Brake job performed and was approved by wife. After she told me how much was billed, I said wow let's see the invoice. All costs were within reason with the discounts provided, however the rotors that were replace had no discount an was billed at a rate of "estimate" 329% markup of my cost from and local supply house and 184% over competitors shop rate. Jimmy was contacted and his response was "sorry, price was discussed prior to repair and my mechanics have to pay for their tools from the Snap-on truck!". Midas International was informed and says nothing can be done and should price compare next time. Midas noted they contacted Jimmy and his reply to them was he is competitive for the area.

The only explanation for these stripped bolts was that the Midas 'mechanic' doesn't know how to take a tire off and stripped them himself. Because the bolt was already broken, I had no choice but to wait for them to fix it.

Requested a brake job for an Audi TT using OEM parts. Upon completion, brakes squeaked. Returned to the shop and was advised the brakes 'glazed' and it would wear off and squeaking would stop. Didn't stop. Returned to the shop and they 'sanded' the brakes and said the squeaking would stop. Didn't stop. In fact, the squeaking was louder, longer and more frequent. On both occasions, I inquired if OEM brakes had been installed on the car since the bill that was provided to me did not indicate any part numbers for the brakes.
Both times I was told that the brakes were OEM parts. Since it was obvious that this shop was not going to correct the problem, I had the brakes replaced with true OEM parts (purchased by me from the dealer). Upon removal of the brakes installed by Midas, there was no indication that the brakes were OEM. I still have the brakes, in case there is resolution that can be obtained from Midas for the purchase of the new brakes that I had installed. Thank you for your time.

I bought 4 tires from Midas on Rodney Parham. All my tires have had to be replaced with new ones except 1 and that 1 I have to put air in it. The people at Midas told me the guy who sold me the tires no longer works there and I should've brought the tires back. How in the world can I bring them back all over the road? They tried to tell me it was my alinement, but they are the ones who did the alinement. So what do I do? I have no tires and it hasn't been that long since I bought these tires. I'm a single mom with 2 teenage boys and I need to get around and also work.
This isn't good business at all. My car is a 2000 4dr ford explorer. I would really be thankful if someone could help and stop sending me on a run around. Because the tires I purchased could've been bought back unless I were to run across the freeway or play d ball with traffic. I was already shaking up that the tires went out. I only have 1 tire left and it has to be aired up from time to time. They keep saying sorry about that. What good is that when I have no tires but I just bought some.

They charged me $1,700 for struts, shocks and mounts on my 2001 Nissan Sentra. Being suspicious, I checked with a few other Midas stores and they quoted me $1,100 for the same work/parts. I have been trying for five days to get a hold of the owner, but he will not call me back.
I have a previous debt that I have desperately been trying pay off, so this is a major setback. I also have no savings, and there is a threat of layoffs in my department at work in the next six months. I explained my financial situation to Eddie, and I did not feel one bit of compassion from the man. He proceeded to charge me an obscene amount of money.

I purchased brakes and warranty came to have work done, was given huge service bill, then offered to repair for more reasonable cost, not informing me that I would still hear the noise I originally came in to repair. I came back weeks later reported noise and manager told me I elected to only have brakes done and needed to get rotors as well. Well, I am not a mechanic so I thought the original work would take care of my problem. I felt like I was deceived about this new information and taken advantage of. Brakes still making noise until next repair. Not by Midas! When will companies realize that customer satisfaction is key to a successful business. Not overcharging and deceiving clients.

Monday came and about 4:00, we hadn't heard anything so I called to see if the car was done. Troy said it was not. The technician that worked on her car wasn't in that day and he would be in tomorrow which was Tuesday. I told him that she had to have her car by Tuesday afternoon. He assured me that it would be done.
So on Tuesday, I called at 12:00 and again, Troy said that the car wasn't done. He had to order the coils and they weren't in stock and someone had to go to the warehouse and get the part. Then a few minutes later, Troy called and said that he couldn't get the key to work and I asked what he meant. He said that the key we left wasn't working. So I had to go to Midas and bring another key with me to see what was going on. It turns out they either lost or gave my daughter’s car key to someone else.
I asked them how this could have happened. They accused me of not giving them the right key. I told them to watch the surveillance video and see what key I gave them. They said that would be a problem, I'm sure it’s a problem because they know what they did with the keys or the video camera doesn't work. They told me they where not going to do anything about her missing keys. Troy told me that was the key that I gave them and it was my problem.
On July 2, I called the **** number to complain and find out what they were going to do. They gave me a claim number and said with the holiday coming up, it would take a couple of extra days for someone to call me. Three weeks later, and very many phone calls to 1866 number, David **** called me back. He said that he was there the day my daughter dropped off her car and he had seen the keys she dropped off. It was the one that they where trying to use. I explained to him that her dad and I were both there and that was not the key that she gave them.
Then he tried to tell me that we weren't there and I said look at the video because we were there and he wasn't because the only person behind the counter that day was Troy. Needless to say, they are refusing to do anything about her lost key. I have been going to repair shops for over 30 years and no one has ever lost car keys before.

My AC was not working and Rick was going to charge me $400 to fix. I went somewhere else and what Rick had told me with my car was wrong. He charged me $39.99 to check it out. The other place fixed it for $115.00 and nothing that Rick said was wrong with the car was right. I want my money back. He said my car was smoking and was overfilled with Freon and excessive oil dye. I have the papers to show you. I save $250.00 by not letting him do it. Cars can not have excess Freon because they have regulators. My car has never smoked.

I have a Midas Muffler lifetime warranty. My muffler needed replacing so on 11 June 10, I visited the store above. They removed my old muffler and installed a muffler less than half the size of the original. I drove the car for a day but the noise was so loud we could not hear ourselves talking. I returned to the store and told them the problem. They said they would put the correct muffler on the car to solve the problem. Apparently, they then changed their mind and told me they would add something called a "resignator" (probably spelled wrong) and that would stop the noise.
It did stop some of the noise but is still louder in the car compared to my original muffler. A new problem that this has caused is a lot of vibration which is also very loud. Why couldn't the correct muffler be installed in the first place? No physical damage that I am aware of at this time unless the vibration causes some thing. I am not a happy camper and I want the correct muffler installed. I would prefer to go to Reno store to get this done assuming [they] approve. Carson City store has already tried twice.

On 07/03/2010, I decided to get an oil change as I was going out of town for the 4th of July weekend. I took my vehicle to Midas as I had a coupon. They performed the work and told me I needed an air filter which they didn't have in stock. So I contacted Schucks and they asked me if it were a round or square filter. I went outside and opened the hood. Immediately, I noticed there was a rather large part missing but I have no idea what to call it.
They were closed. the kind man at Schucks looked at it and told me it was probably a cover of some sort and that it would be okay to drive. So I went to the shop on Tuesday and they told me there is no missing part. Everything is there. The man who worked on my truck was on vacation. So I stopped there today (Tuesday the 13th) and asked if she found my part. "There is no missing part" she says. "So basically you're saying I'm hallucinating," I said. Listen to this, "I think you are confused" is her reply (completely condescending).
I asked, "Did you speak to the man who worked on my vehicle?" "No, because he is not in until tomorrow. blah blah blah." She is treating me like this without even asking the mechanic. Not only do I have the stress of wondering what driving without that part might do to my engine but dealing with a person who is treating me like I am crazy and she doesn't know if that part was there. She doesn't have all the facts until she speaks to that mechanic. Her customer service skills are horrible. I will never go there again.

I am writing to complain about the Midas Muffler shop at Littleton, CO. My wife and I have spent thousands of dollars in repairs at this shop over the past two years. Most recently, I had this Midas shop replace the L and R lower control arms on our 1999 Chrysler 300M on May 28, 2010. On July 2, 2010, I noticed an increasingly louder rubbing/grinding sound through the day coming from the front wheels (I travel out of the country/town a lot and consequently do not drive this car very much).
It sounded like the wheel bearings were going out to me, but I brought the car into this Midas shop for them to diagnose the problem. They replied that the bearings on both front wheels were solid. Although they acknowledged that the bearings could be the problem, they thought the sound was coming from the transmission, which they couldn't repair. Since it was a Saturday and the nearest transmission replace wasn't open, I decided to take the car to a second repair shop for another opinion.
After looking at the car, the second repair shop called me back with a question "Have you had any work done on this car lately?". I said yes, that the lower control arms had been replaced in addition to having the same repair shop (Midas) check out the current problem just the day before. This second repair shop then stated that the reason they were asking is that the lug nuts on the L front wheel were so loose that they could tighten them with their fingers! They said that I was very lucky that the wheel didn't fall off! I obviously was very upset with this life-threatening situation that the Midas shop put me into, both for creating the problem in the first place as well as misdiagnosing the loose lug nut problem (that they apparently caused).
Therefore, I immediately went over to the Midas shop to get the manager Tim's point of view. Although Tim apologized, he also accused the other repair shop of lying to us about the loose lug nuts by asking if we actually saw that the lug nuts were loose. Tim vouched for the work of his mechanic 100% and said that he himself checked that both front wheels were tight. Although this is admirable that Tim is supporting his employees, in this case, it only made me less confident in the work of this Midas shop and, more importantly, reflects a lack of integrity of the manager.
In conclusion, the grinding sound from the front end of the Chrysler 300M completely went away after the second repair shop diagnosed and corrected the loose lug nut problem (free of charge). Since the car had not been worked on by myself or any other repair shop since May 28th, it is clear that the Midas Muffler shop Littleton, CO caused the problem. The manager Tim accused the other repair shop of lying and also accused us of lack of due diligence (by not checking to make sure that the lug nuts were actually loose when the car was in the second repair shop).
This was a very lame accusation on Tim's part since it was very obvious to me, the driver, that the car was problem-free following the second repair shop's tightening of the lug nuts. The bottom line? We will never patronize this Midas repair shop again. Furthermore, my wife and I will be sure not to recommend this shop to any friends or acquaintances. It certainly has soured our interest in patronizing any other Midas shops as well.

On 10-12-2009, I spent $441.72 having Midas re-do the brakes on my '03 Explorer. It was winter here in Kansas so I did not realize my brakes were making an awful squealing noise, like it is metal rubbing on metal. Then on March 3, 2010, I made an app. and took it back. They worked on it for several hours and told me it was fixed. Again, I don't have my windows down, then I realize it is still making this noise. I took it back on June 27, 2010, they worked on it for an hour. They told me again it was the best it could be. I explained to a different man who was working, not D.Nixon. He said since these were not factory brakes, they will make a noise. I told him I didn't expect to have a $400.00 brake job and they squeal like this. He said they put the best brakes on they had, and they couldn't do anymore than they have done.
To my knowledge all they did was sand down a little rust and spray something on the pads. Then the next day, as I was driving through McDonald's, it was making this horrible noise again. I know my warranty was over but I still think back in March, they should of replaced the pads then. I just don't think I should of spent $440.00 for something that is worse now than it was, and I shouldn't have to listen to this awful noise when pulling up to a stoplight or anytime I come to a stop.

I have a Toyota Sienna XLE 2000 van. It has about 95000 miles on it and I never had any complaint. I went to Midas for brakes check. I was advised replacement of front rotors and calipers and did not find any problem with rear brakes. I asked for a recheck on one of the rear cylinders and was informed that one has a minor leak. I asked them for new front rotors and calipers and replace rear cylinders. The work was completed and I took delivery of the van on 28 June 2010 at about 6 pm.
Next morning (29 June 2010), I was driving to Chicago at about 65 MPH (cruise control). The tire light on the dash lit up and a strange sound and strong vibration was felt on the steering wheel after driving for about 30-40 minutes. My adult children were passengers and they said that the whole car was vibrating for quite some time (we thought that the road was bad). I slowed down the car to about 55 MPH. The vibration was less but continued for some more time. After that, the travel was slow due to traffic and we had to park the car. The caution tire light was on until we stopped the car.
During our return, we must have driven at 65 MPH for about 30-40 minutes smoothly then again the tire light on the dashboard lit and the strong vibration started again. We slowed the car and the vibration continued slowly until we reached home. I dropped off my kids and went straight to Midas to report the problem. The mechanic test drove that car for about 45 minutes but could not keep car speed constantly at 65 MPH for more than five minutes and no vibration was felt. We returned to Midas shop where the mechanic tested the tire pressure and nothing was noticed abnormal.
I asked the manager to write in the bill I had received the day earlier, where he noted my observation. I asked him that I need someone from Midas to drive the van at 65 MPH for more than 30-40 minutes. He said that he does not have anyone to do that for that length of time. However, he asked me to leave the van at shop during the week to see if someone could test drive to meet my expectation. Let us see what happens. FYI, I had paid about $800 for the brake work to Midas and got this problem.

I bring my van to oil change in June 17. I was recommended to change cabin filter. I said OK. Either the last time someone did not change it or this time, I was cheated.

I took my car to Midas for an oil change. When the technician got in my car, he came back in to ask me if my car was stopping and starting. I said no. He wanted to show me what it was doing so I got in the passenger side. The car was stopping and starting like it was not getting gas. I told him the car was not doing that on the way to Midas. He told me it would be $100 to check this out. I told him to forget that and the oil change. When I got in my car it was absolutely fine, no stopping and starting. I have filed a complaint directly with Midas.

I took my 2001 Dodge Ram Pick up on Saturday, May 22nd. I thought I needed just pads and rotors. My quote was $817. I received a phone call saying the problem was much worse. I needed rotors, pads, calipers. Steve told me the total price was going to to be $1479.35, I said go ahead. I picked my truck up later that day. 2 days later, leaving my place of work I depressed the brake pedal and it went to the floor. I called Steve and said, "I am on the way in, I have a problem." I dropped my truck off and Steve took a look at it.
I have no money after the 1500 to pay for this, which should have been caught before.

On 4/10/10, I took my 95 Chevy Lumina into the closest auto shop to my home because my brakes weren't stopping. I spoke with a rep. named Keith. He drove the car inside & put it in the air. 5 minutes later, Keith came out and told me the situation, that both of my wheel cylinders on the rear were deteriorating and my brake line on the driver side was broken. Keith also stated that because of all the brake fluid that came out, it ruined my brake shoes. When all was said and done, I declined the brake service because of price and the total amount for everything! A week later, all of the brake fluid came out of the same wheel again that made me cause a 3-car accident.
I almost lost my life. I got the car inspected by another expert and they tell me that the wheel cylinders were put on wrong. Midas did not want to look at their work when I confronted them with the situation. I haven't even been contacted back by any associate. Now, I'm out of $650 to repair my own car. I feel as though Midas should pay for the damages done to my car from the accident and the lack of labor that was done. This is for the half-done wheel cylinder work, broken tire rod, anti-lock brake line that was broken in the accident!

I took my car, a 2008 Mitsubishi Gallant, into Midas, Michigan Road Indianapolis, IN 46268 on a Saturday, April 17, 2010 because I noticed a slight shaking when I pressed my brakes. When I arrived to Midas, I was told that it would be an hour and a half to two hour wait. After about three hours, nothing had been done to my vehicle. The manager finally came out and called me into the shop and advised that I needed brake pads, rotors, a right tie rode, and tires. I told the manager I would have the tie rod fixed and have the other work completed later. The manager then advised, "If you get the tie rod fixed, it would have to be aligned." I agreed. I was then told it would be about an hour.
I waited and then I was advised that they ordered the wrong part and the new one has to come from Brownsburg and it won't be here until three. I finally got a ride and left the shop. Around 4:15 pm, I received a call that my car was fixed and that I could pick the vehicle up. After picking up the vehicle and paying $330.00, my steering wheel was crooked and the car was not driving straight.
I called the shop and they stated because of my tires, the alignment could not be properly done but would redo it. After putting my car back up on the rack, the manager then mentioned, "You have a bad left tie rod now." I stated, "The car was just here a week ago and you fixed the right one. Why was this not found before?" The manager stated, "My techs are human and so am I, and we make mistakes." I also questioned why the alignment was not mentioned to me when I picked the car up.
I then took my car to Discount Tire and purchased new tires. After purchasing the new tires, the steering wheel was still off centered and the car was driving crooked. I then took my car to Indy Tire to have it checked out. Indy tire inspected my vehicle and advised me that no alignment had been done to my vehicle and they gave me the printouts of the before and after shots and numbers that they had taken with the camera for the alignment. Indy tire fixed my left tie rod and my alignment for $100 less than Midas.
I contacted the district manager for Midas about the alignment and how the problems on my vehicle were not all addressed to me after sitting there for eight hours. The district manager was very rude and stated, "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" ,Finally they stated that they would refund me for the alignment; however, I am still waiting on that refund.
I am very displeased with the service and the job that was done at Midas and I will not ever go back to Midas for any work or recommend them to anyone. This was one of the worst experiences that I have ever had. I had to have another shop do the work that I had already paid hundreds of dollars to Midas to complete within a week's time.

That was the reason I went to Midas but now realize they are crooks too. And I will relate the message to all my friends to beware of Midas.

Midas Service,(in Highland Park, IL. 60035, our home town Midas) changed the oil in my daughter's Nissan Altima on 03-19-10. My daughter brought her car home, and parked it after the change. The entire family left the very next day, and was gone for eight days, as we were in California. The car was untouched at home, for eight days. The day after we returned, Carly drove over to a friend's house, also in Highland Park, perhaps a ten minute drive.
She and my wife noticed a large puddle of fresh oil on our parking pad, as she left for her friends. Late that evening, my daughter called, telling me her car would not start. I drove over, and found that the oil had drained from the engine, and the oil-pan, and the bolt that sits in the oil pan, were absent. I believe 100% the screw was seated improperly by the Midas employee. This allowed a heavy leakage. When the car was driven again (after our vacation), the nut must have worked itself out, and there is evidence of oil leakage on the road from my home, to Carly's friends.
I'd like to point out here, that the assistant manager at the guilty Midas shop, shared with me, "I'm actually ashamed to work here. If I were the manager, I'd have handled this completely differently". This man clearly has an excellent sense of customer service, and honest business character. Not so for Frank (manager), and James (owner). James, the owner, refused to speak with me.
The store manager (Frank) told me Midas would look into the matter. After a week (the car having been towed to a local service station), I received a call from a Midas agent, Trinity, claiming Midas can see no responsibility for the oil drainage. That is virtually impossible! I'm 100% righteously indignant that Midas is not only responsible for negligence, but there is no question about their failure to seal the oil pan, after the oil change. A hometown service dealer that ruins a teen's car (and obviously so), makes the very poor choice of refusing to accept obvious responsibility, and throwing their reputation in the gutter.
I strongly encourage anyone who might be in this area, to take the smarmy situation into consideration, before doing business with this greedy and unsafe organization. If this has happened to you, and I know this does happen now and then, call the manager, Frank, and tell him (or the owner, James), how unsettling it is to hear of such sloppy work, and lack of responsibility! It could have been your daughter or son, who lost a car to their negligence. My apologies to the reader for redundancies, however I asked my daughter to explain the situation in her own words.
Because the oil pan was never "plugged", the car was drained of oil, and the engine seized. A new engine will cost approximately $3,000, that, or buy a "new" used car for my daughter. My web site is: **.

First of all, I am customer with stick to one place. I started Midas three years ago and the only one time I visited a different place since getting oil changed was less important to Midas even you're a regular customer. Last year, before the winter, when I visited to get oil changed, they have informed me that I better get my tires changed since it is not winter ready.
The cost was close to $700 that they estimated. So I went to Goodyear to have my vehicle checked. I asked them to check my tires if I need to change this year. In addition to run road test and thread check, they informed me that I don't need to worry until this year but I need to have it checked again in November. I noticed that when people come to Midas to get oil changed, they always have additional work recommended. I was happy since I thought Midas cares about the cars and its owners, but that does not seem to be the issue
During my last visit to Midas, I almost thought about buying a new car since their diagnosis. I get my oil changed on a Saturday, then, on Monday, my neighbor told me that a noise was coming from the rear end of the car, so I thought to take the car to Midas. I visited Midas and told them that there was a noise coming from my car and I want them to check what it is. They explained that the muffler needs to be replaced. I told them that I got another expert advise and they informed me that my tires are in good condition that's why I declined.
Anyway, when I came to the counter, I asked for them to print an estimate but he implied me that he will give me a better deal and price when I am ready to do it. These two jobs (struts and muffler) cost me almost $3,000.00. I was so sick to myself until I got couple of auto shops to take a look at the situation. They all said that I don't need to change the struts and a muffler job will cost less than $100 if I take it to a muffler shop.
What do you know? There are auto shops who give advise like that. I went to auto muffler shop and it cost me $55 to get it fixed. I remembered another isolated incident last November regarding my car battery. It was a little cranking when I tried to start the car, but it started anyway. Midas informed me that the battery was no good; I have to install a new battery right away. I listened to them and it cost me $189 (which cost $95.00 at most to other places when I checked later).
Well, I want to share this information as well. I am going to inform all the customers I know to avoid Markham Midas (Kennedy and Hwy 7). This shop does nothing but to go after innocent customers. Please do something about that.

I took my truck to have a maintenance done, oil change and spark plugs and also the transmission flush. When I took my truck, nothing was wrong with it. The truck was running good and I didn't had any problem with my truck. When I left, my truck about five hours later, they told me that they had to replace the valve cover gasket and the engine performance intake man gasket.
At the beginning, they said that the work that I took my truck to be done was going to be about $430 and when they called me back, they said that it was going to be $950.26. So I told them to do the work for me. They told me it was cheaper if I did my work at that time because if I went back another day to have the work done, it was going to be more than $1000 and probably I was going to have to do the tune up, spark plugs and all the work that it was done already, so I told them to do it at that time.
But when I took my truck home, the following days my truck was turning off all the time. At the beginning, I thought that it was because of what was done but it kept doing it more often so I went to Midas again. So they can told me why. It was going this on Thursday the following week that they did the work and the person that was there said to bring it another day because they didn't have time to look at it.
So I waited until the following Saturday because that's when the guy that I talk to was working. So I took my truck to him and he said he was going to look at it. I waited for about two hours and they said that the truck was fine so I thought it was fine. But the following days, it was worst. My truck was turning off on every light or stop and I called them again and they said to take my truck again on Tuesday the following week and they asked me to leave it there that they were going to check the truck and they will call me when it was ready. So about 5 pm, they called me and they said that they had to keep the truck overnight so they can keep checking them.
The following day, they returned my truck to me about 5 pm and they told me that there was nothing wrong with it. They said that they were trying my truck and nothing happened to them, that the truck never turned off on them but they thought that maybe it was the cam position sensor and the crank position sensor. But they were not able to change it for me because the truck never die on them and if I wanted to change that I need it to pay and for each thing I had to pay about $400. So it was going to be about $800 and up but if the truck continued like that to take it back if the check engine light turns on. When I checked my truck, all my gas was gone. I had almost full tank. Well, I took my truck it looks like it runs okay but after a couple of days, it starts doing the same. But now I was running on a 40 miles and the truck completely turned off and I almost crashed.
I called them again and I explained to them what was going on with my truck, that it was doing the same thing they told me that they can not do nothing about it unless the engine light turns on or if they try the truck and the truck and dies on them they where able to change that as a courtesy. I told them if there was anything that I can do and they said I can have them to make the work for me but I had to pay for the complete work and that they didn't give me any discounts or nothing that the only discounts they have was the ones online that is only $30. This is the only transportation that I rely on and I have my truck park outside because at this time I don't have the money to do it.

After checking the brakes, they reported the front brakes were in "great" condition, near new. Midas attempted to scam us into replacing front brake system that was in a perfectly good condition.

I brought a car in for reinsertion after it was failed a few days prior. As part of NYS law I was allowed to do the work myself and fix the problems that caused the vehicle to fail inspection. The car was brought into their shop at 2:00 pm and they started the inspection. After an hour and a half the owner of the shop, Mike, came out and stated that he doesn’t have the time to inspect the car and we would have to wait until 5 pm, noting that the car was still on the lift in their bay.
When I asked why the owner Mike stated he did not have time at this moment, he then became very rude to me when I asked why. He then ripped his business card out of my hand, and said if I don’t like it tough and he would take the car down off the lift so we can leave when he felt like it and I didn't have a choice in the matter. The owner of this establishment is very rude and irate to not just me as a customer but to other customers in his store as well. This owner Mike started giving me a problem as soon as I stated the work that needed to be done to pass inspection was done by me.

I came to the Midas located on Ogontz Ave to have my oil changed for the special, that had been advertised $19.99. Because of the make and model of the car, it was additional. The manager Bill suggested that I purchase the high mileage oil, since my car has 83705 miles. The car was used over the weekend. On 3/14, there was an odor while driving. I thought maybe there was oil burning off of from spillage. The car cut off twice. On 3/15/10, about 10:00 p.m., leaving Center City, the car cut off twice and the oil light came on and the car kept cutting off. As I was dropping a family member off to their home, the car began to make a weird nose. The car would not stay on. I had to phone for transportation to my home. On 3/16/10, I checked the oil level, it was very low.
I called the Midas at Ogontz Ave, where the car was serviced and spoke with a customer service representative. I explained the situation, left a message and contact number. He suggested that I have the car towed to the Midas Shop, located at 8141 Ogontz Ave. I asked him to have the car towed on the expense of the company, since I had recently paid for oil change services. He said that it could not be done. I asked if I would be reimbursed when I arrived with the vehicle. No, was the response. "I do not know if it is our fault" was the response. Sir, there is no oil in the car. It smells as if something was burning. "I am not going to pay for a tow.
We do not have a towing service. " What about your customer service policy? I asked. You tow it, we will look at it. I became upset which is not good for my health. I called back on 3/22 or 3/23. He was busy. The customer service representative took my name and number and asked what the call was in reference too. I explained the situation. He has not returned my call as of 3/31/10. On 3/31/10, I phoned and spoke with another representative. I explained my concerns with the car and company. He asked to be able to speak with Bill.
He suggested not to and drive the car or put any oil in it. He informed me to wait for Bill's call by 8:30 AM on 4/1/2010. At that time the topic of towing and problem solving would take place. I explained that I have had to utilize public transportation for errands and work. It has been very annoying for me to be at the mercy of others to assist me, to my home in suburban Pa. My vehicle has been sitting in front of a relative's door since 3/15/2010.
This neglectful incident has caused me financial and physical strains. I am not sleeping due to worry. I have not been able to attend Bible Study in the evening. It has made it difficult to get to Suburban Pa. where I live. My occupation requires me to travel to 30 different homes weekly. I have had to be exposed to the elements on public transportation which has escalated into a cold and financial strain. The car sounds weak when the remote is used, the engine light is on, there is a burning odor when the vehicle was being driven (metal). I am insulted; the initial customer service policy was not what I expected and my vehicle is not home. It has been parked in Philadelphia in front of a relative's door.

cylinder was bad and would cost us another $200.00 for the job.
I scraped up the money and he had the work done. He brought the car home and then went to the store with it. On the way back he had to make a sudden stop and he ended up hitting someone in the rear to avoid hitting a mother crossing the street. He called me when it happened and I told him to take it back. Midas again bled the brake system and the told him there was a blockage to the proportioning valve that needed to be replaced and it was $200.
We then took the car for a second opinion to Just Brakes 3 doors down and come to find out the master cylinder was not properly bench bled before going on the car. We paid them $40.00 to do that and then we had brakes and they told us parts were missing on the left rear brake and they did a temporary fix and ordered the parts. My husband brought the car home. The next day I took the car shopping. When I got to the store my left rear wheel was smoking and the center was too hot to touch. It was so hot it melted the plastic hubcap to the wheel.
I had to wait for an hour and I had no money to tow it home, so I drove it slowly home. I had my husband go to Just Brakes again to check that out. Come to find out the fix didn't hold and I needed $600.00 more of work on the rear brakes. The problem: both brake pads and drums were gone, not useable, and the wheel bearing on the left side was shot, which means new races and bearings. We called Neil of Midas, who referred us to his district manager. We got a call but my husband was asleep and when he woke up he called him back.
The receptionist answered and told my husband that the district manager was out and she would give him the message. We have not heard from them. This all happened in the last 2 weeks. It’s an accident that could have been avoided and my job as assistant manager is at risk. I need a car to do my job and having only one car that's all we can afford. My Honda needed a muffler repair that was completed on 7/16/09. The final price of repair was substantially higher than estimates I got from other Albany area Midas dealers. My son went to this dealer simply because this location was the closest to him. He assumed repair would be close to the estimates I obtained. I was shocked when I saw the final bill. I spoke with manager, Mark, that afternoon. I told him I disagree with the repair price. It was $80 above other estimates. He did not accept my reasoning.
He hid behind the veil of each Midas repair can mark prices up at their will. He blew me off spouting gibberish. I investigated. These facts were presented verbally to Mark on two occasions over one month. In the last conversation, he stated that if a refund is to be issued, the owner Kent S. needs to authorize it. No monies were refunded.
Local Midas repair centers confirmed that there are two ways of repairing a 1999 Honda Civic muffler. I cite prices I canvassed from three other local Albany Midas centers. Choice number 1: 1999 Honda Civic 4-door has a Midas muffler with the exhaust pipe welded/attached for $129 (part # 241224). They charged $153.95. Choice number 2: the same repair may be accomplished by using muffler part # 152015 for $89 and an attachable exhaust pipe (part # 320275) for about $40. The price from repair was $49.95.
The total price of number 1 and totals of number 2 are about $129. This shyster billed for the complete unit 241224 (#1) that has the exhaust pipe as an integral part of the muffler assembly and the exhaust pipe from number 2. He fraudulently billed for a product that was never installed. He also price gouged me by selling products that are not competitively priced for this region. Refund was obtained by taking owner to small claims court. I showed up. He did not even bother. On the refund check he mocked me by writing, "Refund for cheap customer." He was wrong with no remorse. Shame on him. This Midas repair center committed fraud by billing for uninstalled part. It also marks up products more than 20% from similar Midas franchises in this area. Settlement of claim required small claims court. The owner, Mr. Kent S., is arrogant and without remorse. I would avoid this repair center at all cost.

I had taken my 2002 Chevy Impala in for a free diagnostic test, because it had no power on take off, and had an exhaust leak. When the manager, I don't know his name, came in from the garage, he asked me how long the gas gauge had not been working. I told him for a couple of months, and I needed to get that fixed soon also. He told me that the test are pointing to the fuel sending unit being bad. So he gave me a quote, which was way too high on parts, but reasonable on labor. So I went to a parts store, and got the fuel sending unit, and returned to Midas. They said they could do it in a bout three or so hours, and I said great, because I need the car to go to work tonight.
About five hours later, I called and asked about the car. The manager told me it would be ready in about 30 minutes. So I went into town to get the car. When I got there, the car was still on the lift, and didn't have the tank in it yet. So I sat down and watched them work on it from the sitting room. Two of the employees were lifting the fuel tank up to the car, and then they dropped it. The manager went out to the garage, and then came in to ask me to come look at the car. When I saw the gas tank, I could see that the fall broke the new fuel sending unit. They said they could get another one, but it will take a couple more hours, but could still get it done today. I went home and waited for a call.
About 5:00pm or so, the manager called and said it is ready for pick up. I went back into town to get the car. I paid for it and left. While I was driving down the road, I noticed that the gas gauge still did not work, and still had the lack of power problem. I went to the gas station to put in some gas. It had taken me over 5 minutes just to pump $ 2.30 of gas in the car. It just would not take it. So, I went back to Midas, and told them about it. The manager told the guys to pull it back onto the lift. They all were looking at it.
Then the manager came in, and told me that when they dropped the tank, a safety valve closed in the filler tube, and was not allowing fuel to get in, so they needed to take the fuel tank out again. This time, they needed the car overnight. I didn't get to go to work that night. The next afternoon, the manager called and said it was done, but the gas gauge still didn't work. At this time, I just went and got the car and left. It still didn't have any power.
Later that week I had taken the car to an AC mechanic, and found out that the problem was the catalytic converter. They changed it, and it had great power. Now the gas gauge, he told me that I need to change the wiring harness when you change the fuel sending unit, or the fuel gauge will not work, and the harness comes with the part. He also told me that if they dropped the tank, then it may never work right, and will keep sending codes, and it does. I have not gone back to Midas, because I don't feel I can get anywhere with those guys, and I'm sure they won't admit to not changing the wiring harness. So now, I need to pay someone to fix it again. I missed one night of work. My fuel gauge still does not work and I may need to replace the fuel tank.

On Nov. 14, 2009, I took my 2003 Kia Sorento to Midas for an oil change. They advised me that my belts needed replacing and they replaced 3 Serpentine Belts. The next morning, I heard a "squealing noise" in my engine. I went back to Midas and was told that the noise was normal because I park in a garage and I should put a dehumidifier in my garage. I thought that was odd, but thought they are the mechanics. So I lived with the noise for a month or so. Took the vehicle back another two times and was told nothing was wrong.
I then decided to go for a second opinion. One belt that Midas installed was the incorrect size and the other was improperly installed. I had to have them replaced by another repairer. The squealing then stopped. I feel Midas performed faulty work and I should be refunded the amount I had to pay Midas for the belts and labor in the amount of $258.26.

I had my 2004 Mazda 6 towed to Midas in West Caldwell, NJ because it broke down while I was driving and it was not accelerating properly on January 27, 2010. I changed my spark plugs, three coil packs, oxygen sensor, and did a fuel injection cleaning for $1,000. I asked them specifically if there was an engine failure, Vinny said definitely not! I picked up the car on the evening of January 28, 2010, during which, Vinny, the manager, claimed the only issue was a ripped air intake causing a vacuum in the engine. He ordered me an intake which cost me $130 and said he will call me as soon as it arrives.
It was lacking acceleration, and was letting out a massive amount of smoke from the exhaust after I picked it up. I called Vinny and informed him; he said it was all due to ripped intake. Two days later, on February 3, 2010, the car broke down again. I towed it back to Midas, now claiming it is not only the air intake, but two catalytic convertors collapsed which will cost me $1,300. When I arrived to pick up my car the second time, Vinny had changed three catalytic convertors instead of two, this indicated to me that the original two did not fix the issue so he changed a third.
The car was left running this time, after paying another $1,300, the car shut off by itself. Vinny claimed that whatever the problem is, he would fix it for free. During the first week, he changed numerous sensors, but the car is still lacking acceleration and shakes severely. Vinny now claims that the engine needs to be replaced. I requested a $2,300 refund, which they will not provide.
He suggested that he can change the engine, sell my car for approximately $5,000, and then he will take $2,000 for the cost of the engine, and give me the rest. That would mean that I made $700 off the sale of my car? Vinny admitted on a phone conversation that the engine was bad from the first day I brought it to him but had difficulty determining that. A proper diagnostic on the car from the beginning would have determined that and I would not have paid $2,300. I am looking to get a full refund.

Well my experience with this particular shop started in January 2009, I took my car to Midas (which I thought was a reputable shop), to get a heater core replaced. After putting in the part and paying for the service, I drove my car home (about 2 miles away). When I got to a gas station about a mile away, my car started to smoke really bad. After being informed by several people I needed to get it checked, I told them that I just came from Midas. Needless to say everyone laughed.
After taking the car back to Midas on Monday, I was told that I need new gaskets, head gaskets and pretty much a new engine. I was livid, I had no trouble with my engine prior to taking my car to Midas. I decide after talking to Gary and making a financial arrangement with him to pay another $350 to repair the car (which was a 1999 Ford Taurus with about 135,000 miles on it). This was February 2, 2009, I did not get my car back until August 6, 2009, yes six months later and several promises to take care of me and my car.
When I got to the shop they could not find the keys to my car! Good thing I had an extra set at home, which I had to go back and get. Upon asking Steve the manager at this shop for a bill he said "Don't worry about it, we will take care of you", then I left. I immediately drove to the gas station to fill up my car. After driving about 1 mile my car was running like a mack truck. I called the shop back to inform Steve, that there was a problem with the car. I was told that it was probably because of the car sitting for so long.
Okay, I'm not that familiar with cars so I said okay. Two days later I happened to check the fluids and there were no fluids in the car, oil, transmission fluid, or anti-freeze, which I bought and put in the car. I was called by Steve 3 days later and told to bring my car back so they could repair my side mirror which was broken. You have got to be kidding me! No way was he getting my car for another 6 months, so I said no. I was informed then that since I did not pay the bill I would be charged with a crime. What a joke! I never received a bill!
Subsequently I was told I had an arrest warrant for felony theft of my own car! I had to turn myself in and be marched thru the courthouse in downtown Cincinnati with handcuffs on me. Believe me this was no fun! I also had to hire an attorney at my expense and miss several days of work to fight this charge. Not to mention the emotional stress and anxiety this is taking on me. We had a trial on January 5, 2010 and they finally came up with a bill, printed the day before court January 4. I did win my case, but at a $10,000 price tag. My car is not repairable and was junked after this, I had to buy a new car, pay an attorney, miss work, get arrested, and fight them in court. Midas is just not worth dealing with. Be warned!

I had just bought a Saturn from a private owner. My husband looked at the car and advised me that I would need an oil change and a coolant flush. We were not familiar with the area, and the nearest service center we could find was Midas. We walked in and were unenthusiastically quoted a price. We agreed to the service and were given an estimate of 1 hour and a half for the work to be completed. We then continued to an Autozone to pick up a replacement oil filler cap that the car needed.
And hour and a half later, we returned to the Midas and were told that we would still be a few minutes for the repairs to be completed. As we waited, we were advised that the oil filler cap was missing. We told the service writer that we were aware of the issue and handed him the replacement we had just bought. He took it to the technician who replaced it. We were also advised of a hole in the muffler. We declined service on it. Ten or twenty minutes later, the car was pulled out and we drove off.
A week later, we decided to check the oil again during a fill up. There was only about a quart left in a 4 quart capacity engine. There was also no coolant in the filler tank. The car has a pressurized return tank, and this is where you fill the radiator for. As well as the cost of the additional coolant, we were also out the cost of 10 or 15 quarts of oil to replace what was eaten by a leaky valve cover gasket.
We were never advised of the leak during the service. My husband replaced the gasket and now the engine is having no problems. As well as the failure to inspect the engine thoroughly as they were supposed to, they also failed to inspect the rest of the car as they were supposed to. Over the course of a few weeks, we have come across various other problems that should have been seen easily by a trained technician even passively looking at the car.

I have had an oil leak, a small drop. I brought my car in to Midas to fix the leak. The man's name was Brian. He gave me a visual inspection, and did not clean up the oil underneath to see where the leak was coming from. He said that there was so much oil he couldn't tell where it was coming from but that he needed to replace the oil pan gasket, the transmission oil gasket, and the valve cover gaskets. I mentioned that I was a quart low. They began, and said I have one broken engine mount, and that since they had it up, they would not charge me labor, but just for 2 mounts, and might as well replace both mounts for the cost of the mounts only. They came to me again in the waiting area, and said that I would need a transmission flush for $200. I replied that, that is too much for me to pay $200 for a flush.
He then said that he would only charge me $69.50 then to add new oil (I wondered why it would be $200 for a flush, then they charge me $69.50 for the oil). Later, they came up to me, saying I would need an oil change. I said., I have a coupon, for a free oil change, from when I recently put brakes on this car there. They said that I should take the car and have it steam cleaned underneath, to clean off all of the oil, and drive it and bring it back, so they can see if it is still leaking. It is so oily they can't see. (I thought they were supposed to clean it off to see where the oil was coming from. They couldn't tell? ) Then they should have cleaned it up when finished, but did not. I was to have it steam cleaned. I said, "Are you sure I won't have any more leaking after all this money?" The bill was $1,088.38. He said, "Bring it back if it still leaks. We can see it when you have it steam cleaned."
The leak that I went in with was still leaking drops the following week. I took the car ni and told Jon, a white haired man, who usually deals with me on repairs, and he was off the day of Jan 16th, 2010 when this work was done. I told him my car is still leaking. He said, "Bring the car in on Friday, Jan 22, and I will put it up and have the oil cleaned off." (Why didn't they do this when they diagnosed it, and finished putting a valve cover gasket, a transmission oil gasket, and an oil pan gasket in) I was thinking. Then, after wiping it clean, Jonathan, the mgr., said that it was too oily to see, but now they can see after cleaning it up, that the rear main seal, and front transmission pump seal is leaking. It will cost $807.29 to fix now. I just had spent $1,088.38 to fix this leaking. They said that it would be fixed, but it was so oily that they could not see this.
I called the Midas main office at (650) 594-2695 and spoke with Ruth., and left a message for the district manager, Warren, to call me. I was unhappy that they did all this work to fix my leak, and the leak I went in to fix, is still leaking drops (small drops, not much). They want me to fix the rear main seal and front pump seal, labor costing $750, and parts costing 52.44, all because they overlooked this because they did not wipe clean to see where it was leaking. This is the leak that I thought would be fixed. They said if it keeps leaking bring it back in and they will fix it. I said, "It is leaking." Their reply was, "It was too oily to see where the leaking was coming from" (then they are just fixing all this stuff guessing? ).
I called Ruth at Midas, asking for dist. mgr, Warren, to call me. He did not call me. I called on Jan 25, left a message for him, the 26th, and left a message to call me, and the 27th and the 28th. He finally called on the 29th, and left a voice mail to me. I called him back within 15 min., and he was gone to lunch. I said, "Please have him call me." He did not until the following week on February 1. As I told him what happened and my feelings, he kept interrupting me and making excuses for everything. "It was so oily they couldn't see and the gaskets needed to be replaced."
I said that I had an oil leak, and that I went in, and they fixed 3 gaskets, totaling $1088.38, and I still have this same oil leak. I said to Warren, that I would like the rear main seal/front pump seal fixed. He said, "There is no way this is going to happen!" Then, he said he had to call Brian and ask him a question, and he would call me right back. He never did call me back. This was on Feb. 1st, and now it is Feb. 3rd and he still will not call me back.
I feel this is upselling me, and bait and switch operations going on here. I went in with a leak, and still have the same leak. I never had low transmission oil that is pink, dripping. My transmission reservoir has never been low. My engine oil was a quart low, and that is why I went in to fix the oil leak.

On a car trip to Western Virginia, my exhaust system suddenly began to make a noise which sounded like a hole in the muffler or one of the pipes. When I got back to town, I stopped in at my local Midas shop to get it repaired. They diagnosed the problem as a burned, melted air hose coming off the exhaust system, and had replaced it within a half an hour. Three days later, the same problem developed on the same highway in Western Virginia, so I returned to the Midas shop for an explanation and another repair. The manager looked at it and informed me this time that the burned out hose was due to the fact that my air pump was not working. He said he could replace it for $450.00 and to come back tomorrow for the installation.
I decided to get a second opinion and took the car to a trusted mechanic I had dealt with for years. He looked at the missing air hose and the repair slip from Midas. The slip stated that the replacement hose was non-standard, which was why it burned up. The correct hose, my mechanic explained, was a special hose designed to withstand high exhaust temperatures, and it came as a special kit. Furthermore, he said there was nothing wrong with my air pump, which he demonstrated by removing another hose connected to the air filter to let me feel the suction.
Why Midas let this happen I cannot explain. I've been a loyal customer for 35 years and they have not let me down until now. They should have told me from the beginning that the hose required a special replacement part. I could have come back the next day. Instead, they installed an inferior product. When I returned again they should have installed the correct hose, but rather they chose to lie about it and concoct a story that the reason the hose failed again was because my air pump wasn't working. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Midas for any repairs in the future. Thirty-five years down the drain, I say.

My husband is (was) a regular customer who received oil change from the above location.Today the manager was not happy when I presented a coupon we received in the mail. He told me I shouldn't have gotten that coupon because Midas stopped sending them a month ago. He told me though we've been regular customers, only doing an oil change is a waste of their time. The time it takes to do a cheap oil change could be spent on a customer with more serious car repairs.
I was very shocked to hear what he had to say. He said the coupons were to bring customers in to build relationships, not to be used all the time for one service only. As a manager, he should understand no matter what service is used, a customer who keeps coming back is a happy customer and a relationship has been built. He may like the same red pants advertised every month but he keeps coming. One day he may buy a white shirt to match; no matter what,he is a regular customer.
I told him that customer service is customer service no matter the service given. He told me yes and no! He was obviously not happy and I was very offended by his comments. If my husband and I choose to use Midas for Oil Changes only, that is our choice. Last I checked, a consumer can use goods and services of their choosing regardless of how many are offered, with or without a coupon. We will not visit this location again, I am sure black customers are disrespected just as I was today! This is something that happens a lot in the city. It's a sad reality. I told the manager thanks for letting me know how he felt and we will not use them for anything with or without a coupon. I would like for someone to call me regarding this, as I have already left a message on a voice mail. Thank you!

My exhaust tail pipe has fallen off, and now, I have to pay $213.52 to have repairs again. I feel as though I am being taken advantage of. Prior to this incident, the resonator fell off, and I returned the vehicle and pipe assembly to shop in question. The repaired? Now it is falling apart again. I feel as though it's shabby workmanship. If a vehicle was behind me, it could have cause an accident.

I had brought my Montana van in to have the wipers looked at since they had locked into place and refused to move. Since the summer ‘09 we have had rain most of time. I needed this fixed. I left the van there. The owner himself was to be working on it. I picked it up, came home from a 2-hour drive via Highway 400 and the wipers stopped working. I was sounded by heavy traffic and couldn’t see anything. Once I was able to move to the side of the road, I called my husband, crying. And he called the place.
My husband came and got me and we had the van brought back to the place. We picked it up the next day. This time I was on Highway 401 and again in the rain they failed—the repeat of the last time. My husband brought it back and this continued to happen over the whole summer. And of course wipers were the problem. The mechanic replaced every part: motor , wipers, springs, etc. When I left there the last time having every part replaced, the wipers again failed. This time the mechanic said a part broke and I need to replace it again. But since I just bought a brand new one and paid and it being less than 24 hours, I refused to pay again for a part they had put in, and it broke right away.
I asked my husband never to bring the van back there and to someone else. I called head office to put a complaint in; I never heard back. But my husband brought the van in to be fixed. This time it lasted for 2 weeks till they stopped working. My husband finally admitted he brought the van back to Midas and not another one like I requested. When my van was yet returned again the wipers worked, but van was not behaving right. I brought it to a friend who looked under my hood and said it was just a short in the battery that it was jiggled loose. So after my friend made it tight, I got in and drove the van--worked great till yesterday. And here I am with receipts saying that Midas has repaired, replaced, and fixed my van over 7 times for the same problem. And my wipers do not work. It sits in my driveway since it is not safe to drive on the highway and Midas refuses to even look at it now since I made the complaint to head office.I don’t mind paying for something to be done. I just don’t want to keep paying over and over (in my case now 7 times) and still have the problem. The owner will not cover his guarantee for his parts, his service and will not return my calls.
This is very frustrating and I have no idea what to do now. Also during one of the times having my wipers repaired, I had paid for an oil change. This usually is done in Innisfil every month, but since my van was being repaired again I let them do it at Midas. After approximately a week my oil light refused to shut off. I brought it to the regular place and I bring it for an oil change. They said there was not enough oil and we had to put in 3 bottles of oil. How can they change my oil and not top it back up properly? I do not feel safe driving my family van anymore, with or without my kids inside. I’m afraid the wipers will again fail while I am on the highway. With the weather we have been having all summer, and now the snow for the winter, it is not safe for me to drive my van without wipers. Although I have paid in full over and over, it works for a few days then not. And now they are not willing to look at it and work on it unless I pay again.

I arrived at the Midas at 5:30pm and they close at 6:00pm. I went inside and asked the kid at the counter playing on the computer (Latin with a goatee and spiked hair, young kid) if I could get an oil change. He said there is not enough time and it was 5:30pm on the spot. So he said comeback tomorrow; I said, “I cannot come back tomorrow.” He replied if I would have gotten there at 4:00pm that I could have gotten an oil change. I knew I was totally being blown off. I worked in a lube bay myself, and the basic oil change takes 20 minutes or less. I saw there were no cars in the lube bay, and the kid just keep playing the computer.
I know that my car needs work and moving to the new area, I was looking for a new place to rely on for car work. I will find another mechanic and spend my money there. I'm writing this in hopes that someone in your company has some integrity and actually do something about this location’s bad reviews on the internet. I doubt anything will happen and I doubt you will reply personally, because a company that lets their employee's become trashy, whole sale, screw the customer franchise’s workers, especially in Beverly Hills, really does not have any integrity at all.

Customer Complaint for store manager at location 6902 E SOUTHERN, MESA, AZ 85208 - In the matter of the non-repair of our 2001 Toyota Rav 4, we would like to take a moment and express our concerns with Midas and their approach to customer service. Your website states "Our Service Pledge: We will always do right by you and your car and keep you safely on the road." To quote directly from the Midas Guarantee, "Midas is committed to earning your trust by providing you with the expertise, value and responsiveness you expect every time you visit us. We believe that auto care should be a hassle-free experience. For over 50 years, Midas has built customer relationships based on reliability and professional service. According to the Midas Guarantee, the Midas brand is motivated by values that have made the company a success: trust, service, reliability and the famous Customer First Commitment."
Where do I begin? As a female customer who knows absolutely nothing about auto repair, I came to you for the trusted Midas touch. My gravest concern is that I trusted Mr. **! We had service on the same vehicle in the past at this location, a catalytic converter and a battery replaced on separate occasions. The service was fine seeing that the exhaust system is in the scope of practice at Midas. My husband was out of town when the battery died so I took it back to this location to have it replaced. Apparently, transmission issues are not in the scope of practice to an auto shop that specializes in basic auto repairs such as mufflers, brakes and oil changes that Midas has built its reputation on. Lesson learned for all parties involved (hopefully), especially me.
To review my customer experience, let's start at the beginning. Midas had our vehicle from 12/18/09 through 12/26/09, eight days. Initially, Mr. ** quoted us $905, including taxes, for what he said was a solenoid that needed to be replaced in the transmission. When the car was completed, my husband came in and paid him on good faith, planning to return and pick up the car later that evening. Within a half hour, he called and told us that the car still had problems. At that point, he should have returned our money since services were not rendered. After 8 days and numerous conversations where we questioned whether he was equipped to approach this transmission problem, he continued to say we needed more parts and intended for us to pay for his guesses.
At that point, it was obvious that he was throwing parts at a problem and getting the same results, problem not solved, but it will only cost us a few hundred dollars more. He also said that if that didn't solve the problem, he would put in a used transmission at his cost. We told him we would not authorize him do this, and we wanted to take the problem to another shop. He then began exclaiming that all the transmission shops and dealers in the area were crooks and only wanted to take our money in a very loud, heated and borderline threatening manner. Not the type of attitude one expects from a customer service professional. We made the mistake of allowing him a second chance for redemption when he assured us he was 99% positive in his words that he could solve the problem and make us happy. I would later discover we had a better chance winning LOTTO.
When Mr. ** could not diagnose or solve the problem, after throwing more parts into the transmission, he called a buddy over at Toyota for help and admitted this to us. That's when I was certain we were at the wrong repair shop. On our final visit was to pick up the vehicle. Mr. ** stated, "Oh, by the way, there is nothing wrong with your transmission." (**?) Our business relationship had ended and we had nothing further to say to Mr. **. We had the vehicle towed to a shop that could adequately diagnose and solve the problem. To our surprise, Mr. ** neglected to tell us there was no transmission fluid in the vehicle. One of his mechanics was kind enough to run out and warn us that there was no transmission fluid in the car and asked us if Mr. ** had mentioned this. We told him that detail had been overlooked. When he questioned Mr. ** about this in my presence, I heard Mr. ** say quite loudly, "They're just going to be dumping it out anyway!"
The facts that Mr. ** returned our car without transmission fluid, stinking inside like an oil can with grease on the floor mats and upholstery, in the same or possibly worse condition, for a total cost to us of $580 after a $325 refund for new parts he removed from our transmission, which initially he refused any refund for, demonstrated to me his incompetence, lack of integrity and concern for customer satisfaction. He would not admit any responsibility for an inability to properly diagnose a problem but had no problem with the idea to keep throwing parts at a problem he could not solve and expect us to pay for them! We can recover from the $580 Mr. ** refused to reimburse us for services not rendered. However, my question to you in these uncertain economic times is "Can Midas afford to lose customers and future referrals with someone of Mr. **'s caliber representing them? Are you doing better than most with so many choices out there?"
We called another Midas franchise in the area to ask about their store policies and corporate information and he was concerned to say the least at the service we received, but was not surprised when we mentioned the store location. We towed the car to a well-known transmission shop. They diagnosed a repaired the problem in less than 24 hours. Unlike the Midas shop, they were courteous, professional and their shop was spotless. They washed our car prior to picking it up after a week outdoors during the day at Midas. We will be sharing our experience with the business that referred us to this shop, the BBB that this shop is not a member of for obvious reasons and the Mesa Chamber of Commerce.

I went there to do an oil change. Then I decided to do a diagnostic to check the car. They told me I had to change the timing belt ASAP! The problem was that the mechanic couldn't close the hood (I had an accident a year ago so it's a little difficult), so the mechanic called me to go close it (something I'm paying him for). Anyways, the mechanic (Bill) ended up closing the hood. When I went to the office, I was talking to the manager about how good the mechanic is. Then Bill came in and the manager said, "Bill, we were just saying how good of a Christmas spirit you have." Bill answered very condescendingly, "Christmas spirit? Ha! You better charge him $20 for closing that hood. It took me 30 minutes to close that thing."
I was shocked and I refused to pay the $20, but the problem came 2 days after. While I was driving on the highway, the hood opened and damaged the car. Thank God I had no injuries! I decided to email Midas and got an automatic email saying they called the Auto Service. I will get a call from them soon. Nothing happened! I called Midas a few days later. Same thing. I am supposed to wait for a call from the Auto Service. Nothing happened! Very disappointing!

I took my 1997 Buick Le Sabre in for an oil change and no other work was done on the car. When I left, I noticed that it took me more pressure on the brakes to stop the car. I got down the road and my brake alarm and light came on and this never happened before. I called Midas and informed them what was happening and they told me to bring the car back in to be looked at. I was then told that my brake line gave way and my fluid was coming out. This didn't happen until I brought my car into their store for an oil change. I wonder why they didn't notice the fluid when they were draining the oil. It was all over. I'm very suspicious and think I've been had. I did not let them fix the problem as I felt they were the reason for it all. I drove home with practically no brakes. They put my life on the line.

I took my 2001 Chevrolet Venture in for a routine oil change and tire rotation. After the work was done, they did an evaluation of work they felt should be done.
The told me I needed: 1) a new battery after they had checked it, $102.00, 2) tie rod replacement, $287, 3) Wheel alignment, $79.00 Since I had purchased the battery only 1 year ago, I went to the store where I purchased it for a check. It checked out "fine. " I then went to my local dealership for them to check the tie rods. They told me that "they were in good shape, and did not have to be replaced."
So, I believe Midas was trying to get me back into the store for things that were not needed. They also recommended Power Steering Flush, Transmission fluid exchange, engine de-carbonizing, The total bill would have been $834 if I bought into it. I will not go back there again.

I took our car to have the brakes bled, because I had installed a new master cylinder. I received a call from the manager that the new master cylinder I had put on was not good, so I gave the manager the okay to proceed with putting on another master cylinder, bleed the brakes and further adjustments. I had to take the old master cylinder that I had removed to the shop to avoid a fee. When I went to pick up the car, I was given the master cylinder that I had purchased so that I could return it; however, the reservoir that was attached was an old one that had been previously removed. I spoke with the manager and told him that I could not return the part with the old reservoir. He said he could not replace it, without speaking to the corporate office and would call me with their decision. That was over two weeks ago, and I have not heard from anyone at Midas. I feel that Midas should have given me a new reservoir with the new part that I had paid for and needed to return for a refund. Therefore, since they have not called me back, I am spreading the news not to use them for repairs because I feel they do not stand behind their work or reputation.

I've taken my Honda Accord to Midas (Cincinnati, OH Glenway Ave.) 4 times in the last 6 weeks for the exact same problem. The car would turn over, but not start. The first visit, they replaced the fuel pump because I was told the fuel pump wasn't getting enough fuel. I've since spoken with a Honda dealership and was informed, a Honda is losing fuel pressure, the main relay (much cheaper to replace than the fuel pump) is most likely the problem. I'm not sure why the main relay wasn't the first part Midas would check. Possibly because replacing that wouldn't get enough profit. Still on the first visit, somewhere during the time Midas had my car and I drove it off the lot (about 4 hours later), the exhaust pipe was cracked. Steve (manager) told me it was from the tow company, so I had to pay to have that fixed
One week later, my car had the exact same problem. It would turn over, but not start. I took it back to Midas. They replaced a part connected to the fuel pump and told me my car should be fine. Two weeks later, same problem, the car would turn over but not start. I was told this time by Steve (manager) the problem was the distributor. This part was replaced. I was guaranteed by Steve (manager) that my car was 100% and I would have no more problems. Less than one week later, same problem, the car would turn over but not start. By this time, I've spent $2,281. I took the car to Midas, demanded to fix it and refused to pay anything else. Steve was on vacation so this time, I dealt with Isaac, the self proclaimed Honda Specialist.
I asked if he was the Honda Specialist, why didn't he work on my car six weeks ago? He informed me that Steve (manager) picks and chooses who works on cars and didn't want to give my car to him (I'm figuring less commission for Steve). Isaac informed me he has no idea why Steve (manager) replaced the distributor because he's 100% sure my car needed a main relay. So, the main relay was replaced one week ago and so far, the car seems to be running okay. After my terrible experience, I decided to contact the district manager (Gary **). Gary was on vacation so his voicemail said contact Charlie **. I contacted Charlie the day I got my car back and explained my situation. He told me I had a valid concern, but I needed to drive the car over the weekend and call him back. I called Charlie on Monday morning, left a message and he never called me back.
I decided to contact Gary (District Manager) later that afternoon. He was very unpleasant and frankly, very unprofessional. He felt the need to address me as sweetie, which lends itself to the misogynistic tone of the whole experience. I explained the situation, told him I felt I had been taken advantage of after spending $2,281 and having the exact same problems. He told me my parts were bad and needed to be replaced (after speaking with a Honda dealership, they informed me that fuel pumps rarely need to be replaced and they always check the main relay first). He told me he'd get the old parts back so he can prove to me they needed to be replaced. Gary left a voicemail the next day stating they no longer had the parts. I called him back, left a message, but he never called me back.
I called him the next day. He told me the same thing (that they didn't have the parts). I asked how he was able to prove I needed the parts. He said he couldn't, but the techs stated I needed them so that's all he can say. He offered to pay for the $60 tow charge, but nothing else. I refused his offer, told him I was willing to pay for the main relay, but I wanted a refund for everything else ($2,281) as those items did not fix the problem. He became very agitated and told me he'd check with his regional manager (John) and call back that evening. Gary never called back that evening. I called him the next day. He informed me they were unwilling to refund the money. I then contacted Scott ** (Director of Marketing), left him several messages, but haven't received a call back.
I'm new to the area and a full-time graduating student. I don't have a disposable income. I feel as though they've taken advantage of me financially (I paid for services that didn't fix the problem) and emotionally (I'm positive this only happened because I am a woman and the district manager's misogynistic tone was evidence of that). I feel as if this is a possible violation of the consumer protection act in that they've charged me for repairs for which there is no reasonable basis. Midas should be held accountable for their unethical business practices.

I took my car in on a Monday because my brakes were making noise. They told me it would be $150 for pads and rotors if I needed rotors. I took it at 10:00 and at 5:00, they called me and told me that I needed calibers on the front as well. Now my price was $575. I took the money down there, which I know I was overcharged. I drove the car 20 miles and it started making the same noise again. I called them and they said, "Oh, it is just the fact that they are new." Thursday, while driving on a busy street, I tried to stop at a stoplight and slid completely through it. I almost hit two cars. I had my two month old son and my three year old with me.
I pulled over at the nearest gas station and had three different people tell me that my brakes are completely gone. They didn't even think that my brakes were ever fixed. I could have killed my kids, myself or someone that had nothing to do with this because they supposedly fixed a car for $575 and three days later, I have no brakes at all. I got a coupon showing you were offering 50% off on lifetime brake pads. This led her to your shop in Glendale Wisconsin. The sales slip (invoice **) shows they only installed one brake pad, not two. They sidestepped this by calling the discount alleged to be $37.49 as "lube oil filter". They also said on the invoice that we declined brake rotors and 50% lifetime pads. They charged $22.74 for shop supplies. That was first announced at the end, not when they wrote up the estimate. What were these supplies? When this was pointed out to the manager when we were to pay, he wrote on the invoice "lifetime warranty pads". This is clearly an attempt to avoid the warranty. He didn't even sign his name after he printed those 3 words.
The parts decline list also said brake rotors were declined, yet we paid for them. So how did you do? You'd have to drive the car to find out, but to let you know about your service - ___. You can guess what that is. Oh yes, after preparing this email and trying to send it to Midas.com as the brochure indicates to let you know how you did and visit you, no such web address exists. Midas' said-to-be email address to let them know how they did as they suggested in their sale brochure, was and is an unknown website.
Going to the net to find their website, they did have one and gave the form below to use to send them messages. They rejected the submission of the form to them claiming that the date was invalid. (July 28, 2009 as set forth on the invoice, I also tried inserting date as 07-28-09). So it was impossible to transmit the complaint or concern to them.

I took my car to Midas so they could replace my brake pads and fix an axle. I dropped my car off at 8:30 that morning and was not able to pick it up until 4:00PM. After paying $208.00, I drove out of the parking lot. Not even a minute down the road, my car made a noise and was stuck in drive. The car would not move when I stepped on the gas. Needless to say, I called back to the shop to let them know what happened and they did send someone to pick me up. Well after checking, they said that the snap ring that fits around the axle broke and that they sent the mechanic to get another one. They said they fixed the problem, told me it was just one of those things that happened and sent me on my way.
I drove home and everything seemed to be fine until 2 days later and the transmission started slipping. Being it was 4th of July weekend, I was not able to take the car back until Monday. I took my husband with me and after some choice words between my husband and the manager, they said they would check the car and make things right. Supposedly, they did. I drove the car for another month until I was going to work and my speedometer jumped from 65 to 105 mph. I slammed on brakes and started to pull off the road. After trying to put the car in park and it would not move, I had to leave it in drive. My car would not budge. The car had to be towed to another mechanic, who repaired it and all truth came out.
The axle that was placed on my car by Midas was not a new one like they charged me for. It was refurbished and defective. They only stated they would give me the money back for the part and not for the labor. When I took the part back to them, I can honestly say that they did refund all money, except towing, but this did not have to happen if they lived up to their word and name. Never have I ever been disappointed in an establishment. Women are easy targets for mechanics to get over on but to trust someone, especially a well-named business with your car and for them to charge you and lie to you about the parts and what was done to the car is ridiculous and uncalled for. I will never step foot into another Midas again!

So then again, I told them "Why didn't you call me before you went on with the repair?" Not only did they break one screw and called me, but they went on and broke four and still did not call me. If I did not call them, I would have gotten there to pick up my van and had to pay for their mistake. After I told them it was too much, they said for me to call them back in the morning and they would give me a better price. So in the morning, I called and they said that the best they can do was $1,850.00, and I told them that it was still too high.
My van is sitting in their place, being taken apart to where I cannot drive it and they are refusing to repair it unless I pay what they want. I feel that I should have been notified after one bolt was broken. That way, I would have asked them for a price on the repair but, no, they went ahead and kept breaking more bolts to where they have left me with no means of transportation. I feel like I have been taken, for their mistake. They should have called me before they continued with the work. Now, I do not know what to do. I do not have that kind of money to give them and they have left me on foot.

I went in to the Midas Muffler service center with my complaint that my car was making a loud noise when I started my car. After their initial inspection, they came to me and told me that it was probably the water pump, that the timing belt hadn't been changed and might be the pulleys. After 5.5 hours, I called to check on the status of the car. They said they were putting it back together again. I got a ride back to the service center. After a few minutes, I was called outside to the bay area where my car was and told that the noise was still there and it was probably the compressor (which I initially mentioned to them before they tore my car apart). The manager then said he would give me an estimate for the compressor. Needless to say, I cannot afford this because I had to pay $648.23 for work that was not needed in the first place. I believe they did this on purpose just to get extra money out of me. And I still have the problem with my car! Nothing was accomplished but them installing parts that were not needed!

I took my car to them on 06/30/09 for an oil change. When I left there, my car would hardly move and there was a clunking sound coming from my transmission. I went back to Midas and asked, "what did you do to my car?". They said all they did was change the oil. I explained to them what was going on. There was nothing wrong with my car when I took it there, so their mechanic took it for a drive then pulled it into the bay and said there was no transmission fluid in the car. I should take it to the dealer to have them look at it. I said, "Wait a minute, you guys should have looked at the fluid before I left. That is part of the oil change." They said they filled it up with fluid and sent me on my way.
When I got home, I called the dealership and made an appointment for 07/01/09. I took it there this morning and the guy pulled out the dipstick on the transmission and there was hardly any fluid in it. So all they did is put enough in there to get me home. Because I had taken my car to Midas for an oil change and not the dealership, I had to have my transmission fluid flushed and now put in at a cost of $196.80 and my oil change was $35.07. I told Midas they should give me the money for what it cost me to have the transmission flushed. But of course, they will not do that because they say it is not their fault. I know what they did, they took the plug off the transmission pan by accident and instead of making sure it got filled up, they just left it.

Lifetime Brakes was the coupon. Then I returned to Midas (my mistake) on 7/22/2003 with my Warranty Certificate in hand from Midas, and the estimate was no charge. But when I went to pick up the car, there was additional charges as follows: Rear: Free, Front: Labor $60.00, 2 rotor resurface $40.00, No sales tax charged - Total $100.00. I received a coupon in the mail, $19.99 oil change and tire rotation. Of course, I went on ahead and used it, thinking Midas is a well-known name and how bad can it be? Bad, ten days after the oil change, my car alerted me with the engine oil sign that oil was low and sure enough, when I got home, I had no oil in my car. I panicked and called my neighbor who checked my car and sure enough, no oil.
I left Midas and corporate a message to call me and see how this problem should be resolved. I walked to gas station and poured two quarts of oil so that I do not damage my engine. The following day, nothing was resolved, either because the manager felt it was out of his hands and at that point, there wasn't anything that could be done.
I called the corporate office and they weren't much help either. They said to take it to a mechanic and they would see how much they could help me in the repairs to my car caused by their negligence. How is it possible that their mistake should become my expense? I find that extremely unfair. My car ran perfect until they handled it and they should be responsible to take my car and return it to me without the damage they caused. The oil switch was replaced and now the motor mounts need to be repaired that were damaged because there was no lubrication. The estimated repair for that is $1,500.

On Friday, 6-19-09, at 4:00 pm, I took my 1993 Lexus LS400 to Midas because the brake light on the dashboard was lit. I chose Midas because I found a coupon for $149.99 per axle for lifetime brake service. That was the bait to get me to the shop. The switch was that the brake service was not for ceramic brakes which was recommended by service manager, Allan. The total cost for service for just the front brakes was $477.37. The only additional repair to the brakes out of ordinary was to replace a $32.95 front brakes sensor for $169.58. That is 528% increase in price for this part. Do not go there! They wanted $89 to change a burnt out light bulb in my tail light! I did it myself for $2.39 for light bulb and no tools necessary in less than a minute!

On 6/10/09, I had problems with my truck. I brought it to Midas and they quoted me $90 to check it out and see what was wrong. A mere hour later, my truck was fixed and I was told it needed an ignition distributor. When I asked to see the old one, I was told the mechanics couldn't find it because by standing over them, I made them very nervous and it couldn't be located. I was repeatedly admonished for "standing over the guys when they were trying to do the work". The final bill for the one hour my truck was there came to a whopping $499.47. It was a total ripoff and the advice given to never stand over people seemed to me as the real reason for being overcharged. I did stand over the guys for about 15 minutes. I also sat in the waiting area and even walked to a nearby gas station to get a sandwich. I didn't stand over them for the entire hour. They don't stock ignition distributors for 1993 Toyota 4Runners, the local Toyota dealership doesn't even stock such a part.
Normally, when a vehicle needs a part, the mechanic shop will explain the problem and the part needed, and upon approval, they will order the part. Then a pickup truck will deliver the part. At no time did such counseling or a delivery take place. Instead, when I asked them how much longer, they replied "You should be good to go in about 25 minutes". Mechanic shops don't install expensive parts without getting consent from the owner first. That is why I asked to see the old part, but to no avail. They took advantage of me as I was having vehicle problems far from home, which I explained upfront (I expressed interest in getting my truck towed to my regular mechanic before they got started). I was overcharged for work that wasn't performed. They charged me for a part that they don't stock and couldn't produce upon request, and blamed me for their inability to find it because I supposedly stood over them.

August of 2006, I went to this Midas for brakes. My truck was 5 years old and the front brakes were wearing down. I usually do them myself but didn't have the time then. They also said they had to replace the rotors. Total bill was about $400. The pads are the cheapest pads I have ever seen. There was an excessive amount of brake dust. I had to wash the rims a lot to keep the dust off of them. Now a little over 2 years later, the pads wore down so fast they have already started to cut the rotors. Pads should not wear out that fast. Of course, their warranty only covers the pads. You have to pay for labor and new rotors, which cost over 2 times as much as the local auto parts store. No wonder they give a lifetime warranty. They make a lot of money off of the customer just bringing it back for warranty work!

I took our 1995 Toyota 4Runner that I had just purchased from a private party in Turlock, CA into Midas in Merced to have them remedy an excessively loud exhaust sound coming from the vehicle. The manager at Midas named Conrad told me that the catalytic converter was making the exhaust noise but that I wouldn't be able to see it, because it was under the shield covering the catalytic converter he showed me which was still on the car while the car was up on the rack. I looked at the old catalytic converter he showed me on the car still and noticed it had flanges on either end while he was speaking to me. I also noticed that the car had a shiny red glass pack muffler instead of a standard muffler.
So I was lead to believe by Conrad that between the supposed catalytic converter leak and the glass pack on the vehicle that the noise would be eliminated with the replacement of the two items on the car. After Midas replaced the two items, I mentioned to Conrad the manager that the car seemed to be just as loud as before the work was done. Conrad told me, "That is the way Toyota 4Runners sound."

Well, on 11-4-2008, I had my 1970 Ford Cougar towed to Midas. I told them it needed a [dump valve?]. They disagreed and told me about 7 different things instead, which would cost about $1200.00. I said, “Are you sure?” “Yes.” “Okay, please get my brakes fixed, please put all old parts in the Cougar.” Nonetheless, about three days later, Midas called, “Yes, you need a port valve.” I was told they could not find parts but told me to order a portioning valve from Mustangs Unlimited. I did just that Midas [wrong valve] and ordered another valve [wrong one again]. So after I paid for my car to be towed somewhere else, I found they [MIDAS] had taken my battery [Motorcraft 850 Coldcrank, 10 yr. warranty], and put in Interstate battery. My husband became very distressed, had no choice but pay Midas $500.90 for: [1] metal brake line & [2] rubber hoses so they could not keep my car [per Texas law 70.001-B, property code].
I tried to call corporate office 2 times with only being able to leave a message with an answering service to solve the problem. The owner has not even attempted to call to try to solve problem. Corporate office has not tried to solve the problem. I'm still mentally distressed over this issue. Does anyone care? [No]. I believe Midas is such a big national name and a bunch of crooks hiding behind the title. Also, I did check on my car at one time - Midas had left the right side of the body leaning on tires. My husband had to ask them 2 times to rotate my tires back so the car would sit evenly.

On Saturday, 01/03/09, I called Midas to get a quote for a bulb replacement for my 2000 VW Beetle and an oil change. The bulb replacement for my passenger side headlight, with tax included, was 36.99; and the oil change was 19.99. I left my vehicle there while my daughter and I ran errands with my friend (Lisa had told me to come back by 5 to pick up my car). I called at 4:15 to see if the bulb had been replaced and the oil change completed and was then transferred to Corey who informed me that the headlights on a Beetle were quite tricky (something I already knew which was why I took the car to professionals instead of doing it myself as I had on my previous cars).
He then told me that the plastic case that held the headlight in had been broken during the repair and that I needed to go to the dealer on Monday to get a new part, bring it back to Midas and they would then repair it. They also stated the oil change had been done and I could come pick up my car. When I got to the shop, I informed them that I was not driving anywhere on Monday to pick up anything; and that I had brought my car in for a bulb replacement and oil change...nothing was broken until they got their hands on it.
At that time, Lisa informed me that "since it wasn't really our fault, and it wasn't really your fault, we are willing to go in half on the part with you". Not knowing how much half would be for the part (and simply not caring), I then informed her that nothing on my vehicle was broken when I brought it in...The bulb was out, that was all. Now my headlight piece is broken and there is a gaping hole where my headlight should be. From their tone and words used, I left with my vehicle under the impression that they fully expect me to pay for half of the part. Not only that, but I work Monday-Saturday and had taken the afternoon off on Saturday to get the BULB REPLACED and the OIL CHANGE ONLY...
Now I have to take time out of my schedule on Monday to take the car back to Midas. Also, my vehicle is now making a noise that it was not making on Saturday BEFORE I dropped my car off...hmmm. This particular Midas has been very problematic for several people I know and have caused me concern before, although at those times, they have been very apologetic and have made necessary repairs to fix any mishaps they have been responsible for. At any rate, when I go there on Monday, I will be picking up the headlight (that they kept), the part that they are getting, and I will be taking my car to Donio at the Midas on South Main in Salt Lake City...at least there is one employee that is there for the customers at Midas!!!

The clerk Bobby used scare tactics to get me to have my car repaired there. According to other local Midas shops, he is NOTORIOUS for using scare tactics to bring business in. My truck had very low mileage of 30k+, I can not find a price online being sold for that high amount I was charged for the part.
This was in October 2004 and after reading the news report about Midas it could be more stores as I was told it is the same owner. I did call them afterwards and spoke to a woman who worked there, she also seemed surprised about my situation and cost.
I was unemployed at the time, so the added distress being towed and then having to deal with an unexpected high cost with low mileage on my truck seemed very strange with unreasonably high expenses.

Midas is dishonest and wanted to replace a part that wasnt broken. My truck was making a terrible knocking noise when I tried to brake, so I took it to midas, my first mistake. Well, they take it out to drive and assess the problem. They bring it up on the lift, and show me the problem, Im missing some bushings in the suspension.
They continue to tell me that I need a whole new front end, and quote me for shocks and struts. $1400 later, I say no, take it off, I just need the car to work, I dont care about a bumpy ride, just need to be safe. They take it off, $698.45, I need new ball joints, new bushings, and they slipped an alignment in there. Turns out they forgot to add in their generous 2 hour labor charge - another $186. Total $897.47
Thats completely unacceptable for me, so I decided to take it to a local mechanic down the street. Not only does he quote me for almost 1/3 LESS than what Midas wanted, he also saw that I needed new rotors and brakes, and replaced those too. Total paid $500.76
Now, my problem here aside from the obvious expensiveness of Midas, but they didnt even tell me my brakes needed to be done, so it was $897 to fix only half of what was wrong. Now, when I got it back from the local mechanic, he explains what he did, how he fixed it, and that what midas wanted to replace - The lower ball joint - wasnt broken, it was in great condition, just needed to be tightened Never use midas, they are dishonest and prey on people who dont know any better. Youre better off with the local guy who will do an honest job.
No damage done, except to my state of mind.

On 08/02/08 I took my 2001 VW Jetta to Midas because I had the check engine light on and the engine would shake when idle. I was greeted by Michael Jaskowiak, he said they were gonna run some tests, I left the car and went to work. Later I called several times and I spoke with Michael and he kept telling me he'll call me back in 5 minutes, hours later I would call back. This is not the issue, when he finally told me what was wrong with the vehicle, he gave me several reasons why and recommended about $1200 worth of repairs.
I told him that by no means I could afford that and asked him what would be extremelly important to get the car on the road safelly, otherwise I wouldn't repair it, he told me a tune up and install a new Oxygen sensor, this would take care of the problem(check engine light would go away and car would run ok), and later on I could come back to get the rest of the work done. So I agreed on $731.22 of repairs, $345.80 (highly inflated prize tag) for an Oxygen sensor, and $139.28 for sparkplugs (also highly inflated prize), $68.02 of Engine diagnosis plus $205.88 in labor costs.
When I picked up the car, it seemed fine (the problem was on and off, so this didn't mean the car was fixed), so I drove it home and the next day when I started it, it had the same problem, check engine light on and the engine shaking a bit while idle, SO i took the car back to Midas, this time I was greeted by Chris, and he told me he'd check the car and call me, when he called me later he said he had to replace the oxygen sensor they installed and that now I also need a different sensor it it would cost me around $400, on top of the $731 I already paid!
So, basically, I paid $731 for sparkplugs and an oxygen sensor, and now they want more money to fix it. I want my money back or the car fixed, and they won't do either unless I pay more. He told me I can call corporate if I'd like, which I will, good luck with that right? I lost $731.22 and my car just like before. Plus the stress to have to deal with this.

My family and I went through to Hamilton for the weekend and on our way back the brakes were vibrating when braking and the squeak had come back. I phone Midas and took the car back to them to re-checked. I told them that the 'squeak' had come back and that the brakes vibrated when braking. They informed me that they could not find anything wrong. So I thought okay we will see how things go. The next day I took my car to work and the noise was getting quite bad. When I got to work I was told by one of my work mates to take the car to the machanic he uses which is situated at the back of my work place.
He diagnoised that rattle from front suspension on braking. Found that front brake pad sticking to brake calipers, so he serviced both sides. This cost me $113.62 to get done. When I phoned Midas and told them what had happend. Sean said that I should have given them the opportunity to fix the problem. I told him I did. Then he said I did not explain the problem properly to his leading hand.
I also mentioned to him that my son who was working on a construction site along Alfriston Road, so my car speeding at some rediculious speed and it looked like he was really 'thrashing' the car. He said that he was testing the brakes. I told him that it is only fair that he should refund me the money $113.62 that I had to pay out to the other garage to get my fixed and safe. I told him I was going to complain and he said that this was fine. Then starting quoting me some rubbish about consumer rights or something.
Then to top things off, the car started to make a 'whinning sound' and the brakes were vibrating upon braking even worse. I took the car back to the new machanic and he found that the shudder from the front wheels was from the rotors which were worbed and right front wheel bearing worn. So he had to skim both disc rotors again. This had been put on the invoice from Madis as one of the jobs they did on my car. This repair cost me $408.31. I should have heeded the warnings from people that told me not to take my car to Midas, But I thought I would give them a benefit of a doubt.

I went in to Midas about six months ago for a regular brake job. I did everything they told me I needed and waited there for three hours for them to fix the brakes. $550 later, I drove off under the impression that my car was done for a while. Within a couple of days, my car started squealing when I broke, so I took it back in again. They said that sometimes new rotors have to be resurfaced and that after they were resurfaced, the squealing would stop. I got the car back five hours later; however, within a couple of days, my car was back to squealing.
I took it in again, only to find out that the wait would be a couple of hours before I could get in. I asked if I could make an appointment for the following week, they said they could fit me in. I returned a week later only to find that there was no record of my appointment. I waited another three hours to get my car back...can you guess? the squealing continued even after the third time.
I contacted the regional manager and told them I wanted my money back. He swore up and down that he would oversee the job himself and get me in and out in an hour. I agreed and took it in. Before he gave me my car, he said "you need to get new tires because there is a wobble on the front wheels that is caused by bad tires. Here is my card if you want a good deal..." He handed me a business card for a tire dealer in a nearby city.
I asked him what he was talking about because my tires were under a year old and there was no wobble before I brought it in. He said that it couldn't have been them because he had overseen everything. I drove off to an awful wobble that got horrendous as I drove down the freeway. I decided to go back, but at the last second drove to my mechanic across the street. He looked at the tread in the tires and said he didn't see a problem. He drove the car and noticed the wobble so he put it up and decided to take the tires off. He took them off by hand!
It turns out that not only had Midas not tightened the lug nuts, but they had also not surfaced the rust under the rotors, so they were sitting awkwardly on the wheel. I was told, immediately after contacting midas for my money back, that I would get a full refund...that was two months ago. driving on the freeway with lug nuts not tightened. fifteen plus hours of visits. $550 on four bad brake jobs

I called to see what a new A/C compressor would cost. David asked me what my A/C was doing and I explained that it would not stay blowing cold air,but would then start blowing humid hot air. He told me for $19.95 he could hook it up and see what the problem might be.
After doing this,he asked if I had ever had any work done on the A/C. I told him no and that I bought the truck new in 2001. He said it was rare that a compressor would go out with mileage under 60,000. He said he thought it had too much Freon in it. David said he could flush out the system and recharge to see if it would hold. I then asked, if that didn't work, would he be willing to work with me for the recharge and then a new compressor and he said he would.
$131.05 later, I left the business with cold running air and I didn't have to have a new compressor. I was told earlier this morning (at another business), my compressor was running weak and that it needed to be replaced. I got one of those gut feelings I might be being had, so I called around and even went online to see what a new compressor would cost. A friend of mine told me I should call Midas to see what they had to say and I am glad I did.
David is an asset to this company. Besides being friendly, he was most helpful in answering questions. I can only hope the compressor holds out and that the recharge was truly all that was needed. I left Midas a happy customer and would like to say at this writing, I'd return again in the future. Thank you David.

I had it towed there, and I received a call saying the cables were all (3) frozen and needed replacement. They gave me an estimate of $436.00. I told them to go ahead; they said it would be done in the afternoon. At 7pm I got the car: total, $466.84. I e-mailed Midas and said I was not pleased with the price, and they called (mgr) and said it was standard rate for what they did. I told them I didn't think it was working properly, and they made an appt. for 9 am the next day. I arrived, there was no appt., and they said come back in a half hour and they'd get me in. I came back, and they said it will be another 20 mins. I left!
While not important to some, I missed my son's recital because the car wasn't ready as scheduled. I had to go back twice for an appt. that obviously wasn't scheduled like I was told. I feel $244.00 in labor is a bit much for replacing 3 parking brake cables.

Brought my '93 Mercury Villager in for replacement warranted muffler (purchased in '98). Was told by tech that I needed a pipe replaced that goes from the manifold to the catalytic converter. Problem is, he was pretty sure that he would damage the air intake line (cost unknown) and the catalytic converter (according to him, it was kinda rusty)--again at a cost unknown. The estimated cost? $508.92! I have a brother-in-law who is a mechanic, and could weld a small piece over the small hole, so I declined the 'additional part' and asked to just replace the forward muffler system--which was covered under the warranty. He refused and got the assistant manager, Leo.
Leo was irritated that I was not 'buying' the repair, and said that if I did not get the pipe replaced, that they only had to honor the warranty by giving me the replacement parts, and I'd have to have them installed elsewhere. I told him that all I wanted was the front muffler system and would be willing to completely pay for that portion out of pocket--no warranty needed. He absolutely refused! They insisted that I take the car elsewhere. I stayed in the bay with my car until they had taken it down off the lift and backed it out and parked it. I removed my paperwork from their clipboard, asked for the Assistant Manager;s name, and he said that all I needed was his first name, Leo. I then asked for the replacement parts, and now he refused that also! By the way, I have ALL the original paperwork.
I still need the muffler components replaced--and have arranged to have the front pipe repaired.

No big deal. Well, three weeks later, after daily phone calls to the shop to check the status of my car, I finally get it out of the shop. AT A RIDICULOUS PRICE OF $1500 I had to bring it back the next day because the lower seal was not properly installed. No charge for that. For the first three to four weeks, no problems. All of a sudden: no forward gears whatsoever. Mind you, I was still under their 90-Day Warranty. The vehicle had to be towed back to the shop. They tell me that they are not responsible for the car, that I would have to contact their regional office. I asked for the number and was told they don't have a regional office. So I asked for corporate's number, and they replied: "We don't have a corporate office."
I called up a buddy of mine to get the number online from his home computer. I called and the corporate office told me that in order for them to repair/replace the transmission I would have to come up with half of the cost. I tried contacting the BBB but to no luck. They said it would take them too long to get to it. I was overcharged, my warranty was basically ignored.

(It was under Midas warranty) But when he told me my wheel bearings were bad I knew he was trying to run up the bill as the bearings had been replaced by a local garage just prior to me going to Midas. When I told him the repair cost was too high for the value of the car, the tech offered to buy my car and said he would repair it for a friend with used parts. I want to know what kind of tech would install used bearings or used struts? I now advise anyone considering Midas to get a second opinion. The total cost is $901.23. Because my friend told me Midas is honest, I felt the price was too high but the job may be necessary for my car, so I agreed. Two hours later, the manager called and told me that my car is ready and the price is about $200 less. I was very happy. When I picked up the car, the manager told me every thing necessary has been done and the car is ready for the winter. After I got the invoice I realized that the reason for the less charge was that they had calculated the cost based on Maxima but my car is Altima! The total cost is less but the muffler for my Altima is 75$ more than the one for Maxima!
In addition, the noise from the car becomes even worse! I went back the second day and asked the manager the reason for the noise, he said the noise is from the front part of the exhaust system on which nothing has been done! and he told me to replace that part, I need to pay additional 258.58$ !!
Is this the type of service Midas is supposed to give? Is the price for the Muffler for Nisson Altima correct (Part number: 230913, price: 269.41$)?

Midas told me the transmission sensor needed replaced and the transmission fluid needed flushed. I asked Midas to make the necessary repairs and paid almost $500.00. It seemed to be running okay, but later that week the same problem started to occur and soon the check engine light came on again. I took the car back to Midas to get it checked again. After two days and my repeated calling, I was told that they could not find the problem and everything with the transmission sensor was fine. They finally said to take it to the Honda dealer as Midass machines could not locate the issue.
I went to Roush Honda and was told that the Transmission sensor? was bad, which was the very part that Midas had told me they had replaced and was running okay. I called Chris Bazell, the manager at Midas, and he told me, very impolitely, that Honda had not done enough testing. He asked me to come back in and he will show the Ohms rating on the transmission sensor. Im not a mechanic, so seeing the Ohms rating would mean nothing to me. As far as I was concerned, I paid $500 to Midas to have my car fixed, and they did not fix the problem, so I have to pay Honda to get it fixed again. I asked them to pay for my repair work at Honda or reimburse me for the work they did and he very rudely said they cannot. I asked if there was anyone else who I could contact, to which he said he was it.
Midas neither fixed my car, nor reimbursed the money I spent to get it properly fixed at Honda. I truly had a horrible customer experience and will never go to Midas again nor will recommend Midas to another person.
We spent almost $500, hours and hours of our time calling, dropping off, picking up our car...and still had to go to the Honda dealer to get the same part replaced, and had to pay for it all over again.

Although they were more expensive, I assumed a Nationally known company with a reputation would be more beneficial in the safety of my family. After a "free" inspection, I was informed I needed new front pads, and my rotors re-worked. I expected this, but the surprise was; my reaer brakes didn't need to be replaced, and the price for the fronts pads was almost $400. I was surprised about the rear brakes, because I knew from my own inspection that they were very worn. Midas only used the parking brake cable measurement method to determine the condition of the rear brakes, which are drum brakes.
After exactly one week, my front brakes were squealing worse than when I brought the vehicle in. I took it back to Midas, and they re-worked the rotore (really, this time) and sent me on my way. I suspect they only used "stop-squeal" on the brakes, because a few days later, they began squealing again. After exactly two more weeks, I took the vehicle back, and was told my front pads would be replaced free of charge, and I would get "a break" on the labor for the back pads which were now squealing as well. When I was ready to leave I said it will be nice to drive a quiet car ... and the response was, "Oh no the car is still rattling!" Feeling rather discourged I paid a LARGE bill of $100.93 and left. The car was shaking terribly. My heart was in my throat as I tried to turn around to get back to Midas. I cannot describe the shaking of my car and how bad it was. I had brought in a driveable car and now I could not drive it at all!
I said "What did you do to my car?" To which he said, "Nothing." They put the car back in the parking lot, the doors closed behind me and there I was STUCK. I had to phone a tow truck to get me to the dealership.
The next day the dealership discovered that the vacuum line to the transmission had been disconnected. At another cost of $89.70 it was replaced. I brought in a car for a vibration which was running great and ended up with an undriveable car needing a tow and another repair due to poor workmanship and an uncaring staff that closed the doors and left me there with no way of transportation.

I took my 1997 Land Rover Discovery in for a rear brake checkup. I knew the car needed pads, possibly rotors. They called saying that the rotors needed to be replaced and that it would cost over $800. Replacing rotors and brake pads on a truck doesn't take more than 1-2 hours max if you are slow. The parts for the truck cost $199 for me to purchase, and I'm not a multi-national corporation.
They wanted to charge me over $300 for labor (close to $150 an hour worse case) and over $400 in parts. I'm not against a business making a profit, but gouging customers because they drive a "luxury" vehicle is ridiculous. Labor should be $70-80/hour maximum and the parts should be no more than $300. I will never use or recommend them again.

I went in for an oil change in preparation for a road trip that same day. I travelled from Hyannis to Boston, and a warning light came on to indicate that there was no oil pressure. I pulled off the road and had the car towed the 65 miles back to Cape Cod. The tow truck driver told me that oil was all over the bottom of my car, that Midas either didn't replace the oil filter or didn't put the cap back on, but most likely "blew a line," as the car had gone more than 60 miles before losing enought oil to prompt the warning.
I went in to Midas Muffler first thing MOnday morning. I was told that my oil had been very dirty, and that what had come out the bottom of the car had been that residue. The manager told me that he almost didn't change my oil that day because the dip stick had been rusty and it had looked like the oil hadn't been changed for awhile. The dip stick looked fine - he said that the new oil and "additive" had cleaned it. I watched them drain the remaining oil out of the engine and it was dark brown and the service person said it felt sticky. The oil had just been changed, and I commented that the oil looked very dirty.
The manager absolutely refused my request to take the filter with me "just in case" there was a problem. I took the car immediately to Transatlantic Motors where it is being looked at today. I believe Midas did not put new oil in the car, and, if they did, they failed to tighten the oil filter properly.

I was also charged and extra $30.00 for labor while in the mean time the SPECIAL for brake pads, turning the rotors and labor cost was $98.00.
If I had a liftime warranty why did I pay the same price as a special. I should not have to pay for pads again I feel you owe me $30.00. I strongly feel Midas cannot take my money, argue with me and expect me to continue to be a faithful customer.

I took my 1997 Ford Expedition to Midas in March of 2003 to have my spark plugs changed and my spark plug wires changed. The orginal plugs and wires were Motorcraft. I informed them that I had my own spark plugs and wires which was Bosch. In June of 2003 my "check engine" light came on and my car was shaking. I took my car to another mechanic and he said that my #4 spark plug was misfiring. I had him pull the plug and it was a Motorcraft plug.
I had him change the spark plug, then had him check the others. I sat there with him and watched him one by one pull out all Motorcraft spark plugs, although they had changed the wires to Bosch.
I had to pay $80.00 to get the car put on a machine to find out what was wrong with it. I then had to buy eight more spark plugs and I had to pay for labor to get the new ones installed.

I asked specifically if the oil change special included a lube. They said yes. (They meaning the man at the counter and a mechanic). I went back in the next day for the service. After about 45 mins, they were done.
On my way to work, I stopped to get gas. I crawled underneath and saw that they did NOT touch ANY grease fittings! I called them back and asked why my truck wasn't greased. They were unapologetic like it happens all the time. Took it back in the next day, dealt with a different guy and got the same attitude. He said the oil change normally didn't include a lube. I showed him my reciept that says "lube, oil, filter". He acted like he was doing me a favor by greasing it. He offered nothing for my time or miles that I drove there. Not even an apology. Upon inspection, replacement of front brake rotors was recommended and the estimate provided for me was $540.00 which included $116.00 for each front brake rotor (part only). I authorized the job, but then called up AutoZone to see what price they had rotors for. The most expensive front brake rotors for 1999 Mazda Protege LX was listed for $49.99 each!
I then asked the location to stop work on the car. They asked me to pay $68.50 for inspection and reassembling the brakes. I paid this amount and took the car to a Firestone service center where I got the same work (new brake pads, new front rotors, rear brake adjustment) done for $236.00.
Thus the location attemped to gouge me on price and then charged me $68.50 just for inspection and reassembling my brakes.I went back to the MIDAS location and attempted to obtain a copy of the original estimate. I pointed out the difference in cost for the front brake rotors to the manager on duty. Before we even left the shop John agreed the alternator he had just installed was bad but he did not have time to replace it before closing and that I should bring it back in Saturday morning.
When I called Saturday morning he said he was backed up and that I should bring my car in about 1:00 and leave it! There was no way I gonna leave my car with the experience I have had thus far! So I called another car shop and they traded the alternator for a new one and installed it. In the meantime John calls and says, "Bring my alternator back in or pay me my money." Has a BAD experience with Midas Muffler Shop in Las Cruces, N.M. Was on the road & got bad brake sounds. Went into Midas Muffler to have it looked at. The owner tells it's a little problem, probably $50. We get it in on the rack where (out of my view) their ace mechanic checks it out. Now it's a BIG PROBLEM, estimate is $750 for parts/labor on my 4-year-old low-mileage pickup!
We look things over. Besides front brakes, which I did need, they tell me my rear brake drums are worn out and that BOTH rear brake cylinders were leaking. I show the mechanic how to use his inside caliper to measure the rear drums and we decide the rear brakes are OK. I feel they had probably given the rear wheel cylinders a squirt of brake fluid to generate the leaks.
Anyway, they do fix the brakes for over $400 and I get out of the place. Now the grand finale -- 6 months later I am selling the pickup and the buyer has it checked out by a competent garage. The front brake calipers had been put together on the WRONG sides - costs me again to straighten out what Midas had done wrong!

I took my car to Midas because of a squealing noise. Midas diagnosis was the front brakes needing replacing. They replaced the front brakes that I had done on 02/02/02, which had a lifetime warranty on the pads not the labor, or resurfing rotors. After the repairs my car was still making the squealing noise.
I took it back on 04/16/03 for the same problem. Now, the first time they did a complete brake inspection to find out the problem. I call the store ahead of time to inform them that I was bringing my vehicle back in. When I arrived I talk with Fred and informed him that my problem still existed. He stated that new brakes will make that sound until about 500 miles or until the brakes sets; I guess that is Midas lingo. After a brief discussion with Fred, his final words to me were, "What would you like for me to do?" I replied, "Look at my car and see where this noise is coming from." With an attitude he said, "Fine."
My car went for a test drive and the technician drove it into the bay and started inspecting the vehicle to see where the noise was coming from. Chi Chi was the tech's name. He shows me where the rear brakes were making the squealing noise. The wear indicator was grinding into the rotor and the left rear axle of the car. I got real upset first because I brought my car for the problem the first time and they said, it was fine except the front needed new brake pads and it was the rear brakes the whole time. Now, I'm wondering if my front brakes ever needed replacing. Second, I had to drive 45 miles to get it looked at since Louisville is the closest place to Fort Knox that had a Midas shop.
I paid $80 for the front brakes which I may not have needed, $116.38 for the rear brakes. Now, peep this; while putting back on the left side of the rear brakes Chi informed that I may need a new caliper. During the road test it noted that the caliper was bad, fine no problem. They put a new one on, the only problem is they ordered a loaded caliper from their parts vendor which took an hour plus to get there. The loaded caliper comes with everything including include brake pads; I already paid for brake pad anyway because my warranty is free replacement of brake pads. Thus, during the same day I was charged $174.33 this time for the bad caliper. I was there in that shop from 11:45 to 16:00 hrs. And you can see the money I spent for the problem.
Unknown how much of that expense could have been avoided if my problem was fixed the first time. I feel Midas owes me dearly.
As I was checking out the gentleman told me that it would be 21.00 for the "brake inspection". I have been a Midas customer since 1964. I took my 1987 Nissan 300ZX to the Midas shop for a routine muffler replacement (under "lifetime" warranty). I was told that a complete inspection would have to be performed, and an estimate of required repairs would be provided. In about fifteen minutes, the vehicle was put on the lift and I asked to see the underside. I was allowed to walk beneath the vehicle and while there, the technician advised that there was a crack in the exhaust manifold after which, he tapped on the pipe between the catalytic converter and the muffler with a flashlight, and advised that it would have to be replaced. The estimate was approximately $250.00.
I waited for the manager to discuss the tech's evaluation and was advised of the same analysis and told that they would not replace the muffler unless I had the pipe replaced as well. The technician advised that the car was just "old", and some noted oil on the underside of the motor was from "old age" and that the pipe had to be replaced even though there was no rust through, appeared perfectly sound, and the assessment was made with the end of a tapping flashlight. I felt as if there was an attempt to have me replace unnecessary parts for a significant cost before a "lifetime" warranty was honored.
The shop owner called me on the telephone to advise that my complaint to Midas had been referred to him, and he advised that policy prohibited honoring the warranty if other components were deemed necessary. He offered to "give" me the muffler with no continued warranty. I plan to take the vehicle to a dealership and have the exhaust system inspected and ask them to provide a written report which I intend to use in a possible lawsuit against Midas and this franchise.

Over the next 2 days I kept hearing a small sound in the left front (where the repair was done). Fortunately for me and for my life I decided to go back and let them look at it. I got about as far as Midas' fron door when I heard a huge grinding and tearing sound. I stopped in their parking lot and their mechanic looked at it. Midas refuses to honor their warranty on a muffler I bought in January 1999. The muffler has damaged baffles on the inside causing rattles. The warranty states, "You will not be charged for the new muffler, its clamps or the labor required to install them."
Midas supplied me with a written estimate charging for a tailpipe and labor. They are claiming the tail pipe needs replacing so therefore I should have to pay labor. However in the replacement of a muffler the tail pipe must be removed weather or not the tail pipe is replaced. In other words, there is no additional labor from replacing a tail pipe when replacing the muffler. The muffler is cut out and the old tail pipe is disgarded. I informed Midas I would pay for the tail pipe but no labor. This is after Midas attempted to charge me not only for the muffler, the clamps and labor.
They discarded the original estimate of $180.00. I said the muffler is covered so they changed it to $133. Then after much discussion they agreed to remove the clamps from the estimate along with some of the labor. However, I was still being charged $40 for labor. I then took the vehicle to another Midas franchise and they gave me an estimate of $132. This estimate included $75 in labor, $37 for tail pipe, and $18 in supplies. I inquired about the supplies and they said that included clamps and gas to cut the old one out. I then instructed them to return the vehicle to me and I left after receiving the estimate.
I plan on taking the car into the dealership and then entering a small claims court case against Midas. I feel I should only have to pay for the tail pipe and the gasket for the muffler. I disagree that the tailpip needs replaced. The muffler is damaged internally. It is common to replace a tail pipe when it can not be separated from the muffler due to corrosion. However, the muffler does not have large amounts of corrosion at the tail pipe muffler interface. The tail pipe in this case is probably salvageable.

I went into Midas to have my brakes replaced at the end of April, beginning of May of 2000. The mechanic replaced the brakes, the rotors and pads. About two weeks later I drove my car to Milwaukee. On the way back, the car started shaking and making noises. When I reached the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, my front left wheel detached from my car at highway speed and bounced across the lanes into incoming traffic.
I veered my car off to the side, trying to control the car that now did not have a front wheel. My car stopped inches from a metal guardrail. As I tried to fix the tire, a good samaritian stopped to help me. It was determined the lugnuts were missing and I would need a flat bed tow truck, which I ended up waiting two hours for on the side of the highway, alone, a female and at night.
I had the car towed to the first Midas I knew of in Evanston (my previous home) and left a note for the managers to call me. They in turn had the vehicle towed back to the Western location. I was called by the manager who apologized profusely saying they would handle all costs related to the damage because it was the mechanic's fault for not putting the tires back on correctly. So, they promised to put the tire back on and have the body work done (damage had occured to the fender when the wheel flew off).
I went to pick up my car and they didn't help me back it out of a tight spot wedged between two cars and a guardrail. And guess what happened. They all stood there and watched when they should have backed the car out for me. Consquently, the guardrail caught on my bumper and the bumper fell off. I had to get that fixed now too. After I picked up my car, weeks went by and the insurance company they promised to have call me, didn't. I kept calling the manager at least twice a week.
Not until I got my father involved and he called a regional manager, did something happen. I was told that I was supposed to have an estimate done (was not originally told this). I had the estimate done and as I dropped it off one of the employees told me that, "I didn't have to make so much trouble about this all and I shouldn't have involved my father." Basically threatening me and trying to intimidate me. I did receive the check in the amount of the estimate and have had the work done.
Everyone I spoke to said I should have sued them for endangering my life. If anything this mechanic should have been reprimended for his careless work. The fear I had waiting on the side of the road, yelled at by the towman for having kept my motor on ( in case someone came up to my car, I didn't want it to appear I wasn't paying attention) and paying out of my own pocket for the AAA towing charges.
I didn't charge Midas, because, yes, they did intimidate me and I don't want to ever deal with them again. I am a young, independent woman and I guess for the emotional impact I would have to say it upset me that I was someone seen as a non-threat to this company and picked on through intimidation. All I wanted was my car fixed for something that was THEIR fault and they acted like I inconvienced them and had already filed some sort of suit, which I probably should have.

Greg stated that after they did the transmission work the truck was not shifting right so I drove it and it was slipping very badly. When I returned to Midas Greg stated he would like to keep the vehicle another day, he wanted to make sure the service tech did not put the wrong filter in. Greg stated he would not want to put a new transmission in my truck.
I went ahead and left it overnight so they could correct the problem. I called Greg the next day and he told me the service tech placed the gasket on wrong and the vehicle was working fine. I returned to pick up my truck. I took it for a test drive and found the shifting problem was not corrected. When I spoke to John in Greg's absence he informed me the could not figure out what the problem was he also stated that nobody test-drove the vehicle before the transmission work was done.
He told me that they would need the vehicle one more day the problem needed to be resolved. So I left it for another day. I called Greg the next day he told me the problem was fixed and the truck was shifting good. I returned to pick up my vehicle. Greg told me it slipped a little but the last time they drove it, it was fine.
After three days of no answers I paid the bill and asked for a discount he gave me $45.00 off. The vehicle started slipping two days later. I have had two transmission houses look at my vehicle and have been quoted between $1800.00 to $2300.00 dollers to fix the problem. Both places stated the procedure that Midas uses is detrimental to transmissions.
Robert should sue Midas in Small Claims Court, assuming he can get a couple of mechanics from the other garages to testify as expert witnesses on his behalf.

Big O tires really messed my brakes up. They broke the rotors. After going back several times they replaced the rotors but the brakes still didn't seem quite right. I took my car, a 1991 Ford Festiva to Midas. The machanic took a look at the brakes and told me the rotors were put on backwards. I explained what a hard time I was having with my brakes. He advised me to get lifetime brake shoes. He told me that whenever they needed to be changed there would be no charge for the shoes. Having very little money I decided it would be worth it, even though I would have to sacrifice a lot of other things.
So Midas fixed the brakes and life was wonderful. About a year and a half after that the brakes were giving me trouble again. No problem -- into Midas I went and they brought my name up on the computer and fixed my brakes. This April I went to Midas and told them I needed my brakes looked at. I told them I had a lifetime warranty. The man said I would have to produce the paper that stated that. I told him that it should be in the computer.
He told me that they dump all the files after two years so if I didn't have the paper I was out of luck. Now I can't afford to buy new brake shoes and here's a company that turned on their own word.
I can't afford to get my car inspected because I know theres something wrong with the brakes. I'm scared to death that the brakes will fail and I have no other form of transportation.

I went to Midas in Ft. Wayne to have my 1990 blue Toyota 4-Runner worked on. I had front brake pads put on and the rotors turned and the brakes were cleaned inspected and adjusted. They are supposed to be the break experts. They had to send my rotors to a machine shop to have them turned. I told them I had a rear anti-lock brake light that was on. They supposedly fixed everything and all brake parts had been inspected.
The only thing that was not fixed was the anti-lock brake light. They told me I had to take it to a Toyota dealership to get it fixed. So I did. Evans Toyota Dealership fixed the anti-lock brake part and they inspected the work done on the front brakes. Their mechanic found "front caliper pins were wired in with mechanic's wire" So I had the dealership fix it because if these pins were to fall out my brake pads would fall off. So I did not want to take it back to Midas to have it fixed because on the way over my brake pads could have fallen off if that wire came out. The dealership charged me $53.64 to fix the problem.
I went to Midas today to get a refund for the work the dealership did ($53.64) and any charge of inspection done on the pads because they were paid to inspect everything and fix it. The manager at Midas told me that there is a law that prevents customers from going to another place and having work done to a vehicle and trying to get a refund. He said that I should have brought it to them to fix it. I did not want to bring it to them to fix if this is the kind of work that they do. Plus if my front brakes failed because of that then I could have been in an accident. I even showed them the billing of the work that Evans Toyota did and they would no believe me they said they don't even have mechanics wire. How do I know this?

I brought my car in to Midas for service and was told that I needed a major tune-up. I okayed Midas to work on the car. However weeks later the car broke down on me. I then had the car towed home and then to a mechanic who showed us the old parts that were listed as new on our invoice.
Fortunately the tech at Midas put the old part back on incorrectly which caused the car to break down and that led to the discovery of several old parts that were listed as new on the bill.
This is a matter that will require more than myself going to Midas and asking to be refunded for the total cost of the Major Tune-up, the total cost of all of my towing fees, as well as the total cost for the repair to the vehicle. There was also another mechanic who also determined the same problem.
