That is how I feel and I should get my money back.

I tried to access my email account, only to be blocked from it by Hotmail. They seem to think someone else may have accessed it. Well, that was well over a month. I am now on my 10th service request with no resolution. I just get a generic response and the exact same form to complete. I was informed that the first one they sent is no longer used so I got another one to complete, three times now. The last one asked me to tell them the last 4 subject lines of emails I sent. Well, I could have answered that a month ago, but I have been banned and cannot be sure anymore. It was on the first form but that wasn't good enough. Seriously, the date I opened my account, who knows that? It was almost 10 years ago.
I have verifications of flights, contacts and emails that mean a lot to me in that account. They are holding it all ransom. Not to mention you cannot actually contact anyone. I have asked for phone numbers to call, or they can call me. It may not be important to them, but they are to me. There are travel emails, ones from my kids and family that I want back and see now that I should have kept elsewhere. I have an easier time verifying my personal bank accounts. For such a big company, they sure do not seem to care about the little people. I am shocked at the lack of customer service and ways to contact the company. Seriously, Microsoft doesn't have an email address you can contact them on? I used to but they took it away.

I used Fix It Center that says it's fixed, but every time I use the printer, it says "spooler not working." They are the idiots that made all of this junk and they're not smart enough to figure how to fix it. Now my computer is stuck, Fix It Center spooler error for hours and hours and it says if I close it, it won't fix it. I keep sending the error reports, nothing has been done. If they can't fix it, they should stop lying saying they can. Fix It Center doesn't know how to fix anything!

What's the deal with the line height? Why does Microsoft think it's alright to have a shorter line height for IE than the other browsers? Do they think they leave web designers with any warm fuzzies when we have to design two page layouts - one of IE and one for everything else? No! It doesn't look better and it's a royal pain, so fix it please! Maybe if Microsoft stopped trying to be different with IE and just did it right, they might stop losing market share and people like me would quit encouraging their clients to use Firefox and Chrome. Please consider that this might be a smart advice.

Hotmail/Windows Live: They said my account was hacked after 12 years with this email address. I lost all contacts and a lot of money due to they just blocked you and do nothing. They're wimps, as you cannot even talk to someone and fix this problem. They screw up people's lives and don't even care enough to help fix it. I'm trying to fix it, though answering questions is stupid. I deal with hundreds of emails each week and can't remember the info they're asking. I phoned and got the same answer from customer support every time. They can't do a thing. What good is customer service if they can't fix a problem. Microsoft needs to talk to customers on their problem, not hide behind a desk and likely laughing that it's screwing things up for me after 12 years.

I've only had a Windows 7 computer for about a month and I've already lost about an hour of work. It automatically reboots to install updates. I'll get a message that says it's going to reboot, I'll click to postpone so I can do my work and the next day, there is no message and it reboots my computer in the middle of my work, and the work is lost. Usually, I hibernate my computer so as to keep my work ready, which is why that happens without warning, but it shouldn't happen at all. You should be given the option to reboot your computer, but not forced to reboot. I've lost valuable time having to do things all over again because of Microsoft's stupid reboot policy. They want to force updates on people, which is wrong also.

I have been using MS Word since the early 1990s. I am now required to use Word 2010 for creating computing security documents in outline format. This is the worst, most complicated, most user unfriendly software I have ever used from Microsoft. I have to manually type in outline numbers, it does not number automatically from one paragraph to another, it's erasing letters and I cannot fix it, etc. It's extremely complicated to use and I do not have time to re-learn a software system which used to be quite easy and quite intuitive - not anymore. Plus, the help system is useless.

I am a user since the 80's, starting with Windows 3 11, Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, Millennium, XP and Windows 7. I'm getting pretty tired hanging on with Microsoft. I can understand that you need to make money, but at least let the systems mature properly. I can't use my older office programs because they are not compatible with the newer operation system. This is a poor sign of implementing all the necessary software modules to function well. New Outlook programs became very confusing and my computer is always updating programs, which takes awhile, and antivirus programs and many other stuff slow down the system. It's difficult to understand what's going on.
How can a housewife handle all the option that is available? It should be a black box without giving the option to get lost on the win.ini or win32 files and nothing else. I'm over 60 years now and not in the mood to keep learning always a new operation system and updating my programs to make it work with Windows 7 or something else. Therefore, I'm looking forward to change to Apple because the system is more stable and a version change is not so often and doesn't have all this virus **.

Thinking I was doing something good for my computer, I was trying to remove unused software. I must have taken out something in my start up program as my system wouldn't load and I was getting nowhere. No big deal, I'll just use my recovery disk. What a mistake! I lost everything including all of my C drive (7 years’ worth of work) and all Microsoft updates that I had paid for including Microsoft 2007. I had also paid $140 to a so called Microsoft Partner that ripped me off doing a so called system improvement that did nothing about 1 month before.
In using my restore disk, it only restores original programs but did not restore my Microsoft Outlook. Once my system was running, I thought no big deal, I’ll just restore my system to before it had problems. No dates available before the big blow up! Why? I do not know. I then tried to contact Microsoft as all that I wanted was my Microsoft Outlook back. They will not support anything outside of the U.S. When you sold your systems outside of the U.S., into Canada and other countries, you quickly took the money! For a corporation that is so rich, you’re so poor in service. You should be ashamed!
I wonder how many people know the real story behind Bill Gates, IBM and how he was the lucky person who happened to know a person who wrote DOS and purchased it for next to nothing from him because of IBM's antitrust legal case opportunity. Bill Gates just happened to be Johnny on the spot with someone else's product which he paid next to nothing for. I reported to the rep that was funny because the same OS on the same computer other boot partition did not have that complaint. The rep then said in asking, "So you have installed Vista under the same license on different boot partitions on the same computer?" I said yes because in the wide world of hardware and software, there are incompatibles. He then said that was illegal under my EULA and he and Microsoft were going to cite me. They said that for security reasons, each email needs to have a new password every 90 days. Well fine, then why did it ask me for a new password one week after I just made a new one? I had that right. I then called the number they gave me. I was then required to go through the entire process again by prompts from a computer. There was no option to talk to a live person. I am totally frustrated with the assistance I have received.
I originally gave a glowing review on assistance in downloading the product. My problem is with trying to install it. I would then buy a similar product from another company and tell everyone I know about the problem I encountered.

My Windows Vista has stopped being genuine and will not reactivate. I am positive that the program is genuine and yet I cannot get any help from Microsoft. I tried calling tech support and they lady I spoke to refused to give me her name, employee ID and a ticket number. Yet, she took all of my information name and phone number at the start of the call. After her continuing to ask me what my problem was and me explaining it in as many different ways as I could for her to understand, she told me and I quote, "Ma'am, you do not know computers more than I do." I said, "Excuse me, I am the customer and who are you to say how much I know about computers!”
I asked to speak to a manager and she told me, "No, you do not get to speak to a manager and I will not give you a ticket number, my name or my ID number." I told her that by law and Microsoft policy all calls are recorded and documented. Of course she said no and hung up on me. I called back and the next person who said their name was Mark, employee ID **. He said they would get me a manager and after being on hold for 2 minutes, a guy named Fred, employee ID ** said that there was no document that I had called before. I said, “Well, isn't it company policy that all calls are documented?” and he said yes. I said, “So you're telling me that an employee did not follow company policy or the law?” and he said yes.
I asked for the corporate number and of course you cannot reach anyone there unless you know an extension. Best of all I was speaking to people in the Philippines. Way to go America! I purchased Microsoft Office for students and instructors. When I tried to register the software to get the product code, I thought I sent it to email. However, the email and code never arrived. After searching for how to get help at Microsoft, I got into a chat with a technical support representative with Marga. After an hour of re-doing the same actions, she told me someone from technical support would aid me in getting the product code and took my email address and phone number.
I have never heard from Microsoft and now paid for software I cannot use. I asked several times for a number and name to contact and this representative ignored my request. Also, I asked to speak with a supervisor and she told me one was not available. It seems I lost my money and have a package with no product code.

When is Microsoft going to stop rearranging icons and actually fix something? It would also help if they would fix the "current" software instead of the previous release. That way, the old problems should stop coming back! I'm curious if anyone at Microsoft is familiar with Alpha product testing? They also seem to believe that the general public is their Beta test lab rats. Take the time and perform full system testing before releasing to the public! As long as Microsoft has the monopoly on operating systems, they are not going to react to complaints like mine. Something needs to be done that will cause a financial hiccup before they will "do the right thing!" Why should they react to a minor problem as in not working properly when they have a steady income? We, the consumers, need to find a way to drop them several notches!

I've gone through great lengths to avoid using Internet Explorer. I remember what Microsoft did to destroy Netscape back in the day, releasing IE for free and even entangling it into Windows so deeply that only a serious hack job on the entire OS could get rid of the piece of **. I want Microsoft to know that I hate IE. It loads heavy compared to any other browser, full of security holes, and topped with so many bells and whistles that it would drag a super computer down. I've tried endless ways to remove it from my Windows 7 operating system and it won’t let me.
I'm really sick and tired of paying for an operating system that specifically interferes with my full access of my computer, something I own and should have complete control over. I'm tired of IE opening with my actual primary browser every time I click a web link. I'm unbelievably tired of Microsoft's stupid tricks, games, hidden traps and worthless customer support.
Bill Gates has lost his way. He used to be a man who wanted everyone to have a solid OS, now he's just money greedy, shady business running fat cat. Microsoft, know this, I will never use IE. It's not my choice to have it on my computer. You took that away from me. It's not my choice to keep it on my computer. You took that away from me too. So since it's the only choice you've left me, I'm never using it. I've crippled and corrupted the files so it won’t run since you've seen fit to interfere with every possible way of removing this bloated, underdeveloped, worthless, overpriced (yeah, I know it's free) piece of programming debris.
Also, I'm learning Linux so I never have to deal with Windows again. I used to love Windows; the simplicity, the ease of use and the quick learning. But ever since Windows 98 you've been going downhill; restricting more and more access, limiting more and more user customization. In the very near future, Windows will no longer be a part of my operating systems. The company I work for already uses Linux for its servers because the other techs feel as I do. Windows and Microsoft have gotten way too full of themselves. They think they know better than every single consumer across the face of the earth, and they think they should be allowed to decide how we run our equipment. Think about that Bill Gates. We own this **, not you. Just because I bought a steering wheel from you doesn’t mean you get to tell me how to drive my car. Get over yourself.
Also, it should be noted that since I've started working in Linux, I've encountered less and less issues with installing, running and modifying my programs and customizing my system than I ever did in Windows. I highly recommend Linux to everyone. Linux itself is free, most of its supporting programs are free and many of the converters and modifiers that will allow you to run Windows specific programs are also free.
I wonder if Bill Gates knows he's setting his company up to be destroyed by charging people outrageous amounts of money for an operating system that isn’t nearly as good as a Free Red Hat Linux. Also, ever since I got rid of Windows, my computer has never run smoother. I can only imagine all the bloatware they had running in the background that was hidden from my process watching programs. Hey Microsoft! News flash, if you have to hide what you’re doing, it's probably wrong!
My biggest complain however is how Microsoft has removed the ability to run Windows XP programs purposely in Windows 7, without upgrading to the premium system. Numerous programs of mine we're rendered useless upon upgrading to Windows 7, this was the deciding factor that made me drop Windows. I will never again touch a Windows OS unless forced to on someone else’s computer and while I'm working on that PC, I will constantly tell the people I'm working for how worthless Windows is and why they should switch to Linux.
They say the reason Windows is the target of most viruses is because it's the majority of the OS's running in the world. I think it's more likely that it's because Microsoft has pissed off the majority of the free thinking, open minded, computer literate community, and with their shady business tactics, sneaky programming methods, and forcing IE down everyone’s throat like it should be the only web browser available. It's more like, they deserve to be that target.

I installed one of my MS Office licenses on a computer that subsequently broke and had to be replaced. I was unable to deactivate or de-authorize MS Word. This puts me in a moral and ethical dilemma. I paid for 3 licenses. Do I a) suck it up and purchase another license, even though I am entitled to 3? or b) do I pirate MS Office?
Microsoft is almost forcing my hand to do the wrong thing when I am a law-abiding and upright person for the most part. I do not want to pirate software ever. I hate the guilt that comes with doing the wrong thing. So, I have to just suck it up and buy more software. Microsoft is creating pirates by not allowing a deactivation/reactivation of their software. What happens if I want to reformat my computer? I can use the pathetic tool that creates a system image. But if I restore that, then I restore all of the previous bugs on my computer that the reformat was supposed to fix.
Microsoft is putting me in a moral/ethical dilemma where I can choose to either say "stuff you" and pirate software or do something that is very difficult in my financial state and purchase new software when I am entitled to 3 licenses in the first place! I purchased 3 licenses, and I deserve to have access to them for as long as I like.
I want a deauthorization/deactivation tool implemented in Microsoft software. It can be password protected and have access to all of my personal details if it so wants, but I want to have the ability to use my licenses on any computer that I see fit. It puts me in a very hard position, where I can either choose to do the right thing and get stuffed around (and which I can't afford) or do the so-called illegal thing and pirate the software. Apple iTunes has deactivation and reactivation. Why can't Microsoft?!

Even when I see where a file is saved for example my location/documents and when I look for such a folder, there is no such place in my computer, there is my location/mydocuments. There is no such place as documents. The only way I can use this is to create my own folders where I always know where they are and save everything there. First, Microsoft doesn't put a disclaimer on computers loaded with Windows 7 letting consumers know Windows 7 is not compatible with many existing programs. To resolve this, one must purchase an "upgrade" in order to downgrade to XP Mode so that programs can be loaded. Of course, if you've already transferred your data files to the new computer as I had, all your data is now in Windows 7 so it then must all be transferred to XP Mode in order to access it from the programs that will only install in XP Mode.
I ordered the upgrade requesting overnight delivery. I was assured it would be shipped this way for an extra fee of $10 something. When the program had not arrived several days later, I called and was informed it had been shipped by ground and nothing could be done since it had already shipped. At both times in talking with Microsoft, I stated I wanted a disc so, in case something went wrong or it didn't load correctly, I'd have the disc to reinstall the program. Both representatives said they understood. However, I didn't receive a disc, only a key number which was supposed to allow me to download on line.
I had an IT specialist come over to do this. He couldn't figure it out and none of the five Microsoft representatives could figure it out either. They told him to call the computer manufacturer, Lenovo. Lenovo, in turn, told him to call IBM. I told him this was a Microsoft problem and we needed to find someone there who could help. After talking with four more Microsoft representatives, one finally knew how to install the upgrade. That done, two programs, which take 4 1/2 hours to download had to be installed. The IT specialist left them installing and much later that night I had a message that both had installed successfully.
However, the next morning when I attempted to load my programs, they would still not load. After a complete search of my computer, I was unable to find the two "successful" downloads. So, the next day, I spent the entire day allowing a Microsoft representative to take control of my computer and we finally had a real successful installation. Next step was another full day on the phone with the software people assisting me in getting my date from Windows 7 into XP Mode.
For several months, except some glitches which I learned to work around, everything went fairly smoothly. Then the computer developed a systems operating problem and I had to pay someone to correct this. This person told me I'd be better off buying another computer loaded on with XP, that the dual systems caused numerous problems.
Microsoft knew about the problems but saw fit not to inform consumers. Since my initiation to Windows 7, I've heard numerous other people tell me they had the same problem. So, Microsoft makes an additional $100 plus on every unsuspecting consumer who buys a computer with Windows 7 and then discovers they can't run their programs. Very unethical!

So, after searching the Microsoft website for over 20 minutes trying to find a phone number to call to get help, I finally searched for the number on Google for a bit and found one.
I called and talked to a representative for about 20 minutes and the ending result is that my product key has been used 1,200 times and that the only solution for me is to buy a new program. I've used this program once and I bought it, I don't care if someone else used it 5,000 times, if I have proof that I bought it and they can't keep control of their product keys being used multiple times, why should I be punished? I should receive a brand ** new product key. I share my Mac Powerbook between my work and my home studies. I don't use MS Office for my work as I have always used the Apple office products. The rep then tried to go over each item on the original invoice trying to say that that's what the 2 charges were. The initial price of Office: Mac at $119; then my back up disc for approx. $12; and then the subtotal for approx. $132. However, on my bank statement, I was charge $132 for the original transaction, then again for $119 separately! The rep then told me of the "pre-authorization" charge that would be taken back after 2 business days! I then explained to the rep that I was going to get a banker on the phone with me to explain to the rep what was displayed on the bank's statement. I was at my city's library at the time and my bank was about 4 blocks away and he replied with "Go ahead.”
I was so angry that I was shaking! I do not understand why I also had to give my name and e-mail to each rep after each time I was transferred. I was also given a different reference number for each rep (or each separate "call" as they put it). I was still on the original call. I asked for a full refund and I really fear that this process is also long and drawn out! I've never been treated so poorly before Microsoft and I do not understand what the problem is now. When I had told the rep that I no longer wanted to use MS Office for Mac, he then asked me questions from a disclaimer emphasizing that I would be "under indictment for fraud" if I was going to use MS Office for Mac, or fail to uninstall it from my computer. I have never been treated so poorly by not just any other company, but by Microsoft before!

I just bought a new computer and instead of the Windows system I had, I had to buy the new operating system Windows 7. It seems to be a cross between Vista, which was terrible, and the worst aspects of Windows. It is very inefficient and maddening to use. All my .pdf files open as a Word document which of course turns the document into so much gobbledygook, even when I have Adobe running the background. I have to open Adobe first and make sure MS Word is closed before I can open the document from Adobe or it will default to MS Word. Why can't it just open the document as designated? Why can't I choose the operating system I want? Or choose to the previous operating system? This feels too much like a monopoly to me and MS needs to be broken of its spell on all new computers.

I would like to talk to someone in authority at Microsoft about a disaster with your online support at Microsoft. Everything was wiped off my computer by a tech person who came on my computer in December, remotely to fix a simple Silverlight problem. The computer was rendered useless after two weeks and many hours (10/12) by the same lady. All my files and back ups were empty. My email program was deleted along with the back up file for the email program I used. She was unable to restore to an earlier date! My emails to her manager were ignored. Problem started 16th December, two months ago! I have over 80 emails to your support staff with absolutely no result and no forward movement whatsoever.
I had to purchase a new computer on January 4th 2012. I have spent hours on the phone. I have spoken to team managers, Microsoft Help, Customer and Partner Advocacy North America Populus Group at Microsoft corporation and others. After giving me a reference number, they tell me someone will get right back to me. After a week, I phoned back. No one at that department recognizes the reference number and I have to start again! Annoyed and angry doesn't even come close to how I feel about Microsoft today. Is this how Microsoft have trained their staff to treat their customers? The people I have spoken to are like zombies who haven't a clue what they are doing. When I tell them the computer is wiped out, useless, kaput, not working, they ask me if I would like them to put me through to the tech dept to fix the Silverlight file problem! There is no Silverlight problem any more because there is no computer any more. It is just a shell, a useless box!
Today, I was passed from pillar to post and ended up with the lady technician's manager, who told me he was the only one I could speak to and that he could do nothing but come on my computer and restore the files and fix the Silverlight problem! Today, six weeks later, I tracked him down! He tried to talk to me as if there was only a Silverlight problem telling me that he had read all of the emails in the file. I had to nearly badger the fact out of him that he was aware that I had to buy a new computer! I have full list of emails and names available.

Vista was horrible. It came with an awesome gaming system, and turned it into one of the slowest systems in the market. It took two hours to copy a few images. I called their tech support, and that had to be the most frustrating experience ever. Microsoft can't afford to put people on the phone, who can actually communicate. Their solution was to format the drive. Apparently, they can't troubleshoot either. I had to install XP to get it to work right.
I waited two years to buy my Xbox 360. I figured that would be long enough for them to work out the issues on an unsuspecting public. It failed within a month. called their support number, and the solution was to replace the unit with a refurbished system.
Regarding my Live Gold account, their price increase was a joke. Everything they offer is free with the PS3. They give you access to a few free programs, and they charge you $10.00 more. It's absurd!
Microsoft has nothing to offer. A windows upgrade, is fixing bugs from previous versions of Windows. They are basically selling you a patch for the last **. I'll be glad when they are gone. Perhaps then, our economy will recover, and we won't have to worry about them buying out the competition. I suppose if they didn't, they wouldn't sell anything.

He has not spoken of any cost at all. At the end of his spiel he told me the bad news: $129.00 for a year or $199.00 forever for any amount of computers I have now or in the future. After first agreeing to the $128 I changed my mind for the lifetime plan. Well, he or someone repaired my computer then let me know they were done. The next day I could not access the internet and called Gtech back. The conversation went something like this. I told him my problem and he said I had to talk to my internet company. I said I had no problem until he worked on it. He said to contact my internet company. I said I am trying to find out what you did to cause this and have you fix it. He said I had to contact the internet company and spoke so fast and rapidly and would not listen to what I had to say.
I ended up telling him to shut up so I could talk and he kept on talking down to me. I tried to let him know that we were not understanding one another and finally at wits end I called him a big mouth, to which he got really mad and said a few things. I asked for his supervisor and he hung up on me. I called him back and he hung up again. I am sure he is an efficient worker but that is not enough. Customers are still who finance payrolls. But I so feel bad for the shut up and big mouth remark. I was trying to get him to be quiet, quit talking down to me and listen to what I had to say. I have not had much communication with Microsoft so I guess he is not the model employee. If he is, please let me know. Otherwise, I see this as an inside issue for you to deal with as you see fit. All I really wanted to know was if it was Microsoft who caused the problem. If so an apology was in order. Or should I have been told I may have a problem connecting to the internet and I should contact my internet provider?
After an email or more back and forth I received another asking that I get my computer working so they could download information to it. How could I send them emails if the internet was still down? I hope this conversation was recorded so you can listen to the original conversation. By the way I did not receive any apologies or a call after sending a similar message to them. Also, they sent me emails charging me $129 and another $199. I had to email them to get this understood. I received an email from PayPal that ** was charging my account $199. I didn't know and even now do not—are they with Gtech and Microsoft? Too much confusion. Too much talking and not enough listening and constructive input will always cause unnecessary problems and bad will. It was then I was told by a rep named Carlos, as well as his supervisor, that my order was canceled due to a heavy backlog. I did not receive an email or anything. I requested an explanation. They did not have one, of course. I was then advised that I needed to reorder and they would send it second delivery via UPS, no extra charge to me. Go figure. I took off from work on 11/18 to ensure that I would be home to get my Kinect. As the hours passed, no UPS. I called Microsoft back to inquire on my order and they said that they shipped it and that it was between me and UPS at this time. I told them "I did not make a payment to UPS and I expect to receive my product".
I would have never imagined that a retailer such as Microsoft would settle for such poor customer service. They can barely speak English from one rep to the next. All you get are runaround and lies. Even the so-called supervisors are a disgrace. This company, even as far as giving me a tracking number for UPS and needless to say when I contacted UPS, they did not have it in the system. Their rep was kind enough to search several different ways. Microsoft lied! I would have really expected so much more from something attached to Bill Gates, but I guess his money is so long he doesn't have time to care because he is too busy counting.

An error message came up and told me I had exceeded the allowed number of re-installs and my license key no longer worked. In other words, MS has decided to install an arbitrary number of opportunities to re-install software I purchased from them. Despite the fact I paid for it, my use of it is not only limited but decided with no chance for recourse.
When contacting MS for support and options, there is no option that does not include payment. The cheapest method is via e-mail, and that is a $99 charge! There is no other manner in which to contact MS for support. If there was ever an actionable incident, this must be it. A corporate limit to use of purchased goods, and then forced to pay an exorbitant fee to have it "solved". And let us not forget those "technicians" on the other end of the line are not techs, but people reading from a computer screen that provides answers for every question.

So I made the mistake of trying an Office 2007 trial version. I figured if I didn't like it or more likely, didn't see enough of a benefit to fork over the dough, I could always go back to my 2003 version. Wrong.
The 2007 version installed "over" the 2003, incorporating the earlier version into itself. Now that the trial period has ended, the computer's office products are largely frozen. I can access documents, for example, but I can't edit them or even cut and paste the data. I'm told that the only way to go back to the way things were is to uninstall 2007 and reinstall 2003. Simple enough, except that at some point in the intervening years, I lost the 2003 disks and the Product Code Number.
It seems to me that the world's most sophisticated software company should be able to tell that I have a legitimately installed 2003 system below my now-frozen 2007 system. It seems to me that a company with a concern for its customers would set up the trial version of 2007 to automatically revert to the 2003 version if the customer chose not to upgrade.
But the real kicker is that I can't even contact Microsoft about this without losing money. They charge $49 to discuss, via email or phone, any problems you might have with the Office Suite, if you don't happen to have your product code handy. It's as if I walked into a car dealership, was enticed into trying out a new car for a few days, then when I returned it got told that not only could I not get my old car back but that I couldn't even complain to the dealership about it without being charged for the privilege!

A couple of months ago, I tried to copy a scanned document from my printer onto my documents. I tried until four o'clock in the morning and it was so frustratingly difficult to do. Why was it so hard? Because my Home Edition Office Suite Windows XP on my computer had been hijacked by Microsoft's free trial of their Microsoft Office 7 program. I absolutely hated the free trial program but since it would "go away" after the free trial expired at the end of February, I just left it alone and patiently waited for the day that I would get my Home Edition Office Suite Windows XP back March 1st.
Well, March 1st, I did not get my Home Edition Office Suite back. Instead, I had the free trial of the Microsoft Windows 7 with the note directing me to install it and pay for it, or uninstall it in my add/remove program and if I did not remove the free trial in my add/remove program, then I could not access or use my own--already installed and paid for many years ago, Home Edition Office Suite Windows XP programs. So I followed the instruction and uninstalled the free trial of the of the Microsoft Office 7 program.
Immediately after uninstalling Microsoft's free trial, my entire Microsoft Home Edition Office Suite programs disappeared. My restore program won't work now and all requests for help on the Microsoft forum and customer service online submissions from me have been completely ignored. My phone call to the Microsoft office in my city of Winnipeg was useless because their "mail box was full." I still have the CDs with the Microsoft Home Edition Office Suite Windows XP so I can have the programs re-installed but I need help to do that.
I have no money to pay anyone to do that for me and I don't know how to do that myself. I understand that Microsoft could, if they so desired, re-install my entire Home Edition Office Suite for my Windows XP for me online and that is what I want them to do. It is not fair to hijack and then remove programs from my computer just to market and sell their new program.
My child and I are disabled and use the Office Suite programs daily for school and work, we are both falling behind. She has learning disorders and an anxiety problem that are being worsened by the loss of her access to the tools she needs. I am not going to meet my deadlines and am beginning to have headaches from this inability to resolve what should be an easy problem to resolve. He finally decided that Outlook 2002 was not compatible with my version of Windows. I told him, "Well, it was compatible this morning before I did the Internet Explorer upgrade."
Sen had two suggestions for me. I could downgrade back to Internet Explorer 7 and deal with all the headaches that inevitably arise from a downgrade, which would be futile anyway because Windows will simply try to upgrade to version 8 every day as part of the Windows Update. He said my other option was to buy Outlook 2007.

I was having problems with Windows Security Center telling me that my virus program (Trend Micro Internet Security) was out of date when it was not, as I'd just renewed the program until the year 2010. Windows Security Center, however, would not recognize this and continued to tell me that my program was out of date. I had contacted Trend Micro and they said it was an issue with Microsoft (as I'd already assumed) and told me to contact Microsoft, so I did. The support worker I had gotten was Karen and it seems to me that she is lacking the proper computer skills and was unable to help me troubleshoot my issue, only making things worse. To try and get Windows Security Center telling me the right message, she had me let her take-over my computer via Easy Assist and she would enable and disable programs, and she also then deleted vistasp1 from regedit which caused a whole slew of new problems.
My Trend Micro would no longer load on the task bar on the lower right hand side of my computer. My network icon was telling me I was disconnected from the internet (when I could load Internet Explorer and remain connected just fine), and a million programs that I had previously disabled many months ago now began loading after each re-start. I would often ask Karen to explain to me what it was she was doing while connected to Easy Assist (for example, when she went into regedit, msconfig, and so on) but she ignored all of my questions and refused to answer me and tell me what she was doing. I also spoke to Richard, the supervisor, but he was also zero help.
All in all, Karen was no help whatsoever and, in the end, extremely rude. I ended up having to do a system restore myself, and now my laptop is extremely slow upon doing the restore. It had been extremely stressful for me, having to figure everything out on my own, and at this point an apology is not good enough. I've considered hiring a lawyer as Microsoft has seemingly ruined my computer, or at least, made it worse than what it was before. It seems their technical support agents do not know what they are doing and I would like some sort of compensation for the absolute disgusting support I have received.

I changed the video card in my computer. Their operating system (XP Pro) saw the hardware change and forced a product re-validation after it trashed the majority of my files. I made 5 calls to their support line where I'd explain the problem and get shuffled around person to person until eventually the system would play an automated message saying "Your call cannot be handled at this time." At this point, I'd get hung up on and restart the entire process.
This is the second time their anti-piracy feature trashed my computer software form a simple hardware change. Their system apparently, according to their tech support, said my registration number was not valid. Well, when I had to completely reinstall the operating system, which of course, means I have to spend literally days reinstalling all my legally purchased apps, the number on the DVD of the legally purchased XP installation disc worked fine. Their anti-piracy software is causing untold hours of wasted time by legitimate customers having to reinstall their operating system from scratch, because it forces it after simple things like a CMOS update or a video card change. I think our time should be compensated.

I purchased a new HP Compaq Presario in June of 2008. Windows Vista was pre-installed on the computer. Two weeks later, when I tried to log on to my computer, I got an error message stating the BOOTMGR was missing. I called HP and was told I had to re-install Windows Vista from a recovery disk, which I did, losing all my files, folders and programs which weren't pre-installed. To make a long story short, I have re-installed Windows Vista 15 times within a 2-month span. To sum it up, my computer is being accessed remotely by someone and I have the documentation to prove it.
Every day, if I get to log on, another folder, program, file, device, printer, has been modified and I no longer have permission to access them. I have no more audio, I no longer have permission to use my printer, and I can't get into My Documents because permission was denied. HP's only advice was telling me to quit modifying my files, when I asked them to look at some on my computer. I told them I wasn't doing the modifying, and that was the reason I was calling tech support - someone has the capability now to change my entire operating system. HP tech support told me to quit looking at the errors, reports, corrupted files, warnings that my registry was being tampered with, my anti-virus and spyware error logs, etc. They said my computer was fine.
It is still under warranty, yet HP refuses to help me at all. One tech support told me HP doesn't deal with intruders and unless I had a real issue, he had to hang up because he had other customers on hold who had real issues. Now, Microsoft is a little different. They initially told me I had to contact the FBI, which I did, and the person I spoke to and showed documents to, told me he didn't think they would investigate it because I wasn't a business. When I asked him why the FBI are listed on the Internet security websites as a contact, he shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know why. So I called Microsoft back and asked them several questions about programs and software packages appearing on my computer. I asked if these sort of things should be on a computer used for personal reasons only. They said no, and that it did sound like someone was accessing my computer. After explaining to them of all the resources I have contacted, what did they suggest?
Her answer was this: Microsoft does not have a security department for Internet intrusion and there was nothing they could do for me. I told her I had just been on Microsoft's website and there is a statement about possible hacking. I need to contact the Microsoft Security, which I believe they list as MSRA on the Web page. She said no, they had nothing like that. Okay, now I'm really mad. But just to humor myself, I asked her what I should do. Her reply was for me to go to my local police department and fill out a complaint. I told her she had to be kidding, but she wasn't. I then hung up.
Now, I am going to get all my documents, reports, files, logs, errors, and contact all media in my area. Maybe someone will be interested in my story as I want to make the public aware of what they can expect should their computer ever be compromised. Unless you're a million dollar corporation, a famous sports star, or a celebrity, the Average Joe gets no support or assistance from anyone.

Well, here we go again - Microsoft Vista and its automatic updates, April 17th, 09. It proceeded to update my system (without my permission, I might add) and in the process blew away access to my MS Outlook and MS Office. So I could try to reinstall my Outlook & Office from the original disk (2 years old now) but who knows what sort of impact that will have on my data? Now I can understand that with each one of it's security updates, it may have problems with third party software and hardware on the system, but it is not acceptable that it will cause problems with its own software such as Outlook & Office Suite that I purchased and am legally using.
My data is very valuable to me and given how difficult it is to get a hold of (and arrogant) Microsoft, I can't take any chances. I have called a Technician in to fix this, there is another $100.00 gone. So far, I have probably spent close to $800.00 fixing MS Vista’s issues. Your new operating system couldn't be more irritating to use with having to click on two to three windows every time I try to install a new application or acknowledge that its ok to show unsecured information every time I display a web page without having the option to say don't show me this message again. I've had my new computer for one week and I've had enough of your new operating system. I'm returning back to Windows XP. You've been pushing consumers to use their computers the way you think they should for years by giving the user less and less ability for personal configuration but you've really outdone yourself with Windows Vista. Discovered by accident (i.e. the company was not transparent about this, they merely make the site boot you out without explanation) that: a) Canadians do not have access to the upgrade, but instead must buy the entire package again; and b) Canadians pay 35% more for the entire package than Americans (despite our currencies being at or close to par for several years now).
The effect of this pricing discrepancy is that I will have to pay 125% more for the product in Canada, than in the US. This is the combined effect of not having access to the upgrade, which is cheaper than a full package, as well as the increased cost for Canadian vs American consumers. This is an outrageous situation and completely without merit, as other companies have been moving their product pricing to be in line with American pricing. With NAFTA, there are no extra duties or taxes, so the price should be the same.

And some computer companies have begau making new computers with Windows XP instead of the all fantastic Vista. I have a laptop that beeps at odd intervals. When it came time for HP to send me the packing material , so that I could send them the laptop for repair. They somehow managed to an address, that I no longer live at. This after I have repeated times changed my address with them.

On january 12, 2008 i purchased the the microsoft office ultimate steal 2007@ $59.95 and paid for the downloadable version and I also bought the DVD for $12.95(never received in the mail). I recieved a confirmation and was given an email with the downloadable version attached inwhich I attempted to download but once the installation of the download began it immediately said that my computer did not have the microsoft windows XP sp2 to complete this installation.
I had someone come to my home to look at my computer and they said that I have the correct program and they also attempted to download the ultimate steal and once the installation began we got the same message. I sent microsoft a letter to the address above and then I contacted them via the phone number above and spoke with someone named Surya, he gave me a case number 1061777271and he assisted me with the download but he promised to call me back in 30 minutes that day once the download completed, but i did not hear from him anymore that day and I went to install the download and I got the same message that my computer did not have the program needed to install but my computer has microsoft windowsXP sp2.
I needed this program for a technology class at school and the term is almost over.
The ultimate steal will not return my funds and have not sent to me the DVD to date. At this point I have been the one that has contacted them and persued this issue. Once they got my funds, it has been difficult to get someone to assist me via the email.

I purchased a new computer from Best Buy on 05-02-07 it came preloaded with windows vista. The program was impossible to use, after many weeks of dealing with support groups in India I was directed to E-machine corp. who sent out a new CD to reload Vista home premium. I again experiencd problems and continued to work with windows support- to no awail. The suport group said it was e-machines problem since they loaded the program on the computer,e-machine said it was a bad program made by Microsoft and that they should offer a fix.
Again I talked to microsoft suport in India and they said that there is a fix for their vista program and that I should just send them 80$ for the fix. I do not belive that I should send them more money to fix their problem since I just bought a new computer with their software loade. My bigest complaint is that when I go to E-mail it takes up to 3 minutes to load and the same for the internet connection, I have road runner and that is high speed connection. I requested for windows XP to replace what I have but Microsoft refuses. At this point I want my money back or the old wersion of XP so that I can use the computer.
My frustration with this has gone on way too long. Microsoft has baracated themselves so that it is impossible to talk to any one with authority. When I do get on the internet my complaint seems to be part of very many others with the same issues.
It has been 8 months of frustration, at this point I just want my money back662.10$ and they can have this computer.

I recently purchased a new computer, and unfortunately, it had Windows Vista installed on it. I have difficulty telling about all of the problems I have had with Vista. (When I boot up, it takes me to a page to create a new user, when I never requested it!) It only allows me to use their Internet browser (I much prefer Firefox), and on and on! Anyone else out there that's had problems--what did you do to rectify?
I cannot use the programs I prefer!

On November 27, 2007, I downloaded Windows Vista Home Bisic program at a cost of $99.95 which was paid for on my Debit Card. I had previously run the the Microsoft Vista test program on my Dell computer, which has Microsoft XP. The test indicated that Windows Vista would work on my sysrem. This has not been the case. Initially, Windows Vista blocked all of my programs, files and data saying ACCESS DENIED or Protected Mode:on or A required privilage is not held by the client (whatever that means) Through numerous hours long calls to Microsoft Support, I have gained access to a very few programs from my Windows XP; with very little hope that I will ever have unfettered access to all of my programs, files and data.
I want Microsoft to give me back my programs, files, and data.

Windows Vista is nothing but a piece of junk. I always get a "not responding" when trying to do anything. For the cost I should not have any trouble with new equipment. Since the day I brought this computer home with the Vista operating system I've had nothing but trouble. Spent 12 hours yesterday doing a restore and re-downloading my programs, thus losing a lot of my pictures and documents. I would like to down grade to XP-64 but would cost me money I don't have. I would just like to have software that really works. I never had this trouble with Windows Me or my XP on my laptop. Microsoft should do a recall so people can get this fixed at their cost.

I purchased an eMachine computer a few months ago that included the new Vista OS. Unbeknownst to me, the Vista OS is incompatible with my ISP and neither Microsoft or eMachines is willing to do anything to fix the problem. I first tried to work with Charter Communications (My ISP) and they tried everything to get it to work with their current Internet technologies. They finally conceded that they cannot help me until Microsoft sends out software to ISP's that will fix the incompatibility issues.
I then tried calling Microsoft to get some help. They couldn't make the Vista OS work either and then told me if I wanted more advanced Technical Support I would have to pay a $79.00 fee (up front). I said that was unsatisfactory and they promptly told me they couldn't help and to try eMachines. eMachines has an 800 number that is of no help at all and sends you to a different (toll) number to seek customer service. This number puts you on hold indefinitely!! I have a new computer that is only good for burning CDs and playing purchased games! I am using my 10 year old Power Macintosh 7300/180 to write this complaint as well as use e-mail and or internet! I knew I should have stayed with Macintosh!!
Nothing happened, but it could cost me plenty in order to get connected to the internet with a new computer and a supposedly new Operating System (Vista). What a pain!!!

I am making a complaint in general to Microsoft's absurd practice of forcing people to purchase their new vista software; When I purchased a Dell Leptop this June, I was told that I NO LONGER have the option to pay for a previous version of software and will be forced to accept the new version of software per Dell-Microsoft agreement. This is high way robbery! Why am I forced to buy something I do not want and do not know how to operate? Has not the supreme ask Microsoft to behave themselves, else they would be consider a monopoly yet again?
I do not understand why America allows this kind of business behavior to continue; Microsoft alone is FORCING AMERICA TO WATSE MANPOWER BY WASTING TIME TO RE_LEARN a behavior. If one calculates how many man-hours the learning curve for getting used the new and not-improved software, one will find it is a great waste of time. Can someone please tell America is not going take this business malpractice sitting down? Thanks.

My complaint is about the windows program. There were programs in my computer, that I'm now been retricted from using. For example, I have sonic stage music stored in my computer by Sony. Since I installed the windows vista premium, I can't use these programs. I must go on as a administrator and, the program always cuts off and, I'm been told that you will investigate the reason why this happens. I have a vast listing of times my computer turns off on its own.
