Grill Vent fell off, all by itself one evening about a year after installation. I was told this was not covered by warranty as it is a cosmetic part (yes the microwave works when this part is off, but really looks bad so I agree it's cosmetic, but disagree that it is not an integral part of the microwave) I Paid 118 for a replacement part 8205008 . Now barely a year later the part falls off again all by itself. The Grill Vent just is held to the unit and supports only it's own weight. THe little plastic clips are obviously insufficient strength to hold the part. THe fact that it falls to the floor and damages it's self more (real cosmetic damage) precludes trying to create some sort of fix to the unit to add your own new metal bracket. You will need to buy a new Grill Vent because you old one just destroyed itself in the fall.

This is what I wrote to the Kitchen Aid General Email. Microwave goes on by itself into 'pan' mode. It will not stop. Is this a panel problem with this model khms1j5lss-4? How much are new panels...is there a quick fix?

Here is their answer... Thank you for contacting Whirlpool Consumer Direct Sales. We apologize that we are unable to process orders via email at this time. Please call our retail parts department at 1-800-442-9991 with your complete model number, including the engineering code at the end of the model number, and one of our representatives will be glad to assist you with pricing and purchasing parts. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. Whirlpool appreciates your business. Sincerely, Rachael B. Whirlpool Consumer Direct Sales

Instead of constantly unpluging the microwave...my wife figured out that if you do not program the clock into the unit...then it will not go into any programs but will still work. So the quick fix is, 'DO NOT SET CLOCK'

The Kitchenaid Microwave Model #KHMS155LSS-3 is a very scary product. I woke up in the middle of the night because it smelled like someone was cooking. I turned on the light and nothing seemed amis so I went back to bed. In the morning I saw the code F2 on the display, I opened the door ant the inside was blazing hot. The motor that for the turn table now makes alot of noise and the mirowave will just turn on for no reason.

It now remains unplugged unless needed until I can have it replaced. Additionally, I to have the problem with the grill. It fell off and chipped the paint on my range. This thing is a safety hazzard. Worse yet I have to pay my township additional money to throw it away. Fortunatly, we discovered the problem before it burned my hous down.

We purchased all new KitchenAid appliances on November 24, 2006 from Lowe's, whom really highly recommended KitchenAid products with sale offers of rebates on purchasing KitchenAid products. The KitchenAid Microwave Hood Combination (Model#KHMS155LSS-4)has been one of the most defective products I have ever seen and has made me to never again purchase anything with the brand name of KitchenAid after dealing with customer service! I paid 409.00 plus tax for a piece of crap that falls apart for no reason! This makes the second time, after replacing the first one, which costs me 118.92 on April 1,2008!

The Grill-Vent has just fallen off again and this time cracking the door handle in two places, as well as scratching up my smooth black stovetop and dents in my hardwood floors, shattering all the plastic parts, which hold this piece of crap onto the main unit. You are wasting your time when dealing with customer service with this company! This is one company that does not stand behind their products! They are very arrogant, rude, and offer no concern to the consumer! It is like talking to a bunch of zombies with an attitude!

I can not afford to keep replacing a very costly defective part that just falls off for no reason and destroying everything in it's path because this part is not small at all, it is 29 7/8 wide. Not only has this part destroyed itself, it has broken the door handle, scratched up my smooth black stovetop unit, dented my hardwood floors, and recked my nerves!!!

The door springs on the the kitchen Aid Superba microwave oven combo (KEMC308KSS01) break repeatedly. Well-known problem! Don't count on Kitchen Aid to aid you with the repair. Expect 150 - 200 repair every year or so! Nonetheless, you should replace the broken springs because of the safety issue of the microwave oven door falling open and Hitting the head of children who may use the microwave.
