Add my name to the 75 pages of complaints about AOL double billing that you already have compiled over several years. The descriptions are so similar to mine that I see no need to repeat the chronicle of my own sad experience. I gather that nothing has been done to compel AOL to cease and desist this dishonest or incompetent practice. Perhaps, you can explain why AOL seems immune to blandishments, threats and pressures; especially your own limits in consumer protection. No further explanation is needed for the decline in the business standing of the AOL company.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I have found myself in AOL hell. I have been dealing with breast cancer and now diabetic problems for the past 7 years. Dealing with these problems, I decided in 2005 to cancel AOL because I wasn't using the service, which I relayed to the operator who assisted me. For about a year there seem to be no activity in my account referencing to AOL; however, in 2007 I noticed there was another entry even though I had changed my credit card. On this occasion AOL customer relations said that they could only refund me 6 months of payments and that I would no longer have to pay for services, but receive a limited AOL free of charge, even though I was not using the service anymore. In 2009, I noticed that they have started debiting my account again, I called and was told that they had mistakenly done this even though I was with Verizon internet in 2008. Again in 2011, after obtaining Comcast, I was looking over my old bank statements and noticed AOL debiting on my account again and for sometime already.
I contacted my bank and they confirmed the information on my bank statement. My account has been debited since 2007 off and on, AOL are ***. How do they get to use credit cards that have been canceled and install new credit card numbers without permission? Recently, I noticed /contacted the VA credit union about this incident again occurring in AOL customer service center and the improper billing activity. On 2/2/2012, AOL contacted by letter saying that I owe them this month's billing. I don't even have or have had their service since 2005. I have canceled this twice. What else does it take? I need my money back and not just three months, but 5 or more years worth.

This woman is in charge of handling complaints and resolving problems. I had filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office in Texas. She responded to the complaint with a bunch of lies. I wanted proof they were paying for the service I was billed 6 years for, and to date, none has been provided. She said I was paying for hi-speed internet and dial-up service. I wasn't getting it for almost 6 years, but they were still billing for it and taking it from my bank account.
I was paying for my own hi-speed internet, sold and moved from where services were so-called provided. I showed proof I was paying for it myself along with a photo of the Comcast screen at Comcast showing it was in my name. She said they were still paying for my service to Comcast, but she will not provide proof.
She is in AOL's pockets and Tim Armstrong (CEO) and Bud **, head of billing, should be ashamed of their selves for the way this has been handled. Corporate America screwing the little guy, after finding out about their mistake, is still happening. Deal with AOL.

My mom was charged for 5 years of service when she didn't have a computer. We canceled her account over 5 years ago and didn't realize until she got sick that AOL still automatically took the payment out of her account. She's 81 and on a fixed income. I'm still trying to her money back.

I have found myself in AOL hell. In 2005, I cancelled my AOL account. Now I have lived out of the country for the past couple of years. I was looking over my old bank statements and noticed a debit on my account for the same time each month. I contacted my bank and they confirmed the information on my bank statement. My account was debited on the first of each month for $32.90 for over 16 months.
When I contacted the AOL customer service center, they had my address, my screen name and my home number. They also confirmed that my account had been closed since 2005. But they could not confirm my AOL account number. I was told they do not have that information in the customer service center. I was then given an address to write to where I can send my bank statements and my letter of complaint. I was told to send the bank statement as proof of the debit from my account. When I asked for a telephone number to the address that I had been given, I was told they do not have one. I am very reluctant to send my bank account info to an address that I cannot confirm by having a contact phone number. Please help.

I had AOL on my PC. I purchased another PC for my husband. When i called to connect the AOL on his, I was told that I had to pay for his account also. That was in 2005. I have been paying it ever since.
Lately, I was told by an AOL employee that I did not need to pay for the second account. I could have up to 7 screen names or 3 PCs on my account. i wanted them to reimburse me the money that I was wrongfully charged plus interest, being it was on a credit card.

I have not only been double billed, but have been billed for$ 25.90 four times on the same date and on 1 statement! As all the rest (and I mean since 2003), I only have 1 account! On July 5, 2011, I spent about 1 hour on the phone with Bobby **. After talking to him and getting all info to be sent to the AOL Fraud Dept., he kept telling me that I had more than one account, which is not true. I mailed appropriate statement info, and also requested that from that date on, I insist that my AOL bill be mailed (as paper bill) to my home address. He also told me to compensate for the "troubles", I would receive a free month of AOL! Wow! But as my most recent statement, they are still over charging 3 times this statement. We should do something about this!

I was double-billed by AOL for at least three years. I didn't notice it for quite some time. I did not keep all my statement of accounts from my bank but when I noticed, I then checked back from the ones I had saved. I then contacted my bank to put a stop on anything AOL charged me. I did this in Nov. 2010.
Also, each time I spoke to AOL, they stated they had no record of the situation. I talked to my employer, General Motors, and they told me I should be getting a discount from AOL. They billed me on 3-31-07 in the amount of $10, on 12-31-07 in the amount of $12 and $18.95; on 3-31-08, 4-30-08, 5-31-08, 7-31-08, etc., all in the amount of $12 and $18.95.
AOL, in Dec. 2010, sent two separate "urgent" statements and two different account numbers: 0846690287 stating I owed them $37.98 and account no. 0135823963 saying I owed an additional $37.90 and to call them at 1-866-859-0176. I called the number and stated that I did not owe the money and that they owed me at least three years for double-dipping. I then looked up on the computer and found the executive VP of the general counsel named Julie ** and sent her a registered letter of complaint on 4-19-11 stating my problems I have had with AOL. Her office is: AOL Legal Dept., 14th floor, 40 E. 52nd St., N.Y., N.Y. 10022. I received the letter back stating, "Addressee Unknown".

I was double billed for 18 months for membership in AOL. They did it in a way that sometimes only one appeared in my statement! When I finally tracked down the issue, I called and they said I signed up for two accounts (I never did). I asked about the one the supposedly "made up" and how much activity was on that account. I was told it was never used. They told me I had signed up (lie) and I am responsible.

On July 29, 2010, I received an email from the billing manager for AOL. This email states that my annual payment for my membership would be debited in ten days for $246. It states that I could change my billing method, change my plan of service or cancel within that 10-day period. I received this email at 5:30PM. I immediately called their customer care number provided in this email. When the woman answered, she verified my account and asked what she could do for me. I told her I wanted to cancel my active membership. She informed me that she could not do that because my account was already in the process of having the money removed. When I read her the email, she said I would have to wait for them to get the money then I could request a refund.
I requested to speak with a manger and was told there was nothing a manager could do for me. After 45 minutes, a man who called himself Alex identified himself as the floor manger. I once again explained the situation and he said nothing could be done. After pressuring him, he provided a cancellation number and said I would receive a cancellation notice within ten days. The next day, July 30, 2010, I received that email stating my membership account had been canceled on July 29. Since then, AOL has hit my account four times attempting to withdraw $246; each time, causing an overdraft fee. After each time, I have contacted their customer care center and attempted to resolve this. Each time, they wanted to refund me $246 and I would explain they did not owe me that amount. I wanted to be reimbursed the overdraft fees.
On August 31, 2010, they once again attempted to remove $246. So I provided copies of everything to my bank and paid for stop payment from AOL. Since then, I have received two demands for payment notices and a threat of cancellation of services (which have already been canceled). Now today, I received a call from AOL telling me that I am a customer in good standing and my membership has been stopped, but I still have free AOL mail and I owe them $246. I was also informed that a stop payment with my bank will not keep them from getting their money. Then in the very next breath, I was offered a sixty percent discount if I would reactivate my membership. I informed this person that they would not get a penny from me. So I am in the process of canceling all medical appointment and prescriptions so I can begin the fight. I would like to hear from lawyers who can assist with this. I am attempting both personal and class action suits. Help please.

AOL has double billed me on many occasions. I have been with them over 6 years. They never give me my money back. They credit me the difference or swear I enlisted for a separate account, so it is my responsibility. I have never gotten a refund. They bill 2 times per month, the first part and towards the end. When I threatened to quit them, they gave me a discounted rate of $5.00 then raised it to $11.99 without my permission. If you don't study your checking account religiously, they'll scam you.

They have been double billing me for a long time. I thought that an earlier complaint resolved this. It is difficult to make satisfactory contact with them and when I get through to someone, they are useless. I see online that there have been many complaints like this. My overbilling is in the hundreds of dollars range. Would going to AOL personally, which would be a hardship for me, make any difference? They make it hard to lodge timely complaints and I suspect many people give up and keep paying. I just retired and can't afford to take a loss like this. I'll have to give up online service and other things to recoup the difference.

My account has been doubled billed for seven years totaling $2800. I am still a user of AOL. I reported the duplicate billing and got a runaround. I was asked to provide proof. As recently as last month, duplicate billing continues.

Today, I got message informing me to switch to a different account. I have only one account associated with my name since I live alone. By getting this message, I feel like I am being double-billed even though I have closed all previous accounts with this crooked company. In late February, it took out $9.99 on a closed account, and ten days later, it took out another $9.99 for the same closed account. On March 26, AOL cancelled my current account which I reopened the following day. I was told by its automatic telephone system my next billing date would not be until April 27. I was doing research on my checking account for another situation when I noticed AOL immediately took $11.99 out of my account on the approximate or same day I reopened my current AOL account.
I tried to resolve these matters only to have met opposition from a Middle-Eastern who could not understand simple English regardless how many times I stated the same information to him. I got fed up repeating myself so I ended that call.
I am frankly tired of AOL's double-billing methods and not being able to speak to an American about American business concerning my AOL account. I want what is rightfully mine nothing more, nothing less.

AOL has deducted an unauthorized amount from my husband's checking account since October 2008. The fee changed from $11.95 to $25.90 and my husband has not noticed. The increase was never authorized or explained. Calling customer service gets you someone who is reading scripted instructions and those instructions indicate that the only way the situation can be rectified is to write to the address above and maybe a refund can be given. I have cancelled paid membership effective 04/2010 because all we've ever used AOL for is email. Supposedly there is no way you can talk to Billing via telephone.

Since 2005 AOL has been double billing me for a single account. They have charged my American Express account $25.90 per month and my personal checking account $ 14.95 per month. I recently cancelled AOL and was told I still owe them $ 59.80 to close my account. If I did not send them a check for this amount, they would be "forced to assign the account to a collection agency." Reluctantly, I sent them a check for the amount which they promptly cashed on January 26th of this year.
On February 18th I received another notification that my account was overdue. I promptly called the Collection Department phone number and was told that they had no record of my check. I said I would be happy to fax them a copy of my cancelled check so the woman gave me a fax number. I spent time on Sunday putting together my paperwork and faxing it to the number. On Monday morning I phoned the collections department to inquire about whether they had received my fax and the woman said they didn't receive faxes there they were an office in Europe. So she looked at my account and it still showed up as being delinquent. I asked for the phone number of billing operations and services, which was the office of the fax number in Vienna, Virginia; however, she would not give it to me.
I called the AOL fraud department and was given the run around for a while until they had no choice to agree that they had been double charging me for a long time. They said that a fraud had been committed and assigned me a fraud claim number. They said they would send me an affidavit to fill out. I have yet to see the affidavit and as I read online it seems as though this is AOL's modus operandi. If I don't get some results from them very soon, I am thinking of contacting the Attorney General to see what can be done. The consequence to date is $1581.80 that I know of but probably more since my AMEX records only go back to 2005.

I have filed a lawsuit with the State of Minnesota for my double billing. I have been double-billed for over four years without my knowledge. They do not put the AOL service on your account.

I cancelled AOL in July 2009 when I got Satellite. I Talk could never a live person so had to cancell by email to AOL. All of a sudden I have been charged $74.70 on my bank account. I called the number listed on the bank charge "TWX*AOL SERVICE 120 800-827-6364 NYUS" I was told I had two accounts and they have not been able to bill me since July but they kept trying and it finally went through. What a bunch of bull.Said they could not refund me the money that I had to file a complaint and that had to by letter. my ref number is 937813024-4516 Said they would cancell as of today and by the way, I will get charged for 14 days for Dec. Can't believe a company like AOL operates like that. I tried to cancell a couple of years ago (which took me forever to get to anyone) and then they offered me a cheaper rate of 9.99 for the same thing I had been paying $25 for ever. How can the get away with this? I want a refund of $74.70.

AOL Double charged me for over 4 years. When I spoke to them about it they wouldn't talk to me unless I gave them my credit card number. When I gave it they said that is incorrect and wouldn't speak to me further. I had to tell my credit card company to quit paying them. They are now trying to collect from me. My credit card was double billed and I couln't keep up with it. I incurred many late fees. I think someone needs to go to prison.

I was double billed by AOL for 8 yrs! I had a business and my accountant didn't pick up on it. After I had her close my AOL account, when I sold my business, I noticed- months later, that I was still getting billed by AOL. I called them and they said that I had had an account with the email using my full name. I never created that email address. I only created Planedana, and a few others, under my one account but never using my full name. I finally stopped that in April of 09. $2700 later. Is there anything I can do to get this money back? Would be great to know! How dare they-
Alliance- an insurance co, that I chose NOT to go with after giving them checks to switch insurance companies, also has been charging me $10.00 a month from my checking account, even though I never went with their service- only out $50. Glad I caught it now, my bank will try to get back 3 months of the charges.
Let me know if there is something I can do about AOL. I just found out that there was a class action law suit against them and how do I get on board? Thank you-

The action alleges that subscribers who maintain multiple screen names on their AOL account have unknowingly had those screen names "spun-off" into individual separate accounts. AOL then automatically bills the subscriber's credit card or bank account the normal $23.90 monthly subscription fee for this spun-off account. Oftentimes it has taken months for subscribers to find the problem, because AOL has allegedly intentionally manipulated the billing cycle for the spun-off accounts in order to make it appear that the charges are for different billing cycles.

Beware of AOL billing, they like to double bill you and if you cancel your account, watch your billing information because they will bill you again after you have cancelled. AOL offers free email since 2006 I found out today, so why are they charging anyone at all?

My situation is that AOL double billed me on my account. I have one computer and this has been going on for over a year. My service is $26.95. About three days later, I got a debit from my bank for $32.90. What can I do about this and what is my possibility of reimbursement? I also need phone numbers so I can call this and let them know how I feel about this. Thank you.

Well we received a bill from Time Warner for $86.? and my husband told that he already paid it, so we looked at our bank statements and noticed we were being charged from TWC and TWX AOL we looked back a few more months and noticed that it kept on going back further and further all the way back to August of 2007. In total they owe us $569.80 but refuse to pay! We went to Time Warner they said to call AOL nether helped then we called AOL fraud and she was worse. This is ridiculous! I am so mad!

When I received my bank statement I saw that I was being billed for 2 accounts. I only ave one account. When I telephoned AOL they said they would send me a form to fill out regarding fraud and when I filled this out and mailed it back I 'might' be able to get a refund regarding some type of fraud. This is an AOL error plain and simple.
Being on social security every penny counts and this is not the first time I've been deceived and over-billed significantly by AOL.

This is regarding the AOL DOUBLE BILLING They were DOUBLE BILLING me for almost 2.5 years and I just notice back around January of 2009 because at first I thought maybe someone was using my acct. When I inquired they would not tell me but then I started pulling my statements from my bank acct and discovered this. I pulled all my statements for a year. AOL stated that their systems only go back as far as six months. I sent them copies of my statement for a year and then I discovered even FARTHER BACK from 2009 to 2006.
I got all this stuff together made copies and HIGHLIGHTED THESE DOUBLE AND SOMETIMES TRIPLE BILLING AND SOME FOR DIFFERENT AMOUNTS. All of this came to $1018.16 but they said $957.00 They also stated that this money would be CREDITED BACK to MY ACCOUNT in 10-14 days. I spoke with RYAN OF AOL FRAUD DEPT on March 6 2009 about 10:00 a.m. regarding the money being CREDIT BACK TO MY ACCOUNT.
I am HAPPY TO SAY THAT THE MONEY HAS BEEN RETURN BACK TO MY ACCOUNT. I will be changing internet services soon. IF YOU HAVE YOUR STATEMENTS MAKE COPIES AND MAIL THEM TO THEM IN A MANILA ENVELOPE TIGHTLY SEALED OR CERTIFIED MAIL TO THE FRAUD DEPT AT: AOL FRAUD DEPT; STERLING VA 20165-8804 but first let them fax or send you the letter because it has a confirmation number on it that you will need to be identified

AOL double billed me (for a second account that I, or anyone I know, did not create) for a total of about $250. This was between the fall of 2003 and spring of 2005. The only reason I found out about this was I called to cancel my AOL account(because I wasn't using it anyhow). I was asked 'which account I wanted to cancel', and then found out that I had two (which surprised me mightily). The second one was a screen name and password that I wouldn't have picked in a million years. Of course I cancelled both accounts and demanded my money back for the bogus one. The guy first had the b***s to say my kids probably opened the second one- I told him no way did that happen. Then he told me to write to some address and ask for my money back. I did that, and I never saw a dime. I never pursued it any further- I figured the less I had to do with those slimy jerks, the better. Anyhow, I see that I'm not the only poor soul who has been victimized. I hope they pay through the nose and go to jail for what they've done.

I have been double billed for years for AOL service for me and my husband. We only have one account. Attempts to contact the company by phone . . they say we do not have an account with them. We tried contacting them through the internet and they have no customer service web site.
The overbilling is $14.95 per month for five years or about $900. I do not want an attorney to contact me because I am an attorney.

AOL has been double billing me for several months. I'm not able to load AOL on two different computers using the same account without the double billing.

was double billed for years before i found out.cant get any good response from them. getting no action.
extra 32.00 per month for about 3 or 4 years

They keep billing me possibly double billing for a closed out account. When I call they say they don't even have that credit card on file. But I am looking right at the bill. Then they want me to fax my credit card information to them. I do not trust faxing private information like that out for anyone to pick up. They will not quit billing me. They said maybe someone was committing fraud. The only ones that could be doing that would be them. AOL is the one reaping the benefits every month.
I have spent countless hours speaking to many represenatives and supervisors about this to no avail. I am distraught over this because I am a single parent and even though I have a job I do not make much money. This amount adds up and causes a stran on me. Especially since I am not receiving the service.

My Aol bill should only be 9.99 but they r charging me 16.99 and i cant talk to a preson to find out why

They have been double billing me for months. The first bill is at the beginning of the month, and the second is at the end. I never paid to much attention until recently I noticed it was happening every month, I taught the bill was just for the next month. So I called them and was told I opened another account with a screen name I never heard of, not to mention my security question was a name of my Pet, which I never had. They had always advertise that you get additional screen names for free, which I also see is not the case. To add insult to injury they had the nerve to try to get me to sign up for their other services. They would not even talk about giving a refund. I had been with AOL for over 10 years, but today I find they are a rip off company.
I can't even explain what this does to a person. This food from my family. I bill I could have paid, but firgured I did not have enough money to cover it because Aol kept riping me off.

I discovered last month I was being double-billed by this company. With every attempt to correct this problem, this company took it to mean it was another account being open with the same identical screen name to be used for each account to be billed to the same payment method without stopping to realize the person could be have software difficulties and that particular attempt was not an actual attempt to set up a seperate account with the same screen name. This practice from this company needs to be stopped and stop now since it has been doing a great deal longer than it should have been allow to do this to people. I have made a former complaint with that particular area's BBB, but it has not done anything. You are my last chance to resolve this matter. PLEASE HELP ME!
The following E-mail was precisely copied and pasted by me that was sent to me concerning this matter. Please note the date of this E-mail and what is states about a 10-day refund time frame. While you are doing so, please keep in mind I am using my debit card to pay this monthly fee.

Total damage for this current round of being double-billed equals to $51.80. I would like to have refund immediated since it going on one month that I have called this company and ask for a complete refund for both accounts and close one accounts during that call.

AOL Continues to bill my account twice a month but when I called; they said they only show one billing per month and gave me the above address and told me to send copies of my account log to them to show this. To me this only means that they will drag this out via mail service.

I was double billed by AOL through their deceptive scheme involving multiple screen names. I was double billed for for a spin-off sub account.
I lost several hundred dollars before discovering I had been scanned.

Aol Internet has been double charging me for the aol services for the past three or four months, and I have tried talking to people there but all I have been told is that I have two screennames which I don't have. This is getting very frustating for me.
I am a senior citizen on disability payments which are not much money. I suffer from chronic asthma, which has been exacerbated by the stress of this problem. Sometimes because of the overcharging I have had bounced checks of other household bills. This is not fair and I would like to have money returned or not to have double billing anymore. I am about to cancel Aol and I hope that I can.

We are being double billed by AOL. We pay for AOL thru road runner high speed and billed by AOL for the same service. They refuse to acknoledge this and are threating to stop service. We have been paying double since 2006 because of a credit card billing we didn't catch until recently.
About $1500.00 worth of billing over charges.

They have been double charging me for 2 separate screen names for the past 3 years. I did not open two accounts even though they're saying I did.
Over $800 in additional charges that I did not realize I was paying. I called today to get my money back & they said it was my fault.

I have been a member of AOL from May 1997 to the present. I changed PCs in March 2008 and since then I have been double billed on 5 May for $32.90, on 12 May for $65.80, 3 June for $32.90, 9 June for $32.90, 30 June for $32.90, 3 July for $32.90, 30 July for $32.90, 3 September for $32.90 and 30 September for $32.90.
These erroneous charges and double billings are causing undue stress that could very easily result in overdrafts and damage to my credit standing.

they double billed me numerous times and billed for services that I never requested. I have just cancelled, and will be interested to see if they charge me for this month.
I was unemployed for 3 months, thery have charged hundreds of dollars over the past 3 years that could have been used to pay my mortgage and credit card. My credit was poorly affected.

I have tried numerous of time to cancel my AOL membership. The people I talk to tell me I have to cancel online. Why cant I over the phone? Last month my bank records had 3 different places where aol had taken out money. 2 for $25.90 and 1 for $77.70. This was for the month of Sep.08. For the month of Oct.08 they have charged me twice. Both in the amount of $25.90. I only have one membership. Why are they charging me twice a month? And they told me that the charge of $77.70 was late carges. How is it late? It is taken out of my account...Please Help I really want to cancel my membership.
It feels like I'm getting robbed.

AOL double billing scheme from February 2006-September 2008. Company admitted double membership with one membership never accessed. Company supervisor (alvin) refused to reimburse us claming 90 day policy.
February 2006-September 2008 approx $715.

AOL began double billing us from february 24,2006 when I received a new computer and signed that new computer up for membership with aol. On september 2008 I noticed the double billing and contacted the supervisor at aol--Alvin in which he acknowledged that account had never been accessed. I spoke with Alvin who would not divulge his last name. I waited over 90 minutes to speak with a supervisor who stated the company policy was to only reimburse for the last 90 days. So in essence for 2-1/2 years I was paying for a service I never received.
$23.90 monthly from February 2006-September 2008 approximately $715.

AOL has been Double sometimes Tripling our monthly charges. If we change our Credit Card number they find the new one. I have called on Several Occasions to try and resolve this and you can not get an answer or anyone to help you. Each time you call you think it is finally taken care of and then no changes are made. I have called at least 6 times over the past two plus years to try and get credited for the past charges but no one seems to have authority to do that. I can never get a Supervisor or Manager on the phone, I am told that they are always busy. We would like to Cancel AOL all together and go to a different Browser but my husband is worried that we will never get our money back.
AOL owes us a Credit of over $2,500.00. This is a business visa that is literally draining us. We have other business to conduct on this card. I have written down some names and service numbers of the employees that I have spoken to but this does no good. Please help me with a contact person to file a Major Complaint with.

I have been double billed by AOL for the past three to four years
Over $1000.00 in inappropriate charges

continuing to bill credit card on two separate occassions after discontinuing service two years ago. I have bill billed on my credit card for 4x = approx. $100.00

i am being charged for aol on both my phone bill and bank statement
i am having a great deal of trouble paying my regular bills and gas i dont need to pay twice for a internet bill this is very hard to resolve you talk to some one and you think it has been taking care of but the next month your charged again and you never get back to the same person you talked to the first time

Aol has been double billing me for at least the last two years. I did call them about Fur months ago and got the run around. I just checked my June credit card statement and they are still double illing

I have hade the aforementioned AOL account for over 10 years. I am not terrible computer literate, so when I bought a new computer, I was not sure how to transfer the account from my old computer to the new one. Through the new computer software, I opened a second account. In December 2006 I called AOL and finally cancelled the 2nd account.
Fastforward to May 2007. I usually notice an automatic payment to AOL on my bank account at the end of the month. In may I noticed one on May 7. I assumed they were just late in taking the money out of my account. On May 28, another $25.90 was taken out of my account. Another on June 9 and again on June 30. Checking back as far as my checking account online would show, AOL has been double billing me at least since March 2008.
I called AOL and spoke with Jane. She acknowledged I had called in December 2006 but had no record of me cancelling the second account. She said she would cancel the account. She refused to do anything about the double billing. At my request she refered me to the floor supervisor, John, who said as well, they could do nothing to help me. I contacted my bank and was advised that the only way to stop AOL from taking money out of my account was to cancel the card and have it reissued.
Since my bank statement is available only to March 2008, I can only say for sure, I have had $103.60 taken from my account. However it is most likely that AOL has taken $466.20 from my checking account for a closed account.

I was paying for AOL dial up from 2002 upt until March 15,2006. I switched over to Time Warner (Broadband)of which includes AOL in it's services. This bill is paid by mail. Other bills are paid electronically automatically. Aol continued to bill me. Recently i transferred over balance of a cred. card to one with lower rate. Shortly after i rec'd letter from AOL stating i owe for service of June- as cred. card on file was invalid. I called only to find out AOL had been billing me (for dial up which i had had since early Mar2006-and they've been billing (DOUBLE BILLING ) me up until June 08 (which i wouldn't have known had i not changed cred. card)- meanwhile AOL service had been being paid to Time warner for Broadband.
I called AOL after reading the letter-and wanted to speak to a superior regarding a refund. I was told that AOL does not give refunds... and then i surfed the web only to find that COUNTLESS NUMBERS HAVE BEEN VICTIMIZED BY AOL - FOR SUCH FRAUDULANT BUSINESS PRACTICES OF DOUBLE BILLING. They owe me from Mar2006 up to June2008
i have Heart failure - and Lung Disease.. with High blood Pressure.. I'm confined to my home- and am in need of Oxygen - the aggravation that a company like AOL has been getting away with this for many many years only made me even sicker. I want my money back- WITH INTEREST and want to see them penalized under the scrutiny of an unbiased watchdog!

aol has been double billing me for over a year.
this has caused numerous problems in financing and budgeting monthly bills.

I was double billed for almost a year. I cancelled my credit card to stop the automatic billing and they used my other card (one I have given them the number of but no longer used b/c of the high interest rate) and they billed that card without my permission.
Stress - I was already not making enough money and was working 2 jobs - I needed the internet to work my second job typing - my life was already miserable and AOL only made things worse.

Today 6/10/08 I was reviewing my bank account with municiple credit union when I noticed I was charged twice for my aol account. One charge was for 25.90 and the opther was for 32.90. So I called and questioned why I was double charged and why two different fees. I was advised to call my bank and get copies of my staement and fax to aol and to send a letter requesting of them not to charge my account the fee of 32.90 which I should not had been charged in the first place. Then to have my bank call their company in regards.
I continued to look at my account in the previous months to see if this occured before and come to find I went as far back as April 4,2007. I need to go further but can only do it when I get to the bank.
I'm a single mom of two every penny counts when raising two boys alone. I've lost over 1,000. dollars in the brief calculations I did and still need to look further back to see where it started.

I have been dealing with AOl double and triple billing me since 2003 I cannot even tell you the amount of money they have stolen from my checking account. I was told by AOL to submit all my bank records to prove they were even billing me, I did at my expense. Finally in 2006 they sent me notice that I will be credited 3 months because that is all aol allows. NEvermind I had been disputing it since 2003.
On 2006 the account was again cancelled by me. Now here we are in 2008 and I am still being double billed monthly. I get another representative telling me I wil be credited my money back in 7-10 days Guess what when I call to check on the status of my credit NOTHING all a lie.
The time and frustration and stress of money is overwhelming I have two kids and it is hard enough to support them with out someone stealing my money every month

I am being double billed on my aol account for many months. I just noticed two amounts when looking at my bank statement while preparing my taxes. After reading all of the complaints I am freaking out a bit because it seems like AOL is not refunding any money to anyone. In my case, the amount ranges between $900.00 and $1000.00 which is a huge amount for anyone these days. When I called the live help, they gave me the same complaint number that is given to everyone. They also said that I had two accounts. I never authorized two accounts and I have been on aol since 1998.
Not only will this end up costing me $900.00-$1000.00, if I do not get a refund it will be very stressful. The work hours that I will need to spend notifying both my personal and professional contacts know that I am not an aol member is daunting.

AOL double billed me on my account and said that they did not offer me a 30 day free trial, however; I still have the package with the promotion details. Then, they told me that they billed a month ahead of time and refused to credit back my account for the month of June they billed for when I cancelled my service today, May 27, 2008.
They have done this before and lured me back by offering a free 30 day trial period. I signed for the account Feb. 21, 2008 and was suppose to have a 30 day trial period- they charged my account March 4, 2008, April 2, 2008, April 23, 2008 and May 23, 2008 at $9.95 per charge.
AOL has continued to double bill my checking account when I only signed for one account with no other screen names or additional users.$29.95 is the overage, without giving me notice or my authorization.

I had encounted a problem with America Online with a overcharged billing error. As of May, 2005 AOL begins deducting two to three payments a month out of my account. Some months two payment was taken out and other three payment was deducted. This transaction went on for appromately one year before I discover that this money was taken out of my account.
I called AOL I was told by Janiser by phone that she will check into this matter and call me back. I never received a response from AOL. MY bank discontinue the deduction from AOL in May, 2006. Due to AOL illegal bank account, I was charged $800.00 over the amount due them. This was caused by AOL making multiple deductions from my account a month . While thery should have only made one debit transaction.
The damages that AOL caused me was multiple overdrafts in my bank acount. This cause me stress and hardship to on my other bills.

They have been double debiting my account each month for at least the last 7 or more years. I've asked for my bank not to allow the transaction, but it does no good. I want to stop this. Can you help me with this? I am tired of paying for a service I haven't had or used in 7 or more years. I don't even live in state or the house where I had the service or the phoneline anymore to which it was connected. The reason I had it was so my daughter could do research for school. That was when she was in junior high. She is now in her junior year of college. I am a single mom and do not currently have a job. This is causing problems with my bank because I do not have sufficent funds to cover the double debit to my account. HELP ME PLEASE!!!
They are withdrawing $32.90 twice a month from my account. I don't have and can't afford $65.80 each month. As I mentioned above this has been going on for at least 7 more years. I think I have lost enough money.

I have had funds withdrawn from my account by AOl for the past 7 years against my wishes. AOL have also double billed (twice monthly) and no services have been recieved.
It is possible that over $5000.00 has been withdrawn from my acount over the past 7 years against my will. I have proof that $690.80 was withdrawn from my account against my will from May 24th 2007 through April 24th, 2008.

I noticed that I was being billed by AOL for service that I had not been receiving since march 2007. When I called to get a credit the customer service department said that I could not but that I would receive a form in the mail to complete. I had 30 days to complete the form. The form has not arrived to my address and 30 days will be up shortly. I looked at my March bill and not only were the funds not credited I was double billed for March 2008!
The financial damage is $4.95 per month for 14 months.

AOL has been double billing me for years. I have called them a dozen times and they still do nothing. AOL owes me about $930. How do I get my money back?

I opened my bank statement 3/3/08 and saw a $25.90 amount on the statement which shouldn't have been there for AOL. I've HAD FREE AOL service through my Time Warner Roadrunner Service for over a year. So I called them and got some foreigner WOMAN named Grace who I couldn't understand. Since I usually had someone else balance my bank statement, little did I know this amount had been on my statement for at least 5 months. It formerly had been included in my TW bill with no problems. I told them to take the amounts off. She said she could take two off. I later found out she only took off one. Two days later I get a letter saying it was taken off, but I was still going to be charged that same amount despite a conversation that I said NO, absolutely Not. I live on disability. I can't pay Time Warner $44.96 and AOL $25.90 for simple internet service. The next guy also sounded like he was from Pakistan and was hard to understand. He finally set up the $9.99 plan. He kept saying I never called them to cancel them when I went with Time Warner. How come I didn't get billed for over a year then?
And then when I called Time Warner, the guy there said it was my responsibility to call and cancel AOL. I find this absurd, since I was offered this deal...you know this 'DEAL' with both of them PARTICIPATING. If someone drops out of the deal, they have to TELL me I have to contact AOL. I don't just magically know this. A letter telling me this would have been nice. The last person I talk to at AOL was the nastiest. I hate AOL now. The next time I move next summer, I'm fairly certain that after almost 10 years of being a customer, I'll just be cutting them loose. They seem to try to break you down by keeping you on phone hold for a long time.
I basically lost close to $150 out of my bank account between October 2007 and February 2008. And I'm disabled. I live on $800/mo. I get Section 8 and food stamps. I go to food pantries. I don't appreciate having people basically stealing money out of my bank account without permission and me not having any kind of retribution.

I have emailed them several times, as they are double billing me each month for $32.90. I have contacted my Comerica where my account is and asked them not to honor their request for drafts from my account. When I try to locate the 800 number, it is no where to be found on their pages. I contacted them today, March 4, 2008, again. I spoke to Rep. Ivy and Roger her supervisor. Ivy transfered me because she could not handle my request for a refund on the double billing. I requested a refund and to have my service canceled due to the over billing. Roger told me that AOL cannot handle the refund, verbatim. I am filing this complaint due to the monies that are coming out of my checking account, and they will not stop taking funds out of my account. I wish to cancel the service which has been deleted from my computer over the last 6 months. I plan on contacting the Federal Trade Commission as well as the BBB in Southeastern Michigan.
My instructors in classes in the Universities I attend have all complained of AOL's services and practices of not being able to delete or cancel. AOL sends emails or pop-ups to get you to sign back on. It does not eliminate your name or phone number or another account in that name at that address. I am livid, and I want my refund and for AOL to please stop taking money out of my account!
They have cost me over $300.00 in overdrafts in my account which was for a prescription which I had to pay for. They billed me four times within four weeks alone, on Feb. 1, 5, 27 and March 2.

I have received emails from AOL indicating charges of $0.00. For years I assumed I had free service. I saw on my credit card that I was just billed over $200 for service. I called. They said I never called them to say I had broadband and to cancel my service. I explained I had no reason to as my email bills were zero. They said I could keep my AOL service and email for free since I had broadband, but I had to ask. They refused to send me copies of old emails (last 12 years) indicating my charges. They have been charging my credit card for years. I am sure thousands of other people are eligible for free AOL since they have broadband but have not asked.

My American Express card was billed by AOL for $25.00 for TWX*IIA AIM CALL OUT on 12/31/07, and I never signed up for this service or authorized this charge.
I contacted both AOL and my credit card company. My credit card company has put the charge on hold and is investigating it. AOL sent me a form to complete and send back.

Our hard drive blew and could not be fixed. We bought a new system. Aol user ID and password would not work or allow us access. We had to create new account with new ID and password. This was in 2003. AOL has been charging my credit card for both accounts $23.90 per month. Have called several phone numbers from New York to Florida to cancel old account. They have been double billing me for 5 years. I finally canceled my credit card and got a new one to make them stop. Now they are sending letters stating they are assigning this account to a collections agency. I called them again and was told I have to pay or it will go against my credit. I told them how about paying me back the $1,434.00 charged to my credit card. This was contested with credit card company many times, but AOL always seems to get around the system.
I was over charged $1,424.00 by AOL.

Aol was charging me $6.00 to pay my bill with my checking account. I was using a credit card, but they sent me a e-mail stating that I need to give update information, so I did. At no time did they tell me that there was a charge for checking.
I kept calling about the price that needed to be $9.95 and at no time did anyone say that there was a charge for checking. I will now look for another company, but I feel they are ripping the consumers off by not giving information.

I canceled my AOL account over 5 years ago but was continued to be charged for some secondary account that I never used. I attempted to cancel that and collect a refund. That account was canceled and it reverted back to my main screen name account that I had canceled years before and started charging me again. This has been going on for years and I cannot get them to stop billing me!
$9.95 x 60 months is $597 that they have taken from my bank account.

I found out by my bank that AOL was charging me 3 times in one month and 2 times in 2 months, so I called AOL on the phone and was told that it was not their fault, that it was another person using my info to have an account. But no one is to have an account except me. And the rep. who I was talking to refused to let me out of AOL or to reimburse me for all the charges and the bank fees. I only had signed up with AOL for a 3-month free trial period, and after that 3 month time they would not let me on my on line account.
AOL has taken six charges out of $32.90, and has caused four $35 overdraft fees.

I have been double billed by AOL 12/3/2007 and 12/31/2007. My billing date is supposedly 1/18. I have exhuasted myself tonight looking for a telephone number or online customer support for billing concerns for AOL. There are NONE. That is unbelievable to not have billing support for your own company. It isn't honest.
At this moment I am having anger management issues and potential physical damage to my computer.

I used AOL as my internet provider for a number of years with no problems, then all of a sudden an additional charge of $4.95 was being debited from my account every month for something called AOL premium services. It took me 6 months of phone calls and emails to get someone to cancel the premium service and issue a refund; this was Nov. '07. Then in Dec. '07 I canceled my AOL service completely, and of course I was billed again for AOL premium service. I have contacted AOL over a dozen times to get a refund again, and cancel this charge, but absolutely no one will help.
Since canceling my AOL service on December 4, 2007 (my service expired on December 11, 2007), my checking account has been billed $4.95 twice for AOL premium service.

Since Aug. 2006 through Nov 12, 2007, I have been double billed $25.90 for services. I canceled AOL Services and set up internet services with Bellsouth (now AT&T) on Dec. 12, 2006. After finding this out, I received another cancellation number from them, and a month later (Jan. 2008) found another charge on my account of $25.90. The Rep I spoke to (Ruskin Anto) said that I had two accounts. Why would I have two accounts? He stated he would refund me for only the last 2 payments and said that was their limit. (which has been done as of 1/16/08). There are many discrepancies in all this. I have all documentation and bank statements to prove withdrawals twice a month. I've since then written a letter to the billing dept with cc to the Corporate Office and a letter to Governor Charlie Crist's office.
I found on the internet where AOL settled Florida fraud charges, and the investigating attorney was Gov Charlie Crist. In the last paragraph of this settlement it stated: AOL has agreed to provide refunds, credits and debt forgiveness to all eligible Florida consumers who file a complaint with the company. I also saw where other states had the problems, also. Now, I'm waiting. Of course there is a lot more to my story. When I wrote this letter I had no idea I had been double charged. I decided to search out a few things on my account going back to 2006 and found it. I've learned a very, very valuable lesson in all of this. Review and study my accounts daily.
They've taken away hundreds of dollars from me that I was certainly in need of. It belongs to me ,and I need it returned.

I bought new computer in Jan '07. It had free 90 day trial for AOL .If you cancel before 90 days it was supposed to be free. Now AOL is saying I owe them money and turning me into collections--Allied Credit, I believe they said. My credit is excellent. Can they do this?

I never signed up for AOL,and they charged my bank acct. I went to my bank and filed proper paperwork to have it removed. Then I received a bill from AOL. and I refused to pay it, only to then have collection calls start. I REFUSE to pay this; it has yet to show on my credit report, and I hope it doesn't. It's a shame I'll end up having to pay this to save my credit.
I was turned into collections; they could barely speak English when they called me.

I was with aol for 2 years. Then some months ago I got an email from them saying that as I was a valued customer my aol silver would go down from $17.99 a month to $14.99 a few months. After this I went over to talktalk phone and free broadband. I was asked to pay $74.95 as I entered a new contract with AOL, I was not aware of this at all. I told them that this was not mentioned and told them I had the original email they sent me. Within an hour, my emails were closed down along with all my important saved emails. Then the account was closed down altogether. I got a letter on the 10th of January 2008 saying that they have been trying to get hold of me for 2 months and I didnt respond. I didn't get any letters until 10th Jan 08. In the letter it said that if I didn't pay within 10 days it would be sent to their debt collecters agency. I phoned them on the 10th and they have already done it. They won't talk to me as it's not in their hands anymore. I explained I had 10 days in which to respond and they said hard luck, they have done it and sent it to debt collectors. I've sent 2 emails and they won't respond.
I've lost important emails containing codes for software I have on my pc, about 10 of them I can't replace.

I was being doubled billed $25.90 and $9.95 for the last 26 months.
I addressed this with AOL, who was not able to confirm what the double charging was for or what account; they referred me to completing a fraud form. I believe the paper process is time consuming with no compensation.

I was double charged for several years and they continued to bill my card even after the account was terminated.

I received a bill from AOL saying I owed them $104.00, and that I had went over the unlimted minutes! They started charging me $ 2.00 per minute. Then they withdrew from my checking account on, 12/06/2007. I called and talked to a representive who said that it was mistake and that she supposely deleted the charge of $104.00, saying it was a mistake and that all I had to pay was $9.95 per month.
One week later my account was closed by AOL and I received a letter two weeks later stating that I owed them the $104.00 and if I didn't pay them, that I would be put into collection. Now I am having trouble getting through to billing, and that they have a recording saying that all lines are busy, then they proceed to disconnect me. I am interested to look into class action suit against them.
I have much anger over this dealing and the taking of our money.

I have been double billed by an AOL for an account that was originally activated June 3, 2004 but canceled within the 30-day free trial period. In July 2006 this account was somehow re-activated, and I have been billed an additional $25.90 a month for service that was never used. There has been no activity on the account since it was reactivated. I called to inquire why I was being double billed several times, and was told that I was not being double billed. I sent a letter in July 07 with copies of all of my credit card statements to try to resolve the double billings and never heard from anyone or received any credit. It wasn't until I started reading online about other people that had double billing problems, that it dawned on me that maybe an old canceled account had somehow been reactivated.
I spoke with Teena thru the AOL online chat and she gave me instructions on how to cancel the account online which I did, but I need a refund on the charges that were billed to me in error. I need a refund in the amount of $466.20 for unused and unauthorized charges. I am sending another letter today requesting credit for the unauthorized charges but want to go on record with this complaint as it has been a very frustrating process.
Obviously $466.20 is a large amount to be charged without authorization, and the stress of having to deal with rude and unhelpful people who can't even speak English has been very frustrating. AOL should not be able to get away with this.

AOLcharges my checking account twice a month for different amounts and will not stop. I have paid hundreds of dollars since I canceled their service; I also have an account with a gym locally that is doing the same thing.
This has caused monetary hardship and mental hardship.

AOL has double billed me for October, November, and December, without warning or permission. I did NOT agree to this.

I have been billed for a past due amount that I do not owe. I was told my bank took money from AOL,so I have to pay it back. I know my bank did not take any money from AOL, they took money from my account due to another episode of AOL taking money from my account that they were not authorized to do. I was told this money is due them from 5 months ago, but I am only told this now. Something is wrong with this situation, and it isn't my bank, nor me. It is AOL.

On the 10th of Dec 07, I received an envelope with a po box number and a city name. There was no company name. My name and town were correct. The po box was not. I called the 800 number and asked who the account belonged to. It belonged to someone with my name in Illinois. It may be a nephew that I haven't talked to in years and have no desire to communicate with now. The lady I talked to had the nerve to ask me to call him. I told her positively not. After thinking about this, I concluded that AOL uses the U.S. phone book and sends over due notices to anyone with the name they are looking for. If I hadn't hated AOL all of my 72 years, I might have thought that this was something I owed and sent them $41.90. I wonder how many people are paying the fradulent bills?
It is upsetting for a retired person to have to go through this.

In November of 2003, my ex-husband and I separated. I called AOL to change the name on the account from his to my name since he no longer resided with me nor was he responsible for this bill. He then opened his own account through AOL at his new residence. For the past 4 years and 1 month I have been double-billed, once early in the month for the service under my name and again later in the month under his name. I was doing some investigating on another matter when I realized what has been going on. I called AOL and they have closed the his name account so that I would no longer be charged for this account but did not feel that I could retrieve any of the $1,600.00 that I have overpayed in the last 4+ years.
I have been fighting for the last 4 years to keep my head above water financially. This, obviously, didn't sink the ship but it surely hasn't helped the matter any.

I have had an account with AOL for eight years with unlimited usage. I have received e-mails from AOL about DSL now available in our area, over the years . Four months ago when I entered my telephone number it finally said the service was available so I signed up. Once I signed with Bellsouth Dsl, I was told the service would not be available until 10/05/2007. Aol said my plan would change to $9.95 a month . I was not told by AOL that I didn't need their service or that my plan had changed, and I would be charged $1.00 per minute for every minute that I went over the plan.
When I had a notice on my screen that I had exceeded my minutes I notified AOL that my plan should be unlimited minutes. I was told that the problem would be corrected. When I received my credit card bill I was billed $89.95. I went on line and had a conversation with an AOL Rep who said I was going to be charged another $89.95, but he would credit that bill and change my plan. I got my next credit card bill and the charges were on the card with no credit. I called back and got nowhere with the Rep. I just received my November bill and have been billed another $11.36. Where can I go for help?
The dollar value is now $111.36. AOL should pay for the mental stress and lack of sleep of dealing with this problem.

We canceled AOL in January 2007. We continue to be billed, twice a month for AOL service.
Year to date we are billed $259.00 and $259.00 again.

AOL has been very inconsistent with the date that they withdraw the monthly service fee from my checking account causing me to become overdrawn. In addition to this, twice they have billed me two times in one month. This happened in October '07 and July '07.
The first time I called about it they did not bill me the next month. They however would not fix the problem while I was on the phone. They insisted that I needed to resolve this through my financial institution. They also claimed not to have any record of double billing me in July. When it happened again in October, I called to cancel my subscription for the on-line service. They kept saying they could not find my account. Once they finally found it they denied billing me twice. After about a 1/2 hr. of persistence they finally admitted to billing me two times and blamed it on a technological error that had caused some members to be billed twice. They did not want me to cancel my subscription and continued to offer to lower my monthly fees. They finally canceled my on-line service. They said I would still be able to access my e-mail from another on-line provider for free. I'm waiting to see if I get any further bills. They did not refund my 2nd October payment.

I was an AOL customer for 9 years since my purchase of my first computer. When they offered DSL, I called to get it. (My dial-up bills were for $22 a month and change.)I was paying for DSLBroadband and a monthly total of approximately 55.00 a month for the last 2 1/2 years. I was having a lot of trouble the last 9 months and spent hours on the phone with different technicians going thru all the different remedy versions they recommended. All I remmber is calling every day and sitting at my computer going thru all sorts of solutions that didn't work.
Then one tech told me my computer was old, and that was the problem. I bought a new computer, and I still couldn't download a page. A computer tech came to my house and did a speed-test that tells you how fast the info is being received. To my amazement, he informed me I never had broadband to begin with. So, for more than 3 years AOL charged me for Broadband/DSL and I never had it.

I have been double billed by AOL for two separate rate plans. They were able to acquire my card number, from another bank account, probably from an online purchase because it is not the card number that I have set my AOL account with. I have been charged $53.85.

I am being doubled billed by AOL on my debit card. They will freeze my computer so I cannot get on, and they charge me 2 different prices.
This is making my account overdrawn and causing me not to be able to pay my bills on time because of the double billings.

I have been billed for two accounts even though I only opened one and canceled it before the 30-days free trial was up. Even after canceling the account I am still being billed. I was told I would get a refund but instead I keep receiving bills.
I have had to cancel my credit card to prevent them from billing it.

AOL is auto-drafting monthly fees of $30 out of my two different bank accounts.

I was a victim of AOL's double billing and "tough to cancel" scheme. I started asking friends if they had the same experience and discovered that everyone I asked had been double billed at the start of their account.

AOL has over charged my credit card. They charged me $109.95 one month and charged me $39.35 the next month. The first month I called them and they promised to refund the $100.00 that they over charged. They did not do as promised. The second month I called and complained about both months and demanded the service be cancelled. They now have told me that they will remove the $100.00 (again) and refuse to credit back the $30.00 on the second bill.

I have been over billed by AOL, and I am having to jump through hoops to get a refund. I am tired of dealing with rude customer service reps.
I have been over billed by $77.70. My checking account was overdrawn as a result, and I was charged two $35.00 over draft fees.

AOL is billing me every month for $109.95 when my bill is only $9.95 this causes a hardship on me as it takes them up to 3 billing cycles to refund my money. Plus I have to call many times to get to a representive that will talk to me.I also sent multiple E-Mails to them befor I get a refund. so far they have refused to take that false invoice off my account.
In many cases it causes a NSF charged on my Bank account,as I am on a very limited fixed income. I tried to cancel my account with them, but they ignored my request. So I am stuck repeating the same thing every month.

About three years ago I discovered that I was being billed for two accounts. After working it out I was promised a $300 refund that I never received.
Once again I have been billed, through aol on my new account, for things I did not order.

I had to cancel my bank card and have another re-issued. AOL charged me for two accounts instead of one.

I have been double billed. They even re-opened a closed account to re-bill me!
When I made a complaint they said they would only pay back two months. As yet they haven't done so.

I have been doubled billed by aol twice. Most recently when I was double billed they offered a refund. I never got the refund so I called aol again and was told the refund was denied.
Not only did they bill me twice in one month but they over charged by $5 on one of the months.
To keep my business, they gave me back the $5 but still I was left with an over charge of $9.99.

I was a victim of AOL's double billing and "tough to cancel" scheme.
I was overcharged $600 in fees and overdraft charges.

I canceled AOL service last year after discovering that I was being double billed. I have a cancellation fee on my account of $34 from 8/24/06.
Unfortunately I neglected to look at this secondary account closely and I just found out that they continued to bill me for an entire year. There is no way to get in touch with these clowns and I am very upset.

I was double billed for months by aol, as was my mother and father.
I remember setting up my account. On the first try it appeared that the transaction failed so I started over and the second application went through. The same thing happened when I set up my parent's service. Months later we realized we were both being double billed.
I started asking friends if they had the same experience and discovered that everyone I asked had been double billed at the start of their account. I accused AOL of deliberatley double charging and was hung up on. I never got any of my money back.

After AOL acquired DSL they billed me for two services which included the original dial up service and then started charging me for the DSL service. Once I took on the DSL service, the dial up service should have been cancelled. I eventually left AOL because of this.

I was billed twice a month, two weeks apart from August 2006 until July 2007 when I found out and canceled the fraudulent account. They gave me almost no information and only willing to credit 90 days back. The next day I closed my real account that I had kept for 10 years. The emails sent to that account do not bounce back, so the email account is collecting emails from senders who don't realize the account is closed. Account is never REALLY closed since my old email address is apparently collecting emails since they do NOT bounce back to my friends email accounts as undeliverable.
I had to change my credit card number and was overcharged by hundreds of dollars I will not recoup. An added inconvenience is that they will not REALLY close the email accounts. They effectively remain open as the emails do NOT bounce back to the sender.

I have been double billed $25.90 for 17 months. I called numerous times, and they will only credit me for three months.
I am on a fixed income on SSI. This has caused me much stress and has affected my income tremendously.

AOL charged to my account, sometimes three times in one month. AOL billed my credit card a total of fifteen payments even though the account was cancel by certified mail #0505764818. I did finally receive a confirmation from AOL and I never reactivated the account.
I have been trying for years, months, and days to obtain my money because I am on a limited income. The charges made my credit card go over the limit and I lost it.

AOL double billed me several times and even charged my checking account for $79.95 without permission. I had to go to the bank and tell them not to let Aol put anything through my account.

I am also one of the ones that was charged for two accounts. They have been charging my account $25.90 for 16 months.
When I called the girl told me that she could only credit me for two months.

This is pretty alarming and frightening and everyone needs to be alerted to the following. My AOL bills were being paid via automatic billing. I rarely check my bank info as there is plenty of money in the account, but one night I called my bank and listened to the checks that were cashed.
I heard the July check to AOL was $1700! And $1100 for June. In all they had deducted $5000 from my account.
I talked with a rep who tried to convince me that in May (I vaguely recall calling aol with a technical call) I had changed my $4.95 monthly fee to these huge fees of over 1500 a month. (Due to a problem I had with another aol billing 4/5 yrs ago I was given the $4.95 price forever).
It was not easy to get my money back, trust me! It took me several months of lengthy phone calls and finally a VIP, of sorts, got my money back. I asked for some type of award for the work/effort/stress that it caused me, but all I was offered was a year of service, worth $120!

I am being double billed by AOL and I only have one account. I am the only person living here.
I was being billed $14.95 a month and sometime in February my computer died. I did not stop service but it took several months to get it replaced and hence the $9.95 billing.
Now I am being told to cancel my card because someone is using my account. IT IS AOL!

I received a collections notice from AOL for the amount of $77 for non-payment of $25.90 for 3 months. The rep told me I had TWO accounts active with AOL. I went into my old bank statements and realized AOL was billing me TWICE for TWO accounts I wasn't even aware of opening.
I've been a client of AOL since 2000, paying $14.95. But realized I was also being billed for $25.90 for almost 2 whole years since 2005. The rep told me in 2005 I opened another account with a different screen name. According to him, I used an AOL disc that was mailed to me. Actually, my account was opened with my sister's credit card and in 2005, I asked to change the billing from her card to mine.
I failed to realize they were STILL charging my sister's card and mine until December of 2006. The only reason they stopped billing me, for that $25.90, was because I lost my wallet and had to cancel my debit card.

I have been double billed for years!

Aol double charged us for April 2007. Our bank got one of our payments back plus the over draft charges. Aol says that we are over due and they never got a payment. When they only paid us back for only one of the double payments. The guy said that there was no record of payment! We have 66 dollars in overdraft fees.

I noticed last year that I was being billed 23.95 three times monthly. I called and spoke to a customer svc rep who explained that I was being pro rated. I really had a problem with that because I’ve been a customer for 4 years. I signed up for unlimited service for 23.95 per month, so far I've paid almost $640.00 for this. I can't get anyone to explain this outrageous amount to me.

I have 2 aol accounts one for myself and one for my college student however I am receiving charges for 3 accounts instead. This has been going on since Nov 06 and I have requested a refund however to no avail I have not received it yet.
The damage is to my pocketbook. I am a parent of a college student and a student myself completing a master's degree. With the high cost of education who needs to be ripped off.

Aol billed my credit card for the monthly fee of April for 25.90. THey also billed on the same day my debit card for 25.90 five times (129.50), I have made countless phone calls to their customer service dept. and to their Fraud dept 800-307-7969 with no luck.

We are paying for their services and they are imbedding advertising on our private email pages. These ads are distracting to our employees and invade the privacy of our email page. If we want ads in our mail we would opt for a free email provider.

I just checked my bank statement & I noticed a double bill from aol. So I went online to contact them, and your site came up. I had no idea how many people are having the same problem. I hope your company can help.
I have been charged a $25.00 fee for returned checks, more than once. Now I have to go check with my bank to find out HOW LONG has this been going on, & I WANT MY MONEY BACK! I feel cheated & betrayed by a company that I thought I could trust. It's enough to fight them to cancel my service, altho it would be an HUGE inconvience. So for now, I must alert everyone I know, with aol, to check their bank statements, get the word out.

AOL tripled billed me for 1 service. They billed my credit card which I subsequently canceled, they billed my mother's phone line and direct withdrawal from my checking account.
My mother called and cancelled the account from her phone bill and received a threatening letter to send her to collection and she asked to speak to a supervisor who then said nevermind because she probably noticed it was being billed from 3 different sources for 1 account.
I'm trying to cancel my direct withdrawal but the bank won't because they said AOL has to cancel it. I called to cancel and was sent to a recorded statement that was suppose to give me a cancelation number but when it said your number is... there was a blank pause with no message...then it said it cancelled as of today (which was yesterday 04.10.07) and to push the pound key to repeat the message or star to re-instate the account. When I pushed the pound key it just repeated with again no mention of a cancellation number.

My checking account has been billed by AOL 4 times within the last two months. That is double what it should have been billed. AOL has been unresponsive in my attempts to resolve the matter. I requested an itemized statement showing all charges and credits beginning in December of 2006. All I received was a printout of my charges for those months. It showed no payments. I was told by an AOL representative to take it up with my bank, although it is AOL's error. I have yet to receive the itemized statement I requested three weeks ago or a refund.

I found out in March 05 that Aol was double billing me every month to the tune of 800+ dollars I caled in March 5, 05 and cancelled. They told me my husband ordered the second account he does not even know how to use a computer. Then this month March 15 I found out they where stil billing me for a account. I caled and the representative told me I would be reimbursed 466 dollars.
I waited for 17 days and contacted them today now they say someone called me in August 05 and I opened an account. First of all I didnt have a computer at all until March 06 and cancelled my phone line when my computer crashed. A total lie that they called me. Now they tell me there is no notation that they owe me 466.00. Since I talked to 2 different representatives that day and the second one acknowledged my credit. It has been removed from the notations this one said they would only refund me 6 months. They need to be held accountable for the fraud that they have been doing to everyone.

I just recently discovered that my dad has been double and tripled bill by AOL. We had no idea that this was occurring, my father is elderly and I feel that they have been taken advantage of. I am an employee for a different Time Warner Unit but would like to join any investigation so that I can help get my parents' money back. I believe they have been fraudently billed for 3 or more years. We had closed this account only to find that it was re-opened by AOL, my father was not aware of the charges. Even after contacting them, they added new charges to his account for this month. I fully want to press charges against AOL and will co-operate in anyway necessary.

John of Silver Spring MD (03/26/07)
In June 2006 I noticed credit card charges for an AOL account that I did not have. I disputed those charges with my credit card company and the credit card company stopped the payments. Then, I requested that my credit card company issue a new credit card with a different credit card number in hopes of stopping fraudulent billing. That did not help! Two months later, I was billed by AOL with the different credit card number and called to request that the charges removed.I am now being charged for the month that follows the month that I cancelled the account.

AOL has been going into our bank account and double billing us for services. We have been trying to get our money back for months now with no success.
We contacted AOL many times and had difficulties getting any answers. When we finally got someone who said if we send copies of the first month and then the last month of the bank statements that we were double charged, we would be reimbursed for the money *which the total amount was over $600. AOL landed up sending us 3 months ($40+) for years of stealing from our bank account.

We have been double billed for almost FIVE years from AOL since our 17 yr old son created a new screen name on our account. We have called them repeatedly and were told that this was a fraud? case. I was told by one of the representatives that this account has been inactive for at least the last 6 months but our son has never created a second account so I am assuming that the account has been inactive longer that that since he has been on his own and never used AOL as his internet provider.
I am tired of paying over 50.00 a month for one account and have lost over $1000.00 dollars on this supposedly fraudulent account which clearly is another case of double billing with AOL.
It is like talking to a brick wall trying to get this resolved. Our bank says that we need to resolve this with AOL.

AOL double billed me for 10 mos several years ago stating that I had opened another account. I didn't, but I gave up on collecting.
Now they have done it again by billing my credit card for a "free" account.

America On Line took money from my checking account with no authorization from me. I am the only one authorized to use my account and the name of the AOL account doesn't match mine. Every time I call or write, no one can answer me and no one can identify what happened or how they will correct it. $210+ has been automatically drafted from my checking account.

I found out from AOL I have more than one account but I never asked for it since every time I put an AOL disk in my computer I always click on current member.

AOL has billed me through a OSI recovery debt collector for $95.60. I contacted OSI and they told me to call AOL. AOL customer service was incompetant and harassing me to give them credit card or checking account numbers to verify the account. I would not give them that information and was told that they could not pull up the information without those records. The account that they say I owe is for an alternate screen name that was never even used.
The debt collector continues to send letters to me.

I have been double charged by aol for about 3 months now. Every time they tell me it was a mistake and it won't happen again, but the following month it happens.

We were getting billed two times for AOL service on two different credit cards. This was since 09/2005. I called to correct the problem and was told I could get 3 months back, then they said I could not get 3 months back. Upset I told her I would call back when I wanted to cancel service. Five minutes later I received an email stating I canceled service. I lost around $150.00, was treated poorly, and they canceled my service without my request.

Double-billed. I spoke with representatives on 2 different occasions who told me they would definitely send me a form in the mail to fill out. I have not received the forms yet and I'm getting ready to make my third call now to them.

I started to notice that AOL was charging me 5 times in a month! To make a long story short, the man said he would cancel all 5.
I continued to be billed after having received a letter that confirmed my cancellation. When I called again, a woman told me that the only cancellation that was made was a registration still under free trial, I was still being charged for 5 accounts!
$25 times 4 per/month and an additional $14.99.

AOL has been billing me for two accounts. One account is legitimate, and the other is not. I recently learned that they set up an account on my alternate screen name and have billing me double for YEARS. I cancelled the account in October, and yet they continue to bill my credit card. Aside from the emotional damage, frustration and anger, AOL has refused to refund our money. They recently agreed to reimburse me for only 3 months of double charges.

My mother is 86 years old and has used AOL for about 5 years. My sister and I take care of her banking accounts and we have been unable to have the problem corrected. They say she has two accounts. OBVIOUSLY, they could look and see that no minutes are used on the 'so-called' extra account.
No one will help! They say there is nothing that can be done. This is only after having to be on the telephone answering everything except the number of fillings she has in her teeth. My mother has some dementia. As much as we HATE AOL, we do not want to change the ISP because it would be extremely difficult for her to deal with a 'change in interface' on the computer.

I found that AOL has been double billing my checking account since 2002. AOL customer service has confirmed, but continues to double bill my account. AOL further stated that their fraud department would be contacting me, but this has not resolved the matter. I also contact my bank, Wells Fargo, and they informed me that they could not do anything for me that I would have to take this up with AOL. AOL has refused to contact me and refuses to reimburse me.
I have informed AOL of the financial hardship and they told me that matters would resolve in October, 2006, but they once again, double billed my account and I am having to force to close out my account. Due to the fact that I was unware that my account was be double billed, I inadvertently had negative sums in my account and was charged by Wells Fargo.

I have been double and triple billed in the past for new accounts created by aol on my other screenames. and just today nov 13 2006 I realized I was being charged for aol call waiting and callAlert since 203 and 2004 respectively for each service and they said they would refund me $19 and change only because they said I get a bank statement and should have seen it was being billed. I have a paperless bank account and set up auto pay back in 2003 and had CCI as a phone service for a previously disconnected phone. Their call alert system does not work with that company based in Virginia and they never stopped it and have been charging me since 2003 and 2004 for bothe services...I am livid and want to get in this class action lawsuit.

I have been double billed for over a year. I have repeatedly called and requested that it be fixed, yet every month it continued.
I finally had to cancel my credit card and called requesting that both accounts be cancelled. However, I began to receive collection letters. I called 11/8/06, spoke with Robert who assured me he fixed this problem. We shall see.

I have been being doubled billed by america online services for 1 year perhaps longer as I have switched billing cards and noticed it now!
50.00 dollars a month for 1 year =600.00 dollars

I was double billed for my internet service. I called and they said that they had been getting a lot of complaints and that they were sorry.
They said that I had another screen name account and must have forgotten about it. They had billed me twice a month for 3 years or more. I had direct payment so I really didn't catch on until I cancelled my account.

I had verizon now earthlink, can you help?

I have been double-, triple- and quadruple-billed by AOL for months and they have refused to stop it despite my complaints.
Personal financial losses of at least $600.00.

I have been double billed by AOL for over 6 months and cannot get them to stop withdrawing double payments each month even after repeated calls. My two accounts were closed several months ago. Now, they have one of those accounts in collection even though they owe me several hundred dollars in unauthorized withdrawals and are still doing it every month!!!
I have lost $300+ in unauthorized withdrawals by AOL.

Scammed! I was going over a bank statement today and realized I'd been double-billed by AOL going back at least ten months. It turned out to be two years and 10 months, a total of $880.00. I went through the automated messaging maze at AOL and wound up speaking with a fellow who, at first, wouldn't speak to me because he claimed my information did not match the information on the account -- even though I've had my account for 9 years, 6 months. Then, just as others have reported, he went on to investigate and learned that someone (Ma'am, does you husband have access to your credit card? Could your husband have created another account without your knowledge?) had allegedly opened a second account.
I went ballistic. As I was put on hold for the fourth time, I googled aol double billing and came up with this site and a number of others, and learned about the class action that was recently filed against AOL for this fraudulent practice. The fellow who was helping me said he could only credit my account $200.00, and that even though he wanted to credit me the full $880.00, the back end guys (gee, wonder how they got that name) would probably cancel his request. I'm furious. I want all my money back, plus interest, plus punitive damages. What is it with AOL?
Loss of $880.00 plus interest -- and a lot of rage. I will join a class action, but only if they agree to get my money back plus. I don't want any free services from AOL.

We have been charged a monthly fee, that has come out of a business checking account, that was never authorized. Neither one of us have AOL accounts, pins or passwords, e-mail, web pages or any such thing. We have had our internet service through another provider---the whole time!
When I called the AOL fraud department, I was told that they could not look up our account information without the card number and expiration date of the card that was being charged. I told them it wasn't possible because the card no longer existed. He insisted that I give him the debit card number.
This is already a nightmare, and cancellation of the service is an unnecessary hassle. Even if we wanted the service to begin with, I would never have guessed that AOL would be so unethical!

After I got married my wife notice that AOL had been double billing me for over a year. Called AOL to resolve but they said they could only refund me three months. Stated that I had two screen names.(?)
Bottom line - AOL robbed me.

AOL established a spin off account on my AOL account and charged me double fee for over two years to the tune of $600 plus.
When I contacted AOL, I got several stories on how the account was initiated, via phone, via web ect. They would not reimberse the charges.

I have been double billed by AOL for the last 4 mos according to the Bank Of America and have also incurred overdraft charges for same in duplicate. The double billing and double overdraft charges have left me in a state of economic ruin and I am in a position both frustrating and tragic as I cannot afford to live on less than half my paycheck.

I recently switched to RoadRunner broadband for internet access. I had been using a dial-up service for internet access and paying $25.90 per month for AOL internet services. I became aware through the media that AOL was offering free email and internet acccess to customers with broadband internet access. So I called AOL to switch to the free service. Just a couple days before, 7/25, AOL had debited my bank account for the August fee of $25.90. I requested a refund of this fee, but was told I would have to contact AOL billing. I contacted AOL billing but was told that AOL does not refund paid fees. I cannot believe AOL would take advantage of its loyal customers by continuing to bill them for services that were now free. AOL did not send me a letter saying I would no longer be charged. Had I not seen the announcement in the media and requested the switch, they would have continued charging me the monthly fee.

I recently discovered that AOL has been double billing my charge card since May 2006. I have tried every avenue I can think of to talk to someone in authority at AOL, however all I get is referrals to different departments and in the end get disconnected-with no results. If I have two separate screen names (which I seriously doubt), I would just like them to cancel the one I am not using, and to stop billing me for it.
I have been over billed $25.90 for 3 months for a total of $77.70, and have been unable to reach anyone to resolve the issue. I can't even cancel my account!

AOL is at it again double billing customers for multiple screen names. This has continued for three months in a row even though they supposedly cancelled all of my accounts twice before. I have demanded that they finally cancel the accounts and credit the charges. From my prior dealings with this dispecable company I have no reason to believe that they will do it in the future.
Numerous economic damages including bounced checks of more that 3K dollars. Overdraft fees of more than $300.

AOL has put a blocker on my ability to forward anything related to graphics, pretending it is "protecting" me when these are not advertisements. Then they delay answering my calls for up to 40 minutes at which time they "accidentally" disconnect the line. This has occurred at minumum of eight times - I've tried to communicate over weeks.
Finally, they have no phones by which anyone can reach them. OR are so well hidden that the average person can't seem to find any.

This company billed me for two accounts for over a year before I realized it on my account and refused to reimburse me.

For two years, AOL double billed me for one account for a total of $600 plus. It's the old you had two screen names routine. Nothing is ever explained to my satisfaction and, of course, nothing is ever resolved. They are truly the best BUNKO artists I've ever encountered. My experience is duplicated thousands of times from every corner of the country.

I'm being bill twice. Aol is billing my visa debit card and my credit card.

My payments were $17.95/month. The first time after they took $35 out of my checking then this month they took out the $23.95 and this is not supposed to be the amount I agreed to pay. I only agreed to pay the $17.95 a month. I would like my account credited or I will cancel my membership with AOL.

I purchased a computer for my Father (who lives at a separate address) through Dell, with six months free AOL service included. After the six months were up, I was continuously billed on behalf of my Father for several consecutive months by AOL, using my American Express card number that I had used to make the Dell computer purchase!
My Father NEVER approved AOL beyond the trial six months and did not even know my credit card number to appropriate to AOL. AOL had simply stolen my credit card and assumed billing on the computer I'd purchased for my Father to MY AOL account. Double billing for both my service and my Father's began to appear.

I have been billed $25.90 by AOL 3 times for accounts which I have cancelled via fax and telephone. When I first noticed the duplicate charge in April, I called and was told that there were actually 2 accounts opened on the same day with different screen names. The rep said she would close 1 account and refund $25.90 and continue my trial period on the other account and refund the $25.90 as well.
AOL did post 1 credit for $25.90 to my account billing on the original account.. I called AOL on 6/23/06 to ask why they had only posted 1 credit for $25.90 instead of 2 -told they had posted the credit but posted it to a 3rd account setup at the same time as the first 2 accounts. Why wasn't this account pulled up in April when I called to cancel the other duplicate account?
The answer was we don't know but we are billing you for both accounts again this month. Requested transfer to supervisor they refused & said they could not give out their representative numbers or supervisor names.

AOL double-billed me, once on the first week and again on the third week of each month. These were taken from my account through my debit card. I phoned their 888-265-8003 number and cancelled my services and advised of their over-billing. Afterwards, I opened my account with BellSouth. Lately I've been hounded with phone calls (rude ones) and letters demanding $39.80 AOL says I owe covering the time period between my cancellation order and when they actually discontinued my account.

I called them because I saw 2 deductions coming out of my checking account each month for 23.90. When I contacted them they said that was because I had 2 screen names. I asked them why they would bill the same individual for 2 screen names and they couldn't explain it. I was never refunded any money as they said that they had a policy that would not allow them to do that.

AOL Is double billing my credit card , one on 5/12/06 one on 5/30/06 an one on 6/12/06. I have called to talk to them about it but I get nowhere with them. I have talked to so many people at AOL, that I cannot list all of the names. I also signed up for high speed with my phone company. AOL told me I had to keep them. For 10.00 dollars a month. My Phone company told me the was not ture. So I Call AOL and got nowhere again.

I received my bill and on it as another charge for $7.77 plus another charge for $1.28 for fees and taxes. That phone number is 888-849-3200. I am suppose to pay $14.95 per month since I am a member of AARP and I had a private firewall for $5.95 but they were charging me $23.31 so I called ask them to cancel the firewall and give me Call Alert instead but since then I have called several time to cancel Call Alert and held the phone each time 25 to 30 minutes and no one ever answered me so I am going to tell my credit card that I am refusing all payments but I'm going to pay them$14.40 and that is all. Thank you

I was double billed by aol for over a year. I called many times and was told I was not even though I had my bank statement in front of me. Sent copies of bank statements to an address I was given in Florida, but have never heard anything. Changed billing account. I am now about to cancel AOL completely.

I'am being billed monthly by 2 different departments of aol. They have permission to take only $14.95 monthly. They are debiting my account at will. I called & complained now I'am being billed weekly. They will not refund my money as promised. They owe me about $200 for all the unauthorized debits they have done. Many promises by individuals working for AOL to fix the problem, never happens. They started debiting my account for services I do not have for amounts I did not approve! Who needs AOL to protect us agianst identity theft, we need someone to protect us agianst AOL! how do they get away with it?
I will use my paypal card to pay monthly bills-I arrived to pay my electric bill only to find out later AOL took that money also! My electricity got shut off and it cost me $30 to get turned back on!

I am being double billed by AOL. I was billed on the last of the month and the first of the month.
I have reported this to them many times. No changes and they deny it.

AOL will not let us cancel our account and has been double billing us for over two years. I have been on the phone for 4 hours today to cancel our account. I have been told to call back in two hours, then I get disconnected.

AOL has also been double billing me and I have not been able to find ANYONE who is able to help me. Also I have been trying to communicate with people who speak/understand very little English. Like several others, I am a single mother, and I have tried to cancel AOL several times, only to be given free months even though I specifically have told the operators that I did not want them. I never use AOL anymore. I have had SEVERAL overdraft fees also and am LIVID!

TWX*AOL has double billed my bank account for over a year. I was also single billed for one year after requesting my services be cancelled on 1/4/04 and 4/1/05. I was billed up to 4/1/06. I have spoken with several AOL Supervisors and AOL Consultants disputing these charges and no one could explain these charges to me. I also have requested from AOL a written explination and I have not received one.
I am a single mother living on a modest income. I have experienced several bank overdraft charges as a result of AOL double billing and unauthorized charges. On 5/3/06 one AOL Consultant named Frank, informed me that I would have to bite the bulet on these unauthorized bank charges. My experience with AOL trying to resolve these charges has become a nightmare that has left me frustrated with many sleepless nights and so frustrated and my stomach in knots. I do not understand how AOL can get away with deliberate fraud and not be held accountable?

I have been doubled billed numerous times causing my account to be overdrawn and have incurred numerous fees because of this. This has cost me approx $200 in bank fees.
The only resolution I was able to get was a month free of aol (which they will probally bill me for later when they think I am not looking). This has occured with them for at least a couple of years.

I have been double charged on my credit card by AOL for 51 months. On April 24th, 2006, I discussed this situation with an Mr Manpe, the AOL billing CSR, who reviewed my accounts and agreed to the second account being charged in error and that the acount reflects no activity for the period in question, and that this would be reviewed by his supervisor. The credit in excess of $1200.00 would be processed against my credit card in 2 to 3 weeks.
Monday, May 22, 2006 nearly four weeks later, not having received the credit, I called again to be advised I will receive a $100.00 credit against my credit card account buy must write to the AOL Corporate office at 22000 AOL Way, Dulles, VA 20166 for further inquiry. I feel they are now making me jump thru hoops to get my credit. I have informed the CSR during this last call that they have all the information of this issue and that I and very close to filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Bureau of the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office.

About a month ago, I spoke with a representative from America Online that I was double charged for 2 months without prior notification. This also created an overdraft in my checking account. About 2 weeks later, I complained to another AOL rep about this. He reassured me that I would receive $30 in the bank, and that there wouldn't be any charge for this month's AOL bill. Well, on Tuesday, imagine my surprise. I was reviewing my bank statement when I spotted the charge for $23.90 for this month. I've tried to email the Billing Manager, only to be blocked.
No real consequences, but when attempting to contact the Billing Manager, my email was refused.

AOL has been charging one of my credit cards 4 times per month and charges also another credit card since June 2005. I have called them several times to settle this problem. They are very hard to get hold of and if ever I spoke to someone it never get resolved. They finally fixed this problem in January, however, I was never reimbursed for the erroneous charges -- approximately $500 not reimbursed.

I also have been double billed by AOL. I found this out by reviewing my banking records. I can only go back as far as February 2006 from my bank statements, I will contact my bank in the morning to see how long they have been double billing me.

I received my credit card statement and found 2 charges from AOL instead of one. After several calls to Billing and Tech Service I found the 2nd charge was for going over the 10 free hours of direct dial in service (via modem, direct phone connection to AOL). I don't dial AOL via modem, I dial into another ISP and connect to AOL.
Not only was I charged an additional $39.99 on this statement, but they had charged me an addition $39.99 that had not yet shown up on my card. And I was on my way to a third charge for the June billing of $39.99. This is all in addition to my regular monthly fee.
Eventually Tech Support said there was a software problem that logged in all my hours as direct dial up hours via modem directly to AOL. The best I could do was get a partial credit for services I did not receive. I lost about a day of my time trying to fix the problem. They over billed me $79.89 and will probably bill me another $39.99 next month.

Double billing for 1 year and 4 months, refusal of refund of more than two months.
I sent a letter to billing operations, and was told they probably wouldn't do anything more than the reps would, but I would receive an answer in two weeks.
$386.90 of charges, creating numerous overdrafts and charges, as well as lengthy phone on holds and disconnects.

Cancelled service in February and paid off account. I am receiving bills double billing for the service and AOL is calling my home phone a few times daily. I asked the customer service rep to stop calling to no avail. I advised I was being harassed, the reply indicated I was rude.

I had been double billed for two years and when it was brought up to the AOL cancellation department, I was told that "yes AOL had made an error and I would be quickly refunded" It has been two years since that call and I have talked with many people who have directed my many letters, faxes, and e-mails to people who are "very concerned about customer satisfaction" to no avail. At this writing I am frustrated and angry. I am tired of getting condescending pats on the head telling me to contact yet another ambiguous person and getting no results.
$23.90 x 24= $563.60 plus interest for the two years. Not counting the reams of paper and phone calls over the years to try and get my money back.
