KitchenAid Mixers |

Jeffery of Hutto, TX May 2, 2009 I purchased a Kitchenaid stand mixer for my wife a couple of Christmases ago. We use it about once a month on average. Just like most of these comments, it started leaking oil while I was making my daughter's birthday cake a while ago. I only lost eggs and butter, on top of the mixer of course. Any talk about a class action lawsuit? I think it's more than appropriate in this case. Lacy of Grove City , OH April 25, 2009 I was given a kitchenaid mixer by my husband and children for Christmas 3 years ago. It was used very moderately making only icing, cakes and cookies. Really the job a 10 hand mixer could easily handle. This year however I started making bread. This mixer states it has a 4 loaf capacity. After attempting to make 2 loaves of bread the motor completely stopped and will not turn at all. I tried customer service and was very disappointed with the the offer of 30 toward the purchase of a new mixer. And also upset at the guidelines they state I was not following that were not anywhere in the manual. I told them I will be replacing this mixer with a Bosch and will never own another Kitchenaid product. I have no use for mediocre appliances in my kitchen. I will also be sharing my opinion on this mixer with all of my friends. Kitchenaid mixer as a gift a few years ago and decided to trade up to the Professional 600 for an out of pocket cost to me of approx. 150.00. I didn't use the mixer for at least a year, and never took it out of the box. When I finally got around to unpacking and using it, it made what seemed like an excessive amount of motor noise for a new "upscale" appliance. I attributed it to being new and continued to use it sparingly over the next couple of years. The other night I was making a few small batches of pizza dough, and after the first 2 batches, I placed the dry ingredients into the bowl and powered it on. It came on at an amazingly fast speed and proceeded to throw the ingredients all over me and the rest of the kitchen. I immediately turned it off, and thinking I surely must have made a mistake, refilled the bowl with the dry ingredients, made sure the switch was in the off position. When I moved the switch from off to the first position, the machine came on at the same high rate of speed, and once again me and my surroundings were covered in flour, yeast, salt, etc. Once again I immediately turned it off and finished the job by hand. Based on the excellent reputation of this machine, I decided the malfunction must have been due to excessive use or over heating, although neither was the case. I let it sit overnight, and the next morning turned it on (with an empty bowl this time). It came on slow for about 3 seconds, then proceeded to warp speed as before. It ran at the high speed for approx. 5 seconds, then shut down. I decided to search the web for similar problems and/or solutions, and was amazed and disheartend to find my problem as well as a few different onces were shared by many others. I checked the online repair manual, and wisely decided against trying any repairs on my own. Based on what I have read here, if I am lucky enough to find someone in my area that would work on it, I would be out a minimum of another 150.00. I think it would be utterly ridiculous to invest that kind of money into repairing an obsolete unit when I can purchase a replacement at any number of locations in this area for around 150-199. So, in closing I requst that you add my name to the growing list of totally dissatisfied and disgusted consumers who will certainly think twice before making any Kitchenaid purchase ever again.
