Allstate Extended Warranty Reviews

As a service advisor at a busy dealership, I deal with extended warranty companies every day. From an operational standpoint, my experience with Allstate’s vehicle protection plan has become increasingly frustrating. I understand that most third-party warranty companies do not pay our full labor rate — that’s fairly standard in the industry. In the past, that wasn’t a major issue because their claims customer service was responsive and relatively easy to work with. Unfortunately, that has changed.

(*Zero stars was not an option) In March 2025, I purchased a 2016 Subaru Forester plus an extended warranty to cover the engine & transmission. The extended warranty is contracted with Allstate. Three months after purchasing the vehicle, I started to notice excessive oil consumption. The low oil light illuminated twice before my first 5K oil change. A local Subaru dealer performed an oil consumption test and the car failed. They submitted a claim for the repair and Allstate has denied the claim stating they will not apply the manufacturer’s standards for oil consumption and will be applying “industry standards”. NO such language is stated in my warranty contract. Why would a manufacturer’s standards be so easily disregarded?

Horrible!! We bought an extended warranty through them for our refrigerator. We have had nothing but problems. They sent people out, but didn’t send parts out. We’ve had technicians come out and say that our fridge is a lemon because we’ve had to have them out seven times and Allstate will do nothing. We are on a month and a half now of our fridge not working and our extended warranty, not helping with anything.

Worthless warranty. Denies all claims as says the dealer that sold the car is responsible not them for any fixes. What point is a warranty if it covers nothing? Never will I do business with them again!

It’s a waste of time. They don’t have a good team to respond quick. Also they don’t like to pay to the shop you bring. They wants to dictate the price. They like to put price on the work labor in the shop and parts Toyota, Honda, etc. Don’t like this type of warranties. I regret purchase one contract but thank God I open my eyes before too late and cancel this. People love to hang the phone on you and been rude.

I bought a 43" TV and filed a claim a few months after I bought it and was told contact the manufacturer. When I did Phillips told me they would send me a refurbished tv. I then called Allstate and was told wait until one year mark. Today I called and was told they would send me a comparable, but the agent was bothered by my call altogether. He even said you paid $36.00 for warranty meaning what do I expect. I was also told that I would get a replacement and my warranty would be over. Seems if you buy a 2-year warranty it should be 2 years. I will never purchase another warranty. Now I have to get rid of the old one and spent 4 hours on the phone between Phillips and Allstate. Not worth the purchase.

I purchased a 2017 convertible VW bug eight years ago. We purchased an extended car warranty also and we’re told that it would kick in after the three year manufacturer's warranty, I remember feeling good that we had a long time before we had to worry about expensive repairs. There was a $50 co-pay. The warranty was for 96 months or 85,000 miles whichever came first. Yesterday my convertible roof would not close and affected the windows also and they wouldn’t go up. I took it to the dealership. I told my warranty was over in January, which would’ve been 96 months from date of purchase. I told them I was told that the warranty would kick in after the manufacturer's warranty of three years, they said, "No. It starts the day you buy the car." Well that would be redundant to have manufacturer's warranty and extended care warranty at the same time. It doesn’t make sense. We wouldn’t have purchased it then if that were true.

We recently bought a house, and the previous owners told us the refrigerator was brand new and came with a transferable extended warranty through Allstate (purchased via Costco). Thinking we were covered, I called the number provided to confirm the warranty transfer. At first, I was told “absolutely, yes” — it was transferable. Great, right? Wrong.

Purchased an extended warranty through them. Warranty expired while in the shop, now they won’t cover it. Motorhome had been in the shop for a year before warranty expired and hasn’t left. They refuse to help at all. I even asked if I could purchase a new warranty.

The T.V. we have the warranty on went out on Dec.26. We did all the things asked of us to show that is was not working. Claim was filed and we were told that a replacement was not available. We looked online at several places and could see that was not a true statement. We told them we would go buy a T.V. and they could send us a check for what the original T.V. would be worth. No that could not happen. They finally did send an email that they have one and it will be shipped to us. Although they have no information to give you about tracking it. This is after several emails (7) to them and numerous phone calls. They gave us a number to call about delivery. Again several phone calls and being on hold for long amounts of time.
