Jenn-Air, now part of the Whirlpool empire, maintains an upscale image but many of its customers are deeply disappointed to find they didn't get the quality they thought they were paying for. Many, like those below, bought an entire kitchenful of Jenn-Air appliances. Others got off light and are unhappy with just one or two appliances, listed in the box to the right.

The Electric Down Draft Jenn Air was in the home covered under a home warranty, but when we cooked on the grill the house filled up with smoke setting of smoke alarms. After going round and round with the service manager and the warranty people they said there is nothing wrong with the unit and that is the way it works. Needless to say we can't use the grill unless we want to set off the smoke detectors and smell our home up with smoke. Very disappointed with the product and looking for any other vendor who has gas with a down draft feature.

I bought a JGC8536ADS 5-burner gas stove top--top of the line. I've been using it for about 6 months, and the knobs on top are splitting out. It won't turn on or off. It's of no use, therefore I can't use the burner. They use cheap, plastic knobs. The knobs to replace are 10.00 each, plus shipping.

We purchased a Jenn-Aire oven/microwave wall oven 4 years ago. A part went out, and now my repair man said that part is no longer available. So I called Jenn-Aire myself, and they said they can't get that part--and they would allow me 15% off on a new oven unit.

In June of '05 my wife purchased a 1200.00 Jenn-air BBQ from Lowe's. From day one the BBQ would not heat up like my 10-year-old Charmglow would. Eventually it got worse; it cooked the meat so slow--it cooked it all the way though with out even searing the out side. So I contacted Lowe's and got no customer service (30 days is all you get). Jenn-Air cannot even contact me to this day. So now my 1200.00 BBQ caught on fire through one of the knobs, and now is completely unusable. After three years I would have to say what a disappointment for me and my wife seeing she was so proud to buy me such a nice grill.
