I love my car and it was a great buy. Runs great. I bought it used. It's a 2014 Titanium. Runs and drives like a luxury car. Has all the bells and whistles on it also. Got it at Bartow Ford. The sales people are very friendly.

Our Escape is 2016 which in my mind means more in evaluation than those 'I just bought the car' surveys we often fill out. To still love and appreciate the car after almost 4 years exemplifies the quality and value that our Escape has provided. Basic maintenance is all that has been required. The cabin is as sound as the day she came away from the dealer. Big bang for the buck in my opinion.

I love my Ford Escape. It’s very comfortable and quiet. It has been very reliable and it has 4 wheel drive so it’s good on ice and snow. It’s been my favourite car so far. My Escape has lots of trunk room and I’ve hauled a love seat, coffee tables and a corner cabinet and a sideboard in it Which is very handy.

Purchased a 2019 Ford Escape 6 months ago. No issues till check engine light came on 1 week ago. Called dealer service dept and was told as long as light was not flashing car was ok to drive till they could schedule service (6 weeks). Two days later car broke down and was towed to dealership. Blown head gasket so engine needs replaced. They gave me a loaner to drive till it is fixed (6-8 weeks). As long as I can trust the replacement I'll be ok but I see way too many comments from people with the same issue. I'll probably get rid of the car before the 5 year power train warranty expires (and avoid Ford next time).

They say it's normal. I say that's Bull. I am now selling it back to the dealer and losing $ six thousand dollars. That sucks.

I bought a brand new 2018 Ford Escape se 1.5 liter. Within the first 8months of owning it and at 16,000 miles, it started idling strange and smelled like burning oil. I scheduled it to go to the dealership but drive it one more day and then the check engine light came on. Turns out that I had a blown head gasket, cylinder two was misfiring, and had coolant in my engine. I had to have my motor replaced at 16,000 miles. I was told this was a common problem with the 1.5 liter, called Ford corporate for a buyback but didn’t meet the guidelines. Then it had to go back again for a crack shaft seal leak. Got a call from my cousin who had purchased a 2019 and only had 11,000 miles and guess what, she had the exact same problem. Don’t waste your hard earned money on this piece of junk.

2017 Ford Escape Engine & Coolant problem. About 6 months ago I purchased a 2017 Ford Escape. I traded in a 2008 Ford Fusion (loved this car). My Fusion had over 120,000 miles. I wanted to be loyal to Ford and decided to buy an Escape. Miles at purchase 26k, I put on 8k. Car has 34k miles and I took it to a friend who is a mechanic to do the oil change. He would not touch it, told me it has an oil leak. Take it to the dealership immediately. I did, they would not even let me drive it into the bay for a write up. Why? because they told me they were so busy with other Escapes I had to take a number sometime in 2020. Really? My bumper to bumper warranty would be used up or I would break down. Not sure which would come first. I am so disappointed I cannot tell you.

I am single lady, I work. I have places to go and I need to feel safe and know that if I buy a Ford from the dealership they are going to stand by what they sell. I called Ford Motor Company (main number). Got a case number so I can start to document my issue. I had to post on the dealership's Facebook page to get their attention, they called me within the hour of the post. They gave me the red carpet treatment and my car has been there now for about a month. I have a rental and Ford Motor Company has called me weekly for updates on my overall experience. This is all great, my fear is now what's next? What kind of problem will I have with the car when I get it back?

Just a side note, my Fusion that I traded in was in the shop prior to trading it in for about 3 months waiting for new airbags. So this is not my first rodeo. However they were not the manufacturer of the Takata airbags and they replaced them. Gave me a rental. I was treated like a queen. I don't have a beef with how I eventually got my car into service. They have been great since I have been there but I am worried about how long will this car last me after I get it back. I don't buy a new car every other year. I keep them up to 8 or 9 years. I think Ford needs to make it a recall and offer an extended warranty for all of us who are going through this. It is a HUGE imposition for me to have to go through this and smile about it not to mention what kind of warranty do I have on the workmanship at the dealership and the parts? This is crazy to be making payments on a car that is in the shop for an undisclosed period of time. :( Any ideas?

We purchased our 2017 Ford Escape in December of 2018 with 20,000 miles. The engine light came on in June, it has been at the dealer for engine repairs since 7/11/19, we sent a letter to Ford, they blew us off with a voicemail message stating they cannot help us and to contact the dealer. They have 20 Ford Escapes at the dealer and it's not their fault this is occurring, we requested a buyback as we are not in any financial situation where we can throw money out the window on a lemon, we are very disappointed in their lack of help.

Purchased in May 2018. In February 2010 engine light came on and I was told a sparkplug was loose and broke off in the engine. Two months later the light came on again and I was told there was a coolant leak and the engine block had to be replaced. Last week the warning light came on 4 times in 1.5 hours telling me to change the oil. Monday, this week, I turned it on and I heard a loud banging noise. The car has been in the shop for 3 months and who knows how long this time.

My wife purchased a used Ford Escape in July 19 with about 30,000 miles on it. About a month later, she noticed a noise when she started the car. She took it in and was told she had a cracked block and needed a new engine. Fast-forward to the new engine installed and a few weeks later her engine light comes on. I run the Code reader and P0012 appears. We were on our way out of state that day and called the Service Dept. at the dealer and they indicated there would be no issue driving with the light on, as long as it wasn't continuously blinking.

So, off we go and I'm driving on I-95 in NC, the engine lights come on and car shakes and I pull off the road. Smoke pouring from the hood. Later check the oil and nothing registers. Towed to dealer in NC and after a look they indicate there is a hole in the block. 2 engines; cracked or with a hole? Mechanic said something about it needing a long block? I've seen some posts on here about blown engines on this specific vehicle. Any additional information? Wife not happy. Is this a Ford/engine lemon issue?

I bought a 2018 Ford Escape six months ago. I had had a 2005 Escape that wouldn't die. It was exceptionally reliable. That little SUV got this single mom to work everyday for years, then used as my kids' college mobile precisely because of its dependability. When I finally traded it for another Ford product, I actually missed it! My sister had recently bought a Ford Escape which I scooted around a couple of times and which made me want another. So I bought a lovely 2018. So happy.

Last week I took it to the dealership for its first oil change. On the way home I noticed that someone's car was blowing white smoke. No way could it be mine because my car was only 6 months on the road AND no warning lights were illuminating. I was wrong! Long story short. The car is at the dealership repair shop with a blown motor! The car has 5,000 miles on it! Something is very wrong. So, just like someone else mentioned, I am making payments on a car that is in the shop with no real timeline on when I'm getting it back. I'm not even sure I want it back! The dealership is being helpful and ironic. They have given me a replacement Escape to use. I keep looking in the rear view mirror for white smoke!

I bought a brand new 2017 Ford Escape SE. There are less than 42,000 kms on it and it has had all required maintenance done by Ford. In June 2019 I brought it to Ford due to it overheating. They found nothing wrong. I wasn’t satisfied, so they put it on a machine and still found nothing wrong. I had it checked a third time! A manager actually told me that it was fine, and when asked if I’d break down, he said no. Guess what? I broke down. The engine blew! It took a month to get the engine replaced but I have since learned there are several issues such as this with the Escapes! I feel vulnerable driving it. It is unsafe, unreliable and Ford needs to step up and take care of customers. They are selling inferior vehicles at a very high price. They need to stand behind their product by doing right by consumers. I am pursuing this issue with Ford and if I’m not satisfied, I will pursue legal action. Anyone want to join me?

They said there was a blown gasket and leaking coolant and to take it to the dealership since it’s under warranty and less than 2 yrs old. It’s been in the shop for 39 days and I’ve been told that cylinder #2 had a blown gasket that is leaking coolant and will need a new engine?!? This is obviously a Ford issue since it seems to be a problem with quite a few but no recall. The dealership is claiming they aren’t able to get the parts from Ford and my Escape will continue to sit there until someone figures out what to do. This is my 2nd Escape and I love the vehicle but Ford has let me down big time. I’m continuing to make payments on a vehicle that I have no idea when I will get it back or when it will be fixed. Major fail on Ford's part!!!!

We had a 2013 that had issues that we couldn't figure out. Wouldn't start. Wouldn't hold a charge. No one could figure it out. We ended up getting into a 2016 Ford Escape, but we were exceptionally reluctant. About 2-3 weeks ago, the exact same issues began. Seriously. We have to keep jump-starting our car. We reached out and were ignored after leaving several voicemails for the dealership. Finally, we reached them and they said it was a common issue but they couldn't get us in for THREE WEEKS.

So we are just stuck waiting for them to troubleshoot. But we are confident this is a larger issue than the battery. Ironically enough, 2 other neighbors are driving Ford vehicles (one an Escape, another a Lincoln) and the Escape owner traded in for same issues and the Lincoln is in the shop for... THE SAME ISSUES. This is absolute fraud of this company. Do NOT get a Escape. And, quite frankly, I wouldn't recommend a Ford. I don't know how they're ranked so high on this site because most of the recent ones are exceptionally bad.

Leased a 2018 Ford Escape because I wanted a dependable vehicle as my job requires lots of driving. Check engine light went on. Brought it to AutoZone thinking it might be something minor. The code that came up was P0302-indicating the cylinder 2 had too many misfires . Was told to take it right to the dealership as the car only had 32000 miles. The service guy was not surprised and told me it might need a new engine. They would check it out???? Called the next day said it would take 2 months to get an engine, they topped off the coolant and I was good to go. I was speechless. He told me my car is drivable and Ford will not pay for a rental. Less than 24 hours my car stalled out and had to have it towed to dealership.

It happened to be a Saturday and they had no rentals and no one seemed to care. The dealerships are only worried about making the sale but obviously not about keeping a customer. Went back today. No one knew my car was towed in. Guy in the shop told me he had 29 Escapes just like mine in his lot.. Ford is keeping this issue quiet.. I feel bad for innocent people not knowing what they are getting into. Talked to a leasing agent to get out of it and all he wanted to do is get me in a new Escape. I told him I will never buy a Ford again. He said I need to work something out with Ford credit. My lease is up in December.

I have been a Ford customer all of my driving life - 40 yrs. This car has taken my trust out of relying on Ford in general. First, my A.C. went out JUST past warranty at 39M miles. The cost out of pocket was going to be about $2700 to fix. Called Ford and they would not help - said there was not program right now to fix this. I was then informed that this is a common problem with this car from the dealership - but no recall has been made. From reading other reviews - others have had the same issue.

Fast forward - my car is in the shop right now being fixed as the coolant has been leaking in the engine and requires a new engine. White smoke was billowing from my exhaust - which from other reviews others have had this same exact problem. Again, no recall. I have 53M miles on my car now, which is just under the warranty time - so Ford gets to pay for this one. I am now concerned as I read these reviews that my transmission may be going as I have had some weird jerking when shifts gears. It seems that the parts are made to go out right after all warranties are up. This is sad and has left a bad taste in my mouth to ever purchase another Ford. Too bad because I really liked the Escape. Drives well and loves the highway - just poorly made and too expensive to keep...

Per Ford it has nothing to do with the recall even though that is exactly what the recall is about. Don't buy Ford for any reason. Same car had rust on bottom of 1 door. Took it in while under 3 years old to be told rust is not covered until it has a hole. Brought it back just before 5 year warranty expired only to be told the multiple holes were not big enough. Had to be bigger than a pencil. Really FORD. Poor products and they don't stand behind their warranty.

I tried lane keeping “alert” combine with lane keeping “aid” on my Ford Escape and on a couple of occasions my steering wheel tried to take my SUV into the “wrong” lane. If the intersection has a center barrier, the lane keeping aid gets confused, which in my case it steered me into an “oncoming” lane! I quickly countersteered it before it caused me to hit the center barrier, much to my passengers’ concern.

Another time at a wide multi-lane intersection that has a turn in it, at about 30 degrees, the lane keeping aid was steering me out of my lane into an adjacent lane (at 30 deg), which again made me countersteer, as it was potentially dangerous since an adjacent car may not have understood why I was changing lanes mid intersection without signalling. I disconnected the “aid” auto correct function, but appreciate the vibrating steering wheel’s “alert” function. I don’t think this auto-assist feature is right for city traffic, especially at multi-lane intersections on a curve.

I'm extremely frustrated with Ford. I have a 2014 Escape that needs a new transfer case. A very costly repair that I do not have the funds for. The car is only 4.5 years old and it should not have transmission issues. I know for a fact that this is an ongoing issue with Escapes dating back to the 2002 models. Why hasn't Ford recalled these vehicles? I've written to the CEO of the company via email and postal mail, to no avail. My a/c also stopped working last summer!

The internet is full of complaints regarding this issue with the transfer case. As advised by my local dealership, I contacted Ford to request financial assistance with the repair of the transfer case. The following is their reply to my email: "Thank you for contacting the Ford Customer Relationship Center regarding your recent vehicle concern. We have thoroughly reviewed your request and after careful consideration we regret that Ford is not able to provide financial assistance to address your issue. We are sorry that we were not able to meet your expectations at this time and recommend you continue to work with your Ford dealership to provide the best service for your vehicle in the future. Updated 12/18/2018: Ford contacted the dealership that has helped me with this piece of crap car and didn't offer no assistance. I am floored that a company that supports veterans and active duty soldiers, doesn't help us when it's needed most. I work hard every day and not having a dependable car is very stressful and nerve wrecking. I am nervous driving it. Well right now it's in the shop again. It was just there 2 months ago. Just give me another car please. Do the right thing by your customers.

Original review: I am a military veteran who purchased a 2016 Ford Escape in May 2016, the first month of purchase the transmission went out, the car is in the shop every year since then for major issues, instead of Ford replacing the vehicle, due to it being a lemon, it keeps getting fixed and breaks down again. I pay a car note on this vehicle and the deal that I received was awful, so the upside down cost will hurt me bad. I have driven the vehicle with my daughter in the car and bolts from the transmission replacement fell out, this has been a complete nightmare.

Ford’s intelligent 4-wheel drive is complete crap. I paid thousands extra to get a new 2018 Escape with 4 wheel drive. Turns out Ford’s idea of 4 wheel drive is to always be in front wheel drive until you slip, and then the 4 wheel drive engages. I paid the thousands extra because I knew I’d be in Wyoming in the mountains driving in snow, and now I’m digging my car out of a snow bank on the side of the road for the second time in 3 days. The 4 wheel drive doesn’t engage fast enough and is a complete waste of money, and way less safe. Don’t waste your money. Wish I could return this car. Does me no good up here.

Went to take car to dealership but now car would not start. After have vehicle towed there they called and said all the injectors were fine but said I needed a new long block which with parts & labor was $8000.00. They had my vehicle for over a week. Finally called me & said that the vehicle was ready on a Saturday. Monday morning and 30 miles later the engine light comes on again so I bring it back to the dealer and they did another diagnostic scan and came up with the exact same code as before (#3 cylinder misfire). I’m so frustrated with Ford and don’t know what to do next. Maybe legal action is needed since we paid $8000.00 for repairs and still have the same problem.

I own a 2014 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost 2wd. I bought it new in January 2014, it replaced a 2003 F150 Lariat 4x4 4 door that I dearly miss. The Escape is small... That was my first observation. My 6"1" hubby fit in just fine though. No real room to put life's necessities... not a good space to set a cell phone, the mail (door pockets are too small) or your purse if someone is in the passenger seat and only 2 front cup holders... again coming from the F150 with a center console and 4 front cup holders and a small space to set things and larger door pockets. But I loved the zippy motor and the better gas mileage. So anyway... I've had the Escape for 4 years 9 months and have 95,000+ miles on it (yes, I like to go places! Several road trips to Minnesota, Wyoming, Colorado etc)... not a single problem with it!!! Yoohoo!

Then I bring it to the dealership, Truck City Ford in Buda TX for the door latch recall and the shifter cable recall... after which the front passenger door wouldn't open while holding the electronic key fob and the window makes a clunk noise when rolled all the way down... And then I get a P1450 code on the motor (vacuum control valve for fuel system) ALL of these problems are related to the "shoddy" work (my personal opinion) done at the dealership.

They had to open the door panel and remove the window to replace the door latch, and didn't re-install it all properly. They fessed up and offered to fix that... Then my mechanically inclined husband was looking to repair the VCV that caused the code (not realizing it could be related to any work they did) and realized that they had to pull off the air cleaner (fuel system electronics are under air cleaner) and other stuff to get to the spot where the shift cable thingy is attached... The dealership caused all of the problems because of their recall fixes!

Now the car was great prior to all of this... like I said NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM! Until now... it seems my electronics are all "buggy" now. My phone wouldn't automatically sync, my front sensors work intermittently, the screen on my AC went black but came back... I'm afraid its days are numbered. I certainly do NOT recommend the dealership, particularly this one, doing any work on your vehicle.

After happily owning Japanese and Korean cars since the early 80s I felt it my patriotic duty to finally give an American car a chance, I bought a 2014 Ford Escape S with 90k from a Ford dealership in the Poconos Pa. There have been problems from the beginning. I’ve already spent 1000$ fixing transmission related issues. Tranny fluid all over my garage floor. 5 days with no transport. There still seemed to be some leaking even after repair. The Sync software system is filled with bugs and Ford stopped updating the 2014 S last time I checked the website. Outside temp gauge reads anywhere from the real temperature all the way down to minus 20... in the summer!

The audio system will suddenly blast the loudest volume at any time, without any knob turning. The A/C died as of yesterday on a cross country trip. Probably a compressor. The one positive is that I can get almost 38 mpg for highway driving (keeping it at about 55 or 60 mph) which is why I gave the car 2 stars instead of 1. Hard to say if the 2014 Ford Escape S is a lemon since it did have 90k when bought, but every single Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai I’ve owned all went into very high mileage with a minimum of issues. Very disappointed.

I have had problems with this 2017 Ford Escape and Ford Motor Company almost immediately. Going down the road late one night I heard a very loud bang. I thought I had a flat tire or hit something. It turns out that the undercarriage of the vehicle fell off. I drove home and the next morning drove directly to the dealership which was a total of 90 miles. The whole time I could hear rocks banging under the hood. I informed the dealership of this and told them they should really look the car over. I was sure the electrical system was damaged. All they did was replaced the undercarriage.

Since then... The phone randomly calls people, there is a very loud buzzing noise when you unlock the driver's door and doesn't stop until you turn the car on. The check engine light comes on when the fuel is below 1/2 tank, the passenger seat belt alert comes on randomly when there is no one in the seat. When sitting still and the engine stops and you put your foot on the gas it doesn't move then when it does it's at a high speed. It slows down when driving at a normal speed randomly, the molding in the trunk has all come up. I have put 400 miles on my lease taking it back to the dealership for repairs and things still keep happening. I've contacted Ford to beg them to buy the car back. Their answer is to just keep taking it to the dealer for repairs. Well the dealer has since sold out to someone else. This has been a nightmare. I just want out of this lease so that I can go buy something else.

I purchased a 2015 Ford Escape a year ago. It had 26,000 miles on it. Within 3 months the vehicle had a check engine light come on and I took it into the dealership. At the time they couldn't figure out the issue, replaced a filter and sent me on my way. Within 30 days the check engine light came back on. I took the car back in and was told it needed $1,200 worth of parts (emissions canister and ventilation filter) that were not covered under warranty. I did not replace the parts at that time. I moved to Denver in January of 2018 and the car was still having problems. I took it to a different Ford Dealer in Denver who charged me $450 to replace a defective evap purge valve. Immediately after getting the car back it ran worse. Last week the car broke down on the side as I was driving down the highway with passengers in my vehicle. Thankfully I was able to get out of traffic safely.

I had it towed to Ford and was out of a vehicle for 5 days waiting for a diagnostic. They said they were unable to "recreate the issue" and suggested I replace my fuel sensor at another cost of $450, although they weren't sure that was the problem. I told the service adviser that I thought it was the emissions canister and ventilation filter since I haven't replaced those parts, but he ignored me and insisted it was the sensor. I went ahead and paid to have the sensor replaced, picked the car up last night and it is still having stalling issues. The car has less than 60k miles on it, has been in the shop 4x in the last year and I have spent over $900 in maintenance for issues that are still not fixed. Ford has been sued in a class action over these parts in the Ford Focus (Rivera v. Ford) but refuses to do anything about a recall or replacement of parts even though this is a MAJOR safety issue.

The slower I drove the noise wasn’t as loud. I limped it to the dealership. The brakes had let loose in the front due to rusting. At the same time I was there I showed them bubbling rust at the back hatch and the bottom of the doors. I read where it was covered up to 50,000 miles so I didn’t get it in before 36,000 mile warranty was up. I was so busy at that time. Got new brakes and rotors out on but they would not fix rust because it has to have a complete hole, nit just bubbling rust. I called Ford because I was only over warranty 1500 miles. They said no problem go back to dealership and talk to manager.

She said they have some sort of account set aside for problems like this. It would be taken care of. Well that didn’t happen. Not long after battery died. Changed battery out now no air conditioning. No one can figure out why. Radio stays on after car turns off and multiple pushes on off to turn it off. Again, they don’t know why. I could go on and on with the problems of this Ford vehicle but tired of typing. Mind you this all happened at just 2 1/2 years of paying for this car. I long have paid this car off but can’t get rid of it because of all its problems. Talk about depreciation value. I have been a lifelong Ford buyer, have not and never will purchase another Ford. I never have understood those who do not do the maintenance when it is due but wait till the car tells you it's broken. Most every car out there is good but how can you tell who neglected it 5 years ago.

Anyway this SUV is like driving a sports car and will get good fuel mileage if you can learn to drive it for good mileage. Drive it hard, do not expect good MPG. I was able to get a loaded with option vehicle $10,000 off MSRP. Paid cash and very happy with another great vehicle. I like the Ford Pass available on Sync 3 that even tracks where your car is on a smartphone if you use it. Read the owners manual for all your maintenance schedules. It will last a long time if you keep up with it. Neglect it once or twice and it is now in a spiral slow death no matter who built it.

2014 Ford Escape vehicle is 100% not operational! It will not start up, no lights, can't move gears, it will not do anything... Completely dead... Ford is the worst vehicle I have ever purchase... Do not purchase a Ford because if anything happens Ford company will not take ownership and will make your life a living hell... My vehicle is completely not working, no shut on, no lights, no nothing... It was towed to a Ford dealership - Ford AutoNation in Union City on March 12, 2018 and is still just sitting there until this day. I was contacted and worked with service associate James the 1st week on answering questions, being informed that my vehicle is being looked at by the technicians but they can't determine why my vehicle is not working, saying that we have not seen a situation like this before...

I was contact the 2nd week informed that a body control module was installed which is usually the issue why the vehicle is not working, but still could not get vehicle to work. I was then told that they were going to contact a Ford engineer to have them to come out to inspect vehicle. Well a Ford engineer came out to inspect vehicle and the Ford engineer could not come up with a reason why the vehicle is completely not working... "Yes can you believe it, not even the engineers, the people who build the car have a clue to why my vehicle is not working." So of course Ford not taking any type of ownership in a vehicle that is made by them and completely not working. I was told to contact my insurance company based on an "assumption" by the engineer(s) that "maybe" it had some type of electrical surge caused by the vehicle being struck by lightning which is the result of the vehicle completely not working.

So, with more wasted time my insurance company (Progressive) was contacted and a claim was made. The insurance adjuster went out to the Ford dealership on 4/19/2018 and looked at my vehicle from front to back... And guess what... Per the adjuster there was "nowhere" on the vehicle where my 2014 Ford escape had "ever" been struck by lightning. I called Ford corporate claim # ** and was told by a rep that a call will be made to CarMax which is where I purchased the vehicle from to find out what was going on, come to find out speaking with the service manager ** at CarMax, he stated that he never received a call from Ford. Since then absolutely nothing has been done but pass the problem back to CarMax in Southlake which is where I purchased the vehicle from and CarMax passing the issue back to Ford... However this is a Ford issue, this is a manufacturer's issue. This vehicle is 100% not working...

Oh let me not fail to mention that I also purchase an extended warranty, that I can't use based on the fact that Ford can't even determine what's wrong with a vehicle manufactured by them. Which means that I am out of transpiration. My warranty only covers rentals if the vehicle is being worked on. Get it... Ford can't find and does not seem to even care to find the problem... So I have a 1700 warranty just sitting...

So I made contact again with the Ford corporate office on 4/27/2018 and spoke with representative Eric claim # ** who stated to just get a 2nd opinion at another Ford dealership. Allenvisual Ford was recommended since it was listed as the nearest location... I scheduled a towing company to go pick up my vehicle from AutoNation Ford where it has just been sitting since March 12, 2018. The towing company gets there and guess what... My vehicle could not be towed because my vehicle had not been put back together...

So I am still required to pay a 400.00 car note, 200.00 insurance, on a non running vehicle that has a warranty on it to a company who made a vehicle that just completely stopped running and the own makers can't even determine what is wrong with it and seems to care less about not standing up to its name... Below is more in depth story:

On March 7, 2017, I bought a 2014 gray Ford Escape vin # ** mileage 32209. I made this purchase at CarMax Auto Superstores, Inc., Located at 3100 Mt. Zion Parkway, Stockbridge, Ga 30281. Cash price of vehicle was $15,599.00, a down payment of 3000.00 was rendered. I accepted to get optional gap waiver agreement in the amount of 640.00 and the optional extended service contract in the amount of 1,659.00. I have 72 number of payments in the amount of 398.56 due the 21st of every month.

Unfortunately, your product has not performed well in good faith as I have relied on it to do because on March 11, 2018 I entered my vehicle and my vehicle was completely dead. I assumed that maybe it was the battery based on the fact that there was a prior issue with the vehicle not starting a month after I purchased the vehicle. My vehicle was towed at the expense of CarMax on March 24, 2017 back to sales location where I was told according to the diagnostics vehicle was dead due to a bad battery. Based on the fact that it was past the service center hours I waited until the next day to contact the service center. After having concerns as to why I had the issue with my vehicle being completely dead I made a decision to have my vehicle towed to the AutoNation Ford dealership located 4355 Jonesboro Rd, Union City, Ga 30291.

My vehicle was towed on March 12, 2018 to AutoNation Ford where I spoke to service representative ** who informed me that it would be a few days before a diagnostic could be given on vehicle. Within a few days I did receive a call from service rep ** stating that vehicle would not come on as it was completely dead so needed to do further diagnostic on it. While services were being rendered on my vehicle I was given a rental under the provisions of my extended warranty contract. I also contracted CarMax at the Stockbridge location and spoke with the service manager ** informing him of the issue with the vehicle, letting him know how dissatisfied I am as a consumer knowing that CarMax is a company that takes pride on selling great vehicles. ** was very unprofessional and showed no concern in a matter that was very urgent.

As of April 25, 2018 I my vehicle has still not been repaired, not CarMax or the Ford dealership has a clue as to what is going on with my vehicle. I would like to bring some key factors to your attention as to how I have patiently tried to work with CarMax Southlake and Autonation Ford on resolving such a issue that has caused me pain and suffering, loss of sleep, financial burden, family neglect, and call outs.

My vehicle is still not working at all. Has been at Autonation Ford since March 12, 2018. Ford technicians determine that they could not determine what was going on with the vehicle so called out Ford engineers. Ford engineers came out and could not determine what was going on with vehicle but suggested that it was a possibility that it may be an electrical surge due to vehicle being struck by lightning. It was suggested that I contact my insurance company.

On 4/19/2018 I had to turn in my rental, at this point I don't have any transportation based on the fact that the extended warranty only covers rental when services is being done on vehicle but based on the fact that no one can determine why the vehicle would not shut on, no services were being rendered at that time. A claims adjuster did go out to Autonation Ford on 4/19/2018 to inspect vehicle where it was determined that there were no parts of the vehicle that had ever had any contact with lightning.

Vehicle was towed back to CarMax on 4/20/2018 still not working, still completely dead. I have asked to speak to upper management when contacting CarMax Southlake with all calls being routed back to the service manager **. I have contacted Ford corporate office 4 times claim # **, where absolutely nothing has been done to resolve the issue, last contact with the Ford corporate customer care was on 4/27/2018 where I have contacted several parties including; Carmax Southlake service department, Carmax Southlake business office, Autonation Ford dealership 7706746075, Carmax customer relations, Ford corporate 18003923673 claims # **, Progressive insurance **.

In short Ford motor does not take ownership of metal fatigue in wheel wells and dealership (Arlington Ford) admits there is a problem, but does not want to fix it, they say it's a Ford company issue. Customer Service (case # **) throws up the hands and says it's my responsibility to fix it. Look online and see the number of 2011/12 having metal layers separating.

Purchased a 2012 Ford Escape (new) along with a 72 mo/75K mile extended warranty. This car is and always has been meticulously maintained: Washed and waxed regularly, serviced. I have almost 54,000 miles on it and just noticed rust on it about 2 months ago, also that the paint on the driver side rear fender is starting to bubble. I looked in the wheel well and it is completely warped and rusted on outside edge, right up to the paint. There are 2 pieces of metal come to together to form a seam there, and when I put my hand up there, I can feel that the seam is open and the upper layer is torn in multiple places. I looked over at the passenger rear wheel well and it is not as bad, but is starting to warp and rust. The front 2 seem fine.

I immediately took it to the dealership. One of the managers at the desk looked at it and said this is a known problem and design change in 2011 and 2012. He said my warranty will not cover the cost to fix it and the standard 60 mo/unlimited mile Perforation Warranty will only cover it if there is a hole. He told me to contact Ford Motor Company directly. There is nothing they can do. So basically, if a hole doesn't appear the warranty is not, I'm on my own. I took it to my body shop and they said that their patch kit made to repair this issue for the driver side and passenger side. Cost of $1500 per side. They can spray some rust proofing protector up inside to try to prevent any further damage.

I had the spray done when I bought the car, but they said the same thing, it must have a hole. And have no guarantee. I wasn't going to give up on this car until now. I am very upset and angry as I had just finished paying it off last Fall. $30K. I am done with Ford and done with dumping money into cars that rust after having 5 Ford cars that rusted. I figured they would have figured out by now. 5-year old cars shouldn't rust out. I think the only thing I can do is fix the rust and trade it in as soon as possible before something else rusts through or falls apart. It will not be another Ford. Looking online I see this is a North American issue on Ford Vehicles. Canada government got after Ford to fix it.

A few months after purchasing my vehicle brand new the left brake system went faulty and failed while driving on the freeway with my son. It was metal on metal and extremely scary and with no explanation from Ford as to why this happened. Then in November of 2017 the engine blew while driving on the freeway again with my young son as a passenger again with no explanation as to why. Ford did replace the brakes and engine. However I have had the vehicle back in the shop due to the check engine light coming back on and the engine makes a funny sound now and the car drives horribly.

I dropped my vehicle off two days ago with the promise of a loaner which is under my warranty and was shuttled to work and left with no vehicle the entire day. I had to leave work early to be shuttled to an Enterprise and pay the rental fee and insurance. It has been two days now with no diagnosis to what is wrong with my engine except that there is something wrong and it could be Tuesday until I hear anything. I have already been without my new vehicle for over a month's time due to all these repairs and had to make numerous trips and schedule rental cars. Well last January my car kept dying. So much that I had to have a portable jumper with me at all times. Everywhere I went. I had changed the battery and checked the alternator. No problems there. The car continued to die. I brought it in and Ford kept it for two days and couldn’t figure out why this was happening. They couldn’t fix it and when I went to pick it up they handed me a 1000 dollar bill.

I refused to pay it since they did nothing. I offered to pay them 200 but they said I had to pay. I blasted them on Facebook. All of a sudden my car was free - still not fixed. I went to a friend who had just starting working as a mechanic. He found the problem in 3 min and fixed it for 100 total. Fast forward to January 2018. I was rear ended and had a flat tire. When my husband came to fix it the spare was dry rotted. Ford was literally across the street and even though I didn’t want to I had to take it there. I wasn’t sure how far my car would’ve made it to.

The bad spare. When I got there I find out that they put me on a do not service list and won’t change my tire because I blasted them on Facebook. I’m not making this next part up. They put me in a little room for “bad customers”. It wasn’t the waiting area. This was a room where I sat all by myself and they came in and proceeded to yell at me. I told them to look at themselves and said, "Why wouldn’t I blast you? Look at what you're doing?" They made me borrow a car from a friend and wouldn’t change the tire for 2 days. Don’t buy a Ford. They will make everything difficult. Worst company around.

It cost me over $1,000 to get it fixed - and a similar amount for the seller of the car the first time it was "fixed". The vehicle was finally seemingly fixed but after less than a year it has gone out again. Apparently if you get one of these lemons it is impossible to keep the A/C fixed. I went online only to find that hundreds of people have had the same problems - and Ford will not do a damn thing about it. In April 2016 I purchased a 2014 Ford Escape with 30k miles on it. I needed a reliable vehicle for my family, I was tired of breaking down and having to fix older vehicles. Everything was ok at first. In mid October 2017 (50k miles) the heat stopped working, check engine light came on, then it started overheating. Do research and find out there was a recall on coolant leaking and the engine catching fire. The resolution and parts were not available at that time. So I bring it to the Ford dealership. At first they wanted me to pay $600. I said "No, don't fix it. I will wait for the remedy to come out." Finally someone submitted my request to Ford. They had my car for 4 days (1 day rental car) and I ended up paying a $100 deductible. Everything was ok.

Now a month later November 18th 2017 I'm driving on the highway and the car starts revving high and slowing down so I pull over to the shoulder (kids are freaking out). I put it in park then try to drive and it won't move. I turn it off, wait a couple minutes and it moves a few feet then starts revving high and not wanting to go. I wanted to make it to safe place (1/2 mile away). So every few feet I was shutting off the car and going a short distance. At one point I was stuck in the middle of a 4 lane highway.

I finally made it to a parking lot and had to have someone pick up me and my family. Now my car is parked in this parking lot, transmission done. It's Sunday so Ford dealer is closed. I have to call tomorrow and hopefully I can get the transmission fixed. I'm at 53k miles, the powertrain warranty is 5yr/60k miles. I'm a single mom of 2 kids who works full time. I'm writing this review in case someone is considering a 2014 Ford Escape. I would not recommend this vehicle, I wish someone would've warned me. I have always bought Ford, but my daughter in law bought a Focus at the same time I got the Escape and she had continual transmission problems. This is the LAST Ford I will buy. They are definitely not building the products they once did.

Just found out I'm having same issue with my 2006 Mercury Mariner as many other people with Mariners/Escapes. Inside the passenger side rear wheel well is all rusted out and the shock tower assembly is unstable due to rust.Three local shops would not touch it as it is a big job and safety issue including our local Ford dealership in Mishawaka. When I called Ford there is no bulletin on recall/fix. Have 105000 miles and keep my vehicles in excellent shape inside and out. Appears to me to be a undercoating or rustproofing issue. I guess enough people have to call or email Ford, (Go to Ford website) and they said if enough people complain they will look into. Looks like they addressed this issue with 2000-2004 models. I wish a class action lawsuit was started.

I have only owned Ford vehicles but that's about to change. They never have time or parts to do recalls first of all. Second I drove my 2014 Ford Escape from Colorado down to Texas and my ac goes out which I can't have both my husband and I with our infant in a car hot sweating in a car that's only blowing hot air. Try everything ourselves to fix the problem since none of the dealerships can see us and all the other car shops said they didn't know and I had to take it to the dealership... So lucky my husband ttys everything fuses, air filter and it turns back on. We drive back to Colorado and the next day turns off again so we take it to the dealership... Guy tells me he will let me know before the end of the day... Never calls so I call a minute before they close because now I have to get a rental car and still nothing heard on my vehicle.

Next day I come in to get papers I need out of my car and they take forever to bring it around. Well my battery died and they had to jumpstart my car and I walked to my car by myself. Nobody walked with me. No one said what happened. No one helped me but I played with the a.c. and it worked again. Told the guy it worked after they jump started my car, he didn't do anything. I asked him repeatedly if they could check my battery and he said its the hvac and its going to be 500+ labor and tool fees. I still wanted my battery checked.

Next day got a call saying I could pick up my car. Its working now. Get there and picked up my vehicle. Asked about the battery and they said it was perfectly fine and nothing was wrong with it. Saw and took pics and video of how they left my car dirty and dusty and didn't check the top module because it was frozen on a time and date and temp... But I paid. They said they would pay for the two days of rental but its been almost a month now and still haven't gotten our money back.

Then a week later I'm stranded with a dead battery. No ac again. Called ford to give us a jumpstart because I had my family my infant with me and took it back to ford to do more test. They said the same thing that it was good then came back said it wasn't good so paid for a new battery and now a few days later I have no ac again and I leave back home to Texas in 2 days. Had to buy fans to use for the car so my infant won't over heat. Read a lot of reviews about the hvac not working!!! Ford!!! You should have a recall and actually fix the problem because I don't want my family to suffer of heat strokes from a faulty ac hvac module... I already paid for my services so I deserve to have the service I paid for. They even asked after saying they couldn't do the recall that they did it after I had signed and I had told them not to because I did not trust that dealership.

Rotting rear window hinge - Ford has had this problem for almost 15 years. Their inability to fix and in many cases even acknowledge it is criminal and they should have issued a safety recall. There are thousands of reviews of the same problem that they claim were not aware of and in the same breadth say it is not their problem. Well actually it is their problem because of their arrogance and inability to responsibly handle this issue I will never ever buy another Ford product. Seems that a class action lawsuit would be appropriate in this case.

True, I live in a rust belt state, Michigan, but NONE of the 25/30 Fords we have purchased presented such pain. This is actually my second Escape, having purchased a 2009 first. This car in less than five years has multiple trust issues, but I was floored when the hinges holding the rear window shattered, exposing corrosion that was not visible until too late. $370 later, Ford tells me to basically suck it up. That is a pretty big surprise for someone on social security. Another one know of any class action suits in process? Sounds like that may be our only hope.

We own a 2013 Ford Escape and have had all warranty repair and service work done at Vancouver Ford in Vancouver WA. We Love Vancouver Ford, however recently after having the transmission rebuilt 50,000 miles ago, and the power train warranty being 100,000 miles, the Torque converter went out at 101,000. We asked for a good faith repair on the warranty and were told that Ford Motor called the dealer and offered assistance to us to repair the car. The local dealership said "yes", then Ford said they would get right back to them, the dealership told us and we have waited and waited, then Ford has refused to return the service manager’s phone calls and emails.

We called multiple times a week, while paying for a rental car daily, it is the end of 2 weeks going on a third now and after I cannot count the number of phone calls. I am told that someone did not upload a repair service order and therefore they are only offering 300, that doesn't even touch the rental car, left alone the 2200 before taxes repair bill, plus a 3 week rental car.

We own a 2013 Ford Escape, and talked our in-laws into a Ford Edge, and we’re in the process of debating the New Taurus or the Edge for a second car and now this. We will be rethinking about the way we have been strung along for 2-3 weeks racking up a rental car debt daily as we’re calling and the service manager is calling, and no one at Ford is returning even the service manager’s calls. I would not think twice if the vehicle had 110,000 or 120,000, but 101,000? I have to say we Love Vancouver Ford and the service department is topnotch, however someone has dropped the ball here somewhere and we’re paying for it. Very disappointed right now.

After reading the reviews on consumer affairs site we are suddenly not surprised by the issues with our 2014 Escape SE w/ EcoBoost 1.8 ltr. My wife informed me that the car was pulling to the right and was getting worse. On an afternoon drive down the highway I found that it was worse than I expected. Later, after a nice lunch I checked the air pressure and it was perfect. We took it to True Line and they diagnosed a radial pull and stated the alignment was good. They then crossed the front tires which resulted in a slight left pull. At only 18,000 miles with no hard driving this was a surprise to us. We took it to the dealership where it was purchased and after much debate they are now running their own check to determine the cause, hopefully.

The tires are badly worn and the car is handful to drive. So at best they have offered to split the cost of tires, but we are really hoping they find the cause. We also had tire hummus with the Ford Focus that we had that we traded this car in for. What the problem was never really fixed after changing tires a year later and still needed tires again and they insisted there was nothing wrong with the front end of their car.

I received a recall notification 14S05 from Ford about my 2008 Ford Escape. The recall was for a faulty torque sensor that could go out causing you to lose power steering while driving resulting in an accident. The recall stated the torque sensor would either be reprogrammed or replaced. Since ours had not yet failed or produced a service code the Ford service center just reprogramed it instead of replacing it. Just recently the torque sensor failed as expected and my power steering lost power while driving through a parking lot. I did not have the strength to turn the wheel and had to just stop and leave the car in the lot until someone could come help me. I brought my car back to the same dealership that performed the original recall repair and I am being told that the recall has been performed and now I must pay them to replace the torque sensor.

After spending time researching the issue online I discovered that this is a widespread problem and it is apparent that Ford is only replacing the sensors if they have already failed when you bring your car in for the recall. If it has not failed then Ford only does a reprogramming that doesn't prevent them from failing and just adds a chime and a dash light to warn you that it's failing as it's failing. That allows Ford to close out the recall on your vehicle and save money on a replacement part that is known and expected to fail as stated in the recall letter. I don't understand how this is legal for them to do. I talked to several of Ford's service managers and customer service representatives and they all give the standard rehearsed answer.

In August I was involved in a wreck and had to obtain a rental vehicle. I was provided with a Ford Escape. Unfortunately, every time I put the brake on the car would stop, and then when I let off the brake it would start again. This resulted in gas fumes coming back into the car making me nauseated, giving me a headache, and making me very sleepy. At first I thought, "Okay, they're trying to save gas," but I think it takes more to start a car than it does to keep it idling at a light.

Since it was affecting my health and I was concerned about passing out behind the wheel, I returned it to the rental agency. Naturally, being a woman, they laughed at me behind my back and do all these other men, and there were customers and begin laughing too. They went outside to test it and because of the gas to use the road with all the windows down on the way back, and didn't turn the AC on, so there were no gas fumes in the car at that time. Both the manager of the rental place and his sales associate said it was normal for a Ford Escape to do that. I'm here to tell you it's not normal. Headaches, nausea, sleepiness, and above all gas fumes coming back into the cabin is not normal. That's just how stupid they were.

This second time Pundmann Ford claimed it was a redesigned axle half shaft which cost over $300 to repair. I've driven the car about 5000 miles since and now my ball joints on the left front are starting to go out and rattle. I refuse to take the car back to Pundmann Ford because I feel they caused the problem with the ball joint. I will replace them myself. I see no other recourse because I do not trust Pundmann Ford to come back with an honest answer as to why the left front ball joint failed when the ball joints have to be disconnected to repair the axle half shaft. I know they will claim it was a failure due to age and or mileage.

I have 2000 Toyota Tundra 4x4 with 326000 miles with the original drivetrain without any problems. I also have a Lexus RX300 that has no problems with 220000+ miles. Made split second decision to exit off highway as I passed an exit and am glad I did. The vehicle essentially stopped moving as I got to the end of the off ramp. I was lucky that it "rolled" to the side - barely - with a truck right behind me who was observant and went around me. It seemed like a transmission/power train issue to me.

Found a handy Ford Emergency Roadside Assistance card in my glove box and was relieved to see I was within the time frame as it is offered for the first 5 years/60k miles. My car has 52k. They sent a tow truck who towed it to the nearest Ford dealership which was 8 miles away in Norwich, CT. I called ahead (4:30 pm on a Fri), but they can't look at it until Mon. Now I have to borrow my sister's vehicle to get back home and she will bring mine back to swap cars once mine is fixed - and I'm hoping that will be within the week! Assuming it's the transmission, the repair should be covered under warranty. But overall I'm not feeling good about it - having made the move to buy Ford after years with Toyota. Has anyone had problems with their 2016 Ford Escapes? I am leasing a Titanium right now and have not had it a year yet and am having transmission issues with this vehicle. I leased a 2013 SE Ford Escape and was happy with it and had no transmission issues. The 2013 Escape was not a Titanium and was an all wheel drive vehicle with a towing package. The 2016 Titanium model I drive now is a front wheel drive vehicle with no towing but has navigation and Sirius Radio.

Over the past 4 months, I have noticed jerking when I drive and when my husband drives (2 different drivers). It started first when putting it in reverse but now it is doing it in drive as well. I believe it is a computer chip but I just called Taylor Ford and the service guy said he is booked on transmissions until next Monday. That is the soonest I can bring it in to the dealership I leased it at. I told the guy that I really don't believe it will last that long and I have no other car I can use until this is resolved. I would contact another dealer as it is still under warranty but another dealer isn't going to want to do warranty work on a car they did not lease to.

I had no issues with my trans on my 2013 so it is not my driving and as stated earlier, my husband has had the same problem with this vehicle as well. Ford has a real problem on its hands and I have been talking to other titanium owners and some of them are having the same issues as well. Until Ford gets their ** together on these transmissions, I would stay clear of their Titanium Escapes! Buyer beware. Wish me luck on my car as one week is a long way away.

Also, my friend bought a Focus Titanium and she is having the same issues as well. The dealership she took it to told her it was the electronic clutch and it was the way she was driving. Really?? The dealership she took it to was not the dealership she bought it at so again, buyer beware of these Titanium Fords and even though you are supposed to be able to take your vehicle to any dealership, my friend did not get her issue resolved at a closer dealership. I will let you know what the issue is and how long it took for the repair when this gets resolved. Again, I am hoping it is a chip issue. I don't think so as for me to have to wait to get this looked at when it is acting up so badly is not very comforting. The car otherwise is pretty cool. The car is great otherwise.

In the shop now and they have so many transmission problems at the dealership that they won't get it done for about a week and a half (dealer estimate). We had a transmission failure just before the end of the original warranty, which caused me to lose confidence in the vehicle design. We decided to get the extended warranty as opposed to dumping the car. It seems that the 2 liter ecoboost engine puts out too much power for the drive train. I love the power, I love the handling, I love the car in every way except that the power train cannot seem to handle all the lovely power.

I bought a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. After only owning it for less than 2 years my rear wheel well has completely rusted out. The manufactured spray coating used to "protect" the vehicle only hid the rust issue and allowed it to grow exponentially worse until the whole wheel well fell out. After multiple inspections and countless times working on the car no one had any idea. After doing some research I found this was a problem with hundreds of other Ford Customers. Before I enjoyed owning a Ford so much my fiance bought a brand new 2015 Ford Edge. Now I have a sour taste in my mouth and feel Ford should issue a recall for this issue. Ford quoted me $5,610 for a new transmission and I thought they were kidding me. I have called the corporate office and they all say the warranty for the transmission is 60,000 miles. I have never heard of a car needing a new transmission under 100,000 miles. And my driving is mostly interstate driving. I referred two friends that bought Escapes and they are worried now. I bought a left over loaded $37K list Escape 2015 for $31K, with zero down and zero percent financing for six years. Great deal. Great car. All glass roof, awesome 9 speaker stereo with Sirius and HD radio, leather seats, lumbar adjustment, gas mileage in the mid 20's. Generous seating and tons of storage space in rear. Nice rubber surrounds on exterior to prevent dings. How the hell can you go wrong with this car for this kind of money, and I've owned a few Mercedes and BMW's over the decades. Love the yellow light that comes in your side mirrors when some car is in your blind spot, but I wish that yellow light was larger.

Only complaint is the Michelin tires are pretty worn at 36,000 highway miles. But then again, they are made in France and not America, so why would I be surprised by poor quality. I'll be replacing the tires soon and you can be damned sure I'll be buying American made tires with 60,000 mile life. Oh yeah it's Eco boost which I think is turbo with the bigger 2.4 liter engine which has plenty of torque.

Fast forward 4.5 years...After taking excellent care of this car it began to rust in BOTH rear wheel wells. I called the dealership as I was within my rust warranty still. They had heard this complaint MANY times and knew exactly where the rust was going to be. They also said Ford wouldn't cover it under their warranty. I was stunned (I still am), I mean I sill owe money on this car!

I also learned that Ford has no chain of customer service reps. There was no one else I could talk to. I contacted everyone, including the president, Vice President etc and received nothing but a generic--we still won't cover you--reply back. Not even a sorry or any sign anything but a computer typed out the reply. I think their lack of customer service is worse than their product. At least I will have evidence as I strongly urge people to buy ANYTHING but Ford products. I will continue to make their faulty product and lack of concern for the customer known. It is utterly unacceptable.

I purchased a new Ford Escape with about 6 miles on it. When the vehicle got to little over 10,000 miles on it the brakes started squealing when you backing up. It wasn't a little squeak. So I took that into the dealer and they deglazed the brake pads and said it should be fine now. It wasn't... so I took it back. They then said something had moved and was rubbing on the rotor that was fixed and now everything would be fine now. It wasn't... so I took it back. They then proceeded to grind down the rotors (without talking to me first). They stated that the Ford warranty had gaps in it and that was the only thing they could do to fix it that would be covered even though the vehicle still only had about 14,000 miles on it. I just got it back after it's FIFTH trip to the service department.

They didn't do anything to it because they said that they sent a request to the Ford Hotline to ask if they could replace the brake pads and cover them on the warranty (even though they still say there is no wear on the pads). The response from Ford was, "THAT'S NORMAL." Since my co-worker cover their ears if they are walking past my Escape when I am leaving the parking lot, I'd say that's not normal and they of course agree. Everyone knows that is not normal. We don't walk through parking lots covering our ears. How embarrassing!! If Ford Motor Company considers that normal - then they are selling an INFERIOR product. Would anyone like to buy an Escape that makes a squealing noise if I throw in ear plugs? I won't be purchasing any Fords in the future and will be looking into the Lemon Law.

Mercury Mariner 2009 - On February 1, 2016 as I was turning left at an intersection, my power steering went out. I was barely able to keep it on the road. Had this not happened at approximately 10:30 PM when very few cars were out, I would have been involved in a serious accident. Right before the power steering went out, the red battery light came on. The yellow engine light was also on. The power was out for about 5 minutes, a "click" sound was made, and the power steering for a few minutes. Another "click" sound was made, and the power steering went out again. Another "click" sound, and it returned. Even though Mercury Mariners for 2008-2011 were recalled for loss of power steering, and I took it to the dealership where they told me they reprogrammed the power steering control module, I still had this happen to me. I read online that the exact same thing is happening to other people!!!

I called Ford customer service and all they would tell me is that there is no recall on my car. The real kicker is I purchased the extended warranty and it's effective until 1-29-2019 and this happened on 2-1-2016. They will not give any grace period nor cover any of the expenses. Shortly after purchasing the car, I had to take it in for 4 transmission issues (3-2010, 3-2011, 6-2011, and 6-2011). I hate this car. I've read some of the other reviews and have some of the same problems. The whole undercarriage and all around the bottom of car is totally rusted, my running board snapped off. It's so rusted, the e-brake doesn't work and who ever checks the e-brake when you buy a car, but now I will. I had no idea that a Ford Escape has 3 catalytic converters in it and 2/3 needed to be replaced so I can't get a good inspection sticker and as I have found out the reason it's so expensive to fix is because they have platinum in it, that's why they get stolen all the time.

The last straw was that when I go into drive then drive it, it doesn't recognize it's in park so I have to play with it, restart it, drive it, play with the shifter, then when it feels like it, it recognizes it. The big problem with that is you can't take the key out of the ignition if the car doesn't think it's in park!!! Never again. The best part is I'm late for work every day and embarrassed by the time I actually get out of my car. The dealership I went to took back the car 2 times because the check engine light was on and they somehow painted black over the check engine light when they returned it so I thought it was fixed. I'm not at all sure what this will do with an all wheel drive car and Have not been able to find any articles yet. Ford's answer was. "Some vehicles don't have spares." Care comes with Sirius Radio build in. It keeps trying to acquire signal but goes off all the time for no reason I can come up with. Ford's answer to this was: "It need a software upgrade, but one does not exist."

Car does not get anywhere close to the mileage it claims to get. Mine is rated on the sticker at 21 city and 28 highway. It actually gets about 18 city and so far the best I can get on a 1000 mile true is 24 highway. I am use to driving a hybrid and I don't have a heavy foot. I doubt if anyone could do much better. Maybe the same thing that happened to Hyundai needs to happen with Ford. They had to pay owners for lying about mileage claims. I guess the worst part of my ordeal with Ford is the fact that they acted like they just didn't care. Looks like I'm stuck with my problems. I hope it helps you avoid them. Took me 25 years to buy another Ford. I probably won't live long enough to try another one.

We purchased our 2013 Ford Escape in June 2015. Our car has under 43,000 miles under it and has just undergone its "first" Recall repairs over a couple of days ago. Shortly after picking it up from Ford Dealership the right headlight does not work. Instrument panel dash says "bulb fault message". Weird thing is the car is driven 90% in day time with NO lights on and the light is lit up again on the Instrument Panel. We were told that ALL Recalls on our Ford had been addressed and repaired. Obviously not, since we just picked it up last night and once again the "snowball effect" has happened just as the hundreds if not thousands of Ford Escape owners have said it would on Ford.com, Better Business Bureau and Recall websites for the Ford Escape.

I am writing my reviews so that another family does NOT have to go through this. Prior to our Ford Escape we are driving home from work and taking the Exit to get home the temperature control on Instrument Panel goes ALL the way up and stays and then a couple of minutes longer it goes down. Within less than a minute there is the smell of something burning and I get the "Temperature Emergency drive to safety" as the car is powering down and barely rolling within four lanes of traffic after getting off a MAJOR four lane highway.

Yes, Ford did fix the supposed 7 Recalls but I was only given paperwork for the one which "can result in the vehicle catching fire". We received the car back from Ford Dealership and the floor mats are covered and stained with grease and oil from someone's shoes. The right headlight is completely out and the notification message was on the Instrument Panel Screen. Apparently whoever came and brought us the car can't read to see that this is NOT normal working condition nor see that the passenger seat is stained with oil and grease of some kind along with the floorboard carpets on the drivers side.

I reported what happened to our car to the Pre-owned dealership where we bought it and was told to take it the Ford Dealership just down the street, have them repair the recalls which I found out my car was under NOT them for the potential for the car to catch on fire due to the factory defects and design. Again, I am writing this review to save someone else's family for having to go through what we had. I was told to have it repaired at the Ford Dealership, it was "incorrectly and not fully completed" and still have ongoing issues. I was told by the original car dealership that once all Recalls were done that they would help us by trading us out of the vehicle that we have had less than 7 months. We did what we were told to do and it's still not fixed 100% and we have now been told that they cannot help us as the value of our car is over half less than what they sold us the car for less than 7 months ago.

So, we are basically being punished for owning the car they sold us for over 23,000.00 and due to the defects they were aware of and notified of as Recall has been out there since April 2014. And, this is just one Recall!!! The more I research and learn the more I find out how dangerous this car is and how it can put whoever owns one in danger. The Recalls I have seen are airbags, seat belts, electrical, issues with engine potentially catching on fire, acceleration problems and even more as I research. Our next step is getting a Recall Lawyer who handles these cases. If you have a Ford Escape with any of the problems be sure to post your complaint online and on Ford.com.

Then on this past Monday it got worse and the wheel started vibration. Took it to dealership, tech driver says it is the transmission. Some salesman named Tripp comes up and says this guy doesnt know what he talking about. Finally after fussing... they do not have a transmission specialist at this dealership, they are going to look at it.

I'm like it's a Brand New Car... it should not have any problems with it. I finally called and talked to someone Wednesday before Thanksgiving. She says they have been in contact with Ford... it's not transmission, but all they can find is the axle has a little play in it... so they are replacing the axles. How the front axles made the back of the car shake is beyond me. All I know is that I am unhappy with this. We have purchased 3 previous F250 Trucks and had no problems. This car should not have had any when purchased and should be taken back, and one with no problems given to me. When you pay 30 plus thousand for a car... you expect everything to run with no problems. Still not sure my car will be fixed. With this, all I can say is that I will not recommend any Ford Products.

I have a 2011 Ford Escape with just under 37,000 miles. About 2 weeks ago the truck started "jerking" when stopping or accelerating, sometimes violently like the back brakes were sticking. I took it to our mechanic twice and they could find nothing wrong with it, no codes, fluid levels full, back brakes working freely and properly. They could not get it to duplicate what it was doing for me. A week ago I took it to the dealer (Howell Motors) and told them the issue. Because I could not get the problem to happen with them they agreed to look at it to try to figure out what could be wrong with it. Upon getting home I did a google search for 2011 Ford Escape jerking while stopping and accelerating and found a whole slew of complaints exactly like mine. The result was due to a transmission issue.

I called the dealer and told them my findings and upon taking the transmission apart they found metal shavings inside the transmission. Fortunately the work is all covered under the powertrain warranty. THE PROBLEM is that Ford Motors knows of this issue and has not done a recall to rectify this situation. There is definitely a safety issue and people could get killed as this "jerking" is happening at various speeds and on the open highway. Is it going to take someone getting killed before Ford final does something to fix the problem? Something needs to be done NOW, not when it's too late.

We have a 2010 Escape. About two years ago, the back lift door had rust on it. It was still under warranty, so we got that taken care of. A year ago, our back door and above our wheel well, the rust started coming. I took it to a body shop to see how much it would cost. They said they were surprised there wasn't a recall on those vehicles, because he has seen many Escapes with the same rust problem. He said he could take care of the rust, but he could almost guarantee that in a month or so the rust would be back. He said he could replace each panel for 1200.00. And that would take care of the rust. We don't have 2400.00 just sitting around. I do think ford should stand behind the rust and pay for it to get fixed.

It seems as if the fire has yet to be extinguished in Detroit. While driving home one evening in January of 2015, my 02 Escape went into what I later learned is known as the "limp mode," 20 mphs and 900 rpms. I pulled off the road to allow traffic to pass and to call home to let my wife know of my trouble. As I stood outside the driver's door, I noticed fireballs dropping onto the ground behind the front wheel. When I opened the hood, the fire blew up. The master cylinder was dripping fire onto every thing below it, and it was all blazing upward. I tried to save my truck and my investment by smothering the fire with my shirt, but I lost it all including my shirt. The fire grew far too rapidly to be snuffed out. I called the fire department and watched it burn.

A few months later, I received in the mail a recall notice from Ford informing me that my truck was part of a recall necessary to prevent the master cylinder from failing and causing a fire. Yes, I did buy my truck second hand, so I had no idea that it was under recall, and yes, I think Ford probably notified me as a new owner in a timely manner. Initially, I thought certainly Ford would replace the truck and entered into negotiations with the Office of General Council with that end in mind. However, after conducting some quick research, I find that Ford often is unable to offer suitable compensation to owners who lose Fords to fire. My optimism has waned significantly. My claim is still open, and I still hope Ford will make good on it. I'll update my review when I hear from them again. In the meantime, if you have a Ford under recall, you should take it in for repair, or at least, update your insurance!

Heater core on my 2011 Escape failed at 42K miles, costing $1100 to repair (part cost $185). According to John **, auto writer for the Boston Globe "Heater cores can fail but it is very unusual at this age and mileage. Searching online doesn't reveal any trends and there are no technical service bulletins about this problem. I would certainly write and call Ford asking for some sort of adjustment to the bill." My dealer told me to contact Ford Customer Care which I did and was assigned a case number and referred back to my dealer. Dealer was totally non-responsive with calls and emails mostly ignored for several months.

I finally went back to Ford Customer Care where after further research indicated no recall or other issue with heater core so nothing they would do. I have owned Ford vehicles since early 60's but this Escape will be my last due to dealer incompetence and Ford's refusal to do anything about either the dealer or the faulty heater core.

My 2012 Ford Escape, with 39K, has developed bubbles on the wheel wells, rear quarter panels. I took it to a collision specialist who inspected the vehicle. He used a paint mil gauge to determine the thickness of the paint, starting from the front of the vehicle and working to the rear, the site of the bubbles. He stated that the paint was within factory specifications and therefore appeared to be factory paint. Upon further inspection he found reason for concern that the rust was eating through as the lip was separating and "pulling away". If you look up under even the untrained eye can see the rust. This absolutely should not happen to a car of its age and furthermore one that is garaged. This is my first step but I agree with others who say that we need to pass this on to everyone we know so that Ford will be held accountable. They should not be allowed to wash their hands of using poser quality materials.

I looked in rear view mirror and smoke was bellowing out and coming from front hood. I pulled to the shoulder and jumped out thinking it was on fire. The engine dead as I left the roadway. Still smoking I raised the hood. Smoke bellowed out as if to ignite a blaze. It did not and the smoke was decreasing as I stood there. I tried to restart but nothing. Gauges moved but no response from starter. The tow driver said smells like gas/fuel leak and was wet like - maybe fuel spill. Anyway it was towed to dealer.

It had just been serviced 10,000 mi at 11200. Service guy looked under the carriage and commented that maybe his mechanic had not tightened the oil filter. He said he'd call me Monday - Tuesday. It's Sunday so I should get a call tomorrow. It has been having gas mileage problems swinging from 13-19-20 mpg. I did notice a low rattle noise at idle that morning and at coasting to a stop and accelerating again. So anyway I await the verdict.

We waited for 2 1/2 hours for a tow truck to come. I had it towed to a Ford dealer where I thought Ford would take care of everything. I was told that I had to wait 15 business days for Ford to investigate before my insurance could do anything or the dealer where I leased my vehicle or Ford customer service or the dealer where I had my vehicle towed could do anything. The service manager said the fire was due to a recalled part and that the vehicle should have never been leased to me because it already had the recall on the vehicle. NOT a "good will" gesture by Ford but a self-serving one. A great SUV minus the SYNC navigation system that Ford seems to have little interest in correcting.

I am shocked at how many people have experienced the same issue that I am having with my Escape in regards to the right rear wheel well rusting out around the shock mount. I initially noticed the issue when I heard a loud clunking noise in the right rear of the car. I thought there was something wrong with the rear shocks so I took it to a neighborhood mechanic. The mechanic told me that it was a frame issue and I needed to take it to a body shop. He also stated that it would probably cost hundreds of dollars to fix and some body shops would not be willing to fix it. At this point, I am furious!

I went to a body shop today on my lunch break and they told me it would cost upwards of $2,000 to repair. The guy at the body shop also told me that he has seen this issue on several 2004-2006 Ford Escapes and was well aware that this is an ongoing problem. I am so frustrated and agitated because I have taken very good care of this car, regular maintenance, and I have already spent $2k in the last year on it including 4 new tires. By the way, Discount Tire failed to mention this problem to me when they installed the tires less than 2 months ago. Thanks a lot! I am so fed up with how irresponsible these huge million/billion dollar companies are.

From what I have seen just in my little research that I have done today, Ford is aware of the problem, yet they refuse to establish a recall. I called the Customer Care line at Ford and the representative that I spoke with told me very politely that there is nothing that they are willing to do about this issue and if I do get it repaired that I should be sure to keep the receipts just IN case they ever decide to do a recall so that I can be reimbursed!!! I think that's bull and as long as they are not forced to acknowledge the issue and admit that they are at fault, they are not going to. So hardworking tax paying people like me just have to bend over and pay thousands of dollars to repair an issue that the car shouldn't even have in the first place, or jump up and shell out thousands of dollars on a new car.

Ford doesn't give a crap and they will go on to continue make lousy cars and cheat hardworking Americans out of their hard earned money. I will never and I repeat NEVER purchase a Ford again!!! My 2012 AC stopped working at 60,000 miles. Ford's original TSB stated the accumulator bag inside could burst and contaminate the AC system and would require about everything replaced. Reviewing this issue I found customers were paying from $2,300 to $3,500 at the dealership. In August 2014 Ford revised the TSB by stating the cowl could leak water and cause the blower switch to malfunction and to replace the accumulator. Doing my research I found if your manual 4 speed blower does not work at all speeds then by all means replace the blower resistor as this means moisture is leaking past the cowl.

The blower resistor is about $25 and is located behind the glove box. I bought an accumulator for $60 and replaced it myself. It cost me another $90 to have the freon removed and then added once I replaced the part. Ford wanted $700 to repair and I spent less than $175. This accumulator problem is well known. This is a design issue and there is no question about that. Ford simply decided the old Escape design was not going to get any improvement money.

I bought a 2009 Ford Escape Limited in 2014. While the car was used, it only had 35,000 miles on it, had all of the features that are coming standard on vehicles now, and I liked the box body style better than the new one. I wish I had kept looking. The day after I bought it, the engine light came on. The dealership ended up replacing something in the engine. I also started to notice that it was nearly impossible to get the key in the ignition; sometimes it would take nearly 5 minutes just to get the key in.

Took it to the dealership, they put some lube in it, but the problem kept getting worse. They ended up replacing a cylinder in the ignition. They warned me about having a full key ring, so for the last year (since having it replaced), I have 2 key sets. One only contains my car and house key, the other had everything else. Well, now the problem is happening again. A mechanic told me it's really unheard of to have to replace the cylinder twice, let alone a year later.

I feel like something electrical is also going on. Last month I had my inspection and needed a brake light replaced. A week later, EVERY LIGHT IN THE BACK WENT OUT, including the brand new one. I got them all replaced, and while they worked, my car started getting stuck in park. I'd have to turn it off and then turn it back on. I'm not having the same problem with the AC.

The car only has 55,000 miles on it. I'll get in and realize that nothing is blowing, NOTHING. So then I turn the car off and restart it and the AC will kick in. I'm not sure why that happens and can't seem to find any answers online. It's starting to get really jerky on the interstate, almost like you're driving a manual. Also, when I'm driving slow and turning, there's this loud looping bang noise. I don't know what it is and it's hard to explain. The biggest problem is all of these things happen randomly (multiple times a week though) and I don't know if they'll be able to redo it in the shop.

Money is kind of tight, so I'd hate to just send it in for them to say it didn't happen for them - but if its a small fix, I don't want to sit on it and have it possibly snowball into something larger. I've maintained the car perfectly, had the oil changed on time, and had all recalls performed as I can't afford not to and my dad warned me about buying a Ford - I should have listened.

Anyway, this will definitely be my last Ford. I was so excited when I got it, I really wanted an affordable small SUV that wasn't terrible on gas and I was happy to find an 09 Limited because I wanted all of the features, but don't like the body shape of the new Escape (and most other small SUVs). I wanted the boxier look. I've always gotten Toyota's and Hyundai's until now and I can't explain the difference other than to say they were well oiled machines. They didn't have the million small issues that the Ford has had. Even though it's a bit older, again, I got it when it only have 35,000 miles. I've seen 2 year old cars with that many miles.

I hate having all of the small issues because I'm constantly wondering if they're all connected to a larger issue - and I'm going to be left with a $10,000 loan and no vehicle. As my loan gets under the KBB, I'm considering trading it in. I know I can't afford any major repairs and I feel like by the time I pay it off, there will be nothing left as far as value. However, I doubt I'd make it that far. When I leave work today, it will probably take me 5 minutes just to get my key in the ignition, and I have a feeling that one day, 5 minutes will turn into a tow truck.

Now they have the vehicle all day Thursday and Friday and it won't be ready until Monday as it needs a new temperature sensor.

Now on top of the 521.00 they want another 900.00. I told them they misdiagnosed it in the first place. They settle for 700.00, which still seems like a rip off.... I get the vehicle back and sure enough, first hot day, no ac. So it is now going back for its third trip. I yelled at the manager telling him this is a known issue to do some research and that I was not paying for anymore repairs as it was obvious the first two repairs were just guess work and not actual diagnostics. They estimated to fix at $5,500. They submitted a claim to Ford. Ford is refusing to help. What can be done?

Like others have reported this has also happened to me. The first time I was backing into a parking spot and it just shut off. I thought maybe I had done something wrong or hit the gearshift or something... It was a complete surprise since I've had the car 2 years, faithfully kept up on all of the maintenance and never had any problems but the leaky back window. Then yesterday I was on an extremely busy street making a u-turn and it shut off right in the middle of the turn where cars where coming toward me. I was scared to death! The only option is to put it back into park to start it. REALLY?

WE have a 2006 Ford Escape that has been recalled. It has already been inspected last year by a dealer in California. However we received a notice that Ford now has our parts and is ready to service the Recall.. When we reached out to our Local Dealer in Coos Bay Oregon they told us to drive 2 hours to them so they can make sure it really needs the part.. and then they will order it and I can come back later for service. (So a Four Hour Drive two times for a 30 min service job).

However we have already had the inspection and they Ford have already stated that the parts are now available.. This Dealer is trying to Avoid the Recall service because we did not purchase the car from them.. It is simply ridiculous that you would ask customer to travel 2 hours one way to get to the dealer only so the they can verify you need the part again.. Ford and the Dealership need to be investigated because defective ford water pump will leave me stranded along the Road and this Dealership in Coos Bay Oregon Tower Motor Company is not willing to provide the service in a timely manner that is convenient for me the customer.. Avoid this Dealership at all cost.

Bought my 2012 Ford Escape brand new. Transmission started slipping after only a few thousand miles. Dealer denied it was happening. Said there's still time on the warranty, don't worry about it. Transmission kept getting worse. When it's cold I can't even accelerate quickly when entering the freeway without it jerking significantly. Dealer still denies it's happening. Worse experience I have ever had with a new car. I have always bought Ford's. Not again.

I bought my 2007 new. It has been housed and washed inside and out every week including the winter months. At 40000 miles the wheel wells and frame started to rust. I had wells fixed and it came back. In 2014 I had trouble with the sway bar rusting and bolts rusting and falling off of exhaust. I have contacted consumer affairs and Ford about all the rust problems and the under carriage frame rust and no one has contacted me back. I am looking for a recall on this issue for I think it is unsafe to drive. The vehicle is only 8 yrs old and the frame is totally rusted out. I will never buy another Ford.

2005 FORD ESCAPE XLT. I have the same problem as everyone else...excessive rust in the passenger rear wheel well. I've contacted several repair & body shops and most don't even bother dealing with rust issues anymore here in Toronto. So the best I've been able to do so far is have a few people tell me over the phone that it's not worth even looking at it and I should just scrap it.

It all started with a tiny rattle in the rear passenger well and escalated to a full blown thud within 4-5 days. The strut/shock is left exposed and the rust has eaten up almost the entire well now. The pictures I've posted are from nearly a month and a half ago. With the blue/black book value being what it is it won't be worth repairing the vehicle. I'm now looking at either donating or scrapping it as those appear to be my only feasible options.

It was a very dangerous situation, how am I to trust this car again. Side note...... My mother was ran over and killed by her 1996 Ford Windstar Van in 2010. I found out later the parking pawl was a recall that was replaced by the same defective part. Will I be next FORD!!!! FIX YOUR CARS.

I bought my 2013 Ford Escape in February of 2013. Within a few months the car shut off while driving and a message on the dash board stated "Engine Fault Service Now." It began to stutter and powered down. Brought it to the dealer and they had it for 3 weeks. They gave it back to me and told me they fixed the issue. I drove home, parked in my driveway, picked up my kids and as I drove off the light came on and it shut off again. The dealer had it for another week and they gave me it back saying it was fixed.

Couple of months later same thing. This time on a busy highway with my 3 kids in the car. I dodged traffic and pulled to the side luckily. One week at the shop later "It's fixed again." After the third time again with the kids in the car I started a lemon law lawsuit. Somehow I lost. Add one more time to the list and a "High engine temperature stop safely" warning light. How can I stop safely if the car is shutting off on me. Mind you it was 20 degrees out. I also am averaging 12.9 to 13.5 miles per gallon. I have the 1.6 liter turbo engine. When I complained and brought it to the dealer they told me they connected it to a computer and they got 26 MPG. I have never ever ever gotten that mileage from this crappy nightmare of a car.

I now have a complaint in with Ford's complaint bureau as well as my dealer who has been nothing short of awesome as I vent my frustration on their people every time. I have been a loyal Ford owner for at least 30 years having owned 4 Mustangs, 3 Expeditions, 2 Explorers with no issues ever on any one of them. This Escape has soured me on Ford. Sorry I forgot to mention that the MY SYNC system works when it wants to and the rear hatch does the same.

I have a 2013 Ford escape. I have brought it to the dealer plenty of times here Miami Florida. For the same problem the transmission. For the jerking, for the shaking, for the stalling. Obviously I feel unsafe driving the vehicle. Well here I am again at the dealer waiting for a month and a half to get an appointment and these cars are rolling in like candy. Offer the same issues customer service and his dealer is not good at all. I don't have the answers to fix my vehicle. They tweak it, they turn things, they change stuff and is still the same thing. One guy told me "the best thing you can do is get a new car." Yeah that was easy to do. Here I go again. Fourth time here. Midway Ford.

I have a 2008 Ford Escape. I took it in about 2 weeks ago and was told that I have lost 2nd and 4th gear. When I took the SUV in, I wasn't at 90,000 km yet. I did buy extended warranty which was good for 90,000 km. They said I had to wait. I am now over my 90,000 and the warranty won't cover it and they say I'm looking at $4,000 to repair. I have done research and noticed that this seems to be a problem with quite a few 2008 Ford Escapes. Wondering why there has not been a recall.
