I went to this Jiffy Lube location to get a simple oil change as I was simply feeling too lazy to do it myself as I usually do. They tried to inform me that my windshield wiper blades were badly damaged and I could have vision problems if it rained again. That seemed a little odd to me as I had just put them on 2 weeks ago and they worked perfectly fine the previous night during a heavy downpour. Not only that, but they didn't do any of the signature service.

On the receipt it says that I declined to have my windows washed and floor vacuumed. It says that they filled my windshield washer fluid but when I checked the next day it was only 1/4 full. Now here is the kicker, as I was standing there near the end I watched some little old lady drive in in a brand new looking Toyota Camry, they told her that she needed this that and the other and if she didn't her car would break down before long. I didn't say anything but I should have, that simply isn't right.

On May 2, 2008, I took my Volkswagen Beetle in for an oil change. I was offered a free car wash, 50% off my next oil change, and used a $10 coupon off. I have been going to this store since 2004 because it is close to my home. I am a single parent and sole support of two children, and drive alot for work, from Seabrook to Dover 5 days a week. On May 8th the temperature light came on, and my children noticed there was no coolant and filled it up. On May 9th, after a 40 minute drive to work, I smelled smoke from the vehicle. That night I added 2 quarts of oil. On the way home, at 2am at the Hampton tollbooth on Route 95, the engine seized.

I took the car to a mechanic and he said that Jiffylube never put any oil in it. I went back to the store to complain and there was no manager there, but a worker who laughed at me. I was jeered at while leaving the store. I have called the 800 number to request a complete list of the service dates for this car. I asked who the owner was of the Seabrook store and was told that this was one of the few stores that is owned by the company. I am in the process of writing a letter to the company, the attorney general's office, and the better business bureau.

engine seized, cost of new engine 5,000. Car had $6,000 left for payments. Needed to ask for $10,000 from a friend to pay for balance of seized car and make a down payment on a new beetle.

I have serviced my vehicles at jiffylube for a few years and never had any issues. Unfortunately I was not as fortunate on my last visit. At their recommendation I had them fill my car with synthetic oil because my vehicle had approximately 46,000 miles and they told me that synthetic oil costs more but that it is better as your milege increases. They also told me that oil change intervals increase to 6000 miles using synthetic oil instead of the standard 3000 miles with regular oils. This oil change took place Nov. 30 2007.

I left the station thinking everything was fine. I drove my vehicle approximately 5000 miles and I began to hear an unusual sound. I looked under the hood, under the suspension during the course of 2 weeks trying to find the nature of the noise. On 5/13/2008 on my way home from work the noise began to get noticeably louder so I finally decided to check the oil. To my surprise there was no oil at all on the dipstick. I immediately went to my storage shed and found 1 1/4 quarts of oil which I put in my car. I checked the dipstick and still no visible sign of oil.

I told my wife then I called Jiffylube. I asked who I was speaking to and the person who answered told me her name was Mari. She went on to tell me she was a manager at the location. I asked her to pull up the record on the last service on my car and she told me. Then I explained to her the situation. She went on to tell me that on my last visit that they had recommended that I change the antifreeze in my car which I had refused. She said that maybe the antifreeze had broken down causing my car to burn oil. I told her that there was no way that that type of condition could explain the type of oil loss I was describing. I told her that there was no visible sign of oil on the dipstick at all. Her response to this was that 1 quart low could account for this condition. I told her that I would like to agree with her but that I had pulled out what I had in my storage shed (1 1/4 quarts) and put it in my engine and that the dipstick still did not show anything. At this point she said to drive in and that they would gladly top off my car. I asked her what time they closed and she told me 6 p.m. I got there at 5:30 p.m. and 2 mechanics along with Mari were waiting.

They pulled my car into the bay. One mechanic got under the hole and he yelled up to Mari that the oil plug showed no signs of being tampered with and that there were no signs of oil leaks anywhere. Then she directed the other mechanic to remove the radiator cap and check the antifreeze which checked out fine. At this point she went into the office while I stood in the garage area with the 2 mechanics. Approximately 8 minutes later a dark full sized SUV pulled up and a large man walked up to me and said, I'm the manager. What do you want me to do about this? My response, If in fact you are the manager then tell me what you're going to do for me because I spoke with Mari over the phone and she told me she was the manager and she told me to come in and that my car would be topped off

He then went into the office and returned telling me that I had not had my car serviced in six months and that I already had over 5000 miles since the service. I told him that I knew this and that they had told me that the oil change intervals were good for 6000 miles with synthetic oil at which point he explained that the warranty is 3 months or 6000 miles. He then went on to say that because of the 3 month clause but mostly because of my attitude that he did not have to top off my engine. That's when I told him that I did not come in with an attitude. I explained to him that I had told Mari and the 2 mechanics that there was no doubt in my mind that an honest mistake had been made. Maybe one mechanic thought that another had filled my car. At that point I told him that I did not need his attitude and that he had lost 2 long time customers. (My wife and I) I told them that I would take my business elsewhere.

I immediately drove to Autozone and bought 4 quarts of synthetic oil and my car took 2 more full quarts. Altogether my vehicle was down 3 1/4 quarts. Right now my car is being worked on and will need a partial overhaul. The mechanic told me that the noise is a cracked piston. Unfortunately I have learned a costly but valuable lesson. In the future I will be checking my dipstick before I leave the service station lot when I have my car serviced. There was no question in my mind that this belligerent manager was going to deny any responsibility. I really did not know what recourse if any I had under these circumstances.

The mechanic I took my vehicle to is going to charge me 1,500 for the overhaul and I am currently out of a car for 1 week if all goes well.

On 3/27/08 Jiffy Lube store located 1802 N. Parsons Ave., Seffner, Florida 33584 (Store #989) serviced my girlfriend's car (2000 Daewoo Nubira). I took the car and had it serviced as a surprise to her. Total cost of service was $193.64. The service done included: engine flush, oil change and transmission fluid flush and change. The car smoked a lot after this service and would clear up after some driving. The big reason for getting this full service was becasue we were moving to Georgia and wanted to make sure the car was in tip top shape.

Four days after that, we started out on our final move from Brandon, Florida to our now home in Monroe, Georgia. As we were almost past Gainesville, Florida her car shot a rod. The engine just blew!! This almost caused an accident because something from the blow shot up from the road and hit the car behind me on the highway. We had the car towed that night (3/31/08) to a shop in Gainesville and contacted Jiffy Lube shortly after that. Jiffy Lube sent an investigative group to check the validity of the claim that their service caused the engine to blow. On April 3rd their Customer Service rep Steve Tynan informed me that they could not substainiate that it was due to their service. Without removing the engine at our cost no more could or would be done. End of story case closed!

Since the car was my girlfriend's means of getting to work she was then forced to get another car. Due to poor credit history she was forced to get a co-signer, luckily her mother agreed to do so. The economic issue of having a $200 service 4 days prior, loss of the vehicle because it was no longer driveable, and the expense of a new car (used but new to us) was an additional $10,000 plus then add the financing to that! Jiffy Lube offered no reimbursement of any kind!

I paid for a oil change, and it came to my attention that after my car was pulled out I checked my oil and it was as dirty as it was before, so I told the person who took the car in about it, and he responded in a very mean way, he asked for my car keys and drove my car like a maniac back in. I did not like that at all so I stopped him and asked him to give me my car back. So at this point I will contact my attorney to address this issue and I will take further action about this possible scam at your place.

It made me very upset, I can hear a noise in car engine after being accelerated in the way the salesman did it.

May 3rd took my truck into jiffy lube for oil change. Staff was reving my engine up because they wanted to hear my loud exhaust. I got a letter in the mail from my bank stating that I had made charges on my account with nothing to cover it. I go to the bank and they show me the charges from a card that I havent used in 2 years! The charges started on the 4th of may. The only people that were in my truck from the 3rd to the 4th were the slackers at jiff lube. The card was buried in the console of my truck, so someone went looking through the compartments and found what they were looking for evidentaly. I filed 2 police reports with different departments as the card was used in different but local towns around the jiffy lube. DONT GO THERE!

As a result the bank automatically transfered the mony from my savings account to cover the charges screwing up my finances. In the end I didnt have to repay for the charges made on the card while it was stolen. The manager said he doesnt believe me and that I am looking for someone to blame because of my loosing the card.

4/26/08 brought 1993 Range Rover into Jiffy Lube on La Brea and Melrose for it's 3000 Mile Oil change as have since 2006 and was up sold on a transmission flush... drove car home 1 1/2 miles and parked it where it remained overnight, next morning 4/27 got in car to drive to Palm Springs from Los Angeles at 6:00 am turned on engine and noted low coolant light light displayed so delayed trip immediately and went into subject Jiffy Lube and asked for a manager and communicated coolant light trouble.

Assistant Manager Alex claimed he worked on the car the day before and looked under hood and opened coolant reservoir and claimed coolant was low due to the need to settle fluids as a result of radiator flush, he topped it off and told me car was ok to drive to Palm Springs now.

Departed LA for Palm Springs got as far as East LA and coolant light came on again, pulled over into Mobile station lifted hood and observed coolant reservoir tank spraying coolant from tank, bought big bottle of coolant from mobile station unwound cap and poured in coolant, coolant light no longer displayed. Next used GPS on blackberry to locate nearest Jiffy Lube, 6 miles west on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles, arrived at Sunset Jiffy Lube and was told that work warranty would have to be performed at Jiffy Lube where service was provided as each store is a franchise, was offered a top up of the coolant and dialed La Brea store number, spoke to Alex and was told to drive back to his shop where he would fix the problem.

Arrived Alex looked at the car and expressed that I should take the car to my mechanic as the reservoir was clearly leaking and was told not Jiffy Lube's problem. Drove car home after Alex topped off Coolant and left it overnight.

Next day took car into Rover shop ( they only work on Rover's) and was told radiator hoses were loose and that coolant tank needed to be replaced, and engine tested $200 plus dollars later was told car failed engine test and that problem was bigger than thought. I authorized mechanic to investigate thoroughly which required removing engine block to reveal cylinder sleeves and that a very small leak in engine was now present and that the only way to fix the problem with certainty would be to replace the engine at an estimated cost of $4800.

Next day called Jiffy Lube and requested to ask who to speak to in order to remedy what my mechanic referred to as gross negligence by Jiffy Lube for not tightening the radiator hoses and or bleeding the radiator after flushing radiator and refreshing coolant, which resulted in air rather than coolant flowing through the radiator which resulted in engine failure and leak. Louis franchise manager at Alamitos Enterprises / Jiffy lube sent their inspector to view my car and four days later told me they would not take responsibility for problem. May 9th 2008 have faxed Alamitos Enterprises Llc (Jiffy Lube) a letter of demand to fix and pay for the damages.

i asked for the price and he told me it was a ridiculous 105.00. i was shocked by the price and i asked why i can not use regular oil. he said if you use regular oil it will [mess] up your motor. i then hung up immediately and felt very disrespected. also i want to add that while he was talking to me i could hear him calling someone my [expletive] i am talking to a customer. at that very moment i thought that was very profound and obserd to say while i was trying to speak to him.

after i hung up, i drove their to speak to the manager about my phone call i made. he spoke to me with tremendous respect and honesty about the employee i spoke with about my vehicle. he told me he was very sorry about that and it won't happen again. he then said, so, how can i help you today. i said i need a oil change on my vehicle. he said what kind of car is it? i said it was a 2001 mercedes benz C230. he then said immediatly umm... you know you have to use sythetic oil right? i said no, but that is what one of your guys said while i was on the phone with him. he then said in a very smart kind of way then what do you think? i said excuse me. he said well apparently you don't know much about your car sir. i said you are right i don't but, my son does. he works for mercedes benz and he told me i can use what ever oil i want.

the manager then said well then your son is a complete dumb [expletive]. he also added that i tell him which mercedes dealership my son works for. i said that does not matter. he then said it does because i know people at mercedes benz. he then called me a lier. yes a lier, can you believe that. i said how dare you talk to me this way. he said i can talk to you how ever i want because i am the owner of this store and nobody will find out about this either. i said i will make a customer complaint towards you. he said if you do that we will have some serious problems. he actually threatened me, yes a manager of jiffy lube!

he then told me to [expletive] off and go home to [expletive] my mother you piece of [expletive] customer! then he walked back into the shop without a a care in the world! i then left in hate and anger. i told my wife what happened and she said to write a complaint on this web site. so i did and i will never ever go to another jiffy lube again. total disrepect and i don't know how people go their all the time. i wish to tell everyone who reads this to not go to commack jiffy lube again.

by the way i found out the managers full name and it is joe meyerherm. he was dumb enough to me give one of his cards before my confrontation happened with him while i was deciding. i have been trying to get in touch with the real owners who run that place specifically. but no one has got back to me yet. so i hope this gets me somewhere. thank you very much.

I took my 95 Bonneville to Jiffy Lube for an oil change on March 16, 2008 at the 2551 Western Ave, Park Forest, IL location. A month later my heads blew in my engine due to the technician not tightening my radiator cap and I immediately went to the Park Forest location to inform them what happened. I spoke with the manager Calvin regarding this issue with my engine, he stated an investigation will take place and they will determine if they can fix my car. Days later, I was informed that Jiffy Lube was not going to fix my engine because there was not enough antifreeze splashed around the engine. Jiffy lube did not complete the investigation within hours; it took days so naturally the antifreeze that was splashed on the engine was dried by that time. My engine was running well until I took it to Jiffy Lube for an oil change.

I took the car back up to him and he looked it over and said he couldnt find anything wrong I advised him that I would have to take the car to the Chevy dealer to have them check it, Chris told me that if they did anything wrong that they would take care of it. The Chevy dealer called me and told me that the cabin filter seal was not put back on properly, I had him call Chris and Chris went to the dealer to check it out. Chris called me on the phone to inform me that he has talked to other dealers and that the seal shaking out of place is a common problem on the 2004 Monte Carlo. Thats news to me. I went in for an oil change in February. At the end of the job they reported that they lost or damaged five of my lug nut caps. They promised to order them and replace them. I have been through this before so I requested that the manager give me a note stating that they would replace the caps. He said to check back in a week and he would have them. When I returned, he was no longer with the company but I showed the note to the new manager who said there were no lug caps ordered but he would do so. He said to check back in a week. One week later, still no lug caps. for about a month I would get a call saying that the caps had not come in. Now I no longer get calls and I still have no lug caps. Here's the thing; I came in for an oil change. I allowed their high-pressure sales people to sell me a wheel rotation. Basically, I trusted them with my car. After performing the wheel rotation, they have damaged my lug caps and aren't too eager to get them replaced. I am now thinking that if I had told them no in the first place, I would still have my lug caps. Moreover, I am a former mechanic. I have ordered enough parts from dealers to know that it does not take three months to order lug nut caps. Especially for a car as common as a Pontiac Montana. Don't you not think that it is a problem for a customer to trust your store with his vehicle and he gets it returned in less of a condition than when he trusted it to them? I do. I do know this, Jiffy Lube won't do my next oil change.

My wife took her Hyundai Santa Fe in for a standard oil change and was talked into a change of transmission fluid. Prior to taking the vehicle into this particular store the vehicle was not leaking any fluid. Following the service the vehicle began seriously leaking power steering fluid. Apparently the technician may have either loosened the connecting hose or loosened the plug that is associated with the power steering when draining the transmission fluid. When I attempted to have the weekend assistant manager pull it onto the block to look underneath I was basically told it's not their problem that they don't service power steering, and as I attempted to explain they may have caused the leak I was told that's my problem.

My wife was nearly involved in a serious accident as she had no steering while driving down a very fast moving street at 45MPH and had zero control of the vehicle. Additionally the fluid has drained into my driveway as-well-as the street in front of my home. Right now as a direct result of this I fear the steering may be damaged. I have parked the vehicle until I can get it into a certified Hyundai dealership.

I went to Jiffy Lube on 4/19/08 to have a routine oil change. The girl at the counter said that the only thing that the computer was saying I needed was to have my tires rotated, so I said ok. It seemed to take a long time for the guy to rotate my tires but I thought, no it's fine, they know what they are doing. I was uncomfortable with the fact that it only takes a couple of seconds to lossen up each lugnut on the tire and this guy was spending a lot of time using the instrument that takes them off, but I thought, no they know what they are doing. So when he was finally done I went home.

The next day my boyfriend went outside and came back in and told me that my front drivers side tire was flat. So I called up Jiffy lube and told them what happened and he stated that it had nothing to do with them since all they did was rotate them. He was not nice at all so I decided to go somewhere else to have it fixed. My boyfriend started to take the flat tire off and when he got to the last lugnut, it broke in half. I called up Big 10 Tires and asked if they could fix it and they said yes. So we put the spare tire on and went there. After looking at ALL the tires the man came and got me and stated that he wanted to show me something. He brought me out to my car and asked me who the last person was who did anything to my tires. I told him that I just had them rotated the day before at Jiffy Lube. He then showed me that EVERY lugnut on my car was put on BACKWARDS! He told me that at anytime my tires could have come off while I was driving.

While he was trying to fix the problem another one of the lugnuts broke from being put on the wrong way, which cost me even more money to have fixed. While I was there I called back to Jiffy Lube and told the guy what was going on and he said to bring it to him to look at. I told him that I was at Big 10 Tires and they were fixing it and he told me that if they're fixing that there was nothing they could do for me. So I hung up on him because I was soooo furious with him. I could have been in an accident and been hurt or worse, hurt someone else due to the negligence of the people who work at Jiffy Lube and on top of that for him to be rude was unacceptable.

After paying for them to $19.99 to have them rotated at Jiffy Lube, I then had to go to Big 10 Tires and pay $72.73 to have their mistakes fixed by someone who knew what they were doing.

I waited for them to finish my car and waited for an explanation. But nothing was said so I asked the technician, Was there a problem with my car, I saw you banging on it He proceeded to tell me about the poor craftsmanship of Chrsyler, Dodge, Plymouth and told me I should not bring my car to Jiffy Lube but instead should take it to a dealership

It is now March and I was contemplating where I should take my car for service, remembering what Jiffy Lube had told me and trying to make a decision of where to take my car for service. On Friday, 4/4/08 on my way home from work I heard this loud noise, I pulled my car over and looked underneath and found that the bottom piece of my car had come off. I had to take my car in for immediate service.

The Chrysler dealer stated that the last time I took my car in for service, 12/28/08 to Jiffy Lube, 5 bolts and 2 clips were left off. Jiffy Lube could have caused major damage to my car or other highway traffic if I had not stopped to see what all the noise was my car was making. The part could have flown completely off and hit someone or had to have been replaced. When I got home that evening, and went to get my computer out of the trunk, the laptop was missing. Giving Jiffy Lube the benefit of the doubt, I scoured my home, my vehicle, my boyfriend's home, and asked my parents to do a sweep of their home as well. It was nowhere to be found. I tried to call the Jiffy Lube store I had visited, and they had no answering machine. The line is also a fax line, so I was unable to leave any type of message.

The next day, when I contacted the corporate offices, I was told by the general manager that this location conveniently lacks surveillance. Besides, as I had not notified them the day the laptop went missing, he also advised me that he was unable to do any type of search at this point. Thus, he advised, he was obligated to take the word of his employees that the laptop was not stolen from my vehicle. This is because, he says, others have lobbied complaints about the store, only to find their items between or under the seats. No repercussions, no consequences, no way to prove the store stole the laptop, and no investigation of the situation. I have promised a full apology should I find my laptop between the seats of my car.

The laptop cost me approximately $1200 when I purchased it a year ago. Jiffy Lube will not take any type of responsibility. This location lacks any type of surveillance that might hold them responsible for ANY type of misgivings that may take place here.

Of note there was no leak before taking to their shop.

Our van needed an oil change as soon as we could. So I had my wife take it to Jiffy Lube. I told her to only get an oil changed and nothing else, since I know they try to sell you as much service as they possibly can. After the vehicle was in getting serviced, a technician came in (if you want to call them that) and told her she needed a fuel filter. She of course said no. They went on to explain that the fuel filter was rusted and not just surface rust, but rusted all the way through, from the inside out. I'm glad she listened to what I said about not taking any other service no matter what they said. She told me when she got home what they said.

So I looked up the service schedule for the vehicle. It said our particular vehicle needs an inspection of the fuel filter at 60,000 and replace as needed. So I went out and climbed under the vehicle and took a look for myself. It was not rusted at all, not a hint of rust; it looked like it was new. This makes me really mad since they tried to take advantage of her. They wanted to charge $49.99 for a $10 filter, and I know it would only take about 10 minutes to replace it myself.

This isn't the first time this has happened. They also wanted to replace the license plate bulbs and turn signal bulbs in a brand new vehicle. I said no and drove the vehicle to a parts store to take a look, and nothing needed replacing. Only reason I had the wife take this vehicle to JL is because I couldn't get the drain plug out. We will never take another vehicle to a Jiffy Lube or any other such place again--only to my trusted mechanic.

The overheating caused the thermostat to blow. What was worse is that I called Pep Boys, they informed me of what the problem may be, and when I went to Jiffy Lube the next morning letting them know the info, the manager completely dismissed it and told me it was my fault because I just needed a new thermostat which had nothing to do with what they did. I asked him to check the system to make sure I had no air pockets, and he told me that it was impossible and wouldn't even look at it.

I went to a mechanic and they informed me that all fault was Jiffy Lube's. They did not do the work properly as for my car model, the radiator sits in a different position in the car and when you add the antifreeze you must add it through the hose and not the standard way. The car overheating, thermostat blowing, was caused because of the lack of antifreeze. The repair was $200.00.

I took my car to a local jiffy lube in Waukegan, Il to receive an oil change. Days after receiving my service the car had been running bad and coolant light flashing. After returning to Jiffy Lube, I was told that there was a problem with the sensor light. I took it to my Chevy Dealership to remedy the problem. They informed me that oil had been placed in the antifreeze resulting in engine problems. After returning to Jiffy Lube, they expressed that although they may have done it, they weren't able to repair the problem and I would have to go to 'Jiffy Lube international' (JLI) to have my money returned to me after repairing.

After contacting JLI and entering a claim, Jeffrey Benefield said that a part was recalled on the vehicle resulting in the mixture of oil and antifreeze. I immediately went to my Chevy Dealership only to be told that there was no such recall, and if there was, the two parts do not intersect with each other. None the less, i repeatedly called Mr Benefield to relay the situation, only to have my calls and messages not returned. Months of calls later I eventually used an alias name to speak to him and my call was accepted. After finally explaining my findings, I was told the information they had confirming a recall would be faxed to me and of course I received NO FAX! After trying to find a corporate headquarters to complain through the company, I was unsuccessful. I NEED HELP!!

Oil was placed in the antifreeze compartment resulting in oil raising through engine hoses and getting into intake gasket. A full engine flush was required, hoses replaced and new intake gasket. The dealership quoted $1,700, but I found a reasonable mechanic that charged me $700. During this time I had to rent a vehicle during the repair phase.

We drove back to jiffy lube and told them the problem, we asked if they had put in the proper transmission fluid. They said that would never happen and to bring it back the next morning and they would fix it. So we had to try and drive our car home.

We called volvo and they said a v40 turbo needed a special type of transmission fluid. We called jiffy lube and they agreed that they put in the wrong type, they located the proper fluid, had me come in, and changed the fluid. When I was waiting, one of the guys said that their computer was wrong and it was their fault that this happened and it would be easy to fix. After an hour and a half of waiting they took the car around the parking lot and said it was driving fine. I thanked them and drove out of the parking lot and around the corner when it started losing power and having problems with the gears. I drove it right back and told the tech to get into the car with me to see what I was talking about. I drove a few feet with the tech in the car and it happened again.

He said that this problem would be fixed that they would send a tow truck to my house to pickup the car that day. That never happened. My husband called them and then they started asking questions and saying that it was a preexisting condition. My car was driving perfectly and had no problems before this. The general manager called and said that it is not their fault and are now doing nothing about it. So I now have a broken car sitting in my drive way and jiffy lube are not taking responsibility for them messing up.

I purchased a used vehicle in Idaho and was driving it home. On my way home I happened through Spokane, Washington, and saw a Jiffy Lube open on a Sunday. I decided that since it was a used car (had driven it with no problems approximately 500 miles before I got to the Jiffy Lube), I would get the oil changed. The technician stated that my coolant was not good for a low temperature (according to him only good to +10F) and suggested a coolant flush, I bought it. I left the store after that, and the heater was blowing cold air. Figuring that it was new coolant and needed a chance to warm up, I paid little attention to it. After going approximately 5-10 miles the overheat light came on, and within a few miles the oil light came on. I called the shop and described the problems I was having, and he requested that I return it to another shop. Then he stated that the other shop wasn't answering their phones so he wasn't sure they were open. He asked it I could get it back to him at the original shop. Not knowing whether it was going to break down or not, I told him I would try to get it back.

Unfortunately on my way to his shop, the car died and preceded to catch on fire due to no coolant in the system. I contacted them, and the manager (Charles) and he stated that they had made a mistake by not checking the vehicle prior to it leaving. Evidently they are required when doing a coolant change to start the vehicle and let it burp to ensure that the coolant level was proper. It was not done, and now the car sits with electrical damage. The car was purchased used with no expressed or written warranty.

The vehicle is not a total loss but will require approximately $1000 worth of repairs to get it back up and running properly. The Jiffy Lube in question denied all claims of wrong-doing. Currently I am working on a resolution on this problem and have contacted the corporate office of Jiffy Lube. I have also contacted the owner of the Jiffy Lube as well as the car dealership that I purchased the car from. I am at this point an emotional wreck from this, as the car is more than 240 miles away in some mechanic's shop that does not do any work on electrical systems.

The following is a chain of events that Iv'e noticed that took place with my vehicle since having my oil changed at Jiffy Lube (Store #2103):

On January 19, 2008 at 9:15 a.m., I drove my vehicle to Marietta. On my way back home, a symbol on the dashboard flashed and the car started to rattle and shack. A light came on the dashboard saying trans over temp? A translucent smoke started to come from the front of the vehicle under the hood. I turned into my complex and parked the vehicle immediately at the front of the complex. I got out of the vehicle and noticed that oil was leaking from the front of the vehicle under the engine area. I popped the hood and noticed a small fire. I left the vehicle parked at the front and came to my apartment.

At 2:32 p.m., I called Jiffy Lube and spoke with the Manger Ivan Mann. He informed me that the following items were performed on my vehicle: 1. a total of 6 quarts of oil (10W 30) was put in my vehicle; 2. the tire pressure was checked; 3. windshield washer fluid topped; 4. power steering fluid topped; 5. transmission fluid topped; and 6. the battery water was checked. Mr. Mann indicated that my vehicle required service on: transmission, transfer case, radiator and gear box. Mr. Mann asked if I could drive the vehicle to Jiffy Lube but I indicated to him that if I drove the vehicle, it would probably cause more damage. At that point, Mr. Mann stated that he would come to look at my vehicle to see what was wrong with it. At 2:41 p.m., Mr. Mann called me back and stated that after speaking with his District Manager, Tyrone McKenzie, he could not leave his store unattended but mentioned that he would come look at my vehicle when he got off of work at 5:30 p.m. However, he never showed up or called.

On January 20, 2008, my mechanic came to my residence, where the car was located, and reviewed my vehicle. My mechanic informed me that there was too much oil put into my vehicle and it flooded. Since the extra oil had no where to go, it caused the vehicle to smoke and have a small fire which possibly caused the head gasket to bust. After finding out this information, I immediately called Mr. Mann and stated to him what my mechanic told me and I expressed how disappointed I was in this service and asked what he could do to fix this problem. He said that I could come into the store and fill out a complaint form. I told him that it would be impossible for me to do that since I don't have a working vehicle. I asked for his fax number to the store and a number to the District Managers office which he kept referring me to the 1-800 number on the back of my receipt. At that point, I ended the conversation. I feel that Jiffy Lube wrongfully and negligently serviced my vehicle and I would like for the damages be repaired immediately. I am a full-time mother of five children and must provided food, clothing and shelter to them. Without a vehicle, this is virtually impossible. I have been forced to rent a vehicle from Enterprise which will cost more money that I do not have. At some point, I will probably need to take time off of work which will be an even bigger problem.

I brought my vehicle in for a routine oil change on December 6, 2007. Jiffy Lube serviced the vehicle, sending me home with a report of everything that they checked. This report assured me that all my oil and fluid levels had been checked and filled, if necessary. This report clearly states that the level of the transmission /transaxle oil was full. On December 27t,h I was driving to work and my vehicle began making loud banging and grinding noises. I brought it to a service station near my place of business and they found that the transmission oil was burned, black and low...nearly empty. This caused severe damange to the front end differential and ultimately the transmission. While the vehicle is an older one, the previous owner assured me that he had replaced the transmission just the year before and it had been running well prior to our visit to Jiffy Lube. (We had purchased the vehicle just before Thanksgiving of 2007.)

We ended up having to replace the entire transmission as the low fluids had caused part of the unit to literally melt. We were out of the use of our vehicle for 3 weeks as they had difficulty locating a used transmission that would fit the make and model of our car. The total cost of these repairs including parts, labor and taxes came to roughly $1900.00. Realizing that the bluebook value of the car is less than this, we decided to repair it anyway because we simply could not afford to purchase a new vehicle that wouldn't have similar or worse problems at this time. The repair bill caused us to use most of our savings. We are a single income family (my husband is disabled) and this has caused a great deal of financial strain. Due to the distance of my place of employment from our home, I cannot be without a vehicle so the repairs were imparative. I believe Jiffy Lube should be held responsible for their negligence because there was no evidence of a leak within the old transmission. Therefore, either they did not check the level and just said they did, or they did not seal the cap properly and it came loose. There is no other way I could have lost that much fluid in such a small space of time.

I wondered what was taking so long when I was the only customer there. When the tech pulled the car around, I got in and the brake pedal sunk to the floor. I went back in to the counter where the tech admitted he had no brakes when he pulled out. He got back in and pulled the car around to the service bay, and nearly hit me as he went by. He then took me down into the pit to show me all the brake fluid that had leaked out at one of the line's compression fittings. The car had been serviced this summer by the local (very reputable) Acura dealer, including a brake service, during scheduled service. There were finger prints on the brake line. Being winter, you could see where oily fingers had touched the dirty line near the compression fitting. His comment was what could he do? They don't even service brakes. I drove home very carefully using the gears and handbrake until it can be serviced by the dealer.

We continued with a verbal altercation with them calling me names in Spanish and the gentleman who wanted to fight stated to the other tech that this is why he hates whites. While I was paying $89.00 for my incomplete oil change, the tech, while seated in another family's car, asked my friend what she was staring at, stating what are you looking at, do you like me, you must want me? This angered another female customer with kids behind us to the point that she wanted her husband to leave Jiffy Lube.

A regional manager has contacted me in this dispute telling me that derogatory comments were made by me which is what provoked these employees. I told him to pull the video of the incident and he stated they were in the process of pulling the audio and video and would have another district manager call me on Monday.

Monday Dec 03, 2007, my car got stuck in a huge puddle of water which caused the car to stop running. After the car dried out, I started the car and went home. The following morning, Dec 04, 2007, I drove to Jiffy Lube which is a couple of miles from where I live. Jiffy Lube did an Oil System Flush which they said I needed and changed the Oil. Less then 5 mintues from Jiffy Lube my car blew on 520. I coasted to a stop on the side of the road. I checked my Car's engine and noticed that no oil was on the dip stick. I then checked the road and did not notice any oil residue on the road. I called Jiffy Lube and told them what happened. Jiffy lube sent their mechanic out and he checked the oil. The Jiffy Lube mechanic whom I was standing next to pulled the dip stick and did not see any oil on the dip stick. The mechanic went back to his car and pick up two quarts of oil. The mechanic then put the two quarts of oil in my car and check the oil on the dip stick. The Jiffy Lube mechanic went back to his car and picked up a third quart of oil and put it in my car. The mechanic then looked under my car and saw oil running out of the oil pan. He looked at me and said there is nothing he can do and he left.

After the Mechanic left, I called a tow truck and had my car towed to a shop. I explained what happen to the mechanic who told me it sounds like there was no oil was in my car. While I was waiting for a tow, a road side Emergency truck pulled up behind he and asked me if I needed help. The Emergency help people waited for a while before they left. I had a rebuilt Engine put in my car to the tune of $3153. I was told by the VW dealer that a new engine would cost $6000.000 which I don't have. I took a bus to work while my car was being worked on. I did call Jiffy Lube Corporate at 800-344-6933 who told me that I would need to deal with the shop not corporate. Jiffy Lube says that the problem was caused by something else. Whatever else may have casued the problem (which I do not believe) there should still have been oil on the oil dip stick.

They told my mother that these things were needed. They showed her the gunk in my engine, well that's why I wanted an oil change. Then they told her my windshield wipers were ragged, but it's been raining for 4 days and I never noticed anything wrong with them. I feel they completely took advantage of an unsuspecting elderly woman who thought she was doing me a favor. When she became aware of what they did, it made her cry to think they saw nothing more than an old fool. They may have gotten $123.00 from me but they'll never get another dime.

Two days later I found flaws. The receipt said I needed new wiper blades which were new, but they cut the corner of the blades, and my husband showed them the pack which the wipers came in because it was still in the truck and cost me $25.00. There were numerous other problems that they did not address.

I took my truck to Jiffy Lube for oil change and lube because I had a $5 coupon off, and they did not do a good job; my truck got worse, losing radiator fluid and power. My husband found out that Jiffy Lube cheated me. Also, they didn't change the oil filter, and I was told if I wanted anti freeze it would cost $ 4.00 more. I declined because we had it filled. They loosened several hoses to my truck, took caps off my tires

Jiffy Lube cut my new wippers at the corner and loossened several hoses to my truck, took my caps off my tires and never replaced them, spilled oil on my engine causing it to smoke, leaned on my casing covering my fan and caused it to hit the fan which my husband had to bend back in place--among other things. And we are still finding more things they did as we drive my truck.

I had always had my truck serviced by my usual mechanics. I never had problems like this.

While recharging, I overheard a conversation between the employees that sounded like they guy was not trained very well. A few weeks later, I started blowing hot air. I am very busy so I went in when I needed an oil change. I explained the problem. He changes the oil and tells me to take it to Warrensburg Ford to have them look at it. I went in and the dealer explained that they found a hole in the compressor. This upset me because I never had a problem with the vehicle before visiting Jiffy Lube. I paid my deductible to have it fixed. A week after visiting Ford, my vehicle started to slip gears. I took it back to Ford and the guy tells me there is a hole in my oil cooler line and there is a hole in my air compressor. I explained the technicians just repaired the hole. He checked his records and found that I was correct, and only said he would talk to management to see if I had to be charged again for another comprssor! Additionally, he tells me that there was a leak on my transmission and it would cost almost 300.00 to repair. I felt a little suspicious, since I never noticed a leak. so I refilled the transmission and have been driving for a month with no signs of a leak. I found out later on that the management at Ford and Jiffy Lube are well acqauinted with each other. Small town monopolies! I even called the regional manager of Jiffy Lube. He told me that it was impossible for his employees to do such a thing to the car. How would he know if he was not there.

November 8, 2007 I decided to have my oil services at Jiffy Lube before I headed out on a long trip to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. While I was at Jiffy Lube, the attendant asked if I would also like my transfer cases and transmission flushed on my 2003 Jeep Wrangler. I agreeded and payed $252.58 for the complete service. I have not had any problems nor have I had to bring my Jeep into the dealership since I bought it in 2003. I provide maintenance at regularly scheduled intervals. Thursday night when I brought my vehicle in, it was running fine.

Friday morning, Nov. 9th I set out to Idaho. Before I left Monoroe, I noticed my Jeep was not driving normal and it kept shifting in and out of gears. It acted as if it were stalling at times in different gears while I was driving. It eventually stopped and I arrived in Idaho. Once again, I noticed my Jeep was going in and out of gears while driving and a family member suggested I check the transmission fluid level. I did and found that it was very low. I contacted Jiffy Lube and explained this to them.

They told me they had added ATF Dex and that I should add more fluid. I did. I began the trip back to Monroe, Washington and lost power in the vehicle going up into Spokane. The Jeep began shifting into different gears as I drove and at one point I was almost hit by a semi. I pulled over at a gas station and called Jiffy Lube. They apologized and said that a manager was not available, but I should contact them Monday. I explained that I was stranded on a holiday weekend and that my vehicle was not working.

They did not provide any additional assistance for me. I was able to contact a mobile techinician who came out to where my vehicle was located and told me they had put in the wrong transmission fluid and the levels were low. He did an emergency flush on my vehicle so that I could drive it back to Monroe and have it serviced at the Jeep Dealership. I brought my Jeep into the Dealership and my transmission is no longer working. The cost is $2300.00 to have it repaired on top of the $152.00 for the mobile tech service and the $99.00 I payed to have the transmission flushed in the first place. I contacted Jiffy Lube's Headquarters in Texas and filed a complaint.

They had a store manager contact me and appeared to be workable. Since then, the Jeep dealership contacted Jiffy Lube's local management and they told the Jeep Dealership that they were denying the claim since I did not have a sample of the fluid when it was flushed by the mobile technician. When I had contacted Jiffy Lube while I was stranded, they did not inform me to have a sample taken at that time. I have tried calling them again, and they will not return my call or let me know in person that they are denying my claim.

(he is new and certified) he told me that clearly the crack was caused by the new screw... the crack in right next to the screw... the reason the district manager saw the crack my oil panel is because he looked at my care after the employee had been trying to fix it or beating on it for 2 or 3 hours.... i explained to them that my car never leaked oil.... and now it leaks really bad... before i left another guy who works there but in six quarts of oil for me... and that didn't do much because just as fast as he was putting it in... it was coming out.... i then asked him was he certified... and he slowly shook his head no.... if they felt that it was a problem with my car, they should have done what midas did... said, sir, we're not touching it... but they touched it... reason being.. there was no problem... the guy who worked on it wasn't used to dealing with foreign cars and instead of admitting he had done wrong.... he dried to fix it... i got caught up because i'm not familiar with the auto jargin that was used.... i later talked with the employee who first told me what really happened... he explained that they have many cases pending.... such as, forgetting to put oil in the cars, putting on the wrong filter, putting brake pads on wrong...... i'm highly dissappointed that an accredited place such as jiffy lube would not own up to what is wrong.... i would like for them to fix my car and be exposed so that others don't be victims

My husband, sons and I routinely have the oil changed in our vehicles approximately every 5000 miles, as recommended in our vehicle owner's manuals. A few months ago, I took my 2001 Chrysler Sebring to Jiffy Lube for a routine oil change.

We have frequented this particular Jiffy Lube on Rodney Parham because of it's proximity to our home, the quick service and the car wash. I arrived right at opening time and was the first customer of the day. While I was waiting for my car in the customer waiting room, an employee called me up to the service desk and recommended a laundry list of additional products and services.

I agreed to a transmission service and something else I can't even recall, and I ended up paying about $200.00 for what I intended to be a $19.99 quick oil change. And for some reason even though I was the first customer in the garage, I sat waiting for my car for over an hour and a half while I watched numerous other vehicles come and go. I finally had to go ask what was the deal with my car and why was it taking so long and while other customers who arrived behind me had come and gone. It was about another 10 minutes later that my car came out of the garage and into the car wash. One evening, a little over a month ago, my son was driving the Sebring when it started shaking and making noise.

He immediately pulled off the road, turned off the engine and called me. I came to his rescue and we left the car parked on the side of the road for the evening. The next morning I had my father take me to deal with the car. He drove it, and I followed him to a nearby Shell Service station where we have done business for years. We had a mechanic there listen to the way the engine was running and he checked the oil.

There was virtually no oil in the tank!!! He asked if we had noticed any oil leaking out on our carport or if maybe the car had run over anything that could have busted the oil pan, but nothing like that had occurred. We had him check for leaks or a busted oil pan and he found everything intact. He stated that the only way that he could see that the oil tank could contain virtually no oil in the absence of a major leak or busted oil pan would be that the oil tank was drained and the oil was not replaced.

Now I am not a mechanic, but I think that even if the car was extremely past due for an oil change,(which it wasn't) you might find the oil a bit low, and it would be dirty, but you would still find some oil! I am convinced that Jiffy Lube is responsible for the lack of oil in my car.

The Shell Station was kind enough to let my car sit on their lot for about 3 weeks while we try to figure out what to do with it. I just had it towed to our home last week where it remains parked.

June 7, 2007. Stopped by Jiffy Lube to get the oil changed on my car, a 1991 Toyota MR2. It was coming out in the paper that evening for sale, and changing the oil was the last thing I needed to do. We waited (my grandson-age 6 and I),they gave me my bill when done, I paid it. They brought the car around, my grandson and I got in, went to leave, and noticed my door ajar light was on. I told my grandson to open and shut his door again, which he did, light was still on, I opened my door and shut my door, light still on, so I got out of my car, walked around the back and seen my trunk lid was open. Proceeded to shut lid, got back in car, and drove off. I drove down Bear Valley Rd, in heavy traffic at about 5-10 mph for about 1/2 mile, turned onto Mariposa Rd, also traffic for about another mile, then traffic cleared and I started to pick up speed. At approximately 40 to 50 mph, my hood flew up, smashed my windshield, and caused me to slam on my brakes. Thankfully, there was no one around to hit me, so I pulled over to the side of the road, calmed my grandson who was crying, and tried to calm myself. I finally got out of the car, managed to get the hood down, and slowly drove back to JIffy Lube on side streets.

I showed the manager, Smitty, what happened. He apologized, said they would get the car fixed, he had a auto body shop that worked with them on this kind of thing. He got into my car, and drove it himself over to the auto body shop, and asked them to fix it. I told him I was selling it, came out that night, and I needed it asap. He said no problem. Now, the MR2's have 3 deck lids, a small trunk in back, the engine in back, and a small storage area with the battery, windshield washer fluid in the front, under the hood. I told him it was probably an accident, whoever worked on the car didn't know which lever to pull, and probably pulled all three, trying to find the correct one, which would explain the trunk open. The lever for the engine is behind the drivers seat, hidden from view. He agreed. The girl was new, and probably didn't know. 4 days later, Smitty calls and says they are not going to pay for it, that they never opened the hood. That may be true (the paper work they gave me says they checked the battery, and added fluid to the windshield washer box, which is under the hood), but someone still had to have pulled the lever, which popped it.

I filed a complaint with consumer affairs, but they can only mediate, and he said they are not paying, so I have to pursue them in small claims court, but they will fine him for false information on the paperwork. Smitty said that I must have popped my own hood when I was checking the door ajar light, or my grandson pulled the latch in the glovebox? There is no hood latch in the glovebox, and I was checking door ajar, not latch ajar. I know my car, and I know I would not have pulled the hood latch. About them saying they checked items on my car that was under the hood, Smitty said that was a glitch in their system, it automatically put those things done on the invoice, and they were working on it.

So they had not done the things they said on my invoice? Funny, they never told me this. I assumed everything on the invoice had been done. Once I got it inside they told me the Transmission filter needed changing . So I said sure. Once I went to cash out the manager told the lady ahead of me that she too had to have her Transmission filter changed. A light went on then . I went to the Ford dealer, and they said they had never encountered such a problem. However, one of their technicians said he could drill a hole in the broken dipstick and pull it out. He was successful and pulled it out. However, I had to buy a new dipstick that cost me almost $40.00. I will not go back to Jiffy Lube for an oil change.

I drove out of their shop and not even a block away, the transmission slips. I turned around and came back. Ray said that they over filled the transmission and would flush it again. ( I thought to myself that if it was full then why didn't they just drain the excess off) After three flushes and the manager Ray Herrera taking my car on a high speed test drive, the car finally broke. Ray told me that they were so sorry that they broke my car and that they would pay to get it fixed. Ray called for a flatbed tow truck and payed to have my car towed to the Volvo dealer. ( if they said that they did nothing wrong then why did the pay to have my car towed to the dealer). I came by the shop the next day to see if I could get what they said, in writing. but they now had to talk to corporate first. Volvo called me to inform me that they did not use synthetic fluid and the repairs on my car would add up $ 4,500.00 . I called Steve Sheilds at Jiffy Lubes Corporate office. He informed me that Jiffy Lube did nothing wrong and they would not be paying for any damages. I told him that the General manager Rommel Santos, Manager Ray Herrera and Assistant Mananger Al ( I do not know his last name) all three told me that this was Jiffy Lubes problem and the all told me that they would pay for all cost involved and they were so sorry to put me through this. You can also tell by my bill that they used ATF instead of Synthetic because of the cost. Jiffy Lube only charged me $14.00 for the transmission fuild. Synthetic is $ 24.72 a liter instead of $ 3.10 a liter for ATF. If they used Synthetic then my bill would be a lot higher than what it is. Jiffy Lubes Management team lied to my face when they all three said that they would pay to get my car fixed. Please help. My son took his 1999 Ford Taurus in for an oil change on 6/14/07. Their computer indicated a radiator flush was needed so he had them complete that service, as well. After driving approximately 20 miles, his car over heated and lost coolant from the reservoir. He stopped his car, immediately, and called for the Jiffy Lube manager. The manager came to his location, put more coolant in it and told him to return the next morning and he would check it out. My son returned, as instructed, and the manager re-flushed the radiator. While this was being done, my son overheard the manager tell his workers they needed to take more time when doing this type of work. Since the flushing, his car has continued to loose coolant and the water pump keeps making noise. We continue to keep in close contact with the manager, during which time, he noticed the reservoir was cracked. Although we replaced the resevoir, the problem continues. This is not the first time we've had problems after having Jiffy Lube flush the radiator. In 2004, I took the car into a different location and, shortly after, the car started over heating and the water pump began making noise.

My husband and I immediately drove back to the Jiffy Lube, and the assistant manager, Max Nelson, told me that in error, they drained my transmission fluid (not the oil), and they did not change my oil at all, but over-filled it. I did not have any transmission oil showing on the dipstick, and too much motor oil. I want to say that Max Nelson was very honest and immediately changed all fluids to correct the problem. He oversaw the entire process. He refunded my money. After reading all the reports of problems with Jiffy Lube in the past I probably would not have gone there at all. Negligence on the part of Jiffy Lube Technicians led to the severe damage of my car's engine. Something as simple as replacing the oil plug was forgotten and I was allowed to drive away from the location as if everything was normal. My vehicle shut down while driving on a busy street. Luckily I was able to steer the vehicle to safety and no one was injured. After contacting the shop, two concerned Jiffy Lube technicians came to the location where my vehicle died and refilled the oil, replaced the plug and led me back to the shop where they performed an engine flush and fluid replacement. I obtained a signed explanation of the incident from the store manager and I was ensured that the engine was fine although it was shuddering horribly and the engine light remained on.

I took the vehicle to my Mazda service department first thing the next business day. After weeks of diagnostic work and replacement of small parts, the Mazda mechanics completed their checklist of possible problems without success, resulting in a teardown of the camshaft assembly. To their surprise they found severe damage to the camshaft and bearings, caused by metal debris in the engine. The only reason metal debris could be generated in a brand new engine, only 5 months old would be the result of running without oil.

Mazda's recommendation is to provide and install a new engine which is exactly what should be done. Jiffy Lube has a set dollar amount which they are wiling to pay which does not cover the complete expense of the engine replacement and associated costs such as rental cars and other out of pocket fees. This is unacceptable.

I have never had this kind of problem with Jiffy Lube or any other store that did an oil change for me. I understand they don't always replace all the fluids, but they always told me when they were low and needed to be filled.

I was very dissatisfied with the service and do not plan to return to Jiffy Lube for future needs.

I pulled into an empty Jiffy Lube for their advertised $19.99 oil change on my 1988 Toyota van. There appeared to be approximately 4 employees and one of them promptly told me they did not have a filter for my vehicle. I drove to the Toyota dealership, purchased a filter for $6.41 and returned to the Jiffy Lube location. I asked them if they could now service my vehicle since I was providing the filter.

The serviceman promptly told me I would not receive a discount because the price was in the computer (?). He then pulled my vehicle into a stall but did not know where the engine was nor how to get to it. I had to raise the seat and show him. Approximately 15 minutes later they pulled my vehicle out of the stall and told me they were finished. I asked the serviceman if they had checked all of the fluid levels and he assured me they had.

He began to prepare the bill and told me the total due was $22.86. After speaking to another employee he told me I was receiving a $2.00 discount for the filter, making the total $20.86. When I returned to my office I looked at the bill and was surprised by several things I saw. First the gross sales was $21.93 and not the advertised $19.99. On the Service Checklist I noted all of the items they claim to have performed: Vacuum Floors (not so), Wash Exterior Windows (not so), Check Wiper Blades (not so as the driver's side blade is seperated from the rubber).

Since these highly visible items were not done, I am suspect as to the "hidden things" having been done such as the fluid levels, air pressure in tires etc. All in all I would say the service I received did not measure up to all of the signage in the store touting how important service is to Jiffy Lube. This was not my first trip to this location, but it was the worst experience there and was an indication why this shop was empty.

Hears a sound clanging and oil light comes on, before he pulls over, big cloud of black smoke comes from the car, and it stops. He calls me...his mom, and i drive up the canyon with freinds to get him. Trail of oil behind his car.

I go to Parley's Summit to get oil, just in case need. Check the oil and all see is black gooy stuff. It took 3 qts. Called tow truck and had it towed to daughters house as it was closer. Called Jiffy Lube, talked to manager Brandon who said he will meet us there. When we got to my daughter's we left the car and went home. Daughter calls and says a man is under the car about half hour later. I drive over, it takes ten minutes. I pull behind the Pontiac and the man is just getting out from under the car. He says he from Jiffy Lube and he was checking the filter etc. Says it is tight and he clean and saw no leak.

I relay all that happened and he said take it to mechanic and have them determine who is at fault. If Jiffy Lube they will fix it. So I call Amoco and they come get car, they check it and say the bearings show alot of scarring caused by starving for oil, and alot of medel in the pan. There is small tiny leak around a seal but that would not cause the massive lost of oil and the damage to engine. Call Jiffy Lube and tell them what I was told by mechanic. Brandon was there and talked to District Manager, Ben. He says he will not send out an investigator unless mechanic says where the oil went and who is at fault.

All this took almost 4 months and i still waiting.I am thinking of taking car to dealer and have them check it too.

I pulled over and noticed that they forgot to tighten the nut after they drained all the old oil, but it was too late, and the engine stopped before I could turn the car off.

Then, the next day, i called Jiffy Lube and explain what happened. It turns out that the engine is ruined and must be replaced. I spoke to Mr. Ray and Rick (Supposely Owner), and claim that because of their neglect, the engine was ruined. They were hesitant to negotiate any deal with me. I took the car to my regular mechanic and was told that they had spilled oil all over my engine. My oil level was down 1/2 quart. He proceeded to clean the engine. They had spilled the oil into my cooling system so I had to have those fluids replaced as well. My name is Kit Lindsay and I am a professional transmission mechanic, the owner of Lindsay Transmission in Warrensburg Missouri since 1984. I had a good relationship with the local Jiffy Lube until last week. Now I am letting everyone know why they shouldn't patronize this establishment. I overhauled the transmission in a 1998 Caravan for a local Highway Patrolman. We cover all of our work with a 36 month/50,000 mile warranty and we let our customers know that they don't need to service their transmissions until 50,000 miles has elapsed.

Well, this customer let Jiffy Lube talk him into servicing this transmission when he had gone there for a routine engine oil change. Shortly after that, he started hearing new sounds and felt the vehicle slipping and revving up on the highway. I guess he didn't think was too serious until the vehicle started making louder sounds and then failed to back up one day. Realizing the transmission was still under warranty, he brought it back to my shop, where we promptly checked into the problem. The first thing my tech noticed was that there was a gasket on the transmission oil pan.

Chrysler doesn't use gaskets on the transmissions they manufacture for their front wheel drive vehicles, and neither do we. We called the owner and he confirmed that the transmission had been previously serviced by the local Jiffy Lube. Upon disassembly of the transmission we found that the Jiffy Lube employee that serviced the transmission had neglected to install the o-ring seal that seals the filter inlet to the valve body casting. This was the cause of the "slipping" that the owner was feeling when he was driving down the road.

You see, the o-ring seals the filter so that the pump is able to draw transmission fluid in the proper way. With this seal missing, the transmission pump was drawing air which burned the pump, starved the unit of lubrication and eventually resulted in the failure of the transmission. I notified Jiffy Lube of our findings immediately. I was told by a Jiffy Lube employee that if they had made a mistake then they would take care of it. They had to verify that the vehicle had been serviced by them between the time we overhauled the transmission and the failure but their policy was to take care of the customer.

I wanted to make sure I was hearing this correctly, so I asked him to repeat the statement because I was going to call the owner and let him know that Jiffy Lube had agreed to pay for the repair. He said yes, it was their policy that they (Jiffy Lube) pays for any damages they cause. I called the owner and explained what happened, and told him that anyone could have made that mistake and that Jiffy Lube was going to take care of the repair bill, and we were going to do the repair at a greatly reduced price as a professional courtesy. He was happy, and I thought I had done a good thing, keeping Jiffy Lube and my industry as a whole from looking bad.

We completed the repair and I submitted the bill to Jiffy Lube for $1533.44 which was about $1100 less then the normal fee for this extensive of a repair. I got a call from the manager stating that they were unaware of this problem and I was going to have to speak with the regional manager in Kansas City. He told me that they weren't going to honor the agreement because the transmission wasn't inspected when it was apart and that the customer should have brought the vehicle back to Jiffy Lube instead of Lindsay Transmission when it started acting up. I was shocked!

I told him about my conversation on Monday with the local Jiffy Lube employee and he dismissed it saying that local managers are not qualified to authorize any repairs or payments. He told me that he would have to discuss this with his upper management team. I called the owner and explained this to him and got him involved in trying to get Jiffy Lube to make this right. His phone calls to the Kansas City central office went unreturned just like mine. Long story short, no Jiffy Lube employee will admit talking to me last Monday and they refused to take care of this problem. I was faced with a customer that needs his van back and of course, he doesn't want or think he should have to pay the bill.

Two years ago, I had taken my 1986 Jeep Cherokee in for an oil change. Although there was about 300,000 miles on the chassis, the engine was newer, having only 63,687 miles on it since it had been installed. I change my oil every 3,000 miles religiously. I usually do it myself but it was snowing that day so I took it to Jiffy Lube instead. I had done this about four times during my ownership of this Jeep. After changing the oil and filter, the technician at Jiffy Lube recommended a pressure flush of the cooling system, which I agreed to.

Later that day I noticed a puddle of antifreeze under the engine area of the parked Jeep. I opened the hood and found antifreeze dripping from where a heater hose was attached to the heater valve. I went to tighten the hose clamp up and as soon as I put pressure against the clamp, the plastic fitting the hose was attached to broke completely off the valve. I bypassed the valve until I could get a new one, and a couple of days later my engine started to run rough and miss at idle. It got worse, and I pulled the plugs.

#1 was coolant-fouled. Since I was in a town about 135 miles away from Klamath Falls, I took it to a four-wheel-drive shop where I had had work done in the past and trusted their knowledge and skill. They verified that the head gasket had blown or the head was cracked between #1 and #2 cylinders. They pulled the head and sent it out to have it inspected and surfaced (no cracks found) while they replaced the heater valve, and while they were at it they sent the radiator out to have it rodded.

On checking further I found the floor flooded as was the case under the front pasenger mat. It took two days of mopping and shop vac. at home to suck up the water. On taking the car to my mechanic I learned that the air conditioner drain hose had been deliberately shoved up into the car body and that was the cause of the flood. It was fished down and the problem was eleminated. The mechanic asured me that this could have only been done deliberately as the hose was pushed well back from the opening.

I work for a Jiffy Lube in NY, I was reading through some of the complaints you have posted, and not to be rude or anything, but some things just take a little a thought. For example, the broken windshield, the windshield was used, why should Jiffy Lube buy a new one, as long as it is fixed, and at minimum, holds the same value that the original was in, it should be considered even. The poor installation job, is not Jiffy Lubes fault, we do not install windows, talk to the person that does.

Also I read that Jiffy Lube has a big team of lawyers to lie and get out of being held responsible, well that's not totally the case. It only makes sense for a big franchise to have good lawyers. Working at Jiffy Lube I have seen many customers come in with false accusations that we "broke" their car. In most cases the customer either does not know what he/she is talking about, or more commonly is trying to scam Jiffy Lube into getting something for free at Jiffy Lubes expense. I've seen a lot of people place the blame on us for ridiculous things, and its really disturbing to see how people can really be.

So keep in mind, that even tho, yes Jiffy Lube employees are people, and do sometimes make mistakes, we are not trying to deny people who legitimately were wronged their dues, we are trying to protect ourselves from being taken advantage of.

Finally, I read a comment about how Jiffy Lubes are bad, and that people should take their cars to a local mechanic. Impossible, realize how many cars a day a place like Jiffy Lube does, a local shop could never do it. Also even people in small shops make mistakes and have to deal with the same issues Jiffy Lube does, you just don't hear about it, because it is a small business, not a nationally known franchise. Just think about that.

I had brought my 4x4 pickup truck in for Jiffy Lube's complete 4x4 service, including changing the fluid in the differential. Their employees had failed to properly torque the drain bolt on the differential and it had worked itself out of its hole. As a result, my differential locked up and wrecked itself, and destroyed my clutch in the process.

I had asked the employees at the local Jiffy Lube to make good the damages, and was referred to a manager who simply pointed at their national number on the shop wall and asked me to leave. This behaviour resulted in all of the current customers in the shop deciding to take their vehicles and leave. Heh.

I called the number, and was dumped into voice mail. I left a message, but was it was not returned. I then decided to send Jiffy Lube International certified mail explaining what happened, and demanding payment ($1200 worth of repair bills). They sent a letter back, claiming they had no responsibility for the local owner's actions at that shop.

I asked a relative (who was also a lawyer) to send them a demand letter, which they also ignored. Having had enough of this, I filed suit in Small Claims Court, and paid a process server to deliver the papers to Jiffy Lube's local corporate representative.

I got a letter back from their Houston main office, still claiming that they were not responsible for the local Jiffy Lube franchise's actions. Then I got a contradictory letter, from the same office, claiming responsibilty, but mentioning a Jiffy Lube in a completely different state. No one from Jiffy Lube even bothered to respond to the Court within the required 30 days, and so I applied for and got a default judgement.

I then sent a demand letter, with a copy of the default judgement, to Jiffy Lube International in Houston via certified mail. It was ignored! I then spent about $3 on pre-printed garnishment forms, and sent a certified demand letter to their Oregon rep, and added a warning that I was ready to begin garnishment.

The receipt for the certified letter, and the check for the full amount, arrived the same day.

In retrospect, I can see that Jiffy Lube was unable to do anything to satisfy my claim until forced to by threat of garnishment, and that they seem willing to ignore Small Claim Court filings, and let them go to default judgement. Oh well ... I did get my money, but only after a 6 month fight.

This is a great testimony to persistence. Jiffy Lube and many other national companies, we're told, routinely ignore Small Claims filings. That's good because, as Kris noted, the consumer can then request and often receive a default judgment. The next hurdle is collecting which, as Kris notes, is not easy either. It can be done, though. The key is to keep identifying persons and assets that can be targeted.
