I have been dealing with DirecTV for the several years. I recently call in about 5 months ago and changed my plan and that's when hell began. I was being charge for NFL Sunday tickets that I didn't want and I call in time to have it removed but every month I am still being billed for it. So, every month I have to take time out of my schedule to call and explain the same situations over and over every month for the past 5 months. Not to mention that every time I called one of the representative always say it is in the notes but what I don't understand is why it is still on my monthly bill. I have to called them for the past 5 months and the problem still haven't been resolve. I have come to the conclusion that it may be time to go elsewhere. I'm sick of wasting 30 minutes to discuss the same thing over and over.

Directv is NOT a trustworthy company. I talked with three different service representatives and they all gave me different pricing. The thing that bothered me the most was with the two year price guarantee. The first representative offered me a two year price guarantee of $87.80 a month including taxes and 2 televisions. The next offered me a deal of $75.85 a month, but said to call before the first year to negotiate a lower price for the second year. The third representative who was the superior to the second basically said those prices were not accurate and they do not offer a 2 year price guarantee.
I think they are a bunch of crooks and cannot be trusted. I also found out they just got dumped 2 weeks ago by CenturyLink because their prices have gone up. You can no longer bundle with CenturyLink. I would definitely go with Dish TV, because they have much lower prices and they offer a 2 year price guarantee plus many other options that Directv does not offer. Make sure you do your homework before you sign with Directv, otherwise you might be disappointed.

Stay away from DIRECTV Stream at all costs. I've had my service for two months now and the picture constantly freezes or buffers. The longer I watch it, the worse it gets. And I have a brand new 55" Smart TV. I have to keep my phone next to me so when I'm watching a game, I can switch to that when my DIRECTV Stream service goes down. It's not a question of if, it's when. Do yourself a favor, stay far away from DIRECTV Stream. It's a colossal waste of money and time!

I have been a customer since 1998. As my bill goes up, up, up, any help from DirecTV stops. I have emailed and called for help lowering my bill and all they can offer is a lower tier service. My advice to anyone thinking of DirecTV is go buy a ROKU TV. DirecTV offers 35 to 40 children, music and crap viewing channels. You have to pay for a top tier to get anything worth viewing.

After having numerous issues with my streaming service, I contacted the company. When the recording picks up, I am extremely specific about the issue I'm having. However, I keep getting associates that tell me I’ve contacted the wrong department. Again, EXTREMELY specific with my issues. I then proceed to get transferred to 2 other departments that were unable to assist as well. Finally, I was transferred to the correct department. However, I wasted 2 hours of my time and was disconnected twice, having to start all over again. When I asked the agent if I could speak to a supervisor, I was informed that they would not be able to assist me with that issue. So what I’m hearing is that reps can do whatever they want without being held accountable. Pathetic! Spend the few extra dollars for better service. It’ll save you the stress in the long run!

I love ATT internet. DIRECTV is a bad product, too expensive, with terrible service. DO NOT AGREE TO PURCHURSE DIRECTV. You will have regrets. Their first bill was double what they promised. They fixed that eventually. HUGE bill to cancel.

As you know promotions end and customers with auto pay don’t always catch it when promotions end and your bill triples, almost quadruples sometimes like mine did.. 70$ - 285. I call to fix the situation and I’m told the three months of almost 900$ In charges in the last three months, as opposed to the total of 240$ it was supposed to be, could be resolved with a 60$ credit. Wow. So I cancel service and am told I’ll still have to pay another 285$ for the current month I’m am only 1/3 through. So I have paid 1500$ for 6 months. I have been with you forever and you couldn’t make this right as a company?
Anyway I cancel and am told to return my equipment and there would be some instructions sent to me, they never were sent so it is now my responsibility to call and get your company to do their job and send me the instructions I was told would be sent, and if I wouldn’t have taken the 30 min on the phone to fix your mistake I would have been charged for that too! What a joke. This company used to be legit and now is operating like organized criminals. I don’t deserve to be treated like this after supporting your company financially for half of my life.

This company should be shut down. Do not believe them when they offer you a complimentary HBO/Cinemax package free for 3 months because they use this to keep charging you on your bill. Keep calling to have them remove it but say they will credit it next bill. Sorry, we will pay ONLY the charges we agreed to pay, nothing else. I can go without DirecTV and go with other providers so advise others go elsewhere unless you like to keep calling every month disputing charges with incompetent people

12/9/21: Cancelled my account 7/14/21 because the price kept going up twice a year, and returned all equipment, due $62.34 credit for overpayment. Contacted Directv billing dept 7/14/21 requested a refund, was told I would receive the $62.34 credit in 45 days, didn't happen. I've called them at least 7 more times including today, every time I'm told I will be notified by email when my credit is processed, which never happens. They are like talking to a robot and say they know I'm due the credit and I just have to wait for the next billing cycle for them to send it, they said I should receive an email update by Dec. 24th. If I don't my next call will be to their coporate headquaters and ask to speak to the president.

Folks, just don't do it. That is unless you wish to get gouged on service, billing and enjoy a language barrier when trying to straighten things out. No loyalty or care for long term customers. I had called to cancel the service after setting up streaming with another far more reputable company. I shipped the equipment back as directed and then received a bill ($30 more) for the remainder of the month when I wasn't using their service! They refused to prorate the bill and told be that was their policy. So for 3-4 weeks without equipment I was told to pay the bill for the entire month. Hence the not so great review. I'm tearing the antenna out of the ground right after this review, never ever to go back to AT&T/DirecTV. What else would you expect from such a gigantic company??

Have had DirecTV for years. Sold our house and were in process of building a new home, so suspended DirecTV service for 6 months. House build was delayed due to supply chain shortages. DirecTV proceeded to continue billing after the 6 month suspension despite the service not being hooked up to anything. Too many phone calls to count, different explanations every call. DirecTV continues to send monthly bills for a service that is not active. This has been happening for several months. Worst customer service I've ever encountered, Will never recommend DirecTV to anyone. If I could give less than one star, I would!

I used DirectTV for 15 years. I moved, so I cancelled my account. They kept charging me for 4 months and still counting after canceling. Then charged me 160+ bucks for "early cancellation" after 15 years! Never gave me an address or return label to return the equipment and then sent me to collections because I didn't pay them for it even though I never got notice that I ever owed them. At this point, it's adding up to 800 bucks and they won't correct any of these errors. I have to go through my bank now to cancel and attempt to get my money back. I was going to use them when my move is complete but now I won't use them or ATT for anything ever!

Directv is horrible. Extremely problematic, Oh a cloud in the sky, oh a rainstorm or snow, be prepared to read a book for the many times your signal is blocked. Internet, horrible, very slow, signal frequently interrupted. They will be happy to speak with you, to help YOU troubleshoot and fix it yourself, over & over & over. Never get direcTV

The single star isn't rating DirecTV overall but an incident, but it taints the company as a whole. We were having some trouble with reception and I called tech support, who recommended new receivers and added that they're FREE. I pressed the rep on this and was told repeatedly that everything is free. We got the new stuff in the mail, sent the old stuff back, and had a rep come and set it all up.
As far as reception, nothing changed: we still have issues with some channels (pixilation, blackouts) with NO weather involved. To top it off, our monthly bill went up by $25. So much for free! When we complained, they obviously went with whatever was more lucrative to them (higher-adjusted bill) than siding with the rep who said "free." The rep listening to the complaint lamely offered $30 off for a year, but since our bill went up by $25, we suspected that after a year, it'll just be $30 over the original, or $5 over the current bill. We said, "NO THANK YOU." Lame customer service!

This is the worst company I have ever experienced AT&T between their phone service and their TV service satellite DirecTV ...It's absolutely horrible. I would rather have nothing than deal with them.. Their response when you have a problem is to shut it off and start over. Obviously you've already tried that. They have no technical support. They don't know what they're doing. Their equipment is horrible. You have problems every week with their TV. My dad had to just stop phone service land line as they couldn't fix it after 3 weeks with a phone. He had a lifetime. Then you can't cancel immediately and they tell you wait until next month then they keep billing you.

We live out in the country. So as we were calling around we emphasized where we live to make sure internet service was available at speeds we need as I work from home. My husband called AT&T/Directv. They told him we could bundle TV and internet for a better deal. They asked if we had phone jacks in the house, we told them no. They assured him that we could get internet service no problem and that we had 14 days to cancel if we were not happy with the service. They came out to set up the satellite on Wednesday, 10/20/21 and were supposed to be out on Friday, 10/22/21 to set up the internet. They called Friday and said they could not make it and call back to reschedule. So my husband did and they said the starter kit was mailed out and to go ahead and set it up ourselves, again we have no phone jacks and that is what they sent.
We finally got a hold of someone and they said we would get a tech on Wednesday, 10/27/21. Tech came out and said they would have to leave a phone line on top of our lawn until they could get someone out to bury it. Drill holes into the house for the phone jacks and the speed will only be about 1 Mbps. There was no way that would work for us so we said no thank you and he left. We called to cancel everything right away and then we were told to pay a $480.00 cancelation fee for the Directv. We had the satellite TV for a total of 7 days, not the 14 we were explicitly told we would have. Said their policy is 24 hours on the TV. We were never told the difference of timeframes. They would not work with us and we are having to pay the $480. Very disappointed that they will not work with us at all. Will never order satellite again. Will never recommend them to anyone.

I have had DirecTV for over 2 years and decided I wanted to get rid of it. I have tried for 3 weeks to send it back and everytime I call they tell me something different. The return label is in the mail. Nope not for 3 weeks now waiting.

Never again will be a customer. Repeated programming. No signs at all when raining. They get you 1st year and then they will hit you with a bill after for an outrageous monthly bill and then stick you with early contract feed termination for the rest. Will never again be a customer or recommend it.

I was told by a representative from DIRECTV that if I subscribed and kept showtime for 3 months that I would receive a rebate of $75.00 for 3 months. I held up my end of the deal only for DIRECTV to tell me that their representative made a mistake and they won't honor THE CONTRACTUAL deal. Jeremiah a manager with DIRECTV tried to insult me by saying I wasn't smart enough to understand the verbiage of the conversation.

DirecTV is absolute trash. No customer service whatsoever. It will be two weeks before we can get a technician out here to fix our service, and we had to jump through hoops to get that. Hours and hours on the phone just to keep getting transferred to someone else who has no idea what is going on. You have to tell your entire life story to every agent just to hear, "Oh let me get you to the right department." This is crap. Meanwhile paying for the sports package - but have not had service for weeks.

The streaming service is expensive and difficult to unsubscribe. I tried to cancel the service the very next day. They charge a 30 dollar connection fee. They charged me twice. Getting through to customer service was very difficult. They refunded me the fee but then charged me a month's service after I canceled. The tv service was bad also. The sound was delayed.

I’ve had DirecTV for a long time and I feel that the past few months they have really declined in everything. It seems I have to call once a week to dispute a charge that I never authorized and they could care less for that fact. Recently I needed a new receiver and without my knowledge they put me back into a contract. I asked for where I signed and agreed to that and of course they don’t have and are not willing to do anything to fix it or make me feel better. I cannot wait for the two years to finish so I can cancel joyfully. Such a poorly run company and not customer service oriented at all. It feels like the attitude now is “oh well, you’re going to have to deal with it”. Again, I will not be renewing my directv and I recommend you don’t get yourself into this ridiculousness. Go to one of the many streaming services for half of the price and no contracts.

I ordered Directv a month ago and they have canceled 5 appointments. I have spent over 20 hours on the phone with no help. My wife has lost wages taking off work to be here for appointments and they haven't showed up. When they finally did show up, they accidentally turned off my internet, left without telling me why, said they would come back, and never did. Additionally, they canceled the free streaming while we wait for installation and told me that they couldn't turn it back on until my receivers are installed. However, I can't get anyone here to install my receivers. If you are anywhere around Missouri City or Sugar Land Texas go elsewhere! This is the worst customer service I have ever seen, and I would have moved on a long time ago if they didn't have the NFL Sunday Ticket.

I would NEVER recommend Directv to anyone. I was a 15 year customer before AT&T bought them. Left soon after AT&T bought them. Decided to give them another shot and it was the worst decision I made. Customer service has NO clue what they're doing. They make promises that they don't keep and then they just forward you to different departments that have NO clue what they're doing. I've spent hours and hours on the phone with them and I get nowhere each time. The company doesn't care about any of their customers. If you're thinking about going to AT&T, DON'T DO IT!!!

The first gentleman I spoke to whose name I cannot pronounce, got angry with me and told me to ** you. I told him I was going to report him to the Better Business Bureau and he again said to ** you. And then hung up on me. I called back and just press button one for payment to get to a different person. This person's name was Ryan. I asked if he was the same gentleman because they had the same accent. He said no he was Ryan. I said, "I want to let you know that I'm going to be reporting to the Better Business Bureau for being cussed out by the previous gentleman." He said, "Well here I'll tell you this. You can ** you also." So the Better Bureau Better Business Bureau would not file a complaint because I I wrote the word **. But that is what those gentleman told me. ** you. Three to four times. How can companies get away with this.

It took a ton of trying to get our service canceled but after lots of phone calls we finally got it confirmed canceled. We received confirmation e-mail and information on returning the equipment BUT THEY STILL KEEP BILLING US FOR SERVICE!!! We call customer service and all they want to do is try and sign us back up! DirecTV keeps sending me emails and calling to offer me the free gift of NFL ticket. My household no longer views professional sports as entertainment as they have political agendas so we are not interested. I called directv to see what others options were for my free gift. None was their response. So their idea of a gift is what they're willing to give which is no choice other than the one thing that nobody wants so now they're offering it up as a gift, the NFL ticket. They should just call it an offer rather than trying to disguise it as a really bad gift that people won't even pay for anymore. Might as well offer me garbage, bad haircut, dog crap for my on time paying loyal long time consumer patronage..

I had spoken to the loyalty department on another item a few weeks back and they brought to my attention that I was getting the Sunday Ticket for 2021 free since I was a loyal customer. Today I reviewed my bill and I was charged. I called DIRECTV today to ask what happened, they could not answer why, so they asked to call me back. 45 minutes later they called me back and immediately transferred me to the Loyalty Department that told me I was not getting it for free and that the person that told me that should of not said anything. Did not offer anything, just said sorry and could I help you with anything else even though we should of not said that to you. I read reviews online and I am not the only customer that was told this and then DIRECTV walked back what they said. Bad customer service and getting people to pay for a service.

Friends of mine had one TV with DirecTV and due to the husband having a bad stroke needed another TV added. For all telephone conversations, I was listening on speakerphone and can testify as to what was said. They quoted a price of $7 per month in addition to adding a $9 protection package which was cancelable any time. It was clearly stated "No other costs". When they came to install, they tried to charge $99 for delivery. After 4 hours the installer got it waved and completed the installation. After the installation, they said there was an additional $10 per month which they said was for HD TV which all their new equipment comes with (and was not needed for a 20" TV). They refused to remove the charge despite what was quoted. I paid the bill on my personal credit card, to help my friends.
I contested the bill with my credit card company. Before it could be decided, they recharged the amount to my friends, and began calling my friends regularly threatening to cancel the service. Being under great stress, my friends asked me to cancel contesting the bill. This is clearly the worst company I have ever worked with, morally, ethically, and professionally. They were made well aware of the situation from day one. The sales department made misrepresentations and the billing department charges what they want, regardless of what the customer was told. Also, as an FYI, they also leave little time for bills to be paid such that with current post office delays, even if paid the day after receipt, it can sometimes not be paid on time, requiring phone calls to get late charges removed.

This Tech came out and refuse to do the job. All of a sudden they don't walk on roofs. But they have been doing it for years. He didn't even try to see if he can strap it on the chimney. Customer service tried to help but did not contact a field manager.

I have been a customer since 2004, cancelled my service both Internet and TV in June 2021 because they continue to add charges and increase my monthly payments. I sent back my equipment on July 7, 2021 as directed and obtained a tracking number. As of today I am still dealing with getting the account straight. I have called and spoken with numerous "customer service representatives" in order to attempt to get their mistakes corrected.
All I receive is excuses on why the account was not properly noted, they are working from home with limited access and one representative, Louis, laughed at me when I suggested they were not properly handling my account and was told, "we know how to handle accounts." Obviously they don't, I have had to call over 6 times to attempt to get the account corrected and provide them with the tracking number. Where are the supposed "notes" on my account? What kind of "customer service" is that? Whether initially setting up service or cancelling service, people/customers deserve to be treated with respect and their accounts handled properly, especially after being a loyal paying customer over 20 years...I expected better.
I DO NOT recommend dealing with such rude, incompetent individuals claiming to run a business that they can't even note an account properly. I will also be contacting the BBB, as I have noted every date and time I had to call to attempt to get the account straighten out and provide the tracking information for equipment that I returned. It appears to me that this is an attempt to not refund my credit they owe me. Because all the equipment was in the same box, (i.e. Genie, five TV boxes with remotes, and a router), but they are claiming I never returned the Genie? WOW...I have spent so much time and effort on getting this straight, I felt the need to warn others what kind of "customer service" is expected when you deal with DTV/AT&T.

I waited all day for a tech to show up in Stratton VT, he never came. I called multiple times during the day. What started as an 8-12 noon appt. kept getting pushed later and later but he never called or showed up at all. Horrible customer service. I am sorry I ever got DirecTV

I would give the management 0 if I could. We have been loyal customers of DirecTV since 1997. Over the past 10 years the "loyalty" department has been most unloyal to us. Just this year (2021) we had issues with a DVR that was supposed to be replaced. It was supposedly ordered and we were told it was delivered but was actually never shipped. After talking to 3 supposed representatives we talked to a representative who actually was good and agreed to give us a retroactive discount for June since we were minus one DVR for that month and had been jerked around by their "loyalty" representatives.
We also changed to a cheaper plan. On our online account I looked up my bill and took a screenshot dated 7/12/21 that said amount due of $125... I paid that amount before the due date and yesterday received a bill that showed an unpaid balance of $121 plus another month's worth of charges. I called the loyalty department today and the recording stated "due to circumstances beyond our control we cannot take your call..." The AT&T parent company guys are the phone company!!!
I called another number and talked to Jessica who was good but didn't have the authority to do anything and I ended up talking to the floor manager, Aiden who was quite rude and refused to zero out my account (over $121) after we have paid you anywhere from $70,000 to $86,000 to Directv over the past 25 years. Apparently I cannot send a screen shot to anyone to prove that I paid what the Directv website said was due and their so called loyalty manager was threatening to cut off my service.

My brother is disabled by stroke and on disability. He felt he was told there wasn't a contract because he was a long time ATT cust (of course there was). I didn't know he'd signed up for this program. When I found out what happened, I called to get him out of it because it would cost him almost 20% of his monthly income once the price went up after a year. DirecTV would NOT ever consider waiving or reducing the cancellation fee, even when we are talking about a disabled person that didn't understand what he was agreeing to. That's their business model. I know for a fact that others have had that fee reduced or waived with OTHER TV services. DirecTV manager tells me "a contract is a contract". Your call if you want to deal with a company that is so heartless they will take my brother's grocery money to get out of their service, but I'll tell everyone not to get DirecTV. #NEVERDIRECTV

After cancelling DirecTV because of rate hikes and poor customer service, I sent my equipment back in the manner in which they wanted. They claim they haven’t received it. They have the tracking number and all other pertinent information. Several phone calls and total frustration later they said it was resolved. Nope. I got a bill for 280.00 saying they haven’t received my equipment. Only thing left to do was file a claim with the BBB. They do not follow through with what they say. I’m convinced they put customers through this to collect extra money. Be careful.

They raise my rates every year. Also, when I add or take something off my plan, I have to worry about my new bill changes are correct. I have a number of times over the years where I have to call them back and spend time on the phone getting it straightened out.

It took over a year before the service would work without interference. Service had to come out about once every two weeks. I had 4 complete system changes. Still has very poor customer service. Being rural, our area is stuck with satellite for TV, but DirecTV is horrible. Looking to try DISH when my contract is up.

Their programming is pretty good. Of course the more you get the higher the bill. But you can call yearly and complain, threaten to leave and they’ll knock a $150 bill down to $90 which is great but a pain to do that. Overall score 8 out of 10.

Att/DirecTV, is a big rip off, their equipment is failing and they expect you to buy things that should be included in your service payment. Their packages are completely out of date, and way overpriced, play the same ** all the time, guess they know they have a monopoly, on service to rural customers that cannot get cable access!!!

Love DirecTV, BUT after going under AT&T the prices have skyrocketed and continue to climb. They do offer discounts up to a year depending on what package you get. However, you will get sticker shock after those promos end. I have two other alternatives but they are also expensive. Looks like I'll be cutting the cord soon and going to streaming services.

Major problems arose when AT&T merged with Direct TV. They did not make it easy to keep the 2 accounts separate. They just got too big too fast and the customer was who suffered and could never get adequate help with either.

I hate it. You have to buy each channel and if you want to add channel you have to go through song and dance to get it. Also you have to make sure dish is good, and if you have older tv it will turn on by itself.

All weather events interrupt the reception. Any rain, snow, wind messes with what you can watch. I really don’t like satellite tv at all. I would never tell anyone to get it. I was also lied to about what I was getting. I was told that I would have my movie channels for the price that they told me, then they charged me an extra $150 for the movie channels. Their rates are reasonable. Their service is good, whether on the phone or having a technician come to the house. I don't mind the dish on the roof. Now with the new box, I have better reception with HD & when there is a disruption in service, you can switch over to low definition.

DirecTV has you paying for packages they include and you do not want or watch which are $9.99 per month!! The signal is constantly lost! The prices are ridiculous and go higher all the time. Their deals are ok but once over you pay outrageous prices for poor service and unwanted packages to get the channels you watch. Like all other cable companies they are no more than a rip off!!

Have a lot of intermittent issues with two of my three tv's. Called customer service and they can't fix. More over multiple times they just hang up on me. Tried with loyalty department and the same luck. They hung up on me three times today. Technical support directs my calls to loyalty department and loyalty department directs my calls to technical support. In mean time my tv service is bad. Can't wait for contract to expire. AT&T which owe Direct Tv doesn't respect their customers. Only what is important is $$$$.

Very few channels that we like. Rest of channels not worth watching. If it wasn't for the DVR, there would be almost nothing to watch during our regular viewing hours. There are too many commercials, and they are just plain stupid. It's getting to be all commercials interrupted by a little programming. Even about a third of the channels are just infomercials. The cable companies get paid to run the commercials, so why should we have to pay to watch them? It would be good if they offered a package of maybe 15 channels of your choice at a reasonable price.

I was a satisfied DIRECTV customer for many years, then we decided to move to a new house. We called to move our service and scheduled a technician to come to our new home. They never arrived. After 2 hours on the phone with customer service, we discovered that instead of moving our service, they cancelled it altogether. After many hours on the phone (being placed on hold or told someone would call us back and never did), we were told that they have no records that we were ever customers of DIRECTV. Also, if we wanted new service then we'd have to pay $500 upfront. No thank you. We never went back. We stream now and pay way less.

Our satellite service went out on a Thursday, we called and made a service appointment for the following day, (Friday) I took the day off from work to be here for the tech to come fix our problem, our window for the tech to arrive was between 12-4, no one showed up or called, I called them back and they said they were running late and would be here by 6, no one showed, called back and they said their tech wasn't answering so there was nothing they could do, they said I would have to miss another day of work so they could send someone out to fix the problem! They think it's convenient to just miss work waiting for them to show up even though they never did! On top of being lied to they think it's OK for customers to miss work for their convenient!

I have been a customer of DIRECTV for several years and after the first year of service, I've had nothing but issues with them. I have been overcharged on several occasions and later having the bill credited after realizing their mistake. There is no upper management available when there is a problem and the representatives all give different information or solutions for the exact same problem.
At this very moment, I have been waiting 2 days for a tech to come to my home because my audio is not working. The tech lied and said he came to my home and the irony is that I was on the phone with Directv for 2 hours during the appointment time. They said they would contact the tech and have him come out and call me to verify, needless to say, I haven't received a call. The same day while waiting for the tech, an unknown man who misrepresented himself and had all my information came to my door. I assumed he was the tech and let him in my home.
Come to find out he was not the tech but had a business card and logo on his shirt. After feeling uncomfortable I threw him out and immediately called the company. After speaking to 3 people I was told he was a salesperson for AT&T. He could have been a serial killer, rapist, or anyone. And my question was how did he get ALL my information. NO response, nobody knew why. My wellbeing was jeopardized, my information was not protected and they still have not called me. There is so much more and I will be checking on what I can do legally. This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with other than UPS. Do Not use this company as your cable company. Horrible, unknowledgeable and very dishonest. RUN.

Abhorent customer service. I needed satellite to be redirected after a roof repair. Six phone calls, three of them over an hour. Each agent gave different information, some were hard to understand. Was without service for 2 weeks because they couldn't get a technician there. Two times tech didn't show-no regard for the time spent waiting, no advance notice for no-shows. AT&T called for me to rate technician and had no idea he never came. Consumer must connect with "Direct TV Loyalty" (vs AT&T agents), one hand does not know what the other is doing -- but no one will tell you that. Incredible amount of wasted time -- 16 hours! Do not choose them if you have another choice.

We canceled our DIRECTV service on 3/29/21. Directv told us we had to pay for our service and they would refund us because we canceled one day prior to the billing date and they could stop the billing. They now owe us $111.98 but stating they only owe us $77.02. They have sent us 3 statements stating they owe us $77.02. I have called upon receipt of each statement asking for the actual money to be sent to us and they keep saying they’re working on it. Now I’ve had to enlist our attorney to contact them. I can’t believe that today with all the free access to TV and movies that anyone would continue to subscribe and pay for TV.

Gave me a price of 78 dollars for cable tv. With taxes. I recorded the conversation. I confirmed with the sales girl and wrote her name and date and time and amount down. Got bill. First bill was 4 dollars over price. Now into DTV for 3 months, bill is 98 dollars. I have 1 TV. That's it. I called and sat on hold for 3 hours. Finally disconnected. Then called again. Spoke with 4 different people. All said the price was 98 dollars. I asked to speak with supervisor. Told I have to wait. They hung up on me. I called again. Asked for supervisor. Told I have to get call back from supervisor. No one called me back. Now stuck in contract for 20 dollars more a month than what was quoted. DO NOT GET THIS PROVIDER. THEY BAIT AND SWITCH!!! We've had DirecTV for I'm guessing 7 or 8 yrs. The service has been satisfactory but I have 2 major complaints. The price. It has gone up a ridiculous amount over the past few years. We are paying almost $250 now a month. It does include basic land line service too but no internet. Just TV and phone service. And it's a phone that seems to receive every spam scam call on earth. The phone doesn't stop ringing all day. Only 2 people call us on that number. Prob 50 scam calls a day. Somebody is selling our number. Complaint number 2 is reception. About 6 months ago DirecTV updated our equipment, at no cost, to HD equipment. Ever since doing that, the receiver locks up for 15 to 20 seconds about every hour or so. Or it will say installing updates for 5mins to 20mins every other day. Then there's the rain thing. If it gets cloudy out and looks like rain it will lose signal. **??
Before they updated the system, everything worked well. They definitely don't have their bugs worked out and must have some financial problems to be charging so much. I changed over to cable today. It wasn't a hard decision. I'm getting the same channels, a land line, and on top of that I'm getting internet with wifi and paying almost half the price. It's a no brainer. I'm only mad at myself for not changing sooner. 3 stars is really pushing it. I hope this at least helps someone else who is deciding what TV service to get.

I was told when I signed up to get service I had to put up a deposit cuz I did not have any credit. $299 which I was told I would get back after a 2 yrs contract. They lied. They are keeping my $299. They have no record of me giving them a $299 deposit. I have proof I did. But they still will not give it back. Rip me off straight up. That's a lot of money to me. Third time in 4 months that I'm told service appointment done and time/day given. I wait the 12 to 4 window and again no one shows. I spend 30min just to see if technician is coming then told there was no service appointment. So given again for another day thus no service and now lost time waiting for service that never came. Tried to connect to a manager in support but not possible so that was another waste of 15min. I switched from Dish for support reasons and now come to find out Direct is no better. When you sign up, the promotional prices expire quickly and the channels you get are low quality programming, unless you pay top of the line pricing, which is still limited. Customer service seems outsourced from the other side of the world with people who are not native English speaking people reading script, hard to understand and so frustrating, making you wish you could just throw the tv at them. If you have another option for tv service other than DirecTV, I’d suggest going with it....

I’ve been trying to get an actual copy of my contract for a long time. They won’t provide one. They’ll only tell you verbally what the contract contains (plan, termination date, etc.), which is #1 contrary to law (any party to a contract is entitled to a record of what they agreed to), and #2 is a deceptive business practice. By not having a “hard copy” of what you agreed to, you’d never know when you could cancel the service. Depending upon who you speak with at customer service, the date won’t be the same. So, if you terminate your service, they can access any number of early termination fees and you’ll have no recourse. How many people nationwide have been a victim of this? I’ve filed formal complaints with my state AG and the FCC.

I have had DirecTv for years and if I had an alternative company that provided NFL Sunday ticket, I would have switched years ago. There are frequent technical problems, and their support staff is not very knowledgeable. If they have to send someone out to do service they charge you, unless you pay them extra. It’s a joke and it seems that every year it’s worse.

I got DirecTV several years ago. I never really had a problem. Until I had to cancel it. I was moving to an apartment complex that didn't allow it. Called them. Turn in the box and then pay the final payment. I did this. The box arrived back there the next day. WOW. The final bill was paid. Until I got a new final bill. For time I wasn't actually using the service. Called Customer Service. Was told I had to pay, for Dec to Jan. I had cancelled at the end of the billing cycle for Dec, which was 22 Dec. I had made a payment in Dec. Next thing I know, it's for Nov to Dec. I am quite furious. After three months of back and forth, I went to pay the bill, after receiving another email. Only, I can't pay because my account is no longer linked to the AT&T site. I will have to call them tomorrow. They generally hit you with a "customer service fee" for NOT using the website (even when the website was glitched for a few months), and if they try to do that, I will be one upset former customer.

I do not believe that I have EVER experienced worse customer service. I sold my home where we had AT&T paired with Directv and was moving temporarily to an apartment while our new home was built. Wanted to move our service but could not have dish in our complex. Decided to move just our ATT service for the 6 months we would be in our apartment and confirmed we could do so. Email confirmation came and stated another 2 year contract would start effective our move date. Called several times and was told they do not offer month to month so I Called to cancel the install before the start up date and returned equipment.
Was told on that phone call that they do offer month to month but was fed up with the disinformation so went with another provider. Then the fun began... Regarding my prior service - originally signed up on a 2 year contract. After 1 year, my bill went from $130 to $203 in the 13th month. Called to disconnect service and was told Directv would charge $20 for every month left on the contract. No problem!
Was told to not pay the current bill because they would credit the difference in price ($70) for the unexpected increase after the year and send a Final bill in a couple of weeks including the $220 early termination fee. Received the bill, paid it in full and then received another bill including a late charge - no credit of the price difference and no help from Coreen (the supervisor that was put on the phone after 2 hours of trying to resolve this issue). Horrible companies, horrible training and disgusting "customer service". I will NEVER, EVER have ANY service connected with ATT/Directv and will spread the word to all who will listen!

I am not new to Directv. I think the most aggravating thing is they make us pay for them to have advertisers try to sell their products, while, most likely making money from each of them. We want to be entertained, not be deluged with advertising channels. They pull people in by telling them there are hundreds of channels. Then you see what channels they really have. On top of that, they are so cheap, they continuously show the same old movies. Believe me, I see the same ones over and over again. I believe they also pull that off to make you so fed up, you would go to pay per view or movie packages. Give them more money?? I decided I would not give them any more money for junk. You can get more for your buck if you add in Hulu and Netflix.

I will NEVER have any service via DirecTV or AT&T ever again. If I could give 0 stars I would, they have earned it. I closed an account 2 years ago and wasn't able to pay immediately upon closing. Due to this, the amount was eventually sent to collections, which I completely understand. But what doesn't make sense is that several months later I paid the balance in full at an AT&T location near me with cash. It is now 2 years later and I have had a new collections account that was opened 3 months ago for the balance that was PAID IN FULL in 2019. Because I have no further records, as this was completed 2 years ago, I have to pay this balance YET AGAIN to remove it from my credit report. I am beyond furious with this company for doing this and I would not recommend anyone to use this service or be prepared for them to continue to take your money even after closing an account.

DirecTV satellite dish service call scheduled to re-install dish after roofing repair. Window given was 8am-5pm. No one showed up. Called tech support twice. Told ticket was still open at 1 pm and not to worry, someone would be here by 5pm. At 5pm when no one had showed up, was told ticket still open and dispatch then extended ticket to 9pm. No one ever showed up. Third call to tech support at 9pm and was told the ticket was cancelled due to some unknown error. Had to reschedule for another day, take another day off from work. Asked for the $49 service call fee to be waived and was told it had already been charged so there was nothing that could be done about it. $49 charged for a service call that DID NOT happen??? Shame on AT&T/DirecTV. Poorly done!

I tried to cancel my subscription last year, but they talked me into accepting a much cheaper package. I asked SPECIFICALLY if that meant I would have to start a new 2-year contract, or if my contract would expire on the original contract date. Keep in mind that ATT/Direct TV bills for already used viewing of 3 weeks. If you receive a billing on the 2nd of the month, due on the 19th of the month, your paid viewing is only paid through the 27th of the same month. It is not like your cell service that bills ahead 30 days. So if you cancel after the 27th of a month you still owe for a month's service. If you are canceling they will tell you that you are paid through the 27 of the following month. Not a smart way to do business.

Programming is terrible. There are too many infomercial channels. It is also too expensive. Also the NFL package got more expensive while the number of games was reduced because of more games being broadcast on regular television. The package is not worth the money for the number of games offered. Everything AT&T offers is terrible - internet, phone service and Direct TV.

I replaced my DTV equipment because the one I had wasn't working and they automatically renewed my contract for 2 years without telling me or having me sign a contract. When I called to cancel DirecTV just a few months later, they tell me I have to pay a cancellation fee of $300+.

Over billed with 2 accounts at one residence, Reps gave wrong info when transferring to my mother's home, would not correct and made me still pay out full 2 years more of service, Reps did research my mother's service before move and check her account but never took responsibility for their mistake, price was high too, don't want to ever hear from DirecTV again because I was ripped off 100% and there was not anything at all done to aid the mistakes. Direct TV is a streaming cable service that provided a large number of channels on their base package. The issue for us is that they continued to raise their prices. Each year, similar to internet service providers, they would increase our bill incrementally to return our service price to the standard retail price. They didn't offer us any additional channels, or any other perks, so cutting their service was not a hard decision. In two years, our price went from $49.99 to $69.99. When people are cutting their cable to go to streaming service and pay for what you get, it is difficult to continue that service if the price continues to rise.

We signed up for a combination program a year ago with Dish Network (for TV) and AT&T (for computers). From the installation to trying to get service it was a disaster. Neither service was unable to deliver what was contracted. We notified both that if they could not correct the problems per the contract they needed to remove their equipment. They instead had us ship the equipment back, which we did. They are still billing us for the equipment and the service.

Be careful when ordering DIRECTV. They give you cheap rates then increase the price x 3 and even when you attempt to renew at a less rate they will reduce the monthly by a few dollars and give you a service with less channels. Plus you are again signing for 2 years and then price takes that big jump. Plus they call continually trying to sell you special priced channels HBO ETC. THERE MUST BE 50 different phone numbers with different SPECIALS. Makes your head spin. Looking to just cut loose from them all.

DirecTV changed when they were bought out by AT&T. The customer service is not nearly as good as the old days when a long time customer was treated as special. I still stick with them even though there are cheaper alternatives nowadays, because they still do sports programming better than anything else I have been able to research. Also, the equipment that is provided is up to date and works well, and I am very familiar with it over many years.

Rain and or thunderstorms are a problem and you can lose reception. Price can be costly. Bills are paid 1 month in advance. When given free channels for a period of time you have to call and cancel otherwise it is put on your bill when free period is over.

When you get a discount it is never applied. You have to make 10 phone calls before you get it right. Some months there is a charge that has to be removed because of incorrect billing. You have to go over the bill every month or you may pay more than you were supposed to. It’s getting very expensive charge you for everything each box, sport fees, etc.

I have had DirecTV for years. I left them for about a month and went to AT&T Uverse, that was horrible! I came back to DirecTV. They have improved their satellite dish from past years, so it does not cut off like it use to when there is inclement weather. However, if it's pouring rain or heavy wet snow, it will still go out. Lately there has not been anything worth watching on the premium channels. I have had better luck on the basic channels or by using one of the streaming services. They really need to improve their channel lineup. Streaming companies like Netflix and Amazon Prime have more to choose from.

We tried Dish for less than 36 hours and came back to DIRETV. We tried Spectrum for a week and came back to DIRECTV. Compared to others available in the area best programming. Would like a company that didn't require a contract but that is not available with DIRECTV.

National network stations were dropped for a period of time which should be illegal.. Other stations were discontinued which should give me a reason to cancel the contract. The contract is written to take away your rights. Every time it rains, I lose signals. Sometimes I lose the signal for no obvious reason.

On site technicians are great. Channels missing common CW. No ability to schedule anything for tune to, just record. Remotes do not light up. No good 4K available, only HD. Good HD pictures and audio though.

Just cancelled our DirecTV after being a customer for years. First of all good luck talking to someone that can help. I was on hold for 50 minutes. I asked why when I chose "free movies on demand" there weren’t any. Agent didn’t know. Bottom line, agent told me that when ATT took over everything has gone downhill. You’re better off downloading any apps you want. You’ll have more options and it will be cheaper. DirecTV sucks!

You call about a problem you wait for long times on the phone then you get someone you can’t understand due to a language barrier. Or you tell them the problem and they go around how to solve it when you tell them you only need a new remote. With DirecTv when you called you got a service rep right away. I needed something they had a service tech there within days. Really not too pleased with the ATT aspect of merge. But I stick it out due to years of service.

I only keep this service for the NFL games. I find the service would better if there weren’t exorbitant box fees etc. They’ve continued to price themselves out of affordability, and unfortunately they haven’t changed with the times or technology.

Adequate but not the most user friendly. Had to figure out first, we have had it for a year and I am still finding out short cuts, etc. And absolutely horrible in a storm either snow or thunder. We lose connectivity to the satellite, the receivers in the house don't seem to talk to each other most days etc.

The majority of channels are shopping channels unless you pay more money for more channels. I had Xfinity once and loved their channels better but they changed my price almost every other month when it was supposed to be set for a year.

We've been customers of DirecTV for 5 years and finally decided to switch to Xfinity. The stations are fine as long as it doesn't rain, becomes windy or snowy. Then we lose connection. Recently they removed one of our local stations because of a dispute, a station I watch frequently. I don't like paying for a service that is interrupted frequently.

I have not had many issues, except during a storm or high winds then I will lose Internet and this affect the dish. Most of the channels I do not watch. There should be a package that I could pick the channels, and depending on how many I pick should be able to have a lower price. They could also have a senior discount. Also a children's selection, where the parents could select and put in an area so they could enter just the appropriate channels depending on the child's age. Example would be for age 2-6 then another one for 7-10 etc. With the parent able to use a password for each section. I know this sounds a little overwhelmed, but if you have children you would know the frustration of going through these channels. I hope this will let you know how frustrating it is for the person or persons going through all the channels.

I had Spectrum for many years. And I liked it. But the price was increasing almost every month! Unfortunately, customer loyalty means nothing to companies any more. I understand cost of living increases, and that to stay in business, companies have to make money. Price increases are happening all the time. Costs get passed on to the customer. But, when increases are happening regularly, and it seems that companies are just being greedy, you lose me and my money. I went with AT&T because I could get NFL Sunday Ticket and see every game of the season. I had to acquire DirecTV satellite for the NFL package. But, (there's always a but), the service rep promised a total of $300 in gift cards, which is great. Or WAS great. I had called just to see who I would switch to. When the call ended I was promised the deal would be available. After consideration and research, I called back and took their deal.
Months went by and no gift cards. I called the rep again to see what was holding up the cards. I was shocked to find out that the rep wasn't available any longer. And, that the deal was only offered by THAT rep! I was stuck with their service and contract! I wound up finally getting a credit, and a gift card totaling $150. That STUNK! I have enjoyed the NFL season, and have had no interruption in service at all. I had many interruptions and problems with Spectrum. The satellite interruptions never appeared. I am moving next year, and will see what options I have for cable or satellite at the new address. Other than the hocus-pocus with the gift cards, I have really enjoyed AT&T, DirecTV, their internet, and phone services. I would definitely recommend AT&T/DirecTV to anyone.

Customer service could be better when you have questions or problems. Costs could be lower. One example of bad service, I needed a receiver replaced. They never asked for the old one back. Later they tried to bill me for it. It took 3 calls to resolve it.

Generally speaking DirecTV provides adequate service. I'm pleased with the quality of the picture and the sound. I'm dissatisfied with the price that I pay for the amount of Television I watch. It seems inevitably you pay for more channels than you will ever watch and the ones you really want i.e. sports channels such as additional ESPN channels or other sports channels not including the NFL package are always really expensive.

Recently lost our Tegna channels because of carriage fee dispute. How unprofessional is that! Service is otherwise OK aside from occasional weather interruptions. One annoying feature: in case of momentary power glitch, receiver has to re-boot from zero which takes several minutes.

I don't know about the other providers, but DirecTV is VERY high priced. It seems they slip things in there (to your bill) that you never asked for, such as we have something called "Movies Extra Pack" or something like that, which is $4.99 a month. Nominal charge, right, but I don't recall ever asking for this. They keep increasing their prices each year by a good amount and the costs are astronomical. Unfortunately we are in a mobile home park that does not have access to cable or we would drop them like a hot potato.
There was also a bait-n-switch incident a few years back where I'd called to see if they had any promotions/discounts we qualified for, and the rep rambled on about how our old package had been replaced by a new one, slightly different, but that it had a few more channels. She said I could change to that for the same cost. I said OK. Once they'd made the change the bill reflected an increased amount so I called about it but they would not honor it. Even though the calls are recorded and they could have researched it. I was not happy about that at all and then it was too late to revert back to the old plan we had. Very bad!

The channel guide is awful and not user friendly. The ads for pay to view on the guide are irritating with way too many shopping channels and the cost for the service is more than I paid for cable - without the Internet service. Now they are in a fight with Tegna so we don’t have NBC network broadcasts. We live in a rural area so no cable service. At the end of my current contract I’m going to consider other providers.

We have had very few problems in the 7 years we have had it. Every now and then it goes out and has to be restarted - Maybe 2 times a year! It's easy to add services and other programming using the online guide. Unlike other services you can record 100's of episodes, and it's easy to schedule and delete. Accessing programming is easy with your remote! Good quality picture!

Directv just lost a loyal customers, it's crazy that since the pandemic my cable bill has increased slowly but surely it has increased. Since the pandemic it has increased almost $85 per month, each month for me to call and get switched from one rep to another, with no one assisting me, one rep even had the nerves to tell me that we have been a customer for so long getting promo offers that we exceeded our amount of promotions. I got online to chat about the bill for the last time and after 89 mins of being transferred from person to person I decided the best thing to do was terminate my service. Directv.... Been with DTV for 14 years. I guess complacency made me continue. What I like is the system it uses regard to guide DVR and recording shows. It's a simple system with a simple remote. However the pricing is somewhat nonsense because you don't get discounts automatically. You have to call in and ask if there is any. Now and again they give you some free weekends of Prime channels. About the weather, that's pot luck, you could lose programming from storms. Liked it better when DTV was its own company, taken over by AT&T.

DirecTV's equipment is more advanced than Dish Network. DirecTV's equipment works very well. Spectrum has upgraded its equipment but they have many technical, operating problems. They are all WAY too expensive. I have managed to keep my DirecTV bill down to where it is not an insane amount by constantly bugging them and asking for discounts.

I have been a long time customer of DirecTV even thru the merger/buyout by AT&T from Verizon, and they still answer the phone anytime I need to call them. I might pay a bit more now, but I don't have any issues. If I have any issues, I call right away to discuss what my problem is, and what they can do about it. So many extra fees. $10 for HD, then $10 for DVR. $7 for service in a second room plus $3. A $75 dollar a month plan will end up to be well over $100 before it is over. Heaven forbid you get a thick cloud or some rain, because you will lose your signal. You don't own the equipment, but if something happens to it and it needs replaced or repaired, you are expected to pay for it. I'm in a rural area so my only other option is Dish and they are always negotiating with one service or another so they black them out. Usually it is your local channels so I guess I am stuck with DirecTv.

Directv will never care about their existing customers, we had constant battles over bills being raised for no reasons, constantly shotty picture quality if there's a cloud in the sky, sometimes perfectly clear days, took them three times to put up the dish correctly. And now that they are trying to raise our bill again, we can't cancel because we had them replace our cable box last year because it was faulty and that put us into a new contract cycle which we were not aware of. Super expensive to cancel and they want us to do them favors like ship back their equipment, go get yourselves some digital service like I am.

Direct TV engages in fraud, and probably rakes in millions of fraudulent dollars each year. I used them for five years, with bills for AT&T bundled services always sent to me by postal mail and paid with bill-pay from my bank. They never had permission to use my credit card for anything, let alone what they call "autopay." They never charged my card (not having authorization, and I don't even know how they got the card number) for five years, until I cancelled and moved to another state. Then DirectTV began "auto-charging" $62.12 per month on my Visa card, without any authorization or even notice. After three months I caught the fraud, and Visa has blocked any further charges.
I have spent hours on phone calls and live chat with DirectTV agents with no result -- for example, yesterday first being referred to an agent, then a supervisor, and then a "floor manager," with long chats with each, until the floor manager finally suggested I call their "loyalty" department. One agent even refused repeatedly to tell me the service address the charges were for.
With this kind of fraud repeated thousands of times yearly, and DirectTV stonewalling any protest until the victim finally throws in the towel, you can see how DirectTV can rake in millions of dollars per year. As a former career prosecutor, I would urge a federal investigation and encourage class action lawsuits. DirectTV will no doubt get away with the fraud until it is stopped.

I switch my service from U-verse to DIRECTV and about a year and a half ago and to this day I cannot access my online account. I have called numerous times trying to get someone to help me and every time I have to give them the whole story over and over again. Why can't they look at the notes to see what has been happening. They keep me on the phone or chat for over 2 hours to tell me they can do anything about it and has to sent it to high up and they will contact you and then no call EVER. They can raise my monthly payment but cant fix my account. This is ridiculous.

Satellite connection error appeared 3 days ago at the apartment at my workplace commercial building. Our building is in Chelsea and they keep scheduling technicians to come and repair the service, but the technicians won't even come in and look at the equipment. They just assume they know it's a job for the Multi Dwelling Unit and so they cancel the appt on their end. No one tells us though. They just don't show up in the 4 hour window they allotted us, so we call and that's how we find out. After verifying our account and being put on hold and then auto-transferred to the 800 number, or worse given the wrong phone numbers. (One supervisor named Kat gave me a dispatch number for Best Buy in the Midwest!)
I am usually transferred to the main 1 800 number as soon as I'm put on hold after verifying the account so that I can be asked to do it again. I'm currently 3 days in and now on hold with Jay in a non-United States location that cannot be disclosed while he reschedules the appt for MONDAY (even though I'm calling trying to check on an appt that was supposed to be scheduled today by Kat who gave me the Best Buy number.) and he cannot "promise" the technician will come. I've called DirecTv 25 times today at least and gotten nowhere.
At the 718-785-5567 number where I spoke with Kat all of the reps just pick up and and as soon as I ask for her, transfer me to the 800 number so they don't have to deal with the call. I've never been so embarrassed for an entire organization as I am today. AT&T who have have been synonymous with horrific customer service for years, have finally been efficient at something! Integrating just that into their DirecTV divisions. I hope they all enjoy watching football this Sunday while we stare at our error message.

At the time of installation, the tech opted to place genie in the kitchen as easiest for him. Not that I wanted on my kitchen counter but tried to make easier for him. Now as having work done in kitchen I need to have genie 2 placed in living room where there already is existing outlet. As didn’t work I called AT&T. I also paid 8.99 a month for problems. DirecTV has pulled Ch8, NBC, because of a dispute they have with their vendor. I have many programs I watch and record on that channel. I pay for that channel. When I chatted with a customer support representative, he/she just kept apologizing and saying they would resolve the issue (no time frame given). I mentioned that when I was denied a recording me system said I could record it on Ch 390, but my package does not include 390. I suggested they give me Ch390, because of the problem (their problem) with Ch 8. All they did was repeat the statement above. We had DIRECTV for many years. They raise the cost once per year and this year ours was raised $45 per month. We decided not to continue with the service. We had a credit of $111 and after five weeks of waiting, I decided to call to ask for a refund. I was told refunds are not refunded back through a credit card, but are given in the form of a MasterCard gift card and it takes 30 to 45 days to process. Ridiculous!!

Their customer service via phone offers a service with a person with poor English and poor audio. In the lack of communication they sign you up for a service. I have been on the phone now for over two hours to connect to cancel the service. DirectTV has gone downhill since AT&T has been involved. I hope they go out of business.

Double charged our monthly service. When the slightest rain we would lose signal. Asked them to send a box on 3 occasions as to return their equipment. Boxes never arrived and continued to charge for monthly services when we were using a competitor's service. Then put a bill of 248.00 on my credit rating. Run from Deceptive DIRECTV.

I was a DIRECTV customer for OVER 20 years. I decided to cancel due to the frequent increases in my monthly bill. After 5 different phone calls, each of which was a minimum of 90 minutes, I was told that our account was being closed. I was to receive a box in which I was to return their equipment. I never received a box or any information regarding an address to which I was to return the equipment, even after an additional 3 phone calls, each again over 90 minutes. I gave up trying to get them to send me a box (seems like a pretty simple request). Now, 7 months later, I get a call from a collection agency informing me that I owe DIRECTV $40+ for "un-returned equipment".
The money is not the issue... It's $40. The issue is that I tried REPEATEDLY to reason with these people, and they refuse to listen or meet their obligations. This issue has gone on for months and I have wasted over 12 hours of my life just trying to cancel my subscription. I have done everything they have asked of me and as a result If you are considering doing business with DIRECTV, please reconsider. Their services are hugely over-priced and their customer service is grossly inept.

First early this fall DTV dropped the SEC network and DIY without telling us. And now they cannot agree with NBC and have put their customers in the middle of their disagreement. I am now looking for a new provider that cares and communicates better with its customers.

Every time I deal with a DIRECTV rep who wants to sign me up for service, they are at minimum misleading, but usually outright deceitful. They lie or bait and switch. Four years ago, they called and asked why I had cancelled my service. I explained the price had gone up too much and they were not willing to give me any loyalty promotions. She apologized and said they should have never lost my account. She offered me a good price and said that it would go up after one year, but it would never increase again. I confirmed that with the account manager at the end of the call. Well, guess what? The price kept increasing every year and I kept calling them to remind them of their promise. (I had recorded the call so they could not deny what had been promised.) Every year the price goes up.
It's a time-consuming pain to contact someone who cares. This year they had no promotions for loyal customers. I had finally had enough and cancelled my service. Sure enough, once I cancelled, they called and offered me a promotional discount. She said we would receive the same channels we had before at the discounted price. Today, channels were missing. When I finally got someone, they said I'd have to pay $24/month more to add those channels. It was a bait and switch. Just the usual dishonesty. They say anything to get you to sign up, then deny what they offered. They had the loyalty department call me and he was rude and unhelpful. I cancelled again. Two times in one week. Save your time and money. Do not order DIRECTV. They will con you!

DirecTV used to be good prior to AT&T taking over. They have been continuously billing me for packages I do not even have such as NFL Sunday Ticket. We had cancelled packages and have been billed for them for 6 months in succession with multiple chat conversations and phone calls in which they transfer you from person to supervisor to department with promise that the problem has been rectified until you get your next bill in which they enter you into a payment plan for the additional charges. A payment plan that you didn't agree to and nothing has been resolved as they continue to bill you and tell you to pay bill without additional cost and then, WHAM, they add the charges again showing up past due.
I have spent hours, days, weeks, and now months trying to resolve a simple issue of being billed for options I do not have and would think that this would constitute a crime. Like paying the price for all wheel drive on a vehicle that is front wheel drive. I think that they are doing this to a lot of people, especially ones who don't pay close attention to the charges they receive and wonder how they can continually get away with stealing and no consequences....

After having service for one week, a thunderstorm knocked it out. The earliest a technician could come out was 15 days. Now they want me to pay an early termination fee for them breaching the contract.

Updated on 11/17/2021: I previously posted about my cancellation experience. The company did an auto-pay as I was canceling. I received notices that I would receive credit back for the money they took out by accident, over $100. Then I got a bill that deducted all but about $18. I called and spoke to customer service several times and got nowhere, Spent HOURS, then I got a supervisor in the US. After over 2 hours with her, I was assured that what I saw, the deduction, was just a formality and I would be given a credit for the full amount due. (At first, she tried to say it was taken out for my outstanding internet bill, which couldn't be outstanding because I use autopay, there was no past due amount only the credit we went round and round on that false excuse.)
After being assured spending over 2 hours with the supervisor who researched and found I was due the full credit, that am entitled and would receive the full credit, however, the credit would not be returned to my bank account where they withdrew in error, but would be mailed to me via an AT&T gift card??!! When the credit came now months after I canceled my service, the card only had about $18 on it, and attached was a notation that the rest of my refund was deducted for "Money Order". Someone in accounting at AT&T stole my money. I never received a money order, only the gift card with $18.
After this was done, I could no longer reach anyone at AT&T, they blocked my account # and my phone # from being able to reach out to them in the states. I could only reach customer service overseas and there was nothing overseas customer service could do AND they could no longer forward my call to the US customer service like they had done prior, I tried several times to reach US customer service, always reach overseas people who could barely speak English and could only follow scripts. I will never ever use AT&T or DirecTV again. AT&T and its accounting staff are 100% criminals stealing money that they overbilled and does not belong to them.
Original Review: DirecTV used to be awesome until AT&T purchased. Upon AT&T purchase DirecTV went downhill drastically with service, when calling in with issues with billing, and technical assistance. Now I am moving and called to cancel service. I was told by the cancellation rep that even my billing cycle started yesterday, that although they can shut off both services on the date requested, AT&T's policy is that I will pay for the entire billing cycle, not prorate as DirecTV did in the past.
Upon getting upset hearing this, explaining my dissatisfaction with their "policy", and saying my move is Covid related, the person said, "Oh that's different, I can override the system to have billing stop on the disconnect date." I thanked him for doing this however I explained my frustration with AT&T's general "Policy" for non covid related cancellations. They can prorate service when you start, however they cannot prorate service for the day you shut off when you terminate for any other reasons than Covid.
I had to keep telling George, the rep that my frustration is not about him personally, he took this so personal, it's with AT&T, he just wasn't listening. I repeated this 3 times! As George was canceling my service, he began crying sniffling, voice cracking, so after 3 times trying to explain to him to not take it personal, he still did, he was crying! The place I am moving to has a service included with rent, not AT&T. If I ever move again, although I have loved and been a customer of DirecTV for YEARS, I will not go back not because of the service itself, but due to their horrible customer service and "Policies" that they say are "standard" in the industry.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The service is crap. Customers service is even worse. They lie and say and do whatever they can to get me off the phone. I was offered a 155.43 credit on my account which miraculously disappeared 2 days later with no record of said credit. Their solution was to offer me a $76 credit after 3 hours dealing with them on the phone, I canceled. Especially since it was their equipment that was crapping out for the month. If you are looking for service... run as far and as fast as you can from this shady company!

They put a pending charge on my credit card for 3 weeks now and counting. As I never received the product they won’t take any action to revert the charge. This is a Horrible company to deal with especially for after sales service.

First, call made on 3/31/20 to notify DIRECTV I needed to cancel their service early due to COVID19 hardships. I accepted a 3-month promotion to continue service. Before the promotion was over the 2nd call was made in early July 2020 to see if another promotion was available. I was told I did not qualify for any more promotions. I then requested services be canceled. Hospitalized for 4 months, came home to a $500.00 with a service date of Oct. 2020. I asked the rep to review the audio recording & was told they are only kept for 1 month.
DIRECTV stance is my service was never canceled as I requested. The recording that can prove this is no longer exist and the bill stands. Although every piece of DIRECTV equipment was disconnected in July after the 2nd call and their service has not been used since. I don't know what kind of COVID SCAM they've come up with. BE AWARE!!! I'm not sure what to ask for in order to ensure they actually cancel but someone should look into this.

I have had such a horrible experience with this TV service. I would not recommend them to anyone. Their customer service is poor, and do not help. They get upset with you and argue with you. I had an account with them about two years ago. I canceled it due to not watching TV and not using their services. I was never informed that I would receive a bill in the mail, nor did I. Since then, they have made hard inquiries into my credit without my knowledge or permission. As of today, I found out that I had a bill with them that was outstanding.
I have always been on time with paying my bills and have always paid them in full. I have never received a bill in the mail from them stating I owed them anything and the only reason why I found out was because my credit score dropped very low. I then went online and obtained a credit report that showed they have a collection against me. I contacted them and ask them about this collection and they would not speak to me about it and told me to call a collection agency, which they gave me the number to. I attempted to explain to them the circumstances and they would not listen. I then contacted the said collection agency and paid the amount owed in full. I am extremely upset with how unprofessional and sneaky they have been in my regards.

I've always prided myself on my ability to be reasonable while explaining errors that needed to be corrected, but I guess that DirecTV doesn't think so. I had a billing overcharge that was committed in August and they assured me that the error would be corrected. In September, the error was doubled. After initiating a new chat today and spending an hour trying to get the Agent to understand when and how the error will be fixed, he hung up on me and blocked my ability to print the chat.

Channels are mostly infomercials. The cost for premium channel packages is outrageous - it is crazy to spend up to $300/month to get the entire package of channels available. It takes a minimum of an hour to get through ANY request with customer service (bill inquiry, service request from lightning or box defect, etc.). The stress associated with a service request to get a visit to your home is a family event everyone dreads. If you get a new dish, you have to force the service person to take the old one off your house, or you'll have multiple old dishes all over your roof because they don't do anything unless you are paying attention.
The fees tacked on to your bill for regional sports fees and other charges arbitrarily increases every 6 to 12 months for no reason. And now their website says they have daily hours from 8am to 12am, but when you call, they are saying their office is closed, so you cannot get anyone on the phone. Why we still have this service is unknown, except we are in a rural area and want the local news and this is best option. There must be a better company to take over and give people what they want for a better price - this is such a shame and a waste of money and ruining what was a good company name for AT&T at one time. We have nothing good to say about this company or their service. Not worth the money.

DirecTV/AT&T unethically reported me to a collection agency for a debt that is verifiably false. After paying my closing bill (in full) 3 months ago, they reported me to a collection agency for an alleged, "Past Due" account for $327.00. I have documents demonstrating I paid this (in full-3 months ago). I never once received any bills or notifications that anything was amiss (or "past due" as they claim). I am therefore suing this giant company for fraud and unethical business practices. Just wanted everyone to know-you have rights-exercise them!! Don't let these greedy corporations take advantage of you. Keep all bills (of course, that's assuming the greed of corporations like AT&T) will mail you any-even if you demand them. Upon reading the substantial negative reviews-I couldn't agree more. Their greed and corruption knows no bounds. Pathetic!!
