I took my F-150 truck in to Jiffy Luve for a lube and oil change. The very next day I got a call on the service I received and said "excellent" for every thing including time frame 15 mins. Two days later I found flaws. The receipt said I needed new wiper blades which were new, but they cut the corner of the blades, and my husband showed them the pack which the wipers came in because it was still in the truck and cost me $25.00. There were numerous other problems that they did not address.
Jiffy Lube cut my new wippers at the corner and loossened several hoses to my truck, took my caps off my tires and never replaced them, spilled oil on my engine causing it to smoke, leaned on my casing covering my fan and caused it to hit the fan which my husband had to bend back in place--among other things. And we are still finding more things they did as we drive my truck.
I had always had my truck serviced by my usual mechanics. I never had problems like this.

I was a normal customer at Jiffy Lube. I went in one day to get my A/C recharged. They tested the system and recharged it. While recharging, I overheard a conversation between the employees that sounded like they guy was not trained very well. A few weeks later, I started blowing hot air. I am very busy so I went in when I needed an oil change. I explained the problem. He changes the oil and tells me to take it to Warrensburg Ford to have them look at it. I went in and the dealer explained that they found a hole in the compressor. This upset me because I never had a problem with the vehicle before visiting Jiffy Lube. I paid my deductible to have it fixed. A week after visiting Ford, my vehicle started to slip gears. I took it back to Ford and the guy tells me there is a hole in my oil cooler line and there is a hole in my air compressor. I explained the technicians just repaired the hole. He checked his records and found that I was correct, and only said he would talk to management to see if I had to be charged again for another comprssor! Additionally, he tells me that there was a leak on my transmission and it would cost almost 300.00 to repair. I felt a little suspicious, since I never noticed a leak. so I refilled the transmission and have been driving for a month with no signs of a leak. I found out later on that the management at Ford and Jiffy Lube are well acqauinted with each other. Small town monopolies! I even called the regional manager of Jiffy Lube. He told me that it was impossible for his employees to do such a thing to the car. How would he know if he was not there.

I went in to Jiffy Lube on October 29, 2007 to get an oil change. On Nov. 24 I noticed my brakes tightening up as I was driving. I pulled over and was smelling rubber. I looked under the hood saw nothing, got back into the car, and it would start up but not move in drive nor reverse. I got the car towed to my house. The next morning it started working. I took it to the Gillepsie Pontiac Dealership. They checked it out and said they noticed that Jiffy Lube was the last place I got my oil change. They also said my brake fluid was contaminated, and they brought it to me in a clear bottle for me to see that there was more than break fluid in it.
They said I needed new hoses, all new calipers, all new rotors, break pads, flush system, hoses and washers, master cylinder, 4 break cleaners and 2 bottles of break fluid--all totaling with labor $2700.00. I have no warranty on this car. Glenn Potter, the service man who was helping me said that they had 4 other cars in with the same problem, and they had all been to Jiffy Lube to be serviced.

November 8, 2007 I decided to have my oil services at Jiffy Lube before I headed out on a long trip to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. While I was at Jiffy Lube, the attendant asked if I would also like my transfer cases and transmission flushed on my 2003 Jeep Wrangler. I agreeded and payed $252.58 for the complete service. I have not had any problems nor have I had to bring my Jeep into the dealership since I bought it in 2003. I provide maintenance at regularly scheduled intervals. Thursday night when I brought my vehicle in, it was running fine.
Friday morning, Nov. 9th I set out to Idaho. Before I left Monoroe, I noticed my Jeep was not driving normal and it kept shifting in and out of gears. It acted as if it were stalling at times in different gears while I was driving. It eventually stopped and I arrived in Idaho. Once again, I noticed my Jeep was going in and out of gears while driving and a family member suggested I check the transmission fluid level. I did and found that it was very low. I contacted Jiffy Lube and explained this to them.
They told me they had added ATF Dex and that I should add more fluid. I did. I began the trip back to Monroe, Washington and lost power in the vehicle going up into Spokane. The Jeep began shifting into different gears as I drove and at one point I was almost hit by a semi. I pulled over at a gas station and called Jiffy Lube. They apologized and said that a manager was not available, but I should contact them Monday. I explained that I was stranded on a holiday weekend and that my vehicle was not working.
They did not provide any additional assistance for me. I was able to contact a mobile techinician who came out to where my vehicle was located and told me they had put in the wrong transmission fluid and the levels were low. He did an emergency flush on my vehicle so that I could drive it back to Monroe and have it serviced at the Jeep Dealership. I brought my Jeep into the Dealership and my transmission is no longer working. The cost is $2300.00 to have it repaired on top of the $152.00 for the mobile tech service and the $99.00 I payed to have the transmission flushed in the first place. I contacted Jiffy Lube's Headquarters in Texas and filed a complaint.
They had a store manager contact me and appeared to be workable. Since then, the Jeep dealership contacted Jiffy Lube's local management and they told the Jeep Dealership that they were denying the claim since I did not have a sample of the fluid when it was flushed by the mobile technician. When I had contacted Jiffy Lube while I was stranded, they did not inform me to have a sample taken at that time. I have tried calling them again, and they will not return my call or let me know in person that they are denying my claim.

I have a truck with 397,000 miles on it. it was running strong and fine. Took truck to Jiffy Lube, had oil changed and 2 quarts of anti-freeze put in. Less than 25 miles later I have water in my oil, and I have a cracked block.
Jiffy Lube has taken no responsibility, and I have to come up with $4,000-6000 to get truck engine fixed.

I went to Jiffy Lube for a regular oil change to prepare for a trip out of town and to drive to work. There was nothing wrong with my car before I went in for service. The service took over an hour, and I walked over and the guy under the bottom of my car told the other guy who was standing that "it will not stop leaking". I asked him what did he mean, and he stated that I had cracks in my oil pan. I know there were no cracks due to the fact that I drive from Chicago to Skokie for work everyday and do not have any leaks. Now all the oil has drained out of my car outside my house, and I have to miss work until this is fixed. I called and asked for the manager, and he said his name was "Sneakie." He said he talked to me earlier, and his employee told him the pan was cracked before he removed the screw. I asked him, "If there was a crack before, why did he remove the screw before telling me?" He claimed thats why he gave me a card to call his friend who's a mechanic.
Oil leak now, with oil all over the ground, when there was no oil leak before going to Jiffy Lube.

I had my oil and oil filter replaced on 9/24. My 1997 Corrola ran fine for a couple of days and then the oil indicator light came on. I noticed that they (Jiffy Lube) put too much oil in my car. I stopped by a couple days later and asked them (Jiffy Lube) to take some of the oil out, which they did. They called it a three second drop. The oil indicator light was still on and continued to be on after I left Jiffy Lube. I noticed that my car was stalling from time to time.
Finally on October 5th, the engine threw a rod and is now not driveable. A new engine would cost $2000.00 to replace. I am asking for a the engine to be replaced at Jiffy Lube's cost.
The consequences are that I am without a vehicle and having to use a rental car to get to and from work. My engine would have to be replaced at great expense!

After an oil change my car engine and oil lights came on an then my car shut off on a highway. Jiffy Lube asked me to bring the car back to them to service it. After leaving them a second time my coolant lights would not go off so taking it to a mechanic, I was told that my radiator was damaged and there was not enough oil in my vehicle. Jiffy lube only apologized for not refilling the oil. The mechanic stated this is usually what happens when the plug is not put on after an oil change

Jiffy Lube claims to have changed a fuel filter in the fuel tank of my truck. I'd been told by other Jiffy Lubes that they didn't do that. So, I checked my fule filter, and all the dirt that was there in the first place was still there meaning that nothing had been disturbed during this phantom fuel filter change. I called and confronted them about it, and they claim they changed it. The only thing they did was spill a little gas on my tank and call it good.
No physical damage to my truck, but just lost faith in Jiffy Lube and was cheated out of some money.

(he is new and certified) he told me that clearly the crack was caused by the new screw... the crack in right next to the screw... the reason the district manager saw the crack my oil panel is because he looked at my care after the employee had been trying to fix it or beating on it for 2 or 3 hours.... i explained to them that my car never leaked oil.... and now it leaks really bad... before i left another guy who works there but in six quarts of oil for me... and that didn't do much because just as fast as he was putting it in... it was coming out.... i then asked him was he certified... and he slowly shook his head no.... if they felt that it was a problem with my car, they should have done what midas did... said, sir, we're not touching it... but they touched it... reason being.. there was no problem... the guy who worked on it wasn't used to dealing with foreign cars and instead of admitting he had done wrong.... he dried to fix it... i got caught up because i'm not familiar with the auto jargin that was used.... i later talked with the employee who first told me what really happened... he explained that they have many cases pending.... such as, forgetting to put oil in the cars, putting on the wrong filter, putting brake pads on wrong...... i'm highly dissappointed that an accredited place such as jiffy lube would not own up to what is wrong.... i would like for them to fix my car and be exposed so that others don't be victims

My husband, sons and I routinely have the oil changed in our vehicles approximately every 5000 miles, as recommended in our vehicle owner's manuals. A few months ago, I took my 2001 Chrysler Sebring to Jiffy Lube for a routine oil change.
We have frequented this particular Jiffy Lube on Rodney Parham because of it's proximity to our home, the quick service and the car wash. I arrived right at opening time and was the first customer of the day. While I was waiting for my car in the customer waiting room, an employee called me up to the service desk and recommended a laundry list of additional products and services.
I agreed to a transmission service and something else I can't even recall, and I ended up paying about $200.00 for what I intended to be a $19.99 quick oil change. And for some reason even though I was the first customer in the garage, I sat waiting for my car for over an hour and a half while I watched numerous other vehicles come and go. I finally had to go ask what was the deal with my car and why was it taking so long and while other customers who arrived behind me had come and gone. It was about another 10 minutes later that my car came out of the garage and into the car wash. One evening, a little over a month ago, my son was driving the Sebring when it started shaking and making noise.
He immediately pulled off the road, turned off the engine and called me. I came to his rescue and we left the car parked on the side of the road for the evening. The next morning I had my father take me to deal with the car. He drove it, and I followed him to a nearby Shell Service station where we have done business for years. We had a mechanic there listen to the way the engine was running and he checked the oil.
There was virtually no oil in the tank!!! He asked if we had noticed any oil leaking out on our carport or if maybe the car had run over anything that could have busted the oil pan, but nothing like that had occurred. We had him check for leaks or a busted oil pan and he found everything intact. He stated that the only way that he could see that the oil tank could contain virtually no oil in the absence of a major leak or busted oil pan would be that the oil tank was drained and the oil was not replaced.
Now I am not a mechanic, but I think that even if the car was extremely past due for an oil change,(which it wasn't) you might find the oil a bit low, and it would be dirty, but you would still find some oil! I am convinced that Jiffy Lube is responsible for the lack of oil in my car.
The Shell Station was kind enough to let my car sit on their lot for about 3 weeks while we try to figure out what to do with it. I just had it towed to our home last week where it remains parked.

I had my last oil change done by your store at 7005 E. Broad back in June 2007. Today my fiance' wanted to do an oil change on both of our trucks. He started on mine and it took the two of us to loosen the oil filter because it was on so tight and when he climed under the truck and tried to loosen the oil drain plug with a wrench of the proper size, he was unable to move the plug due to it being in too tight. I then called down to the location that did my last oil change and was told on the phone that I could come down and they would help me, but when I got down there the manager came out and informed me that they wouldn't touch my truck, stating that my fiance' did the damage and striped the plug. Now I'm sorry but they didn't even look at it. They were just quick at shifting the blame off of their employees. So not only am I contacting you but I will also be contacting the BBB on this matter and the Attorney General.

I went to Jiffy Lube in Takoma Park, Maryland on August 1, 2007 for a routine transmission flush and refill. My vehicle had about 48k miles on it at the time. I figured I would have my transmission flushed before the 50k miles manufacturer routine service states. By Aug. 3, 2007 my vehicle was jerking as you pull off. Prior to taking my vehicle to Jiffy Lube I was not experiencing this problem. Aug. 3, 2007 I took my vehicle back to the Jiffy Lube explained the situation to the manager. The manager had two different technicians check out my car only to tell me they didn't notice any jerking. I explain to the techs that I drive my car everyday I know if there is a problem with my vehicle. They told me if I experience the jerking again call them back. I have called at least 5 times to speak with the manager regarding this matter only to be placed on hold and receive no assistance. I contact another manager at a different Jiffy Lube explain problem to them and they stated that I should call Jiffy Lube International and file a complaint (800) 344-6933. I am very upset, because this is my only means of transportation. I am on top of all my routine maintenance and never had a problem with my car until I took it to that Jiffy Lube. I am going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and speak with an attorney. I work at a law firm, so I can get free advice. I had the oil on my 2007 Jaguar S-Type changed at the Jiffy Lube in Long Island City, Queens in February of 2007. I had to return the next day because it was leaking profusely. The manager told me that they had a hard time getting the skid plate off because they lacked the proper wrench. This impeded their ability to install the filter, causing the leak. He assured me that it was now tight. In July the engine seized. When I returned the car to Jaguar, they showed me that the oil leaked out of the Penzoil filter, causing the engine to seize. The repair, not covered by warranty was $12,000. I contacted Jiffy Lube. They inspected the filter and said it was not their fault since it was outside the 3 month 3000 mile warranty. Since I have the dealership documentation and photographs, I will be able to pursue recovery through the courts, but it is a shame that it had to get to this point. They should have had the proper tools to begin with, and they should have owned up to their own poor workmanship.

June 7, 2007. Stopped by Jiffy Lube to get the oil changed on my car, a 1991 Toyota MR2. It was coming out in the paper that evening for sale, and changing the oil was the last thing I needed to do. We waited (my grandson-age 6 and I),they gave me my bill when done, I paid it. They brought the car around, my grandson and I got in, went to leave, and noticed my door ajar light was on. I told my grandson to open and shut his door again, which he did, light was still on, I opened my door and shut my door, light still on, so I got out of my car, walked around the back and seen my trunk lid was open. Proceeded to shut lid, got back in car, and drove off. I drove down Bear Valley Rd, in heavy traffic at about 5-10 mph for about 1/2 mile, turned onto Mariposa Rd, also traffic for about another mile, then traffic cleared and I started to pick up speed. At approximately 40 to 50 mph, my hood flew up, smashed my windshield, and caused me to slam on my brakes. Thankfully, there was no one around to hit me, so I pulled over to the side of the road, calmed my grandson who was crying, and tried to calm myself. I finally got out of the car, managed to get the hood down, and slowly drove back to JIffy Lube on side streets.
I showed the manager, Smitty, what happened. He apologized, said they would get the car fixed, he had a auto body shop that worked with them on this kind of thing. He got into my car, and drove it himself over to the auto body shop, and asked them to fix it. I told him I was selling it, came out that night, and I needed it asap. He said no problem. Now, the MR2's have 3 deck lids, a small trunk in back, the engine in back, and a small storage area with the battery, windshield washer fluid in the front, under the hood. I told him it was probably an accident, whoever worked on the car didn't know which lever to pull, and probably pulled all three, trying to find the correct one, which would explain the trunk open. The lever for the engine is behind the drivers seat, hidden from view. He agreed. The girl was new, and probably didn't know. 4 days later, Smitty calls and says they are not going to pay for it, that they never opened the hood. That may be true (the paper work they gave me says they checked the battery, and added fluid to the windshield washer box, which is under the hood), but someone still had to have pulled the lever, which popped it.
I filed a complaint with consumer affairs, but they can only mediate, and he said they are not paying, so I have to pursue them in small claims court, but they will fine him for false information on the paperwork. Smitty said that I must have popped my own hood when I was checking the door ajar light, or my grandson pulled the latch in the glovebox? There is no hood latch in the glovebox, and I was checking door ajar, not latch ajar. I know my car, and I know I would not have pulled the hood latch. About them saying they checked items on my car that was under the hood, Smitty said that was a glitch in their system, it automatically put those things done on the invoice, and they were working on it.
So they had not done the things they said on my invoice? Funny, they never told me this. I assumed everything on the invoice had been done. I would not sabatoge my car to have the hood fly up, especially with my grandson in the car. They on the other hand, were negligent, did not go around and check the car which is obvious with the trunk still open. All I asked for was to repair my car.

I told him that the General manager Rommel Santos, Manager Ray Herrera and Assistant Mananger Al ( I do not know his last name) all three told me that this was Jiffy Lubes problem and the all told me that they would pay for all cost involved and they were so sorry to put me through this. You can also tell by my bill that they used ATF instead of Synthetic because of the cost. Jiffy Lube only charged me $14.00 for the transmission fuild. Synthetic is $ 24.72 a liter instead of $ 3.10 a liter for ATF. If they used Synthetic then my bill would be a lot higher than what it is. After driving approximately 20 miles, his car over heated and lost coolant from the reservoir. He stopped his car, immediately, and called for the Jiffy Lube manager. The manager came to his location, put more coolant in it and told him to return the next morning and he would check it out. My son returned, as instructed, and the manager re-flushed the radiator. While this was being done, my son overheard the manager tell his workers they needed to take more time when doing this type of work. Since the flushing, his car has continued to loose coolant and the water pump keeps making noise. We continue to keep in close contact with the manager, during which time, he noticed the reservoir was cracked. Although we replaced the resevoir, the problem continues. This is not the first time we've had problems after having Jiffy Lube flush the radiator. In 2004, I took the car into a different location and, shortly after, the car started over heating and the water pump began making noise.

I did not have any transmission oil showing on the dipstick, and too much motor oil. I want to say that Max Nelson was very honest and immediately changed all fluids to correct the problem. He oversaw the entire process. He refunded my money. After reading all the reports of problems with Jiffy Lube in the past I probably would not have gone there at all. Because of Max Nelson, I will go back to Jiffy Lube ONLY if Max is working there, and ONLY if he oversee's the work to be performed. The purpose of me writing this is to date stamp the occurances in case some other damage has been done to my car from this service that I do not know about yet.

Negligence on the part of Jiffy Lube Technicians led to the severe damage of my car's engine. Something as simple as replacing the oil plug was forgotten and I was allowed to drive away from the location as if everything was normal. My vehicle shut down while driving on a busy street. Luckily I was able to steer the vehicle to safety and no one was injured. After contacting the shop, two concerned Jiffy Lube technicians came to the location where my vehicle died and refilled the oil, replaced the plug and led me back to the shop where they performed an engine flush and fluid replacement. I obtained a signed explanation of the incident from the store manager and I was ensured that the engine was fine although it was shuddering horribly and the engine light remained on.
I took the vehicle to my Mazda service department first thing the next business day. After weeks of diagnostic work and replacement of small parts, the Mazda mechanics completed their checklist of possible problems without success, resulting in a teardown of the camshaft assembly. To their surprise they found severe damage to the camshaft and bearings, caused by metal debris in the engine. The only reason metal debris could be generated in a brand new engine, only 5 months old would be the result of running without oil.
Mazda's recommendation is to provide and install a new engine which is exactly what should be done. Jiffy Lube has a set dollar amount which they are wiling to pay which does not cover the complete expense of the engine replacement and associated costs such as rental cars and other out of pocket fees. This is unacceptable.

When I called Jiffy Lube branch, they said they listed on my receipt that the coolant was low, so they weren't liable for not telling me. I was never called, I received a letter 4 days later telling me the exact thing the Jiffy Lube branch told me. I called the corporate office back and they said I had no other recourse.
My engine warped because of my car overheating and needs to replaced for $3000. The coolant was leaking due to a crack in the radiator, which the Honda dealership said should have been obvious to anyone doing the oil change.

I drove to the Toyota dealership, purchased a filter for $6.41 and returned to the Jiffy Lube location. I asked them if they could now service my vehicle since I was providing the filter.
The serviceman promptly told me I would not receive a discount because the price was in the computer (?). Approximately 15 minutes later they pulled my vehicle out of the stall and told me they were finished. I asked the serviceman if they had checked all of the fluid levels and he assured me they had.
He began to prepare the bill and told me the total due was $22.86. After speaking to another employee he told me I was receiving a $2.00 discount for the filter, making the total $20.86. When I returned to my office I looked at the bill and was surprised by several things I saw. First the gross sales was $21.93 and not the advertised $19.99. On the Service Checklist I noted all of the items they claim to have performed: Vacuum Floors (not so), Wash Exterior Windows (not so), Check Wiper Blades (not so as the driver's side blade is seperated from the rubber).
Since these highly visible items were not done, I am suspect as to the "hidden things" having been done such as the fluid levels, air pressure in tires etc. All in all I would say the service I received did not measure up to all of the signage in the store touting how important service is to Jiffy Lube. My name is Kit Lindsay and I am a professional transmission mechanic, the owner of Lindsay Transmission in Warrensburg Missouri since 1984. I had a good relationship with the local Jiffy Lube until last week. Now I am letting everyone know why they shouldn't patronize this establishment. I overhauled the transmission in a 1998 Caravan for a local Highway Patrolman. We cover all of our work with a 36 month/50,000 mile warranty and we let our customers know that they don't need to service their transmissions until 50,000 miles has elapsed.
Well, this customer let Jiffy Lube talk him into servicing this transmission when he had gone there for a routine engine oil change. Shortly after that, he started hearing new sounds and felt the vehicle slipping and revving up on the highway. I guess he didn't think was too serious until the vehicle started making louder sounds and then failed to back up one day. Realizing the transmission was still under warranty, he brought it back to my shop, where we promptly checked into the problem. The first thing my tech noticed was that there was a gasket on the transmission oil pan.
Chrysler doesn't use gaskets on the transmissions they manufacture for their front wheel drive vehicles, and neither do we. We called the owner and he confirmed that the transmission had been previously serviced by the local Jiffy Lube. Upon disassembly of the transmission we found that the Jiffy Lube employee that serviced the transmission had neglected to install the o-ring seal that seals the filter inlet to the valve body casting. This was the cause of the "slipping" that the owner was feeling when he was driving down the road.
You see, the o-ring seals the filter so that the pump is able to draw transmission fluid in the proper way. With this seal missing, the transmission pump was drawing air which burned the pump, starved the unit of lubrication and eventually resulted in the failure of the transmission. I notified Jiffy Lube of our findings immediately. I was told by a Jiffy Lube employee that if they had made a mistake then they would take care of it. They had to verify that the vehicle had been serviced by them between the time we overhauled the transmission and the failure but their policy was to take care of the customer.
I wanted to make sure I was hearing this correctly, so I asked him to repeat the statement because I was going to call the owner and let him know that Jiffy Lube had agreed to pay for the repair. He said yes, it was their policy that they (Jiffy Lube) pays for any damages they cause. I called the owner and explained what happened, and told him that anyone could have made that mistake and that Jiffy Lube was going to take care of the repair bill, and we were going to do the repair at a greatly reduced price as a professional courtesy. He was happy, and I thought I had done a good thing, keeping Jiffy Lube and my industry as a whole from looking bad.
We completed the repair and I submitted the bill to Jiffy Lube for $1533.44 which was about $1100 less then the normal fee for this extensive of a repair. I got a call from the manager stating that they were unaware of this problem and I was going to have to speak with the regional manager in Kansas City. He told me that they weren't going to honor the agreement because the transmission wasn't inspected when it was apart and that the customer should have brought the vehicle back to Jiffy Lube instead of Lindsay Transmission when it started acting up. I was shocked!
I told him about my conversation on Monday with the local Jiffy Lube employee and he dismissed it saying that local managers are not qualified to authorize any repairs or payments. He told me that he would have to discuss this with his upper management team. I called the owner and explained this to him and got him involved in trying to get Jiffy Lube to make this right. His phone calls to the Kansas City central office went unreturned just like mine. Long story short, no Jiffy Lube employee will admit talking to me last Monday and they refused to take care of this problem. I was faced with a customer that needs his van back and of course, he doesn't want or think he should have to pay the bill.

Took our 2001 Dodge Intrepid to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. Employees suggested a radiator flush. They completed the oil change and flush and 15 miles later down the road, it was overheating and burning oil. Once in our garage we found out the oil cap was missing, and spewing oil everywhere. Also it overheated due to not enough fluid in the radiator. We then took it too the local Jiffy Lube in Marion Ohio and found out the water was mixing w/the oil. Then engine then died as we pulled into their garage.

Two years ago, I had taken my 1986 Jeep Cherokee in for an oil change. Although there was about 300,000 miles on the chassis, the engine was newer, having only 63,687 miles on it since it had been installed. I change my oil every 3,000 miles religiously. I usually do it myself but it was snowing that day so I took it to Jiffy Lube instead. I had done this about four times during my ownership of this Jeep. After changing the oil and filter, the technician at Jiffy Lube recommended a pressure flush of the cooling system, which I agreed to.
Later that day I noticed a puddle of antifreeze under the engine area of the parked Jeep. I opened the hood and found antifreeze dripping from where a heater hose was attached to the heater valve. I went to tighten the hose clamp up and as soon as I put pressure against the clamp, the plastic fitting the hose was attached to broke completely off the valve. I bypassed the valve until I could get a new one, and a couple of days later my engine started to run rough and miss at idle. It got worse, and I pulled the plugs.
#1 was coolant-fouled. Since I was in a town about 135 miles away from Klamath Falls, I took it to a four-wheel-drive shop where I had had work done in the past and trusted their knowledge and skill. They verified that the head gasket had blown or the head was cracked between #1 and #2 cylinders. They pulled the head and sent it out to have it inspected and surfaced (no cracks found) while they replaced the heater valve, and while they were at it they sent the radiator out to have it rodded.

My 2001 Camry was in the shop for an oil change on Sept. 06, 2005. Their shop order indicated date of service as Aug.31. After driving to the Jersey Shore on Wed., Sept. 07 and subsequent driving on Thurs. and Friday I noticed a strange texture to the rear pasenger mat. On checking further I found the floor flooded as was the case under the front pasenger mat. It took two days of mopping and shop vac. at home to suck up the water. On taking the car to my mechanic I learned that the air conditioner drain hose had been deliberately shoved up into the car body and that was the cause of the flood. It was fished down and the problem was eleminated. The mechanic asured me that this could have only been done deliberately as the hose was pushed well back from the opening.

I stopped to have an oil change only. He asked if I wanted the signature service and I said again oil change only.Told him my regular place had been using synthetic oil because of the mileage. He then came to me with an air filter that was dirty and asked if I wanted to replace it. I told him yes. I assume the signature service which was31.99, consisted of washing windows and vacuum floors. Do not believe they did the floors because I was getting ready for a camping trip and had things in the van on the floor. I know they did not move it.

I went to Jiffy lube for an oil change on Saturday, August 20th. After leaving I went home which is next door to Jiffy Lube. Later that night I went out about five or ten miles after driving my car started knocking, jerking and smoking. I had someone to look at it after it cooled down. He checked the oil and there was none. He filled the car up with oil and told me it would get me home. On the way home it started smoking again. The next morning I went to check the water and couldnt get the top off because it was put on half way and was stuck.

On Aug 10 we took in our 95" Nissan pickup to get an oil change. On Aug 18 my husband was dropping off the kids at daycare when the truck started puttering (this truck has never given us any problems). Then it turned off, my husband then tried to restart it which it wouldn't. He contacted Jiffy Lube in Manteca where it had been serviced and spoke to the Manager, the manager then referred him to Doug Brown a district manager.
When Doug went to investigate, they noticed that their was no filter on the truck. They back tracked the roads that my husband had taken and did not find a filter. He stated that he would contact my husband. Later that day we went to Manteca Jiffy Lube to file a complaint form. We did not hear from Doug for a few days, when we finally got intouch with him he told us to speak with Phil Dosuer since there was no filter on the truck Doug stated that Phil would be the one that would be able to help us. I contacted Phil on 8/23/05, explained what had happened. He in return insists that my husband call him in the morning the next day.

I work for a Jiffy Lube in NY, I was reading through some of the complaints you have posted, and not to be rude or anything, but some things just take a little a thought. For example, the broken windshield, the windshield was used, why should Jiffy Lube buy a new one, as long as it is fixed, and at minimum, holds the same value that the original was in, it should be considered even. The poor installation job, is not Jiffy Lubes fault, we do not install windows, talk to the person that does.
Also I read that Jiffy Lube has a big team of lawyers to lie and get out of being held responsible, well that's not totally the case. It only makes sense for a big franchise to have good lawyers. Working at Jiffy Lube I have seen many customers come in with false accusations that we "broke" their car. In most cases the customer either does not know what he/she is talking about, or more commonly is trying to scam Jiffy Lube into getting something for free at Jiffy Lubes expense. I've seen a lot of people place the blame on us for ridiculous things, and its really disturbing to see how people can really be.
So keep in mind, that even tho, yes Jiffy Lube employees are people, and do sometimes make mistakes, we are not trying to deny people who legitimately were wronged their dues, we are trying to protect ourselves from being taken advantage of.
Finally, I read a comment about how Jiffy Lubes are bad, and that people should take their cars to a local mechanic. Impossible, realize how many cars a day a place like Jiffy Lube does, a local shop could never do it. Also even people in small shops make mistakes and have to deal with the same issues Jiffy Lube does, you just don't hear about it, because it is a small business, not a nationally known franchise. Just think about that.

I had brought my 4x4 pickup truck in for Jiffy Lube's complete 4x4 service, including changing the fluid in the differential. Their employees had failed to properly torque the drain bolt on the differential and it had worked itself out of its hole. As a result, my differential locked up and wrecked itself, and destroyed my clutch in the process.
I had asked the employees at the local Jiffy Lube to make good the damages, and was referred to a manager who simply pointed at their national number on the shop wall and asked me to leave. This behaviour resulted in all of the current customers in the shop deciding to take their vehicles and leave. Heh.
I called the number, and was dumped into voice mail. I left a message, but was it was not returned. I then decided to send Jiffy Lube International certified mail explaining what happened, and demanding payment ($1200 worth of repair bills). They sent a letter back, claiming they had no responsibility for the local owner's actions at that shop.
I asked a relative (who was also a lawyer) to send them a demand letter, which they also ignored. Having had enough of this, I filed suit in Small Claims Court, and paid a process server to deliver the papers to Jiffy Lube's local corporate representative.
I got a letter back from their Houston main office, still claiming that they were not responsible for the local Jiffy Lube franchise's actions. Then I got a contradictory letter, from the same office, claiming responsibilty, but mentioning a Jiffy Lube in a completely different state. No one from Jiffy Lube even bothered to respond to the Court within the required 30 days, and so I applied for and got a default judgement.
I then sent a demand letter, with a copy of the default judgement, to Jiffy Lube International in Houston via certified mail. It was ignored! I then spent about $3 on pre-printed garnishment forms, and sent a certified demand letter to their Oregon rep, and added a warning that I was ready to begin garnishment.
The receipt for the certified letter, and the check for the full amount, arrived the same day.
In retrospect, I can see that Jiffy Lube was unable to do anything to satisfy my claim until forced to by threat of garnishment, and that they seem willing to ignore Small Claim Court filings, and let them go to default judgement. Oh well ... I did get my money, but only after a 6 month fight.
This is a great testimony to persistence. Jiffy Lube and many other national companies, we're told, routinely ignore Small Claims filings. That's good because, as Kris noted, the consumer can then request and often receive a default judgment. The next hurdle is collecting which, as Kris notes, is not easy either. It can be done, though. The key is to keep identifying persons and assets that can be targeted.
