Martin of Bethesda, MD July 25, 2009 KitchenAid Dishwasher (KUDS01FLSS0) same story as others on this page the nylon cord holding the door hinge broke, for a second time. Thanks to the information here I will 1) request a refund from Kitchenaid for expenses for first repair, and 2) buy a different brand washer, rather than spend another 250 to have it repaired Sharon of Weare, NH July 24, 2009 We purchased a new SS Kitchen Aid dishwasher and have horrible problems with the FINISH gel pacs and tablet detergent not disolving. We have turned up the water temp, run it on super hot, run the water for several minutes BEFORE turning the dishwasher on and it still does not dissolve. I have to run the dishwasher 4 times and then there is such a bad film on all the dishes and silverware that I have to use GLISTEN to clean it up...then I have to hand soak and wash the silverware as you can't use GLiSTEN on silverware...we are very disapointed with this dishwasher and with the FINISH dishwasher gel pacs and tablets...we are at our witts end about what to do... Christine of McLean, VA July 9, 2009 It's obvious that the cables that hold the doors to Kitchenaid dishwashers are completely faulty, after reading SEVERAL complaints of this problem for the month of June 2009 alone! Our 3 year old Kitchenaid dishwasher had the cables replaced three months ago, and the replacement cables broke again last week. Nothing is covered under the orignial warranty - and the replacement parts only have a 90 day warranty (we were at day 89), so, the company that made the repair is honoring the warranty, but the parts are likely to fail again because the cable is nylon wiht a plastic part covering it that seems to be the cause of wearing down the cable (according to our repair company who confirmed the problem is rampant - in fact when they went to pick up the replacement cables today, there weren't any left in the store because they are going like hotcakes ... I wonder why?!!! I am going to follow-up with Kitchenaid, but it doesn't sound like they will do anything to resolve the problem. This is a design failure and the cables are metal on other dishwashers. Unfortunately, Kitchenaid does not recommend replacing the cables w/ metal types, claiming they will not work (according to our repair company who actually looked up the Maytag wire cables and called Kitchenaid to ask the question). Either Kitchenaid needs to find metal cables that can be used, or pay to replace dishwashers with one's better designed. I'm NEVER buying a Kitchenaid again - here we come Bosch!!! Sarah of La Mesa, CA July 1, 2009 We purchased a 'top of the line' Kitchenaid dishwasher for our newly constructed home. 15 months old, the motor quit. They warranty the motor, but the labor will be 180.00. Labor is only 1 year. How can this be a quality product ?? Lisa of Winchester, CA July 1, 2009 Our Kitchen-Aid dishwasher purchased in 2004 is leaving scary looking film and particles all over our dishes. I've tried running the hot water longer, changing soaps, vinegar, etc to no avail. I called Kitchen-Aid who sent out their service company, paid them 128 for basically doing nothing except try to sell me an extended warranty. Martha of San Diego, CA June 22, 2009 I have always owned Kitchen Aid appliances; had a dishwasher for about 20 years and not one problem, so in 2005 when we were remodeling our house we went to the local appliance store and purchased the all new Kitchen Aid appliances...dishwasher KUDS01FL556, refrigerator, microwave over, warming drawer and oven, fortunately, we did not purchase a Kitchen Aid range! We nave had nothing but trouble with the mircrowave, refirgerator, and dishwaster. We too have had an issue with the dishwasher door as it came crashing down and injurged my leg. The motor on the microwave had to be replaced, our ice machine in the regierator went out within 6 months, but the topper is our dishwasher. We have had to have 4 service calls on it and yesterday it went out again! The control panel keeps going out. When we have the techicians come out, then they don't have the parts, when the parts come in a different technician comes out and disagrees with the diagnosis of the first technician. It is ridculous! We also have issues with the filmy, streaky glasses in our dishwasher...I thought it was how I was loading it, etc. We thought we were buying a great product, but something is seriously wrong with Kitchen Aid products and quality. Just say NO to Kitchen Aid and don't buy any of their products!!!!! Mike of Norristown, PA June 19, 2009 I purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher in 1903 at a cost of 887. Since then, the link door balance, a poorly designed part made from a piece of string with pieces of plastic at both ends of the string, has failed three times. When the link door balance fails, the door of the dishwasher comes crashing down and can cause an accident. In my cas, the door scraped my leg. There are dozens of complaints about the same part failing. I called Kitchenaid today and the person I spoke with, Jennifer, was absolutely no help. After a very long cnversation, she offered to send me the replacement parts but I would be charged for them. I mentioned several times that this was a poorly designed part and that there were dozens of complaints about the same failure. It is clear to me that Kitchenaid is ignoring the problem. The part has not been redesigned so it will fail again. It's a time bomb waiting to explode. I am surprised that there is not a class action suit initiated against Kitchenaid. Frank of Lutz, FL June 18, 2009 We purchased our Kitchen Aid dishwasher model number KUD101FLSS in April of 2004. Since that time we have had no less than 15 service calls on the appliance. We are now at wits end, the digital panel was replaced in April of this year and today has decided that it requires replacing a second time. Kitchen Aid's customer service team is absolutely useless, the only thing they are anxious to do is to get off the telephone without having to schedule an appointment. Whatever happened to quality products and quality customer service?? I wonder if the CEO of Kitchen Aid reads these emails of dissatisfaction, do you think he's embarrassed or better yet has a conscience?? It would be interesting if everyone on this website joined together and filed suit for delivering inferior products. "NEVER" again will I buy a Kitchen Aid appliance. Kevin of Kamloops, BC June 17, 2009 The door on my 4 yr old Kitchenaid built-in dishwasher broke the other day. The door came crashing down injuring my wife's leg. It was very scary as the broken parts act to counter-lever the weight of the door, making it seem less heavy. When it broke, there was a loud bang and the door slammed open with a surprising amount of force. I was able to "mickey mouse" it together, but I don't think it will last long. My parents with the same Kithenaid model have had this happen twice to their dishwasher. The broken parts are made of poorly designed plastic and string. This is clearly a design flaw, with the potential of a serious injury. Leslie of Grass Valley, CA June 17, 2009 Our KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDSOIFSSI is about 5 years old. I will never buy another KitchenAid. The door cables broke in January 2008 and have just broken again. That's a 250 repair bill each time. The pump had to be replaced 2 years ago and and the door latch failed. My advice to anyone considering a KitchenAid dishwasher is to buy a Bosch. I'm going to cut my losses and do just that.
