Big O - Tire Quality

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I first went into Big O Tires for wheel alignment. I had to get them to redo it 4 times. At first they almost called me a liar, but when I convinced someone to ride with me they finally realized I was right. However, the truck still moves to the right and the steering wheel is not straight. After a few hours, I just left. Now I purchased a lifetime insurance at their insistence. I took my truck back in because my two left tires have cracks. They will not honor their insurance because they believe it was vandalism. They are cracks.

I spoke to so many people in the corporate office and they will not honor it because they took the word of the store manager. They want to offer one tire free but I have 2 bad tires. Why can't they stand by their products? I would like Big O to stand by the coverage.

I purchased my tires on 5-8-01, mileage at 85542 and now at 106009 mileage -- only 20,467 put on these tires. The tires are 185/70r14 Kuhmo tires and I paid $188.30. My complaint is that ever since I got these tires my car has shimmied at 35-45 miles per hour. I took my car in several times and they said there was nothing wrong with the tires so I took my car to Kirby Auto to have them check and thay informed me that the tires were out of round.

I want back to Big O Tires and talked to the manager again. And again was told thay were fine. I am very disappointed in the service I received there and will not go back again.

I purchased a set of Big O tires. They said these were the best -- $225.00 ea -- they have a 50,000-mile warranty. They were always out of balaunce and rode roughly. Only lasted 20,000 miles, rubber cracks and tire checks everywhere. I have been stranded because of popped tires. These cheap Chinese-made tires are scary.

I bought a Ford F-250 Super Duty and added Big ) tires and rims. Within one week I noticed a large vibration. The Ford dealer checked my tires and told me they did not pass the "Road Force" guidelines set by DOT.
They were replaced by the Big O dealer without question. 2,500 miles later another tire was replaced. I now find that I am having the same type of symptoms. The tires do not wear round, take an excessive amount of weight, shudder from a dead start, hop at 45 to 48 miles per hour, shake at 55-63 and 71-75.

Upon getting my truck back from the last rebalance, I was told by the Big O tech that my driver's front was "as close as I could get and if it shakes real bad the only choice is to move it to the opposite rear corner."

Purchased a set of Remington tires from the establishment, one of them popped because of a defective spot in the sidewall 30 days after purchase. When I took the tire back in, Mr. Khadivi asked me if I had purchased a warranty, I said no. He diagnosed the tire first without taking it off of the rim saying we must have hit something. I pointed out the very thin section of tire that would be a defect from a mold and that there were no exterior signs of striking an object just a thin spot. He instructed an employee, Burt, to take it off of the rim. After they conversed in the garage they both said we must have hit something and they would not take it back.

I went next door to a Discount tire store and the salesman was ready to replace it free of charge as a defective tire until I told them I didn't purchase it there. They suggested sending it in to the manufacturer.

The replacement tire was around 80.00 and required me to miss a day of work as Discount had to order the tire. If I send the tire to the manufacturer for replacement I will have to pay for the shipping.

I purchased 4 new tires, with balancing. Two weeks later my left rear tire blew out at the sidewall. Big O replaced tire. I had them do new shocks as well. Since then I have had to have balancing three times and front alignment twice, my front tires kept wearing out on outer side.

The last time I was there they took my front tires off and replaced them with my rear tires which were in excelent condition. They refuse to replace the bad tires they sold me. What can I do? Louis said that they would only replace them due to road hazard, such as a flat. I am driving on unsafe tires due to this company.
