I had a blown brake line, which should be an easy job. Midas was available to work on the car and hey, they're supposed to be experts at brakes and mufflers. They turned what should have been a simple job into this monstrous affair where they replaced everything. Could not just repair the one blown line, had to do both. After they changed both brake lines they took the car out for a test drive and there were now NO brakes. Started over and replaced more things. They were sure they had it right after replacing rotors, brake pads, calipers, etc. I'm not kidding about what they put on the car, things that were completely unnecessary.
The next test drive had the calipers locking up. Who is working on these cars? What should have cost a few hundred at most was over $1200, and I will never go back. What was supposed to take part of an afternoon took over two days. We keep our car in pristine condition and work on our own cars when we can, so we're not idiots. This was something that should have been easy, and it feels like their whole goal was to increase their bill for their benefit, as though we were idiots. The technician stated afterwards, "We should have listened to you and just repaired that one brake line." We'll never go back. Please don't let this happen to you.

I was told by Pep Boys, during an inspection, that I was in need of brakes. I was not pleased with their service for the inspection and had no intention of letting them do my brakes. I usually take my car to the dealer, but I was short on time and couldn't get an appointment. On Sunday, August 21, 2022, I called and asked for an appointment. Rob, the manager, told me bring my car in that morning at 10:00 AM. I was attended to right away and I explained that I was told I needed brakes.
The mechanic had my car up on the rake in about five minutes. Shortly after, Rob asked me to join him in the garage. He asked who told me I needed brakes. I told him what Pep Boys told me. He and the mechanic (sorry, can't remember his name) told me my brakes were just fine. They showed me what to look for when the brakes go bad. They said I had another 10,000 miles to go before I needed this expensive repair job. I was almost in tears. It is easy to feel you are getting ripped off, especially as a woman. Rob said there was no way they would charge me for a service that was not needed. I will always take my car to Midas in King of Prussia (KOP) for service. I can't say enough good things about this experience.

New Midas Muffler shop on Rainier Renton WA. They charge me $90 for telling me I need a new a/c, he lifted the hood, say their pulley wobbling is new, it was bad when I got there and I had a oil light coming on. They charge $325 for testing oil pressure switch, told me they disconnected and installed a manual one and ran it to test, results need new one, total for repairs $2500. Too much. Called dealer for oil pressure switch and my truck does not have one. They did no testing, they lied to me, basically looked under hood and charged $425 and would have charged me $2500 if I would have took the service.

This took place in April 2021. My brake pads were worn and took them to Midas at 4876 Airway Rd, Dayton, OH 45431 to get them replaced on warranty. I also inquired about tires and ordered a set all around. I needed rotors in front and ordered them also. Chris agreed to do the work while I waited. A little while into the job, Chris calls me out to the shop and shows me that the calipers need replacing. The plungers are extended and he takes a compressing tool to prove to me they need replacing.
The ** uses the tool incorrectly and cannot compress the plungers. I told him to find a way to make them work and put them back on my car. He whined like a child and said, "I can't"! At this point, I should have told him to allow me to use the tool to compress the plungers but I didn't. I went ahead and agreed to have him put new calipers on the front. What I found out later was that he spray painted my originals with silver paint and put them on my car as though they were new.
Later on he calls me back out into the shop to show me he had broken a lug on the right front axle. I asked him what it would cost to fix that and he quotes me $550.00!!! I told him to get his tap and die out to fix the one he broke. He ends up mounting my new tires and I am out there watching him in the shop. My USAF logo valve caps are now missing so I asked him what happened. He fumbles for a minute, then looks in the container with the soapy solution they apply on the bead to help the tire seal on the rim once inflated. There he finds my valve caps.
Before I drove away, he had a bill accumulated to $1500.00+ I had to pay. I had just received a $1400.00 stimulus check from Uncle Slow Joe Biden and Chris was determined to get it all, plus some. I know the law says "Caveat Emptor", Buyer Beware. I was 66 years old when he did this. He bilked a senior citizen. I tried to call corporate and the phone rang and rang and rang for 37 minutes! Corporate is as useless as their stores! They will NEVER get any of my business EVER again.

My 2012 Nissan Murano just stopped running at a stop sign and white smoke was coming out of the hood compartment and the exhaust pipe. The car was towed to Midas in Nanuet. I called the shop to let them know the car was coming and I explained to Mike the situation and I told him the engine light was also on. After diagnostic Mike called me saying I need the following parts: radiator, alternator, battery and 4 tires. The total was $4,104. When I went to pick up the car, the engine light was one and the car started shaking. I brought it back to the shop.
After waiting for five days, a technician called me saying that I had to pay another $1500 to replace the spark plug and the coil, and he was trying to charge me for the alternator. According to him, that was the reason why the car was shaking. Mike corrected him and said the alternator was under warranty, but Mike asked me to pay $900 to get the coil and the spark plug replaced. DO NOT GO THERE. RIP OFF CITY.

**Major Mistake Trusting Midas Brand**
Major mistake taking my car to Midas Houston 3607 Westheimer Road - Service Manager - ** and Store Manager - **. This team under the Midas name do not stand by work and will not make things right when they make mistakes. I brought my car in with a P0420 and was told it was definitely 100% the front catalytic Converter. I paid $1811.73 for the repair. On my way home after the repair, the same code appeared. Management communicated to return to shop, because they must have forgot to reset code. Two additional trips back to Midas with the same code, I was told they now needed to replace the rear converter for an additional $1200.00.
When I asked why wasn't this found during the initial diagnosis I was told if not satisfied, I should take my car to another shop - Major Customer Service failure. When I reached out to another Midas shop and inquired about the P0420 code, they communicated that it meant that one of the converters was most likely bad. They also would need to check O2 sensor and other codes to be sure. I then asked if both converters could be bad with this code and he responded "No, there would be a different code". Based on this information, I paid for a front converter when the rear converter was bad. End result, I trusted the Midas name, my car is not fixed and I'm out $1811.73. Very disappointed in the Midas brand.

I made the mistake of taking my car to Midas as it was only a mile from where I live and working 7 days my schedule is really tight. The car had some electrical problems and I depend on it a lot for my work. They asked for $58 for diagnostics and I agreed, they checked it and said that it needs a new alternator, estimate was $750. They would not even deduct the $58 diagnostics cost from that. I really didn’t have the time to go and shop around and had no choice but to do it. I had a headlight that was out and asked them if they can just put a bulb, they wouldn’t even do this as they said it cost an extra $50…for a light bulb believe it or not. I said no thank you. I fixed the light bulb the next day for $15. I also found out that the alternator new with labor should not cost more than $350. I even wonder if I really need a new alternator. Rude, unfriendly and rip off artists. Stay as far as you can from Midas

He even looked me in the eye and told me that he would make sure that my car was locked, IT WASN'T LOCKED that night!! A week and a half later my car stops in heavy traffic w/ my elderly mother. We had to stand on the side of the highway for two hours for triple AAA to pick us up. Midas tells me $6,000 for a used engine.
Do not trust MIDAS to diagnose your vehicle and to fix it properly. No apology no refund. Both times that I went to Midas there were ants crawling out of the coffee creamer. On June 14, 2021, I brought my vehicle into this Midas location to have the front brake pads changed, 6689 Route 9 North, Howell, New Jersey 07731. Because I was the only customer in the shop, Fernando, the manager, consistently engaged me in conversation. He somehow managed to talk me into paying for two new front rotors. After reluctantly agreeing to this additional charge, Fernando talked me into having my brake and coolant fluids drained and replaced. I was skeptical about these ancillary charges but relented simply because I always had faith in the Midas name.
The next morning while driving, my vehicle’s temperature gauge suddenly shot up to high. At the same time, my check engine light became illuminated and my car began emitting an “emergency” sound. Trust me, if you heard it, you would immediately know that it was the sound of doom. Absolutely nothing good could come out of the vehicle making this stead5n. By then the anti-freeze had spewed all over the engine and smoke began rising up all over the place. I then called Fernando and he said that he’d send two of his employees right over to my location. He relayed to me how it would take two people to fix the problem, not just one.
Many hours later, when the two employees finally came to my location, they both told me that this problem was caused by the other employee who changed the fluids the day before. I am not a mechanic, but from what I gathered while they were fixing the problem, they said he had made a crucial mistake by allowing air bubbles to get inside the coolant. When air gets into this sealed system, air pockets can form and cause blockages, which can lead to bubbling and overheating.
Both of the employees were very professional and were exceedingly apologetic. They emphasized repeatedly that this problem should never have happened. They insisted that I should have my money refunded as it was 100 percent Midas’ fault for hiring an inexperienced and careless worker. The both of them were there fixing the problem for two to three hours. They told me this is how long it generally takes to have all of the air bubbles removed from the coolant once air gets into it. Before they left, they refilled the anti-freeze and then gave me the container with the remaining coolant. I only have adulation for these two employees, but only contempt for Midas for negligently hiring an inept, unqualified employee.

Two weeks ago my ac stopped working. They said it was very expensive job I needed. I told them I would bring it back. Google my problem. Ends up it was a sensor you can buy for twenty two bucks. On 10/31/20 I took my vehicle to the Midas Muffler & Brake located at 7220 East 22nd Street for an oil change and I left the car to be serviced. I was called later by the shop Manager (** and was told that I needed some additional work as they had performed a free safety inspection. It was noted on the inspection sheet that the thermostat housing was seeping and possibly the water pump could be leaking along with some suspension parts that needed replacement. The technician recommended a pressure system check to verify the leak. I did not have the finances for this extra cost at this time. ** explained to me about the financing program (Easy Pay) which I took an application with me and completed it at home the same day. I was approved for $900 so I called ** and let him know that I wanted to do the work now that I was approved.
I returned on Monday, Nov, 3rd to have the services performed. The vehicle was suppose to be completed the same day but I was told that a fuse was blown and that the part would not be in until the next day. I picked up the vehicle on 11/4/20 around Noon. Early the next morning I noticed green fluid underneath my car. I called my Dad to ask him what it could be. I also told him about the services I had done the day before. He told me to call the shop and explain to them what I had encountered. ** told me to bring the car in as soon as possible. I took the car in that morning and was told later that afternoon that I needed a thermostat and possibly the housing unit because of leaks. I called my dad again who spoke to **.
Since my father has managed a major corporate automotive shop for 15 years, he asked ** why they didn’t replace the thermostat when they did the water pump as a preventative maintenance item. ** told him that I could go to Autozone and purchase the thermostat and they would install it for free. I returned to Midas with the thermostat only to learn that it didn’t come with a gasket. I called my father again who spoke with ** and told him specifically to install their own thermostat and the housing if needed. He wanted the car fixed. I picked up the vehicle almost before they closed and drove home the same day.
About 2 weeks later my car starts overheating while I’m driving with my boyfriend. I immediately pull into a QT gas station and call my father who told me and my boyfriend what to do. The next day I bring it back in and after 5 hours I call the manager ** and he told me that they had been running the car all morning and it had barely started overheating but he believes its the thermostat. I'm not trusting them with my car anymore at this point since my father told ** specifically to replace the thermostat and housing if needed. I called my dad again who at this point was not happy that they never replaced the thermostat or the housing as he had requested, they only replaced the water outlet housing gasket and thermostat gasket. He asked ** for the district manager’s contact information and to his surprise was told that that information cannot be given to customers. He would have to contact the district manager and give him the message.
The district manager arranges for me to take the car to another Midas on Speedway. He told my father that he would personally inspect the car himself and diagnose the problem. My father was told by Thomas (the speedway Midas manager) that the DM did not look at the car because he was busy all morning on calls but they had replaced the thermostat. About 4 days later my car starts overheating again. I bring it back to the Midas on Speedway that did my thermostat. My dad gets a call on Monday from Thomas and they tell him that the head gasket is blown. I pay for it to get towed to my house and try figuring out a solution with the district manager but he was only willing to do the labor for free and has since been nonresponsive.
I end up paying for another tow to a different mechanic for another opinion. He confirms my head gasket is blown but they were unwilling to work on it and shared any other shop would say the same since the engine has a lot of miles and it's an older car. So, I came in for an oil change and now have a car that I can't even drive and a $900 financing bill that I owe for the bad repairs. I have endured 3 tows not to mention my time lost disputing the work. The subpar work that was performed by Midas is a direct cause of my car overheating which resulted in the blown head gasket. Here are the facts.
- I had green fluid on the ground the next day after the water pump was replaced proves that they did not perform the work properly.- My dad told them to replace the thermostat and housing based on their own diagnosis and they didn’t do that. They only replaced the gaskets.
- The 22nd street location told me they replaced a power steering hose that was leaking at no charge and some fuse at no charge. No documentation indicates that this work was done as I did not get a receipt even though it was done at no charge.
- The Speedway location diagnosed the overheating issue and replaced the thermostat at no charge. Again no documentation indicates the diagnosis or the recommendation as I did not get a receipt even though it was done at no charge.
- The district manager admitted to my father that they should have replaced the thermostat when they replaced the water pump. That’s why he sent me to the Speedway location.
In closing, Midas has not admitted to their liability but offered to do the labor for free if I purchased the parts. This is a direct cause of their poor workmanship which resulted in my car being ruined. After taking my car back to Midas 5 times, I would never have them do internal engine repairs when they could not perform the proper diagnosis and replacement of a water pump.

This is simply the WORST business practice and management I have EVER experienced. Right from the initial poor quality workmanship to the SEVERE lack of customer service. Long story short, I visited Midas St. Anne's in January 2020 for exhaust and muffler work, which I very much regret. I trusted them with their initial assessment that my catalytic converters needed replacing. Since, I have had many other second opinions and am now the wiser that these RARELY need replacing. My total expense for a simple muffler/exhaust repair was $2000! I was definitely was taken advantage of and gouged.
5000km later, I am driving and find myself without power steering and smoke fuming from my car hood. Thank goodness I was not in an accident! I take my vehicle to my local mechanic who has serviced my vehicle my entire adult life; great guy, completely trustworthy and always goes up and beyond. I am utterly disgusted with what was found. My power steering and low pressure hoses were burnt from cheap after market converters that Midas installed and incorrectly positioned too close to my hoses (photo 1). And in addition, Midas caused damaged two underbody parts that had NOTHING TO EVEN do with the muffler and exhaust system: the solenoid starter (photo 2) and the bracket (photo 3).
There is direct cause and effect evidence here. Yet somehow, the store manager Sonny ** choses to disregard it all and seems to think this quality of work is acceptable. They are not taking responsibility whatsoever. Sonny tried blaming the burnt hoses as "common issues" for my car type. Yet, in the 8 years of owning the vehicle I had never had an issue until after the converters were incorrectly replaced and better still, my two sisters who each have the same car have never had this issue either. Sonny also had a different explanation for all said defects depending on whom he was talking to: my mechanic or myself. Some of his reasoning was just not even plausible. Instead, he gave an estimated quote of another $4000 to have all this repaired to ideal standards.
Shame on you Midas. Let us put this into perspective - how would you feel if this happened to one of your family members or loved ones and the company responsible failed to take ownership? As a professional in the realm of a business, I know mistakes happen. But TRUE professionals admit and take ownership for their mistakes, right the wrongs, and compensate the client. Being handicapped and unable to get under a car anymore, I could not look to determine where the leak was coming from. I also was very skeptical that this cooler line could start a leak from 1.4 miles of driving from Midas to my home.
On 9/3/20 the battery failed. I took the car to Firestone in West Bloomfield for a new battery. I asked them to check the lower transmission cooling line for a leak. There was one, just like the picture in the Midas inspection report texted on my phone. They showed me the leak and the cooler line was loose, unseated backed out several turns from a secure position (see pic). I asked if he could possibly try some ATV and tighten it. The technician informed me it could be cross threaded and may not help repair the leak. But it easily tightened back into the proper location. I asked him if he could clean up the oil before I drove it home. I drive this car daily (3 weeks now) with no leaks on my garage floor, parked in the exact spot where I had my first oil leak after driving home from Midas in West Bloomfield after the repairs they performed.
I have documentation, a receipt for the battery replacement, cooler line tightening to the proper fit (no charge), and Firestone technicians very happy to have me include their place of business anywhere I choose to post or report this $940 unneeded repair. It was a simple scam to get more money. Midas claims the car is old and repairs and inspection were honest. My documentation and daily use of the vehicle proves they are not trustworthy with my car and the repair was not required. I became irate on the phone 9/8/20 that he would calmly said this Midas facility was an honest repair facility when I have proof of the $940 unneeded repair. A $940 service fee from Midas in West Bloomfield to replace the transmission cooler lines, flush the cooler and replace the fluid, THAT WAS NOT REQUIRED. Be very careful doing business with Midas in West Bloomfield.

I came back to Midas with one last chance to fix my muffler properly so that I wouldn't be returning every 2 years for the same problem. Luckily, this time I was directed to the other Kingston location with whom I spoke to Brad, he and the mechanic Nick have completely restored my faith in midas and I will without question return to them for any further work my car, or friends or families need done that we just don't have the time or patience to deal with.
Brad worked with me every step of the way, even helping with my budget and providing the best possible prices and options for what my car needed. Nick went above and beyond with the repairs to my car, doing a full break inspection while we waited for my friend to arrive with another opinion. Any and all repairs were absolutely necessary and explained in great detail, additional services were also provided to help offset the cost and make a customer satisfied and for the first time, happy with the repairs made to my vehicle by Midas on Gardiner's road in Kingston Ontario. Thank you, sincerely, Brad and Nick for restoring my faith in Midas and making this a smooth transaction on all behalfs.

I took my 2009 Cadillac to Midas, towed there because it wouldn’t start. They replaced the fuel pump and relay for $935. When I went to pick it up, it wouldn’t start. They played with the relay and it started and they sent me on my way. The following day, 40 miles from home it died while driving with the same problem as before. I had it towed to the Midas in Tacoma, 5 miles away. Found a ride home. The relay was burned and replaced by the Tacoma Midas. No indication that the fuel pump needed to be replaced but the relay which they said they replaced ($42 for the part) was replaced in Tacoma. They didn’t really care about the trouble, took no responsibility for the car breaking down with the same symptoms within 24 hours of their working on it with the same problem. They didn’t offer any refund or monetary compensation for their failure to fix the problem. I will not take my vehicles to Midas again. Paid Tacoma Midas $192 to replace relay.

I ok’d the tune up. When I got my car back it ran worse & my wiper still did not work. I was told twice before I brought my car home the wiper bud was fixed. It wasn’t. My brake lights are still on. When took back, they kept overnight again, telling me new stuff was wrong with it. I bought new wiper buds, they were too big. Midas took off my original ones & never put them back on. They tried to tell me they missed something in the first $800, they took from me. They sent me home in a car that has no way to clean my windshield, with brake lights still on.
Told my husband over the phone before we paid $230 more to fix the new problem, that if we didn’t like it, they’d just pull it out front & we can come get it. RUDE! Would not face us when we went to pick up my car. They wanted over $300 more for other stuff they claimed was wrong. They sent me home in an unsafe car. He and the mechanic who serviced my vehicle were a professional team who provided quality service. They changed the oil, installed new wiper blades and showed me it was better to not rotate my tires at this time since the rear tires were newer than the front ones. They also pointed out unusual brake wear on one wheel and provided an estimate. I will have that work done in the near future. Overall Andy was a very impressive young man. Midas scam at 547 Gardiners RD Kingston Ontario. November 26 2019, I took my truck in to Midas Kingston to have the oil changed and the brakes checked. ** asked me to follow her to my truck. It was on the hoist with the wheels off. She said that the calipers where rusted and not working. This truck has 66,000 km on it. ** said the back brakes were not working at all and the calipers were seized. They could tell all this with just wheels off and the calipers still on the truck. Why I said fix I don't know.
** then said the brake fluid should be flushed, I said no. I have been driving for over 50 years and have replaced one caliper in all that time. ** called me over to pay the bill $2155.61. Included in the bill was $99.99 for total brake flush and bleed and $99.00 for brake pads that they were advertising on tv as free. I paid the bill and headed home. Once I hit the highway it had a bad vibration in the back. I called her immediately. She said to bring it back in. She came over to tell me the front calipers were seized. I said, "Get it down and let me get out of there."
I went home and wrote a review on their web page that never got put on the page because if you notice there are 95 reviews on it all 5 stars. Two day later the ** (GM) called and said bring it so they can make right. I took it in and the vibration was a broken belt in the back wheel (they did this because it was fine when I took it in). He said he would give a good deal on a new tire. When they were done the bill was $517.53. He said they changed both back tires because you can't mismatch them.
Now really --ssed off I left for home once on the highway I have a vibration in the back. Can you believe this place. This truck is so bad now I don't want it anymore. Oh yeah the brakes squeal when I stop now. If they had their way they would have changed all rotors, brake pads and all calipers and all 4 tires. DON'T GO TO MIDAS.

$2.2k to fix one windshield wiper, yes, one windshield wiper. The wiper was not FULLY touching the glass, the motor and the linkage were fine. DO NOT TRUST MIDAS and drop off your car to get fixed without doing the following: take a video of the issue; be there in person to watch the diagnostic/review of the situation; DO NOT AGREE TO ANYTHING OVER THE PHONE. Even corporate advised to get an invoice emailed and review the estimate of charges before discussing potential fixes.
More backstory: We dropped off our car to fix a simple issue -- the BLADE on the windshield wiper on the driver's side was not fully touching the glass. My husband wanted to wait to explain the issue, the manager told him to just leave the car there. Trust = our first mistake. Manager called and claimed that the car was broken in areas that it was not -- the motor worked fine as the blade was moving. They claimed that the other wiper was no longer working when it was when we dropped off the car. I believe that they caused an electrical issue when "tinkering" with our car and created a compound issue. It's not a Honda, though the manager claimed that he was experienced with fixing our car. Lies, lies and more lies.
They charged us to "fix" it, without sending an invoice to review the terms beforehand. Husband denied the issue and the charges. Called corporate to contest. Corporate requested an invoice be emailed. According to corporate, invoice was written incorrectly. It was unclear whether any work had been performed. Corporate had to call to resolve. Manager lied and said the car was fixed. Husband picked it up and the blade of the driver's side windshield wiper was still not touching the glass. This was the issue we brought the car in for. After they broke the car, they never even fixed the issue for why it was brought in. The audacity.
Called again to receive an additional invoice after more "work" had taken place -- I wanted to know how much they were going to charge to replace the windshield wiper. Manager claimed that he could not email an invoice (he said he did not have the power/capable to do so), when another team member, who reports to him, had done this before. When I mentioned this, the manager then claimed the internet was not working. This, again, was a request from corporate. Why is the manager denying the consumer a receipt? Bogus.
When I asked to speak to a supervisor, he denied me, a woman, the opportunity. He laughed, taunted and stated that he wouldn't "bother his supervisor" about my request. He also told me that the calls are not monitored; though, legally, they should be if they are discussing pricing and confirmations over the phone. He hung up. Repulsive. What type of company hires a person to lead a team that treats customers this way? Is it because I am a woman? Was that the reason why my request to speak to his superior was denied? Or, is it because I am smart enough to question and see through the scam he is tasked with operating here. Very, very suspect.
I am not sure if the company is trying to meet numbers toward the end of the year, but the manager is a liar and is operating a scam. We will never take our cars to get serviced there again. Have yet to hear from a supervisor or the franchise owner, so you can bet that this type of treatment is condoned by leadership. I should have taken our car to the dealership; I am confident that they would have diagnosed the issue correctly and the fees would not have been nearly as steep. Plus, they would have washed the car and that is always a plus.

On Saturday November 9th I attended my appointment at Midas Newmarket (1-1095 Ringwell Dr) to have the winter tires change over on my vehicle. Not too long after dropping my vehicle off, I received a voicemail from Steve advising that there was an issue regarding the wheel lock key breaking and that I would need to take the vehicle to the dealership to get a new wheel lock. When I called Steve back, he advised me the nut broke and it was stuck. He told me that I would have to my vehicle to the dealership to have it fix. Before I went to collect my vehicle, I called the dealership and they advised that it would cost $164 to remove the broken wheel lock where the key broke inside it and $20 to replace the key.
When I went to collect my vehicle from the shop, I told Steve about the dealership costs associated and he advised me that it's not their responsibility. I advised him that my vehicle was left in his care and custody, who then broke the wheel lock. He kept reiterating that it's not his responsible and tried everything to get me to take my vehicle and leave the premises. I asked to speak with the owner and I was told I would have to come back Monday.
I took my vehicle to the dealership and they advised that the mechanic most likely used an impact wrench versus doing it by hand. They advised this part does not break easily and if they did do it by hand, they would have found it was too tight. The Midas mechanic then should have advised me regarding the situation. When mechanics use the impact wrench, there is no gauge if the nut is tight or not. Thankfully, the dealership didn’t charge me the full estimate value they quoted me when I called and only charged me $92.
On Monday November 11, I called the owner Kamal and explained the situation. He offered me a store credit, but when I advised him that I am not comfortable with taking my vehicle back to the shop, he said ok leave it with him and he will speak with the shop manager Steve and would get back to me. Kamal called me on Tuesday November 12 to advise me that he spoke with the shop manager Steve and then told me the same thing that I was told previously, that “It's not their fault the lock broke and that they are not responsible” and then offered me the store credit again.
I explained given my experience that I would not be taking my vehicle back to the shop and all I was looking for was the reimbursement of the dealership's labour costs ($92) and not even the replacement key ($20). He said the store credit is all that they could do. I left my vehicle in their care and custody and the shop failed to communicate prior to the nut breaking or that it was tight. The mechanic was neglectful in his actions and offering a store credit is selfishly trying to secure my business which I was clear that I would not revisit this shop.

Dawn **. 1 review. 9 minutes ago. I am only giving a one star because I cannot rate a zero. My experience with Midas was the worst EVER. How can a supposedly “reputable” business take advantage of clients the way that they do and get away with it! My vehicle was taken to them on October 5th and just returned on the 11th of October. According to Midas I needed a rear Axle and then of course I needed a rear differential. My Axle repair was approved and paid for by my warranty company and due to the delay for the adjuster's report to be reviewed I decided to pay out of pocket my the differential. My Husband was quoted it would be an additional $650.00 charge to replace the differential.
We were advised the vehicle would be ready for pick up at 4 on the 11th. Upon arriving we were presented with a bill for over $1000.00??? What happened to the $650 original quote? And they love to play the game of well “Don the manager is not here and I am just the middle man.” You work for Midas don’t you? And miscommunication amongst the staff is not the paying consumer's affair.
Upon driving my vehicle the next morning... why am I not surprised that the vehicle is still handling the exact same way prior to me taking my car in for service. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and the Bureau of Automotive Repair. This is a major inconvenience and is taking up valuable time but this is unacceptable business practices. At my discretion I am demanding immediate response and resolution to avoid any further action taken against Midas. This is so dishonest. I cannot believe that get away with this time and time again! I will be having my vehicle inspected to confirm what repairs were or were not completed by Midas. Do not go to them and if you do and have received satisfactory service then maybe this is a deeper matter that needs to be investigated. All consumers should receive equal service!
UPDATE!!! Went to Midas to express concerns about the horrible experience... Midas’ exact words to my husband “Honda sent them defected parts and the rear shocks exploded.” I have a family with children that I drive in this vehicle on a daily basis! This is unacceptable. And then they tell my Husband that “he has to drive to Westchester to pick up the needed parts to correct this issue!!!”. Unacceptable! Now Westchester does not have the parts needed so I am back at square one...an unsafe vehicle that cannot be driven and lousy assistance from Midas! So now my complaints will be filed against Midas and Honda. How does this happen and why would not one person who “specializes” in repairing vehicles not be able to identify faulty parts??? Flabbergasted at this situation. I won’t hold my breath to hear from a Midas supervisor. I will be taking matters into my own hands!

Was told it was a pulley, then 2 pulleys. Replaced both and said the screech was much better now/quieter but said spring/tensioner must be bad. They said the pulleys are bad though. They said they can't get off parts (can't turn bolts) to get at that part (for some reason) and would have to cut it all apart, replace water pump etc. to get at fixing that problem. I said, "No, if it's even better I'll wait." Paid the bill. Went out to vehicle. Noise is 10 times worse. I couldn't believe it. Dropped off at another mechanic right now with the 2 pulleys I got which they were reluctant to give at first and had to "find" them. I've been upset with this place for months but are still giving them chances. 3 chances and all have been horrible experiences! Every single one! I've spent over $1000 dollars in 3 trips and according to them there is something new "wrong" every time I go in. Although they've done inspections and oil changes and never said one thing about the torn wipe which they checked as ok, well that is not true. Its have missing and flips and flops when it's turned on. Although that is the least of my worries. I took my car in because the engine light was on and it kept dying saying reduced power. That was in Feb. They said there is nothing they can find with the engine. They did say that the DRIVER'S Hub assembly needs replaced, which I agreed because it was making a noise.
Took it back a few weeks later. Dropped it off and walked to a restaurant. I was told a few hours. As we are eating I got a call from Brandon and he explained that my tie rods were really bad and that was more important to fix (as I couldn't afford both). I told him okay fix that and I would come back to do the Driver's side hub assembly. A few weeks later I took it back to have the DRIVER'S side hub assembly and all of a sudden I needed rack and pinion and what goes along with that . Because it was more important and needed it worse. After 3 visits they never once mentioned to me that these are worn or bad or need replaced. Very reluctantly said ok. now I've spent $1000 after 4 visits and the DRIVER'S side hub still isn't fixed.
Fast forward a month and a half. I take it back to have the DRIVER'S side hub assembly replaced. I arrived at 6:45am as the store opens at 7. I've made an appointment for my second visit and was told by Mark the manager after waiting 2 extra hours that appointments don't even matter because it doesn't really make a difference with appointments or not. So we arrive at 6:45 am so to be first in line. When we arrived we went in and Mark the manager was there. I asked him if Jonah the lady that handles financing would be there as I had paper work to sign. He said she would be and said to replace the DRIVER'S side hub would be 1 hour to 1 in a half hours. So from 7 an hour and a half would be 8:30 for the 1 and half hour range. We again went and ate and returned at 8 to see my car wasn't even taken back yet.
I said, "My car is already ready?" Mark said, "No it's not been taken back yet however there are 3 cars in the tlls being worked on." I was understandably upset. He said well this guy is sick and this guy called in and when AJ gets there he will have him do it. He then informed me that Jonah would not be able to get there until 10. Ok, remember I'm suppose to be out of there around 8:30. As I'm venting my frustration with him about all I've been through with this place, he informs me that Jonah doesn't need to be here, we could handle it with her over the phone. I asked him why he didn't tell me that from the beginning and that was just more upsetting to me when he said she won't be here.
I agreed to wait after he said the latest for my would be 10am. That is twice as long as I was told when arriving. So they pulled my car in and started working on it. I could only see a small part of my car as it was being worked on. But I could see the DRIVER'S side front tire which was what they were suppose to be working on the DRIVER'S side hub assembly. Mark the manager went out and came back in and I asked, "You guys are replacing the DRIVER'S side hub like we agree on this morning correct?" He said, "Oh NO. We are doing the passenger's side, it is worse!" Well to say the least I was upset. So after 3 visits to fix the DRIVER'S side hub it still ain't done. But they've managed to fix all the other crap they never said anything about. As a single disabled mom with 2 disabled daughters I feel taken advantage of. DO NOT GO HERE.

I, unfortunately, had to go back recently because the new starter that I overpaid for was actually a piece of garbage. Rebuilt one and didn't belong in my car and also didn't work! To my relief, there was a new manager. The old one Mike was a thief and a liar and had ruined my car. My beloved vehicle, that I always had maintained by top mechanics as needed, was now being towed back to Midas on a regular basis. I was told by the Mgr, that the tech working on my car was a "master tech" and the technician also confirmed it to me. They were both liars.
Anyway, the new Mgr. Kerry, had the "new" (one can only hope) replacement starter was installed. Since then, it's been all downhill. I came back to have an exhaust noise repaired and left. My engine light immediately came on and when I told them, they said they had nothing to do with it. Of course, they did. I was upset. I went back to tell the mgr and the tech Brian (her husband) and they insisted it wasn't them. Every time I went to them for anything done, my wait time, while the car was being worked on/serviced was 3 1/2 hours.
I recently had my AC recharged with an appointment naturally and first thing in the morning, Bam, 3 1/2 hours again. What was worse, was after Brian charged my AC, NOW ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON! According to them, again, "they had nothing to do with it." They had everything to do with it. I made an appointment to have it diagnosed and they charged me for that too. They have been taking advantage of a single, middle-aged woman just like the previous manager did. I heard he was fired and the tech who had previously worked on my vehicle, who was fired, and never a master tech, was murdered. I want restitution and by that, I mean having my car repaired and all of those lights on the dash off and my vehicle running great.

They charge me for 2 hours of labor at 139.04, 3 hangers for 23.97, 4 ft. of pipe for 23.96 and one muffler at 69.99. I took my car in for an inspection and they failed it claiming that the left rear rotor was "rotted." They gave me a price for the inspection and repair and proceeded as if I had no choice but to pay them. Fortunately, I had had the rear brakes/rotors replaced less than a year ago by my regular mechanic so I told Midas not to do anything. I then took my car to my regular mechanic. They put it up on the lift, more than one mechanic there inspected the brakes/rotors, and they both assured me that the brakes/rotors were like almost new.
Another mechanic (not an employee of my mechanic) happened to stop in while I was there. He looked at the pictures that my mechanic had taken and, without knowing anything about what was going on, said that they looked perfectly fine. He also looked at the pictures that Midas had sent me and said that there was no way that those were pictures of my rotors. I have been going to my mechanic for 20+ years and trust them completely. I only went to Midas for the inspection because their location was convenient to my work. I won't make that mistake again!

Purchased muffler online, was installed poorly by local vendor. Willing to pay high anticipated price to get it done right by muffler professionals. So wrong. Rattled, probably due to missing rubber hanger. Was told "Don't stock length you require." Really - muffler shop does not stock hangers? Left shop, and just barely avoided hitting car in front of me at 1st stop light - foot to floor, nearly zero breaks. Went back to be informed that break line was rusted, and "just by coincidence" it failed at the same time they did their work.
Stuck there without breaks, I accepted their offer of free break line - short spliced piece - but would have to pay for labor. Then they pointed out break pads were worn, and routers in poor shape, recommending I deal with those issue at the same time. Turns out I was lied to about availability, in favor of them selling me parts from vendor of their choice, at what I discovered by going online was grossly overpriced junk! New rotors rusted within a single day.
When starting to leave the shop, I noticed emergency brake light was on. I stopped, and confirmed it was released. They did something, and suggested I was good to go. But checking the emergency brake, it was very loose, and didn't hold very well. When I pointed this out, they said those issues had nothing to do with what they did, and it would be too much work to disassemble the consul to fix. (Knowing what I've learned since, I believe they failed to use the proper tool required by Honda to compress the caliper and rotate it at the same, damaging my emergency break due to its being attached to the calipers in the rear of the car.)
Things have gotten worse: A few thousand (easy, highway driving for the most part) miles later, pads are all but completely worn out - one wheel having just gotten to the "metal to metal" point! Something was not installed correctly! Additionally, due to a severe winter pothole, I discovered that when they put my wheels back on, the passenger side had the front and rear wheels mixed - different sized tires on my rear wheel drive high-end performance vehicle were backwards! They put the wide rear tire in the front; the narrow one to the rear! (One could argue I should have noticed, but I drive very conservatively during the winter, and overall nothing has felt or sounded right from the minute I first started dealing with Midas.) I sincerely suggest avoiding them. This experience was with their Quaker Road, Queensbury, NY location.

This review is for Midas on Southland Drive in Lexington, KY. BEWARE!!! Called this location to get an estimate on having my exhaust system replaced. Was told that they could beat me out of town estimate by $300-$400. When I called to make an appointment I was told this was not true by a different employee. However, he said he could give me a better idea if he could look at the vehicle. I was leaving town that weekend so scheduled an appointment and stated I would drop the car off the night before. I told them that I was going out of town, but they could call me after looking at the vehicle to give me the estimate. I stated that no work was to be done because I had a third location I wanted to get an estimate from.
I did not hear from them the next morning as agreed upon, but I thought that they may have gotten busy with customers that were actually having work done, so I waited until the next day. When I did get in touch with them I was informed that not only had they performed the work that they were NEVER authorized to do, but now there was additional damage that the first repair shop had inspected and saw no signs of failure. I told them I was NOT paying them for work that was not authorized. I wanted them to repair the new damage (who says they didn't do it?), and to waive the labor on the work that was done without my authorization.
This would be reasonable to most people, but not here. They refused and continued to hold my vehicle hostage. I then went higher up and that manager withdrew the repairs for the new damage and stated I had to pay full cost of the repairs. I was finally able to get the labor waived and paid just parts, but should not have had to do any of this since they did all this without my consent. The cost to me was more than I paid for the vehicle. Had the estimate come back that high I would NEVER have gotten work done and would have looked into trading it in. These people are liars, crooks, bullies, and extortionists.
I filed a claim with the BBB of KY and the store ignored it. Judging by other reviews on here I can see they don't care. So now I'm going to go on a social media campaign, contact local media, and file a claim with the State Attorney General. If nothing comes from this, I will hire an attorney and sue the company and the two managers individually. This place was a nightmare. It started when my car wouldn't start sometime back in January. The car made some rapid clicking noises. I don't know much about cars, so I thought it might be the battery. The girlfriend and I jumped it and it started, so we figured that must be it. We were living somewhere in Pennsylvania at that time so we took it to a mechanic there and had the battery replaced. The car worked fine for three months. Three months later we were moving back to Michigan. I of course drove my car. We stopped at a hotel on the PA/Ohio border. I tried to start my car, and it wouldn't start. I thought maybe the AAA battery we had gotten was bad. We jumped it and made it back to Michigan without turning off the car.
When we finally got home, the car wouldn't start at all. I called a tow truck and took it to Midas because my girlfriend said it was a good mechanic place. She was wrong. Midas ran some tests on the car. They tested the starter, the alternator and they asked if I wanted an electronics test, so I said go ahead. They did NOT complete that test. All of the tests came back fine. One of the mechanics determined it was the battery in my key fob. I told him there was no way it could be that after I had described the events leading up to it. He assured me it was, and he started the car a few times to "prove" it. It started. I said alright and picked up the car. I got a couple miles down the road to return the alternator I had bought (because family was saying it was probably that.) I got back in the car and... it wouldn't start.
I called up Midas and the mechanic came down, showed me the slip that the two tests they had completed show everything was fine. He banged on the starter and the car started. So he determined it was the starter. I bought a starter from a shop and took it to them the next day. They replaced the starter to the tune of $272.50 labor. The starter itself from some shop cost $144.99 plus the core, which I returned after the starter was replaced. The car worked for about two weeks (I only drove it once, though, to Ann Arbor, which is about a 3.5 hour round trip).
I called up Midas and they said to bring it in again, so I had it towed to them again. They informed me they were having a crisis and a few of their employees and managers or something had just quit, so the district or regional manager was there. He did a cursory look and said the starter was bad and sometimes cheap parts from China just don't work out of the box, and not to worry because they would replace it for free. I brought the new starter to them the next day. That day, he told me I would have to pay to have it replaced. I was irritated at this point but he kept insisting he never said it would be free to replace it and then he yelled at me because I was being slightly snarky.
I took the "defective" starter back to the shop. They tested the starter and said it was perfectly fine. I took it back to Midas where the d. manager tested it again and said it was bad. I told him to test the new one, too, which he did. He said it was bad. The d. manager from Midas had used a battery charger to test both new starters. So we took both starters back to the store, he followed in his car, and we tested both starters. Both were just fine. He said ok. I returned the new starter and he took the old new one back and put it in. He FINALLY did some investigating instead of just assuming it was high ticket items and found it was simply a ground wire that was bad. It was possible I didn't need to replace the starter at all and could have saved several hundred dollars. At least he didn't charge me for the ground wire.
When I finally got my car back, I turned it on and found the radio no longer worked at all. The d. manager said they would take care of it. I went in and talked to the new manager of the store and he said they didn't have time to look at it today. I told him they weren't finished with my job, seeing as though they made my radio no longer work. He said, "That's not how it works, all these people had been waiting." But I again insisted that I was also waiting, and my car wasn't finished. He had the audacity to say then "how do I know the radio even worked before you brought it in?" I lost it and cursed at him, saying "are you ** kidding me?" He demanded I leave and I told him no, not until they fix the problem they caused.
Eventually he had some mechanic come out and look at some fuses, but found no issue. The manager said I could leave the car there overnight if I wanted and maybe they'd look at it in the morning. I said "fine". The next day, around 2 pm I stopped by to see how things were going. He was finally looking at the car and said he got the radio to work, but the display no longer worked. I again let him know it was working before I brought it to Midas. He said there was nothing he could do and he had called a Mitsubishi dealership and they told him there was no way that could have happened. Well, it obviously did. Anyway, I had the hood of my car open and I found that Midas had also broken the little clip that holds the rod that holds the hood open. The manager did the same spiel "how do I know the clip wasn't broken before you brought it in." The manager did offer to pay for THAT himself because it was about a dollar.
Later I also found the air intake clips were missing. Anyway, long story short, they screwed up several times on the diagnosis. Made me buy a starter and pay for installation. Found it may not have even been a starter issue because, oh, it was actually a ground wire. Midas broke my radio and refused to take responsibility and refused to fix it (it's still broken). They also broke the clip under the hood of my car and took the air intake clips. It was an absolute nightmare. I will NEVER go to Midas again and you probably shouldn't, either.

I asked about it and the only explanation is that they said I didn’t want it. So they repaired what they wanted, not what I asked. I contacted the company. They did their research and determine that I was right and they were willing to cut the price of the repairs so I would get a discount. I was also told that if I brought it in right away I could get it out in 2 days. Well the 2 day wait is now going to be a week.
They said they are having trouble finding the right part so I’ll have to wait. I told them to put my car back together and they said no! This is Sunday. I’m going to asked the police to help me get my car Monday repaired or not. This whole episode has taken a month and it’s still no end in sight. The supervisor lied to me. Told me about the repairs problem I was having around 2 hours after I called and left an extra phone number. The supervisor repeated what was said to him by the employee that I didn’t want that part of my car repaired which is ridiculous because the rear end is all I wanted and they gave me one windshield wiper and fixed the horn and tuneup. They did want they wanted.
I asked them to take the unwanted repair work off and do the job, they refused me so I got the regional manager. He did his research found out that the repairs that were made had already been done earlier this year so the firm was ripping me off. They said I couldn’t get the real repair job done for free but I could get a $100 dollars discount towards the repairs that I originally asked for. The repair work was $999. $1400 all total with tax. How can I be held responsible for knowing the exact part to fix, I told them what was going on. They said they’d fix it, they didn’t and I had the money for the repairs but they lied and deceived me. Did the repairs they wanted then told me I could get the right repair if I spent a total of $2400 to complete my repairs. They were sympathetic but no makeup repairs without extra money.
They knew exactly what was wrong with my car because I drove one of the mechanics to my home in my car and pointed my problem out specifically and was told by them I needed a rear end. He drove my car back to Midas that evening. Next day I realized they did everything but the one I asked for. One of the employees that works on cars drove the car back to Midas. There is no way in the world you could ignore my problem. I was told by other mechanic last year that I would need to take care of it soon. I thought that’s what I was doing. They fixed stuff that didn’t need to be fixed. There were no problems with anything but the rear end. The only thing that wasn’t fixed. I’m going to call the police and try and get some help getting my car back home repaired or not tomorrow.

Last Year I took my car to this shop to fix my Air conditioner. They did the A/C leak detector dye and recharge it with a little of Freon that in Walmart you can get for less than 20$ And they charge me almost 400$. After that I have cold air on my car for 2 days. Took it back and they say I have a leaking according to the dye that they put. I refuse to pay 500 more after they charge me 400$ so I stay with my A/C broken for a year. Until I went back to Walmart??? And a nice Mechanic help me with trying to see was wrong with the A/C to make the story short.
In Midas they took out 3 fuse of my car that will make the A/C work so I will be force to go back to repair the car. I was suffering with hot air almost all summer because in MIDAS they tamper my car instead of fixing it. I have to say that Pep Boys' sale department where I went to go buy the fuse they help me a lot to get my A/C to work again. Thanks for nothing MIDAS.

I took my Saturn in for an oil change and to have the transmission fluid sensor checked (my engine light was on and the OBDII was giving me a code suggesting it was the transmission fluid sensor, located beneath the battery in the engine compartment). The technicians were smoking cigarettes inside the garage and even allowed one of the other customers to stand in there and smoke. When my car was returned to me, they had a long list of things that "needed to be fixed" (various leaks, etc.) which I doubted since my garage floor shows no signs of leaks from my car. I told the manager that I wasn't happy that they were smoking around my car when the doors were open and the window was rolled down. Sure enough, my car had some smoke odor when I got back in it.
I called Midas HQ and gave them a complaint. A couple hours later, someone claiming to be from HQ called me and invited me to "meet him somewhere" so he could deodorize my car. Unless their HQ is local to me, I have reason to doubt the caller was whom he claimed to be. Of course, I declined to meet him anywhere, especially since his voice was rather similar to the manager at the shop earlier. Please be advised that your car may end up reeking of smoke if you take it to Midas! If you dislike cigarette smoke, you may end up spending the day cleaning your upholstery and detailing your car as I did. Not fun and not cool!

The mechanics not only look like prison convicts, they are actually on parole (manager told me). Anyways the swearing, yelling, and cigarette smoke set the mood for this place. I only went in for an oil change. I am not even sure if they changed the oil, I need to take it to real shop on Monday. Everything else is closed now. While I was there the police were there taking a report on a mechanic that threatened a customer. I did not get to see that go down, would of been interesting. I wasn't sure who the manager was, I ended up asking and his name was **. I had to ask two people before I found out. The first employee (**) said " ** off" when I asked him. I was quoted one price to replace my brakes and when I got there they went from the quoted price of $190.00 to $290. I told him I was not willing to pay this and wanted to leave. The manager, Sean said he would give me the brakes for $190.00. He then insisted I needed a new radiator, my oil changed and rotaries so my $190.00 quote to replace my brakes is now up into the thousands. I told him I could not afford that and to just do the brakes. I also told him I had a coupon, this was a Groupon I paid $90.00 and the rest of the cost was covered by the coupon. Sean became extremely combative, disrespectful, and rude. He said “what's your problem, you don't have any money?” I said I came here to get my brakes replaced because I had a coupon and that's all I can afford at this time.
I work full-time and I am a college student so I am on a budget. Sean then started telling me that if I did not get my rotors replaced that I could be driving down the freeway and not have brakes and kill someone. I asked how this was possible because I was getting new brakes and Sean became more combative and verbally abusive. I reminded him that the number gave me on my rotors were within the legal range to drive. He was being such a bully and calling me names that I began to cry. I just wanted my car back.
The brakes were replaced but when I went to give Sean my coupon to cover for the repairs Sean refused to accept my coupon and charge me full price. Sean was a bully and he scammed me. I went there simply because I had a coupon that I paid $90 for and it would cover the cost of my brakes which in the end Sean refuse to accept and charge me full price. At the very beginning of our conversations I told him I had a coupon so I had to stay within the range or what if you can get allow me to spend. If Sean was going to refuse my coupon he should have told me BEFORE the service was done on the brakes so I could have taken my business someplace else. A coupon cost me $90 plus $190 for my brakes so I ended up paying $280 for brakes that should have only cost me $90 I paid for the coupon. I would never take my car here again.

The muffler on my 2002 Rav4 separated from the exhaust pipe. I brought my vehicle into Midas Mufflers (Kanata Ontario) for repair. After putting the vehicle on the hoist I was told that a substantial piece of the exhaust pipe needed to be replaced along with my muffler at a total cost of $1400.00. I thought the muffler looked fine as well as the exhaust pipe. I asked if a sleeve could be welded onto the exhaust pipe to reconnect it onto the muffler, as there was a joint right where they had come apart. I was told that it could not be done.
I told the service adviser that I was not going to put $1400.00 dollars in the vehicle and asked that he remove the muffler and I would make other arrangements to repair it. The service adviser asked me to wait a moment. When he returned he advised me that they had another solution to fix the muffler and that he would save me all kinds of money because this repair would cost only $350.00. He advised me that they were going to weld a sleeve on the pipe and the muffler. I was of the understanding that the other piece of the exhaust pipe was going to be replaced as well. The work was completed and I paid my bill.
A short time later I had occasion to look at the work that was done. For $350.00 dollars a six inch piece of pipe was welded onto my exhaust pipe and onto the muffler. This was what I had asked for. No other work was done on the exhaust system. When I returned to complain about the cost of the repair, I was told that I had approved it. They were right I did but I was of the understanding that I was getting value for the repair. I trusted the service adviser's opinion and was wrong to do so.

4/6/16, my son had his oil changed at Midas in Wakefield - he was living at URI, and therefore, I wasn't able to notice that oil was leaking from the oil pan. Went to another mechanic for tires a few weeks later. Mechanic noticed the leak and said that the oil pan plug was put in crooked. Immediately went back to Midas and they said they could "fix" the pan without the need to replace it.
Whatever they did, didn't fix the problem. We would have to bring the car back in to have the plug overly tightened to lessen the dripping. Essentially, they used an oversized plug or something. They eventually told me the dripping was coming from somewhere other than the plug - that IS NOT TRUE. Just had an oil change at Firestone. Pan was all wet within a day of the oil change. Went back to Firestone and they said the plug was leaking and that it looked like someone had already altered the pan threads. They tried putting on a larger washer, but the leak is still there. I am having the pan replaced - $379. This is all because Midas in Wakefield cross-threaded the plug/inserted in at a crooked angle and caused a leak. They could have easily offered to replace the pan due to their mistake.

All the sudden my brakes are "metal on metal". Wtf! So back at Midas now. 2 hours just to look at the car and figure out the brakes situation (seriously?). Another 2 hours to fix it. Yay, that's great, cause no one needs to go to work or anything. But they're giving a "discount" on labor. Worst experience, unprofessional, poor customer service and poor work service. I brought my car to Midas (99 St and 3408, Edmonton, AB) on Dec 16, 2017 to fix my acceleration problem and starting issue. I had bought a new car battery thinking it need a new battery, but according to the store serviceman it was a starter issue and they will look at it and look at my acceleration issue. I left them with the car from 9am - 3pm. I came back to a bill of 940 dollars to fix all the issues. I paid and left. This include an inspection and engine diagnosis.
1. They forgot to put my timing belt, they called and asked me to bring the car back on Monday - Dec 18.
2. On Dec 28 my car dies and unable to start. I call AMA to come and boost the car thinking wasn't a battery issue. The batter new as I bought it on Dec 14. 2 days before bring the car to Midas to find and solve the problem. I spoke to Store Manager on ** on Saturday and told that, "My car wasn't starting and I needed the car tow to your shop to fix it". He gave me the towing company they used and told me to call them and they will 75 dollars of the towing. I called the towing company and it cost 110 just for hooking up the vehicle and another 60-70 dollars to have the car towed to the shop.
Jan 2/18. So I called back the shop to be told that they can't do anything until Tuesday (Jan 2). I left a voicemail for someone to call on Tuesday morning. I didn't get any call, I called the and spoke to ** @ 9:45am and asked him to have someone to come and tow my car to the shop to repair it. Since I paid 940 dollars for this issue to be fixed. And they did an inspection and diagnosis of the car and replace the star plug. So as far as I know I paid Midas to find and fix the problem. They finally towed my car at 6:30 pm, after speaking to ** again @ 1:30pm.
So from 1:30 - 6:30pm for the 5hrs nothing was done to my car. ** says he had to talk to the person that did the write up as he didn't indicate starter issue. I told him, "It's not my problem if he didn't indicate that, you did an inspection and engine diagnosis you should have caught it then." And I told him that, "I bought a new battery which you checked off on your inspection checklist," and he said it wasn't a battery issue. Are you saying this is all because you need to confirm what another person wrote down 3 weeks ago? Seriously.
Jan 3/18. I called ** @ 11:30am to ask him if my car has been fixed. He said he's overwhelmed and understaffed and hasn't gotten to my car. He still hasn't spoke to the person that wrote up my order. Because he needs to see "if it was a warranty issue or if a new issue that you will have to pay". I said, "This has nothing to deal with me or warranty. I paid you guys 940 dollars to solve the problem of starting and acceleration. So as far as I'm concerned only 1 issue was resolved. And why I am suffering because of someone didn't write down starter issue. When I recall it and your mechanic did inspection and engine diagnosis." ** said he was going to drop everything and focus on my car and have it resolved today and to "expect a call back before we close". I didn't receive any call or update. NOTHING.
Jan 4/18. I called to find out if my car is fixed and if I can fix it. The lady tells me that there is nothing anyone can do since ** is the Manager. I asked can I speak to the Owner, General Manager, District Manager or Someone in Head Office. She avoided to give me any phone or email of anyone. She said there's nothing she can do and no one else that can help me. I said, "Are you serious that in a company of your size there is no one that can resolve this issue? You have shop full of mechanics, there is no one that fix the problem and give me my car. You are affect me as I have to pay for cabs and bus tickets for the now an entire week. Who is going to reimburse me for all these added cost?" She said there is nothing she can do. "** is off today and he didn't leave me any instructions," and there is no that can help me. She said she will call me back if she gets any information but for now "you have to wait until ** is back tomorrow".
So because ** is away nothing happens or functions at the shop? Because ** is away I can't have my car to perform my job and therefore affect my income? No response. I called the customer relations line @ 2pm and spoke to lady. I explained everything again and again I was met with the same response. "There is nothing I can do but refer the matter to Store Manager - **." I said, "Are you serious, there's no district or regional manager or general manager I can talk to resolve this issue." Her response was no. So what is the point of having a customer relations office to help deal with customer complaints or problems if all they do is refer you back to the exact Store manager who can't be help you in the first place.
I am so frustrated with Midas, i have been without a car for now over 1 week. I have been given the runaround, people are avoiding my calls and not returning my voicemails. I the customer has to call and find out the status of my car or follow-up, which is poor customer service. The mechanic who did my car forgot the timing belt and I am sure did my car so fast. Probably why they didn't catch the start problem even after putting in new star plugs. And completing an inspection and engine diagnosis.
I have paid for cabs, bus tickets which I bet Midas is not going to refund me that money. My work requires me to be mobile which is affecting me and giving me stress. And the classic is because Store manager ** is off. NOTHING CAN BE DONE. What type of business model or business continuity plan does this company have? Honest. After this experience my trust with Midas is over, and I have been a faith customer for 7 years. That is now over, I want my car and be done.

I went to the other mechanic who was looking at my car and he said the other facility forgot to put a sticker on it and I said "why would they do that" and he said sometimes they forget and he asked me if I would like him to take the old sticker off. Without thinking I said yes and I remembered that the other garage did put the oil sticker off and they scraped it off so I couldn't see that they were not trying to give me an unnecessary oil change.
Then the manager took me under the car. Showed me the hole in the muffler and in the front of the car a honey comb part that was rusty, he said I needed that too. The initial Total for the muffler, honey comb part, inspection and emissions was 527$. They told me to bring the car in on Saturday morning for the repairs. I took the car in Friday night and left the keys in the lock box. My car did not get on the rack until 3pm Saturday. I said that was too much for me and to hold off on it and that I would come back next week but he said my car would not pass inspection without it. So I told them to go ahead with the new brakes and rotors.
My car was supposed to be finished at 6 pm and they were not finished until close to 7 pm and before I could take it home they showed me a HOLE in the pipe close to the honeycomb part that they replaced, said I needed a new rubber washer near my tire and told me that lug nut was stripped so they sent me home without it. The additional repairs would cost 125$. I went home with a hole in my pipe not repaired, a missing lug nut and a missing washer. There happened to look up and see there was a Midas dealer right there on the corner. I turned in again with the car smoking like mad. The manager came out. And said, "It looks like you need help." I explained the problem to him and he guessed another caliper had failed. I had to go to the legion post which was right across the street. He said Instead of closing. (It was about 7pm) He said he would stay open with his mechanic and inspect all the wheels. And repair what was needed before I left that evening.
He called me at the post and asked me to come back over so he could explain what they had found. When I got there they had all four wheels off and he showed me that the front right caliper had locked up, plus the rotor and brakes had been over heated and were damaged, Then he showed me the other left front and right rear and showed me that the calipers on those wheels had failed also, plus burned the rotors and brake pads. He then showed me the Left Rear where the Alexis shop had replace the caliper on the 2nd. The rotors and brake pads had been overheated and burned. He replaced the rotors, brake pads and calipers on all four wheels and finished the car so I could take it home. I was charged $931.75. Total for both shops $2003.16.
He said he had to charge me because the other shop was in a different district and I would have to go to them to get a reimbursement. I went back to the Alexis rd. shop the next morning! To-Date I have received nothing even though they have been promising me for 2 weeks that they were taking care of it. According to the shop manager the reason is he has not been able to get ahold of his regional manager. This shop has lied to me multiple times and shows no interest in taking care of this problem! I am a handicapped, 76 year old widower and American Legion Officer and Vet. on social security and cannot afford this kind of Debt. My auto is my only means of staying active for my health and the legion.

6/23 I took my 1999 GMC Jimmy to the Midas in Wind Gap PA for an oil change. When I was paying for the change the man at the counter told me they'd found other problems including a broken engine mount. That the engine mount was useless and the engine would rock back every time I accelerated. He told me it would cost upwards of $400 to fix. I took it to a shop up the street that a police officer had recommended who said there was some slight movement and a slight crack that didn't go all the way through the rubber and the mount wouldn't need to be replaced for a while. He explained what to look for when there was a real problem and none of that showed in my car. Oh, and none of my tires were rotated either. They also said I needed new tires but the other shop said mine were good a bit longer. Avoid this shop. Get recommendations for other shops rather than give these thieves an opportunity to rip you off.

I bought air shocks for my 94 Cadillac Fleetwood 3 years ago. Recently the rear driver's side shock was leaking. It made the compressor stay on and you could hear the air coming out. (My mechanic confirmed that the shock was leaking and unplugged the car's compressor). Since I had a lifetime warranty, I took it back to Midas.
8:00 am Saturday morning they start looking at my car. They put it on the rack and "look" at my shocks. They lowered it back to the ground and raised the hood. About 15 minutes later I went out and asked what they were doing? They said, "trying to make the compressor come on". I said, "it's unplugged". I said, "if you want to test the shock, hook an air hose to it". They insisted the compressor wasn't working.
I went back out after they pulled my fuses and whacked on the compressor. I said, "what the hell are you doing now?" (The car is still on the ground.). I said, "I've told you it's the shock, not the compressor". I told them, "that's it! You are not going to screw it up! Get it out, I'm taking it home." The end of the story - I bought shocks at Autozone and my mechanic put them on. They had put them on backwards 3 years ago. So they can't even install them correctly and they don't honor their lifetime warranty.

I AM WRITING THIS REVIEW BECAUSE I WANT YOU ALL TO AVOID THIS MIDAS LOCATION(495 Route 9 South Woodbridge, NJ!!! Please do not go there. My vehicle came into the location running well. After being told on the last visit that my shock/strut was leaking gas, I decided to have the guys at this location replace the rear shock and struts. I brought it in on the above date and it took them the entire day to fix it. Didn't pick up my car until Sunday, May 28th. The mechanic that fixed it was coming back from a test drive and told me that the truck was vibrating. The truck did not do this before. I have driven all over the tri-state area and my truck never vibrated before! These kids and owner do not know how to repair cars.
1. They told me that the control arm was bad. It was replaced by another mechanic a year ago. So I took it back to the original mechanic and a screw on the control arm needed to be tightened. However, the original mechanic showed me that the shock & strut that the Midas mechanic put on was on the right rear was upside down and the axle somehow was cracked while the mechanic put the shock/strut on. Furthermore, the owner Peter is the rudest man there is. He lacks the professionalism that is needed to run a customer service driven operation. The young assistant ** is very nice. He gave me his personal cell number so that he can assist me with the "alleged control arm" situation. One thing that I was told was that the Midas isn't doing business with a distributor anymore because the prices were exorbitant. Again, I don't really care, but the kid (**) was trying to assist.
Again, the control arm didn't need to be replaced. Had I gone with their suggestion, I would have had to pay more $$$ out of my wallet. So, I wound up paying $550 at this location. Suffered emotional damage and then had to shell out an additional $823.21 to fix the damage that the mechanic did to the car. Furthermore, I am 52 years old this year. In my recent issue of AARP bulletin, the article talks about "Car repair rip-offs can wreck your day". The people at this location did just that. Tried to rip me off because there wasn't anything wrong with the control arm but a loose screw.
I'd like to please try to get this resolved before I take this to the local TV station or a lawyer. This is not fair to me and furthermore, the Midas location (despite being a garage) is a crap hole. The Firestone up the hill is clean, meticulous and the employees are in uniform. Correct me if I am wrong, but even though you’re a franchise, you should have a clean work space. I'd like to have someone reach out to me asap.

I marked my driver's side front tire with a yellow marker before going in to Midas Mufflers at 6301 North Lincoln in Chicago for a $19.99 oil change with tire rotation. Mechanic pulled my car into the shop right away and a few minutes later pulled it back out. I was surprised how fast he had finished! I went out and inspected my tires. The same yellow mark was still on the same driver's side front tire. I went back into the shop and the clerk said my car was all ready to go. I told her I needed my tires rotated first. She told me the "technician" already rotated my tires.
Then the mechanic came back in and gave me a dirty look before taking my keys and pulled my car back in the shop. Then the manager came out throwing temper tantrums and ordered me to leave his shop. He was so angry he was shouting and wouldn't take any money from me. Unfortunately, the yellow marker doesn't lie! Let the buyer beware at the 6301 N Lincoln Midas location! Zero stars. I had to have it fixed so I was stuck. I was also robbed by the Midas shop. It cost me over $600 for the muffler which lasted 2 months. I had to go to another Midas in Georgia who replaced the garbage quality muffler at the cost of $128 labor. The Midas Corporation did not care one bit that the muffler was defective and stated that I am responsible for the labor cost even though the muffler lasted 2 months. I took the car to Ford prior to having the muffler replaced in Georgia and they said that they will not touch the muffler system because it was botched and welded. My warranty on the muffler system is now void. The East Windsor manager Gary was nasty to the other customers making fun of some of the other customers. Never go to Midas as they are a rip off.

MIDAS MUFFLER Sunrise Hyway, BAY SHORE N.Y.... Don't go there. They are rip offs. I'd give it less than 1 star if the system allowed for it. I've brought my car down there 2 times on 2 separate occasions for different repairs. Both times were given a run around on expensive additional repairs and almost ended up with paying 100's of dollars more on 2nd visit when at first refusing the additional suggested work.
Case in point, my last visit for front brakes: I get a call from these clowns stating that manufacturer claims brake fluid to be changed, a two hundred dollar charge. That may be well and good, however I told him "No, I can't afford it right now. Please, just finish the brakes." Then I get a call 1 hour later stating the caliper is frozen coincidentally an additional 200 dollar charge. Now a frozen caliper in front end will be felt/heard, either while driving, or when driving or applying brakes the car will pull to one of sides. The car had driven fine, no front end problem when I brought it in but mysteriously developed a frozen caliper after I refused the brake fluid change. Then they changed their claim only after my confronting them with the impossibility of their bogus frozen caliper scenario. Then they called me back up and stated that it wasn't caliper after all but they placed the wrong pads on the car which is just as ridiculous a claim.
To top it all off, they inspected my car and did not put a new sticker on the car. Two days later I got a ticket for no inspection because it was up the day I brought the car to them and it took over a week for them to rectify that screw up. That ticket for no inspection actually cost me $125.00 for not having the sticker on the windshield, even though I proved they screwed up. They did not offer to pay and rectify their screw up but actually refused.
This Midas are ripoffs supreme. I'll never go back to this place again, nor probably any Midas again!! They think everybody is an old lady who hasn't ever driven a car with the problems they state your car has. If they think they can get away with it, they will screw you. This post is being posted through their system so it probably won't see the light of day there, and will be taken down pronto if ever getting published in the first place.
"HOWEVER MIDAS PEOPLE" take note; it's going elsewhere on the web as well and into as many search engines that I can tie your business to as well as through as many social media applications I can access. One thing is for sure, you will never see me spend a penny in your rip off business again!! I don't work hard to have my money swindled from me.

The charge for the oil change was what I expected. However, they also said I needed a new air filter so got that and was shocked at the charge $26.99. Called an auto parts store and retail is $13.25. Then to add insult to injury, they inform me that the drain plug to the rear end is stripped and that they will get one from the dealer and I can return the next day and that it will be $3.00. The charge for this came to $34.17 a total of $110.17 for a simple oil change. When I questioned the amount I was told I should have gone to the dealer. Took my daughter's 08 Volks EOS in for oil change w/ $20 coupon. Refused to provide conventional oil change, blaming same on "company policy" since Volkswagen recommends synthetic oil change. Even continued their refusal when I pointed out that WE own the car, not VW, and with 109,000 miles on it, we will probably only keep it for 2-3 more years. But regardless - it is not Midas, or VW's business what type of oil we choose to put in OUR car - we OWN it. There is no warranty in effect on this car, if that is their "alleged" concern. I guess their "REAL" company policy is that they persuade a large percentage of their customers to use the much more expensive service, and avoid the low profit coupon business. Not smart - good way to lose customers for the long run.

I put the purchase total of $301.50 on my credit card.

I asked ** about the $13.00 Shop Supply charge and was told that this is a % they add to all invoices. Again I asked what this charge is for and again I was told this is a % they add to all invoices. I am now becoming agitated and told him he is not answering my question. He reminded me there is a camera recording all this. I told him I want my $13.00 back. He answered no. Now remember there are customers in the waiting room. I told ** I wanted a full refund credited to my card. He told me that I would have to fill out a "CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUEST FOR ADJUSTMENT/REFUND" and it would take 4 or 5 days before I could get my money. I told them "No way and I want you to credit my card now". He replied "Get out of my store".
While standing there I called the police department. I refused to leave until I got my money. The police arrived and I made my statement. Upon talking to the manager he would give me the form to fill out which I did right there on the spot. Upon contacting the owner of this franchise, she plainly stated to me that what the manager did was completely in the wrong. They told me I needed both front bearings. The price was high, but I was in a hurry. Later when the wheel was already dismantled they told me that it would be $500 more for sensors that "break 50% of the time during bearing replacement". This put me way over my budget. I would not have made the repair then if that would have been disclosed to me. I made calls and learned that the Honda dealer and other mechanics would have charged me significantly less for the bearings. When I drove away, the sound was not changed at all. Turns out it was the tires. The next mechanic told me that bearings rarely go bad in pairs.
They did not address the problem I asked them to address, they grossly overcharged me to repair something I now doubt was even wrong, and I now have to pay to fix sensors they broke. They were difficult to talk to. Now we are trying to repair that damage caused by this shop and a family friend mechanic, who is looking at it now, said that it's a mess where these bearings had been replaced and there are lines cut and sensors missing everywhere. This place has many negative reviews about fraudulent service and should not be able to continue to operate. The reason for my review is because I feel that I was scammed by Midas in Medina, Ohio and I would like to make other potential consumers aware of their shady business practices. On Saturday July 30th, 2016 I took my car to Midas, located on N. Court St. in Medina, Ohio. When I got there, I told the guy at the front desk (later I was told that his name was Jim) that I wanted to get my air conditioner fixed. He said that they would run a diagnostic on my car to find out exactly what was wrong with it. He took down my contact information and I gave him my keys.
Later that day I got a call from Jim and he told me that they had run the diagnostic and my car needs to have the COMPRESSOR replaced, as well as a new radiator. I asked him how much it would cost and he quoted me $684. I told him that I was coming to pick my car up. When I got to the store, Jim offered to show me the holes in my radiator and compressor. I declined to look and told him that I would be back the next Saturday for repairs.
On Saturday August 6, 2016 I called Midas at about 9:00 a.m. to make sure that they were open. When I called Dave answered the phone. He told me that they were open, and he asked me for my first and last name so he could look my information up. At that point he told me that it would cost me $839 to get my air conditioner fixed. I told him nevermind, and that I was not paying any more than $700 because that is what I had been quoted the week before. He then said "okay we can do it for $700." I said okay. A few minutes later Dave called and left a voicemail that again said that they would do the work for $700 and that he wanted to make sure that I was still coming. Minutes later, I dropped my car off at Midas and left.
About eight hours later I received a voicemail message from Dave that said that even though they replaced my condenser (not compressor) and my radiator, my car was still blowing out hot air and the air conditioner was still not fixed. I called Dave back and he said that Jim (that’s when I was told what the first gentleman’s name was) should have told me that I needed to have a full diagnostic done and that would have cost an additional $79.99. He also told me that my car still needed a compressor and that would cost an additional $2300. I told him that I was coming to pick my car up. When my husband and I arrived at the store, Dave kept trying to explain that the mistake was Jim's fault and that Jim had been fired that week. He told me that he felt bad and that he (of course) wanted my business and wanted me to let him fix the compressor for $2300.
I told Dave that I did not even think that I should have to pay $700 because my air condition still was not fixed. My husband then asked him why he moved forward with the work on my car if he was not sure what was actually wrong with it. Dave never did answer the question. Instead he said that he would call the district manager. He went into the repair shop and picked up the phone. Then an auto tech came out and explained that he felt bad about what happened to my car but it was Jim's fault because Jim did not do the proper diagnostic. Later Dave came back and said that he could not get in touch with a district manager but what he could do was keep my car until a supervisor called back.
At that point I told him that I would just pay the $700 because I wanted to leave. Dave still continued to try to explain the difference between a compressor and a condenser, instead of just processing my credit card and giving me my receipt. At that point a left my credit card on the counter with my husband and I walked outside. A few minutes later I went back in and asked my husband to make sure that he got my receipt. My husband came out with my keys. I got in my car and the air conditioner still did not work. Also, I would like to mention that later that day I went to their Facebook page to write a review about my experience. Someone from that location responded by saying they were sorry and asked me to contact them, and then they reported me to Facebook & removed my post even though it was not inappropriate in any way.

I checked the price on all the parts and told him he had over charged me into the first place and only patched up my brakes. He refuse to fix them and said he would do it for a hundred and fifty more. I refused to pay more and picked up my truck.

I just want to share my negative experience. I brought my truck in for service in running condition to a local Midas in Arlington, TX on 7/4/15. They did all the work that was quoted which was for the A/C and replacing the spark plugs. Was told on 7/6/15 that the truck was complete and everything was running good. Got a call the next day on 7/7/15, that the truck wasn't working. They offered to drain out the oil for free but weren't able to figure out the cause. When I was finally able to come check out the truck on 7/18/15, the manager, Matt, offered to refund the money for the spark plugs and that they would have the truck towed to a local mechanic because now the battery had died as well. After having the local mechanic look at, the truck needed a new engine that ended up costing $4500+. Not sure how the truck could go from running to needing a new engine in the span of several days.
Lastly, they didn't even bother to contact me in regards that they had closed my complaint out months prior giving this reason: "the truck had preexisting overheated motor issues and there was coolant in the oil which could not be caused by any service they performed." And they would offer to replace the spark plugs. Funny thing is prior to this I never had any issues with "overheated motor issues" or I would have addressed it accordingly. I always perform all maintenance/preventative services needed to address any issues. I have all my service paperwork that I have done to maintain my truck. I actually trusted this location to perform work on my truck, brought it here prior for them to change out my shocks which I thought they did a good job on so I brought it back again for other work but that was a mistake.

Took my 2002 Lexus gs 300 to Midas to fix a stalling and engine light problem. After having the car all the service writer calls and says you need a full tune up. I said "Np. How much?" 600.00 dollar even. Say ok, felt it was a little much, but this is Midas, will be done right. Wrong. Got the car back stalled and cut right off. Took back next day, did a 5-second adjustment, and told me the car was running right. Wrong. Engine light and every dash light came back on.
Took to another shop, says tune up was half done/not all spark plugs were changed. So I took it back to Midas cause it still under full warranty. Wrong. The service writer advise me they would charge me 1200 hundred dollars to fix the car right. I advised him, "take my car off your lift. I am done with you guys and will never ever come back to shop of ripoffs." The shop I went to is in Irvington NJ on 1166 Springfield ave. Please beware. They are crooks and do very shabby work. Never again. I also filed a report with their headquarters.

I was told an oil change was $29.00, yet the bill was for $32.50 PLUS additional charges for an extra liter of oil (acceptable even though only 0.7 liters of bulk oil was required) and additional charge for taxes (also acceptable). This location had sent me a $5.00 discount coupon but upon presenting it, the manager REFUSED to accept it. The oil change took place today. My vehicle now is dripping dirty oil when it NEVER dripped any did before, making a mess on my driveway. If it was leaking oil it would be the clean oil put in today. The manager must have been upset that I wanted to use a coupon sent by HIS LOCATION, and after paying the full, undiscounted amount he "asked" that I not come back. Wow, great PR there. Midas must be proud of him.

My wife and teenage son brought his 2008 VW GTI in for a state safety inspection. Before going, I had tested all lights, wipers, brakes, blinkers, tires to ensure everything worked. Midas asked that the car be left at the location for the day. Shortly after dropping the car off, Midas called my son to inform him that neither the wipers or washer/fluid worked. They offered to perform Electrical Diagnosis for $69. I'm sure there would have then charge for service and parts of whatever problem they 'found' during diagnosis. Instead, we went to get the car. We showed them that the wipers worked fine. Their comment was "I'll be damned." We watched while they completed the inspection and provided the sticker. The invoice they presented included the $69 diagnosis charge. After I showed this to them, they created a new invoice.
Clearly they saw my wife and teenage son as easy victims. No doubt most people would approve the 'repair' as the car cannot be driven without a valid safety inspection sticker (my son's was out of date). The wipers didn't experience a momentary lapse in functionality and it's certainly not possible to claim that the mechanic must have operated the switch incorrectly. Midas saw an opportunity to turn a $29 safety inspection into a $69 + repair profit - they wouldn't even have to find a problem or repair. Just claim that they fixed it. Avoid Midas and beware of other chains as well.

I went to Midas Muffler on North Main Street in Alpharetta, Georgia Thursday June 28th 2016 with a simple A/C hose leak. My 1991 Chevrolet C1500 had been retrofitted to use R134a a number of years ago and the conversion fitting on the high pressure side worked its way loose and started leaking freon. I found the leak myself two days earlier and showed it to them. The Manager at Midas in his infinite wisdom decided that tightening the fitting up vacuuming the system down then recharging was not profitable enough for Midas. He the Manager began to immediately tried up sell me a whole new hose assembly for double the price of what it cost at Autozone who by the way was their parts supplier of the hose. Total cost he said would be over $400.00 dollars. After hearing that news I walked out!
Today July 1st 2016. I stopped at one of those 15 min oil change places. Showed them the leaky fitting. They replaced the O ring to be safe then tightened the fitting down vacuumed the system down and recharged it. Total price Parts and Labor $90.91. Folks you can do what you want. But Midas clearly is not in the auto repair business to help you. They are only in it to help themselves. My experience proves it. I'm sitting here wondering what it must be like to able to charge whatever price you like based upon how gullible the customer appears to be...

I brought my vehicle in because my car overheated. Dave was the person I spoke with when I dropped my car off. I tried to explain what had happened with my car and show him a video I took of my engine when it was overheated so he could see where there was a leak. He wasn't interested in anything I had to say and remarked "don't worry I know what's wrong - there's a leak." He was abrupt and rude! He called me back about three hours later and told me I needed a part ($114) and it would take 1.8 hours to complete for a grand total of $404 - he said they charge $264 per hour labor costs so about $290 for labor. He said it may be a little more depending on how much coolant he needed to add.
Being a woman and knowing nothing about repairing cars I had no idea what he was talking about but this seemed VERY high to me particularly the labor. I called the shop again without identifying myself and asked how much they charged for labor per hour - he said it was $125 an hour. How did Dave get $290 ish in labor then for 1.8 hours of work?
One hour and twenty seven minutes after I spoke to Dave to tell him to go ahead and repair my car he called to say it was fixed already. Which would mean he didn't work on my car for even 1.5 hours which would be 187.50 in labor! When I went to pick up my car he told me I owed him $404. $264 in labor!!! I said "you charge $125 an hour and I know you didn't even work 1.5 hours on my car based on the time stamps of our phone calls." He became very rude and said he would change the labor to $188 from $264!! He didn't even work on it 1.5 hours!!
He also charged me $20 for coolant. I told him I had a jug of coolant in my trunk! He said he would take off that charge. He wasn't going to argue about something like that and lose me as a customer. (He already did when he tried to charge me for 2+ hours of labor he didn't do.) He then added an additional $24.34 to my bill for shop supplies to recoup the $20 he removed for the coolant - which I saw on the final invoice once I got home. I had asked him to also do an oil change which he charged me $49.50 for - he neglected to advise me they had a summer maintenance special where they did an oil change, rotated the tires etc for $49.
Additionally when I came home to write a review I found out they have coupons for $30 off any work over $300 which again he neglected to even mention. I have dealt with Al in the past and had a better experience (possibly because it was a different person or perhaps because I had my father with me). At least he told me I could access a coupon! This was a classic example of how repair shops try to rip off female customers!!

If there is a zero star, I will definitely give Midas in Chillicothe Ohio a big zero. I took my Mercury Montego to Midas on Saturday at 10. They checked the engine light with $90 diag service. Somebody called me at 10:38 and said the only problem was spark plugs. I told this guy to replace the spark plug set I have in my car. He got this done plus engine oil change and tire rotation done within 2 hours and 40 mins. Then guess what happened? They charged me three hours labor fee for $294!!! They included the labor fee for oil change and rotation and roll them into the total. That's ridiculous!!!
I paid and drove my car for 3 min and parked for shopping. When I started my car again when we done with the shopping, the engine light came back on. It was about 3 pm and my baby and wife had not have lunch yet. We decided to have lunch first then go back to Midas. We had our lunch and I saw there was a AutoZone. I thought why not have AutoZone check it and know what's wrong and talk to Midas then. When AutoZone guy done his job and my car shut off by itself I was not able to restarted it then. What the hell!!! What did Midas do to my car?
I towed my car back to Midas and talked to a big female call "Tammy **". She was even more angry than me. She said the spark plug is not compatible with my car!!! She said I brought the spark plugs and they are not responsible for anything. If they knew they are not compatible, why they still put them in??? Are you hoping I come back again and again? No way! I was in Napa but live in Reno, and of course driving over the Sierras was a concern. I thought it odd because the car was 3 years old but just a few thousand miles over the 50,000 mile warranty. Anyway, he charged me $456/each for what he said were new rotors, but I came to find out they are refurbished. When I asked for my old parts back (defective rotors) he said he traded them in when he got the refurbs.
So all in all, he charged me retail for the new ones, but only had a small cost - likely a 400% markup. He also was upselling other customers - I heard while waiting. Curtis is a pro! He'll screw you and make you feel you got a good deal! $2,133.00 dollars later I pulled out with new pads, rotors, and refurb calipers - about $1,500 or so more than I should have paid in the first place! I took it to work and there was some tranny fluid leaking underneath. When I got it home and it sat overnight, there was a huge amount of fluid that leaked out! Of course they were closed. They didn't take the cross member down to put the pan back up, put one bolt on that was too big, and overtightened the bolts. Because of that, the less than day old gasket they put on was damaged in several spots where the bolts had been tightened too much. I was taking my 2005 Sierra to Midas for basic maintenance because it was next to where I worked. Last June I took it in for oil change and a week or so later when my husband started his truck it was running weird. Luckily he was close to our regular mechanic who showed us that the oil had all leaked out of the truck and the oil filter had not been put on correctly and the oil leaked out. He put in several quarts of oil and we called Midas. They came and towed it to their garage, assured us that no damage was done and offered us a bunch of free services which my husband told them no way. They were not touching the truck anymore.
After that the truck kept on losing antifreeze and we were told it was probably just a leaky hose, so we got thru the next several months just adding Dex to it like it stated. Come to find out in the spring when we went for the next due oil change there was anti-freeze in the oil and told us the engine was shot. We have letters from Midas admitting they did not screw the filter back on correctly but now are saying the engine problems are not their doing. Looks like we are getting a lawyer because it is not just the fact of the money (even though that is a big part) but I will not let a company screw me over when they know they were in the wrong and they know it has happened hundreds of times before.

I dropped my classic 1979 F250 Crew Cab off at Midas at about 8:15am to get the brakes looked at. After 7 hours I was told that they didn't have the correct sized socket to complete the work which I was ok with. When I went back to pick up the truck I stalled it 2 times in their parking lot. I knew something was wrong immediately as the idle was all messed up. It was vibrating like crazy and on the verge of stalling. I live a half mile from Midas and stalled the truck another 5 times so I drove it right back to them.
The tech that worked on my truck met me outside and said that he would take a look at it. When I walked inside the store the manager told me, "he had to go racing it". This statement made me sick. After sitting for a few minutes the tech drove my truck to the entrance and I got in the passenger seat. He told me that he turned up the idle. As we drove down the road I knew immediately that he was driving the truck too hard. As we moved down the road he couldn't get the shifter into 3rd gear so I grabbed it and shifted it up into 3rd for him. He stated, "oh, there it is." We continued down the road and got up to 60mph in the left lane (passing cars) when the tech said that it sounded good at 60. I then told him that 60MPH on the dash means 70MPH because of the size of the tires. I was pissed because I don't even drive this truck 65 on the Thruway. It's a really old truck. I asked him to pull over so that I could drive.
As we started to move I stalled it again. At this point I had a meltdown and yelled, "this truck is **" as I smashed my $300 pair of Oakley's against my dashboard. My truck ran great before I brought it to Midas. The bottom line is that the tech beat up on my truck during his initial test drive. Then he tried to turn up the idle to fix the problems and it didn't work. It should be noted that when I got home I called Midas to speak to the manager. The tech answered the phone and he told me that the manager was outside and that he would call me back. It's been over 2 hours now and no return call. So I called corporate and they told me that the franchise owner would call me back within 24 or 48 hours. I hope he lives close so that I can pick him up in the truck and show him first hand what his shop has done. The question I keep asking myself is why did the tech test drive my truck if he never got around to fixing the brakes?

Called up Midas in Ventura CA on 3/15/16 at ~ 0930 a.m. to inquire about a special $19.99 oil change coupon I saw advertised on TV and also found as a coupon online. Told the manager my printer was not working at home but asked him if I could email the coupon directly to him. He told me, "Don't worry about it... Just c'mon in and I'll honor it." I explicitly told the manager that my car was a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid during our conversation.
Went to the Midas store as requested by the manager and when I got there the manager tells me over the counter that he is an independent franchise and doesn't accept the corporate Midas' coupons/offers. However, he says that he has his own coupon offer for a $24.99 oil change! Already $5.00 more!! Then he asks me what kind of car I have. I tell him again that it's a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid. He then says "Oh... that requires a synthetic oil!" I said I didn't think so. Then he says "Well let's go check what's in the car now." So we go out to the parking lot. He pulls the dip stick and says... "Yes, it's synthetic 0-20W. You'll need the $54.99 oil change!"
I should have pulled out my Honda manual out of the glove box right then but I was so mad about the bait-n-switch that I said "NO WAY!!" and drove off. When I got home I checked the Honda manual. It DOES NOT require/recommend synthetic oil. The manual does however recommend 0-20W oil which can be petroleum or synthetic (or a blend). After I complained to corporate Midas the manager called me back and said they only make the recommended 0-20W oil in a synthetic oil... Petroleum based 0-20W is not available. I asked him why he didn't mention fact that when I told him I had a Honda Civic Hybrid AND he said he would honor the corporate $19.99 offer during our original phone conversation. One apparent and plausible answer to these questions is that MIDAS is possibly back to the BAIT AND SWITCH business ethic. Beware.

Midas Auto Service Experts Lake Jackson, Tx - Came to Midas the morning of 12/21/15 for them to locate a noise on my 2007 Cadillac CTS when I hit bumps. At 9:45, I got a call from the tech. I was told that I need struts, alignment, and sway strut links. The total bill would be 1974.24, quite high. I had a coupon for that particular store which said buy 3 struts, get one free so I authorized it. I called at five to see if they were finished and was told they would be by six. When I got there, I was told that my coupon was not for my struts and couldn't be used. I spoke to the manager and he stated at first "I don't suppose to have that coupon, in which I said it has your address on it and I had gotten it off of your Midas.com". He then said my struts were special and was not a part of the coupon.
I got in my car and heard the same noise I came in for. Also the rear end didn't respond like it had a sport suspension anymore, very soft. Took it back the next morning and the technician who was the one that checked for the noise initially and did the work ask me to take him for a ride so he could hear it. When I pointed out the noise he say "Oh that's the noise you talking about?" He also stated that they couldn't get the correct rear struts, so they had installed a different type (Monroe), which were not as sport oriented as the original brand.
He had talked to the manager and he had agreed to replace at no charge, due to the high price he had charged me, if I would ride around with the installed ones for two weeks to see if I like them. Ok, I've already been overcharged (I had checked the price of the installed struts and they were 1/4 the price I was charged, which you can get at any auto parts store), have wrong parts, lost my sport ride, and still have the noise.
Since I was told by the serviceman that he was holding my old rear struts for parts until I decide whether I want to replace them in two weeks, the next morning I went back and asked to speak with him to make sure he still have the old struts which I recorded on my phone. He said yes. I went to the front desk and asked to have my original rear strut put back on because I could not live with the new struts & didn't want to wait two weeks. I was told to come back in a half an hour when the manager would be in. Came back & was told by the manager they didn't have my old struts. I told him the tech told me he kept them. We went to him and he stated that they didn't have them. I've been lied to. At that moment I decided to never let these people touch my car again. As far as I am concern, they owe me 679.98 plus tax for the rear struts OR I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN ONE FREE STRUT.
I understand the need to make money if you have a business, but to use the wrong parts. I expected to at least get parts that's equal or better then the original at that price and lie to your customers, that's wrong. The tech that lied to me, I understand. You didn't have a choice. You didn't want to lose your job. I will pray for you.

I spoke with the manager Kavon who asked, "what can we do for you today?" I specifically told him that my brakes were squealing & I smell strong gas fumes in my car. After my 86 year old mom & I sat a few hours while a diagnostic was done; I was told I needed repairs costing $1109.00; which included two new tires, a tune-up, fuel filter, coil plugs, ball joints, power steering flush, engine torque mount & shocks & struts. At this point I automatically assumed the brakes & gas fumes would be taken care of; because it was for those two reasons that took my car in.
I authorized the work to be done & my mother & I were given a ride home. I received a call around 4:00 pm & was advised my car was ready. My son took me to Midas to pick up my car & while I was driving home from Midas my brakes continued to squeal & I continued to smell gas fumes. Once I reached home, I immediately called the manager Kavon & informed him that I am still having a problem with the same thing I asked them to fix. He told me to give it a few days because sometimes the new brakes will squeal until they are broken in. The manager also said the new brake pads could be defected; leading me to believe the brake problem was addressed. I did as I was advised & waited several days before returning my car to Midas. On 11/21/15, my son returned my car to Midas because I continued to smell gas & the brakes continued to squeal.
The manager Kavon informed my son that I needed a brake drum with a maxi pack, a wheel cylinder & brake shoes; & it will cost an additional $418.94. My son advised the manager Kavon that those repairs should have already been done on 11/12/15: but after reviewing the initial invoice written on 11/12/15, my son learned that the very reason I took the car to Midas complaining about gas fumes & squealing brakes was not addressed at all! Instead, Midas found $1109.06 worth of other repairs which they did & my brakes are still squealing & I still smell gas fumes!
When my son returned my car to me after having it checked the second time on 11/21/15, I called Midas & spoke with the manager, Kavon, who advised me that the additional work that must be done is something that happened after I left Midas the first visit & if I wanted my car repaired I will need to pay an additional $418.94. I advised my son NOT to have the additional work done. I am very angry because my Ford Taurus is my only means of transportation & my 86 year old mother & I cannot drive in a car with failing brakes & gas fumes. I will file a report with the BBB because I must now take my car somewhere else to have the additional work done. After reading all of the reviews about unsatisfied Midas customers, I don't understand why they are still in business.

They gave me a quote of "about $1300 to $1500."
The next day I phoned again and the head guy said they could not find the parts in the state of California (they had earlier told me they could have the parts sent from nearby Corona, CA.) The new price was $1963.00, which they assured me they could install on the following day. The cost for shipping the parts was $60. I went online and checked the price of parts and found I'd been overcharged at least $750. I went in early on the following morning and tried to negotiate with them and they refused. So I took my car, paid them $140 for their work and had to go find another shop. I also contacted Midas Headquarters and they never responded.

I took my 2006 Sebring to Midas in Collinsville, IL to have my thermostat replaced. It took them about 5 hrs to do the job and cost me $370. When I brought my car in, it was not overheating. The manager had a slight attitude because I stated that Meineke had told me I needed my thermostat change. As soon as I was driving home, my car starts running hot. I make it home and the temperature gauge is in the red. I called Midas and asked why my car was smoking and overheating because it didn't do that before they changed my thermostat. I was told that there were other issues with my car and that's why it was overheating. When I asked what other issues, he couldn't tell me stating they only changed the thermostat.
I had my car inspected by another place and they stated that the thermostat housing was cracked. I contacted Midas and the manager stated that they didn't do it. "But you're the last ones to touch my car and replace the thermostat." Needless to say, it's a lesson learned. I will never use Midas' services again and anyone who tells me they're going there, I will let them know that Midas doesn't honor the work that they do. It's never their fault.

I went in to get a simple oil change and my inspection done. Magically, two of my tires need replacing and they claim that my horn doesn't work properly. I USED THE HORN THAT DAY AND IT WAS FINE. Anyway, they give me a quote that it's gonna cost 650 to get it to pass inspection. I panic a little, but agree. Then they come into the waiting area and inform me that my radiator is leaking and it's now going to cost 1333 to make it driveable.
Now I know they are pulling a fast one here, as I haven't had to add coolant in over a month. Now, as I sit here waiting for them to finish what they "have to do" the manager is complaining that I am writing a bad review, and that I shouldn't trust all the people who have left a bad review before me. He also seems to think I don't know how this works, and talks to me like I am a child. This company needs to be shut down.

I went to the Midas Muffler located in Kenwood, in Cincinnati, Ohio, very nice area. We are from Kentucky and saw the sign that said $19.99 Oil Change and tire rotation. They looked to be not busy, so we went in, got a quick oil change, and tire rotation. They gave me a sheet when done, that showed they had done a full check of my vehicle, and checked everything. The list was very long of all the things they check all over the car, and obviously the tires, since they rotated all 4, supposedly.
While driving home which was an hour away, we noticed what seemed to be a front tire sounding odd and the van drove funny, and we could hear some noise from the front. Next day we took it to my brother-in-law who has his own local garage. He put the van up on a rack and showed me one of the tires. It was nearly bald all over, with metal sticking through, about ready to cause the tire to explode. A 2nd tire was close to bald. He said this all had happened over time. No way it just happened. I asked if anyway that if they rotated the tires, they did not see this. He said do I see it, I said yes. And I know nothing about cars or tires, and I could see they were almost bald and metal showing through and he said extremely dangerous, and that we were lucky to have made the hour drive home.
I am very upset that they obviously did not rotate the tires, or they would have seen this, and they even checked off everything as good, nothing needing repairs. I would think they would want to find anything wrong to make more money. If they had shown me those 2 tires, I would have bought 2 on the spot and would not have taken them that long to install them, just pure Laziness on a slow day for them. They obviously did not feel like even doing the simplest of work on this slow day for them, very dishonest people. The manager himself said he inspects all vehicles after his people are done with them, so it was gone over supposedly by 2 people, both lied to me, and put my wife and I in danger of having an accident on the way home.
And after reading all of these complaints here about other Midas locations, I had to write my complaint. I agree, do not go here, many locations especially independently owned ones, could possibly damage your vehicle on purpose or lie about something it may need, that seems to me how some of their locations make money. And it seems that corporate says if it's independently owned, they can't help you. What bull is that. Location manager LIED right to my face in order to make a sale. Went to Midas for oil change, car is a 2014 but with 30k miles. They informed me I needed 2 tires and a quart of antifreeze. I shared that I was getting Cooper tires at DISCOUNT TIRE. Manager proceeded to show me the Cooper tire I wanted and then stated, "Discount no longer carries this tire." I asked him how he knew that, he showed me a Discount tire web page that didn't appear to have that tire. The price seemed reasonable and I did need the tires so I purchased 4. I got home and recalled having the care services 3 months prior and no fluids were required. A one year old car having no leaks shouldn't have required any anti freeze. So I called and shared my concern and asked for a $5.00 refund. Manager stated "You're calling me a liar and I don't appreciate that."
I shared again my rationale and he started to justify the charge and a few more times accused me of calling him a liar which I never did. I asked again for a refund and he stated "I gave you a $50.00 discount on the tires and you didn't even have a coupon, why would I take you for $5.00?" Here's what I learned after doing some research: DISCOUNT TIRE DOES carry that tire for a lower price, it's $100 less than Midas (for 4 tires). Also the manager did not give me a $50 discount....
Discount tire informed me that there is currently a $50 manufacturer rebate on that tire. And I learned that without a leak NO vehicle needs a quart of anti freeze 3 months after being checked as full. It isn't about the $5.00 or the $100... It's about honesty and respect. They were not honest with me which is disrespectful. Midas has lost my business and my word of mouth for life. Please take your money elsewhere and get treated with respect and honesty.

Long story short, they destroyed by cat converter (the back one). So I, thinking I had caused the problem, bought a bolt-in replacement which they installed in about ten minutes.
Year later, converter gave out, bought replacement, and installer cut the exhaust pipe for no logical reason and did horrible weld. Converter failed in 200 miles. Long story short, had to replace entire exhaust system (using competent mechanics), to the tune of over $400. To boot, it was all cash. I supplied parts, they pocket the cash - no record of transaction. Informed them they screwed me, and I and family (5 cars) would never return. They shrug, say "that's fine". So, back in February, my husband and I brought our car to Midas for some preventive maintenance before we went on a trip. Everything was working fine, just wanted to be sure it stayed that way. So we asked Midas to do an oil change and to check our brakes, and fix them if they needed it, and to do their free "road trip check." The oil change happened, then they remove all the tires and brakes, only to find (literally three hours into the job) that they don't have the brakes needed to fix ours. They put everything back together, and explain that brakes get into a certain groove after being used for a while, and they can't be put back together the same way.
So our car is unsafe to drive, but we can bring it back the next day. We leave, and promptly discover we have no brakes. We go flying through an intersection on a red light and, along with our three children, narrowly miss being hit by another car. We have to stop at a Pep Boys a half mile out and see if they can help us. We find there that however they put the brakes together at Midas has caused additional damage and we now have to replace the rotors as well. It cost us almost $700, as well as missed hotel reservations (another $200) and my father-in-law's memorial service was missed. Our car had to be at Pep Boys for about a week to repair.
The night we brought the car in, I called their corporate office to file a complaint. I have called them countless times and it has been "escalated internally" which means, I can only assume, that they hang up and laugh about the stupid customers that still bring their cars to this joke of a business. The branch manager will not contact me, and will not acknowledge the receipt I have from Pep Boys as proof that they messed up. Honestly, I have faxed it to them and sent him a copy through the BBB website and he claims to never have seen it. Between corporate and the independent branches, this company does not value their customers, they do not care if they cause you harm or cost you additional money, they don't care that you need the work to be done right the first time, and they will not admit to any wrongdoing on their end. Do not take your car to Midas.

Service guy ** did apologize and rotated my tires and stopped the other idiot before he said anything worse. Now my car is making a weird noise and I don't want to deal with them directly. I called the 1-800 number to complain and it seemed like the lady took my information didnt care either. She took a brief statement of what happened and asked me, "Do you want a call back from person who handles these problems?" I'm like, "Yes", then she said it be a week before anyone calls me back and I'm still waiting - it's been 2 weeks. It seems like no one cares! This service guy ** stepped up and handled everything but then again he's the one who told me my tires had been rotated to begin with. I will never go there again and I will tell all my family and friends to stay away from there. I live in a small town and know a lot of people here. I will definitely let it known the service there is horrible!

The Midas store in Clearwater, Florida tried to sell me cheap shocks for a very large price. Subcompact car shocks for a Frontier Nissan 4x4 $70.00 each and $210.00 labour for 15 min. of work. They also cut the CV boot on the right front wheel drive axle. I checked under the truck before I went so I would not see any surprises and they were both intact.

I went to the Midas in Huntington Beach with my sister in law after she brought her car back for the same problem 4x's. The manager ** originally greeted us with a "Hi, can I help you?" My sister in law told ** that she had to take the car to another mechanic and he discovered that her air conditioning system was repaired improperly and that part of the factory wiring harness had been cut. Now it is going to cost over $800.00 to repair the wiring harness including the cost of parts and labor. ** became very angry and defensive stating the the other mechanic could have cut the harness.
My sister in law stated that she had taken the car to the other mechanic as the A/C was not working again! ** then said this would be out of his hands and he would have to discuss with the General Manager **. I asked where the General Manager ** was. He said at their Tustin Store. I asked ** to get him on the phone, as we want a refund on the work Midas performed as the entire A/C system was installed wrong. Wires were cut then haphazardly repaired and this caused another failure. ** called **, who started out trying to talk over me.
I advised him this was not going to work for me, and that my sister in law wanted a refund on the work that this Midas shop did. ** immediately refused any refund, stating that Midas needs another chance to repair the car. I advised ** that after 4x's and Midas always finding a reason to charge her more more money, this was no longer an option. I tried to explain to ** that they received one more chance than is required by state law to repair the car. He said this was not true and he knew the laws for the Bureau of Automotive Repair. I told him that I have a copy with me of this law and I could fax it to him where he was, he then hung up. I asked ** to call him back, he said he would not. I asked to use his phone, he said "NO!" He just wants me to leave as I was disrupting his business.
I advised him that I would leave when this matter was resolved and for him to just refund $832.00. He said he could not do that. ** was the only one who could do that. I called ** several more times, and each time he refused to refund the money for the work and damage done to my sister in law's car. I asked ** to have ** look at the car in the parking lot, and I can show him the damage. ** said that I could not order his employee around as I was telling ** to take a look. ** then hung up again. I opened the hood for **, showed him the damage and where the wires had been cut, he then walked away abruptly went back into the office.
After 5 minutes I went back into the office found ** on the phone with the Huntington Beach Police Department. ** was telling the police department he wanted me physically removed from the store and or arrested. He then handed me the phone and I spoke to the office. He asked what the problem was and I explained the circumstances. The office understood and stated that the police department would not be sending out an officer as the police cannot settle a civil dispute.
My sister in law now in tears just wants to go away from Midas and this horrible man who would call the police and have her brother in law who is trying to not let this man mow her over as has been done in the past get arrested. I tried to talk to this shop and the powers that be all they want to do is try to get more money from this woman who they thought would be a cash cow for the shop, and also her brother in law who refuses to allow this type of activity go on. Upon my exit I asked ** to have this ** person meet with me. He said I could go to him. I advised ** I and my sister in law has been inconvenienced and he needs to come to me. That request was refused. My guess is that this owner of this franchise also owns 2 more in Tustin and Encinatas CA.
This next weekend I believe myself and a few others in the family will pay a visit to the other locations and with signs in hand and our vehicles as billboards picket this owners other franchises. Which is allowed by the 1st amendment. As I told **, I will not go away until things have been justified. BTW due to other complaints across the country on the C/A website, if I were you STAY AWAY FROM MIDAS AT ALL COSTS. A complaint has also been filed with the Bureau of Automotive Repair, and legal action against the Owner and Midas Corporate may be filed. Oh Midas will tell me that they have no responsibility but that is pure garbage. Their name on the sign, franchisees pay money to the corporate offices for support and advertising, and under federal law they are also responsible. Look out Midas, others may be coming against you armed with this information.

I took my 2006 Saturn Vue to Midas Mufflers in Stockton. After I was there for a while when the gentle informed me that my threads came out of my oil pan when they pulled the plug out. I never heard of such a thing then they charged me 15$ more for a wing nut plug. They call it told they could put a new oil pan about 800.00 dollars. I just told them to put that cheap plug in and left. This is the second time I've had a issue with them. They never get another dime of my money again. Very poor business. So now I have to find someone to put a oil pan in my car.

Took our pick up in for safety and emissions for the license plate renewal. My husband goes back to pick it up and we are told it failed the steering and needs a new lower ball joint. They gave my husband an estimate of $1,350! I just about fainted. I told my husband I wanted to call the dealership before we did it - just didn't sound right.
Went into the dealership today and waited to write this review until it was completed to make sure I wasn't missing something that was in their estimate. Yep $343.01 was the total bill at a Ford dealership. Midas wanted $1,350 for a $343.01 job. I think they thought we had money and would just pay it. Well guess what...people with money usually also have a brain! Don't go to Midas! Get your service done at the dealership for 25% of the cost of doing it at Midas!
