This is my third Ram. My first was 96 1500 v6 magnum. My second was 04 Ram 1500 2wd5.7 hemi. Never had any major problems. Now I own a 2014 Ram 2500 4x4 and love it. Great tough trucks. Like any vehicle always keep up with the maintenance.

Bad service until I reported them to BBB and Chrysler Service - they finally asked me to drop my truck for an inspection on my driveshaft. I bought a pick up truck on Nov 1st, 2014 and two weeks later I found out that I have engine light on, extremely Rusty powertrain driveshaft and front bumper came off by itself. Regarding my front bumper, one of the service guy who always sitting on the front to greet customers and taking their information, attempted to claim that I ran into something. I asked him to take a look himself. Obviously he couldn't find anything such as dent or scratches because like I told him, the bumper just came off by itself. One of the bumper, whatever you called that, the thing that hold the nuts ripped off and I don't even know how it happened. Bad manufacturing process I believe. He called the service manager who take a look himself for 10 secs and asked somebody to drive to the back to get it fix, no question being asked at all. That was alright with me including the engine light which was updated. The driveshaft is the whole new level.
I found out later a lot of people from Fort Benning having problems with them, and have bigger mechanical problems (as in vehicle are not operational or having safety hazards). The rusty driveshaft was partially my fault, because I should have check the bottom part of the truck before I purchased it. However, right now they still don't want to resolve my driveshaft issue since Chrysler wouldn't do it either and my case file was closed. I was told that I have to pay on my own to get it cleaned out or doing whatever service I have to on my driveshaft. It cost me $60,000~ to buy this, and this is not ethical at all for their service. I am not going to talk about other features that the salesman promised me on the truck because I know most of them are just lies since I corrected the salesman for several times regarding the features of the trucks. However, certain things I was not sure so I bought into it at that time. Payload is only 1800~ lbs but I was told I have 3000~ lbs. Towing is only 17,000~ lbs but I was told 22,000~ lbs. I don't care much about the towing since if I do buy a trailer or 5th wheel, it wouldn't go beyond that towing capacity.
However, the payload is what I need the most right now and this Laramie truck is not able to carry any truck camper for all seasons. 1800~ lbs is horrible for modern pick up truck. I am getting an attorney to fix my driveshaft and that is something I can do. I have to wait until around 2016 to get another new truck and this time I am not sure I will get Chrysler brand anymore. I will definitely lost around $10,000 to $15000 or more. That doesn't include $5000 extra cost on my truck compare to other dealer at that time and a special rebate of $500 that the dealer didn't give me (military rebate and additional $500 rebate to my referral). I will find a way to contact somebody in JAG or whoever to raise hell so that this dealer will be blacklisted from Fort Benning personnel. I should have rate the salesman bad rating on the survey. He (Paul) asked me to put all good rating on him.
I attempted to resolve the problem with the dealer where I bought the truck from and Chrysler Service but nothing was resolved regarding my rusty driveshaft. I was told that I have to pay money to get it cleaned up. I bought it on Nov 1st, 2014 and two weeks later I just found out that the driveshaft is extremely rusty. However, nobody wants to take any responsibility. Do you really think most buyer would want to buy a rusty driveshaft if they found it on the spot? I will find an attorney after this Christmas holiday (or later on today, Dec 26th, 2014). This is simply not ethical. First thing I will do is, I will find several buyers from my unit in Fort Benning to make complaints to our JAG so that the dealer, Carl Gregory Dodge, RAM, Jeep from Victory Drive, Columbus, GA to be blacklisted so nobody from Fort Benning, GA will ever set foot on their store.
Next, I will have to deal how to get my own truck fixed. Other buyers, I have gathered have other bigger mechanical issues with this dealer. Since, we couldn't resolve this in a proper honest business relationship this is the only solution to fix the whole fiasco. I asked for paperworks regarding my last service with your company and Lawrence told me it was your company policy that the case files are not allowed to be release. They are considered legal documents but your company couldn't even released it.
As of Jan 10, 2015, My Bumper is falling off again and I can see the gap is getting bigger but not as bad like last time. Also, Chrysler, nor the dealership considering replacing my rusty driveshaft. I am sick of hearing from the fanboys talking about nothing wrong with it. Really? You seriously would walk into a shop to buy anything that is rusty just because you are the loyal brand follower? My payload is still horrible and I couldn't buy the truck camper like I originally plan. This truck is not built to carry any heavy payload for the equivalent class 3/4 tons. 1st time buyer of RAM truck.

I am very meticulous with cleaning my truck (2009 Dodge Ram Diesel) because I like it, spent a lot of money on it, and want it to last. Every time I wash it, which is usually once a week, I thoroughly sponge wash the interior of all wheel wells. Now I started noticing bubbles in the paint over the rear wheel wells. While at the dealership for a tie rod recall I had the service manager at Hoffman Chrysler/Dodge, Hagerstown, MD looked at the rust development. He agreed that as clean as the truck is kept that it should not be rusting. He gave me an (800) number for Chrysler and said I could even offer his name for verification.
I called and they made me feel foolish for even calling. Actually told me he shouldn't have given me the number and that it wasn't something they were responsible for. In my opinion Chrysler knows they have a manufacturing problem for 1000's of their trucks to be rusting out in the same areas in such a short time. I love the truck but could never purchase another Dodge. None of my Fords or Chevy's ever rusted out in 5 years. By the way, I was notified of the tie rod recall and it took 10 months for Chrysler to get the parts to the dealership for replacement. They were sending them one at a time and there were lots of owners on the list for the recall just at my dealer alone. You pay a lot of money for these Diesel trucks and once you drive away they act like it's not a problem for them to rust away in 5 years. :-(

This is my second Ram and it will be the last. I needed a good reliable truck since I travel for a living in it. So I purchased a brand 2014 Ram 1500 crew cab in June 2014. I have put 15k mile on it and love the room and performance of my truck. However, the 8 speed transmission has issues and was in shop for a day. Note: It took 3 weeks for the dealer to get the parts. I'm not sure if it’s been fixed since I only got to drive it for about 3 weeks and then it had a major oil leak. I took it to my dealer on Dec. 19th and today is Jan. 3rd and I still do not have my truck. The dealership told me it would be 3 weeks, which is stupid! So, I contacted Dodge and they cannot give me a reason other than they are trying to locate a part.
I was referred to a case manager whom hasn't returned any of my 4 calls. Also, I was given the part mgr. number at corp. office. Once again, No return phone calls. I like my truck but, I will not deal with this lack of service from Dodge Ram Trucks. My dealer has been great to deal with but this new V-6 has issue with the oil filter housing and the 8 speed transmission does too. I thought I was buying the truck of the year. But I made a big mistake. "Buyer Beware". I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase this truck unless you are looking for trouble.

New 2014 Ram 3500 gas engine. Owned it 1 week and this problem started. Engine will turn but won't start. Looked it up on Google and seen many of these problems. Get this, the dealership salesman and service department said they never heard of this problem and sent them one of the youtube videos with the same problem. It happened 7 times now and am very pissed about spending $35k and getting shoved to the side. The dealership is Waxahachie Dodge in Waxahachie, Texas.

I purchased a brand new 1500 quad cab with 3 miles on it. Now the truck has 329 miles and the radio has stopped working. I either get a blue screen, black screen, no backup camera, etc. I take it to the dealer and am immediately told they can't have anyone look at it because they are too busy. I refuse to accept that answer and seek out a manager. The manager, not happy I have disturbed his coffee break, comes out and confirms my problem. Then says "come back and we will take care of it on your next oil change." What? You want me to wait several thousand miles, I don't think so. I have now escalated this to the owner and am awaiting a response. I will follow up.

Took my 2013 Ram 2500 Cummins to the shop with an EGR system leaking carbon monoxide into the cab giving me a headache plus it was making a knocking noise in the engine compartment and the A/C making a knocking noise. Anyways took it to the dealership to fix the issues and only one thing gets fixed out of 3 times. I've taken it to the shop. They fixed the EGR and said they didn't know what the knocking in the engine was... But it was noted in the system well about a week later the batteries won't hold a charge and I have to jump it off if I want to drive it. All in all I'm pissed the ** in Tyler hasn't helped me with anything. I'm angry and want a lawyer who can get my hard earned money back!!

Took my 2012 ram 3500 Dually in for service.. Repair front hubs, bearings, front steering stabilizer, and 4-wheel drive transfer case, alignment... Also to fix the warning lights that keep coming on (Service 4-wheel drive, ABS light and brake light).. Ok so got all this done at Arrigo Dodge in West Palm Beach.. They had the truck for 12 days... Got it back and transfer case making a binding noise, lights are still on, and front end now pulls to the right... Take it back to them and they have it another week.. Pick it up and the lights come on again.. Ok so now I tell the service guy "I need to drive to Colorado 1800 miles. Is the truck safe?" He said "Yes don't worry about the warning lights. Just have it looked at when you get there. If they stay on..."
Well I'm not a mechanic so I drive it there not realizing that the ABS brakes don't work when those lights are on.. And I'm pulling a 24-ft trailer... So I get to Florida take it to the Dodge dealer to get it checked out. The dealer checked out the truck... Come to find out the alignment was done wrong which wore the 2 front tires to the core and they put the wrong chain in the transfer case and used the wrong sealant in the transfer case.. The Dodge dealer in FL was contacted by the Dodge dealer in Colorado and this was brought to their attention. And the spec sheets and repair diagnostic was given to the dealer who incorrectly did the work the first time (Arrigo Dodge WPB).
The Colorado Dodge dealer said that the dealer who fixed the truck originally should pay for the repairs.. I contacted them several times even speaking to the owner of the Dodge dealer, getting nowhere.. Now I'm out 1500 dollars and that is not right.. Let alone I put my family in danger since the Colorado Dodge dealer said there could have been a bad accident due to the repairs.. I think that the original dealer should be liable for the repair's cost... That's why we take our truck to the dealership to get worked on by certified mechanic.. To be safe and right... Again I'm not a mechanic... Thank God nobody got serious hurt on the road... That would be a law suit waiting to happen...

2012 dodge Ram 3500 - I had problems with the rear end at 66,000 miles. Took to my dealer. They refused warranty due to water damage in the rear end. The truck was only about 9 months old (yes, I drive a lot). They wanted $5,500. I did it for $2,800. One month later, I checked the fluid. It had water in it again. I added 1 foot of hose to the axle vent and ran it over the frame and pointed it at the ground. No more problems the way Dodge had it, any water ran into the axle. BAD DESIGN.

We bought this truck with 4000 miles on it. A demo wrecker. Big, strong, able to handle what we could throw at it. Unfortunately, have had nothing but an issue out of the def system. Hard to keep a wrecker on the road when it keeps flashing the shut down and will not restart in 200 miles message. Finally my husband found the problem. Def fluid crystallizes when air hits it, and each time you add def fluid a small amt of air hits the fluid, so guess what happens. Right. Some of those crystals get in the system, stop up the injector. If you don't believe, check the funnel you use to add def fluid. Crystals you will find. Still has SES light for the system, but at least it's not shutting down now. Just a bit disappointed in the product dodge advertised as the truck built especially for the wrecker industry. Wake up Dodge. Where's your pride in your products? The amt I gave for this truck should make it trouble free for a long, long time.

I recently purchased a new 4x4 Ram pickup (2 months 11,000 miles). This is my 12th 4x4 and while a "Ford man - (8)" I have had a Toyota, Nissan, and 2 GMC. I am often off road hunting and fishing and "getting" where I am going. I am 45 and do not recreationally "hot dog" in the mud, but I typically drive them until they are DONE (this is my 4th new) the rest have been purchased with 100,000 - 150,000 miles and driven well into the 200's. Don't get me wrong, I am rough on them.
My new Dodge lost transmission fluid. After pouring through the manual and under the hood, I found no dipstick to check the fluid nor any place to put it (5 miles from the nearest paved road). Called my dealer, and he said not to worry, call Roadside - everything is under warranty. $189 later it was towed to the dealer only to find a pinhole crack in an exposed PLASTIC transmission oil pan. Plastic? Exposed? On the underbelly of a 4x4? Really. To not just bash, I must say the customer service and "Buying Experience" at JT's Dodgeland of Columbia was exceptional and being my first Dodge, I love it - but exposed plastic underneath a 4x4 is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. I have taken trucks where they should never go, run over trees, been yanked off of stumps, and so on. This Dodge had obviously had a stick of some sort kick up and hit the oil pan, which being PLASTIC allowed a hole to be punctured. It has yet to see any REAL tight spots.
So I have paid 189 not covered and the bill to replace the plastic little pan and recalibrate the computer is $960. Had I poked a hole in something metal, I would chalk it up to cost of doing business. If Dodge wants to compete in the market for folks that really need 4x4, then get rid of, or use a skid plate to protect these fragile parts. We don't get much snow in SC, but we got plenty of mud, sticks, stumps, etc... After looking, a rock off the Interstate at 70mph could puncture (the 5.7 Hemi 8 speed is by far the smoothest, most fuel efficient truck I have ever had and is an absolute rocket) - the tiptronic (sp) transmission is BAD as well.

The Dodge brake controller, when not working, does not indicated that it is not working. Hence one is left without brakes when pulling a trailer. This is a serious failure. When the Dodge dealer is asked to remove the integrated brake controller from the vehicle computer system all you get is can't. This of course is BS and is clearly stated on all the Dodge forums as being possible. So why should it be impossible to get a dealer to fix your truck?? Lack of caring is how I put it and hence why Dodge gets the lowest ratings.

Asked about it and I was told normal wear. I don't understand how this is normal and it should be replaced through warranty, hope they all aren't holding moisture. I was thinking of trading next year for another new ram but with the concern of the service I received no way will I ever buy another one. Just wondering if this is a problem with all the rams.

In May my engine light came on. Now in November after 12k miles and 25 actual documented trips to service we still have same issue with Def system problems. Dealership, dodge and Cummings are all involved. It's going in again next week to install a device to monitor the truck from another location as well as a new pump and another sensor that has been replace multiple time. This is my everyday driver and being without a truck like this is not useful. In the 25 times I have been given a car once (had to be jumped 1/2 mile away to get back home) and a 1/2 ton old Chevy truck 3 times. Chrysler has given me a case manager and somehow my case was closed last week, I call inquiring why and they couldn't tell me but started a new one. Anyone else suspicious? 5 times so far the computer has threatened to shut down in 200 miles and instructs getting to dealership. So next week is 26 times in the shop since May with my everyday 5500 work truck with a dump landscape box, tool boxes, snow plow and computer stand installed in truck. I wish I could take away everyone else's computer until this truck is fixed.

So I buy my truck in April 2013, Dodge Hemi 5.7L Bighorn. Before I bought this truck I was told it was an amazing truck and the best riding truck out of all the Hemi class trucks. So the day comes to pick it up. I take my truck home and while driving it around no longer than 30 mins the engine light comes on. So my first time experience was destroyed. I took it to the dealership in Strathroy Ontario where I purchased it. They told me it was the gas cap fault. I said “How can it be that? I didn't fill it up, you guys did.” So they cleared the fault and on I went. This fault went on for 2 months before finally they figured it out and replaced the duel cats that were faulty.
So for the first two months living at the dealership. Getting rented vehicles etc., etc. I hated this truck period! You buy a 50000 dollar truck and it's crap from the get go! What a crappy feeling. Not to mention I called Dodge and talked to the dealership 3 days after I bought it and wanted a different truck! Dodge told me I cannot back out of my loan. They told me I could not get another truck and if I even could that would be the dealerships decision. I thought in Ontario you can back out of a contract within 15 days of signing it? Guess I was wrong. So I talked to the dealership, my salesman and the garage. They just really shrugged me off saying “We will see what we can do for you” and never got back to me and really did nothing.
I was told they were going to talk to the owner and try to help me out cause of what I was going through, nothing ever happen. Not even a sorry! I was told they would give me a free 50 inch tv for everything I went through and cause I was so nice and understanding with them. Nothing ever happen. Now not even 10 days after I bought the truck I took it in and took the salesman out for a ride in my truck telling him my truck is the worst ride in a vehicle I've ever had. Feeling every bump after bump and when you go over bumps or raises like going over bridges; it grabs the truck and shoots it sideways. My wife refuses to drive my 50,000 dollar truck. It makes her sick from all the bumps and horrible ride. This truck twice now has almost carried my wife and kids off the road resulting in an accident. Even myself, I drove over a common bridge in our area on Pike Side Rd outside Strathroy doing 90 kms and it shot me 2 feet sideways resulting in missing the bridge wall by a foot. I have never been more scared in my life driving a vehicle.
I also took my vehicle in at the same time complaining about the tires. I'm buying a 50000 dollar truck and they put on the cheapest tires. I have 40000 kms on my truck now and they are done already. They have been done at 20000 kms ago! I took it in on my first and second service asking if they were Ok and they said yes, nothing wrong with them. They are at the wear bars pretty much. Thx for being honest Dodge. When I bought the truck the sales guy told me to go to another tire place to trade them in and get a discount on better tires. This is the sales guy for Dodge telling me the tires are crap after I realize it days after I buy it.
So I called the tire place. They turn me down cause they have 80 tires sitting in the back that they can't move cause of doing these deals for Dodge. So out of luck. Thx Dodge for selling me a 50000 dollar truck and sending me straight to the tire place for four new tires 30000 kms later for 1500 dollars in good tires cause you rip your customers off informing us you're selling us a 5 star rating road worthy truck; wouldn't that include the tires? Hogwash...
So here I am less than a year and a half later paying for a truck owing 70000 dollars and I have a truck that was a piece of crap from the first day, having cat issues, balled tires in 30000 kms, a truck that rides like a Russian tank - well sorry Russia your tanks ride better! Hanging radio issues, suspension issues etc., etc. My wife won't ride in it cause it makes her sick. And while I look back supporting Dodge 3 times buying a Neon RT in 2002, a Dodge 2010 Caravan, and now a 2013 Dodge Hemi, I am honestly thinking of taking my services to another company.
We own a dairy farm and have supported Dodge for years. I think we are going to buy elsewhere from now on. Now I'm not saying all this just because I had just one bad go. I'm so upset because after all of this not once did I get an apology, not once did they offer me anything out of compassion for what I've gone through, not once did the owner or Dodge or anybody call me or anything! I will continue to hate this truck every day and not once has anyone given a crap at all!
I'm so upset you would think they would have given me free oil changes or God something to show support or compassion. Nope all the promises; hot air from what I call it, all the grief I went through and the shop employees know what I went through - they saw it. I didn't even get a sorry from the owner of Dodge! So my best friend buys the same truck but a Sport 2014 - same tires, suspension blah, blah, blah. You take my buddy out for a ride same road in his truck then mine! I'm so upset, so upset his truck rides like a gem like what mine should ride like. I'm so upset. I took him in mine and he was pissed. He now sees the difference and how horrible mine is. And when we went out we almost got into an accident cause when passing a car we hit a bump and it threw us into the side of road, the gravel part and we almost wiped out at 90 kms an hour.
It's nice to know I got ripped off and my buddy has the truck I always wanted. So we go to the dealership, my friend confirming the difference, etc., etc. from my truck to his and I have an appointment Friday to look at suspension. "Guaranteed Mr. **, everything looks Ok. If you continue to have these issues, just let us know and we will tell you the same thing over and over again and do nothing.” I'm so upset. I'll never buy another Dodge ever again and if I can stop one person from doing the same, I'll be happy. It kills me to feel this way cause I loved Dodge for years. All I got to say, if something ever happens to my family be flying off the road, they better hope I die in the process! It sucks to want to be so happy, but all you get is 7 years of grief! Why doesn't anyone care anymore? What have people and companies come to these days? It's so sad.

The night we purchase it 12 miles from the dealership, the loose gas cap light comes on then the 'check engine' light. I continue on home because we weren't done till 10 pm dealership closed. The next morning I go back, take it to service, explain what happened and they apologize, agree to usher right in to be checked. Three hours later they come get me and tell the gas cap was loose, I didn't tighten it correctly. It and check engine code reset, all is good. BTW I did not fill it up the dealership did. Later that same day, have driven my truck 43 miles since purchase, the lights come on again. The next day I return to the dealership and explain my displeasure and disgust. They tell me they need the truck for 4-6 hours to smoke test emissions system for leak which now appeared with loose cap light but they can't provide loaner car which is part of Car-Doc warranty I got with the truck. I schedule appointment for following Wed at 8 am. I took the truck in and set for 3 hours while they test it.
The results are no leaks, has to be a loose gas cap, they flashed computer to clear codes, should all be good just be sure to tighten gas cap properly. This set me off, I have been driving for 25 years and surely have tightened a gas cap before as I explained to this young man. I proceeded to my salesman and asked for them to fill my truck up again, since most of my first tank of gas was used going back and forth to have light fixed. They did refill it. As I get on my street the light comes back on for the 4th time. I called back and told them I want it taken in and kept till fixed and I need a loaner for my business. I am told they don't have loaner trucks and I would have to wait on a list for a loaner car!!! I have owned several Dodges and used this dealer 3 times but I am thinking I am done with both. I am a dog trainer. I needed a good, dependable truck for my business. Lots of my friends have Dodge Rams (different versions) and one has over 400,000 miles on his Diesel. I pull horse trailers. I am on the road a lot and need good transport for dogs and me. So, after much research and recommendations of Dodge Ram, I decided to go that route. When I looked it up under consumer research articles, it was one of the highest recommended trucks on the road.
Just last week (October, 2014), my dealership sent me a letter wanting to "buy back" my truck for a good sum. Stated this was the most popular model and they were in "desperate" need of them and had a waiting list of people. At that time, I had only $2,000.00 before paying off my Dodge Ram. I opted not to sell my truck to the dealership and "trade up". I needed a vehicle that would last me at least 200,000 miles and keep me free of truck payments for at least 5 years. Then I would trade up, or not, depending on how well my truck was holding up. I have always done the proper maintenance on my truck when it was needed. Oil change, fluid changes and checks, tire rotations, new brakes, new tires and babied it, because hey, its a Dodge Ram and will last me at least 10 years or 200,000 miles.
Needless to say, that was not to be. On a trip home from Illinois, just across the Indiana line, my truck blew the engine. When the mechanics checked my truck and took the head off, it showed every bit of 100,000 miles. After much discussion and more research, I was told that this particular model, 2008 dodge Ram 1500 had aluminum in the valves and should have had steel. No wonder it fell apart at 6,000 miles out of warranty.
The story gets better. Because I lost compression in my truck, I lost almost all control of my brakes and steering. I was in Poseyville, Indiana at the time. It almost cost me a dog grooming parlor, but fortunately I was able to get the truck into the gravel parking lot and stopped. I have called around to see my options and presently I am at $5,000.00 to get a rebuilt engine and have it installed. My truck is at a friend's in another state and it cost me $350.00 to have it towed to their house. Towing it back to Kentucky was financially out of the question. My full coverage insurance refunded me $80.00 of this.
So, now I am out of a work vehicle and I have no vehicle to drive. That puts me in the position of making the rest of my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck payments (I owe a whomping $2000.00) and the cost of renting a car until I can save the money to have mine "fixed". At that point I will have to sell it or whatever. But I still have to pay my house payment, utilities, office rent space for my business, etc.
I am not whining, I am not feeling sorry for myself, so you haters and naysayers keep it to yourself. I am thoroughly pissed that I researched a truck, did my best to make the right choice for my business and now I am out a vehicle. Bottom line; This was not a used truck. It was a brand new, right off the show room floor vehicle, cared for and babied (yes, I can prove it... I have every oil change and filter, etc. ever put on it) because I tried to choose the right vehicle for me. It lasted less than 4 years, and has 106,000 miles on it... and I paid a very hefty price for this piece of junk that was touted as one of the best trucks on the market.
Kentucky’s useless Lemon Laws: The Kentucky Lemon Law applies when, during the first year or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first), following delivery of a new vehicle: The dealer has attempted to repair the same problem four (4) or more times, or the vehicle has been out of service for repair at the dealership for a cumulative total of 30 days or more. To qualify for the Lemon Law, the problem must substantially impair the use, value, or safety of the automobile. Vehicles leased after July 15, 1998 are also covered.
Kentucky Informal Dispute Resolution System or Arbitration: Kentucky requires manufacturers to provide new vehicle owners with a cost-free informal dispute resolution system. The decision is binding on the manufacturer but not the consumer. You qualify if the dispute happened in the first two (2) years or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first), and you are a Kentucky resident AND you purchased the vehicle in Kentucky.

Bought my Laramie in April 2014. Always was a Ford man - decided to try the Cummins. Bought brand new and wow this is the biggest letdown of my life. Since the second week of buying both front seats came apart at the fasteners and as of 8/21/14 I am waiting for the okay to replace them from Chrysler. The fourth week came around with a check engine light on so with broken seats that ripped my wife's dress I took it to the dealer. They said they can't figure out the code it produced so they just reset it. Two weeks later it was on again along with def service at dealer also tire pressure monitor system failed and the data radio has lost all presets and cuts in and out. Took to another dealer and they said they're ordering parts and the radio had a recall.
One month later came out from work to drive the two hour ride home from work - truck won't start, had to wait for tow truck. Now I am at a third dealership with my 68 thousand dollar truck chained down to a tow truck and I repeat the process of explaining the broken seats check engine light def service light tire monitoring needs service radio data system is still broke after the first recall etc. They call me a week later saying it is all fixed...I drove the two hours back making my wife miss work because they won't issue a truck to borrow while yours is getting fixed. Show up and nothing is fixed but they ordered all the parts. The truck starts though but still has broken seats def service by dealer tire pressure monitoring service are all still there. They ordered parts and will call. They told me it was a loose battery connection.
I laughed cause that was my first thought as I checked it being I am a local 12 heavy equipment mechanic for the last 18 years and had my service truck right there. They lie cause I was fed up and got the Chrysler resolution team involved, the day I was stranded two hours away from home not returning to my house until 2am 11 hours after my truck wouldn't start and my wife got off work and picked me up. I have owned the truck 7 months and have been to the dealer 7 times - nothing has been fixed, just ordered with no call backs.
After this month I'm giving it back to the bank and will have a repossession all because Chrysler fiat ram cares nothing about customer service or their disgusting product. To all my union brothers, don't buy a ram or dodge - it will be a disaster you won't ever recover from. Stick with the Rord super duty or Chevrolet, they won't leave you and yours helplessly stranded lost and confused in the dark.

I owned a 98 Dodge Ram right off the showroom floor and before I gave it to my son, it only had two major issues. One was a recall for towing package, they had to weld an extra piece of metal to the trailer hitch. The other issue was, I am assuming the same as most other people that owned that year with the Dashboards that fell apart.
I currently own a 2011 Cummins Turbo Diesel, that had the left tie rod recall, took the truck into my local dealership, oh and I bought from a privately owned dealership about 200 miles from where I live. The dealership I took it to for the recall didn't ask any questions or anything about doing the work. I bought this truck in July of this year and have already put over 5K miles on it and she's running like a dream.
In my opinion, if you bought your truck for something other than work, then you bought the wrong thing. These are work trucks, built to be USED!!!! If you bought it for the NAV or the Phone or fancy Radio, then maybe you should have looked into buying something else for that price, like a Benz, BMW, Audi or Volvo. Just my opinion. Oh the 98, when I gave it to my son 9 months ago, had over 120K miles on it. The Cummins I traded my Challenger for and only paid 23K for it. Just because these vehicles have all that fancy stuff on them doesn't make them not be a Truck!

There is also a recall on a front end part and we still have never been able to get in for the repair. There is now a recall on the recall. Please do not buy a Dodge truck of any kind. Especially, do not buy from Love Chrysler in Alice, Texas. They could never fix your truck but they could keep sure could find something wrong with it. We spent over $20,000 on repairs and finally just went and bought a new Ford Truck. We will never ever step inside a Dodge Chrysler Dealership again to buy a car or truck. The claim is that it has been fixed in the 2013 model but it has happened to my 2013 RAM 3500 three times. The truck has 13000 miles and is in perfect condition. I took it to the dealer and at first he claimed that he'd never heard of the "death wobble." I showed him dozens of internet articles, including references to many notices to the dealers about this problem. After that he admitted that he knew about it but said there was nothing he could do. Took them 2 visits to the shop to get the leak fixed - cruise to this day still won't work properly. Then it had trouble starting - took it in. Now they tell me it needs new fuel injectors. Took them 4 months to finally get them installed. Only because I called and called! Then my sat. radio stopped working and a few days later my radio just keeps turning on and off!! Also randomly my wipers stopped working. The paint is cracked on 2 spots - what's next? Serviced reg, kept in garage, never wrecked, NOT in a salt air environment and looks brand new on the inside. Noticed that the paint was coming off on the cab and is degenerating other places. Took it to a body shop to have a quote on painting. Come to find out, Dodge admitted that the paint on this year’s truck was defective & had no clear coat. Contacted Dodge through letters to corporate. There is nothing wrong with the truck except that Dodge's paint was defective. As was told to them - there is a very little trade in value due to the paint being defective.
Dodge also stated that the paint company has warranties that have nothing to do with Dodge so it would be my responsibility to correct their mistake. Their solution was to give me up to a 4% discount (off the sticker price) on a new truck or would work on a trade in which equals out to approximately $2,000 +/- either way. Dodge also stated that most people don't keep trucks that long. Wow, Dodge needs to spend the money to fix what they knew was wrong to begin with. Pictures are available!

I had a check engine light come on on a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 with 17,000 actual miles. Took it to our dodge dealer (Christopher's Dodge) and upon running the computer was told that there was probable a clogged exhaust line and/or valves not working. Upon taking the truck in a week later was informed by Christopher's Dodge that we had a completely plugged EGR Cooler and it would cost around $3200.00 to fix. This has been a problematic part with Chrysler and if replaced during the 5 year 100,000 miles warranty it would be paid for. Well since our vehicle falls out of the 5 year warranty period they would only reduce the cost of the labor. Even though the vehicle only has 17,000 miles and looks like it came off the showroom. We were informed we were not loyal customers since we had not done our oil changes there. So we ended up paying 2600.00 for the repair and in my opinion will never purchase another Chrysler product since they do not back their vehicles.

On December 31, 2012, I purchased a 2013 Dodge Dart at the Dodge Dealership in Marlow Heights, MD. Two months after having the vehicle, I began to have electrical problems where the left turn signal would not work. I took it to the dealership three times and they could not get it to work so I was offered to purchase a new Dodge Dart in May of 2013, and the Dodge dealership paid off the first vehicle. Well, it has been a little over a year and I have begun to have problems and I am afraid to even drive the vehicle now for safety reasons.
In June of 2014, my vehicle would not start. I had to get a jump and from that time, I needed a jump every time I started the vehicle. I took it to the dealership and they worked on the vehicle for about a week. In mid-July of 2014, I took my car on a road trip and while out of state, my car would not start again and this is after I was told I received a brand new battery. I was afraid that I would not make it home and had to get a jump from a stranger while out of town just to make it home. Now, every time I want to head out, I am afraid that my car will not start and I just don't feel safe. I can be out in the evening and not be able to make it home; I should not feel this way having a one-year old vehicle.
A few days later, the entire car reset on its own as well, all the radio stations that were pre-set were set back to factory as well as the clock; I am sure this is not normal. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they worked on it for four days and said they could not find anything wrong with my vehicle and sent me home with another problem: a damaged vehicle frame, bent rocker panel and the paint is now chipping. I have spoken with the customer service multiple times about many of these issues and I don't think they are listening.
I work full-time so I cannot drive back and forth to the dealership; I cannot afford to continue to take off or be tardy for work. Today, August 4, 2014, I took the vehicle into the service center at the dealership because I have the day off. They refused to work on my vehicle without charging me stating that I could have ran over a pot-hole, I explained there's no pot-hole that I know of that I could have run over that will cause the frame of my car to point outwards.
Overall, I am now stuck with a vehicle that I do not feel safe driving because I never know if it will start or when the next problem when arise and as a customer of Dodge, I do not feel respected as they damaged my vehicle and have not offered to even fix it even though they damaged it. I do not want another Dodge Dart as I feel unsafe and it should be re-called.

They explain that it can't be fixed because where the dealership is located at the speed limit is lower and by policy they can't exceed it. But to really feel the fault you need to go by the speed limit up the highway and they tell me to go to a dealership closer to that speed limit.
I will never go back to that dealership or service department. They state they will call and never do. While my truck was there if I didn't call to check on it they never would have told me nothing. They should not be in business.

He 2/15/2014, the car has been pretty good, however the air conditioner went out on it in May 2014. He had purchased every optional package of protection for this car that was available taking it from $24,855.00 to final cost of $30,424.38 not including the interest that will be paid by the time the loan is final and paid off. However after the kids fought with Dodge here in Kingman, AZ and got nowhere, I called Towbin Dodge and explained what was going with the car and that our local dealer doesn't want to mess with it, would rather just shovel crap at the kids. So they took the car and dropped it off at Towbin Dodge... Today Towbin called Shawn and advised that his car was going to cost $700.00 to fix the air conditioner.
They advised him the air condenser unit was bad, as well that it was due to a rock? I find this ridiculous, the condenser unit is located in a very well let's say hard to hit with a rock if you were aiming. The car was only 3 - 3 1/2 months old. If a rock really did fly up from underneath, find its way around the radiator through the spinning fan blades, back around the water pump and back upward flying into the condenser... I would have thought something else would have been damaged along the way.
Relative to this subject, if a rock from a road can so easily make its way past the lower protection plates, and above stated scenario wouldn't this be a problem for all Dodge Darts? I don't believe that this is this case. I believe the dealerships are not wanting to take care of this matter. They treat the kids just like kids and shoveled crap at them today. I was unable to attend due to work. I just don't buy it! Please help me or point me in a direction to get this taken care of without the flimsy reason that they gave and giving no other options but give us money. Optional Packages purchased with car: Oil Changes, Lifetime VSC, Polysteel, Red Alert, Ultimate. Thank you for your time, I sincerely hope you can head me in the right direction.

So I changed it. Another 3000 mile goes by and I got the same message again, but this time I called my local Dodge Ram dealer (Huntington Beach). They told me that the 7500 mile oil change interval is just an approximation. I also noticed that when I drained the oil (into a 5 gal bucket) I noticed the oil level was abt an inch and a half from the top. The dip stick is hard to see if the oil level is higher than it should be. So I took notice to that, so now after another 3000 miles I took an oil sample via Quinn Cat. and it came back with low oil viscosity with an 8.5% of fuel in the oil.
I've tried to get help via my local Dodge dealership and all I got was "No engine light, then we can't do anything." I don’t feel that any of what I've explained is normal. Is there anything you can do to help. Well I got my truck back from Dodge and they told me that 8.5% fuel dilution is? Normal? I can't believe that. They also said that they did a comprehensive injector test. The only thing that I saw in the paperwork that they gave me was that the tech pulled the valve cover and looked at the injectors and stated he didn't see any leaks. Also the tech smelled in the engine, and it didn't smell of fuel. That, is as far as I can see is their BIG test.
Anyway, my VIN is **. My oil change intervals are May 25, 2013, 18700 miles (That’s when I bought the truck), Aug 24, 2013, 22176 miles, Nov 17, 2013, 26659 miles (This is when I pulled over 4 1/2 gallons of oil/fuel mix out of the engine), Jan 21, 2014, 29732 miles (This is when I took the oil sample). Changed oil Mar 24, 2014, 32980 (Oil Sample 9% rule in oil), April 27, 2014 (Oil sample no results yet). Now, I'm not the smartest cookie on the planet, but if I get 8.5% & 9% of fuel in the oil at only 3073 mile between oil changes, something is wrong (In my Opinion). Thanks for your time. 2014 Ram 1500 4 x4 - Bought Ram new in March 2014. When it got 700 miles on it, it started smoking really bad on start up. It only does it about every two weeks. Been in shop at dealership 2 times - over a week each time. They have told Chrysler that it is steam, not smoke. I know the difference. Been going on over 3 months now and now in the last 250 miles the oil stick mark has dropped to the ADD mark. Still smokes when it wants to. Can I make them replace it with a new one?

Bought a Dodge Ram 1500 new on 3/3/2008. It came with lifetime power train warranty. Today, the truck's engine broke down and Chrysler is nullifying the warranty. Their reasoning is that there was an inspection due at the five-year point and it was not done. My problem is that the first time I heard of this "inspection" was today.

I have been a Mopar fan for a long time (that is all that I own). I needed new brakes on the front end of my 2007 Ram 1500, 4x4 four door pick-up ( the originals finally wore out). I usually do all of my own maintenance work on my vehicles, so I purchased new rotors, brake pads and small parts kit at my local parts supplier. Once I got into the job, I discovered that my new pads were much larger than the ones on my truck. Thinking that the counter man had made a mistake, I checked online to see what the correct part number was. The counter man had given me the correct part, apparently the factory had installed the brakes for a two door truck on my four door truck. These brake pads are significantly smaller than what should have been installed. I feel, that as a result, my safety has been compromised.
My truck is equipped with a hemi which has had several power adders installed, and I occasionally tow a trailer with it. With these smaller brakes, I no longer feel as safe as I did, I wonder how many times in the past my brakes were ready to fade, and I was unaware. I am just reporting this to alert other owners to be aware that they might have the same condition as me. I feel that Chrysler did me a disservice and showed a certain lack of regard for my safety, and the safety of those that I share the road with. I am now in the process of researching which parts are the correct parts for my truck so that I may replace them for my peace of mind. The truck is my baby, so I won't consider getting rid of it. I still like Mopar, and their styling, but I am extremely disappointed in them. As of this writing, there have been no consequences, but I will be changing My Front end parts till I can have the bigger safer brakes.

2012 Dodge Ram 1500 4 X 4 - I just have to blow off steam. My husband's truck engine froze while working. Had the truck brought into Ray Brandt Dealership where it was purchased new from. 1st off on an expensive truck it is hard for me to believe that there is "NO loaner" that could be offered while checking my husband's truck out. After 3 weeks of me calling every other day we find out it is not covered under the Drive train warranty!!! Really? Abdul stated that Chrysler denied the claim, said the maintenance invoices looked fake? OMG and a rod was broken inside which "suggests" it was starved for oil? SO now I have a truck payment and 2 bills (1 for a rental) and 2 for a new engine that would not be covered. Why do we keep receipts for maintenance? They don't accept them anyway. At 52k I was at the dealership asking for an alignment to be done. They told me an alignment wouldn't help because my steering box is wore out. Wanted me to pay them 2800 dollars to put in new steering box and update the linkage to the heavier duty components. I was told Chrysler knows about these problems but won't fix them. I purchased a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7 HEMI Quad Cab with 30,000 miles. It was a big purchase for me so I couldn't afford costly repairs. Well, I picked the wrong truck for that! Within the first year the truck spent a lot of time at a couple different dealers getting the dodge "kinks" out of it. A steering box, steering pump, 2 sets of ball joints, 2 sets of axle joints, front bearings, lower control arms, front cv drive shaft, 2 tie rod ends, clutch and flywheel, front Y pipe and sensors, wheel hub assemblies and other odds and ends. Now after so much work the steering is soo tight that every small move on the steering wheel the truck swerves in that direction and will not center itself.
To add icing on the cake, even though I took good care of the body and kept it washed and waxed constantly, the clear coat is peeling off of the roof and top of the doors and rust bubbles are showing up everywhere. I drove it daily for 2 years until I parked it because I can not afford to keep repairing it or keeping the 14mpg engine fueled up. I spent hours talking to warranty reps and Chrysler and I would have been better off talking to my dog. I am simply just waiting until it is paid down enough to part with it and never look back. 2 1/2 years of nightmares and family loaners. $30K truck and I don't even trust it to haul my family.

On 03-31-2014 I purchased a Chrysler Group- 2014 North American Map update for Uconnect 430N (RHB) for my 2012 Dodge Ram. When I received the DVD disk update I place the disk in the radio as instructed to do so by the instructions that came with the update DVD. According to the instructions there was to be a screen prompt that provided a Unit ID and a validation code. The next step was to access a computer and go to garmin.com/auto-update/maps/activate. However, I was never able obtain the two items(unit ID and validation code) because the DVD disk fail to provide these two items and went directly into downloading the new maps. When the disk went into downloading the new maps, it deleted the old maps. It takes about two hours to download the new maps with the vehicle running.
Since the DVD disk failed to prove the first two items (unit ID and Validation code) I was not able to access the unlock code in order to complete the download process. Now for the real problems; I am currently not able to use my GPS system in the truck, no map access. I called customer support at 1-800- 800-1020 who referred me to another custom service at 866-462-8837 to inquire about the problem with the DVD disk. The person I talked with did not have any knowledge about my GPS system in my vehicle. I must mention that the support center is a call center was not able to provide any remedy or suggestion concerning the DVD disk problem. All they recommended was to take it to a dealer. I took the vehicle to my dealer and they stated there was nothing wrong with the GPS system that it most likely a bad map update disk. So I called the support center (call center) back and advised them of what my dealer said (bad disk) and asked for disk replacement.
The service center stated that I would have to send the DVD disk back to the manufacture (HERE, LLC) before anything could be done about a new Disk. So made next step was to send back the Disk and Hoping for a new disk so I could get my GPS working before vacation time. I sent the disk back on 04-10-2014 by certified mail (cost $8.68). On 05-09-2014, almost a month later I received a phone call from the producer of the map update disk (HERE, LLC) that they are going to refund the purchase price of the disk ($160.00) since they are not able to provided a new update DVD disk for my GPS.
When I advised them that my GPS was not working since attempting to update my GPS with their DVD disk almost two months ago their only recommendation was to take back to the dealer. I order the map update from Chrysler Group in good faith but failed to get any real support from them or the Disk manufacturer. On checking their website that offered the map updates I found that the product for GPS update was temporarily out of stock. Apparently the manufacture (HERE, LLC ) realized a problem with the Map update disc. Now I'm still without use of my $60,000.00 Dodge Ram Uconnect 430N navigation system because of a company Chrysler uses to produce map updates for their vehicles. I believe that HERE, LLC should have made an effort to insure that what they produce for consumers are flawless and without error when they want people to buy their product. In this case HERE, LLC has not made any effort to contact consumers and correct their problem with the map update Disk. Very unhappy with Chrysler and customer service.

I do not work the truck, except to plow my own 500 ft. driveway and to tow a 10 ft. enclosed motorcycle trailer to trade shows about 9 times a year, all under 200 miles each way. Other than that, it is used to commute to my shop, or for enjoyment, hunting etc. All was pretty good with it for the first 18K miles.
Then the rear end went, with a bang. It went again about 20K later. The fuel pump, 5 injectors, 4 coils, all spark plug wires, intake manifold gaskets, and the catalytic converter went bad. Two O2 sensors, the headlight dimmer switch, the ignition switch and the body control computer failed. Both upper and lower ball joints on both sides had to be replaced along with the tie rod ends. Both right and left front axle u-joints failed along with the front drive shaft u-joints. The rear drive shaft u-joints failed.... 4 times EACH. The tail light electrical harness failed. The hood latch broke twice. The tailgate latch failed after 150 miles, causing the gate to fall open and dent itself on the trailer we were hauling. The e-brake failed. All four rotors rotted away, and 2 calipers failed.
The front axle bearings failed. The bolts holding the left exhaust manifold rotted away, TWICE. The right hand manifold bolts failed once. The left side headlight harness failed. The catalytic converter failed again. The transmission shift control malfunctioned. The muffler rotted out. The tailpipe fell off. The oil pan rusted through. The air conditioning blender doors broke twice..... $1000 each time. The serpentine belt tensioner fell off. The anti-lock brake controller failed. The left side of the pickup box rusted through above the wheel well. The sliding rear window leaked from day one. The headlight switch broke. The body control computer failed a second time. The check engine light came on for a total of at LEAST 40 times, and was checked, reset, fixes made and turned off each time.
AND, that was only after I only started counting after the first year. AND, all of this took place in 62,000 miles. The truck cost me $8500 out of pocket for the last year I owned it. After 62K miles, I FINALLY got rid of it. And, I am NOT hard on my truck. I have another vehicle for work. THIS one was for pleasure. It received proper maintenance and service, and still was a POS. Unfortunately first major repair as failed transmission which was just after warranty. Dodge Ram pickup. I want to start by saying this is all my personal opinion, take it or leave it, I just wanted to share my experience for anybody that is considering purchasing a diamer chrysler product. I have purchased over 179K personally of Dodge, Chrysler Jeep products, (this is not including the interest paid for financing) and I am truly upset over the lack of customer service for loyal customers as evidenced by the below correspondence from the corporation customer service. I also require fleet vehicles in my business, and have not included the dollars spent for dodge products (Trucks and Vans) in the totals.
I would like to warn anyone considering a Dodge, Chrysler, or Jeep product to do your homework and remember the old adage of you get what you pay for and the mantra that I am sure that the executives of the corporation have posted on their desks: PT Barnum: there is a sucker born every minute! My fleet vehicles over the last 25 years have included all makes and models, the dodge trucks have the worst record for duration of any of the other brands we have purchased.
Generally we have to retire the Chrysler products at less than 100K miles, due to major failures or repeated minor failures. I made the decision to retire a RAM 1500 at only 30K due to repeated failures, a/c, sensors, rear end, etc. although these items were all covered under warranty, in the service industry, lost time is lost money, not to mention the transportation to the dealership, and all of the other associated direct cost. We traded it in on a Ford, it now has over 250K on it and is still running strong. With only the standard wear items being replaced, tires, belts, brakes, etc. I purchased the dodge vehicles personally due to the lower initial cost and the body styles and physical appearance. SUCKER!! I write this to warn anyone that is considering a product from this company that you can either pay now, or pay later.

Purchased a new 2013 Dodge 2500 from O' Daniels Chrysler in Fort Wayne, IN. In Oct. the 1st problems I had was with the steering & transmission. The truck would not steer straight down the road. I took the truck back to O'Daniels 3 times before they found a bad tire, and it still doesn't drive like other ones I have driven. The tranny jerks when it shifts, sometimes it clunks in really bad. O'Daniels said they could not find anything wrong. After taking the truck back several times, O'Daniels informed me that Chrysler told them it is normal for the Dodge 2500 to jerk & clunk into gear, so there's nothing they can do.
In the meantime my wife & I are smelling fumes, we blamed it on semis & other vehicles. Then we noticed fumes when there was nothing else around. The fumes got worse & they happen every 400 to 600 miles, I took truck back to O'Daniels. They kept the truck for 2 weeks & drove it 100 miles. They said they could not reproduce the problem, therefore there is not anything wrong. We picked the truck up from O'Daniels. Within 500 miles the truck put fumes in the cab, this time we had to stop and get out of the truck. I called O'Daniels and they said it did not show up on the computer so they couldn't do anything.
O'Daniels said they would trade us our truck for a 2014 truck, if I would pay an additional 18,000 dollars. The consequence of that is that I am still driving a Dodge Ram with a jerky, clunking transmission and with fumes in the cab. I find it shameful that Chrysler does not care anymore than this about the consumers' safety & health. There is a lot more to be said, but this is about as mild as I can make it.

Well, where do I start. We bought a truck from Kernersville Dodge. It was a $3500.00 Dually and paid cash for the truck. We did this in October and we still do not have the title for this vehicle. We have called the dealer and Chrysler several times and each one has told me that the title was mailed. Then I spoke to a manager and she said, "Well, we don't have the title to send you," so she didn't know what the first 3 people were talking about. We think that the dealer had not paid off the truck and they still had a lien on the title. I couldn't tell you. I have never been lied to so much.
In the meantime. We have had the truck in there for at least 5 times for the vibration. It has been to 3 dealerships now and still Chrysler doesn't want to make it right. Kernersville tried to balance it and then said nothing was wrong. We fussed and fussed until Chrysler sent us to Nichols in Burlington. They did put 2 ties on the front and it was 2 totally different tires then what was on the truck. And they didn't report even doing that job. We fussed about that and they wouldn't make it right. So, we go back to Chrysler and tell them that we are going to get an attorney and get the truck returned and get our money back. The next day we get a call and they have made us an appointment for Crown Dodge in Greensboro. I take the truck in there and the service advisor says oh yeah we had one just like this when he worked at another dealer and we had to fight and fight Chrysler before they would change the tires and it is back tires that we have the issue with. So, he called yesterday and said that Chrysler wouldn't make the tires good and we would have to fight with them. So, I pick it up again today.
The other issue was that we had the radio go out and Kernersville ran a test and said to our face that they would change the radio out. We said okay, expecting them to call when they got it in. And we would AGAIN drive 100 miles round trip to get that done. Well, when the Crown Dodge place called Kernersville Dodge to see if they ordered that radio, the guy said, "Oh, we already changed that radio out." We knew was a lie. When my husband had talked to them the week before to check on all of this, they said that they had no record of getting a radio or that they even tested the radio. They would have to do that again. We had the paperwork where they did it. So, did they do the test or not. We know they didn't change it out. So, Crown ran their own test and yes the radio is bad and they ordered another.
So, now I have in my possession a 60,000 dollar truck with no title and mix match tires that can't be rotated and a radio that goes on and off on its own. Hmmm, but Kernersville Dodge won't make it right. But they were all fine when I was getting ready to make that check out. Oh, yeah I didn't mention that they put the tag under the wrong weight and it was supposed to be a farm tag and it wasn't. Kernersville Dodge did that and didn't want to make that right either. We were told to pay the taxes on the truck and buy another tag. And guess what? I don't have a title or registration to get a tag. The temporary tag has run out. The worst experience I have ever had with a car dealer. They suck. And what makes me so mad is that they don't care. They really could care less if you are a happy customer or not.

Today Chrysler told me that there is nothing they will do and the only thing I can do is pay or trade/sell the truck because it is an '03 with 107000 miles. I have owned the truck for one year and three months. I understand that it is used and there is no warranty but when three dealerships and Chrysler techs can't figure out the problem, I think Chrysler should do more than what they are. I think that this is a very big safety issue and they would want to make sure that it was taken care of but it seems as if their only concern is for me to pay more money.

Purchased a used Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab with Hemi 3 months ago...191,000 miles. Nice truck, had a mechanic look at it. The Spark Plug coil pack melted on Sunday. Replaced it along with a fuse. This morning (Thursday), same coil pack did the same thing. Anyone know of issues regarding this? Called Dodge, they told me no recalls. The Dodge Ram is supposed to be a superior truck, but I've had it for 3 months and it's been in the shop 4 times! I had a Honda Accord for 5 years that was in the shop only 4 times in 5 years. Help!

The transmission shifted into 4th gear and would not shift from there into a lower or higher gear. The truck (2011 Dodge Ram 1500) has 79,000 miles on it. You could still shift it into reverse, but to go forward it was stuck in 4th gear. The truck is still at the dealer. They have told us we would have to pay for the controller they replaced even though this has not fixed the problem. They are now working on the internal parts of the transmission.

I bought A Brand new 2012 Dodge 1500 Ram and had to take it back to the dealer to get a moisture problem fixed, drops of water dripping from the ceiling of the cab. Dealer saw the problem said they fixed it and if it comes back I would get a new truck. The problem was not fixed, there is excess moisture on the dash. It's covered in ice after parking it overnight in winter and they refuse to repair my defective truck or give me a new one. I have never had this problem with any other new vehicle and am being stuck with a defective non-properly sealed truck that I bought new and paid cash for.

On 7/15/13, I purchased a Dodge Ram truck from Smolich Motors in Bend. I love the Truck but the finance officer wasn't clear and didn't explain all the extra cost he added on to our deal. After examining the paperwork within a month later, I decided to cancel the extended warranty and the service that I was told was free. I then decided to go through my credit union for the finance but they had to wait for the extended warranty to go through the other bank and be refunded first. 90 days later they finally refunded the $2,200. Then the service contract I was told would come directly to me and wouldn't have to go through the bank sense it was through the dealership and it would only take two to three weeks.
Well that was back in October and now we are in to December and I still don't have the refund for the service which I never wanted and never used. The last time I checked they told me it had to go through the bank and the bank would send it back to me. I checked with the Bank and they had not received it. So now we have my money in limbo somewhere and nobody will do anything about it. ** at the dealership has treated me like He doesn't have the time for me and I'm unimportant. His excuse for all the mix up was the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I found him rude and very unprofessional. I don't enjoy being treated with disrespect. I will never deal with that dealership again. Just would like to get the refund they owe me.

I bought a new 2012 Ram Quad cab with the hemi in April of 2012. About the time I hit 7,000 miles on the truck, I developed a nasty vibration in the truck once you leveled out the speed at around 50 MPH. Being a Mechanic for a living, I started to pay attention to this vibration and accelerated to see if I could drive out of the vibration to which I was able to. This vibration was not there all of the time. It would come and go and had a mind of its own.
My wife and I went for a nice drive one day. And on our way back we were in a 30 MPH zone, leveled out speed, the truck jolted forward 2 times in about 500 feet of driving without me hitting the accelerator. At that time, I decided to make an appointment to drop the truck off at the dealer to get it checked out. When I went in to the dealership to look at vehicles for my wife, I went in to set the appointment up and spoke with the Service Manager. I started to explain to him what the truck was doing. And he knew exactly what it was doing and cut me off and told me to drive the truck and level out the speed - when it starts to vibrate, hit the tow-haul button and see if it stops vibrating.
He told me that they have this complaint frequently. I did what he had asked of me to do, and it helped the problem, but did not totally get rid of the vibration. So I took the truck in and dropped it off. I told them to drive the truck to see what I was talking about and a service tech wanted to drive the truck with me. So we went for a drive and he was driving the truck. We got onto a smooth fresh paved road and sure enough, he verified the complaint. We drove back to the dealership and pulled the truck into his bay. He hooked up the computer/scanner to check for flashes (updates). To my surprise, there were several, and he said he would flash the truck and drive it again to see if one of them would cure the vibration.
When we got back from sons basic training in Georgia, I went to pick up the truck. They said it was done and the flashes took care of the vibration. I got in the truck and drove away and BAM, vibration still there. So I called them again and talked to them. The Service manager stated that it was normal for this truck to do this, that he could take me to the lot and put me in any brand new RAM and it would do the same thing. I was not going for this stupidity, so I contacted Ram brand and told them of the problem. They assigned me a case manager (A Woman who sits behind a computer). I received a call from her and she told me she would contact the dealer and get back to me after she verified my complaint.
When she finally called me back, she told me that they wanted to send out a district tech advisor to drive the truck. After this was done, the tech advisor reported that it was "as per design" and was totally normal and will not hurt anything and needs no repair at this time. I have made several calls to the case manager to no avail. The service manager actually told me that he felt 2 separate vibrations but they could not do anything without the approval of Chrysler LLC's approval, because they do not know what is causing the problem. The case manager tells me that the service manager says the truck is fine. They played me the entire time, then they tell me I have 3 choices - live with it, trade truck in for new truck and pay the difference or take to another dealer. I took to another dealer and dropped it off with them. They verified the vibration and did some serious investigating and said that they believe it is related with the torque converter but cannot do anything as of yet until it gets worse.
We purchased a travel trailer in June which weighs 6,400 LBS. This truck has shifting issues when pulling this camper, and at times when shifting into final gear, it slams/clunks and shifts very hard. So now here I sit, 21,000 miles on the truck and still nothing done about it. Did a Google search on this complaint and my oh my, the complaints of this exact issue and yet nothing gets done about it. Before this problem became so severe, and I figured Chrysler would take care of this, we purchased a brand new 2012 Journey Crew fully loaded and 2 brand new 2012 Avengers for the kids, and this is how they treat us… My brother in law has the exact same truck and does not have this problem at all, yet they say it is as per design... HMMM.

We had just purchased a 2012 Ram 3500 Laramie truck in January 2013. Since purchasing this truck, we have had the navigation system think it was in the USA as a default and system was reset in Feb. and had further issues with roads missing and thinking the default was again USA which was reset again in April. We were on a trip in Aug. and the navigation then would not recognize anything other than major interstates, including lakes or rivers... Everything seemed to be gone. Roads that were there for 50 years missing. That trip took me almost 4 hrs out of the way because it did not know the roads or see them. We had just returned the truck again for the third time with similar issues with Nav to Courtesy Chrysler Calgary, the dealer we purchased the truck from, and this time told they could not do anything as the system had all the latest updates and we need to go online to Navtech and tell them our problems and they may provide answers to our issues.
This is basically dumping us, the owner, with the problem with a $4000 Navigation system that will not function properly and us to try to resolve. This truck only has 18,000 KM on it. Funny thing, I was about to purchase another truck or SUV this weekend and it will not be a Chrysler product and when my 2009 Chrysler 300C is ready to go, it will not be replaced by a Chrysler product because of the poor customer service I had to experience with this truck. By the way, I called the Chrysler hot line only to be told they could not help... LOL. I purchase a new vehicle roughly every two to four years times two... Lots of money losses for someone not to mention my 5 kids asking me what to buy or any people we know...and we know more than one.

My husband bought me a 2011 Dodge Ram Buckhorn Edition truck for Christmas in December 2010. Six months after we purchased the truck, there was a recall notice for the rear main seal. The original dealership we bought it from (Town & Country) replaced seal. Not even a week after this was done, there was a noise from the rear end. So after 2 1/2 years and 3 dealerships and 4 caseworkers from Dodge, my truck is still sitting at dealership and Dodge Tech still not responding on what to do. Rear end was replaced (all components) except main rear end frame. Then they thought it was a leak from the exhaust system. Received 2nd recall notice in January 2013 for bolt for rear end which Dodge has not even manufactured or has available as of August 2013.
Now the noise is determined that it is between rear end and transmission (drive train). Took 22 foot trailer for test drive with technician. Now Dodge's technician wants them to put 400 to 500 lbs in back of truck to see what it does. What's the point? As of last night, Dodge caseworker was going to try and contact regional tech to see why he is not responding to dealership's request for further action. Needless to say I have printed out paperwork to file a complaint with Governor's office under the Lemon Law. Will be sending certified letters to corporate office today and filing my complaint. According to Georgia Lemon Law, as I read it, if a vehicle is not available for normal use and has depreciated in value, it is considered a "Lemon". I say I have a lemon.

This will be a VERY short version. My husband and I have always worked, never had help from the government. Never had anything repoed or taken back. This was VERY VERY embarrassing & degrading! Bought our 2007 Dodge one ton truck. In 2010 we got behind on 2-3 payments and was contacting Chrysler each month to try to let them know we would send them money asap (I have all names and dates of all of this). Husband was working in Arkansas and the truck broke down, was told it was the fuel injectors. We had them fixed at the price of $3600. While the truck set at the dealership and we were waiting on our taxes to pay the bill, Chrysler contacted us and said they were repoing the truck. They felt that where the truck was sitting was dangerous and they would pick it up. We paid Chrysler $2025 to catch the bill up in full and take it off the repo list. Why would we pay them that much money if it didn't take it off the list of being picked up?
Two weeks later they picked the truck up from the dealership where we had it worked on even AFTER paying the bill in full!!! The dealership was going to take all our personal belongings out of the truck for us but the repo company said not to worry they would do that. The repo company cleans out the truck and drags it to a Texas auction. We hired an attorney so we could get the truck back and continue making payments on it. We did not want it to go to auction then we have to pay that huge difference when it sold while someone else drove the thing around. Then we would have to buy another vehicle for my husband to go to work in.
I go to Texas to pick the truck up. It has 3 new dents in it and the mirror is broke! When I pick up the truck in Texas I immediately go to Arkansas to the repo company to pick up my husband’s stuff. The repo company had stolen our GPS, some knives, a NICE pair of jumper cables made out of welding leads and several other things that were in the truck. I'm pretty sure the dealership would not have stolen that stuff out of the truck I know that repo company did. Their office was an old house that was really run down and nasty, would not let my kids out of the truck while I was there. The repo company swears there was nothing else in the truck except what I picked up! They lied, Chrysler lied and up to date we have paid about $60,000 all in cashier’s checks. But Chrysler gets to make the rules up as they go along!! No one ever gets on to them or how they conduct business.
Once we got the truck back and started making these ridiculous payment of $1270 per month it still breaks down. Still had to pay the $3600 for fuel injectors. The front tire and WHOLE rim fell off while driving down the highway pulling a camper heading to another job. Sparks were flying and it caught on fire. I wish we had no morals we should have let the dang thing burn! That was almost $3000. The thing is always in the shop! For what we have paid out in repairs we could have bought another truck!! I'm teaching my kids and anyone who will listen NOT to buy anything from Chrysler!!

On the 20th of June 2013, I took a trip to West Virginia for a family emergency (597 miles one way). I fought my truck the entire way. Whenever I came up on a bridge with an expansion joint, I just held on for the ride and wait for the wobble to cease. My truck is a 2011 Ram 3500 DRW with the Cummins VIN # **. When I left, I had 12,200 miles on it. The truck now has 13,321 miles on it. This is also causing excessive wear on the front tires. When I left West Virginia to come home on the 23rd, my front tire pressure was 70 psi. I stopped at the halfway point at a rest area after experiencing a bad death wobble. I checked the front tire pressure. It was at 75 psi (higher due to heat). I dropped the air pressure down to 65 psi in hopes to ease the death wobble. Back on the road again, it seemed to help a little. The wobble was still there, but not as serious. After another hour or so on the road, the wobble came back, and I stopped again and checked tires. Front was at 68 psi. I dropped it down to 60 psi and started driving again. This time the pressure did not help the death wobble, and thank God for traffic in the city. I was forced to drive under 20 mph through the city.
I made it to the Interstate 495 (LIE), started off in heavy traffic, moving about 20 mph. Traffic started clear around exit 35-36, then I hit a bump with the right front tire and all hell broke loose. I was doing 40 mph at this time. The truck front end started to violently shake and then the rear started to bounce. I was in the center lane when this happened with traffic on all sides. I applied the brakes and tried to steer to the right. The truck continued to go straight and then started to go sideways to the left. Once my speed dropped below 5 mph is when I regained control of my truck and then pulled off at exit 37. I turned around, got on the northbound side and stopped at a Gulf gas station and called roadside assistance. This is the 23rd of June, and 45 miles away from home. I hit a bump/pothole and the truck started shaking violently. The truck went sideways in the road. This time was the worst. I was sideways in the road, in heavy traffic on the Long Island Expressway. This incident was terrifying and almost caused a serious accident. Are they (Chrysler/Ram) waiting for someone to die?
I called Chrysler Roadside Assistance and they would only tow my vehicle to one of their locations, not my dealer or my house. They named a few, and since I am not from this area, I choose the one they listed in Hempstead, NY because I knew where Hempstead was. The dealer was Garden City Jeep. On 24 June 2013, I called Garden City to check on my truck. They did not look at it today. On 25 June 2013, I called Garden City to check on my truck. Service rep said mechanic took truck for test drive and everything was okay. Service rep said they will look at the front end once their lift is available. I have been without my truck since the 23rd of June 2013. I called the dealer today and he made a comment that they do not normally work on heavy duty trucks but started reviewing the problem. He made the statement that "When I bottomed out", I never said that... I said no, my truck had the Death Wobble, and explained to him that I never said that I bottomed out.
It is going on day 4, still without truck, and now the dealer is talking about taking it to another dealer. The reason for this is my truck will not fit on their lift. This is an ongoing problem with the Ram Trucks. Are you waiting for someone to die in an accident? I am a heart patient and you came close to having a death on your hands. This has shaken me up so much that I do not want to drive the truck home. What would have happened if I was towing my camper? Here are some of my issues: First, my truck was taken to a Chrysler Dealer that does not work on Heavy Duty Trucks. Tow truck that was set up by Chrysler Road Assistance had to swap trucks when he found out it was a 3,500 dually. This caused a delay on his arrival. Service manager said mechanic test-drove and found nothing wrong. Service manager said they checked the front end and everything looked okay. Service manager said my truck would not fit on their lift. So how did they check my truck out?
On June 26, 2013 at 1400H, I called Ram Customer Asst. and spoke with Christa. She is going to have my truck taken to a dealer that is capable of working on the heavy duty trucks. I asked if she could take it back to Port Jeff. She will call me back and let me know. On June 26, 2013 at 1715H, I checked home answering machine; message from Christa (Ram Assist) said they were taking my truck to Westbury. They refused to take it back to Port Jeff where I purchased the truck. June 27, 2013 at 0800H, this is day four (4) without my truck. Chrysler Assistance originally towed my truck to a dealer that was not equipped to work on my truck. Now, I have to start over again with a new service rep. My opinion is Ram is collecting all the information with respect to the years/models, and then they will post a recall, or in my case, fix it quietly when the truck goes to the shop for the wobble. At 0930H, I tracked down the truck. It is located at Westbury Jeep Dodge. No service advisor as of now.
At 0935H, service rep left a message on my home phone, not cell phone. At 1130H, I spoke with the service rep. (Lenny). He wanted to review/go over why the truck is there. He said that I bottomed out. I corrected him right away and told him the other place said the same, and that I don't know where that came from. I told him that I had the Death Wobble. He said "Oh, okay," and no more questions were asked. After we talked for a few minutes, he said here is the issue... They only have one (1) mechanic authorized to work on the Cummins chassis and he has 4-5 Sprinter Vans ahead of me. I asked, "How long?" and he said maybe 1-2 weeks, depends on what the Vans are in for. Lenny the service rep said he would get back to me this evening or tomorrow evening with an update.
At 1730H, message was left on home answering machine by the Chrysler caseworker. I returned his call, but had no luck. It went to his voicemail. On June 28, 2013 at 0752H, day 5 and no truck, and no call from Westbury Chrysler Jeep. Just to be clear, this is not Westbury's fault and I am not upset with them. Lenny is working with me as best as possible. At 1130H, I went home for lunch, checked answering machine and had no messages. I called Ram Asst. and left a voicemail with Gus. Gus returned my call 10 minutes later. He stated that the dealer knows what the problem is, but are not complete with troubleshooting. Gus said he will get back to me today, and if not today then not later than Tuesday of next week. I went searching on the internet and found out that the 2011 Power Wagon had the same issue. I wonder if they have the same front end. If not, what then is in common?
July 1, 2013, no truck and no word from the dealer or Ram (Gus). At 1705H, I checked home answering machine. Lenny from Westbury left message stating that the steering stabilizer was the cause. They placed one on order, should be there on the 2nd (from my previous experience, the steering stabilizer is a shock absorber mounted horizontally and is usually installed in older vehicles to prevent the wobble of loose/sloppy steering issues). Hope it works. I know these trucks come stock from the factory with the stabilizer installed. Why? On July 2nd, 2013 at 1700H, I checked home voicemail. Lenny from Westbury left message. While listening to the message, Lenny called again and I spoke to him. He said, "Good news and bad news. Mechanic was test driving truck after oil change and heard a clunking sound left front." Lenny said the mechanic will put the truck on the lift once it is available again. Truck will probably be done on the 3rd of July around noontime.
July 3rd, 2013 at 0730H, ten days without my truck, and it is still not repaired. According to the service rep., the problem was the steering stabilizer. I have swapped out stabilizers on other trucks/jeeps in the past. This is a bolt-on item that should take less than 1 hour to replace. What took so long to repair my truck? Why did the dealer not have stock on a common part? Why was my truck towed to a shop that was not certified/capable to work on my truck? Why has RAM not corrected this issue with a re-call? Why did I pay over $58,000 for a truck and have to put up with this type of service? I am a betting man. I will bet that when I pick up my truck (when it is finally repaired), the fuel tank will be on empty, the inside will be dirty, and the truck was not washed.
At 1130H-1215H, no message from the dealer on my truck. No message from Gus at Ram Services. Dealer is not open on the 4th of July, so hopefully my truck will be ready on the 5th of July. At 1730H, I arrived home, listened to voicemail. Truck is ready to pick up. Too late in the day to pick up, so I decided to wait until the next open business day (5th of July). July 8th, 2013 0630H not a good day on July 5th. I arrived at Westbury Jeep/Chrysler around 9:00-9:30. I asked the cashier who I see about picking up my truck. She asked who my service rep is. I said Lenny (one of 5 reps). She went in the back, brought out some paperwork and said that I owed them $111 for the oil change. I paid the amount due. She then said to give my paperwork to one of the valets outside and they would bring my truck around. To give you an idea of this place, it takes up 1 block, cars/trucks are double-parked in the street, tightly packed in the yard.
The valet brought my truck around and that is when I noticed the right rear bumper. There is a nice dent/paint missing. The dent is very recent. I instructed the valet to go and get my service rep (who I have never met). Lenny came out and looked at my truck. I voiced my opinion of what I thought and Lenny went inside to get his boss. Lenny's boss came out, looked at it, went inside grabbed my vehicle delivery receipt and noticed that there were no dings/dents in that area, just on the tailgate which I knew about. I asked them what they were going to do about this. Their response was to come back when the body shop was open, drop off my truck for a few days, let them fix what they messed up. My wife asked if we can get a loaner car. The answer was no. My truck has been locked up by Chrysler for 12 days. The dealer replaced the steering stabilizer and dented my rear bumper.
On the way home, my truck would still shimmy/wobble when I would hit a bump. Not as severe as before, but there is still an issue there. The new stabilizer dampens the problem, not fix the problem. This is probably why the stabilizer went bad at only 12,000 miles. I want my new truck fixed correctly. Once I got home, rolled down the window, stood outside the truck with the engine running, and started turning the steering wheel quickly to the left and right (just enough to move the front tires) and you can notice a jerky/sloppy motion on the tire. I am not a very happy person. I am very unhappy with Chrysler, Westbury Jeep, Lenny (Service rep). I am going to wait until Gus (Chrysler worked) shows up, then I will give him a call and say hi.
At 0700H, when I picked up my truck, it had over 50 miles on it (a lot of test drives?) from when it was towed away, it was dirty inside and out, fuel tank below 1/4 tank, the old oil change sticker from the previous oil change. I crawled under the truck to see if they did in fact change the oil. Even the oil drain plug was dirty/oily from them removing the drain plug. Come on, wipe the drain plug off when you re-install the plug. This is basic mechanic stuff. HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I CHANGED!? Your dealers are worried about one thing. MONEY. Not the customer. This is one of two dealers that Chrysler would tow my truck to... 1st place Garden City could not fix the problem. 2nd place only replaced a steering stabilizer and dented my truck. Problem not fixed.
My truck is the Ram 3500 Dually Long Horn and looked very nice before going to one of your dealers. Just over 13,000 miles, right rear dent, and a loose front end. This truck looks and rides like a truck that has over 100,000 miles on it. NOT GOOD. At 0810H, I called Gus (caseworker), no answer, left voicemail/message and for him to call me on my cell. At 0911H, no call back from anyone. I tried sending Sergio an email... not sure of email address. At 1200H, while I was at home for lunch, I looked at my front tires. One would have assumed when Westbury Jeep was troubleshooting my truck, they would have inflated the tires to 70psi. I checked them at lunchtime and they were down to 58 psi.
At 1230H, back from lunch. NO message or any calls from Chrysler. At 1315H, emails have been sent to the following personnel, which none have replied back: Sergio **, Reid **, Dave **. At 1604H, no word from anyone at Chrysler. The service manager at Westbury Jeep called and left a voicemail on the home phone and he said he was glad/appreciated my business, and just wanted to thank me for being a loyal customer. (This is a case of the left hand not talking to the right hand.) On July 9, 2013 at 0645H, no word from Chrysler. On the way to work, the truck started the wobble again. Not as severe. When it starts, it seems like it goes back towards the center of the chassis. It's like the chassis is flexing/twisting.
At 0700H, follow up emails have been sent to the following personnel, which none have replied back: Sergio **, Reid **, Dave **. At 0813H, I called Gus at Chrysler and left another voicemail for him to call me back. At 0813H, I signed up on the Cummins forum. Very interesting and a lot of issues with the Death Wobble. At 1055H, after another call (800-763-8422) to Chrysler and one more attempt to speak with Gus (**), I finally spoke to Christa, explained the situation to her and she was able to connect me to Gus. Gus stated that my original case has been forwarded to another department and will be assigned a new caseworker. I asked for their phone number, but Gus did not have it, and said I would have the phone number once someone called me back. Now, I wait until another caseworker calls me.

I have told others about the key sticks in the switch. Also I had the truck towed to the dealer in Salisbury, MD. The tow company got the wrecker in my neighbor's yard and she charged me $400 to have the yard fixed. Then on top of that, they did not take my truck where it was supposed to go (to the dealership). Not only am I upset with the tow company, but with Chrysler. If this problem is not fixed, I am taking the the truck back to the dealer. I am going to leave it and get a Chevy truck. I expect this be taken care of and give back the money I have already spent. I will not go back to Dodge Chrysler.

He held water from the garden hose on it until the VFD arrived to extinguish what was left. The end result is that from the cab forward, it is totally burned to the ground. With only liability insurance on it, it's a total loss with no idea how it caught on fire. The point of origin looks to be from the driver's side fender well area under the hood. I've heard numerous rumors of the fuse boxes shorting out, and/or the avs shorting out causing the fire.
Thus far, I've not seen or heard of any recall from Dodge. Can anyone guide me to the correct direction for restitution for my truck that was in great condition with many more miles of dependability left in it or so I thought? Is Dodge going to stand behind their product that has been proven by other owners to have this problem and make good for it? Or just keep taking our money for vehicles with a lifespan of maybe lasting long enough to pay them off before just having to dispose of it?

Where do I start?! We purchased a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 new off the lot, after trading in our Dodge mini-van purchased new in 2004. Financing was really easy through Chrysler Finance. This was the only positive thing in all of our experience with this truck. The first year, we had problems with the gas cap light coming on, then the engine light. We had regular maintenance because we needed to have a reliable truck for our outfitting business. Within the next year, one day, the truck wouldn't even start. We found out that the anti-theft sensor in the steering column wouldn't accept our key. Again, we needed a new sensor; this was one of many to follow.
We had to replace the radiator several times, have it flushed because the heater wouldn't work. The air-conditioning hasn't worked for 3 years now. The computer has been eating up all our money, and the dealer refused to change it when it was still under warranty. A sensor for the windshield washer fluid has been on for 2 years; the engine light is still on and now after the truck is finally paid off, the anti-theft device needs to be replaced again. I forgot to mention that the rear end, after the first year, started slipping. I could go on but I think a person reading this gets the message. Yes, there are a lot of kilometers on this vehicle since 2007, but it has been a very stressful experience and journey. I am sorry to say but through all of the trouble with this Dodge Ram, we had to rely on a 1997 Ford F150. Never again will we buy a Dodge.

My hubby could have been killed. Very lucky my two year old son wasn't aboard. They are claiming that there is a nail hole in the tire and that’s what caused the blow out. As if passing over $50,000 to them for the truck wasn't enough. Now we are driving around with a 17 inch dummy tire on our brand new truck. She is off level from having 20 inch tires on all besides one. Something needs to be done about this.

Repeated failures with the ventilation system. Everyone I know who has a 2003 or newer Ram has had the same problems. Dodge knew the systems would fail but DID NOTHING to improve them. If you have the dealer fix the problems, it WILL happen again because they use the same cheap parts. Because it is so time consuming to fix the problem, labor will cost you at least $1,000. It doesn't matter if you have it fixed under warranty because the system will again and again as long as the same parts are used.
I have spent over 30 hours removing the entire dash, including steering wheel, instrument panel, passenger airbag, glove box, climate control panel, radio, etc., etc. to fix the problem myself. The only permanent solution is to replace the crappy "doors" located inside the ventilation ducts. I cannot even begin to describe how difficult it is attempting to access these areas and if you don't have a modicum of mechanical aptitude, forget it. Dodge used these same cheap parts in a lot of vehicles, including Jeep Grand Cherokees. Absolute crap.

The computer has been changed along with other items. Chrysler now claims that the engine is out of warranty because of bad fuel. Not to mention, the last dealer who had it left the motor disassembled and pieces missing. I highly recommend anyone going for a Chrysler or Dodge product to seriously reconsider. They did not offer or have available a truck canopy to fit the truck box so I contacted Auto Truck Depot in Calgary to order a canopy for this truck box. They attempted to install the canopy on May 8, 2013 and discovered the truck box was installed at the factory by the manufacturer crooked. The defect is very visible looking down the passenger side from the rear when it meets the truck cab. It is even but looking down the driver's side from the rear when it meets the truck cab, it is 1 1/4" inside of the truck cab. The space between the truck cab and the truck box is 1 1/4" different from the driver's side to the passenger side.
I returned the vehicle to Crowfoot Dodge on May 8 for the truck box to be loosened and squared to the truck cab but this made no difference at all when they tightened the bolts down. They apparently suggested winching the box straight but I am presently left with this situation and a truck canopy that is prepaid but cannot be installed as it will damage the truck cab due to the improper installation of the truck box by the manufacturer. There must be other trucks with this same problem but unless you are installing a truck canopy, it is not something you would notice or look for.

After having it in the shop many times, they still cannot find the vibration issue. I have had my 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi for 6 months now. The first problem is Sirius radio does not work all the time. It cuts off and on almost constantly. Second, and most troubling, is the transmission is not shifting properly from over drive (6th) down to any other setting. It takes about 5 to 10 seconds to respond, and while in cruise, it will delay downshifting while climbing an incline for as long as it takes to drop 5 to 7 miles per hour before it reacts. The other problem is first thing in the morning, the transmission will not go into reverse. You start the truck and drop it into reverse, and it just sits there. Put it back into park and wait about 1 to 3 minutes, and it goes into reverse but backs up so slowly that you would swear it was freezing outside.
Next, the rear view mirror doesn't dim at night. Next, there is no road hazard warranty on the tires direct from Goodyear or the dealer, but they don't tell you that. Next, the truck was advertised to get 20 highway and 14 in town. My GMC truck got 21 on the highway, and this thing gets at best 13.8 MPG. I was told that the mileage should improve. I now have 38K on the truck, and fuel mileage has dropped to 9.2 MPG.
Now to the best part. I have had this truck in my dealer's face at least 1 week a month or more every month for the past 6 months (since purchased new), and the line I'm being fed is that there is nothing wrong with my truck. Since it has not set a code, the dealer (and per Dodge) cannot change a part or spend their money correcting anything that isn't or doesn't break.
I make my living with my truck. I'm losing money every mile I drive with the fuel expenses. A friend of mine is getting 22 MPG with his truck (a new 2012 also). Any one with a 2012 Ram that is experiencing the fuel mileage problems I have seen, please contact me. I need 500 owners with verifiable fuel mileage concerns to start a class action suit against Dodge. I was happy with it up until about 6 months ago. I noticed quite a few "dimples" in the paint on the driver side rear fender. A short period later, like a month, I noticed that the factory paint had a bunch of tiny bubbles in it which looked like pink dots. I took it to a few body shops in my area and 4 out of 5 called it "solvent pop". They all said it was a Dodge/Chrysler issue. After speaking to Jamie **, who never returned a phone call to me, they said, "No, sorry, but we can't help." Then they followed it with a "because I am the second owner.” **!
I decided to get it painted myself, so I have it for my spring and summer shows. The cost of a factory color paint job was $9,000-$10,000. A custom two-tone paint job was $11,000-$12,000. So I said screw it and went custom. It’s almost finished. I then spoke with two other "Ram specialists" (as they call themselves) "Marylou" and "Matt" and then they told me that if I would have waited, they could have help. And if I went to a Dodge/Chrysler certified body shop, they could have done something to help me. After hearing this, I flipped out. Why wouldn't they tell me this from the beginning? Why couldn't they have told me this from the start? I also told them I would be happy splitting the cost 50/50, but they said no. So now I am looking to get the entire cost of the factory paint work, as they should give me for all this ** grief.
I am still fighting with them about this. Nobody from Dodge/Chrysler other than the dealership owner that I get it serviced at has seen it. I sent photos to Jamie ** and had to send a nasty and a bit personal email to get a response. Within 3 hours, I had a response and I was provided a survey to rate the service. Within another 2 hours of my negative response, an email was sent back to me telling me that they were standing behind their current decision. Why won't Dodge/Chrysler stand behind their product? There is a problem with the CD player, it skips towards the end of the CD songs - it rattles, and if you hit a bump, it ejects the playing CD. The mechanic claimed he could not duplicate this problem as well.
So I asked Micheal (one of the service order writers) to get in the truck with me and I put in a CD less than a month old and showed him how it starts skipping towards the end of the CD. He claimed he heard it skipping, which of course it was. I am so tired of these people thinking I will just go away and live with the problems my new truck has... I guess! I've had the truck 6 months and it has a little over 8,000 miles on it. These 2 problems I have with the truck since the first day I drove it home. At this point in time, I no longer want them to fix the CD player. I want a brand new one! I don't think they know how to fix it since the problem is still there 6 months later! I sure hope you can help me.

At 35000 km, my Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins developed a coolant leak. It's so serious that it was towed the dealership. As it turned out, one of the 2 bolts that hold the pump in place had come right out. Now, it gets good! I was told that they have to order this bolt. One bolt, what could be special about this bolt that it could not be found anywhere but at a MOPAR warehouse?
While my truck was in the shop, I asked that they look at the recall, front end, and tie rod. As it turned out again, I need new tie rod ends. They have to be ordered. I was told they would be ordered with the bolt. The next day, the bolt was in and installed; the tie rod parts were not shipped. First, I'm told by the service manager that they were not aware that one was needed when in fact I was told the day before. Then I was told that there is a limit to how many tie rods they are allowed to order per week! Really?

Dealer tells me the front end is designed for the 5.9 engine, not the 6.7. To get all the repairs done, it will be $2,000.00. I bought the truck new from the same dealership. The truck currently has just over 36,000 miles on it. During my 13,000 miles of ownership to date, the following has been replaced or repaired on this truck (majority of which were sold to me this way): broken front wheel; air filter with 1/2 inch of dirt; windshield wipers; windshield washer fluid empty; front tie rod end; front coil overs/struts; repaired dent/rust on tail gate (Part of Sales Agreement/I paid a discount); tires; front brakes and rotors; rear brakes and rotors; transmission fluid; trans axle fluid; transfer case fluid; spark plugs; anti-freeze; fuel injectors had to be cleaned so engine would idle properly; gas cap; pressure sensor for gas tank (so check engine light would go out); and serpentine belt.
I have an office job and all this truck hauls is a DVD movie and a bag of groceries on occasion. This truck is nothing a but a poorly built pile of junk and a money pit that has taken away from the quality of my life and caused me much stress and anxiety. Never again! I am done with Dodge.

We took our 2008 truck to the garage to get it fixed, cost us $700.00. Now, they are telling us the tie rod needs to be replaced. The mechanic that my husband talked to said that you now have to replace the whole thing, that they changed it; it is going to cost us around $1,000.00 to get this replaced.
We have a family to take care of and thought we were buying something at $500.00 a month that we could depend on. If they changed the part within the last 2 years because of problems, why is the part not a recall? I keep telling my husband I will never and I mean never own another Dodge! This is the second Dodge truck that we have owned since 2005. The first one was a Dodge 2002 and we had nothing but problems with that also. On 2/22/12, I took my '06 Dodge Ram 1500 to the Jeff Wyler Chrysler/Jeep Dealership at 100 Alexandria Pike, in Ft. Thomas, KY in response to not one but two recall announcements. After the dealership repaired the turn signal malfunction, I received a call telling me the "lug nuts bloated" and not easily coming off. I was then informed it would cost me $159.60 for new lug nuts and replacing. In view of the fact, I was there in response to a Chrysler recall to replace a hub bearing which required removing the wheels. It amazes me the dealer doesn't have a lug wrench to remove the original lug nuts. I discussed this with the service manager to see if this was an unusual occasion. The response was a yes. At that point, I began to suspect this is one of those dealer scam occurrences. I called the Chrysler Dodge Ram Case Management Group in Detroit. After playing "telephone tag" with a "Leslee" for week to finally get her to understand which Jeff Wyler dealership in KY and OH I had dealt with, she was very unsure of the next steps.
I asked to speak to a manager. I talked to a man who was totally unfamiliar with the case and immediately took the corporate position that the lug nuts are out of warranty. I found that apprehensible. If Chrysler can't make a lug nut that lasts longer than one year, I'm not surprised the American auto industry is in big trouble. A very discourteous woman got on the line and echoed the same thing. Just so you know, I currently own two Chrysler products. I also leased a Chrysler 300C about 4 years ago. In net, I have owned three Chrysler products in the past 4 years and was in fact looking at Jeep SUVs at that dealer for my wife. In conclusion, I am very angry about being ripped off by a dealer who doesn't own a usable lug wrench. Even more so, I'm angry at a company like Chrysler that is so shortsighted you are willing to lose significant future business rather than correct what I believe is a very poor customer service decision. Unless I receive a full refund of $159.60, I will soon divest myself from the Dodge Stratus and the Ram 1500.

My complaint is regarding my 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie 4X4 Crew Cab. I specially ordered my truck and waited a little over a month for delivery. On the day of delivery, I did a general inspection to make sure the truck had 4 tires and that the gauge display had worked. I followed my wife back home and then parked the truck in my driveway by itself. We went in for a few hours came back out as I helped her into the passenger side of the truck. I noticed that on the b-pillar next to the door latch the truck had a dime size paint chip missing down to the bare metal. I phoned the dealer and was told they'll take care of it. I had my wife take it in. My wife noticed that at the same time the plates were wrong, commercial instead of passenger. So they said they would fix that.
The dealer tried to pass off touch up paint, a big glob in fact as a quality fix on a 2012 Brand new truck! I was obviously annoyed with this. I complained, they said they'll send it out to the body shop. This got me concerned to look over the whole vehicle in depth. I checked everywhere. I found multiple scratches in the door jams both on pillars and on the doors themselves all were down to the bare metal! I also found a dent on the driver’s side door that had to come from the factory, seeing how it was at a 45 degree angle an inch behind the handle and had no scratch to it or no paint from another vehicle. The dealership made excuses, but their service guy even stated, hey it was definitely a factory caused blemish. I was told they would take care of it all. I questioned a loner car for the time it was being fixed. I had taken the time to mark with frog tape all the issues and write out a list explaining them and how I didn't want any bond/body filler used and no touch up paint on the vehicle.
When my wife went to drop the truck off and hand the service guy the paper I printed up for them, he tells my wife, "Oh, this list gets longer and longer." They gave my wife 2000 Dodge Neon that stunk like b.o. and ran with no child seat restraint hooks in the rear. I have a newborn that had to be placed in there. Needless to say, I was perturbed. I called Chrysler and made an official complaint. They had my truck for almost a full week and they didn't bother to give as much as an update call. I had to call both Chrysler and the dealership to find out what was going on.
I felt skeptical about my trucks repairs and asked to know what body shop they had it sent to. I was told and attempted to get the technical info on how it was fixed directly from the body shop. They gave me the run around and told me speak to the people at riverhead dodge. I thought it strange like a cover up since it's my truck and the people who worked on it had brushed me off to speak to the dealership. I inform Chrysler and they tell me they'll be contacting Riverhead Dodge and get back to me with exactly how my truck was repaired. I said okay. I had to call Chrysler back to get the info from them. I was told some spots were touched up. I was not happy.
I then got a call from Riverhead Dodge service dept. stating my truck was all ready for pick up. Due to my work hours and service dept hour’s confliction, I had to go over my truck with a salesman who could care less and was insisting I be happy with what was done. I was not, they had used touch up paint on one of the spots, didn't bother to finish wet sanding another and left a paint run on one. I was furious! I left the truck with a brief note to the service manager explaining why I felt it was not done. I called Chrysler, asked for a manager even though I was told that a manager was to be contacting me in regards to my case. I again had to contact them. I was told and I quote! "Since the dealership is satisfied with the repairs made to the vehicle, we here at Chrysler are satisfied with the repairs made to the vehicle." Wow! Some customer service, huh. I thought it was the customer whom they had to satisfy. Guess not.
That’s where my complaints have been since. I then during the very next week after, noticed when cleaning my trucks interior that the plastic on the center console passenger side kick panel that it was the bark brown in one spot and all the rest was the tan. I phoned another dealership, made an appointment with their service dept. They made note ordered the right color piece and replaced it without issue. So my main complaint is with Riverhead Dodge and Chrysler itself. If they end up with requiring another bail out, the government had best not assist them again and let them go under. I think a lesson in humility is exactly what they need so that whoever buys the company next can make some changes, both in the quality of the product and the quality of the customer service.

At 50000 miles I had a violent wobble that started at the right side of the vehicle, spreading to the left, then moved to the back of vehicle. This wobble shook all in the cab of the truck. I returned the vehicle to the dealership where it was purchased in April 2011. There was no problem found with the front of the vehicle, so the dealership contacted a local Chrysler dealership that had no knowledge of "known front end problems" but suggested it could be caused by a worn tire. This dealer rotated the tires, balanced, and did a front-end alignment, which was covered by an extended warranty I had purchased; yet no failed components were found. This death wobble (as shown on the net) continued and at the present time it is at a Chrysler dealership.
I have been contacted by the business stating they found no failed components, so the insurance will not cover any repairs; but the dealership feels it is the steering box linkage, which can be replaced at one thousand dollars (my cost) without a guarantee that it will fix the problem. Chrysler has known about the problem for years and has not come up with a solution to a poor design and will not assist in any repairs. The problem is covered in issue #74 of the "TDR" (Turbo Diesel Resource) where it talks about possible repairs and after-market business, such a Geno's Garage, where they are marketing a "BD steering box stabilizer" which they state “will eliminate the wobble.” I checked with the NTSB for complaints, only to be advised there have been no deaths reported caused by this wobble. Recently, the driver side bed paint started to blister and bubble. I can't figure how a vehicle that is well maintained would do this when only six (6) years old, but after extensive research, I have discovered most owners of 2002-up Ram trucks have the same problem.
I have been a trained body man for a few years and have never seen such a ridiculous thing. I filed a complaint with Chrysler. They told me that the truck was, "out of the warranted period". It is ridiculous considering a paint job on a $30,000 truck should last at least 10 years or more, and that they could do nothing. I know this is not a safety recall, but consumers pay for these vehicles; the manufacturers should stand behind their work, and be held fully responsible for their mistakes.
I love my truck, and I am currently going to get an estimate to get the bed repaired before it gets worse, but I believe since so many have this problem on newer trucks, Chrysler should fix this defect in their Ram trucks paint jobs. I own a 2004 Ford truck in the same condition as the Dodge. It sits outside in the weather, but it has no paint defects, and neither does my Chevy Silverado. Why did my niece get almost 30 miles to the gallon on her diesel with a load and an automatic while I get 9 miles to the gallon with a load and a manual shift? Did I get the shaft?

Purchased my 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel truck from them in April. When I picked the vehicle up, I noticed "drip" marks in the paint on the tailgate. The general manager told me that there would be no problem with them taking care of that for me. I also noted that the paint all together had severe orange peel throughout the vehicle. After having the vehicle for a month the sheet metal on both doors and both rear quarter panels are rippling. I have been to the dealership more than six times now trying to remedy these problems and am being told by the general manager that Chrysler itself will not fix these problems for me. The only thing they will fix is the tailgate.
The body shop manager has taken numerous pictures of the paint, ripples, and tailgate and sent them to Chrysler with them coming back stating that they don't see anything wrong with the truck. At this time, nobody in service or the body shop will give me any paperwork stating the many times I have been there to complain. They also will not give me any written explanation to why they will not repair the paint or the ripples in the truck. This is the 5th vehicle that I have bought from this dealership and currently have two 2011 rams in my driveway. I have been in contact with Chrysler itself to no avail, even my "case manager" from Chrysler stated to me that she was confused as to why they would not fix these problems.

My wife and I own two Dodge Rams. A 2003/4.7 and a 2005/5.7. Recently, the 03 lost oil pressure so I had a friend that is a mechanic trained by a Chevrolet dealer assist me in repairing my truck. We pulled the engine and took it apart to find that the oil pan was painted on the inside from the factory and the paint began to peel away plugging up the oil pickup causing the loss in oil pressure.
I have built many older cars and have never had a oil pan that was painted on the inside. I am worried now that our 05 ram will have the same issue. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why anyone would paint or use some type of coating on the inside of a oil pan. We have gone to great lengths to take very good care of our trucks and this truck has just under 90,000 miles on it.
The good thing out of all of this is that I use Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil along with Z-MAX and after inspection of the engine, it seems that the engine is fine. I personally took a wire wheel and got all of the paint out of the oil pan along with a new oil pump and pickup other new parts and am putting the engine back in soon.
I don't know how one might get compensated for this but it would be nice! The big question is how many people have had this issue and took there truck to be repaired just to be told that it was something else and paid a lot of money. Is their any way to find out about this issue and what if any that Dodge might do to fix this? How many other makes have coated oil pans?

After calling "roadside assistance", I was told that towing was covered and to have it towed to the nearest dealer which happened to be 45 miles away. It took a special investigator 5 weeks to make it over to the dealer to inspect the truck! The report he filed stated that all damage found was from impact. Well, duh, the dealer had replaced the tie rod. All the parts were there which he photographed. After 2 more weeks of calling, being shuffled around, I finally turned it in to my insurance.
It has been 3 months now since I turned in my paperwork to be reimbursed and I just received all the paperwork back because the date of the incident wasn't on it ($600). After having the truck back a week, I noticed a noise coming from the front end. My local mechanic said both my steering u-joints were done. The dealer replaced them under my service contract for another $100. Also the check engine light has been on more than it hasn't. O2 sensors were replaced, then replaced again (it's on right now). My 03 Dodge Ram 4x4 diesel, a 40,000 dollar truck, has axel joints that wore out at 70000 miles right when my warranty ran out. Even though both axel joints were worn, they only replaced one under my warranty. And after only 1000 miles, the other side was falling out. Bringing the truck back to the dealership, they charged $100 to replace the other axel joint. I consider that $100 the first foul on their part. 58,000 miles later, my front axel joints that the dealer replaced are again worn out. Should it be my responsibility to replace this at $400? This is not a simple repair but a major one. The axles need to be extracted and the joints pressed out in a shop. This is a heavy-duty 2500 Ram diesel and should not be unusable in only 60000 miles. It’s neither heavy duty or dependable. It’s whimpy and predictable.
At the dealer, they say Dodge knows the parts wear out in 60000 miles and they’re ok with that. It makes me very angry and I've lost my faith in the Chrysler Corporation. It's my opinion that they should have put in greasable and maintainable parts which they make but cost more (approximately $59) instead of using cheap ones with no grease fitting that only cost $9 when they replaced them at 70000 miles. So, they put in parts that don't last as long as the originals and wear out at 58000 miles. I would call that irresponsible! Can you help?

Then they called us back to say that there was sludge in the engine, so it wasn't covered under warranty. They didn't care if we had done oil changes or not!
Now they want to replace the engine for $7k. After doing just a few minutes of research on the internet, I can see that the 4.7 dodge engine (used in Dakota, Durango, Ram) has a huge history of oil sludge trouble, and Chrysler will not fix it under warranty. I have no doubt they have issued a warning to their service centers not to fix this problem, because they obviously know about it. Dodge told me that they could replace it for $4000 and they told me that those Tranny's are just not made to pull anything. Well, I pulled a motorcycle trailer maybe 4,000 lbs once or twice a year and that's it. I went ahead and replaced it with an after market tranny. Why spend 4k to get a tranny that fails at 48,000 miles. They say that the cummins is a 300K mile motor that means I should replace my tranny six times in the life of the motor and also while in the shop, I had them checkout the front end and found that I needed all four ball joints at $1500.

The issue is with the tie rod ends on my Dodge Ram 1500 with 40,450 miles on it, parts availability and price. I first went to AutoZone and got two tie rod ends which cost $82.27 for both and have a lifetime guarantee, I took them home and found they did not fit, so I returned them, hoping to get the correct set of tie rod ends. Unfortunately, AutoZone was unable to order the correct tie rod ends. Next, I went to Kragen, who also was unable to order the correct tie rod ends; they said it was "unavailable".
Next stop was Napa, who special ordered a pair of tie rod ends for $107.28 for both and a lifetime guarantee, but they turned out to be the wrong ones, also. Frustrated at being unable to find the correct parts, even though they were listed as such, I called Carson City Dodge, got a Mopar part number, and inquired as to how much they would charge for a set of tie rod ends. The answer was $193.45 each, approximately $400.00 for the pair, with no lifetime guarantee or anything!
I also have an extended warranty (70,000 mile) on my truck that cost a considerable sum of money. However, the typical parts I need are not covered, even though the warranty covers the complete chassis, drive train, and, well, virtually the whole truck, or so reads the warranty to a non-attorney layperson. But when Dodge runs the part numbers, they are not covered by warranty.
My questions are as follows: 1) what does the warranty actually cover? 2) Why do my old 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport tie rod ends only cost $36.26 each with a lifetime guarantee, and are available virtually anywhere, but my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport tie rod ends are $193.45 each (to buy a pair would be equal to one month's truck payment) with no warranty? In short, I would like to know exactly what the difference(s) is/are between a 1996 and a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 tie rod end. Is the 2006 model so significantly improved with titanium, gold, carbon, or some other rare metal that justifies the cost?
Rhetorical question, I am sure, as sadly I know there is probably no difference that would justify the cost for a tie rod with no warranty. I do understand that distributors have their own pricing. I also realize that in today's society, the consumer always gets messed over. I just cannot comprehend why I pay so much for a warranty and get nothing out of it, and I do understand that there is a ton of R&D goes into deciding what parts will last forever and what parts will fail the day you pull it off the lot.
But what I cannot understand is why this warranty would not and will not cover the consumable parts. This is the third Dodge I have owned, and have never had any problems with them until now. I think it is unfair and unreasonable that Dodge can charge so much for parts, and require consumers to spend so much money for a warranty that sounds good, but in reality covers nothing.
To add insult to injury, consumers are left with nowhere to order parts except from the Dodge dealership, which appears to be legalized extortion and monopolization. Why does Dodge make it so difficult for a regular person to work on their own vehicle? Why do prices vary so widely and wildly for the same part? It appears that Dodge has lost sight of where their money comes from, and is truly biting the hand that feeds it, that hand being the consumer's. A little respect goes a long way.
Conversely, taking advantage of the consumer will be duly noted, and the consumer will choose to take their business elsewhere. Why is it that the car companies make it so difficult to get parts or do not want to uphold the warranties on vehicles they sell and make it so the consumer has to take it back to the dealer for repairs and charge a hundred plus dollars an hour for shop fees and mark up the parts 1000%? Thank you.

I have recently replaced the transmission for the third time in my 1994 Dodge Ram 1500. I am now stranded again without a vehicle because the torque converter went out and took the whole transmission with it. I've been told every time that this transmission is notorious for dying. Well, why can't this problem be fixed by having a total recall of these transmissions? Dodge should be held responsible for knowingly putting a faulty transmission in a heavy duty truck. I don't know about anyone else, but I personally have spent over $6,000 in repairs.
I love my truck, but isn't there something that can be done? Dodge needs to be held liable for bad equipment. My truck runs, but I have no control of it because when I shift it into drive, the overwhelming amount of torque lunges it forward and my new brakes cannot stop it. If I am on a hill, I can stop but my rear tires begin to spin and smoke. So far the damage caused to the truck as far as engine and other transmission damage is unknown. The previous owner, whom I bought it from, had replaced the transmission twice. So in the life of my truck, it is on its 6th transmission replacement.

My 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 has failed me in the following ways: power window motor- warranty; serpentine belt tension bearing - warranty, $100 deductible; and ventilation directional control at $35 part, quoted $800 labor cost. I fixed it myself. This is apparently inherent with these trucks. They now tell owners not to change the directional control while the fan is on or it will break the cheesy little flap inside. It is still a problem with the new model year.
The Dodge death wobble – warranty; they replaced the steering stabilizer. It hasn't done it since. At 71,000 miles - hub bearing and hub U-joint, $580; front driveline U-joint, $500; and ball joints, $500. When I called Dodge and complained, they connected me to a "complaint resolution" department. I was told in no uncertain terms that they would not budge an inch on the basic 3-year, 36,000 mile warranty. I told them I was going back to Japanese products, and I was told to go right ahead. It is no wonder this company is in dire straits, they really don't give a damn about standing behind their products.
To remedy the ongoing steering and hub failures, I will be spending extra money on after market, heavy duty replacement parts. Needless to say, there is not a chance in hell of me purchasing another product from this company. My truck has a very easy life; it goes up and down the highway and is never off-roaded. It has never seen mud; the only time it is in 4-wheel drive is on snowy roads. These repairs have cost me around $2,000 for the repairs and the heavy-duty modifications with cost another $2,000.

The front driver's side door was open and my daughter was standing in front of it. As I lifted myself up on the tire to remove the trash bags from the bed of the truck, the truck started rolling backwards and pinned me between the garbage dumster and the bed of the truck.
Luckily I freed myself in enough time to push my daughter out of harms way or the front door would have pushed my daughter under the front wheel. I jumped in the truck, it still said it was in park when I put the brake on. I called Dodge who informed me that had I put the vehicle in park, set the emergency brake and removed the key, it would not have happened. After further research I learned their was a recall which the dodge representative did not tell me about. When the vehicle, although reads it is in park, will come out of gear and go into reverse. Dodge's solution to the problem is not to fix it, but install an alarm so you know that when it says it is in park, it is actually in reverse.

Since I have had the truck it has been in the repair shop an average of once every 5 weeks and has been nothing but a headache. AND MOSTLY FOR MAJOR REPAIRS!!!!
I have owned my Ram for 13 months and I wish I never bought it. Keeping in mind I bought the truck October 2003, here is a repair list:
1. 10/2003 = Cruise Control
the cruise control went out and vacuum hose needed to be replaced.
2.11/2003 = New wiring harness, battery, and starter coil.
The dealership sold me the vehicle without a battery hold down harness. The battery fell off the platform and onto the pulley wheels of the engine. Which, in turn, punched a hole in the battery and spewed battery acid all throughout the engine compartment. I then had to get a new wiring harness, and starter coil because of that.
3. 12/2003 = Transmission HUB
I was driving down the road to work one day and came to a red light. When the light turned green, I tried to accelarate and the truck just would not go. Just like if the trans was in Neutral...
4. 2/2004 = New power steering unit.
Took the truck in because I was getting odd vibrations and noises in the steering wheel...
5. 3/2004 = Engine Rebuild!!!!
Not more than 5 months after I had the truck, I had to have the cylinder heads replaced because they were BOTH cracked. (Foothill Ranch Dodge did repairs) Service changed the heads and the intake gasket.
6. 3/2004 = New Cat. Converter
Not more than a week after I got the truck back from #4, the truck went back for a busted Catalytic Converter.
7. 3-5/2004 = Fuel and brake line leaks
The truck went back again because the brake line on the left/rear brake drum came completely loose making it hazerdous to drive. Also, at the same time, the fuel line where it connects to the gas tank came loose spilling fuel. Once again, causing a real heavy hazard.
8. 9/2004 = Intake manifold gasket
The truck went into the shop again bacause the air intake gasket was busted. This time I took the vehicle to Goodyear/Hollywood Tire in Orange, Ca. and had them diagnose the problem. They advised me that the intake manifold gasket was put in wrong from service #5 (above). Nor the dealer or Daimler Chrysler was willing to help pay for the cost in getting me a rental car.
9. 10/2004 = Another Cylinder Head.
Truck went into the shop again because if a valve leak over the #1 cylinder. Goodyear in Orange said that this problem was related to #8.
10. Present = I just got the truck back from the #9 repair and now there are 3 more things wrong with it.
#A. The 4 wheel drive will not engage or work. The 4 wheel drive was fine before the #9 repairs were done.
#B. The AC/Heater will only come out of the windshield defrosting vents. (the vents by the VIN #)
#C. The rear differential is starting to make a humming sound every time I accelerate. Which means the rear differential is going to give out soon as well.
Chrysler has not been helpful at all with this. They would not even help me get a rental car.

I have been to the dealer several times about my engine light coming on and they did things like changing my gas cap. What recourse do I have? It seems that I got quick fixes until my warrenty ran out. Please reply with any suggestions.

I do garage door repair and this is my work truck. So far the repair has been covered under warranty, but how long will they continue fixing this at their own cost?

Is there anything you can do to help us? We've taken our truck to a number of places to have oil inserted in the rear end and front, it still squeaks.

I am also experiencing the same problem with my RAM truck that the owners of the Durango's are. In a nutshell, my oil pressure drops to zero, it goes to the shop, they say I'm not changing the oil(which I have documentation that I am) and I shell out a lot of money to have the same thing happen again and again. I bought my vehicle new in Feb.99 the first time this occured was on 04/12/01 they replaced oil seal, sending unit, and a switch. It cost me $563.01. Then the truck went back on 09/25/01 for the same problem. Dealer service said they were unable to confirm customer concern at this time and they changed the oil again.
One year later on 09/09/02 it happened again. Dealer replaced oil switch and sensor and changed the oil, it cost me 123.97. Because this was the 3rd time this happened with the truck and my warranty was out I purchased an extended warranty thinking I would probably need it. On 09/18/02 just a little over a week later the truck was back in at the dealers and they replaced the whole oil pump, pickup tube, and related gaskets. They had been doing my oil changes so they couldnt use that excuse this time and that extended warranty I had purchased the week before paid for all of it.
Now here it is almost a year to the date and today the same exact thing happened and I had just had an oil change 3 mos ago(approx 2400mi). When I pulled it into Goodyear and they checked the oil they said it looked like MUD! What is wrong with this engine to break down the oil this way and this fast??? My extended warranty will be out in about 3000 miles and I cant afford to do this out of pocket every year. I'm also curious as to what engine the Durango has in it that everyone is having this problem with?
