How does Old Republic Insured Automotive Services work?
You sign up for an Old Republic Insured Automotive Services plan through your car dealer. Once you have it, using the plan is relatively simple — you take your vehicle to your choice of repair shop and ask them to contact a claims adjuster. If the claim is approved, the shop can then repair your vehicle. If your plan covers towing or a rental car, you can submit your receipts for reimbursement.
You can also approve an emergency repair of less than $500 yourself if it’s outside the repair shop’s regular business hours, though you’ll have to submit the claim to an adjuster within five days to be reimbursed.
You can use whatever repair shop you like, provided it’s licensed to operate in your state. The company doesn’t limit the number of claims you can submit.

Old Republic Insured Automotive Services cost
Since Old Republic Insured Automotive Services only sells its policies through dealerships, you’ll need to get a quote directly from your local dealer. The company doesn’t provide any pricing information on its website.
That said, we can provide a general ballpark for extended auto warranty costs so you can judge whether you’re getting a good deal or not:
- In our research, we’ve found that the average extended auto warranty costs about $1,000 per year.
- Extended auto warranty costs range from as little as $280 per year to as much as $2,800 per year, depending on the vehicle and provider.
- There is a ton of variability — in our experience, no two warranty providers are likely to give the same quote for the same car.
