Target - Pricing Disputes

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I was shopping for my son's birthday and found a toy fire truck with a clearance tag on it for $7.98, and when I went to pay for the item, the cashier tried to remove the label and charge me $37.00. I stopped him and asked for the manager, and the manager never came, only another cashier who also tried to remove the label. They would not let me purchase the toy, and a manager never came out to talk to me. I took a picture of the item and the price tag before I let them remove the tag.

I wanted to purchase a sweater on a table that was priced $19.99-$22.99. The sweater rang up $24.99 at POS. The clerk had to repeatedly call for softlines to check the price. I finally had to go and help 2 clerks find the sweater; they proceeded to look around as if I had taken the sweater from a different table and were questioning the price. I left without purchasing the sweater. I felt it was very poor customer service for me to not only have to go help the clerks, but also for them to argue with me about their obvious issue with the pricing. It was completely not acceptable.

In trying to purchase a Hoover vacuum cleaner, Tampa Target on Gandy blvd posted a red tag price of $132.05 down from its price of $139.00. During check out, I was not honored the price because I was told I needed to sign up for a red tag card that was linked to my checking account. The sale tag just said "Today's Red Tag Special $132.05." The manager, ** also would not help me in getting a complaint form but indicated to go to the front area for a complaint. I called 1 800 440 0680 and only got a person saying they would note that I have a complaint but didn't even want my contact information as to end the complaint.

Internet advertised wrong price - I am a longtime customer of Target. I have been shopping at Target for most of my household needs. I shop at Target for back-to-school clothing, bikes, housewares and even my prescriptions. I visit Targets in Philadelphia and New Jersey several times a week and purchase at least 100 dollars or more monthly. I attempted to purchase several sale items on Target online. After my interaction with the telephone staff and not honoring the internet price yesterday, I may never return. I will take my business to Walmart.

I am a long-time loyal customer of Target. I have been shopping at Target almost exclusively for all of my household needs for as long as I can remember. I shop at Target for toiletries, clothing, housewares and even my groceries. I visit my local Target two to three times a week and purchase an average of $40 or more each visit. I spend on average over $5,000 a year at Target. After my interaction with the manager today though, I may never return.

I was checking out with an order of around $50 worth of items. I had one $2 off manufacturer's coupon for Land-O-Lakes butter. The butter was on sale for $1.99. The cashier called over the manager because she did not know what to do. The manager, Nick **, looked at the coupon and the butter and then said, "I'm sorry, we can't take this coupon. The coupon is for $2 off and the item only costs $1.99." I told him I was fine with him just taking $1.99 off the total. He replied "No. You cannot use your coupon because the item is on sale." I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to because I believe they had to honor my manufacturer's coupon. Nick ** stated that he was the only one in the store with any authority and repeated that he would not accept my coupon. He then said, "If you have a problem with it, call our corporate office." Therefore, I decided to call the corporate office from my cell phone while in the checkout line. Unfortunately, I was on hold for 20 minutes with the corporate office. After waiting on hold for so long, I hung up the phone. I then left the store without purchasing any of my items because I was so furious at not only the refusal to take my coupon, but the rude manager that had zero customer service skills.

I would like Target to better train their staff on standard coupon policies and basic customer service. If a customer is presenting a valid manufacturer's coupon for an item that they are purchasing, there should be no issue accepting the coupon. I would also like this particular manager to offer me a formal apology and be required to go through some extensive customer service training. This manager kept me in line arguing with him over a penny for over 30 minutes. Even if I was wrong, which I don't believe I was, most managers at any other store would accept the coupon to make the customer happy, especially since the store will no doubt be able to get reimbursed for the coupon. That is just plain good customer service.

Target Has Items with Wrong Tags: We went to our Target to purchase those wicker baskets for a desk/shelving unit we made. They had these DVD baskets that we got, along with 8 other types of baskets. After we checked out, I thought the price didn't seem right. So, going through the receipt and unloading the cart, I noticed that 3 out of the 4 DVD bins had a different tag on them, making them about $15 more expensive than the actual cost. So we walked back inside to explain what we found out. They gave us the money back in a gift card since refunds can only be done after a 24-hour period when using a credit card, but while the kid was doing the gift card, he told the other girl who walked up about what happened and she laughed stating, "That's not the first I've seen that!" You have got to be kidding me. I wonder how many other people have been ripped off by Target like that. I will seriously think twice about shopping here. And if I do, I'm making a list of all the prices of items I put in my basket because I have lost all faith in this store.

I was at the Target in Wadsworth, Ohio on a Thursday and bought a pair of maternity jeans off the clearance rack for $10.48. When I went to Medina, Ohio target that next day, Friday, they had the same jeans on the clearance for $17.48 there. I asked if they could match the price, which I had my receipt for and I was told no! Neither the supervisor named Beth nor the customer representative Eddie I spoke to on the phone would help. They said it is not their policy to price match from one Target to the next. That is a really bad policy, even Walmart would match another company and I was not even asking for that. I will have a hard time shopping at your stores again.

Bought Target brand Lemon Scent furniture polish which was advertised as ''compare to pledge". Cannot use it as it does not have a "lemon" scent but smells like an insecticide. Went to Target website to complain directly but no where on the site, is any information on how to contact them via email. Plenty of helpful hints but no contact form. I guess they don't want to be bothered with negative feedback.

Target grocery section does not provide unit pricing on anything. Yet, other grocery stores are required by VA law to do so. It is really difficult to determine the least expensive item when unit pricing is not displayed.

I picked up a couple of toys for grandchild. One scanned correctly and the other scanned at a higher price than the marked down price on the shelf. When I objected, a person was sent back to check the price. They called back stating that the higher price was correct. The difference was only a few dollars so I went on and paid the higher price. After taking the package to the store, I returned to check for myself. The yellow mark down tag had been removed and the higher price tag was only left with no items on the shelf. The fact that the store would go through the trouble to falsify the price for a few dollars and risk bad customer relations is a mystery to me. I will not shop there again. I have trouble with a company that lies to me.

The Target on Ford Rd. and Greenfield in Dearborn, MI does not honor the Michigan Scanner's Law. I have been overcharged on several different occasions, and at certain times I was given the Scanner's Law money. Other times, I was not because the customer service dept. said that they don't have to give you the Scanner's Law money if a price tag is not on the item. This is inaccurate and illegal. I called the Consumer Protection Division of the Michigan Attorney General and I was told that the law states they don't have to put a price tag on every item in the store. Nothing about this excludes them from paying you Scanner's Law money if they overcharge you. I filed a complaint against Target and will see what happens.

False advertising practices are deceptive advertising practices. I saw an ad in Sunday's paper that a 32" flat screen TV is for only $197. Target had advertised it in their weekly advertisement. This ad is good for one week. I went to the store on Sunday. An employee told me that the manager, his friends and family had gotten the only 15 TVs they received and to check back today, Monday, November 7, they were scheduled to get their shipment. I went back when I got out of school today, driving a total of more than 90 miles. When I got there today, the boy working in the electronics department told me that they only got one or two and that was this morning. I asked him if I could have a rain check or when they would get their shipment.

He said that he wasn't scheduled to get any to fill the advertised item and there was no replacement. He said that they would be doing this on Black Friday. However, a week isn't a few hours. This is a deceptive practice which took more than two hours of my precious time and cost me 90 miles which is equivalent to almost $50 in driving my vehicle per government standards. I want to know when our government is going to stop this deceptive practice. Now would be a great time! In Europe, they won't even let American companies advertise that and do deceptive practices or alter photos. When are we going to lay down the law?

My husband and I went to a Target Store in Superior to get some toilet paper and Kleenex. I saw a XHIL Sweater on the 75% sale rack with a sale sticker of $4.99 reduced from $19.99. I checked other sweaters on the same sale rack with slightly different style and all have the same sale price. I gave the sweater to my husband and told him that I would meet him at the check out area and had gone to the restroom.

After we got home, I tried on the sweater and was happy with it. But when I was ready to remove the garment tag, I saw that the sale sticker was gone and only showed the original price. I checked the receipt and we got charged for the full price.

We went to Boulder two days later, and I returned the sweater to the Target Store there. The sales clerk asked what's wrong. I said I got charged full price for a sale item and the strange thing was the sale sticker was gone from the garment tag. She said okay and issued a refund back to my account without any apology and as if she heard the similar story before. So that night, I Googled "Target charges full price for sale items". Wow, I was not the only person who got scammed!

Again, as many of the previous posts, the store overpriced an item and the heavy set manager was very slow to verify that I was correct. Then, he couldn't figure out how to correct the problem and had to ask. An extra 15 minutes that I didn't have because they mispriced the item. I'm planning to post on Planet Feedback and encourage all others to do as well!

I purchase an item that was on sale for $32.99. It rang up at $35.99, but I didn't realize it until I looked at the receipt. I asked that I be credited the difference on my Visa. They refused to give me a credit or refund since it had not been 24 hours since I purchased it. I was told that I would have to bring the receipt and the item back in after 24 hours to get the sale price. They blamed the Visa policy.

My husband and I needed a digital camera on short notice. We went to our nearest Target store on State Rd. 7 and Lantana Rd. in Lake Worth, FL. There were 2 different cameras, which would have served our purpose. Both cameras were with large signs announcing special pricing of $99.95. We chose one camera first. And when we tried to purchase it, we were told that the store was out of stock. We tried to purchase the second one, only to be told that it too was out of stock. The manager checked her computer and suggested that we go to a Target store less than 5 miles away. It was because they had seven cameras of the type we wanted in stock. We did so. When we arrived at the Boynton Beach store, we found the camera, but the price was $119.99. The manager refused to sell us the camera at the sale price. If the first store didn't have the camera, it seems to me that the second store should have honored the sale price from the first store. We are finished with Target. And we will never shop there again. By the way, the customer service in the corporate office was completely unhelpful. They told me that it's their policy and that's that!

I was charged full price on items that were clearly on sale. I double checked, read the sign, matched the UPC, but when I got home I noticed that I was charged the regular price on 2 items. I am on a budget and I spent more than I wanted, but didn't realize it at the time. It seems like they do that to get people to buy, I am starting to hate Target & their overpriced items!

I just returned from Target and I'm very disappointed. Before I left to go shopping, I remembered that Target has a big sign, as you enter the store, which states that they will honor any sale from a competing store. I took the flyer for Publics for the "Buy two twelve packs of Pepsi and get two free."

The cashier told me she could not do those types of transactions and I would have to go to the service desk. I should have known then, but I went to the service desk anyway. There were two clerks and there was a rather large line. After waiting almost fifteen minutes and telling myself I would never do this again, I arrived at the counter.

I told the clerk it was my first time and showed her the ad and stacked the Pepsi on the counter. She told me I was going to be angry because they do not accept any "buy some and get some free" coupons. I told her not only was I a tad upset but what they were doing was against the law because nowhere does it say anything about that fact.

There was a shift manager there and she said they could do nothing for me so I left the Pepsi on the counter and left the store. There was a line of people and I really didn't want to get any angrier than I already was.

I really like Target and to be able to get things on sale there and not having to go to two different stores would have been wonderful. I do believe that Target should look into the truth in advertising laws before someone sues them.

I had purchased a hoover wind tunnel vacuum on 8/12/11 for $116.10, which was 10% off the retail price of $129 due to a damaged opened box.

On 8/14/11, the same vacuum went on sale for $99. I was told to just bring in the receipt for an adjustment. Barbara at Bayshore store customer service adjusted the price from 116.10 to 99; however, I then asked if I could still have 10% off for the damaged open box. She proceeded to assist me but the computer needed a supervisor's approval.

So I went through Linda, then Sara, as supervisors, to a manager named Travis. They all proceeded to tell me I got the 10% and now was looking for 20%. I said how do you figure, I did not get a price adjustment on $129 to $99, I got an adjustment from 116.10 to $99, but if I returned it and got my money back and then went to the main register and box was damaged and opened, the clerk would give me 10% off so I would like 10% off now from 99, which is an additional $9.90. It should make the price adjustment from 116.10 to $89.10. Otherwise, I technically lose the 10% discount on this item. To no avail. Not one of these supervisors or managers understood or wanted to understand. They just could not conceive the math, which is pretty scary to think this is what is running the store!

Needless to say, I then proceeded to contact corporate offices, spoke to a Sara first, who had to give me to a supervisor because still no one wanted to give me this 10%, stating I received it. So now, Dan gets on the phone, who is a supervisor in corporate office and still same final outcome.

I guess their policy is: store is always right, not the customer!

I purchased a backpack that was on sale for $9.99. When I checked out, it rang up at $24.99. I thought well, maybe it was a stray and continued to checkout. Then I thought about it and went to double check.

The entire rack was full of this same backpack with a red sale sign for $9.99. I took a picture with my phone and showed the cashier. He called the supervisor, who offered me a 10% discount off the $24.99 I paid. I explained to her it was not just one backpack out of place, but rather the entire collection had this sale sign on it.

She went back to check and agreed but could only offer me 10% off the $24.99 because the$9.99 was an error. I declined the discount and asked to speak with someone else. Another supervisor came over, went and looked then said, "Yes, the sign is there but I can only offer you a 10% discount." I declined and asked for the general manager.

The general manager, Pamela, would not speak to me. But advised the supervisor to tell me the 10% was all they would offer me. So I asked for the corporate phone number and then I was good enough for the general manager to come and speak with.

But again the general manager tells me the same thing, 10% off $24.99 would be all she had the power to offer me. I declined and called the corporate office. The corporate guest relations advised me they "empowered" the general manger to make decisions. Really? She told me she wasn't able to help me beyond the 10% discount.

Bottom line is they did nothing but document the complaint. I have a picture with the red sale sign clear as day $9.99, but was charged $24.99. Not happy!

I purchased items at store: receipt no. 1195-2239-0077-4284-3 vcd#708-252-842. They charged wrong price, again. Charging the wrong price happens about one in three or four times--if I catch them all. I went to customer service, got exchange of pricing, but not the tax return. And I still don't know what the charge for "ruffies" $4.14. I didn't get that return. I noticed it when I got home.

Refund # **. I am getting tired of these overcharges, having to stand in line again.

I went into the store on Friday, 6/24/11, to pick up some medicine and also a pair of rain boots. I checked out and everything was okay. I looked at my bank statement today, 6/27/11, and saw I was charged on the 24th and again on the 27th. When I called the store, they said, "Oh well, you have to call the guest relations department," and gave me the number. So I called them and once again explained my situation. The young lady placed me on hold for 10 minutes and came back and said, "You have to submit a written complaint before we can return your money."

I've been accidentally double charged in the past from stores and the place I work at has the same policy as the places in the past I've dealt with. Our process can be handled right over the phone, I don't understand why I have to go through the work of contacting my bank and submitting a written request. It almost seems like they don't even care. I'm supposed to be closing on my house this week, and yes, even though it was a small amount of money, it is going to set me back somewhat as I need to put every bit of money I have towards the house!

Sales are supposed to have started Sunday March 27, on Yoplait Yogurt. 10 for $5.00 as of this date, I called both stores. The Bronx Terminal Store 718-401-5651 and the FDR Drive Store at 212-835-0860 and neither store has the product. I was told on Sunday no rain-checks are being distributed and the truck would be in today, Tuesday, March 29.

As of today, Tuesday, neither store has received the items. It took both stores after calling them today an hour on the phone, to tell me they had not received the item. This seems to be a problem with sale items constantly with this store chain. Especially in the low income neighborhoods. If no rain-checks are going to be distributed, then they should not be allowed to print false advertisement.

I purchased a pair of children's roller skates from the Target store in Spring Valley, NY on 23 Jan 11. When I got home, I noticed a clearance sticker on the box stating that the item was $7.87. I paid $31 and some change so I went to the Palisades Mall's Target store to request a price adjustment. I was told that I could not receive a price adjustment from that store since I did not purchase the item from them. I thought all the stores were the same. But I was informed that the prices in all Target stores are not the same and I would have to return to the store where the item was purchased to get the credit. I then called the customer service number and they told me the same thing. How would I know that the prices are different in each store?

I went into Target to buy a Garmin GPS product last night and I had a gift card I wanted to use. Best Buy had the same item on sale much cheaper then Target. Target wouldn't match the price unless it was in an ad. It was on sale at Best Buy all week but not in their ad. I ask them If could bring in the item online showing it is on sale in the stores all week and they said no that it has to be in an ad.

This policy is so ridiculous. Best Buy had the exact same Garmin GPS on sale for $89.99 and Target has theirs for $199.00. Target should be really embarrassed pricing something more than double then what Best Buy had it for. Target is so uncompetitive when it comes to their electronics. I receive a lot of gift cards from people and they are given to me based on where I want them to come from. I will stop requesting gift cards for now from Target after this experience at least until they change this ** policy!

I ordered a Leapfrog Tag Junior Book Pal from Target.com on Monday, October 18th, 2010 that was advertised for $10.00 with free shipping. I received a confirmation email with an order number and estimated delivery date. Today (Friday, October 22, 2010) I received an email from Target stating that my order had been canceled due to their price error.

They said they could not sell it at that price because it should have been $29.99. I sent a complaint to their customer service department and posted a complaint on their Facebook page as well. Other customers seemed to be very angry over the same situation and it seems it happens often. I am very disappointed and feel they should honor the price they had advertised it.

Check your receipts at Target. You are being overcharged on sale items! I am convinced that after 2 years of being deceived at Target store by sales signs on shelves then being charged full price at the register that Target is persistent and deliberate in overcharging in this manner. Once again, a sign for item sale priced at 63 cents is rung at regular price $1.27. Again, I go to customer service where Marie does not understand what has happened, whereafter another 8 minutes manager Davina finally waltzes over to try to correct the problem. As I am explaining to Davina, another employee, Brenda, chimes into the conversation saying, "Oh, honey, don't get yourself worked up."

I asked if she is a manager. She says no. Then I said, "Please asked Davina to ask this employee Brenda since she has nothing to do with this matter to please have her go about her job." I tell Davina that this is persistent deception by this store that has gone unchecked for the past 2 years where 9 out of 10 times that I shop here that I have to go to customer service to have overcharges reimbursed and that I believe this is deliberate.

How many customers are like myself who have to check their receipt for accuracy? I would bet that more often than not, customers do not check their receipts either because they feel this type of deception could not happen or that they just don't have time to stand at Customer Service for minutes on end to have errors corrected which means money back in their pockets.

I found out how important this was 2 years ago when I was charge $5.82 for a can of 47 cent cat food at this very Target in Hunters Creek, Orlando, FL. To add insult to injury, I call corporate Target at 1-800-440-0680 and talk to Jasna who listens, tells me she'll send this up the food chain to the highest executive at the store and corporate but says she doesn't need to take my name or phone number because we don't call people back on this.

So, in essence, I just wasted 60+ minutes of my time in handling this with customer service at the store, then on a lengthy telephone call with Jasna. I told her that Target has done nothing to assure me that this will be handled appropriately, and Target does nothing to inspire customer loyalty. If I shop at Publix and they make an error, they at very least are all over the situation and give me the first item without charge for the trouble in calling the error to their attention.

Not Target though. Because Target does not care about whether I shop there or not. Moreover, I am now costing them money because I have just called attention to their deliberate deception tactics in their being able to overcharge customers enticed to buy something they may or may not have originally purchased at what they think they are getting at a sale price but, in fact, will be charged full price at the register should that customer never check their receipt or not have the time to have it rectified with customer service. So neither customer service at Target in Hunters Creek, Orlando, FL nor Jasna at the corporate office found my time valuable by not even at very least a call back, or not even a dollar coupon to come back. Why, because now Target will make less money if they do have to correct their deliberate deception by overcharging of sale items.

I received a coupon for free eggs up to 3.29 value from Target in the mail. I went to get my eggs and was told by a guy that was stocking the dairy that they would take 3.29 off the price of any eggs. I took the gage free, range free eggs to checkout along with another item and was told no, they would not honor that coupon because it was only good on the .99 eggs. I showed her the coupon that it said nothing about .99 cent eggs.

She said to look at the picture, there were no eggs with that picture at all in the dairy case. She said, they put that amount on there because in other cities eggs may cost up to that amount. I was outraged, King Soupers or Safeway would have no problem honoring the coupon. I left the coupon and the groceries there and will not shop there again until this is taken care of. I also stopped others going into the store to tell them they do not honor the coupon and they left as well.

This is false advertising. I would appreciate a coupon for 3.29 to be used on any item in that store, if they want me back as a customer. This manager needs to be fired! And so does the clerk that waited on me. I did not get her name but she was tall and had brown hair. I am totally disgusted! If I do not hear a result or get my free coupon in the next 10 days I will contacting the Corporate president personally.

On Saturday, July 31, I went to the Target store at Framingham, MA 01701. Among other purchases, I was purchasing an iron. There was an iron on the display rack with a clearance price of $7.48 . The iron on the display board clearly matched the iron in the box that I took to the register. When I got to the register, it came up with a price of $29.99. I said that the display card clearly indicated that the price was $7.48. I accompanied a clerk who was sent to the shelves to do a price check.

She scanned the card and said that it was for a different iron, removed the label and crumpled it. And when she returned to the register, I was told that the lowest price for the iron would be $20.99. A register supervisor was dispatched, and she said she could not authorize the price as posted on the display. A manager was then called (who would only volunteer that his first name was Jason), and as he further crumpled the display card, he also went to the shelves; and he said the lowest price he could authorize was $24.99 which was $4.00 higher than the desk supervisor had previously stated.

I was shopping at the Target located in the Independence Mall, Kingston, MA and attempted to purchase some lean cuisines which were clearly labeled buy five and get one market creation free so I picked up five of the select meals and grabbed one of the free items. When I went through the register, I noticed that it wasn't discounted, so I asked the cashier to check and she had no clue that it was even on sale and called the head cashier.

After about two to three minutes, she came over and I showed her on the shelf where the sign was, so she was like okay. We went back to the register and she called someone else who clearly didn't know anything about customer service. We had to go back to the sign and she brought all my frozen meals and went through all the signs and said that I had one wrong so even though it was marked, I just said fine I'll take the other one and goes back to the register; voids out one adds, the other still has no discount goes back to the guest services and said she can't do it untill they find out why the computer isn't working. I said for $3.89, this is holding me up.

I'm the customer and I shouldn't be penalized because they can't figure out what's going on and that the computer wasn't generating a gift card to redeem the free meal. So I left my entire purchase because they couldn't figure out how to process $3.89 markdown. They have false advertising which led me leaving just shy of $100 purchase.

I had seen a great priced 32" Samsung TV advertised in this week's current ad (July 11 to July 17th, 2010) for $399.00. I went to the Houston North Central Super Target Store in Spring TX to purchase this TV. When I arrived, TV had a sign for the regular price. I asked the price of the TV, explaining that it was advertised for $399.00 online. The gentleman looked at the sign (not even investigating the price) and said, "Nope, this is the price" (which was the full price).

Again, I explained and even brought in the ad with the dates the prices were good for and the TV that I wanted to purchase with the sale price of $399.00 to show him. He then told me, "Online prices are online only and don't carry into the store." I was shocked and explained how ridiculous and absurd it was that the same TV is priced online for 4 more days at $399.00 and a Target Store will not Honor Target's Online Price Cut! It's ridiculous especially since Best Buy and Walmart will match any competitor's prices, especially its own store.

Target has lost a customer and lost a sale, and I went right next door to the Best Buy and purchased the Exact same TV for the discounted price. I am confused and disappointed in target's ethics and its policies on online versus in store pricing. I would think that because a store has advertised a product online for a certain price, they would honor the advertised price online in their own store.

I had the worst experience at Target last night, at least for me. I never shop at Walmart but after last night, I will now. I had numerous items with numerous coupons. For some reason, the coupons wouldn't scan and yes, they were insert coupons so no dispute that they were copies. But the coupons wouldn't scan for 10 items. The cashier just said no.

So I asked for a manager and she said "you have all the products, they are good coupons but no, we cannot take them" but I really don't know why. So I was in line and at the register for over 40 minutes only to have them remove 10 items, asked them to replace 6 items that were the "wrong" item for coupon and was told to get them myself, and then to look at my receipt this morning to see $15 in coupons were not in there.

So not only did I pay for the items, they will be getting reimbursed from the manufacturer. Scam? I called them at 8AM and they said "it's too late, it was last night". I told her I was in line for 40 minutes with a 3-year old in tow and you are committing fraud for those coupons! They told me to have a nice day.

I wanted to purchase a Lexar computer printer which was selling for $39.99, according to the sign on the store shelf and there was only one printer left on the sales floor, and upon going through the check out; that $39.99 printer rang up as $155.99 and the store service dept. said that they could not sell that printer for $39.99 as it was the incorrect printer. I had asked where the $39.99 printer was located and the clerk looked on the inventory and said that there were 2 printers left but he didn't know where they were and wouldn't look for them.

This was after I had walked back to the service dept. to show the clerk the sign where I got that printer. He noticed that there were 3 other printer models that were misplaced on their store shelves (all of which were radically priced higher than what the shelf prices indicated). We did not purchase a printer and had then we noticed that the receipt on the other item purchased included an item that was added to the sales slip that we did not purchase.

I tried to buy an Outdoor Patio Gazebo at the Seal Beach Target store on June 13 after viewing the price at Target's website. At the store, the Garden Shop clerk "Joshua" rang it up at $270+ but admitted it was the same item as the one advertised online for $149.40. Then he called Manager Jesse who also refused to honor the lesser price. They claimed the small print on the website says you can't have it at that price in the store despite the "Find it at a Target store" button that the customer can click.

If the in-store price is higher than advertised, why is an in-store link included without providing the in-store price? Advertising a price for a product on a company webpage and providing a link on that same webpage to purchase that product at a retail store, without specifically advising the customer that the in-store price will be higher is false advertising, period.

Regardless of their "intent", 99% of potential customers would interpret the ad exactly as I did-buy it online or in-store for this same advertised price. This "loophole" is both purposely deceptive and insulting.

Comments: I had a very bad experience twice at this particular Target and it's getting to be a hassle going to this store. I have never had this problem with the target in White Plains - City Center. The items on the shelf aren't being labeled right. Target is known for its amazing discounts. On the first occasion I went to purchase a dual window fan at which the tag underneath the product that was located on the top shelf said $24.99. When I got to the register, it rang up $39.99. The entire shelf had only one type of twin fan, not two, like the manager or supervisor who checked said they were supposed to be. It is not my fault if they aren't listed correctly. The space should be empty.

The second occasion was yesterday for product no. 253020110. It was listed on the shelf as $6.49. The entire shelf was filled with the same product. The second shelf from the bottom, the price was listed under the product. When I got to the register, it rang up as $9.99. A supervisor named "Alma" went to verify and said that they were put there to fill space and that if they remove the tags, the night stockers would not know where to put the merchandise and that the price stands. One question, are you not supposed to honor the price - shelf match? Isn't it about customer service? I would like to speak with someone ASAP in regards to this. Please contact me ASAP. Location of the store where you shop: Mt. Vernon, NY - 10550

Made a purchase and used some coupons. When I got home, I noticed that they charged me tax on the purchase before they took off the coupons. My total was $12.04 before coupons and $4.95 after, but they charged me tax on the higher total. I plan to go back to ask why. I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else.

Let the buyers be aware! The Target store on Manhattan Blvd., Harvey LA is notorious for pricing an item on the shelves, but the price for the item is higher at the check-out. This has happened to me repeatedly there.

This has been going on since last Saturday. I first saw the advertisement at the Target on New Halls Ferry. It said Apex 40 LCD HD TV advertised for $498.99. When my wife and I tried to purchase it they (the store clerk) said they did not have any in stock and would not until Friday (4/2/2010) when the sale was over. When we asked for a rain check they said they could not give us one because it was an in-store sale. When we asked if any other stores had the sale, we were told they did not as it was just that store and the other stores did not have to honor it. We left it at that at that time. Yesterday, we were at the Target on Hampton and we saw the same sale sign.

When I asked about it we were again told they had none in stock. But that they had other TV of the same size but at a little more. When I demanded they sell me the TV they advertised the sale clerk said they did not have rain check for in-store specials. I asked to speak with the manager. She came and said she would check with other stores to see if they have it. They called Maplewood Commons. They had it but for a higher price. They only agreed to sale it to us if we could get there before closing. It was already 9:15 pm and the store closes at 10 pm.

We drove to Maplewood. When we got there they did not at first want to honor the agreement, but I insisted on getting the TV at the advertised price and they gave it to me. My gripe is this. We went to 3 Targets and were told by all three that they did not have the special they advertised. Even though it was still being advertised, all three said it was just their house special and none of the other stores had it even though they did. None of the other stores wanted to sell us what they advertised without showing us other TVs of the same size but higher value. None of them wanted to give rain checks for special they did not have in stock until after the so-called sale.

I feel the only reason the sale clerk call and the other store hold the TV was because I had my cell phone taking pictures (I still have the pictures) of the TV they advertised and all the other TVs of the same size but higher value. And I went to customer service to fill out a complaint card. This is wrong. If they (Target) have to stoop to this kind of tactics to get customer to buy more expensive TVs by having bogus sales, then something needs to be done.

I got the TV at the price advertised. Now I'm thinking of returning it. It's not worth what I had to go through to get it. It was more of the principle of the thing. If a store advertises a product at a certain price, they should have it in stock to sell at that price or give a rain check for purchase later when it's "in stock". They should not give you all kinds of runarounds and talk to you like you're a kid of theirs who's been told you can't play outside. I just wanted what was advertised, that's all. Not run around from store to store being told it's an "in-store" sell that all the Targets have that they say is only their store.

Electronic department agreed to match online weekly Best Buy ad price for a camera. I drove to the store and they refused to honor a printout of the ad. They said I needed to bring an original. I don't take the paper, I go online to view the paper.

On Feb. 11, I bought a Samsung 32" TV from Target. I paid $499.00 for it. On Feb. 21, while looking through the Sunday fliers, I noticed that price was dropped to $379.98, a $120.00 difference. I called the store and was told I would be credited as it was within the 14 day time frame. When I got there, I was told they could not do the credit as the TV was now listed as a clearance item. I was told I could return it and buy a new one at the reduced price if they had any but I could not buy the one I just returned, and who really wants to repack a large item and cart it back?

I called the corporate office and was basically told, too bad, it is their policy not to make up the difference on clearance items and he was surprised I was told I could return an open electronic item. They do not care about their customers, they have a very bad attitude. If the TV was a clearance item when I bought it or if was over 14 days, I wouldn't be upset.

As it is, they have lost a very good customer. I will never step foot in that store again. There is a Walmart and a K-mart up the road, a Sears across the street and they all will meet Target's prices. Their customer service stinks. I have been told I just should have bought one at the clearance price and just returned it immediately with the first receipt. Thought about it but it just didn't seem right. Anyways, I'm not the only one with complaints against them. You can't find an e-mail address for them so I guess they are not interested in hearing from their customers. They could care less.

I made an attempt to purchase two seasonal/Easter toy items at Target. They were two small Webkinz plush toys that are sold in a small bag. The shelf price was $4.99. The cashier took the toy from the small bag and scanned the toy. Then she scanned the small bag the toys came in for another $4.99. I tried to explain to her the toy comes in the bag. I had purchased a similar seasonal item for Valentine's Day. The toys are carried by other chain stores and are available at Walgreen's for $5.99. She said since the bag and the manufacturer's hang tag both had UPC codes, she had to scan both. She just couldn't understand she was charging $4.99 twice for one toy. I requested the manager comes over. She called the manager. I explained the error by the cashier. I asked her to check the shelf.

I went with her because she even had difficulty finding it in the seasonal Easter aisle. When she found the shelf/price tag indicating the price was $4.99, the manager continued to uphold the cashier and said the toy and the bag are separately rung up. It was apparent I was being overcharged intentionally. I made a telephone complaint to Target and followed with an email. The last I heard that they were researching the complaint. It is obvious the store personnel need training to correctly research the inventory, and, to just have some common sense. Both Target employees I talked to in customer service (corporate) knew of Webkinz toys. I had made a special trip and wasted my time. I can just imagine an elderly grandmother being overcharged by 100% buying an Easter toy for their grandchild.

I am a devoted Target shopper. I love Targets for their clean stores and good prices. However, this specific store in Edgewater consistently show you one price and charge you another. I just moved to the area a few months ago, and go to this Target about twice a month. Each and every time, I notice a price difference. And when I tell the cashiers, they'd say, "You were wrong" or "Oh, the price must be wrong at the aisle."

Recently, I purchased 8 items, and 4 have wrong prices! I finally got fed up and told the customer service to give me the items for free, as other grocery stores would do. She did "price checks" and said that the higher prices were correct. I insisted of walking to the actual aisle and show them the prices that were being displayed. She finally gave me the difference between the displayed prices and what I've been charged. The differences were well over 18% of the prices! I wasted 20 minutes at the store to show them that they were wrong, and they didn't even give me an apology.

The customer service rep was so upset as if someone finally caught them with their "pants down." If you must shop at this Target, make sure you write down all the prices and check and double check your receipt! As for me, I will avoid going there as much as possible. Unfortunately, they are the only one that carries the diapers for my baby. They are practicing a bait and switch tactic where they show one price and charge another. Consumer at this store mus be aware of this practice. They overcharged me by 18%!

I went to pick up my prescription and while waiting I looked at the sheets. They had several sets marked down 30%. I wanted the light pink ones, but there wasn't a sale tag on it. I asked for the manager and Daniel showed up. He said that even though they were the same brand and there were several on the shelf, he would not honor the discount since the item scanned at full price. It was their fault that the sheets were put in the wrong place and therefore, he should have honored the 30% discount. He refused and said he wasn't about to honor the advertisement. Any other good retailer would have gladly honored the advertised price in order to provide good customer service and then moved the sheets off of the shelf. Pathetic!

The price discount for yogurt was $4.00 for ten or 40 cents each (both were listed on the discount label). I got charged 57 cents each (full price). So I discontinued my order. The cashier did not honor the discount.

My wife and I went to Target to purchase the Apple Ipod Nano as advertised for $149.00 with a $10 gift card. For my son for Christmas. We purchased it on 12/16/09. The same Ipod Nano went on sale the next week in the Target ad for $149.00 with a $15 gift card. I went back to the store for a $5 refund. The refund or price adjustment was refused by the customer service clerk, assistant manager and then rudely refused by the store manager Ellen. She said that Target does not match their own prices if it includes a "free" or "bonus" item. She refused to honor a price match to her own ad. She then refused to show me the company policy on returns. I asked her a second time to see the companies policy in writing. She said she did not have to show me anything. She said if I did not like the Target policy then I should return my purchase. I called Target corporate office, and they said that once you use a gift card, that you forfiet your price match guarantee.

I purchased a sweater on Black Friday this year for $8.99 and it was the wrong size. I went to exchange it for the correct size today, 12/6/09, with a valid receipt. When I got to the customer service desk with the correct size, I gave the clerk my receipt and then he proceeded to tell me that I owed over $10 because the sweater is now selling for full price.

I explained that my receipt was only two weeks old and the sweater I was returning was unworn with all tags attached and he told me I would still have to pay the difference. I have personally never been denied an exchange for the exact unused product with a receipt.

The Black Friday sales ad for Target clearly showed a picture and description of "Barbie Ride With Me" Scooter on sale for $17. The product in the store, on sale for $17, was not the same product shown in the sales ad. When we found the product we were looking for in other stores, it's average retail price was $45. Target should not have shown a $45 product in it's ad for the sales price of $17 if that was not the actual product on the shelves. Would this be considered False Advertisement? I believe so.

I am writing to express my extreme displeasure with a recent Target shopping experience. Specifically, my displeasure is centered upon what I believe to be a deceptive pricing policy. To point, I had an opportunity to view an item for sale on Target.com (highlighted below) :

Step 2 Lifestyles Kitchen ( DPCI: 242-11-4704 ; ASIN: B001T1ARCU Catalog #: 11168866 )

Once I had reviewed the item on-line, I proceeded to the aforementioned Target store in order to purchase the item for the stated website price of $79.99.

Unfortunately, when I arrived, the price of the item within the local store was $99.00 plus applicable tax (for a grand total of $109.99). Based upon the $20 disparity on the base price, I elected to not purchase the item in question.

As I was upset concerning this matter, I sent a written complaint through the Target.com website. In a relatively short amount of time, Target Corporate sent me an email stating that "Prices, promotions, styles and availability may vary by store and online" along with some other general points.

HOWEVER, when I spoke with local Target representatives on the intended purchase date and after receiving the note from Target HQ, I was explicitly told that local Target stores NEVER price match with Target.com.

Needless to say, the blurb on the Target website utilizing the word "may" relative to whether or not stores will match on-line pricing is either:

1. )a complete falsehood given the fact that local Target representatives utilized the word "never" in reference to price matching with Target.com OR

2.) indicative of an inconsistent policy which no one within HQ or at the store level seems to truly understand.

Friday Nov 27 I went to Walmart to get nintendo ds lites (advertised in the sales flyer for 98.00) and they were sold out. I then went down the street to Target where they did have them in stock and I purchase 2. When the cashier told me it was 259.98 I asked her about the price match policy signs they have around the registers, she told me they didn't apply that day. I paid and figured I would go to the service desk to speak with a manager when I got to the service desk I explained it to the person and she said the same thing. I then asked her where it was displayed that their price match policy was not in effect that day. She then just called another girl over.

Robin came over and said she was the manager and I explained it to her and she said they were not doing the price match. I again questioned this and asked why the signs were still at the registers then. She told me the price match policy applies when you have a current local competitors printed ad. I then gave her the walmart sales flyer. She looked at it and said the Target flyer would have fine print stating exclusions for the sales on Friday 11/27, I then handed her the Target flyer and she read the fine print and said Oh, it dosen't say anything. Then she told me they got a phone call telling them not to do price matches for that sale. I again read the price match guarnatee sign to her. There are no exclusions except for target.com purchase. She told me they weren't doing a price match and then walked away when I said I wanted to return my purchase because that was not right. If they advertise something they need to stand behind it 100% not when they feel like it. False advertising! I am very upset by this and I think they should match the price for me.

On black friday this year to get a new TV for our home. He went out very early in the morning before Target opened and stood in line for about an hour or so in the rain. He did get inside and was able to get a tv. He was so excited that he went to a couple other stores and bought a wall mount for it as well as a blueray player. He went ahead and screwed holes in our wall and put the wall mount up hooked the tv up, hooked up the blueray player. Then turns on the tv and one of the speakers in it is blown. So we call target and tell them what was going on. And at first they say there is nothing they can do, but then after a couple minutes they say they can give us a raincheck but that they don't know if they will even get anymore in.

So my husband asks them if they have another tv that is comparible for the same price. They place him on hold for a whie and come back and they tell him that they have another TV for $300 more then what we paid for it. So my husband asks them about the price and they say that they can't lower the price. So of course we are a little bit upset and the lady on the phone says that she was not the person who made the decision (of course passing the blame) and that it was the closing manager who decided what would happen. So my husband goes up to target and takes the tv with him and they all of a sudden decide to offer him this other TV for 15% off, but is still WAY more than what we paid for the other TV. Over $100+ more.

Of course once you get a TV for that price you should have to pay more to get another TV. They made us feel like it was our problem that the TV not working and that the time he spent out this morning didnt meant a thing. Like our time isnt valuable.

BAIT and SWITCH on Black Friday: A few hundred customers waited for hours for the Target store to open so we could purchase the heavily advertised $249 Westinghouse TV. They had FOUR available for sale but managed to have the area full with the $500 TV's. Classic Bait and Switch. I have been a long term customer but you won't find me at Target again.

I have been to 3 different Targets in the last 2 months and been disgusted with each. Why I kept going back, I don't know. At one, I walked in with a list of 10 items and left with 2! They either didn't carry the other products or the shelves were empty. The last occasion was on Saturday, 11/7/09. I bought a Black and Decker convection toaster oven. List price $60.99. A sign on the shelf said it was on sale for roughly $39.99. On Sunday, I checked the sales slip and discovered I was charged full price. Because the store is a 30-minute drive away, I wanted to double-check that the item had indeed been on sale. On Monday I called (figuring I would get nowhere on a Sunday) and was told I was out of luck. The sale was good only through Saturday and there was no way they could check the price from two days earliers. I drove back immediately and got a refund. That same day I had bought a floor lamp. I just opened the box to put it together and found I am missing a piece for the lampshade. I called customer service -- AND GOT A RECORDING! I was told to leave my name and phone umber and a message and the woman would get back to me (apparently, this company has only one person in customer service). Needless to say I have not received a callback. What is going on? A recorded message for customer service. No more Target for me -- not even online.

I shopped in Target this morning as I normally do. I spend anywhere between $50-$150 weekly in this store. I have never personally encountered any problems in this store but did witness an employee was rude to another customer sometime ago. Today I picked up a microplush blanket which had a sign that stated it was on sale. I was later informed by the cashier that the blanket was not ringing up the sale price. I returned to the aisle with the store clerk to check sale sign. It turned out that the sign was in the wrong location and it also said microfleece instead of microplush blanket. Anyway, I asked if the store would honor the price since the sign was in the wrong location.

The clerk replied they probably would not but would check with manager Z. Everyone was polite up until I met the manager. The manager was informed of the problem prior to approaching me since she was in the back room. I was surprised that this female was the manager because earlier during my shopping experience, I was approaching the front of the store and could hear someone speaking so loudly. I was in the children's dept. which is the middle point of the store, so I was a good distance from the front of the store.

It turned out to be the manager casually speaking to her colleagues about nothing related to store business and in such a loud tone. Now manager Z informed me that "You need to LEARN HOW TO READ the signs. It says microfleece not microplush. We won't honor it. It is EMBARASSING for you when you get to the cash register and you're told that it's not the right price. Read the signs" Now my complaint is not the fact that the price was not honored. My complaint is the way I was spoken to. I have never been disrespected by an employee in a store. I didn't feel embarassed until I was spoken to by this manager. I now have decided that I will not enter this store again. There are too many options out there.

I spent two hours looking for itmes that I needed for my newborn and myself because I was going to go back to work after having my baby. There was a display that was marked $9.98 for all merona cardigans originally priced $19.99. I got a black, green, brown, and white one. When I went to the register to check out, I was told that the brown one was the only one on sale. The girl at the register asked the person on the floor to double check the price and she said that it looked like all the merona cardigans on the display were to be marked as $9.98.

So the girl at the register called to get permission for the override. The guy she was talking to said that it was only the brown cardigan that was on sale. Because I did not get any resolve, I told the girl at the register that I was not going to be purchasing any of the items at all and walked away from my basket. I understand that these are hard economic times but the consumer is the one paying the price on this one. I will no longer shop at Target because this is the 2nd time this has happened in the past few months and it seems that this is false advertising on the sales floor. If it were in the newspaper as on sale they would have to honor the sale price. I guess they dont if it is in the store.

Drove all the way to target to get 14 oz spaghetti sauce since I am single and need the smaller size.
The price for the 14 oz was exacting the same price as the 26 oz size.

When I asked the clerks about it, they said they had nothing to do with the pricing.

I went on vacation and I saw a deal on target where duracell rechargeable batteries were on clearance. I asked my roommate to buy them since I could not reach to store when I was on vacation. When I got back, I saw that the batteries were made in China. I went to the store to exchange them for made in Japan batteries, but by that time the clearance period was over and they said they cannot exchange it unless I paid the price difference. The originally purchased item is still intact and unopened and they should be letting me exchange it without charging me the difference between the clearance price and the full price.

9/7/09 I purchased an IPOD Touch in the amount of $229.00 and on 9/9/09 Apple had a press release stating the new price of $199.99. I called this Target store and was told that I could not get a price adjustment until the new prices were posted in the store. Today 9/14/09 the new prices are posted but Target refuses to either let me return the product for a full refund nor give me a price adjustment. I feel this is an unfair practice.

the new pearl jam cd backspacer was on the shelf there were about 20 or so and they had a sign saying it was on sale for 9.99, and when we got to the cash register to pay for it, it rang up that it wasn't for sale yet till 9-20-09, and it was 9-11-09, the manager john was very rude about the whole thing acting like it was our fault, and refused to sell us the cd, even though there were a lot of them on the shelves, priced ready to sell.

Sunday sale ad states Ground beef $1.49 a pound. I went Monday eve and they were out but yet over the slot where the ground beef was suppose to be there was a sign for the next expensive ground chuck for 2.69 a pound reg price was 3.49. Now I didn't come to pay 2.69 a pound I came to pay 1.49 a pound. They said I could get some when there truck came in on Wed - it's Monday night. Wonder how many people they suckered tonight with this ruse.

I purchased an item from TARGET in JOLIET last week it was marked 11.88 with a pink clearance sticker but rang up as $17.48. I didn't catch this until after I got home. I called them and explained, they told me to bring in the wrapper and the receipt. Which I did thinking I would be receiving the difference back. Well, that is NOT what happened. They told me I would NOT be getting the $6.00 difference back that the ticket had been put there by a price ticket switcher and that was not the correct price for that item and offered to get security who would also tell me there would be no refund issued.

Why wouldn't they offer to call management? The sticker was not mutilated in anyway, it did not look like it had been removed from 1 item and placed on this item. Which didn't matter anyway as she never looked at the pink sticker she just scanned in the code and the computer came up with the price I was charged. Which of course, I already knew that would happen, it already happened when I checked out.

So I think she was accusing me of switching price stickers when in fact I think they are doing this on purpose to get people to purchase items they normally wouldn't and most people wouldn't even have caught this and tried to get the refund from it. $6.00 overcharged never refunded.

Is it normal practice for Target to charge tax on gift cards? By doing this, it seems it would be double taxation since the consumer that spends the gift card will be paying tax with the gift purchase. Please clarify.

I purchased an Xbox 360 game on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at full price of $59.99. The Sunday Target ad came out the following Sunday, July 19, 2009 with the ad for "Buy one, get one 50% off" for their Xbox games of equal or greater price. I called the store to inquire if they would make honor that price if I came back with my receipt and purchased the other game I had been saving up to buy (it qualified for the equal term of price). I was told no, that they would only refund money if an item was advertised at a lower price than what I bought it at. I was told by the manager that he could not help it that I purchased the game at full price not knowing what was coming in the next week's ad. I could have had two Xbox games for the price I had already paid. I feel I have been cheated.

We went to a Target store and the final price did not match the advertised price.

5/18/09

While shopping online at target.com I came across a dinning patio furniture set that I fell in love with, the draw back was that online they are out of stock. Next to the avability link online there's a link that allows you to find it at your nearest target. I found one approximately 10miles away from home and drove there they had it. I was so excited.

However after finding assistance I was told that I could not receive the promotion offered online, even though it was not avaliable online nd avaliable at the store. I was told that every Target has different prices on merchandise and that because you find it at one store with one price they can not guarantee that you'll pay the same amount.

Also when I ask to speak to the mananger the young lady helping stated that she was the acting manager and proceeded to walk away, literally she gave me her back. I have never in my whole shopping experiences felt so disgusted with the type of service received. Also I did not understand why their prices vary from online to store to store. She also stated that the weekly ad prices are usually not correct and that they do not guarantee the prices printed. Now to me that sounds like false advertising and this should be looked into by the BBB. I am so disappointed and I will file a compliant with the BBB and also spread the word. Hopefully Target decides to change their policy.

We went to target to purchase a Sunbeam .7cu.ft. 700w microwave. the product was not in stock but next to the advertised price was an instant substitute sign stating: instant substitute we are sold out of:.7cu.ft 700-watt microwave oven Please substitute: Emerson .7cu.ft. 700-watt microwave for 47.99 reg.59.99.

we asked to speak with a manager and explained that we felt this was bait and switch because them are asking the consumer to "please substitute" a higher priced item but not honering the 39.99 sale price for the substitute. we spoke with a higher manager then carrol after that, who explained to us that she went to college and that this was not considered bait and switch. we all agreed on dissagreeing. we left the store very upset. not only did we not get the microwave, it was implied that we were not as educated as the manager.

I saw a car stereo for 69.99 at the Target store in Marion Ill. I made a special trip back to the store to buy it. They had three types of stereos in stock. The one I wanted to purchase had a price tag located directly beneath the stero for 69.99. The one located next to it was 118.xx and the third radio on the right was 83.99. All three stereo types had different boxes but two were of the same brand. All three stereos had at least two boxes sitting on the shelf with the price tag located below each one.

I took the one marked 69.99 up to the counter and it came up 83.99. I told them it was priced 69.99. They asked the electronics employee We have a car stereo that should be 83.99 can you find it for that price? In two seconds the guy tells them it's 83.99. I told them he is wrong and they sould move the boxes to the proper area on the shelf.

They told me if I wanted to I could walk back to the electronics area and find proof it is listed at 69.99. I told them no, just take it back and put it in the right spot. Several weeks later I still see it sitting on the self marked 69.99. I took a picture with my phone to back up my claim. This seems a little deceptive and almost like a bait and switch. I guess they hope customers won't notice the real price while they are checking out.

Not only gas but the time and effort to try and buy the item.

I was told that the camcorder that I was purchasing from the store was either not available online or that it would cost more if purchased online (because the sale was in store and when I returned home the camcorder was still in my shopping cart (target online) at a discounted price of $40.00 less. I called and asked for a credit so that I may purchase an item which I was told was not available in the store and I was told that I could not. I could not return the camcorder because I used it once. No refund, no credit.

I payed $40.00 plus NYS tax more for the item.

Three Go International tops I wanted were finally marked down to 30% off. Or so I thought. When I went to get rung up, the less-than-friendly cashier charged me full price for two of them and told me that they only mark down certain sizes. I asked to speak with a manager and she refused to listen to me. I went to Guest Services and dealt with Krystal, who was equally rude and unwilling to hear my side of the story. She treated me like a liar when I insisted that there was a sign indicating that the items were all 30% off. She reiterated the fact that Target only marks down clothing of certain sizes and colors, depending on how well something sells.

I have never heard of this ridiculous policy before. All the others stores I've went to mark down a certain item in all sizes and colors. I called the shift manager to complain about Krystal's lack of customer service, and was given the same treatment. She so impolitely repeated that it was corporate policy and they didn't make the rules. Well, to me, it is discrimination. Any woman of any body type can be discriminated against by Target, according to whatever whims they have to mark down the merchandise.

I have been a Target shopper for years, but in the past few years, especially at this Chicago South Loop store, I've received very bad customer service. I am no longer giving them my business. In an economy where money is tight, team members shouldn't display such negative attitudes and companies shouldn't have such ridiculous policies, as the consumer can easily go somewhere else where they are treated better. I was a big fan of the GO International lines at Target and was looking forward to the Alexander McQueen line in March, but they have permanently lost my business.

Was shopping in the bedding dept and came across a 75% clearence. At the end of the shelf was a 50% clearence. All the blankets were under the 75% off sign and most were mark accordingly, however, the one I wanted was not. When I asked the manager why it was not she simply said it must have gotten moved from the 50% off spot. After looking at some of the other blankets, I noticed than alot more were only 50% off and some 75% off. Some of the exact same items were marked both 50% off and 75% off.

Again when I brought this to the attention of the manager, she simply said they must have got moved to the wrong spot. I told her I would purchase the blanket if she would mark it 75% off as were the rest (it was the only one in purle which I wanted that color) and she refused. The difference would have only been 9.00 and for that she lost a cutomer for life. The rudeness and unwillingness to honor the price of the sign that these items were under has sworn me off from ever shopping or dealing with this type of business.

The most upsetting thing about it was after telling me she would not honor the sign price, she left the blanket and the others that were mismarked under the 75% off sign. This to me is false advertising and tricks unsuspecting customers. There are many other honest competitors out there who want and value my business and who will match Target's sale add prices. I do not need to spend my hard earned dollars at Target when I can get the same products, if not better somewhere else and with better customer service.

Britax car seat mis-pricing of 11/16/08. I believe Target may be guilty of bait and switch tactics. I ordered additional products which I never would have ordered if not ordering the car seats. By the time I got the fourth email notifying me that there was an error and they would not be honoring the price, I had received my additional items.

Additionally, they did not respond with an appropriate contact person whom I could contact regarding this situation. I did not use the $25 e-certificate they offered as I am no longer a Target customer.

I know a lot of people have issues with the return policy, but this isn't even a return - THEY charged me for something I didn't buy! This is not the first time something has been double scanned. No biggie, I understand mistakes happen and I DO NOT have an issue with the mistake, but they are now telling me that the only resolution would be to file a dispute on the credit card charge with my bank. It was a two hundred dollar purchase and I was only overcharged by 5 dollars. And here is the most frustrating part - I CANNOT escalate the call or even have it transferred anywhere but INDIA! I think the language barrier may be part of the problem.

I had this same thing happen about a month ago but with a perfect outcome - I purchased a hoodie while traveling, and when I got home (about 50 miles away from the Target), I realized they charged me for two. No problems then, I called, the girl credited my card over the phone (with receipt info), and mailed me the return receipt. Now they are saying OVER FIVE DOLLARS, you must submit a dispute with your bank. WHAT? My bank would laugh at me and tell me to call Target.

I also would like to add that this has taken up about 2 hours of my time and I had to call back three times because the people just hang up when they get sick of me. I'm not swearing at anyone I just keep saying this is not getting anywhere, how can we escalate this call to someone who can help? Then CLICK. So the girls at the store were the first issue, Jacki hung up on me and Ashley the manager wouldn't pick up the phone when I called back and then I called again and asked for the manager she must have thought I was someone else because she took the call and then said I'm sorry you are confused, after I told her I know they could do a return and credit me because this had previously happened. Then the India thing just had me in tears because I cannot even believe how ridiculous this has gotten and it is so frustrating to not be able to speak with a rep in the US.

Overcharged by 5.19 plus 5.5% sales tax, but the biggest issue is just the stress and anger over what should have been a simple apology from them we are sorry we overcharged you, done but no I have spent hours on this to no avail. I can live without the 5 bucks, I am just so mad that over the years I have spent so much money in that store and this is how I am treated.

On January 14, 2009, I purchased three kid's lunch boxes in the Toys-Sporting Goods Section. Product numbers 091010742 and 091011582. They were on a shelf in that department with many other items that supposedly were marked down with a 30% discount. There was a large sign that said 30% off, and the edges of the shelves had tag inserts saying clearance. Shelf tags also shown the original cost of $11.99. Assuming that they were 30% off, I purchased three. After I got home, I noticed on the tape, that I was not given the discount.

A couple days later, I took them back to the front desk of the store assuming that they would give me the discount. The lady at the front desk said that these items were not included in the clearance. I explained the display to her and she said that if they were on sale, they would have a red tag sticker. They did not. My complaint is that if they were not on sale for the 30% discount, then why were they on that shelf? She would not give me the discount, therefore, I returned them for a refund. I then went back to the department to confirm my findings and there were the lunch boxes still among the sale items. I found a manager, and he confirmed what the lady at the front desk said.

He said someone made a mistake placing all those lunch boxes on that shelf they shouldn't be there, they were not on sale. Only items with the red stickers were on sale. I said, you know that because you work here, I am a customer, so, I don't know that. He still would not give me a discount. To me, this is very poor customer service. They misrepresented the lunch boxes, and would not satisfy me, the customer. I will not be shopping at this store again.

By displaying merchandise improperly, I had to make an extra trip to the store, only to be told that the discount did not apply to what I purchased. They need to treat their customers better and also train their employees to stock the shelves better.

The two day sale flyer for the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving advertised a 2 gig thumb drive. It clearly says the price is $8.88 and includes 40 free prints. The website said the same. I went to the store and the package has the same information. It was a special deal between Target and Kodak and has the information printed inside the plastic package. 40 free prints. Who doesnt love free? 40 prints for you, from Target.? You cant get much clearer than that! It also said See coupon inside for offer? but you cant get to that unless you cut open the plastic package. I assumed it had some unimportant details such as expiration date.

Upon reading the coupon which was hidden inside, it turns out that this offer is not for 40 free prints. The coupon clearly states you receive 40 free? prints with the purchase of 40 or more. This is NOT free. This is buy 80 for half price. I dont think Im being overly picky here - this is very misleading and quite wrong.

I called customer service and spoke to a supervisor who took my phone number then put me on hold to research my complaint. After a few minutes, their system hung up on me. Since he had my phone number, I assume hed call me back but he never did. I called back and finally got someone who took three tries to correctly record my phone number. I dont know what she was doing for several minutes but we never even got to my problem so I asked for someone else. That supervisor told me there was nothing she could do except for me to pay for the 40 prints and send her the receipt after which she would send me a store credit. While better than nothing, this is a lot of unnecessary effort on my part. I also have to trust I eventually receive the credit. What I wanted was some way to go to the store and get my 40 free prints without the hassle. But they dont know of any way. It took me 45 minutes on the phone to find this out.

Since it does not seem to be possible to communicate with anyone higher than customer service by phone, I wrote a polite letter to the President, asking how I could get the promised 40 free prints. I gave my address, phone number and email address.

About two weeks later, I received an email from Joseph who said he wanted to discuss this with me and to call him. He gave the customer support phone number and a reference number. I went through their horrible phone system again on Monday morning and finally got someone who told me he wasnt in yet but would be told I called. That was over a week ago and I still havent heard from him.

I purchased a PS3 game on 12/12 for the sale price of $49.99 on 12/27 it was on sale for $39.99. I took the sale ad and my receipt into the store to get the price difference. The employee at the electronics counter was not sure but didn't think they could give me the price difference. He called the manager, she came over and said it has been over two weeks since the purchase and cannot give me the price difference. I asked her where that policy was written on the receipt. It was not. And it was not posted in the store. She said she thinks it is on Target.com. I told her I didn't buy the item on the web, I got it in the store. I also said the other competitor stores give you 30 days to get the price difference if an item goes on sale from the date of purchase.

I didn't get angry, I simply left my cart of groceries and other items in the store and told them I wouldn't not be spending my money at Target anymore. I have had a horrible time with returns and exchanges this past year. I've read through the complaints and I have experienced the same issues. Target is not a customer friendly store and I will take my business to Walmart down the street. They could have made a profit of $100 by giving me the $10 difference that day but choose not to be customer oriented.

I have a charge of $27.47 on my account but the order that I placed was never completed or delivered. I would like a credit of the $27.47 ASAP. Someone please call me with an explination. Thank you

I had ordered an item online for my daughter the day after Thanksgiving a Fly Fusion Computer Pen. The item was on sale for $29.99 regular price for 79.99. I could not bet that deal so I orderd thinking I would receive by Christmas since I ordered it the day after Thanksgiving well the week before I decided to check the status since I was out of town the second week of Dec and the website stated the item would not be shipped till the end of January. I contacted them to clarify and they advised that the get directly from the manufacture. I advised they had them in the stores however they told me that they do not price match, I was shocked it's Target.com and Target stores I thought they were one of the same.

They advised I could purchase the item in the store however it would be that of the store price. Or I could keep my order and wait. I decided to wait. Now here it is Christmas Eve Dec 24, 2008 and I get a email saying they have canceled my order due to they can not get from their sources. They have the item in the store. I managed to go the store last week and purchase the item at the 79.99 price but I wanted the 29.99 price that it was on sale with free shipping. This really put a damper on my Christmas this year and It almost put a damper on my childs Christmas. How Dare Target.com do this to consumers. I will never shop Target.com and I'm starting to think not to shop Target stores. Please review this case and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you

Emotional stress, A damper in a childs Christmas Wish. Finances had to pay full price for an item they showed was available online for a cheaper price. This list could go on.

Online price for Turbo Tax was $89.99. I clicked the button for local store and got the address 3 miles from my location. Went there, and it was marked $99.99. I brought it to the register, and asked about the on-line price and was told that that's before shipping or something and the store price is not the same. I reminded him that the online price included free shipping for that item. No good, it's $99 or nothing. I went home, double checked the web site, and sure enough, $89! Called the manager, complained, was told some story about the online advertised price is not the same as in the store....I told him that's false advertising, and he apologized and offered to sell me it for the web price. I told him I already found another copy at Costco for $79, too late, and too bad about wasting the gas and time visiting his store for the last time ever in my life!

waste of time, gas, energy dealing with that store.

Received a Sony Book Reader as an earily Christmas present. Purchased on 11-26-08 and in the ad on 12-14-08 it was on sale for $30.00 cheaper. I brought my receipt in for a price match and was told they only do that if it's less then 15 days and I had missed it by a couple of days. I called corporate and got the same crap. Most companies have a 30 day price match. I was told I could return it and re-buy it. What a crock! They aren't even interested in taking a complaint about this. My credit card for them is hitting the trash!!

I received a Christmas Wish List Catalog from Target in the mail. I went to the Central Target store in Fort Worth and the electronics manager would not honor the ad price. She stated she would put the camera aside and call corporate to see if she could honor the ad price. She stated she would call me back on Monday. I never heard from her, so I contacted the store and talked to Bryan (store manager), he stated he was not able to honor the ad price for the camera.

Tis the season not to shop at Target for Christmas. I work full time with elderly, disabled and low income family. When I go Christmas shopping I have a list so that this should be a pleasant experience. Not today at Target. I walked back to the toys and was happy to find the pony I was looking for on my list to be on sale $149.99 I couldn't reach the last one on the shelf but found a tall customer to help me. One my list I needed four GPS TomTom's found a young man that would have them in the front waiting for me. Needed four digital picture frames on sale, Wrong the sale ones were all gone that was ok I will pay a little more for another brand just to be done with shopping.

I go to Checkout the pony rings up $200.00 No, I say the sale sign was right in frontand it said $149.99 Hold up the line she calls for a price check They call back tell me that the pony is $200.00. I know I'm right so I ask if I can walk back and show them the sales tag. Yes, I can do that just go to customer service. The nice cashier rings up my purchases and I write a check out of our company checkbook which has more sitting in the account than most people make in a year. Only to be told that for some reason the check has been rejected and on the back is a 1-800 number I can call and see what is wrong when I get home but they can't take my check.

I give her my debit card and that works just fine happy to take that money. I take the cart full of stuff with this pony sticking out the top to customer service. I tell the girl the problem leave my cart walk back to the toy's wait for a worker to meet me and YES the price on the pony is $149.99 This young man tells me to have a nice day. I'm sure I looked like I could explode. I pay for the pony walk out the doors only to have the alarm go off. I back up pull out my receipt and wonderded Why in the world would I put myself through this. I work with the public every day I'm tired come the weekend.

I don't need this headache so it will be a long long time before I purchase anything from Target again. I call the 1-800 number coudn't understand a word he was saying and I work with people that don't speak english all week. He tells me that this will not be a problem again. He really doesn't know why it happened. He said yes, your check should have cleared it wont happen next time. I don't think so. If your looking for a Happy shopping experience Stay out of Target Stores

i ordered 2britax marathon carseats granite baby product. it was listed on their website at $42.99 each. I placed the online order and received an order confirmatiion number

three days later i received an email stating target has cancelled my order stating the price should have been 199.99 each. Target offered this sale and accepted my order confirming with a order number and date of delivery. target sent me an email offering a $25.00 gift coupon and stating if I accept this $25.00 then target would be released from any obligations.

If target was legally right in refusing and cancelling my order then WHY must they request a release of obligation. I only request my order be sent to me and be billed the $91.14 as stated on the statement

On Tuesday, 25-November-2008 I purchased an easy bake oven for my granddaughter. I presented a coupon to at the service desk for Two Easy-Bake Mixes with purchase of Easy-Bake Oven. At time of purchase they have any of the mixes in stock. I called the store today which is the 26th and still not in stock.

I asked to speak with the LOD and was told that they do not have control over inventory. The coupon expired on 11-26-2008 and since they still did not have the item in stock they would not honor the coupon for another date and they would not substitute per corporate. This is not good business and it is not my fault that they do not have anymore inventory of this item. In all good faith the coupon should be honored when the product is in stock. You would think at a time when the country in a ression and store are loosing business you would do what is ever needed to satisy the customer. If this isn't resolved to my satisfaction I can take my business elsewhere. I will inform my family and freinds as to what occurred.

On Sunday, November 16, 2008 I was on the Target website & noticed that Britax Marathon car seats were on sale for $42.99... being pregnant with twins I was overjoyed to think that I could get my children reliable car seats at such a great price.

My joy was short lived when I open my email the next morning to find an email from Target, stating that they cannot honor my order, even though they made a mistake in the pricing of the car seats.

The emails I received continued to direct me to the Help Section & Policy Pricing, to me that is just a way for Target to own up to their mistakes but not have to take responsibility for them. Is that anyway to run a company?

What are you teaching your employees, its OK, to make a mistake but dont worry about it because you wont have to take responsibility for it nor the inconvenience that it causes the customers. There is no other reason that a company would have such a policy other then to cover their butts when mistakes are made.

Not only did you not honor my order but also they didnt even offer any inconvenience discount

I went to my local Target after seeing a Christmas tree on sale on their website. The website indicated that the tree was available online and in the stores. When I got to the store, the tree was not priced on sale, so I asked an employee about it. The employee, who I later found out was a manager, told me that I must have read the ad wrong and it must be another tree that was on sale.

I was sure it was that tree and I asked her if she could check on that and even check the store website. She begrudgingly went to the front of the store and I followed her. She looked it up on the computer and found out that I was correct, but then she stated that they don't always reduce items for sale just because the store website does, even when the website says that the item is also available in stores.

She apologized and told me that she couldn't help me, and I let her know that that was wrong and that they were not honoring their own company's prices. She told me there was nothing she could do. I then asked her if I could speak to the manager, at which time she indicated that she was the manager. I again told her that that was very bad policy and that I had worked for Target in the past and we never handled issues like that, or our customers, in that way. After that, I went back to the department, and still being angry about what had just transpired, I put the tree and all the other items down. My shopping trip at Target was over. On my way out of the store, I stopped at Customer Service and asked who the store manager was. The employee told me that Kelli, who she had just seen me speaking to, was the manager. I then asked who the head store manager was, and she told me David. I asked if he was in, and she told me he was off for the day. When asked for his last name, she indicated that they do not give out last names. Yes, I do recall that policy when I worked for Target previously.

Target is not the store it used to be, at least not at that location.

I left the store angry over a mere $10 that Target wouldn't make right. The tree was originally priced $69.99, and the sale price (as listed on the website) was $59.99. I didn't buy all the items that trip that I had planned on based on this experience, and I came home and ordered the tree online at Target.com and got free shipping, so I still got the tree at the right price. However, I will never look at Target the same way. That is no way to treat their customers.

Bought Britax on sale for 59.99. Called right after making order to confirm that it wasn't a pricing mistake. CS assured over and over that it was the true price and I would be receiving my car seat in 2-6 weeks.
The next day, I received a confirmation email that my product order went through and the same that the CS said about delivery.

Later, I got an email that it was cancelled. I called CS and got no assistance in understanding what happened. They just regurgitated what the policy says about mispricing. My complaint is that CS told me that it was going to be shipped at 59.99. And MANY other mothers who ordered at that price are getting their car seats. Target.com should honor everyone's sale if they are going to honor some... I will be following up on this one.

Sunday 11/16/08 I stopped @ Targey in Hudson, Wi. I found some counter height chairs I wanted to buy. I asked the clerk how many they had in house and she said 24. She also said they come in big square boxes so I would need a truck to pick them up (I wanted 6 chairs) The item # is 24913007. 24" Carlye 2 pk chairs. So Monday 11/17/08 I returned with a pick up to purchase 6 chairs. They only had 2 in the store. I purchased the 2 and they gave me a list of what other Target stores had the chairs in stock. Tuesday 11/18/08 I drive to Stillwater ,MN. as they were supose to have 3 boxes(6 chairs). I go to the furniture department, find the chairs and they are marked $30.00 higher than what I paid the day before.

I asked the clerk, she checked and they were still the same price as I paid - but the price tag was incorrect. I said I would take 2 boxes(4 chairs. The clerk said she would meet me @ the check out. Go to the check out she tells me there is only 1 box(2 chairs). I purchased the 1 box. They again give me a list of what Target stores have the chairs in stock. Wednesday 11/19/08 I call the Oakdale, MN Target, they tell me they have 2 boxes in stock. I asked them to put my name on 1 box and I will be there right after work to pick them up. I arrive @ Oakdale about 3:00p.m., go to customer service to pick up the chairs and guess what - the girl made a mistake- no chairs in stock. But the clerk felt really bad and had left some customer coupons for a few dollars off something.

The clerks then said thay could give me a lisst of what stores had the chairs in stock - like I could believe that. Three times I was told incorrect information how could I trust another list. None of the stores could tell me when more chairs would be in or would any of them give me a call when they did come in. I must call each day and if there were chais in stock they could save me some. Three stores in three different cities and three times incorrect information. I walked out shaking my head - leaving the "sorry" coupons on the counter-I just wanted a straight answer from some one as to when and how I could get my last 2 chairs.

At this point I am still 2 chairs short - Hudson MIGHT get some in by the week-end. One of my questions is why have those readers if they are that incorrect and please tell your clerks to only give out facts - how about checking in the back room before you tell some one something - especially after I had explained the situation and they knew I had been given wrong information before. This has been the most frustrating and time consuming event not to mention waste of time, money & gas driving all over the country!!!

I am so sick of Target's advertised sale prices. Too often I purchase a product on sale only to find out I'm charged full price. On this occasion I selected toilet paper with an advertised sale price of $6.99. I was charged $11.79. What they do is put a few of the sale priced products like a 12 pack of TP and mix them with the more expensive 18 pack, but all you see is the $6.99 sale. Sometimes those 12 packs are all taken so the only things left are the more expensive ones sitting under the sale sign. This has to be deceptive advertising. Can't anyone stop this?

False Advertisement - Hanes sweat shirts - lowest price of the season advertised at $4.66. I had previously (within 2 weeks) purchased the same article for $4.50 and when I saw the ad I thought they were selling a heavier shirt because of the higher price and quote. I went to the store and saw it was the same article I had previously bought and it was now at a higher price despite their advertisement.

I cannot believe any of their advertisements again. I am a senior citizen and my time and gas consumption were thoroughly wasted by their LIE! I cannot trust them anymore. Will this info be sent on to them - I would like an explanation of their statement Lowest price of the season.

On Sunday ad I saw an advertisement for a game my son had requested on his Christmas list. The ad showed a picture of the game and below available Oct. 21 8:00 am. I showed up at the Target before 8:00 am on Oct. 21 and waited for the store to open. I went directly to the electronics counter and they had the game but could not ring it up. I went to speak to a manager at the customer service counter and before I could even get the complaint out of my mouth, right away they showed me the disclaimer at the top of the page of the ad I read on Sunday, the manufacturer of the product I wanted to buy decided to not let the product be sold until Nov 7, 08, even though the clerk at the electronics counter was holding 6 of the games.

It was only time and inconvience I lost but I have every intention of packing up the Ipod and two WII game systems I purchased from Target in the last couple of weeks and returning them for a refund. I played by the rules but Target did not. Don't advertise any items until you have a firm date from the manufacturer for the release date. Target has lost a good customer.

I was at The Targetstore located at the Atlantic Center Mall this morning at 10:00a.m. and purchased a girls jacet that was hanging on a rack with five other jackets that were exactly the same. The sign above the jacets said Girl's 4-16 Cherokee jackets $19.99. When I got to the register the jactet rang up at the original price of $44.99. I went to customer service and the very nice young man was willing to help me but needed a manager to override the difference in the amount.

We spoke with two managers and eventually had to speak with Jeremy (LOD) who was rude, impertinent, and told me that he didn't care what the sign said he was not giving me the jacket for the sale price. He further went on to explain that he didn't care if I called the bureau of consumer affairs or anybody else he was not honoring the sign which was posted above the merchandise. I asked him for a copy of the sign and he told me it was the property of Target and he wasn't giving me anything. Eventually he gave me the sign. I asked Jeremy for his managers name and the name of his district manager and he told me he had no district manager and the store had no district manager. He proceeded to give me an 800 number and told me that I could accept a 10% discount and if I didn't take that he was going to cancel my sale. to get out of the store.

I repeatedly told him that he should watch how he was talking to me and that he was being exceptionally rude and disrespectful to me, but he carried on anyway. I want a written apology from him for his failure to provide customer service, his rude attitude, and his telling me blatantly that he was going to cancel my sale, and him telling the security guard to put me out of the store. I want the difference between the $44.99 price of the jacket and the displayed sale price of $19.99. I have been a shopper at Target since it's opening in New York and in New Jersey. Thanking you in advance for help in resolving this matter in a satisfactory manner.

On August 15, 2008 I ran into Target to check on a few furniture items. I found a leather chair priced at $229.99 but was unsure if it would fit in the house. On August 22 I returned to the store and found that the chair was still priced at $229.00 and asked to have one brought to me from the warehouse. It took 45 minutes for the clerk to find the chair. Meanwhile I went to the area rugs and found samples mounted on the side of a bin all of which were marked at $129.99. I took one out of the bin that exactly matched the one on the sample and noticed it was marked at $149.00. I assumed that was the regular price and it would be marked down to the sale price at checkout.

I took the only two items I had in my cart to checkout and had them rung up... the rug rang up at $149.00 and the chair rang up at 329.99. Just as I was beginning to sign the credit slip I noticed the price difference. It took another hour to have the managers research the pricing and I was told that the prices that rang up were correct. I told them I knew the law and they are required to give me the items at the price marked on the display. After that they agreed to sell them at the marked price and I saved $120.

If I had not paid attention to the sales slip Target would have made that $120. Since both items were mismarked I believe that this is a SCAM perpetrated on the public. I wish I lived in Santa Rosa so I could go in and see if they are still priced incorrectly. It seems too far fetched to belive that I picked up the only two items in the store that were mismarked.

No harm done because I was strong enough to stand up to them and demand that they sell the items for the price marked on the display items.

On 06/14/2008 I purchased $297.15 worth of outdoor furniture cushions from the Asheville, NC Target store. Within 2 weeks, I was back in the store and saw the same cushions on clearance for 30% off the original price. I approached John manager on duty (no last name would be given) and told in a snooty manner that there was a difference between sale items and clearance items and that I was welcome to contact Target's customer service line.

I did contact that # and 'John's' take on Target's policy was confirmed. I was told, however, that if I wanted to take the cushions off of my furniture, load them into my car, take them back to the store, unload them, return them and repurchase them, then I would be welcome to the new price! How inviting is that policy?

I have never been and never will be in the future a WalMart shopper. I have, however, been a loyal Target shopper. I like the cleanliness of the stores, wide aisles, product blend and Target's policy of investing in the community. If it is worth this ridiculous policy and 30% of $297.15 to Target's bottom line to lose all of my future business ,not to mention me trying to convince as many patrons as possible to no longer patronize Target then so be it. They are certainly smarter and more wealthy than I am. Sears and Woolworth were too. I am less interested in the refund than in changing such a crazy policy. I could get the refund but after having to jump through a bunch of hoops??? Make sense to you??? Thank you for your time. I know from experience that customer service can often be a thankless job and entail dealing with complete idiots. I am not one. Look at the policy! BTW John, the MOD was an ass. I was not and neither was the customer service rep on the 800 line.

Loss of money, frustration with the policy of a decent company

Sunday paper advertised 12pack of Pepsi soda 4 for $10 dollars + CRV. Got our four 12 packs, got to the register and it came out to $19.82 we asked why and target said because of deposit of .60 cents each. We wondered what the deposit is for and target said we are paying for cardboard and aluminum. So instead of the price that was advertised on their Sunday paper it was actually a total of 19.82 FALSE ADVERTISMENT!!!

I chose between sizes of shoes at Target and noted differing prices on the same shoes (8 and 9 $4.98 and 8.5 $9.98). Since the shoes were identical in every way but size, I assumed these were either priced incorrectly, or the updated tag had fallen off etc... At the checkout I noted that they were the higher price and went to the customer service desk. The customer service lady stated that it was Target policy to price different sizes on different dates and refunded the price. When I contacted Target Inc through email I was told that this occasionally happens due to circumstances beyond their control. This is very much a scam to me, hoping that customers will not notice at the register that each size is a different price range.

At this Target, I have twice had problems redeeming valid coupons for products purchased. I have heard excuses from the cashiers ranging from, these machines don't want to accept the coupons to are you sure you got that item? to, most recently, our manager is going to check to make sure these coupons are not fradulant.

Today I printed valid Target store coupons for Pampers diapers and took manufacture's coupons to use for these items. Pampers and wipes were the only items in this transaction. When the cashier, Carolyn, had trouble scanning the coupons, she called for the manager, whose name I failed to obtain, to take the coupon. He then said that he would be back after checking the coupon. The cashier then asked for me to step aside quite rudely so she could check the customer behind me. I told her that I would wait where I was standing until the manager arrived. I waited for about 8 minutes for the manager to come back and by then my child was crying. This cashier took 2 other customers in front of me during this time.

When this cashier did finally say that the coupons were valid she did not apologize for the wait, just maintained her rude demeanor. Then she had to be told by another cashier that it was okay to accept the Target coupon and a manufacture coupon together for an item. It is obvious that Target staff are not trained very well, but that can't explain the unprofessionalism.

In the end, this cashier did not redeem the valid coupons I gave her and the manager had approved. So I overpaid and left the store. I will be complaining to as many consumer sites as time permits because this is the worst customer service oriented store I have ever been to.

i purchase a madaga azebo at target in march of 08. before i purchase it in the local target store, i was looking at taget website it showed a sale price of 249.99. my fiancee and i went to target the next cday purchase it, on it was for 299.99. i ask the sale associate and manager since it was on there website i should be able to get it fot 249.99

manager stated no because the target website and the store was different that they could not honor the price. even the sales associate could not figure that one out. how could they not honor that and how are they different?

I selected a Zune car audio product marked with the price $39.99, product scanned for $79.99. Store refused to sell the product for the price indicated on the sticker indicating they have the right to refuse sales to anyone. This occured on July 6,2008 around 1:30pm. Store representitive removed the sticker price and took product away. Product was not purchased as a result.

I purchased a Madaga gazebo at 8:00 PM on 06/24/2008. The purchase price was $349.99. Several items in this department had been marked down by 30%. The sales person never suggested that this item was going to be marked down.

The next day, I was in Target and this very item was marked down to $244.88. When I took my receipt to customer service, I was told that they do not refund the difference on clearance purchases. I called their Guest Relations number and escalated 3 levels of personnel. Nobody was willing to credit me the difference of $105.11. I have never heard of such a ridiculous policy.

Why would the sales person not inform me that the next day my purchase would be 30% less. I don't need this kind of Guest Relations! From now on, I will take my business to Wal-mart or K-mart where they still treat the consumer with respect and appreciate a customer that spends thousands of dollars each year.

With tax, the difference should have been $114.06. This is the amount that should have been refunded and was refused.

On 5/09/08, I stopped at Target to purchase some groceries. Among the items that I purchased was a can of Hill Brothers French Vanilla Cappuccino. I had purchased the same item there about a week earlier, and recalled that the shelf label had said the price was $3.49; but when I got home, I saw that I had been charged $3.69. This time, I made a point of checking the shelf label -- which did, indeed, say $3.49. At the register, when the item scanned for $3.69, I informed the cashier of the difference; the cashier suggested that I was mistaken, and had either misread the label or had read one for a different item, clearly implying that I was either senile or retarded. When I did not relent, she called for an associate to check the price. He came over and took the item -- but what I watched him do, instead of walking back to the grocery section to check the shelf label, he went over to a different register and scanned the item, then came back and announced that the shelf label said the price was $3.69. When I still insisted that was incorrect, he told the cashier to ring it up for $3.49, which she apparently proceeded to do. After I got home, however, when I looked at the receipt, I saw that I had been charged the $3.69 price anyway.

This is not the first time that I have caught Target Stores charging a different price at the register from what is displayed on the shelf label; and their employees display an attitude of contempt and disdain for any customers with the temerity to object to this ongoing corporate petty fraud.

I was at the cash register, I told the cashier what my articles were and she started to charge also for the items of my girlfriend that happened to be behind me. I told her that we were paying separate and I also requested $40.00 dollars cash back. She went ahead and tried to void the transaction and I ended up with an extra $40.00 dollars. I saw my receipt and I was concerned so I went back and I told her and she called the manager and the manager said that, everything was fine and not to worry about anything. A week later my girlfriend got charge for the $40.00 dollars so she had to call Target to complain about it and after another week she got refunded. Then few weeks later (about a month), they went ahead and charged my credit card with the $40.00 dollars. I understand it is their money but how about if by the time they take the money out, I have no funds. People can't just go ahead and play around with other people's money and/or credit card. I will never shop again in Target.

I had no economic or physical damage, it is just the fact that, once a credit card transaction is done in the store and the store already have the information they can go ahead and do anything they want without notifying the person and that is wrong.

There was an ad for a record to dvd recorder a short time before Christmas. The ad ran the item for $169.99. The same day as the ad broke, the item was sold out, and 2 other stores in the area were also out. I asked for a raincheck and was told that because this was a seasonal item they would not be getting more of them and so a raincheck would do no good. After Christmas, in early January, I noticed that they were still carrying the item, but now the sale price was $279. after popping into the store as I frequently do (or as the case is now, DID), I inquired about the price, and the associate assured me it would be that sale price again. It never has been. If in fact the item was not ongoing, I would obviously have to accept that a raincheck was not possible. Now since it is an ongoing item, the right thing for Target to do would be to honor the price. I work retail, and in a situation like this I would absolutely do this for the sake of good customer relations. Clearly this is not how Target does business. I will not shop there again. It is a shame that they have grown so big that the loss of one customer is of absolutely no consequence to them.

After 3 phone calls to corporate customer service, I was simply told there was nothing they could do. WHAT? I think there certainly is something they can do. And it is so simple.

My son's House and contents were taken in the Feb 5, 2008 tornado in Hattieville Arkansas. They lost everything. They have a 9 month and a three year old. The insurance paid them and we decided to go to Target as they were the only place we could find a baby bed as we had been to Toy's R us, both the Little Rock and North Little Rock Stores and they were out. We picked up out the Bed, Dresser, changing table and rocking chair to replace what was lost. We went to check out, they would not take my daughter-in-law's check because it was a temporary check, so I wrote out a check from my account for the total amount $989.55 but they said they could not take my check. I could not understand this as I have written checks to this same store a dozen of times. I got upset and asked why and they said I had to call a number on the back of my check.

So I contacted Certegy 800#, it was automated the 1st time and it stated it was protecting me from Fraud. I have never had any checks stolen, and they saw my Drivers License. I called back and talked to a live person, she stated she was sorry, but to protect me they could not reverse it, I told her this was my account, the account had been open for years, and she stated it has nothing to do with account, my balance, they were just protecting me from fraud. I said, so what you are saying I'm a liar and stoled my own check and license and my Granddaughter can go without a bed.

We are still looking for a bed, she is sleeping with her parents. We were embarrassed, humiliated in front of dozens of people when the cashier stated we can not accept your check.

I purchased 3 items ane 2 out of the 3 items rang up for more then the price listed on the shelf.

I would have been over charged if I was not paying attention.

On 12/22/07, I was shopping online when I saw the stocking holder that we had been looking for and it was marked down 50%. It did not state that it was only on sale on the net and gave me the address to the closest Target store. I went there and noticed that it wasn't marked down so I took the item to the customer service desk and the employee scanned the item and told me that it wasn't on sale at there store yet but if I would keep the receipt and come back in after it goes on sale that they would refund the difference. I took the receipt into the same store that I purchased it from today with my receipt in hand and explained what had happened and what I had been told. The employee behind the counter pointed to a wall that was covered with papers and memos and said that it was in their return policy that refunds only are given on sale items and not for items put on clearance. This store is approx. twenty five miles from my house and I sure wouldn't have driven back and fourth for a $12.50 refund if I hadn't been told that it was a sure thing. Very, very poor customer service and I don't plan on shopping there again.

I wasted 100 miles in travel.

I was going to purchase a 62 piece tool set that was on sale for $19.00. This was clearly marked on the SALE sign. The 62 piece tool kit rang up for $59.99. They called for someone to check the price. They said the one that was $19.99 was a different one. They asked if I wanted the one on sale, and I said yes. When it was brought to the front it was a drill. I explained to them I wanted the 62 household tool kit set, and they went to get the kit that was on sale. They brought up a 161 piece tool kit set. I explained that I wanted the one that was on sale which was the first one that I brought up to purchase. They would not honor the sale sign and said it was a typo. I asked for the store manager who, of course, was not there.

They gave me their 1-800 number, and I called to complain. I asked the manager on duty if I could have a copy of the sign so that I could show the error to the district and store manager because I was sure that they would correct the error after I had left. I was in the store for more than 45 minutes waiting for them to get it right which they never did. The manager on duty would not make a copy of the sign for me. She said it was Target property and that she could not make a copy. I cannot believe that I was treated so badly. I was given horrible customer service and bad excuses!

My wife called me and said she had seen I-pod Docks that plug into your car lighter for $49.95 at the Springhurst Store. I went to get one for her as a Christmas gift. When I got there, they were clearly marked $49.95. At check out, it rang up as $89.99, but I didn't notice because I was fumbling with the card reader.

As I walked out the door, I looked at the receipt realized it was wrong and turned back to the cashier. At this point there were several people in line so I went to customer service where I was told the product had never been $49.95. I went back to electronics and found the rest of the dock stations (4) had been removed from the shelf. When I told customer service that they had pulled the mislabled item, the rep said, well we just can't leave them on the shelf when they are mismarked. I was told that they would give me a 10% discount.

It was embarrassing as hell, and I was late returning to work, and was late for an appointment due to their error. I paid more than I bargained for and later decided I should have just returned it, but have too much time invested in the transaction.

My daughter and son-in-law stood in line at Target on black Friday from 2:30 am until opening to get me a psp bundle. Mike, the manager assured them they needed no line ticket as they had plenty of psp bundles. When they went running back to electronics the sales person handed my son-in-law a psp when he asked for the sale bundle. When all three of us met up with each other and went to checkout, we had the wrong psp pricing at $199.00 with no game. The sale was psp with five games for $169.00. We pointed out to Mike that he was not matching the $169.00 price unless he included the five games with the system. There was no swearing, but we were upset since we were in line so long and assured we would get the system. Upon continuing to try and explain to him, he turns to me and stated, if you want to complain then leave my store; I can called security over.

My daughter was crying and all upset. This was uncalled for. I will never again go into Target. I even carry the Target Visa. However, never again. I was humiliated in front of numerous people. The manager was not any better. What happened to common respect for the customer?

The day after a recent trip to the Target in Columbia MO, I noticed a $59.98 item on the receipt. I knew I had not made any purchases in that amount. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the cashier had rung up the $29.99 pair of shoes twice. I called the store and told them I had been charged twice for the same pair of $29.99 shoes. I offered to fax the receipt to them so they could investigate and credit my debit card accordingly.

The Team Member said that I had to bring the receipt and my debit card in and they would be able to take care of it. They said it could not be taken care of over the phone because I had to be there to enter the PIN for the refund. I bring in the receipt and am told that since the item is over $20 the matter has to be turned over to AP (I am assuming that means asset protection.) and they would contact me. AP would not be able to investigate until the next day.

I asked to talk to a manager and explained that it was going to be a great inconvenience for me to make a 2nd trip across town and that I didn't understand why when I called the first time they couldn't allow me to fax the receipt to them so they could at least start investigating it. The Manager very condescendingly tells me that the original receipt is needed for them to start the investigation (I could see that it would be needed for them to issue the refund, but needing it for them to start looking in to the matter seems a little extreme).

I asked if after AP reviewed the security tapes if there was anyway that I could get the refund without making another trip perhaps by crediting it as a credit on the Visa debit card or mailing the refund to me. I was told in a very sarcastic tone that they were very sorry, but I would have to make another trip because AP has to...(I just know that there is going to be a long line when I go there).

Up until this evening, I spent a lot of money at Target. I had purchased all of my cleaning products, laundry products, paper products, toiletries, make-up, table linens and bedding, stationary, DVDs, cat food and cat litter for 3 cats, storage and organization products both for the home and for our business as well as gifts for neices and nephews. I also purchased a lot of snacks from Target and usually got at least one clothing or accessory item for myself or my signigicant other on each visit (I go approximately once a week).

Had they resolved the matter or assured me that I wouldn't have to go to the Guest Service counter a 2nd time I would have taken the opportunity to stock up on cat care items. Instead I did my shopping elsewhere. Within 4 miles of my house, there are 2 different Wal-Mart Supercenters, Staples, Lowe's, Sam's Club, Kohl's, and 2 grocery stores. I drive by all of these places on a daily basis. There is no need for me to drive out of my way to shop at Target.

Target is 8 miles from my house and 2 round trips is going to cost me about $6 for gasoline.

Tonight was the third time I have had the same problem with this particular Target store. It seems that either all employees there have been trained to over-charge or its scanner/computer has been programmed to do so ever so often.

Tonight, I bought 2 of one item and was charged for 3. A similar thing happened the other two times. When I caught it and came back to the customer service counter, I asked if it could be reported to management so it would not happen to me the fourth time. The lady there said they knew about it.

I have lost a lot of time checking my receipts and having to drive back to this store, to have the matter manually corrected. More importantly, I have lost faith, trust, and respect for this Target store.

I have been a Target customer for over 20 years in two states. On May 4, I purchased a gazebo for $349.99. In the May 27th sale paper, this same item went on sale for $249.99.

I went to my local Target expecting a $100.00 adjustment. Much to my surprise, I was told no adjustment after 14 days. However, I can return the unopened merchandise within 90 days for a refund!

Now I have to hire someone with a vehicle big enough to transport this item back to the store, refund it and then re-purchase it at the sale price!

I went to the Target store on Queens Blvd. and attempted to purchase two TruTech 20 flat televisions for $99.99. They were out of stock and I requested if they could call another location for me. So I traveled 5.5 miles to the Gateway store. When I arrived at the Gateway store the television I wanted was on display with no price sign. When the televisions were scanned their price came up as $139.99 each. I explained to the salesperson that the price listed at the Target location in Queens Blvd. was $99.99. I then requested to speak to a manager.

She told me the only thing I can to was file a complaint with their headquarters.

On two seperate occasions I have purchased a pair of shoe at Target and on both occasions the scan price does not match the price of the shoe. The first occasion was corrected at the register and an adjustment was made. this time on 03-04-2006 I did not notice until that evening at which time I made a call to the store who offered a refund of the $2.00 over charge when I return with the receipt.(It will cost more in gas to return for the $2.00 than the amount.) I then contacted the consumer line at the 8004400680 #, at this time I was told that the store had been contacted and the only thing that could be done for me is the return of $2.00.

When a grocery store scans an item and the marked price or shelf price is different you receive the item free. Target contends that this is not their policy and cannot offer me anything else but to mail my $2.00 to save me the trip back to the store.

On three separate visits to the store, signs were advertising an item for sale at a certain price. When ringing the item up, the price came out higher than what the store sign said. First it happened with a pots and pans set we bought. Then on another occasion it was a bedspread. Today, it was just plastic dishes, with a sign that said sale 1.66, but that rang up as 2.00. The bedspead was advertised at 50% off, but changed to 30% off when it was rung up. They said they would honor the 50%, but then rang it up at a higher price anyway, even after agreeing to it. Today I also saw a shelf marked clearance 75% off, but the items really were more like 30-40% off when I calculated the actual discount.

About three weeks ago, Target on N. Druid Hills in Atlanta had a sale on Feline Pine Cat Litter. There was nothing on the shelf. An associate gave me a chit to purchase (a purchase promise) 9 bags of the same litter at the sale price, or a 17% discount on replacement litter, for 45 days. On February 5th, I went back to Target and they still did not have the litter on the shelf, although the sale was still on. I had to speak to four different sales associates - I was shunted from person to person -- before another associate found a few bags in the back. Today, Feb. 18, I went in and they STILL did not have Feline Pine, so I picked up four bags of another brand.

Aside from the fact that the check out clerk had no idea what to do to give me 17% off on the four bags of litter; Once they FINALLY checked me out (about 10 minutes), they tore up the purchase promise slip -- so I will no longer be entitled to the other five bags of litter (remember, the purchase promise was for nine bags). Unfortunately, the clerk tore up the slip before I had a chance to ask how I was going to get the other five bags and without giving me the option of getting five additional bags.

Target clearly had no intention of making the litter available at the sales price and they refused to honor their own purchase promise. This is faulty advertising.
