During March 2003, I purchased brand new Frigidaire refrigerator/freezer for 1100. Three years later, I've noticed the body showing signs of rust.

This is an appliance that should be sanitary.

We purchased a Fridgidaire side by side in 2002. On Saturday of Memorial Day weekend it quit running. No weekend or holiday service is available, so on that Tuesday it took a serviceman 5 minutes to say the compressor was broke. Now I learn the part will not be here in Cincinnati until Monday and installation is scheduled for Tuesday. Central Repair Service in Cincinnati is the only warranty service available and it is pittiful. In an age when nearly anything is available 2nd day air - waiting for an extra 6 days is absurd. Good bye Fridgidaire/Electrolux it has not been nice to know you!

I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator in April of 2005. It has been having issues from the beginning keeping cool and keeping quiet enough to not stop conversation in the kitchen. The helpless people in India that you must go through to get service were rude and only knew how to read off their prepared information. When they finally realized I wasn't falling for their runaround, they lined up a service man.

The evaporator fan was replaced due to excessive noise. It only took two months to get the part. The repair told me it was a very high failure part so they had trouble getting it. It has since started making the loud rattling sound again. Every once in a while the unit will decide 35 is cold enough for the freezer. The fridge will get all the way down to 45 when this happens. They come to repair it and if they don't witness the exact symptoms I've reported they tell me it is working fine. I am now out of warranty and have what looks like a piece of junk.

I purchased a Frigidaire side by side in March 2003.

After a weekend trip we noticed water coming from the freezer side. When we opened up the freezer everything was thawed, several hundreds of dollars in vacuum sealed food ruined. On the refrigerator side it was quite warm and food was beginning to spoil.

When contacting the service company given to me by the Electrux people, I was informed that it was most likely the compressor gone bad and that it wasn't worth the cost to replace it since it was in the sealed section, and we had not purchased the extended warranty.

I contacted several more refrigerator repair shops in the area and was given the same story, it was going to cost just as much to repair as to buy a new one. The date on the back of the refrigerator was 2/13/03 exactly 3 years to the date that it stopped working. I was not expecting to have to replace/repair a refrigerator less that 3 years from purchasing it. We bought a Frigidaire because of their reputation.
