Bitdefender Anit-Virus functions as well as comparable anti-viruses. Nothing exceptional. It is support that is lacking in this company. Auto-generated emails are only useful if they pertain to the situation at hand. Bitdefender auto emails contain erroneous information in which one can only ascertain their true intent, if having knowledge of the procedures of this company. Much time I have wasted contacting this company to straighten out their messes caused by auto-generated emails.
They finally make a specific reply stating what their true intent was, which should have been stated in the first place in order to prevent miscommunication and more time wasted contacting them again and again. Their emails are from a non-monitored box and one must go online and log in in order to communicate each time. Common sense does not prevail here in that auto emails are not appropriate in every instance. Please get it together Bitdefender and put a little effort into your customer support.

NO STAR - Zero Review. Notified that my 2 year/10PC subscription expired today (it actually has 449 days left) and BD disabled all services. All machines unprotected now and no response from BD CS. I have been using this software for over 11 years and EVERY subscription has had issues. They conveniently delete your 'payments' from their central app and you have to work through your bank to find the payment to them. This often takes weeks, while your systems are idled. They conveniently delete previous subscription data (date/amount/id code) thereby erasing your renewal/paid subscription from their system - YOU have to prove you purchased their software from them.
Had I been an auto-renewal sucker, they would have renewed my subscription 15 months early. NEVER use auto renewal as you can buy software retail for 1/4-1/3 of the renewal price. I can now attempt to resolve this issue and idle all of my systems for 4-8 weeks or purchase a reputable software package, delete BD TS & VPN and move on. No one can afford to be down for months. Save yourself the grief and purchase another product.

These password changes and the 2 verify is just ridiculous. Tech support sucks, uninstalling the thing sucks. I don't know if I'll ever get this thing uninstalled, let alone get them off of the annual recharge of my cc. I will just cancel the dam cc if I have to.

I am a majorly ticked off customer. Just got pinged for $151.00 by these jerks. Checked and they have me subscribed for three different versions of Bitdefender in a two person home. Checked my records and they charged me an additional $49.00 last year. They warned me my subscription was expiring. I believed them, because I "opted out of auto-renew." I even discussed the matter over the phone. OBVIOUSLY, the only way to opt out of Bitdefender is to treat them like an attack on your card and cancel it. When a virus program acts like what you're trying to defend against, are they really an anti-virus program? Avoid them, unless you want the prices to MORE THAN double and to be billed for product to which you did not subscribe.

No matter what $25 or $35 deal you get for 1 year with 5 devices for total protection antivirus internet etc. YOU WILL BE CHARGED $95 upon yearly renewal. It took me chatting 3 x to them, and each time they said they would send me an email and they would follow up with reply. NOPE! I had to chat with them 3x and now it was 7 days since they took my money. Finally said they would issue a refund, and I would get it back in 5 days. SO a total of 12 days. They are very irresponsible with refunds. And since they are not based in the USA you can't do much. Bitdefender is a good virus malware program but buy it on eBay or Amazon without subscription renewal. Without warning $95 was missing from account. No courtesy email, nothing.

This is one of the worst nightmare piece of antivirus software we have ever purchased.
(1) Installation on multiple computers (purchased a 5 PC license) a horror. The company will NOT, not even on request, give you the link to the full download. You only get a starter mini package and then have to repetitively download over and over again the full 500+MB package. Good luck when your company has 100+ machines to cover... I had to research the user forum to find the link to the complete download package - So facit: It is available, but the company are unwilling to share - ZERO stars!
(2) But it gets is worse: After about one week the software was detecting a thread in one of our Chrome browser tabs and froze up, leaving a white or black field on the screen to make it impossible to operate the PC any further. A reboot did not help, after the thread was discovered again, Bitdefender software crashed again and blocked the PC. No help was offered from Bitdefender, Refund was not offered, even the suggestion to make a donation to the Ukraine was refused.
Summary: Horrible company, incompetent customer service and NOT working anitvirus software! Stay away, not waste your $$$, purchase the much better and way more reliable competitor software (McAf...).

Stick with the facts (06-May-22). I have email Bitdefender about payment and change to 4 company's account details. I got advice to send through details which was already include into the email send (auto response likely) I have used more than one email to get little to no service. I waited 2 weeks for a response only to find that they request order details which as already include in the email send. I was unable to renew after 2 weeks of emails, some emails just got response that request was complete with no action taken by Bitdefender support. Be warned. (I a Bitdefender client for the last 8 year and have never experience this lack of service in my life) I work in the IT Department.

The Internet Security platform is solid and usually functions as designed. HOWEVER, when problems arise, getting anything but 20 min hold times and disconnections from customer service is the norm. After being on hold for the third time for 18 minutes and being cut off again, and after dealing with contact screens that simply freeze and activation login links that eternally state that the `server could not be reached', we spent just under two hours attempting to reinstall the program. Not sure about anyone else, but when a product fails to operate as hyped and requires hours of end-user effort to get it back up and working, it makes me want to bill the seller for those wasted hours.

I picked up Bitdefender when my router was having an issue with some sort of worm, to make sure nothing from that got into my files. Since then, I have been bombarded with pop-up after pop-up, pings and alerts for hypothetical problems I could have, and the software I should buy to prevent it. 2-4x a day this thing will advertise a service, the window appearing in front of whatever I'm doing, to sell me more of itself. I regret ever spending money on Bitdefender. Do not buy this malware disguised as protection for your computer. I haven't used the mobile app, but I can't imagine it's any less intrusive.

I tend to evaluate new products for my desktop especially when they're not FREE. The BitDefender product looked like a great product for Virus protection so I bought into it. The company also had a number of other products they wanted me to purchase, but I declined not knowing they would subsequently hit me up with daily popups for those same products. If I knew I was going to have to tolerate these daily annoyances I would have selected a different product. I will NOT renew my license to use BitDefender when my 1-year license expires.

The Bitdefender software crashed my laptop. I was no longer able to access public access files. Even after uninstalling the software on both systems (Mac 2021 MacBook Pro and a 2020 iMac), I still cannot access anything on my iMac. I have found remnants of their software in various areas. Deleting that has still not fixed the issue. Tech support has been worthless and with a bad attitude as well. I have yet to find a way to leave a review on THEIR website. I will now have to reformat my hard drive and do a complete reinstall of the Macros as well as my programs and data in order to resolve this issue. What a nightmare!!! DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE!!

I have used Bitdefender for years and had a good experience over time. The past December, one of my email accounts, phone, and bank accounts got hacked. I was notified via email by the bank that changes were being made. My wife informed me that my number showed a different number when I called her. My passwords stopped working for an email account that I use regularly. I immediately called customer service about what I needed to do, and I was asked, "What would you like for us to do?" I was confused. They gave no advice and told me there was nothing they could do for me if I got hacked. I thought that was their specialty. Customer service was very short with me, and then we hung up. I expected warnings and alarms to go off when this nightmare first started. Instead, I got a shoulder shrug.

I’ve used Bitdefender for over 3 years but this time will be my last renewal. I’m not a IT professional so I have no idea about its performance. However, the popup notifications (“Suspicious connection blocked”) are really annoying. They keep appearing at the right corner, preventing me from typing in another app. If I want to type again, I have to use the mouse to click on the windows I am working with. I tried to stop it but failed. I wrote to Bitdefender years ago but till now no improvements for this. They seem not to care about their customers’ feedback. If you don’t want to be annoyed like me, do not use Bitdefender Total Security.

Told me someone would call back in 48 hours. Very poor customer service and to be honest this software has so many pop ups that are very annoying that I was not going to continue using anyway.

I have an Orbi internet router and make a purchased an internet security Armor pro through Netgear Orbi app which owned by Bitdefender. By that time I activated the wrong Orbi router which I previously owned and requested Netgear to fix the problem so I could activate to my current Orbi router. The process took over a month and Netgear can’t solve the problem therefore pointing to Bitdefender. I contacted Bitdender and asked them to solve the issue. The process took over month again and still Bitdefender can’t solve it pointing to Netgear. I contact them back and forth but they blame other side. Finally I asked Bitdefender to remove the current security Armor pro then send me a different activation code or refund my money but they refused. Netgear and Bitdefender pointing finger at each other making me hanging in the middle without solution.

I purchased this product in late 2020 for $29. It was automatically renewed two days ago for $94. That's not illegal, it's just brain-dead marketing. Is it a good product? Yes. Can you find similarly good products for much less money? Yes. I will be severing the "subscription" through my PayPal account and I'll be looking for another product at the end of the term.

After almost a year using BD, I got the renew email. I simply called support (early morning) and told them I no longer needed the software. On the renew day, they charged me anyway so I sent an email AND called and told the support person about my previous contact with them. I was nice and told them I wanted a full refund of $64.98.
About a week later upon reviewing my card statement, I noticed a refund from them of $20 and change. I sent them another email and told them I DID NOT want an extended subscription but my full refund. I simply did not need BD any longer and wanted the balance of my refund, and wouldn’t pursue the matter further if I received it. I didn’t contact them again but waited. About a month and a half later I received a FULL refund for the purchase. So in my case I came out over $20 ahead after a year’s subscription - well, Merry Christmas!

This is an adware product. It will spam you continuously with its offerings. You could be in the middle of a presentation and you'll get a spam notification popup advertising some pointless upgrade from Bitdefender. It's absolutely not an appropriate product for professional use. Their product also auto-renews at twice the price you originally paid. From what I've read, most InfoSec professionals recommend just using Windows Defender, included with Windows for free, adding uBlock Origin, and scanning any suspicious files with Virus Total. I haven't seen Bitdefender mentioned in any real recommendations.

They emailed me on July 15, 2021 to renew my subscription which I did through Paypal for $96.06. On July 19, 2021 they billed my paypal account again for the same subscription and charged me $160.11. When I complained, they didn't want to refund one of the charges. They wanted to extend the subscription through 2023. They said I enrolled in their automatic renewal. (What?) I can't do business with a company that pulls a fast one over on me. I'll take my business (and money) to a company with legitimate practices. I am contesting the charges with paypal and am closing my paypal account as a result of this. Bitdefender is trying to make me an offer I can't refuse or cancel.

Don't do it! I purchased Bitdefender anti-virus and within one week their program made it impossible for me to delete files, and it made it impossible to move files from one location to another location. It blocked me from navigating files and told me that I am not authorized to move a file. I used admin and all kinds of tricks to override their prohibition, until I finally gave up. I had to install another anti-virus software (free by the way) to force delete their garbage from my computer. I lost the files that bitdefender changed and made impossible to open or use. I don't remember how I finally got rid of bitdefender from my computer but it's gone... Almost.
What isn't gone is their annual automatic debit for renewal. I cancelled the renewal of their automatic subscription, but it didn't cancel. No, of course not. It (they) tried to debit my account for $98.00 and my account rejected it ONLY because my account (that account) had less than $98.00 in it. So, when I got a notification that bitdefender (cocombitdefendercom) tried to debit my account for $98.00 dollars, I called my card company and had my card cancelled and applied for a new card. So, that should take care of that problem of bitdefender getting my money.
And then, there's the problem of logging in to my bitdefender account. Apparently, from what I have read in these reports, people can't log in to their account, or they can't turn off the auto renewal. Well, I can't log into my account. I tried twice but the password "is wrong." The password isn't wrong. I keep IMMACULATE records of all of my passwords on everything I use. I have them all typed out in alphabetical order on 5 sheets of paper A-Z. I KNOW that my password for bitdefender wasn't wrong. So, I played along... I requested a new password reset. They sent me a link. So, I attempted to reset my password and SHAZZAAAM! Their login page told me I tried too many times and that I could try again in 15 minutes. No, that's plenty. I'm not playing anymore. Game over.
So, now my bank card is no longer active, so these ripoff scam artists can go eat cracked corn, because I don't care. They aren't getting another dime from me. If they try it again, and if they somehow hack into any bank account or card that I DON'T have on file with them (because I only used one card with them [the one I cancelled and applied for a new one]), I will be reporting these ** to the Attorneys General Office and filing a complaint against them. Now, you do what you want. The chances are you already had a bad experience with them, which is why you're here. If not, and if you are thinking about buying a bitdefender subscription, or if you are thinking about trying them out for free just to see what happens. Good luck! I warned you!

This may be an OK anti-virus but it is not compatible with all software. I have a small CNC program I need for my business. Every change in Bitdefender blocks it from running again. I have to uninstall Bitdefender from my computer to use my software and then reinstall. A total waste of time. Their tech support is entirely robot run and cannot address any specific issues. It only generates a stream of useless, generic, time wasting suggestions. Tech support is terrible you cannot deal with a human being. When I first started using Bitdefender they were a smaller company and could actually provide support. Not anymore. I went to their website in good faith to pay for and download the Anti-Virus Software. After paying for the one year subscription I was shocked to see I was purposely locked into a webpage with no escape by this company. Their goal here after confirming your purchase is not offer you the download or any information what-so-ever. They purposely do not give you a way to leave the page short of shutting down Google altogether. This is because they offer you a $29 fee to automatically install the Virus Software for you. They make it purposely vague so you think you may have already paid and all you have to do is click that $29 since it is the only place on the screen you can click.
There is no Opt out button or No Thanks button. This is scary behavior form a virus protection company to see those who are supposed to be protecting you trying to scam you for another $29. That page should have an Opt out button and then take you directly to the download page. Worse, I waiting for 15 minutes and nothing happened on that page, so I closed Google and checked my emails to see if maybe they sent it to me. There was no email. 1 hour later I had to call support just to get what I had paid for. I had to ask the guy to send me the email which allows you to get the software you paid for. This company is scary bad. This is horrible behavior and makes one wonder if they are willing to do a scam like this. How do we not know they are the ones creating the viruses just to sell the anti virus software. BE Very Wary of this company. Used Bitdefender for years but lately I've given up on them improving anything. Box2 subscription which is cloud service costs more than Netgear armor which is basically same experience of protection..Why? They removed vault options without notification making me decrypt GB of data manually with program, removed VPN to its own app which is buggy and crashes or has connect issues. Hotspot shield used by others don't have this issue. It basically seems to sit on pc and that's about it, it did not detect my camera or mic was being used by chrome or dells pc doctor. It misses accurately if devices are actually ok or not via cloud service with box 2, box was always crashing, resets needed, you name it. It's probably why they don't sell them anymore right now. I actually showed them once it was routing traffic to VA and using AWS cloud services basically leaking out its own encrypted channel.
Total Security scans fast but other than its Auto mode you only have a shred tool or optimize and that is it, Kaspersky, Norton, TrendMicro and others have more to offer and that says a lot since I left Norton's core option years ago with it being worse than bitdefender's. Basically top two products today are Bitdefender and Kaspersky and so far Bitdefender taking over netgear products making lagging networks or acting as a middle man cloud gateway and several issues has made it a maybe to me to use. Bitdefender's heuristic scanning results in false positives against legitimate software, which is not unusual. What is unusual is that it also stomps .DAT files accessed by that software. This results in corruption of Pervasive/Actian/Btrieve database files resulting in massive record loss and the need to repair or replace the .DAT files.
