I have lived in several towns, had many insurers and vehicles in the last 20 years. I have also been a BWC member for almost 20 years. Why has Better World Club been one of the mainstays in my life when (clearly) other things have not? It's in their name: BETTER WORLD. Every interaction with this company has helped me feel better--more calm, safe, and cared for than before I made the call.
Recently, their excellent customer service professional Amanda helped to turn what could've been a very bad ending of an otherwise fun trip into a positive one, and one that restored my faith in humanity. The tow truck driver (Anton in Manassas, VA) was also a pure delight. I'm so sorry I don't recall the name of his tow company. I saw a sign yesterday that said:" You can be anything you want, so choose to be kind." And that ^^^ sums up how I feel about BWC: If I could write a love letter, I would. But since I'm not a romantic, I hope this review will suffice. ♡

I have minute to minute review but much too long for this post. Two last things number one I was in my driveway but I could have been on a back road in SC where you could go 5-10 mi before a house. I’ve been a member since 2012. This used to be a great resource for my e-bikes as a mobile notary public. Years later, after rarely needing to summon for tows due to my 2 newer e-bikes, they changed their policies, which I wasn’t notified of after their rates went up from $35 to $56 a year. Today, this resource was denied of my simply asking for my ebike to be towed 2 miles to my home that had just had its front tire stolen. I was only in the store 15 minutes!
I called Barbara, who took down my info and never called me back. The Better World Club couldn’t handle a simple request, claiming I’m not allowed to deliver the bike to my home. I’d have to pay a 3rd part who would charge more. What kind of stupidity is that? I used to pay $35 a year for two bike tows if needed! They didn’t fulfill their mission of a 66-year-old business owner needs. They just ignored me! I had to lift the heavy Velotric ebike and get it to my office garage myself. I just turned 66 a few days ago.

When I first started out with a better world every seem to be going good. This time around everything has went down hill and it's been a nightmare. From customer service, to getting my membership card and not being able to get roadside assistance due to them putting in the wrong information. One thing for sure I will never come back to them after this membership is up!! I am going to another roadside assistance company and will be sure to look at the reviews and do my research before joining any roadside assistance club. I have been given the run around about my membership cards and still haven't received them. This is horrible, but the bright side I will not have to deal with them again once my membership is up!! I'm looking forward to it!! Yessss!!

I have been a BWC member for around 15 years. I moved to them from AAA because they had friendly people answering phones, provided great service and were a breath of fresh air. I called for service a few days ago, probably the first time in 7 years or so, and at first I thought I had dialed the wrong number. The woman who answered the phone had a ho-hum attitude like "how dare you interupt my busy schedule for help." All I needed was a jump start. She later verbally admonished me for my language and threatened to hang up on me twice."
Maybe I could understand if I was abusive or cussing like a sailor but this was not the case at all. I just didn't expect to be talking to Mary Poppins for a service call! When I gave her my location she said she couldn't send anyone without an address. So I had to walk down the street in the pouring rain to find a house with a number on it. I thought what if I was in a rural area, would I need to walk 10 miles to provide an address? This was all bull poo-poo (please forgive my language). I was finally able to start my car and my wife called to cancel the help and the guy who answered didn't even know how to do that! I'm still in shock of this despicable customer service. This is not the company it used to be.
I consider this an omen as my membership is up for renewal. Frankly if someone put a gun to my head right now and say renew your policy or I'll shoot, I would say say pull the trigger now, please! BWC was once a wonderful company, but all the reasons I joined them are now gone. I used to recommend to all my friends but now I'll start a new religion trying to convince everyone to avoid BWC. If you could do worse than BWC, I really don't know how.

We've been members for several years and used our benefit for the first time this week. I really hoped for a good experience but was incredibly disappointed. I called for a tow truck to transport my car to the dealership. I'd had a flat tire, and my car didn't come with a spare. I called at 9:25AM and then, as prompted, placed my request via text. I was told I would hear back from the towing company within 15-20 minutes. I didn't, so I called Better World. They said the tow truck would arrive by 11:39AM. It didn't. I called back, and they said they would look into it. They replied that the tow truck driver was en route and 7 miles from where I was.
By 12:25PM, nobody had called nor arrived. I called again and said it was unacceptable. The person who took my call said the company said they would arrive in an hour or they could call another company. I was irate. Better World insisted it was the towing company's fault, not theirs. I asked to speak to a supervisor and said I was very angry about being told it would be another hour's wait or, alternatively, they'd contact another company. The supervisor said that's not what I was told, essentially denying the conversation I'd just had with the representative. They said they would order a new company and cancel the old one. Instead, at about 2:20PM, both companies' trucks arrived! It took a bit longer to get it sorted out since one company had to be canceled first before my car was finally on its way to get a new tire. Very, very disappointed from beginning to end--no apology nor accountability from Better World.

The only good thing I can say is that they answer their phones. They will dispatch you to unreliable companies. These unreliable companies will cancel your call, without letting you know, and without letting them know. You will be forced to wait several hours before you discover what has happened. No one at Better World will follow up with the call or with the service. Zero accountability.

I've been a Better World Club member for seven years, and am canceling my membership now. Two weeks ago, I got a flat tire and because I didn't have a jack with me, had to call BWC for assistance. I had to wait eight hours before somebody finally showed up. This had nothing to do with the actual repair provider, and everything to do with BWC's dispatching.
8:15 PM - I initially called for help, and after waiting on hold for half an hour, was told I would receive a text message shortly with a tracking link. 9:15 PM - Not having received the text, I called for the second time and was put on hold for another half an hour, at which point I was disconnected. 9:50 PM - I called for the third time and after waiting on hold for 40 minutes, talked to an agent who told me there was no record of my initial call. I had to provide all my information again. 10:40 PM - I called for the fourth time and was also asked to provide all my information again. At one point, I was transferred to State Farm, and my call was answered by a rep who had no idea what Better World Club was and told me she couldn't help me.
11:25 PM - After four phone calls and a total of two hours on hold, I finally received the text with the tracking link for the repair provider, three hours after my initial call. The ETA showed as 12:25 AM. 12:25 AM - At exactly the ETA, the repair provider called me and told me they wouldn't be coming, with no explanation. I then received a text from Better World Club saying that the provider was unable to find me and my call for assistance would be automatically canceled.
12:45 AM - I finally got through after spending 20 minutes on hold (this was my fifth phone call to BWC) and spoke to an agent who told me I would be receiving a text with a tracking link, but she couldn't tell me when. 1:15 AM - Not having received the text, I called BWC for the sixth time and spoke to an agent who told me she had no idea whether anyone was ever dispatched to help me and she would have to "erase everything" and restart the call. I had to provide all my information for at least the third time. 3:15 AM - Two hours after the agent supposedly restarted the call, I received the second text with a tracking link for a new provider. 4:15 AM - The repair provider finally arrived.
An eight-hour wait time for roadside assistance is unacceptable. At various points, agents told me that things were very busy due to the gas shortage, which didn't make sense since the West Coast wasn't affected by the shortage. Better World Club seemed to have no system for logging phone calls, since each agent I subsequently talked to seemed to have no idea what was discussed in previous calls. Unless you want to wait all night for assistance, I suggest you join a different company that doesn't simply "lose" requests for help.

I have had to call for roadside assistance several times and always had a negative experience. Agents often have poor English language skills and impenetrable accents, and/or are rude and abrasive, and keep interrupting you while you are trying to explain your situation. This morning was the worst. I had to call 4 times because I kept getting put on hold and after a lengthy wait, the call was disconnected. Each agent I had to deal with was ruder, less helpful and less professional than the last until I finally got a lady who was willing to help me instead of robotically reading a script and snapping at me. I ended up spending over 3 hours on the side of a busy freeway. Horrible experience, and unacceptable to leave a customer in a dangerous situation for so long. I joined BWC because of their green credentials but I may have to go back to AAA.

I had both Better World/AAA Memberships with their premium upgraded memberships. I let the AAA membership expire as I was disappointed in their declining customer service. With AAA, I was a member with them since the early 1990’s and with Better World for a single year. With Better World, they utilize a third party vendor to handle roadside & emergency calls. If there is a discrepancy in terms of your coverage, then the third party vendor contacts Better World’s Customer service to clarify your membership benefits. Problem is Better World’s customer service hours are 830am-530pm Monday through Friday.
So, if you have an emergency outside Customer Services’ hours, you could be in dire straits for help if there is a question regarding your coverage and the service provider plans on charging you for help. For example, if there is an issue of towing coverage, you have to put the money upfront which could mean several hundred dollars if you are towing more than 30 miles. Then, once you are able to contact Better Worlds’ customer service, and if you are fortunate enough to verify coverage and get compensated, you have to fill out paperwork with the original receipt and either mail it or scan and email it. They say it takes 4-6 weeks to get reimbursed. Simple calls like running out of gas can get similarly complicated in terms of filling out paperwork. It’s so bad with reimbursement, that if you call their customer service telephone line, they have an option to select it as a choice in their menu selection.
Who wants to be filling out paperwork? Ask yourself, did you ever fill out paperwork to get a service covered with AAA? So, with Better World, it’s a hit and miss whether they will honor your service call. It could mean that you may end up haggling with the tow guy, the service personnel who comes to change your flat tire, fill up your gas tank, etc. Better World is still building up its database of clients. Hopefully, it will get better over time. I am a physician and can afford several hundred dollars’ worth of towing costs, but not the aggravation of filling out paperwork. Ask yourself, can you afford to put that kind of money upfront?

When I had BWC, I used them twice; one for a disabled battery when the car was in my driveway; the second time was when I got stuck, off the road, in an unfamiliar area. The calls to them when I got stuck were ridiculous. I had to call 3 times before a truck was seen. Today, I mulled over joining then again, but they offer no advantage over triple A. I was specifically looking for discount auto repair, an oil change but the rep said that they offer none. AAA does offer discounts at Goodyear, but the GY shops, where I like are terrible. I'm better off searching for coupons for an oil change, tires, or the like. The BWC rep offered me no incentive to join them.

I was unhappy with what AAA did when I was in a minor fender bender and Better World is more environmentally friendly so, I decided to go with them. I bought the premium package which goes up to a hundred miles and last fall, when I was out in the Sierras which was 108 miles from Sacramento, our van broke down. I called Better World to file the claim and gave them the information. I arranged to have them pick it up the next morning so we didn’t have to just sit there and wait during the fall colors. And the next day, it was picked up. We only had to pay for eight miles worth so it all worked well. We were pretty happy and I love the fact that they also cover bicycles. I would highly recommend them and encourage them to support a green business because like ourselves since my husband and I are conservation photographers.

Better World Club was an alternative to AAA. Their enrollment process was easy and we have the premium package for two people. Then about five years ago, I had a car wreck and Better World Club towed me. We recently used the land map service a couple of times on a whim and everybody is very courteous and quick. Better World Club has a very nice group and they are pleasant whenever I contact one. I’ve been with AAA for a long time and I love their maps, but I didn’t like that they promoted burning fossil fuels. When I heard about Better World, we switched to them six years ago and had our cars insured for road service. Their enrolment process was easy. Then when we had to have a car towed 16 miles to the next town, we just called Better World and they called the tow truck and it got done. We mostly do our transactions online and I had very little interaction with Better World's reps but when I talked to somebody about coverages, it got done and it was taken care of.
The cost seems high but mostly because we haven’t had to use it much. It seems expensive if I look at getting a no charge tow for 16 miles in five years of being part of it. But then, it’s insurance and the idea is that we’re paying a lot of money and never get anything back but we don’t worry. It's fair-based and when I looked at insurances as a whole, it’s a horrible industry because it feeds and lives on our fear but Better World is not doing that. Better World is something we chose to have because my wife commutes under 30 miles round-trip two days a week to another, bigger town, where she works three days a week. And it’s important that she has coverage if something occurs, she can’t get the car started on the way home and if I have to drive 66 miles to jumpstart the car. It makes the cost of Better World a little easier.
In addition, I really appreciate that Better World now has maps which I will get and they are also aware of caring for the environment and the world. I have two pretty new great-grandsons and I’m afraid they’re not gonna have a future, so any company that does something to promote dealing with climate change and environmental things is good.

I got towed one time and I told the company, Organic Transit, which was the ones who sold me the bike and they got in touch with Better World Club and arranged everything. They sent a tow truck out on the bicycle and towed me back to where my home was because I had a flat tire. I was able to fix the tire myself when I got home because I had all the equipment but I couldn't do it on the road. I only had that one transaction with them and I felt like it's worth having them in my back pocket just in case because I didn't know if a regular tow company would take care of a bicycle. Maybe AAA might do that but they're not used to a bicycle and Better World Club specializes in them.
I had an invoice from Better World Club which was for the dues and it had been a couple of years since I have done anything with them. I got a hold of them and let them know that it's a dreck and I'd be paying it from now on. They said it was fine but since it was past due, they wanted to charge me another $10, which I didn't have a big problem with. They already have me on file so I just paid the dues at that point. Better World Club took care of me before but I gotta think about how much they charged. It could be a little excessive for a bicycle. The rate seemed just as a high as an automobile club and it is possible that the automobile club would take care of my bicycle the same way.

After having BWC for several years I finally had to use it (twice) recently. For both instances, I was at home and needed my car to be jumped. On the first occasion I was given a 90 minute ETA. After 2 hours I finally called back and they told me they had sent someone to my house but then had not been able to reach me. I had spent the past 45 minutes with my phone, waiting outside for them, so I am certain they never came, nor did anyone try to contact me. They apologized and told me they'd send someone else. For this one I was given a 1 hour ETA. After 90 minutes they finally arrived. I had a good experience with them, although they did end up breaking my windshield wiper in the process of trying to fix it.
The 2nd time I called was about 2 weeks later, and I had the same issue and needed my car to be jumped. I was first given a 75 minute ETA and after that amount of time I called to check in. They told me it would be another half an hour. Another half hour goes by and so I call again. At this point they say it'll be another 30 minutes. 45 minutes later they finally arrived. I had a good experience with them. Although the actual experience with getting my car jumped twice was fine, the wait times were outrageous. Had I been stranded on the side of the road, waiting for several hours would have been completely unacceptable. As it was, I was at home and the wait time was still entirely not okay.
